When accelerating and decelerating the vehicle jerks and responds erratically. We had just had it at the dealership for its 80k mile maintenance. They did a transmission flush. We thought it was related but when we brought it back in, we were told that the mold leadframe would require replacing.
While driving at normal speeds, the transmission hesitates and pops when shifting into 4th gear. The vehicle slows down unexpectedly before shifting and will suddenly downshift without warning. This causes abrupt deceleration and creates a safety concern, especially at highway speeds. The issue occurs intermittently and without driver input. Even when I’m in normal gears it will downshift and cause me to slow and lose control even when I am not breaking. It occurs at just 35 mph- highway speeds.
On [XXX], I was driving the vehicle and accelerating onto the [XXX] freeway from an on-ramp in northern Phoenix, Arizona. During acceleration, the truck suddenly and violently downshifted, producing an abrupt jerking motion that forcibly displaced the vehicle out of the accelerating gear and into a lower gear without warning or driver input. The incident required us to exit the freeway and pull over. The event caused a momentary but pronounced loss of smooth propulsion at a critical merge point on to the freeway, creating an obvious risk of loss of control and collision with other motorists. The sudden lock-up and downshift, spike in RPMs, and deceleration were entirely inconsistent with normal operation and were objectively dangerous under highway-speed conditions. My passenger and I were jerked forward into our seatbelts. After this incident, I had the vehicle's transmission checked at a small shop, which stated they did not find any codes or issues, but recommended a full transmission rebuild at a cost of several thousand dollars. Finding no diagnostic codes or issues, I continued using my truck until it unexpectedly failed the following month on a freeway. In December 2025, while I was exiting a freeway in Mesa, Arizona, the F-150’s 6R80 transmission downshifted again without being prompted, causing similar critical safety concerns. But this time the transmission was stuck in gear and was unsafe to operate on the highway or city streets. It had to be towed. A repair shop determined that the output speed sensor was found faulty at all times with diagnostic trouble codes of P720, P0722, and P2535, requiring complete replacement of the Leadframe Assembly. To the best of my knowledge and belief, this is consistent with other recalls that Ford has issued related to the failure of its 6R80 transmissions in F-150s and similar vehicles for years 2011-2014, which are known to Ford to have a risk of crashing due to the sudden downshifting concerns. While in 6th gear driving on the highway at 70 mph the truck downshifted to 3rd and drastically decelerated. When this happened the instrument display went from having all 6 gear numbers viable to only 1 - 3. It had to be put into Manual Mode and shifted into 6th manually. This happens twice in the same trip.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon shifting to reverse and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond and jerked while responding. The contact stated that upon shifting to drive(D), the failure recurred, and the vehicle rolled backwards unintendedly. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to move forward while in drive(D) after several attempts; however, the vehicle jerked while responding. The contact stated that the transmission gauge needle moved to HOT. The message "See Owner’s Manual" was displayed. The contact stated that the failure had progressively worsened, and the vehicle had failed to shift into gear and had become undrivable. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but was not diagnosed because the dealer was booked. The vehicle was towed back to the residence. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

After a Ford recall on software update for Transmission, the transmission is now starting to fail and downshift for no apparent reason, causing the rears wheels to lock up.
Sudden limp mode — stuck in 1st/3rd/5th gear at highway speed. Dealer confirmed codes: P0720, P0722 Major Safety risk: Loss of power/speed control as vehicle slams out of gear at speed without warning. Known issue with TSB 13-6-8 but issue continues in vehicles like mine post 2013.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle shifted hard into gear. The contact also stated that the gear shift indicator displayed the incorrect gear. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 180,000. The VIN was not available.

I have had 2 instances of my F150 downshifting at highway speeds to 2nd gear while driving. I was not towing a trailer, just driving normally in both cases on my daily commute to work. The first instance was resolved by coming to a stop, shifting to park, and shifting into drive again. The second instance, I released the accelerator completely, shifted the gear selector to neutral and back to drive while coasting and it seemed to correct. Neither have led to loss of control but it is startling and not a great thing for the longevity and safety of my vehicle. I see how it could become a problem. After instance number 1, I thought perhaps it was a fluke. I now have learned that there have been prior model years of this truck transmission that also have had issues and I am more concerned that this get resolved. I now plan to have vehicle looked at by a dealership in the near future. first incident was early September and second incident was Oct. 20, 2025.
SEVERAL TIMES WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY MY 2015 F150 TRUCK AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTS GEARS DOWN CAUSING THE TRUCK TO SEEM IF IT CANT GET GAS. iT GOES INTO THE LOWEST GEAR. THEN ALL OF SUDDEN IT WILL STOP AND GO NORMAL. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH DRIVING BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. THIS CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT . DIDNT GET FIXED BECAUSE DEALERSHIP RED MCCOMBS ON I-10 IN SA TEXAS STATED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted and the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The vehicle returned to normal operation. The failure had occurred on several occasions. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the output shaft sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

10-11-25 Transmission changed on its own from 6 gear going 63mph to first or second gear to 13mph (what I seen after realizing what happened) I already had it into Ford for sensor warnings before this and they couldn't find the problem. Now work is done and first gear is rough, and it still acts up towing a trailer. I take it back in on the 20th because I was not offered a rent a car or loaner and they think it's a clutch problem now. Ford will not help with repairs or take blame that this could have been a very bad situation if a semi was behind me. This is a known issue for 2015-2017 models.
I was driving my 2015 Ford F150 and just pulled into the parking lot. The lights on the dash started going off (airbags, parking detectors, big wrench, etc), however the vehicle driving wasn't affected at that time. I immediately stopped and parked, When I returned to my vehicle it had full power, but wouldn't even attempt to start. I had no choice but to tow it to a nearby Ford dealership in Grapevine, TX. It was ultimately diagnosed with a bad "Transmission Lead Harness." The dealership told me that this was a recall item on many F150s, but for some reason, not on mine. I researched this specific issue and found that 2011-2016 models of F150 were affected. It shows an investigation was opened for 2015 models as well. My question is why my specific vehicle is not under a recall. This could be a potentially dangerous issue, i'd think. So, right now I'm looking at a nearly $2000 bill to repair my vehicle when they get the parts in on Friday, 10/10/2025. I believe that if this is a recall on other with the same transmission lead harness, why is mine separated from that. I was given no warning other than the lights going off just before shutting of my truck, then it wouldn't start again. Thankfully I was in a populated area and not in the middle of nowhere. Please advise on any possible what I can get reimbursed for this issue.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and accelerating, the transmission was shifting hard shift, causing the vehicle to jump before accelerating. The failure also occurred while reversing. The vehicle failed to immediately start, and several attempts were needed to start the vehicle. The contact occasionally cleared DTC: P1702 (Transmission Range Sensor Fault). During the failure, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The failure was intermittent. The “WRENCH” warning light was intermittently illuminated. The failure became more persistent over time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed because there were no codes displayed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

Transmission on my F150 suddenly dropped to a lower gear as I was pulling out on a highway which significantly lowered my acceleration. Luckily the oncoming traffic slowed until I could safely get across to my lane. Eventually it jumped back into the proper gear. From what I have found on the internet this seems to be a common defect. Only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed. This is not the first time the transmission has done this. I took my F150 to the dealership to be checked and they didn’t find anything wrong. P0706 and P0707 codes.
warning light wrench came on truck suddenly downshifted into low gear
Erratic shifting. Code p0717. Down shift from 5th to 1st.
I was driving my 2015 F150 with the 5.0 liter engine and 6 speed transmission at approximately 60 mph in 6th gear when without warning the transmission downshifted into 1st gear causing a sudden deceleration causing my passengers and myself to be thrown forward being caught by our seatbelts. The transmission then worked its way back up the gears into 2nd and then 3rd and so on. I took the truck to a dealership (Cooper Ford of Edmond, Oklahoma) and started to tell the service manager what happened and before I even got to the downshift part he told me right away what had happened and that I will need a new main control and lead frame. It cost me $2,766.16 to have the vehicle repaired.
Truck started to get shifting gremlins. 4 instances of spontaneous shift out of gear or into lower gear below 35mph. Transmission then shifted to 3rd gear at 60 mph on interstate without warning. Gear and shift indicator on dash blinking wildly. Vehicle behind me had to make evasive maneuver to avoid collision as I moved to emergency lane. Online research said it was a bad lead frame in transmission. Took to local repair shop and confirmed bad lead frame. Replaced for $1200 and truck now shifts correctly.
While traveling down the highway and merging onto the interstate, if you excelerate just the slightest bit, the truck will start to violently shake and not gain speed, almost stalls a bit, causing a dangerous situation if you're trying to merge into moving traffic.Through reading and my own research on various forums. This is called transmission stutter and is a common problem with Ford's 6 speed automatic transmissions, that is not specific to vehicle or trim level or year model.
Having issues with lead frame. Truck is a 2015 F150 3.5 Ecoboost with the 6R80 transmission. Every so often the orange wrench appears and dash looses what gear and where it is in the column. Have taken pictures as well as pulled the codes that appear P0707, P0706, P1702. It will randomly happen from time to time. Currently buying all the parts to replace the issue part and seeing if there’s a recall for said part
When driving the transmission tends to constantly down shift and feels like a vibration/and grinding when doing so. Also the rear wheels sometimes lock up briefly when when accelerating. (the symptoms are very similar to the 2014 f150 transmission issues). This has been going on for appx 1 yr and tends to happen more frequently.
My vehicle has the 6r80 transmission and has random down shift and up shift associated with a lead frame going bad in the transmission
Transmission randomly down shifts and then shifts back up a gear. Then speed control randomly drops and won’t respond
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 MPH, the transmission erroneously downshifted from 6th gear to 1st gear, causing the vehicle to abruptly decelerate. The transfer case is leaking, caused by galvanic corrosion. Ford used steel bolts on the aluminum transfer case housing which created the corrosion.
Transmission down shifts while accelerating, slips when starting from a dead stop, and shifts extremely hard when shifting. It is a safety risk especially when pulling out at an intersection, as it stops (or will slip) in the middle of the intersection. It has not been confirmed by the manufacturer or dealer, only by the article from USA Today. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone, as it just started yesterday. There were no early indications or warning signs prior to it starting yesterday (08/06/2025).
While driving at 60 mph my vehicle went from the 6th gear down to 1st gear on its own bringing the truck speed down very quickly the vehicle behind me almost hit me in the rear I pulled over speedometer stopped working and a imagine of a wrench was on the dashboard I cleared the wrench 🔧 image on the dashboard and tried to restart the truck turned the key and nothing happened tried again and truck started pulled out and started driving home 4 miles away and it happened again when I got home I googled it and found it is a known problem with the transmission in the 2015 ford f150 where the sensors in the transmission fail to read your speed and then reacts as if the vehicle is stopped so it then puts the transmission into 1st gear where it would be when you are stopped which creates a very dangerous situation especially if you are on a crowded road at higher speeds
My transmission down shifts while driving and locks up my rear wheels. It almost caused me to wreck on the highway today.
Erratic shifting of the transmission while driving. Dropped into lower gear causing me to skid on a wet surface. Luckily was only driving at 45 mph or it could have been worse or caused an accident.
Galvanic corrosion of transfer case.
I have 80,000 and my transmission went out driving up a mountain road No waring light no over heating it just stop going . My shop believes it was from the factory the trans pump went out.I see your looking into this year for trans problem.

Seems to be the same Lead Frame issues as previous years. Rough downshifts, flickering gear indicator on the screen, shuts off when in park (not safety related) for short term, fails to initially crank after previous unintended shut off.
i was driving my truck down the highway and all of a sudden my rears wheels locked up making me lose control of my truck take goodness i did'nt rollover no my transmission is shifting threw gears from 1st to 6th to 3rd this is my second f150 that i have had my old one had the same problem but my old one didnt lock up my tires my phone number is [XXX] [XXX] but please text because at work you cant use my phone my truck is parked in the garage im afraid to drive it need assistance in fixing it INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Began experiencing hard shifting unexpectedly. Took it into dealership and they advised my lead frame assembly needed replacement. In research, I found this is currently under investigation by the NHTSA's office for my year and transmission model.
First time this incident happened (around April 2025) while driving on the highway. Going about 70 mph and the truck dropped down into second or first gear almost causing an accident. Had to pull over on the side of the road. Check engine light was on the dash. Turned off the truck And let it sit a little bit and restarted it and it seemed to be OK. This most recent incident happened on Saturday, July 5th 2025 , truck kept dropping down into first gear and then just would not go anywhere. Had it towed to Auto clinic and they diagnosed the truck with not recognizing the gear selection position. They stated that this truck should have fell under the recall status for 2015-2017 f150’s as it is doing the exact same thing that they have seen many trucks get fixed for because of the recall. The Auto clinic recommended I file a safety report and also contact Ford.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission was slipping while downshifting from 5th to 4th gear while attempting to slow down, causing the rear tires to lock up momentarily. Additionally, the front differential made an abnormal sound. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where the vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the forward clutch and the transmission were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 128,350.

