While traveling at high way speed my brakes failed. We almost rear ended people and almost crashed into the divider. Thankfully the parking brake still worked.. We are very grateful that no one got injured. The truck is getting repaired at ford as I write this and it was diagnosed as master cylinder & brake booster failure.
Breaks stopped working while I try to start my car, it went all the way to the floor. No warning , before it stopped, the warning came when it actually happen: "no break fluid". After a mechanic checked it, the brake master cylinder and break booster failed to work properly they needed to be replaced. The master cylinder is leaking brake fluid into the brake booster. If this would have happened to me driving on freeway or on road I wouldn't had any breaks to stop. My truck has been taken to Ford dealership they are fixing the problem.
I just had to have the vacuum booster pump for the brakes on my truck replaced again. The part number is: BL3Z-2A451D. It is the third time that I have had to replace it in the last four years: 6/26/20, 9/15/22, and 7/21/24. My mechanic, George’s Auto, in Crescent City, CA says that it is a faulty design issue, and has to replace several on other vehicles as well.
While driving on the NYS Thruway my brake light came on and when I tried to engage my brakes it was difficult to push the pedal and the brakes were barely responsive. Now the brake pedal is difficult to push each time I start the vehicle and it barely stops when I begin moving. The rotors and pads are fine. My mechanic diagnosed the problem and it's a failed vacuum pump.
Ecoboost engine shut down on highway in rush hour traffic. Had my truck in the shop after 9526.00 in repairs and new engine it happened again this week. 1 year later. My truck was under 2 warranty extensions . And was in the Ford dealership at those times. I mentioned to service manager that it seems that possible could be the problem. Now I'm stuck with this mess . And it took 18 months for them to fix/ not fix it. Ford dealership
TRUCK MADE RUMBLING/GRINDING NOISE FROM REAR-RIGHT BEDSIDE AREA, THEN WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, AN ATTEMPT TO SLOW+STOP THE TRUCK WAS MADE, BUT THE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND VEHICLE PROCEDED THROUGH INTERSECTION, AFTER PULLING INTO SAFE SPOT, BRAKES STARTED FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY AGAIN. A FEW HOURS LATER BRAKING COMPLETELY FAILED. TRUCK IS CURRENTLY SITTING UNTIL WE CAN HAVE A DIAGNOSIS (AND REPAIR) DONE...
Service Advance Trac warning light comes on when backing while steering wheel turned. Multiple instances. Clears after a few minutes, but researching issue seems to be widespread across the Ford community, and has resulted in steering locking up while vehicle is in motion. Scheduled for maintenance visit to local dealership to diagnose. Codes read were C1963 & U0428
Brakes seem to go in and out from time to time . I keep getting the service brake system light on and will turn itself off after next key cycle . Dealer advised vacuum pump issues this should be a full blown recall
Turning right the vehicle's steering and brakes locked up. The traction control system warning indicator illuminated. Rac and pinion unit replaced by Ford Dealer. Same problem occurred within 50 miles. Returned to Dealer. Dealer is unable to reproduce problem.
It appears the master cylinder is leaking into the large black vacuum piece. Parked and went into shop in Safeway. Then came out and loaded kids, wife and groceries. Started truck, started to back out of spot, then tried to stop and no brakes, low brake fluid then comes up. I threw it into park and tried to think what is going on. Check the brake fluid and it is empty. Then go to gas station and add 2.5 pints. Start truck and wife pulls brakes and gets back to working, but notice the brake fluid is decreasing from resivior but seemed to stop. I topped it off and started to drive because brakes were working. After driving about 10 blockes, the low brake fluid alarm comes up again and I pull over and no brakes. Finally investigate and still no leaks anywhere. Finally look up online and find this is a common problem and you have recalled 2014 through 2017, but not 2012 or 2013, but seems to be a problem with this year as well.
