My truck started experiencing the notorious Ford "limp mode" needs lead frame replaced. Ford has a customer satisfaction program directly related to this issue but though its 20k under their 150k limit it is over 10 yrs old so they are not honoring anything or doing anything about covering and cost associated. Pretty crappy of ford.

I am the second owner of the vehicle and there were no disclosed repairs or issues provided at the time of purchased. The 2012 Ford F-150, is shifting sporadically and harsh. Throwing out code P0722. Which directly relates to the below previous recall. Recall Reference Number: 24S37. Issue: An intermittent failure of the output shaft speed (OSS) sensor in the transmission can lead to an unintended downshift to first gear. Affected Vehicles: Some 2014 Ford F-150 models. Reason for Recall: The abrupt downshift can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Potential Codes: P0720, P0722, P0731 and/or P1500

It shifted out of gear into first. It wouldn’t pull giving it gas didn’t help I was lucky I wasn’t injured when it shifted. A wrench flashed on dash board when it jumped gears.

I have a 2012 f 150. I am the second owner of this truck. going down the road a wrench appears on my dash board. The issue seems to be Safety recall notice 16s19/ NHTSA recall 16v-248. The software update was done in 2019. The problem started 4-5 months ago. Ford tells me they dont have to fix the problem now because the it is out of the extended warranty they put on the vehicle. They admit there is a problem but won't fix it. I am driving a unsafe vehicle. I think they should. I drive my grandchilden to school in this truck. do i have any recourse?

Transmission lead frame module needs replacement. Truck will not shift properly and the wrench light illuminated on dash; I took it for an assessment and it was determined that the lead frame module was bad. I found a safety recall for the lead frame module for my truck for which I never received any correspondence about and would like to have it investigated.

My truck would shift gears and I would feel a kick. Then the speedometer would drop, and the airbag sensors would turn off. At times the dealership states it is an issue with the Transmission Lead Frame.

Truck down shifts randomly while driving and does not shift when it is supposed to on take off the RPMs go up 3 something. You can stop turn truck off and it starts to work again for 1 or 2 take offs then does it again.

Speed control/transmission goes out while driving which results in my speedometer dropping down to zero and my RPMs going up. I have to completely shut my vehicle iff and wait a moment to restart it. Sometimes it fixes it and sometimes it doesn’t. It happens quite often, not everyday but several times a week.

The wrench light on the dashboard comes on I loose all speedometer readings and mpg. The transmission will not go ro 6th gear or down shift past third gear the transmission also jerks and rpms go up really high. This occurs going down the interstate or anywhere really if I turn the truck of and restart it the warnings will go away but later come back

While driving down the highway, a wrench appeared on the display, then the speedometer went down to zero and the truck wasn’t shifting or accelerating. I took it to the Ford dealership and the diagnosed it as an issue with the Leadframe sensor assembly. They also let me know this is a known issue and there was an extended warranty program that my vehicle is over mileage for. The repair cost estimate was $800 for parts/labor. They also stated that the part is on back order and may be a month before they could get it. When I asked about driving with the issue they said it won’t do damage to my transmission but may intermittently cause shifting issues and could result in loss of reverse. I don’t feel comfortable driving it like that but it is my only vehicle. I also contact Ford customer care directly but there was nothing they could do to assist and pointed me here.

Transmission downshifts during normal driving conditions on highway. There is a recall for this defect. Recall #1901(transmission). Called Ford on 9.6.23 and spoke to employee #219738 and Ford refused to correct known defects.

I was driving at approximately 30 mph when the transmission's OSS (Output Speed sensor) suddenly malfunctioned, causing an unexpected downshift into first gear. This abrupt shift led to a loss of control, resulting in a harrowing collision with a tree. What I witnessed next is etched into my memory forever: a scene of blood, fluorescent white bone fragments, and shattered glass strewn all around. Bones were even protruding through my skin at various locations, including my wrists, forearms, legs, and ankles, not to mention the dislocated shoulders. Thankfully, there were no other individuals present at the scene; otherwise, the outcome could have been equally disastrous, if not fatal, for them. Astonishingly, there were no discernible warning signs such as unusual sounds or dashboard warning lights prior to this incident. Following the accident, my pickup truck was towed to Cedar Park Wrecker, only to be swiftly claimed by the insurance company and subsequently sent to auction within a matter of days.

Driving on freeway and truck downshifted and almost control, orange wrench was on display, speedometer stopped working and I could barley get to 30 mph...finally was able to pull off freeway...turned -off...waited and turned back on...engine light was on...it drove alright for alittle bit, than it downshifted to first and would shift had to pull over and shut it down again and restart...made it home...next day took to AUTO ZONE...Code reads P0720 OSS SENSOR FAULT...Ford had a SAFETY RECALL19S07 for trucks 2011-2013 ...I did not receive any letter for that or the Customer Satisfaction Program 19N01...same issue and cannot drive my truck, it is unsafe...had to drop-off at FORD Dealership to repair and update software on transmission...it should be repaired at no charge, having to pay for Rental.

Delayed and no gear shifting including an unexpected transmission downshift to 1st gear occurring at 40 mph: rear wheels locked up, engine revved to redline, had to put hazard flashers on and shut engine down in heavy moving traffic. Finally Check Engine/Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL); later reading P0720 code.

The vehicle would down shift aggressively into first gear. The speedometer and gear displays would not function showing 0mph while driving. The vehicle would move through gears erratically. Driver and passengers would be jerked forward.The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Ford dealer. There were no indicator lights at the start of the issue. Indicator light appeared after multiple incidents spanning over a few months .

Vehicle shifts from a high gear to a low gear. While driving 60 miles an hour on the expressway my F150 went from six gear to first gear with no warning locking my rear wheels causing my speed to drastically or abruptly be lower almost causing several other vehicles to crash into the back of my pick up. Vehicle stays on gear sometimes first third or fifth gear with no warning switching back-and-forth. While making a stop at 0 mph vehicle stays at a high gear for example he could stay at third gear or fifth gear so they takeoff will be in third or fifth gear not in first gear . Also losing speedometer reading. This has happened multiple times while driving at low speed or high speed. I am concerned that this could cause accidents in the roads. Ford motor company corporate advised me that is an auto pocket fix sensor customer satisfaction program has expired for my vehicle. I never received notification of this issue while on my truck was within warranty. Ford Motor Company stated that they extended their coverage until 10,000 miles or 150,000 miles whichever comes first. My vehicle has 165,000 miles and he’s 10 years old. I don’t believe this is a normal Tear and water failure. This is a manufactures defective part that has happened in thousands of vehicles is not an isolated incident.

While driving at approximately 60mph my vehicle shifted into first gear and aggressively skidded into oncoming traffic with my wife and two daughters in the truck. After regaining control, I drove it to my residence where the issue was repeated two times at slower speeds. After calling my local Ford dealership, they stated that there were two open recalls relating to the issue, 19S07 relating to the PCM and 19N01 relating to the leadframe. Apparently the two issues have resulted in many crashes and multiple fatalities. 19S01 was completed on my vehicle in 2019, however they did not mention or fix the leadframe issues in 19N01 despite it already being an open recall with national attention. I did not receive a recall letter or notification despite the serious nature of the issue. While I was within the warranty window for the leadframe at the time of service for the first recall, I have recently driven past 150,000 miles. The same Ford dealership stated that while the two recalls would apply, they were under a 10 year 150,000 mile warranty. I am within 10 years, but at 163,000 miles. After discussions with my dealership and two customer service representatives at your call center, I am extremely disappointed to hear that this known safety issue will not be fixed on a 9 year old vehicle because I am 10,000 miles outside of your warranty issue.