Transmission constantly shifts erratically. When this happens, the transmission gets stuck between 3rd and 5th gears and sometimes only stays in 5th gear, no matter how fast the truck is going or even if it is not moving. About half the time when this happens it causes a rough "jerk" and could cause loss of control. If you must stop at a stop sign or stop light when this happens then you're impeding traffic just trying to get back up to speed after your stop, which could lead to an accident. This also causes the check engine light to come on.
Today, [XXX] while driving at highway speed this vehicle experienced a unrequested transmission downshift, from 6th to 3rd, causing unexpected rapid vehicle deceleration. I was located in the center lane of an Interstate and travelling at 70 mph when this incident happen which force the traffic behind me to take rapid accident avoidance actions. I did not hear any audible or see any visual warnings that this incident was about to happen. This vehicle will be taken to Starling Ford located at 3000 Cheney Hwy, Titusville, Fl 32780 on June 16, 2025. Transmission is downshifting at high speeds unexpectedly and without apparent cause. Ford has issued a recall already for the same year and model for the same issue, but my VIN is not associated with the recall.
At highway speeds, under moderate acceleration, the vehicle downshifts unexpectedly. It causes sudden loss of torque. Has happened when trying to overtake and caused sudden vehicle deceleration in the passing lane, which is dangerous.
The transmission jumps gears at any speed, I was researching the topic and saw the NHTSA is probing some F150s for a similar problem. And I was wondering if my vehicle was in the affected line of production.
an unrequested transmission downshift that allegedly causes the vehicle to decelerate rapidly.

Driving home today, my truck just started downshifting without warning. My truck was almost rear ended. I had about 5 min until I got home. It would take off and drive fine for a moment, and then out of nowhere drop all the way down to first gear. Very dangerous!
Shortly after I bought the vehicle in 2015, the transmission would frequently make a loud metal on metal sound when accelerating as the transmission downshifted from 5 gear to 3rd. I took it to the dealer several times. They said it was a manufacturers fault from a bad batch of transmissions and not something the dealer could permanently fix or was responsible for. No other indications. I am concerned the transmission could lock up and cause an accident. Date of the incidents is from November 2015 to present.
Lead body failure. Causing it to downshift suddenly when driving, higher rpm, and non-start condition.
I noticed in the fall of 2024 that my transmission stared shifting hard between 30-40 mph during acceleration. I had the local Ford dealership check out the issue and they stated I needed a new transmission and included an estimate. I decided to seek information from 2 independent transmission shops and they could not confirm that I needed the transmission replaced at that time. The vehicle has been driving fine and I recently started to notice the hard shift again at 30 mph. Every once in a while, when the hard shift occurs, it seems like I lose power to the drive train and my vehicle slows down to about 15 mph and vehicles need to go around me. It only lasts for a few seconds and then the acceleration will continue to drive normal. I do notice an increase in RPM's from time to time as well while shifting around 30 mph but does not feel like it is slipping. Once through this area of shifting, the vehicle operates normally shifting through other gears. There were no warning lights or other symptoms leading to this issue. I did notice that there was an article posted with a possible transmission issue from this year vehicle that is being investigated concerning sudden down shifting while driving. Here is the article [XXX]. I am wondering if this is part of this issue? INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The transmission will downshift from 6th to 5th at hwy speed....it also at other times , will only go from 1st to 2nd gear and no farther...wrench light comes on each time.I have to pull off hwy and slowly try to take off to get transmission to shift correctly. A lot of times pulling to side of road puts me in a dangerous situation. When it won't shift past 2nd gear I have to try to pull over immediately as it over-revs.I am taking it to an independent service center and dropping it off for their confirmation as sometimes tranny will shift fine for 2-3 days and then go back to malfunctioning. It started this about a year ago, but I had neck surgery then and am now just getting back to driving. The wrench light comes on each time , along with the transmission fan.The truck is available for inspection any time.
Vehicle suddenly downshifts into a lower gear while accelerating from a stop or cruising at constant speed. Wrench icon comes on the dash and check engine light comes on. Turning off the engine and back on will stop the issue and restore the power.

The transmission is a safety issue and is available for inspection. The six speed automatic has a 5th to 4th downshift that is regularly rough and can be jarring at times. A few weeks ago on my way home from work while driving 30 mph around a small bend the truck shifted from 4th to 2nd on its own and bucked so hard that it scared me and brought my hands off the steering wheel and made my back sore for the next day. This is a blind bend because of the shrubbery in the front yard at the bend and it is also at the beginning of a school zone. This could've been a worse situation if there would've been a car or school bus going in the opposite direction. This was certainly the worst one yet but there have been similar situations where the truck jarringly shifted from 4th to 3rd on its own. The problem has not been reproduced, confirmed or inspected as mentioned above. I have read multiple stories stating very similar or even the same occurrences on the forums. The lead frame in the transmission seems to be the leading cause for this issue. Others have been to the dealer, had the computer reflashed and were told it just needs to relearn their driving, only to have the issue return. After seeing these stories and now reading about the investigation into the issue I've been holding off to see what happens as I do not want to waste time and money to not have the issue fixed. There were not any warning lamps, etc before or after this issue. I have noticed that when the jarring shifts occur the small area of the cluster that shows gears one through six goes black and remains that way until manually pressing the button on the shifter to make the image reappear. To this point these shifting issues almost always occur at low speeds while gently resting my foot on the gas to keep a steady speed. It feels as though the transmission shifts into fifth too early, the rpms slowly lower and then it downshifts to fourth in a jarring manner.
2015 Ford F150 XLT 2.7L, 6 speed auto, Crew CAB, short bed. Yes, you can inspect. Going down highway around 45-50 MPH, without warning or warning indicators, transmission suddenly downshifted, rear wheels locked momentarily, RPM's ran up high and vehicle slowed down abruptly in the middle of traffic. Wrench light on dash appeared and disappeared. About 5 minutes later driving on freeway, transmission would not automatically shift up to the next gear, stayed in a low gear for a minute, then finally shifted up. Vehicle is currently at Ford getting inspected. Did not drive the vehicle since the incident on 3-29-24, except to go to the Ford dealer.
I have owned my 2015 F150 SPORT 2.7 ECO BOOST since it was new, and occasionally it downshift's mainly in town from 5th gear to 1st gear. I thought this was my fault until I heard about the safety concern. I have mentioned it to ford, but was told that downshift's were normal? Anyway I an now concerned this could happen on the interstate which I don't drive on regularly. Thanks [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
While driving at random times trans will go into a limp mode and have only 3 gear speeds. Sometimes either a wrench symbol will come up or a check engine light will come one. When this happens it’ll stay in a limp mode til ignition is cycled for it to reset. Also while at low speeds it has dropped me from 4th gear to 1st.
Transmission malfunction by sudden downshifting to first gear at highway speeds. This caused my rear wheels to lock up and skid as if I had slammed on the brakes and temporary lose control of the vehicle, which is extremely dangerous on the highway. It has occurred multiple times. There were no warning lights the first several times this happened. They check engine light did come on after about the 6th time it occurred.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 35 MPH, the transmission downshifted to a lower gear unexpectedly. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that initially, the vehicle would sporadically downshift to a lower gear. After a year, the vehicle started to sporadically downshift more frequently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired with the installation of a new transmission. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

Truck while turning right or forward will for no reason goes into lost traction(dry road) and truck downshifts and loses power. Very dangerous as there is no warning and potentially can be hit from behind since no brake lights are engaged. Recently read article that other trucks of this year and make are having same issue. I have taken into shop and awaiting what is the problem.
The transmission will down shift without warning. It has occurred 4 times in the last 60 days. Near miss accident in one occasion.
Full transmission failure after switching to 4 high on snowy highway. Speed during shift was about 50 mph. We were left stranded on a busy highway outside of Steamboat Springs, CO in wintry conditions for almost 2 hours while waiting for roadside assistance. Vehicle was towed to Phil Long Ford in Littleton, CO. There was no warning on the dashboard until the “wrench” light went on as the truck lost power. The mileage on the vehicle at the time of incident was 100,368. Response from Ford was that the vehicle was beyond the warranty period. I was given a repair estimate of $9701.90 plus an inspection bill of $250.00. The truck has been towed to an independent garage for a new transmission. I have not been given an explanation for the transmission failure as yet. ( date of event: [XXX]) INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I was traveling [XXX] near Liverpool, PA at 60mph, the truck flashed a quick code on the dash and then suddenly downshifted from 6th gear to 1st almost spinning the truck as the rear wheels locked up momentarily. It would not upshift past 3rd gear and had to travel 35 miles home like that. I called my local Ford dealer (Parsons) and they said bring the truck in for diagnostic testing, so I did. Meanwhile I searched the internet to see if others had the issue. Turns out they did, BUT my 2015 with the 6R80 was NOT in the recall notice. Ford said it was the lead frame and needed to be replaced. IF it was a known problem, why not inform owners of these trucks. That said, Ford wanted $1500 to fix it, BUT they did not have the part. So I drove the truck (never with my family in it ever again) after I cleared the code with my reader...again traveling [XXX] @ 75mph it downshifted IN TRAFFIC. Luckily I was in the right lane and made a quick move to the shoulder to avoid being run over. In Carlisle, PA there are hundreds of trucking companies and warehouses, so the truck traffic is very heavy. That was it. I searched out the part, paid for it myself and had a Ford mechanic that does work on the side fix the truck. I have been a loyal Ford guy for over 30 years...I reached out to Ford via telephone, chat and even Facebook. All they say is it is NOT under any recall. Hard to swallow that when I am driving a $75K truck THEY built and they will NOT stand behind a $2K fix. Well goodbye Ford, as a business owner for over 25 years. If I make an error I fix it NO MATTER what. I gave Ford the opportunity to stand behind truck and they did...JUST FAR behind it and passed me as I sit on the shoulder of the road. A few years back, I was having an issue with my truck shifting hard. I actually took it to a friend's shop and he repaired it, for about $1600. They changed a "chip" in it. The vehicle was never inspected by Ford, or the police, or my insurance company. The problem was identified by the repair shop and taken care of, or so I thought. The issue seemed fixed for a while but within the last year the issue has begun again. The transmission will not shift at times. It seems stuck, which causes the engine to rev very high. I worry about causing lasting damage to the engine as a result of the transmission sticking.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted to third gear almost causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that prior to the failure the vehicle was hesitating while depressing the accelerator pedal. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