On 22MAY2022 I started my vehicle and started pulling out of a parking space when I lost braking power. The failure resembled a similar issue I had in the past when the electronic vacuum pump failed and the brake pedal felt hard and required significant additional effort to bring the vehicle to a stop. The electronic vacuum pump and fuse has been replaced by the dealership previously. The unexpected brake failure caused me to roll farther than I wanted and hit the rock on my passenger side, rear door, causing minor body damage. Ford Customer Service said Customer Satisfaction Program 15N05 is a one time replacement and this vehicle is no longer eligible for the program since it has already been serviced. Additionally, they said any repair associated with this event is limited to 15N05 so body damage would not ne covered.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the brakes failed to function as needed at the initial start-up of the vehicle. After shifting to neutral(N) and waiting for a while, the brakes would function as needed. The contact stated that the previous owner had stated that the vehicle was included in a previous recall for the brake module. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer by the contact nor had the vehicle been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

Brake Failure: The brake Vacuum Boost pump is failing which causes a loss of power assist brakes. This is a massive safety issue and can cause serious accidents. Oddly Fors no longer manufactures the Bracket to be able to replace the pump and there is no aftermarket alternative. My Dealer tells me their notes from ford say obtains from aftermarket but I have scoured the internet and nobody makes the bracket. IT's a terrible design and a huge safety issue that should be recalled completely . Ford watts to charge over $900 to fix it but cant even get the parts as described above. Transmission Lead Rail: Recently had the Transmission Lead rail fail whcih casued sudden downshiting at highway speeds and the shift indicator to not illuinate. THis again is a massive safetey issue that Ford issued sevral TSB on but never recalled. This almost got me killed on thehighway a few times. They charged me over $1500 to replace the LEAD rail when again this defcetive design and craftsmenship that is a massive safetey issue and should be fully recalled. Engine Stutter: My truck has almost always stuttered anytime you wne tover hal throtle, There are sveral TSB on this but FORD has not stepped up and taken care o fht eissue via recall. Apprnetly moisture build up in the inercooler and gets sucked into the intake due to poor design. Timing Chain Stretch: I now have Timing chain stretch, this also seems ot be quite common due to poor design. Rear Door Failure: I can no longer open my rear half door due to failure of internal plastic door components. You can research any o fhtese issues and find that htey are very common pronlems in F150 and other Ford vehicles due to their negligence in design and engineering and some are huge safetey issues that FORD has somehow been alloweed to ignore or issue insufficinet TSB instead of Recall.
Vacuum pump is bad again. This was previously recalled. The part has failed now for the third time. Only once was I reimbursed due to recall, but it has since failed twice more. Currently at 98,000 miles.
Vehicle sat idle in garage for two months. Started vehicle and brake pedal went to floor and was very soft. A warning was displayed on the instrument panel showing low brake fluid. Noting that master cylinder reservoir was almost empty I purchased a pint of DOT 3 brake fluid which I added to reservoir to "MAx" fill line. Started vehicle, brakes pumped up to a normal pedal pressure, took for a short test drive slowly testing brakes. All seemed normal at that time. Approximately 3 hours later I started vehicle, again noting that the brake pedal went to the floor. Checked the reservoir and found it almost empty again. Looked under vehicle and found no indication of fluid in any of the four corners by the wheels nor under the master cylinder. It is my belief that the fluid is leaking into the brake booster a problem which was addressed in a Safety Recall 20S31 issued by Ford Motor Company for a series of vehicles which although does not include my vehicle I believe that this issue is directly related and could also cause serious injury and/or damage if not repaired. I will have this issue fixed at my expense, however, I would be interested to learn if any other 2012 vehicles have experienced this problem.
