Backup camera shows blue screen. Appears to be faulty wiring harness or connection. Impacted driver safety when backing up. Previously replaced camera due to suspected camera failure. Fix lasted less than a year before blue screen returned. No other warnings or indications.
This vehicle has the 10R80 10 speed transmission, the same transmission that is in the Mustang that is under recall now. That was reset at a Ford dealership in 2023 I believe. It was not acting up at that time, they "fixed" it then while it was in. Now a few years later this problem is VERY PERSISTANT now, constantly missing, skipping, and losing power trying to accelerate trying to get on to busy roads and highways, it loses power and skips through all the gears from 1st to 10th back down to 4, then 6 then 2 then back to 9 and 10. I have almost been hit numerous times from this action. It is also causing the dash lights to turn off and come back on. Also effecting my 4 wheel drive, it will not engage. This should be a SAFTEY RECALL and Ford needs to take of it.
I was not in an accident. I have a 2018 ford f150 xlt and it has a 3.5 eco boost. My truck is leaking some type of oil from the top and has very bad fuel injectors which is why my truck cant accelerate and shakes extremely bad. When I sit at a red light my truck dies and I think i have a leaking exhaust. I bought a new battery but it still dies. I know they used to do a recall for a new engine from what i’ve searched but they don’t do it anymore and I don't think its safe for me driving while I have all those problems. I have not been in an accident but with all these problems my truck could possibly die or go out while i’m on the highway and just makes me nervous driving something like that when the 3.5 eco boost is already not a great engine. Thank you
Taillight leaks water causing the blindspot sensor to burn up. Once the sensor is burned up the airbags, power door locks, power windows, heat/defrost, and the radio don't work. This is a known problem and Ford has no fix for it. It is several weeks wait to get it into Ford and costs several thousand dollars for a known problem that they are not addressing. Having no heat or defrosters in the winter make this a safety issue for everyone on the road not just the operator. Door locks and windows not working is a safety issue for the vehicle passengers.
The vehicle experienced repeated failures involving multiple systems, including the transmission system (transmission replacement), powertrain/engine system (cylinder-related repairs), electronic control systems (vehicle computer/control module replaced multiple times), electrical system (ongoing electrical faults), and rear safety systems (backup camera failure). The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. These failures created ongoing safety concerns due to loss of vehicle reliability and malfunction of safety-related electrical systems, raising concern about unexpected mechanical or electrical failure during operation. The issues were confirmed and documented by Ford-authorized dealerships and independent service centers. Despite repeated repairs, the same or related problems continued to occur. The vehicle was inspected and repaired by Ford dealerships; however, one servicing dealership (Ford of Ventura) later closed, leaving unresolved issues without continuity of service. Warning lights and system alerts occurred prior to failures along with ongoing electrical malfunctions. Exact dates of first warning indicators are UNKNOWN, but symptoms recurred over time despite repairs. The vehicle was purchased with approximately 38,500 miles. Due to COVID-19-related delays, dealership availability and parts shortages caused months-long wait times for service, and when the vehicle was finally inspected by a dealership, it had approximately 60,000 miles. Major system failures occurred well under 100,000 miles. Ford later declined assistance, citing out-of-state purchase and maintenance not performed exclusively at Ford dealerships, despite regular routine maintenance. The cause of the failures is UNKNOWN, but the pattern suggests systemic mechanical and electrical defects rather than owner misuse. All invoiced available as system will not upload them at this time.
Water intrusion into the Body Control Module (BCM) caused multiple safety-related electrical failures. The horn no longer functions, traction control activates and deactivates while driving, exterior lights remain on after vehicle shutdown, and the battery must be disconnected to turn off headlights. The issue presents a safety concern while operating the vehicle. Ford Motor Company was notified and documented the concern but declined assistance due to no active recall or program.
The day running lights don’t work at all and researching online there are hundreds if not thousands of people with similar issues. F150’s 2015-2020 having the same problem. This is not caused by misuse or neglect but factory defective components. These headlight are almost $1400
-Auto stop/start system failed and is available for inspection. I was driving down the road and braked for a vehicle about to pull in front of me, when I let off the brake and pushed the gas I noticed the vehicle had shut off there was an error message on the information center, Error message: "Auto startstop shift to P, then restart engine" -I could've been in an accident due to immobilized vehicle -Vehicle taken to dealer. Was told the failure was unlikely to be duplicated. Was told to unplug(deactivate) auto stop/start system to hopefully avoid recurrence. -No -No messages or symptoms prior to failure.
Was listening to my radio in my 2018 f150 1min and the next the music stopped my phone stopped charging touch screen went black tried the soft reset nothing checked fuses nothing . Found out it’s my apim Ive also seen where a lot of people are saying they have had the same issue with this and it’s not a cheap fix one guy said he works at ford and done 15 in one day . Ford is suppose to be the best why isn’t there a recall on these . 98k miles and I have to spend $500-$1000 to be able to use my touch screen this is not right for anyone and this should be on ford . Believe I might be switching over to dodge now.
Back up camera stopped working on 2018 F150 XLT 2.7 v6. Screen only shows blank screen or blue screen with the words, cameral not available.
My back up camera just shows blue or static. It just randomly happened but everything else works and the screen shows fine when not in reverse.
Auto start stop. This has happened on several occasions where I will be traveling at highway speeds and my 2018 F-150 10 speed 10R80 Transmisson with a 5.0-liter motor has died while traveling. I have talked to Ford Engineering reps, and they say they have never heard of this. I have done research into the subject and there have been hundreds of reports of the same issue. I have an appointment scheduled for Ford to look into the issue.
Loss of power to dashboard and all accessories while driving. The engine and transmission continued to operate until the vehicle could be parked in a safe location, and the vehicle could not be started again. The issue was reproduced by a dealership and repaired by changing a faulty APIM module. No other inspections have been performed. After the repairs, the security alarm randomly engages and sounds the horn.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission shifted to neutral(N) unintendedly, and the vehicle lost motive power. The power train warning light was illuminated. No further information was available. Additionally, the contact stated that electronic system and lights failed to turn off. The contact confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall and that the warranty had expired. The contact stated that there were complaints and lawsuits related to the failure. The contact stated that the body control module (BCM) was previously repaired. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 84,019.
Mileage: 84,019
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while depressing the accelerator pedal, the gear shifter shifted independently, and the message "Vehicle Heisted Gear Ten Error" was displayed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by the dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA to file a vehicle safety complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 52,742.
Mileage: 52,742
When backing up, my camera will either not work or be extremely slow. Then once it works the backup image or blank screen will show up when not in reverse. My screen will be blank, be extremely slow, or freeze when I turn the vehicle on or when driving. Unable to get CarPlay to work at all. When pushing buttons the lag time is so bad that it will take minutes for it to catch up. Unable to update the software.
I had a rear view camera problem where the screen went blue on my f150. No picture or beeps. I paid over $800 for software and hardware repairs and now there is a recall. Conveniently my vin is not included even though I have the same repairs I had to pay for. Reciepts from Ford Dealership available.
SYNC seems to return to factory setting at every start and I need to answer the same series of initial questions to access it. It dumps all of my saved preferences when I turn the truck off. It freezes, particularly when I try a manual soft reboot. Back up camera comes on while I'm driving. I don't have access to audio, navigation, or hands free support.
The radio goes black giving no indication to why and no way to adjust the heated steering wheel or the climate controls.
The button on the steering wheel get hot then fail to work this has happened several times i have complained to ford. The cruise control quits working and all the buttons for the dash menu quit working. I will be driving down the road with the cruise control on and all of a sudden it will quit working. Then it will just come back on like you never shut it off and when you least expect it. when this happens you can not shut the thing off its gonna cause an accident.
My back up camera barely works now. Most of the times that I back up the screen is blue or black. Very rarely it will work. I brought it into my local for dealer and they said moisture somehow got into the sealed connector and started corroding the metal in there making it a bad connection. They told me I needed a new wire harness for over $500 and I don’t have the money to fix it. So now my back up camera is just broke.
The engine system on this vehicle experienced multiple failures, including severe knocking, power loss, and potential oil-related malfunctions. Despite repeated service visits to the authorized Ford dealership, the problem persisted. The dealership performed multiple repairs, but the issue was never fully resolved. The vehicle has been undrivable for over a year, during which I have had to rely on rental cars, borrowed vehicles, and eventually purchased cash vehicles to commute — all while continuing to pay for the truck. This is a severe financial and safety burden for a vehicle sold as reliable. To this day, no clear resolution has been offered, and Ford’s internal support has repeatedly deflected responsibility or referred me to scripted call center processes. The vehicle remains parked, unable to be driven due to fear of catastrophic failure or causing harm to myself or others on the road. The engine should be fully inspected, and the failure reported as part of a broader pattern I believe exists across other vehicles with this powertrain. There were early warning lights, knocking, and oil issues documented during dealer visits. The dealer acknowledged repeated service cases but failed to offer a true fix or replacement. This is more than mechanical failure — it’s a consumer safety and engineering accountability issue. I urge NHTSA to investigate the root cause and assess whether a broader recall or investigation is warranted.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the radio and the rearview camera was inoperative. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The diagnostic result was unavailable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while attempting to research the vehicle online, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 93,600; it was discovered that the mileage was 200,000.

