2017 F150 Super Crew 4x4 brought into dealership for brake master cylinder recall. ( no lights on dash) Dealership changed both the master cylinder and brake booster at no charge. The same day the vehicle was picked up, I returned it to the dealership. The vehicle was having issues with keeping straight on the highway and when I slowed down when coming to a full stop, the steering wheel turned completely to 1 side on its own. These symptoms were not present when vehicle was initially dropped off. Dealership is now telling me that the ABS module is bad and that I need to pay for that repair. The local Ford dealership submitted documentation (Special Service Support Center Assistance Request) to Ford to cover related damage, but request was denied. I called Ford corporate to re-open case and appeal decision. Ford corporate would not re-open. I requested a field service engineer to review my situation, Ford said No. I asked for good will assistance, Ford said no. I asked if Ford could do anything to assist, Ford said no. It has now been over 45 days without my vehicle. The steering wheel rotating on its own after braking is a critical safety concern. The local dealership has changed the recall to complete and left me with a vehicle that is not safe to use. They claim the ABS module is bad and I have to pay out of pocket, but they have yet to provide any documentation or reports including any OBD2 codes that indicates this is not as a result of the recall work performed. In summary, I left my vehicle at dealership for recall on master cylinder and after repairs the vehicle is having issues with related components that were not present before dropping off. All I ask is that Ford can assist by covering the needed parts and labor to get my vehicle back on the road performing safely.

Since the brake recall was performed when driving the brake light will come on in the instrument cluster. When the light comes on the brake pedal gets stiff. Like it's stuck and takes a little effort to break free. This is not present when the light is off. Before the recall was performed I never had an issue with the brakes or the light coming on. Also. The door ajar light in the instrument cluster comes on when all the doors are completely closed. Will turn off after pulling over and turning the truck off, and back on. Sometime it comes on for a whole day no matter how many times I restart it, then be fine the next time I use the truck.

The powertrain/transmission is not receiving the signal from the engine to accelerate. It can be inspected. The vehicle is slow to accelerate or will not accelerate at all, causing lurching motions and slow movement of the vehicle. This can cause my vehicle to rapidly accelerate or me to slowly decelerate, causing me to possibly run into others or be hit by others. No one has reproduced or assessed the problem. The problem occurred multiple times before a warning message was displayed. The signal appeared after two weeks of the failure occuring.

In June 2025 and again in December 2025, when my truck stopped at a Red Traffic Light and I applied my brakes to stop the vehicle, my two rear wheels/tires started to spin rapidly non-stop for 60 seconds or the duration of the traffic light, causing a great deal of smoke and noise. My truck acted like a "Drag Racing" machine on a short track revving its engine and spinning its tires for a very short burst of speed down the track. Cars behind me kept their distance and I thought my truck would bolt forward at any time causing a serious accident. I applied my brakes as firmly as possible, praying my truck would not lose control and bolt forward into the lane of traffic. In June, my mechanic thoroughly inspected my vehicle for four hours, going on a test drive, pulled off all the wheels and checked every pertinent component, ran 3 diagnostic code assessments and found nothing. When it happened again on December 11, 2025, I contacted another mechanic who told me he could not address the issue since it was a known Ford Issue and to contact NHTSA and Ford (PE25-002). Finally, there were no warning lights on my dashboard when it happened during these two incidents.

While driving , brake pedal went to the floor causing vehicle to barely stop. upon stopping and exiting vehicle noticed brake fluid on the ground and right side brake hose had ruptured. Vehicle had to be towed for repairs. Ford Service department says entire brake line and hose must be replaced due to "fitting is swollen".

This vehicle is subject to NHTSA Recall #25V236 (Ford Recall #25S37) for a defective brake master cylinder that can leak into the brake booster, reducing braking effectiveness and creating a serious crash risk. The recall was issued on April 11, 2025. As of today, Ford has not provided any remedy. My local dealership confirmed that no fix is available, and Ford Corporate has refused to provide a loaner, rental allowance, or written timeline. This leaves me with an unsafe vehicle that I cannot rely on. This recall has been open for months without resolution, and Ford’s refusal to provide assistance places me and the public at risk. I request that NHTSA investigate Ford’s failure to provide a remedy in a timely manner, require Ford to provide comparable loaner/rental vehicles until the repair is available, and hold them accountable for this unreasonable delay.

