Per the attached letter to 1 A Auto I installed the subject steering shaft and torqued it per their video instructions. It slipped off causing a complete loss of steering because it wasn't properly fabricated. . Thankfully, I was travelling at low speed and was able to safeky stop, make an emergency repair and got the truck home. It caused a break in the airabag clock spring cable and also broke a cable on the steering wheel that connects the guage control on the steering wheel. I bought another shaft from 1 A Auto but it had the same defect described in the attached letter. I did not intsall the second part from from 1A Auto. I bought another shaft from O'Reilly Auto parts which was properly fabricated by Dorman. These parts from 1 A Auto should be recalled before some is injured. Indeed someone may have already been injured but this issue may not be detected as the cause

I was driving to work and when coming to the parking structure making a right hand turn my steering wheel locked up on me and on the dash Hill Descent Control Fault and Service AdvancedTrac came on the dash. I towed it home and the steering wheel is completely locked.
The truck has stiff steering at slow speeds. It experiences the same as the NHTSA recall 14V-316 or Ford Safety Recall 14S09. It is describe as "Safety Recall 14S09, issued by Ford Motor Company, pertains to certain model year 2014 F-150 trucks manufactured between May 26 and June 19, 2014, and equipped with Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS)." I have taken it to Sugarloaf Ford in Winona Minnesota and they recommend replace. But they do not have it as a recall. In the uploaded files, I have the door sticker and my vehicle with a Manufacturing Date is May 2014. This is in the range of the defect production dates. How do I get the Ford company to replace the part of the recall?

[XXX] was driving the 2014 F150 on a multi lane state road in the afternoon on a sunny and dry afternoon. The vehicle was traveling straight with steady traffic at an intense rate of speed (approximately 45-50 mph) when it all of a changed gears and became difficult for the [XXX] to control, causing the vehicle to hit a guard rail. There was no contributing factors to the accident other than the vehicle's malfunction (i.e. no negative weather, road signals, other vehicles, animal or plant obstructions, intersections, driver error, etc.). At the time of the impact, all of the vehicle's airbags deployed and the driver's seatbelt locked in place. There were no personal injuries - only property damage to the outside of the vehicle, the airbags and seatbelt. Thus far, Ford has refused to replace the airbags, seatbelt/repair the vehicle's property damage despite repeated requests. Ford only fixed the software problem associate with the recall and has taken the position that is the only remedy they are required to do. The vehicle had a complete loss of control of the power steering. Thankfully, it happened in the driveway and not on the highway. The message said Power Steering Assist Fault. Upon doing some research, I found that the NHTSA issued a recall in the past on some of the same vehicles in that model year (14V316000). We were hoping that this vehicle could added to that recall, due to the fact that it is a known issues for this particular model year. Thank you.

When Braking steering wheel locked up and almost caused accident due to not being able to control vehicle with steering wheel.
Steering wheel began erratic movement from right to left causing vehicle to swerve in a deadly fashion. Steering wheel continues to whip from right to left while sitting still on side of road. Vehicle cannot be safely driven at any speed without the risk of losing control.
My truck has been exceptional other than normal repairs. But for approx a year, my power steering capability continued to fail - reverting to manual steering. I was unable to secure an appt with my dealer immediately - leadtimes were 4weeks, so I went to Midas where I knew a couple techs. They advised that my serpentine belt was failing and affecting the electronic controls - which includes my steering column and it needed replacement. I note that I was having battery charge issues too and those have gone away. The fix seemed to work. I paid over 800.00 this past April 2024and all was good. The problem began to manifest again, off and on since Late July and I brought the truck back to Midas. They advised that ford has announced a recall #14509 for this condition. I contacted Davidson Ford, Clay NY, my dealer, advised of the issue and had my truck inspected on 9/24/24. Their inspection confirms the defect but they advise that my truck is NOT covered by the recall. This is ludicrous. This completely unfair and the dealership will not assist nor will ford. They of course blamed you which is laughable. I feel my family is at risk, I cannot in good consciousness sell this vehicle and my trade value is destroyed. I am in a financial bind, retired and can’t afford this.

Sometimes comes on and stomestimes I can drive a entire day with no issues but then towards the end of the day I go to start the truck or be driving and steering locks up and pops up the message says power steering assist fault Luckily everytime it happens it’s right when I start the truck except the few times I was driving and it happen I was on the far right lane and even though it’s hard to turn the wheel I was able to get off on the shoulder when it happens

Steering angle sensors in the electronic steering rack randomly lose signal. This causes an ‘AdvanceTrac’ warning, loss of use of turn signals and ABS faults. Problem randomly clears and then repeats. Some F150s had a steering recall previously, but my specific VIN did not.

I'm currently experiencing problems with what I believe to be the Electronic Power Steering. Other Ford vehicles with many more miles had this recall but ford says mine was not covered. then under 2,000 miles later the power steering went costing $3,130.96 which was also another recall on other ford vehicles same model, same year but Ford says not mine.