I had repeated issues with sudden downshifts while driving starting around 80,000 miles. By 83,000 miles it was doing it weekly or more frequently. It would shift down to first gear no matter what gear it was in. I would have trouble getting it to shift back even if I stopped and turned it off or tried the manual’s “fix” of pressing the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time for at least 30 seconds. I paid $2300 to fix a transmission barely past 80,000 miles. Besides the safety issue, the impact on daily life in general is a mess. Ford should have to recall all recent years and fix or repay the customers like me who had to pay Ford to fix their defects.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after stopping the vehicle, the vehicle would not immediately restart. Also, while at a stoplight with the Auto START/STOP feature activated, the vehicle did not immediately restart after depressing the brake pedal, and the vehicle had to be jump-started. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who indicated that there was no issue with the battery and was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 102,602.

While driving in manual mode on the road vehicle seemingly came out of gear and then slammed into a lower gear causing me to be slammed forward in my seat and nearly wrecked my vehicle, it then unprotected went to 1st then to 9the gear all while still in manual shift mode. Vehicle also dose not always fully engage park when P is illuminated.
The same problem that is highlighted with the 1.3 million Ford F-150 truck investigation for the 2015 - 2017 models has happened to me. In 2024 my Ford F-150 would switch from 10th to 3rd gear without warning. This has lead to the transmission completely failing. I had to personally replace the transmission myself. I had just went over the warranty mileage. The incident was reported to Ford but nothing was done about it. At the machenic repair shop there were 2 other Ford F-150 that had the same problem.
When I tow my boat the starter overheats and when I stop to get gas I have trouble starting the engine or it won't start at all until the engine cools completely.
Radio went out not long after I bought it. Nothing on that end works. No back up camera, nothing. Bad apim module. 1400 to replace. It’s such a common issue and should be a recall.
Powertrain control module software is faulty, causing improper diagnosis of catalytic converters efficiency. Prompting a check engine light and P0430/P0420 code. I could not pass emissions testing with this code. The Ford dealer made me pay out of pocket to replace catalytic converters ~6 months ago, total cost of $2975.12. The have now addressed that it is unlikely the catalytic converters were faulty, and are offering no reimbursement.
THE PASSENGER BACK DOOR LATCH, SOMETIMES WHEN THE DOOR CLOSES IT SAYS REAR RIGHT DOOR AJAR. IT TAKES A FEW TIMES TO OPEN AND CLOSE IT FOR THE LIGHT TO GO OFF.. NOONE'S SAFETY HAS BEEN PUT AT RISK YET DOOR STILL LOCKS BUT COULD BECOME UNSAFE OVER TIME. THE VEHICLES HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY MANUFACTURER OR INSURANCE OR OTHERS YET. THE DOOR LIGHT COMES ON IF DOOR IS NOT CLOSED PROPERLY AND WILL STAY ON SOMETIMES.
Accessory protocol image module (APIM) failed, resulting in frequent loss of power to radio, display, and climate controls.
The Starter on my 2018 Ford F150 XTR (XLT trim to be sold new in Canada) with the 5.0L Coyote V8 engine failed @ only 46,000 miles. I have done my own auto repair for years, and have replaced a few failed or failing starters, none of which were @ less than 100,000 miles. After a little research, I found out that Ford "created" their Coyote engine with the Auto Stop/Start feature as a fuel economy measure to satisfy USEPA. However, this resulted in a several orders of magnitude increase in the number of starts within any given time frame (say, over the course of a year) and, since Ford did not re-design the starter to account for this radical increase in the sheer number of starts, starters are failing early. Mine failed @ 46,000 miles, and I've read multiple online posts from owners of this engine that had to replace the starter, one as early as 27,000. Check out owner comments @: [XXX] I should NOT have been required to pay for Ford Motor Company's design FAILURE. I was driving, I looked down because my truck was unresponsive, my truck had died, a warning light had come on stating the following: "Auto Start/Stop Shift to P, then Restart Engine". I was on the interstate, in a two lane construction zone, I had to pull over into the construction area, stop my truck, and try and restart. After a minute or two, I was able to restart my truck and re-enter the road way. A very dangerous situation, luckily I did not have my children in the vehicle at the time. I scheduled a service appointment after this and was told it was the fuel pump control module. Unfortunately, it has happened twice since my service appointment... something needs to me done!

The contact owns 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while cold starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the starter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but offered no assistance with the repair. The failure mileage was 87,895.

The vehicle was stopped, preparing to make a left-hand turn at a four-way intersection, in Drive with my foot on the brake. I had manually pressed the button to disable the "Auto Start-Stop" feature earlier in this trip, and the light was on indicating that feature was still disabled. While stopped, the vehicle's engine suddenly shut off. On the dashboard, the informational cluster indicated "Auto StartStop Shift to P, then Restart Engine" with the logo for that feature (An "A" in a looped arrow icon) showing below. I shifted to Neutral and restarted the vehicle with no issue - at which time the warning messages went away - and continued the drive without further incident. I have not been able to reproduce the issue, yet. I was in the vehicle with my 1-year-old son in his car seat, preparing to make a left turn across oncoming traffic when the vehicle shut itself off, placing us at considerable potential risk. The vehicle has not been inspected by police, a dealer, etc. as of yet but I will be bringing it to a Ford dealership as soon as I can. I have included an example photo of the same error I saw, taken from an internet forum. This is not my truck, but is the identical warning message to the one I saw.
10 Speen Auto Transmission is shifting very hard from 1-2 or just skips 2 and goes 1-3. It shifted so hard this morning it chirped the tires. Other times it jolts me forward. When trying to accelerate it will not and almost feels like its going to stall. Almost got rear-ended one morning with my son in the truck. It is scheduled to go to dealership in 2 weeks (next opening). No warnings lights yet. Started about a week ago. Only getting worst each morning.
The alarm system and hazards will randomly go on and will not turn off until you start vehicle and hit the hazard light button. If you hit the hazard button while the vehicle is off, it does not turn the hazards off. They will often remain flashing even if the horn/alarm system isn't blaring. At times hitting the hazard button has made the horn go off. The truck has started locking itself and keypad will not work to unlock only the key fob. Truck has not been driven at night since this has occurred to notice if its affecting the headlights. We have noticed that it is also affecting the cabin climate controls (air conditioning/heat). The source of the problem appears to be a malfunction with the Body Control Module (BCM). Prior to these issues arising, there were no warning or messages that appeared on the dash. The truck has been driving great. Now the check engine light is on and have to disconnect the battery so that it doesn't go off in the middle of the night again.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the driving modes shifted between Tow and Sport Mode. The contact also stated that the instrument panel was showing the incorrect gear. The contact stated that the failure ceased when the vehicle was turned off. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic however, no failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

