The rear-view camera began working intermittently, and displaying a scrambled image when it did not work. It then stopped working all together and now only displays a blank screen. This began about 2 years ago, and it finally stopped working altogether about 1 year ago. I want to report it because the current rear-view camera recall stops at the 2015 model year, but my 2014 has the same problem.

Rear backup camera shows a blank screen intermittently / unpredictably. The dealership was unable to replicate it (because it occurs intermittently) while in for another repair so no repair attempt was made. It makes backing out of parking spaces safely difficult. It's been like this for about 5 years. I can make it available for inspection.

Rear camera stop working while driving in reverse

Turned on rear window and heated mirror defrost. Rear window cracked loudly and broke in a spiderwebbed manner after about 10-15 minutes of the defrost being turned on. Tempered glass kept it from blowing completely out. May have caused injury if a passenger had been sitting in rear crew cab seat at the time. Spoke with Safelite auto glass repair, was told they see this frequently with F150 trucks and think there is a problem with defrost function not shutting off like it should, causing excessive heat to window which eventually breaks the glass.

Rear glass shattered spontaneously. There are many reports of this issue over a wide range of model years and no acknowledgement from Ford. Vehicle was parked with engine running and rear defrost on, no prior damage to the rear window. The drivers side rear glass shattered suddenly with a loud bang and rained small glass slivers down on rear occupants. Was quoted $1080 by a glass installer for replacement. They said this is a common issue with these trucks.

Back passenger side small window (one of three across the back, with a sliding center) spontaneously shattered tonight. It’s in the upper 30s and nothing hit it. I had just started the vehicle and began to move when two of my daughters and I heard a loud sound. My daughter said the window shattered. It’s still altogether but is spidered all over. There’s no evidence of anything hitting the window inside or out. Weirdest thing. I looked online and it seems this has happened to a lot of ford truck owners. The speculation is the rear defrost over heating. But I think since I saw so many online that had the same thing happen to them, I wanted to file a complaint. Ford should be replacing these windows. Obviously it’s a manufacture defect. Thanks.

2 complaints 1st was my back window spiderwebbed without being hit when it was super cold in wisconsin on Dec 22 2022. It was a loud bang really startled me and I had no clue what happened until the next day. 2nd my wipers will turn on by them self sometimes and there is no intermittent wipers just the medium speed where there is no hesitation or delay.

2014 F150 Lariat owned since it was new. Windshield wipers failed to come on during Florida thunderstorm while driving on I-10 Westbound from Jacksonville Florida. Was totally unable to see out of the windshield and had to pull over until the rainstorm subsided. Checked all relevant fuses and relays and wiper switch. Nothing so far has been able to fix this Safety Defect. Ford knows the part is defective because the Windshield wiper motor is not available from Ford or any dealer, and there is no expectation by the dealer than anything will ever be available to fix this Safety Defect.

34 degree morning at around 8 AM. Used my remote start, and had the vehicle running for a few minutes. Got into my vehicle and the passenger side rear glass (sliding rear windshield) was shattered.

Truck has the heated 3 piece power rear window. I used the remote start on the truck while parked in an open detached garage while outdoor temperature was +5 degrees Fahrenheit. After approximately 10 minutes of warmup time I approached the truck and the driver side section of the glass made a exploding sound. The window stayed in place but was shattered into thousands of small pieces. It only takes a few moments of internet searching to easily see that this is a know problem that has happened to over a thousand Ford F150 owners of simular years to mine 2014. When "remote start" is used the Rear Window defrost system automatically engages. There is a manufacturing or design flaw in the window or defrost control system on these Trucks. I was visiting my Mother in Wauwatosa WI 53226 when this incident occurred.

During commute to work this morning I heard what sounded like a rock hit the top of my truck. Seemed strange since I was on Highway 101 and not under anything. Later I noticed that the rear window on the driver’s side was spidered completely throughout. Internet search suggested this was just one of many times Ford F-150 trucks have had this happen, but no recall has been issued. Not happy as this repair will be approximately $750 of my hard earned money Had I been transporting one of my family members in the back it could have been worse.

