Vehicle: 2013 Ford F-150 SuperCrew Cab Component: Rear Defroster / Rear Window Assembly Summary of Issue: Rear window glass shattered while driving when rear defroster was in use. Detail of Incident: On November 2, 2025, at approximately 5:00 AM, I was driving my 2013 Ford F-150 SuperCrew Cab at approximately 65 mph on the highway near Mogadore, Ohio. The vehicle had been operating for around 45 minutes without issue. The outside temperature was about 43°F. I had the rear window defroster and side mirror defrosters activated. Without any impact, warning lights, prior cracks, or outside interference, the rear glass pane directly behind the driver’s seat shattered suddenly and completely while I was driving. There were no vehicles near me, and I inspected the glass immediately afterward and found no evidence of anything striking the vehicle. The failure occurred instantaneously and with a loud sound, which created a risk of driver distraction and could have resulted in loss of control or injury from breaking glass. After researching, I found that this issue is widely reported by other owners of Ford F-150 models online, particularly involving the rear defroster causing excessive localized heating and thermal stress, which leads to spontaneous glass failure. Many owners report similar conditions: cold ambient temperature + rear defroster activated. The glass was replaced at my own expense, approximately $800. Receipts and photographs are available upon request. The issue was not covered by recall, warranty, or insurance. The problem has not been addressed by Ford despite multiple consumer reports. Safety Concern: This defect presents a serious safety hazard because the sudden shattering is loud, distracting, and may send glass fragments into the cabin. It could easily lead to loss of vehicle control or injury to occupants. The failure occurred under normal and intended use of the rear defroster system. I have a 2013 F150 XLT. It is displaying the same backup camera issues that the recent recall has described, however it is not included in the recall. When I put the transmission in reverse, the backup camera display is either blank, shows a momentary blue screen, then blank or shows a distorted reversed image with no guidelines. I'm just reporting this information in an effort to expand Ford's recall to all years/models effected by this backup camera fault. Thanks.

We took our Ford F150 King Ranch to our local mechanic. The vehicle would shift down into a lower gear when traveling at speed limit. After that, that speedometer stopped working and other gages were inoperable. This happened several times before we contacted out mechanic for diagnostics testing. The trouble code P0722 / 6R80 Transmission high gear engagement from a stop. In February 2019 Ford issued a safety recall stating these vehicles may suddenly downshift to first gear, possibly causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. The information I have obtained directly from the Ford website "Dealers will reprogram the recalled Ford F-150's PCM, free of charge. The repair is currently available". We purchased this vehicle from CarMax in 2021 and were not made aware of this recall. I contacted our local dealership, AutoNation Ford, that we had used for regular maintenance for the first two years after purchase of our vehicle. After diagnostic testing on the vehicle was complete, they advised the safety recall time had "expired". That we will be responsible for the repairs. Does a "safety recall" expire? We were advised the recall expired after 150K miles. We have approximately 164K miles. Can you please advise what our options may be? I do not feel safe driving this vehicle at this point. AutoNation has had our vehicle since 09/11/2025. They are expecting me to pay for the repairs.

The issue involves the rear backup camera system on my 2013 Ford F-150. The camera functions intermittently — sometimes it goes completely black, other times it freezes and does not change image, and occasionally displays a message that says "Camera Unavailable." This happens unpredictably and may change mid-use, even while the vehicle is actively reversing.e component that has failed is the rear-view backup camera system, which appears to be a software-related malfunction (as similar issues have been recalled in newer Ford models). The vehicle and system are available for inspection upon request.This failure presents a significant safety hazard. Because the camera may stop working mid-reverse, it can result in an inability to see behind the vehicle, potentially causing injury to pedestrians (especially children or people in blind spots), damage to property, or accidents in tight spaces. The inconsistent nature of the issue makes it particularly dangerous, as a driver may unknowingly rely on a malfunctioning system.Yes, I contacted the local Ford dealership to report the issue. They acknowledged the possibility of a software or system issue but stated I would need to pay $250 for a diagnostic, which would not go toward the cost of any repair. Due to the high diagnostic fee and the fact that this may be a systemic issue, I have not proceeded further yet.There were no prior warning lamps or alerts before the issue started. The only messages displayed occur at the moment of failure and include "Camera Unavailable" or a blank screen with no visual feed. These symptoms began in April 2025 and have continued sporadically since then.I am submitting this complaint because this is a serious safety concern, and I believe there may be a broader software issue affecting earlier Ford models, similar to those recalled in newer vehicles. As the driver, I should not bear responsibility for a system that is inherently defective and critical to safe vehicle operation.

