Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact discovered a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the mileage was 85,000. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for a trade-in, and it was later discovered that the mileage on the title was 185,000. Upon further investigation, the contact found out that Sheridan Motors had bought the vehicle from the original owner and that the dealer was the one who had rolled back the odometer. The contact contacted the Department of Transportation Bureau of Investigation and Identity Protection.

Vehicle caught firer while we where asleep. Vehicle was looked at by fire dept and origin of fire was undetermined.

Started driving, about 2 minutes in, I noticed an electrical burn smell, and turned to look in the backseat, and it was filling with smoke, and my two young kids started coughing. I rolled all windows down and pulled over as quick as possible, unloaded both kids from rear driver side door. Saw smoke billowing out from behind the car seat on the passenger rear side, so I circled around to that door and went to inspect, right before removing the car seat I heard a loud pop and took off running just to be safe. After about 5 minutes I returned to the truck to notice the entire back windshield was shattered, chunks of glass inside and outside of the truck.

I turned on the rear defroster to my truck. It was by mistake As I ment to push the MAX AC button. I didn't immediately turn it off. Instantly after turning it on I smelt a strong electrical/burnt small. About 30 seconds later we heard a loud POP. When I looked in the rear view mirror, I saw the back window had shattered. It was very hot to the touch.

This is the 2nd time this has happened in 2 years. I have my truck turned off completely and locked and go to get back in it a few hours later and I open my door and the gas from the airbag has completely filled up the cab of my 2015 f150. I turn the truck on and it’s like it’s been in a wreck, all the lights on the dash are on, and it’s saying my airbags are deployed which the gas that fills the airbag did deploy, and it keeps telling me to contact 911. How does this keep happening without ford making a recall or not taking responsibility. It could seriously hurt or I hurt me or my family.

While driving at 60 mph my vehicle went from the 6th gear down to 1st gear on its own bringing the truck speed down very quickly the vehicle behind me almost hit me in the rear I pulled over speedometer stopped working and a imagine of a wrench was on the dashboard I cleared the wrench 🔧 image on the dashboard and tried to restart the truck turned the key and nothing happened tried again and truck started pulled out and started driving home 4 miles away and it happened again when I got home I googled it and found it is a known problem with the transmission in the 2015 ford f150 where the sensors in the transmission fail to read your speed and then reacts as if the vehicle is stopped so it then puts the transmission into 1st gear where it would be when you are stopped which creates a very dangerous situation especially if you are on a crowded road at higher speeds

While parked and shut off at a gas station in Lakeside, CA, my 2015 Ford F‑150 XLT spontaneously caught fire under the hood. The fire appeared to originate in the fuse box area, specifically where the fuel pump relay is integrated. The incident posed significant risk, occurring near a fuel pump while my child was in the vehicle. A gas station employee assisted with extinguishing the fire. The cause is believed to be an electrical short. There were no modifications or recent repairs.

The contact stated that upon inspecting underneath the passenger's side seat, the contact noticed that the module wiring was burned and melted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the wiring and a connector underneath the front passenger's side seat had melted. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 120,000.

The contact stated that while towing a trailer and driving approximately 30 MPH, the electronic trailer braking system erroneously activated, causing the vehicle to abruptly stop. The contact stated that minutes later there was a burning odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The contact removed the main fuse, and the electronic trail brake was released. The contact determined that the Electronic Trailer Brake Control Module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 94,000.

This vehicle was purchased by a friend with the factory tow package. No modifications were made before my purchase three years ago. I installed a factory brake controller for a travel trailer I purchased. The software was enabled with Forscan, and the dealer updated the software to the latest available. Even with a new seven way plug, the truck displays "trailer disconnected" when using the slide brake and also never shows any output when braking. The brakes do engage but very mildly. The travel trailer brakes normally on my other vehicle. There are no fault codes and no obvious connection issues. The dealership today said they do no know the cause and would likely be unable to resolve it.

Truck down shifts hard while driving. Hill assist warning light comes on and truck goes into limp mode and looses power going 60 mph. Pull over truck runs very rough. Turn truck off and back on screen says hill assist not available. Press ok and truck runs normal again. Happens every few days. Definitely could be dangerous if it happens on a bigger highway. Has happened 5 times over last few weeks at different speeds.

A few years back, I was having an issue with my truck shifting hard. I actually took it to a friend's shop and he repaired it, for about $1600. They changed a "chip" in it. The vehicle was never inspected by Ford, or the police, or my insurance company. The problem was identified by the repair shop and taken care of, or so I thought. The issue seemed fixed for a while but within the last year the issue has begun again. The transmission will not shift at times. It seems stuck, which causes the engine to rev very high. I worry about causing lasting damage to the engine as a result of the transmission sticking.

Was traveling 75 MPH while towing a trailer. Truck was in 6th gear cruising. No fault codes whatsoever, no warning lamps etc. Suddenly the truck briefly downshifted into 1st gear, then upshifted back to 6th gear again. Issue occurred during heavy rain. I cleaned the bulkhead connector on the transmission afterwards and put dielectric grease on the connector o-ring. Connector Did not appear dirty or corroded. Issue had not occurred again for 8,000 miles.

During the course of driving on the interstate at 70mph the vehicle decelerated and went to a lower gear. The dash panel of the truck did not show all of the gears available. An emergency stop on the side of the road and turning the vehicle off and back on temporarily resolved the issue. It occurred intermittently and without warning. The truck continued to show problems and was taken to a transmissions shop which checked the transmission, replaced a line for a small leak and said everything seemed to be in order. The cause was not found to be a lack of transmission fluid as the levels were normal. The truck continued to intermittently decelerate. The last time that occurred, the back wheels locked up while on the road. The truck is now sitting due to the safety risk it poses and the locked up transmission on the rear end. It is available for inspection upon request. My safety and that of others was at risk. The problem was not replicated in a service center. The vehicle was inspected beforehand but not after the last issue, (it needs a tow as the back wheels are frozen). There was a warning light for the engine camshaft that came on and the problem was diagnosed at Ford as a camshaft issue though they could not understand the deceleration issue. The truck was taken first to Ford then to an independent transmission shop. Due to the issue the truck is not in use.