I have researched this problem of the rear window defroster not working and the rear window exploding. There are several hundred cases of this but nothing has been done. Ford has not been receptive to fix this issue and I think it is time to hold them accountable. They will offer to replace the window at over $1200. This is something that should be a safety concern since you really can't clean this without getting into the bed of the truck which is dangerous especially in winter time. This also affects the side mirrors. I am quite fed up with these companies not being held accountable.

WE WERE DRIVING AT 55 MPH DOWN HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY TRUCKS REAR END JUMPED UP IN THE AIR I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER GOT TOWED TO SHOP TO FIND OUT THE REAR END TRANSFER CASE AND TRANSMISSION HAD LOCKED UP AND COMPLETLY STRIPPED EVERYTHING TEETH WERE BROKEN ON ALL PARTS PIECES LITTERALLY FELL OUT OF THE REAR END WHILE TAKING IT APART PUT ALL NEW PARTS IN TRUCK REAR END TRANSFER AND TRANSMISSION ONLY TO HAVE IT TO DO AGAIN ONLY THIS TIME I WAS GOING 30 MPH SO IT DIDNT DESTROY POWER TRAIN THIS TIME ONLY SHOT TO FIRST GEAR AND STAYED THERE LIMP MODE IS WHAT THEY CALL IT AND I FOUND A RECALL ON CERTAIAN 2013 2014 2015 AND 2016 MODELS YET IT ISNT SHOWING UP ONLINE HERE THE MECHANIC SAID THAT EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED TO THE FIRST POWER TRAIN HOW IT WAS GUTTED FROM REAR END TO TRANSMISSION I WAS TOWING A TRAILER THE FIRST TIME HE SAID THAT WAS THE ONLY THING THAT KEPT ME FROM FLIPPING LUCKY ME SO HOW DO I GET FORD TO NAME THIS A RECALL AND REIMBURSE MY FIRST BILL CONCERNED CONSUMER

I STARTED MY TRUCK WITH AUTOMATIC START SO THAT IT COULD WARM UP. WHEN I WAS READY TO LEAVE I WENT OUTSIDE, GOT INTO TRUCK AND PUT THE KEYS IN. I WAS ABOUT TO BACK UP WHEN I NOTICED MY BACK WINDOW HAD FOG ON IT SO I TRIED TO TURN ON THE REAR DEFOGGER. THE LIGHT WOULD NOT COME ON SAYING THAT IT WAS ON SO I PUSHED THE BUTTON A FEW MORE TIMES. THE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. I WAS ABOUT TO BACK MY TRUCK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEAR A LOUD BANG AND MY SON, WHO WAS IN THE BACK SEAT FACING FORWARD WITH HIS SEATBELT ON, SAID THE BACK WINDOW IS CRACKING. THE REAR POWER SLIDING DEFROSTING WINDOW WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO WHEN THE REAR DEFROSTER AND HEATED MIRRORS STOPPED WORKING AND IT NOW STOPPED WORKING AGAIN AND IS CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE DESIGN AS THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME CONDITION AND EVEN SOME WHERE THE WINDOW SHATTERS FROM OVERHEATING. IT FIRST HAPPENED AROUND 23,000 MILES AND NOW AGAIN AT 54,000 MILES.

