Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2017 Ford F-150. It was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. The contact stated that it was discovered that the mileage on the title was 205,690. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 104,000, and the Carfax report listed the mileage at 189,000.
Since the brake recall was performed when driving the brake light will come on in the instrument cluster. When the light comes on the brake pedal gets stiff. Like it's stuck and takes a little effort to break free. This is not present when the light is off. Before the recall was performed I never had an issue with the brakes or the light coming on. Also. The door ajar light in the instrument cluster comes on when all the doors are completely closed. Will turn off after pulling over and turning the truck off, and back on. Sometime it comes on for a whole day no matter how many times I restart it, then be fine the next time I use the truck.
Fords around the 2017 year have an issue with their backup cameras not working which is the issue mine is having. When putting truck in reverse backup camera is fully fuzzy with green lines or just goes fully back. It still beeps and can detect something close, but the actual camera doesn't work anymore.
I am writing to express my concern regarding a recurring issue with the backup camera on my 2017 Ford F-150 Larit. Although my vehicle is not currently included in any official recall, it is experiencing the same symptoms reported in recalled models—reporting distorted images, blue screens or total failure that compromise visibility and safety. This issue has been increasingly problematic, especially given the importance of a functioning backup camera for safe maneuvering and compliance, my truck is experiencing the same backup camera defect and should be included in this recall. On November 4th, I spoke with representatives from Ford Customer Service and Ford Consumer Relations to inquire whether the repairs might be covered under Ford’s goodwill policy. Unfortunately, I was informed that they would not cover the cost. Despite this response, I respectfully request that Ford reconsider covering the cost of diagnosis and repair under a goodwill policy. I am a loyal Ford customer and have maintained my vehicle responsibly. I would appreciate the opportunity to resolve this issue without undue financial burden, especially given its safety implications. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response and hope we can work together to ensure my vehicle remains safe and reliable.
I took my 2017 Ford F150 XLT super cab 4 x 4 into Matthews-Currie Ford dealership. It was diagnosed unsafe to drive. They replaced the transmission & driveshaft. The truck still was not functioning correctly. Took it back into the same dealership where they determine the engine was also bad. They ordered a junkyard engine that leaked all of the oil due to a loose or faulty oil pan plug. & had the truck in their possession for well over two months. The truck still does not operate correctly & they are refusing to stand behind their work. No warning lights. No indications of problem other than how it drove. There is no cooperation from another dealership due to this one working on it prior. I pay for an extended warranty that nobody wants to honor due to the fact that this dealership has worked on it and they don’t want to get involved after having all of this work done by somebody else. My safety was put at risk due to the fact that the driveshaft & transmission & engine were all failing at the same time & the dealership proved that by not letting me leave with my vehicle. Once they diagnose the issue. They said it was on roadworthy. This put me in a position of having to rent vehicles out of my own pocket & be reimbursed 50% of the cost of rental. They had the truck returned to them due to problems. They did not diagnose when I asked them to do a full diagnosis of the vehicle when I noticed it had an immediate problem one day into owning it. This worries me because not only do they want to not honor their work. They have caused additional electrical problems to the radio. & the air conditioner not cooling as it did before they replaced the engine. They stated maybe I should try to buy a more extensive Extended Warranty & they would consider fixing it. They treated me very unprofessionally & could not give a descriptive explanation of where they got the replacement used engine who rebuilt the transmission & why the electronics & air conditioner failed.
Backup camera quit working
The contact's husband owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her husband was stopped at a red light, the vehicle shut off with an "Alarm" alert message on the instrument panel. The contact's husband sought assistance and had the vehicle jumpstarted, and the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where an oil change was performed, and the battery was tested, and the contact was informed that the battery was in good condition. Upon leaving the mechanic, the vehicle shut off again but another attempt to jumpstart the vehicle failed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer. The vehicle remained with the dealer for four days; however, the dealer could not duplicate the failure. The failure persisted upon return of the vehicle and the vehicle was towed to LaFontaine Ford Grand Rapids (3385 Alpine Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49544); where it remained unrepaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 74,800.

Rear view camera shuts off intermittently or shows a degraded image while backing up which creates a safety hazard because I almost crash into objects or other vehicles due to limited visibility.
Truck has been downshifting at low gears prior to this main incident. Usually at low speeds between the 1-3 gears. But today I was driving down the highway at approximately 65 mph in the 6th gear and without warning it seemed to electrically down shift into 1st gear. I describe it as electrically because the Rpm’s dropped almost instantly for a second and seemed to reboot. Which is extremely dangerous especially on a busy highway. Not only could I cause me to crash but also others to wreck into my self and poses a incredible risk for my fellow drivers And this is the reason for my complaint. Going from the 6th gear to 1st has to be some sort of recall and or an indication of far greater problem. What is even more odd there have been no check engine lights on for any of these instances.