Drive mode lights on dash (P,R,N,D,M,2,1) start alternating while driving then vehicle will not stay engaged in any drive mode, vehicle appears to go into limp mode with no drive mode lit on dashboard. I cold started the engine from inside the house and when I opened the back passenger door there was smoke coming from behind the rear seat in the back area. I couldn’t get to where the smoke was coming from but from the smell it was wire related. I quickly went around to the driver side and turned on the truck and quickly turned it off. About 10-30 minutes later the ring camera showed the rear window of my truck shatter due to this incident in which I was informed that the rear auto defrost turns on due to a malfunction. I put a claim through my insurance and got the window fixed but I am still worried that this issue may happen again. I hope that by informing you of this situation going forward you can help others including myself be aware of this problem and how we can fix it. I was driving at 65 mph when my 2015 F150 shifted into 1st gear. I started skidding sideways and almost flipped but was able to run through the gears quickly and got it into Neutral. This has happened a few other times since the initial incident. I constantly receive codes related to lead frame assembly issue: P0720, P0721, P0722, P161B, etc. I am in desperate need of a new lead frame assembly so my vehicle does not crash on the highway. The shifting lights began to flash and then cleared. While driving 55 MPH, the vehicle downshifted unexpectedly. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle suddenly jerked and the engine revved. The gear selector lights were flashing. The instrument panel lights were flashing before starting to work as designed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train). The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

Twice now in the past 2 weeks I was accelerating from a stop when soon after my truck shifts from 4th to 5th, it’ll slam back down into 2nd gear. Both times my rpms spike, obviously, and my tires briefly screech. Then the truck just shift back up and seems completely normal. There was zero indication of any issues prior to either of these incidents. One of the times, I had my wife and two toddlers in the truck. It was lucky I didn’t lose control either of the times. From the forms that I’ve read, it sounds like I have a faulty transmission range sensor or may need a software update. I have not yet had a dealership officially diagnose my vehicle.

Throttle body failure approx every 45,000 miles. Bought F-150 new, now driven it approx 135,000 miles. Failure occurs when driving a various speeds, incl 75 mph. After engine shuts down, restarts, then randomly shuts down until a new throttle body is installed. My 2015 Ford F-150 truck has had multiple issues related to performance issues, with only 80,000 miles on it. I have had issues with it losing power while driving, both with and without towing a trailer where it just powers down on the highway from 70-75 mph down to 40-50 mph in traffic. I usually just have to pull over, turn the engine off and then turn it back on and everything runs normal. It is currently at Phil Long Ford in Colorado Springs, CO, having the short block and driver side cylinder head replaced at 80,000 miles because it was smoking out the exhaust and they determined that it had coolant leaking into the #4 and #5 cylinders. This is after it had a completely new engine installed at 75,000 miles due to coolant leaking into the 3# cylinder and causing severe damage to the engine. It was in the repair shop from August 2023 until late December 2023 because the engines were are backorder. The Passenger side cylinder heads are currently on a 13 month backorder according to the dealership, which is why they are only replacing the short block and Driver side cylinder head this time, after only 5,000 miles on the replacement engine. I have also received multiple recall notifications regarding this vehicle, the most recent of which was on 4/22/2024 for #24E03 POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE UPDATE, none of which have been repaired during the multiple times and extended durations that my vehicle was at the Ford dealership for repairs. Two recalls existed and should have been repaired when my vehicle was at the dealership between August and December of 2023, and the most recent recall shows "No Remedy Available" for a PCM Module Software Update?

My latest issue is with the 2.7 ecoboost engine. I had a total failure of this engine last year and am still awaiting a replacement that I am paying for. This is unacceptable as I had this vehicle serviced according to maintenance schedule. I also have had systems report failure such as the hillside assist and the electronic parking brake. Additionally, the automatic transmission has locked up in third gear quite a few times. There are other issues such as a leaky oil pan and such.

The contact was informed that the O-rings, turbo, and radiator needed to be replaced. Additionally, while started, the head unit did not illuminate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. I connected the 7-pin trailer wire of my 16' tandem axle enclosed trailer with electric brakes to my pickup. I checked the lights on the trailer. All functioned correctly. I got into my pickup to drive. The integrated trailer brake controller was smoking and getting hot. No error messages popped up on the dashboard. I pulled the fuse for the trailer brake module to prevent the integrated trailer brake module from melting or catching fire. Upon searching the internet, this appears to be a problem with my model year (2015 F-150). Ford dealership re-programs the trailer brake module. This needs to be addressed before the brake controller fails and could potentially catch fire. It also could cause an accident, because the electric trailer brakes will lock up or cease to engage.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that another vehicle had backed into the contact's vehicle which cracked the lens cover on the rear cross traffic system. Once the lens cover cracked, moisture began to enter the lens cover which caused both the window defroster and the power windows locks to not operate as needed. The contact stated that several warning messages including the "Cross Traffic Collision", and "Tail Collision" had appeared on the instrument panel. The contact called several dealers in his area and was informed that the part to repair the vehicle was on back order. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