THE TEMPERATURE WAS COOL OUT AND MY DRIVER'S MIRROR WAS FOGGED UP. I TURNED ON MY MIRROR DEFROST AND APPROX. 5 MINUTES LATER HEARD A LOUD BANG. I STOPPED THE TRUCK TO SE IF SOMETHING HAD HIT MY TRUCK AND FOUND THE DRIVER'S SIDE PORTION OF MY REAR WINDSHIELD WAS SHATTERED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A RURAL ISOLATED ROAD WITH NO OTHER VEHICLES AROUND AT THE TIME AND NO HOMES IN THE AREA. THE WINDOW TINE KEPT THE GLASS IN PLACE AND THERE WERE NO HOLES IN THE TINT WHERE SOMETHING PIERCED THE GLASS. WHEN THE SUN CAME I UP CHECKED MORE CLOSELY AND IT APPEARS AS IF THE GLASS SHATTERED FROM INSIDE THE FRAME WHERE THE DEFROST WIRE WAS. I CALLED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED NO RECALLS. WHEN I SEARCHED ONLINE I FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE REAR DEFROSTER ON FORD F150 PICK-UPS. I PAID MY $500 DEDUCTIBLE TO HAVE THE GLASS REPLACED.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE ATLANTIC CITY EXPRESSWAY ON JANUARY 20TH AND AT APPROXIMATELY 3:30 PM, I HEARD A VERY LOUD POP, AS IF A ROCK HAD HIT MY WINDSHIELD. I CHECKED AND SAW NOTHING, THEN LOOKED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR AND SAW THAT THE REAR VIEW WINDOW ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE HAD JUST SHATTERED. IT WAS A CLEAR DAY WITH LIGHT TRAFFIC AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED. I HAD MY SOFT COVER ON AND IT WAS STILL ON WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP THAT WOUND UP REPLACING THE WINDOW. THE OWNER OF THE SHOP SAID HE HADN'T SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. HE CALLED FORD TO SEE IF THEY HAD ANY INFORMATION AND HE WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY HAD NO RECALLS. UNFORTUNATELY I DIDN'T TAKE A PICTURE OF IT. HOWEVER, I DID SEARCH ONLINE AND SAW THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED SIMILAR OCCURRENCES. I ALSO SAW THAT YOUR ORGANIZATION IS INTERESTED IN RECEIVING REPORTS SUCH AS THIS, SO THAT IS WHY I AM SUBMITTING IT. IT DEFINITELY SURPRISED ME WHEN IT HAPPENED AND I AM THANKFUL NO OTHER VEHICLE WAS NEARBY AS I DID SWERVE INITIALLY. I AM ENCLOSING THE INVOICE I RECEIVED FROM THE REPAIR SHOP. THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED THIS MORNING FROM HAVING MY REAR DEFROSTER ON. I TURNED MY DEFROSTERS ON BEFORE WORK THIS MORNING AND THEN DROVE APPROX 3 MILES BEFORE HEARING A LOUD SOUND FROM THE TOP REAR OF MY VEHICLE. IT WAS A CLEAR 1 LANE ROAD SO IT WASN'T POSSIBLE FOR ANYTHING TO HAVE HIT ME. EVENTUALLY I SAW THAT THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. THE ONLY THING UNIQUE WAS THAT I HAD MY DEFROSTERS ON. I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF THIS COULD HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE AND QUICKLY REALIZED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE REPORTED MY MANY PEOPLE. HOWEVER, IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE FORD WILL ACCEPT IT AS THEIR FAULT.

2013-2014 BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER....MY 2014 F150 HAS THIS SAME FAILURE WITH 58K MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND INCLUDE THIS VEHICLE IN THE RECALL. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE THIS MORNING AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHEN SLOWING TO MERGE ONTO A US HIGHWAY HERE IN DAGSBORO, DELAWARE 19939. WINDSHIELD WIPER/TURN SIGNAL SWITCH RECALL....THIS 2014 FORD F150 HAS THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THOSE THAT FALL UNDER THE RECALL NOTICE WHEREAS THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN COME ON AND YOU CANNOT GET IT TO TURN OFF. NO MATTER IF YOU ARE MOVING OR NOT THIS CAN OCCUR SPORADICALLY WITHOUT WARNING.

MY TRUCK WAS PARKED IN A STATIONARY POSITION FOR 8 HOURS. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING IMPACTING MY WINDOW AND ACCORDING TO THE GOVERNMENT MECHANICS THAT LOOKED AT MY WINDOW, "HEAT GOT TO IT", MY WINDOW WAS BROKEN BY THE ELEMENTS.