WHILE DRIVING (AT ANY SPEED AND FROM ANY GEAR) TRUCK FREQUENTLY, UNPREDICTABLY EXHIBITS FOLLOWING BEHAVIOR: - SPEEDOMETER NEED DROPS TO ZERO REGARDLESS OF ACTUAL SPEED. - TRUCK LOSES PROPER SHIFTING FUNCTIONALITY. EVENT HAS OCCURRED A DOZEN TIMES OR SO SINCE 12 DECEMBER 2020, USUALLY AT SPEEDS AND GEARING ABOVE THIRD. TYPICAL RESULT IS TRUCK WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT BELOW THIRD GEAR, BUT ON ONE OCCASION EVENT OCCURRED AT A STOP LIGHT, AND GEARING ABOVE FIRST WOULD NOT ENGAGE - ODOMETER, TRIP METER, GAS MILEAGE AND OTHER DIGITAL INFORMATION DISPLAYS NULL OUT TO DASHES INSTEAD OF SHOWING NUMBERS - A WRENCH SYMBOL APPEARS ON RIGHT SIDE OF THE DIGITAL DISPLAY. SYMBOL SOMETIMES REMAINS FOR THE DURATION OF THE EVENT, AND SOMETIMES GOES AWAY. - SOMETIMES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS, SOMETIMES NOT - AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES IF I TURN THE TRUCK OFF, REMOVE THE KEY, AND THEN RE-START, THE TRUCK TEMPORARILY RETURNS TO NORMAL FUNCTION, WITH NO INDICATION EVENT OCCURRED (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOT ON, ETC). TRUCK IS NOT SAFE TO OPERATE IN THIS CONDITION AND I HAVE NOW STOPPED DRIVING IT. I HAVE BEEN STUCK AT A RED LIGHT ON A GRADE WITH A LOAD IN THE BED AND TRAFFIC BEHIND ME, UNABLE TO MOVE WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGES, BECAUSE FIRST AND SECOND GEAR WILL NOT ENGAGE, AND THIRD GEAR LACKS TORQUE TO GET MOVING. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR AN ISSUE SIMILAR TO THIS FOR TRUCKS BETWEEN 2011 AND 2013. TRUCKS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL WERE GIVEN A FEILD SERVICE ACTION FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY. THEY KNOW THIS IS AN ISSUE TO MORE VEHICLES THAN WHAT THEY RECALLED. OWNERS WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS FIELD SERVICE ACTION. NOT ONLY THAT, BUT THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHILE GOING 75 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. THIS CAUSES THE TRUCK TO DOWN SHIFT, SLOW DOWN, AND YOU MUST PULL OVER FOR SAFETY ON THE INTERSTATE. A CODE WILL POP UP AS P0720 OR P0721. FORD SHOULD BE DOING MORE SINCE THEY KNOW IT IS AN ISSUE, OR THEY WOULD NOT HAVE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY. THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY F-150 VEHICLES BUILT IN THOSE DATE RANGES.

THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THE LOOP, CITY STREETS, HIGHWAYS, IT'S RANDOM. I CAN ONLY LIMP MY WAY TO A SAFE SPOT TO PULL OVER, TURN ENGINE OFF THEN BACK ON AND EVERYTHING GENERALLY STARTS WORKING AGAIN. LAST NIGHT ON A CITY ROAD DOING ABOUT 55MPH IT LOCKED UP AGAIN BUT REFUSED TO DROP OUT OF 5TH GEAR THOUGH I WAS AT A DEAD STOP. EVEN TURNING THE KEY OF AND ON WOULD NOT RE SET IT. IT FINALLY GOT TO 1ST AFTER MESSING WITH IT AND I GOT IT HOME, HOOKED IT TO MY OBD2 READER AND IT IS THROWING A P0720 OUTPUT SPEED SHAFT SENSOR MALFUNCTION CODE AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF. I HAVE ATTACHED A PICTURE OF THE CODE IT IS NOW SHOWING, AND DATE OF MALFUNCTION IS MOST RECENT.

THE WRENCH SYMBOL COMES ON AND THE DIGITAL INSTRUMENT SCREEN GOES BLANK AND THE TRANSMISSION EITHER GETS STUCK IN 5TH GEAR OR WILL START OFF IN 3RD AND ONLY SHIFT THROUGH 5TH GEAR. YOU CAN TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND RESTART IT AND MOST OF THE TIME IT WILL RESET AND START OFF IN FIRST AND THE SCREEN WILL RETURN TO NORMAL. UNUSUALLY WHEN THIS OCCURS WHEN STARTING TO DRIVE AGAIN IT WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR AND AT THIS TIME YOU HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND RECONNECT AFTER 15 SECONDS TO REGAIN MOBILITY. I HAVE REPLACED THE PCM TO NO AVAIL. THE NEW PCM IS REGISTERING A CODE NOW FOR THE OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSOR WHICH HAS HAD A RECALL IN OTHER 2011-12 F150 MODELS. THROUGH RESEARCH AND CONVERSATIONS ON FORD TRUCK FORUM'S I HAVE LEARNED A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.

AFTER EXPERIENCING A SPEED SENSOR FAILURE IN MY FORD F-150, I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL DEALER TO HAVE THE RECALLED PART REPLACED (SPEED SENSOR/LEAD FRAME). THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE PART, INSTEAD FLASHED THE SENSOR WITH NEW SOFTWARE. THE NEXT DAY, ENCOUNTERED A RELATED ISSUE, AFTER TAKING IT BACK, THE SERVICE REP STATED THAT IT SEEMS TO BE THE LEAD FRAME AND WOULD BE COVERED BY FORD BUT DID NOT OFF AN ADDITIONAL APPOINTMENT, ADVISED TO CALL BACK IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I HAVE CONTINUED HAVING THESE ISSUES. ISSUE: VEHICLE STOPS SHIFTING, LOCKS INTO THE GEAR THAT IT IS IN, SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING, ALL DATA GOES BLANK AND TRANSMISSION ACTS LIKE IT SLIPS. THEN, STOP THE VEHICLE, TURN IT OFF, RESTART, THEN RUNS FINE UNTIL NEXT OCCURRENCE. AFTER MUCH MUCH RESEARCH AND AGREED DISCUSSION WITH THE SERVICE REP AT 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS, IT DISPLAYS THE EXACT SYMPTOMS OF THE LEAD FRAME WHICH IS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL ISSUED RELATED TO THIS ISSUE. 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS HAVE NOW REFUSED TO REPLACE THE PART BECAUSE THE ERROR CODE IS NOT PRESENT WHEN I GET THE VEHICLE THERE AND THAT IS BECAUSE I HAVE TO GET THE ISSUE TO CLEAR SO I CAN CONTINUE DRIVING IT. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED FORD MOTOR CO. CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HAVE HAD THE ISSUE ESCALATED 3 TIMES, EACH TIME THEY COME BACK WITH A RESPONSE "THERE ARE NO CURRENT PROGRAMS AVAILABLE TO ASSIST" EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A FORD ISSUED RECALL ISSUED IN FEB. 2019. I HAVE ALSO WAITED FOR A WEEK FOR A CALL BACK FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER BUT NO RESPONSE. THE ISSUE PERSISTS WITH NO ACTION FROM FORD. I AM STUCK DRIVING MY TRUCK EVERYDAY IN FEAR OF BEING STRANDED AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING ALONG RT. 837 HIGHWAY ON MY WAY TO WORK, GOING ABOUT 45 MPH, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL OF THE GAUGES ON MY DASH WENT BLANK AND MY SPEEDOMETER WENT TO ZERO. THEN A BIG ORANGE WRENCH APPEARED ON MY DASH. THE TRUCK DROPPED INTO FIRST GEAR AND I HAD VERY LITTLE POWER. I WAS ABLE TO TURN MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING REAR ENDED. I ENDED UP MAKING IT TO WORK, WHICH WAS ABOUT 3 MINUTES AWAY, IN FIRST GEAR. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE ALL OF THE GAUGES WERE WORKING AGAIN. I MADE IT HOME FINE THAT DAY AND AN ADVANCED AUTO SCAN OF THE VEHICLE BROUGHT UP NO CODES. TWO DAYS LATER I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM OCCUR ON RT. 30 HIGHWAY AND I HAD A SCAN TOOL I HAD BOUGHT WITH ME. I GOT 2 CODES, (P0720, P0722) BOTH RELATING TO THE OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT.