Front brake flexible hose assembly failure without warning leading to loss of brake function. Luckily this was noticed during start up while parked. Brake fluid discharged with each brake pedal depression. Work was repaired by Ford dealership.

This first began when we went to Oregon from dry Central Valley in California and hit rain. Multiple error messages appeared: Service Advance Trac, Check 4x4, Hill Assist Not Available, ABS, Steering Assist Fault, etc. Power steering assist was lost and is now intermittent which creates a dangerous situation. The ABS brakes made load groaning noises. I went to O’Reilley’s and used their OBD2 scanner. It showed codes: U1012-00, U0212-00, U0121-00, P062C-00, all being communication errors. I got a new battery and had a shop scan it. The clockspring was bad so it was replaced with an OEM from Sunrise Ford. He can’t get any communication with any of the other modules. I researched the issues and disconnected the battery while I cleaned the ABS controller connection with electrical contact cleaner. I checked some of the grounding points that weren’t checked by the shop. All of the error messages are now gone except the STEERING ASSIST FAULT. My research showed that this may be related to a wheel speed sensor or the front hub that contains the sensor. It also might be the ABS controller. I entered Engineering Test Mode and have the following continuous DTCs: C40182, C12100, C41582, C42082, C15100, C21200, C42982, C10200. Since they all end in 00 or 82 I think they are likely related. I was told in an online forum that they are communication errors. I think that might apply to the 00 errors, but don’t know about the 82 errors. The truck has under 28,000 miles and the extended warranty expired in May 2024.

The truck was parked overnight and operating normal. I started it up the next day and the brake pedal went straight to the floor. It's leaking brake fluid all over from the front passenger brake hose. The dealership says it is not under recall or fixable by warranty. This could have been extremely dangerous on a highway or while towing. This vehicle has just over 61k miles.

Went to hit the brakes and they went all the way to the floor and come to find out the brake line was completely shredded. I have it at Les Schwab tire center in Lincoln city right now getting fixed. It’s going to cost me $950 for all of this. And now my kids and I are stranded.

While parking my truck in my shed the passenger side flexible brake hose ruptured and all the brake fluid gushed out. I almost immediately lost my front brakes. I pull a 9,000 lb camper and was fortunate I was not pulling it when this occurred or this could have put my family and anyone in other vehicles on the road at risk of severe injury or death. I had the truck towed to a local Ford dealership. The technician there confirmed that the front passenger side brake line flexible hose ruptured and that the driver's side needed to be replaced as well. There was no warning lights prior to the event. But soon after the brake hose ruptured a warning that the brake fluid level was low came on.

I HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES ON MY F150 2017... ACTUALLY I WAS AMAZED HOW LONG I WENT WITH OUT BRAKES BEFORE GETTING THEM FIXED. MY PROBLEMS BEGAN WHEN I DECIDED TO GET NEW BRAKES. I ASKED FOR THE BRAKES THAT WERE ON THE CAR ORIGANALLY WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THEM. WELL I DON'T THINK THE NEW BRAKES ON THE CAR LASTED NO MORE THAT 3 - 6 WEEKS UNTIL I HAD TO BRING THE TRUCK BACK TO HAVE THEM FIX THE BUMPTYBUMP EXPERIENCE THAT I HAVE WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES WHEN COMING DOWN THE HILL. SO EVERYTIME I'M COMING DOWN THE HILL I GET NERVOUS BECAUSE I FEEL THE BRAKES WILL GIVE OUT COMPLETELY ONE DAY.

Driver front brake hose ruptured and pedal went to the floor (thankfully while parked). Upon inspection, found the passenger front brake hose to be swollen in the same place directly below the crimp where the fitting is attached. There were no warning signs or symptoms prior to this failure and I hate to think what could have happened if this failure occurred somewhere like an interstate off ramp or some emergency braking situation. The parts can be made available for inspection before Dec 31 2024.