Description: On July 7, 2025, I purchased this vehicle from AutoNation Spring, Texas. At the time of sale, the dealership did not disclose that there was an active safety recall on this vehicle. I only learned of the recall after the purchase, when I checked the VIN through NHTSA’s website. The recall remains open and unresolved as of today’s date. The Arizona AutoNation dealership has had possession of the vehicle for service since shortly after the sale, but no recall repair has been completed. I was never informed at the time of sale that this safety defect existed or that repairs were outstanding. I am concerned that the vehicle was sold in violation of federal and/or state consumer protection laws regarding safety recall disclosures. I request NHTSA’s review and investigation into whether this dealership and manufacturer have complied with all requirements for recall handling and notification. --- Key Points for NHTSA’s File: Date of purchase: July 7, 2025. My 2013 F150 had been acting strangely in showing a wrench on the LED screen and shutting off the electrical components on my dash. when this happens, it also sticks the transmission in between 3-5th gear. I am unable to shift down to 1st or 2nd gear, or up to 6th gear. After this happened a few times, it started to shift me in to Park and stop my wheels from turning. This happened to me 3 times while traveling down the highway at 80mph. All 3 times, it lasted only a few seconds, but it was enough to screech my brand new tires and leave marks on the ground as if I had slammed on my brakes. It returns to normal and continues down the road.

This incident to my truck has happened twice. First time on [XXX] and this last time on [XXX]. I was driving and all of a sudden the truck downshifted, loss power even when pressing on the gas then again all of a sudden the tach. and the engine will Rev up very high then lunge forward. This last time my truck made a big jerk. This really scared me. I pulled over and called a tow truck because I was afraid to keep driving it. I had it towed to the Ford dealership, Mt. Orab Ford, where I just bought this truck from in Dec.2024. Iam waiting for them to let me know what they have found out. I have only owned thus truck for 3 months. Due to an unresolved issue that Ford motor company is aware of with the Transmission “Molded Lead Frame” the truck will drop down into 1st gear from highway speeds and causes a huge safety concern if there should be someone traveling behind me. The speedometer will stop working as well as the mileage will disappear off the screen/all other information will go blank. I will have to stop the truck, turn it off and back on again and it will drive normal. When I bring to dealer; they state ford should be covering this issue: when I contact ford I am offered no assistance or remedies. They referred me to bring this safety issue to your attention. It is very concerning and I cannot afford another car at the moment.

Front passenger door and rear driver side door lock does not unlock from the outside when the truck is unlocked. Manually have to get inside the truck to unlock the doors. Eventually the front passenger door lock got stuck and the latch was not even working to keep the door closed.

Truck has been recalled for a lead frame issue with a 19N01 recall for csp ford refuses to fix the issue stating it's outside of warranty but truck will go into 5th gear and then slam down to first while driving, occasionally the transmission speed sensor fails due to this and trans won't shift out of 5th gear at all. This is happening with several years of the f150 series and ford isn't doing anything about it the f150s are hazardous on the road

Periodically tachometer revs, speedometer and odometer stops working, and the Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power/Electronic Throttle Control as well as the Service Engine Soon lights come on. Sometimes will reset when stopped, and the vehicle is turned off for about ten seconds before turning back on.

Not sure if it is the powertrain or the intercooler for the turbos but when you press the gas to get on the highway or at high speed on the highway and press the gas the check engine light blinks and the vehichal goes into limp mode. Easy to recreate and doesnt seem like ford has a recall for it or even a fix. Every eco boost truck ever made seems to have this issue and if you get rear ended because of it , that sounds like a safety hazard to me. The only fix I have seen from the f150 forums to youtube or anywhere on google is to drill a 1/16 hole in the intercooler and let sludge and condensation drip all over the place. Does not sound like a great fix to me.Not even sure if the intercooler is the culprit or if it's the power train.Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Transmission issue? Vehicle is not shifting correctly. Shifting is very rough and we are afraid to drive the vehicle. Local dealer said we can schedule an appointment... it would be 3-4 weeks. No warning lights or messages. (We just had a recall taken care of on our 2014 F150 for a shifting issue but had no symptoms.)

About 3 weeks ago, I had come to a stop, and then when I hit the accelerator to come from the stop sign, the "check-engine" light came up, my odometer & speedometer seemed to stop working; additionally, I felt that the vehicle wasn't accelerating. When I arrived home, I turned off & then the vehicle back on; and everything since then seems to have been working. I have taken it too the dealership to see if they can determine this issue, and after 5 days, I still don't have an answer. But I did just notice the 2014 F150 recall, regarding faulty transmission, that was reported on, on June 25th; it seems very similar to what happened to my 2013 F150

The truck I have is known to have a problem with the lead frame ford issued a recall on this vehicle however my vehicle was never fixed at all they just have it marked as no open recall and they are telling me that the vehicle is no longer covered by the warranty on the recall due to a time lapse and mileage being over. This vehicle was affected by this recall and it is a safety recall yet the vehicle was never properly fixed for this and it has ongoing issues that have to do with this recall.