WAS TOLD NO CODES WERE FOUND WRONG AND THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. APRIL 30, 2019 HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK IN. WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL ON LEAD MANE FRAME FOR FIRST TIME. AFTER REPLACING LEAD FRAME VEHICLE STILL WILL NOT PREFORM PROPERLY AND I HAVE NOW BEEN TOLD ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY LETTER NOR MADE AWARE AT TIME OF PURCHASE OF ANY RECALL. FORD CONTINUES TO REFUSE ANY REMEDIES TO JUSTIFY THIS PROBLEM. RESCHEDULED A FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENT FOR APRIL 12. ON APRIL 5 AND APRIL 7 THE TRUCK HAD THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE RECALL WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX. GOING APPROX 50MPH WHEN THE TRUCK WENT INTO FIRST GEAR WITH WHEEL HOP AND SOME FISH TAILING. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT MY VIN WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH FORD'S QUALITY OF PRODUCT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR A KNOWN ISSUE. THIS TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 56,000 MILES ON IT AND I AM STILL MAKING MONTHLY PAYMENTS.

ON THE EVENING OF 2/14/19 WHILE RETURNING HOME FROM THE CAR WASH, MY 2012 FORD F-150 SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR FROM 6TH GEAR WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THERE WAS NO LOSS OF CONTROL AS THE ROAD WAS DRY AND MY SPEED WAS 40 MPH. THE NEXT MORNING I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT JACK DEMMER FORD IN WAYNE MI TO SPEAK WITH MY SERVICE REP. HE DID NOT PICK UP AND DID NOT RETURN MY CALL DESPITE MY LEAVING A DETAILED MESSAGE AND CALLING AGAIN LATER IN THE DAY. ON THE MORNING OF 2/19/19 WHILE ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO WHAT I ASSUME IS "LIMP MODE". IT DROPPED FROM 6TH TO 5TH GEAR AND A WRENCH LOGO APPEARED IN THE MESSAGE SCREEN. THERE WAS NO DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM, JUST A LOGO. WHEN I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY, I REALIZED THAT I NO LONGER HAD 1ST, 2ND, OR 6TH GEAR. I ARRIVED AT WORK AND CALLED THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY. THEY GAVE ME A RUNAROUND ABOUT HOW AN OFFICIAL FIX WAS NOT AVAILABLE YET AND ASKED ME IF I HAD TRIED TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN. AFTER INSISTING REPEATEDLY THAT SOMETHING BE DONE, I WAS TOLD I COULD BRING THE TRUCK IN THE HAVE THE POWER TRAIN MODULE "REPROGRAMMED". THIS WAS DONE AT NO COST BUT I WAS TOLD THIS WAS ALL THEY COULD DO FOR ME AT THIS TIME. THE NEXT DAY IN THE EVENING, THE TRUCK DOWNSHIFTED TO SECOND GEAR WHILE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY DOING 55 MILES AN HOUR. THE ROAD WAS WET AND STARTING TO FREEZE. I NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BUT WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL. THE TRUCK RETURNED TO NORMAL AFTER THIS. AS OF 2/20/19, NO FURTHER CONTACT HAS BEEN MADE WITH FORD REGARDING THE ISSUE. I WILL BE CALLING TOMORROW TO CUSTOMER CARE ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND DEMANDING A RENTAL CAR UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS IS RELATED TO RECALL 19S07. THE TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR IS REPORTED TO BE LOSING COMMUNICATION WITH THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE, CAUSING A DOWNSHIFT.

