Started vehicle could not move the wheel to turn towed it to a repair shop said it was not reading any codes it eventually let the wheel move again called ford service centers and they told me not to bring it in and if it doesn’t read codes and the vechicle steering does not lock up for them nothing they can do. I see this vehicle has had recalls on the steering issues but not my vin number was told don’t drive it or take your chances . The truck has low mileage and steering should have never locked up so hard that I am strong could not turn the wheel kept trying for hours till it would move shakes when driving jumps all over the road sloppy steering and I’m told no code can diagnose what the issue is with steering ?

NHTSA Safety Complaint Draft Vehicle Information: Make: Ford Model: F-150 Year: 2018 VIN: [XXX] Incident Summary: While driving my 2018 Ford F-150, the vehicle suddenly displayed a warning on the dashboard: “Steering Assist Fault – Service Required.” Within moments of this warning, I lost all power steering assist and was unable to control the vehicle, resulting in the truck veering off the road and into a ditch. This was a sudden and dangerous failure of the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system. I was fortunate not to have been injured, and no other vehicles were involved. However, this type of failure represents a major safety risk to me and to others on the road. I contacted Ford Motor Company and was assigned Case Number: [XXX]. Despite reporting the issue and explaining that the vehicle ran off the road, Ford refused to offer any assistance or goodwill repair. I was told the vehicle is outside of recall 24S45, even though it displays the exact same failure symptoms as recalled vehicles from later years. This failure could have resulted in serious injury or death. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this steering system failure and expand any related recall coverage to include affected 2018 F-150 models like mine. The steering wheel did not turn in the intended direction. No warning lights illuminated. The contact stated the steering wheel was detached and loose. The vehicle crashed into a nearby tree. The contact's son did not sustain any injuries. In addition, the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to the insurance company for inspection. The vehicle was condemned as a total loss by the insurance company. A police report was filed; however, the information was unavailable. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact was advised that the vehicle needed to be inspected by the investigator. The failure mileage was unknown.
The button on the steering wheel get hot then fail to work this has happened several times i have complained to ford. The cruise control quits working and all the buttons for the dash menu quit working. I will be driving down the road with the cruise control on and all of a sudden it will quit working. Then it will just come back on like you never shut it off and when you least expect it. when this happens you can not shut the thing off its gonna cause an accident.

I own a 2018 Ford F-150 with 56,000 miles, and I have been experiencing serious and unpredictable transmission issues. These problems first started around 48,000 miles, but at the time, I assumed it was normal behavior. However, the issues have progressively worsened, and by 55,000 miles, a wrench warning light started appearing intermittently. Symptoms: •While driving at highway speeds, the transmission unexpectedly drops from 10th gear to 1st gear, causing a sudden and severe deceleration. •The gear shifts are jerky, unpredictable, and rough, making it difficult to maintain control of the vehicle. •The wrench warning light appears occasionally but disappears quickly, making diagnosis difficult. •No diagnostic trouble codes (D DTCs) are stored or retrieved when scanned at multiple repair shops. •The issue happens intermittently, making it challenging to replicate on demand. •Started noticing issues at 48k miles, but they became significantly worse around 50k miles when the wrench light began appearing. •I called Ford to reset the radio/computer software, after hearing it might help, but it did not resolve the issue. •The unpredictable transmission behavior causes severe anxiety while driving, as I never know when it will happen again. Attempts to Fix: •I have taken my truck to multiple repair shops and Ford dealerships, but since no codes are present, they have been unable to diagnose or fix the issue. •Mechanics have checked for transmission recalls or software updates, but no clear solution has been provided. •I contacted Ford for a radio/computer software reset, hoping it might help, but this did not fix the problem. Safety Concerns: •The abrupt downshifting poses a serious safety hazard to myself and other drivers on the road, especially at high speeds. •There is an increased risk of accidents due to sudden deceleration and loss of control. •The problem occurs without warning, making it difficult to predict or prevent.
This has now happened 8+ times. While traveling on the highway towing either a boat or trailer, my engine shuts down. This has happened at 75 mph. The error code :Auto StartStop Shift to P, then Restart Engine" displays on the instrument panel. Power steering does not work, steering becomes quite difficult. I have found several other instances of this same issue in Ford forums. So... at 75mph, on a highway, I lost all power 3-5 times in one trip. Each time I coasted to the safety strip, put the truck in park, and restarted. Several times the vehicle would not restart immediately. I pulled off the highway and did some research and disables the Auto Start/Stop feature, which seemed to alleviate the issue. Unfortunately I cannot permanently disable the feature. I did stop at a Ford dealership and showed them a picture of the error code. The dealership did not have a fix, and stated it was not a known issue. The last instance was in November, I have not towed since then. Today another mechanic flashed the PM module that controls Auto Start/Stop for another issue, an emissions recall, but did not know if that update would also clear up the towing issue. I have found at least 5 other instances of the the same issue with other Ford F150s in online forums.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while leaving a parking space, the power steering functionality became inoperable. The contact stated that the steering wheel was difficult to turn after restarting the vehicle. The contact checked the tires for low air pressure. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the failure was due to the steering actuator. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case, but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

