The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle suddenly shifted into neutral(N) as indicated by the gear shift indicator. After which, the contact smelled a burning odor inside the vehicle, prompting the contact to turn off the vehicle. After the contact restarted the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by the dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
Both turbos, spark plugs, catalytic converters, O2 sensors. If turbos blow up while drive it will shoot vanes in the motor. Yes JD automotive replaced all the above mentioned parts. will include copy of the invoice, not the only ford owner that has had issues out of the ford twin turbos failing. not sure if dealer inspected turbos, but they replaced the spark plugs 3x in less then 3 months (lemon) and the throttle bottle. Didnt share this information with me when vehicle was purchased. Issue started with a P0430 codes which falsely say its a cat code. I used cataclean due to the low miles and would still get code every once in while. less the 2 years from purchasing it used had both turbos fail. not sure if it was a mis diagnosis from mclarty daniel in Bentonville Arkansas or if ford knowing made motors with bad turbos.
Both left and right exhaust manifolds have broken studs that have resulted in exhaust leaks from both manifolds. The broken studs can be seen via a visual inspection. Exhaust leaks can be heard at engine start and during higher load operations. This failure is allowing hot exhaust gas to leak into the engine compartment creating an engine fire risk as well as compromising engine performance. The local Ford dealer confirmed the broken studs and exhaust manifold leaks. The failure was noted during a 100,000 mile service but the symptoms began to be noted at about 60,000 to 70,000 miles.
I was driving my 2016 Ford f150 in Ventura California on August 29th 2025 when my throttle began to accelerate on its own after taking my foot off the gas pedal. My truck sped up out of control, I almost lost control of the vehicle and crashed. Luckily I was able to gain control and get it into neutral and then into park. My trucks rpms raced so high it sounded as if the engine was going to explode. I put it into park and the rpms lowered to a normal level. While this was all happening a wrench icon popped up on my dash. Once the wrench icon came on I noticed my dash wasn’t telling me what gear I was in or if I was in park, neutral or drive. I pulled into the closest parking lot. I put it in park and every time I gave the truck gas the throttle would continue to accelerate on its own and would rev extremely high on its own. I also noticed as I was sitting it the parking lot at idol there is now a thumping sound/ jolt when selecting what gear to go into. I don’t know if this was caused from having to slam the car into neutral and then into park so I wouldn’t crash when the throttle accelerated. I shut my truck off and it wouldn’t turn back on. All of my electronics work but it doesn’t even want to try to start or turn over. I had to tow my truck home and it is now sitting in front of my house unusable. I have videos I can provide.
My truck has 140,000 miles and I have maintained it to the specs provided by Ford My vehicle began to unexpectedly overheat when I was in 6th gear cruising at a low RPM. I had the coolant fluid tested for exhaust gasses. Exhaust gasses were detected and it was determined I had a blown head gasket. After taking to mechanics, other owners all over the internet, and Ford dealership employees at the dealership I purchased ny truck from. Everyone said the same thing. The 2.7L EcoBoost motor is prone to blowing a head gasket. My own father who has the same truck, just a younger older than mine decided to just replace the whole motor because he too blew a head gasket. This head gasket issue is pervasive and I would not be surprised if over 20% of this generation of motor has the same problem. I
Engine shut off on me in the middle of the road. Found out the water pump sheared off causing the timing chain to not function properly, bending valves and requiring a engine rebuild
My manifolds have warped on my truck and is a common issue with Ford trucks. They use 8 bolts instead of 11 and know this will eventually cause the manifolds to warp. The dealership wants $5200 to fix it. Its not affordable so will have to drive it. Unfortunately exhaust can get into the passenger area and is dangerous. This has to be covered as Ford knew it would happen then gouge the consumer and could harm them. Thank you! I was going to pass someone and as I was speeding up the check engine light came on. I pulled over and there was nothing wrong with the truck. Months later there was a warning that came up on the dash it said something about shifting and i was to park the truck. I took it to a transmission shop, come to find out that the shifting sensor had went out. They cleared the check engine light and it came back on. Ran a diagnostic on it and it said there was like 8 different things that needs to be fixed. There was Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold, Air Distribution Damper Position Sensor- Circuit Short to Ground or Open, Bank 1 Air/Fuel Ration Imbalance, Sensor Circuit, Internal Control Module Torque Performance, Heater Control Circuit (Bank 1, Sensor 1). When I am at a certain speed the truck will vibrate (feels like you have ran over the rubber strips on the road), if I accelerate and the passing gear kicks in there is a strange sound coming from under the truck. I dontfell like this should be put off on me. I have had alot of people saying that they are having the same issues I am having.

Exhaust manifold bolts constantly warping & also causes fumes to get inside of cabin of vehicle.
While driving, the vehicle has been going into limp mode at varying speeds on the roadway or while pulling onto the road. The problem lies within the components of the electric throttle body. The system malfunctions and locks the throttle body closed, thus putting the truck into limp mode. Shutting the vehicle off, waiting, and restarting temporarily resolves this issue UNTIL the PCM detects a fault in the electrical components of the throttle body and sends the truck into limp mode. When this happens, it also triggers a warning message regarding hill start assist. This is an extreme safety issue as pulling onto the roadway or loosing power in traffic and not being able to pull off can lead to collisions especially around blind curves or in heavy traffic. There also isn’t always a location to safely pull off the roadway, potentially leaving the vehicle and its operator in the roadway, increasing the risk of collision and injury
My trunk model should been a part of the big recall for the transmissions throwing himself into different gears . It only allows me to upload pictures I have actual videos while I was driving a bit happeriod but it kept going from sixth gear and throwing itself into fourth gear Immediately numerous times and then whenever I would go faster cause I bumped it up 2 miles per hour going 77 miles per hour it dropped gears as I went up and speed
On 4 separate occasions approaching stops/stoplights the engine shuddered and died leaving me without power steering or power brakes. Three additional occasions while taking off from stops the engine did the same thing and dies suddenly causing the vehicles behind me to rear end one another. The electrical system has malfunctioned while driving, leaving me without blinkers, headlights or dash lights. The dealer as well as ford are aware of the problem and have issued reports regarding the faulty engines. This truck has been in the dealership multiple times without remedy from ford. There is no warning prior to the engine shuddering and cutting off. These issues have been reported since the first month of ownership. We purchased this vehicle new.

After vehicle warms up. There is a "shudder" in either the engine or the power train. It is random and makes the truck vibrate. RPM gauge also fluctuates.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle vibrated abnormally, and the vehicle stalled. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact stated that occasionally, while the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light or stop sign, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
While at idle with a hot engine, the vehicle will intermittently shudder and stall. Once a check engine light appeared with the vault being cam shaft sensor. The check engine light has not reappeared to assist a mechanic as to the specific fault. The engine still has an idle issue which seems to be common with this engine and model year according to auto forums I have visited.
Engine failure at 90,000 miles Services all done at ford dealership yet the engine still didn’t work somehow. Wheel bearing at 100,000 failing causing rattling of wheels

Truck randomly downshifted while going high speed, causing tires to lock up.
2016 f150 3.5L eco boost V-6 was purchased recently from used dealership. Upon taking possession the vehicle would shut down while driving. I would need to get to the shoulder of road, put truck in park, turn off vehicle and then restart. It’s happened 20 times in last 30 days. I’ve taken to dealership 5x and they are unable to resolve, diagnose or offer any help. Online, many other owners have noted same issue. Doing 65 on fwy and truck suddenly dies is big deal! Ford does nothing. Error message on dash says something about stability track. When restarting engine, it turns over many times as if flooded but then starts.
Transmission locks up and loses power. Took to dealership last fall. They said it was celluloid in transmission paid over 1k to repair and to this day still causes constant safety problem.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 20 MPH, the transmission downshifted to a lower gear while attempting to stop at a traffic light. These vehicles with the 5.0L engines have a problem with cam phaser timing which causes a rattle in the engine it also causes the engine to stall sometimes it causes the engine to stutter, in my forum I have saw this complaint from guys with vehicles ranging from 2015 up to 2019, this is a problem Ford knows about but haven't done anything about it, they have since developed a new cam phaser timing set but, they didn't not do a recall on this, this is a problem that occurs several times a week.
after warming up vehicle would not idle right when coming to a stop. it was intermittent at first but then got progressively worse. While sitting at a stop light rpms would go up to about 1000 then surge beyond without any input from me and then drop to below 500 sometimes killing the engine at what was suppose to be idle. there were not codes or check engine light but took to dealership when it first started happening they said they couldn't find anything wrong. during this time i replaced spark plugs, coils and timing sensors trying to fix but it those repairs didn't take care of it. but then it became more consistent and took it back in and they were able to confirm the problem occurring and after testing they recommended and changed out the timing components and all cam phasers, phaser filters and all vct solenoids
Timing chain tensioner broke causing a complete engine blown while in the dealership’s possession.
The contact's wife owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerk and hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal. In addition, the contact stated that the transmission unexpectedly downshifted with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics and the spark plugs, sensor coils, and other various engine parts were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the oil pan started leaking. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the oil pan gasket and valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that during a routine oil change visit, the mechanic observed condensation near the oil pan. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the oil pan and valve covers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 101,000.

Oil pan leaked once before I bought the vechicle and once again at 90,000 miles and once again at 143,000 miles. Ford knows there is a problem related to the oil pan gasket and plastic oil pan. Ford upgraded the seal but it will still leak because the pan will get warped from the heat. On the ford forum multiple people have reported this as a problem as well.
Dec 2021 - Normal maintenance check including oil change. Technician informed me about leakage at oil pan. TSB 23-2083. Replaced defective oil pan. Jan 2025 - Normal maintenance check including oil change. Technical informed me about leakage at oil pan. TSB 24-2098. New design oil pan & replaced defective oil pan. Ford customer service notified. I requested if there was any financial compensation associated with these 2 repairs under respective TSBs. Answer - out of warranty. Internet searching - seems that these leakage at oil pan is known issue by Ford including a redesigned oil pan. Question = why is there no safety recall yet ?? These TSBs only give info about defect and how to fix. If vehicle is out of warranty, the repair cost is up to consumer. Consumer may not understand total impact = SAFETY issue because no oil then engine can malfunction or overheat resulting in vehicle stoppage on road (potential crash).
Exhaust leak from manifold and broken bolt from engine block causing unhealthy exhaust to go into the cabin. Faulty Exhaust manifold removed/replaced with an upgraded new manifold/engine block bolts by license auto repair shop.
My 2016 Ford f150 engine failed. The Ford dealership found the turbo & the valves failed. 2 pistons cracked due to excessive carbon build up & the valves failed. The motor failed causing engine to stop suddenly.
Under light acceleration at highway speeds developed a misfire. Pulled over immediately and shut the vehicle down. Started vehicle up again and misfire was still occurring even at idle. Went straight to dealership where service department diagnosed as engine issues related to TSB 19-2384. Known defect to Ford related to a "concern with cylinder head valve guides". Advised by dealer this required new cylinder head but recommended entire long block replacement. Upon further discussion, manufacturer knew about this issue and did not recommend repair until symptoms developed because of their defect. Outside of warranty so dealer said they could provide no payment assistance. Spoke with Ford customer care and they informed me of the same and referred me to NHTSA.
At approximately 62,000 miles, a loud noise started from the passenger side of the engine, car was taken to the local Ford dealership for repairs, and it was determined that the bolts for the exhaust manifold broke which was causing fumes to enter the passenger compartment. Repairs were made at my cost of $6000, and calls were made to Ford Corporate for monetary help but they declined any help at all!
I was getting married and setting to go a getaway immediately after we wed. I got a tune up and go my vehicle read. After the tune up it the drive felt great. So me and my wife took to the highway, and as my vehicle began to accelerate the engine began jitter as I press on the gas peddle. The car would not go past 50 mph. As I kept my feet on the gas you can feel the whole car shaking, then the eco boost kicks in and it immediately accelerate at a high rate of speed and as attempt to control the speed by letting go of the gas. The vehicle shakes as it looses power and settles on 50 to 60 miles shaking until the eco boost kicks in. It was a two hour ride and I couldn't look back just pray. Through out the ride it was the same thing over and over again. My wife and I were in constant fear, because I felt due to the erupt increase in speed I was putting other motorist at risk. The engine light came on and a wrench symbol and tire symbol came on. The component or system that failed or malfunctioned involves the eco boost. It appears to be the same recall reference NHTSA # 24V-635 & Manufacturer: # 24S55. My vehicle presently has 78,000 miles on it and it should not be doing that. I have also looked at other problems with the 2016 Ford F-150 Ecoboost as being the web belt system and head gasket failure. However, whatever is the case anyone with this type of vehicle and experiencing the same thing is catastrophic the public safety at large and it cannot be ignored. Ford must correct this problem before someone end up dying as a result of this problem. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and I pray this may help you properly investigate my experience. I can have my truck available for anyone from NHTSA to inspect. Presently there is no data regarding the problem with this particular vehicle.
For the last 70k mile the vehicle will intermittently die when coming to a stop. Sometimes it just idles rough other times just dies. Not what you want when your trying to pull into traffic very dangerous situation. In August of 2019 a cel was finally displayed and dealer replaced cam solenoid. Unfortunately the fixed was short lived and the stalling continued. I delt with the problem from then forward the cel light never coming on and the dealer never able to duplicate the problem. Recently the dealer cleaned the solenoids in hopes of fixing the problem. It did not and they are unsure on how to fix vehicle. I have been on forums and many others have experienced the same issues it seems like a sizable problem that Ford does not want to address. This can sometimes happen multiple times in a day or go months without a problem Very frustrating