UPON CONTACTING FORD MOTOR COMPANY, I WAS INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE THE SPECIFIC VIN NUMBER THAT MATCHED WITH THEIR CASES. MY VEHICLE FITS THE RECALL DESCRIPTIONS WITH MAKE, MODEL, YEAR, AND EVEN MANUFACTURING LOCATION AND HAS THE EXACT ISSUES THAT THESE RECALLS ARE ABOUT. THE FIRST RECALL IS FORD RECALL 16S19 : UNEXPECTED TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFT THIS WILL CAUSE MY VEHICLE TO RANDOMLY DOWNSHIFT MULTIPLE GEARS. WHEN IT SHIFTS DOWN IT ALSO CAUSES THE REAR TIRES ARE LOCK UP AND I HAVE LOST CONTROL MOMENTARILY TRYING TO DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS ALSO CAUSES WEAR AND TEAR ON THE DRIVETRAIN. SHIFTING THE MOTOR FROM 5TH GEAR TO 1ST IMMEDIATELY SENDS THE MOTOR INTO A DANGEROUS RPM RANGE CAUSING DAMAGE. THE SECOND RECALL IS FORD TSB 13-6-8: THIS CAUSES ME TO LOSE ALL INDICATION ON MY GAUGES EXCEPT FOR RPM' S. I LOSE INDICATION ON MY CURRENT SPEED RANDOMLY AND ALSO ON ALL OF MY CRITICAL ENGINE TEMPERATURES AND PRESSURES. THIS ALSO LOCKS THE TRANSMISSION INTO 5TH GEAR, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SLOW DOWN PROPERLY AND ACCELERATE FROM A STOP OR SLOW SPEED. THESE TWO ISSUES COMBINE MAKES THE VEHICLE A DANGER TO DRIVE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE ANYMORE TAKING THIS VEHICLE ANYWHERE AND CANNOT TRUST IT. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY BOTH LOCALLY AND AT ITS HEADQUARTERS. THEIR REPLY IS THAT THEY HAVE TO FIX IT. I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND GUIDE THE TRUCK OFF THE ROADWAY. HOWEVER, THIS TIME UPON RESTART THE TRUCK, WHILE PARKED, WAS CONTINUOUSLY REVVING AT ABOUT 6,000RPM'S. UPON A SECOND RESTART IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL OPERATION. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, CAVALIER FORD CHESAPEAKE SQUARE, AND SPOKE WITH LINDSAY GIVENS WHO TOLD ME IT WOULD BE A "HOT MINUTE" BEFORE SOMEONE COULD LOOK AT MY TRUCK. I DROPPED IT OFF AFTER HOURS THAT NIGHT (07/20/18) WITH A WRITTEN DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEMS. I WAS LATER CONTACTED ON 07/24/18, BY PHIL CAUSEY, SAYING THEY WERE GOING TO TAKE A LOOK AT MY TRUCK THE FOLLOWING DAY. I NEVER HEARD ANYMORE AND UPON CALLING THE DEALERSHIP ON 07/27/18, AND SPEAKING TO TANYA HOWARD, I WAS ADVISED MY TRUCK STILL HADN'T BEEN LOOKED AT AND PHIL WAS OFF UNTIL THE FOLLOWING WEEK. ON 07/31/18 I RECEIVED A CALL FROM PHIL AND HE STATED THAT WHILE THEY WERE DRIVING MY TRUCK AROUND IT GOT STUCK IN FIRST GEAR ON THEM AS WELL, AND THEY LOCATED THE PROBLEM IN THE LEADFRAME OF MY TRANSMISSION. THE DIAGNOSTICS SHOWS MY TRUCK READ CODES P0722 AND P072. THE VEHICLE WOULD DOWNSHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR WITHOUT WARNING, HAS OCCURRED WHEN VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO REMAIN IN 1ST GEAR AFTER THESE INCIDENTS AND INTERMITTENTLY WHEN LEAVING FROM A STOP, AT AN INTERSECTION. VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES, IN WHICH CASE THE DASHBOARD DISPLAYED AN ILLUMINATED MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT AND GONE INTO LIMP MODE, WITH ONLY 5TH GEAR AVAILABLE, WHILE IN AN INTERSECTION. THIS PROBLEM WOULD ALSO CAUSE THE ODOMETER TO READ '-------.--' AND THE SPEEDOMETER TO READ '0 MPH', EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, TRAVELLING AT ANY SPEED. VEHICLE IS IN OTHERWISE PERFECT OPERATING CONDITIONS. DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE P0720 WAS DISPLAYED DURING THESE INCIDENTS. THE MANUFACTURER HAS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 16N02 FOR 'CERTAIN' VEHICLES, IN WHICH THE DEALERS ARE REPLACE THE MOLDED LEAD FRAME WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. IN THE CASE OF MY VEHICLE, THIS PROGRAM DID NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME, THE MOLDED LEAD FRAME WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE AND SUBSEQUENTLY REPLACED. WITH MY VEHICLE NOT APPLYING FOR THE NOTED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM, WITH THE SAME FAULTY PART AS NOTED WITHIN THE SPECIFIC CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM, IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE AFFECTED VEHICLES WITH DEFICIENT MOLDED LEAD FRAMES IS FAR GREATER THAN WHAT WAS INITIALLY THOUGHT AND THEREFORE, THE RECALL PROGRAM SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO ALL F-150S AND SIMILAR VEHICLES WITHIN THE SPECIFIED BUILD DATES, AS NOTED WITHIN THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. THE MOLDED LEAD FRAME FAILURE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND CAUSES SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS FOR THE DRIVERS OF THOSE VEHICLES AND TO THE TRAVELLING PUBLIC.

GEARS FLASH ON AND OFF, THEN THE ACCELERATOR SLOWS DOWN. GOES INTO NUETRAL AUTOMATICALLY. RANDOMLY SHIFTS BETWEEN GEARS CAUSING TRUCK TO PICK UP SPEED OR DRASTICALLY LOSE SPEED WITHOUT WARNING. SHIFTS VERY HARD AS WELL. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AS WELL AS ON THE HIGHWAY. SEEMS TO HAPPEN EVERYTIME I DRIVE ABOVE 65MPH, BUT OCCASIONALLY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. THE RANDOM SHIFTING OF GEARS HAPPENED FIRST AROUND 4 YEARS AGO, BUT HAS BEEN A SAFETY RISK FOR THE LAST 5-6 MONTHS DUE TO THE INCREASE IN IT HAPPENING.

THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS BUT MOST RECENTLY WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 70 MPH MY TRUCK WENT INTO FIRST GEAR AND LOCKED UP MY TRUCK REAR END. I SLID ONTO THE BERM OF THE ROAD AND ALMOST DOWN A HILL. THE DREADED WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, THE SPEEDOMETER WENT INOPERABLE, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK WENT INTO SORT OF A LIMP MODE AND DROVE REAL WEIRD. THE CODE WAS A P0720 OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSOR. OF COURSE MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS A 2012, BUILT IN DEARBORN WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION AS THE RECALLED ONES, GO FIGURE! I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH SHARPNACK FORD IN WILLARD OHIO THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW WITH THE TRUCK WHERE I WILL PAY $1000 TO GET THE LEAD BODY IN THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. THIS IS TOTALLY RIDICULOUS THAT ALL VIN'S FOR 2012 ARE NOT COVERED. I OWN THREE FORDS AND I AM STARTING TO WONDER WHY!

WHEN I START THE TRUCK I HAVE TO LET IT IDLE AND WARM UP FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES. IF I DO NOT LET THE TRUCK WARM-UP AND I PUT IT IN GEAR THE BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY FIRM AND THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSES LIKE THE ABS SYSTEM IS KICKING ON BUT THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP. RECENTLY, THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP IF CRUISE CONTROL IS TURNED ON. IF CRUISE CONTROL IS ON AND I PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL THE BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY FIRM AND CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT TURN OFF AND THE TRUCK WILL NOT SLOW DOWN. I HAVE TO MANUALLY TURN OFF CRUISE CONTROL FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AND THEN THE BRAKES WILL WORK AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 44 IN OKLAHOMA WHEN I TRIED TO HIT THE BRAKES AND THE TRUCK DID NOT STOP. BEFORE I LEFT ON THE ROAD TRIP I LET THE TRUCK WARM-UP SO THAT THE BRAKES WOULD WORK WHEN I FIRST LEFT THE DRIVEWAY.

THE VEHICLE, DRIVING LINEARLY AT 35 MPH, LOCKED INTO 3RD GEAR AND WENT INTO SAFE OPERATING MODE WITH ALMOST NO ACCELERATION. THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AND A WRENCH LIGHT FAULT CODE APPEARED ON THE SCREEN. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO FIRST OR SECOND GEAR OR REGAIN ACCELERATION, EVEN WHEN STATIONARY, PARK, OR AFTER RESTARTING. THE VEHICLE IS AN EARLY 2012 PRODUCTION PICKUP FROM THE DEARBORN, MICHIGAN PLANT, MATCHING THE RECALL CRITERIA FOR NHTSA (16V-248) AND FORD (16S19) BUT THE VIN DOES NOT APPEAR IN REFERENCE TO THE RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION LEAD FRAME. THE DEALER REFUSED TO HONOR ANY WARRANTY FOR THIS RECALLED DEFECTIVE PART. THE VEHICLE IS DEALER STOCK / UNMODIFIED AND PRESENTLY HAS 71,000 MILES.