I noticed the steering wheel became very loose one day randomly. If you placed your hands and the 9 and 3 position on the steering wheel it would rock back and forth very freely. I carried the truck to a shop and they looked into the steering wheel and found the bolt the holds the steering wheel onto the steering column was loose. It was spinning freely is was so loose. If the bolt would have loosen a little bit more the steering wheel would have became detached.
Took my Ford F150 in for an oil change. Ford dealer informed me the steering gear assembly had completely broke near the gear box at only 68k (I do not know when the break happened). Although the vehicle is drivable, it has a chance of losing steering at any time and was advised not to drive it. No vehicle warnings are provided, and the truck has been regularly serviced over the years without me being informed of an issue. It is available for inspection as I am on a waitlist for a backordered steering gear assembly part.
When the auto stop/start feature is engaged at a stop and I am the first vehicle at the light or stop sign, the steering is unresponsive when making a turn into or through the intersection after the auto start re-engages and has posed a safety issue steering/turning because of the delay that occurs in powering the power steering pump. On repeated instances, I have entered an intersection making a turn expecting the steering to be powered, only to find I have to struggle with the steering manually until the pump engages. The first time I asked the dealer to check the issue, I was told that my battery was dead and I had to buy a new one. I was told that would take care of the problem. The problem returned, however, and I took the truck back to the dealer. During the second dealer visit, I was told that the power steering pump is electric and has to run off the battery for a period of time (they confirmed the battery was fine during this second visit) after the auto stop/start re-engages and that is what causes the delay in power steering after the auto stop/start turns the engine back on. I was told that it gets worse if the battery doesn't have a full charge, but there was nothing that could be done to resolve the issue. On multiple occasions, I have feared that I would end up in a wreck with oncoming traffic after I struggled to steer until the pump engaged. Why would the manufacturer design a system that creates such a safety issue? The date below is the approximate date and mileage for the second dealer visit.
I have been having nothing but problems with this truck since I purchased it and I'm looking to see if anyone can help me out with this truck. I have had it now almost two years and the truck was in the shop for 3 months of it getting worked. I have had nothing but problems with the braking system as well. The dealer wouldn't sell me the original pads for it, they sent someone to car quest to get a set of pads. Whenever i gave them the vin i would always end up with the wrong parts somehow. So i dont know if there is vin fraud or what but something wasn't adding up. The dealer i purchased it from is not much of help. The water pump has gone out, the cam phasers were replaced(and are rattling again.) The starter was replaced due to clunking when started.( still clunks) Oil pan gasket was replaced. The transmission had to be replaced. I am just trying to see what my options are with this truck. It's clearly a lemon and just wondering if there's anything anyone can do to help because the reliability of this 35,000 dollar truck is out the window.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the vehicle lost braking capability. The vehicle was placed in Manual Mode. The low power steering fluid message was displayed. The contact was able to pull into a gas station to purchase power steering fluid. The contact added power steering fluid; however, while the vehicle was parked, the power steering fluid leaked out of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated that the failure was due to a failed seal and that the master pump had leaked from the rear seal. The contact called the local dealer, who referred him to the manufacturer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 132,401.

I was driving on a congested thoroughfare during rush hour on a Friday night. My truck became unresponsive and the steering wheel locked up. The truck made a screeching stop. With over 100 cars behind me honking. I was unable to drive car off the road shoulder in a safe location. The cars electrical system when dead. With very limited battery life on my phone, I worked to to solve this problem. Luckily I had a few tools in the truck and was able to dismantle the all of the underdash plastic and metal components in about 1 hr with cachophany of honking and yelling with ever car. No stopped to help. I had to push the vehicle approx a quarter of a mile on a moderate incline and jump in the cab without power steering and coast down a side street. I had to learn how to put the car in neutral this way to move. This is Friday night and unable to get a towing service provider to my location, I had to wait in a lesser than desirable neighborhood until 2:30 am to get the car to my place residence. This was one of the scariest and deadliest incidents I have ever had in a motor vehicle. I am deathly afraid this will reoccur on a highway with fatal consequences.
I was riding down the road the truck started to run hot then it slammed on brakes the power steering went out the panel the instrument panel was black I couldn't roll my windows down the truck was in drive but it wouldn't go and the motor was still running though and then it came all came back up and then it did this all the way home it would slam on break it didn't matter if I was going 30 or 60 and then it shut off before it got home and then the only way to get it going again was to jump it off