2016 F-150 3.5 112,000 miles. first happend two weeks ago. Has done this 5 times now. It Seems like ever so often I go over a bump or entering or exiting bridge at highway speed my truck would throw the wrench at me and check engine light and hill assist disabled and I don't believe I even have hill assist. I would have no throttle response and have to pull over and the truck would run rough so the only thing I could do is turn it off and back on and the error would fix itself. it's done this to me a handful of times now and I had my code reader with me and the error code P2112- throttle actuator control system stuck open. I did some googling and others have had this same problem. this could be a very bad situation if a person was to pull into traffic or on a busy highway and have no throttle response and get into a accident.
My Engin light went on code was P0304 cylinder 4 misfire.I recently replaced #4 ignition coil. Using power balance test, confirmed cylinder #4 is misfiring but only on idle. Per TSB 19-2310 , suspect #4 direct fuel injector of leaking. The dealership will not help back up this problem. Need all 6 fuel injectors replaced to make my truck SAFE to drive.my truck has the 2.7L v 6 eco boost engine. A lot of these engines have this problem, Ford as of now does not have a recall but should. This problem needs fixed before someone gets hurt. This could cause a fire.
This has happened on four separate occasions. When driving, we suddenly get a warning about hill assist, immediately followed by a warning about stability control, immediately followed by the check engine wrench light. At the exact same time, vehicle shakes very hard and loses acceleration, almost like the connection between the pedal and the engine was cut. Today, we were going about 70mph on the freeway when it happened, and all we could do was put the hazards on and let it roll in neutral. Luckily, we found a bit of shoulder to pull off on. Everyone was in danger because we lost the engine at speed. I'm scared to imagine what would have happened going up an incline. On each of these occasions, turning everything off, waiting, and then turning it back on was what it took for it to be drivable again. We have taken it to the dealership multiple times and they either sell us a 'fix' that doesn't work, or they tell us nothing is wrong with it. Looking at forums online, this problem seems to be one many people have experienced. None of them have found a solution. They suggest problems with wheel sensors and traction control systems. No one has gotten any answers from Ford. It looks like another manufacturer had a suit filed against them for the same problem. Either way, Ford is knowingly letting people drive around with vehicles that can lose engine acceleration power at any time, anywhere. We could have died today, and realistically, us and everyone around us are at risk of injury or death every time we drive this thing. We can't get any answers, and Ford dealership either can't or won't help.
3.5 Turbo Engine developed a rattle noise on startup. I have 149,000 miles change oil every 4-5000 miles. And it has been inspected by a mechanic that the cam phasers are making the noise. Ford has recalled or warranty the 2017 and newer F150s . But nothing on the 2016 model. I would like to start a record of the other 2016 F150 owners with the same problem. I contacted Ford and They want me to pay out of pocket for this repair which can cost up to $3,000 dollars. I would like to know if you have had any other complaints on this issue. Thanks Barry M
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that there was heavy white smoke coming from the exhaust pipe while starting the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact state that the smoke was thicker while driving at various speeds. Truck idles rough and stalls at idle. Truck must be placed in park, restarted, and then placed in drive. This creates a very dangerous situation in start and stop traffic, starting and stopping at intersections, etc. I’m worried about the truck staling instead of paying attention to the surroundings. Based on my searches this is a very common problem that must be fixed before people are injured or possibly killed.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal amount of blueish smoke coming from the exhaust pipe. Transmission does not shift into gear when idle and pushing in the gas pedal. Truck randomly shuts off when at stop lights and have to restart it. Transmission shifts randomly into different gears at different speeds while driving. Transmission struggles to shift into gear and when it does the whole truck shakes and loud clunk noises happens. Cruise control speeds go up and down while driving and engine has trouble shifting into gears to keep up speed.
Exhaust manifold broken studs(bolds) causing exhaust fumes in cab. Carbon monoxide and also loss of performance. This is an ongoing issue with the 3.5 L equal boost motors. Pre 2017. The 2017 motor and further have been redesigned. Why aren’t they doing a recall on pre 2017?
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the transmission had seized in third gear. The contact stated that the transmission failed to shift out of gear. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle was vibrating abnormally. There was an abnormal banging and booming sound detected. The check engine warning light was illuminated. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Timing system, yes. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Truck shuts off in the middle of the road. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, 5 of them. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, by multiple parties. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes it did/does! The check engine light comes on now with the same symptoms it had before. The problems started less than a month after I got the truck. The first 10 to 15 minutes the truck drives fine then afterwards the check engine light normally comes on throws code p0022. It use to start rough idling with no light on at all but kills when I stop at a light or act as if it’s going shut off when slowing down. The truck is sluggish while it’s acting up, slow to pick up speed and it runs rough. The light will go off for 10 miles and be back on the next day but stays on. The remote start won’t work . The dealer I purchased it from did a lot of work but nothing they did fixed the problem. On paper it says cleaning rather than what they really did. I know they cleaned the throttle body, replaced one of the battery terminals etc.,. The truck has had a full timing job, alternator , water pump and much more done to it. Money was spent on this and the truck continues to do the same thing. Received a diagnostic from yet another ford and they’re trying to replace the same parts that has been replaced multiple times. The truck still isn’t fixed and never has been since day one. It’s just parts being changed and money being wasted. It’s so much I can speak on about this truck but it’s very frustrating. Attached will be some of the invoices that I have for the work that’s been done on the ford f150.
The contact's wife owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 75-80 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted from 6th gear to 3rd gear. The power train warning light was illuminated. The contact shifted to neutral(N) and pulled to the side of the road. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle operated as needed while driving. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer several times; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the transmission failed to shift from third gear to first gear. The contact was able to continue driving. Additionally, the contact stated while attempting to drive from a complete stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal until the engine revved to 80 MPH, and the vehicle responded, but then failed to exceed 5 MPH. The contact pulled to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to another dealer, where the transmission control module and the crankshaft pressure sensor were replaced. The vehicle was repaired, and the contact was provided a two year warranty for the TCM. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 138,000.

TSB22-2089 Issue: Some 2015-2022 F-150, 2017-2022 Super Duty and 2018-2022 Expedition/Navigator vehicles may exhibit poor air conditioning (A/C) performance, loss of airflow and/or engine cooling fans running continuously from high A/C pressures. This concern may be from the evaporator freezing up due to the evaporator temperature sensor being biased. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to replace the evaporator temperature sensor. Many vehicles are experiencing this same problem including my fathers truck at 20k miles , sometimes for others at, as little as, 500 miles, the problem not only causes ac shut off after 30 minutes of driving, it also causes intermittent surges of the front fan causing the fan to turn on at high rates of speed causing wear and tear on the fan. This must be assessed on vehicles with this engine and similar equipment
Started July 2023. No code ever shows when issue happens. Ford technician has personally taken it home (with our permission) at night then driven it back to work (last July) and couldn't get the issue to occur. When idling at a stop sign/light, the vehicle will vibrate then stall. Have to put the truck in park from drive, touch brake and push start button to get it going again. We spent $1700 in January 2024 where they replaced some computer program. This did NOT fix the problem. Yesterday, we went to Pensacola, FL from Foley, AL and it stalled 5 times when idling. In the 10 months this has been happening, we can go two to three weeks without it stalling, then it will stall 1-3 times in the same trip. Researched internet - this seems to be a common problem but did not find a common resolution. So for now, we are thinking this is an engine issue. We haven't received any codes for any other issues. Also, Ford had a recall on this truck model for random tailgate opening. WE did take the truck in for this recall. This too did not fix the problem. Our hands are tied. I'm putting yesterday's date and information. It started July 2023 after 4th of July.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for routine brake maintenance, and it was discovered that there was an oil pan leak present. No warning lights were illuminated. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was out of warranty and the repair would be out of pocket. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer recognized that the oil pan had been improperly manufactured before and currently there was a permanent repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was 62,533.

When driving the transmission will shift to different settings forcing the rear wheels to lock up and sending the truck into limp mode. The wrench light will appear for a short amount of time and the truck will go back to running like normal. I was told by the dealer the Transmission Lead Frame needs to be replaced and my vehicle is currently in the shop facing a $1500 repair. I had the power train control module replaced a few weeks ago because the truck had similar problems but not to the extreme of what I faced yesterday [XXX]. Bad valve guide causing oil to leak past into the cylinder head. Bad smoke at startup and poor gas mileage. Motor needs replacement because it's cheaper than replacing the bad guides or cylinder heads.
The engine in my 2016 2.7L ecoboost F-150 overheated, while I was driving on the highway, without any warning that the temperature in the engine was rising. The temperature rose so much the engine cracked, resulting in a catastrophic failure. The coolant temp sensor came on when it cracked but the damage was done. There was absolutely no warning I was having a mechanical issue prior to the damage. I was barely able to get it onto the shoulder of the highway, with my children in the backseat. On top of that, Ford has made it impossible to find a replacement engine for that model. I have been fighting for months to find a replacement. The dealerships inform me they can't get a new engine because Ford no longer produces it. I spoke directly to Ford customer relations and they confirmed there is no replacement and are not willing to help me. My truck is currently at a mechanics shop and available to be inspected if necessary. I know of several other F150s that have experienced the same issue. Ford knew they had a problem with the ecoboost engine and have done nothing to fix it.
exhaust manifold studs cannot support the weight of the manifold and turbo and end up breaking, ultimately causing exhaust leaks into the passenger cabin creating a toxic air quality inside the vehicle. Ford has redesigned the part to have an additional bolt as this is a common problem. There should be a forced recall with Ford to repair vehicles effected by this and install the upgraded part. I've received quotes from mechanics of several thousand dollars to repair this. Ford needs to take care of this. I have 75k miles on my vehicle.
I have 79k miles on my truck. Its almost 8 years old. I was told by ford and by a ford dealership that my exhaust manifold was covered. Now they are saying its not. It is leaking exhaust into the cabin because its leaking exhaust fromt the engine. They want $5,000 to fix it. When I went online, I find out this is very very common. Shouldn't this be a recall for safety? Also, their own warranty covers emmissions up to 8 yrs or 80k miles. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. There was an abnormal ticking and rattling noise detected. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The local dealer was contacted but was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact who is an independent mechanic stated that the failure was due to the camshaft phasers. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The approximate failure mileage was 91,000.

2016 Ford F150 Platinum 5.0L V8 with automatic 6R80 transmission. Erratic gear shifting while driving. Sometimes not getting out of/stuck in 3rd gear and sometimes not downshifting below 3rd gear. Orange wrench or illuminated MIL light came on followed by a solid check engine light. Took it to dealership - DTC P0720 and P0722 appeared. Dealership tech states that he reprogrammed the PCM and output shaft speed sensor, and that the next step is to drive it and see how it does and if it didn’t fix the problem then he will have to change the molded leadframe. This issue is exactly the same issue as the customer satisfaction program 19N01. The safety concern is I don’t want to drive it around, waiting for the leadframe to fail one day while I’m driving down the freeway with my family in 6th gear and have the truck shift abruptly to 3rd or 1st gear and lose control. This issue is exactly like the 19N01 with the same 6R80 transmission.

The bolts on the exhaust manifold cannot withstand the torque and heat generated from the engine and turbos. The bolts snap and cause sagging and warping of the manifolds, which allow for unfiltered exhaust fumes to release into the engine bay and sequentialy into the main cabin. This not only causes carbon filled exhaust enter the environment, but it also exposes to passengers as well as any children in the cabin to carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. This is a known design flaw by the engineers at Ford, and they have released a second generation of the manifold including an additional bolt hole. There have also been aftermarket parts created for this with more bolt holes to match the amount of holes that are available in the engine. Being a this is a known design flaw and increases environmental and personal risk, should be formally acknowledged by Ford and a recall should be administered at the cost of the company.
Saturday 2/10/24 my check engine light came on and it is throwing P2005/P2007 which is apparently really common. The intake manifold needs to be changed. The 1st place I looked they have been waiting over a year for parts and it is a pretty expensive repair for something that is well known and very common. It causes idling issues when stopping and other people reported no power when taking off which could be a huge safety issue. I am not sure how FORD can have an issue this big and it not be recalled.
Vehicle stalls out at an idle. Several forum postings on Ford forums that owners of 2015 to 2017 F150 5.0 truck have had the same issues. Several users have said ford has replaced the VVT solenoid, and the issue has been resolved.
Check engine light just came on. Before that engine would shutter then stall. No steering and brakes could end up poorly. Think this is a safety hazard
plastic oil pan leaking. had to replace it with a factory improved since many problems have been reported with this truck. Replacement cost was $1,343.87. The electrical problems deals with the radio sometimes it does not work until the next day. Has been that day since day 1 with the new truck. Dealership said nothing was wrong!!!!
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 55-60 MPH, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode and lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact turned off the vehicle and restarted the vehicle after a while. The contact continued driving; however, the failure recurred several times while driving. The contact was able to drive to the residence. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where unknown repairs were performed. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 20 MPH on a slight incline and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond. The message "Hill Assist Not Working" was displayed. The contact stated that she reversed at 3 MPH to her residence. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times while driving on a level road. The contact veered to the side of the road and shifted into Sport(S) mode, and was able to drive 30-35 MPH. The vehicle was taken to Rocky Mountain Yeti Pinedale Jeep RAM (153 S Entertainment Ln, Pinedale, WY 82941), where it was diagnosed that the throttle body had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the windshield wipers failed to disengage and remained on slow intermittent mode. The dealer reset the windshield wipers setting; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. My truck continues to stall at stop signs, traffic lights and when just idling. This is unacceptable and a hazard to me and other traffic.
My 2.7L echo-boost engine had to have 2 cylinder heads replaced at 62K miles, fortunately I had purchased the extended warranty. I have since learned this is an engine design that is prone to this problem. Unfortunately they are still allowed to put these engines in their trucks. I have since purchased additional warranty to protect myself from further expense related to the bad engine design. I'm upset that when I go to sell my truck the carfax report will include this engine issue and my truck will be devalued for it. Prior to my taking it to the dealer, my check oil light was coming on with no trace of an oil leak anywhere, they knew right away what the cause was because they had seen this problem many times before. It took them 6 weeks to get my truck repaired. The warranty company kept stalling on whether they were going to pay for the repair, which eventually they did.
Merging onto interstate and truck begins to shutter and won't accelerate accordingly. Pull over and when the truck comes to a stop and idles the oil gauge begins to move erratically. Took truck in for an inspection on August 15, 2023. Mechanic stated intake manifold needed to be replaced due to malfunction (flaps not opening to allow airflow). Mechanic also stated that replacement part was on national backorder with no release date.
The contact’s grandson owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 76-77 MPH, the vehicle accelerated improperly and was jerking. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that there was only 20% compression in cylinder #2. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and it was confirmed that there was no recall associated with the VIN or the failure. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

2016 Ford 150 engine needed replacing after 63,000 miles. Ford said it would cost 14,000 and take 2 months to get it. So I traded in, they only gave me 4000 for it because of that. still owed 7000. I bought it used in 2019 at another ford dealer had 9000 miles on it then. Mechanic said it could be low oil? Drove to work fine could not start to drive home. Towed to ford.
Engine Stalls (at low RPMs) mostly when stopping at traffic lights, not as bad if Im able to put in Park (it will still idle rough. but, not as likely to completely stall). I have noticed This is more likely after driving at higher speeds (70mph - 85mph) for prolonged periods of time (1hr - 6hrs). I bought the truck 4yrs ago, with 78k on it.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, he noticed a leak on the ground from underneath the engine compartment. The contact stated that the fumes had a foul odor, and the odor was also entering the interior of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a warped engine oil pan and that oil was leaking into the exhaust. The contact was informed that the engine oil pan needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

Before purchasing, it was later outlined by a different dealership/repair shop that the truck had previously had the remain replaced sometime before 21,000miles. At 25,000 miles truck was sent to West Hills Ford dealer ship for warranty work. When truck was returned, a complaint was made before leaving the dealership stating that; The motor had a slight engine shake, and the RMP's failed to hold study at ideal, and ran slightly rough. Dealership (west hills auto) replied; Until failure warranty would not fix. At 41,000 miles motors timing system failed and was eventually paid for out of owners pocket; as covid-19 loomed repairs where unavailable and both factory warranty and extended warranties where exhausted. Owner is currently in the process of filling complaints with state attorney general. At 44,000 miles the motor has completely froze and remaining unrepaired. Outsourced extended warranty claim was filed and a claim number was approved, but never redeemed, and still remains unpaid to mechanic shop.

My exhaust manifold leak occurred in June of 2023. Paid $1650 in costs. At the time. In had 86552 miles in the truck. Only three bolts were replaced. Now, with 123000 miles, I have a new exhaust manifold leak. It appears ford is aware of this problem—they created a new exhaust manifold. It also appears ford originally designed the engine to be much more durable as there are at least three more bolt holes for additional bolts—this would help dissipate the head that causes the heat that causes the warping manifold. As a result of a poor design, the truck could (and does) lose power will traveling on the roadway. This is a well-known problem with the ford 3.5 ecoboost.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving into a parking area, the vehicle lost all electrical and motive power. The contact was able to coast into the parking area, where the vehicle failed to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the cam phasers. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to Customer Satisfaction Program 21N03. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 42,000.