This has now happened countless times. The truck will be in a gear, as I naturally speed up, the transmission will jerk and the truck will get stuck in the following gear. The truck will then be stuck in that gear and will not downshift. A big wrench light comes on, then turns off about 10 seconds later. In addition, the odometer lists dashes (---,---), no mileage measures. The speedometer stays at 0 mph even when driving in the stuck gear. Another light stays on, I think it is the airbag image. Everything stays as is until I turn off the truck. Once I turn off and turn back on, everything goes back to normal. I've taken the truck to Ford, but because there are no "check engine" lights and there are no codes, Ford will not cover. My mechanic has confirmed (without any codes) that the recall is TSB16-0008, which was issued in March 2019. Since my truck is showing no codes, and my truck is over 10 years old, Ford says they will not cover. This is extremely concerning. If the truck downshifts on the highway, or refuses to downshift when needed, I could be in a serious accident. As mentioned, this has now occurred countless times.

I was driving on the highway going 70MPH in 6th gear. Myself, my wife, and my 6th month old son were on our way to a doctors appointment when in the middle lane on the highway my truck decided to completely downshift into 1st gear. With doing so my truck locked up and I lost control of the vehicle almost colliding with a semi. I was very lucky to not have wrecked and got onto the shoulder safely where I had no power to my vehicle. I got it towed to a dealership and after paying out of pocket for a diagnostic they found that my truck had a recall with the oss sensor on the transmission witch caused significant engine and transmission damage resulting in $18,000.00 to fix. Apparently the warranty expires 10 years or 150k miles which my truck has surpassed both. I wasn’t warned about any recall or found any recall there was no damage or signs of damage to the truck prior to this incident.

Our speedometer stopped working and wrench light would come on. When driving the gears would shift to 5th. It happened really bad on the highways several times where we had to pullover for a good 20 minutes. Started happening a little over a month ago. They had my truck in the shop for 2 weeks We've had it looked at and fixed and they said it was the recall on 2011-2012 ford's f1-50s and some 2013 Ford f1-50s but we got charged for it.

While driving on the highway at approximately 70 mph, with my child in the car, the vehicle suddenly shifted into first gear causing the wheels to skid and the vehicle to stop in moving traffic. Luckily, I was able to get to the side for safety, but this could have been so much worse. When I called dealership they stated there was no recalls for this problem. Also, the vehicle is now in need of repair, I would presume as a result of the engine being shifted into 1st gear while traveling at highway speeds.

Diagnosed by local goodyear service. The leadframe on transmission need replacing. Truck randomly shuts off, shifts wrong & dash lights are weird. Ford dealer says not a recall & truck is too old for extended warranty. Ford customer service says the same. And this isnt a safely issue?! Dealer says $700+ to fix. Just spent nearly $1800 to fix a broken leaf spring - in the middle layer of the spring - & truck has never been overloaded - Ford Company would not tell me if that had a recall because it was not diagnosed by dealer. It was rubbing on 1 of new tires good thing we did not have a blowout!

I believe the power train is defaulting. It is available for someone to look at if they come to us, as it is not drivable. The safety of my family and other drivers on the road is at high risk, as the truck shuts off while driving at any given moment without warning. The problem has been ongoing ever since we had the transmission software recall issue, "fixed." We have taken the truck back to the Ford manufacturer, Airport Ford in Florence, Kentucky, twice, with no help of getting the issue resolved. The wrench light came on before the problem started. We looked into that by taking it to Airport Ford in florence Kentucky. The issue is still ongoing and we are currently no longer driving the vehicle as it will no longer stay running. This has been going on since we had the truck fixed due to a recall notice we received in 2019 or 2020. I would love to keep the truck and have the issue resolved as it is the only vehicle we own.

My speakers when they were working would make a ear piercing static output that would last a few seconds. It was very dangerous while I was driving bc it would scar me enough to jump. After about the 5th time, the speakers and radio no longer worked.

The defective part is the Transmission molded leadframe, their was a recall issued on Truck which I was not told until the problem occurred when I drivinh the truck I have taken truck in and told them the issue on the Transmission which I looked up and found the recall we contacted Ford Motor Company back in March 2023 and was told a letter would be sent to me for this recall to be done which I never received I contacted them again after I was told it would take 6 weeks to receive letter for the repair and was told the recall expired, this recall should of been fixed before truck was sold to me, I have tried to get this resolved it is not safe to drive the truck without this part being replaced, the engine light came on I took it in to Ford and had it checked and was told a recall was on the truck, it wasn't repaired and nothing has been resolved. Now they have said it would cost me $2000 to be replaced which was suppose to be replaced with the recall.