I was stopped at a red light when all of a sudden with no warning my brake peddle went to the floor and my truck started rolling backwards. I was terrified, but luckily there was no one behind me else I would have hit them. I have a scheduled appointment with a ford dealer to check the brakes on Monday May 6th 2024. I looked up the issue and apparently some F150s have been recalled for a brake fluid leak from the brake boosters master cylinder- recall # 20S31 (22V150000). But my truck doesn't have any recalls?

Brake Booster failed to operate. When driving and needing to stop the brake peddle was stiff and would not compress failing to safely stop the vehicle. I had to stand on the brakes as hard as I could to come to a stop. Shortly afterwards the dashboard alerted me to Check Brake System. Upon reading DTCs it showed P0555 (Brake Booster Pressure Sensor Circuit) and P0556 (Brake Booster Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance). Vehicle no longer is safe to operate. I had this issue back in 2019 on several occasions but it was intermittent and self resolved itself after pumping the brakes. I took it to a Ford dealership. They kept the truck for 2 months saying they couldn’t duplicate the issue and that there were no recalls for my VIN and gave the truck back to me saying it was safe to drive. I have not had the issue again until now. Pumping the brakes and restarting the engine doesn’t make it go away like it did before.

My advanced track warning light comes on then all the lights on the dash and start going off one warning after the other. (Low oil, limited breaking, tire pressure, etc.) Then all electrical components in the vehicle turns off while driving. Its been serviced by the dealer which they replaced the break booster sensor. About 2-3 weeks later, it started happening again only this time when i drive the breaks lock up now and grind to the addition of everything lighting up the dash and all electrical components turn off while driving. Dealer charger me $900 for first repair now they’re charging me $2500 to start for the APIM replacement. They are not clear on issue. They stated well start with apim and go from there.

My truck went to Bolton Ford in Lake Charles, Louisiana for a Brake Master Cylinder Recall on September 07, 2023. Upon receiving my truck back that afternoon, the repair was stated to have been successfully completed. After driving about twenty miles, a loud alert came on in the truck, and an alert came on the dash stating, "Check Brake System", also the Brake light by the tachometer. I immediately pulled over and called the dealership service department. I checked under the hood, and only found that the fluid reservoir cap was slightly loose. They advised watching the truck and getting it back as soon as I could. Turning the key off, cleared the warning. The warning happened two more times that day on my way home. I returned the truck back to the dealer for service two more times again after this time for the same problem. They have worked on my vehicle a total of three times for the same problem and still not fixed. It went in for a preventative recall, and now is constantly malfunctioning. I picked it up yesterday (10/12/2023) after the third repair attempt. I drove on the interstate 35 miles. Returning, the same "Check Brake" warning alerted, and the brakes were almost impossible to apply when I pressed them. Finally, the brakes applied. This has become a very dangerous situation. Please advise where to go from here.

When I went to stop as I pulled up behind another car at a gas pump, my brake pedal went completely to the floor and I had no brakes. I then left the gas station to go to my place of employment down a hill and my ability to brake was very minimal. I lost my front brakes in my F150 and later found out that only the back brakes were stopping me. I had to have my truck towed and found out that my front brake hose burst and the second one was bubbled and ready to burst as well. I have saved the brakes hoses if the NHTSA would like them for examination.

2017 F150 with approximately 71k miles. The front passenger-side flexible brake line split and sprayed out all brake fluid from the system. This happened while parked and in the process of shifting into gear with the brake pedal pushed down. The pedal went to the floor without resistance due to loss of brake fluid pressure. The truck was towed to a Ford dealer for inspection with the expectation this would be covered under the extended warranty. The dealer service center reviewed the issue and recommended replacement of the hose due to it "spewing fluid near crimp connection". The dealer is not covering this under warranty even though the same issue is a recall item on Ford Edge and Fusion models. It is extremely fortunate this happened while parked and not while driving. This could have easily resulted in significant damage, injury, or death with a complete loss of brakes while driving.