Transmission downshift during constant cruise speed.
The vehicle has downshifted to a low gear several times since I’ve owned it new in 2015. Usually has happened when starting to slow down to exit the highway. Driver and passengers were jarred and thrown forward unexpectedly. Driver was startled. Backend of truck swayed. Dealer service has been told over the years. They said they were aware but there were NO RECALLS and Ford didn’t have a FIX as of yet. They said it was COMOUTER RELATED causing the transmission to downshift. I also said sometimes it takes longer than normal to shift from the start position they claimed they were waiting for a fix from FORD. Dealer inspected. No warning lamps or messages appear on the dash as a warning. They said they would inform me of any fixes for the problem as they came down from the manufacturer.
Was traveling 75 MPH while towing a trailer. Truck was in 6th gear cruising. No fault codes whatsoever, no warning lamps etc. Suddenly the truck briefly downshifted into 1st gear, then upshifted back to 6th gear again. Issue occurred during heavy rain. I cleaned the bulkhead connector on the transmission afterwards and put dielectric grease on the connector o-ring. Connector Did not appear dirty or corroded. Issue had not occurred again for 8,000 miles.
During the course of driving on the interstate at 70mph the vehicle decelerated and went to a lower gear. The dash panel of the truck did not show all of the gears available. An emergency stop on the side of the road and turning the vehicle off and back on temporarily resolved the issue. It occurred intermittently and without warning. The truck continued to show problems and was taken to a transmissions shop which checked the transmission, replaced a line for a small leak and said everything seemed to be in order. The cause was not found to be a lack of transmission fluid as the levels were normal. The truck continued to intermittently decelerate. The last time that occurred, the back wheels locked up while on the road. The truck is now sitting due to the safety risk it poses and the locked up transmission on the rear end. It is available for inspection upon request. My safety and that of others was at risk. The problem was not replicated in a service center. The vehicle was inspected beforehand but not after the last issue, (it needs a tow as the back wheels are frozen). There was a warning light for the engine camshaft that came on and the problem was diagnosed at Ford as a camshaft issue though they could not understand the deceleration issue. The truck was taken first to Ford then to an independent transmission shop. Due to the issue the truck is not in use.
[XXX]: check engine light was on and codes P2196 and P2198 were present. The dealer suspected it was the purge valve, causing the problem so they replaced it and reset the codes. 10/10/24: I brought the truck in to have it looked at due to the check engine light being on again. I was told the lead frame needed to be replaced but was on backorder. The bill to diagnose this was 196.80 and I was told I could still drive it. On [XXX], I had to bring my truck in to be inspected because while I was going about 70 mph it all of a sudden downshifted and jerked me forward like it was going to abruptly stop. The check engine light came on and I had to drive pretty slow to avoid a breakdown on the interstate. Very scary to have this happen in interstate traffic It could have easily caused an accident. At this time, It was brought to my attention that the downshifting could also be related to technical bulletin 1495. Since we couldn’t get a real definitive answer on what was going on and the lead frame was on backorder, I decided to try and have the case connector in the bulletin removed and replaced as well as do a transmission tuneup on 10/23/24. This bill cost me $383.77. All codes were cleared and all appeared to be working correctly. On [XXX], I was driving on the interstate at about 70 mph and my truck seized up again and jerked forward, again scaring me and potentially causing an accident. I drove it very slowly directly to a repair shop. It was there until November 7, 2024 after the lead frame was replaced. That bill cost me $1321.68. I decided to file this complaint after I had seen a news article that this downshifting was being investigated for the same year as my 2015 Ford F150 for a safety issue. I am experiencing dangerous shifting failures with my 2015 Ford F-150 equipped with the 6R80 automatic transmission. My truck intermittently fails to shift properly, holds onto gears too long, or refuses to shift into 6th gear. It also enters fail-safe mode, displaying a wrench icon on the dashboard. Restarting the vehicle temporarily resolves the issue, but it keeps coming back. The truck recently threw diagnostic trouble codes P0720 and P0722, which are related to the Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor, a known failure point in the 6R80 transmission lead frame. Ford previously recalled 2011-2013 F-150s (Recall #19V-075, Ford Recall 19S07) for this exact issue because it can cause a catastrophic downshift from 6th gear to 1st at highway speeds, leading to loss of control. However, 2015 models were not included in the recall, despite using the same transmission and lead frame. I am concerned that Ford’s recall did not go far enough and that my 2015 F-150 should be included due to the identical symptoms and part failure. This is a serious safety hazard, as a sudden downshift at highway speeds could cause loss of control, an accident, or even fatalities. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this issue and expand the recall to include 2015 F-150s with the same 6R80 transmission and defective lead frame.
The vehicle will randomly shift into 1st or 2nd gear no matter what speed you are traveling. This causes a sudden slam of vehicle and slows town rapidly even causing the tires to skid. This feels extremely unsafe. There aren’t any recalls on my year and model specifically, however this is a very known issue with Ford 6-speed automatic transmissions. There is a safety recall on 2011-2013 Ford F150 models for the same issues I am having with my 2015 models. Occasionally the engine light will appear and the code reads transmission range sensor circuit. Also, occasionally the vehicle won’t start and the “see service manual” message will appear.
This vehicle started having periods of time that felt and sounded like you were running over rumble strips. This started happening at 38,000 miles and it would happen every 30 seconds to 1 min when going a steady speed. Also when shifting into different gears. Took it to a private mechanic and had the transmission fluid and filter changed which seemed to help a little. Then gradually started coming back more and more again. At 40,000 mi we decided to take it to the Ford dealership in portage, Wisconsin. They diagnosed the issue as a torque converter and torque converter solenoid. All together. This will be costing us $5,000. Upon looking up potential recalls for this problem, I noticed many F150 2015's with the same problem that were included in a recall. For some reason this vehicle is not but obviously should be. I contacted Ford and they told me to discuss the situation with the dealership that is doing the repair on the truck. Ford dealership told me to contact the Ford office. After getting bounced back and forth, I just decided to file this claim with you. I don't know what the next steps could be.
I was driving at 65 mph when my 2015 F150 shifted into 1st gear. I started skidding sideways and almost flipped but was able to run through the gears quickly and got it into Neutral. This has happened a few other times since the initial incident. I constantly receive codes related to lead frame assembly issue: P0720, P0721, P0722, P161B, etc. I am in desperate need of a new lead frame assembly so my vehicle does not crash on the highway. Thanks!
My truck downshifted from 5th gear to 1st as I was going on a highway ramp . I was inches from being hit from behind by an 18 wheeler. Tbis started a few months ago it would downshifted when accelerating went from a few time a month to it happening weekly . I have counted ford and they hav said there’s no recall for my year .
While driving at 60 mph on highway my transmission will switch from Drive into Neutral and alternate in from Drive to Neutral randomly. Crash prevention sensors stop working at the same time. This causes safety issues for me and passengers as I am not able to control speed. It shifts out of high gear into a lower gear and feels like it is only operable in this one gear. Unable to tell which gear because the gear indicator lights on dash stop working during this time. Many warning icons pop up on dash readout during this (check engine, wrench, cross traffic collision, lane assist, etc.) I see on the internet this problem is extremely common due to the 6R80 Transmission Molded Lead Frame failure which has been involved in millions of recalls but for some reason not my vehicle. this is extremely dangerous and could be life threatening to my auto occupants and others in traffic. I have an appointment to have it looked at by my dealer where i purchased the vehicle new in 2015.

I was driving down the interstate when my truck abruptly started hard shifting and wouldn’t come out of 3rd gear had to pull off the road put the truck in park and turn the truck off. After turning the vehicle off and back on the check engine light came on and a yellow wrench illuminated on the dash board saying “see owner manual”. I attempted to put it in drive with success it will showed me in 3rd gear and had a hard time gaining speed. I drove the truck safely to auto parts store and they attached there OBD scanner to the truck and got faulty codes for p07021abd p07022. They said it was a lead frame assembly sensor failure. My truck was working perfectly fine before this incident had occurred.

The lead frame on the 6r80 transmission is faulty causing a sudden stop in operation while the vehicle is moving.
The transmission failed at the start of a 900 mile trip while traveling on [XXX]. After stopping at the toll booths the car intermittently would not engage into first gear. Several times I had to turn the vehicle off either in the toll lane and try to start it again, or pull the car off the road for a short time. Once the car was moving it would not shift through the gears properly and I had to drive at a slow speed in the right lane while the normal, faster traffic passed us. Fortunately we were 10 miles from Capital Ford in Charleston, WV and it was on a Wednesday so they were able to check the car that morning. The transmission technicians diagnosed the problem and replaced the Leadframe which they had in stock. After approximately 7 hours waiting we were able to get back on the road. The vehicle has not been inspected by any other people other than the service center at Capital Ford in Charleston. No engine warning lamps or messages appeared prior to or after the incident. Once we returned home I stopped into the service center at my local Ford dealership to discuss the issue and check on recalls or extended warranty programs but was told there were none for this particular vehicle year. The transmission is having deceleration at high rates of speed on the highway. It is have severe hard metal clicks that cause the front end to lock up and squeal tires at over 50 miles an hour. It is failing to take gear especially in drive. It is resulting in rolling backwards (I live in the mountains and at times haul a trailer resulting in high safety issues.) Unable to take gears and take off from a stop at times. This is all putting me at high risk of having a wreck and losing control especially on narrow mountain roads and traveling busy highways. I live off a corner and people come around fast and the transmission is failing. The issues with the 2014 is the same issue I am having with the 2015. I am struggling to get the dealership to manage the issue. It varies in frequency, but is profoundly limiting my ability to do my second job and travel due to fear of getting in an accident injuring myself, my livestock, or others. The truck at times will flash a wrench symbol, but other times will not. They started earlier this year. I have had the truck at the dealership 2x and get poor service since it is not a 2014, but experiencing same issues as that model.
The truck only goes through 1 through 3 and then when it shifts into 4 it doesn’t go anywhere and it throws a bunch of service codes that just go away when you turn the truck off it has dropped from 6th gear to 3rd and locked the tires up and spun me out almost causing me to wreck the truck

While driving at approximately 35 mph, the blind spot warning and rear traffic warning system indicated that there was a failure to the system. I parked the truck and then tried to restart the vehicle. The truck would not start. When it was diagnosed at the dealer, they found a faulty lead frame in the transmission. This part was then replaced. I have checked with Ford and my vehicle is NOT being recalled at this time. I have seen other recalls involving lead frame in other fords that have the same transmission as mine.

The vehicle loses its sensor for gear placement. The wrench icon appears and the engine fan starts running fast. The vehicle will not shift and causes an extremely dangerous situation while on the road. The gear shift panel doesn’t show an engaged gear. Driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly shifted from 6th gear (top gear) down to first gear. The tires locked up and the car decelerated rapidly. I shifted the car into neutral and coasted to a stop at the side of the highway. While slowing down the wrench icon came on. After 5 minutes, the wrench icon went away. I talked to the ford dealership and they stated they could not diagnose the issue unless the wrench icon was on at the time of inspection. The wrench icon does not give a code. The vehicle has shifted on its own multiple times and has caused some close calls. Ford wont address the issue because the warning light is only on for a few minutes at a time and the issue is sporadic.
While driving and letting off accelerator the rear-end locked up causing the truck to slide, my truck is not on recall list for the tranmission issue but from what I can read from others this seems like it could be that problem.
I am driving back to Florida on [XXX] and my engine light comes on and the wrench symbol on my dash, as I am going about 70 mph and accelerate suddenly my truck going from gear/speed 6 down to 5. I take my foot off the accelerate and it goes back to speed /gear 6. If i stay at one speed and do not accelerate its ok, the minute I accelerate it changes speed. I took it into the Ford Dealer in Daytona Beach, and they are fixing the problem, but I don't have all the details. I am wondering if this is related to your recall to the 2014 F-150 where the problem is exactly like mine. I have not gotten the truck back, only that it is costing around $2400. In 2022, while behind the wheel of my 2015 F150, I would be driving down the highway (70+ mph) and the transmission would suddenly downshift to 1st gear, then jump to 3rd, and then back down to first gear, all over the place. This happened on several occasions. It was erratic, I experienced sudden changes in speed, sudden and frightening revving of the engine (especially on the highway) and on several occasions I had to make sudden changes to my driving to ensure my safety as well as the safety of others on the road. After I was able to pull over and turn my truck off, the truck would either not turn back on or take a while to be able to turn on. I had no warning that the transmission was about to shift gears and only noticed a check engine light after the incident had occurred. After taking my truck to a transmission shop and they did not find an issue with the transmission (it worked correctly while they test drove it), I took it to a Ford Dealership where I was told there was a fault with the CAM Shaft sensors. After a $3,000 repair to fix the issue, I recently found Ford has Recalled 2014 F-150s for issues that sound identical to what I was experiencing in my 2015 F-150.
While driving vehicle slows down/loses power. Dash reads "see manual". Started happening a few days ago. Took to mechanic today and they stated this is a known issue from Ford transmissions, I should inquire about a recall as the parts are backordered three weeks and the costs is a substantial amount. Recall only covers 2014 not 2015, from what I am reading the same issue happening to my 2015.
Twice now in the past 2 weeks I was accelerating from a stop when soon after my truck shifts from 4th to 5th, it’ll slam back down into 2nd gear. Both times my rpms spike, obviously, and my tires briefly screech. Then the truck just shift back up and seems completely normal. There was zero indication of any issues prior to either of these incidents. One of the times, I had my wife and two toddlers in the truck. It was lucky I didn’t lose control either of the times. From the forms that I’ve read, it sounds like I have a faulty transmission range sensor or may need a software update. I have not yet had a dealership officially diagnose my vehicle.
Automatic transmission would suddenly downshift from a high gear, slamming into first gear abruptly slowing the vehicle down without warning. It felt like I was in an accident. I was so startled , I didn't know if I had hit something or if I had been hit in the rear end. On another occasion the rear end locked up and caused the tires to chirp. The vehicle only had 38,374 miles on it. I found a Ford training bulletin (TSB 15-0142 & TSB 16-0015) on 2015-2016 F150's with transmission issues. On 07/28/21 I took the vehicle to Jarrett Ford and they performed a transmission update 16-0015 on the vehicle, R/O Number 623834/1, but the problem was not resolved. On 08/23/21 I took the vehicle back to Jarrett Ford and they had to completely rebuild the transmission R/O Number 624682/2.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 70-75 MPH, the transmission abruptly downshifted from 7th gear to 4th or 3rd gear. The transmission also downshifted from 4th gear to 1st gear. The failure occurred several times while driving until the contact shifted the transmission in neutral. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 174,000.
Mileage: 174,000
The contact's husband owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle independently downshifted and the RPM surged to 6,000 RPM. The failure persisted while depressing the accelerator pedal and the vehicle failed to accelerate and shift out of first gear. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. After restarting the vehicle several times, the contact drove the vehicle to a dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective powertrain control module (PCM). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact recently discovered that the 2014 model year Ford F-150 was recalled under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V444000 (Power Train) and the contact linked the failure to the recall. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