On my way to work I turned on the rear defrost and heard a loud bang after 15 minutes. I pulled over to see what had happened and the read driver side windshield pain had shattered. it remained in the laminate but I got a replacement quote and its almost $1000 dollars. After doing research this is a major problem with the defrost mechanism on these trucks with no known fix. I'm glad it stayed in take but the glass is continuously cracking as I drive and i cannot get the repair done until Thursday and the dealer said they can do nothing except replace the glass and hope it doesn't happen again.

Vehicle down shifts on its own at various speeds causing a major jerk in the vehicle. ACcording to dealer this is called lead transmission which sounds like Ford is aware of issue but isn't doing anything about it. Vehicle accelerates rapidly from stop or idle on its own. Instrument panel goes dead except RPM guage.

My truck randomly downshifts while driving. I took my truck to fix a downshifting recall that should have taken care of this dangerous problem and it has yet to be resolved. I called corporate Ford and a local Ford dealer and was told I needed to pay $140 fee in order for my car to be checked considering the recall apparently was taken care of. In the system it shows it was taken care of but there is clearly a problem if the truck is doing exactly what the recall was supposed to prevent. This is our daily vehicle and it frightens my wife to drive it. This happens on a daily occasion.

While driving the truck will shift gears and get stuck in gears, particularly first gear. When stuck RMP's rev high and cause the truck to lurch forward even when foot is on the brake. Speedometer goes to 0 even while driving. Truck can switch to manual gear, but will only allow to go to 3rd gear and no higher. Putting truck in park and shutting it off will sometimes reset and allow to get back on the road. Other times it will stay stuck in first gear. I believe this is an issue with the lead frame. Our safety was put at risk as we tried to take off from a stop light and the truck would not shift out first. The lurching almost made me hit the person in front of me and the person behind me almost hit me as the truck was lurching forward. Any higher speed would have surely caused an accident. Truck has been take to a Ford dealership service center. There is a CSP from Ford on the lead frame of the truck with our VIN number but because no code has been recorded, Ford will not fix the issue under the CSP. We have not had any warning lamps or messages before, during, or after the issue occurs. Ford needs to acknowledge that the problem with the lead frame does not always produce a an error code. They need to replace all the lead frames in the affected vehicles if it demonstrates these issues immediately to keep drivers safe. Error code should not be the only determining factor of fixing this issue as it is obvious that they don't occur in every case and driver are in serious danger.

Timing chain has no tension and requiring immediate repair of timing chain and phasers. Check engine light illuminated with codes P0012 & P054C. It is evident this is an acknowledged issue with Ford due to the number of TSBs issued for this motor. Diagnosed at an independent repair shop and confirmed at local Ford dealership and is available currently at the Ford dealership for inspection upon request. Safety risk of loss of power or complete engine failure while operating. Occasional cold start noises occurred for about a year prior to the check engine light on 1/13/2022 - Check engine light appeared, and was taken to a repair shop the next day.

I drove my truck home that afternoon and parked with no problems or alarms got up next morning to leave had hill decent default alarm when I cranked the truck and obviously that affected the electric power steering and I could not turn the steering wheel. First thought that came to mind what if this had happened and I lost steering control while driving home yesterday. As I checked into the problem I learned of the electric control power assist steering also learned that there had been many other incidents with steering failures some with accidents. Also learned that I cannot find any recalls related to this problem which is a very dangerous problem. After getting some advice I checked out the wiring harness underneath the fuse box which is located under the hood. While shining a light up into the fuse box I immediately saw burned wires. Then called my Ford dealer in Easley, South Carolina who did not return my call even though I told them I was without a vehicle and had a very serious electrical problem with my truck. I took pictures of wires and would like for you to investigate this. Very dangerous situation!!!!!

While driving my work truck down the road at highway speeds, the truck suddenly jolted, redlined, and then the little wrench, service light, came on. The lights for what number gear the truck is currently in went out, the the lights for PARK NEUTRAL DRIVE MANUAL 2 1 went out, and the truck was stuck in a gear, maybe 5th gear. When the truck redlined without notice it caused the vehicle to cross the double yellow line. After I stopped and shut the truck off it wouldn't restart. I had to have the truck towed. The pickup is still currently at the garage.

I was first driving about 50MPH in 6th gear when my truck downshifted to 1 without warning. Luckily no one was behind me and I was able to get into the right lane. I tuned my vehicle off and back on and my truck shifted just fine. To say I was and scared is an understatement luckily I have had plenty of training just in case, I’m sure many have not. I got a diagnostic test on it and there were no errors. About a week later I was driving 80 down the freeway when my truck went from 6 gear to idol. Luckily I was able to steer off the highway to get away from traffic. Again, I turned off and back on my truck. No lights or indications, but now I have an appointment to get another complete diagnostic on it. Just want to make sure everyone is aware that there is an issue. I have around 180,000 miles on the vehicle. I don’t have any files to upload at this time because my truck goes in next week.