SOME OCCASIONS WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED THE SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS IS EXTREMELY ROUGH. THESE OCCASIONS HAVE HAPPENED WHILE IN MOTION, ON CITY STREETS, ON HIGHWAYS, AND ENTERING OR EXITING HIGHWAYS.

WHEN CRUISE CONTROL IS ON, IT CANCELS IT OUT AUTOMATICALLY. I HAVE HAD ON TIME WHEN THE MIL WRENCH APPEARED BRIEFLY AND ALL NUMBERS ON THE CENTER SCREEN WENT TO DASHES UNTIL A RESTART OF THE ENGINE. I HAVE SPOKE TO DEALERS AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND LOOKED ON THE NHTSA SITE AND ALL HAVE TOLD ME THAT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE RECALL STATES THE AFFECTED DATES ARE FEBRUARY 11,2011 TO SEPTEMBER 8, 2012 AT THE DEARBORN PLANT. MY TRUCK WAS BUILT ON AUGUST 2, 2012 AT DEARBORN. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE AN ANSWER FROM ANYONE AS TO WHY MY TRUCK IS NOT INCLUDED WHEN IT MEETS THE DEADLINE BY OVER A MONTH.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE AT 3 MPH, THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER STRUCK A POLE. THE DRIVER THEN SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. ON THE WAY TO THE CONTACT'S HOME, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME FULLY DEPRESSED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.

THIS HAPPENS ATLEAST ONCE DAILY, SOMETIMES MORE THAN ONCE DAILY. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN TRUCK IS IN MOTION. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT SPEED AS IT HAS HAPPENS AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND ON ONE OCCASION WHEN I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF STOPPING FOR A RED LIGHT. THE LAST OCCURRENCE HAPPENED TODAY, BUT IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE IT DOES HAPPEN LESS, MAYBE ONCE WEEKLY INSTEAD OF MULTIPLE TIMES DAILY WHEN THE WEATHER IS WARM OUTSIDE.

THIS IS APPARENTLY A KNOWN ISSUE ON 2015/2016 MODEL YEARS, BUT NOT ON 2012'S. THE DEALER SAID IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM AND FORD HAS RECALLED NEWER TRUCKS BECAUSE OF IT.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AS HE TRIED TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE, HE FLOORED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BUT THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK OFF THE MAIN INTERSTATE AND INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HE LET THE TRUCK SIT IN THE OFF POSITION FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES AND THEN HE RE-STARTED THE TRUCK. AT THAT POINT, HE WAS SLOWLY ABLE TO ACCELERATE WHILE IN THE EMERGENCY LANE, TO A SPEED THAT ALLOWED HIM TO RE-ENTER THE INTERSTATE. ALL ATTEMPTS TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY FAILED AND IT WOULD ONLY ACCELERATE GRADUALLY AT SLOWER THEN NORMAL SPEEDS. HE CONTINUED HIS TRIP WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON AND AT HIS FIRST OPPORTUNITY HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE CONSUMER SAYING THEY HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE TRUCK PERFORMED WELL FOR THE NEXT YEAR WITHOUT ANY INCIDENTS, THERE WERE NO OCCASIONS WHERE QUICK ACCELERATION WAS REQUIRED. IN OCTOBER 2013, HE MADE ANOTHER TRIP, AND THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED. I WAS RESEARCHING ON FORUMS AND THEY COMMONLY HAVE TO REPLACE NOT ONLY CAT BUT HAVE TO CHANGE INTERCOOLER, CHANGE PLUGS AND RE-FLASH ECU AND OR PLACE A DEFLECTION PLATE ON CURRENT INTERCOOLER BUT HOME TOWN DEALER ONLY REPLACE CAT, I DON'T THINK THIS WILL FIX ISSUE. PLEASE PUSH FORD TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE, FOR EXPERIENCE THIS NEEDS TO BE CLASSIFIED AS A RECALL BECAUSE SAFETY ISSUE IS INVOLVED WHEN YOU LOST POWER WHEN IS NEED IT. AGAIN, I WORKED THE THROTTLE TO NO AVAIL. THE TRUCK FINALLY RECOVERED BUT STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY AGAIN. AS BEFORE, IT SMOOTHED OUT. THERE WAS A SLOW CAR IN FRONT OF ME SO I GOT IN THE ON COMING TRAFFICS LANE TO PASS THE CAR, BUT WHEN I STOMPED ON THE GAS PEDAL THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. MY TRUCK WOULDN'T ACCELERATE SO I PUSHED IT A FEW MORE TIMES AND STILL NOTHING. THERE WAS A CAR COMING AND I ALMOST GOT HIT HEAD ON BECAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT AND PROBABLY WOULD'VE BEEN BADLY INJURED HAD I NOT GOTTEN BACK IN MY LANE JUST BEFORE THE CAR PASSED. THE ENGINE RETURNED TO NORMAL AFTER ABOUT 20 SECONDS AND I WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE AND FINALLY GET AROUND THE CAR. THIS IS ONLY 1 OF THE 5 TIMES IT HAS HAPPENED IN THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE, ITS HAPPENED TO ME THREE TIMES, AND TWICE WHEN I'VE LOANED THE TRUCK TO MY FATHER. I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER IN MY 2012 FORD F150 SUPER CREW WITH ECOBOOST ENGINE.. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES ON 11-22-13 AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS, I WAS UNABLE TO PASS SLOWER VEHICLES THAT WERE RUNNING BELOW THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT. EACH TIME I TRIED TO ACCELERATE PAST IN THE PASSING LANE THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND IT WAS AS THOUGH I HAD RUN OUT OF FUEL. AS SOON AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE TRUCK WOULD RUN AGAIN. THE 3RD TIME THIS HAPPENED A SEMI TRUCK WAS BARRELING UP BEHIND ME AND THERE WAS A SEMI ON THE SIDE OF ME, I NOTICED THE SEMI BESIDE ME MOVING INTO MY LANE AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE TO GET CLEAR AND THE SEMI BEHIND ME ALMOST RAN ME DOWN AS MY VEHICLE LOST POWER AND I HAD TO PULL OVER. THIS TIME I HAD TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART IT FOR THE VEHICLE TO RUN RIGHT AGAIN. AFTER THE 3RD TIME MY TRUCK WENT FROM GETTING 18 MPG TO 12.3 MPG AND RAN ROUGH AS THOUGH IT WAS CUTTING OUT. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP IN A RIGHT HAND TURN, THE TRUCK LOST POWER AND BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND MISFIRE. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THIS F-150 OFF ROAD 4X4 WITH ECOBOOST SINCE I PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW. I ONLY JUST LEARNED OF YOUR INVESTIGATION SO MY MEMORY ON EXACT DATES AND MILEAGE MAY BE OFF BY A FEW WEEKS. I DID TAKE MY TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALER TO REPORT MY INCIDENT SO THEY SHOULD SHOULD HAVE A RECORD OF THIS AND THE WORK THEY PERFORMED (BAIERL FORD, ZELIENOPLE, PA 16063). MY 2012 F150 WITH THE 3.5L ECOBOOST WAS ABOUT 6 MONTHS OLD AT THE TIME. I WAS PASSING A COAL TRUCK UPHILL ON A 10% GRADE. I WAS NOT TOWING, NOR DID I HAVE A LOAD IN THE BED. HE WAS GOING ABOUT 30 MPH. I EASED OUT AND GOT ALONG SIDE RUNNING NOW AT ABOUT 50-55, THEN 'PUNCHED' THE THROTTLE TO COMPLETE THE PASS. THAT DID NOT TURN OUT WELL. THE ENGINE CUT OUT EXACTLY LIKE A REVERSE LIMITER ON AN ATV AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I BARELY WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE THE PASS, AND WAS 'PUSHED' UP THE HILL BY THE COAL TRUCK, ENGINE RUNNING IN THAT CUT-OUT MODE ALL THE WAY. GOT OVER THE TOP AND IT CONTINUED TO RUN LIKE THIS DOWN THE OTHER SIDE. AFTER ABOUT 6 MILES, IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OUT. TOOK IT TO MY DEALER NOT TOO LONG AFTER. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP IT INTO A FORD DEALER, WHO HAD TO PERFORM EXTENSIVE ENGINE REPAIRS IN ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK RUNNING AGAIN. WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT BACK TO TENNESSEE, AFTER 3 WEEKS OF REPAIRS, IT HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES. WHEN I ATTEMPT TO PASS SLOWER VEHICLES, I TRY TO ACCELERATE AND THERE IS NO POWER. IT IS DANGEROUS, PARTICULAR WHEN TRAVELING ON 2 LANE COUNTRY ROADS WITH HILLS. OFTEN, WHEN I PARK AND EXIT THE TRUCK, THERE IS A STRONG ODOR OF GAS COMING FROM SOMEWHERE UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD. ON 2 OCCASIONS, THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAS COME UNATTACHED FROM THE FLOOR OF THE TRUCK. THIS MORNING, I WENT TO TAKE MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL I WAS DRIVING AND HEARD/FELT THUMPING AND THE SEAT FELL BACK, I WAS NEARLY LAYING ON MY BACK, WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. WHILE ACCELERATING ON AN ON-RAMP TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ON I-90, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE VIBRATED VERY HARD, THE ENGINE THEN LOST POWER, CAUSING ELECTRIC TO SHUT DOWN, AND UNCONTROLLED DECELERATION TO OCCUR. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH. ONCE I RELEASED THE PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL, AND PULLED OFF THE INTERSTATE TO AVOID ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THE POWER RETURNED AND THE ENGINE RESPONDED AGAIN. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE PROBLEM AND WAS REPLACED. NOTIFIED FORD REGIONAL SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT CONCERNS THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, HE RESPONDED THAT THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY, AND NOTHING ELSE COULD BE DONE DESPITE ACKNOWLEDGING THAT WE COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT DUE TO THE ENGINE FAILURE. ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED, AND APPARENTLY THE COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS NOT UPDATED AS REQUIRED. AFTER THE UPDATE, IT WORKED FINE. IN DECEMBER 2012, SIMILAR SYMPTOMS OCCURRED AND THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED IT WAS THE COIL IN ENGINE 4 AS THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE FIRST INCIDENT 6/28/13, WHEN ACCELERATING TO GET ONTO A HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING SOMEWHERE BEFORE 60 AND LOST ALL POWER. THE SPEEDOMETER PEGGED AT 60 AND THE RPMS JUMPED TO REDLINE, BUT THERE WAS NO POWER BEING PRODUCED. THE VEHICLE TOOK AT NOSE DIVE AND WOULD NOT ALLOW FUEL TO THE ENGINE UNTIL THE RPMS SETTLED TO IDLE AND I WAS ABLE TO FEATHER THE GAS PEDAL IN ORDER TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE ENGINE. THE SECOND INCIDENT 8/9/13, WHEN GOING TO PASS SOMEONE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON I-95 THE VEHICLE FELL FLAT AGAIN, SAME SCENARIO, THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. SAME ACTIONS AS ABOVE, WITH FEATHERING THE GAS PEDAL AND ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE ENGINE. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE INTERCOOLER WAS REPLACED AT 7600 MILES. THANKFULLY THERE WERE NO ACCIDENTS IN BOTH SCENARIOS, THESE EVENTS COULD'VE BEEN CATASTROPHIC BOTH BEING ON HEAVILY TRAVELED HIGHWAYS. AT 500 MILES I HAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND ONE OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TR