THE RECIRCULATION/FRESH AIR FLAP DOOR CONNECTION TO THE ACTUATOR BROKE OFF AND FELL INTO THE AC HEATER BLOWER MOTOR FAN. CURRENT RESULTS ARE; 1) NO CONTROL OVER AIR FLOW WHETHER WITHIN THE CABIN (RECIRCULATION VERSUS "FRESH" AIR) AND 2) THAT IT MAKES A TERRIBLE NOISE AND VIBRATION AS THE BROKEN PART IS WITHIN THE CIRCULAR FAN. EVENTUAL RESULT COULD BE 1) BURN-OUT OF THE FAN MOTOR WITH POSSIBLE OVERHEATING OF THE FAN MOTOR (ELECTRICAL FIRE?), 2) HEAT PROBLEMS FOR PASSENGERS 3) FAILURE TO DEFROST WINDSHIELD UNDER COLD CONDITIONS. IN READING INTERNET POSTINGS (FORUMS), THIS IS APPARENTLY A COMMON PROBLEM WITH A HIGH COST TO HAVE REPAIRED, FOR A SIMPLE BROKEN PIECE OF PLASTIC.

I ALSO SINCE THEN INSTALLED A VAPOR CATCH CAN FOR OVER 400$. IT'S A SHAME YOU HAVE TO DO THAT. ALSO I RECENTLY HAD MY REAR DEFROST ON THE STOP WORKING ON THE MODEL WITH THE REAR SLIDING WINDOW. WHICH AGAIN HAS MANY COMPLAINTS. FORDS FIX IS TO REPLACE THE WHOLE REAR WINDOW AT A HEAVY PRICE. BOX BEING ABLE TO DEFROST IS A MAJOR VISIBILITY ISSUE ESPECIALLY IN THE WINTER. BOTH ISSUES HAVE MANY COMPLAINT ONLINE AND FORD HASN'T FIXED EITHER. THE PICTURE OF THE COKE BOTTLE IS WHAT DRAINED OUT OF THE CATCH CAN BY NPR. IT WAS 1 MONTH OF COMMUTING AND A 8 HOUR ROAD TRIP.

I CALLED SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT FORD DEALERSHIP TODAY TO FIND OUT ON RECALLS OR IF EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULD COVER REPLACEMENT. THEY SAID THEY WOULD CHECK AND GET BACK TO ME BUT NO CALL YET.

AFTER SHUTTING OF THE VEHICLE, AND EXITING THE VEHICLE, ONE THIRD OF THE WINDOW BLEW UP. I WAS INFORMED THAT APPARENTLY FORD WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THOSE WINDOWS. THE WINDOW WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT NO COST WELL FOR THE LAST YEAR I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE REAR DEFROSTER. IT IS NOT WORKING. WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH ON A SMOOTH ROAD ON A 30 DAY A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD. THE BACK REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW PANEL OF THE REAR SLIDING WINDOW SHATTERED. THE GLASS DID STAY IN POSITION UNTIL IT COULD BE TAPED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE REAR DEFROST / MIRROR HEAT WAS ON AT THE TIME. THIS CREATED AN UNSAFE CONDITION FOR MY REAR FACING 4 MONTH OLD CHILD BEHIND THE DRIVER SEAT AND 3 YEAR OLD CHILD BEHIND THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS THE 2ND REAR WINDOW FOR THIS TRUCK. THE FIRST REAR WINDOW THE DEFROST SYSTEM QUIT WORKING. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE. I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THEY WILL BE REPLACING THE WINDOW.

UPON FURTHER RESEARCH AND INVESTIGATION THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE. IT IS FROM THE WAY THE WINDOW IS MADE IN A PLASTIC HOUSING, WHEN THE REAR DEFROSTER COMES ON IT HEATS THE GLASS, AND THE GLASS HAS NO ROOM FOR EXPANSION AND IT CAUSES IT TO SHATTER. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS 22 DEGREES F.

WAS SET TO AUTOMATICALLY COME ON WHEN REMOTE STARTING TRUCK. TEMP WAS BETWEEN 20-25 F. REAR WINDOW DEFROST BUTTON NOW LIGHTS UP FOR THE FIRST TIME. QUICK INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS EXACT SCENARIO HAPPENS TO THOUSANDS OF OTHERS WITH THIS TRUCK. A RANDOM EXPLODING WINDOW DUE TO HAVING A REAR DEFROST ON IN THE WINTER SHOULD NOT BE PAID FOR BY THE OWNER. THIS IS A CLEAR DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE.