I have a 2012 f150 platinum eco boost When starting vehicle in morning I would here a strange noise coming from the front driver side, now I leave out of driveway after starting and when I apply brakes the truck will not stop like there is no brake pressure and feels like anti locks are on, I have to sit for a couple minutes and then they work but they only appear to work manually I have to push brake pedal hard, I tried diagnosing like the forum says I put my foot on brake and start vehicle, the brake pedal stays hard and does not move, they say if this happens it is the brake vacuum pump. There is a recall 15N05 on my year vehicle but Ford says my vehicle isn’t covered it’s under the mileage and the correct year, I have to buy the pump myself, why isn’t Ford honoring the recall I just ordered part and if needed will upload the invoice later

THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRIC BRAKE VACUUM PUMP. IT MALES A LOUD NOISE WHEN BRAKES ARE USED AND MAKES THE BRAKE PEDAL DIFFICULT TO PRESS DOWN ON AND HAVE A POSITIVE BRAKE REACTION. THE FIRST DISTANCE TRAVELED AFTER INITIAL STARTUP HAS VERY LITTLE BRAKE ACTIVITY DUE TO THE PUMP NOT CREATING BRAKE PRESSURE. IT APPEARS THAT IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY FORD AS SOME TRUCKS HAVE BEEN RECALLED BASED ON THEIR MANUFACTURE LOCATION, MY TRUCK WAS NOT MADE AT THE LOCATION NEEDED TO QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL AND FIX OF THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER THE SAME ISSUE EXISTS AS THOSE THAT DO QUALIFY.

THE ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP FOR THE BRAKES IS MAKING A LOUD BUZZING NOISE. FORD SAYS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND IT ISN'T A PROBLEM. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING OF THE BRAKES GOING OUT. ALTHOUGH, THERE IS NOT A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. I'M NOT SURE HOW THERE CAN'T BE A RECALL IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE IN ALL 2011 AND 2012 FORD F150S.

I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE FRONT ROTORS AND ALL PADS AT 8000 MILES, REPLACED ALL 4 ROTORS AND PADS AT 22,000 MILES. I AM NOW AT 30,000 MILES AND NOW HAVE NO POWER ASSIST. THIS YEAR AND MODEL IS KNOW TO HAVE ISSUES WITH THE VACUUM ASSIST PUMP, WHICH FORD IS NOT WILLING TO REPLACE. WHILE COMING TO STOP MY BRAKES FAILED AND WENT TO THE FLOOR. ON EXIT 32 EASTBOUND I-90. THANK GOD THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS IN FRONT OF ME. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2013 -2014 FORD 150 THAT WERE MANUFACTURED AT THE SAME PLANT AS MY TRUCK. IN OUR RESEARCH IT TAKES THE SAME MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AS THE RECALLED TRUCKS. OUR TRUCK ONLY HAS 78,000 MILES ON IT.
HAVING VERY POOR BRAKING AND A HARD PEDAL FEELING WHEN STARTING TRUCK AFTER SITTING IN DRIVEWAY FOR A FEW HOURS. ISSUE OCCURS EACH TIME I START THE TRUCK. I CAN'T GET THE TIRES TO LOCK UP AND THE ANTILOCKS TO KICK IN NO MATTER HOW HARD I HIT THE BRAKES. HARD BRAKE PEDAL RESULTING IN NO OR VERY LITTLE BRAKING WHEN ENGINE IS COLD AND VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, EVERY DAY, EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE. ONCE THE PUMP BEGINS WORKING OR BECOMES UNSTUCK, I DO HAVE BRAKES, HOWEVER I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS WILL RESULT IN BRAKE FAILURE AND AN ACCIDENT WITH SERIOUS INJURY TO ME AND MY PASSENGERS. I WAS CASUALLY DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY JUST OUTSIDE OF ATLANTA WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I FELT A JOLT IN THE REAR END AND MY ADVANCED TRACTION CONTROL TURNED ON AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THAT SOMEHOW MY REAR AXLE DIFFERENTIAL HAD SNAPPED ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE. THEY STATED THAT USUALLY THEY SEE THAT IN HIGH LIFTED TRUCKS OR WITH TOWING SOMETHING HEAVY. MY TRUCK IS STANDARD LIFT AND I DO NOT TOW ANY TRAILERS AND I AM THINKING IT COULD POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN A FACTORY DEFECT AS MY TRUCK IS STILL PRETTY YOUNG AND HAS ONLY 114000 MILES

NHTSA ACTION #EA15006, FORD COMPANY INITIATED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 15N05. I HAD THE ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP (EVP) REPLACED BY FOR ON 4/25/17 WITH 48,846 MI. BY 3/19 I STARTED HEARING A NOISE IN CAB DURING COLD STARTS, BUT IT TOOK A LITTLE WHILE DURING COLD STARTS IT MADE THE NOISE FOR ME FIGURE OUT IS WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. I REALIZE IT WAS THE EVP AGAIN. NOT 2 YEARS AND WITH ABOUT 63 AND CHANGE MILES, A MECHANIC SAID IT WAS THE EVP AGAIN. I CONTACTED FORD DEALER AND THEY DENIED REPLACING THE BAD PART, SAYING I ONLY HAD 1 YEAR OR 12K TO HAVE IT REPLACED. ALL OF FORDS OTHER PARTS GET A 2 YEAR WARRANTY, EXCEPT EVP. CONTACTED FORD COMPLAINT LINE ON 4/13, THEY TOLD ME TO HAVE ISSUE VERIFIED BY A FORD MECHANIC 1ST. I DID & ON 4/17/19 GAVE THEM COMPLAINT, THEY GAVE ME COMPLAINT #. THE FORD DEALER I USED CALLED ME BACK ON 4/29/19, SAID FORD DENIED FIXING IT AS WARRANTY, BUT OFFERED TO GIVE ME $100 OF A $442 REPAIR. DEALER SAID IF I WANTED THE EVP, TO ORDER IT BECAUSE THEY WERE ON BACK ORDER, IT WOULD BE WEEKS. I CALLED COMPLAINT LINE, ASKED TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE ELSE BESIDES THE WARRANTY DEPARTMENT ABOUT SAFETY ISSUE WITH EVP, THEY GAVE ME A NEW COMPLAINT # AND SAID SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME- TOLD THEM I WANTED A SUPERVISOR, THEY SAID THEY WERE UNAVAILABLE . I NEVER HEARD FROM FORD. I CALLED FORD BACK ON 5/20/19, CALL TAKER SAID LAST COMPLAINT WASN'T PUT IN RIGHT, THAT'S WHY NO ONE CALLED. I TOLD HER I WANTED TO TALK TO A SUPERVISOR, AGAIN SAID THEY WERE UNAVAILABLE. ONE TRIED TO CALL ME AT 9:23PM ON 5/20?? THEN CALLED ME ON 5/23/19 AT 7:04PM- I ADVISED HIM THE EVP IS GONE BAD, SOUNDS WORST THE THE 1ST TIME IT WENT. HE SAID I WAS OUTSIDE WARRANTY & THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT SPONGY AND DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. WITHIN THE PAST THREE MONTHS, THE CONTACT HAD TO ADD FOUR BOTTLES OF ANTIFREEZE TO THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ENGINE OVERHEATED. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE BRAKE, ENGINE HOT, AND TRANSMISSION HOT WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. OCCASIONALLY, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED OR IDLING, THE AIR CONDITIONER BLEW HOT AIR AND THE WINDOWS FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A FAILURE DUE TO MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: 19S07 (POWER TRAIN). THE REPAIR WAS INCOMPLETE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VACUUM PUMP FAILED AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I TOOK MY 2012 F-150 TO BYERS FORD IN DELAWARE,OH. THEY WERE TO PERFORM THE 19S07 RECALL. THEY SAID THEY DID