Brake booster. Have a 2016 f150 that has an open recall, but our 2017 f150 5.0 is the one with the brake booster failure. Wife and kids in the truck and brake fluid sensor went off and within 20 minutes she could hardly brake.

My front right brake line busted on my 2017 F150 STX. This 5 year old truck has under 70 thousand miles on it and it matches up with the Master Brake Caliber Recall 22S11 or 22S14. I think my vehicle should be included in the recall. Brake lines don't just bust and I could have seriously injured someone or myself because of this faulty part.

Brakes slowly stop holding while at a stop for too long; such as at a red light or waiting for a train, and takes more force from driver to stop vehicle. After inspecting the braking system I found brake fluid leaking between the brake booster and master cylinder. With a little investigating I found Ford already recalled the same part number for other F150 trucks but mine was not in that group from the same model year. The current recall needs to be expanded to cover every truck with that part number. Due to this failure i was involved in a low speed TC in a parking lot when my brakes stopped holding.

GOOD DAY TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, ON FEBRUARY 13,2021 I HAD A MAJOR BRAKE FAILURE WHILE PARKING MY TRUCK WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AS I WAS BACKING UP. THE REASON THIS IS A CONCERN IS THAT I REGULARLY HAVE MY VEHICLE SERVICED AT ONLY FORD DEALERSHIPS. THE TWO MOST RECENT TIMES I HAD SERVICE WAS ON JANUARY 21,2021 THE WORKS OIL AND FILTER CHANGE WHICH INCUDES INSPECTING INSPECTING THE BRAKE SYSTEM; AND OCTOBER 27,2020 THE WORKS OIL AND FILTER CHANGE WHICH INCLUDES INSPECTING THE BRAKE SYSTEM AT WHICH TIME I HAD REAR BRAKE WORK DONE BY FUTURE FORD LINCOLN OF CONCORD 2258 DIAMOND BLVD. CONCORD CA.94520. THE TECHNICIAN SAID IT WAS TO MUCH PRESSURE APPLIED TO MY BRAKES WHILE BACKING UP AND PARKING. I HAVE NOT EVER EXPERIENCED THIS THROUGH OVER 40 YEARS OF DRIVING AND IT IS A VERY CONCERNING ISSUE THAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IT CAN BE INVESTIGATED INTO PLEASE. THANK YOU

DOING APPROXIMATELY 45MPH, IN FREEZING TEMPS AND LIGHT SNOW, APPROACHED A YELLOW LIGHT. HAD PLENTY OF DISTANCE TO STOP AND BEGAN TO APPLY BRAKES. TRUCK BEGAN TO SLOW, BUT SUDDENLY FELT LIKE THE BRAKES LET GO OR MAYBE HIT A PATCH OF ICE. LET OFF AND DEPRESSED THE PEDAL AGAIN. THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I BEGAN PUMPING THEM WHICH WAS SLOWING THE VEHICLE, BUT I ENDED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION, NARROWLY AVOIDING A SIDE IMPACT WITH A SEMI AND LOOKING LIKE A MORON. MY ENTIRE FAMILY WAS IN THE TRUCK AND THIS WAS VERY CLOSE TO A DISASTER. AFTERWARDS THE BRAKES WERE SOFT AND CONTINUED TO DO THE SAME. WHEN THE PEDAL WAS HELD DOWN IT WOULD SLOWLY GO TO THE FLOOR, FEELING LIKE ALL HYDRAULIC PRESSURE WAS BLEEDING OFF. THE INITIAL OCCURRENCE HAPPENED ON A CITY ROAD IN MOTION. OF COURSE THE TRUCK WARRANTY ENDED ABOUT 500 MILES PRIOR. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN BABIED, ONLY USED FOR WEEKENDS. BEING TOLD BY DEALER THAT A SEAL FAILED IN THE MASTER CYLINDER AND POSSIBLY A HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. ESTIMATE TO REPAIR IS OVER $2500 TO REPAIR A VERY NEW VEHICLE THAT COSTS OVER $50,000.