REGARDING: 2015 FORD F150 WITH 20,000 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT. -Made 1st report with NHTSA.gov as well as Ford.com back in June 2023 about the vehicle throwing codes for anti-lock brake system and communication loss of ECM/PCM. As well as, the system NOT ALLOWING the brand new battery to ever be fully charged. -Upon 1st reporting these issues, the vehicle was placed into the "Friendly Ford" service center in crosby, tx to be worked on and issues fixed. $1,376, later, we were contacted by the service center to pick the vehicle up, saying issues were now FIXED. (their prognosis: auxillary transmission pump replacement 6/19/2023) After picking vehicle up, all seemed to be running correctly. Until, the vehicle decided to do the exact same thing again...no charging the battery, not starting engine, turning itself off, ect. just got the vehicle out of the same service shop,, this time them claiming that it was now the transmission control module that needed to be replaced. this service trip costed $1490 (july27, 2023). When the service worker went out to bring the truck around for us to leave, he had to attach a battery booster to the battery, just to be able to start the vehicle....DING< DING< DING!! Not fixed......right ?! CORRECT!! it is NOT!! SO, here we are again (07/29/2023) with the code reader at Autozone saying "anti-lock brake system/ ECM/PCM (U0151-00 and U0100-00). Battery tested to be in good working order, as well as the entire starting system, itself is in complete working order. and STILL our problem persists.

The truck shuts off at red lights. This is NOT the feature for gas saving. The engine completely dies. This is extremely dangerous. You are stuck in running traffic until it starts back up. The ford dealer said there are no service bulletins and they've never heard of it. But the F150 forum is full of examples, and Ford is not aware or fixing the issue. This happens several times a week.

F150 starts to lose power and shudder/vibrate about 60% of the time when driving. Picking up speed, truck lost half power and engine light starting flashing. When it caught gear and speed, the light stopped flashing but the truck continues to shudder and vibrate like crazy.

While driving with my family the truck gave several error messages and a check engine light. I pulled over immediately because the truck lost power and the stability control started shaking violently. I was able to safely maneuver out of traffic, but I cannot imagine what would have happened if I was on a busy highway instead of a small side street. Apparently this is an issue that has been fairly common with Ford from what I have seen online. The vehicle is at the mechanic now for repairs. He has determined that the Throttle body needs to be replaced.

I am not sure this is the place for this, but here goes.. my truck dropped my phone connection I tried to reload it, I deleted it and tried to re-install it. The truck told me it was looking for "BT". I called to Sync and they walked me thru a few things and said I need an upgrade, I have a 5.8 and I need a 5.11 program. My radio is a basic radio, no navigation nothing special. So I took it to the dealer and they tell me I need a APIM and the price is off the charts. I am not sure if this all is connected, but I also have problems with the radio controls on the steering wheel on an intermitten basis. I apologize if this is not the place for this complaint but I had to start some place, please advise where I might go from here. I don't feel an 8 yr old truck should be having issues like this already.

While driving there is a hard "clunk" sound then blind spot system, cross traffic system fault and see manual alert comes ON. Truck loses power and shifts out of D (Acts as if in neutral). Has happened about 7 or 8 times now. Very scary situation and can be tragic if this situation happens at high speed. I have done some research and I know there have been recalls for transmission lead frames on older model F-150's. Sounds and feels to be the exact same situation for my 2015 F-150.

My airbags deployed while my truck was parked overnight. No known cause, no collision. Also when I put the keys in the truck all my dash lights were on no power steering. The truck is currently sitting at the dealership.

My f150 kept setting alarm off every day or 2 running battery down, took to ford house, paid $109 to be told they have never seen this problem. Looks like another $900 because my truck computer says it’s always getting broke in to? WOW REALLY?? Never been broken into by the way!! Interior intrusion sensor is to sensitive ( by the ford houses managers mouth by the way). Does that make sense??

Good afternoon- Yesterday morning I was driving to work and had the defrost on. About 5 minutes later I starting smelling something burning. When I stopped at the gas station I noticed both sides of the rear window were all spiderwebbed/shattered, not the middle automatic one though. Can you please help? I’ve went to a dealership, called ford customer care and know one wants to help. This HAS TO BE A DEFECT, like a short in the rear defrost or something. Update-went to lindquist ford in Bettendorf, IA and service manager 100% confirmed without a doubt the window shattered due to a short in the rear defroster and said he sees this all the time. Unsure of time of report but possible electrical issue with rear defroster. White electrical smoke and glass shattered while driving. Smoke filled cabin and was coming from passenger rear seat. Once seat was lowered the smoke was coming from behind the fiberglass so unable to see damage. The two connectors that go to the sliding glass are hanging freely and were sparking when seat was lowered. Rear defroster was on when issue occurred and smoke stopped once turned off. Vehicle has not yet been inspected, awaiting insurance claim. There were no warning signs, messages or symptoms of failure. Incident happened on 09/23/2022 at 7:40 AM while driving on interstate.

While driving at posted speeds on open highway and in congested work zones, this F-150 experienced an Electronic Throttle Body failure 5 times between Rochester Hills, MI and Granger, IN on 9/13/2022. It happened again on 9/14/2022 in city two way traffic with no shoulder. In each incident, the vehicle went into limp mode with rough idle and had to be completely stopped, turned off and restarted in high traffic, hazardous stopping locations. This happened once before in the mountains in Utah, in a construction zone back on 5/02/2021. At that time, the check engine light did not stay on and Ford was unable to find a code. It did not happen again until 9/13/2022. These incidents put me and my family in danger with each episode. Ford is fully aware of this issue, has in the past and should notify owners of the potential issue and continue to make repairs available as a recall or extended warranty service issue.