Engine failue. Yet another 2.7l V6 ecoboost that blew up. Known engine failure/design from Ford you are already investigating. Ford refused to cover new engine replacement cost (EVEN WHILE UNDER WARRANTY!). $10,000 out of pocket expense.
I'm writing regarding an issue I had with my 2016 Ford F150 with the 2.7L Ecoboost engine and a recent article I read regarding a NHSTA investigation into the 2021-2022 model year 2.7L engines ( [XXX] ). In October of 2022, the engine in my truck cut off on the highway and would not restart. The Ford Dealership said it needed a completely new engine due to a valve problem. It is the same problem described in the article. The engine failed with only 45,000 miles on it but was already out of warranty. It took over 7 months for Ford to replace the engine and cost me thousands of dollars (Ford case # [XXX]). Ford did next to nothing in helping me...no rental assistance and no loaner. I am writing to request the investigation expand to cover the 2016 model year as there were numerous articles discussing the same problem in earlier model years. It is the same problem I encountered and now fear will happen again with the 2nd engine I had to purchase. I have saved all of the interactions I had with Ford as well as the repair invoices and would be happy to share or answer any questions you may have. 2016 FORD F150 WITH 55,000 MILES.STARTED DRIVING VEHICLE, ENGINE RPM DROPPED, ENGINE MISSING AND SHAKING. NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. VEHICLE JUST IDLED HORRIBLY. DASH HAD LARGE WRENCH SYMBOL AND AN "ACCUTRAC SERVICE NEEDED" WARNING. i TURNED OFF IGNITION, RESTARTED VEHICLE. SAME RESULTS. I DID THIS 4-5 MORE TIMES. LAST TIME VEHICLE IDLED OKAY AND ACCELERATED. DROVE THE VEHICLE 60 MILES HOME WITH NO THER ISSUES. CHECKED WITH AN OBD-II DIAGNOSTICS AND GAVE 2 CODES: P2111 THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM-STUCK OPEN AND P2112 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM-STUCK CLOSED. NOW, NOW WARNING LIGHT OR ANY INDICATION OF PROBLEM ON DASH. NO WARNING LAMPS PRIOR TO PROBLEM. SAFETY WAS AT RISK BECAUSE WITHOUT WARNING, PULLING OUT INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC AND LOSING THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WITH TRAFFIC COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. LOOKING THIS PROBLEM UP IN AN ONLINE FORD F150 FORUM INDICATES THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM. WHY HAS THERE BEEN NO RECALL FOR THIS POTENTIALLY DEADLY ENGINE FAILURE CIRCUMSTANCE?
Faulty exhaust manifold design has created a dangerous situation in my truck. Broken exhaust manifold is causing catalytic converter to get very hot and potentially dangerous. I feel this is a poor design in the gen 1 f150, ford should be responsible for taking care of this. They knew about the problem and I have since redesigned the manifold It cost upwards of 2000 dollars to have this replaced
On three occasions my vehicle went into a “FAIL-SAFE MODE” . The first occurrence happened while I’m driving on dry pavement at approx 45mph. Unexpectedly the engine shakes and slowed the vehicle to 5mph while I’m in medium to heavy traffic. I was on a two lane road and had to quickly pull off to the shoulder. The second occurrence was while I was merging in heavy traffic and accelerating into the flow of that traffic. As the FAIL-SAFE MODE made my vehicle rapidly slow the cars behind me had to swerve and make fast lane changes. I engaged my emergency flashers to caution other drivers until I could escape the roadway on to a private driveway. The third occasion was similar to the first. Each time the FAIL-SAFE MODE happened a warning message appeared on my dash with a description of the problem and a large wrench appeared. Two different messages appeared. Twice the message was regarding a failure in the TRACTION. CONTROL. Once the message was about a problem with the HILL DESCENT CONTROL. After each event I turned off the engine, waited a few minutes, restarted the engine and was able to drive away like nothing happened. The owners manual instructed me to stop driving and have the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer has now had my vehicle for a month. They computer on this vehicle erases the code when the engine is restarted. So they cannot fix this problem. I asked the service manager at the dealership to reach out to the manufacturer which he did. The manufacture’s response was “without a code we can’t diagnose the problem, give the vehicle back to the guest”. This is a serious safety issue, a vehicle that would come to a crawl while in traffic. This would put myself and other drivers at risk. The dealer wants me to drive the vehicle to have the issue duplicate itself and then what?
I have replaced four turbos directly from board on the driver side only and now my transmission decided to lock up on me on the freeway at 75 mph and they're saying that it was a lead frame problem which Ford doesn't have any they're on backorder for months
Plastic oil pan is warped and is leaking oil. Gap has formed between the pan and the RTV gasket. There is a known TSB 23-2083 from Ford outlining the issue. The has recently been redesigned. I was told that there is a design issue in the oil system and I could possibly have to replace the valve covers. So, now due to a known issue with the design of the oil system, I am getting charged $3000 to replace system.

I was driving normally to work one morning. I was stopped at a light and made a right turn onto highway. Engine was running fine up to that point, but all of a sudden it started shaking uncontrollably and all power (throttle) was lost. Ford inspected and told me valve seals were bad and that oil had leaked as a result causing metal shavings in multiple cylinders. I come to find out that it is a known issue based on service bulletin posted on NHTSA site explaining to techs how to fix issue IF owners reports it.. My concern is that I was never informed of anything, I had no warning lights display any kind of alerts leading up to this incident, and was just due for oil change. I am now being quoted $19,000 for cylinder head replacements (which is what is listed on service bulletin) or $17,000 for new engine install. Vehicle just stopped in middle of road, between multiple cars.

The ford 2.7 liter eco boost engine has a design flaw that leads to the engine oil pan to leak around the seal which creates an environmental concern for leaking oil on the ground and also poses a fire risk as the oil could potentially contact something hot and could flame up. This is a known issue that many 2.7 liter eco boost engine owners have had to deal with and some of them have had to make the costly repair more than once. Ford only has issued a TSB 23-2083 for this issue and will not do a recall unless the NTSB says per their customer service at Ford corporate who handled my case that I had opened up.
Three things happened simultaneously: 1. The exhaust manifold warped, causing a loss of power, a whistling sound and other issues to occur. 2. Integrated locking 4WD Hubs lost vacuum causing my drivers side front-wheel to attempt going into 4WD while going down the highway at 70mph. 3. Spark Plugs went bad again. I had to change all spark plugs at 50K and now again at 100K.
I went to start my 2016 F-150 Lariat one morning and it took a little longer to start up than usual and it was shaking at idle, something it had never done before. I took it to a shop where it was hooked up to the obd2 reader and it showed that it was most likely needing new spark plugs and possibly coils for cylinders 2 and 3 which made sense because there was less than 74,000 miles on the truck. When I got them replaced the same thing was happening but now there were check engine lights. I took it to the dealership for them to work on they said that cylinders 2 and 3 were cracked. With the issues that the 2.7 Eco boost engines have been having a recall or ford should make this right. A 10,000 dollar repair for a known issue is not the right way to conduct business.
My 2016 Ford F150 XLT would stall when stopped at red lights or stop signs. My dealership advised they ran codes and could not find anything wrong. I continued to drive the truck and the problem persisted. I had another location run for codes and found that I had a defective intake manifold where the valves would stick closed and not allow enough air to the engine causing it to shut down. I returned to my dealership and advised them of the codes I learned about. I also conducted research on the internet and found that F150s with a 5.0 engine had this problem. My intake manifold now needs to be replaced. I believe should the truck stall while driving or not start again when at a red light, it could cause a safety issue with possibly being rear-ended and a traffic hazard to myself, my family, or other motorists. This is a defective part that is intregral to the operation of a vehicle.
Unknown which system is failing as Ford is unable to repair it. The truck codes include underpowered, turbo, catalytic converter, misfire. Truck cannot accelerate. Happens sporadically. The spark plugs, manifold, catalytic converter, brakes, rotors and turbo have all been replaced. Truck continues to have issues accelerating and running. At several points the cab of the truck filled with exhaust. Another point radiator fluid spewed all over under the hood. This truck is a threat to the health and safety of those driving it. The F150 forum states it is a common occurrence and the dealerships are replacing the same parts every few months and the problem never full resolves. Please recall this truck. The date below is when the problem started occurring but has been ongoing since.

Driving up a hill on interstate 70MPH when an engine light with Hill Climb Assist disabled error came on. Accellerater shut down and had to coast to side of road. I shut vehicle off and started back up and was able to proceed till I got off highway and proceeded up another hill and same thing happened stalled and came to a stop. I found dozens of other F150 owners having the same problem stalling in the highway. All the posts indicate they had a bad "Throttle Body". Ford has had similar problems on other models but doesn't aknowledge this one.

The engine dies intermittently when idle. Typically when the vehicle is at operating temperature and the engine is sitting around 500 rpm. This includes while stopped at a light, in stop and go traffic during rush hour traffic and occasionally while in reverse. The issue seems to come and go but does not ever report any codes. I’ve taken the truck back to ford dealership and they were not able to reproduce after keeping the truck for a couple of weeks. NTB looked at it as well and was unable to reproduce. I was able to record it on video but since the issue does not consistently happen no one will look at the vehicle any further if they are unable to reproduce it. This happens at least three or four times a year and started mid 2022. Each episode can have a series of stalls throughout the day. This may be coincidental but Ford did make engine repairs at the end of 2021/start of 2022 to repair the truck going into “limp mode.” This includes replacing the spark plugs, throttle body, and transmission lead frame. The most concerning risk is when this happens while driving on the highway. I can quickly put the truck back into park and restart the truck but I have to keep an eye on the RPM to try and rev the engine if I am not at a full stop. I can sometimes recognize when it’s about to happen when the truck experiences a sudden tremor at which point I see the RPM flutter around 500 and I can put the truck into neutral and rev the engine to keep the RPM high enough to prevent a stall. I’m unable to upload the video to your site but I’m happy to send via any other method if you need it.
Engine light came. On took to have diagnosed said it was intake manifold control value needed replaced .well, nobody has this part in the nation having to wait for this part could be a long time why my vehicle has about 70 k well taken care of.had a very expensive issue last year with transmission cost 2400 . out of pocket .I think my vehicle is a lemon with issues happening each year thank you for any help . we called FORD and they were absolutely no help what so ever.04/27/2023
Ford used plastic oil pans for several years which do not have a gasket. A sealant (RTV) is used and fails at some point. This vehicle started minor leaking two years ago. Fast forward to 2023, after a dealer oil change, major leaking has occurred causing severe spotting under the vehicle requiring a drip pan underneath. The fluid level requires checking at every use. Also, the dealer is unable to obtain a new oil pan. (The old has to be thrown out.) All of this is substantiated by many many customers seeking answers and advice online. The dealer has said these pans are on backorder and have been for over a year. The latest arrival date could be May 18, 2023. There are answers FORD and the NHSTA need to address now. A Ford technical service bulletin was issued August 6, 2019, 19-2205. A production run of metal oil pans needs to be organized immediately to increase supply and alleviate the serious problem of vehicle malfunction or unable to use as designed. A RECALL should be initiated now. And, the price of replacement is over $1,100, labor and parts.
Coolant intrusion into cylinders. 109,054 miles. Well-maintained vehicle. Internet research suggests that this is a common problem with the EcoBoost engine.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated he became aware of an oil leak from the drain plug. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the engine to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.

2016 Ford F-150 3.5L LH Exhaust Manifold Failure. Resulting in the potential release of exhaust fumes into the passenger cab. Recently experienced severe flutter noise and loud exhaust noise from the Left Hand Side of my engine. After diagnosing the flutter noise upon start up and acceleration was coming from the LH turbo charger "Waste Gate" the turbo was removed and prior to replacement it was found that the two aft exhaust manifold studs were also sheared off. After several attempts to remove the two studs failed, and some internet investigation (including this NHTSA website) it was decided it was best to remove and replace the complete exhaust manifold and studs. Fortunately FORD found it in their favor to increase the number of rear port studs from 2 to 3. After installation of the new exhaust manifold, gaskets, studs and turbo charger for a total cost of approximately $3,000 the truck runs exceptionally well once again.
Passenger side exhaust manifold failed at 56,000 miles and was repaired through emissions warranty. Driver-side exhaust manifold failed at 74,000 miles and Ford will not cover it. I believe both manifolds should have been replaced at 56,000 miles or the current failure should be replace through warranty.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the brake pedal went to the floorboard while depressed. The vehicle failed to stop immediately rear-ending another vehicle. No air bags deployed. The contact sustained injuries to his neck and back but did not receive medical attention. A police report was filed. Additionally, the contact stated the vehicle consumed an excessive amount of oil and the key fob failed to function as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

5.0 liter V8 engine has a stalling problem. Very randomly the engine will stall when I come to a stop. This has become a very concerning safety issue for me. I have taken it to my local Ford dealership and after 5 days of having the vehicle they cannot duplicate the issue. I have had the injectors cleaned, the plugs replaced and the dealer replaced the throttle body. None of these repairs that cost over $1500 made any change to the problem. Vehicle is currently at another mechanic and after 4 days he also cannot duplicate it yet has had the engine go into a very low idle and come close to stalling. This is not producing any engine code or check engine light or any incident on a in drive scanner. This issue is well documented on Ford F150 blog sites with no real solution to the problem.
I keep reading online and hearing a bunch of instances regarding trying to accelerate and the truck falling flat and losing power. (This recently happened to me trying to get onto the expressway.) I was driving on the on-ramp and pushing the pedal to accelerate and I was parallel to the front of a semi truck. I tried passing and the truck completely went into limp mode and thank goodness there was a shoulder because I braked as hard as I could and threw the steering wheel as far to the right as I could. My life flashed in front of my eyes and it made me want to sell the vehicle because I have a baby and if it wasn’t for instinct I don’t know where I’d be. And that’s why I am posting this in hopes of this issue being some sort of recall. I later went to an auto parts store and the code read P2112 the tech said it was pertaining to the throttle bottle and it’s a common issue. I don’t know how many hundreds/thousands of people this has happened to but in my humble opinion this needs to be addressed. The vehicle is a 2016 F150 King Ranch 3.5L EcoBoost
My truck stalls at a low rate of speed when driving in traffic. My truck is available for inspection at most any time and I have not notified any party but NHTSA. There were no warning lights or messages to indicate anything.
The exhaust manifold have warped,up due to lack of bolting down properly from the factory, and it is a known fact there are many other vehicles with the eco-boost that are having the same problem as I am 3.5
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, there was a knocking sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The dealer was contacted and stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 145,000.

Vehicle shudders and stalls occasionally especially after a period of driving.
Vehicle shuts off when in idle. Happens more often during a long drive. I have taken this vehicle to Firestone and a Ford Motor Company Service shop to have it repaired. Mechanics state that they are not able to replicate the issue and cannot do anything because the check engine light is not on. Considered about safety factors of vehicle shutting off when making a left turn and being hit by on coming traffic. Has been occurring for last 15,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35-40 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the intake manifold needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that an intake manifold replacement was needed. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was informed that parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was notified but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.

I was cruising on the highway normal speed them out of nowhere, my engine lost power and then a hill decent fault warning popped up. I pulled over then when I came to a complete stop my truck was shaking like if it had a misfire. So then I turned it off then back on. It turned back on on the first try but it struggled. When it turned on everything went away like nothing happen. Warning lights and the shaking went away.
The contact called on behalf of a family member who owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the odor of burning oil was present inside and outside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who replaced the engine O-rings on three separate occasions however, the odor was still present. The contact stated that the the engine vacuum pump was also replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that no oil leaks were visible underneath the hood of the vehicle. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 190,000.

