I was driving home and the truck started to shift very harshly and had died at a stoplight , I put it into park and restarted it and the engine light came on tried to put it into drive and it had jumped forward very rough as soon as I did, started driving again and then the truck shifted into 5th gear and would not shift out of 5th gear at all was very slowly leaving from stop signs and the high speed fans had turned on and ran the entire rest of the time. Causing very irratic shifting where at times it would down shift and skid the tires

Dec 29, 2025

transmission is downshifting early and hard. it is clunking and causing erratic speeds and shifting patterns. the hard shifting and downshifting is not normal and dangerous.

Dec 27, 2025

Sudden downshifts of my transmission. Traveling on the highway at 65mph and all of a sudden the transmission shifted down to a lower gear, causing my wheels to lock and vehicle to shudder. Then after stopping on the side of the road, it took the vehicle several minutes to re-engage. I was able to limp the vehicle to the dealer where they replaced the Molded Lead Frame and Transmission Control Module. Very unexpected repair cost.

THE TRANSMMISSION DOWN SHIFT WHEN GOING 60 MPH

Dec 12, 2025

While decelerating from approximately 80 mph to 65 mph under very light throttle, the transmission in my vehicle unexpectedly shifted into 1st gear for a brief moment at highway speed, without any driver command. This caused a sudden and severe deceleration event and created a loss-of-control safety risk, especially in traffic. The transmission immediately corrected itself, however after the event the vehicle avoided normal downshifts and remained in higher gears (5th and 6th), indicating abnormal transmission behavior following the incident. No warning lights or messages were displayed at the time of the event. The vehicle is a 2016 Ford F-150 5.0L equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission (6R80). The vehicle has approximately 91,100 miles. The automatic transmission was serviced at approximately 80,000 miles, including fluid and filter replacement only. No transmission flush was performed. The vehicle has a new AGM battery, properly programmed to the vehicle. The vehicle was originally sold in Canada and is currently operated in the United States. The defect occurred during normal on-road driving and presents a serious safety concern due to the possibility of unintended wheel lock or loss of vehicle control at highway speeds.

The truck will down shift while on the highway. There is also a hard shift from gears 4 through 6. But mostly between 5-6. There are also times when the RPM go high to change gears when taking off. Yes it has put my family and I at risk when it does a sudden down shift while cruising at highway speeds. I am taking it to a shop to be looked at. There was no warning, or lights before this happened.

Oct 22, 2025

vehicle going downhill at about 65 mph shifted to lower gear and warning light (wrench image) comes on dash. truck would not accelerate going up next hill for several seconds and then warning light went off and operation/acceleration resumed and secondary light also cleared This had occurred on another occasion but second warning light stayed on. Service station checked code and indicated that the code was for a sensor in the transmission which they cleared. Have had several instances of intermittent warning light and loss of acceleration which have cleared after several seconds or when I pulled off road and put it in Park and then back in Drive

Just pick up son from day care on afternoon of [XXX]. We were heading out of pea ridge and it was raining that day so speed was approximately 52-55 mph when all the light for the traction system starting flashing followed by a metal squealing sound. pulled over and noticed the brake was hot. so limped it home at 25 mph and scheduled it to be in the shop. come to find out the rear axle had broke inside the housing, caliper had locked up. had that axle broke off and slid out of the housing most likely would of been fatal to my [XXX] in his car seat and my self. there was no warning light or anything before it happened, and it happened all withing about 35 seconds to 1 minute. truck was in accident 2 year priors and side swiped on left side, but Geico claims that since it passed the alignment test that it wasnt related. attached is pictures of the axle it self, and the copy of invoice from the mechanic shop INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Sep 16, 2025

I was driving down the highway and the transmission started shifting erratically and went to 3rd almost causing me to wreck. Check engine light and wrench icon came on and had to pull over immediately. Code says faulty transmission range sensor and lead frame are the cause.

Sep 16, 2025

Uncommand downshift of the transmission at 50MPH causing the rear wheels to skid. This was accompanied by “Blind Spot System Fault”, “Cross Traffic System Fault”, “See Manual” warnings and a loss of transmission position indications (ie.. P-R-N-D-M-2-1). This appears to be similar to NHTSA Recal # 24S37 for 2014 F-150’s

Driving certain freeway speeds will cause the f150 to downshift and lose speed could cause a serious collision on major roadways. This is happening all the time now.

Sep 2, 2025

I was driving my 2016 Ford f150 in Ventura California on August 29th 2025 when my throttle began to accelerate on its own after taking my foot off the gas pedal. My truck sped up out of control, I almost lost control of the vehicle and crashed. Luckily I was able to gain control and get it into neutral and then into park. My trucks rpms raced so high it sounded as if the engine was going to explode. I put it into park and the rpms lowered to a normal level. While this was all happening a wrench icon popped up on my dash. Once the wrench icon came on I noticed my dash wasn’t telling me what gear I was in or if I was in park, neutral or drive. I pulled into the closest parking lot. I put it in park and every time I gave the truck gas the throttle would continue to accelerate on its own and would rev extremely high on its own. I also noticed as I was sitting it the parking lot at idol there is now a thumping sound/ jolt when selecting what gear to go into. I don’t know if this was caused from having to slam the car into neutral and then into park so I wouldn’t crash when the throttle accelerated. I shut my truck off and it wouldn’t turn back on. All of my electronics work but it doesn’t even want to try to start or turn over. I had to tow my truck home and it is now sitting in front of my house unusable. I have videos I can provide.

Aug 28, 2025

Transmission shift radically and causing car to jump like running over something. When hauling transmission might down shift from 5th speed to 2nd speed at 50-60 miles per hour.

Aug 27, 2025

My wife and toddler were returning from dropping off our older child at school this morning. As she approached an intersection, the rear wheels suddenly seized, causing an abrupt stop. A transmission failure code flashed on the digital gauges. The engine shut off, but the electronics remained on, as if in accessory mode. She was able to turn the truck off and then back on, which seemed to reset the system and allow her to drive forward.

Aug 24, 2025

My truck has 140,000 miles and I have maintained it to the specs provided by Ford My vehicle began to unexpectedly overheat when I was in 6th gear cruising at a low RPM. I had the coolant fluid tested for exhaust gasses. Exhaust gasses were detected and it was determined I had a blown head gasket. After taking to mechanics, other owners all over the internet, and Ford dealership employees at the dealership I purchased ny truck from. Everyone said the same thing. The 2.7L EcoBoost motor is prone to blowing a head gasket. My own father who has the same truck, just a younger older than mine decided to just replace the whole motor because he too blew a head gasket. This head gasket issue is pervasive and I would not be surprised if over 20% of this generation of motor has the same problem. I

Truck went into an uncontrolled downshift from fifth to first gear while in traffic, causing a large speed reduction in traffic. Risk of being rearended by driver behind me. Dealer confirmed this issue was due to connections in transmission shorting out due to exposed connections and particles in transmission fluid (same as 2014 F-150 recall). There was no warning that this was going to occur. Wrench light came on when it occurred. Part is not available for inspection.

Aug 19, 2025

Lead frame issue where truck downshifted hard as I was driving then was stuck in a higher gear. Had to have it towed into Ford for repair. Cost about $2,000

Aug 18, 2025

While driving today, my Ford F150 manual light came on while I was driving and then break assistance. Light came on, and it told me to check the brake system. And immediately immediately the truck slammed on the brakes while driving. I almost wrecked with my [XXX] daughter who is [XXX] in the vehicle. This needs to be fixed ASAP. This is very dangerous and could’ve been a lot worse this morning. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Transmission abruptly downshifts without warning. Cluster displays wrench icon and see manual but does not store a code in OBDII. Truck runs in “limp mode” restarting seems to clear the issue. Ford states no code no problem. I have video of issue happening.

Aug 2, 2025

Our truck has been switching gears while driving. It jumps from 2nd to 5th or 1st while in use. There are a few times we end up “stuck” making a turn at an intersection with vehicles coming towards us, almost hitting us due to the truck not switching gears fast enough. It has been happening frequently with the last incident today.

Jul 31, 2025

Transmission is no longer working correctly. Downshifting to low gear for no reason and refusing to shift to higher gear with rpms reaching 8000rpm at 35 mph. Onky 73k miles on vehicle . No check engine light. No error codes using reader.

Jul 28, 2025

While driving on the Interstate, my transmission suddenly had a dramatic downshift. A few miles later as I was exiting the freeway, it went into a limp mode for about 3 miles. I barely could pull into a fast food parking lot immediately off the exit ramp. After letting the truck sit for about an hour, I restarted the truck. It seemed to drive fairly well and drove it to a parts store to see if any OBD code was apparent. It read PO722-00 (Output Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal). I had about 57 miles to home (this is Sunday 7/27/2025 at about 5pm). Made it home but am seriously concerned about allowing my wife driving this!

Vehicle has random sudden and violent downshifts to first gear when at highway speeds. Severe risk of accident and/or engine damage.

Jul 26, 2025

Intermittent flashing of gear selectors (PRNDM) and gears 1-6. When putting in park it loses what gear it is in and nothing highlighted, so then the truck will not start. While driving and this begins, it gets stuck in gear and gear selectors start flashing as it does not know what gear it is in. Lead frame problem in the 6r80 is what detect it is showing. Please help with getting this covered under a recall!

The molded lead frame, a part ford claims they fixed, failed at 81,000 miles. This lead to my truck going into limp mode and slamming into 3rd gear while driving on the highway. Luckily it didn’t cause an accident. $1000 to fix. Called ford corporate and they didn’t care at all. They said nope, we fixed that. Obviously not!

While driving at 65 mph the Orange drive selection indicator on the dashboard started flashing. In addition, the column listing the gears on the right side of the screen started flashing as well. Now there is no orange drive selection indicator light and no column listing the gears on the right side of the screen. I attempted to use the tiptronic shifting switch on the shifter and I was getting no response. When I brought the vehicle to a halt while still in drive, the vehicle moved into neutral. I had to shift the vehicle into "M" manual mode to get it to shift into a driving gear. The vehicle still drives and is able to automatically travel through the gears however I have no way of visually confirming if I'm in drive. I ran a diagnostic scan and the results were as followed "P0705 transmission range sensor a circuit (PRLDN input). When I place my vehicle in park the radiator fans turn on high until I shut the vehicle off. I'm at a gas station now, I can turn the truck on however I am unable to turn the engine back on. I can hear a clicking noise coming from the center console next to the shifter. After 2 min of this noise the orange drive selection light has returned on and is illuminating "P". I can turn the truck engine on, however when I shift I to "D" drive the orange selector light turns off. When I shift back to "P" park, the orange light returns. I shift to "D" press the accelerator and the engine RPM increases. However the vehicle does not move forward. When I shift to "M" the vehicle is in gear and begins to move forward. I still have no control over tiptronic shifting while in "M".

I began noticing the illuminated instrument cluster indicating that I was in drive, flash from drive, to manual, and my truck began changing gears. Truck wouldn’t start after so I changed the battery. A few days later it was driving fine then the lights began to flash once again. My rear wheels seemed to lock up while I was driving about 50 mph, I believe it shifted into first gear and the truck jolted forward. I received a “wrench” icon that stated to “see manual”. Truck began driving fine once again. I contacted 4 local Ford dealerships and all claimed they have never heard of anything like this.

Transmission will slip upon accelerating and down shift without shifting. Causes the truck to pause until it shifts back into gear. This has happened multiple times.

After passing a car on a two lane highway 120 miles from home a wrench light came on and the transmission got stuck in 5th gear. We pulled over, stopped the truck and then it got stuck in 3rd gear and then the check engine light came on. The truck then proceeded to on into limp mode. At that point with the transmission clunking we and the truck shutting down we didn't feel safe driving the vehicle to our weekend destination nor did we feel safe driving it home as we had no idea if the transmission would completely fail. These were two lanes roads with not much shoulder and steep cliffs along the road in many areas and it was very unpopulated so any number of things could have happened to put us at risk. We had the truck towed 120 mileshome and taken to the nearest Ford Dealership, which was Larry H Miller Ford in Mesa, Arizona. The wrench and check engine light did go off but the service center was able to find the codes when they checked and it was determined to be lead frame failure. They removed and replaced the lead frame. There was no warning or codes prior to this happening - only on the day it happened.