Two weeks ago my 2015 Ford F150 died in a parking lot. I drove it in fine, walked into the store, and when I left the store the truck was dead. Battery was good, alternator was good, but would not start. I had it towed to my local Ford dealer. Three days later they informed me that the starter was bad and it was replaced. Two days later I'm driving at highway speed (approx 70 mph) and the truck violently downshifts from sixth to third gear causing the tires to lock up and the vehicle to skid approx 20 ft in NYC traffic. Luckily there was no one close behind me although there were numerous car horns beeped and swerving traffic as I rapidly decelerated. The truck remained in third gear until I moved into the safety lane and the RPMs (due to slowing) returned to normal. The instrument panel only displayed a message "Contact Dealer". I shut the truck off and the turned it back on with no faults indicated and limped it home. Since then the truck has repeatedly failed to start. It will start fine for a day or two, and then nothing when the key is turned. I had it towed to my local service station where the mechanic informed me that the computer code errors indicated that there were multiple errors with the transmission. The soonest that the Ford dealer can inspect is 35 days from now. I see that earlier model Ford F150's had a factory recall for similar transmission problems. My concern is that due to electrical malfunctions within the transmission control module, Ford F150's may rapidly decelerate when the transmission inadvertently downshifts multiple gears causing accidents and possible loss of life.

The engine fails to start consistently using pushbutton and remote start on the ignition fob. It is not available as needed. As an elderly man and partally disabled wife, the inconsistant nature inhibits reliable usage of the vehicle if an emergency occurs. The problem has been reproduced by Kirk Brothers FORD in Vicksburg, Mississippi but at this time (vehicle dropped of on 6/21/22) no success has occurred to determine the cause! Only the local service department has worked on the vehicle and only one technician has been assigned for over 10 working days. Problem first appeared as intermittent in May 2022, and progressively got to the point vehicle would not start normally.

I auto started the truck and about 10 minutes into warm up the rear window shattered as I was putting items in the bed of the truck. Glass preceded to fall off the window, and there is still a residual burn electrical smell. I believe this is a result of the rear defroster. I have filed an insurance claim to replace the rear window. There were zero warnings, lamps etc. It sounded like a gunshot.

Unknown: On 1/2/2021 at approximately 11:30pm, we were awakened by neighbors to warn us that our home was on fire. Neighbors witnesses an explosion from our truck, that blew up most of the Ford F-150 and cause major damage to my van next to it. The fire department has investigated the explosion and listed cause of fire to Be electrical issues from the Ford F-150. Thankfully no lives were lost, but would like to see that This be investigated to avoid loss of life as a preventative measure.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that he parked the vehicle in the garage and as he exited the vehicle, the vehicle inadvertently started reversing on its own. The contact stated he attempted to jump back in the vehicle to depress the brake pedal but he was unable to do so as the vehicle was moving fast. The contact stated he jumped out of the way. The vehicle reversed down the driveway and crashed into a transformer across the street. The contact stated he got into the vehicle and switched gears to neutral, however, the indicator light would still indicate that the vehicle was in park. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact sustained bruised ribs, lacerations on the arms and legs. The contact did not seek medical assistance. The dealer was notified of the failure but did not provide any assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was awaiting to hear back from the manufacturer. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000. The contact stated that the vehicle was diagnosed and needed a software update. The software was updated by the dealer but the contact stated that the issues have occurred again.

A WHILE LATER MY NEIGHBOR SAID MY BRAKES LIGHTS WERE ON AND MY TRUCK HAD BEEN PARKED FOR A QUITE SOME TIME. AFTER NOT BEING ABLE TO GET THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO GO OUT AND SOME INTERNET QUERIES I WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE AND CONFIRM THE SMALL PLASTIC DISK CAME OFF THE TOP OF THE BRAKE PEDAL WHERE IT WOULD MAKE CONTACT WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. AS SMALL OF A PART AS IT IS, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE AFFECTED AND THE HILL ASSIST FUNCTION WARNING WAS COMING ON AS WELL. AFTER CHECKING FORD DOES NOT SELL THE TINY PLASTIC DISK, WORTH ABOUT 5 DOLLARS, BUT WILL SELL THE ENTIRE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY FOR HUNDREDS. OTHER AUTO MANUFACTURERS SELL THE DISK CALLED A BRAKE PEDAL STOP PAD. THIS PROBLEM IS OCCURRING ON OTHER FORDS AS I WAS ABLE TO FIND EXAMPLES LIKE MINE ON THE INTERNET. THERE SHOULD BE A BETTER DESIGNED PART OR BRAKE PEDAL TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING.