Every day the transmission jumps to 1st gear and stays there. We have to pull over and put it in park or neutral then try to drive again. Most of the times it stays in 1st gear for 5 or 6 times of pulling over before it will return to normal. This happens regardless of speed at time it happens. It displays the 'wrench' on the screen, air bag light comes on and speedometer stops working. We are deathly afraid of even getting on a highway. We have read the same problem on the internet happening to hundreds of people, yet there is no recall notice yet. Why are there no recalls if we are all having the EXACT same thing. Some people reported their lead frame harness was replaced and fixed the problem and some reprogrammed the control module.

This truck was driven daily and has been owned since new. No aftermarket accessories, all stock. The truck was parked in my warehouse over the weekend. When I returned on Monday morning I found the dashboard burned and melted, airbag deployed, and headliner scorched. I believe the airbag extinguished the fire and kept it from spreading outside the truck and possibly destroying my business. The truck has not been inspected by anyone other than mechanics working on quotes to repair it. The truck is still at my business and available for your inspection. There were no warnings of any kind.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS OR ERRORS DISPLAYED ON THE DASH AND THE OBDII SCANNER SHOWED NO ERROR CODES AT ALL. THE TRUCK WAS PARKED DIRECTLY UNDER A SECURITY CAMERA AND AFTER REVIEW OF THE FOOTAGE, NO EVIDENCE WAS FOUND AS TO WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED IT. THE WINDOW ITSELF IS STILL INTACT (AS SHOWN IN THE ATTACHED PICTURE) LIKE THE OUTSIDE LAYERS ARE HOLDING IT TOGETHER. THE WEATHER THAT DAY WAS VERY COLD IN THE MORNING AND GOT RELATIVELY WARM THROUGHOUT THE DAY. I NOTICED THE BROKEN WINDOW AT THE END OF THE DAY WHEN LEAVING WORK. THIS WINDOW IS BEING REPAIRED THIS COMING MONDAY FOR $699 + TAX SO I DO NOT HAVE ANY COPIES OF THE INVOICE YET. MY INSURANCE ALSO HAD A HIGHER DEDUCTIBLE THAN WHAT THIS IS GOING TO COST SO I CHOSE TO COVER IT OUT OF POCKET.

WE GET IT BACK FROM THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TELL UHS THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS STUCK IN REVERSE. I STARTED MY TRUCK AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. THE TRUCK WAS IN LIMP MODE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I RESTARTED THE TRUCK AND WAS ABLE TO PULL IT BACK IN THE DRIVEWAY. I PLUGGED IN AN OBD CODE READER AND IT GAVE A P2112 "THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM STUCK CLOSED." UPON SOME RESEARCH I FOUND SEVERAL MODELS BETWEEN 2011 THROUGH 2015 HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES CAUSING DANGEROUS SITUATIONS ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 55 MILES/H PULLING A TRAILER WITH A LIGHT LOAD. THE TRUCK SUDDENLY WENT FROM NORMAL ENGINE SOUND TO A LOUDER AND LOUDER SOUND AND IT SLOWED DOWN AS IF I WAS BEEN DRAGGED BACKWARD. THE ENGINE SOUND FELT LIKE THE TRUCK HAD DOWN SHIFTED FROM A HIGHER TO A LOWER GEAR AND WAS BRAKING ON ITS OWN WHILE I WAS TRYING TO COMPENSATE BY GIVING MORE GAS SO THAT I COULD PULLOVER SAFELY. WITHIN A MINUTE THE TRUCK STOPPED STILL, THERE WAS SMOKE AND FIRE THAT SPREAD RAPIDLY THROUGH THE CABINE AND ENGINE. WE NEARLY ESCAPED. I WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETELY CLEAR THE TRAILER OFF THE ROAD AS THE TRUCK HAD COMPLETELY STOPPED. THE TRUCK BURNED COMPLETELY. BEFORE REPORTING THIS INCIDENT I CALLED FORD, PROVIDED MY VIN NUMBER AND ASKED WHETHER THERE HAD BEEN ANY RECENT RECALLS ON MY F150. FORD CONFIRMED THAT A RECALL (# 19S07) THAT IMPACTED MY VIN WAS ISSUED IN FEB, 2019. HOWEVER, I DO NOT REMEMBER RECEIVING ANY NOTIFICATION FROM MY FORD DEALERSHIP.