Truck Shifts from 6th gear to 1st gear at freeway speeds. This only takes place for a matter of seconds and then shift back to 6th gear. During down shift all throttle response is gone and then regains throttle as if it was resetting. My fear is its going to happen and lock up the truck causing a major accident. I recently had the trucks transmission serviced (Fluid, filter and flushed) thinking old fluid may be causing the issue. But sadly the problem is still there with nothing looking broke or out of place according to FORD. Then today i find my trucks year is apart of a Investigation opened into nearly 1.3 million Ford F-150 trucks over unexpected gear shifts [XXX] . This is a major safe concern not to mention very expensive repair,. Looks like ford is back to old ways, this similar Problem was in the 2012-14 model I believe and eventually ford recalled the vehicles. Now i ask what about the rest of us???? Driving on freeway at 70mph and suddenly the truck shifted to a lower gear causing my RPM's to shoot to over 6,000rpm. I was able to get to the shoulder and turn off vehicle. I waited about 10 minutes and restarted the truck. When it happened the wrench light came on and then went away before I got to the shoulder. I checked for stored codes and it was showing PO720 Out put speed sensor (lead frame in transmission).

Seems like it doesn’t know what gear to be in. At a stop it’s in high gear then slams into low gear then check engine light

May 3, 2025

My truck while driving will downshift into 1st gear. There are no warnings before hand. This puts me and other drivers in harms way. This has happened 4-5 times previously and then it has happened 2 this past week. When it happens my truck just stops and because my foot is on the gas the engine will rev until I put my foot on the brake. I have been very fortunate that no one has rear ended me. I do have an appt with my Ford Dealership for this coming Tuesday. At this point I’m afraid to drive it until this matter has been taken care of. I have read where there was a recall on the 2014 F150 for the same thing. I’m not sure what else you need from me at this time. Also it usually happens when I driving between 40-50mph, but this last time I was going 35mph.

Apr 25, 2025

I have had the torque converter replaced/repaired due to a failing torques converter that caused a "rumble strip" sensation while driving and also have had to have both front and rear differentials repaired due to failed bearings. The truck has also exhibited a "groaning" sound when idling in a parking lot, or coming to a stop that dealership could never determine what cause was. I have also had a indicator light flash in my dash indicating a failed Traction Control Device, which never appeared in any diagnostics. I believe these items can also contribute to the issue at hand in the investigation of PE25002. This has happened multiple times, but I first noticed July 2021.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted. The failure caused the RPM to become elevated, and the exhaust fan activated without the engine overheating. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned off and restart the vehicle to reset the system. The “WRENCH” and the message to “See Owner’s Manual” was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact used a personal diagnostic computer and retrieved DTC: P0715; for a failure of the input shaft speed sensor inside the transmission. The dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened a case. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

I Was Highway Driving this afternoon so speed was about 65mph with Cruise Control On, and suddenly the truck downshifted through the gears like it went into low gear and almost lost control of the Vehicle but was able to safely pull over to the side of the road. Warning light came on as this happened that looked like a wrench(never seen before). Talked to my mechanic right away and confirmed the code that triggered the “Wrench”icon and showed 'bad lead frame in the transmission’… I have never had such an experience with a vehicle ( other then that something severely breakdown because of broken part or flat) to cause such an unsafe situation and thus reason for making this my first ever Report to the NHTSA. So hopefully gets documented and seen by the proper authority’s to remedy this before someone could easily have lost control and been severely injured. After doing just a little checking on this it appears that Ford has had several issue like this with recall’s to earlier year models :-( …. thank you [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

To whom it may concern. The vehicle down shifts from a much higher gear to a lower gear which causes a violent slow down and high revs of the engine. This is happening much more frequently and is dangerous because of the rapid deceleration. The reason I think it is downshifting is the RPM's spike and the gear selector flashes when the episode happens. My VIN Number is [XXX] . I have taken the vehicle in a few times to my local Ford Dealer. Hall Ford Elizabeth City NC. They tell me there is nothing more they can do until Ford gives them direction. I had another service appointment today and I pushed Hall Ford Elizabeth City NC to do another inspection and they did see a code which they say they reset but did not know if it was what caused our issue. The code P1921 (Range Sensor) which if defective some sources say it could cause the transmission to have issues understanding what gear to go to. I need some help Please let me know what I can do, short of parking it, or driving it and have it have a serious episode. -- INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Was driving down highway going about 60/65 mph. Then the transmission shifted from 6th gear to 1st gear very rapidly. Was able to pull over to side of road and truck repeatedly jerked while shifting back into 3rd then back to 6th. Truck drove normally for a while afterward and then it happened again when driving roughly 40 mph. This seems like a major safety issue considering downshifting 5 gears suddenly reduces speed quickly and can cause an accident or loss of control. It seems something with the transmission is the issue. It is available for inspection if requested. There’s been issues with the gears shifting incorrectly and when taken to ford they just say they don’t know what I’m talking about and give the truck back but it’s pretty obvious when driving that there’s a transmission issue. However this is the first instance where it shifted significantly when driving at a high speed. The check engine and wrench lights popped on when the incident occurred as well.

I’m a single mother driving a 2016 Ford F-150, my only vehicle, while transporting small children daily. I’ve been experiencing sudden, violent shaking and unexpected downshifting while driving, especially at highway speeds. On more than one occasion, it has felt like the rear wheels try to lock, causing the entire truck to jolt and decelerate rapidly, putting my safety and the safety of my children at serious risk. I’ve taken the truck to the dealership and multiple independent mechanics, but no one can diagnose the issue because no error codes appear related to the transmission or shifting. The only code that comes up is for a faulty catalytic converter, but both catalytic converters have already been replaced. The dealership confirmed that the check engine light keeps coming on anyway, even though there’s no actual issue with the new parts. They said it’s as if the system is being triggered by something else, but they don’t know what. I was relieved to learn that NHTSA is investigating this exact issue in 2015–2017 F-150 models, because what I’m experiencing matches it exactly. I depend on this truck for everything, school drop-offs, groceries, and survival, and I have no backup vehicle. I am asking NHTSA to prioritize this investigation and take action. This is not just a transmission defect, it’s a public safety threat, and families like mine are being forced to drive dangerous vehicles simply because there’s no help yet. Please step in and hold Ford accountable before someone gets seriously hurt.

On [XXX] I was pulling a trailer with a 1981 F150 home from Louisville, KY. When we enter onto the Interstate System and reached cruising speed by transmission indicator started jumping around switch between gear and downshifted very hard into first gear while I was navigating traffic - semi trailers and passenger vehicles around us. The truck then went into what I would call limp mood for several miles and we were unable to maintain highway speeds with nowhere to exit the interstate there in Louisville area. Eventually the truck regained normal power and we continued our journey back home to the St. Louis Missouri area. We had to stop several time out of fear to check engine oil, transmission fluid and engine temperature out of precautions. We were very stressed after this hard downshift that almost resulted in striking other vehicles on the interstate from the downshifting and rapid decrease in speed on the interstate. No warning light came on just the crazy shift indicator lights going haywire. The next day on [XXX] I was going to refuel and the transmission downshift again on me from 6 gear to first without warning. I took and dropped it off at a local shop for inspection and fixing. The problem was finally diagnosed as the transmission frame module and had to be replaced at a cost of over $900. I had to take it to another local shop here in the St. Louis Area who specializes in Transmission Repairs because my truck was out of warranty, CP Transmissions and Performance replaced the Frame Modular and told us to keep monitoring the status of recalls, but currently my 2016 did not fall under any. I am writing you now as I've seen several article indicating that my year has been noted as having this issue. I have the repair receipt on file and can share that information if needed. On the road when it occurred from Louisville, to St. Louis, not warning light were present. Only after the second occurrence did I finally get a warning light. My husband and I would like to file a complaint about our truck. Our truck transmission shifts down with NO reason and at random times. We have asked our car lot, (Oak Motors, Indianapolis) shop about this at the time of purchase and we were told it is a sealed unit so there is nothing they could do. We have had this truck over a year and this shifting has become more erratic at any speed and it scares me while driving. Now I hear about the investigation and honestly this truck is a safety risk. It causes GREAT anxiety to drive!! Not to mention the added stress and wear on u joints and the rear differential. This truck has not caused an accident yet but one is bound to happen.

While driving a 2016 Ford F-150 XLT Supercab with a 6-speed transmission and 5.0L V-8, the truck was acting abnormally where the rear tires locked up and chirped once, then acted normally. The following week I auto-started the truck to warm the engine up prior to leaving for work, the transmission clunked into reverse and moved, then when in forward motion the transmission lagged and heavily shifted upon acceleration. I turned around, came home, and switched vehicles. Upon arriving home after work, I took the truck for a test drive and it functioned normally, so I continued onto the grocery store. While traveling at 35mph, the transmission slammed into first gear and jolted me. The transmission began shifting on its own from 1st to 3rd back to 1st then to reverse. I was stopped in the middle of the road. I shut the truck off and waited approximately 5 to 10 minutes and tried to restart the vehicle. It wouldn't start, then it finally started and I pulled off to the side of the road. (There was no shoulder.) I gingerly pulled out and started my way back home. Luckily I made it home. There was no engine light (wrench) on the dashboard. I let the truck sit overnight. I started it the following morning, and then the light turned on. Now, if my family (wife and [XXX] ) would've been in the truck while pulling a trailer and 4-wheelers on our way out of state for the weekend and travelling at highway speeds (65-70 mph) and the transmission would've unexpectedly dropped into first gear, the truck and trailer would slam to a stop and there would be a pile up accident with death / mangling done to my family and myself. The truck was taken to a Ford dealer diagnosed with a [XXX] transmission wiring harness control being faulty, and replaced. I drove the truck for 2 months before travelling with a travel or allowing my [XXX] son anywhere near the truck. The repair fixed the issue, but we're strongly considering selling it. Unexpected gear downshift accompanied by a temporary rear wheel lock-up. This occurs at highway speeds and has shifted from 6th gear to 2nd gear multiple times at 50+ mph. This causes substantial safety concerns to both those in the vehicle as well as other vehicles on the road in the immediate proximity. When this occurs speed is restricted suddenly/immediately by a reduction of 5-12 mph. This causes severe impact to passengers. At low speed the gears shift sporadically between all 6 gear ranges impacting drivability. The vehicle has been inspected several times by Corwin Ford however they clear the codes and 'can not replicate' which correlates to the dealership deeming it safe to operate. There were multiple warning lights/lamps, messages when delivered to the dealership. Those were then cleared prior to 'diagnostics' as that was 'their process'.

The contact's wife owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the vehicle jerked and hesitated. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle briefly lost motive power before slamming into gear. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

I have a 2017 F150 6 speed transmission. It shifts unexpectedly while driving

Mar 24, 2025

Transmision issue.. downshifts while driving. Then stuck in lower gear when accelerating. Need to come to a complete start.. Shift to Park.. then back to drive to clear. Feels very unsafe when it happens. Trouble codes confirm its a shifting issue. The wrench on the dashboard lights up momentarily.

The transmission downshifts from high gear to low gear and rearend locks up .

Mar 24, 2025

Driving at 65mph in 5th gear, unexpected downshift into 3rd gear causing vehicle to loose power, immediate decline in speed by 20 mph and no acceleration. Vehicles behind me were forced to slam on brakes to avoid collision. Vehicle had check engine as well as wrench pop up on dashboard when downshift occurred. Took vehicle to Ford Dealership for diagnosis and repair. Error code p0706, p0707,p1702,p1921. Recommend to replace, Molded lead frame with main control, gaskets, transmission filter, fluid. Total cost for repair $2979.54.

I was driving at highway speeds and truck suddenly downshift to 2 gear and truck became slightly out of control. Gear shifter was not touched to cause this.