Steering wheel bolt came loose, allowing the steering wheel to wobble. I was able to remove the bolt by hand, that's how loose it was. I repaired it myself using loctite and retorquing the bolt.
Issue is with the electric steering rack. Vehicle has 34,000 miles. Purchased used. Have been having to constantly to correct the vehicle that drifts to the left. Can hear the electric steering motor constantly attempting to correct driver's correction. Vehicle is equipped with engine auto shut down feature, which when starting to turn from a stopped/shutdown, becomes very hard. Purchased four (4) new tires six (6) months ago. Now both front tires are "scalloped", which effects the control and ride.
The electric steering causes wandering to both sides and pulling to both sides especially on turns. Extra effort is required to steer and constant attention is needed to stay on the road and not into the oncoming traffic or running the car off the road next to you. You cannot turn your eyes away from the road to adjust controls for even a second, you don't know where you will be on the road. I've had it back to WESTHERR FORD 3X with the same complaint , only to be told it's normal and I'm not used to it and that they can't duplicate my concerns. Although it happens all the time and I drove other trucks on their lot that didn't act like that. If you take your hands off the steering wheel it will not drive straight. Sometimes it goes left sometimes it goes right. Sometimes it goes back and forth like it's getting an erratic electric signal. The mechanic even noticed it but the work orders never mention it.
While driving at generally any speed from 8mph up to 70mph the electronic steering wheel will pull in either direction, I have brought this truck into a certified Ford dealership and they said everything they checked out was okay with said truck. This is not okay as it almost pulled me into the ditch while turning a corner. Other then that incident this erratic steering situation arises anytime I am driving, it does not appear to be intermittent.
The steering wheel has cracked in the center area housing the AIR BAG and HORN. I believe this is a safety hazard. With the crack going over half of the way through the steering wheel, there is a chance of the AIR BAG DEPLOYING without cause.
The rack and pinion of the vehicle is locking up and becoming very stiff when driving. The steering locked up while in a curve and steered me into oncoming traffic with others in the vehicle. This needs to to be recalled so it can be repaired. There are multiple TSB reports from the manufacturer about the issue as well as a law suit against the manufacturer for the issue. It is gradually getting to be worse of an issue the more I drive it
The steering rack system (electronic steering) of the vehicle began 10 months ago to show in certain moments a condition of hardness even with vehicle parked. Then 2 months ago, while driving in an earthen type road the steering system completely blocked and it was impossible to turn and almost caused me to have an accident in the road when approached a curve.
When accelerating to pass another vehicle the truck started shaking violently engine rpms were erratic and I lost almost all forward momentum. This incident almost caused a head on collision. Truck has shifted erratic since purchased and has undergone the lastest ford updates/repairs to no avail. Four-wheel drive is also engaging randomly and has also been repaired to no avail. It would be great if something would be done about these issues before someone gets killed. You just never know how the truck is going to drive on any given day...
This vehicle won't track in a lane. it has to to be constantly held from changing lanes. At any given time it will want to turn to the right or go to the right and in 50 feet feet, it will want to do the same thing to the left. It never wants to go straight. The vehicle is a lot better since we placed it in Grapevine Ford for two weeks to repair the issues. They improved it greatly, but it's not fixed.
The steering wheel horn button, where the airbag is behind it, is cracked. This is the second time it’s cracked since I’ve on the vehicle. The first time it was fixed by Mike Castrucci Ford April 22, 2019. I actually spoke to someone at Kings Ford named Tricia just a couple of days ago, and she told me that it was not under warranty. I tried to explain to her that this has happened before when it was under warranty and fixed already, and this was the second time, but she refused to help me. It looks like it’s called the AB module - airbag on this invoice I’m holding. At times, it seems to leak some sort of liquid slightly from the cracks, and the horn does not always work when I push on the button itself. I have included a picture of the invoice when it was fixed once before, and I’ll try to include pictures I took today of the horn button.
My air bag in the steering wheel is starting to come out I am worried it is going to deploy with the way it looks. See photo...I called the Ford Dealership and they refused to report it.
JUST PURCHASED A 2018 F150 XLT WITH XTR PACKAGE WITH APPROXIMATELY 36,500 MILES. NOTICED THAT VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL HAS PLAY AND TENDS TO SWAY, ALMOST FEELING LOOSE, WHEN DRIVING UNDER 50MPH. INFORMED DEALER AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED. ASKED DEALER FOR RESULTS OF ALIGNMENT CONDITION AND MEASUREMENTS PRIOR TO ALIGNMENT BEING PERFORMED AND WAS TOLD THEY DO NOT KEEP RECORDS OF PREVIOUS MEASUREMENTS ONLY RESULTS AND MEASUREMENTS AFTER WORK WAS PERFORMED. UPON LEAVING STEERING WHEEL STILL STEERS AWAY WHEN DRIVING UNDER 50MPH. WHEN COMPARED WITH OTHER VEHICLES IT DEFINITELY HAS PLAY. DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME HAZARDOUS ISSUE BEING REPORTED. SWAYING AND PLAY IN STEERING WHEEL IS CONSTANT UNDER 50MPH. CORRECTION OF STEERING WHEEL IS EXHAUSTING TO HANDS AND WRISTS AND FEELING OF BEING UNSAFE IS PRESENT WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE. HAVE CONTACTED DEALER, LEFT MESSAGE TO SPEAK MORE ON THIS AND NO ONE HAS CALLED US BACK SINCE WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN A WEEK AGO. WE HAVE OUR CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP!

THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRIC POWER STEERING DOES NOT TURN BACK ON QUICKLY WHEN STARTING FROM START/STOP.THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE PURCHASING VEHICLE (02/2019). THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND THE STEERING DID POWER AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS.
Mileage: 22,000
VEHICLE HAS AUTOMATIC START STOP FEATURE. AFTER VEHICLE RESTARTS POWER STEERING DOES NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE FOR 2-5 SECONDS. VEHICLE IS MOVING UNDER POWER BUT HAS NO STEERING ASSIST. 3 REPAIR VISITS WITH NO DIAGNOSIS. PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING ALMOST SINCE NEW. SOMETIMES DELAY IS PRESENT, SOMETIMES IT'S NOT. CAN'T PREDICT WHEN STEERING ASSIST WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE.