While driving aout 50 mph in drive truck suddenly downshifted to second gear locking the rear tires up and nearly getting rear ended by another car. The drive indicator light was flickering and the manual M2 was lit up as if it didnt know if it was in manual shift mode. stopped on the side of road and turned vehicle off and back on but problem continued. About a mile or so down the road the problem stopped. taking to the dealer today to have checked out. no codes were thrown.
Transmission suddenly downshifting. Slamming into gear. Not catching. Due to electrical problem.

Truck is dropping gears/drop into neutral/reverse/park while driving. Problem initially began only within the instrument cluster, but as time went on it progressed to dropping gears with erratic gear indication on the instrument cluster (flickering through P N D R M 1 2). A video can be provided upon request, but cannot be attached to this inquiry. Once the truck was taken into the shop I was made aware of other F150s of the same year/model having the same issue, and that Ford is currently investigating. The technician at the Ford dealership correlated the issue to the lead frame harnesses part.
Was driving down the highway and there was a strong smell like something electrical was burning. I thought it was someone's brakes or clutch burning. About 3 minutes later I stopped and went into a store and when I came out my whole back window was shattered. In doing research online, I see this appears to have been a common problem with Ford F150's since 2010.
My 2017 Ford F-150 demonstrates every single aspect of an existing recall for 2017 F150 vehicles. However my VIN number is not included in the recall. My truck shifts suddenly in and out of gear causing me to have momentary instances of no power. This has happened, for example, turning left on busy roads with acceleration disappearing in critical moments. The vehicle downshifts suddenly on occasion. The gear indicator moves rapidly between gear 10 and gear 1. The vehicle routinely does not downshift to 1st gear at stoplights. The vehicle often shifts hard from gear to gear. The vehicle sometimes cannot go to the next gear, say from 7 to 8, and will be in some version of neutral during this time before finally connecting. Electronic issue plague this particular vehicle. All of these items have been noted in the existing recall. I am requesting an expansion of the recall to include all 2017 Ford F150's with 10 speed transmission. Ford dealer has indicated I need to replace the transmission for close to $10K. And they noted they see this problem constants - showing me a stack of folios in their repair facility for the same reason. The problem has been diagnosed by Ford dealer and an independent qualified transmission specialist shop This is an ongoing issue - per the questions below there is no specific date associated with the issue.
I live in a cold climate, WA State, and own a 2017 Ford F150 XLT. On several occasions, both the drivers front door and passenger front doors have opened while driving without activating the door handle. This only occurs when it is wet with rain or snow and below freezing outside. On several occasions, when wet and cold, the doors on this truck will not latch shut as the latching mechanism is freezing on the interior of the vehicle doors. This truck has already been into the Ford dealer and the door recall notice has been addressed and fixed per Corwin Ford. The problem has not been resolved and continues to this day in an extremely dangerous state. I was advised there was nothing else they could do to help the door suddenly and unexpectedly opening issue and that I should contact both Ford and NHTSA. This is a very dangerous situation as my son was driving home from the ski resort, the doors would not latch shut and a passenger nearly fell out of the vehicle. This is unacceptable and extremely disappointing. I feel this safety issue has not been handled by Ford Motor Company and I am very afraid to have my son drive this truck in this dangerous condition. Please contact me regarding this complaint as I can give further details on the issue and send videos of this issue occurring. When this occurs, there are no warning lamps present. Please see the attached repair invoice for the recall notice.
The wiring for the rear defrost caught fire. A week later it caused the rear glass to completely shatter. We didn't know it was the rear defrost wiring until we had the glass replaced and were able to see the wires fried. I have farm animals and routinely leave my 3 children in their carseats in the truck with it running when it's cold outside and I feed our animals. If it had caught fire with my kids in the truck I wouldn't have known and they wouldn't have been able to get out. I talked to 2 Ford dealerships, 2 different lawyers and a service rep through Ford's website. Even though this exact issue is everywhere on Ford Forums no one will do anything about it because there's no current recall. The only thing we could do to make sure this doesn't happen again is to pull the fuse for the rear defrost. This is a devastating accident waiting to happen and no one will do anything about it.