GLIDED TO A RED LIGHT, PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL, CAME TO A STOP AND KEPT THE GAS LIGHTLY PRESSED HOPING TO KEEP POWER TO THE ENGINE. WHEN LIGHTED TURNED GREEN PUT TRUCK BACK INTO DRIVE AND ACCELERATION RETURNED. PARKED AT MY PLACE OF BUSINESS. SHUT THE TRUCK OFF BUT THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAYED ON. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF CONCERN TO DRIVE IT AFTER LOSING ACCELERATION (TOW TRUCK DRIVER CALL THE VEHICLE IN LIMP MODE). THE DEALERSHIP FOUND NOT FAULT CODES BUT DID FIND PLASTIC PIECES ON THE FLOOR BOARD. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A "BROKEN BRAKE PEDAL" - A SMALL PLASTIC DISC (GROMMET) INSIDE THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY BROKE INTO PIECES CAUSING LOSS F ACCELERATION, THE ELECTRONIC MESSAGING SYSTEM TO DISABLE HILL ASSIST AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO REMAIN ON. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAVE SEEN THIS IN FORD FUSIONS BUT NOT IN AN F150. THE NEW BRAKE ASSEMBLY IS A TOTAL REDESIGN FROM THE THE ONE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS BUILT WITH. THE IMAGE ON THE LEFT IS THE BROKEN BRAKE ASSEMBLE (THE FINGER IS POINTING TO THE DAMAGED ITEM), THE PART ON THE RIGHT WHERE YOU WILL SEE THE SMALL WHITE DISC (GROMMET) IS THE REPLACEMENT BRAKE ASSEMBLY. THE TRUCK TO TRANSITION TO 'LIMP' MODE (ACCELERATOR AND POWER STEERING DOESN'T WORK) WHICH A DANGEROUS AND SCARY. MOST 'LIMP' MODE INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED WHILE DESCENDING DOWNHILL, HAS OCCURRED SEVEN TIMES SO FAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER, AND THEY JUST CLEAR CODE AND SAY YOUR GOOD ($130 DIAGNOSTIC FEE). THEN THE ERROR OCCURS THE SAME DAY. WITH MORE ONLINE RESEARCH THERE A MASSIVE PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY WHICH CAUSES THIS TO HAPPEN. TOOK MY TRUCK INTO FORD TODAY AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY UNDER MY EXTENDE WARRANTY NOT THEIR EMISSIONS WARRANTY AS STATED IN THEIR OWNERS MANUAL OF 8 YEARS OR 80,000 MILES. CALLED FORD AND THEY DON'T KNOW ABOUT AN EMISSIONS WARRANTY IN THEIR OWNERS MANUAL. LOOKED ONLINE AND YOUTUBE TO DISCOVER THIS PROBLEM IS NOT JUST ME AND FREQUENT WITH OTHERS. THIS CAN REALLY CAUSE A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT. LUCKILY I'M A CDL DRIVER AND WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET OVER ON THE SHOULDER THIS TIME. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A CITY ROAD WHEN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED ON 11/13. THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WOULD GO DARK FOR A MINUTE AND THEN COME BACK ON FOR A FEW SECONDS, DURING WHICH I RECEIVED NUMEROUS WARNING MESSAGES. WHEN THE SYSTEM WAS OUT, THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY WAS DEAD AND POWER STEERING WAS OFFLINE. I STARTED TO RECEIVE WARNING MESSAGES ABOUT THE CHARGING SYSTEM ON 11/6. I BROUGHT IT TO THREE DIFFERENT PLACES BEFORE IT FAILED. ON 11/6 ADVANCE AUTO PARTS TOLD ME IT WAS FINE. THE LIGHT WENT AWAY AND LATER RETURNED.ON 11/8 AUTOZONE SAID THE BATTERY NEEDED A CHARGE. 11/9 MONRO SAID THE ALTERNATOR MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER MONRO, I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH FORD. FIRST AVAILABLE WAS 11/14. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AFTER NOT DRIVING THE TRUCK 11/10-11/12. AFTER THE INCIDENT, I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO FORD FOR SERVICE. THE DEALERSHIP FINALLY AND RELUCTANTLY TOLD ME THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. APPARENTLY, ONE OR MORE OF THE WIRES CONNECTED TO THE ALTERNATOR HAD BEEN SEVERED BY RUBBING AGAINST THE HOUSING MEANT TO PROTECT THEM. THE TRUCK WAS ONLY 3.5 YEARS OLD AND HAD FEWER THAN 15,000 MILES ON IT. FORD REFUSED TO COVER IT AS IT WAS 6 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE SEEMS TO BE EITHER A DESIGN FLAW OR A QUALITY CONTROL ISSUE. IF EITHER OF THOSE ARE THE CASE, A RECALL MAY BE NECESSARY.

I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE HILL START ASSIST/TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON. A FEW HUNDRED MILES LATER, MORE DASH LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND THEN ALL DASH LIGHTS WENT OFF AND THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER. I COULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. AFTER A MOMENT, IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN. AFTER A FEW MORE MILES, IT DID IT AGAIN, AND THIS TIME WHEN IT POWERED DOWN, THE ABS BREAK SYSTEM WENT ON AND CREATED A TERRIBLE GRINDING NOISE AND BROUGHT ME TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I LIMPED IT ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, TRYING TO FIND AN EXIT, AND THE TRUCK REPEATEDLY DID THE LIGHTS FLASHING/POWER DOWN/BREAKS APPLIED SEVERAL MORE TIMES AT LOW SPEED. THE NEAREST EXIT WAS ABOUT 10 MILES, SO I HAD TO CONTINUE TO DO THIS FOR SOME TIME. ONCE I WAS AT AN EXIT, I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES. WHEN I RE-CONNECTED THE BATTERY AND STARTED THE TRUCK, EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE, BUT NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I DECIDED TO JUST RISK IT AND KEEP DRIVING, SO THAT I COULD GET HOME. ABOUT 100 MILES LATER IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. I WAS CLOSE ENOUGH TO HOME TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY AND TAKE BACK ROADS HOME. IT DID IT A FEW MORE TIMES AND THEN QUIT DOING IT. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, AS MY TRUCK BASICALLY STOPPED WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 70 MPH, AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT, AND LEFT ME NO OPTION BUT TO EITHER BE BROKEN DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY OR DRIVE AT VERY LOW SPEEDS ON THE SHOULDER. THE FORD DEALER THAT I TOOK THE TRUCK TO TOLD ME THAT THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND ALL DIAGNOSTICS COME BACK CLEAN, SO THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIX ANYTHING. OTHERS ONLINE THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME/SIMILAR ISSUE HAVE SAID THAT FORD SAID THAT IT IS A DAMAGED THROTTLE BODY THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, BUT THE DEALERSHIP THAT I WENT TO DID NOT SUGGEST THAT AS THE CAUSE.