MY 2018 F150 BEGAN HAVING STEERING ASSIST FAILURE AT APPROX 50,000 MILES. THERE HAVE BEEN TWO OCASSIONS WHERE WHILE DRIVING STEERING ASSIST GOES OUT AND THE STEERING WHEEL GETS STIFF ALMOST CAUSING ME TO COLLIDE WITH OTHER VEHICLES. I CONTACTED FORD ABOUT THE ISSUE AND AS THEY ARE AWARE THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION AT MY EXPENSE.AT 63,000 MILES MY PICK UP HAS NO POWER STEERING.
IN HEAVY RAIN ON 10/15/2020 VEHICLE PULLED HARD TO THE LEFT. RESULTING IN VEHICLE HYDROPLANING OF OF I26 AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WENT INTO THE MEDIAN HITTING A BUNCH OF SMALL TREES AND TEARING UP THE VEHICLE. I BARELY MISSED A LARGE TREE THAT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN INJURIES TO ME AND MY 6 YEAR OLD SON. LUCKILY NO INJURIES WHERE SUSTAINED. PREVIOUS TO THE INCIDENT I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING OCCASIONAL PULLING TO THE LEFT. ALSO A GRINDING NOISE. BELIEVE TO HAVE A PROBLEM ON THE LEFT FROM SIDE. INCIDENTS WHERE SO OCCASIONAL THAT I DID NOT TAKE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR REPAIR BELIEVING THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO FIND AN ISSUE THAT HAPPENED ONLY VERY RARELY. (MAYBE ONCE PER MONTH) AFTER THE INCIDENT I GOT LOOKING AROUND AND FOUND A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM FORD THAT I BELIEVE IS RELATED TO THIS ISSUE. FORD SHOULD BE RECALLING VEHICLES FOR THIS SO THAT PEOPLE ARE NOT INJURED. BULLETIN NUMBER IS 18-2273. PICS AND BULLETIN ATTACHED.

I WAS TAKING MY GRAND DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL AND SHE GOT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE, SHE CLOSED THE DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT "LATCH" AND WE COULD NOT GET IT TO LATCH TO SECURE THE DOOR FROM OPENING WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. I WAS AFRAID THE DOOR WOULD OPEN WHILE DRIVING AND FALL OUT (THIS NEEDS FIXED ASAP. ANOTHER PROBLEM IS WHEN DRIVING 60 MPH OR GREATER THE STEERING WILL "CATCH" THAT IS WHEN GOING AROUND A TURN LEFT OR RIGHT WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL IT KIND OF JERKS AND DOESN'T MAINTAIN CONSTANT TURN IT SEEMS TO LOOSE A CONSTANT CONTROL. THIS CAN CAUSE AN OVER CORRECTION AND LOSS OF CONTROL. IN ORDER TO TRY TO CONTROL I HAVE TO HAVE BOTH HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND KNOW IT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT WOULD A YOUNG INEXPERIENCED DRIVER DO...MOST LIKELY OVER CORRECT AND CRASH.

DRIVING THE F150 I NOTICED A POPPING NOISE WHEN TURNING. SHORTLY AFTER THE POPPING NOISE WHEN NEGOTIATING A TURN THE RACK AND PINION LOCKED UP. TRUCK WENT INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. NOW THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED AND A TROUBLE CODE WAS DISPLAYED. RACK AND PINION IS BAD AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. RACK AND PINION ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER THROUGH FORD MOTOR COMPANY. THIS WAS A EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION ESPECIALLY WITH HOW THE ELECTRIC MOTOR ASSIST STEERING TOOK THE WHEEL FROM MY HAND AND JOLTED IN ONE DIRECTION OR THE OTHER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. *TR

ON TWO OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN STOPPED AND WAITING TO TURN LEFT ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC ON A FOUR LANE STATE HIGHWAY. THE ENGINE AUTO STOP FEATURE SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. WHEN I LET OF THE BRAKE, THE ENGINE AUTO STARTED AND I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. I HAD NO POWER STEERING AND NEARLY DROVE INTO A DITCH. IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS A DELAY BETWEEN WHEN THE ENGINE AUTO STARTS AND WHEN THE POWER STEERING WORKS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT IS DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL WITHOUT POWER STEERING. ESPECIALLY WHEN CROSSING LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR

I PURCHASED THE USED 2018 FORD F150 PLATINUM AT LITHIA FORD, BOISE ID WITH 15K MILES ON IT. SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT THE FRONT END HAS BEEN HARD TO KEEP ON THE ROAD. I HAVE TAKEN THIS UNIT TO THE DEALER TWICE NOW AND THEY HAVE HAD THE UNIT 40 PLUS DAYS TRYING TO REPAIR THE STEERING ISSUE. THE TRUCK WILL PULL INTO A RIGHT OR LEFT BY ITSELF AND IS VERY UNSAFE AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY VERIFIED THE COMPLAINT AND SAID THE STEERING GEAR WAS THE DEFECT AFTER HAVING THE UNIT 2 WEEKS. THEY REPLACED THE STRG GEAR AND SAID IT WAS REPAIRED. I PICKED THE UNIT UP AND DROVE IT AND IT WAS THE SAME SO I TOOK IT BACK THE NEXT DAY. THEY DROVE IT WITH ME AND AGAIN WE VERIFIED THE COMPLAINT. THE FORD TECHNICAL REP CAME OUT TO THE DEALER AND CHECKED THE TRUCK. HE ALSO VERIFIED THE COMPLAINT THE THEN SAID IT WAS THE TIRES AND WHEELS AND THEY ALL DRIVE LIKE THAT SINCE ITS A PLATINUM MODEL. HE STATED I DRIVE ONE AND IT DOES THE SAME THING. THE TIRES AND WHEELS ARE THE FACTORY OEM PARTS NOTHING HAS BEEN CHANGED OR MODIFIED. THE TRUCK IS UNSAFE AND NOT STABLE. THE SERVICE WRITER DROVE IT FOR A WEEK AND HE CONFIRMED THE DEFECT BUT SAID FORD WILL NOT MAKE ANY MORE REPAIRS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO REPAIR THE ISSUE AND SAID WE WILL CALL YOU IF THEY COME UP WITH SOMETHING. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT DUE TO THE SAFETY CONCERN OF MYSELF AND OTHER PEOPLE ON THE ROADWAYS. ITS DANGEROUS. I HAD ANOTHER 2018 F150 SPORT WITHOUT LANE ASSIST AND IT DROVE FINE. BOTH UNITS WERE PURCHASED FROM THE SAME DEALERSHIP.