Mar 24, 2025

I was driving the truck and the wheels seized up. Making me skid. Luckily I wasn’t driving fast. So I looked up what could cause this and it stated it was the lead frame sensor. Before I could get it into the dealership for repairs the truck downshifted several more times. I was able to find the repair online. Unfortunately the dealership tried to sell me a new transmission. I relented and told them what the issue was due to investigating in F-150 chat groups. The rear collision sensor went off. Also the shift sensor went out as well.

Downshifted while driving- vehicle locked up temporarily

Mar 24, 2025

While driving my 2016 f150 truck was driving at 65mph, the transmission down shifted into first gear smoking the back tires and reduce speed in the matter of seconds, with cars behind me braking to avoid me. I had wrench light come on dash. My truck has been repaired at a crestview ford dealership.

Mar 24, 2025

Transmission would not know what gear it was in and go into limp mode and at high speeds it would lock up the back tires. It would also not go into gear reliably after it warms up. I had this repaired 10/26/ 2024. I heard on the radio today that you were investigating this problem for a recall.

Mar 24, 2025

The truck grinds when it down shifts to third gear when yoyr driving. While driving the truck skips and makes a terrible jerking motion. When it does it, it feels like the bottom of the truck is going to fall out. Sometimes you have to pull over and turn the truck off and on. The truck is available for inspection if requested. This is a huge safety issue especially when the gear sticks downshifting to 3rd and you have to pull over fast. The truck has been brought in to several shops and we get told unfortunately this is a known problem with Ford F150s. There was a check engine light that came on before it broke down this last time.

My truck has locked up my rear wheels 2 times already as of this afternoon on my way home.It automatically goes from 3 gear or 4,5or 6th down to 1st gear causing me to almost get rear ended. It thrown codes and i have took it to local ford dealership and was charged to check it out only to be told it owe them 214.00 and it was gonna be 8000.00 to fix it since it was out of date.I have been told it is my leadframe part gone bad and will do this again. My wife has stopped letting my son ride in this truck until we can find 8000.00 to drive it safely. It's scary for me to drive it as I have found out it does this at random times.Ford dealership reset my codes but it did it again today. Its getting bad. What should I do.I have the repair invoice but it's at work as I write this up.But i have to drive my truck to get to work to pay for it!!!

Component/System: Automatic transmission. Yes, the failed transmission components are possible but not likely available for inspection upon request contingent on the repair shop not having scrapped them. I’ve had two transmission rebuilds due to repeated failures. Safety Risk: The vehicle unexpectedly downshifted to a lower gear at highway speeds without warning, causing sudden deceleration. Also, at red lights causing jolting or delayed acceleration. This put my safety and others at serious risk of rear-end collisions or loss of vehicle control, especially during high-speed driving, in addition to other things. Confirmed by Service: Yes, the issue was diagnosed and confirmed by two independent repair shops. Each diagnosed severe internal transmission failure consistent with sudden mechanical shock. The failure of the transmission had codes displayed indicating such, and I have a print out from the mechanic prior to the rebuild as I wanted to confirm it was not any other issue before rebuilding. Inspections: The state of New Jersey has not inspected this vehicle. Warning Signs: There were no dashboard warning lights, error messages, or audible alerts prior to the failure that reasonably could have been linked to such event(s). The first rebuild occurred in early 2023, and similar failures repeated despite full rebuilds. No advance indication was ever given before the vehicle downshifted. Second rebuild was in the Fall of 2023. In prior instances to rebuilds, there were wrench light warning alerts indicated on dashboard, however they made no sense and clicking OK dismissed them with no re-alert or info pertaining to such. When this did occur, and since nothing could be linked to it in the average drivers head, it was assumed an accidental notification.

Mar 24, 2025

In May of 2023, the transmission downshifted unexpectantly while going 50 mph from 6th gear to 1st gear for a second, causing the rear tires to lock up for that moment before shifting back to 6th gear. This caused a quick loss of control and reduction of speed while in traffic. Luckily no accident occured during this. If it had not shifted back to 6th gear, the result would have been much different putting myself and others on the road at risk of an accident at high speeds with traffic behind the vehicle and oncoming traffic. Prior to this incident the truck would occassionally not start and the gear selection indicator was not illuminated as normal and the engine light would occasionally come on. Speaking with Ford dealerships they identified it as the molded lead frame connector within the transmission. I'm unsure of the damage this has caused on other parts from the significant shift change at high speeds and I'm concerned of what has been damaged but not shown as of yet. They replaced the molded lead frame connector at a cost to me and the truck has not had that issue since.

Power train failed and truck began to jerk and I lost control of the throttle. I had to throw myself (the truck) on the shoulder to avoid danger. Blinking lights on the dash board occurred. San Leandro Ford diagnosed issue as bad transmission and replaced it in November 2024. Inspected on site by authorized dealer. Told me customer problem must pay to have it replaced!! When I tried contacting national Ford representative and Bill Brandt dealership in Brentwood where purchased in Oct. 2016, no one wanted to take responsibility.

The rear Axel is starting to fail. This vehicle has not been used in a work/commercial environment. The rear axel has a loud humming noise, it was diagnosed as a bad spider gear and bearing. This is also causing major limitations on the initial speed up of the vehicle. This is causing a drag feeling when accelerating into a highway. It’s a 3 thousand dollar rebuild. This is extremely weird, a drivetrain Axel should not fail under regular driving conditions.

While driving the truck jumps back and forth between Drive and Manual multiple times and then goes. Happens occasionally and has been going on for about a week. Then today, it did it again and all gauges flicked on and off and jumped between gears. It first happened on the highway doing 70mph and it's like it dropped down to first gear and throws you forward.

While driving my truck the transmission gear lights on the dash will begin to flash and the transmission will downshift very hard causing the rear end to lock up. This has happened three times now at traveling at a high rate of speed on the interstate (roughly 60-65 MPH).

Transmission gets stuck in 3rd or sometimes 5th gear when in Drive. Shifting to 1, 2, or M does nothing; shifting from Neutral to Reverse or Drive creates a large clunk and lunge. It seems to be the same issue as the 2014 F-150 & Expedition 6R80 transmission recall and is so common that it took no time at all to find out what my problem likely is.. This is the 5th time this has happened. Two times were when pulling out onto very busy roads, once in a parking lot, once in a field, and once turning into my alley; some incidents were years apart. If it were to happen again when I needed 1st gear to avoid being hit, I would not have the power for needed acceleration or to make a proper maneuver. It also acts very funny when it happens and creates a very large distraction from driving. When I was able to get back off the main road, it seemed like there was light smoke coming from under the truck so I shut the vehicle down in the middle of a smaller road, which was dangerous enough. I have less than 30,000 miles on my truck and am very maintenance minded; this should not be a worry I should have to have. This appears to be the result of a defective part in the transmission called the "Lead Frame" and it is not easy to find a new one right now due to the excessive amount of them needing replacement.

Jan 2, 2025

When I was driving on the highway about 65 mph the truck abrubly downshift to 1st or 2nd gear causing the truck to dermaticly slow down. I am lucky there was nobody behind me because they could have rear ended me. The issue ended up being the transmission valve body harness which is apparently a common issue.

I was getting married and setting to go a getaway immediately after we wed. I got a tune up and go my vehicle read. After the tune up it the drive felt great. So me and my wife took to the highway, and as my vehicle began to accelerate the engine began jitter as I press on the gas peddle. The car would not go past 50 mph. As I kept my feet on the gas you can feel the whole car shaking, then the eco boost kicks in and it immediately accelerate at a high rate of speed and as attempt to control the speed by letting go of the gas. The vehicle shakes as it looses power and settles on 50 to 60 miles shaking until the eco boost kicks in. It was a two hour ride and I couldn't look back just pray. Through out the ride it was the same thing over and over again. My wife and I were in constant fear, because I felt due to the erupt increase in speed I was putting other motorist at risk. The engine light came on and a wrench symbol and tire symbol came on. The component or system that failed or malfunctioned involves the eco boost. It appears to be the same recall reference NHTSA # 24V-635 & Manufacturer: # 24S55. My vehicle presently has 78,000 miles on it and it should not be doing that. I have also looked at other problems with the 2016 Ford F-150 Ecoboost as being the web belt system and head gasket failure. However, whatever is the case anyone with this type of vehicle and experiencing the same thing is catastrophic the public safety at large and it cannot be ignored. Ford must correct this problem before someone end up dying as a result of this problem. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and I pray this may help you properly investigate my experience. I can have my truck available for anyone from NHTSA to inspect. Presently there is no data regarding the problem with this particular vehicle.

When shifting the truck into gear the lights such as the parking, driving, neutral, reverse and lower gears lights as well as the lights showing which gears the trucks shifting into do not light up! Therefore, you cannot tell what gear the truck is currently placed into. Also, if the lights do light up, they flicker very erratically, and the truck will change gears on its own. When driving the vehicle, the truck will just suddenly change gears and makes a hard shift into lower or higher gear or gears which is extremely dangerous. This makes the truck feel like I've been hooked up to another vehicle that is trying to snatch me backwards. I was driving on the highway the other day and the truck went from 6th gear doing over 70mph to all of a sudden downshifting and dropping down to 40mph on the highway. I thought the engine and transmission were both going to explode on me and cause an accident. This was extremely terrifying and if I didn't keep my cool it could have easily caused a wreck. Most people would have freaked out had an accident. The truck barely made it home because of the gears shifting all over the place and the truck wanting to lose power and shut down. This is extremely dangerous and the representative I spoke to from Ford agreed that considering the mileage of the truck and with the recent recalls concerning transmissions being recalled for the exact same issues that my truck is experiencing that I needed to call you guys and get my tuck added to the Ford F-150 recall list for the transmission issues ford trucks have been having. The Truck is a 2016 Ford F-150 XLT. This is the case number provided to me from Ford to give you Ford Case # CXH03020325

The transmission 6R80 is absolutely horrible, a part called the lead frame is all over youtube on how to fix it at home. the transmission causes slam shifts, missed shifts, or nothing at all. 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, and 4th to 5th. When slowing down again hard shifts back down again. local mechanics say they don't want to change transmission fluid as it could do more harm then good. I called my local ford dealership and was offered to bring it in where the test would show either a transmission fix or a full replacement which is absolutely crazy to me, Ford should be held liable for these mistakes because it should be fixed with a piece of Styrofoam over the sensors, and then transmission fluid changed. But ford knows for all of that and all of the 6R80 transmissions they've put out is an astronomical number. This is horrible that its happening to a very large majority of these transmissions and nothing from ford.

transmission suddenly downshifted causing vehicle to almost stop locking up the rear end momentarily scaring all passengers and almost causing an accident. this occurred several times. the vehicle does other weird things as well. dealer says it is lead frame issue wants to charge 1800 dollars to fix. I looked up info on how the 11 thru 13 models have recall for the exact issue and same transmission. why then wouldn't a later vehicle same transmission exact same issue be cover as a recall as well? This keeps reoccurring putting lives at risk it also looses power making so the vehicle will not move out of traffic the check engine light sometimes comes on stating trans issues the wrench light on the dash illuminates dealer as admitted it needs a new lead frame 2011 thru 2013 had recall for exact same issue has been happening for several weeks no warning just all of the sudden each time which is getting worst

Driving vehicle after about 20min of run time the transmission downshifts hard and all or most driver assistance feature warnings alert they are not functioning. Engine RPMS raise but vehicle does not move. Vehicle got stranded on busy road during rush hour with no ability to move on its' own. Check Engine light and other warnings on dashboard. Later diagnosis with a scan tool and pin point testing verified that the Lead Frame inside the transmission has failed at 80k miles. More concerning than early failure is the safety problem this poses. Braking, steering, and propulsion are all affected significantly! Once vehicle is stopped and put into park it won't shift or start again. Also if the vehicle is in park when symptoms are present any input on the gas pedal raises and holds the engine RPM at redline/rev-limiter for approximately 5 seconds. TPS Sensors and throttle body are all functioning properly.