I WAS BACKING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR - NO BRAKES. I DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO TRY PUMPING THE BRAKES OR STEPPING ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE VEHICLE IMPACTED THE GARAGE DOOR DAMAGING IT TO THE POINT THAT IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE REPLACEMENT COST IS $1,833.33. THE VEHICLE IMPACT POINTS WERE THE PLASTIC PARTS OF THE TAILGATE, BUMPER AND TRAILER HITCH. THERE WAS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKES WORKED FINE AGAIN AFTER THE INCIDENT. I HAD SKYLINE FORD CHECK THE BRAKES AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY TROUBLE CODES OR PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES DURING A TEST DRIVE. I NOW DON'T TRUST THE BRAKES AND AM CONCERNED THAT IT COULD HAPPEN AGAIN WITH MORE SEVERE CONSEQUENCES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT AT 35 MPH, SHE ATTEMPTED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL HOWEVER, THE BRAKES FAILED TO OPERATE AS NEEDED, WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED THROUGH THE RED LIGHT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVEN TO THE RESIDENCE AND THEN TOWED TO PEORIA FORD (9130 W BELL RD, PEORIA, AZ 85382) WHERE THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED DUE TO A LEAK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V332000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,613.

WHILE COMING TO A STOP IN TRAFFIC MY 2017 FORD F-150 XL 5.0L STARTED BRAKING NORMALLY WITH SOLID PEDAL FEEL. HOWEVER, AS I CONTINUED BRAKING AND APPLYING MORE PRESSURE TO STOP THE PEDAL SUDDENLY BECAME VERY SOFT AND WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO RELEASE THE PEDAL AND REAPPLY THE BRAKES. AGAIN, THE BRAKE PEDAL STARTED OUT NORMAL AND THEN WENT SOFT AGAIN AS MORE PRESSURE WAS APPLIED AND I HAD TO VEER TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID REAR ENDING A STOPPED VEHICLE. LUCKILY NO COLLISION OCCURRED. THE BRAKES CONTINUED ACTING THIS WAY UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO CAREFULLY DRIVE IT TO A FORD SERVICE CENTER. THIS OCCURRED ON BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING WHEN COMING TO A STOP OR TRYING TO SLOW DOWN SUDDENLY DUE TO TRAFFIC. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN FOR REPAIR AT A FORD SERVICE CENTER.

NO MENTION OF MASTER CYLINDER OR BRAKE VACUUM PUMP INVOLVEMENT? (ECOBOOST 3.5 ENGINE CONFIGURATION) BOOSTER ON BACK ORDER, MAY BE WEEKS TO MONTHS! I WAS ON A HIGHWAY IN RAIN ON CRUISE CONTROL APPROACHING AN OFF RAMP. MY SPEED WAS 72 MPH AS SET BY CRUISE CONTROL. I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO DISENGAGE AND SLOW FOR THE OFF-RAMP WHICH IS SHARP. AS I APPROACHED I STARTED TO APPLY MORE BRAKE PRESSURE. THE VEHICLE BEGAN ACCELERATING AS I WAS GOING INTO THE TURN. I STOMPED ON THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR REPEATEDLY WHILE STILL ACCELERATING. I NAVIGATED THE TURN AT HIGH SPEED WITH THE BACK END BREAKING LOOSE AND FISH TAILING. I BARELY MADE IT AROUND AND PROCEEDED TO HIT THE OFF BUTTON FRANTICALLY. THE TRUCK SHUT DOWN AND I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD MY 7YR OLD GIRL IN THE TRUCK. IT WAS TERRIFYING. I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY SITTING STATIONARY IN MY VEHICLE BUCKLING UP TO DEPART FOR THE STORE. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO PUSH THE START BUTTON. AFTER STARTING I MOVED THE SHIFT LEVER TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN GEAR AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL AND MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. BECAUSE MY DRIVEWAY HAS A SLIGHT RAMP TO IT THE VEHICLE KEPT ROLLING FORWARD, I KEPT HITTING THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL KEPT GOING TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. AS A RESULT I ROLLED INTO A BLOCK FENCE ACROSS FROM MY DRIVEWAY KNOCKING IT DOWN AND DAMAGING MY VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS JUST ROLLING UNDER ITS OWN MOMENTUM, NO POWER TO THE DRIVE TRAIN. NO INJURIES, BUT FENCE WAS DOWN AND VEHICLE HOOD AND OTHER FRONT END AREAS WERE DAMAGED. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT CAUSED THE BRAKES TO FAIL. FILED AN INSURANCE CLAIM AND HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER FOR BODY REPAIRS AND NEIGHBORS FENCE REPAIRED.