THE AUTOMATIC START/STOP FUNCTION TURNS THE TRUCK "OFF" AT A STOP. WHEN WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC AND THE ENGINE HAS TURNED OFF AND THE WHEEL IS ENGAGED IN A TURNING ANGLE, THE POWER STEERING DOES NOT TURN BACK ON AS THE ENGINE TURNS BACK ON. THE RESULT IS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING THROUGH THE TURN PUTTING ME IN MULTIPLE SITUATIONS WHERE I HAVE NO POWER STEERING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC UNTIL IT FINALLY ENGAGES APPROXIMATELY 2 SECONDS LATER. IN MULTIPLE SITUATIONS I HAVE HAD TO USE ALL OF MY STRENGTH TO TURN THE WHEEL AND THE VEHICLE WITHOUT POWER STEERING, OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC AS I AM MAKING A TURN.

THIS CAUSED ME TO DRIVE STRAIGHT ACROSS THE INTERSECTION INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC RATHER THAN MAKING MY PLANNED, IMMEDIATE LEFT TURN. AS THE TRUCK DROVE STRAIGHT RATHER THAN TURNING, AND AS I WAS ATTEMPTING TO FORCE THE WHEEL LEFT WITH BOTH HANDS, SUDDENLY THE STEERING FUNCTION RETURNED TO NORMAL. I NARROWLY AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE UNEXPECTED LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE TRUCK AND CONTACTED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WAS NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL THE FOLLOWING WEEK SO I DROVE THE TRUCK HOME. THE NEXT DAY (SATURDAY) A SERVICE ADVISER FROM THE FORD DEALER CALLED AND ASKED ME TO DROP THE TRUCK OFF THE FOLLOWING MONDAY AFTERNOON. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SINCE THE INITIAL INCIDENT. IN MY OPINION THE ISSUE MAY BE RELATED TO THE IMPROPER FUNCTION OF THE POWER STEERING AFTER THE STOP /START FUNCTION OF THE TRUCK IS ACTIVATED. THERE IS A MEASURABLE LAG BETWEEN THE ENGINE'S RE-START AND THE REACTIVATION OF THE POWER STEERING. THE TRUCK IS ALLOWED TO TRAVEL BEFORE THE POWER STEERING IS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. I FEEL THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED.

THE STEERING WHEEL WANDERS OR DRIFTS SLIGHTLY LEFT OR RIGHT ON ITS OWN REQUIRING EXCESSIVE DRIVER INPUT TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE. IT CAN BE ALARMING IF YOU LOOK DOWN FOR A SECOND TO CHANGE A RADIO STATION OR CHECK A MIRROR AND LOOK BACK FORWARD AND NOTICE YOU ARE DRIFTING INTO ANOTHER LANE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING INTERMITTENTLY. WHILE TURNING THE VEHICLE AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE POWER STEERING FAILED IN MID TURN AND THE VEHICLE DROVE INTO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF TRAFFIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED PHONE NUMBERS TO DEALERS TO HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. WAS DRIVING BACK TO MY OFFICE AND ON THE ON RAMP FROM A HIGHWAY TO INTERSTATE 95 SOUTH. I EASED LEFT TO MERGE ONTO THE INTERSTATE GOING ABOUT 45MPH AND INCREASING SPEED WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL PULLED LEFT QUICKLY ON ITS OWN POWER AND STEERED US HEAD ON TOWARDS THE METAL GUARD RAIL IN THE CENTER MEDIAN. I TRIED TO PULL RIGHT BUT THERE WAS RESISTANCE. I NOTICED AN 'UPHIL DECENT FAULT' ON MY DASH JUST BEFORE MY TRUCK STRUCK THE GUARD RAIL. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO LAST SECOND PULL THE VEHICLE RIGHT ENOUGH WHERE IT WASN'T A FULL HEAD ON COLLISION AND MY EMPLOYEE IN THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS JUST SORE AFTER THE FACT. I AM CURRENTLY UNDERGOING MEDICAL TESTS FOR BACK, NECK AND SHOULDER NUMBNESS AS WELL AS TENSION HEADACHES . NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED! FORD SAID ONCE THE BODY IS FIXED WHERE THEY CAN RUN TESTS THEY WILL SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE, BUT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. IT LITERALLY TRIED TO KILL US. THERE WAS ALSO A 'SERVICE ADVANCETRACK' LIGHT ON THE DASH. I PREVIOUSLY HAD THOSE FAULTS AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A WHEEL BEARING THAT THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE. SOMETHING IS GOING ON WITH THESE VEHICLES.
STARTED TO PULL THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL INTERSECTION AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN. THE TRUCK COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AFTER MOVING ABOUT 5 FEET PULLING INTO THE INTERSECTION. A MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE DASH SCREEN ABOUT AUTO STARTSTOP AND THAT I NEEDED TO PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND RESTART IT. THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. I SLOWLY ROLLED TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET, PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTARTED. THERE WERE NO MORE ISSUES ON THE REMAINING 25 MILE DRIVE. THE AUTOSTOP FEATURE HAD BEEN DISABLED VIA THE DASH SWITCH BEFORE EVER LEAVING HOME. THE SWITCH WAS STILL ILLUMINATED AMBER SHOWING THAT AUTOSTOP HAD IN FACT BEEN TURNED OFF MANUALLY BEFORE IT HAPPENED ON ITS OWN, WHILE UNDER POWER. WITH THE ENGINE NOT RUNNING, THE POWER STEERING IS ALSO DISABLED. AFTER A BIT OF INVESTIGATION, I HAVE FOUND VIA ONLINE TRUCK DEDICATED FORUMS THAT I AM NOT ALONE AND THIS HAS HAPPENED TO NUMEROUS PEOPLE WITH F150'S SINCE 2015. THE PICTURE THAT I AM ATTACHING IS NOT MY OWN, BUT IS THE SAME MESSAGE THAT WAS GENERATED TO ME THIS MORNING. THIS PICTURE IS FROM ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL THAT THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO AND REPORTED IN THE ABOVE MENTIONED FORUMS. AUTOSTOP INITIATION OF ITS OWN ACCORD WHILE UNDERWAY COULD HAVE DIRE CONSEQUENCES IF PULLING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THROUGH A BUSY INTERSECTION OR SIMPLY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.