My truck will suddenly downshift when driving at highway speeds to a lower gear, causing the rear end to lock-up. Same issue that ford is addressing with the 2014 F-150's with recall 24S37, where they are replacing sensors & reprogramming the PCM. This is going to cause an accident and potential loss of life if this is not fixed by FORD. The recall that was issued should have included many other model years. My truck only has 60k miles on it and have heard of many issues around the same mileage on other years.

Driver side door some times will not close and have to lock and unlock the door to get it to close, and transmission is making hard gear changes.....

Aug 26, 2024

Vehicle randomly shifts into 1st or 2nd gear while driving at highway speeds. the wheels lock up and skid, then enters into limp mode. After the incident, the vehicle displays a "check manual," "Blind Spot Detection," and "Cross-Traffic Sensor" light display. After a few minutes in limp mode, the vehicle will correct itself and begin driving normally. This happens 70% of the times i drive the vehicle. I have taken it to the ford dealer 3 separate times. The warranty company won't fix it because when they drive it, it doesn't recreate the issue, and they tell me to keep driving it until the transmission goes out completely.

Aug 19, 2024

When traveling at a higher rate of speed (30-60mph) the truck tries to downshift into a lower gear by itself. When this happens, the truck lurches back and forth and makes a grinding noise, the RPM will increase for the second or so that this is happening. This problem is very sporadic.

Aug 15, 2024

Driving down the expressway at 70 mph, vehicle gear light indicators started to flash between gears, and vehicle abruptly entered limp-home mode and downshifted to 3rd gear, causing the vehicle to aggressively decelerate to the point of the back wheels squealing. If another car was in standard following distance, it would have been a certain accident.

While driving at high speed, the transmission suddenly downshifted into first gear. This resulted in a near loss of control. From looking online, it appears there was a recall for prior model years related to the same problem.

Aug 12, 2024

The issues I have had with my 2016 Ford F150 appear to be related to the 6R80 transmission installed in the vehicle. I have experienced unexpected and unwarranted downshifting at highway speeds to lower gears causing the vehicle to decelerate significantly while in motion with traffic. This issue can then cause the vehicle to not start after pulling over to inspect the vehicle. This issue has been reproduced on at least five separate occasions over a two month period. I am attempting to seek repairs for this safety issue through an authorized Ford dealer and have been told there is a several month wait for transmission service due to the amount of other people having transmission issued as well.

While driving down XXX (XXX in Auburn Hills), a wrench light came on the dash in my truck and started experiencing acceleration issues. I also could no longer see that I was in Drive mode (vs P, R, N, etc.). After I got off the expressway and slowed down at the first light, I noticed it was hard to accelerate again and took some time to begin shifting thru the gears. Once I made it to my destination and turned off the truck, it would not restart, no engine turnover whatsoever. I managed to trick or reset the issue by shifting into neutral (still could not see that I was in Neutral because the transmission could tell where the shifter was at) and I restarting the truck in order to limp home. Truck did not start the next day. Had the vehicle towed to a dealership and the fix was the transmission "lead frame connector" was bad. I was told that there was a recall on this exact same issue on older model F150's but not my 2016. On top of that, I was just outside the "extended warranty" that I purchased when I bought the used truck in 2019. And I still had over 15,000 miles left of the extended warranty, but I had passed the end date first. Cost for fix was appr. $1100. 2016 Ford F150 w/ 5.0L V8 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Truck had defective lead frame assembly in transmission , caused wheels to lockup when downshifted to first while traveling at 65 mph. Ford says no recall, had to pay $1700 for transmission repair of lead frame , and every tire was flat spotted and had to be changed as well. And cost me $700 in towing fees.

The recall currently on the 2014 F-150 our 2016 is doing the same thing. It randomly shifts down into lower gears or won't shift at all. Or it will go into 6th gear and not move.

Jul 26, 2024

On Sunday July 21st I was driving my F-150 when the check engine light came on. I took the car to an autoparts store for diagnostic check. The codes that came back are P0707 and P0706. On the drive home from the auto parts store the car slammed into first gear on a back road, then would not go back into gear when placed in park, then back in drive. I was able to turn off the ignition and restart the vehicle. At that time the vehicle did go back in to gear but was not behaving normally. There was also a wrench lamp that lit up on the dashboard at that time. According to ford this is what the wrench indicates "This light can be triggered whenever your onboard diagnostics II(OBD II) system detects a throttle control system or transmission-related problem". According to my mechanic these codes are the same codes associated with a recall that is already in place for transmission issues with the 2014 6 speed transmission, which is the same transmission I have in my vehicle. My mechanic states he as already replaced several transmission range sensor circuits on 2015 and 2016 models and they are the same issue that the 2014 is having. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, but I did speak to the ford dealership where I purchased the vehicle new. They advised me to complete this report which tells me that they are likely seeing the same thing as my mechanic is seeing.

The lead frame on my vehicle is faulty, and will randomly switch into manual mode (it's an automatic transmission) while driving on the highway. This causes it to downshift to low gears while I'm driving on the highway. I'm driving 65+ on the highway and suddenly the vehicle downshifts to 2nd gear and I have to slam on the brakes. The engine light only comes on when the issue happens then goes back off until it happens again. Ford dealership confirmed that this is related to the lead frame and suggested it be replaced. From what I've read online, this is such a common issue that replacement lead frames for this model year have been on back order for several years, yet no recall has been issued for this model year, only the previous generation. My vehicle is currently in the shop so I don't have a repair invoice yet.

Jul 24, 2024

My vehicle started making a rattling noise I took it to a ford dealership and they said the can phasers need to be replaced i saw online that there was a recalled for the 2017-2019 models that were made between march 10th 2016 to November 30th 2019 my specific vehicle was made in the Dearborn factory where the issue was recalled march 9th of 2016 and I think that my year and model should also be under the recall because I don’t find it coincidental that my truck was built in the factory the day before the recall date and is having they same exact issue as the same make and models.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The transmission lead frame failed. It was replaced by the mechanic. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The transmission suddenly shifted to a lower gear and locked up the rear tires. This suddenly decreased the speed while traveling in traffic. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The service center scanned the truck and recorded the error codes. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The transmission shifted erratically and the gear indicator on the dash blinked. After the sudden downshift the check engine and see service manual light came on.

Transmission does not shift into gear when idle and pushing in the gas pedal. Truck randomly shuts off when at stop lights and have to restart it. Transmission shifts randomly into different gears at different speeds while driving. Transmission struggles to shift into gear and when it does the whole truck shakes and loud clunk noises happens. Cruise control speeds go up and down while driving and engine has trouble shifting into gears to keep up speed.

Vehicle is exhibiting issues consistent with the recalled lead frame part on previous year models, despite my 2016 having the same transmission as they do. Truck will randomly downshift into first at slower speeds causing engine to rev very high and not want to shift into next gear. Often times it will get “stuck” in 3rd gear even when coming to a complete stop and leaving a stop in 3rd still. On one occasion the truck shuddered and began to decelerate even as the accelerator was being pressed on the highway causing a significant safety issue, I had to put in neutral and restart the truck while still driving to regain forward mobility of the vehicle. When these things occur typically a little gear wrench symbol will appear on the dash and on one occasion has raised a check engine light with code P0720.

Transmission range sensor malfunction. Truck would downshift into unknown gear while driving. Similar issues to the 2014 F-150 recall that is currently happening. If truck “forgets” what gear it is in, it will not start at times leaving me stranded until the truck “remembers” it was in park.

I believe the recent recall for 2014 F-150 transmission issue are not limited to 2014. On Friday [XXX], I was traveling in my 2016 F-150 in Kingston On, Canada, when my truck violently downshifted. I was driving at approx 90kph when this happened. I was towing a lightweight utility trailer at the time the rear wheel of the truck fishtailed slightly and the rpm when to around 5000-6000rpm, I do not know what gear the truck downshifted too. My truck is downshifting to 1st gear while driving. If I happen to be in cruise control the truck will just coast and the dash display will flicker, then go back to 6th gear. If I give it gas, then it will almost come to an abrupt stop or if I am out of cruise, it will come rev up and almost come to a stop. While Driving at about 25 MPH Powertrain light (orange wrench) came on indicating an issue with the powertrain. Pulled off road and turned truck off and attempted to turn back on, truck would not turn back on. Disconnected battery and reconnected the battery and vehicle started with a check engine light. attempted to put truck into reverse/drive, vehicle would lunge either forwards or reverse and make loud clunking noise. when radiator fan turned on, power train light would turn on. when powertrain light was on, the indicator for "PRND' would not show which I was in. had vehicle towed to dealership. Dealer ship diagnosed vehicle with Lead Frame failure. The 6R80 transmission is known to have these issues and has had a recall for the 2011-2013 F150's with this transmission. Same transmission, same issues, only one recall.

On 2/18/2019 took the F-150 to Mathews Ford Marion Ohio service to address several issues. First, the tailgate had unexpectedly opened striking a trailer jack and damaging the tailgate. Tailgate opening while driving with cargo could result in cargo falling onto roadway. Damaged tailgate remains on the truck and is available for further inspection. Second, the owner heard rubbing/grinding noises when switching in and out of 4 wheel drive. The service technician could not replicate either issue. On 11/29/2023 took the F-150 to Leroy's Service Center in Delaware Ohio as the dashboard indicated several messages including required oil change (although odometer showed an oil change was not needed for another 3,000 miles compared to oil change sticker on windshield), a large yellow wrench adjacent to required oil change message, a small yellow wrench below required oil change message, and a yellow check engine light. Twice there was sensation of slipping (applying gas but no movement). Once parked in Leroy's lot the truck could not be started. Service technicians suspected LEAD frame failure. Service technician replaced the original LEAD frame with Ford Part numbers 2592734 and aL3z-7g276-d 1x (off replacement part box). I retained malfunctioning part for inspection if desired. Numbers off the malfunctioning part include aL3p-7g276-ak a9-21416-0998 c108p; Ford b556d; 3264 487 321 09 330743; Continental 3a8214160008 a2c53308751. Malfunctioning transmission while driving could cause unexpected vehicle slowing or stoppage. In summary, experienced unexpected tailgate opening, History of transmission issues (unexpected sounds when switching into or out of 4 wheel drive), and failure of the LEAD frame with slipping and inability to start vehicle after it was parked.

The transmission Lead Frame has failed. This is the same problem we had with our 2013 F150 under campaign number 19N01. This is a common problem with the ford transmission that continues to occur. Ford should be made to support this issue since it can lead to severe accidents if the transmission was to lock up or shift to a lower gear abruptly while in motion.

2016 FORD F150 WITH 55,000 MILES.STARTED DRIVING VEHICLE, ENGINE RPM DROPPED, ENGINE MISSING AND SHAKING. NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. VEHICLE JUST IDLED HORRIBLY. DASH HAD LARGE WRENCH SYMBOL AND AN "ACCUTRAC SERVICE NEEDED" WARNING. i TURNED OFF IGNITION, RESTARTED VEHICLE. SAME RESULTS. I DID THIS 4-5 MORE TIMES. LAST TIME VEHICLE IDLED OKAY AND ACCELERATED. DROVE THE VEHICLE 60 MILES HOME WITH NO THER ISSUES. CHECKED WITH AN OBD-II DIAGNOSTICS AND GAVE 2 CODES: P2111 THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM-STUCK OPEN AND P2112 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM-STUCK CLOSED. NOW, NOW WARNING LIGHT OR ANY INDICATION OF PROBLEM ON DASH. NO WARNING LAMPS PRIOR TO PROBLEM. SAFETY WAS AT RISK BECAUSE WITHOUT WARNING, PULLING OUT INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC AND LOSING THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WITH TRAFFIC COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. LOOKING THIS PROBLEM UP IN AN ONLINE FORD F150 FORUM INDICATES THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM. WHY HAS THERE BEEN NO RECALL FOR THIS POTENTIALLY DEADLY ENGINE FAILURE CIRCUMSTANCE?

Sep 23, 2023

Extreme corrosion to the transfer case casting around all of the fasteners. The corrosion is so bad that the case is starting to separate and leak fluid. There is a severe vibration in the drive train and it is believed to be the cause.