While driving vehicle jerked and engine shut off. Gas pedal was unresponsive. Flashed engine too hot and hill start assist disabled. Brought vehicle to a stop and engine idled rough before it stopped restarted vehicle ran in limp mode for approximately 5 minutes before I restarted again. No check engine codes to help diagnose. After second restart truck runs as if nothing happened. This has happened twice now with kids in the vehicle. Not safe while driving down a state highway.
Driving home form work I started getting an exhaust smell, kept driving and once I came to a complete stop at a light my entire cabin filled with exhaust white/blue smoke. I pulled over to check it out, opened the hood and the exhaust was coming from the back of the engine. A wrecker driver pulled up behind my truck, got out with his fire extinguisher for safety. He is the one who told me to look into the manifolds warping or the bolts breaking. The wrecker driver said the smoke in the cabin is carbon monoxide and not to transport and small children. The rest of the day, I had severe headaches. I took it to a shop and they have told me I will need new manifolds and gaskets and potentially a few other gaskets when removing the turbos. They also said this could have damaged my turbos and may lead to other exhaust issues, vehicle performance issues and definitely will not let my vehicle pass the emissions test in Texas. This appears to be a Ford design flaw and hopefully a nation wide recall can be implemented. The shop also recommended not to drive it because the cabin filled with smoke or rather a cabin full of carbon monoxide. This could cost me over $5000.00 to replace all part. Something needs to be done by FORD to fix this issue. I will have to find a way to pay for this as having a vehicle to and from work is necessary. My daily round trip to and from work is 80 miles.
Hill Start Assist Not Available is the associated light. Component replacement: Throttle Body Assembly. I was driving down the road and vehicle caution light came on above, in addition it caused me to have zero throttle pedal control. This occurred out of nowhere and I needed to glide into and off the road to luckily a pull off area. I shut off the truck, and restarted light went away. I thought it was a fluke. I continued and a mile later same exact issue, light came on, and I was going down a hill with no throttle control only brake and steering control, all the while passing vehicles and pulling over by a busy intersection with multiple lanes. I then pulled over and had to have my vehicle towed costing me $320. On top of placing myself at complete risk, if there wasn’t a spot to pull over to, and/or I was going up hill, this would have caused a crash with other motorists and needs immediately fixed. On top of the tow bill, I had to pay $271 for throttle body assembly and associated gasket. This on top of diagnostics $90 and labor associated. I have watched YouTube videos of others having the hill start issues, but this issue occurred out of nowhere and occurred frequently and on the road. Truck has around 125,000, never been involved with a crash of any sort, and this issue should be recalled. I request a refund at the very least from Ford for part and labor and I strongly feel this is the least they should do for putting my life at risk.
I have had two problems worked on by my dealer and neither of them were fixed. The first problem is a leaky oil pan which they attempted to repair the leak 3 times but it still leaks. This may not be a safety recall but I do feel like it is a hazard and I would bet there are probably 1/2 of the 2015-2017 Ford F150 owners with the 2.7 engine with the same problem. If nothing else I would say this is a environmental issue. The second problem I have reported to my dealer is the very poor vision with the back up camera at night. I had to leave my vehicle with the dealer overnight to have the problem looked at but they were not able to fix the problem and did say the night vision is not good.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the cylinder head needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the engine however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no additional assistance was repaired. The failure mileage was 56,749.

Had multiple leaks from both driver and passenger side exhaust manifolds cause by broken stud bolts. This resulted in loss of power and emissions.
Having a horrible screeching sound and after being diagnosed its the exhaust manifolds warping on both sides by the turbos. Local shop is telling me this in a known issue and cannot figure out why Ford has not addressed this issue due to it being a emissions issue technically and they have replaced several for same issues.
The exhaust manifold system on my F-150 failed and the Ford Motor Company is making me pay for repairs that costed approximately $4,000.00. At the time of repairs my truck had around 78,000 miles and yet the Federal Emissions Warranty is supposed to cover my vehicle for 80,000 ,miles or less for components that could adversely effect the vehicle's emissions status while in the continental United States. I have been bringing my vehicle to Ford-Service for it's regularly scheduled maintenance intervals. I have been maintaining my vehicle in accordance with the Ford Vehicle's manual for 2016 F-150. Failure of the F-150 exhaust manifold system is common on Ford Vehicles with the 3.5L Eco Boost Engine. This is due to the metallic warping of the cast iron manifold system over time. To address this issue, Ford has issues a 2021 Special Service Message Sep 1 2021 2979 - 2015-2021 Transit - 3.5L EcoBoost - New Exhaust Manifold Part Numbers - Built On Or Before 01-Dec-2020. The proper repair and replacement parts calls for stainless steel parts that will not warp over time. Failure of the existing manifold parts on these engines could result in the unplanned loss of these critical emission components directly onto the road and into the path of other drivers while operating the vehicle. Ford should be issuing a recall in addition to it's already published Special Service Message for these components so that the safer components can be installed on all affected vehicles. If Ford does not feel any pressure from the NHTSA or any other federal agency in regards to vehicle safety, then it will take a series of tragic accidents involving emission component failures and personnel death/injuries to get the proper amount of attention to force a recall. This is my attempt to notify the NHTSA of a possible critical safety flaw in their 3.5L Ecoboost designs and to get Ford to issue a recall as soon as possible, before getting into extremis.
Both exhaust manifolds have broken manifold studs at 95,000 original miles. This has caused the manifolds to warp and potential leak exhaust into the passenger compartment. Both exhaust manifolds are leaking exhaust at the cylinder heads. The vehicle is currently at my mechanic. His estimate for the repair is $2,700.
Exhaust manifold failure on an F-150 with a 3.5L Ecoboost engine with only 65000 miles. Exhaust fumes enter the truck cab when the engine is running and the truck is stationary. One exhaust manifold was replaced under an emissions system warranty. The other is also leaking at about 70000 miles and Ford doesn’t think they need to replace it as a manufacturing design issue.
Truck exhibits an intermittent lack of engine RPM when coming to a stop while towing. Engine actually dies at stop sign upon exiting interstate. will start and die repeatably until accelerator is depressed slightly, and RPMs are kept to 1,000 or more. Was not a serious problem until I got caught in bumper-to-bumper traffic on I25 north out of Denver. I could only operate with left foot braking and right foot keeping RPM above 1K. Three days at dealer with no luck. I have discovered TSB 18-2249 and 22-2264 that addresses problem to 2018 and 2019 but no mention about my 2016 F150 2.7L.
I recently took my truck in for a recall repair. They took care of the recall problem but was also suppose to look at the rattling (chirping) noise coming from front driver side wheel well. Cant remember mileage on truck when that was fixed. But im almost sure it was b4 80k was reached. My question is im doin research and there is a problem that ford is suppose to repair this issue if stated b4 80k miles or 10 yrs. Im just now seeing this and ive just surpassed 80k miles. Well they had said there were no issues. It was a ford thing. So i figured they knew whats best. Well. Id like my truck fixed if still possible because it is an emission issue. What can b done. Thank you
Oil pan leaking
Engines for the f150 stall out at idle and while on the road. This could leads to a variety of safety problems and for has shown a unwillingness to address the issue and an inability to fix it. i have found 10s of thousands of people online who have similar issues and have ( like me ) taken it to for at their own expanse and gotten no solution. Without action from NHTSA ford will not fix it as they have millions of income from customers paying to fix to no avail. I myself have spend over 5k at the dealership and hour of my time to resolve and yet no repair works for longer then a few weeks at best.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on multiple occasions while driving, the vehicle went into Limp Mode. The contact then stated that the brakes inadvertently engaged causing the vehicle to skid. The check engine and service maintenance warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic and an unknown trouble code was retrieved. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Mileage: 80,000
The cylinder heads failed at 56,000 miles, causing the vehicle to violently jerk forward and backward on the highway at 75mph, the safety of myself, my family, semi-trucks and other passenger vehicles were at risk due to unexpected jerking at such high speeds. The Cylinder head failure, then caused the engine to need replacement. This was all sudden and unexpected. The manufacturer has a TSB for this problem, making it a known defect, but they never fixed it under warranty and are now attempting to charge $10,600 for the repair. The CEL did come on, but only after the failure began.
Exhaust manifolds warped and leaking. Occupants are exposed to harmful emissions.
Vehicle idles rough than stalls after being at speed when stopped. Present a drivable condition in dangerous situations,no warning and throws no codes according to Ford service dealers. This condition has been present for over a year. It’s my belief FMC knows about faulty VCT selinoids and cam phasers failure. They do have a TSB out on some of it. This condition does present a dangerous condition because there are no indications that the truck engine has died. FMC needs to recall vehicles with this condition and replace/ repair the faulty components at their cost.
Both Right side and Left side exhaust manifolds warped resulting in stud bolt failure. The Right side failed at 69000 miles and the left side failed at 82000 miles. This failure results in "Emissions Leakage" and unsafe environment in the cab for occupants. Additionally, from an environmental standards requirement, all exhaust fails to make it through the "Catalyst" for cleansing and damages the "Catalyst" as a result of the engine adjusting to a lean mixture. Ford does not cover this expensive repair under its emissions warranty
Exhaust manifold on the 3.5 liter eco boost is warped and causing power loss, other engine and performance issues/ concerns.
No engine light or warnings. At vehicle start up there is a loud ratteling sound. The variable valve timing system is causing due to the cam phasers being faulty. This is a known issue and some models have recalls but mine is not listed leading to around a $3600 repair on a vehicle that only has 60k miles.
3.5 liter EcoBoost engine had both exhaust manifolds warped and leaking with broken bolt. Two local Ford Dealers informed me that this is an issue plaguing many vehicles with the same engine having the same warped exhaust manifolds. The dealers also stated the only repair is to replace both exhaust manifolds with upgraded parts costing between $3000-$5000 (including labor). Having both exhaust manifolds leaking caused engine exhaust to leak into the engine compartment potentially causing danger during operation and maintenance of the vehicle. Repairs on my vehicle were completed on 6/27/2022 and the reason for delay in repairs was in part between parts ordering and dealership scheduling.
My 2016 Ford F-150 will periodically stall. The stall could occur while stopped (at a light or to make turn), while in park and only idling, or when the vehicle was in motion at less than 25 mph. If it stalled while starting a turn, then there was a serious risk of major collision from oncoming traffic. If the oncoming vehicle did not recognized the vehicle was stalling, or had otherwise failed to properly evaluate the situation early enough then a collision would be likely. A scan of multiple Internet web sites found thousands of people, with similar model years and the same engine, 5.0L Coyote, having the same or similar issue.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact shifted to park(P) and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle regained normal operation. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that bank #2 Variable Camshaft Tuning (VCT) solenoids needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure recurred approximately 10-12 times and became more frequent. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Mileage: 50,000
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V894000 (Engine) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
With regard to your inquiry into ford bronco engine failures IT IS NOT A ISOLATED PROBLEM ! My 2016 has the same engine. At 3000 miles it almost shook off my truck while driving. Ford had to replace entire engine At 30,000 mile mark engine failed again and ford had to replace half the engine These engines are dangerous junk
I was driving vehicle to work. Going approximately 70 mph, the truck suddenly lost the ability to accelerate and starts running very rough, like it lost a cylinder. Then the collision warning comes on the dash and advanced trac icon and then the manual icon with the wrench that says check manual. I coast down the hill from the far left lane to the slow lane and take the first exit off the freeway and pull to the side of road. Shut the vehicle off, wait 30 seconds, try again starts right up and acts like no problem. Happened three times since. Same thing every time
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH and towing a 5th wheel trailer, the vehicle lost motive power. The hill descent warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to pull over off the highway safely. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
Mileage: 40,000
The engine has suddenly started to shake badly and shut off at stops. I’ve had it looked at by ford and they found no issues. I’ve asked around and this is very common. Please help
Both exhaust manifolds are warped and snapped the rear studs off. Occasionally lose power when pushing the accelerator. It has been going for awhile now. I didn’t know what it was until I saw other people were having the same problems.
1st incident - Sudden loss of power when accelerating onto the highway, had to make emergency maneuver into brake down lane. No warning lamps until issue occurred, than every warning light came on! 2nd incident - Sudden loss of power when going to pass a car, once again had to make emergency maneuver and ended up cutting car off I was passing. No warning lamps until issue occurred, than every warning light came on!
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? ENGINE/OIL LEAK How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? IF THE OIL LEAKS OUT ENOUGH WHILE DRIVING THE MOTOR WILL CEASE UP, AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? YES Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? YES Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? NO, IT APPEARED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A BAD OIL CHANGE, BUT IT HAS ACCURED 2 MORE OIL CHANGES SINCE.
The exhaust manifold warps causing a leak in the manifold in the 3.5 Ecoboost engines. After research, it is a common problem with many Ford owners. This problem causes an emission leak, power loss, and distinct noise. I have not had this confirmed by a dealer as of yet, but it is a very common problem. My truck started having this problem around 45,000 miles. No warning lights or messages have been displayed.
Truck engine is stalling out while driving and coming to a stop. The engine turns off, but all electrical power remains. This has occurred six times in a two month period with the first occurrence happening on February 1, 2022. An engine stalling out while the truck is on the road way is a dangerous situation whether stopped at a red light or while in motion, but especially so if it were to occur while driving at high speeds on a highway. There were no warning messages or indication lights prior or subsequent to the occurrences. The truck was brought to the local Ford dealership on February 28, 2022. The service department at the dealership was unable to diagnose the issue because the computer did not provide them with a diagnosis. The truck is being brought back to the dealership for a second evaluation on March 6, 2022.
The cam phasers fail intermittently causing shuttering/stalling randomly while driving. A large amount of people have had this same issue. Truck will intermittently rev up while in gear. If you're not on the brake, you will move forward/backward. Tons of check engine lights etc
My wife and I were traveling to our home in the truck. When preparing to turn left off the main road, I noticed that the turn signals were not working, requiring me to go to the right off the side of the road, as there was heavy traffic behind us. While on the side of the road, I tried the windshield wipers, window sprayer, and turn signals. None were working. I turned the engine off and then restarted the truck, and limped home. After getting home, the truck was parked while looking for a mechanic to fix whatever was wrong with it. It was recommended to me that the "Wiper Multi-switch" be replaced. This did not eliminate the problem. I then arranged for the Ford Dealer, Woody Anderson Ford, to take the truck in and fix it. The Dealer says the truck has had a major electrical failure and doubts that can be fixed.
3.5L Ecoboost - Warped/broken exhaust manifold studs that is due to extreme heat produced by the twin turbos. There's no warning lights and by the time some symptoms starts developing, studs are probably broken or warped which causes a leakage prevents the manifold from properly dissipating the heat/exhaust which can possibly cause additional heat to be repelled back to the engine. Early signs could be a minor to moderate chirping sound that might radiate somewhere around the driver or front passenger lower console when accelerating while driving.
My local ford dealer found during a service request that the Driver’s side exhaust manifold has warped and broken studs for the manifold, causing an exhaust leak that poses a potential safety issue from gases leaking into the passenger cabin and creating a considerable amount of noise, as well as some performance loss.
Engine block exploded with less than 100,000 miles while moving forward after a stop sign, dropped all water through a side of an engine, lost power unable to move from road blocking traffic. Once token into a shop, melted metal was found on the engine cover, and a big hole was found on the engine head. A lot of engine smoke (CO2) was released and got into the cabin getting me sick and feeling dizzy for a whole week
While the engine is idling, whether in park, drive, or reverse the engine intermittently loses RPM and shuts off. The dealer claims they can not duplicate the issue. No messages appear other then the car is on battery power. This has been going on for about the last 20000 miles.
Several recalls on the same make and model as mine. Why is my truck not covered under recall. These issue should not happen to a vehicle 5 years old with less the. 85k miles and all work has been completed at lithos ford of boise where I purchased it.
After driving at highway speed for approx 1 hour, came to stop at red light. Vehicle idles rough, dropping to 250-300 rpm, then stalled in traffic, requiring restart. Third time this issue has occurred, all at stop signs or red lights.
Saw a small puddle under passenger side engine, had the work mechanic look at it and he said the turbo cooling line was leaking. Car has only 45,000 miles on it. Took car to own mechanic and he verified leak, we decided to replace other side on left side of engine as there a bit of weeping, while they were replacing the parts, he noticed my water pump was leaking and I told him to replace it as we don't need any issues. After all work was performed, the bill was close to $2, 700. The mechanic said with the low mileage on the truck, it was way too soon for any of these parts to fail.
Exhaust manifold faulty at 80,000 miles.. Engine broke at 99,000
This seems to be a known issue with the f-150 engines. I am having issues with the engine making noises and appears to be caused by a warped engine exhaust manifold. Ford has released a safety bulletin on this, but has not issued a recall even from the amount of people that are experiencing this issue.
Truck has an oil pan leak which FORD will not repair, but requires me to pay for the oil leak. It was a manufacturing defect and believe in time this could cause a fire down the road if it's not fixed.