The door locks on all four doors keep freezing and will not stay locked. I have to thaw them out with a hair dryer to get them to lock closed. With my kids in the vehicle and driving down the road at normal operating speeds the doors will just pop open enough to hear the road noise outside and the interior lights come on along with the doors open warning on the main dash. My children have to hold onto the door handles to keep the doors somewhat closed until we get to our destination. While this happens I am forced to go lower than normal speed limits and drastically slow down in turns just to keep the doors from swinging open while completing the turns all while my kids hold onto the doors. This is extremely dangerous. But I'm forced to do this as my kids need to get to school and I need to get to work. I have read that Ford has chosen this is not a concern for recall. I feel this should be a recall as peoples lives are at danger of flying out and and the danger to the general public.
This first began when we went to Oregon from dry Central Valley in California and hit rain. Multiple error messages appeared: Service Advance Trac, Check 4x4, Hill Assist Not Available, ABS, Steering Assist Fault, etc. Power steering assist was lost and is now intermittent which creates a dangerous situation. The ABS brakes made load groaning noises. I went to O’Reilley’s and used their OBD2 scanner. It showed codes: U1012-00, U0212-00, U0121-00, P062C-00, all being communication errors. I got a new battery and had a shop scan it. The clockspring was bad so it was replaced with an OEM from Sunrise Ford. He can’t get any communication with any of the other modules. I researched the issues and disconnected the battery while I cleaned the ABS controller connection with electrical contact cleaner. I checked some of the grounding points that weren’t checked by the shop. All of the error messages are now gone except the STEERING ASSIST FAULT. My research showed that this may be related to a wheel speed sensor or the front hub that contains the sensor. It also might be the ABS controller. I entered Engineering Test Mode and have the following continuous DTCs: C40182, C12100, C41582, C42082, C15100, C21200, C42982, C10200. Since they all end in 00 or 82 I think they are likely related. I was told in an online forum that they are communication errors. I think that might apply to the 00 errors, but don’t know about the 82 errors. The truck has under 28,000 miles and the extended warranty expired in May 2024.
Similar to the 10-14 f150 recall for the 6r80 transmission lead frame failure. Driving down the freeway at speeds of 50-70 in 6th gear truck has down shifted into first causing loss of control. Transmission then disengages entirely and loses power mid driving. After turning truck off and waiting, starting the truck it returns to normal. failing speed sensor and lead frame are the cause in this transmission from Ford called the 6R80 in year models 10-19 however recalls were only ever issues for the 10-14 generation for repairs of less than 10 years of age or 150,000 miles. My truck is the generation after, a 2017 model with 146,000 miles. Truck is currently at Ford for repairs and diagnostics. In the most recent event with the truck shifting from 6th gear to 1st yesterday I was in heavy traffic and when I lost control of truck I had to "sweep" to the side of road / ditch to avoid collision with vehicles behind and beside me at speeds of 65-75. I believe the year models 15-19 should be included on the existing recall if equiped with the 6 speed automatic transmission being the fact they were built and manufactured with the same failing parts before the current recall was put in place a few months ago according to online sources. Fortunately I was safe in all 3 incidents but yesterdays close call has forced my hand in "parking" the truck until Ford can repair any malfunctioning parts. If a recall is placed after my trucks repair it would be nice to have compensation for this bill. Truck has had scheduled maintenance including transmission on or before owners manual recommendations at designated Ford dealers other than oil and brake changes which I do myself at home. Please consider the 6R80 transmission as a point of recall for all models not just earlier generations as most of these trucks may not have the mileage yet needed to have serious mechanical failure. In which some failures can have trucks towing loads than can cause serious crash events.
I had a problem that would cause my transmission to randomly downshift or slip into neutral while in drive. When this happened it would also disengage cruise controll and would disengage the blind spot monitoring system.Took it to the dealership and they confirmed it was a faulty molded lead frame. I had them replace the part. But was doing research and saw where they have had similar recalls on previous years.
2017 F150 - V8 - 6Sp/Automatic Transmission; Original Owner; 91.5k miles; lead frame issue.. Vehicle downshifted on it's own and check engine light came on.. additional issues with vehicle not starting and transmission not showing in gear.. Dealership finally diagnosed with lead frame issue.. Research shows recall on 2011>2016 F150's for identical issues and lead frame replacement but tells me that although recalls show a pattern, my 2017 is not covered! $1519 repair!!
My cam phasers are starting to go out vehicle has 97,000 miles. Also, the screen display for stereo goes black frequently.
