The Hood is peeling the clear coat. The upper cab on both drivers side and passengers side from front to back is down to bare metal. Top of the pickup box is down to the bare metal along both sides. Tailgate top is down to bare metal. These spots are clearly do to the prep and paint work.
LaFontaine Ford Birch Run MI falsified recalls on my 2016 f150. They claimed they were done, however i have had several other Ford dealers state that there is missing parts and it was obvious it was not completed. This recall is for my door cables freezing up making it unsafe for me to commute when cold. I have held my door shut all the way to work multiple times because it would not latch. Other ford dealers near me quoted me 2 thousand to fix both front doors. I reached out to Lafontaine myself, they seemed to have wanted to help right away but as soon as they heard more of the story they quickly began to not answer my calls. (Service managers).
The frame is rotting through. It was on a lift for a new starter; this resulted in the frame bending. It will not pass inspection. Ford refuses to repair /replace the frame as it is past their 5 year rust warranty. The vehicle has only 15000 miles. It has never been immersed in fresh or saltwater. The undercarriage has been sprayed off regularly when driven in the winter.

The door latches on some of the f150s, including mine, freeze under certain weather conditions. This presents the latches from opening. This can trap an individual inside in an emergency situation, or prevent someone from opening the door external to remove or address babies and children, which is an issue I experienced. Ford is aware of the problem, but will not repair unless the issue is replicated in an unrealistic environment. This leaves many owners at risk of a dangerous situation should the issue occur in a non-controlled environment. The inverse issue can also occur, where the door latches does not close properly and can cause the door to open during driving, and this has also been experienced. There are no warnings of the problem ahead of time.
Front passenger door failed to latch properly. The door will not close when pushed shut. Door is available for inspection upon request. Multiple family members ride in the front passenger seat and this door failing to close and latch properly does cause a serious concern for their safety. I avoid putting any passenger in the front passenger seat because it's is completely random if the door will latch and shut or if it will pop open while driving. Problem was reproduced and confirmed by local dealership but disputed by them. Vehicle has not be inspected by manufacturer, police or insurance. There was no warning lamps or messages of the problem prior to the failure. The only message is that the passenger door is open which is a typical message when any door is opened when entering and exiting the vehicle. It is not a warning. Just a reminder. Doors shutting, latching and locking properly are a major safety concern that no vehicle owner should have to stress over. I cannot safely put my family in this truck knowing that at any moment the door will not latch or that it will open as we drive down the road.

The contact noticed an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The contact who is an independent mechanic had the vehicle with a fractured sub frame and bracket. The contact stated that the sub frame had a 6-inch hole. The contact stated that the sub frame and the bracket needed to be cleaned and re-welded. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the contact stated that the metal showed stress cracks. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

Tailgate is corroding at the hinge assembly, due to aluminum body panel and steel hinges causing galvanic corrosion. Possible that the tailgate could fall off on the road from accidentally pressing automatic tailgate release on key fob if the hinge fails and/or in addition to a person getting hurt when opening the tailgate, or climbing in the truck bed, whie loading or unloading a heavy object should hinges fail. Ford engineering basically told me "oh well" and offered no help. I live in the rust belt. This has taken 7 years to show up.