Engine continues to stall / quit while driving. When idled in traffic and continued to drive , engine will stall. Most recently happen while completing left turn in intersection almost causing accident.
Stalls at when at idol at stop lights. mechanics can't find out why. No warnings lights in cash come on
Driving down Interstate 80 at 70mph and Track Assist error, then Hill Start Assist Unavailable Error, Wrench light (see manual), engine light. I depress the gas pedal and there is no response, the engine rpm does not increase. I have to pull off to the side of the interstate, towing a boat, luckily not in construction zone ahead with concrete barriers on both sides. Turn off and restart, the engine / rpm still do not respond. Turned off for 5 minutes while I make a call. Turn on again and rough idle but the engine responds and I am able to drive the remaining 15 miles to home. Exact thing happened again 4 days later on 2 lane, hilly, country highway without a shoulder. I stopped in the road, hazards on, turned off/on again, didn't respond to gas. Wait 5 minutes turned on again and was able to get to home.
FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL BACK IN 2019 FOR FAULTY OIL PANS. MY 2016 FORD F-150 HAS HAD 4 OIL PAN REPLACEMENTS AND IS NEEDING A 5TH. WHEN RUNNING A CARFAX, THE DEALERSHIP THAT HAS COMPLETED THE REPAIRS IS NOT REPORTING ANY OF THESE ISSUES. JACKSON FORD IN DECATUR, IL. THE ATTACHED PHOTO IS FROM THE TRUCK SITTING FOR 24 HOURS. WHEN I LOGGED ONTO THE NHTSA WEBSITE TO SEE IF MAYBE I COULD GET ANOTHER RECALL REPAIR AT A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP, NO ACTIVE RECALLS ARE OUT. I'D LIKE TO TRY JUST 1 MORE DEALERSHIP TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED.
EXHAUST MANIFOLD LEAK AT 45000 MILES.
Mileage: 44,800
WHEN TOWING AND COMING TO A STOP MY VEHICLE STALLS AND DIES. IT WILL NOT STAY RUNNING. TO KEEP IT RUNNING I HAVE TO PUT IN NEUTRAL AND PRESS THE GAS PEDAL TO KEEP IT RUNNING AND THEN PUT INTO GEAR AND TAKE OFF. THIS IS NOT SAFE. IT IS THE 2.7L ECOBOOST. I TOOK IT TO OUR LOCAL FORD WHERE IT HAPPENED TO THE TECH THAT TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR INSPECTION AND THEN THEY SAID THE SERVICE TECH COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THEY CHARGED ME $130 DIAGNOSIS FEE AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND THE ISSUE AND CALLED FOR ME TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE. THIS IS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.

2016 F-150 3.5L 4X4 ECOBOOST WITH MAX TOWING PACKAGE - VEHICLE SUDDENLY AND W/O WARNING CAUGHT FIRE AND ENGULFED IN FLAMES WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF HEARING A HUMMING SOUND AND THEN SEEING WHITE OR GRAY SMOKE. WE WERE TOWING OUR 28 FT TRAVEL TRAILER FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ABOUT 4-5 MONTHS, 30 MINUTES INTO THE TRIP ON A FLAT HIGHWAY. PULLED OVER WITHIN 1 MIN OF HEARING THE NOISE/ SEEING SMOKE. UPON EXITING, SAW FLAMES PEEKING OUT FROM UNDER FRONT OF TRUCK. FLAMES HIT THE CAB WITHIN PROBABLY 3 MINS LATER. WE HAD TOWED A 28 FT TRAVEL TRAILER WITH THIS VEHICLE EXTENSIVELY AND COMFORTABLY WITH FEW ISSUES (EXCEPT THROTTLE BODY FAILURE AROUND 30K MILES). REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE. FULL PA STATE INSPECTION 3 MONTHS PRIOR, OIL CHANGE 2K MILES PRIOR. NO OUTSTANDING RECALL WORK TO OUR KNOWLEDGE. NO UNUSUAL HANDLING, SMELLS, LEAKING FLUIDS THAT WE NOTICED, OR WARNING LIGHTS. FIRE INVESTIGATOR'S BEST GUESS WAS SUDDEN TRANSMISSION ISSUE BECAUSE IT COMPLETELY BURNED AWAY BUT WE'LL UNFORTUNATELY NEVER REALLY KNOW.
Mileage: 71,000
EXITING FROM INTERSTATE SPEED, COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AT LIGHT, TRUCK SHAKES AND STALLS. ABLE TO RESTART. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVER. HAD LEFT VEHICLE AT DEALER FOR 3-4 DAYS WITH NO ISSUE FOUND. FUEL TANK LEVEL WEATHER FULL OR 1/4 FULL STILL OCCURS.

THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO HIS DESTINATION. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED BOTH MANIFOLD WERE FRACTURED AND LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT BOTH MANIFOLDS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED MIKE WHITE FORD OF COEUR D'ALENE (315 W CLAYTON AVE, COEUR D'ALENE, ID 83815, (208) 664-9211) AND INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. EXHAUST MANIFOLD STUD BOLT BROKEN ON REAR OF DRIVERS SIDE MANIFOLD. MAKES A LOUD CHIRPING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING. MANY OTHER OWNERS COMPLAINING ABOUT SAME ISSUE ON THIS ECO BOOST 3.5L ENGINE.
TRUCK WILL STALL/SHUT OFF AT A STOP WHILE TOWING. RED BATTERY LIGHT WILL SHOW ON DASHBOARD. CAR WILL TURN OVER THEN SHUT DOWN AGAIN BY ITSELF WITHIN A FEW SECONDS. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AT THIS POINT- ONCE WHILE IN GAS STATION IN LINE TO GET GAS (STATIONARY) ONCE AT INTERSECTION (STATIONARY AT STOP LIGHT), ANOTHER TIME AFTER STOPPING VEHICLE TO GET GAS. AT FIRST EVENT 30 MINUTES AFTER IT NOT WORKING A JUMP STARTED THE VEHICLE SUCCESSFULLY, AT SECOND INSTANCE JUMP WOULD NOT START CAR, HAD TO GET TOWED, AT THIRD INSTANCE WE WERE ABLE TO START VEHICLE BY HOLDING THROTTLE DOWN WHILE PUTTING IN DRIVE. BROUGHT TO FORD DEALERSHIP- SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG, WOULD NOT WORK ON TRUCK, SAID NO COMPUTER CODES WERE FOUND.
Mileage: 38,500
MY 2016 FORD F-150, AT AROUND 68,000 MILES, BEGAN TO EXPERIENCED POWER LOSS AND A LOUD WHISTLE OR WHINING SOUND DURING ACCELERATION, COMING FROM THE FRONT LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE. DURING ACCELERATION, A HIGH-PITCHED WHINE OCCURS AND INCREASES WHEN REVVING THE ENGINE. TRUCK POWER LOSS WAS NOTICEABLE AND BOOST DECLINED, DROPPING TO LESS THAN 25%. EXHAUST FUMES WERE NOTICEABLE FROM INSIDE THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. DEPAUL FORD OF ALBANY, NY MISDIAGNOSED IT AS A BAD TURBO WITH A STUCK OPEN WASTEGATE AND SO WE REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE TURBO, WHICH DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE TRUCK WAS BROUGHT TO A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED MECHANIC 'TECHNICIAN', MATT, AT MILLER'S CORNERS GARAGE IN ALBANY, NY. HE DISCOVERED THE BOLTS AND STUDS THAT HOLD THE MANIFOLDS IN PLACE WERE SEVERELY RUSTED AND THE MANIFOLD WAS WARPED WITH SIGNIFICANT AIR LEAK AND BLOW BY. THERE WAS A LARGE BLACK SOOTY STREAK ON THE MANIFOLD SIDE WHERE THE TURBO HOOKS UP, WHERE THE BLOW-BY WAS OCCURRING. AT A COST OF $1100 THE PASSENGER SIDE MANIFOLD, HARDWARE AND RELATED COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED. THE DRIVER SIDE MANIFOLD IS NOT AVAILABLE FROM FORD UNTIL LATE DECEMBER AND STILL REQUIRES REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND IS DRIVEN IN UPSTATE NEW YORK. IT IS RARELY USED FOR TOWING. IT'S ABSURD TO THINK THAT A TRUCK WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE WOULD HAVE SUCH A SEVERE AND EXPENSIVE ISSUE, SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASING ENGINE POWER, REDUCING THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE AND BRINGING FUMES INTO THE CAB. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE.

WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE VEHICLE FEELS LIKE THE TIMING IS OFF. HESITATES AS YOU ROLL AT 50 OR 60MPH. THEN WHEN YOU EXIT FREEWAY AND ARE STOPPED AT LIGHT THE IDLE BECOMES ROUGH AND DROPS BELOW 500RPM. SEVERAL TIMES THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING WHILE WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO TURN GREEN. THE PREVIOUS OWNER NOTICED IT AS WELL AND SHE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET CHECKED. DEALER SAID THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND NO ERROR CODE SO CAN'T FIX IT. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER AFTER PURCHASE AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THEM WHAT TO LOOK FOR. FORD F150 OWNERS BOARD HAS LIST OF MANY PEOPLE WITH SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2014-2016 ERA TRUCKS. FIXES FROM THEIR POST SHOW REPLACEMENT OF 2 NEW CAM PHASERS AND NEW VCT SOLENOIDS REPAIRS THE ISSUE. VCT HAD LOCKED UP AND ALLOWED THE CAM TO JUMP BY TWO TEETH. SO VCT FAILURE WAS CAUSING THE TIMING TO BE OFF WHICH IS THE EFFECT I AM EXPERIENCING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE STALLING UPON STOPPING AT OFF RAMP LIGHT IS BECAUSE THE TIMING IS OFF. FORD WILL NOT REPAIR UNLESS CEL IS ON HOWEVER. I TOLD SERVICE TEAM MEMBER MY CONCERN ABOUT TAKING A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC AND HAVING THE ENGINE STALL MID LANE AND GETTING T-BONED.

MY 2016 FORD F150 RECENTLY STARTED WHISTLING AT THE 2500RPM POINT FROM THE FRONT END OF THE MY TRUCK. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP EXPECTING A VACUUM HOSE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAD WARPED AND BROKE OFF SOME OF THE MOUNTING BOLTS. I WAS A BIT SHOCKED SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS 102,000 MILES ON IT AND IT'S NOT BEEN ABUSED IN ANYWAY. UNFORTUNATELY, THE FACTORY WARRANTY RUNS OUT AT 100,000 MILES AND ON THE HOOK FOR THE COST OF THIS $1600+ (SO FAR) REPAIR. AFTER DOING A LITTLE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET IT DID NOT TAKE ME LONG TO DISCOVER THIS IS A VERY WELL KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 3.5L ECOBOOST ENGINE. THERE WERE A MULTITUDE OF WEBSITES AND YOUTUBE VIDEOS ADDRESSING THIS KNOWN PROBLEM WITH FOLKS QUITE UPSET THAT AN OFFICIAL RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED YET WITH A PROPER FIX/REPLACEMENT AND REIMBURSE THE OWNERS WHO HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR THE FIX. SEEMS LIKE IT'S NOT A MATTER OF IF IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN TO YOUR TRUCK...BUT WHEN. VERY DISAPPOINTING, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HEAR HOW MANY KNOWN ISSUES HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPORTED. EXHAUST FUMES LEAKING FROM THE ENGINE AND POSSIBLY INTO THE CAB...SHOULD TAKE A HIGH PRIORITY TO RESOLVE. LET'S GO FORD...MAKE IT RIGHT! THANK YOU.
Mileage: 102,000
THE ENGINE HAD BEEN DYING AT STOP SIGNS, RED LIGHTS, AND IN PARKING LOTS UP TO THIS POINT (IN DRIVE OR PARK) BUT ENDED UP STALLING EIGHT OR NINE TIMES ON THE INTERSTATE COMING THROUGH ATLANTA RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. THIS ALMOST CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS WHILE I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. THE DEALERSHIP HAS WORKED TO REPAIR THE ISSUE TWICE SO FAR. I HAVE MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY PLAN TO REPLACE THE VCT SOLENOIDS NEXT. FORD SHOULD ADMIT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND INITIATE A RECALL TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE ON ALL THESE VEHICLES BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.

I WAS RECENTLY PULLING A TRAVEL TRAILER DOWN A MOUNTAIN PASS WITH MY 2016 F150 WITH THE 3.5L ECOBOOST ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE LOSING POWER TO THE MOTOR, THE TRAVEL TRAILER STARTED 'FISH TAILING'!! THE 2 VEHICLES BEHIND ME LOCKED UP THEIR BRAKES (COULD VISIBLY SEE SMOKE), THE THIRD VEHICLE WAS SLOWER TO REACT AND PULLED OUT AND PASSED ALL 3 OF US NARROWLY AVOIDING A HEAD ON COLLISION! I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE SERVICE SHOP AND IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT WAS REPLACED....FOR THE 4TH TIME IN 94,000 MILES!!! THE PREVIOUS 2 TIMES THIS HAPPENED TO ME THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED (VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE), BUT THOSE TIMES I WAS DRIVING 75MPH DOWN A 5 LANE FREEWAY AND HAD TO CROSSOVER 5 LANES OF TRAFFIC WITH NO POWER TO MY ENGINE! VEHICLES SWERVING EVERYWHERE, PEOPLE LOCKING UP THEIR BRAKES....MINOR MIRACLE THERE WERE NO ACCIDENTS. I'VE FILED COMPLAINTS TO FORD ON EACH OCCASION AND THEY'VE DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT! IT'S A COMMON, WELL KNOWN PROBLEM THAT FORD IS AWARE OF AND SOMEBODY IS EVENTUALLY GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE! ASKING FOR HELP!

ON 9/6/2020, WHILE DRIVING APPROX 60MPH ON HWY 128 BETWEEN JAL AND CARLSBAD NM, THE BRAKE PEDAL ON MY 2016 FORD F150 LARIAT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD NO BRAKES. A MESSAGE ON MY DASH CAME UP SAYING TO ADD BRAKE FLUID AND I DID. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP, CARSLBAD FORD LINCOLN. THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BOOSTER HAD A RECALL AND WAS REPLACED, BUT THE BRAKE FLUID THAT LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE WAS NEVER ADDRESSED BY THE SERVICE AND REPAIR CENTER. AS A RESULT, I NOW HAVE OVER $6,000 WORTH OF COLLATERAL DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE THAT THE DEALERSHIP IS REFUSING TO FIX BECAUSE I'M BEING BLAMED FOR THE DAMAGES FOR ADDING BRAKE FLUID TO THE RESEVOIR. IT'S BEYOND OBVIOUS THAT THE ONLY WAY ANY BRAKE FLUID LEAKED INTO THE ENGINE WAS DUE TO THE DAMAGED MANUFACTURER PART(S), THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE BOOSTER, THAT WERE NOT ONLY DAMAGED BUT IN RECALL STATUS - RECALL# 20S31. THE GM AND SERVICE MANAGER OF THE CARSLBAD FORD LINCOLN DEALERSHIP HAVE THE POWER, THE SUPPORT AND BACKING OF A BEHEMOTH. THEY HAVE THE FULL SUPPORT OF THE GREAT AMERICAN AUTO GIANT FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND I HAVE 100% NOTHING AND NOBODY! THERE HAS TO BE SOME LAW OR SOME THING TO PROTECT YOUR EVERYDAY INNOCENT TAX PAYING AMERICAN CITIZEN FROM BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR THESE POWERFUL ENTITES AND/OR COMPANIES. I'M WRITING THIS COMPLAINT ON 9/27 AND THEY'VE HAD MY TRUCK SINCE 9/12; JUST OVER TWO WEEKS. I'M ISSUING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I LITERALLY CANNOT PAY FOR THE $6,212 WORTH OF REPAIRS THAT FORD MOTOR CO IS ACCOUNTABLE AND RESPONSIBLE FOR. ALSO, WITH (2) BLOWN TURBO CHARGERS, TUBE ASY, CONVERTER ASY, SENSORS ETC WHICH ALL NEED TO BE REPLACED; MY TRUCK IS NOT SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE AND OTHER CITIZENS COMMUNTING WITH OR WITHOUT THEIR FAMILIES ON AMERICAN HIGHWAYS SHOULDN'T BE SUBJECTED TO THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE BEING ON THE ROAD.

VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING BOTH FROM A STOP AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I SHUT OFF VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT WHICH SEEMED TO TEMPORARILY SOLVE THE PROBLEM ONLY TO HAVE IT REOCCUR DAYS LATER. ENGINE CODE REGISTERED ON THE DASH DISPLAY. CODE WAS RETRIEVED (P2112) WHICH CORRELATES TO A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS PROBLEM WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY REPLACEMENT, BUT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY, SO I WAS FORCED TO REPLACE IT MYSELF AND PAY FOR THE FAULTY PART. MY VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 36,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF THIS INCIDENT. WHEN THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER IN TRAFFIC, IT IS DEFINITELY A LIFE, HEALTH, SAFETY ISSUE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS EXAMPLES THAT CAN BE FOUND ON THE INTERNET OF THIS DEFECTIVE PART/THROTTLE BODY ON VARIOUS FORD VEHICLES. I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD INITIATE A RECALL FOR OBVIOUS SAFETY REASONS. FORD HAS PUT OUT VARIOUS TSB'S REGARDING THIS DOCUMENTED PROBLEM.

2016 FORD F150 V8 ENGINE. DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY, MY A/C COMPRESSOR WENT OUT. IT COMPLETELY LOCKED UP CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STALL AND BECOME DISABLED AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. SHORTLY AFTER, I LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES (AS A RESULT OF THE ENGINE LOSS) WHICH CREATED A SAFETY ISSUE ON A FREEWAY AT 10:30PM AT NIGHT AS I HAD TO GET THE VEHICLE OVER LANES OF TRAFFIC WITHOUT POWER STEERING AND EASE OF BRAKING AND BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP WITHOUT POWER ASSISTED BRAKES. THANKFULLY, WE WERE ABLE TO GET OVER, BUT I DON'T KNOW THAT EVERYONE WOULD BE SO LUCKY. I DON'T THINK AN A/C COMPRESSOR BREAKING INTERNALLY SHOULD DISABLE THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE UNLESS SOMETHING IS FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE COMPRESSOR. I COULD SEE ACCIDENTS OCCURRING AS A RESULT OF THE ENGINE BECOMING DISABLED.

I WAS IN THE LEFT TURN LANE TO ENTER THE ON-RAMP TO US65 SOUTH WHEN THIS HAPPENED SO I PULLED OFF TO THE SHOULDER TO INVESTIGATE. I HAD JUST PUT MY TRUCK IN PARK WHEN A CAR PULLED UP AND SAID THAT MY ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. WHEN I GOT OUT TO LOOK, THE FIRE WAS ROLLING OUT FROM UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL WELL. AS WELL, THERE WAS EITHER A FLUID OR MELTED PLASTIC DRIPPING DOWN TO THE ASPHALT THAT WAS ALSO ON FIRE. THE FIRE APPEARED TO PUT ITSELF OUT, FOR THE MOST PART, PRIOR TO THE FIRE COMPANY ARRIVING WITHIN THE NEXT 10 MINUTES. I HAD, WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE AT THE TIME, RECALL WORK DONE BY MIKE RAISOR FORD IN LAFAYETTE, IN, LESS THAN 1 YEAR AGO. IN THAT RECALL WORK, I THOUGHT THE BLOCK HEATER WAS DISCONNECTED SO AS TO PREVENT AN ENGINE FIRE SUCH AS THIS. NOW, I AM HAVING DOUBTS AS TO WHETHER THIS WAS COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED. ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS WILL FLASH ON THE DASHBOARD SUCH AS THE COLLISION DETECTION BEING DISABLED AND THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL HAS BEEN DISABLED. AS SOON AS THESE WARNINGS APPEAR, THE TRUCK'S ACCELERATION IS DISABLED AND IT WILL COAST TO STOP, BUT HE TRUCK IS STILL RUNNING. IT REMAINS IN A LOW IDLE THAT IS VERY ROUGH, VIBRATING THE ENTIRE TRUCK LIKE IT'S ABOUT TO KILL THE ENGINE, BUT BARELY KEEPING THE IDLE HIGH ENOUGH TO KEEP IT GOING. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO, BUT TRY TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. ONCE STOPPED, YOU CAN PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND BACK ON. SOMETIMES ONLY ONE RESTART IS REQUIRED, BUT SOMETIMES IT WILL DO THE SAME THING AGAIN SHORTLY AFTER YOU BEGIN DRIVING AGAIN. THIS CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THIS CAN HAPPEN IN AN INTERSECTION, HIGHWAY, OR FREEWAY. THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN THIS IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN.

THEY COVERED THE COST DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING UNDER WARRANTY WHICH WAS ABOUT $5,000. $ MONTHS LATER I GOT MY VEHICLE BACK AND ABOUT 30 MILES OF DRIVING 55MPH IT STARTED BLOWING A THICK CLOUD OF WHITE SMOKE WITH SOME GREY SMOKE. I TAKE THE VEHICLE HOME AND LET IT SIT FOR 28 DAYS BEFORE I HAVE TO USE IT AND AFTER ABOUT 23 MILES IT STARTED SMOKING AGAIN. I TAKE IT TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND I TOLD THEM ABOUT THE SMOKING ISSUE, ROUGH IDLE AND THE EXHAUST SMELLS LIKE GAS WHICH IS NOT NORMAL. I SHOWED THEM A VIDEO OF THE ISSUE WHICH CONTAINS MY MILEAGE AT THE TIME AND MY LICENSE PLATE WHICH CLEARLY SHOWS MY VEHICLE SO THEY CANNOT SAY IT WASN'T MY VEHICLE. WAITING FOR THE RESULTS OF THEIR FINDINGS AND PLAN TO UPDATE THE COMPLAINT. I WILL NOT UPLOAD THE VIDEO AT THIS TIME DUE TO IT CONTAINING MY LICENSE PLATE, DON'T KNOW HOW TO UPLOAD IT FROM PHONE AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO EDIT THAT OUT. IF IT IS NECESSARY TO UPDATE THIS COMPLAINT I WILL UPLOAD THE VIDEO AS PROOF AS WELL AS WORK ORDER FROM PREVIOUS AND CURRENT WORK.MY MILEAGE WILL NOT BE 100% ACCURATE BUT IT WILL BE WITHIN 400 MILES PLUS OR MINUS

HILL DESCENT CONTROL FAULT/ SERVICE ADVANCETRAC WARNING SUDDENLY TURNED ON. ALTERNATED W SERVICE LIGHT. BUT I WAS JUST DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON A 70 DEGREE DAY ON A DRY PAVED ROAD DECELERATING FROM A 40MPH ZONE TO A 30 MPH ZONE UP A SLIGHT INCLINE. I WASN'T USING HILL DESCENT AND TRACTION WAS FINE. THE DISTURBING PART WAS THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY RAN ROUGH AND HAD NO POWER. I COULD NOT GET IT TO RUN WELL ENOUGH PULL IT OVER OUT OF THE TRAFFIC LANE. AN ON OFF CYCLE RETURNED FUNCTION FOR A FEW SECONDS AND I GOT AROUND THE CORNER BEFORE THE FAULT OCCURRED AGAIN. WITH NO HILLS THE LAST BLOCK I GOT TO MY DRIVEWAY WHERE A LONGER OFF PERIOD RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO FUNCTION. THIS TYPE OF SUDDEN POWER LOSS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

TRUCK EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE SENSOR FAILURES OVER SEVERAL MONTHS THAT RESET. FAILURES INCLUDE CAR STALLING IN INTERSECTION, BLIND SPOT MONITORING, BACK UP SENSORS, CAR SHUTTING OFF AND TURNING BACK ON ON ITS OWN. CAR HAD TO BE POWERED DOWN AND SHUT OFF FOR 30 SECONDS BEFORE BEING ALLOWED TO RESTART. MOST RECENT FAILURE RESULTED IN TRUCK HORN GOING OFF AS WELL AS CAR TURNING OFF WHILE GOING 35-40 MPH THEN RESTARTING ON ITS OWN - CAR SURGED FORWARD AFTER IT RESTARTED ITSELF. AT THE SAME TIME HAZARDS COMING ON, DOORS UNLOCKING AND LOCKING AND REAR TAILGATE OPENING. AFTER BRINGING CAR TO A COMPLETE STOP, SHUT OFF CAR AND IT TURNED ITSELF BACK ON (HORN WENT OFF, HAZARDS WENT ON, DOORS UNLOCKED AND LOCKED, AND REAR TAIL GATE RELEASED). TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM.

MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN IT SUDDENLY ENTERED A LIMP MODE, INDICATED BY MULTIPLE DASH WARNING LIGHTS AND AN ABRUPT LOSS OF POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE TO OPERATE IN SUCH CONDITION. FORD HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY USED ON THESE MOTORS, BUT HAS FAILED TO ISSUE A RECALL ON A PART THAT COULD CAUSE GREAT BODILY HARM AND INJURY IF IT SHOULD FAIL IN HEAVY TRAFFIC SCENARIOS.

STARTED DRIVING AM FOR ABOUT 5-7 MILES AND GETTING ON AN ON RAMP TO FREEWAY VEHICLE SUDDENLY HAD NO POWER AND IDLE VERY ROUGH/ COULD NOT ACCELERATE AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT, HILL ASSIST NOT ACTIVE AND ANOTHER SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF ROAD AND SAT FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS, TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND RE STARTED, NO FAULT WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON AND ALL WAS FINE. DROVE 22 MILES TO DEWEY FORD IN ANKENY, IOWA TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY ASKED IF ANY FAULT LIGHTS WERE STILL ON AND I SAID NO AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WITHOUT A FAULT LIGHT BEING ON. THEY SAID IT COULD BE WATER IN THE FUEL AND SUGGESTED A COUPLE CANS OF SEA FOAM AND TO TOP FUEL OFF WITH PREMIUM/NO ALCOHOL. DID THAT, DROVE AN ADDITIONAL 22 MILES WITH OUT ANY PROBLEMS. RESEARCHED SIMILAR PROBLEMS BY OTHERS AND ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY CAME UP. WILL UPDATE IF I HAVE ANOTHER INCIDENT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, "SEE SERVICE MANUAL, TRACTION CONTROL NOT AVAILABLE, CHECK ENGINE" ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DID NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO A COMPLETE STOP AS IT BEGAN TO SHAKE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS WENT AWAY AND THEN ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY ERROR/MAINTENANCE ALARMS GO OFF AND THE TRUCK WILL DROP TO A ROUGH IDLE (TOTAL LOSS OF POWER), IS NOT RESPONSIVE TO THROTTLE INPUT, AND MULTIPLE ALARM MESSAGES ARE DISPLAYED. IN EVERY CASE, I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER, SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN, WAIT UNTIL ALL SYSTEMS HAVE POWERED DOWN, AND RESTART THE TRUCK. IN THE PAST AND THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE, SOMETIMES THIS ONLY OCCURS ONCE BUT IN A COUPLE OF INSTANCES IT WILL OCCUR A COUPLE OF TIMES IN A ROW BEFORE RESUMING NORMAL OPERATION. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION- TOTAL LOSS OF POWER WHILE IN TRAFFIC ON BUSY ROADS. FORD HAS DIAGNOSED AS AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE AND REFUSED TO COVER THIS ON WARRANTY (OUT OF WARRANTY 3 MOS) AND IT HAS TAKEN MUCH RESEARCH ON MY PART TO DISCOVER THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD ETB'S GOING BACK SOME TIME WITH OVER 60K FAILURE REPORTS OVER MANY DIFFERENT VEHICLES.

THROTTLE BODY FAILURE: FIRST OCCURRED ON ORIGINAL THROTTLE BODY (OEM PART) IN 2018. VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON AND STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT. HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING, DIAGNOSED AT FORD DEALERSHIP. REPLACED ORIGINAL THROTTLE BODY WITH NEW OEM THROTTLE BOTTLE. SECOND OCCURRENCE ON REPLACEMENT THROTTLE BODY (OEM PART) IN JUNE 2019. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON AN INTERSTATE, WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, PUTTING THE TRUCK IN LIMP MODE AND THE TRUCK STALLED. I PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE, TURNED THE TRUCK OFF, WAITED SEVERAL MINUTES AND TURNED VEHICLE BACK ON. CLEARED THE FAULT AND WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVE WITH LOUD KNOCKING SOUND OCCURRING LIKE IN THE FIRST INSTANCE.

WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 45 MPH, ALL OF A SUDDEN ADVANCE TRACK SERVICE WARNING APPEARED, HILL DESCENT OFF, AND TRUCK LOST ALL POWER AND BEGAN TO IDEA ROUGHLY, COULD NOT ACCELERATE, WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. FORTUNATELY I HAVE A MECHANICAL BACKGROUND, TURNED OFF IGNITION WAITED A MINUTE AND TRIED TO RESTART THE TRUCK, CRANKED HARDER THAN NORMAL, ENGINE SERVICE LITE WAS ON, TURNED OFF ADVANCE TRACK AND WENT A FEW MILES AND HAPPENED AGAIN. WENT THROUGH SAME STEPS AND RESTARTED VEHICLE, WAS ABLE TO DRIVE 10 MILES TO HOME. WHEN I STARTED THE TRUCK THIS MORNING THE ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT WAS OFF, WENT A FEW MILES AND SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS IS A DEFINITE SERIOUS ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. IF YOU ARE ON AN INTERSTATE GO 70 MPH IN TRAFFIC AND THIS WOULD HAPPEN MOST PEOPLE WOULD NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO. I'VE BOUGHT MY 2016 F150 XLT FX4 SC 5.0L USED WITH ABOUT 69K MILES ON IT AND HAD IT FOR NEARLY A YEAR NOW. SINCE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK IT WILL DEVELOP A ROUGH IDLE AND WILL STALL WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT. THIS WILL HAPPEN WHEN I MAKE A MULTI STOP TRIP, FOR EXAMPLE IF I STOP AT THE MARKET ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK, OR SOMETIMES EVEN JUST RETURNING HOME FROM WORK. SO FAR THIS ISSUE HAS ONLY HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS. OUTSIDE TEMPS ARE NO FACTORS AS THIS HAPPENS IN COLD WINTERY CONDITIONS OR HOT AND HUMID WEATHER. EVERY TIME THE TRUCK STALLS, THE CEL DOES NOT COME ON OR ANY OTHER DASH LIGHT EXCEPT THE BATTERY LIGHT AND I CAN RESTART THE TRUCK IMMEDIATELY WITH NO ISSUES. AFTER THE TRUCK RESTARTS THERE IS NO FAULT LIGHT ON THE DASH AND TRUCK ACTS LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY STORED CODES OR PENDING CODES PERTAINING TO THIS ISSUE. THE REPAIR SHOP WAS ALSO ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE BUT ALSO NOTICED A STRONG SMELL FROM THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. AT THE MOMENT, IT IS UNKNOWN WHAT'S CAUSING MY TRUCK TO IDLE ROUGHLY AND STALL.