When the auto stop/start feature is engaged at a stop and I am the first vehicle at the light or stop sign, the steering is unresponsive when making a turn into or through the intersection after the auto start re-engages and has posed a safety issue steering/turning because of the delay that occurs in powering the power steering pump. On repeated instances, I have entered an intersection making a turn expecting the steering to be powered, only to find I have to struggle with the steering manually until the pump engages. The first time I asked the dealer to check the issue, I was told that my battery was dead and I had to buy a new one. I was told that would take care of the problem. The problem returned, however, and I took the truck back to the dealer. During the second dealer visit, I was told that the power steering pump is electric and has to run off the battery for a period of time (they confirmed the battery was fine during this second visit) after the auto stop/start re-engages and that is what causes the delay in power steering after the auto stop/start turns the engine back on. I was told that it gets worse if the battery doesn't have a full charge, but there was nothing that could be done to resolve the issue. On multiple occasions, I have feared that I would end up in a wreck with oncoming traffic after I struggled to steer until the pump engaged. Why would the manufacturer design a system that creates such a safety issue? The date below is the approximate date and mileage for the second dealer visit.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the drive train inoperative warning light illuminated. In addition, the transmission independently downshifted from 10th gear to 7th gear. The contact stated that the engine abruptly seized, and the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with alternator failure due to engine oil leaking onto the alternator. The contact was informed that the alternator needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The contact stated that the transmission shifted independently and unusually hard while shifting. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

I was driving on a congested thoroughfare during rush hour on a Friday night. My truck became unresponsive and the steering wheel locked up. The truck made a screeching stop. With over 100 cars behind me honking. I was unable to drive car off the road shoulder in a safe location. The cars electrical system when dead. With very limited battery life on my phone, I worked to to solve this problem. Luckily I had a few tools in the truck and was able to dismantle the all of the underdash plastic and metal components in about 1 hr with cachophany of honking and yelling with ever car. No stopped to help. I had to push the vehicle approx a quarter of a mile on a moderate incline and jump in the cab without power steering and coast down a side street. I had to learn how to put the car in neutral this way to move. This is Friday night and unable to get a towing service provider to my location, I had to wait in a lesser than desirable neighborhood until 2:30 am to get the car to my place residence. This was one of the scariest and deadliest incidents I have ever had in a motor vehicle. I am deathly afraid this will reoccur on a highway with fatal consequences.
Since purchasing the vehicle the infotainment system has and always been substandard. Which is very frustration when your purchasing a new truck. There seem to be many glitches to the system and never reacted the same way twice when I had to reprogram it every time I got into the vehicle. It became an unreliable way to communicate and very unsafe. I felt very insecure using the system knowing that I would have to readjust or touch the infotainment to make it work had to pull over on the side of the road a lot. I believe that this product is completely faulty and could have been a fatal flaw for Many f150 drivers.
While driving my truck along the highway on April 29, 2024, it spontaneously burst into flames. I pulled it over, and it was completely engulfed in flames and melted into a puddle of molten aluminum. In the last 18 month, this truck has spent over 45 days at the dealership with 10 separate repairs including transmission replacement, cylinder heads, oil leaks, all under 75,000 miles. The smoke and smell began under the back seat passenger floorboards, and within 45 seconds, was burning. I have pictures, video, witnesses, and police reports for corroboration. There was no accident, no impact, no nothing. It simply lit itself on fire.
I was riding down the road the truck started to run hot then it slammed on brakes the power steering went out the panel the instrument panel was black I couldn't roll my windows down the truck was in drive but it wouldn't go and the motor was still running though and then it came all came back up and then it did this all the way home it would slam on break it didn't matter if I was going 30 or 60 and then it shut off before it got home and then the only way to get it going again was to jump it off

The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the START/STOP feature intermittently failed to operate as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while pulling out of a parking lot and entering traffic, another vehicle attempted to run a red light. The contact stated that the vehicle was unable to accelerate due to the failure with the START/STOP feature, and the other vehicle crashed into the contact's vehicle. The air bags deployed upon impact. No injuries were reported. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the residence after the crash. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The truck currently has 75xxx miles on it. I've had it in at the dealership before for transmission issues. The repairs/fix they did lasted for a while before the same problems came back. It started as rough shifting/jerking. Recently the truck will, when accelerating, jump out of gear completely while indicating on the dash that it is in gear, and the engine will rev up on its own (up to 3500 rpm) for several seconds before violently jerking into gear. I worry that the engine may try to rev up while actually in gear and cause rapid acceleration and possibly an accident if it's unable to be stopped in time.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle on two occasions, the electrical systems in the vehicle failed to illuminate. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that on another occasion while driving 30 MPH, the interior and exterior lights and electrical systems became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to identify the cause of the failure. After the third failure, the contact took the vehicle home and had an electrician inspect the vehicle. The electrician diagnosed that the ground wires had begun rusting due to being made of a nonferrous material. The electrician disconnected, sanded down, and used di-electric grease to prevent the rust from reoccurring; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

The vehicle as of 12/9/2023 at 3:00pm CST is at a mileage of 79,503. We are consistently experiencing the slipping of gears when the truck is switched from park to drive. The first couple gears seem to slip as it accelerates. The speedometer will be showing at under 10mph, and the truck will jerk forward. The engine/transmission gets loud as if the car is still in a lower gear as it’s accelerating. While it’s jerking and making the loud noise, the speedometer will not go over 10mph. We are concerned that it is a problem with the powertrain control module. It seems to happen when the shift lever is moved from Park to Drive, possibly it causes a loss of gear indication on the instrument cluster display and a momentary selection of an unintended gear, such as Reverse or Neutral before the vehicle achieves the Drive function. We have a column shifter.
We have had several problems with this vehicle since we bought it in 2020. It uses way too much oil for it to be new. We were told it was a common issue, but if the oil level ever gets down to a certain point, the truck acts weird. We have to put 3-5 quarts of oil in the truck in between oil changes (3,000 miles). We have put the truck in the shop several times for different issues, specifically engine knocking that we were told was "just how the motor is, all of the 5.0L engines do this," and oil issues. We also just had purchased it, and the timing belt broke while driving. We understand that used vehicles often come with problems that cannot be diagnosed before purchasing, but the vehicle only had 30k miles on it. My husband was driving down the highway today and the truck flashed "auto start/stop disengaged" and the truck died. DOWN THE HIGHWAY. Luckily, he was able to pull over and restart his truck. The 5.0L motor and the 2018 F150s are trash. As you are - or should be - aware, there are SEVERAL lawsuits against Ford that coincide with the issues that we have had out of this truck, yet no recalls have been made. Can't they see that it is a lemon? PLEASE take our complaint (and those of many others) and have this vehicle recalled before someone is killed due to a faulty vehicle. I should not have to constantly worry about my husband driving this vehicle. It makes me sick to my stomach knowing that it is a ticking time-bomb.
Vehicle randomly stalled out as I was slowing down and an error appeared stating that there was a problem with the auto on/off feature and that I would need to put the vehicle in park and restart it manually. Fortunately I was turning onto a side road but if this was to happen as I was trying to make a quick turn through traffic it would have been a much larger issue.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the interior lights illuminated, and the rear driver's door message was displayed. The battery was drained due to the failure. The contact located a similar article on YouTube regarding the rear driver's door and that the wiring harness was frayed. The contact spoke to her neighbor, who experienced the same failure. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was referred to NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 38,391.