WE WERE DRIVING ON I5 SOUTH IN CALIFORNIA WITH OUR CRUISE CONTROL SET FOR 70 MPH. WE WERE COMING INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC SO HIT THE BUTTON TO END CRUISE. IT DIDN'T WORK SO MY HUSBAND HIT THE BRAKE AND IT DIDN'T DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL. IF MY HUSBAND WOULD PRESS THE BRAKE, IT WOULD SLOW DOWN BUT WHEN HE TOOK HIS FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, IT WOULD ACCELERATE UP TO 90 MPH. THERE WERE BIG TRUCKS ALL AROUND US AND OTHER VEHICLES AND WE COULDN'T MAKE IT TO AN OFF RAMP FOR 5 MILES. WHEN WE DID, MY HUSBAND SLOWED THE TRUCK ENOUGH TO PUT IT IN PARK BUT THE ENGINE REVVED SUPER HIGH AND WE SHUT IT OFF. WE TURNED IT BACK ON A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE WE TOOK OFF TO FINISH OUR TRIP. WE DID NOT USE THE CRUISE CONTROL AGAIN FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP. WE TOOK OUR FORD TO THE DEALER THAT MONDAY AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL. SINCE I PURCHASED MY TRUCK THERE HAS BEEN SEVEN DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHERE I HAVE ACCELERATED TO ENTER AN INTERSTATE OR PASS A VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK IN AND THEY HAVE REPLACED PARTS AND SAID IT WAS REPAIRED. THIS PAST WEEKEND I WAS ENTERING THE INTERSTATE IN A CONSTRUCTION AREA WHERE BARRIERS WERE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE INTERSTATE. I ACCELERATED TO ENTER THE INTERSTATE AND THERE WERE CARS AND A SEMI APPROACHING WHERE I ENTERED. I ACCELERATED TO GET UP TO SPEED WITH TRAFFIC AND THE TRUCK STALLED AND WOULD NOT TAKE FUEL. THE APPROACHING SEMI COULD NOT STOP IN TIME AND HAD TO SWERVE TO MISS ME. HE MISSED HITTING ME BY INCHES AND ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR. WITH THE BARRIERS IN PLACE I COULD NOT GET OFF THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE TRUCK STALLED. I HAVE THE ECO-BOOST ENGINE AND THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER. THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING THAT IS CAUSING THE FAILURE. I WAS TRAVELING SOUTH IN THE OUTSIDE LANE ON I 95 (FLORIDA) DURING HEAVY RAIN, APPROACHING A SLOWER MOVING VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I CHANGED LANES AND ACCELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, BEGAN TO MISFIRE AND RAPIDLY DECELERATED. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TRAVELING IN RAINY CONDITIONS AT HIGHWAY SPEED FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR. SINCE I HAD COMMITTED TO MAKE THE OVERTAKING MANEUVER AND FOR THE FEW SECONDS I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND/OR PULL BACK INTO MY ORIGINAL LANE AS I WAS TRAVELING ADJACENT TO THE VEHICLE I WAS OVERTAKING, I REALIZED THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER VEHICLE FAST APPROACHING ME IN THE INSIDE (FAST/OVER TAKING) LANE. LUCKILY THE DRIVER WAS OBSERVANT ENOUGH TO RELEASE OF THE IMPENDING COLLISION A HEAD IF HE DID NOT TAKE EVASIVE ACTION AND SLOW DOWN. AFTER A FEW SECONDS I WAS ABLE TO PULL BACK INTO OUTSIDE/SLOW LANE. I HAD THE TSB (FOR KNOWN SURGING ISSUE) PERFORMED ON MY TRUCK (2012 SUPER CREW 4X4) IN MAY AT 25K MILES. EVERYTHING SEEMED BETTER, UNTIL... THIS PAST SATURDAY, I LEFT THE HOUSE AT 5AM FOR A 7.5 HOUR/ 350 MILE DRIVE FROM HOME. IT WAS RAINING CONTINUOUSLY FOR THE FIRST TWO HOURS. SOMETIMES HARD RAIN, BUT IT DIDN'T STOP FOR THE FIRST 2 HOURS. I WAS DRIVING BACK COUNTRY ROADS WITH MOSTLY 55 MPH LIMITS AND ROLLING HILLS. GIVEN THE WEATHER, TYPE OF ROADS, TIME OF DAY, ETC. I DROVE GENTLY FOR THE TRIP, NEVER PUT MY FOOT IN IT. THEN, WHEN GOING UP A STEEPER HILL THAT REQUIRED MORE THROTTLE THAN THE OTHERS TO KEEP MY SPEED UP, THE TRUCK STARTED HESITATING. A LOT. MORE THAN IT EVER HAD BEFORE THE TSB. AND THEN, JUST AFTER THE HESITATION BEGAN, SOMETHING EXTRA OCCURRED THAT HAD NEVER HAPPENED TO IT BEFORE. THE TRUCK STARTED TO SHUDDER. THIS SHUDDERING WAS AKIN TO DRIVING OVER ROAD SHOULDER RUMBLE STRIPS ON STEROIDS. AS SOON AS I LET OFF THE GAS, THE SHUDDERING STOPPED. I GENTLY PUSHED THE PEDAL, SHUDDERING WAS BACK AND JUST AS BAD. LET OFF AGAIN. IT STOPPED. PUSHED THE PEDAL AGAIN. IT CAME BACK. PUSHED THE THROTTLE ONCE MORE, AND IT HAD STOPPED. I SLOWLY PUSHED FURTHER ON THE THROTTLE AND IT DIDN'T DO IT ANY LONGER. BY THIS TIME I WAS DOWN TO ABOUT 35-40 MPH GOING UP THE HILL. SO I PUSHED DOWN THE PEDAL ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK KICKED DOWN AND ACCELERATED WITH ONLY SLIGHT MOMENTS OF HESITATION. WHILE TRAVELING TO FLORIDA FROM TENNESSEE WE HAD STOPPED AT A GAS STATION. WHILE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND ACCELERATING, THE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY DUE TO MISFIRE INDICATED BY FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE MISS WAS SO BAD THAT I IMMEDIATELY HAD TO PULL OVER. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF TO CLEAR THE ON BOARD COMPUTER. THE TRUCK RAN FINE AFTERWARD, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. THIS WAS A BIT SCARY AS WE COULD HAVE BEEN HIT DUE TO THE RAPID LOSS OF POWER WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE VERY RAINY. WE HAD DRIVEN THRU RAIN FOR ~7 HOURS OFF AND ON. DRIVING TURNPIKE AT 1:30AM WITH WET ROADS BUT NOT RAINING. CRUISE CONTROL WAS ENGAGED AT 75 MPH. APPROACHING A BRIDGE AND UPON STARTING TO CLIMB ON THE INCLINE I HEARD A NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION HAD DISENGAGED THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED PULSATING ON AND OFF SO I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND THE TRUCK DID NOT REACT BUT SINCE I WAS GOING 75 IT TOOK ME OVER THE BRIDGE AND THEN I COASTED DOWN THE BRIDGE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE AND PLACED TRUCK IN PARK THE ENGINE WAS STILL ON. I TURNED OFF THE TRUCK AND WAITED ABOUT 1 MINUTE THEN I TURNED THE KEY BACK ON AND THE TRUCK STARTED UP WITH NO ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY SIGN OF PROBLEMS. I DROVE ALL THE WAY TO MIAMI WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENTS. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO FORD OF HOMESTEAD AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT PULL A CODE OUT OF THE COMPUTER THAT SHOWED ANYTHING HAD HAPPENED. I LATER TOOK THE TRUCK AGAIN THIS TIME MAKING NOISES WHEN U ACCELERATED IT SOUNDED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHUDDERING AND AGAIN NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO REPLICATE IT. AGAIN ON OR AROUND MARCH 2013 I TOOK THE TRUCK TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER AND TRIED TO REPLICATE THE SHUDDERING BETWEEN 3 OR 4 TH GEAR TO NO AVAIL. THE TRUCK THIS PAST WEEKEND ON THE SAME BRIDGE AGAIN WITH WET ROADS MADE THE SHUDDERING SOUND AND FEELING BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON AND THE TRUCK UPON GETTING TO THE TOP OF THE BRIDGE CONTINUED WITHOUT HAVING TO BE TURNED OFF AND ON. AT FIRST I THOUGHT THIS MIGHT BE A TRANSMISSION ISSUE BUT WHENEVER I GUESS THE TRUCK ACCELERATES TO GAIN SPEED TO GO OVER THE BRIDGE OR AFTER LEAVING A STOP OR RED LIGHT BETWEEN 3 OR 4 TH GEARS IT SHUDDERS AND WHEN THE BRIDGE COMES AROUND IT GOES TO A LOWER GEAR AND STARTS LOSING POWER. HALFWAY THRU THE PASS, PASSING SPEED 65-70 MPH, MY TRUCK LOST ALL POWER AND STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I BACKED OFF THE ACCELERATOR, AND PULLED BACK IN BEHIND THE TRACTOR-TRAILER, THEN OFF TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, OPENED THE HOOD, EXPECTING TO SEE SOMETHING BAD. NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF ANYTHING WRONG. STARTED THE ENGINE, DROVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME, WITH NO OTHER MIS-HAPS. HOWEVER, THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TWICE MORE, THE MOST RECENT BEING JUST A FEW DAYS AGO, 6-10-13. EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, IT HAS BEEN DURING AN ATTEMPT TO PASS A SLOWER VEHICLE, DURING A HARD ACCELERATION. I'M TYPICALLY A VERY CONSERVATIVE DRIVER, AND BOUGHT THIS TRUCK WITH THIS ENGINE FOR BOTH FUEL ECONOMY AND POWER TO PULL A TRAILER. ON THE FIRST AND THIRD OCCURRENCE, I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE, WITH TRAFFIC GOING THE SAME DIRECTION. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS ON A SLIGHT UPGRADE ON A 2-LANE ROAD, AND ATTEMPTED TO PASS A MUCH SLOWER VEHICLE. AFTER PURCHASING THIS 2012 F150 W/ECOBOOST V-6, I WANTED TO SEE HOW GOOD OF GAS MILEAGE I COULD GET OUT OF IT. I ALSO WANTED TO BREAK THE VEHICLE IN BEFORE ANY HARD ACCELERATIONS. THE ROAD HAD NARROWED FROM A 4 LANE HIGHWAY TO A 2 LANE. I WAS STUCK BEHIND A VEHICLE TRAVELING JUST ABOVE 50 MPH. I REACHED A PASSING ZONE AND DECIDED TO TEST THE PERFORMANCE OF THE ENGINE/TRUCK. AMID THE BLOWING OF AIR HORNS AND MY WIFE'S SCREAMS I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO AVOID A COLLISION BY YANKING THE TRUCK ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. I HAVE BEEN A MECHANIC AND AN ENGINEER FOR A LOT OF YEARS, I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THIS TIME AND IT CAME VERY CLOSE TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND/ OR INJURY TO MY WIFE AND ME. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET AT 45 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE JERKED ABNORMALLY. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET TO 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD EXHIBIT A LOUD NOISE IN THE REAR AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CHARGE AIR COOLER HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED AND THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS NORMAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,600.