On three occasions my vehicle went into a “FAIL-SAFE MODE” . The first occurrence happened while I’m driving on dry pavement at approx 45mph. Unexpectedly the engine shakes and slowed the vehicle to 5mph while I’m in medium to heavy traffic. I was on a two lane road and had to quickly pull off to the shoulder. The second occurrence was while I was merging in heavy traffic and accelerating into the flow of that traffic. As the FAIL-SAFE MODE made my vehicle rapidly slow the cars behind me had to swerve and make fast lane changes. I engaged my emergency flashers to caution other drivers until I could escape the roadway on to a private driveway. The third occasion was similar to the first. Each time the FAIL-SAFE MODE happened a warning message appeared on my dash with a description of the problem and a large wrench appeared. Two different messages appeared. Twice the message was regarding a failure in the TRACTION. CONTROL. Once the message was about a problem with the HILL DESCENT CONTROL. After each event I turned off the engine, waited a few minutes, restarted the engine and was able to drive away like nothing happened. The owners manual instructed me to stop driving and have the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer has now had my vehicle for a month. They computer on this vehicle erases the code when the engine is restarted. So they cannot fix this problem. I asked the service manager at the dealership to reach out to the manufacturer which he did. The manufacture’s response was “without a code we can’t diagnose the problem, give the vehicle back to the guest”. This is a serious safety issue, a vehicle that would come to a crawl while in traffic. This would put myself and other drivers at risk. The dealer wants me to drive the vehicle to have the issue duplicate itself and then what?

I have replaced four turbos directly from board on the driver side only and now my transmission decided to lock up on me on the freeway at 75 mph and they're saying that it was a lead frame problem which Ford doesn't have any they're on backorder for months

The vehicle experienced intermittent starting issues for a few days, then left my son stranded in the middle of an intersection after it would not crank. Was able to finally get it started and get it home, but had to get it towed to the dealership the next day. I was able to get a code with a scanner that pointed to a fault in the transmission range sensor circuit. I did some research and discovered the problem was likely a defective molded lead frame inside the transmission. There have been many instances when this part has failed and there was a known problem with earlier model year vehicles that had an extension of the factory warranty. I paid to have the repair completed at a cost of $1430.31 but I believe this should have been a service bulletin item or a recall because of previously reported problems. I was without this vehicle for over 2 weeks.

My 2016 Ford F-150 supercab is leaking transmission fluid. Noticed the gasket is leaking from the transfer case. Took it to the dealership and they said that it can not be repaired and needs to be replaced because it is coroded and it will take a couple of months to get the parts because the special bolts are on back order. The replacement will cost me $3900 and they said i should not be driving it. I can go without a vehicle for 2 months while waiting for parts . Meantime I have to drive it while it's leaking. Have no choice can't afford to rent a car I have heard this happening to others having the same problem where the bolts are coroded and leaking with the same Borg Warner transfer case that was put on by Ford factory

The ford 2.7 liter eco boost engine has a design flaw that leads to the engine oil pan to leak around the seal which creates an environmental concern for leaking oil on the ground and also poses a fire risk as the oil could potentially contact something hot and could flame up. This is a known issue that many 2.7 liter eco boost engine owners have had to deal with and some of them have had to make the costly repair more than once. Ford only has issued a TSB 23-2083 for this issue and will not do a recall unless the NTSB says per their customer service at Ford corporate who handled my case that I had opened up.

My vehicle check engine light and wrench light came on suddenly. My transmission got stuck in 5th gear. Upon arriving to the stop light the transmission wouldn’t downshift leading me to start off very slow. The car behind me almost rear ended me. Once I was up to about 50 mph, the transmission downshifted to 2nd gear obviously at high rpm’s and it felt like someone rear ended me. I see this was an issue that had a recall issued on 2011-2013 F150’s. I believe there is another issue or one that wasn’t resolved. There are several complaints online about the part being on backorder for months, which was also confirmed by my dealership once the diagnostic was completed. My vehicle is a 2016 with only 59k miles on it. This $1100 repair should be covered by Ford Motor Company.

Unknown which system is failing as Ford is unable to repair it. The truck codes include underpowered, turbo, catalytic converter, misfire. Truck cannot accelerate. Happens sporadically. The spark plugs, manifold, catalytic converter, brakes, rotors and turbo have all been replaced. Truck continues to have issues accelerating and running. At several points the cab of the truck filled with exhaust. Another point radiator fluid spewed all over under the hood. This truck is a threat to the health and safety of those driving it. The F150 forum states it is a common occurrence and the dealerships are replacing the same parts every few months and the problem never full resolves. Please recall this truck. The date below is when the problem started occurring but has been ongoing since.

Very harsh down shifting, one incident happened at about 40mph but was already slowing down for a light so nothing catastrophic happened but if I was traveling at a higher speed a crash would’ve more than likely happened, and eventually threw codes: P0706, P0707, P1702, P1921 which is for the molded lead frame inside the transmission. Codes were pulled myself with my own devices and according to research all code descriptions are things that are faulty on the molded lead frame assembly

Vehicle downshifted into 2nd gear at 65 mph. It only stayed in the lower gear for 1-2 seconds before shifting back up into 6th gear. Second incident involved downshifting to a lower gear at 55 mph. Also for 1-2 seconds before shifting up. I was unable to determine what gear it shifted down to since the display disappeared. Shifter display sometimes flickers and disappears. It has also shifted into neutral when in motion. Transmission shop was unable to determine the cause. I did get an error message which the technician determined meant the transmission range sensor had low voltage. When he checked the voltage to the sensor in the shop, it was the correct voltage. That may or may not be the cause of the erratic shifting. Going to a lower gear at high speed could lock up the rear wheels and cause an accident.

Jerking when accelerating

Apr 9, 2023

While driving on a highway at a constant 45 to 50 miles per hour, the transmission suddenly downshifted into second gear which made the engine rev to approximately ~5000 rpm and suddenly jerked to car to slow down. This was followed by a orange wrench light and a message to see owners manual. The problem has not been reproduced because I have parked the vehicle until I can diagnose or take it to a mechanic. Our safety was at risk due to the violent and sudden nature of the shift which could have caused a loss of control if we had not been on a dry flat road.

Apr 5, 2023

I was driving down the road approximately 50-55 mph and after taking my foot off the gas to slow for an upcoming traffic light, the transmission instantly downshifted from 6th or 5th gear to first gear, locked up the back wheels and caused my truck to screech to a jolted stop before the traffic light. Approximately one week later, the truck did the exact same thing. The wrench light came on both times and at the subsequent start up was off, but the system did trigger OBD codes. I am very concerned with the fact that this exact same issue was deemed worthy of a recall on 2011-2013, Ford recall #19S07/NHTSA Recall 19V-075, but it is still happening on many many F150s with the 6R80 transmission after the model years covered by the recall.

Lead Frame failure. Electrical component attached to valve body on transmision. On multiple occassions my truck would downshift from 6th gear to 2nd gear. The first time I was traveling at 55mph with an engine rpm of 1500/1600s, on flat ground with no load and not attempting to speed up or slow down. This caused the engine to rev up to 4500 rpm causing me too very sudden and violent jerk forward. After a few seconds normal driving resumed. I contacted my local dealership for service and over the next couple of days had a wrech symbol pop up twice and that said SEE MANUAL. Nothing in my owners manual helped me solve that. And the truck would only accelerate very slowly until you got up to around 35mph then normal driving resumed. . On the next occassion a few days later, while driving to the dealership for service regarding this issue the problem occurred again under nearly identical conditions. This time the at faster/express way speed of 70mph. This cause not only a sudden jerk forward but also caused me to jerk my steering wheel sending me into another lane. No other drivers were next to me and no one was hurt, injured, or damaged. Normal driving resumed after a few seconds. While researching this issue online I was able to discover hundreds of accounts for drivers wanting to know why their transmissions suddenly downshifted on them too. These issues are problematic at best and deadly at their worst. In 2013 you determined these issues were so bad as to result in a national recall. The same problem is still occurring. I reached out to Ford and this is my problem they say.

While driving on the highway at highway speeds 70 mph the truck automatically shifted from 6th Gear to first gear nearly throwing me through the windshield. It went back in the regular gear and started driving fine within a couple of weeks it got to where it would shift erratically all the time and not start half the time at this point it will not start at all.the gear indicator light does not illuminate. The computer cant recognize what gear it is in. I spoke with a Ford representative there was a recall for 153,000 vehicles with the same problem but mine was not one of them. Upon looking into it further I found nearly 300 other drivers with the same exact issue. Later calling the Ford dealership to get parts to repair the transmission I was laughed at and told he has seven of those trucks waiting for the parts to fix them on his lot now. I spoke with a different Ford dealership that gentleman told me he cannot get them parts to repair them either even though the computer is showing that there's over 70,000 of those parts in a warehouse and that Ford was holding on to them like gold and no one could get them not even at dealership. There are many People on forums complaining about the issues and dealerships telling me they have trucks there with the same issues and no one can get parts... seems to me that there is a major issue with these Transmissions. One forum a gentleman stated that he changed the lead frame in the transmission and that was the entire problem. Any help from your offices great appreciate it by all the owners, myself included. I have been in the loyal Ford owner of my entire life and cannot believe how treating their customers! Thank you

while driving the vehicle the transmission down shifts without warning and engine light come on, i also hear the coolant fan come on, so i go from driving 40 mph to 30 mph and engine is running in a high RPM. sometimes the cruise control comes on. other times the transmission is just stuck in gear, for example if i slow down to a red light, it stays in 5 gear. very hard to stop. then the light changes the car does not want to go because it is 5 gear, so it takes a long time to get going, it pops in gear and just takes off almost hitting the car in front of me

While driving vehicle under normal conditions, a yellow wrench appeared on dashboard and truck went into a “limp” mode like state; gear shifts were no longer illuminated and felt as though the truck was in neutral; after a few minutes the wrench light will disappear and vehicle will drive normally. This happens at least once every hour or so.

The vehicle has the same Lead Frame assembly as 2011-2013 Ford F-150's that were involved in a recall. I have had a failure to start, as well as a change in gears while driving at low speeds due to this faulty module. This caused an engine over-rev condition. I have attempted to contact Ford about this but stated they would only replace it under an extended warranty if forced by your organization.

While driving on a hilly and curvy 2 lane highway the engine lost all power. Warning lights came on such as a wrench and “see manual”, service advancetrac, hill assist not available. The car was steerable but stalled out in the traffic lane as there was no suitable shoulder to pull over. The car was idling a bit rough, but there was no throttle response. Turning the ignition off, the car then restarted and ran perfectly with no warning lights…til it did it again a few miles later. Restarted it, drove to a safe place. Put a code reader on it. P2112 (Throttle actuator stuck shut). Took to a Ford Dealer where for $714 they replaced the Electronic Throttle Body. Driven about 1000 miles and no further problems as of yet. I believe this is a serious safety issue due to the unpredictable nature of the car stalling, and risk of accident while in heavy traffic. There should be a better “limp mode”, than to shut off all throttle response to what is otherwise a perfectly working engine. This truck has low mileage, trouble free (til now) and we’ll maintained. Unfortunately I forgot to ask to see the removed ETB.

Transmission refused to down shift from 5th gear or go over 55 mph. Truck began to shutter and the powertrain wrench error code appeared on the dash. Truck also began to have a clanking sound. The truck jerked violently at 50 mph causing the safety of myself and 3 other passengers at risk. The Marshal Mize Ford dealer in Hixson, TN confirmed the transmission lead frame was faulty, just like the Ford recall for the 2011-2013 F150 truck.