We tried to turn the vehicle OFF and it would not switch off. Literally we turned the key off but the motor kept running. We took it to a local mechanic who said the vehicle's wiring system has been melted and it would need to go to a dealer. Ford confirmed that the wiring harness melted and the vehicle's but the cause is unclear. Pictures show that the wiring got very hot, hot enough to melt plastic and discolor it. Ford says, that's what happens sometimes with 7 year vehicles. However, where plastic is discolored means there was open flame or sparking. Had the truck caught fire, the passengers may not have been able to exit if the doors were locked and the electric locks didn't work. We have not had it repaired and are considering an insurance claim. There were no warning lamps. No one has inspected the vehicle other than the original local mechanic and the Ford Dealer in Auburn, CA.
APMI failure, compromises the ability to connect handheld device to vehicle for safety while on the road and ability to keep hands an eyes where the product designs them to be by disabling many safety features with voice, and navigation.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at a slow speed, the vehicle shut off with the "Auto START/STOP - Shift to Park - Restart Engine" message was displayed. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle resumed normal operation. The contact also stated that while driving at a high speed, the vehicle shuddered while depressing of the accelerator pedal. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer on several occasions; however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.

APIM is bad. It causes safety issues as the SYNC 3 system is either slow to change or doesn't change at all. Among other issues, I've driven forward in Drive with the SYNC screen still showing the view of the reverse camera. IT interferes with any safety systems that require the APIM to react in a timely manner.
I was recently driving the vehicle with no issues and all systems running normally. Suddenly, every light in the cabin and every dashboard indicator light started flashing with a chime through the speaker system which normally occurs when the keys are in the ignition. The vehicle was parked and the engine was turned off immediately to avoid any further issues or damage. After turning off the ignition and removing the keys, the vehicle continued to try and power on with the accompanying chime through the speaker system. After exiting the vehicle, it was observed the headlights and taillights were also flashing very rapidly. An attempt was made to restart the vehicle. After inserting the keys, every light in the cabin and every dashboard indicator light started flashing with a chime through the speaker system again, the engine would not turn over or attempt to start. An attempt was made to jump start the vehicle with no change in results, the engine would not attempt to start and all lights remained flashing. The battery was changed with a brand new fully charged battery from the local Ford dealer. Upon installation, every light in the cabin and every dashboard indicator light started flashing with a chime through the speaker system again and the engine would not attempt to start, there was no change in the symptoms. The vehicle was then towed to the local dealer since it was completely disabled. Through further internet research, the battery monitoring system can be reset after a battery change by flashing the bright lights 5 times and stepping on the brake pedal 3 times. This procedure was attempted and the system did reset. The vehicle is now operating and functioning normally. This was a complete system failure without warning, the vehicle was disabled. There were zero prior indications on the dashboard of any faults. I was fortunate the vehicle could be moved to a safe location. Had this incident occurred on an interstate my safety would have been at risk.
Radio, rearview camera, compass, usb ports, eight inch display failure. APIM has gone bad, a very common Ford defect over several years covering several models, that is costing/has cost thousands of consumers over a thousand dollars each to repair. The APIMs are obviously defective, a recall should be issued, and Ford should be required to replace the APIM at no cost to the consumer.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the Navigation System screen turned off temporarily. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring increasingly and the Navigation System screen would turn off for an extended period and would fail to turn on upon turning off and restarting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The dealer referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that it was a known failure; however, there was no fix for the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