FORD AUTOMATIC ENGINE OFF AT IDLE FEATURE CAUSES POWER STEERING FAILURE WHEN ACTIVE. WHEN ENGINE REACTIVATED UPON HITTING GAS THE POWER STEERING IS DELAYED. THIS IS A PROBLEM WHEN WAITING AT STOPLIGHTS FOR A TURN., ESPECIALLY A LEFT TURN INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. REQUESTS TO FORD TO ALLOW DEACTIVATION OF THE FEATURE AS OPPOSED TO HAVING TO MANUALLY DISABLE IT EVERY TIME I ENTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IGNORED. THIS FEATURE CAN BE DANGEROUS AND THERE IS NO REASON FORD CAN'T REPROGRAM THE BYPASS. INSTEAD THEY CHOOSE TO IGNORE WHILE ALLOWING THIS DANGEROUS FEATURE TO REMAIN ACTIVE BY DEFAULT.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 10, MY TRANSMISSION ABRUPTLY DOWNSHIFTED TO 1 AT ~55 MPH!! THIS WAS THE WORST OF SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THE TRANSMISSION EITHER FAILING TO SHIFT PROPERLY OR JERKING THE VEHICLE WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. I'VE ALSO HAD THE VEHICLE STUCK IN 2ND GEAR WHILE TRYING TO ENTER THE FREEWAY. THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOW NO CONCERN AS THEY RELY ON SERVICE CODES INSTEAD OF ROAD TESTS AND CUSTOMER INPUT. I HOPE I'M ABLE TO GET ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM A MANUFACTURER I CAN TRUST. IT'S UNFORTUNATE BECAUSE I HAVE OWNED FORD F-150S FOR THE PAST 6 YEARS AND DRIVEN THEM SINCE HIGH SCHOOL. THIS NEW 10-SPEED TRANSMISSION SHOULD'VE NEVER BEEN RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC. I SEE OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE SO HOPEFULLY A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IS SOON TO FOLLOW!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. WHEN APPROACHING A STOP OR MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT CRACKED HIS ELBOW WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE MORE FORCE THAN USUAL TO TURN AND STEER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO OTHER UNKNOWN DEALERS AND SERVICED FIVE TIMES, BUT EACH REPAIR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO ASTROG FORD (2028 7TH ST, PARKERSBURG, WV 26101, (304) 485-8585) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT WAS "THE NATURE OF THE TRUCK AND THEY SHOULD DEAL WITH IT". THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,329.

MY 2018 F150 RAPTOR HAS A VAGUE STEERING FEEL AND OCCASIONALLY THE TRUCK WILL AUTO OVER CORRECT THE STEERING WHEN TRYING TO COMPENSATE FOR WIND AND WEATHER. THE ALIGNMENT HAS BEEN CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES BY BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND INDEPENDENT SHOPS AND VERIFIED AS CORRECT. THE STEERING WHEN CENTER WILL OCCASIONALLY DRIFT TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER, ALSO HAPPENS WHEN CORNERING. IT FEELS AS THOUGH IT'S CONSTANTLY WINDY WHEN DRIVING, EVEN WHEN THERE IS CALM WEATHER. I'VE HAD THE TRUCK INSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND THEY HAVE CONTACTED FORD DIRECT WHO HAS REPLIED THE TRUCK IS BEHAVING NORMALLY.

THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES NOW FOR A SMALL GRINDING NOISE AND HARD STEERING. THE ORIGINAL THOUGHT WAS THE TRANSMISSION MODULE. AFTER A 1 MONTH BACKORDER ON THE PART, THE GRINDING NOISE WENT AWAY, BUT THE STEERING STILL FELT STIFF. IT WAS AS IF THE STEERING WHEEL WAS FIGHTING ME TO GO BACK TO CENTER. WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT, THE TRUCK LUNGES LEFT OR RIGHT DEPENDING ON THE MOST PREVIOUS TURN I PERFORMED. THE REAR END JUTS COMING OUT OF 4TH GEAR AS IF THE TRANSMISSION HAS NO CLUE WHAT GEAR IT SHOULD BE IN AROUND 30 MPH. IT IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST WHEN THE ENGINE ON/OFF SYSTEM IS ENGAGED. COMING OUT OF A STOP, IT IS LIKE THERE IS ZERO POWER STEERING. I FEEL LIKE THIS SHOULD BE A FLUID RESPONSE (FOOT OFF BRAKE ONTO ACCELERATOR, TURN WHEEL, AND ENJOY THE RIDE). WHAT YOU FEEL INSTEAD IS LIKE TRYING TO TWIST YOUR ULNA AND RADIUS BONES 360 DEGREES ON AXIS - THE TRUCK DOESN'T LIKE IT. BOTTOM LINE IS THE TRUCK FEELS DANGEROUS. I PERSONALLY DO NOT WANT TO BE ONE OF THE UNFORTUNATE STATISTICS SEEMINGLY NECESSARY TO START A RECALL. I WANT FORD MOTOR CO TO SEE ALL THE COMPLAINTS AND MAN TO FIX AN OBVIOUSLY FLAWED SYSTEM.

THEY SAID THEY WILL CONTINUE TO LOOK AT IT, BUT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN REALLY BE DONE TO ADDRESS IT. FORD CASE NUMBER CAS-16915256

AUTO START/STOP CREATES A HAZARD WHILE TURNING. FOR EXAMPLE, WHILE TURNING LEFT AT A CONTROLLED INTERSECTION AND WAITING FOR ONCOMING TRAFFIC, TRUCK SHUTS OFF. UPON RESTART, THERE IS NOTICEABLE LAG IN POWER STEERING WHICH EFFECT THE ABILITY TO TURN. NO ABILITY TO TURN AUTO STOP/START OFF PERMANENTLY WITHOUT VOIDING WARRANTY. CRASH STATS PROVE LEFT TURNING MOVEMENTS AT INTERSECTIONS CARRY SIGNIFICANTLY HIGH RISK. ADDITIONAL UNPREDICTABLE STEERING BEHAVIOR INCREASES ALREADY HIGH RISK. I FEEL THE SYSTEM IS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. POWER STEERING IS NOT INSTANT UPON START UP AND AUTO START/STOP FUNCTIONS SMOOTHLY UNLESS WAITING TO TURN.

TRUCK INSTANTLY PULLS TO THE RIGHT, WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS STRAIGHT, THE TRUCK DRIVES IMMEDIATELY TO THE LEFT, THE STEERING WHEEL BINDS AND WILL DRIVE ITSELF TO THE LEFT, IMPULSES IN THE STEERING WHEEL. TRUCK HUS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES FOR STEERING DEFECT. DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED STEERING GEAR, 2 ALIGNMENTS, BALANCED ROTATED TIRES, ADJUST AIR PRESSURE. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT I AM WASTING THEIR TIME ON "WARRANTY WORK" THIS TRUCK IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, FORD IS REFUSING TO COMPLY TO MY WARRANTY, AND FORD CORPORATE WILL NOT DO A MANUFACTURER BUY BACK. FORD WILL NOT GIVE REASONS FOR NOT DOING BUYBACK. FORD SAYS THIS INFORMATION IS "INTERNAL THING". THIS TRUCK IS A DANGER TO ME, MY KIDS, AND EVERYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED THE STOP/START TECHNOLOGY DISABLES THE ABILITY TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. WHEN IT'S TIME TO ACCELERATE AND TURN QUICKLY THE POWER STEERING DOES NOT BECOME AVAILABLE FOR FOR SOME TIME. I HAVE BEEN CLOSE TO CRASHING SEVERAL TIMES AND HIT A CURB ON ONE OCCASION AS A RESULT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO STEER. THE DEALER TOLD ME AT THE LAST VISIT THIS IS NORMAL BECAUSE OF THE STOP START TECHNOLOGY AND I JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE POWER STEERING TO BECOME AVAILABLE WHEN THE ENGINE STARTS. THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE WHEN MAKING A TURN INTO TRAFFIC SINCE SOMETIMES THIS NEEDS TO BE A SIMULTANEOUS ACTION OF ACCELERATING AND TURNING AT THE SAME TIME.
Mileage: 3,000
THE STEERING CONSTANTLY PULLS TO THE LEFT AND PULLS TO THE RIGHT. THE STEERING HAS IMPULSES THAT ARE FELT IN THE STEERING DURING NORMAL DRIVING. THE STEERING WHEEL OSCILLATES AND ATTEMPTS TO MAKE STEERING CORRECTIONS AT ANY SPEED. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL REMAIN TURNED IN ONE DIRECTION. FOR EXAMPLE, DRIVING THROUGH A CURVE GOING LEFT, HANDS CAN BE REMOVED FROM STEERING WHEEL AND STEERING WHEEL WILL LOCK ITSELF IN POSITION AND STAY TURNING LEFT. THE DYSFUNCTIONAL STEERING DROVE ME OFF OF A 2 LANE ROAD AT 55MPH. THE POOR STEERING OF THIS VEHICLE CREATES AN UNSAFE AND NOT ROAD WORTHY VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION CAN NOT DECIDE WHICH GEAR TO BE IN CREATING PAUSES OF POWER DISTRIBUTION TO THE REAR WHEELS. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD AND PULLS THE VEHICLE BACK AND FORTH CREATING LOUD CLUNKING NOISES AND RATTLING THE PASSENGERS. THE POOR OPERATION OF THE TRANSMISSION CREATES UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS.