APIM unit and plastic body components 2016 F150, 31,071mi., Sync3 v3.0.20204 Symptoms: Malfunction of the power window controls, radio controls and instrument panel. The APIM also controls many other safety functions, such as rear camera, safety lanes, park assist, backup guides, gps, cruise control, trailer/tow information, and other warnings/features. It is notable that Ford has issued recalls for the APIM due to safety issues in different year F150s, as well as Explorer, Escape, Expedition, Fusion and Lincoln models Navigator and MK2 models, to name a few. This has been reported once, I spoke with a Ford representative and he setup an appointment at the dealership that was to setup an appoint for diagnosis before they setup a repair/replacement appointment. An appointment to setup an appointment to setup a diagnosis appointment to setup a repair appointment. Seriously, what is up with that? Finally, a plastic component from a side-step flew of while traveling a highway, narrowly missing an on-coming car.
On 2/18/2019 took the F-150 to Mathews Ford Marion Ohio service to address several issues. First, the tailgate had unexpectedly opened striking a trailer jack and damaging the tailgate. Tailgate opening while driving with cargo could result in cargo falling onto roadway. Damaged tailgate remains on the truck and is available for further inspection. Second, the owner heard rubbing/grinding noises when switching in and out of 4 wheel drive. The service technician could not replicate either issue. On 11/29/2023 took the F-150 to Leroy's Service Center in Delaware Ohio as the dashboard indicated several messages including required oil change (although odometer showed an oil change was not needed for another 3,000 miles compared to oil change sticker on windshield), a large yellow wrench adjacent to required oil change message, a small yellow wrench below required oil change message, and a yellow check engine light. Twice there was sensation of slipping (applying gas but no movement). Once parked in Leroy's lot the truck could not be started. Service technicians suspected LEAD frame failure. Service technician replaced the original LEAD frame with Ford Part numbers 2592734 and aL3z-7g276-d 1x (off replacement part box). I retained malfunctioning part for inspection if desired. Numbers off the malfunctioning part include aL3p-7g276-ak a9-21416-0998 c108p; Ford b556d; 3264 487 321 09 330743; Continental 3a8214160008 a2c53308751. Malfunctioning transmission while driving could cause unexpected vehicle slowing or stoppage. In summary, experienced unexpected tailgate opening, History of transmission issues (unexpected sounds when switching into or out of 4 wheel drive), and failure of the LEAD frame with slipping and inability to start vehicle after it was parked.
Doors do not latch/stay latched when temperatures have dropped to freezing and below.

I would like to bring to your attention two safety concerns regarding the 2016 Ford F150 model, specifically related to the braking system and the panoramic roof hardware. I have experienced these issues which may pose potential risks and compromise the safety and functionality of the vehicle. Brakes Dragging or Caliper Seizing: Brakes on my 2016 Ford F150, which have experienced dragging brakes or caliper seizing. This issue can lead to premature wear of brake components and a decrease in stopping efficiency, compromising the vehicle's ability to come to a complete and timely stop. Such a condition poses a significant safety hazard, especially during emergency braking situations or when driving downhill. Panoramic Roof Hardware Made of Plastic: Another safety concern I have identified involves the panoramic roof hardware in the 2016 Ford F150. The hardware used in the construction of the roof assembly includes plastic pieces that may become dislodged and fall into the track, causing the roof to become stuck in a partially open or closed position. This malfunction could result in the inability to fully close the roof, leading to potential exposure to weather elements or reduced visibility while driving. All of these things the Ford Motor Company is aware of.
Rear window cracked for unknown reason, searched only and serveral trucks has same known issue
I've noticed on 2 separate occasions my tailgate opening while driving. I see I separate recall but it doesn't include my vehicle year.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 20-25 MPH, he heard water sounds coming from the body of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the door drains were inspected and drained; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer, Ford Service (1401 S Beacon Blvd, Grand Haven, MI 49417), where it was diagnosed that the sunroof rivets were installed incorrectly, causing water intrusion into the sunroof and curtain air bags. The dealer diagnosed that the sunroof, the sunroof frame and the curtain air bags needed to be replaced. The dealer forwarded the diagnostic report to the manufacturer, and the manufacturer agreed to partially cover the repair cost. However, the contact stated that the failure was due to a Manufacturer’s defect; therefore, the manufacturer should completely cover the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 18,500.