The sync3 screen is flashing intermittently. It blacks out for 1 second and comes back on for one second. It continuously does this, and is very distracting while driving down the road. Especially at night. Also I cannot see the rearview camera while backing up the vehicle. I have done research on the problem, and there are numerous other problems just like I'm experiencing.
In late 2020 Ford issued recall 20C03 to correct a problem with the Daylight running lights. This entailed the reprogramming of the body control module. In so doing they made an error in the new program and inadvertently activated the parking lamps at all times when using the Daylight running lights. This is in violation of the FMVSS No. 108 (Vehicle Lighting Standards) and California Vehicle Code Section 24800 (Driving with Parking Lights). I filed a complaint with Ford Motor Co. and they have repeatedly refused to correct the issue. Now to avoid the possibility of receiving a traffic violation it is necessary to not use a safety feature and drive without Daylight running lights.
Exiting a major freeway. Truck lost all power and dash lights illuminated. With a message. Place and park and restart engine. Resulting in me narrowly avoiding a major accident, due to lack of power and braking. After running off the side of the highway and stopping. Vehicle could be restarted with no check engine or faults. However, this is extremely dangerous. After getting home and researching to see if this is a problem to other Ford F150 owners. Others have reported similar problems. Will not be driving vehicle because its unsafe.
Unknown Mykey has me hostage. When I purchased my vehicle they only had 1 key. Not realizing that setting up the MyKey for my vehicle, I would be putting myself and others that drive on the road with me grave danger. I purchased my truck in March of 2019 and I the fall of 2021 I didn’t think nothing of it by setting up the Mykey for my Ford F-150. Well without further a due I realized that the restrictions that the Mykey puts on there owners. Driving on the freeway or anywhere one may have to pass another vehicle quickly . Hang onto your hat because the speedometer stops at 80 and you just might find yourself between an on coming vehicle and the vehicle you were trying to get around before he thought about not allot you to… In the last 15 months there’s been to many near misses because of the MyKey restrictions on my speedometer… Ford says they can’t turn the Mykey off without another key….They ant my to pay $400.00 for a spare key… They need an Administration Mykey Key & standard Mykey key to delete the mykey functions. Now to me, that doesn’t make since what so ever to be able to set up the Mykey function with only 1 Key when you need 2 to Defunction them.
While driving at generally any speed from 8mph up to 70mph the electronic steering wheel will pull in either direction, I have brought this truck into a certified Ford dealership and they said everything they checked out was okay with said truck. This is not okay as it almost pulled me into the ditch while turning a corner. Other then that incident this erratic steering situation arises anytime I am driving, it does not appear to be intermittent.
radio and camera do not work full screen does not turn on
Vehicle had electrical issues - Diagnosis by dealership was water damage to the Body Control Module. This module is inside the cabin on the front passenger area by their feet/legs. The issues included - flashers goin off, horn going off, truck bed gate dropping open - while parked and while driving down highway, and entire vehicle just shutting down while ALL of the issues happened at once. People have been put at risk by the gate dropping and the immediate shut down of an operating vehicle. The dealer was able to reproduce the problem. I had it happen twice. I have since identified that it is something that is a known issue on F150 forums. So much so that the likely cause of the water damage has been identified, and forwarded to the manufacturer. They are not fixing the issue. Manufacturer's dealership technician identified the water damage as the root cause. Required a replacement Body Control Module. Possible warning signs: Noted by myself and others. Emergency flashers randomly going off. Power drain on batteries. Horn going off randomly. Root cause: Unsealed seam between body panels under the hood in the engine bay. Leaking water falls on firewall and then onto the Body Control Module electrical component. Shorting will eventually ensure. This can happen any time. F150 forum thread documenting the likely culprit leaking seam: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/water-leak-cowl-seam-474781/
There is a noticeable lag in the infotainment system whenever an input from the steering wheel is changed or the screen is touched. The navigation screen shows "no gps" and the maps stop working frequently. There are times the touch screen is black and completely unresponsive. The bluetooth connection with my phone connects and disconnects constantly also. The usb ports directly beneath the radio frequently don't work either. Safety is effected because of increased time looking away from the road trying to answer calls or get directions through the navigation system. The problem has not been inspected because I haven't been to the dealer since this first started happening. There were no warning lamps. The only indicators were that the bluetooth connection for my phone was dropped and the "no gps" was displayed on the maps. This first appeared about 3 months ago.
From the summer of the first year of purchasing the new vehicle on April 4, 2018, due to the very foul smell of urine when the air conditioner was operated, diagnosis and repairs were requested to more than 4 dealers in New York City, but only the opinion was presented that there was nothing wrong except for cleaning methods, and every summer I constantly asked other dealers for diagnosis and repair, but it didn't work. However, I have continuously commissioned the dealer every year to solve this problem, and the dealer of the current ford lincoln of queen said that if the warranty repair is not possible, the owner must pay the cost to do the work, and the warranty repair that I have part, but they are due to the borrower's faulty use No warranty repairs due to Since there has been a problem since the first year of purchasing the vehicle, I have continued to request repairs until now, but they have ignored them and dealt with things in a disrespectful and formal way, causing mental and physical pain up to this point. My warranty repair insurance is until April 2025 Since there was a problem with it from the time I bought the new vehicle, I continuously requested repairs every year to the present. In other words, they are demanding repair costs with the excuse of consumer responsibility and negligence now that they have secondary functions.
The vehicles electronic systems all seem to be going haywire. Towing alerts are given when not actual or sometimes not even towing. Backup camera is on/off when backing up then touch screen does not function for several minutes after backup camera was on. Towing and backup camera malfunctions affect driver safety and vehicle accident prevention. The problem has not been looked at and/or repaired by dealer as I'm investigating what the issue 'may be' (first indication is APIM module???) No OEM or Police inspections performed Started winter/spring 2022 and have gotten worse. First signs were Trailer Warning alerts then progressed with GPS and backup camera outages. Now none of vehicles electronics seem to be function at or even NEAR 100 percent effective.
While driving 5mph 5 minutes after starting the truck, the truck caught on fire and burst into flames after stalling out.
Backup camera failed/does not show anything on dash screen. Cannot see behind me when backing up. The dealer service center confirmed the failure and ordered a new wiring harness at my cost of $450.00. The dealer said the wiring harness for the camera needs to be replaced. The camera worked sporadically and then failed. There is now a message on my dash screen saying the camera does not work.
My truck has an automatic start-stop feature. About twice a month, when I am at a stop and the auto stop shuts down the engine, the whole truck will shut down. I will then have to put the transmission into park, turn the key to off and then restart the truck. A warning light comes up on my front display which says Auto StartStop Shift to P, then Restart Engine. The A with the arrow around it is in orange. This has caused me many issues in traffic and I have been close to getting rear ended on multiple occasions because of it. I have had it to the dealer, Haldeman Ford of Kutztown, on 5 different occasions over the past 6 months and it is still not resolved. The dealership has replaced the battery, did a system reboot and replaced the starter. I have shown them pictures and videos of it happening. They put a computer scanner on my truck that I had to use to record when it happened which I did. They were also able to experience it themselves during one service appointment. My first service appointment was 3.14.2022
I put the truck in park and left it idle with the air conditioning on for a passenger got out to go do something for a few minutes and the truck just started have flames come out of it from the middle of the truck until the truck completely burned the fire started with the truck running and idling and the the truck was parked on gravel
After starting the vehicle, at any time in under a minute the vehicle's engine will randomly shut off and display a message on the instrument cluster "Auto StartStop, Shift to P then Restart Engine". A photo of this message is included in this report. This issue can occur while in Park, Reverse, Neutral, or Drive. I have had it randomly occur to me upwards of 40 occasions over the past 3 years. A few times I have actually been driving at a slow speed (below 10 mph) when the engine stopped. So far for me, it seems to only happen when the engine RPM's are below 1500 or so. It feels like the engine shakes and then shuts off, then the dash chimes and displays the message mentioned above. I follow the instructions; I turn the ignition off, shift to Park, and restart the engine. Sometimes it starts back up fine and I am able to drive away. Other times the engine shuts off almost instantly and I have to try many, many times (10 to 20) to finally get the engine to stay on so I can drive it. If the engine were to stop while I was making a turn in a busy intersection or on a busy roadway, it would no doubt cause an accident and could be serious or even fatal since I would be unable to move. I have had this looked at by my local Ford Dealer Service shop and they have been unable to replicate the issue. I am not surprised by this since this appears to be random. They have told me to shut off my Auto Start/Stop feature and that is all they did. I have not had this issue looked at by Ford, police, or insurance since thankfully so far it has not occurred in an accident. The only warning message that appears is the "Auto StartStop, Shift to P then Restart Engine" on the cluster. I have not noticed and symptoms that result in this issue so far. This issue first appeared January 2020. Note: This has NOTHING to do with the Auto Start/Stop feature of the vehicle. I have had this issue occur when the Start/Stop feature is active and when it is disengaged.
There wasnt an incident yet, but it was made a law that after may 1st, 2018, all new vehicles need rear view visibility systems. Ford made their vehicles have backup cameras, but they are faulty and stop working. Then charge consumers thousands of dollars to fix a safety issue that should be a recall, free of charge. I am filing a complaint om behalf of thousands and thousands of Ford owners. This law went into effect may 1st of 2018, According to USDOT and the National Highway Traffic safety administration. What ford is doing is wrong/unlawful and they should have to follow the law just like everyone else (even being an automobile company).
Engine doesn’t start when turning the key. When taking the key out and reinserted the engine starts. Auto stop start failure light displayed on dash while idling at a a stop light. Had to turn the ignition off and on several time while at the light. Vehicle has not been reported to the manufacturer or inspected yet. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
After towing a trailer for a few hours, the truck has difficulty cranking over after the truck has been turned off for refueling. It seems like the battery or alternator are bad, but I have had both checked and they are in good shape. This only happens when pulling a trailer. This has happened multiple times. The safety concern is being stranded on a road trip. Others have this issue on the 2018 f150 as well. I have read about this. Some have said a wire is overheating.
At 9,000 miles the oil ran dry in the engine. No warning lights came on. The vehicle had routine oil change at 5,000 miles. I was stranded on the road with no transportation. After several oil consumption test Ford agreed to replace the motor with a long block. After 1,000 miles on the second motor the oils was over 2 quarts low on oil. Ford remedy was a longer dipstick with wider oil range. After two oil consumption tests Ford change the motor again with short block. After 20 miles the one of the heads went bad. Ford replaced one head. After 75 miles the vehicle stopped running and is in the shop again. The vehicle has been in the shop for over 6 weeks at a time. I have requested a buy back twice.
The F150 will stall when auto start/stop activates. This is a critical safety issue due to the vehicle becoming inoperable at intersections while stopped. The issue was reviewed several times by the dealership and issue persisted. The issue is still not repaired and mitigated by deactivating the system. This resulted in a lemon law lawsuit from me to ford with me winning a settlement for 8K dollars. However, this dangerous issue must be properly repaired. I am able to demonstrate this issue upon request. I have also have video of the incident with warning lights that activate.
Vehicle was inspected by the dealership and Ford inspector. VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL RELATED PROBLEMS OF THE 2018 Ford F-150. Backing up to an elevated driveway on a residential street. Braking at 0 mph and the vehicle accelerated at a speed which crashed the front end of the neighbor’s car parked at the top of the driveway. Those neighbors have two small children which play on that driveway and would have been killed. The neighbor heard the brakes screeching. I did not have my foot on the accelerator. This incident was reported to the police, the dealership and Ford which inspected the vehicle. They claim they did not find a problem, but there are a multitude of similar issues online. I received an recall email from NHTSA today, March 22, 2022 which I was convinced was FORD and NHTSA resolving this issue because the NHTSA information (in its brevity) seemed similar to what happened with our F-150. However, the NHTSA Campaign number 22V150000, recall number 22S11. However, our F-150 is a 5.0L engine.
The vehicle I am writing about is 2018 F150 equipped with the 2.7L eco boost and the 10 speed transmission. The vehicle came standard with the auto-stop start feature. I however do not like the system to I press the “stop/start button” to turn off the system. The vehicle has appx 53,000 miles on it I had been driving for approximately 10 minutes and had made several stops without incident. I however came to approximately the 6th stop and the engine of the truck shit off completely, oil pressure indicated zero with a battery discharge light. The center screen displayed the message “auto stop start, shift to P, then restart engine”. I shifted to park and was able to restart. Although I was at a stop I worry if the vehicle is capable of shutting down randomly like this while in motion. This was not a routine shut down of the auto stop start system. I understand that this is anecdotal, but Ford F-150 owner forums online are filled with similar complaints of 2018-2020 F150s with the auto stop start system displaying the same message and having similar shut downs. I will be taking the vehicle to a Ford dealership for evaluation. However this is an issue that warrants attention and a TSB by Ford needs to be developed.
On Jan 1st-I was returning to SE Michigan from Cincinnati and driving thru rain most of the way back that has turned to snow shortly after I crossed into Michigan. I was on M23 doing about 70MPH just south of I96 interchange (Brighton, MI) when my vehicle shuddered three different times in about a minute for maybe 2-3 seconds. Then a warning light flashed on my dashboard and went off before I could read it. Then it appeared again and flashed off again. Then vehicle shuddered again and my entire dashboard lit up with every warning light seemingly possible and all type of warning/error messages started circling thru main dash info center. My engine turned off and I had no power steering, brakes, etc. I pulled off to the side of the road safely but in a very congested area with left & right merging lanes. I shut engine off and waited 5 minutes and turned it back on and proceeded the test of the 30 minutes home w/o incident. I haven't had the issue since. However, I went online and saw numerous reports of other situations from F150 owners-most seemed to be a one time occurrence. Others, it was constant or would happen at specific speeds. Unfortunately, most don't report these incidences. I had an appt scheduled to run codes but had to reschedule and had it in this morning for a tailgate issue (separate recall issue). While I was able to get it to the side of the road, had my 17 year old daughter been driving this, it could have been a very unfortunate incident (new driver, petite girl with limited strength to turn or compress brakes with no power assist to either or panicking with no experience in such a situation). This needs to be investigated due to numerous complaints/reports on online forums.
The A/C unit does not blow hot or cold. This seems to be a common problem for years with a lot of the FORD F-150 based on a lot youtube videos. No one can seem to understand where the problem is originating from. When I got it diagnosed that they suspected the grounding wire is exposed and touching metal at some point in the system. Overall, I think electrical wire that is not working can have a knock on effect to other parts of the car system.
The passenger side door would not lock. The door appeared to be closed, but when I drove about 300 feet, the door flew open. I had to keep hitting the lock button and slam the door closed before the door actually locked. The outside temperature was 22 degrees Fahrenheit. This happened to me one another time, also when the outside temperature was below freezing.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph when the vehicle's side air bags on the driver-side, front and rear, suddenly deployed without impact. The contact then noticed that a small fire had sparked on the floorboard near their feet. The contact had pulled over to the side of the road where an observer was able to retrieve a fire extinguisher from their home and put out the fire. The contact was unable to verify if a fire report was made. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who had not diagnosed or repaired the vehicle as of yet. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

