I was driving about 55 mph when suddenly my 2013 truck down shifted to either first or third gear and I barely was able to control it to get off the road. The truck just bowed up and the vehicle behind me almost hit me. The speedometer stopped working and a wrench icon appeared. I tried to take off and the truck was stuck in third gear. Ford dealership said they would fix it if it was the OSS sensor. I paid to have it towed and they charged me over 2,000. There was a safety recall 24S37 on the 2014 with the 6R80 transmission the same kind my truck has. My 2013 did exactly the same thing as the 2014 and I believe it should have a safety recall. There was a extended warranty or something either 10 years or 150,000. My truck has 130,000. I talked to Ford customer satisfaction but they have done nothing. I told them I was going to report it.

I was driving on [XXX] in Georgia. I was going around 75 mph and my transmission dropped from 6th gear to 1st Gear my speed dropped from around 75 mph to 25 mph in less than a second. My safety and the safety of other vehicles/people were put in danger, I almost lost control of my steering and hit somebody in the right lane next to me. Three Vehicles behind me had to slam on their brakes and swerve around me to avoid rear ending me. When the vehicles transmission dropped gears rapidly, at the same time I got a gear wrench symbol across my cluster display, and I lost functionality of the vehicles mph gauge and gas gauge. The fasten seatbelt light was also on but no audible warning tone was heard.. The vehicle also lost acceleration power. I was able to get the vehicle home and turned the car on and off and everything went back to normal. This is an intermittent issue with no warning when it will happen. There was a recall from ford for a programming issue with the tranny and currently a CSP with campaign #19N01 for a Transmission molded leadframe extended coverage. Basically the lead frame needs to be replaced to correct the problem which is 4,000 to 6,000 dollars. Ford will not fix my lead frame because I am past certain dates and over the mileage by 2,200 miles. I also needed to be displaying symptoms and the code for ford to fix the issue if I was within dates and mileage. I didn’t display any codes or symptoms until I was 2,200 miles over the CSP warranty coverage. I also just bought the truck in September of 2024 and was not aware of this issue. Driving on highway when a felt a slight jerk in the steering wheel. Then I discovered steering wheel required Herculean strength to turn the vehicle. I made it to a safe location, restarted the vehicle and was able to drive normally. My dash said there was a power steering assist fault. A week later it did it again. A few days after that, my power steering is gone and restarting the vehicle will not fix it. This is an unsafe condition and Ford should issue a recall.

The truck slammed into 1st gear going 55 mph on the interstate. Through investigation a speed sensor warning was the culprit. Not being able to have truck service for a month due to Ford Dealers being backed up Cavalier Ford sent a mobile mechanic out to me. He spent about 10 minutes on my truck handed me the keys and told me he did something with the computer mo parts are needed. He never test drove it to ensure the problem was corrected. When I went to drive the truck, the wrench light was still on and was worse than before. Actually stuck in first gear. After going around and around I was informed by Fors Customer Service they did their part, anything else I wanted done would be my responsibility financially because of the mileage. I didn't not think recalls had a mileage limit but they are insistent after 150k they were no longer responsible. Cavalier Ford marked the recall as complete but it wasn't. My case number with Ford is CAS44213098 transmission fluid leaking recall was not on there but I am leaking that as well. I don't want something for free, I just want them to correct their defects

So recently my 2013 ford f150 steering wheel starting acting up on me, by acting up it my steering wheel started locking up on me and jerking to the left I was on my way to the movie theater with my 2 daughters in the back seat luckily nothing happen but it was a scary situation to be in having your steering wheel locked up on you in the middle of traffic. Later that day I had my truck towed to a Tuffys mechanic shop where I was later told that ford had a recall on what ever was happening to my steering wheel, so I made an appointment for the next day thinking my problem was going to be resolved but it didn’t. So it all happens to be that the recall was made for a couple 2013 ford models but not f-150 but they did cover the 2014 ford f-150 model which was kinda weird to me because I’m sure their is not a big difference when it comes to a 2013 and 2014 ford f-150.