I was on my way to work the truck started just fine ran just fine the day prior. I was leaving my neighborhood and my truck felt like it was stuck in 3rd or 4th gear. So i pulled to the side of the road after existing the neighborhood. Nearly causing an accident. Shut the truck off. And started the back back up and seemed like everything was fine. I started to head toward work again and the dash lights lit up and the truck started to down shift really hard. I easy the truck off the road and called my father. As i waited for him to get there to plug the truck up. Once he plug in his scanner i got the p0706, p0705 code. The truck would not start back up. I had a toad to Ford and they Advise me that it was the lead frame the simiconductor Needed to be replaced. I don't understand why Ford is putting Customer's lives at risk This has been an ongoing problem with these transmissions some customers have to pay for them some customers don't. I believe #FORD should be held responsible. I could have been seriously injured. But since corporate America Holds all the power and persuasion this complaint will go on notice

On the 2016 F150 - the first time it occurred I was driving on the interstate at 70 mph and all of a sudden the truck down shifted from 6th to 5th causing a slight lurch. Later it would not down shift from 3RD down. Causing the truck to start in third gear. I took to a repair shop and they indicated that it needed part #AL3Z7G276D, a “connector” for the transmission and that it was not safe to drive. They stated that at any rate of speed it could suddenly down shift to 1st. Ford is the only place to get this part and they refuse to send it unless it is at one of their dealerships. The dealership has had the part on order for a month with no hope in sight because they refuse to complete the extra paperwork to get the part. So now I have a truck that is unsafe to drive with Fords unwillingness to ship The part. The dealership has told me that this has been a common issue on this transmission - was recalled on the 12-13 models and should be extended to other years.

Sep 20, 2022

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH and exiting the highway, the transmission erroneously downshifted causing the vehicle to abruptly decelerate with the check engine warning light illuminated. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated normally however, the failure reoccurred and the vehicle stalled and would not immediately restart. After disconnecting and reconnecting the battery cables, the vehicle was able to be restarted. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who performed a transmission software update but the failure persisted along with several additional electrical failures. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission leadframe was faulty and needed to be replaced; however, the parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 99,800.

Transmission slips into neutral and downshifts to first while driving sometimes. It also tends to kick when giving gas after stopping.

Aug 23, 2022

Sensors inside transmission shorted out and would cause forced down shifting at highway speed and tires to break traction on wet roads. Dealer stated this issue was recalled on most similar transmissions, but not on the F150. Engine went into limp mode constantly and transmission seemed to want to lock up. A wrench error code was on dash display. Symptoms started in June 2022 and repairs we made July 28, 2022 after a 3 to 4 week wait for replacement parts. Again, dealer informed me of TSB put out for most other vehicles with the same transmission. $1200.00 repair

I was driving on the freeway 50-60 mph ,my transmission downshifted suddenly, my rear tires locked up, causing my truck to slow down violently. I looked at my dash and the shift indicator was flashing. I had a wrench appear on my dash two days earlier and called my local Ford dealer for maintenance and was given an appointment in about a week , I was told that wrench could mean 400 things. I made my appointment the following wednesday and was told the lead frame connector was faulty and the part would be ordered. One month later still no part or repair. I was told it would be covered under my extended warranty I had purchased from Ford.

2016 Ford 150 6R80 auto transmission. I was driving downhill on a paved county road coming to a stop. Pulled onto 2 lane highway, accelerated, then tranmission hard down shifted unexpectedly to limp mode. Engine ran in high idle and would not shift up. Wrench light lit up. I'm lucky nobody was coming up behind me or I wouldn't be here to submit this! The dealer was relatively close, so I went directly, and slowly, there. Dealer pulled codes P0706, P0707, P0720, P0722, P1921, P1702, P0722. They confirmed it was a faulty molded lead frame. Dealer was not able to get transmission to shift, and then it wouldn't start at all. $1300 repair. This happened July 6. Part is not available till Aug 30????!!!! I'm a carpenter. This truck is my living! Thank God this didn't happen at full highway speed like it has to others. This problem was a recall in 2011-2013 models. How is this not a safety recall now? This is dangerous! Get your stuff together, Ford! The contact stated it doesn’t appear they are including enough model years to resolve the issue fully.

Jul 14, 2022

The transmission is malfunctioning. The vehicle loses power, and can not accelerate or maintain speed while driving. I have had to pull over on expressways multiple times to shut vehicles off to reset the issues. The vehicle has been inspected by a Mechanic and determined the P0722 Output Sensor is bad. Also, report error code P061A. I have spoken with and attempted to schedule appointments with two different Ford Dealerships that have stated the part is not available and they will not/can not schedule an appointment to repair the issue. This is a recurring issue.

My 2016 Ford F-150 will periodically stall. The stall could occur while stopped (at a light or to make turn), while in park and only idling, or when the vehicle was in motion at less than 25 mph. If it stalled while starting a turn, then there was a serious risk of major collision from oncoming traffic. If the oncoming vehicle did not recognized the vehicle was stalling, or had otherwise failed to properly evaluate the situation early enough then a collision would be likely. A scan of multiple Internet web sites found thousands of people, with similar model years and the same engine, 5.0L Coyote, having the same or similar issue.

Transmission shifts hard or may shift up or down when it shouldn’t. Get warning message in dash. Took to dealer a couple months ago . Was told part was back ordered and didn’t know when they would get it. My research online indicates this is a common problem. I believe this is a safety issue that could cause an accident.

The problem that is happening to my vehicle and other 2016 F150s is Galvanic corrosion on the transfer case and transmission housing that is causing the housings to leak fluid and can cause catastrophic failure of either the transfer case or transmission. The Galvanic corrosion is happening due to non-coated steel fasteners being used on an aluminum housing. Which is not industry standard. See article below posted on SAE.org This vehicle is available for inspection upon request. This corrosion has caused a leak in the transfer case and could cause failure of the transfer case and/or the transmission which could in turn cause severe bodily and property damage if this occurred while operating the vehicle at highway speeds. The problem is being reproduced on all 2016 F150s that share the same non coated fasteners. See links for examples of the problem happening to other owners: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/transfer-case-corrosion-leakage-505822/ https://www.f150ecoboost.net/threads/transfer-case-corrosion.84551/ This component has not yet been inspected. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior. The SAE has an article on this topic and how manufactures should prevent galvanic corrosion. See link below: https://www.sae.org/publications/technical-papers/content/932357/#:~:text=Although%20aluminum%20on%20its%20own,can%20lead%20to%20severe%20corrosion. That article was written in 1993. Ford should not have sold a vehicle that had components that would absolutely fail and knowing it could be prevented. Thank you for your time I hope we can help all the owners that are experiencing these problem and we can help avoid people from being injured by getting ford to recall this defection.

While driving, the transmission sticks or will not shift. A wrench flashes and has only produced a check engine light one time. Code P0715 - Irregular signal coming from the input/turbine speed sensor in transmission. If it does shift, it is hard and jerks the vehicle. This has only happened a few times while driving but I found a Ford TSB for earlier models (2011-2013) having the same issue.

Vehicle transmission/drive train shifted into neutral and dash flashed Service AdvanceTrac & Hill Decent Control Fault warnings while traveling on highway at 70 MPH towing trailer. No advanced warning of issue or warning of power loss. Transmission shift controls had no control of power train. Engine appeared to go into idle mode. This system fault placed the safety of vehicle driver, passengers and nearby vehicles at high risk. Luckily vehicle was topping a rise and gravity maintained speed to coast to shoulder of busy highway. And there was a shoulder on the highway. Turned off vehicle, restarted and appears to be operating normally. Waiting for dealer service to diagnose vehicle.

I was driving my 2016 Ford F150 truck on an I-91 at usual highway speeds 65 mph in cruise control when I felt and heard a loud bang and the truck jerked and I applied the brakes and came to a stop. I was unable to move the vehicle off the highway. As it turned out the driveshaft was sheared off the transaxel transfer case. I called 911 and the state police and local fire department arrived. The towing company could not move the back wheels when they pulled the truck onto the towtruck platform as the back axel was locked up. This could have resulted in an injury to myself or to other cars around me. Fortunately I was on dry pavement and the vehicle did not swerve into other traffic. The truck was towed to the local Ford dealer. I was told that the transfer case had a crack and leaked oil causing it to seize up. However, I have had no oil leak in my driveway where I park the vehicle and have had no incidents in which the tranfer case has been hit by any large or hard object to cause any cracks in the case. No warning lights went on prior to this incident and the truck had been driven earlier in the week without incident or warning.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 50 MPH, the transmission suddenly downshifted into an unknown gear, and the vehicle jerked and shuddered. Additionally, the engine revved loudly. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000. 26 Apr 2022 update: Traded vehicle to dealership in York, PA on 25 Feb 2022 due to being told that the parts were unavailable from Ford. Later on, got a call from a different Ford dealership that they located a replacement part (AL3Z 7G276 D) Molded Lead Frame. I repurchased the vehicle from the dealership (at a higher price) and had the work performed by L&L Ford in East Berlin, PA. Ford agreed to a cost share of the repair, however my outlay was $348.74 plus the cost of purchasing the vehicle back from the dealership (~$1600). The Molded Lead Frame contains the Transmission Range Sensor component. At this point, this issue has cost me approx. $2000.00 to resolve when it should have been a safety recall.

My wife and I were traveling to our home in the truck. When preparing to turn left off the main road, I noticed that the turn signals were not working, requiring me to go to the right off the side of the road, as there was heavy traffic behind us. While on the side of the road, I tried the windshield wipers, window sprayer, and turn signals. None were working. I turned the engine off and then restarted the truck, and limped home. After getting home, the truck was parked while looking for a mechanic to fix whatever was wrong with it. It was recommended to me that the "Wiper Multi-switch" be replaced. This did not eliminate the problem. I then arranged for the Ford Dealer, Woody Anderson Ford, to take the truck in and fix it. The Dealer says the truck has had a major electrical failure and doubts that can be fixed.

Jan 20, 2022

I was driving on the interstate and the vehicle displayed a Blind Spot failure in the middle of the instrument cluster. At that same moment the truck abruptly down shifted almost causing me to loose control and the car behind me to take evasive action off the shoulder of the road. The truck engine was still running but pressing on the accelerator had no response. I had to attempt to navigate two lanes to my left through traffic with no power and in a coast mode. If I were pulling my trailer I would probably not be alive to write this. I took truck to Dave Knapp Ford dealer (where I bough it new). They indicate it is module in the transmission with known issues in various years. They pulled computer info and confirmed what I have written here with exact mph etc. They indicate that this is not a recall. I believe all F150 drivers should be aware of this and are at risk of death or injury.

While driving at 50 mph, automatic transmission put itself in 1st gear. Tires squealed, and engine revved. luckily, no other traffic in area. Transmission self corrected after a few seconds. The weather was dry. Temperature in the low 40's. Other similar occurrences were when starting from a stop sign or red light, transmission stayed in 1st gear. On all above occasions, the dashboard display simply said to see owners manual. My impression is the transmission is believing I am in manual mode for a few seconds.

Dec 3, 2021

during normal highway crusing, the transmission gear indicator started flashing and experienced loss of power, as if the car was in neutral causing me to decelerate. sometimes when the transmission "catches" again, it'll catch in a lower gear such as 2nd, which will cause rapid deceleration. Multiple times I've been worried about getting rear ended when this happens. This issue happens about 3 times per week. Dealership can't diagnose and I even have a video of this happening. Dealership states tranmission repairs are over 3 weeks out. Simply unnacceptable.

From reading others experiences in this model of F150, I think it was the throttle body. Coming out of a complete stop, I pressed the throttle all the way down. The truck began accelerating, then the dash started chiming, and the truck would lurch forward and back. At this point, the throttle was completely unresponsive. After getting the truck to the side of the highway, 'Service Advance Track' was on the dashboard screen, followed by 'Hill start assist not available'. The local Ford dealership looked at it, and said they fixed it. However, in the past few months it has happened 6 more times. There were no symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

Oct 4, 2021

Hello, Thank you for reviewing this issue. My 2016 F-150 would shift into neutral or 1st gear without warning, even at high speeds. This would cause the rear end to lock-up. Driving at highway speed, then it would go into neutral then into 1st then resume a higher gear. The drop to first required you to hang on, wet or slippery conditions made it dangerous. After a couple of trips to a dealer (without much help at all) and finally at an expert transmission shop (very helpful), we identified the internal transmission speed sensor and gear selection leadframe assembly failed, intermittent behavior resulted. This started about a year ago or two ago with rare and random flickering of gear selections, eventually becoming the issue described above. No codes were thrown until the problem got so severe (longer than 1 second failure) that the computer finally reported a code. The component, purchased with an entire valve assembly (because the part isn't available for 4-6 months) was replaced and the issue is gone. Feel free to call me. The transmission suddenly downshifts into first gear from 5th gear at higher speeds, causing a rapid loss of speed. The transmission also has hard shifts, the above problems have happened on several occasions. From safety standpoint the sudden downshift could cause a accident. There were no warning lamps or alarms. I have not had the truck inspected by anyone as it just happened. I have not taken it to a dealer.