THE TRUCKS WARNING SYSTEM HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT IS HARD TO EXPLAIN. THE SYSTEM WILL DISPLAY MULTIPLE WARNING AND ERROR MESSAGES WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENS INFREQUENTLY, WHICH IS WHY THE DEALER CAN NOT FIX IT. THE DRIVER'S DISPLAY SCREEN WILL CYCLE THROUGH MANY WARNINGS, I.E. "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK", "PARKING BRAKE WARNING", "4 BY 4 WARNING ETC. PROBABLY AT LEAST A DOZEN MESSAGES. ITS NOT JUST ANNOYING. SOMETIMES THE TURN SIGNAL WILL NOT WORK. THE SPEEDOMETER DROPS TO 0 - WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. CRUISE CONTROL USUALLY WONT WORK. SO, TO REITERATE, WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS, THE SYSTEM BEEPS FOR EACH MESSAGE, THE DISPLAY GOES BLACK, TURN SIGNALS DON'T WORK, THE RADIO DOESN'T WORK. THIS TYPICALLY LASTS FOR 5 TO 20 MINUTES BEFORE CLEARING UP. THE DEALER HAS SEEN THE HUNDREDS OF WARNING AND ERROR MESSAGES THAT ACCUMULATE, BUT THEY CAN'T FIX IT UNLESS THE ROOT PROBLEM IS STILL PRESENT. I HAVE RECORDED VIDEO THAT DEMONSTRATES THIS PROBLEM.

THE RESOLUTION IS TO TURN THE CAR OFF AN LET IT SIT FOR A SECOND THEN START IT AND DRIVE SLOWLY. THIS IS WIDELY DOCUMENTED ACROSS THE INTERNET WITH NO IDENTIFIED CAUSE AND CONSTITUTES A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2015 F150 ON A LOCAL STREET AND WANTED TO TURN OFF THE RADIO SO SHE COULD SPEAK WITH ME. SHE ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE START/STOP BUTTON AND THE ENGINE SHUT COMPLETELY OFF. WE WERE DOING 35 MPH AT THE TIME AND THE TRUCK WAS IN "DRIVE." WE MANAGED TO WRESTLE THE TRUCK TO A STOP, PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART WITH NO PROBLEM. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET. I TESTED IT LATER IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT IN A "PUSH BUTTON START/STOP" YOU SHOULD EVER BE ABLE TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF WHILE IN MOTION AND IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. I CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP MAINTENANCE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT WAS "NORMAL."

SEVERAL NON STARTING ISSUES. ON ONE OCCASION, INSTRUMENT PANEL DID NOT COME ON AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH NO INDICATION OF SPEED, ENGINE/TRANSMISSION INFORMATION, AND OTHER VITAL DATA. AFTER SEVERAL RESTARTS, INSTRUMENT PANEL CAME ON AFTER A 45 SECOND DELAY. A WRENCH WARNING ICON WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY SERVICING DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE, SO NO REPAIR WAS MADE. THE TRUCK WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS OCCURRED. WE WERE PARKED ON A CITY STREET. THIS TRUCK HAS HAD SEVERAL ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. I HAVE SEVERAL SERVICE RECORDS WHICH I WILL SUPPLY IF NEEDED TO HELP YOUR INVESTIGATION.

I HAVE A 2015 F150 KING RANCH WITH THE 3.5L ECOBOOST. IT HAS 41,000 MILES AND NEVER HAD AN ISSUE UNTIL YESTERDAY MORNING AND TODAY AROUND LUNCH. THIS WAS FROM YESTERDAY 10/23/17: HILL DESCENT CONTROL FAULT SERVICE ADVANCETRAC HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE I WAS PULLING OUT ONTO A HIGHWAY AND THE TRUCK BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY, MOVING VERY SLOW WITH NO ACCELERATION, POWER STEERING WAS LOST, AND THE DASHBOARD WAS SHOWING ALL THE ABOVE ERRORS. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO VEHICLES COMING WHEN I ENTERED THE HIGHWAY AND THERE WAS A PLACE TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY. THE TRUCK CONTINUES TO IDLE ROUGH AND SHAKE VIOLENTLY. AND TODAY 10/24/17: I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH WHEN THE TRUCK DID THE SAME THING AS YESTERDAY MORNING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND SHUT OFF THE MOTOR. ONCE I RESTARTED THE ENGINE, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY SAY THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHY IT WOULD BE DOING THIS AND HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM FORD OR SEEN THIS IN OTHER F150'S THEY HAVE SERVICED. UPDATE: THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THE FIX IS IN A FAULTY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY AND THEY REPLACED IT AT A WHOPPING PRICE OF $770. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH SHOWS FORD HAS ISSUES WITH ETB'S ACROSS VEHICLES OF ALL CLASSES AND KNOWS ABOUT IT. IN FACT, SOME CONSUMERS SEEM TO BE INVOLVED IN LAWSUITS AGAINST FORD BECAUSE OF THEIR UNWILLINGNESS TO ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS FATALLY INJURED. THESE WERE SCARY, SCARY SITUATIONS WITH MY VEHICLE AND THANK GOD MY WIFE AND KIDS WERE NOT WITH ME. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE AND FORD NEEDS TO CORRECT IT AT THEIR EXPENSE.

AFTER THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE ISSUE AND THE REPAIR COST I DECIDED TO RESEARCH IT AND IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON OCCURRENCE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS ISSUE MADE INTO A RECALL FOR SAFETY PURPOSES AND FOR FREQUENCY OF OCCURRENCE TO OTHER FORD OWNERS.