The contact stated that after letting the vehicle run for approximately 30 minutes and then turning off and restarting the vehicle, the power steering functionality returned. The contact stated that the failure had become more consistent during the colder weather. The contact stated that during the summertime he had not experienced the loss of power steering functionality. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. Nov 29, 2022 Crash

The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 5 MPH from a complete stop and making a left turn in a parking lot, the steering wheel seized inadvertently, and the vehicle veered into a handicap sign pole. The messages "Service Power Steering", "Power Steering Assist Fault", and "Service Advancetrac" were displayed. The air bags had not deployed. The contact had not sustained any injuries. The Police patrol that was parked nearby the contact verified that he had not sustained any injuries. There was no police report filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion had seized while driving. Additionally, it was diagnosed that the electric steering motor had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was scheduled for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V316000 (Steering) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance and referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000. The contact stated that they are waiting for the repair for the dent in the fender caused by the accident.

There was no warning prior to this failure. Went to crank the vehicle on a cold morning recentlyand shifted to reverse to back up and my power steering failed. After a couple hours and a warmer temp., this issue resolved itself. Next morning battery was dead. replaced battery. Next cold morning. the vehicle cranked fine, but the steering was failing again. Called dealership, they bring in for a checkup, a week down the road, Bought this truck brand new and only have approx., 22,000 miles on it. Have saw many complaints with this problem on the computer. This is not isolated incidents for this paricular year model. No recalls for this year model has not been issued, I understand Ford did a recall on 2014 year model.. This is a very serious situation and needs rectification. Also a very expensive out of pocket for me. Please get ford to issue a recall on this mode, be fore I have a very serious accident. Thanxs David.

Aug 23 2022. Vehicle had 130,800 miles at time of failure. Vehicle began to pull to the right; turning left became very difficult. Parked vehicle for several hours, then drove it again. Steering power assist had completely failed. "Service Power Steering Now" message appeared on instrument panel. Vehicle was extremely difficult to steer both right and left. Required extreme effort to turn steering wheel, and was impossible to turn wheel to full extent of travel in either direction. (I am not a small person - 6ft 3in, 195 pounds.) Took vehicle to dealer, was told that power steering rack had failed. Part was not in stock. Part became available and vehicle was repaired on 30 Aug 2022. Total cost of repair was $2,262.57. '

Driving at a low speed, my steering wheel seemed to lock, mid turn. A message appeared on my display screen saying, "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT." I turned off the vehicle and restarted it, the message disappeared and all was fine. Aproximately 20 miles later, while climbing a steep grade, the message reappeared and steering became extremely difficult. I was able to get it to the side of the road at the top of the hill. The message has appeared ever since. I had to have the truck towed back to my residence. The safety issue is alarming due to the sudden inability to steer.

During the failure the turn signal became inoperable and the driver had to manually hold the turn signal in order for the signal to operate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the failure was due to a failed steering angle sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. Also while driving a squilling type noise was present coming from under the vehicle due to a damaged exhaust manifold. Additionally, the steering wheel lost power steering functionality. The contact turned off the vehicle and upon restarting the vehicle, the steering wheel regained functionality. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the steering gear and the rack and pinion assembly were replaced. Additionally, an unknown software was reprogrammed; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that the failure could not be replicated. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving at 25 MPH. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the VIN was not included in an unknown recall associated with the failure. I was turning into gas station when I applied brakes to turn, power steering quit working and brakes, luckily there was no one exiting or i would have crashed into them. I was able to muscle steering wheel to make the turn. I then muscled steering wheel to a parking spot where brakes began to work. Dash board read check advance track there were no check engine lights or warning prior to turning. I then shut off vehicle then turned back on and it ran fine but drove with caution. This has happened 2 other times where power steering has feld but came back suddenly but this time on 2/11/22 I had no power steering at all for at least 60 to 70 feet. I have not had a mechanic or dealership look at because I don't know when it will happen its more of a hit and miss. The fact that there's no check engine light or warning lights on I believe any diagnostics would not show anything wrong.