I GO TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD ME MY VEHICLE FOR ALL MAINTENANCE. (COWLES PARKWAY FORD, WOODBRIDGE VIRGINIA). ON 10/22,2018, I HAD MY TRUCK SERVICED AND IT WAS NOTED THAT MY BRAKES WERE IN A "YELLOW CONDITION." ON 12/11/18 MY VEHICLE RECEIVED A MANDATORY VIRGINIA STATE INSPECTION (WITH NO MENTION OF THE BRAKE CONDITION). ON 1/22/2019, I TOOK MY TRUCK FOR A SERVICE TO INCLUDE TIRE ROTATION AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIRES COULD NOT BE ROTATED AND THE BRAKES COULD NOT BE INSPECTED BECAUSE THE "LUGNUTS WERE SWOLLEN." I ADMIT THAT THIS SOUNDED LUDICROUS--(I AM A RETIRED AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE OFFICER WITH 27 YEARS SERVICE IN THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE). WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT THIS CONDITION FROM THE SENIOR TECHNICIAN, HE INFORMED ME THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS THESE LUG NUTS THAT SWELL DUE TO WATER INTRUSION AND FREEZING. I ASKED HOW I WOULD BE ABLE TO CHANGE A FLAT TIRE ON THE HIGHWAY AND WAS INFORMED THAT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THIS TASK BECAUSE THE LUG NUT WRENCH WOULD NOT FIT OVER THE NUT. THUS MY TIRE ROTATION WAS NOT COMPLETED AND MY BRAKES WERE NOT INSPECTED TODAY AND (MY BELIEF IT DID NOT OCCUR DURING THE MANDATORY VIRGINIA STATE INSPECTION EITHER. HOWEVER, MY COMPLAINT FOCUS IS THAT THE LUG NUTS ON MY 2017 FORD F-150 CAN NOT BE REMOVED. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION AND WARRANTS A RECALL AND REPLACEMENT OF ALL F-150 TRUCK WHEEL LUG NUTS AND REQUEST YOUR ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER. . LAST SUNDAY I GOT A 2017 F150 XLT STUCK IN A SMALL TWO FOOT SNOW DRIFT. ONCE I GOT STUCK I TRIED ROCKING THE TRUCK, BUT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT FROM FORWARD TO REAR WARD WITHOUT THE TRUCK COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS I GOT A FAULT WARNING FOR THE LIMITED SLIP DIFF. THE WARNING FOR THE POWER STEERING, THE ABS, THE PARKING BRAKE, THE HILL DESCENT, HILL START ASSIST, PARK ASSIST WARNING (WHICH I DO NOT HAVE), ADVANCED TRACK WARNING (WHICH I DO NOT HAVE) AND 4X4 LOW. ADDITIONALLY THE TRUCK WOULD SHIFT IN AND OUT OF 4 HIGH, BUT NOT 4 LOW. IN 4 HIGH NO TIRES WOULD MOVE. IN TWO HIGH ONLY THE LEFT REAR TIRE WOULD SPIN. BECAUSE OF DARKNESS AND GRIZZLY BEAR I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL MORNING TO WALK OUT FAR ENOUGH TO GET CELL RECEPTION. THE TEMP NEVER GOT BELOW 34 DEGREES, BUT IT DID RAIN AND SNOW ALL NIGHT. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK PULLED ME OUT OF THE DRIFT (A TOTAL OF 10 FEET) EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE POWER STEERING WORKED. IT WAS NOT UNTIL THE 3 RD DAY WHEN THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STARTED TO WORK. THE DEALER WILL NOT SEE ME UNTIL NEXT WEEK AND I AM AFRAID I WILL LOOSE ALL THE FAULT CODES BY THEN. ITS GREAT TO HAVE A 4X4 THAT ONLY WORKS ON DRY GROUND. I WAS SHOCKED AT THE NUMBER OF F150'S ON THE WEB WITH BRAKE PEDALS SUDDENLY GOING TO THE FLOOR DURING ALL TYPES OF STOPPING SITUATIONS. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO SPAN 2016-17 MODELS REGARDLESS OF ENGINE. IT STARTED YESTERDAY WITH A FREEWAY OFF-RAMP FAILURE AND PUT ME IN THE MIDDLE OF A RELATIVELY SAFE INTERSECTION TODAY... NO BRAKES. I'VE SEEN MASTER CYLINDERS REPLACED TO DEALERS STATING THAT IS THE NORMAL OPERATION. THAT LAST PART IS PRETTY LAME... BRAKE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR? THE BRAKE INITIALLY SEEMS TO WORK AND THEN THE PEDAL SINKS SLOWLY TO THE FLOOR WITH NO BRAKING FORCE AT THAT POINT. AT A FULL STOP IN PARK, I CAN REPEAT THE FAILURE. TOUCH THE BRAKE AND IT APPEARS TO BE OK. QUICKLY TOUCH IT AGAIN AND IT IMMEDIATELY SINKS TO THE FLOOR. APPARENTLY KNOWLEDGEABLE DEALER INDICATED THAT THERE MAY BE AN ABS SOLENOID STICKING CYCLING BRAKE FLUID BACK TO THE RESERVOIR INSTEAD OF BEING APPLIED TO BRAKE PRESSURE. THIS SOUNDED MUCH MORE LOGICAL THAN REPLACING THE MASTER CYLINDER UNLESS THE ABS IS INTEGRATED INTO IT IN SOME MANNER.