The trucks box frame is completely rusted. The truck is 6 years old, only been in Florida and has 36k miles. The safety of this vehicle is compromised and this matter is urgent.
I'm writing in concern about my 2016 F150 brake lights. This concern is due to the rear break light assembly is breaking for no reason. I am on my third set of break light assembly. The driver and passenger side rear break light assembly keeps breaking on its own. There have been no accidents involving the rear end of the truck . It's becoming a safety concern . Looking to see if any other incidents have been reported. Please see attached photos of the most recent break light assembly and take note when the break light assembly clips into the truck the mounts are completely broken . The plastic where the screws would be going from the bed of the truck are severely cracked.
Over a year ago Ford announced a recall because of unintended back tailgate release. At that time there was no solution. In December 2022 Ford announced a solution, and requested owners to schedule an appointment for a fix that would take no longer than 1/2 day. The tail gate has indeed opened unintended 4 times, including once on CO Hwy 285; presenting a serious hazard as I lost half the load on a winding mountain road. When I attempted to schedule an appointment at Auto Nation Ford to fix, they could not get me scheduled until March 14, 2023, that the repair would take at least one week because of 158 steps involved. I was also told that Ford would not cover the cost of a rental vehicle while the F-150 is in for repair. I sent a letter to Ford (available on request) over a month ago, but I have received no response. This is a major safety issue. I have also had damage to the tailgate caused by unintended release in the garage. Gone unnoticed until I opened the garage door. By unknowingly opening the garage door I have scraped the tailgate. Ford is clueless. Their dealers have no campaign code as they call it. When they research the campaign number given in the recall notice, they don’t want to have anything to do with it. I’ve asked Ford to find a dealer that will fix the vehicle during the prescribed timeframe to no avail. I have asked Ford for relief by finding a Dealer to fix under recall warranty and to pay for vehicle rental during the elongated repair period.

Repair place sent us to Ford dealer for repair of door latch, then Ford dealer told us it was not covered by recall. Amount charged was 189.99 and we still have problem with an estimate of around 700.00 for fixing the problem. We were told the latch problem was related to the aging of the latch. This truck is 2016.

Door will not latch while its cold Door will not stay closed when cold outside
I have a 2016 F-150 Platinum (VIN [XXX]) and live in West Palm Beach, FL where it rains almost every day. I have noticed over the last several months that I can't open or close (without slamming them) three of the doors. This is a safety issue and one that needs to be addressed ASAP. I have two little kids in car seats and I don't feel safe driving my truck with them in it as is. I have taken my truck in to two different Ford dealerships in the area and neither of them are able to fix the problem. There are two current notices (20M04 and 18N03) that I have received and Ford says it doesn’t apply because I live in Florida. I bought my truck in North Carolina and lived there for 2 years and it does freeze there so my truck should be covered under this. Again, with the way the doors are currently I feel that this is a major safety issue where in the event I need to get my kids out of the truck in an emergency I won’t be able to. We bought our 2016 F150 in 2019. We are not able to latch the driver's door so it is not closed and unable to be driven. There was a recall for this issue but we don't show anything via our VIN number. If it was fixed in a recall, it doesn't work now. What can we do in order to have it fixed?
The passenger door won’t latch when I open it. Then won’t latch to close. And my rear camera traffic warning randomly goes off without nothing being in the way annoying to say the least…….please help

PERIODOCALLY, UNABLE TO SECURELY LATCH PASSENGER DOOR.
Recently purchased a 2016 Ford F150 and am having the same issues as reported by multiple other customers. Once the weather approaches freezing temperatures, the door latch fails. Very simple, got into the truck and when closing the door, it will not latch and continued to open. I've found that pushing either the unlock or lock from inside the truck remedies this on the few occasions I've had it happen. My carfax indicates this has been reported to a dealership on multiple occasions w/o remedy. I've reviewed prior complaints and this has been reported several times in addition to occurring when in operation. I've yet to experience it happening when operating at this time. I've worked in the personal auto insurance industry for nearly 15 years and am quite certain this is an unacceptable manufacturer safety risk. Please recall and do the right thing here Ford. Thanks!