CARS MANAGED TO MISS ME AND I NARROWLY MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER TO A SAFE PLACE TO RECOVER. THE CAR CONTINUED TO JERK IN SIMILAR FASHION AS ATTEMPT TO EXIT THE INTERSTATE TO GET TO A SERVICE CENTER. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO SAFELY MAKE IT TO THE NEAREST FORD SERVICE CENTER SO I CALLED A TOW THROUGH GEICO ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE TOW TOOK ME TO AUTO NATION FORD AND THERE THEY EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THE ISSUE I EXPERIENCED WAS DUE TO A RECALL THAT THEY ARE CURRENTLY FIXING; HOWEVER, WHEN THEY SAW THAT I HAD A 2013 FORD F150 MODEL, HE IMMEDIATELY APPRISED ME OF THE FACT THAT FORD DID NOT HAVE THE SOFTWARE YET TO REPROGRAM THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE TO PREVENT THE UNINTENDED DOWNSHIFT. THE REPRESENTATIVE THEN TOLD ME THERE WAS ANOTHER RECALL IN THE SYSTEM FOR THIS VEHICLE THAT HE COULD DO, BUT IT WOULD NOT REMEDY THE INITIAL SITUATION. MY VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVABLE AND I ASKED WHEN FORD WOULD HAVE A REMEDY FOR THIS. HE STATED THAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THIS CURRENT QUARTER, BUT THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED THE INFORMATION TO DO THE REPROGRAM. NOW, I AM WITHOUT A VEHICLE DUE TO NO FAULT OF MY OWN. I THINK THEY SHOULD GIVE ME A LOANER OR PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR, BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO TIMELINE AS TO WHEN THIS RECALL REMEDY WILL BE AVAILABLE.

EACH TIME I USE MY TRUCK TOW /HAUL AND BRAKE ON A GRADE, THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS TO SECOND GEAR AND WILL NOT EXIT UNTIL I TURN OFF THE TOW/HAUL FUNCTION. DEALER MARSHALL FORD O'FALLON MO, TELLS ME DON'T USE FUNCTION. I FIND THIS MOST INCONVENIENT, CONSIDERING I HAVE DRIVEN THIS VEHICLE FIVE YEARS TOWING MY BOAT WITHOUT A PRIOR INCIDENT. TAKE IT BACK TO THE PLACE WE BOUGHT IT AND THEY TOLD US THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER EITHER. SAFELIGHT ORDERED US A WINDOW, INSTALLED IT, AND PROCEEDED TO TELL US THAT THIS HAS HAPPEN TO MANY FORD TRUCKS BEFORE. WE WERE DODGE TRUCK PEOPLE UNTIL THE AIR BAG RECALL, CHANGED TO FORD AND THIS HAPPENS, WHATS NEXT? I DID A INTERNET SEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE WINDOW DEFROSTER OVER-HEATING AND CAUSING THE LEFT REAR WINDOW TO SHATTER. ALL OF THIS WAS DONE MID AUGUST 2018 AND STILL HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE. I HAVE 102,367 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. WHEN I LOOKED TO SEE IF THERE WERE OTHERS WITH THIS ISSUE, I FOUND THAT THERE WERE MANY AND THAT FORD IS REFUSING TO ISSUE A RECALL TO REPAIR THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND HAZARDOUS MALFUNCTION. TOOK INTO SHOP, NO CODES IN COMPUTER, TOPPED OFF TRANSMISSION FLUID. $97. FOLLOWING WEEK WENT TO PASS A VEHICLE AND THE TRUCK LOST POWER AND STARTED TO SHAKE, ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING. BROUGHT BACK TO SHOP. STILL NO CODE, BUT THEY CHANGED SPARK PLUGS AND FUEL SYSTEM FLUSH. $440. WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD RPM UP TO 3000, WOULD NOT CHANGE IF I PRESSED ON GAS OR NOT, TRANSMISSION SHIFTING FROM 1-3 IN RANDOM ORDER. FELT LIKE BRAKES WERE LOCKING UP. DRIVING 50 MPH, RPM TO 5000, SPEEDOMETER FROM 50 TO ZERO BACK TO 50, BRAKES LOCK UP. PULLED OVER, SHUT OFF TRUCK, RESTARTED NO PROBLEM. TOOK TO DEALER I BOUGHT FROM, NO CODES COULD NOT HELP. TOOK TO FORD DEALER, SAID TRANSMISSION LEAD FRAME NEEDS REPAIR $900, AND MAIN REAR SEAL LEAKING BADLY. NEVER WAS I LOW ON OIL OR HAD AN OIL SPOT. LOOKED UP ONLINE SEVERAL HUNDRED OF SAME VEHICLE WITH THE SAME ISSUES. NO RECALL. FORD SAID NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE WARRANTY IS UP AND IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM NOW.