FORTUNATELY, IT HAPPENS WHEN I WAS ON A PARKING LOT TRYING TO GET BACK TO THE MAIN ROAD FROM A SHORT BREAK. I DID NOT TAKE IT VERY SERIOUS AS THERE IS ONLY ABOUT 4500 MILES ON THE TRUCK, AND THE BRAKE DID FUNCTION OKAY WHEN YOU NEED TO SLOW DOWN ON HIGHWAY (I MEAN SLOW DOWN, NOT TO MAKE A STOP), BUT NOT UNTIL I ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD IN DENVER. AFTER THAT, I HAD TO BE VERY VERY VERY VERY CAREFUL WHENEVER I NEED TO PERFORM A BRAKE SINCE I REALIZE IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT FOR THE VEHICLE TO MAKE A COMPLETE STOP EVEN DRIVING IN NEIGHBORHOOD AT ABOUT 25 MPH. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO ALL THE WAY DOWN EVEN WHEN YOUR TRANSMISSION IS AT PARK. SO I CANCELLED EVERYTHING I PLANNED IN COLORADO AND STAYED HOTEL FOR 2 DAYS UNTIL CORPUS WAS CLEARED FROM HURRICANE HAZARD. I DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK VERY VERY VERY VERY CAREFULLY AND SENT IT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY WHEN I GOT HOME, WHICH WAS THURSDAY AUGUST 31, 2017. THE TECH IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS MASTER CYLINDER FAILURE AND GOT THE MASTER CYLINDER ORDERED AND REPLACE ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2017. I UNDERSTAND THE DEALER IS VERY BUSY BECAUSE OF THE HURRICANE, AND I DO APPRECIATE THE THEY MANAGE TO GIVE ME A LOANER VEHICLE TAURUS TO DRIVE. HOWEVER, THE MASTER CYLINDER DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM ACCORDING TO THE TECH AND THEY HAVE TO ORDER AND REPLACE THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT, WHICH WOULD TAKE ANOTHER 10 BUSINESS DAYS. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND SAW OTHER PEOPLE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS. I HOPE FORD, IF NOT, NHTSA COULD TAKE THIS ISSUE SERIOUS BEFORE SOMEONE GOT INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM.