I was driving and as I came to a stop I lost all power and engine shut off. Received an error message to put vehicle in park and restart engine.
my tailgate opened on its own while i was pulling a trailer and the tailgate got all scratched up . This isn't the first time its opened on its own .ford had put an update on the truck after the first time that was supposed to resolve the issue . I took it back to the dealer and they looked it over and said they can't find any problems now. i don't feel they were being honest in there assessment or did they look very hard to fix this issue . if the tailgate opens again on its own it could be very dangerous for any traffic behind as unsecured cargo could fall out at highway speeds .
apim module only works part time. When it is not working, which is 99% of the time, the radio, GPS, and other devices will not work correctly. Ford diagnostics at the dealership tell me the apim module needs replacing.
Complete failure of the Sync 3 Advanved Program Interface Module (APIM). Recall available up until 2017 model year, 2018 needs to be included. I purchased my vehicle used in August 2019 with 28,000 miles and had problems with the APIM from the start. Dealer refuses to replace. Problems include: -Device will not update firmware over Wi-Fi or USB flash drive. -None of the official Ford Sync mobile apps on iPhone will connect to APIM. -Resuming music from USB flash drive frozen in memory from same song and time every time I start the car even after playing many songs ahead. -Turning off the vehicle loses the current clock time. -Driving durring the day with headlights off, screen randomly goes black into night mode. Dealer quoted me $1008 to replace APIM, not gonna happen. I researched prices online and can purchase this and do it myself for less than $300 but, I shouldn't have to.
Ford Sync 3 system in 2018 F-150 has been faulty, dealership diagnosed it as a faulty APIM, no longer covered under standard warranty. Online forums are littered with similar issues, Ford refuses to address or cover, wants > $1k for replacement. Symptions: - Main display screen goes completely blank - Backup camera does not display - Handsfree bluetooth disconnects - GPS freezes, directions do not display
THE APIM IS DEFECTIVE THE GPS SIGNIAL ON THE NAVIGATION IS MESSED UP IT WILL SHOW THAT I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF A LAKE OR FIELD WHEN I'M ON THE ROAD, THE NAVIGATION IS ALSO VERY SLOW AND THE BACKUP SENSORS DON'T WORK AS EXPECTED WHEN BACKING UP THE 360 CAMERA IS ALSO EXTREMELY LAGY AND TAKES 15 SECONDS TO ACTIVATE. FORD SAYS THIS PART IS 1800 BUT IT IS AN INTERNAL PART OF THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND SHOULDN'T JUST FAIL

I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM BECAUSE THE TAIL LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT WATER WAS IN BOTH TAIL LIGHTS AND HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR $3,000. MY TRUCK IS A 2018, HAS ONLY 18,000 MILES AND WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND NO ACCIDENTS. THE SERVICE CLAIMED THE WATER GOT IN BECAUSE OF DAMAGE TO THE TAIL LIGHT. THE MARKS HE POINTED OUT ON THE TAIL LIGHTS WERE VERY LIGHT SCUFF MARKS AND COULD NOT ALLOW WATER TO GET INSIDE. THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPLACEMENT BECAUSE OF THE SCUFF MARKS. I WENT ON A FORD FORUM AND FOUND THAT THERE HAD BEEN PLENTY OF OTHER 2018 (AND OTHER YEARS) THAT HAD WATER IN THEIR TAIL LIGHTS AS WELL. THE TRUCKS THAT WERE OUT OF WARRANTY JUST REMOVE THE TAIL LIGHT, DRAINED THE WATER, APPLIED SILICON AROUND THE SEEMS OF THE TAIL LIGHT AND HAD NO ISSUES SINCE THEN. I'VE ATTACHED PICTURES. YOU'LL SEE THAT THERE IS NO WAY WATER COULD HAVE ENTER WHERE YOU SEE SCUFF MARKS LIKE THE SERVICE MANAGER CLAIMS. THE PICTURES ARE THE LEFT AND RIGHT TAIL LIGHTS. THIS CAUSES LOSS OF NAVIGATION AND MUCH FUMBLING WITH PHONE AND USB CABLE TO TRY AND RECONNECT WHILE DRIVING, RESULTING IN DRIVER DISTRACTION. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS AND ON HIGHWAYS.

THIS TRUCK WAS PURCHASED NEW, FROM TEST DRIVE THRU 2 YEARS OF DRIVING 40,000 MILES I HAVE ALWAYS TURNED OFF START STOP AT EACH START UP. WHEN I FORGET TO TURN OFF IT HAS PREFORMED AS DESIGNED UNTIL LAST WEEK. NOW WHEN START/STOP IS ON AND I COME TO STOP AT RED LIGHT THAT CHANGES GREEN AS SOON AS I STOP THE VEHICLE REQUIRES ME TO GO TO PARK AND RESTART ENGINE. THE SYSTEM WORKS FINE IF RED LIGHT IS OVER 5/10 SECONDS. THIS HAPPENED ON US27 4 LANE AT STOP LIGHT SOMERSET, KY 7/20/2020. THE TRUCK HAS JUST RUN OUT OF WARRANTY 4,000 MILES FORD SERVICE REFUSED TO DELETE THE START STOP FEATURE. THIS IS A UNSAFE FEATURE THAT NOW HAS BECOME A ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. THE REFUSAL TO DELETE AFFIRMS MY SUSPICION THIS IS A BUILT IN MONEY MAKER FOR OUT OF WARRANTY FORD JUNK.