When starting my truck I am now getting a hill descent control fault and service advancetrac.also shows a weak battery but the battery is new and has been checked okay.when you get these warnings the power steering becomes inoperable.also no turn signals work.I’ve not been able to get it into my local ford service as of this time.if I keep switching it off and recranking the warnings go away and all is well.what I don’t understand is why anyone would build a vehicle that would shut down your steering because of a warning that goes away. I have since read about other people having this happen while actually driving and losing steering and some power.this could be life threatening if your going about 70 miles an hour in the middle of traffic. I don’t understand how it’s legal to build a vehicle with this system.

Advanctrac service warning came up. Got Codes run they showed the EAPS had a fault. It locked up the power steering while driving down the road and cut off all electrical components in the vehicle.
I was turning into a had station and my advance trac message came on than a loud screeching noise was made and I had no power steering I looked online and it said maybe my battery terminal fuse was bad so I replaced it even though it was fine I did some .ore research and come to find out my epas gear motor went out so I had to order a replacement I asked ford about the recall and they seem to not know anything about it at the dealership so when I called ford corporate they instructed me to call back the dealership so I'm stuck going back and forth it's kinda weird there's a recall for exact thing that went out in my truck and my truck is the same year so I'm a little confused maybe ford true to sweep this under the rug and repace the trucks that came forward years ago and be done with it ohhh did Mention my truck just hit 60k miles
I was travelling down US Highway 1 when I received a dashboard warning "Power Steering Assist Fault." The steering became extremely difficult and required two hands and a lot of exertion to steer the vehicle. Fortunately I was driving straight line at the time of the failure without other vehicles in close proximity. Driver safety was definitely impacted and could have caused a loss of control. The fault has remained on, even after turning on and off the vehicle. The vehicle is with the Ford service center for diagnostics and repair. Vehicle has only 83,000 miles.
The steering went out. It felt like i had no power steering and was barely able to steer. the steering would not come back to neutral. It was almost impossible to drive. The dealer told me they get this issue a few times a week. I had to have the intermediate shaft and both tie rods replaced. I did complain to Ford who more or less said too bad

AS A STRONG MAN HAD TO PRACTICALLY USE ALL MY BODY WEIGHT TO AVOID COLLISION WHILE ALMOST STANDING. GOT IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. DIAGNOSIS WAS DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR. FORD HAD RECALL ON THIS SAME ISSUE BY RECALL #14S09, BUT MY TRUCK WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN AWFUL ACCIDENT. THESE THREE OCCASIONS HAPPENED DURING A 10 MINUTE PERIOD. UNLOCKED SIMILARLY RANDOMLY (ATTEMPTED CRANKING HARDER ON THE WHEEL, JIGGLING, POWER CYCLING THE VEHICLE; NO LINK TO ANY OF THESE). A FEW WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS TRIP, THE STEERING BECAME SUDDENLY NOTCHY (FOUND HARD SPOTS IN ROTATION OF WHEEL THAT I POPPED OVER WITH MORE FORCE) WHILE DRIVING ~STRAIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY, RETURNED TO NORMAL WHEN DRIVING HOME. THEN OVER THE FOLLOWING WEEKS THE WHEEL STOPPED RETURNING TO CENTER AND BECAME STIFF ALL THE TIME AND NOTCHY FREQUENTLY. ATTEMPTED REPLACING INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT, THINKING U-JOINTS WERE BINDING, BUT DID NOT FIX NOTCHY, STIFF STEERING. DIAGNOSIS AT MECHANIC REVEALED ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WAS NONRESPONSIVE TO ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION AND NOT RESPONDING TO COMMANDS WHEN COMMUNICATION WAS ESTABLISHED. REPLACEMENT OF POWER STEERING UNIT FIXED PROBLEM.