ON A 500 MILE TRIP FROM VA TO NYC DURING RAINY WEATHER, ENGINE STALLED UPON ACCELERATION ON 6 OCCASIONS. REPRODUCIBLE AFTER DRIVING AT CONSTANT SPEED FOR AN HOUR, OR SO, AND THEN ACCELERATING TO PASS A VEHICLE OR ENTER A FREEWAY. ABSOLUTELY SCARY AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I HAD SEVERAL SUCH INCIDENCES FROM DAY 1 OF OWNERSHIP AND I ALREADY FILED A SIMILAR REPORT IN JULY 2012 (#10465748). NEVER HAPPENS DURING DRY WEATHER. FORD APPLIED THE DEFLECTOR SHIELD AND REPROGRAMMING, WHICH DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM AT ALL, BUT NOTICEABLY REDUCED THE ENGINE POWER, LEADING TO SHUDDER IN 6TH GEAR WHEN GOING UPHILL AT 60 MPH (APPARENTLY DUE TO A LACK OF ENOUGH TORQUE; SHUDDER DISAPPEARS WHEN SWITCHING DOWN TO 5TH GEAR). GAS MILEAGE IS DOWN TO 15-16 MPG AT CONSTANT SPEED OF 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY, FAR FROM THE ADVERTISED NUMBERS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON DURING YESTERDAYS NIGHTMARE STALLING EVENTS AND THE TRUCK GOES BACK INTO THE SHOP SHORTLY. $55,000 TRUCK THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN IN BAD WEATHER - AND EVERY FORD DEALER DECLINES HAVING "EVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM". SEEING ALL THE COMPLAINTS IN THIS DATABASE AND ON F150 FORUMS, I THINK IT IS TIME FOR FORD TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM PUBLICLY AND COME UP WIT A FIX VIAL RECALL. *TR