ON TWO OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN STOPPED AND WAITING TO TURN LEFT ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC ON A FOUR LANE STATE HIGHWAY. THE ENGINE AUTO STOP FEATURE SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. WHEN I LET OF THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE AUTO STARTED AND I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. I HAD NO POWER STEERING AND NEARLY DROVE INTO A DITCH. IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS A DELAY BETWEEN WHEN THE ENGINE AUTO STARTS AND WHEN THE POWER STEERING WORKS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT IS DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL WITHOUT POWER STEERING. ESPECIALLY WHEN CROSSING LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR

PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE WITH 36K MILES (2018) AND HAVE OWNED FOR LESS THAN ONE MONTH. WHEN TRYING TO OPEN THE SUNROOF FOR THE FIRST TIME THERE WAS A LOUD POPPING SOUND. THE SUNROOF FAILS TO OPEN, AND NOW RAIN LEAKS IN THROUGH THE ROOF. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A $72K VEHICLE THAT IS TWO YEARS OLD. SINCE THE VEHICLE IS OVER 36K MILES, THE DEALERSHIP (FORD DEALER) REFUSES TO FIX.

FORD F-150 2018 SUPER CREW CAB 1ST WATER LEAK INSIDE OF OUR TRUCK CAB CREATED A MILDEW SMELL DUE TO WET CARPET PADDING AND CARPETS. WATER SATURATED ELECTRICAL WIRING UNDER THE DOOR SEAL PROTECTORS ON THE RIGHT-SIDE OF THE FRONT AND REAR DOORS. FIRST NOTICED A PROBLEM DRIVING AND APPLYING THE BRAKES WE HEARD A WATER SLOSHING SOUND ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE TRUCK. INDICATIONS OF WATER IN CAB AND SATURATED CARPET'S AND WIRING WENT UNNOTICED DUE TO WEATHER TECH FULL FLOOR MATS. WE CONTACTED FORD CORPORATION ONLINE AND THEY ADVISED FOR US TO TAKE IT INTO OUR DEALERSHIP TO BE ASSESSED. OUR DEALERSHIP MADE AN APPOINTMENT A WEEK OUT, SO OUR TRUCK SAT IN OUR GARAGE FOR AN ADDITIONAL WEEK. WE USED A SHOP VAC AND SUCKED OUT AS MUCH WATER AS WE COULD AND LEFT THE DOOR WINDOWS DOWN TO HELP DRY OUT THE INTERIOR. THE DEALERSHIP REMOVED AND REINSTALLED THE TRIM PANELS WITH SILICONE SEALANT ON BOTH DOORS ON THE RIGHT SIDE.

THIS IS A CONTINUATION WITH COMPLAINT NUMBER 11307725 ALREADY FILED. FORD F-150 2018 SUPER CREW CAB 2ND DISCOVERY OF WATER LEAK IN CAB OF TRUCK WITH WET CARPET PADDING AND CARPETS AGAIN ONLY THIS TIME THE WATER LEAK WAS BEHIND THE BACK SEATS DOWN THE CAB WALL INTERIOR. CALLED OUR FORD DEALERSHIP BACK AND TOOK OUR TRUCK BACK IN FOR THEM TO ASSESS THIS 2ND WATER LEAK. OUR FORD DEALERSHIP ADVISED THAT THEY HAD TO REMOVE THE TRUCK BED TO FIND THIS WATER LEAK COMING IN FROM THE REAR CAB VENTS AND LOCKING TABS ON VENTS. THEY ALSO FOUND THE CARPET INSULATOR WAS BEHIND THE REAR VENTS WHICH CAUSED THE VENT SEAL TO WARP AND LEAK. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR VENTS COMPLETELY THEN THEY RETESTED FOR LEAKS AND FOUND NO LEAKS AT THAT TIME. THEY ALSO REPLACED THE TRUCK BED BOLTS AND HAD TO RESPRAY IN THE BED LINER OVER THE BOLTS.

THE TRANSMISSION WILL TWIST THE DRIVESHAFT AT STARTUP, STATIONARY, AND CAUSE THE REAR END TO POP VERY LOUDLY. I'VE SHOWN FORD ENGINEERING A VIDEO OF IT, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NORMAL. I'VE NEVER HEARD OF A VEHICLE DOING THIS BEFORE. THERE IS A RATTLING SOUND ON DECELERATION, LOUDEST WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD AND LESSONS OR MAYBE EVEN GOES AWAY AFTER WARMED UP. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED EARLIER THIS YEAR BECAUSE OF AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE. THE TRUCK HAS MEMORY POWER DRIVER'S SEAT AND POWER MIRRORS THAT SHOULD GO INTO PLACE DEPENDING ON THE KEY FOB THAT IT DETECTS. RANDOMLY BOTH SIDE MIRRORS WILL START MOVING AND POPPING BEFORE GOING BACK INTO POSITION. THIS ALWAYS OCCURS BEFORE THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. I'VE NOTICED THAT IT IS USUALLY WHEN IT DETECTS THE KEY FOB OR WHEN I USE THE FOB FOR SOME FUNCTION. THE SEAT RANDOMLY DOESN'T GO INTO THE MEMORY POSITION AT STARTUP.
STARTED TO PULL THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL INTERSECTION AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN. THE TRUCK COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AFTER MOVING ABOUT 5 FEET PULLING INTO THE INTERSECTION. A MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE DASH SCREEN ABOUT AUTO STARTSTOP AND THAT I NEEDED TO PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND RESTART IT. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. I SLOWLY ROLLED TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET, PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED. THERE WERE NO MORE ISSUES ON THE REMAINING 25 MILE DRIVE. THE AUTOSTOP FEATURE HAD BEEN DISABLED VIA THE DASH SWITCH BEFORE EVER LEAVING HOME. THE SWITCH WAS STILL ILLUMINATED AMBER SHOWING THAT AUTOSTOP HAD IN FACT BEEN TURNED OFF MANUALLY BEFORE IT HAPPENED ON ITS OWN, WHILE UNDER POWER. WITH THE ENGINE NOT RUNNING, THE POWER STEERING IS ALSO DISABLED. AFTER A BIT OF INVESTIGATION, I HAVE FOUND VIA ONLINE TRUCK DEDICATED FORUMS THAT I AM NOT ALONE AND THIS HAS HAPPENED TO NUMEROUS PEOPLE WITH F150'S SINCE 2015. THE PICTURE THAT I AM ATTACHING IS NOT MY OWN, BUT IS THE SAME MESSAGE THAT WAS GENERATED TO ME THIS MORNING. THIS PICTURE IS FROM ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL THAT THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO AND REPORTED IN THE ABOVE MENTIONED FORUMS. AUTOSTOP INITIATION OF ITS OWN ACCORD WHILE UNDERWAY COULD HAVE DIRE CONSEQUENCES IF PULLING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THROUGH A BUSY INTERSECTION OR SIMPLY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.