THERE IS NO WAY THAT "IMPACT" CAUSE THE WINDOW TO EXPLODE, SINCE I HAVE A SHELL/TOPPER ON THE BACK. THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR DEFROSTER SYSTEM ON ALL FORD F150'S FROM 2011THRU 2016. IT EITHER JUST STOPS WORKING CAUSING A ELECTRICAL SHORT AND POSSIBLE FIRE AND ELECTRICAL DAMAGE OR BODILY INJURY IF CONTACTED BY A PERSON, OR MOST COMMONLY IT WILL SHATTER THE REAR WINDOW CAUSING A VISUAL OBSTRUCTION OUT THE REAR WHILE DRIVING. ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THIS DEFECT IS THAT WHEN THE WINDOW DOES SHATTER, IT HAS BEEN KNOWN TO CREATE A HOLE IN THE GLASS WHICH COULD LEAD AGAIN TO A PERSON BEING INJURED WITH THE BROKEN GLASS. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THIS, AND WITHIN 20 MINUTES I HAVE DISCOVERED OVER 200 OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY THE DEALERS NOR THE CUSTOMERS NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURE OF THE ISSUE. I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY OF THESE HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY WARRANTY, BUT IT SEEMS THAT THE FORD DEALERS SAY IT IS A $700 REPAIR BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE REAR WINDOW AND THERE FOR NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF FIXING IT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE RISK OF POSSIBLE BODILY INJURY AND DRIVING HAZARD RESTRICTING THE VISION WHILE DRIVING. PLEASE, COULD YOU HELP WITH RESOLVING THIS SERIOUS ISSUE. THANK YOU

REMOTE STARTED 2014 FORD F-150. REAR WINDOW HEATER WAS ON DUE TO DEW ON REAR WINDOW. OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATE WAS 42 DEGREES F. TRUCK WAS RUNNING OUTSIDE FOR 5 MINUTES. LOADED 2 CHILDREN UP AND DROVE 30 SECONDS WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP. PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVE'RS WINDOW WAS COMPLETELY CRACKED. SMALL GLASS PARTICLES WERE NOTICED. WINDOW FRAME WAS VERY HOT TO THE TOUCH AND VISIBILITY WAS GREATLY REDUCED. THIS APPEARS TO BE EITHER A DEFECT OF THE HEATING ELEMENT, CONTROLLER, OR WINDOW.

LEFT MOST REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. I USED THE REMOTE START TO TURN ON THE VEHICLE FOR A FEW MIN TO WARM IT UP THEN AS I GOT IN I SAT THERE FOR A COUPLE MINUTES WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THE REAR GLASS SHATTERED. AFTER THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL IN THE TRUCK. I NOTICED BURN MARKS ON THE PLASTIC HOUSING SURROUNDING THE GLASS. TRUCK WAS STATIONARY AND NOT A SINGLE PERSON WAS AROUND ME SO I KNEW AN OBJECT DIDN'T HIT IT UNLESS IT WAS A METEORITE. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND NOTICED THOUSANDS OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS HAS TO BE RECALLED FOR SAFETY. I WORK AT THE FORD PLANT IN BUFFALO AND THEY NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS. I SHOULDN'T BE PAYING OUT OF MY POCKET FOR THESE FAULTY DEFROSTERS.

ON THE MORNING OF AUGUST 10, 2018, I WAS DRIVING WHEN I HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE INSIDE OF THE TRUCK. WHEN I VIEWED THE DAMAGE, THE BACK WINDSHIELD WAS SHATTERED FROM THE INSIDE. LOOKING FROM THE OUTSIDE, THERE WAS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE.