Put truck in reverse and backed up. Then put gear shift into Drive and the gear got stuck in Neutral and won't budge. A Ford recall for 2014 was issued the same day but I believe based on this same issue, 2015 models need to be included in the 6/25/2024 recall also.
2015 f150 the transmission downshifted at highway speeds on numerous occasions one time I was towing a trailer with my family in the truck and it downshifted from sixth gear to first gear without any warning at all I had to pull over on the left side of the highway after the truck locked up the rear wheels I had the transmissions lead frame replaced at the cost of $1200 through a ford dealer
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle abruptly downshifted with the transmission warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle shuddered and hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on several occasions; however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The dealer was finally able to diagnose the vehicle with a defective wheel speed sensor on the lead frame. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
TRUCK WILL DOWN SHIFT AUTOMATICALLY TO 1ST GEAR AT TIMES EXSPECIALLY WHEN PULLING A TRAILER OF ANY KIND WHEN SLOWING DOWN, (EXAMPLE) GETTING OFF A HIGHWAY RAMP SLOWING DOWN TO THE INTERSECTION. I JUST READ THEY ARE RECALLING 2014 WITH THAT ISSUE, 2015 ALSO HAS THE SAME ISSUE, ATLEAST MINE DOES. HAS PROBABLY DONE IT 6 TIMES, ALL WITH A TRAILER ON THE TRUCK.
Vehicle geared down without warning, several occasions it would stay geared down on an interstate. I would have to pull over to get it to perform properly. Took it in to the local Ford dealership for repair and it cost me $7000 to replace transmission, immediately afterwards it continued gearing down which happened to be an issue with the power control module. I know the 2014 have been recalled with the same issues, and feel the 2015 should probably also be included in the recall.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle unintendedly downshifted to a lower gear. The contact observed a vibration coming from underneath the middle of the vehicle. On other occasions, while driving at slow speeds, the vehicle began jerking slightly to moderately. The vehicle was taken to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while attempting to drive from a complete stop, the RPMs were significantly high, but the vehicle hesitated to respond while depressing the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at high speeds, the vehicle experienced unexpected downshifts to first gear. The power train warning light and the check engine warning light were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the transmission was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall; therefore, he would be charged a fee for the diagnostic test and repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

6r80 transmission eractic shifts, will not change gears. Skips gears. Code po0715 , Concerned for safety. Shouldn't have these problems at 66000 miles
My latest issue is with the 2.7 ecoboost engine. I had a total failure of this engine last year and am still awaiting a replacement that I am paying for. This is unacceptable as I had this vehicle serviced according to maintenance schedule. I also have had systems report failure such as the hillside assist and the electronic parking brake. Additionally, the automatic transmission has locked up in third gear quite a few times. There are other issues such as a leaky oil pan and such.
The contact's father owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while his father was driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle downshifted inadvertently. The vehicle was steered into a parking lot where the driver observed that the engine was revving without depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was turned off and was not able to be restarted. The vehicle was towed to the residence where a handheld diagnostic machine retrieved DTC code: P0707. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the leadframe needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

I was driving a couple of days ago and all of a sudden I got this wrench icon on my dashboard and my 2015 Ford F150 went to limp mode from 70 mph to 35 mph for no apparent reason. I've noticed the PRNDM21 is grayed out. Luckily after about 10 seconds, it went back to normal. Today Feb 23, 2024, I went to pick up my girls from school and this wrench icon shows up again, this time it felt like my truck was not responding to acceleration, it's like it had a mind of its own. I was pressing the brake but it felt like it was not responding so I almost rear-ended another vehicle. Luckily, there was room on the right lane so I swerved immediately not even thinking if there was any car so fortunately, after about a minute, the car went back to normal. I was so scared driving the truck after I picked up my girls to school, I was hoping it wouldn't happen again as there were a lot of kids crossing the school. When I got home, I used my code reader and it came up with P0707 and P0706 (Transmission Sensor a Circuit Range Performance and Transmission Range Sensor A Circuit Low) issues. I contacted a mobile mechanic and scheduled for a repair this Sunday. Hope they can get this fix asap!
Throttle body failure while driving resulting in immediate need to pull off the road as vehicle lost power and a lot of warnings lights going off. Very dangerous at Haigh speeds in traffic.
Driving 68mph with cruise control engaged, truck violently jerked. Gear indicator went to 1st and started flashing. There was no gas pedal response. The truck was just coasting. About 10 seconds later, the gear indicator went back to 6th and resumed normal operations. This seems to be the same lead frame issue earlier f150s had with this transmission but no recall has been made for the 2015’s. This is a serious safety issue and needs to be addressed by Ford
My 2015 F-150 3.5L ecoboost experienced a sudden loss of power during highway speeds and shut off. I was in rush hour traffic and almost caused a few accidents as my truck seemed like it went into "limp mode". While my steering wheel was tight I managed to get off the road safely with no power whatsoever. My idiot lights were flashing like crazy and stated "Advance Trac Service" and "Hill Start assist not available". I let the truck sit for a bit and restarted it. It ran solid another 15 miles. Today I'm getting Advance Trac message: "Advance Trac Service" and "Hill Start assist not available", all while the engine check light remains on. I have read multiple issues similar to mine but there does not seem to be a recall for this. This is a VERY unsafe ordeal and very scary. Had my daughter been driving, this may have been an accident for sure. I see Ford "extended" the warranty to cover any issues. But I do not drive my truck that often and I find it hard to believe nothing is being done about the "throttle body" issue (from my reading). This is even happening to Ford trucks overseas. I get they do not have any say in the US, bu it does show this is a MAJOR issue.
While driving normally down the freeway the transmission on my 2015 Ford F-150 King Ranch(4x2) jumped into neutral, the "D" which was lite up orange started flashing orange to white then when white, the "wrench" light can on check engine light came on, the truck had power but when you pushed on the gas it only revved up like it was in neutral. Thankfully we were able to pull to the side of the road without getting hit, and I turn the truck off, that seemed to "reset" the trucks computer and the truck was able to go into gear, we drove it home immediately without another incident. This was the second time it happened, I thought the first time maybe I did something wrong, but it is obviously a software problem with the transmission. My son and I could have been killed, this is a serious problem that needs a recall, I have done some basic research in the past 24 hours and there are similar problems all over the Country.
The transmission lead frame failed while traveling down the road under normal driving conditions. We came to a stop and the truck revved very high on its own. My husband shut the truck off and put it in park. Afterwards it refused to start it would not even crank. We had a mechanic hook his computer to it and received 3 codes for the transmission range sensor which tells the vehicle what gear it's in. I have had several shops and a dealer tell me there's been many instances of this part failing. It's about a $2000 repair. Luckily for us this happened on a less busy road but it was still dangerous to be in the middle of an intersection unable to move. I can only imagine how bad this would have been in a busy town. I have not had the repair done at this time but will be soon.
My 2015 3.5l ecoboost had the Exhaust manifolds replaced back in 2018 when my truck had 51,909 miles on it and now at 90,000 miles the new manifolds warped and snapped off a stud bolt to which the American Fork Utah Ford Dealership said that since it was over a year ago even though it was a known issue that was covered under warranty I will have to pay out of pocket over $2,000 per manifold... this is a known issue with the manifold warping and causing exhaust leaks when the stud bolts snap off. Ford needs to recall this design flaw and pay for the fix.
the truck has been acting up for several months now. it has been throwing out strange codes when attempting to start {parking brake malfunction, oil light, power train system default, ect} and often times it WILL NOT CRANK unless we hook it up to a battery charger for just a bit of time. The truck has a new battery that was installed by autozone, where it was bought {6 months ago}. Since we were in town, we stopped by autozone to get them to attach the code reader. {power train system and ABS malfunction} while driving, later in the day, the trucks auto start/stop system turns itself on and stops the truck dead in its spot.(danger: we were pulling onto the road {fm 2100} during rush hour traffic, when the trucks system went haywire and stopped us dead in our tracks in the center of both turn lanes and two of the main lanes.) there was no restarting, nor were we able to get the gear to change into neutral in order for us to be able to move it out of the main roadway. when we were finally able to move it, we hooked a fully charged jump box {one rated for up to semi truck sized vehicles} to it to get it started, and it simply would not crank for quite a while. at this time, we took the opportunity to recheck the oil level, which was set at full. After several minutes of begging "the truck" to just start so we could just take her home, it finally cranked up and home is where we took her. the truck has 19771 original miles on it. it was drove off of the show room floor, back in 2015, with 6 miles on it, and has had absolute regular maintenance and has only had one owner.
Vehicle shifts into 6 gear on takeoff causing vehicle not to accelerate and causing vehicle to creep when I needed acceleration almost causing accident with oncoming traffic. While driving 60 miles an hour the vehicle shifts down to 2 gear. I dropped the vehicle off at the ford dealer, They diagnosed it to be the connected molded lead frame input shaft speed sensor these are not readily available with no estimate when they will receive this part. I did a search and found that there was a recall on this up to 2013. this part almost got me killed and now they can't even tell me when this will be available my vehicle has been at the dealer for almost 3 weeks waiting for this part. they are telling when they receive this part it will cost approx. $900.00 for the repair I feel this should be included in this safety recall this is a very dangerous defect that almost took my life.
F150 starts to lose power and shudder/vibrate about 60% of the time when driving. Picking up speed, truck lost half power and engine light starting flashing. When it caught gear and speed, the light stopped flashing but the truck continues to shudder and vibrate like crazy.
I was pulling out into the road, and the Engine cutout, then slowly came back. I did some investigation, and the truck transmission cooler lines had corroded through. Luckily I was not in heavy traffic. There had been no obvious signs of failure. I've owned numerous other vehicles while living in Northeaster NY with no major corrosion failures.
accelator stuck to the floor a couple of times when gassing it to pass other cars on the roads. The pedal would actually will stay pressed down even when my foot is off the pedal, it will speed the truck up even when pressing down hard on the brakes. when i got it to stop and cut the truck off while in park and turning the key the rpms were going absouletely nuts. looking to see if this is a common occurance. thanks in advance!
While the vehicle was running, it spontaneous entered "limp mode". The wrench light came on the instrument cluster and warned that the blind spot and rear collision systems were offline. The gear selector indicator also disappeared. After the vehicle was shut off, it would not restart for numerous attempts. When it did, it was being driven to the dealership when the same series of events occurred at a red light. Afterwards, the truck struggles to accelerate. The dealership has diagnosed a lead frame failure, which was a recall on the previous generation F150s. Based off discussions online, it seems that this is common.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 30-35 MPH, the vehicle downshifted and the RPM’s increased without the vehicle accelerating. The contact then stated that the transmission inadvertently downshifted to 5th gear. The powertrain malfunction warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and produced DTC codes: P061A, P0720, P0722. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was transferred to the NHTSA Hotline and provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 127,500.