Transmission down shifted into first gear. The tires locked up and the truck began sliding down the highway. I managed to steer the vehicle to the side of the road.I was driving about 60mph down a fairly busy highway. After the vehicle came to a stop it had to be towed to a dealership.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving in the rain, the horn and hazard lights independently activated. The door latch failed to operate as needed when the temperature was at 36 degrees. The contact had to turn on the heater for the doors to open. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the BPS needed to be replaced due to moisture. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 132,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while pulling out of a parking lot and making a right turn, the vehicle suddenly shut off in the middle of the road. The vehicle was able to restart but lost power steering functionality. The vehicle was towed to a nearby yard. The contact then resumed driving. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving on two other occasions, causing the vehicle to be towed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where the vehicle restarted independently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Upon investigating the failure, the contact noticed that the front tires were rubbing against the coil springs housing while turning, causing the vehicle to shut off. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where the contact was advised to purchase spacers that needed to be installed between the tires and the coil springs housing to prevent the failure from recurring. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

When driving pulling a trailer going up hill truck goes into limp mode will not shift down too pull the hill have too shut truck off then restart before it will move it happens in all modes tow haul and also in regular mode also tried putting in Manuel mode and still makes no difference sometimes it does it even without a trailer hooked up when I have trailer hooked there is a horse on it which makes it dangerous with cars behind you no lights come on on the dash when it happens
Sunroof malfunction/leaking sunroof. Originally occurred in 2020 with the track not operating correctly. Manufacturer was able to fix that. However, after that it started leaking whenever it rained. Not pouring in the vehicle but dripping out of the sunroof control panel. It’s done it ever since then. 2022 I had dealer check it again, this they didn’t take it serious I believe as, they told me they were ordering a part to fix and would call me. I never heard back, called dealer and response was they hadn’t gotten part in. Never heard anything back from them. So, still dealing with leaking/malfunctioning sunroof
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument cluster failed to indicate the transmission shift position. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The power train warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V053000 (Power Train, Electrical System), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 159,000.

While driving, the rear window opened up by itself and would not close. Controls were dead. Found a wire bundle (not a harness) which runs from the body control module to several sensors, including the 110V power converter, were worn through shorting out. The wiring lies in a channel along the rocker panel on the interior of the vehicle. The wiring is not protected from abrasion which led to the abrasion of the wires shorting out. Since 110V is running along this same channel, the potential for a fire is high, plus shorting 110V AC with 12V DC.
Well the last few days in colorado its been cold and every morning when i get in my truck the guage cluster does not come on. I have a few flashing lights but nothing else works. I am not sure what all is effected by this problem. After about 10 min. everything goes back to working as it should. but then the next day it happens agian. I have done some research and this is a problem that ford has had in the past that they had fixed on vehicals that were built up to the month before mine.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the Auto START/STOP inadvertently activated, causing several other electrical systems to malfunction. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled to the side of the road, turned off the vehicle, removed the ignition key, and then restarted the vehicle. The failure had recurred twice within 4 months. The last failure occurred while driving approximately 70 MPH, and the vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and waited to restart the vehicle. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and it was confirmed that there were no recalls on the VIN. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 154,000.

I had the recall done for unintended tailgate opening. However, twice now while pulling out of my driveway the tailgate has opened on its own. I have video from my ring camera showing the tailgate opening as I am proceeding out of my driveway into the street on both occasions.
My advanced track warning light comes on then all the lights on the dash and start going off one warning after the other. (Low oil, limited breaking, tire pressure, etc.) Then all electrical components in the vehicle turns off while driving. Its been serviced by the dealer which they replaced the break booster sensor. About 2-3 weeks later, it started happening again only this time when i drive the breaks lock up now and grind to the addition of everything lighting up the dash and all electrical components turn off while driving. Dealer charger me $900 for first repair now they’re charging me $2500 to start for the APIM replacement. They are not clear on issue. They stated well start with apim and go from there.
My truck's instrument cluster fails to turn on preventing me from seeing mph, fuel level, etc. Ford has a recall number(17C01) for this exact issue but my vehicle's VIN is not included

AIRBAG WARNING FAILURE A know issue with Ford F-150 and other products with the Blind Spot senor module in the rear tail lights. The vehicle has an issue with water or fluid leaking into the tail light housing causing many of the advanced features to stop working. The vehicle shows a Blind Spot Sensor Failure, Cross Traffic Sensor Failure, Front Windows will not operate, Air Conditioner stops working , Radio works but nothing can be changed and worst of all the "The Air Bag Failure Warning Light" comes on rendering the vehicle unsafe for roadway operations. The Internet (You Tube and other sites )document the failure and how to fix it. It is not confined to just My 2017 F-150 but plagues many other year and model ford products. My truck is currently at Bluebonnet Motors the Authorized and Sales Dealer for this Truck, they have confirmed the issue and are awaiting parts to repair it. They have quoted about $1,850 for parts and labor. [XXX] the service writer and myself witnessed these failures in the service reception area while checking the truck in for service. This problem puts many people at risk (including myself) if they are unaware of the entire system failures. Should a crash occur the occupants may not be provided with air bag deployment , which could result in possible injuries or death. I have not been made aware of Ford Motor Company or the dealership acknowledging this serious safety concern. Engine start stop does not work anymore when at a stop but is causing a rough idle and sometimes will stall in traffic at low speeds.