APRIL 26, 2017 THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS MALFUNCTIONED SIMULTANEOUSLY WHEN RETURNING TO TRUCK FROM SHOPPING: RUNNING BOARDS WOULD NOT DEPLOY OR RETRACT; AIRBAG(S) WARNING LIGHT ON DASH WAS LIT; CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM, BOTH HEAT AND COOLING WAS OUT OF SERVICE; FRONT WINDOWS WOULD NOT RESPOND TO CONTROLS; SEAT COMFORT FUNCTIONS DID NOT WORK; MIRROR ADJUSTMENT AND RETRACTION INOPERABLE; BACK-UP SYSTEM AND WARNINGS INOPERABLE; CROSS TRAFFIC SYSTEM FAULT; BLIND SPOT WARNING ERROR. WIRING HARNESSES REPLACES AND PICKED TRUCK UP MAY 12TH 2017. THAT EVENING WHILE DRIVING WITH A TRAILER, A MESSAGE APPEARED CONCERNING THE TRAILER BEING DISCONNECTED. THAT DISAPPEARED AND THEN THE FOLLOWING HAPPENED: WARNING MESSAGES BEGAN TO APPEAR ON THE DRIVER'S DISPLAY SCREEN SAYING, 'YOUR VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK', 'CHECK MANUAL', 'DOWNHILL ASSIST NOT OPERATIONAL'. THEN THE LIGHTS WENT OUT, THE TRUCK LOST POWER (THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING), IT SHIFTED INTO DOWNHILL ASSIST, FRONT WINDOWS DIDN'T WORK, PASSENGER SEAT MOVED BY ITSELF, DRIVER'S SEAT BEGAN TO GO BACK AS IF THE TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF, THEN IT RETURNED TO DRIVING POSITION, THE SYNC DISPLAY WENT DEAD AND CAME BACK ON, THE DRIVER'S DISPLAY SHUT DOWN AND CAME BACK ON. ALL THESE THINGS CONTINUED TO REPEAT AS BELLS SOUNDED AND I LIMPED 5 MILES BACK TO MY SON'S HOUSE. SAME PROBLEMS EXHIBITED WHEN SON TOOK TRUCK TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING AM WITHOUT TRAILER. ANOTHER HARNESS REPLACED. PICKED UP TRUCK AND DROVE WITHOUT INCIDENT ABOUT 800 MILES. WHEN STARTING TRUCK, TRAILER MESSAGE REOCCURRED. THERE WAS NO TRAILER ATTACHED. TWO DAYS LATER AFTER BEING PARKED, ALL THE 1ST SET OF FAILURES REOCCURRED. RUNNING BOARDS, AC-HEAT, AIR BAGS, WINDOWS, MIRRORS, CROSS TRAFFIC SYSTEM, BLIND SPOT WARNING WERE ALL INOPERABLE.

ON 2/23/2017 WHILE DRIVING 50-55 MPH ON AN EXPRESSWAY, THE VEHICLE THROTTLE BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. THE TACHOMETER STILL SHOWED ABOUT 1,000 RPMS, DASH LIGHTS BEGAN ILLUMINATING, ADVANCETRAC WAS DISABLED, HILL START ASSIST WAS DISABLED, THE WRENCH LIGHT ENABLED AND A CHECK MANUAL LIGHT ENABLED. THERE ALSO WAS A HARD SHIFT OR CLUNK SOUND THAT CAME FROM THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER SHIFTING THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL WHILE COASTING, I ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE ENGINE. ENGINE SUCCESSFULLY RESTARTED, BUT THE THROTTLE REMAINED UNRESPONSIVE AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS MENTIONED ABOVE RETURNED. I PULLED THE TRUCK SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART AGAIN. THIS TIME THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND THEN I TURNED IT OFF. NEXT I REMOVED THE KEY, OPENED THE DOOR, CLOSED THE DOOR, LOCKED THE TRUCK, WAITED FOR THE ACCESSORY LIGHTS TO TURN OFF, UNLOCKED THE TRUCK, OPENED AND CLOSED THE DOOR AND THEN RESTARTED, AND THE TRUCK SEEMED TO CLEAR THE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY LATER TOLD ME THE TRUCK IS NOT STORING ANY ERROR CODES IN IT'S MEMORY.

IF I HAD NOT BEEN ABLE TO RELEASE THE DOOR THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY ISSUES TO MY YOUNG CHILDREN. THIS ISSUE HAS SINCE PROGRESSED TO ALL DOORS BECOMING DYSFUNCTIONAL. MY VEHICLE IS NOW AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP. MY VEHICLE WAS BOTH STATIONARY AND IN MOTION AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT ON CITY STREETS AND FREEWAY. IF I HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND QUICKLY NEEDED TO EXTRACT MY CHILDREN FROM THE VEHICLE THE ISSUE OF THE DOORS NOT FUNCTIONING AND FREEZING COULD HAVE PUT MY AND MY CHILDREN'S WELL FARE AT EXTREME RISK.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD TELLING ME TO BRING THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL REPROGRAMMED. I DID HAVE THIS WORK DONE. AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE I HAD AN INCIDENT WHERE I WAS PASSING AN 18 WHEELER AND THE TRUCK SET OFF THE COLLISION WARNING ALARM AND APPLIED THE BRAKES HARD. IF SOMEONE WAS FOLLOWING CLOSELY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A COLLISION. THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC IN MY LANE FOR AT LEAST 1/4 MILE AHEAD. FORD HAS NOT BEEN HELPFUL IN RESOLVING THIS ISSUE AND THEIR ONLY SUGGESTION IS TO TURN OFF THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL. I PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR WHAT I FEEL IS AN IMPORTANT AND USEFUL SAFETY FEATURE AND WANT FORD TO FIX THE SYSTEM SO IT WILL NOT MALFUNCTION AND POSSIBLY CAUSE A REAR END COLLISION.

TODAY, 1/17/16 ON MY WAY HOME I TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROSTER BUT THE LIGHT DIDN'T COME ON SO I ASSUMED A FUSE HAD BLOWN OR SOMETHING. THEN WHILE CONTINUING ON MY DRIVE HOME, ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES, LATER I HEARD A LOUD SOUND LIKE A GUN SHOT AND WHEN I TURNED TO SEE WHAT IT WAS LOW AND BEHOLD THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. APPARENTLY THIS HAS HAPPENED TO HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF FORD TRUCKS FROM 2009-2014 AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. US AS CONSUMERS SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BARE THE BURDEN OF THE EXPENSE FOR REPAIR OF A KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART, OR AS SOME OF THE DEALERS HAVE SUGGESTED, FILE THE CLAIM WITH YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY. HERE AGAIN, IT IS EXACTLY THESE TYPES OF CLAIMS THAT WILL KEEP INCREASING INSURANCE PREMIUMS FOR US CONSUMERS BECAUSE LARGE CORPORATIONS LIKE FORD WILL NOT STEP UP AND DO WHAT THEY KNOW IS THE RIGHT THING AND ISSUE A RECALL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE PUSH START BUTTON WAS TOUCHED AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE STILL IN DRIVE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TESTED THE FAILURE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL NEEDED TO REPROGRAMMED AND FURTHER INSPECTION WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.