IT. AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP I NOTICED IMMEDIATELY THAT THE TRUCK SHIFTS VERY QUICKLY INTO FIRST AND THE BRAKES FELT DIFFERENT. THEN SINCE I HAVE PUT 4 BOTTLES OF COOLANT IN IT IN LESS THAN 3 MONTHS. OVERHEATING FREQUENTLY AFTER ONLY 15-20 MINUTES OF DRIVING. THEN THE BREAKS DON'T WORK HALF THE TIME AND THE LIGHT COMES ON SERVICE BRAKES, I HAVE THEM CHECKED BY FORD THEY SAY NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM. NOW THE TRUCK SHAKES, OVERHEATING FREQUENTLY, BRAKES WORK PART OF THE TIME, WHERE IS THE COOLANT GOING? NO LIQUIDS ON THE GROUND UNDER THE TRUCK BUT IT SMELLS BURNT AND WET IN THE TAILPIPE. NOW BYERS FORD IS SAYING THAT IT IS JUST DUE TO 2 MORE RECALLS, ONE BEING THE VACUUM PUMP AND THE OTHER IS THE TRANSMISSION MODULE, BUT THEY SAY IT SHOULD BE OKAY TO DRIVE, THEY CAN'T GET ME A RENTAL CAR AND THEY CAN'T GET ME IN UNTIL OCTOBER 9TH BUT THEY SAY TO JUST KEEP DRIVING IT WITH MY BREAKS BARELY WORKING HALF THE TIME BECAUSE OF THE VACUUM PUMP AND IT OVERHEATING ALMOST EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT, HAVING TO FILL IT UP WITH COOLANT, LOSS OF POWER, SLUGGISH, MANY RANDOM COMPUTER ISSUES IT SEEMS BUT THEY SAY TO DRIVE IT? THEN ON 2/16/2019 I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE AND AGAIN COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE AND WENT INTO GRASS HILL OF MY YARD.AGAIN MY BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD AND NO POWER BRAKES. WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP I LET OFF THE BRAKE AND REAPPLIED AND THEY STARTED TO WORK AGAIN. I TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THAT DAY FOR THEM TO CHECK IT OUT. THEY NOTIFIED ME IT AGAIN WAS THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP HAS HAS FAILED AGAIN AND FORD WILL NOT FIX IT SINCE IT WAS FIXED ONCE BEFORE UNDER THIS RECALL. THE DEALER ALSO TOLD ME THEY CANNOT FIX IT DUE TO THE PUMPS BEING BACK ORDERED FOR AT LEAST 30 DAYS. SO THE FIRST RECALL REPAIR ONLY LASTED 19,108 MILES AND LESS THAN 2 YEARS. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME BEHIND ME TO GET RUN OVER AND NO DAMAGE OCCURRED. MY FEELING THAT THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AND PARTS SHOULD LAST LONGER. IT APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM SINCE THE PART IS NOW ON BACK ORDER AND LOOKS TO BE A POOR DESIGN.

SEVERAL MONTHS LATER THE DISPLAY ILLUMINATED AND HAS STAYED ILLUMINATED EVER SINCE. 2) THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED REPLACING A $100 PART - I CONTINUED TO SWITCH THE WIPERS ON AND OFF UNTIL WIPERS STAYED OFF. SITUATION STILL REQUIRES ON/OFF SWITCHING SOMETIMES BUT HAS IMPROVED OVER TIME 3) THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF A $400 BRAKE VACUUM PUMP. I CONTINUED TO WAIT FOR BRAKE PEDAL TO FIRM BEFORE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AND THE SITUATION RESOLVED TO NORMAL PRESENTLY. THAT IS TO SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. 4) TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND INCURRED A $700+ CHARGE FOR IWES SYSTEM. DEALERSHIP SAID THE CHECK VALVES HAD STUCK OPEN AND DIRT AND DUST HAD ENTERED THE SYSTEM REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF PARTS 5) THIS IS THE LATEST ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN TURNING AFTER A STOP AND DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY DAY. I SUSPECT IT WILL RESOLVE ITSELF OVERTIME IF MY THEORY AS STATED AT THE TOP IS CORRECT.