WE JUST TOOK MY 2016 F150 ECOBOOST TO WEST TEXAS OVER THANKSGIVING. TOWED UNDER 7500 LBS. TOWED COMPLETELY NORMAL THE WHOLE TIME (15 HOURS) UNTIL THE RETURN TRIP HOME. ABOUT 2.5 HOURS INTO MY RETURN TRIP (I WAS TOWING WITHOUT MY HUSBAND AND WITH TWO YOUNG KIDS ON A BACK HIGHWAY WITH NO CELL SERVICE AND ABSOLUTELY NO STOPS FOR 2 OF THOSE HOURS😯) I PULLED OVER TO SEE WHERE MY NEXT GAS STATION WAS AND MY TRUCK DIED. IT WOULD RESTART BUT WOULD DIE AGAIN. I FINALLY FIGURE I'M SCREWED, I'LL TRY AND JUST HIT THE GAS AND GO. SO I TOOK OFF AND BLEW THROUGH A STOP SIGN AND DIDN'T STOP UNTIL I REACHED A GAS STATION, WHERE IT DIED WHEN I STOPPED.. IT WAS SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND ALL THE REPAIR SHOPS WERE CLOSED AND THERE WEREN'T ANY PARTS STORES OPEN. I FINALLY UNPLUGGED THE CAMPER, THINKING IT WAS DRAINING MY BATTERY AND STARTED IT UP AND GASSED IT TO GET IT GOING AND DIDN'T STOP UNTIL I REACHED SONORA AND CAMPED FOR THE NIGHT, ABOUT 20 MILES AWAY. AND THEN MY TRUCK WAS TOTALLY FINE AFTER THAT. I NEVER HOOKED THE CAMPER BACK UP AND I HAD FILLED UP THE GAS TANK AND PUT FUEL INJECTION CLEANER INTO THE TANK AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY MORE STALLS. THE ONLY LIGHT THAT CAME ON WHEN IT STALLED WAS THE BATTERY LIGHT.

I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK TO DEALER FOR MANY MULTIPLE ISSUES INVOLVING ELECTRICAL SINCE APPROXIMATELY 6600 MILES BEGINNING WITH SHAKING WHEN I SLOWED DOWN WITHOUT UTILIZING BRAKES. SINCE THEN I'VE BEEN AT THE DEALER WITH MANY ELECTRICAL ISSUES WHERE TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND ALL LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING AND VERY UNSAFE. WHEN I WOULD ATTEMPT TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN I WOULD PROCEED TO CROSS OPPOSING LANES AND VEHICLE WOULD FEEL LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL AND ALMOST WAS STRUCK ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. VEHICLE HAS ALSO OVER ACCELERATED VERY EARLY IN OWNERSHIP. MOST RECENTLY AND I PICKED UP MY TRUCK AND A WEEK LATER SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THAT CREATE A GREAT DANGER TO MYSELF AS WELL AS OTHER MOTORISTS. CERTAINLY I CANNOT BE THE ONLY PERSON WHO LITERALLY AS OF THE FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER 2015 RECEIVED MY ORDERED TRUCK AND NOW AFTER 3 YEARS HAS HAD SO MANY CLOSE CALLS WHEN OPERATING THE VEHICLE. ALL TIMES THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATIONAL AND RUNS VERY ROUGH PRIOR TO HAPPENING. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND VIDEO THE TRUCKS CAMERA AND OTHER ITEMS GOING ON AND OFF DURING OPERATION. THE VEHICLE HESITATES, IDLES ROUGHLY WHEN COLD AND MAKES A KNOCKING TYPE NOISE AT IDLE WHEN HOT. THE COOLANT LEVEL HAS GONE DOWN SUBSTANTIALLY DESPITE HAVING IT SERVICED RECENTLY. WE HAVE EXPERIENCED LARGE AMOUNTS OF WATER DRIPPING FROM THE TAIL PIPE ALONG WITH THE OCCASIONAL PUFF OF THICK SMOKE. THE VEHICLE MISFIRES AND IT HAS BEEN VERIFIED BY A SCAN TOOL (MY OWN AND FORDS). FORD'S TECHNICIANS HAVE VERIFIED THE CONCERN BUT HAVE TOLD US THAT WITHOUT A HARD FAULT, THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM FURTHER. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION. WHILE IT MAY BE RELATED OR UNRELATED, THE TRANSMISSION ALSO JERKS WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND HAS A TENDENCY TO LURCH FORWARD WHEN GOING FROM 3-2-1 GEARS. THIS HAS ALSO BEEN VERIFIED BY FORD AND THEY HAVE MADE TWO ATTEMPTS USING TSB 16-0015 TO RESOLVE WITHOUT ANY IMPROVEMENT.

ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME EXPERIENCE AS INCIDENT NUMBERS 11090030, 11063919, AND 11048673. THERE MAY BE OTHERS, BUT, I DIDN'T GO ANY FURTHER. I WAS DRIVING ON A BRIDGE WITHOUT ANY SAFETY SHOULDERS AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER, "HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE" INDICATOR CAME ON, "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" INDICATOR CAME ON, AND "SEE MANUAL" INDICATOR CAME ON WITH THE WRENCH SYMBOL. AFTER NEARLY BEING REAR-ENDED BY ANOTHER CAR, I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO AN OFF RAMP AND PULL OVER. THE TRUCK WAS SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I SHUT IT OFF AND THEN RESTARTED IT AND WAS ABLE TO GET BACK OVER THE BRIDGE BUT THEN THE SAME EXACT SCENARIO HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE OTHER SIDE. ON THE WAY HOME, IT HAPPENED A COUPLE MORE TIMES BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET IT HOME. I SCHEDULED A SERVICE APPOINTMENT AT A FORD DEALER TO TAKE THE TRUCK IN ON MONDAY. SERVICE NEEDED FOR HILL ASSIST AND ADVANCE TRAC, OR SOMETHING SIMILAR. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME, HALF MILE, AT A WALKING PACE WHICH WAS AS FAST AS THE TRUCK WOULD GO. THERE WAS NO WARNING. THIS IS A DEADLY FLAW. HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE FORD F150 IN YOUR DATABASE?

TRUCK LOST ENGINE POWER. TRUCK WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR DID NOTHING. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STILL FUNCTIONED (POWER STEERING AND LIGHTS) AND BRAKES WORKED NORMALLY. WHEN THIS OCCURRED, THE TRUCK STARTED DINGING, THE AIRBAG LIGHT LIT UP, AND THE PRODUCTIVITY SCREEN SHOWED A 'HILL DESCENT CONTROL DISABLED' ERROR MESSAGE, AIRBAG ERROR, OTHER ERRORS AND THE WRENCH ICON. ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT IDLING VERY ROUGH, LIKE IT HAD DROPPED A CYLINDER, AND THE TRUCK WAS SHUDDERING AS IT WAS IDLING BOTH IN GEAR, AND IN PARK. RESUMED NORMAL OPS ON RESTART. DEALER REPLACE THROTTLE BODY UNDER TSB-16-0193 BUT THIS SHOULD BE ELEVATED TO A FULL RECALL

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST TOTAL POWER AS IT RUMBLED AND SHOOK. ALSO, VARIOUS WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED, INCLUDING THE POWERTRAIN FAULT, STABILITY CONTROL, AIR BAG, AND CHECK SERVICE MANUAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RUNNING BOARD FAILED TO RETRACT. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FORD & LINCOLN OF SMITHTOWN (440 JERICHO TURNPIKE, ST JAMES, NY 11780(631) 265-2340), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED OR DIAGNOSED. WHEN THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL HOURS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000.

2016 F150 WITH THE 2.7L ECOBOOST RANDOMLY DIES AFTER STARTUP. SOMETIMES IT WILL DIE WHILE IN MOTION ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THERE'S NO STORED CODES FOR THE DEALER. IT'S BEEN IN THE SHOP 6 TIMES TOTAL. THE FIRST TIME THEY PUT A CRANKCASE VENT SENSOR AND THEN THE 2ND TIME SPARKPLUGS. IT'S DIES AND GONE INTO LIMP MODE MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THE DEALER CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO THEY CAN'T FIX IT. IT STARTED AT 9,000 MILES AND IT NOW HAS 14,000 MILES. I'M PRETTY SURE IT'S THE THROTTLE BODY BUT THEY WON'T REPLACE IT WITHOUT A CODE. IT HAS HAPPENED RANDOMLY FROM MARCH 2017 UNTIL TODAY 8-13-17. I ALSO HAVE A RECORDING SAVED ON MY SNAP-ON SCAN TOOL OF THE PARAMETERS AT THE TIME IT WENT INTO LIMP MODE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING, COMPLETELY LOST POWER, AND HAD VERY LIMITED BRAKING FUNCTIONALITY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. FORD OF MONROEVILLE, ALABAMA WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REPLACED THE ABS AND BRAKE SENSORS, AND REPROGRAMMED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AT LEAST SEVEN TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS-12779235. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,558.

ENGINE CUTS OUT WITH ERROR LIGHTS ON DASH, NO THROTTLE RESPONSE OR POWER. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENED ON A BUSY INTERSTATE AT AROUND 70MPH. WE HAD TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT POWER NARROWLY AVOIDING OTHER VEHICLES AND LARGE TRUCKS. THIS FAULT ENDANGERED THE LIFE OF MY FAMILY!! THEY HAVE TRIED TO REPAIR THIS VEHICLE ALREADY BY REPLACING THE THROTTLE PEDAL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE MADE NOISES FROM THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION AREAS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CONSUMED TOO MUCH FUEL AND THE AIR CONDITIONING BLEW HOT AIR. ALSO, THE OIL LOW PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND FLASHED OFF AND ON. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKES SQUEAKED AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE DEFLATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (KOONS FORD IN STERLING, VA) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DEALER FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND, DURING ONE OF THE VISITS, THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED WITHOUT THE CONTACT'S CONSENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COMPLETELY REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40.

TAKATA RECALL THE ENGINE BLEW UP AFTER 3,400. SUCKED ALL THE OIL IN THE EXHAUST WHILE IT WAS IDLING IN DEALERSHIP PARKING LOT. CALLED ME UP TOLD MY ENGINE BLEW UP ON THEM. THERE IS 6 MONTH RUN OF BAD ENGINE AND FORD KNOWLY SOLD ME A TRUCK MADE DURING THOSE DATES.
ENGINE STALLS AND/OR DIES WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE ON A NEW 2016 F-150. DURING NORMAL DRIVING, THE TRUCK MECHANICALLY SHUTS DOWN CAUSING A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD TO ME AND OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON IF YOU SEARCH ONLINE! THE FORD REPAIR SHOP CANNOT IDENTIFY THE ISSUE, THEY SAY.

ON 1/25/16, IN THE RAIN, AT 6 AM, I PULLED OUT FROM A SIDE STREET NEAR MY RESIDENCE ON TO A MAJOR ROAD AND WAS INCREASING SPEED. I TRAVELED ABOUT 150 YARDS AND WAS UP TO ABOUT 40 MPH. MY TRUCK SUDDENLY DECELERATED TO ABOUT 5 MPH VERY QUICKLY CAUSING MY CAR TO SKID IN THE RAIN. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT SINCE TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AT THE TIME, SO I PULLED INTO THE MEDIAN AND PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK TO SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND I COULD NOT DISCOVER ANYTHING WRONG. I THEN PUT THE TRUCK IN GEAR AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN BUT THE CAR WOULD SPEED UP TO ABOUT 15 MPH AND THEN DECELERATE VERY QUICKLY, ALMOST GIVING IT A BUCKING MOTION. AFTER A FEW SECONDS THE TRUCK SEEMED TO WANT TO DIE, IT WOULD MOVE AND THEN SEEM TO WANT TO STOP AND DIE, AND THEN REPEAT THE PROCESS. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PARK IN A PARKING LOT. I HAD MY TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER LOOKED AT IT BUT SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING AND HAD NEVER HEARD OF THAT HAPPENING TO ANYONE BEFORE. I LOOKED ON THE NHTSA SITE AND FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAD HAD THIS OCCUR IN THIS MODEL. THE WORK ORDER RECEIVED FROM THE DEALER DID NOT INDICATE THAT ANYTHING WAS ADJUSTED OR REPLACED. TO DATE IT HAS NOT REOCCURRED.

WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 20 MPH THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD, VEHICLE LURCHED AND JERKED WITH A LARGE THUD. THUD WAS ENGINE FAILING DUE TO NO OIL PRESSURE - OIL NOT GETTING TO ENGINE. LIMPED HOME, CAR NOT ABLE TO GO MORE THAN 30 MPH TO DRIVE TO DEALERSHIP. NOT SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS. HAD WE BEEN ON HIGHWAY, MUCH BIGGER ISSUE COULD HAVE OCCURRED - WE WERE ABLE TO STOP SAFELY AS WE WERE IN OUR OWN NEIGHBORHOOD. FORD IS REPLACING ENGINE BUT [XXX] (SERVICE MANAGER AT WALKER FORD, CLEARWATER FLORIDA) HAS TOLD US THIS IS THE FOURTH 2016 F150 THAT HAS COME BACK TO THEIR DEALERSHIP FOR A FULL ENGINE REPLACEMENT, AND DECISION WAS MADE TO CONTINUE SELLING BECAUSE PERCENTAGE OF AFFECTED VEHICLES IS A GAMBLE. WE BOUGHT TRUCK 1/2/17, ENGINE FAILURE OCCURRED 1/26/17 AT ODOMETER READING OF 844 MILES. DEALERSHIP IN POSSESSION OF TRUCK SINCE 1/27/17. THE TRUCK HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THE HILLASSIST FAILURE, THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THEN WRENCH LIGHT CAUSING THE TRUCK TO GO FROM 45 MPH TO 2MPH WITHOUT NOTICE. THE THROTTLE BOTTLE ALSO WENT OUT ON THIS TRUCK CAUSING THE TRUCK TO GO FROM 45 MPH TO 2 MPH IN TRAFFIC, THIS IS THE FORD WRENCH LIGHT. ON TWO SEPERATE OCCASIONS, WHEN STARTING THE TRUCK AND RELEASING THE PARKING BRAKE, A PARKING BRAKE MALFUNCTION LIGHT FLASHES, THEN WHEN TRYING TO MOVE THE TRUCK INTO GEAR IT WILL MOVE FROM PARK TO DRIVE TO REVERSE, BUT WILL NOT MOVE. PLEASE CONTACT ME ASAP. I HAVE A DETAILED LIST OF DATES AND OCCURANCES ALONG WITH ALL EMAIL CONVERSATIONS WITH FORD. FORD SOES NOT BELIEVE THIS IS A PROBLEM AND SEEMS TO IGNORE THE SAFETY CONCERNS.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 60MPH MY FORD 2016 F150 3.5L V6 LURCHED AND STALLED, EXPERIENCING A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER, THROTTLE CONTROL AND ACCELERATION. THIS WAS THE 7TH THROTTLE MALFUNCTION MY F150 HAS EXPERIENCED IN THE PAST 5 MONTHS. EACH MALFUNCTION EXACTLY THE SAME. SINCE I AM NOW FORCED TO ONLY TRAVEL IN THE FAR RIGHT LANES FOR SAFETY, I HAD ENOUGH REMAINING MOMENTUM TO VEER MY F150 OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AND BRING IT TO A COMPLETE STOP. WITH SOME EFFORT MY F150 STRUGGLED BUT WAS ABLE TO RESTART AND TRAVELING A LOW SPEEDS I MADE IT SAFELY HOME. DUE TO THE DANGEROUS NATURE OF THIS INCIDENT I HAVE TAKEN MY F150 TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE SO FAR. FORD BELIEVES THE ISSUE IS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, BUT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. MOST RECENTLY I RECEIVED MY F150 FROM THE DEALER ONLY 4 SHORT DAYS AGO WHERE THEY REPLACED THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, BUT IT HAD NO EFFECT, THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THE MALFUNCTION ONLY OCCURS DURING THE MOST DANGEROUS PERIODS OF DRIVING, WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY/FREEWAY. THIS MALFUNCTION PUTS THE SAFETY OF THE DRIVERS AND THEIR FAMILIES AT RISK UNNECESSARILY. I HAVE AVOIDED COLLISIONS ONLY BY DRIVING AND STAYING IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE AT ALL TIMES. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE EXPERIENCES THIS PROBLEM TRAVELING AT 65MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND DUE TO A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND COMPLETE ACCELERATION CAUSES A SIGNIFICANT TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. I HOPE THIS NEVER HAPPENS BUT IT IS MY GRAVE AND REAL CONCERN FOR MY OWN WELFARE EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY 2016 F150.

WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, VEHICLE'S LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE ILLUMINATED, VEHICLE'S SPEED DROPPED TO COASTING LEVEL AND HAD TO PULL TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY WITH NO ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE THERE IS LOSS OF POWER AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART. OIL LEVEL WAS CHECKED AND WAS NEAR THE HIGH MARK. THE VEHICLE HAS 316 MILES ON IT AND HAD TO BE TOWED.

2016 FORD F-150 2.7L ECOBOOST MODEL WITH ONLY 3,928 MILES. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME ENGINE HAS CUT OFF ON ME WHILE DRIVING/ACCELERATING! WAS TAKING A LEFT TURN FROM SIDE ROAD ONTO MAIN ROAD. WHILE ACCELERATING IN THE TURN, ENGINE STARTED STUTTERING A FEW TIMES (RPMS WOULD DIP) AND THEN IT STALLED OUT. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE MY LEFT HAND TURN WITHOUT GETTING HITTING BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY. THIS TIME AROUND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART. HAD TO CALL FORD'S ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO GET TOWED TO NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THE LAST TWO INSTANCES THE DEALER COULD NOT PULL A CODE OR DIAGNOSE WHAT WAS WRONG SO NOTHING WAS DONE. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP HAS A DEAD TRUCK ON ARRIVAL SO THEY CAN'T TELL ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT (SERVICE AND DIAGNOSTICS HAS YET TO BE COMPLETED AT THE TIME OF THIS WRITING). I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH FORD REGIONAL REP REGARDING MY CASES AND I AM TOLD THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL THE DEALER CAN DIAGNOSE WHAT THE ROOT CAUSE IS. OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING IS WRONG. THERE ARE DOZENS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS OF ENGINE STALLING WHILE DRIVING.

WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE LEVEL TERRAIN AND A STATIONARY CRUISE AT 70 MPH, THE WRENCH ICON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED WITH A MESSAGE TO "SEE MANUAL" AT THE SAME TIME THE ENGINE BECAME UNRESPONSIVE TO ACCELERATOR PEDAL INPUT. THE LIMP HOME MODE WAS NOT WORKING AND WE COULD NOT GET THE TRUCK MOVING AGAIN AFTER STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO SHUT THE IGNITION OFF FOR ABOUT 2 MIN WHILE I LOOKED UP THE WARNING LIGHTS IN THE MANUAL (ONLY STATED TO SEE DEALER IMMEADIATLY) AFTERWARDS WE WERE ABLE TO START AND DRIVE THE TRUCK TO THE NEXT EXIT AND HOME APPROXIMATELY 4 MILES. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS ENCOUNTER AND WERE ALMOST HIT BY 2 SEMI TRUCKS WHILE TRYING TO COAST OVER TO THE SHOULDER. WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE SINCE NEW AND HAD 8,827 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE SHUT DOWN.

WAS STOPPED AT RED LIGHT IN GREENSBORO NC. LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND I STARTED TO DRIVE STRAIGHT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WHEN THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF THROTTLE RESPONSE. I HAD TO FINISH GOING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION BY MOMENTUM OF THE VEHICLE AND GRAVITY SINCE THERE WAS NO POWER. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE AT THE INTERSECTION OR I'M SURE I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT. WAS TOLD BY LOCAL FORD DEALER, GREEN FORD, PROBLEM WAS A DEFECTIVE "THROTTLE BODY". 2ND FORD VEHICLE I HAVE BEEN IN, IN LESS THAN A MONTH, THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED (2015 F150-SAME DEFECT - THROTTLE BODY). HUGE CONCERN FOR SAFETY OF THOSE OF US WHO DRIVE FORDS.

SECOND TIME ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING IN LESS THAN 2 WEEKS!!! 2016 FORD F-150 XLT 2.7L ECO-BOOST MODEL. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE ENGINE HAS STALLED AND SHUT OFF DURING DRIVING! NOT EVEN 3,600 MILES ON IT YET. TYPICAL STOP AND GO TRAFFIC DURING RUSH HOUR. WENT TO ACCELERATE AFTER ROLLING ALONG WITH TRAFFIC (<10 MPH) AND NOTHING HAPPENS. TACHOMETER STAYS AT AROUND 500 RPM AND DOES NOT GO ANYWHERE. SINCE THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN WITHIN THE LAST 2 WEEKS SO I WASN'T TOO SURPRISED THIS TIME AROUND. I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND SHUT OFF IGNITION AND TRY CRANKING IT. RPMS WOULD BARELY STUTTER AROUND 400-500 RPM AND WOULD NOT STAY ON. TRIED A FEW MORE ATTEMPTS WHILE STILL ROLLING IN NEUTRAL. I HAD TO BRAKE TO A STOP, PUT IT IN PARK, AND HAD ATTEMPTED TO CRANK IT SEVERAL MORE TIMES UNTIL IT FINALLY STARTED UP AND WAS IDLING CORRECTLY AROUND 800-900 RPM. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY. DEALER SAYS OEM HAS KNOWN ISSUE WITH THROTTLE BODY CAUSING FORD VEHICLES TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. UNFORTUNATELY, DEALER SAYS MY VIN IS NOT PART OF VEHICLE MODELS AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE. OBVIOUSLY IT IS HAPPENING TO THE 2016 F150S. BOTH OF MY INCIDENTS DID NOT THROW A CODE SO THERE SEEMS TO BE NOTHING DEALER CAN DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR THE MOMENT. I DO NOT WANT TO KEEP DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITH THIS DEFECTIVE PART AND UNSAFE CONDITION, ESPECIALLY WITH MY INFANT SON IN THE REAR CAB.

DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, DOING ABOUT 60 TO 65 MPH, NOTICED THAT I WAS SLOWING DOWN SLIGHTLY, WENT TO GIVE IT MORE GAS, LOOKED DOWN AT THE DASHBOARD AND REALIZED THAT THE ENGINE WASN'T ON (NO RPMS ON TACHOMETER). THE SCREEN ON THE DASHBOARD HAD A SERVICE WARNING FOR THE PARKING BRAKE WITH A LIGHTNING BOLT IDIOT LIGHT ON (NOT SURE WHAT IT WAS, DIDN'T GET THE CHANCE TO LOOK IN THE MANUAL). I DON'T KNOW IF THE POWER STEERING/BRAKES WENT OUT, SINCE I WAS MOVING FAST ENOUGH TO STEER FAIRLY EASILY, AND I'M STRONG ENOUGH TO PRESS A BRAKE PEDAL. AFTER I GOT IT PULLED OVER, I PUT IT IN PARK, TRIED TO START IT AGAIN, WASN'T ABLE TO. CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, GOT A TOW TRUCK. NOTICE THE SCREEN THAT HAS STUFF LIKE CLOCK, TEMP, DATE, MEDIA INFO WAS STUCK AT THE TIME IT SHUTOFF. NO OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SEEMED TO WORK, I.E. POWER WINDOWS, EMERGENCY FLASHERS, IGNITION. WAS ALSO LOCKED IN PARK, COULDN'T GET IT INTO NEUTRAL FOR THE TOW TRUCK. AFTER IT GOT ONTO THE TOW TRUCK, THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS FLASHED WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SERVICE IT, GOT TO DEALER AND WHEN IT CAME TIME TO GET IT OFF THE TRUCK, IT STARTED RIGHT BACK UP AGAIN, DIDN'T APPEAR TO HAVE ANY SERVICE MESSAGES SHOW UP. BRAND NEW TRUCK, ABOUT 1100 MILES ON IT, NO ACCIDENTS, NO OFF-ROADING, HAVEN'T EVEN CHANGED THE OIL YET, HAVEN'T TOUCHED ANYTHING UNDER THE HOOD BESIDES THE OIL DIPSTICK. AT THE DEALERSHIP, NOTHING SEEMED TO BE LOOSE UNDER THE HOOD (ELECTRICAL WISE). ATTACHED IS A PICTURE SIMILAR TO WHAT I SAW (AGAIN, 65 ON THE HIGHWAY, NOT REALLY AN IDEAL TIME FOR DOCUMENTATION).

2016 FORD F-150 XLT 2.7L ECOBOOST AUTOMATIC MODEL WITH APPROXIMATELY 3,400 MILES. HAD ALREADY DRIVEN ABOUT 4-5 MILES WITH ENGINE ALREADY WARMED UP. DRY WEATHER AND ABOUT 69 DEGREES F OUTSIDE. CAME UP TO STOP LIGHT WITH OTHER VEHICLES AHEAD SLOWED DOWN. CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THE AUTO-STOP FUNCTION ENGAGED AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE ROADWAY WAS FAIRLY LEVEL. WAITED APPROXIMATELY 20-30 SECONDS UNTIL LIGHT TURNED GREEN. TRAFFIC AHEAD STARTED TO MOVE FORWARD. I LET OFF THE BRAKES AND THE AUTO-START ENGAGED. I CONTINUED TO EASE OFF BRAKES AND ALLOWED THE TRUCK TO ROLL AND IDLE FORWARD WITH THE FLOW OF THE VEHICLES AHEAD. I THEN APPLIED MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND BEGAN ACCELERATING WITH THE FLOW OF THE TRAFFIC. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. AT FIRST I DIDN'T REALIZE IT HAD SHUT OFF AND WAS SURPRISED THAT I WASN'T ABLE TO ACCELERATE ANYMORE. THEN I LOOKED AT INSTRUMENT PANEL AND SAW THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS READING 17 MPH AND SLOWLY DROPPING AS THE TRUCK WAS JUST COASTING ALONG. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT MAYBE I HAD ACCIDENTALLY THROWN IT INTO NEUTRAL SOMEHOW, BUT THE GEAR WAS STILL IN "D" AND APPLYING GAS DID NOT MOVE THE TACHOMETER AS IT HAD DROPPED TO ZERO. THEN I SAW THE BATTERY SYMBOL POP UP. THIS IS WHEN I REALIZED THE ENGINE HAD SHUT OFF DURING ACCELERATION, POSSIBLY DURING GEAR SHIFT SEQUENCE. AT THIS POINT THE VEHICLE IS STILL ROLLING ROUGHLY 10 MPH, SO I ENGAGE IT INTO NEUTRAL AND CRANK THE IGNITION AND IT STARTS UP AGAIN. THERE IS TRAFFIC BEHIND ME AT THIS POINT SO I CHANGE GEAR INTO "D" AND AM THEN ABLE TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY UP TO PROPER SPEED. I COULD NOT RECREATE THIS AGAIN FOR THE NEXT 5-6 MILES HOME, EVEN WITH NUMEROUS STOP LIGHTS WHERE I WOULD RECREATE THE SAME AUTO-STOP/START AND ACCELERATE ACTIONS.

SO I'VE GOT 16,000 MILES ON MY NEW 2016 F150 TRUCK. LAST WEEK I WAS CRUISING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN THE FAST LANE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRUCK SHUDDERS THEN LOSES ALL DRIVETRAIN POWER. THE ENGINE WAS STILL ON BUT ONLY OPERATING AT BTWN 600 AND 800 RPMS BUT THE ACCELERATOR WAS UNRESPONSIVE. WAS NO FUN TRYING TO MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER WITH NO POWER. ONE WEEK LATER, SAME THING TWICE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY DIDN'T SEEM OVERLY CONCERNED THAT MY NEW TRUCK WAS STRANDING ME IN THE FAST LANE WITH NO POWER. THEY SAID BRING IT IN AT THE END OF THE WEEK AND WE'LL TAKE A LOOK AT IT. SO I START RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM AND CAN ONLY FIND RELATED ARTICLES FROM AROUND 2012 WHEN FORD WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH HUMIDITY IN ITS NEW ECOBOOST ENGINES. I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA WHERE THE HUMIDITY IS NOT VERY FIERCE SO I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS THE PROBLEM OR NOT, BUT AFTER READING SOME POSTS ON HOW FORD DEALT WITH THIS PROBLEM BEFORE, I'M NOT VERY OPTIMISTIC ON THE OUTCOME THIS TIME.

MY 2016 F150 HAS ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL ("ACC") THAT APPLIES BRAKES IN THE EVENT A VEHICLE IS DETECTED IN LANE AHEAD IN ORDER TO MATCH SPEED AND MAINTAIN SAFE DISTANCE. F150 ALSO HAS COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM THAT INCREASES SENSITIVITY OF BRAKES IF IMMINENT COLLISION IS DETECTED. 2015 FORD F150 HAS BEEN SUBJECT TO A RECALL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V614000) TO FIX PROBLEMS WITH ACC - THE ACC MAY FALSELY DETECT AN OBSTACLE IN ITS PATH AND MAY UNEXPECTEDLY APPLY THE BRAKES INCREASING THE RISK OF A REAR-END COLLISION FROM A FOLLOWING VEHICLE. MY 2016 F150 WAS BUILT AFTER THE DATE COVERED BY THE RECALL HOWEVER IT EXHIBITS THE EXACT PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL I.E. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO EXIST WITH FORD'S ACC SYSTEM AND THE RECALL WAS INSUFFICIENT. IN MY CASE, ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS FROM 3/19 THROUGH 3/26/2016 THE ACC SYSTEM ACTIVATED UNEXPECTEDLY AND FOR NO REASON, CAUSING HEAVY BRAKING AND IN ONE CASE ALMOST CAUSING COLLISION WITH A FOLLOWING VEHICLE. THE COLLISION WARNING LIGHTS ALSO LIT UP - THIS SYSTEM MAY ITSELF HAVE INCREASED SEVERITY OF BRAKING. BRAKING EVENTS OCCURRED WITH TWO DIFFERENT DRIVERS, ON STRAIGHT FREEWAY, NO STEERING INPUT, NO BRIDGES, OR SAFETY BARRIERS TO CONFUSE THE ACC RADAR. IN ALL CASES WE WERE DRIVING IN LEFT LANE OF A TWO LANE FREEWAY, APPROACHING TO PASS A LARGE VEHICLE TRAVELLING IN RIGHT LANE - A SEMI-TRUCK IN TWO CASES, EMPTY CAR TRANSPORTER IN OTHER TWO. THE VEHICLE BEING PASSED WAS WELL IN ITS LANE AND NOT DRIFTING OVER OR PRESENTING ANY DANGER TO OUR VEHICLE. FORD'S RESPONSE HAS BEEN THAT THIS IS "NORMAL" AND WAS DUE TO OUR DRIVING ON A CURVE, OR OTHER VEHICLE DRIFTING OVER OR SOME ROAD "FURNITURE" LIKE A BRIDGE / BARRIER CONFUSING THE SYSTEM. HOWEVER, NONE OF THESE FACTORS APPLIED.