The electronic tailgate releases (opens) on its own either while the vehicle is in operation or while parked. This caused damage to the tailgate by an opening garage door and risks damage to traffic by the truck bed contents being expelled while underway. This defect has not been reported to a local dealer, manufacturer, police or insurance. There were no warnings, messages or other symptoms that preceeded the tailgate opening. This problem first happened approximately 08/01/2021 and has happened two more times since then during Aug 2021.
After a safety recall repair concerning the door latches not securing . The passenger door opened when I took a left turn. I took it back to the dealer that did the repair and the supervisor stated that the mechanic was dismissed after improper repairs were conducted. Every once in a while the door latch does not secure causing the door latch to stay open. Additionally the back left door, under the same recall behaves the same way. It does not engage the door latch mechanism. I brought this to the attention of the repair facility and I was assured that there is nothing wrong with my doors securing to the latch. Yet, there seems to be a problem securing my door. There is no warning from the trucks system that a door is open or unsecured. My 72 year old mother was in the passenger seat when the door opened. Now she won't get into my vehicle for fear of her life. My back left passenger door swung open as I was backing out of my driveway. The dashboard did not indicate the door was open. The problem ONLY first appeared AFTER the safety recall repair was conducted. I have no confidence in my does being secured. The doors opening has happened several times. Since the repair sep 2018. The doors are not dependable and I must sell this truck in order to get my family out of any harm
THE TOP TRACK OF THE REAR WINDOW THAT HOLDS THE SMALLER SLIDING WINDOW IN PLACE BECAME COMPLETELY DETACHED FROM THE BACK WALL OF THE CABIN. THE SMALL WINDOW WAS BEING HELD IN PLACE BY THE LOWER TRACK ONLY. THIS CAUSED THE TOP TRACK AND THE SLIDING WINDOW TO LEAN INTO THE CABIN AWAY FROM THE MAIN REAR WINDOW. IT CREATED AN AIR GAP BETWEEN THE MAIN WINDOW AND THE SMALL WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DAMAGED IN ANY OTHER WAY. IT APPEARS THAT THE ADHESIVE HOLDING THE TRACK IN PLACE SIMPLY FAILED OVER TIME. IN MY OPINION THIS CREATED A SAFETY ISSUE. IF THE TRUCK HAD BEEN REAR-ENDED, I THINK IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE TOP TRACK AND WINDOW COULD HAVE BECOME COMPLETELY DETACHED AND CAUSED INJURIES TO PASSENGERS IN THE TRUCK.

THE SUN/MOON ROOF HAD BEEN RATTLING SINCE EARLY 2020 - MAYBE SINCE WE BOUGHT IT IN MARCH 2019. TAKEN TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES IN 2020 FOR THIS RATTLE. JUST PICKED IT UP (3/20/2021) AND BOTH SUNROOF GUIDES/RAMPS CRACKED AND ALL OF IT HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN - WHAT IF THE ENTIRE SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY WOULD HAVE SHATTERED? THANKFULLY, WE SPENT THE $3000 ON AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT STILL HAD TO PAY $148 TO GET IT ALL FIXED.

DURING COLD WEATHER THE VEHICLE DOORS WILL EITHER NOT OPEN OR WILL NOT SHUT ONCE OPENED UNTIL THE INTERIOR OF THE TRUCK WARMS UP. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK IN PREVIOUSLY FOR A RECALL ON THIS EXACT PROBLEM. THIS MORNING MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH SHUT AFTER I OPENED THE DOOR. I HAD TO PULL THE DOOR SHUT AND FINALLY GOT THE DOOR LOCKS TO HOLD THE DOOR SO I COULD DRIVE TO WORK. ONCE THE VEHICLE INTERIOR WARMED I WAS ABLE TO PROPERLY SHUT MY DOOR. I CALLED MY FORD DEALER TODAY AND THEY SAID IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM THAT HORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT FOR YEARS AND STILL HAVEN'T FIXED THE PROBLEM.

I HAVE READ THE FORD FORUMS, AND IT SEEMS AS THOUGH FORD F-150'S HAVE THIS AS A COMMON ISSUE IN COLD WEATHER CLIMATES. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS RECALLS FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE, BUT IT DOES NOT APPEAR BY MY VIN # THAT THERE IS AN ACTIVE OPEN RECALL. I WILL CHECK WITH FORD TO SEE WHAT THEY WILL DO TO REMEDY THE ISSUE.