2015 FORD F-150. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIRBAG PROBLEMS, IGNITION PROBLEMS AND VEHICLE TIRES ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE A/C BLEW OUT HOT AIR, THE TRANSMISSION WAS JERKY WHEN HE APPLIED THE BRAKE, THEN THE ACCELERATOR. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST STARTED, THERE WAS A LOUD GRINDING/GROWLING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE BY THE DRIVER FRONT WHEEL, THERE WAS EXCESSIVE CABIN NOISE, AND TIRE NOISE. THE ELECTRIC ENGINE FAN CAME ON WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING OUTSIDE IN THE HEAT, THE UNDERCARRIAGE WAS SHOWING SIGNS OF CORROSION. WATER WAS LEAKING THROUGH THE DRIVER ASSIST HANDLE GRIP NEAR THE WINDSHIELD. *JB

TOTAL LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING. AT 3022 MILES THE ENGINE CUT OFF WHILE AT 40-50MPH. A SMART DATA LINK WAS REPLACED. AT 3619 MILES THE ENGINE CUT OFF AGAIN WHILE ACCELERATING AT 40-50 MPH. BOTH INCIDENTS HAPPENED WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF STARTING THE ENGINE. SEVERAL ALERTS POP UP ON THE SCREEN TO INCLUDE LOSS OF BRAKING, HILL ASSIST, AND SERVICE ENGINE. FIRST REPAIR WAS FOR 10 DAYS. CURRENT REPAIR IS 3 DAYS AND COUNTING. CURRENTLY I AM AWARE OF ANOTHER F150 WITH THE ECOBOOST 2.7 ENGINE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO FIX.

AFTER MORNING STARTUP, VEHICLE STUMBLED, HESITATED ON ACCELERATION INTO TRAFFIC. VEHICLE STALLED AFTER APPROXIMATELY DRIVING 1 MILE. WOULD RE-START, ONLY IDLE, THEN STALL WHEN PUT INTO DRIVE AND ATTEMPTED TO RE-ENTER TRAFFIC. I HAD TOWED TO CLOSEST FORD DEALERSHIP FOR WARRANTY REPAIRS. MY VEHICLE WAS RETURNED OVER TWO WEEKS LATER. THE SERVICE INVOICE OUTLINED THAT THE LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP WAS FOUND BAD, SHORTED AND CONNECTING PLUG TO HARNESS MELTED. THEY REPLACED FUEL PUMP AND REPAIRED HARNESS PLUG. VEHICLE WAS NOT FIXED. OVER THE TWO WEEK PERIOD THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE FUEL PUMP DRIVER, BODY CONTROL MODULE, AND LAST THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. MY MAJOR CONCERN IS THE MELTED FUEL PUMP PLUG. I WOULD THINK THERE WOULD BE ADEQUATE FUSIBLE LINK PROTECTION TO KEEP THIS KIND OF PROBLEM FROM HAPPENING ESPECIALLY WHEN AFFECTING AN IN TANK FUEL PUMP. THIS MIGHT LEAD TO FUEL FIRES AND ALSO ACCIDENTS DUE TO LOSS OF POWER FROM THE ENGINE. I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO SAFELY GET MY VEHICLE ON THE ROAD SHOULDER, AND THEN ONTO A SIDE STREET WITH MINIMAL TRAFFIC. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THAT ONE DEVICE FAILURE CREATING FAILURES IN MULTIPLE VEHICLE CONTROL SYSTEMS THAT WOULD COST THE CONSUMER THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OUT OF WARRANTY TO REPAIR. I WAS TOLD THAT A FORD FIELD ENGINEER WAS SENT TO ASSIST THE DEALERSHIP, AFTER HIS VISIT, THE ECM WAS REPLACED WHICH MADE THE VEHICLE FUNCTIONAL AGAIN. ADEQUATE OVERCURRENT PROTECTION ON THE FUEL PUMP SHOULD HAVE PREVENTED DAMAGING THE OTHER CRITICAL PARTS. FORD HAS PUT A LOT OF THESE VEHICLES ON THE ROAD WITH THE FUEL EFFICIENCY NEW ENGINEERING AS A MAJOR MARKETING TOOL. I FEAR THE VEHICLE MAY HAVE BEEN RUSHED TO PRODUCTION WITH INHERENT FLAWS THAT COULD BE A DANGER TO OWNERS AND THE PUBLIC.

MY 2015 LARIAT HAS HEATED/COOLED LEATHER FRONT SEATS. WHEN USING THE SEAT COOLING FUNCTION I NOTICED THE SEAT BOTTOM WOULD COOL BUT THE SEAT BACK SEEMED TO GET WARM. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS MY IMAGINATION. ATTEMPTED TO USE IT ON FRIDAY AND ABOUT 30 MINUTES LATER MY BACK WAS HOT. I PULLED OVER, FELT THE SEAT BACK WITH MY PALM, THEN MY CHEEK AND IT WAS HOT TO THE TOUCH.

WHEN THE AC CONTROL FOR THE FRONT SEATS IS IN USE THE BACK OF THE SEATS CAN REACH TEMPERATURES OF 110 DEGREES WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IN THE CAB IS 73 DEGREES. THIS TEMPERATURE COULD BURN MY CHILDREN WHO RIDE IN THE BACK SEATS OR EVEN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SEAT OR RISK OF FIRE.