My 2015 Ford F150 has 108K miles. While driving on 2/21/23, the engine started missing, several engine warning light began illuminating. I was able to pull to the shoulder and stop the engine which was missing badly. After allowing the engine to completely stop and turning the ignition off, I allowed it to settle for a moment, then I restarted the engine. I placed it in gear and attempted to drive again, but the same missing and instrument cluster faults recurred. At this point, I had it towed to Loveland Ford, in Loveland Colorado. After evaluation, I was notified the Throttle Body had failed which also caused the instrument cluster faults. Upon reading about the Throttle Body, one of the articles indicated this has been and issue for Ford F150 years 2014 -2016 produced in Dearborn and Kansas, but that Ford had voluntarily repaired vehicles with issues via extended warranty when reported. My vehicle falls in the date range and was produced in Dearborn. This is a very dangerous condition and had this occurred on a busy highway, would be a danger to me as well as other vehicles.
Second time my truck has shut down on the freeway due to a throttle body. Very dangerous!
Driving about 40 mph, truck down shifts abruptly them the gear selections light goes out and wrench light comes on. Approximately 15 seconds later wrench light goes off and everything is normal. Milage is 128838 today at 11:33. On 2 separate instances the gear sedation light went off and the truck was stuck in the gear it was in when it happened. I did not notice it and I stopped at a stop sight so I was taking of in approximately 3 or 4th gear. These occasions it did not occur but if on coming traffic were approaching it could definitely be an issue. I have the part ordered but it is on national back order. Ford should be made to extend the recall on these electronic transmissions and be made to put an emphasis on making these parts.
While driving at posted speeds on open highway and in congested work zones, this F-150 experienced an Electronic Throttle Body failure 5 times between Rochester Hills, MI and Granger, IN on 9/13/2022. It happened again on 9/14/2022 in city two way traffic with no shoulder. In each incident, the vehicle went into limp mode with rough idle and had to be completely stopped, turned off and restarted in high traffic, hazardous stopping locations. This happened once before in the mountains in Utah, in a construction zone back on 5/02/2021. At that time, the check engine light did not stay on and Ford was unable to find a code. It did not happen again until 9/13/2022. These incidents put me and my family in danger with each episode. Ford is fully aware of this issue, has in the past and should notify owners of the potential issue and continue to make repairs available as a recall or extended warranty service issue.
One of the transmission fluid lines that runs from the transmission to the transmission cooler located in the front grill of the vehicle broke completely off and released all of the transmission fluid from the system onto the highway. This resulted in the loss of power and unstable shifting of the transmission. The line breakage was not due to impact or any damage. It broke without warning. There was no indicator light or warning on the dash showing what had happened the vehicle just started shifting erratically and power was lost. The line snapped in a bend where the line changes from steel to rubber and then back to steel. I believe this is due to a poor design that places stress on the connectors that give way over time.
Two weeks ago my 2015 Ford F150 died in a parking lot. I drove it in fine, walked into the store, and when I left the store the truck was dead. Battery was good, alternator was good, but would not start. I had it towed to my local Ford dealer. Three days later they informed me that the starter was bad and it was replaced. Two days later I'm driving at highway speed (approx 70 mph) and the truck violently downshifts from sixth to third gear causing the tires to lock up and the vehicle to skid approx 20 ft in NYC traffic. Luckily there was no one close behind me although there were numerous car horns beeped and swerving traffic as I rapidly decelerated. The truck remained in third gear until I moved into the safety lane and the RPMs (due to slowing) returned to normal. The instrument panel only displayed a message "Contact Dealer". I shut the truck off and the turned it back on with no faults indicated and limped it home. Since then the truck has repeatedly failed to start. It will start fine for a day or two, and then nothing when the key is turned. I had it towed to my local service station where the mechanic informed me that the computer code errors indicated that there were multiple errors with the transmission. The soonest that the Ford dealer can inspect is 35 days from now. I see that earlier model Ford F150's had a factory recall for similar transmission problems. My concern is that due to electrical malfunctions within the transmission control module, Ford F150's may rapidly decelerate when the transmission inadvertently downshifts multiple gears causing accidents and possible loss of life.
2015 Ford F150 - 85,000 miles. While driving at highway speeds vehicle suddenly locked the tires and began to slide out of control. PRNDL display went black and wrench warning light illuminated on dash. Car behind me nearly rear-ended due to rapid deceleration without brake lights. I was able to steer to the shoulder to avoid an accident. After shutting off vehicle and restarting, vehicle acted normally. Wrench indicator remained illuminated. Took vehicle to local ford dealership where multiple PCM codes were found: P06E9, P0707, P1702, P1921. Dealer Service was able to reproduce issue; slight movement/wiggle to shifter caused transmission range sensor to "go erratic". Technician recommended replacing transmission Molded Lead Frame. I was given a repair estimate of $1284 and told the part was on back order 6 weeks due to the high number of failures in this part. This part has been recalled on earlier year models of the F150, but the 2015 was not included. I was lucky this incident happened during warm, dry weather and traffic was light. Had the roads been wet or icy (or had the driver behind me not been paying attention) this would have resulted in a violent, high speed accident. I feel lucky to be alive and unhurt.
Riding on expressway in high speed lane. Felt like I was hit in the rear, jerking my head and body pretty severely. Speed decreased to 30 miles an hour almost instantly. Eventually, regained power after 15-30 seconds. Wrench light came on and stayed on for about 2 minutes. It happened a second time in same day at a lower speed. Immediately took car to dealer so not sure how often it would reoccur. Have since come to learn that the cause is a bad molded leadframe connector in transmission. There have been alerts on older F150 models but not on my year. I know at least 2 other people with same issue on their 2015 models. Dealer said that it's impossible to get parts because so many people are having same issue. In my opinion, this is a major safety problem especially if it happens at high speeds with a semi behind you or in bad weather conditions.
While driving the truck, the engine RPM increased suddenly, and the rear wheel locked while traveling at about 55 mph. The vehicle stopped quick enough that caused the seat belts to lock. Took the truck to the dealership and was informed that the leed frame for the transmission was not properly communicating with the truck computer. We were told that the vehicle was in risk of shifting into reverse at anytime and not to drive the truck until it is fixed. The are other F-Series trucks that have been recalled for this issue but my truck was not included in the recall.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle decelerated and went into limp mode. The driver was able to get the vehicle off the highway. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 79,000.

UNKNOWN During shifting the truck lurches and loud clunking sounds happen under the truck.
Happened several times only at highway speeds. Truck goes into limp mode after accelerating to highway speed (~65). Also happened once under normal conditions, just keeping at approximately 65mph. Lose throttle pedal control, slows down rapidly, shakes excessively. No warning to when it’s going to happen, so it put me into a hazardous situation.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle was slowly idling and stalling while the hill assists were not available, see manual and transmission warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The failure persisted and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was repaired, replaced the throttle body and motor assembly, . The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 77,400.

- I'm not sure what components have failed. However the issue relates to Tires halting while driving and they screech across the road. RPM's will switch from 1,500 to 4,500, down to 2,500 and at times nearly redlines. While driving it will also kick into neutral and will not operate to move in reverse or forward, even though initially the vehicle was put in "Drive". The engine sounds like it's overworking when going through this issue. The "gear" and "prndl" lights on the dash will flicker and/or disappear when this issue arises. The truck can be available upon request for inspection. - When driving and the issue arises. The truck will jolt while improperly shifting gears. It will skip several gears and even go into neutral. I lose all control of the truck when this issue occurs. Recently, I was traveling while my truck jolted. I lost all control of the truck. I could not engage with the transmission. The speed of the truck significantly decreased and I lurched forward in my seat. The gears went from "6th" and shifted automatically to "1st". The vehicle behind me nearly collided with my truck. This issues poses a threat to all drivers and passengers within range. Especially considering this happens unexpectedly. - This issue is common with Ford F-150's. Their has been a major recall, however my truck is not on that list. The recall seems to be issues on 2011's-2013's. Ford needs to investigate on their 2015 year models as well. I'm not the only one with this issue. -It has not been inspected by anyone, on this vehicle. However the fact remains, this is a prominent issue within F-150's. - The wrench light will appear right as the issue occurs. I have also received the codes listed: P0707, and P0706. This has been an ongoing issue recently. I've tried to diagnose the issue and have come upon the same issue that many others face. Ford Motor Co. is responsible for this issue.
I was driving on a city street at about 30mph up a slight incline when the truck just seem to shut off. But it didn't die, the engine was still running but barely. It was running very rough, like miss firing on several cylinders. It would not accelerate, no change of engine sound or power, the throttle was totally unresponsive. It also felt as if the brakes were being applied slightly. A message came on the dash saying something about hill assist and another wrench message. I had no chose but to pull over in traffic before it quit. This was on or about July 18 then again today on July 26. This time I was one a city street down to one lane due to construction. I was barely able to make it to a turn off before it totally quit moving, with traffic backed up behind me. I shut off the engine to let the computer reboot and got a message that hill assist was now off. After a longer than normal crank time it started and ran ok. I called Stivers Ford to make an appointment and was told it was probably a fluke, and wait and see if it did it again. I now have an appointment for August 4 to have it checked. I went on Google after the first time and found many complaints about the same situations, but with no fixes. If this were to happen under the right circumstances it could be very serious. I'm a recently retired auto technician , and shop owner of 48 years. I understand the difficulty in finding intermittent failures. But after reading all the same symtoms in Ford pickups for years it seems there should be more done from the manufacturer to address this problem.

When driving on the highway an alert popped up on the dash stating Hill Descent Control Fault which was followed quickly by Service Advancetrac and a yellow wrench and see manual. These warning continued to cycle and the truck seemed to lose ability to maintain speed as is slowed down and the steering became difficult. I was able to get it off the highway without incident as there were not many vehicles on the road, but if it would have been busy, I would have been in trouble. Once on the shoulder I placed it in park and the truck began to shudder and run rough. I turned the truck off and let it sit for a few minutes and then restarted it. Upon restart everything appeared normal and there were no warnings, I was able to continue to my destination. I called the dealership and they sounded like they had heard this story before and told me I could bring it in within a weeks time. I was also told that it would not cause any damage to continue to drive it. While waiting for the repair I did have to continue to drive it and this same thing would happen randomly just going down the road and all of the sudden you get a warning lose the ability to maintain speed and steering becomes difficult. Being on the highway in this situation is dangerous since you never know when it might occur. After going to the dealership they listed the repairs on my form as: installed BL3Z9E926 B Throttle Body and Motor Asy installed BL3Z 12029 C Coil Asy - Ignition installed BL3Z 12A402 A Boot - Ignition wire prot (5 items) installed CYFS 12 YT4 Spark Plug (6 items) The parts and labor of this repair came to $972.56. I have read forums online that that state others have had this repair done as well and some people say their steering rack was replaced as well. This repair was just done yesterday (6-26-21) and I am hopeful that it will fix the problem. I feel that based on the reading I have done this has happened to lots of people and is dangerous, so I wanted to report my incident.
VEHICLE LOST ALL SPEED CONTROL WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP AND ENGINE WAS SHUTTERING/VIBRATING/MISFIRING AND DASH PANEL LIT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE WITH ALL KINDS OF WARNINGS. PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SHUT DOWN AND LET SIT FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. RESTARTED AND ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ILLUMINATED. TRUCK WAS RUNNING OK AND LIMITER WAS NOT ENGAGED WAS A SHORT DISTANCE FROM HOME SO I BEGAN TO DRIVE. MADE IT UP TO 55 MPH AND ABOUT 1/2 A MILE AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING IT BEGAN TO ACT UP AGAIN SO TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT I PULLED OVER AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY DIAGNOSED TO TO BE A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. $502.46, A HEART AND PANIC ATTACK LATER IT SEEMS TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE A GRINDING NOISE EMANATED FROM SOMEWHERE NEAR THE FRONT WHEELS. THE WAS ALSO THE FEELING OF A SHUTTER OR A SHAKE FROM THE SAME AREA. THIS WAS FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE FORD DEALER, WE WERE TOLD THEY TOOK A FLUID SAMPLE FROM THE TRANSFER CASE AND FOUND IT CONTAMINATED WITH METAL. AT 44,576 MILES, WE HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSFER CASE.

MY TRUCK WON'T START SOMETIMES AND TURNS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. IT HAPPENS EVERY FEW WEEKS. IT SHOWS A MESSAGE SAYING THE OIL I LOW BUT WHEN I CHECK THE OIL, IT IS FINE.
VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST DRIVE/POWER, THEN IT DRIVE/POWER CAME BACK. SLOWED DOWN AND I DID NOT HAVE ANY ENGINE BRAKING, FELT LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. ONCE STOPPED, VEHICLE COULD ONLY DRIVE IN FIRST GEAR, AT VERY SLOW SPEED AND IT COULD NOT HOLD A STEADY SPEED.

THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, PUT INTO PARK, THE KEY WAS REMOVED, THEN THE VEHICLE WAS LOCKED. UPON RETURNING TO THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE WAS UNLOCKED, THE TAILGATE WAS LOWERED AND WE PROCEEDED TO LOAD A BULKY 70 (I'M GUESSING) POUND OBJECT INTO THE BED OF THE TRUCK. AS WE PUSHED THE OBJECT INTO THE BED OF THE TRUCK THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL. IT WAS ROLLING MORE THAN JUST THE NORMAL FEW INCHES THAT A VEHICLE IN PARK CAN SOMETIMES ROLL. I JUMPED INTO THE DRIVERS SEAT (THE DOOR HAD BEEN LEFT AJAR) AND PRESSED THE BRAKE TO STOP THE TRUCK. THE KEYS WERE NOT IN THE IGNITION, THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. THE EXTRA PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT BEING USED. THE PARKING LOT WAS VERY LEVEL, THERE WAS NO SLOPE AT ALL. ONCE WE HAD THE OBJECT WE WERE LOADING SECURED WE PUSHED THE TRUCK AND IT WAS STILL ABLE TO BE MOVED. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT THE OBJECT THAT WE WERE LOADING WASN'T HEAVY, BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY EASY TO HAVE AN OBJECT DROP DOWN ONTO THE PERSON(S) LOADING. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO ANYONE, THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES DAMAGED. WE JUST FELT THAT THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE REPORTED. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING VEHICLE AND DASH STARTED FLASHING "HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE", "SERVICE ADVANCED TRAC" AND THE WRENCH ICON STARTED DISPLAYING ON CONSOLE. VEHICLE VIBRATED HEAVILY SLOWED DOWN IN A "CRIPPLE" MODE NO MATTER HOW HARD GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED. SHE PULLED OVER, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND WAITED 5+ MINUTES BEFORE RESTARTING. IT RE-STARTED WITH ENGINE LIGHT LIT. IN ORDER TO GET IT TO DEALER, SHE HAD TO DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 15 MILES. VEHICLE DROVE OK FOR A BIT AND THEN EXHIBITED SIMILAR BEHAVIOR 4 MORE TIMES, INCLUDING ONCE GOING UP THE CONEJO GRADE BETWEEN CAMARILLO AND NEWBURY PARK WHERE A BIG RIG HAD TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION TO AVOID HITTING HER WHEN THE FORD F150 SUDDENLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY SLOWED DOWN. HAD THE SEMI DRIVING NOT BEEN PAYING ATTENTION, HE COULD HAVE EASILY HIT HER. FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED AS BAD THROTTLE BODY ON 11/2/2020 SAME VEHICLE HAD EXHIBITED BRAKE LOSS DUE TO FAULTY MASTER CYLINDER (NOW A RECALL) IN AUGUST OF 2019.