I WAS SITTING IDLE IN MY FORD F-150 TRUCK (ENGINE RUNNING) IN THE DRIVE-THROUGH AT MCDONALDS, NOT MOVING, WHEN THERE WAS SUDDENLY A LOUD BANG INSIDE THE TRUCK (LIKE A GUNSHOT). THERE WAS ALSO AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL. I LOOKED AROUND AND SAW THAT THE REAR QUARTER GLASS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF MY REAR WINDSHIELD HAD SHATTERED. THE REAR SCREEN HEATER WAS ON AT THE TIME. THERE WAS NOTHING THROWN AT THE TRUCK, AND NOTHING HIT IT. THE GLASS HAD TOTALLY SHATTERED ACROSS BUT WAS BEING HELD INTACT BY THE FACTORY TINT. I HAD TO HAVE THE GLASS REPLACED AT A COST OF $750, AS THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE INDIVIDUAL BROKEN PIECE OF GLASS CANNOT BE REPLACED, SO THE WHOLE REAR SCREEN HAD TO BE REPLACED. I DISCONNECTED THE REAR SCREEN HEATER ON MY REPLACEMENT SCREEN TO MAKE SURE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. READING ONLINE IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE, AND AN EXPENSIVE FIX. MOREOVER, ALL OF MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIPS HAD SOLD OUT OF THE REAR WINDOW AND WOULD HAVE TAKEN UP TO 16 DAYS TO ORDER IN (AND AT A COST OF $850+ !!), WHICH MAKES ME THINK THIS IS MORE COMMON ISSUE THAN FORD IS LETTING ON. LUCKILY I FOUND A LOCAL COMPANY THAT WOULD DO IT A FEW DAYS LATER, BUT AGAIN, AT A COST OF $750 TO ME FOR A DEFECTIVE PART WHICH SHOULD BE RECALLED. DURING THE TIME I HAD TO USE THE TRUCK WITH A SHATTERED REAR WINDOW, I TAPED IT UP TO PREVENT THE GLASS SPILLING INTO THE TRUCK INTERIOR (CAN BE SEEN IN THE PICTURE).

I HAVE AN F150 SUPER CREW CAB WITH A POWER SLIDING WINDOW IN THE BACK THAT IS 3 SEPARATE PIECES OF GLASS. WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 50 MPH WITH THE REAR WINDOW DEFROST ON, THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WINDOW SUDDENLY SHATTERED (STAYED MOSTLY IN TACT BUT SPIDERWEBED THROUGHOUT). IT MADE A LOUD BANG LIKE THE SOUND OF SOMETHING FALLING ON THE ROOF OR A GUNSHOT. THERE IS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND IT IS VERY APARENT THAT THIS WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE OF EITHER THE WINDOW OR THE REAR DEFROST OVERHEATING. I AM AFRAID THAT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM IF MY DAUGHTER HAD BEEN IN THE CARSEAT WHICH IS DIRECTLY UNDER IT SINCE SMALL PIECES OF GLASS DID COME OUT. THIS IS A 2014 MODEL WITH APPROXIMATELY 32,000 MILES. THERE ARE LOTS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE IF YOU DO A WEB SEARCH FOR F150S RANGING FROM 2010 TO 2014.

I GOT BACK IN LOOKED OUT MY REAR WINDOW AND THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. YOU COULD TELL THAT IT WASN'T HIT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO FOCAL POINT WHERE SOMEONE OR SOMETHING WOULD HAVE MADE CONTACT. THE ENTIRE THING WAS SHATTERED.

THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID SYSTEM GETS FROZEN DURING 10 OR BELOW WEATHER. I'VE TRIED USING NAME BRAND WIPER FLUID RATED FOR THE WINTER AND EVEN ADDING MORE ALCOHOL. ALSO TRIED CLEANING OUT THE NOZZLES AND POURING WARM WATER. ONLY THING THAT ADDRESSES IT IS PARKING THE VEHICLE IN A HEATED GARAGE. HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR SERVICE AND THEY REPLACED THE FLUID WITH THEIR PREFERRED BRAND AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. SO THIS DEFINITELY IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID OR RANDOM CIRCUMSTANCE OF FREEZING NOZZLES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS DURING THE WINTER AS ROAD SALT AND GRIME SPRAYS ON TO THE WINDSHIELD AND VISIBILITY DROPS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JOHN KENNEDY FORD - FEASTERVILLE LOCATED AT 620 BUSTLETON PIKE, FEASTERVILLE-TREVOSE, PA 19053 FOR REPAIRS BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE REAR GLASS SHATTERING WAS A KNOWN FORD FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