I have a critical safety issue with the 2016 F150 truck I bought from Cavalier Ford, Chesapeake VA. The issue is the 6R80 automatic transmission unexpectedly changes gears while driving. In my case the truck down shifted from high gear to low gear on the interstate while driving about 70 miles per hour. I was fortunate no other cars were near me. My truck almost came to a stop, no brake lights displayed. This occurred the week on Jul 6 2021. It has occurred multiple times since than as well. I had the battery checked, showed bad, and bought a new one Jul 9th. I also had the "Check Engine" light scanned at Autozone. It revealed codes P0706/707, ie Range Sensor inside the transmission. I called Cavalier for an appt (Aug 11th almost a month away!!!), informed it would be $140 for a diagnostic!! It was free at Autozone. I also had another free scan done at Logan's Auto repair on Jul 22nd, having codes P0702/705/706/707/1921, all pointing to the Range sensor in the tranny. I spoke with Cavalier representative Nicole on Jul 16th, no help, and also left Service Mgr. Cathy Hunt. a voicemail on Jul 23rd explaining my dilemma. She has not returned my call. My status now, I have a 2016 F150 Ford truck, I urgently need to work and daily errands, ie Grandkids. There was a recall on this issue on the 2011/12 F150s. How come not now, its a major safety issue, and I see a lot of these trucks around. I wanted to convey this to Ms Hunt. Summary...the motor in this truck blew up at approx 39000 miles, and Ford did replace it. Now, at 79000 miles the transmission is also gone out. Since my extended warranty of 75000 just expired, I need some assistance from either Cavalier or the Ford plant. I need a reliable truck for work and taking care of the grandkids. If no one has reached out to me my COB Jul 28th 2021, a safety complaint will be sent in to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration...Thank you

This has happend three time already, My son has a code reader thing that when he plugged it to My truck this code came up P0720. Had to park My truck at home for My worry and safety. My son took it to the Ford dealership and got it a diagnostic test done. On way over there He said the truck drove fine. The dealership test said it was Lead frame Connector. They have to change that and drain the oil of transmission and refill it again. Its almost a month My truck has been park here at home.

EARLIER THIS YEAR, MY F-150 STARTED SHOWING SIGNS OF OVERHEATING. A DIAGNOSTIC WAS DONE AND SHOWED NOTHING. FOLLOWING THIS I HAD THE THERMOSTAT REPLACED 3 TIMES. I WAS EXPERIENCING 'LIMP MODE' WHERE I'D BE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE TRUCK WOULD GO FROM 65 TO 20 IN SECONDS WITH ONLY A "BING" SOUND AS A WARNING. I RESEARCHED ON LINE TO LEARN WHAT THE CAUSE MIGHT BE.AND DETERMINED IT WAS PROBABLY THE ETC SENSOR/KNOCK SENSOR. MY REGULAR MECHANIC WOULD REBOOT? THE COMPUTER SYSTEM AND IT WOULD WORK FOR A WHILE AND THEN THE SAME THING WOULD HAPPEN. I FINALLY WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE TRUCK. DUE TO THE UNPROFESSIONALISM OF THIS DEALERSHIP, I WAS COMPELLED TO CONTACT FORD CORPORATE OFFICE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND THERE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT, THEY WERE NOT IN A LARGE ENOUGH NUMBER TO WARRANT A RECALL.

THE TRUCK MAKES A LOUD TRANSMISSION SQUALL UNDER LOAD IN A DOWNSHIFT. THIS IS A CONSISTENT ISSUE THAT FORD AND THE LOCAL DEALER CONTINUE TO SAY THEY CANNOT REPEAT. ANYTIME I DRIVE THE TRUCK IN TERRAIN IT HAPPENS. AND I DO NOT OFF ROAD THE VEHICLE, BEFORE YOU START ASKING THOSE QUESTIONS. ALSO WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS COLD/AMBIENT TEMP, THE SHIFTING IS INCREDIBLY ROUGH, AND JERKY. NOT JUST A LITTLE BUT THE WHOLE TRUCK WILL LUNGE. THIS IS A 5.0 V8 TRUCK, NOT LIGHT AND FOR IT LUNG IS DISTURBING. I AM SURE IF THIS HAPPENS IN CLOSE TRAFFIC SOMEONE WILL HIT SOMETHING. ONLY A MATTER OF TIME.

INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF REVERSE GEAR TO ENGAGE. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE REVERSE GEAR FAILS TO ENGAGE AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO SHIFT INTO AND OUT OF GEAR. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ELECTRONIC CONTROL ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING CONTROL AS IT EVENTUALLY RESOLVES ITSELF AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. THE PROBLEM IS BOTH INCONVENIENCE AND SAFETY AS BACKING UP IS OFTEN NECESSARY TO EXECUTE A NORMAL TURN AROUND. AN ACCIDENT RESULTING IN TWO INSURANCE CLAIMS RESULTED FROM THIS DEFECT; I WAS ATTEMPTING TO BACKUP IN MY HOME DRIVEWAY AND THERE WAS DELAY IN THE REVERSE GEAR ENGAGEMENT; NOT FULLY COMPREHENDING WHAT WAS GOING ON, I PRESSED ON THE GAS TO PROCEED WHILE REVERSE WAS NOT ENGAGING. THEN THE TRUCK SUDDENLY ENGAGED IN REVERSE AND I LURCHED BACKWARD HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE BEFORE I COULD APPLY THE BRAKE. TOTAL DAMAGES FOR BOTH VEHICLES EXCEEDED $15,000.

THE VEHICLE STALLS BETWEEN SHIFTS. IT HAS HAPPENED AT ALL SPEEDS. FREEWAY, PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVE. IT HAS STALLED WHILE IM TRYING TO TURN LEFT IN FRONT OF UNCOMING TRAFFIC. NUMEROUS WARNING LIGHTS FILL THE DASH. NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. AFTER YOU CAN PULL IT OVER, TURN IT OFF, WAIT A FEW SECONDS, THEN RESTART IT RUNS FINE. TIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN OUT OF THE BLUE. IVE HAD IT INTO MY FORD DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES NOW AND THEY STILL CANT FIX IT. HAPPENED JUST YESTERDAY, ABOUT GOT HIT BY AN ON COMING VEHICLE. LUCKILY, AFTER A HORN AND SLAMMING ON THEIR BRAKES, THEY STOPPED TO SEE IF EVERYTHING WAS OK. AGAIN SLOW SPEEDS OR FAST, IT JUST STALLS. YOU ARE LEFT WITHOUT POWER WHEN YOU NEED IT THE MOST. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE ON THE FREEWAY, JUST A SHUTTER AND IM LEFT ROLLING WITH NO POWER. ITS HAPPENED PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. ITS HAPPENED TURNING INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. FORD WONT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. AGAIN 3 TIMES IN THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ALWAYS SAY "WITHOUT A TROUBLE CODE THERES NOTHIJG WE CAN DO". THIS IS GOING TO GET SOMEBODY KILLED. COULD HAVE BEEN ME JUST YESTERDAY.

VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING BOTH FROM A STOP AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I SHUT OFF VEHICLE AND RESTARTED IT WHICH SEEMED TO TEMPORARILY SOLVE THE PROBLEM ONLY TO HAVE IT REOCCUR DAYS LATER. ENGINE CODE REGISTERED ON THE DASH DISPLAY. CODE WAS RETRIEVED (P2112) WHICH CORRELATES TO A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS PROBLEM WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY REPLACEMENT, BUT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY, SO I WAS FORCED TO REPLACE IT MYSELF AND PAY FOR THE FAULTY PART. MY VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 36,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF THIS INCIDENT. WHEN THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER IN TRAFFIC, IT IS DEFINITELY A LIFE, HEALTH, SAFETY ISSUE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS EXAMPLES THAT CAN BE FOUND ON THE INTERNET OF THIS DEFECTIVE PART/THROTTLE BODY ON VARIOUS FORD VEHICLES. I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD INITIATE A RECALL FOR OBVIOUS SAFETY REASONS. FORD HAS PUT OUT VARIOUS TSB'S REGARDING THIS DOCUMENTED PROBLEM.

WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY ON 8/30/20, THE TRUCK EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF FORWARD MOTION, BEGAN "BUCKING" AND CODES AND WARNINGS STARTED APPEARING ON THE DASHBOARD. WERE ABLE INITIALLY TO COAST TO A SAFER LOCATION TO STOP. TRUCK WOULD NOT MOVE ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. TURNED THE TRUCK OFF, RESTARTED AND ALL CODES DISAPPEARED. HOWEVER, AS SOON AS WE STARTED AGAIN, WITHIN A QUARTER MILE, SAME FAILURE OCCURRED. IN 20 MILES, THIS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 6 MORE TIMES AND WE COULD NOT GET SAFELY OFF THE ROAD (NO SHOULDERS WITH DITCH ON SIDE) HAVING TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, TURN ENGINE OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE WHILE IN THE TRAFFIC LANE. VERY UNSAFE AND WE WERE LUCKY NOT TO BE HIT BY PASSING VEHICLES. AFTER RESEARCHING WHAT THIS POSSIBLE COULD BE, FOUND IT LIKELY THAT IT WAS A FAILURE OF THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, WHICH WAS THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL IN PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS OF THIS VEHICLE AS WELL AS A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ACTION #16B32 FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FOR OUR YEAR OF MANUFACTURE. (OUR TRUCK WAS MANUFACTURED IN DEARBORN DURING THE PERIOD THAT THIS ACTION WAS TO BE TAKEN 8/1/15 THROUGH 5/17/16.) MADE APPOINTMENT AT LOCAL DEALER AND OUR TRUCK WAS SERVICED YESTERDAY AT PITTSVILLE FORD IN PITTSVILLE MD AND THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THE ETB AND GASKET WERE REPLACED AT A COST TO US OF $551.14. I HAVE SEEN ONLINE THREADS OF OTHERS HAVING THIS SAME FAILURE AND WANT TO KNOW WHY OURS WAS NOT PART OF A RECALL OR OTHER, LONGER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ACTION, AS THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A SEVERE OR EVEN FATAL ACCIDENT. VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE THIS TYPE OF CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. I HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE FOR FORD AND MY QUESTIONS REGARDING WHY THIS WAS NOT ALREADY REPLACED AND HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER - CAS-27541116. TOLD OUR VIN WAS NOT A PART OF THIS ACTION. HOW?