MY 2015 HAD ROUGHLY 75,000 MILES WHEN A NOTICEABLE VIBRATION/RMUMBLE COULD BE FELT NOT ONLY BY THE DRIVER AT THE WHEEL BUT IN ALL PASSENGER SEATS OF A F-150 SUPER CREW. THE SPEED WAS IRRELEVANT,AND ON HIGHWAY OR IN CITY, THE VIBRATION WAS NOTABLY APPROXIMATE IN TIME BWTWEEN VIBRATION AND DURATION. UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY MY FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND THE VEHICLE IS NOW IN FOR REPAIR WHILE I HAVE A FORD LOANDER. WE WILL SEE IF THIS FIXES THE PROBLEM TODAY IS 6 OCT 2020.

WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH (6TH GEAR), VEHICLE SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED TO 1ST GEAR. THE ENGINE'S RPMS REVVED AS THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE HARD, RESULTING IN THE PASSENGERS EXPERIENCING A SUDDEN JERK OF THEIR NECK AND BODY. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD NO RESPONSE. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS I REGAINED RESPONSE FROM THE ACCELERATOR AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO UPSHIFT. A FEW MOMENTS LATER, THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE REPEATED WITH THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTING TO 1ST. THIS REPEATED A THIRD TIME. THE INCIDENT CAUSED SEVERAL NEAR-MISSES AS WE LOST POWER AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND BEGAN A RAPID DECELERATION WITHOUT NOTICE.

ON JULY 24, 2020 WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 291 DRIVING 45-50MPH WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC, WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSION. I THOUGHT I WAS REAR ENDED. SIMULTANEOUSLY THE REAR TIRES LOCKED UP WHILE APPROACHING A WORK ZONE. I SKIDDED UNCONTROLLABLY FOR APPROXIMATELY 100 FEET. ULTIMATELY CAME TO REST ON THE SHOULDER. AS MY FAMILY AND I EXITED THE VEHICLE THERE WAS HEAVY SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR AND UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WE THOUGHT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE STATE POLICE ARRIVED ON THE SCENE WITHIN 5 MINUTES UPON US EXITING THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR SO THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE FLAT BEDDED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP, MARCOTTE FORD, HOLYOKE MA. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THE REAR END FAILED AND LOCKED UP. UPON THEIR TEST DRIVE I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A TOTAL FAILURE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THEY SAID THEY HAD TO WAIT FOR A DECISION FROM FORD TO EITHER REBUILD OR REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. AUGUST 19, 2020 I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT AND THAT I COULD PICK UP THE VEHICLE. I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY PRIOR PHONE CALLS FROM THEM TO INFORM ME OF WHAT WAS GOING TO BE DONE TO CORRECT THE SITUATION. .

8/5/2016 THE VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY TAKEN IN FOR A LOUD GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE DRIVE TRAIN. THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT AND THE DEALER SAID THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM AND REFLASHED THE COMPUTER. THE VEHICLE WAS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND IT OCCURRED WHEN IT WAS HUNTING FOR GEARS AS I PASSED SOMEONE. 5/22/2017 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A GRIND NOISE COMING FROM THE DRIVETRAIN. I TOLD THE DEALER IT SOUNDED LIKE CARDS IN THE SPOKES OF A BICYCLE. THEY TRIED TO REFLASH THE COMPUTER AND THE TRUCK MADE THE SAME NOISE AS SOON AS I DROVE AWAY FROM THEIR LOT. I TOOK IT RIGHT BACK AND TOLD THEM THAT IT WAS NOT FIXED AND I WANTED THEM TO KEEP IT UNTIL IT WAS FIXED. THE VEHICLE WAS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND IT OCCURRED WHEN IT WAS HUNTING FOR GEARS AS I PASSED SOMEONE. I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS LATER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ENTIRE OVERDRIVE UNIT IN THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REBUILT. THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 20,067 MILES AT THIS POINT. 9/23/2019 I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM THAT THE NOISE HAD RETURNED AT THAT THIS WOULD MAKE THE FOURTH TIME IT NEEDED TO BE ADDRESSED. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY COVERED ANY REPAIRS FOR THIS UP TILL 60,000 MILES. I WILL SCHEDULE A TIME TO DROP THE TRUCK FOR A CHECK AS SOON AS I CAN. THE TRUCK HAS 52,622.3 MILES AS OF 10/31/2019. THE TRUCK ONLY MAKES THE NOISE AT ODD INTERVALS WHEN IT IS BETWEEN GEARS OR PASSING SOMEONE.

ON THE DISPLAY TRAC STABILITY CAME ON THEN CYCLED THRU HILL ASSIST AND SEVERAL OTHERS. I DRIFTED OF THE ROAD JUST PAST A EXIT. THE ENGINE FELT LIKE IT WAS MISSING TERRIBLY AS IT CYCLING THRU THESE ERRORS. I SHUT IT DOWN AND RESTARTED IT SEEMED OK, BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STILL ON, WHEN I TRIED TO MOVE IT STARTED TO SHAKE AND CYCLE ERRORS AGAIN. I SHUT IT DOWN AGAIN AND RESTARTED THIS TIME IT WAS RUNNING OK. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND WE DROVE WITH THECHECK EGINE LIGHT FOR APPROXIMATELY 400 MILES STOPPING AND SHUTING OFF ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES.LIGHT STILL ON. STOPPED FOR 1 HOUR TO EAT WHEN RESTARTING NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND HAS BEEN WORKING AS NORMAL TODAY.

I AM GETTING A VIBRATION FROM WHAT APPEARS TO BE MY DRIVE AXLE. IT IS MOST PROMINENT WHEN LETTING OFF THE THROTTLE AND COASTING FROM 75 MPH TO 50 MPH. IN EARLY SEPTEMBER OF 2019, I WAS DRIVING MY 2015 FORD F-150 ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65 MPH. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST ALL POWER AS THE DASHBOARD LITE UP WITH SOME KIND OF TRACTION WARNING. I DRIFTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PUT IT IN PARKED. THE WHOLE VEHICLE SHOOK SIGNIFICANTLY AT THIS POINT. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAITED ABOUT 2MINUTES. I STARTED THE TRUCK UP AND WENT ON MY WAY WITH NO PROBLEM. (NOTE: THIS INCIDENT WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS I WAS ON A MAJOR ROADWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. MY 10 AND 8 YEAR OLD GRANDCHILDREN WERE IN THE BACK SEAT). A FEW WEEKS AND A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES LATER, I WAS ON A NARROW MOUNTAIN ROAD GOING ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALER AFTER BOTH OCCURRENCES, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT, AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I'M RELUCTANT TO DRIVE IT AS THIS SITUATION COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IT ONLY HAS 42,000 MILES ON IT AND I USE IT TO TOW MY TRAVEL TRAILER. I WAS NOT TOWING THE TRAILER WHEN THESE INCIDENTS OCCURRED. I SAW ON YOUR WEB SITE THAT SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE FORD F-150. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO ABOUT THIS? NOTE THAT I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW IN 2015 FROM THE SAME DEALER THAT I TOOK IT TO FOR SERVICE. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).' *PM

THE TRANSMISSION DROPS OUT OF GEAR AND CANNOT BE REENGAGED UNTIL VEHICLE IS STOPPED SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. PROBLEM HAS INCREASINGLY GOTTEN WORSE FROM A MILD FAIL TO ENGAGE AFTER A THREE POINT TURN AROUND TO CURRENT CONDITION. LAST MOST DRAMATIC EVENT OCCURRED YESTERDAY WHILE ON I-75 NEAR LEXINGTON, PULLING A TRAVEL TRAILER WHEN IT DROPPED OUT OF SIXTH GEAR IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE WITH A TRACTOR TRAILER BEHIND THE TRUCK. VEHICLE WENT TO IDLE, WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED. THERE WAS NO THROTTLE RESPONSE AND TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT REENGAGE. HAD TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT VEHICLE DOWN. UPON RESTARTING TRANSMISSION WORKED NORMALLY UNTIL REACHED DESTINATION. TWO FORD DEALERSHIPS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THIS PROBLEM. ONLY ONE ERROR CODE HAS APPEARED, P0731. TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS ADDED AND CODE WAS CLEARED. PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. OTHER DEALERSHIP COULD NOT REPLICATE PROBLEM WITH NO CODES PRESENT. WHILE IN MOTION, AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON A HIGHWAY AND SOMETIMES SLOWER SPEEDS ON TOWN STREETS TOO, MY TRUCK WOULD SUDDENLY START FLASHING MULTIPLE ERRORS AND THE THROTTLE WOULD IMMEDIATELY BE UNRESPONSIVE. IN 1 SECOND I WAS DEAD IN THE WATER. THE TRUCK WOULD IMMEDIATELY START SLOWING DOWN DUE TO LACK OF PROPULSION AND THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE A VERY LOW ROUGH IDLE. THE THROTTLE WOULD NOT WORK AT ANY SPEED. THE ONLY WAY TO RECOVER CONTROL OF PROPULSION WAS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP RIGHT WHERE THE PROBLEM OCCURRED (VERY DANGEROUS), TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND THEN RESTART THE VEHICLE. AFTER RESTART THE PROBLEM WOULD COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR. UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS PROBLEM APPEARED 3 TIMES IN 1 WEEK, ALL WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING UPHILL. I WAS LUCKY TO NOT BE IN TRAFFIC AT THE TIME. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPORTED THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE BODY, AND THAT THIS ISSUE WAS COMMON AND THAT A RECALL WAS NOT IN PLACE. THE REPAIR COST IS OVER $500.

MY 2015 3.5 F150 HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING SUDDEN DOWNSHIFTING AT RANDOM TIMES. TYPICALLY, IT HAPPENS ONCE EVERY HUNDRED MILES OR SO AND TAKES THE GEARS FROM 5 OR 6 ALL THE WAY TO 1 OR 2 GEAR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT IS SCARY ESPECIALLY SINCE WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PULLING A CAMPER ACROSS THE WEST FOR A FEW MONTHS. FIRST THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE SO I REPLACED THAT. NOW THEY ARE SAYING THAT IT IS SPARK PLUGS. APPARENTLY, FOUR OUT OF SIX MISFIRE AT THE SAME TIME RANDOMLY WHICH THEY SAID WOULD CAUSE THE DOWNSHIFT. HOWEVER, I JUST HAD THEM REPLACED WITH NEW BOOTS THREE MONTHS AGO. THE ISSUE DID START AFTER A DEALER TRANSFLUSH BUT I DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS A COINCIDENCE OR NOT.

THE DRIVER NOTIFICATION PANEL DISPLAYED "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE ENGINE," AND DISPLAYED AN THE AIRBAG SYMBOL. VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY LOST THE ABILITY TO MAINTAIN SPEED OR ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE REMAINED ON WITH POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. AFTER MANEUVERING OUT OF A TRAVEL LANE ONTO THE SHOULD, THE VEHICLE SHUTTERED AT LOW SPEEDS UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURN-OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE NOTIFICATION WERE REMOVED AND HAD NO ISSUES AT THAT TIME. AFTER NEARLY 1000 MORE MILES OF DRIVING, THE VEHICLE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65MPH ON A HIGHWAY. THE SAME SYMPTOMS WERE DEMONSTRATED. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE FROM THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE DROVE WITH NO ISSUES. FORD DEALERSHIP IN SEASIDE CALIFORNIA ADVISED THAT IT WAS A FAULTY ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH MANY OTHER FORD VEHICLES!!! FIX IT BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR DIES AS A RESULT! AT TIMES MY 2015 F150 LOSES ALL POWER AND GO TO A LOW POWER/ "LIMP MODE" SETTING. CAUTIONS RECEIVED ARE (1) SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC, (2) HILL DESCENT CONTROL FAULT, (3) HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAIL, (4) TRAACTION CONTROL FAULT LIGHT. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE VEHICLE GOES TO A VERY LOW FORWARD POWER SETTING (<5MPH), RUNS EXTREMELY ROUGH TO THE POINT WHERE THE VEHICLE SHAKES AGGRESSIVELY. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT IN NATURE, AND YESTERDAY WAS THE FINAL STRAW. THIS SUDDENT OSS OF POWER OCCURRED ON A BUSY ROAD AND I NEARLY GOT REAR ENDED. I IMMEDIATELY LIMPED OFF THE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP IN CASTLE ROCK, CO. CURRENTLY I'M STANDING BY FOR THE MECHANICS DIAGNOSIS. OF NOTE, I DO SEE SEVERAL SIMILAR WRITE-UPS OF THIS PROBLEM ON THE NHTSA SITE REGARDING THE 2015 F150. IRONICALLY, A SIMILAR OCCURRENCE (REF. NHSTSA ID#11083485) HAPPENED RIGHT UP THE ROAD FROM ME IN CASTLE ROCK, CO (4/5/18). I HOPE FORD IS AWARE OF THIS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, RECURRING PROBLEM WITHIN ITS F150 FLEET.