While driving the dash lit up power steering failure and the power steering went out causing temporary loss of control of the vehicle. The first incident was a week prior when there seemed to be a temporary loss of power steering. After inspection and tighening of connectors by a mechanic, the problem seemed to go away until to day when I had a total failure.

Traveling eastbound on Hatcher Boulevard at about 35 miles per hour the truck shifting down into first gear all by itself causing the rear tires to lock up and I lost control of the vehicle momentarily. When driving, power steering stopped working and “service power steering” message is displayed on dashboard. Called Ford dealer and they said it has been a problem and only 2014 models have been recalled. Will cost approximately $2000-2500 to replace electronic rack and pinion. There were no warning lights or symptoms prior to failure. This is a safety issue and could have caused a major accident. Ford needs to step up and have a recall. There are thousands of complaints on-line about this issue. Truck is now sitting in our driveway.

On 6/6/2021 I was slowing down to turn left into a strip mall and lost all power to my steering in my recently purchased 2013 F150 with 65,650 miles on it. This was only day 4 of me driving it as it was bought on 5/29/21. The battery warning appeared on my dash. I was able to maneuver my way into the parking lot safety, but this could have been a much worse situation if I was traveling faster, on a curvy road or needed to avoid something in the road (a child, tire, stalled vehicle). I was frightened for my life and fear this could happen again. Major safety issue not only for me, but other drivers on the road. The battery was not the issue and is currently at the repair shop being looked at.

ONE DAY I WENT OUT TO MY VEHICLE AND THERE WAS A WARNING LIGHT ON SAID POWER STEER ASSIST FAULT, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED UP. I TOOK THE KEY OUT AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT. ABOUT A WEEK LATER I WAS PULLING INTO MY APARTMENTS AND THE LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME BACK ON, BUT THIS TIME IT SAID POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO AFFORD 2000 TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND I ALMOST RAN INTO SOMEONE WHEN IT JUST DECIDED TO LOCK UP ON ME. THANK GOD I DIDN'T HAVE MY CHILD WITH ME. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON 2014 WITH THE SAME THING, BUT YET I SEE A LOT OF THE SAME ISSUES ONLINE WITH THIS VEHICLE

AND IT'S TERRIFYING EACH TIME IT HAPPENS. I'VE ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD INTO THE RAILING WHILE GOING AROUND A SHARP TURN ON A MOUNTAIN THAT COULD OF CAUSED ME TO RUN OFF THE CLIFF DUE TO THE LOCKED UP STEERING.

THE TRUCK REMAINED OPERATIONAL OTHERWISE BUT THE STEERING REMAINED LOCKED. A WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED SAYING "POWER STEERING FAILURE". HAD TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE RESEARCH THE HUNDREDS, IF NOT MORE, COMPLAINTS AND SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE F-150 STEERING AND THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY FORD AS THIS WILL, IF NOT, CAUSE SERIOUS BODILY HARM. THIS IS THE LAST FORD I WILL EVER OWN, PERIOD. THEY DO NOT STAND BY THEIR INEPT ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS AND CUSTOMERS ARE PAYING THE PRICE.

DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND A MESSAGE POPS UP ON THE SCREEN. IT SAYS "STEERING ASSIST FAULT". IT SHOULD HAVE SAID OMG DON'T PANIC AND SLOW THE TRUCK TO A COMPLETE STOP AND TRY NOT TO DIE BECAUSE YOU HAVE LOST ALL OF YOUR STEERING CAPABILITIES. I COULD NOT IMAGINE IF I WAS AROUND TOO MANY VEHICLES OR ONE OF MY CHILDREN WERE DRIVING THE TRUCK. THIS IS SUCH A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN THAT ALL F150S WITH THIS POTENTIAL PROBLEM SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN UNTIL REPAIRED. WITH ALL OF THE SAFETY MEASURES AND COMPANIES SUCH AS YOU GUYS WHY ON EARTH IS THIS TRULY LIFE THREATENING ISSUE ALLOWED? APPARENTLY, THE 2013 MODEL IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM? THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS AND MANY EASILY FOUND FORUMS TALKING ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THERE HAS TO BE DEATHS ATTRIBUTED TO THIS ISSUE. FOR WHAT IS WORTH THE OTHER ISSUES ARE NONLIFE-THREATENING BUT NOLESS ANNOYING AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. I HAVE TWO 2013 F150 FORDS AND BOTH HAVE HAD THEIR REAR WINDOWS REPLACED DUE TO THE DEFROST BREAKING. THE LARIAT HAS HAD IT'S REPLACED TWICE, TWICE! BOTH TRUCKS HAVE HAD THEIR SUNROOF GUTS REPLACED. ON 8/29/2020 I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 FORD F-150 AND I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN IN A INTERSECTION AND RIGHT WHEN I WAS TURNING MY STEERING WHEEL IT FROZE UP AND BECAME EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN. I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES AND PULL THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT WITH ALL MY MIGHT AND ALMOST WENT OVER THE CURB. LUCKILY I WAS DOWN THE STREET FROM MY HOME SO I MANAGED TO TO SLOWLY TAKE DRIVE TRUCK BACK HOME. AFTER GOING ONLINE AND RESEARCHING THE STEERING PROBLEM I FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THERE 2013 FORD F-150'S. EVEN OTHER YEARS OF FORD F-150 HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS ALSO. THE 2014 F-150 HAVE A RECALL ON THERE STEERING SYSTEMS. FORD HAS NOT TO THIS DAY ISSUED A RECALL YET FOR THE 2013 FORD F-150 BUT IT HAS RECALLS FOR FUSIONS AND OTHER 2013 FORD MODELS. THIS IS VERY DISCONCERTING TO ME BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY ISSUE. LUCKILY I WASN'T GOING 75 ON THE FREEWAY AROUND A CURVE WHEN THIS HAPPENED OR THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A CATASTROPHE. SHAME ON FORD FOR PUTTING FAULTY STEERING SYSTEMS IN THESE VEHICLES AND NOT ISSUING A RECALL STILL. I HAD TO PAY $2,000 TO GET THE RACK AND PINION REPLACED AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THEY MAKE ME PAY FOR THERE FAULTY PART. I CLICKED ON THE OK BUTTON TO CLEAR ALL THREE FAULTS ON THE DASH BECAUSE THE TRUCK SEAMED TO WORKING PROPERLY. AS I DROVE TO WORK A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMED ON THEIR BREAKS AND WHEN I WENT TO REACT THE POWER STEERING DID NOT WORK. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND OR DEATH TO ME AND MY KIDS. THE POWER STEERING DID COME BACK AND WORKED FOR A FEW DAYS THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN A CAR TURNED IN FRONT OF ME AND WHEN I SWERVED TO MISS A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE TRUCK THE POWER STEERING FAILED YET AGAIN. I NOW HAVE ALL THREE FAULTS EVERY TIME I START THE TRUCK AND THE POWER STEERING IS COMPLETELY OUT NOW. THIS CONDITION IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF A YOUNGER PERSON OR SOMEONE THAT DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO OR HAVE THE PHYSICAL STRENGTH TO MANUALLY TURN THE VEHICLE WHEN THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT WITHOUT WARNING.