FORD MECHANIC STATED THE FAILURE WAS MOST LIKELY DELAYED DUE TO USING AMSOIL, THE FAILURES TYPICALLY OCCUR EARLIER THAN 91K MILES. FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. FORD DEALER IS PUTTING A NEW FORD MOTOR IN IT ENTIRELY AT MY EXPENSE. ALSO THE VEHICLE HAD A RECALL FOR A BRAKE PROBLEM INVOLVING THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE VACUUM SYSTEM. WHEN WE MOVED IN MARCH 2017 TO A HOME WITH A SLIGHT DRIVEWAY SLANT, THERE WERE DAILY BRAKE ISSUES WHERE WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE IT WOULD FEEL STIFF AND FAIL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. UPON INVESTIGATION, WE LEARNED THAT A RECALL HAD BEEN DONE ON OUR MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR OF VEHICLE DUE TO A VACUUM BRAKE PUMP FAILURE, BUT WERE TOLD THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS MADE AT A DIFFERENT PLANT THEN WHERE THE RECALL WAS VALID FOR. ON 4/24/17 WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AND WERE TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS WAS "NORMAL" AND CHARGED $83.95 FOR THIS. WITHIN A COUPLE WEEKS WE STARTED HEARING ANOTHER LOUD NOISE WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AND TOOK IT IN ON 5/12/17 WHERE THE TIMING CHAIN WAS REPLACED UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. A MONTH LATER, THE SERVICE BRAKE LIGHT STARTED COMING ON WHILE DRIVING, BUT IF WE STOPPED AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURNED IT BACK ON IT WOULD STAY OFF (FOR A DAY OR TWO). WE CALLED AND WERE TOLD NOT TO BRING IT IN UNLESS THE LIGHT WAS ACTUALLY ON. A WEEK LATER THE LIGHT CAME ON AND WE TOOK IT INTO AN AUTO SHOP TO HAVE THE CODES READ TO IDENTIFY THE ISSUE TO SHOW THE DEALERSHIP. ON 6/21/17 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN WITH THE READINGS AND AT THAT TIME WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE VACUUM PUMP HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS JUST ABOUT WORKS TO BRING THE TRUCK TO A HALT, BUT EVEN THIS FAILED A COUPLE OF TIMES WHEN D(DRIVING FORWARD). THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS AROUND FOR 10 METERS. THIS HAS LED ME TO ONLY STARTING THE VEHICLE WHEN THERE IS NO PERSON/OBJECT EITHER IN FRONT OR THE REAR. IT IS HIGH-RISK EACH TIME GIVEN THE DAMAGE THE TRUCK CAN DO IF IT COLLIDES INTO SOMETHING. IT IS NOT READILY REPRODUCIBLE AS IT WORKS FINE THEREAFTER AND HENCE COULD NOT PROVE IT EXISTS TO FORD TECHNICIANS. REPORTED IT FIRST TO FORD ALONG WITH AN E-BRAKE ISSUE ON 02/12/2015. THEY REPLACED THE E-BRAKE BUT BRUSHED OFF THIS ISSUE SAYING IT COULD BE RUST AND IT'S NORMAL ON VEHICLES PARKED FOR LONG. HOWEVER THE FREQUENCY HAS INCREASED OF LATE AND I SEE QUITE A FEW FORD OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE ON FORD FORUMS. THE POSSIBLE ISSUES COULD BE THE VACUUM PUMP FAILING, BUT FORD TECHNICIANS CLAIM TO HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. REALLY AT A LOSS AND HOPE FORD SENDS OUT A BULLETIN TO FIX THIS ASAP. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, TURNED IT BACK ON, AND LET IT WARM UP A FEW MINUTES. NOW IT WAS OK. FROM THEN ON WHEN THE TRUCK STARTED COLD IT HAS DONE THIS ON A REGULAR BASIS. GOOD THING I FOUND THIS BEFORE I REACHED ANY SPEED, AND WHILE THERE WAS NO CARGO IN THE BED TO ADD INERTIA. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND REPORTED TO FORD THAT THE BRAKE VACUUM ASSIST PUMP WAS LIKELY CORRODED, AND THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE ON 2011-2013 F-150 ECOBOOST MODELS. THEY NEEDED A FORD TECHNICIAN TO MAKE THE DIAGNOSIS, WHICH I WAS CHARGED $100 FOR (TO DETERMINE THAT I WAS RIGHT). THEY ALSO REPORTED A BAD FUSE FOR THE PUMP. I AM HOPING NOBODY IS TRYING TO SAY THAT WITH A BAD FUSE THESE PUMPS WILL DISINTEGRATE IN THREE WEEKS OF SUMMER WEATHER? LET'S BE HONEST- THE BAD PUMP TOOK OUT THE FUSE, IF THE FUSE WAS BLOWN. THEY ESTIMATE A ~$900 REPAIR. I OPENED A TICKET WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY BECAUSE THIS EVENT EXACTLY MATCHES NHTSA PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION ITEM PE15026. PEOPLE WITH THESE TRUCKS OR ANYONE AROUND THEM COULD GET SERIOUSLY HURT IF THE DRIVER CANNOT REACT QUICKLY OR PANICS WHEN THIS PART FAILS, AND IT IS A POORLY DESIGNED PART. WE STILL HAVE ALL THE SERVICE PAPERWORK TO DISPEL THAT REMARK, THIS VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000 MILES ON IT. THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRES IN DECEMBER AND HAS STILL NOT BEEN FIXED. IT DOES NOT JUST STALL IN RAINY OR VERY HUMID CONDITIONS AS STATED BY FORD IN THEIR RESPONSE TO THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION. THEY HAVE REPLACED SPARK PLUGS TWICE, UPDATED SOFTWARE, PUT A HEAT SHIELD IN FRONT OF THE INTER-COOLER. NONE OF THESE THINGS HAVE WORKED. THE SHIELD IN FRONT OF THE INTER-COOLER DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF THE INTER-COOLER BY NOT ALLOWING IT TO COOL AS INTENDED. IT RAISES THE TEMPERATURE IN THE INTERCOOLER IN AN ATTEMPT TO PRODUCE LESS CONDENSATION. MY SON BELIEVES THE INTER-COOLER HAS A DESIGN FLAW. HE THINKS THAT THE AIR RETURN FROM THE INTER-COOLER TO THE ENGINE BEING ON THE BOTTOM ALLOWS MORE CONDENSATION TO BE SUCKED BACK INTO THE ENGINE. IF IT WERE ON THE TOP, MORE OF THE CONDENSATION WOULD STAY IN THE BOTTOM AND NOT RETURNED BACK TO THE ENGINE. THERE IS AN AFTER MARKET FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT IT IS EXPENSIVE AND I BELIEVE FORD MOTOR COMPANY DOES NOT WANT TO SPEND THE KIND OF MONEY THAT IT WILL TAKE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM CORRECTLY. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO OPERATE EFFICIENTLY UNDER ANY CONDITIONS. IF IT DOES NOT, IT IS FLAWED. I WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO PURCHASE THE REPLACEMENT INTER-COOLER OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. I'VE INCLUDED ALL THIS INFORMATION IN THE EVENT THAT IT HELPS OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.

BRAKE PETAL GETS VERY HARD WITH LITTLE OR NO BRAKING POWER TO STOP. 2012 WAS THE LAST YEAR TO USE ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP TO SUPPLY POWER BRAKES AND THEN WAS REPLACED IN 2013 WITH A BELT DRIVEN VACUUM PUMP. THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE IN THE F-150 FROM 2012 AND PRIOR YEAR MDLS.