TRUCK STALLS DUE TO THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR STICKING. VEHICLE BECOMES DISABLED/STALLED AND APPLIES THE BRAKES. OCCURS WITHOUT NOTICE AT ANY SPEED. OCCURS ON HIGHWAY, CITY STREETS, AND DIRT ROADS. REQUIRES THROTTLE BODY REPLACEMENT. SIMILAR RECALLS DID OCCUR FOR THE FORD THROTTLE BODY FOR OTHER MODELS AND YEARS (E.G. 13N03 PROGRAM). DEALER INDICATES IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY (ALTHOUGH IT SHOULD BE) AND COSTS $600 TO REPLACE.

VEHICLE LOST POWER AND FLASHED 3 WARNING MESSAGES. 1) HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE. 2) SEE MANUAL. 3) SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC. IN ADDITION THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN IN TRAFFIC ALMOST CAUSING A COLLISION. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. AFTER FIRST TIME DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPORTED NO PROBLEMS FOUND. APPOINTMENT CURRENTLY SCHEDULED TO LOOK AT IT AGAIN.
Mileage: 32,804
THIS ISSUE HAS NOW HAPPENED 6 TIMES WITHOUT SHOWING A PATTERN. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOSES ALL THROTTLE POWER AND THE MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAYS 'SERVICE ADVANCETRAC' 'HILL START ASSIST DISABLED' AND THE ABS AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON BACK ROADS AT SLOWER SPEEDS AND ON HIGHWAYS AT 70 MPH. AGAIN, ALL THROTTLE POWER IS LOST. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED ON NUMEROUS FORUMS AND THERE HAVE BEEN 2 CONSENSUS FIXES, REPLACE THROTTLE BODY AND AN APPARENT ISSUE WITH THE TIGHTNESS OF A THROTTLE CABLE.

THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL NEEDS TO BE REBUILT. POSSIBLE FAILURE DUE TO FAILED BEARING SEALS. CAUSING NOISE THAT WILL LEAD TO BEARING, AXLE FAILURE. WHEN I DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM EVERYONE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. I ASKED IF IT WAS A RECALL THEY SAID NO. IT REALLY NEEDED TO BE FIXED AND WOULD BE AROUND $1000.00.. I WAS VERY SURPRISED THEY "EVERYONE" KNEW EXCEPT FOR ME!! SEEMS LIKE IF IT IS "MOST" OR "ALL" THEN FORD TO TELL CUSTOMERS. FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILS AT 55 MPH THAT IS GOING TO BE A BIG PROBLEM FOR SOMEONE!!
Mileage: 67,000
WHILE DRIVING AS YOU TRY TO MAINTAIN SPEED AT A LOWER RPM THE TRANS FEELS LIKE SHAKING OR MAKES A NOISE OF RATTLING, AND ALSO HARD DOWN SHIFTS FROM 5TH TO 4TH TO 3RD GEAR, I HAVE IT LOOKED AT AT 2 DEALERSHIPS AND ONE SAID NOTHING WRONG AND THE SECOND ONE SAID THE RATTLING NOISE WAS THE SKID GUARD WASN'T TIGHT ENOUGH SUPPOSEDLY THEY DID TIGHT IT BUT NOISE IS STILL THERE

WHILE TRAVELING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT 60 MPH (POSTED HIGHWAY PEED LIMIT) THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DOWN-SHIFTED TO A MUCH LOWER GEAR (1ST OR 2ND?), CAUSING ENGINE RPMS TO DRAMATICALLY INCREASE. I RESPONDED TO THE UNINTENDED CONDITION BY TAKING SUDDEN DRAMATIC BRAKING ACTION. THIS RESOLVED THIS INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE IS 2 YEARS, 3 MONTHS OLD WITH SLIGHTLY OVER 22,000 MILES, AND IS SCHEDULED FOR THE DEALER TO CONDUCT A "TRANSMISSION CODE REVIEW" ON 01/10/18.
Mileage: 22,200
MY TRUCK ODOMETER SHOWS I HAVE 26582 MILES ON THE TRUCK. AND THE ENGINE HOURS SHOWS I HAVE 867 HOURS. HOWEVER RUSTY WALLACE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID I HAVE 63000 MILES ACCORDING TO THE PCM!!! I HAVE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO FIX THE TRUCK UNDER WARRANTY. I CONTENT THAT THE TRUCK IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY I HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING TO THE ODOMETER. I HAVE PICTURES THAT SHOW I WAS DOING 72 MILES A HOUR AND ON THE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER BUT THE OTHER SPEEDOMETER SHOWED I WAS DOING 90 MILES A HOUR. I PARKED THE TRUCK AND IT STILLED SHOWED I WAS DOING 20 MPH. I HAVE ATTACHED THE PHOTOS.

I WOULD LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT SAFETY CONCERN ON FORD F-150 INTAKE THROTTLE FAILURES. I BELIEVE THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PART FOR A DIFFERENT S/N RANGE OF FORD F-150. THIS VIN WAS NOT IN THE LIST. WHEN THIS FAILS, YOU LOSE ALL POWER AND TRUCK GOES INTO NEUTRAL. WAS TOWING LOADED TRAILER IN 4 LANES OF HIGH SPEED INTERSTATE CITY DRIVING. ALMOST WAS IN SERIOUS ACCIDENT. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DID NOTHING OR INDICATE THAT THEY WERE GOING TO LOOK AT S/N RANGE IMPACTED. I AM A CHIEF ENGINEER AT CATERPILLAR. I UNDERSTAND THE BUSINESS OF EFFECTIVE S/N AND WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MANDATORY RECALLS. THEIR LACK OF ACTION IS A CONCERN.
Mileage: 57,000
DURING THE "VERY RANDOM" PROCESS OF SHIFTING THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, FROM ANY GEAR TO ANY GEAR, THE GEAR DOES NOT ENGAGE AND APPEARS TO BE IN NEUTRAL THEN THE ENGINE REVS TO THE HIGHEST RPM UNTIL I PRESS THE BRAKE AND PUT INTO GEAR A SECOND TIME. THIS HAPPENS BOTH WHILE THE TRUCK IS IN MOTION AND WHEN AT A STOP SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 20 TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE TRUCK. WHEN THIS OCCURS IT IS UNPREDICTABLE. IT HAPPENS BOTH WHEN I AM HAULING A TRAILER AND WHEN I AM NOT. I HAUL A SMALL TWO HORSE TRAILER WEEKLY AND THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE DRIVING DOWN A STEEP HILL AND I DOWNSHIFTED. THE TRUCK DID NOT FEEL LIKE IT WAS UNDER MY CONTROL. I PANIC EVER TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AND THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE PROGRESSING WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH OR IN REVERSE. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION JERKED IN AND OUT OF GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED MORE THAN ONCE AND WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED FIVE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS FOR THE POWER TRAIN. THE DEALER (WINNER FORD, 250 HADDONFIELD-BERLIN RD, CHERRY HILL, NJ 08034, (856) 428-4000) INDICATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE A REMEDY PERTAINING TO THAT INFORMATION. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT HAD A WARRANTY AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS 14 DAYS OUTSIDE OF THE WINDOW TO RECEIVE WARRANTY SERVICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED AND THEN SLAMMED INTO GEAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND HAD HAPPENED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOWN AND COUNTRY FORD (101 ANDERSON LN, MADISON, TN 37115 (615) 865-1280) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LEAD FRAME CONNECTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAULING A TRAILER AT A HIGHWAY RATE OF SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE SLOWLY APPLIED DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION BEING SLOW TO CHANGE OVER; THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE AND A HARD DOWNSHIFT THAT CONTINUED TO PROGRESS. A DEALER (RAPID FORD, 1510 S POKEGAMA AVE, GRAND RAPIDS, MN 55744, (218) 326-0551) WAS NOTIFIED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED TO DETERMINE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY HAD NO RECALL AND NO RECOMMENDED SOLUTION. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THIS TOOK 4 ATTEMPTS AND 2 DEALERS TO RESOLVE - ~34K MILES- LOUD GRINDING/VIBRATION FROM FRONT LEFT 4X4 HUB WHEN DRIVING ANY SPEED. THE FIRST DEALER HAD THE TRUCK FOR 6 DAYS AND CLAIMED THEY DIDN'T SEE OR HEAR THE PROBLEM. THE SECOND TRIP TO THE DEALER THEY HAD FOR A FEW MORE DAYS AND SAID THEY FIXED IT. ON THE WAY HOME IT WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT FIXED AND I TURNED AROUND AND TOOK IT BACK. AGAIN AFTER TWO DAYS THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED YET IT WAS NOT. I THEN TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER AND THEY KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND FIXED IT. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THE SERVICE LOG DIDN'T SHOW ANY SERVICE ATTEMPTS TO THE TRUCK SO MY TRUCK SAT FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS AND NO WORK WAS ACTUALLY DONE AND I WAS LIED TO. SECOND ISSUE - NOT RESOLVED. LIFE OF VEHICLE - WOBBLE/VIBRATION FROM 4X4 TRANSFER CASE THAT INTENSIFIES WITH INCREASED SPEED. DRIVING IN 4X4 LOW AT ALL SPEEDS YOU CAN FEEL AND SEE THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKE, EVEN GOING AS SLOW AS 10MPH. THE STEERING WHEEL, SEATS AND PEDDLES SHAKE AS IF THE TIRES AREN'T BALANCED. I HAVE INSTALLED 3 DIFFERENT SETS OF TIRES AND IT STILL SHAKES. 2 DIFFERENT TIRE SHOPS VERIFIED THE TIRES ARE GOOD AND THE ALIGNMENT WAS GOOD. THE SHAKING ISN'T BAD LIKE THE DEATH WOBBLE BUT DOESN'T FEEL SAFE. IT SHAKES ENOUGH THAT MY 3 YEAR OLD GETS SICK TO HER STOMACH FROM THE BOUNCING. THIRD ISSUE - RESOLVED WITH MY MONEY - AT ABOUT 45K MILES THE FACTORY FRONT ROTORS WERE WORN TO THE POINT OF REPLACEMENT DUE TO DEEP CUTS. THIS OCCURRED WITH THE FACTORY BRAKE PADS.
VIN: [XXX] MAKE: FORD F150 2015 ON THE MORNING OF JUNE 20TH 2017, I WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT JOURNALING AND LISTING TO MUSIC. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND RUNNING BECAUSE I WAS LISTENING TO THE RADIO AND ENJOYING THE AIR CONDITIONER. MY HUSBAND HAD DRIVEN THE VEHICLE AND PARKED IT. HE HAD EXITED THE VEHICLE AND WENT UP TO HIS APPOINTMENT AND I WAS IN THE VEHICLE, IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, JOURNALING FOR AT LEAST TEN MINUTES OR MORE. I NEEDED TO USE THE RESTROOM SO I PUT MY STUFF IN THE BAG AT MY FEET, ON THE FLOOR BOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I REACHED OVER, GRIPPED THE KEY, TURNED IT TO THE OFF POSITION, REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, THE TRUCK WAS FULLY OFF. I BEGAN OPENING THE PASSENGER DOOR TO EXIT THE VEHICLE AND REALIZED THE VEHICLE WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS. I SLAMMED MY DOOR, TRIED TO USE THE SHIFTER BUT IT DID NOT MOVE. I WAS STEERING THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT KNOWING THERE WERE VEHICLES PARKED BEHIND ME. I THREW THE KEY IN PUT IT IN DRIVE AND HIT THE BRAKE, BUT IT WAS TO LATE AND I HAD HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. I WAS LUCKY NOBODY WAS IN THE OTHER VEHICLE OR BEHIND MY VEHICLE. SOMEBODY COULD HAVE BEEN HURT OR KILLED. I PULLED THE TRUCK FORWARDS, I PARKED AND HANDLED WHAT HAD JUST OCCURRED. I DON?T KNOW WHAT TO DO. WE NO LONGER FEEL OUR VEHICLE IS SAFE WHEN IN PARK. I KNOW THE 2017 MODELS ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM, IF FORD STILL CANT FIX THIS PROBLEM TWO YEARS LATER, WHY WOULD I FEEL OUR VEHICLE IS SAFE OR TRUST THAT IT DOES NOT HAVE A DEFECT THAT NEEDS FIXING?????? PLEASE HELP! THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. WE JUST WANT TO ENSURE OUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF USE AN INTERMITTENT (FEW DAYS A WEEK) VIBRATION + HUMMING / GRINDING TYPE NOISE WAS PRESENT WHEN TURNING (LEFT AND RIGHT) AT LOW SPEEDS (<25MPH). THE VIBRATION SOMETIMES CYCLIC, FELT IN STEERING WHEEL, AND IS AUDIBLE FROM PASSENGER SEAT. THE VIBRATION IS DISTRACTING AND OFTEN OCCURS WHEN SLOWING DOWN AT STOPLIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS. THE NOISE & VIBRATION, HOWEVER, REMAIN WHEN THE BRAKES ARE NOT ENGAGED. THE NOISE & VIBRATION EXIST WHILE IN 4X4 AS WELL AS 4X2 AND 4A. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN VERIFIED MULTIPLE TIMES BY SERVICE STAFF AT 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE MULTIPLE TIMES (3 PRIOR) AND PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TO ATTEMPT TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE (FRONT IWE ASSEMBLIES WHICH WERE FOUND TO HAVE PARTIAL LEAK, FRONT LEFT HUB ASSEMBLY FOUND TO HAVE RESISTANCE / GRINDING WAS REPLACED). SOUND / VIBRATION REMAINED AFTER SERVICE. VEHICLE CURRENTLY IN FOR SERVICE 4TH TIME AT DEALERSHIP TO ADDRESS ISSUE AGAIN (33 DAYS+ AND COUNTING). NO RESOLUTION YET.
WHEN MOVING IN REVERSE OR DRIVE, FROM A STOP, THE REAR END MAKES A LOUD POPPING SOUND. (THOUGHT MY SPARE TIRE HAD COME LOOSE. VERIFIED THAT WAS NOT THE CASE) WHILE DRIVING ON A ROADWAY AND TURNING CORNERS, YOU CAN FEEL THE REAR END SWAY AS IF THE AXLE SHAFTS ARE TOO LONG WHICH CAUSES THE REAR END TO FEEL LOOSE. EFFECTS DRIVEABILITY.