PROBLEM GONE. SECOND INCIDENT: 4 DAYS LATER. TURNED INTO MY WORK PARKING LOT, WAS MANEUVERING AROUND SOME PARKED VEHICLES AND SUDDENLY SAME EXACT THING HAPPENS AND I ALMOST WRECKED AGAIN. I SHIFT THE ENGINE OFF AND THIS TIME WHEN I STARTED IT, IT SAYS SERVICE POWER STEERING SYSTEM NOW. I MANAGED TO PARK IT SOMEWHAT IN A SPOT AND IT IS STILL SITTING THERE AT WALMART (MY WORK) BEHIND THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM. I DID CONTACT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD IF I WANTED TO DRIVE IT IN AND PAY 108 DOLLARS THAT THEY WOULD HOOK IT UP AND DIAGNOSE IT, BUT I JUST CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY THAT RIGHT NOW. AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM IN THE EPAS UNIT HAS RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING IN MY 2013 FORD F-150. VEHICLE HAS 63,000 MILES AND HAS NO ACCIDENTS AND HAS NOT BEEN SUBJECT TO ABNORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE PROBLEM PRESENTED ITSELF WHEN THE WEATHER BECAME COLD DURING THE FALL OF 2019. WHEN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES DROPPED BELOW 65 DEGREES AND I STARTED MY VEHICLE I RECEIVED A "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" WARNING AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE POWER STEERING. TESTING OVER A 4 WEEK PERIOD AS THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE FLUCTUATED BETWEEN 40-80 DEGREES ALLOWED ME TO SEE THE CONNECTION TO THE POWER STEERING FAILURE AND THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS CLOSE TO, BUT DID NOT EXCEED 65 DEGREES. I COULD START MY VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT AROUND, THE HEAT FROM THE ENGINE WOULD WARM THE UNIT ENOUGH TO ALLOW IT TO WORK. ALL I NEEDED TO DO WAS TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND THE POWER STEERING WOULD WORK. AFTER READING ABOUT ALL THE RECALLS FORD HAS ISSUED RELATED TO THEIR EPAS UNIT I BELIEVE THERE IS SYSTEMIC PROBLEM WITH THE PART. ADDITIONALLY, THIS PART CANNOT BE SERVICED AND REQUIRES A FULL REPLACEMENT. PART COST IS $1500 PLUS 2-3 HOURS OF LABOR. PUTTING THE TOTAL COST TO REPAIR AT $1800 - $1900 IN MY AREA.

I WAS ABLE TO GET AN APPOINTMENT AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY POWER STEERING UNIT ITSELF WAS FINE, HOWEVER IT HAD A FAULTY SENSOR THAT WAS CAUSING THE UNIT TO INTERMITTENTLY FAIL. I WAS TOLD THAT THE SENSOR WAS UNREACHABLE AND THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLACE IT, SO I WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE AND HAVE THEM INSTALL A BRAND NEW POWER STEERING UNIT. THIS COST ME AROUND $2000 TO REPLACE A POWER STEERING UNIT THAT WAS DESIGNED WITH AN IRREPLACEABLE SENSOR.

DRIVING TRUCK ON A TWO LANE ROAD WHEN THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY WENT OUT AS I WAS ROLLING UP TO THE STOP SIGN. I MANAGED TO CONTROL THE TRUCK AND GET IT TURNED AROUND AND BACK TO MY HOUSE WITHOUT PROBLEM, BUT COULD ONLY IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD I BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHEN THIS HAPPENED. AFTER RESEARCH, I SAW THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SOME RECALLS BUT MY TRUCK WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPAIRED IT FOR $2300. SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN. CALLED COMPLAINT LINE AT THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND THEY PAID $700 OF THE $2300 WHICH WE ARE GRATEFUL FOR, BUT STILL FEEL THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED AS A RECALL ISSUE AND THEREFORE NO CHARGE TO US. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE STEERING IN FORD CARS AND TRUCKS FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. THIS TRUCK IS A 2013 AND ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT. ONE WOULD NOT EXPECT SUCH AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR TO BE NECESSARY ON A TRUCK WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. AND SURELY A SAFETY HAZARD IF THIS HAD HAPPENED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED.