DRIVING EASTBOUND ON I-10 AT 75 -80 MPH, ON A MOUNTAIN, SUDDENLY ADVANCTRAC FAULT WARNING AND ENGINE POWER LOST. VEHICLE ENTERED LIMP MODE. I WAS FORCED TO 'LIMP' ON THE SHOULDER TO REACH A SAFE AREA TO STOP WITH CELL SERVICE AND WAIT FOR A TOW TRUCK. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. SEMI TRAFFIC AT HIGH SPEEDS WERE BLOWING PAST VERY LITTLE SHOULDER SPACE TO NAVIGATE. AT EACH GUARD RAIL I WAS FORCED TO STOP - WAIT FOR A BREAK IN TRAFFIC- RESTART AND PRAY FOR ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO GET AROUND THE AREA. I FINALLY LIMPED INTO WILCOX AZ AND CONTACTED FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED 74 MILES TO SMITH FORD IN LORDSBURG NM $280. FRA ADVISED THAT DUE TO COVID 19 NO PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION IS AVAILABLE. NO ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION IS AVAILABLE IN WILCOX AZ. SMITH FORD SERVICE DOES NOT OPEN UNTIL MONDAY. NOT ONLY COULD I HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED ON THE INTERSTATE, I WAS PUT IN VERY HIGH RISK SITUATIONS BOTH DUE TO COVID 19 HIGH RISK IN THIS PART OF THE COUNTRY BUT ALSO MY PERSONAL SAFETY BEING ALONE WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION IN AN AREA WITH LIMITED RESOURCES. WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD AT A STEADY 35 MPH ON A 2% DOWNGRADE, SMALL CITY, DOUBLE LANE, ONE-WAY, DEBRIS FREE STREET, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTED ABRUPTLY FROM 4TH GEAR TO 1ST GEAR. I DID NOT MAKE ANY GEAR SHIFT LEVER CHANGES NOR DID I CHANGE ANY OPTIONS SUCH AS PUSHING THE SPORT MODE, TOW MODE,LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL, HILL DESCENT OR TRACTION CONTROL BUTTONS. I WAS SEATED COMFORTABLY, BOTH HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL, SEAT BELT FULLY ENGAGED WITH NO IN-VEHICLE DISTRACTIONS SUCH AS A PHONE OR RADIO TUNING. THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY RACED TO 6400 RPM CAUSING THE REAR WHEELS TO START A SKID EVEN THOUGH THE ROAD SURFACE WAS DRY AND FREE OF ANY DEBRIS. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 4 SECONDS I REALIZED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD FORCIBLY, ON ITS OWN, SHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR, SO I PUT THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL. THE DASH MOUNTED GEAR INDICATOR SHOWED 4TH GEAR DURING THIS ALTERCATION WHICH MADE IT HARDER TO KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON UNTIL I SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL. ALTHOUGH IT TOOK ANOTHER 5 SECONDS FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO RESPOND FULLY TO THIS INPUT, IT FINALLY WENT INTO NEUTRAL. SHORTLY THEREAFTER THE REAR WHEELS WENT INTO COAST MODE. I WAS ABLE TO NARROWLY AVOID COLLIDING WITH THE VEHICLES IN THE LEFT LANE BECAUSE OF MY QUICK CORRECTIVE ACTION OF PUTTING THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SELECTOR INTO NEUTRAL. I'VE NOT HAD THIS DANGEROUS SELF-SHIFTING TRANSMISSION TO 1ST GEAR AT HIGHWAY SPEED OCCUR BUT THE ONE TIME ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2019, BUT IT DOES STILL CONCERN ME. MY TRUCK HAD APPROXIMATELY ODOMETER 32,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF THIS OCCURRENCE. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW WITH 16 MILES AND HAVE NOT MODIFIED OR POURED ANY ADDITIVES INTO THE TRANSMISSION. MY TRUCK HAS NOT BEEN ABUSED OR TOWED. I SINCERELY HOPE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ANY OTHER 2016 F150 TRUCK OWNERS, BUT PERHAPS, UNFORTUNATELY IT MAY HAVE. I ALSO HOPE THIS HELPS IN MAYBE FINDING A FIX SHOULD THERE NEED TO BE ONE. *TR

THE WRENCH LIGHT FIRST CAME ON AROUND 42,000 MILES, BUT WOULD SHUT OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE TURNED OFF. IT CAME ON A SECOND AND THIRD TIME AROUND THE 50,000 AND 51,750 MILES. SOMETIMES IT WOULD COME BACK ON WHEN DRIVING AGAIN AND SOMETIMES NOT. THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT ABOUT 52,000 MILES. WHEN THIS CAME ON, IT WOULD STAY ON. THE TRUCK WOULD SEEM TO LOSE A LOT OF POWER AND THE RPM'S WOULD BEGIN REVVING HIGHER WHILE DRIVING. THIS WOULD BE DRIVING ON ALL ROAD CONDITIONS, HIGHWAY OR CITY, UP AND DOWN HILLS. WE HAD THE TRUCK IN TO CHECK AND THE CODE IT PROVIDED WAS 'DTC S-P0741 TORQUE CONVERTOR CLUTCH SOLENOID CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE STUCK OFF. WILL HAVE TO REPLACE TCC AND IF CONDITION STILL EXISTS, REPLACE THE MAIN VALVE BODY.' THE FIRST FORD DEALER (WHILE ON VACATION) MADE THE REPAIR, BUT THIS DID NOT REPAIR THE TRUCK. (THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN 131 MILES AFTER THE REPAIR AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN 40 MILES LATER OF THE WRENCH LIGHT WARNING.) TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE FORD DEALER WE PURCHASED THE TRUCK AT AND THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE TO THE ISSUE. THE FIRST TIME THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, WAS UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS AND NOT TOWING A CAMPER. ALL THE REMAINING TIMES THE WRENCH AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WAS WHILE TOWING A CAMPER. (NOT SURE IF THIS IS POSSIBLE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE OR NOT, BUT FEEL IT IS WORTH NOTING.) ACCORDING TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL, THE AUTO START/STOP FEATURE IS TO AUTOMATICALLY DISABLE WHEN A CAMPER IS HOOKED UP TO THE TRUCK. BUT THIS NEVER SEEMED TO AUTOMATICALLY DISABLE WHEN WE WERE HOOKED UP TO THE TRUCK. ANOTHER ISSUE IS WHEN STARTING THE TRUCK UP FROM A COLD START IT WOULD MAKE A RATTLING NOISE. THIS ONLY HAPPENS FROM COLD STARTS. IF THE TRUCK HAD BEEN RUNNER AWHILE, SHUT OFF AND THEN RESTARTED, IT DID NOT MAKE THE NOISE. FORD IS STILL TRYING TO DETERMINE WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS.

THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES TO GET REPAIRED FOR THIS ISSUE. I'M TOLD THAT IT'S A PROGRAMMING ISSUE EACH TIME. WE JUST TOOK MY 2016 F150 ECOBOOST TO WEST TEXAS OVER THANKSGIVING. TOWED UNDER 7500 LBS. TOWED COMPLETELY NORMAL THE WHOLE TIME (15 HOURS) UNTIL THE RETURN TRIP HOME. ABOUT 2.5 HOURS INTO MY RETURN TRIP (I WAS TOWING WITHOUT MY HUSBAND AND WITH TWO YOUNG KIDS ON A BACK HIGHWAY WITH NO CELL SERVICE AND ABSOLUTELY NO STOPS FOR 2 OF THOSE HOURS😯) I PULLED OVER TO SEE WHERE MY NEXT GAS STATION WAS AND MY TRUCK DIED. IT WOULD RESTART BUT WOULD DIE AGAIN. I FINALLY FIGURE I'M SCREWED, I'LL TRY AND JUST HIT THE GAS AND GO. SO I TOOK OFF AND BLEW THROUGH A STOP SIGN AND DIDN'T STOP UNTIL I REACHED A GAS STATION, WHERE IT DIED WHEN I STOPPED.. IT WAS SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND ALL THE REPAIR SHOPS WERE CLOSED AND THERE WEREN'T ANY PARTS STORES OPEN. I FINALLY UNPLUGGED THE CAMPER, THINKING IT WAS DRAINING MY BATTERY AND STARTED IT UP AND GASSED IT TO GET IT GOING AND DIDN'T STOP UNTIL I REACHED SONORA AND CAMPED FOR THE NIGHT, ABOUT 20 MILES AWAY. AND THEN MY TRUCK WAS TOTALLY FINE AFTER THAT. I NEVER HOOKED THE CAMPER BACK UP AND I HAD FILLED UP THE GAS TANK AND PUT FUEL INJECTION CLEANER INTO THE TANK AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY MORE STALLS. STEADILY INCREASING THE ACCELERATOR DOES NOT HELP THE TRUCK MAINTAIN OR INCREASE SPEED, ONLY TOTALLY FLOOR-BOARDING THE ACCELERATOR ALLOWS THE TRUCK TO SPEED UP. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION. WHILE IT MAY BE RELATED OR UNRELATED, THE TRANSMISSION ALSO JERKS WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND HAS A TENDENCY TO LURCH FORWARD WHEN GOING FROM 3-2-1 GEARS. THE TRUCK HESITATES WHEN SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 1ST GEAR.. THIS IS CAUSING A BUMP IN THE DRIVE TRAIN. I'VE TAKEN IT TO 3 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR BUT THEY CANNOT FIX IT. WHEN I STOP I HAVE TO WAIT ABOUT ONE TO TWO SECONDS BEFORE I CAN START BACK OFF. ITS BECOMING DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.

AS I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH, THE TRUCK SUDDENLY DECELERATED TO ALMOST A STAND STILL. TWO MESSAGES APPEARED ON THE DASH BOARD INFO SYSTEM. SERVICE NEEDED FOR HILL ASSIST AND ADVANCE TRAC, OR SOMETHING SIMILAR. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME, HALF MILE, AT A WALKING PACE WHICH WAS AS FAST AS THE TRUCK WOULD GO. THERE WAS NO WARNING. THIS IS A DEADLY FLAW. HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE FORD F150 IN YOUR DATABASE?

THERE APPEARS TO BE "SLACK" IN THE DRIVETRAIN, AS IF IT HAS A BAD UNIVERSAL JOINT. THERE IS OFTEN A CLUNK WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP. IT WAS RECENTLY CHECKED AT THE DEALER WHILE IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THEY SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I READ ON AN F150 FORUM SITE THAT THIS IS A RATHER COMMON COMPLAINT. THE DEALER HAS TOLD OTHERS THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. IT HAPPENS OFTEN WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN BUT OTHERS HAVE REPORTED IT ALSO HAPPENS TO THEIR TRUCK WHILE CRUISING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL.

HILL ASSIST AND AUTOTRAC MALFUNCTION. 2016 FORD F-150, LESS THAN 8,000 MILES. WARNING INDICATOR SUDDENLY COMES ON AND VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER GOING FROM HIGHWAY SPEED TO 2MPH IN SECONDS WITHOUT WARNING. HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN TWO WEEKS ON STRAIGHT, LEVEL ROAD, DRY AND CLEAR CONDITIONS. ONE TIME WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65MPH, OTHERS WERE CITY ROADS AROUND 25-35MPH. ONE TIME WAS AFTER A NORMAL RIGHT TURN, OTHERS JUST RANDOMLY WHILE TRAVELING STRAIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY BUT RESEARCHING ONLINE, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH F-150S. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL CONSIDERING THE DANGER POSED FROM A VEHICLE THAT SUDDENLY LOSES POWER AND DECELERATES WITHOUT WARNING. I ALSO READ ANOTHER ACCOUNT WHERE REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE SO IT REMAINS TO BE SEEN IF THIS FIX WORKS ON MY VEHICLE.

WHILE OPERATING MY 2016 FORD F150 LARIAT FX4 IN 4A MODE, I HEAR A AUDIBLY LOW NOISE EMANATING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE AS I ACCELERATE. THIS NOISE IS ACCOMPANIED BY A SLIGHT VIBRATION THAT IS FELT TRANSMITTING THROUGH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE NOISE AND VIBRATION IS ONLY DETECTED WHILE ACCELERATING AND ONLY WHILE ENGAGED IN 4A MODE. THERE IS NO DETECTABLE NOISE OR VIBRATION IN 2H, 4H, OR 4L MODES. THIS CONDITION IS PRESENT UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS AND DURING IDEAL WEATHER CONDITIONS. DRIVING ON FLAT, STRAIGHT HIGHWAYS AND ROADS, NOR TURNING OR TOWING DOES NOT AFFECT THE NOISE OR VIBRATION THAT I AM DETECTING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

PLEASE CONTACT ME ASAP. I HAVE A DETAILED LIST OF DATES AND OCCURANCES ALONG WITH ALL EMAIL CONVERSATIONS WITH FORD. FORD SOES NOT BELIEVE THIS IS A PROBLEM AND SEEMS TO IGNORE THE SAFETY CONCERNS.