I was driving on the highway when my truck randomly began to sound as if it was in high idle like if I had it in neutral and was still pressing on the gas peddle. A wrench light came on as well as my engine light and I immediately lost power. Once I pulled over and placed it in park all the warning lights disappeared and my truck was fine again. Then it happened a second time but this time it almost caused the person from behind to hit me. I finally got to my destination and my truck was once again fine as if nothing happened. Few days later I was on the highway and it again happened. This time I had to utilize my insurance and have my truck towed back home. It has been an ongoing issue with my gears wanting to slip or feel like they don’t want to engage. Even with my truck constantly shifting hard. I contacted Ford and I am being told that ultimately Im still responsible for charges. I know this is an ongoing problem with the manufacture and I know I am not the only person with an f150 having this issue. I am writing this complaint because it can be a dangerous situation, especially around heavy traffic.
The vehicle was purchased back in March and was parked in my driveway for about a month between uses. When I drove it again, I had the "Charging System Service Now" alert pop up on the screen. This was not present when we left the dealership, and they were not willing to help me solve the problem. I checked it with a code reader at home, but it did not generate any codes. I put the battery on a charger, but it was fully charged in 5 minutes. I took the vehicle to an auto parts store to have them check the battery and alternator, and everything checked out. The serpentine belt is not warn and the fuse for the alternator was still intact. We tried discharging the PCM, but that did not solve the problem either. I am asking around at a few mechanic shops for possible solutions to try and avoid taking it to the dealer.
Truck’s powertrain control system detected an issue with the transmission shift solenoids not responding as expected - causing the transmission and drive functions to fail. The failure resulted in my transmission being shot - and the need for a full transmission rebuild. My safety was put at risk because the truck lost complete loss of driveability, and ability for shiting of gears. The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer's agent, Holman Ford of Maple Shade, NJ. I received a number of warning alerts from the Ford Pass system beginning on March 24, 2023. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the failure.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while the vehicle was at a complete stop at a traffic light, the vehicle shut off inadvertently. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle the following day, the transmission gear position indicator was not illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the transmission was not shifting smoothly while driving. The contact stated that the vehicle shut off for a second time while at a complete stop. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed at his expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V053000 (Power Train, Electrical System). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

Heated and Cooling seat buttons for the front seats and Heated Seats for the rear indicates power being fed and luminated. Fuse for the climate control on seats is operational, however NO Heat and NO Cooling. Checked the Heated and Cooling Module under passenger front seat and disconnected harness to find the Top wiring pig tail as you look at it burnt. Terminals on module burnt. Apparently on the Ford F-150 Forum numerous members have the same problem. I have found the module and pigtail available, however I don't want to change it to prevent voiding possible Safety Recall. Will notify the dealership on March 6, 2023 at (Dick Smith Ford), Columbia S.C.. gds...
Truck downshifts periodically from 3rd to 2nd gear or from 4 to 3 of 4th to 2nd, for no reason, while keeping speed same on flat road. This causes tire squealing action in some cases and is unsafe. Also, at the same time, rear motion sensor system failure light comes on with an OK button. I select the button and then a wrench sign lights up indicating service requires. Sometimes also a check engine light comes on. Sometimes also the display showing what gear truck is in goes blank, or flutters through all gears. Sometimes a fan/generator comes on as well for no apparent reason. Sometimes the truck is goes in to no gear at all (neutral?) while I am moving. I pull over, restart the engine and the problems usually go away. This problem was reported to 2 Ford dealers (Cella and Bergey) on about 7/2022 and 8/2022. They gave me very different assessments of the problem, the most expensive being a new lead frame ($1,300) Problems originally started around 3/2022. Truck has about 35,000 miles on it.
Doing cold weather, the driver side door locks has frozen on several occasions causing the latch to become inoperable to latch. As a result, I am unable to lock the door after closing it and the door swings open before moving the vehicle. I have not been able to schedule an appointment at this time. The vehicle was purchased used from Carmax in Brandywine, Md., on March 22, 2022. I was informed that the vehicle had passed a full inspection prior to the sale. There were no warning lights or recall notices issued regarding the vehicle.