ON 08/07/2017 WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 55 MILES PER HOUR ON HIGHWAY 281 IN SAN ANTONIO, TX MY 2017 FORD F-150, V8 SUPER CREW, 4X4 FTX EXPERIENCED COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. MY BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO BRAKE ACTIVATION AND I HAD TO SWERVE TO THE LEFT TWO LANES TO AVOID IMPACTING THE VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME. ONCE ON THE SHOULDER I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO STOP AFTER TRAVELLING SEVERAL HUNDRED YARDS. THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING (NOISE, SERVICE LIGHTS, ETC.) PRIOR TO, DURING OR AFTER THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY FOUR MONTHS OLD WITH 6400 MILES ON IT. IF THERE WAS NO SHOULDER OR CLEAR LANES IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED A SEVERE ACCIDENT LIKELY RESULTING IN INJURIES. I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY MAKE MY WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SIDE ROADS BUT EXPERIENCED TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE THREE ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE FIRST TIME WAS WHILE I WAS STATIONARY AT A STOP SIGN FACING SLIGHTLY DOWNHILL MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND I HAD TO PUMP IT SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE THE VEHICLE STOP AGAIN. THE OTHER TWO TIMES I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES PER HOUR AND MISSED MY TURN (RIGHT) AND PROCEEDED PAST THE TURN APPROXIMATELY 50 YARDS AND HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES IN ORDER TO STOP. THE DEALERSHIP HAD TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER. THEY INDICATED IT WAS LEAKING INTERNALLY AND GAVE NO EXPLANATION WHY A SERVICE LIGHT OR OTHER WARNING DID NOT COME ON AND THERE IS NO CURRENT RECALL FOR THAT PART.

THE BRAKES WENT COMPLETELY OUT. THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER, UPON GETTING IT BACK THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP ADEQUATELY, AND IT WAS RETURNED AT THAT MOMENT. THEY "BLED THE BRAKES" AGAIN AND RETURNED IT. THERE WAS ONLY 1 WORK ORDER FOR THIS. THE TRUCK SAT FOR A WEEK AND NOT THE BRAKES ARE SOFT AND INCONSISTENT. I RETURNED IT TO FORD AND THEY STATED IT WAS WORKING AS EXPECTED; HOWEVER IN A PANIC STOP THE BRAKES FAILED TO DO MORE THAN 50% STOP EFFORT AND ON ANOTHER OCCASION I PRESSED THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, AND HAD HARDLY ANY BRAKE. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. SINCE THEY DID NOT TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE THERE IS NO RECORD OF THIS THIRD ATTEMPT TO GET THE BRAKES FIXED. I THEN CALLED THE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AND THEIR ANSWER IS JUST TO TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE. THIS VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS AND IT FALLS OUTSIDE THE RECALL NOTICE FOR A REPLACEMENT MASTER CYLINDER. HOWEVER THAT IS THE INITIAL FAILURE. I SUSPECT ADDITIONAL ISSUES; BUT FORD IS FAILING TO ADDRESS THEM.

THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP COMPLETELY SOMETIMES. OTHER TIMES, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THE VEHICLE WILL CEASE MOVEMENT. NO MATTER HOW GREAT OR HOW LITTLE PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR.

ENGINE STALLS AT STOP (AFTER LETTING UP ON BRAKE AND AUTO START STOP RE-STARTS THE ENGINE) FOLLOWED BY "HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE" ERROR FLASHES ALONG WITH OTHER BRAKE RELATED ERRORS; VEHICLE ENGINE WON'T TURN OVER/START UNLESS TRANSMISSION IS PUT BACK INTO PARK. UPON RESTARTING ALL ENGINE ERROR/FAULT MESSAGES ARE CLEARED AND THINGS SEEM BACK TO NORMAL. TODAY WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE FIRST TIME WAS ABOUT 7 DAYS AGO. THIS IS DANGEROUS SHOULD IT HAPPEN ENTERING AN INTERSECTION. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO LIVERMORE FORD AND THEY SAID THAT SINCE IT IS INTERMITTENT WITHOUT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON THEY CANNOT DIAGNOSE IT.