DURING FIRST STARTUP OF THE DAY, THE ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP MAKES A TERRIBLE NOISE FOR APPROX. 10 SECONDS AS IT BUILDS UP ASSIST VACUUM PRESSURE. THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES HARD AS A STONE WITH NO VACUUM ASSIST. THIS IS DUE TO A FAULTY DESIGN WITH THE PUMP ASSY. IT BECOMES CORRODED INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY, AND THE PISTON INSIDE THE CHEAP HOUSING BECOMES CORRODED AND THE PUMP WILL EVENTUALLY SEIZE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A DANGEROUS ISSUE. IF THE PUMP SEIZES, THERE IS NOT ENOUGH VACUUM ASSIST COMING FROM THE ENGINE TO PROVIDE ENOUGH VACUUM PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE BOOST SYSTEM AND THE PEDAL BECOMES HARD AS A ROCK TO PRESS. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY DURING FIRST STARTUP IN THE MORNING, AND START UP IN THE AFTERNOON WHEN THE VEHICLE SITS FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME AND VACUUM PRESSURE DEPLETES. *TR

ON 27 DECEMBER 2013, I RETURNED HOME FROM WORK SOMETIME BETWEEN 5-6PM. I PARKED THE VEHICLE IN THE DRIVEWAY JUST AS I HAD EVERY DAY SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, AND EXITED THE VEHICLE AND WALKED TO THE PASSENGER SIDE TO RETRIEVE BAGS THAT I HAD TO TAKE INTO THE HOUSE. I OPENED THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR, TOOK OUT THE BAGS, CLOSED THE DOOR, AND PRESSED THE LOCK BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB AS I WALKED INTO MY HOUSE. I REMEMBER IT WAS A WINDY DAY AND AS I RECENTLY RESEARCHED, GUSTS WERE UP TO 27 MILES PER HOUR DURING THE TIME IN QUESTION. APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES AFTER I WENT INTO THE HOUSE, THE NEIGHBOR WAS AT THE DOOR AND TOLD ME THAT MY TRUCK HAD ROLLED DOWN THE HILL. IN PANIC AND DISBELIEF I RAN OUTSIDE TO SEE THAT MY TRUCK HAD ROLLED DOWN MY DRIVEWAY, BUT SINCE THE WHEELS WERE SLIGHTLY TURNED, IT STOPPED IN MY YARD AFTER RUNNING INTO THE MAILBOX. I QUICKLY RAN DOWN TO THE VEHICLE AND TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR BUT IT WAS LOCKED. I PUT IN THE CODE AND UNLOCKED THE TRUCK. I THEN RAN INTO THE HOUSE TO GET THE KEYS. I HAD NOT BROUGHT THEM OUT THE FIRST TIME I RAN OUT. WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE CAR, I NOTICED THAT THE GEAR SELECTOR IN THE DASHBOARD DID NOT HAVE THE ORANGE LINE IT USUALLY DOES WHEN IN PARK. IT LOOKED LIKE A SMALLER LINE, ALMOST AS IF IT WAS SOMEHOW BETWEEN PARK AND REVERSE. WHEN I ASSESSED THE DAMAGES THE TRUCK RAN INTO THE MAILBOX AND BUSTED THE DRIVER'S SIDE TAIL LIGHT. T THE NEXT DAY, I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE VEHICLE DAMAGE EVEN THOUGH IT WAS STILL UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. THEY SUGGESTED A FILE A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE. I FILED A CLAIM WITH FORD, BUT THEY STATED THAT MY INFORMATION DID NOT SUBSTANTIATE MY CLAIM OF A MANUFACTURING OR DESIGN DEFECT. *TR

I AM WRITING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE FAILURE OF THE VACUUM PUMP ON OUR 2012 FORD F150 WITH ECOBOOST. ONCE THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN AROUND 33,000 MILES, WE BEGAN TO NOTICE SOME ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING STARTUP: THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DIFFICULT TO PRESS AND UNLESS PUMPED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE MOVING, THE BRAKES WOULD NOT FULLY ENGAGE. THIS IN OTHER WORDS, THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE BROUGHT TO A COMPLETE STOP IN A NORMAL OR SAFE AMOUNT OF DISTANCE. WE INFORMED THE TECHNICIANS AT OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER OF THIS ISSUE WHILE HAVING THE ANNUAL INSPECTION COMPLETED. ULTIMATELY, THEY FOUND THE VACUUM PUMP TO BE COMPLETELY INOPERABLE AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED. FORTUNATELY, NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED BEFORE WE HAD THIS PART REPLACED, BUT THE POTENTIAL WAS SIGNIFICANT.