HOOD WAS RELEASED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY (IT DIDN'T OPEN ALL THE WAY DUE TO THE SAFETY CATCH UNDER THE HOOD). THIS IS ABOUT THE 6TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IOVER THE LAST 2 YEARS BUT FIRST TIME IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. WE STOPPED USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO BECAUSE WE THOUGHT MAYBE OUR FOOT WAS ACCIDENTALLY HITTING THE HOOD RELEASE LEVER ON THE INSIDE PANEL. THEREFORE, THIS MOST RECENT TIME IT HAPPENED, WE DIDN'T HAVE A FOOT ANYWHERE NEAR THE HOOD RELEASE LEVER THE ENTIRE TRIP. HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP 2 YEARS AGO WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED AND THEY APPARENTLY DIDN'T FIX IT OR DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG.

MY VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 18N03 FOR THE DOOR LATCH FREEZING OVERNIGHT AND BEING UNABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR AFTER OPENING IT IN THE MORNING UNTIL IT WARMED UP. THIS WAS ORIGINALLY REPAIRED UNDER THE PROGRAM 18N03 IN MARCH 2019. IN FEBRUARY 2020 THE SAME DOOR LATCH HAD TO BE REPLACED COMPLETELY AS THE DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK UNLESS MANUALLY OPERATED FROM THE INSIDE. GIVEN THE SHORT TIME FRAME BETWEEN THE TWO REPAIRS THE ORIGINAL FREEZING AND BEING UNABLE TO LATCH MUST HAVE DAMAGED THE DOOR LATCH CAUSING IT TO FAIL LESS THAN A YEAR LATER. THE DEALER AND THE FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AGENT BOTH REFUSED TO REPAIR THE LATCH THE SECOND TIME UNDER THE PROGRAM COSTING ME $583 OUT OF POCKET.

THEN ONCE THE DOOR WAS PUSHED OPEN FROM THE INSIDE THE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE TRUCK SAT FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES TO WARM UP AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSE UNLESS YOU USED THE LOCK. CALLED THE FOX FORD BACK AND TOLD THEM AND THEY RESCHEDULED MY TRUCK BACK IN ON 01/13/20. THEY CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THAT THEY TOOK A LOOK AT THE DOOR AGAIN AND SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO EXCEPT PUT MORE LUBE ON/IN IT . AND THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE FOR ME IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN WITH OUT CHARGING ME OR HAVING ANOTHER RECALL. THEREFORE I AM NOTIFYING YOU.

SAFETY CABLES HELD BUMPER FROM FALLING OFF COMPLETELY. REVIEWED WITH SERVICE AT FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED. PRIOR TO REVEALING WHAT HAPPENED THE AGENT ACKNOWLEDGED HE HAS HEARD OF THIS ISSUE ON ANOTHER FORD TRUCK LOCALLY. IN THAT INCIDENT THE GATE WAS DESTROYED FROM LANDING IN ROAD. ONCE I REVEALED OUR INCIDENT HE INDICATED THAT IT IS NOT A WARRANTY MATTER EVEN THOUGH OUR VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD AT JUST 12,000 MILES. HIS ASSISTANT INDICATED THERE IS A PART AVAILABLE TO PREVENT THE GATE FROM BOUNCING AND SLIDING OUT. SUGGESTED THAT HAVING A PART AVAILABLE TO PREVENT WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO OUR TRUCK IS AN ADMISSION OF A FAULTY DESIGN. THE AGENT INSISTED THE HINGE ASSEMBLY IS NOT A FAULTY DESIGN AS THE GATES ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO BE LYING DOWN WHEN TRAVELLING. AT THAT POINT I CHUCKLED AND LEFT. OF COURSE TELLING HIM I WOULD NOT BE BACK FOR A 3RD NEW TRUCK. THIS ISSUE HAS THE POTENTIAL IF IT HASN'T ALREADY HAPPENED TO CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO PASSENGERS IN VEHICLES TRAVELLING BEHIND A FORD TRUCK THAT EXPERIENCES A TAILGATE HINGE MALFUNCTION.

THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35 DEGREES F AND I HAD USED THE REMOTE START FEATURE WHICH TURNS ON THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER. I STARTED DRIVING AND HAD JUST PULLED OUT OF THE PARKING LOT WHEN I HEARD THE SOUND OF THE GLASS CRACKING. I PULLED OVER AND TOOK PICTURES. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP AND TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION. THEY TOOK PHOTOS AND SUBMITTED TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR WARRANTY CONSIDERATION. IT WAS REJECTED. IT APPEARS THAT THE EITHER THE REAR WINDOW OR THE REAR DEFROSTER IS DEFECTIVE. I RECENTLY RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ABOUT THE DOORS COMING OPEN WHILE DRIVING, NOT SHUTTING COMPLETELY, ETC. I CALLED FORD MOTOR CO AND TOLD THEM I'D ALREADY HAD THE DOOR ISSUES ADDRESSED ONCE. DRIVER SIDE DOOR WON'T LATCH; USING REMOTE, DOOR WON'T UNLOCK. UNDER FREEZING CONDITIONS THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WON'T LATCH UPON CLOSING AFTER SITTING FOR AN HOUR OR SO. AMOUNT OF FORCE USED TO CLOSE THE DOOR MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. USING THE REMOTE, THE DOOR WON'T UNLOCK. THE KNOB ON THE DOOR GOES UP ABOUT HALFWAY AND THEN IMMEDIATELY DROPS BACK DOWN. THE DOOR WILL UNLOCK WITH THE KEY, BUT YOU CAN FEEL THE STRESS AS THE LOCK MOVES. APPEARS TO BE WATER RELATED. ONCE THE INTERIOR WARMS UP ENOUGH (UPWARDS OF 20-30 MINUTES OF IDLING, DEPENDING ON OUTSIDE TEMPS), THEN THE DOOR WILL LATCH AND THE LOCK WILL ENGAGE/DISENGAGE. PASSENGER DOOR UNAFFECTED AT THIS TIME, BUT IS VERY RARELY USED, MAYBE 30 TIMES IN THE FIRST SEVEN MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. WET ENVIRONMENT, 100+ INCHES OF RAIN PER YEAR. PROBLEM ONGOING.

PURCHASED TRUCK NEW, AT AROUND 5000 MILES THE DRIVERS DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE, AFTER REPEATEDLY SLAMING THE DOOR THE LATCH FINALLY LATCHED, IT HAPPEND SEVERAL TIMES SINCE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAID I NEEDED NEW LATCHES IN BOTH DOORS. THAY SAID IT IS A ISSUE ON ONLY THE UPPER LEVELS. AFTER WAITING A WEEK I TOOK THE TRUCK IN THAN THEY TOLD ME SOME OF THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER AND DON'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL RECEIVE THEM. I LEFT THE TRUCK UNTIL THEY GET IT FIXED. SEEMS LIKE A MAJOR SAFTY ISSUE IF YOU HAVE TO DRIVE WITH THE DOOR OPEN.

I WENT OUT TO MY TRUCK THIS AM TO GO TO WORK AT 6AM - 22 DEGREES. I HAD STARTED MY TRUCK REMOTELY A COUPLE OF MINUTES PRIOR. I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, EXITED TRUCK, DOOR STILL WOULD NOT LATCH SHUT. I LEFT IT SIT FOR A BIT. CAME BACK AN HOUR LATER AND DOORS STILL WOULD NOT LATCH SHUT. I THEN CLOSED THE DOORS, UNLOCKED THE LOCKS WITH REMOTE, LOCKED THE DOORS, DOORS WERE NOW LATCHED SHUT BUT NOW CANNOT UNLOCK DOORS WITH REMOTE.