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC PULLING A TRAILER I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL AND THE TRUCK DOWN SHIFTED BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE TRUCK WILL DROP INTO 3RD GEAR AND WILL NOT EXCEED 4000 RPM. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3 OR 4 TIMES. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WITHOUT A TRAILER. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE TRUCK OFF TO GET IT TO GO. SOMETIMES I CAN JUST COME OFF THE PEDAL AND PRESS IT AGAIN TO CORRECT. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALER HAS REPROGRAMMED THE TRUCK SEVERAL TIMES AND REPLACED THE CONVERTERS TWICE. I HAVE ASKED FORD TO BUY BACK THE TRUCK BUT THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED YET. WAS DRIVING AT 60MPH, ACCELERATED A LITTLE AND VEHICLE SHUDDERED/HESITATED AND DIDN'T ACCELERATE, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED, THEN BECAME SOLID. TOOK TO FORD DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD A CALIBRATION UPDATE FIXED THE PROBLEM. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED 3 DAYS LATER. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP, IT HAS BEEN THERE FOR 3 DAYS AND THEY STATE "ARE WAITING FOR FORD TO ADVISE THEM ON WHAT TO DO NEXT." THIS IS A 2012 FORD F150 ECOBOOST LARIAT 4X4 SUPERCREW WITH ONLY 5,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS A STICKER OF NEARLY $50,000. I WOULD EXPECT NO PROBLEMS OR AT LEAST A TIMELY SOLUTION. HAD CRUISE CONTROL SET ON 59MPH......CAME UPON SLOW MOVING VEHICLES AND HIT ACCELERATOR TO PASS REACHING 80MPH....MADE PASS.....TOOK FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR TO SLOW DOWN, NOTHING HAPPENED WITH VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY AT 80MPH....HIT BRAKE....NO REACTION STILL 80MPH...HOT THE CRUISE OFF BUTTON ON STEERING WHEEL, STILL NO REACTION.....HAD TO PHYSICALLY FORCE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW VEHICLE DOWN TO A STOP, HOWEVER ENGINE REMAINED AT HIGH THROTTLE UNTIL I COULD TURN IGNITION OFF.......WAITED A FEW MINUTES...TURNED VEHICLE BACK ON AND VEHICLE ACTED NORMALLY....TESTED CRUISE CONTROL A COUPLE TIMES BEFORE MAKING IT HOME...NO PROBLEMS....THIS WAS AND COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION HAD THERE BEEN TRAFFIC ON THIS HIGHWAY...THANK GOD IT WAS AROUND 11 PM.....BRAND NEW TRUCK...HAD FOR TWO WEEKS.......REPORTING TO FORD SERVICE TOMM MORN. *TR

AFTER USING CRUISE CONTROL FOR 1 HOUR ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH DURING HIGH HUMIDITY EARLY IN THE MORNING I TRY TO ACCELERATE AND THE MOTOR LOSES ALL POWER. I HAD TSB 12-6-4 APPLIED TO THE VEHICLE FRIDAY, THREE DAYS AGO, AND THOUGH IT MAY REDUCE THE LIKELIHOOD OF THIS SITUATION, IT DOES NOT OVERCOME WHAT APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE INTERCOOLER IN THIS ECOBOOST MOTOR. THIS FLAW ALLOWS FOR CONDENSATED WATER TO BE SUCKED INTO THE MOTOR AND CAUSING THE MISFIRE DURING HARD ACCELERATIONS AFTER LONG PERIODS OF USING CRUISE CONTROL IN HIGH HUMIDITY SITUATION. WHILE DRIVING A BRAND NEW 2012 FORD F-150 W/ 3.5L V6 ECO-BOOST I WAS ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO INTERSTATE WHILE TOWING A SMALL BOAT TRAILER WHEN I LOST TOWING POWER (RPM DROPPED INSTANTLY FROM ~4000 TO ~2000 RPM DESPITE HAVING ACCELERATOR DEPRESSED) AND THE ENTIRE TRUCK STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING.