I was sitting in the drive thru with my kids when my daughter said there was smoke from behind her. Shortly after that the back window shattered into many peices onto them inside the car. It’s ridiculous that there has been many complaints of the same issue yet no recall issued.
Mid December in the morning I hit the remote start and took my dog out to use bathroom and i heard a loud bang and when i came back to the truck the rear windshield had exploded… I have 3 cameras that look over the vehicle and after watching video there was nothing that touched or near the truck.. It just explodes and shattered after remote start. It had a strange smell and the rear window where the wires were at was burnt.
The first time I had a problem was after refueling the gear display went blank and as I started to drive it felt like the truck was not in 1st gear. I stopped turned off the truck and restarted and it was OK. I took it to my mechanic and he did a diagnostic which showed error codes p0706 p0707 p1702 and p1721. He couldn’t replicate the problem and thought is may have been a moisture problem since we had been getting heavy rains. The next time it happened it happened I was on I195 in Richmond driving at 55 mph and the gear indicator lights flickered and then went off and the truck downshifted and slowed suddenly. The indicator lights came back on quickly and everything was fine. I went back to the mechanic and he got the same error messages. It was not raining this day
APIM failure
Used remote starter; about 2 minutes later my family entered the vehicle with my 2 small kids secured in their child seats in back seat. We left our home, made about 1-mile down the road when back window suddenly popped and shattered. Nothing struck or hit the window to break it. Tiny glass fragments blew onto my children and scared them. The plastic cover on the defroster connection mechanism on the rear center electronic sliding glass window also popped off and the one of the electronic metal connections is clearly broken loose on the mechanism also. No warning messages on dash/display. I did not turn on defroster and rear defroster light was not on at the time, but maybe came on automatically with remote start used. I submitted claim promptly with insurance. Have appointment with Service King for estimate and repair to be made. According to online forums, this unfortunate safety incident with Ford truck and van rear windows has occurred hundreds or thousands of times to Ford owners over the past 10 years.
Vehicles rear passenger brake light does not work when hitting brakes but lights up when vehicle is on. The blinker does not work but the reverse light does. Vehicle has a short somewhere and has put me at risk of being rear ended by others and I have drivers on the road notifying me on the daily. My vehicle is covered under CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) and only has 46k miles and well taken care of. Ford has not inspected it due to an upfront cost that I am expected to pay. The vehicle did not warn me of any electrical failures. I was notified by a friend that it was not working.
About a month after purchasing the truck in April 2021 with About 35,000 on the truck when stopped at a traffic light the trucks auto stop/start kicked in and the vehicle would not restart and had to be pushed out of the road during rush hour. Since then the truck has been in the dealership atleast 5 times for this issue and has not been resolved. They keep giving the truck back saying they don't know

I purchased this vehicle new in 2017 and since then I have had an intermittent issue with the rear camera when put into reverse. Either frozen image, static lines and yellow screen. When the image it frozen, it looks like its working but nothing in the screen is moving. If something is behind me I would not see it and think its clear. Ford has replaced the camera 1 time but I dont think thats the issue because I disconnected all the wires in the tail gate (where the camera is) and it still messes up. I have seen online a lot of other people with the same truck and same issue. here is a video of my issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAx6haPQ8Ho
FORD F-150 MOON ROOF RAMP/GUIDE JAW (PART # FL3Z1651070B/FL3Z1651071B) STOPPED WORKING. THE MOON ROOF MALFUNCTIONS GETTING SUCK IN THE OPEN MODE, OR FAILING TO CLOSE PROPERLY IF AT ALL. MANY FORD OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE, TO THE POINT THAT THERE ARE VIDEOS ON THE INTERNET PERTAINING TO THIS MALFUNCTION. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO GET THIS REPAIR FIXED AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP THE EMPLOYEES ADVISED ME THAT THEY SEE THIS ISSUE OFTEN, AND THAT THE GLASS SHATTERS AND BREAKS FROM THIS MALFUNCTION. I WAS QUOTED $400.00 TO REMEDY THE ISSUE, AND WOULD HAVE TO LEAVE MY VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE DAY. THE ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR WAS FOUR HOURS.