I THOUGHT I MUST HAVE LOST A CHUNK OF ICE UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK, BUT IT WAS SO LOUD, I WAS SKEPTICAL THAT WAS TRULY IT. MY REAR WINDOW DEFROST LIGHT FLICKERED ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES DURING THE DRIVE, BUT I DIDN'T NOTICE UNTIL I GOT TO WORK (ABOUT 8 MILES LATER) THAT THE REAR WINDOW ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED, BUT STILL INTACT WITH THE FRAME. IMMEDIATELY DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS TOLD THEY'VE HEARD OF THIS, BUT THERE IS NO RECALL. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO OWNS A BODY SHOP AND HE SUGGESTED I COVER THE SHATTERED GLASS WITH CRASH WRAP, SO I TOOK IT THERE AND THEY DID SO. IF I HAD A CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT, THEY COULD HAVE HAD HEARING DAMAGE FROM THE LOUD POP THAT OCCURRED. I'M VERY UPSET THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, WHICH HAS PERSISTED OVER 7 YEARS ACCORDING TO RESEARCH, AND HAVE DONE NOTHING TO REMEDY THE SITUATION OR PROVIDE COMPENSATION FOR REPAIRS.

I HAVE HAD REAR WINDOW ISSUES SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK. FIRST WAS WHEN THE REAR DEFROST/MIRROR DEFROST WASN'T WORKING. THEY REPLACED THE WINDOW IN 2014. SECOND TIME WAS IN APRIL OF 2017. WE HAD A HEAVY FROST AND I COULDN'T SEE OUT THE BACK WINDOW OR THE SIDE MIRRORS, SO I TURNED ON THE DEFROST. ABOUT TEN MINUTES LATER I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT. I IMMEDIATELY STARTED LOOKING AROUND THINKING SOMEONE SHOT AT ME. I DIDN'T REALIZE RIGHT AWAY DUE TO THE REAR HEADREST COVERING A LARGE PORTION OF THE WINDOW, THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE STATIONARY SECTION OF THE BACK WINDOW HAD EXPLODED. THE GLASS STAYED INTACT, HOWEVER TINY SLIVERS OF GLASS FELL ONTO MY DAUGHTERS CAR SEAT WHICH WAS IN FRONT OF THIS WINDOW. FORD DID REPLACE THE WINDOW, RELUCTANTLY AND I PAID AN INSURANCE DEDUCTIBLE, EVEN THOUGH THE INTERNET IS FULL OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I RECENTLY WENT TO TURN ON MY REAR DEFROST AGAIN, AND FOUND THE SAME ISSUE AS THE FIRST PROBLEM, WHERE THE DEFROST WONT WORK AND THE LIKELY FIX IS REPLACING THE REAR WINDOW. THIS WILL BE THE FOURTH WINDOW IN FOUR YEARS. IS THIS SOMETHING I SHOULD EXPECT TO DO LIKE OIL CHANGES AND TIRES? THIS IS RIDICULOUS. THE EXPLODING WINDOW CAN REALLY BE AN ISSUE. SOMEONE MAY PANIC AND THINK ITS A GUNSHOT, AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR IF SOMEONE WAS SITTING THERE, THEY COULD GET GLASS SLIVERS ON THEM. THIS APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE FOR YEARS WITH THESE WINDOWS. WHY HAVEN'T THEY BEEN FORCED TO REDESIGN IT?

FINALLY REPLACED THE ROTORS/BRAKES AT 46,000 NOW THE ROTORS ARE WARPING AGAIN AFTER ONLY 20,000 MILES. THE FRONT END HAS A VIBRATION IN IT, EVEN WHEN NOT BRAKING. THE RECALL ISSUED WAS LIMITED TO THE 3.5L ENGINE. FROM MY INTERNET RESEARCH THIS RECALLED SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO OTHER MODELS.

ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT, BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND NEARLY PULLED ME INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE ACCELERATION IS BAD TOO, FEELS LIKE IT IS NOT FIRING ALL CYLINDERS AGAIN. HAVE ALREADY TAKEN IN FOR A NUMBER OF ISSUES, INCLUDING CRANKSHAFT SENSOR ISSUES(WAS LOSING POWER TO DRIVELINE); BRAKES LOCKING UP (HAVE REPLACED THE ROTORS AND PADS SIX TIMES AND LAST TIME I REPLACED BOTH CALIBERS AS WELL; POWER STEERING HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE BEFORE, FRONT AXLES AND BEARINGS REPLACED. AS WELL AS, AC PROBLEMS. WHEN THE FIRST ISSUES AROSE, I WAS TOLD BY SERVICE TECH AT DEALERSHIP I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE, (LATER HE COMPLETELY DENIED TELLING ME THIS) INSTEAD THEY FIXED SOME THINGS AND GAVE IT BACK TO ME. PROBLEMS HAVE CONTINUED SINCE, LIKE I SAID HAVE TAKEN IT IN AT LEAST 6 TIMES TO A DEALER AND ONCE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. AT FIRST THE PROBLEMS WERE COVERED BY WARRENTY, NOW THEY ARE NOT, THERE IS ONLY 78,000MILES ON THE TRUCK AND HAS BEEN IN SHOP AT LEAST 6 TIMES AND IS ONLY 4 YRS OLD. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO, AS THE PROBLEMS RESEMBLE RECALL ISSUES, BUT DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY AREN'T PART OF ANY RECALLS. CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY ON THE ROAD.