NOT ONLY IS THIS AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE FIX, IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, AND COULD PUT A DRIVER IN A LIFE AND DEATH SITUATION. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THE STEERING GEAR FAILED. I WAS QUOTED $1950 FOR THE PART. THE TRUCK IS JUST SHORT OF 60K MILES AND BEING OUT OF WARRANTY THEY SAID ALL I CAN DUE IS FILE A REPORT. I AM HAVING TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS UNTIL MY REPORT IS REVIEWED. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPENING TO OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME YEAR AND MAKE AS MY TRUCK AND THINK THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I WENT TO TAKE OFF FROM A STOP LIGHT AND I GOT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND HAD AN IMMEDIATE REDUCTION IN POWER THE TRUCK WAS STUCK AT 1,000 RPMS AND WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING BUT SLOWLY CREEP FORWARD AT 5 MILES AN HOUR. I LIMPED TO A LIGHTED PARKING LOT ABOUT A HALF BLOCK AWAY AS MY LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON AND A WRENCH ICON ON THE DASH. I SHUT IT OFF AND POPPED OPEN THE HOOD. I CHECK MY OIL LEVEL TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL POWER STEERING LEVEL AND EVERYTHING WAS WELL ABOVE TOLERANCES. I COULD FIND NO PROBLEMS AND WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE TRUCK AND STARTED IT, IT RAN FINE ALL THE WAY HOME. I JUST SCANNED THE SYSTEM AND NO ERROR CODES. THE STOP LIGHT ROAD WAS AT A SLIGHT DOWNWARD ANGLE AND I HAD JUST BELOW A HALF TANK OF 93 OCTANE FUEL. K AND N AIR FILTER IN STOCK HOLDER. NO OTHER POWER TRAIN OR ENGINE MODIFICATIONS. LOSS OF POWER, POWER STEERING AND DECREASED BRAKING. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS HAD IT NOT BEEN LATER AT NIGHT.

ALSO, ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER, THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND "BRAKE FLUID LOW" APPEARED ON THE MESSAGE CENTER. THE CONTACT ADDED 3/4 OF A QUARTER OF BRAKE FLUID, BUT BY THE TIME THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO THE PARKING LOT, THE BRAKE FLUID WAS GONE. THERE WERE NO NOTICEABLE LEAKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,871.

FROM MY RESEARCH, THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE 2013 MODEL AND IS A RECALL ON THE 2014 MODEL. ITS AN INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN IT HAPPENS. YOU COMPLETELY LOOSE POWER STEERING AND GET 3 SEPARATE WARNINGS ON THE DASH. I CAME WITHIN INCHES OF HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT YESTERDAY. PROBLEM IS, ITS SPORADIC, YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN ITS GOING TO HAPPEN. ALSO THE TURN SIGNALS QUIT WORKING SHORTLY AFTERWARDS. THE VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 50,000 MILES ON IT, AND LOOKING AROUND ON THE INTERNET WOULD LEAD ME TO ASSUME THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT IS A DEFINITE SAFETY CONCERN FOR ANY IN OR AROUND ONE OF THESE VEHICLES. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE NEXT MODEL YEAR OF THIS VEHICLE RECEIVED A RECALL ON THIS VERY PROBLEM. I TURNED OFF THE TRUCK AND RE-STARED IT, AND THE STEERING WAS FINE. THE SAME EVENT HAPPENED 3 TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET THE TRUCK INTO THE SHOP FOR THE $2,000.00 REPLACEMENT. THE DAY I GOT MY TRUCK TOWED HOME, I PARKED IT AND HAVE NOT TOUCHED IT SINCE, FOR I FEAR MY LIFE WILL BE IN DANGER IF I DRIVE IT IN THOSE CONDITIONS AGAIN. TAKEN IT TO FORD TWICE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD ONCE THAT THE KNOCK COULD NOT BE FELT, SECOND VISIT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER THE SERVICE MANAGER FELT THE PROBLEM BUT THE FRONT END TECHNICIAN STATED IT IS NORMAL ROAD FEEL. BOTH FRONT TIRES ARE WEARING ON THE OUTER TWO TREADS AS IF THE FRONT END NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT BUT BOTH DEALERSHIPS HAVE CHECKED THE ALIGNMENT STATING IT IS GOOD. VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS TRUCK, THE SAME HIGH TEMPERATURES ALSO CAUSE THE TRUCK TO BE VERY SENSITIVE THE CROSSWINDS AND PASSING VEHICLES.