I LIVE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE AND THE WEATHER IS COLD. I STARTED MY FORD F150 TRUCK TODAY USING MY FORD PASS. THE TRUCK RAN FOR 15 MINUTES. WHEN I PREPARED TO LEAVE IN THE TRUCK I NOTICED THAT IT WAS COLD INSIDE. WHEN I LOOKED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, I REALIZED THE REAR SLIDING WINDOW WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION I REALIZED THE WINDOW BLEW OUTWARD AND A YELLOW LINE X STICKER ON THE RIGHT REAR OF THE WINDOW HAD BURN MARKS ON IT. THE STICKER WAS DISCOLORED TO INDICATE THAT A LOT OF HEAT WAS DIRECTED TOWARD IT. THE WINDOW WAS COMPLETELY SHATTERED AROUND THE OUTSIDE EDGE. ALSO, I LOCATED A COVER THAT HAD BLOWN OFF THE WIRES THAT RUN TO THE REAR DEFROSTER. IT APPEARS THAT THE REAR DEFROSTER RAN TO THE POINT THAT IT OVERHEATED THE GLASS AND CAUSED IT TO BLOW. I DISCOVERED THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED IN THE PAST WITH FORD F150 TRUCKS AND NTSA HAS RECEIVED COMPLAINTS. I CONTACTED FORD TODAY AND I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE

TAILGATE OPENS GOING DOWN THE ROAD, TAILGATE OPENS ANYTIME I UNLOCK THE DOORS, AND TAILGATE OPENS WHEN REMOTE IS NEAR TAILGATE WITH NO BUTTONS PUSHED.
F150 WITH ELECTRONIC TAILGATE RELEASE WILL RANDOMLY UNLOCK AND DROP OPEN. THIS IS HAPPENING AT LEAST 50% OF THE TIMES I USE MY TRUCK. I'VE HEARD THE TAILGATE RELEASE BE ACTIVATED WITH MY FOB KEY SETTING ON THE DASH BOARD, NO ONE TOUCHING IT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TODAY, 1/10/2020, AND THE SERVICE REP HEARD IT UNLOCK THE TAILGATE WHILE HE WAS HOLDING THE KEY FOB. HE INDICATED THERE IS A RECALL; HOWEVER, IT IS NOT FOR F150'S.. ONLY F250-450'S. WHAT REALLY SCARES ME THERE IS NO WARNING OR NOTIFICATIONS THE TAILGATE HAS DROPPED DOWN AND IS NOW OPEN. I ONLY KNOW WHEN I STOP AND SEE IT DOWN OR THE LOUD STEADY WARNING WHEN I PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE. SO FAR NOTHING HAS FALLEN OUT BUT THIS IS CLEARLY UNSAFE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED/REPAIRED ASAP BY FORD. THIS HAS OCCURRED WHEN OPERATING ON BOTH CITY ROADS AND HIGHWAYS, ALTHOUGH, I'M NOT SURE EXACTLY WHEN IT IS UNLOCKED OR DROPS OPEN. THIS PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED IN EARLY DECEMBER; HOWEVER, IT WAS NOT NEARLY AS FREQUENT; NOW IT IS ALMOST EVERY TIME I USE MY TRUCK.

I NEVER EVEN GOT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. I REMOVED MY SON AND CALLED 911. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DISCOVERED THE REAR WINDOW DEFROST WIRE HAD SMOLDERED AND MELTED CAUSING HEAT AND THE COMBUSTION THAT AFFECTED THE WINDOWS IN THE COOL NIGHT TEMP. BACKUP CAMERA DOES NOT WORK - WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE, THE BACKUP CAMERA FAILS TO ACTIVATE. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY - SOMETIMES IT WILL HAPPEN THE FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN (AFTER BEING PARKED OVERNIGHT), SOMETIMES IT WILL HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING AROUND (I.E. DRIVE FOR A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME, THEN PARK, THEN DRIVE AGAIN - THE CAMERA WILL FAIL TO ACTIVATE UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE). I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE SINCE DECEMBER 2017, AND FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE ABOUT A MONTH AFTER PURCHASING. DEALER CLAIMS THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. COMMENTS POSTED ONLINE AT WWW.F150FORUM.COM SUGGEST THAT THIS MAY BE RELATED TO A FAILING APIM MODULE, AND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE.

IT DOESNT EVEN OPEN IT JUST BINDS UP AN STOPS ALL THE TIME AN NOW DOESNT OPEN AT ALL. BEING ASE CERTIFIED AND KNOWING ENOUGH ABOUT ELECTRICITY THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE AS IT IT IS BINDING UP IF YOU CONTINUE TRYING TO USE IT. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS IT COULD CAUSE A FIRE AS WELL IF YOU ARE DRIVING AND GO TO USE IT MAY MAKE AN AWKWARD NOISE AND DISTRACT YOU FROM DRIVING AT THE TIME YOU TRY TO GET IT TO WORK. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AT THE TIME OF USE. AN THEN I TRIED IT STATIONARY AFTERWARDS AN THEN HAD TO DISCONNECT IT. HAVE YET TO FIX IT OR HAVE IT LOOKED AT AS I WILL FIX IT MYSELF DUE TO THE COST.