I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH ERRORS/FAILED SENSORS FOR THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM ON THIS VEHICLE. AFTER 2 TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND CHANGING 2 SENSORS THE ISSUE WAS STILL PRESENT. I ACCIDENTALLY IDENTIFIED THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE - INTERFERENCE FROM A DASHCAM - A REXING V1P PRO 3RD GENERATION. MEASURED ON A SPECTRUM ANALYZER THIS INTERFERENCE IS AT 312 MHZ AT AROUND (-78 DBM 1 M FROM THE DASHCAM) WHILE THE TPMS SENSORS OPERATE AROUND 315 MHZ AND MEASURE AROUND -82 DBM AT THE SAME LOCATION. THIS LEVEL OF INTERFERENCE (EVEN IF IT IS IN EXCESS OF FCC PART 15 EMISSIONS - AND I WILL BE CHECKING WITH THE FCC ALSO) AT THIS KIND OF FREQUENCY SEPARATION SHOULD NOT CAUSE ERRORS OR A FAILURE IN THE TPMS MONITORING SYSTEM. ALSO OF CONCERN IS THAT THE ERRORS DO NO SHOW UP FOR 45 MIN-1 HR OF DRIVING DESPITE TPMS DATA FROM ONE OR MORE WHEEL NOT BEING RECEIVED FOR THIS DURATION (CONFIRMED THROUGH ODBII DATA). THIS ALL POINTS TO A POORLY/CHEAPLY DESIGNED TPMS RECEIVER MODULE THAT IS PRONE TO FAILURE IF EXPOSED TO RF FROM ANY NUMBER OF DEVICES. I AM ALSO AN AMATEUR RADIO OPERATOR AND DO 2-WAY RADIO WORK FOR THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SO IT CONCERNS ME THAT EVEN NORMAL LMR OPERATION IN ONE OF THESE VEHICLES COULD CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE. THE TPMS RECEIVER SHOULD BE TESTED FOR REASONABLE RELIABILITY IN THE PRESENCE OF RF IN ADJACENT SPECTRUM AND RECALLED IF NOT COMPLIANT WITH FCC PART 15 OR NHTSA OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS. THE DEALER/MANUFACTURER HAVE REFUSED TO EVEN LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE BEYOND WHAT THEY HAVE ALREADY DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP.

TAILGATE RANDOMLY OPENS WHILE DRIVING AND OR AFTER DRIVING WHEN PARKED. WILL ALSO HAPPEN AGAIN REPEATEDLY AFTER CLOSING. WHILE TAILGATE IS OPEN AFTER FALLING IN OPEN POSITION YOU CAN HEAR RELAY CLICKING NOISES IN PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD AREA. SOUNDS LIKE RELAYS ARE CONSTANTLY TRIGGERING TO OPEN TAILGATE. INITIALLY THOUGHT KEY FOB WAS TRIGGERING PROBLEM, BUT ISOLATED KEYFOB AND DETERMINED KEYFOB IS NOT THE ISSUE. AM CONCERNED THAT ITEMS IN BACK OF BED AREA ARE GOING TO FALL OUT WHEN TRUCK IS MOVING AND CAUSE ACCIDENT OR WORSE. SOMETIMES DO NOT HEAR THAT THE TAILGATE OPENED WHEN DRIVING. FORD 2018 F150 REAR WINDOW / DEFROSTER ISSUES - LUCKILY, MY REAR WINDOW DID NOT SHATTER AS OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED, BUT I HAVE EXPERIENCED DEFROSTER OVERHEATING TO THE POINT WHERE 2 OUT OF 3 SECTIONS OF THE WINDOW NO LONGER WORK. UPON INSPECTION, IT APPEARS THE RESISTIVE ELEMENTS ARE BURNT AND BECOMING DELAMINATED FROM THE WINDOW IN MULTIPLE PLACES. I DID ALSO SMELL WARM/BURNING ELECTRONICS AT THE TIME IT HAPPENED. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP - AS THIS SHOULD STILL BE UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WAS TOLD THE CLAIM WAS DENIED, EVEN THOUGH I DID NOTHING TO CAUSE THIS AND THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHAT HAPPENED. I CAN SEE HOW A SUDDEN OVER-CURRENT / OVERHEATING LIKE THIS COULD LEAD TO GLASS SHATTERING AND FORD SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE IF THEIR CONTROLS AND/OR DEFROSTER ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IT IS ALSO DANGEROUS, AS MY VISION IS OBSTRUCTED AS A RESULT OF THIS ISSUE. THIS MOST LIKELY HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, DURING WARM-UP, USING AUTO-START.

WE GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT OVER THE WEEKEND. WE WERE T-BONES BY A BUS. IT WRECKED THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. HOWEVER, WHEN I WENT INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE TO GET MY PURSE OUT I NOTICED THAT THERE WERE FLAMES COMING FROM THE SIDE OF THE DRIVERS SEAT. OUR F150 IS NOW BURNT TO A CRISP. THERE'S NO REASON FOR THAT TRUCK TO HAVE CAUGHT FIRE LIKE THAT.
TRUCK SHUTS OFF WHEN PULLING A CAMPER AND WILL NOT RUN AFTER RESTART UNLESS YOU REV THE ENGINE AND QUICKLY PULL THE SHIFTER INTO DRIVE AND ACCELERATE QUICKLY. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWS 'AUTO STARTSTOP SHIFT TO P, THEM RESTART ENGINE.' THIS HAS CAUSED MANY NEAR MISS ACCIDENTS. THE VEHICLE WILL STALL WHEN YOU TRY TO CROSS AN INTERSECTION OR PULL AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN.

JUNE 21, 2018 WE WERE DRIVING DOWN HWY 1 BYPASS IN FORREST CITY, AR AND WERE HIT ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, PASSENGER DOOR AND GAS TANK AREA. THE TRUCK TOOK THE IMPACT WELL AND WE SPUN 180 DEGREES TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE SIDE AND CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT WERE UNHARMED, INCLUDING THE ONE WHOSE DOOR TOOK MOST OF THE IMPACT. MY HIP WAS INJURED FROM THE AIR BAG THAT DEPLOYED FROM THE BACK OF MY SEAT. AS I WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE ACCIDENT CALLING 911, THE SEAT BEGAN SMOKING. I TRIED TO EXIT OUT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND IT WAS JAMMED. SMOKE CONTINUED TO GET THICKER AND SMELLED LIKE AN ELECTRICAL/PLASTIC BURNING SMELL. I THEN HAD TO CRAWL OVER THE CENTER CONSOLE AND EXIT THROUGH THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. AT THAT POINT, THICK BLACK SMOKE WAS COMING FROM MY SEAT AND THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CAB BEGAN TO BURN. THE ACTUAL IMPACT DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT HAVE TOTALED IT OUT, BUT THE FIRE, SMOKE, AND WATER DAMAGE FROM THE FIRE BEING PUT OUT, DID. I HAVE ALSO FILED A CASE WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY, AS I BELIEVE THIS WAS A MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE. HAD WE NOT BEEN ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, MY ENTIRE FAMILY WOULD HAVE DIED FROM THIS FIRE, NOT THE IMPACT OF THE ACCIDENT. FROM OBSERVATIONS FROM THE POLICE, FIRE DEPARTMENT, WRECKER SERVICE, AND MY HUSBAND WHO IS A MECHANIC, THEY BELIEVE THAT THE FIRE WAS IGNITED WHEN THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I DID HAVE HEATED SEATS, AND THE VEHICLE WAS CLEARLY ON WHEN I WAS HIT AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED.

IN ADDITION, ALL AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND A FIRE STARTED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND WHEN THE PASSENGER DOOR IS UNLOCKED WITH THE KEY FOB THE TAILGATE FAILS DOWN. WHEN THE DRIVER EXITS THE VEHICLE THE TAILGATE FALLS DOWN. BY FALLS DOWN I MEAN THE TAILGATE ON THE PICKUP IS CLOSED AND IN THE VERTICAL POSITION AND THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE TAILGATE IS WITH THE KEY FOB. THE TAILGATE FOB IS DEPRESSED AND THE TAILGATE OPENS (FALLS DOWN) AUTOMATICALLY. ONLY THE TAILGATE CONTROLS ARE INCORRECTLY OPENING THE TAILGATE WHEN THE PASSENGER DOOR IS OPENED WITH THE KEY FOB OR WHEN YOU GET IN THE BACK DOORS. ALSO AFTER DRIVING THE TRUCK WHEN OPENING THE DRIVERS DOOR THE TAILGATE DROPS DOWN. IF A CHILD OR ADULT HAPPENS TO BE BEHIND THE TRUCK THE CAN GET HURT.