FROZEN DOOR LATCHES ARE ONLY ABLE TO BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE (USING THE INSIDE HANDLES). AT TIMES, THE FROZEN DOOR LOCKS AND LATCHES WILL NOT RE-SECURE THE DOORS AND THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK OR THE LATCH WILL NOT SECURE AND THE DOOR WILL REMAIN UNSECURED/OPEN AND/OR UNLOCKED. OPERATOR HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM ON ANY OF THE OTHER DOORS - JUST THE DRIVER DOOR. VEHICLE IS A SUPERCREW MODEL. PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN OPERATOR HAS TRUCK OFF, OPENS THE DOOR, GETS IN VEHICLE, ATTEMPTS TO SHUT DOOR (DOESN'T LATCH), STARTS VEHICLE AND RE-ATTEMPTS (STILL DOESN'T LATCH), AND WILL EVEN OCCUR WITH VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO "D" (DRIVE) AND RE-ATTEMPTS (STILL DOESN'T LATCH). THIS OWNER AND OPERATORS OPINION THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS OTHER OPERATORS MAY NOT REALIZE THAT THE DOOR HAS NOT LATCHED AND MAY BE PUTTING VEHICLE INTO MOTION WITH AN OPEN/UNLATCHED DOOR.

ALL CAB INTERIOR NEEDS TO BE COMPLETELY REMOVED DOWN TO BARE METAL AND ALL GLASS AND THE CAB NEEDS TO BE REMOVED COMPLETELY FROM THE TRUCK FRAME TO BE REPAIRED. HOW MANY TRUCKS CAME OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE AND PASSED INSPECTION LIKE THIS I PURCHASED A NEW TRUCK NOT A CHOPPED TRUCK. TED BRITT FORD IN FAIRFAX VA. IS ZERO HELP SO FAR AFTER 3 WEEKS. SEAT HEADREST PROTRUDES TOO MUCH OUT OF THE SEAT AND IT PUSHES FORWARD HEAD OF SOME DRIVERS. THE ONLY ADJUSTMENTS AVAILABLE (SLIDE UP AND DOWN, TILT TOP FORWARD) DO NOTHING TO ALLEVIATE THE ISSUE. THE LACK OF ABILITY TO "SCOOT" THE ENTIRE HEADREST BACKWARDS CAUSES BACK AND NECK PAIN WHILE DRIVING FOR AS LITTLE AS 10 MINUTES. ONE SOLUTION PEOPLE ARE RESORTING TO IS TO RE-INSERT THE HEADREST BACKWARDS, BUT THE TILTING MECHANISM PREVENT THE HEAD FROM BEING STOPPED AND SENT BACKWARDS IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. ANOTHER SOLUTION IS TO RECLINE THE SEAT BACK SO MUCH THAT YOUR BACK IS NO LONGER SUPPORTED. AGAIN A SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN HITTING SMALL IMPERFECTION ON THE ROAD, EVEN IN DRY WEATHER, THE VEHICLE FEELS AS IF IT'S ABOUT TO FISHTAIL. SOME PEOPLE HAVE MENTION THE SUSPENSION IS TOO SLOW TO COMPENSATE FOR BUMPS AND THUS THE TIRE, FOR A SMALL AMOUNT OF TIME, DOES LOSE CONTACT WITH THE ROAD. MOISTURE GETS INTO THE LOCKING MECHANISM AND THEN FREEZES. AFTER OPENING THE DOOR THERE IS NO WAY OF CLOSING IT AS LATCHES DO NOT GRAB AGAIN OR ON THE OTHER HAND THEY DON'T RELEASE. TWICE NOW I HAVE BEEN OUT AND ABOUT AND HAD DOORS THAT WOULD NOT LATCH. I HAD TO DRIVE AROUND WITH MY 18 MONTH OLD SON'S DOOR HELD CLOSED WITH A RATCHET STRAP TO BE ABLE TO GET HOME SAFELY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD NEEDS TO SOLVE THIS.