DOOR LATCHES REPEATEDLY FREEZE DURING COLD WEATHER DESPITE HAVING BEEN IN FOR REPAIR SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THE TRUCK WAS NEW, INCLUDING A SERVICE CAMPAIGN DESIGNED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. THE DOOR LATCHES WILL EITHER FREEZE WHILE THE DOOR IS SHUT, PREVENTING THEM FROM OPENING, OR WILL FREEZE AFTER THE DOOR HAS BEEN OPENED, WHICH PREVENTS THEM FROM SECURELY LATCHING WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO CLOSE THEM. THIS PAST SATURDAY THE DOOR OPENED WHILE I WAS MOVING THE TRUCK IN THE DRIVEWAY, RESULTING IN ME FALLING PART-WAY OUT OF THE TRUCK WHILE IT WAS MOVING. WE ARE EXPERIENCING SEPARATE SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES WITH OUR F-150: 1. THE CAPLESS GAS TANK SYSTEM CAUSES THE GAS SHUTOFF WHEN REFILLING TO NOT STOP AT 'FULL'. THIS CAUSES GAS TO SPRAY IN AN ARC FOR 3-4 SECONDS - COVERING BOTH PEOPLE AND THE GROUND WITH APPROX 16-24 OZ OF GAS. 2. THE FRONT DOORS, WHEN SUBJECTED TO FREEZING TEMPERATURES WILL OPEN BUT WILL NOT RECLOSE UNTIL THE LATCH MECHANISM IS C OMPLTWTELY DEFROSTED - APPROX 15 MINUTES. THIS MEANS THAT DURING THAT TIME THE DOORS ARE UNABLE TO BE CLOSED AT ALL. ADDITIONALLY, THE REAR VIEW CAMERA/DRIVER INFORMATION SCREEN IS 'SHORTING OUT', CAUSING THE CAMERA TO BE 'STUCK ON' OR THE INABILITY TO TOGGLE TO NAVIGATION OR FEATURES BEYOND THE MAIN SCREEN UNTIL A MINIMUM SPEED (APPROX 15-20 MPH) IS REACHED.
NO BREAK LIGHTS, BACKUP LIGHTS, PARKING LIGHTS, TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS IN REAR.

FORD F-150 DOOR LATCH WILL NOT LOCKS OR CLOSE PROPERLY IN COLD WEATHER AND FREEZING TEMPERATURES. USING A BUNGEE TO KEEP DOOR SHUT. DEALERSHIP SAID THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS THE MOST CURRENT RECALL PARTS. I BELIEVE THAT THIS CAN AND WILL BE A SAFETY HAZARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!!
MY DRIVERS DOOR DOES NOT "LATCH" WHEN I CLOSE IT. IT APPEARS THIS OCCURS WHEN BELOW FREEZING. I SEE FORUMS ABOUT BEING WET/FREEZING. MINE HAPPENS IN NORMAL COLD/NON WET CONDITIONS AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER FOR SERVICE, THEY TOLD ME THEY DON'T HAVE PARTS COME BACK NEXT WEEK, I DID. THEY SAID THERE'S NO FIX AND THEY MIGHT WANT A WATER TEST. AT THIS POINT I HAVE NO INTENTION OF BEING INCONVENIENCED BY THEIR BLUNDERING AND GUESSING. I TOLD THEM TO CALL ME WHEN THEY HAVE A FIX. I SELL MERCEDES-BENZ PRODUCTS SO I EMPATHIZE WITH RECALLS HOWEVER I AM BEYOND FRUSTRATED THAT I DRIVE TO WORK HOLDING MY DOOR SHUT. I HAVE READ MANY FRUSTRATING SITUATIONS CONCERNING THIS ON THE FORUMS. IT SEEMS THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2015. IT IS DISTURBING THAT FORD CAN'T COME UP WITH A DEPENDABLE SOLUTION IN ALMOST 3 YEARS. MY VEHICLE IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST BUT I AM HAVING THE PROBLEM. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.
I AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISAUE AS FORD RECALL 17C01, NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 17V053000 WHERE IN COLD CLIMATES THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DOESN'T WORK UPON STARTING THE TRUCK.