DRIVING THE FORD F150 (V6 ECOBOOST) ON A CITY STREET (35 MPH) IT HAS FAILED AT RANDOM TIMES (I'VE NOW SEEN THIS ISSUE MORE THAN 3 TIMES) USUALLY WITH 3 MAJOR FAILURES. THESE 3 FAILURES (1) ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, AND EMISSIONS 2) BRAKES & SUSPENSION 3) RESTRATINS & DRIVER ASSISTANCE) CAUSE THE TRUCK TO TRANSITION TO 'LIMP' MODE WHICH CAN ACTUALLY BE JUST AS HAZARDOUS. IF I'M TURNING ONTO A ROAD WITH A 55+ MPH SPEED LIMIT I NEED TO ACCELERATE BUT IF THIS SYSTEM FAILS, ALONG WITH THE RESTRAINTS & DRIVER ASSISTANCE, THIS COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS AND LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. THE REASON WHY IS THAT THE RESTRAINTS & DRIVER ASSISTANCE GOES OFF NOW DISABLING MY AIRBAGS, ETC. AND IF I NOW GET HIT (BECAUSE NOW I'M IN LIMP MODE GOING ABOUT 7 MPH) I HAVE LOST A GREAT DEAL OF 'BUILT-IN' PROTECTION WITHOUT THE AIRBAGS. TRANSLATE THAT TO DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND ENCOUNTERING THIS SITUATION AND YOU CAN SEE THAT LOSS OF LIFE IS NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION. I'VE TAKEN THE TRUCK BACK TO FORD FOR THE WARRANTY WORK AND THEY SAY THEY BELIEVE IT'S AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY CONTROLLER THAT HAS GONE BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BUT RIGHT NOW IT'S AT LEAST 3 WEEKS BEFORE THEY CAN GET A REPLACEMENT PART. COMPOUNDING THIS ISSUE IS THAT FORD HAD ISSUED AN INTERNAL RECALL FOR V8'S BUILT AT THE SAME PLANT AS MY V6 ECOBOOST TRUCK FOR THE SAME TYPE OF ISSUE.

SINCE BUYING MY TRUCK BRAND NEW AROUND A YEAR AGO,I HAVE HAD CONSISTENT PROBLEMS WITH MY TRANSMISSION. MOST OF THE TIME, IN THE "DRIVE" OPTION, THE TRANSMISSION JERKS JOLTS WHILE CHANGING GEARS. IT IS VERY LOUD, AND MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE SOMETHING BAD JUST HAPPENED. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS INTO FIRST GEAR WHILE THE TRUCK IS STILL MOVING IN MANUAL MODE. IT DOES IT ALMOST EVERY TIME AROUND 7-9 MILES PER HOUR. IT HAPPENS SO VIOLENTLY, IT SLAMS EVERYONE IN THE VEHICLE FORWARD. I REPORTED IN TO JOHNSON CITY FORD IN JOHNSON CITY, T.N. I THINK THIS PROBLEM IS AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY AND MECHANICAL PROBLEM FOR MY FAMILY. I ALSO BELIEVE IT IS DOING PERMANENT DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR LATER DOWN THE ROAD. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *TR

THE POWERTRAIN HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING 3 TIMES, STRANDING ME, AND MY FAMILY IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF, AND ON, SEVERAL TIMES, I WAS ABLE TO ENGAGE DRIVE, AND MOVE THE TRUCK OUT OF TRAFFIC. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN REPAIRED 3 TIMES FOR THE SAME DEFECT, BUT FORD REFUSES TO REPURCHASE/REPLACE THE VEHICLE. NO ONE IN MY FAMILY IS COMFORTABLE RIDING IN, OR DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. 1ST TIME: WHILE ATTEMPTING TO BACK INTO MY DRIVE WAY, REVERSE COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING, STRANDING ME PERPENDICULAR TO TRAFFIC, IN THE ROAD. 2ND TIME: WITH ANOTHER ADULT, AND 3 CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE, I WAS DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION IN ATLANTA, AND THE RPM'S WENT TO 5000, WITH NO MOVEMENT. WE WERE COMPLETELY STUCK IN THE DEAD CENTER OF AN EXTREMELY BUSY INTERSECTION, UNABLE TO DRIVE FORWARD, OR BACKWARD. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF TURNING IT ON, AND OFF, I WAS ABLE TO MOVE FROM THE INTERSECTION, IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. 3RD TIME: WHILE DRIVING IN STOP, AND GO TRAFFIC, IN ATLANTA, I WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN, WHEN THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS BEFORE HAPPENED. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE FORWARD, OR BACKWARD, UNTIL A FEW CYCLES OF TURNING THE CAR ON, AND OFF. I HAVE WRITTEN E-MAILS TO THE CEO, MANAGING DIRECTOR, AND CUSTOMER RELATIONS OF FORD MOTOR CO., ONLY TO BE HANDED OFF TO A REGIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON. THEIR ANSWER IS THAT THEY WILL STAND BEHIND THEIR WARRANTY, AND CONTINUE TO FIX THE VEHICLE. I HAVE ALL THE REPAIR FILES, E-MAILS SENT TO ALL INVOLVED, AND PHONE RECORDS OF THE MANY TIMES I HAVE HAD TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP, AND FORD'S CUSTOMER RELATIONS MANAGER. TOO MANY TO BEGIN ANY UPLOAD.

TRUCK SHUDDERS AS TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ATTEMPTS TO LOCK UP IN THIRD AND FIFTH GEAR AT LIGHT THROTTLE POSITION WHEN SHIFTING UPWARD. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE 2.7L ENGINE WITH THE AUTO STOP/START FEATURE. WITH THIS FEATURE DISABLED THE ENGINE ATTEMPTS TO STALL AFTER STOPPING AS IF THE FEATURE IS TRYING TO OVERRIDE THE OFF SWITCH. AFTER COMING TO A ROLLING STOP AND THEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC THE ENGINE WILL BOG DOWN AND THEN A SPLIT SECOND LATER FEEL AS IF IT IS GOING TO FULL THROTTLE WITHOUT ME DEPRESSING THE THROTTLE FURTHER. THE ENGINE SPEED SURGES WHEN ATTEMPTING TO LIGHTLY ACCELERATE AND MAINTAIN SPEED WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. -FORD NEEDS TO GIVE OWNERS THE OPTION TO TURN OFF THE AUTO STOP/START PERMANENTLY. I WAS NOT INFORMED THIS FEATURE COULD NOT BE REMOVED WHEN I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO SHUT IT OFF AND ONLY SUCCEEDED IN DISABLING THE REMOTE START FEATURE. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH THE AUTO STOP/START ANNOYANCE.

NEW 2015 F150 WITH A VIBRATION/ SHUDDER COMING FROM WHAT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSFER CASE OR POSSIBLY THE DRIVE SHAFT. HAPPENS WHEN TRYING TO SHIFT FROM GEAR TO GEAR, AND ON INCLINES...FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL. ALSO HAPPENS WHEN JUST CRUISING AT CERTAIN SPEEDS. I'VE HAD IT TO THE DEALER TWICE AND THEY SAY EVERYTHING IS FINE BUT THEY HAVE FELT THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND ONES ON THEIR LOT. VIBRATION COULD LEAD TO MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM AND ACTUALLY STALL THE VEHICLE WHILE IN TRAFFIC.
2015 FORD F-150. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIRBAG PROBLEMS, IGNITION PROBLEMS AND VEHICLE TIRES ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE A/C BLEW OUT HOT AIR, THE TRANSMISSION WAS JERKY WHEN HE APPLIED THE BRAKE, THEN THE ACCELERATOR. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS FIRST STARTED, THERE WAS A LOUD GRINDING/GROWLING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE BY THE DRIVER FRONT WHEEL, THERE WAS EXCESSIVE CABIN NOISE, AND TIRE NOISE. THE ELECTRIC ENGINE FAN CAME ON WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING OUTSIDE IN THE HEAT, THE UNDERCARRIAGE WAS SHOWING SIGNS OF CORROSION. WATER WAS LEAKING THROUGH THE DRIVER ASSIST HANDLE GRIP NEAR THE WINDSHIELD. *JB
I HAVE BEEN HAVING AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH MY TRANSMISSION, WHERE IT SHIFTS ROUGH OR DOES NOT SHIFT APPROPRIATELY. WHEN THE TRUCK SHIFTS ROUGH, I BARELY HAVE MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR, WHERE IT WILL SLAM INTO GEAR CAUSING THE TRUCK TO JOLT. I ALSO HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE TRUCK FAILING TO DOWNSHIFT OUT OF 4TH GEAR WHILE GOING UPHILLS. WHILE GOING UPHILLS, THE RPMS WILL GO BELOW 1000, WHERE THE TRUCK WILL BEGIN TO SHUTTER AS IF IT IS GOING TO STALL. YOU ARE FORCED TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR IN ORDER FOR IT TO SHIFT, WHERE THE RPMS/TURBO BOOSTER WILL SOAR. I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS CONCERN, WHERE THEY PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND IT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. I FEEL THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING ROUGH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, IF THE ENGINE IN FACT STALLS AND YOU LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I ALSO FEEL BEING FORCED TO ACCELERATE COULD CAUSE YOU TO STRIKE THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF YOU OR LOSE CONTROL IT THIS OCCURS WHILE NEGOTIATING A TURN ETC. THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF ALLOWS WATER TO PASS THE RUBBER SEAL AND DRAIN INTO THE WATER TRACK. I FREQUENTLY HAVE HAD THE WINDOWS FOG UP FROM MOISTURE INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND THE ODOR OF MOLD. IF YOU GOOGLE "2015 FORD F-150 SUNROOF LEAKS", YOU WILL FIND 1000'S OF CONCERNED FORD OWNERS ON FORUMS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES, WHERE FORD STATES IT IS NORMAL FOR THE SUNROOF TO LEAK PAST THE SEAL. I FEEL THE SUNROOF IS A HEALTH CONCERN, AS I BELIEVE MOLD MAY BE GROWING IN THE TRUCK AND IS BEING BREATHED IN. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THE SEAT BACK GETTING EXTREMELY HOT WHILE USING THE "COOLED SEAT" FEATURE. I FEEL THIS COULD CAUSE A BURN OR FIRE HAZARD.