WHEN I LOOKED BACK I SAW THE PASSANGER OF THE BACK WINDOW SHATTERED. I CAME INSIDE AND RESEARCHED WHAT I NEEDED TO DO TO HAVE THIS FIXED, I SAW HUNDREDS OF POSTS OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO OTHERS. THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECT THAT FORD IS NOT TAKING CARE OF! THE TRUCK IS A 2013 F150 SUPERCAB WITH 26K MILES IT HAS THE SLIDING GLASS WINDOW WITH DEFROST.

SOUNDED LIKE A BULLET/ROCK HIT WINDOW BUT IMPOSSIBLE DUE TO DIRECTION OF WINDOW AS IT WAS FACING THE BACK OF THE GARAGE. SEEMED ODD BUT WHEN I INVESTIGATED THROUGH MY DEALERSHIP THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE HEARD OF THE REAR DEFROSTER CAUSING THIS BUT BECAUSE IT WAS GLASS AND NOT COVERED TO CONTACT FORD. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT NO RECORDS OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS WERE ON FILE AND THAT THERE WAS NO WAY TO PROVE THAT THE WINDOW WAS BROKEN BY THE DEFROSTER THUS IT WAS NOT COVERED BY MY WARRANTY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY. SINCE THIS IS A POWER THREE GLASS WINDOW WITH DEFROSTER IT WILL NEED FULL REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF OVER $1000 WITH NO GUARANTEE IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.

RECENTLY, FORD ISSUED A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THIS RECALL CAME AFTER 9 REPORTED ACCIDENTS AND 1 INJURY. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. I HAVE A 2013 FORD F 150 LIMITED 4 X 4. I LOST MY BRAKES TWICE WHILE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY IN THE FIRST 4 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. ON JAN 13,2014 WITH APPROX 849 MILES ON THE OD I HAD NO BRAKES. AFTER LETTING THE VEHICLE SIT FOR 8 HRS, MAGICIALLY I HAD FULL BRAKES FUNCTION AND COULD DRIVE TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. ON APRIL 3, 2014 WITH APPROX 2517 MILES ON OD, MY BRAKES FAILED AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING ON THE FREEWAY. I LET THE VEHICLE SIT FOR 8 HOURS AND BY MAGIC THE BRAKES WORKED AS NORMAL. I BELIEVE THERE IS A CORRUPTED PROGRAM IN THE VEHICLE COMPUTER AND THE ABS COMPUTER. THE FIRST LOSS OF BRAKES, THE VACUMN PUMP WAS NOT HOOKED UP AT THE FACTORY. THE BRAKES SHOULD NEVER HAVE WORKED. BUT THEY WORKED PERFECTLY FOR 3 WEEKS BEFORE FAILURE. THE DEALERSHIP HOOKED UP THE VACUMN PUMP. THE SECOND TIME, THE FORD FACTORY INSTRUCTED THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE VACUMN PUMP. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY. FORD WANTED TO KEEP MY VEHICLE AND DRIVE IT EVERY DAY TILL IT FAILED FOR THEM. I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR THE LEASE. NO FINANCIAL HELP FROM THE FACTORY OR DEALERSHIP.

REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER DOES NOT WORK. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS REPORTS OF A DEFECT IN THE WIRING OF THE REAR DEFROSTER THAT CAUSES REAR WINDOWS TO SHATTER IN COLDER WEATHER. DEALER SAYS THE ENTIRE WINDOW AND SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A FAULTY SWITCH. FORD DOES NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECT. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD AS THE REAR WINDOW PANEL COULD SHATTER WHILE DRIVING. REAR DEFROSTER MECHANISM IS LINKED TO SIDE MIRROR DEFROSTER MECHANISM, SO THE ONLY WAY TO DEFROST SIDE MIRRORS IS TO ACTIVATE THE ENTIRE SYSTEM. AFTER TWO TIMES BACK TO THE SHOP, I WAS TOLD BY THE HEAD MECHANIC THAT FORD TOLD HIM NO MORE REPAIRS WILL BE DONE TO THIS TRUCK. I CAN SEE THE BED WOBBLE AS I AM GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND AM CONFIDENT THIS IS WHERE THE PROBLEM IS. FORD IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT CLAIMING THE FREQUENCY IS WITHIN SPECIFICATION LIMITS.