I CANNOT FIND ANY OTHER PRECEDENCE FOR THE ISSUE, AND CANNOT FIND ANY GUIDANCE. ALL I KNOW IS THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, AS THERE IS NO TELLING WHETHER OR NOT I WILL BE ABLE TO STEER. DEALER ADVISED THEY NEEDED TO INSTALL NEW ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR PART # EL3Z BE REPLACED WITH PART # EL3Z 3504. TRUCK IS A 2014 FORD F150 WITH ABOUT 56K MILES ON IT. I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS (EASY GOOGLE SEARCH) ABOUT FORDS EPAS GEAR IN THE F150 AND OTHER VEHICLES, CAUSING AN EXPENSIVE REPLACEMENT COST FOR THE ENTIRE STEERING GEAR. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON SIMILAR IF NOT SAME PART FOR EPAS ON F150 AND OTHERS. AS AS I EXITING I-95 ONTO AN OFF RAMP IN A 2014 F-150 (GOING ABOUT 45MPH AT THE TIME OF BREAKING) I STARTED TO BRAKE IN ORDER TO SLOW TO AN APPROPRIATE SPEED TO MAKE A SLIGHT RIGHT CURVED TURN. WITHIN 1-2 SECONDS, MY STEERING LOCKED UP, AND THE TIRES BEGAN TO SCREECH. I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL MY STEERING AND THE BRAKES DID NOT SEEM TO RESPOND TO THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE I WAS PUTTING ON THE BREAK PEDAL. WHILE I DID EVENTUALLY STOP, I WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY REAR ENDED SOMEONE IF THEY WERE IN FRONT OF ME. THANKFULLY I HAD AN OPEN LANE. ONCE I WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED, THE CAR RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND INSPECT MY VEHICLE. I WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING THAT WOULD SIGNAL AN ISSUE, SO I DROVE IT HOME AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO IF THE SYSTEM WAS NOT REGISTERING ANY ERRORS AND THE TRUCK WAS (CURRENTLY) PERFORMING NORMAL. ADDITIONALLY, ABOUT 1 MONTH PRIOR, AS I WAS ACCELERATING AND THEN BEGAN TO BRAKE DUE TO A STOP LIGHT CHANGE, THE BRAKE PETAL BEGAN TO VIBRATE AND THE CAR MADE A 3 SECOND GRINDING SOUND UNTILL I LET OFF THE BRAKE, AND AGAIN PERFORMED NORMALLY THEREAFTER.

FLORTUNATELY FOR FOCUS, MY VEHICLE WAS A A COMPLETE STOP, AS UNABLE STRAIGHTEN WHEEL. VEHICLE NOT DRIVEABLE, HAD TO TOW BOTH VEHICLES, AND NOW BEING OUT TRANSPORTATION. THE 2014 WAS PURCHASED IN SPRINGFIELD MISSOURI, THE END OF MARCH; BUT NOT EVER NOTIFIED OF ANY RECALLS, AND ONLY HAVE HAD VEHICLE 1 1/2 MONTHS OR SO. THIS ISSUE HAS CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN FATAL FOR THE OTHER VEHICLE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW TO PROCEED WITH FORD.

2014 F150 STEERING LOUD GRINDING PROBLEM, WILL MOVING SLOWLY FORWARD THREW A DRIVE THRU, I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE MAXIMUM RIGHT POSITION RATHER QUICKLY TO GO AROUND THE CORNER AND THERE WAS A LOUD GEAR GRINDING NOISE WHICH SOUNDED LIKE IT CAME FROM THE RIGHT FRONT JUST AS THE STEERING WHEEL HAD REACHED ITS MAXIMUM TURNING, THIS NOISE WAS LOUD AND SOUNDED LIKE A STARTER NOT CATCHING DURING A CRANK, IT GOES IN ON TUESDAY FOR SERVICE. I WAS ABLE TO REPEAT THE GRIND NOISE ONCE MORE ONLY TO THE RIGHT A MAX TURN WILL MOVING, I WILL SEE WHAT THEY SAY ON TUESDAY. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED WITHOUT WARNING AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE CODE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V373000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 800.

I BACKED OUT OF A SPACE AT A FLA TURNPIKE SVC PLAZA. THEN AS I PULLED FORWARD AT 3 MPH, I TURNED TO THE RIGHT. AT THAT MOMENT THE STEERING COLUMN TORQUED HARD TO THE RIGHT AND THE TRUCK BECAME ELEVATED 12 OR MORE INCHES JUST ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE. AFTER A MINUTE THE STEERING COLUMN CAME TO A NORMAL POSITION AND THE TRUCK SETTLED INTO A NORMAL STANCE. AT THE DEALER TODAY, THE NEXT DAY. *TR

WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON DASH ABOUT STABILITY OR TRACTION CONTROL, NO 4X4 LIGHTS WERE SHOWING EVEN THOUGH I HAD IT IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. WITHIN SECONDS I COULD NOT CONTROL MY TRUCK IN THE SNOW AND THE STEERING WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO CHANGE MY COURSE OF DIRECTION. THIS TRUCK ACTED LIKE IT WAS NOT IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. MY TRUCK SLAMMED/SLID SIDEWAYS INTO A CURB ON THE ROTARY BY MY HOME CAUSING $2129.19 DAMAGES TO TIRES AND RIMS AND FRONT END PARTS. AFTER I HIT THE CURB THE 4X4 LIGHT WAS SHOWING AS WAS THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS AND I WAS ABLE TO STEER MY TRUCK AND KEEPING IT FROM DROPPING OVER AN EMBANKMENT. MY SPEED WAS 15 MILES PER HOUR AS I CAME TOWARDS THE ROTARY. I CONTACTED FORD AND RECEIVED A CALL BACK 11/6/14 STATING THAT I NEEDED TO GO THROUGH MY INSURANCE AND THAT MY INSURANCE COMPANY WAS WELCOME TO SUBROGATE THIS WITH FORD LEGAL COUNSEL. THE WOMAN THAT CALLED WOULD NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTION ABOUT WHAT THIS ALL MEANT JUST THAT I NEEDED TO DEAL WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY OVER AND OVER. *TR