REAR DEFROSTER WAS NOT WORKING, I ACTUALLY REALIZED IT WHEN HITTING THE REAR DEFROST ON/OFF BUTTON BY MISTAKE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THIS IS KNOWN AND COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE F -150. I NOTICED THE PROBLEM WHEN I WAS A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND 2000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. (DIDN'T NEED REAR DEFROST FOR MANY MONTHS). I NEVER NEEDED MY REAR DEFROSTER DURING THE SUMMER IN MICHIGAN. I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM EVEN BEFORE THE FIRST TIME I NEEDED TO USE IT IN THE FALL. WHEN I TOOK IT IN THE DEALER LED ME TO BELIEVE THAT FORD WOULD PAY FOR THIS BECAUSE IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. FORD DENIED THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND TOLD ME THEY WOULD ONLY COVER PART OF THE REPAIR, LEAVING ME WITH A $250.00 FEE. THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTERS ON THE F-150 ARE A SAFETY HAZARD AND CAN CAUSE THE REAR WINDOW TO EXPLODE IF NOT REPLACED. THE SERVICE TEAM INFORMED ME THAT I WAS LUCKY THAT MINE HADN'T EXPLODED. I ONLY NOTICED IT BECAUSE MY BUTTON ON MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DIDN'T ILLUMINATE WHEN I TIED TO USE THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER. FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD BE ASHAMED AT THE WAY THEY ARE HIDING THIS KNOWN ISSUE.

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED TO MY TRUCK(I WILL BE SUBMITTING A SECOND COMPLAINT REGARDING THAT INCIDENT.

UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE AND PLACING IT IN REVERSE, I NOTICED THAT THE REAR WINDOW (DRIVER'S SIDE, NON-SLIDING PORTION) WAS SHATTERED. I EXITED THE TRUCK TO INSPECT AND COULD HEAR CRACKING NOISES, LIKE RICE CRISPIES, AS IT WAS STILL CRACKING. THERE HAD NOT BEEN ANY IMPACT TO THE GLASS PREVIOUSLY AND THERE WAS NO IMPACT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE TRUCK IS APPROXIMATELY 24 MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF PURCHASE AND HAS 20,8XX MILES. I HAVE CONTACTED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER TO INQUIRE ABOUT WARRANTY CLAIMS.

WHILE DRIVING (IN MOTION) PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR CAME OFF HITTING THE CLOSED PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW... THERE WAS NO KNOWN OR VISIBLE SIGN OF DAMAGE TO THE MIRROR... IN FACT THE MIRROR LINKAGE WAS FOUND ON THE GROUND ALONG WITH THE MIRROR.. THE MIRROR JUST DISCONNECTED AND FLEW OFF.. A PERSON WAS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SIDE.. THE LOUD UNEXPECTED BANG WHEN THE MIRROR HIT THE WINDOW SHOCKED THE PASSENGER AND CAUSED A NECK SPRAIN TO THE DRIVER. IF THE WINDOW HAD BEEN OPEN THE PASSENGER WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT IN THE FACE.. DRIVER SIDE REAR BED WINDOW SHATTERED, WHILE STANDING STILL IN MY DRIVEWAY. COLD MORNING AND THE REMOTE STARTUP WAS USED TO WARM UP TRUCK. I ASSUME THE TRUCK AUTOMATICALLY TURNS ON DEFROSTERS WHEN IT SENSES CERTAIN OUTSIDE TEMPS. WENT OUT TO TRUCK WHILE IT WAS RUNNING, LOADED SOME THINGS IN, CLOSED THE DOOR AND HEARD A LOAD POP. COULDN'T SEE WHAT MADE SOUND AT TIME AND WENT BACK INT THE HOUSE. CAME BACK OUT AND GOT INTO THE TRUCK TO GO TO WORK AND LOOKED THROUGH REAR WINDOW AND SAW THAT GLASS WAS SHATTERED.

I PAID $48,000 FOR THIS TRUCK AND HAVE 750 MILES ON IT AND IT IS COSTING ME HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS IN REPAIRS ALREADY!!!