THIS TRUCK COMES STANDARD WITH AUTO START STOP TECHNOLOGY. WHEN THE AUTO STOP TURNS OFF THE ENGINE IT ALSO TURNS OFF THE POWER STEERING. WHEN YOU LET OFF THE BRAKE THE ENGINE STARTS AND THE POWER STEERING SHOULD START WORKING IMMEDIATELY. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE POWER STEERING HAS NOT COME BACK TO FULL ASSIST. IT TOOK 3-5 SECONDS TO START FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. IN MY CASE EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED I WAS STOPPED AND MAKING A LEFT ACROSS TRAFFIC. WHEN I ACCELERATED I DID NOT HAVE POWER STEERING TO MAKE THE TURN. I TOOK ALL MY STRENGTH TO MAKE THE TURN WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I AM NOW ABLE TO RECREATE THIS PROBLEM ON A CONSISTENT BASIS NOW. IF I APPLY PRESSURE TO THE WHEEL WHILE THE ENGINE IS OFF AND LET THE ENGINE START IT DOES NOT HAVE FULL POWER STEERING. IF I KEEP MY HANDS OFF THE WHEEL AND WAIT A SECOND BEFORE TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL IT WORKS FINE. I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER TO ADDRESS IT AND THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL OPERATION. THAT DOES NOT SOUND RIGHT TO ME. THEY SUGGESTED TURNING OFF THE AUTO START STOP. THAT DEFAULTS TO ON EVERY TIME YOU START THE TRUCK. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I AM A BIG GUY AND IT TOOK ALL MY STRENGTH TO TURN. I DOUBT SMALLER PEOPLE WOULD BE ABLE TO HANDLE IT. I WILL NOT LET MY WIFE DRIVE THE TRUCK BECAUSE OF IT. THE TRUCK IS NEW. IT IS 3 MONTHS OLD AND 3K MILES.

I PURCHASED A USED 2018 F-150 WITH APPROXIMATELY 16,000 MILES ON 10/17/2018. WHEN IN MOTION, STEERING INTERMITTENTLY WANDERS, OFTEN DRIFTS OR PULLS LEFT AND RIGHT, AND REQUIRES A MORE THAN REASONABLE EFFORT TO KEEP IN LANE. ON FIRST TRIP TO THE DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM (WEST HERR FORD IN HAMBURG, NY), WAS TOLD THAT ALIGNMENT WAS GOOD, AND MAYBE TIRES WERE BAD - THEY SWITCHED THE 2 FRONT TIRES, AND PROBLEM PERSISTED. WENT BACK TO WEST HERR FORD LESS THAN 3,000 MILES LATER FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, AND WAS TOLD ALIGNMENT WAS BARELY IN SPEC. THEY ALIGNED, AND CLAIMED TO HAVE ADDRESSED THE ISSUE. THE STEERING STILL INTERMITTENTLY PULLS, WANDERS, AND DANGEROUSLY FAILS TO TRAVEL STRAIGHT WITHOUT CONSTANT CORRECTION.

VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH AUTO STOP START FEATURE. WHEN ENGINE SHUTS OFF THE ELECTRICALLY OPERATED POWER STEERING ALSO SHUTS OFF. RELEASING THE BRAKE PEDAL RESTARTS ENGINE BUT POWER STEERING DOES NOT RETURN FOR APPROXIMATELY 1-2 SECONDS. I'VE OWNED THIS TRUCK SINCE NEW. I CURRENTLY HAVE A LITTLE OVER 700 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THREE TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE I HAVE BEEN MAKING A LEFT TURN FROM A BUSY HIGHWAY ONTO A SECONDARY ROAD AND THE STOP START FEATURE HAS ENGAGED. I MAKE THE DECISION TO TURN AND GO BUT THE TRUCK HAS NO POWER STEERING AND I AM MOVING FORWARD. THE VEHICLE IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER WITHOUT POWER STEERING.THERE IS A BUTTON ON THE DASH TO DISABLE THE SYSTEM BUT THE DEFAULT IS TO TURN THE SYSTEM ON EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. I AM FEARFUL THAT IF MY WIFE OR OTHER PERSON NOT INTIMATELY FAMILIAR WITH HOW THE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO OPERATE WILL BE PUT AT EXTREME RISK. IN MY OPINION THIS IS AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE DESIGN AND SHOULD BE REMOVED OR REDESIGNED TO ENABLE THE POWER STEERING TO OPERATE ANY TIME THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION IN THE "ON" POSITION.

I BOUGHT THIS 2018 F150 LARIAT NEW, ON TEST DRIVE I NOTICED VEHICLE DID A LOT OF WEAVING TO THE POINT I ASKED SALESMAN TO DRIVE IT BACK AND VERIFY IF STEERED LIKE HIS 2017 WHICH HE DID. THIS VEHICLE DRIFTS ALL OVER THE ROAD AND FEELS LIKE IT IS GETTING OVER RUN WITH ELECTRICAL IMPULSES IN THE STEERING CAUSING IT TO DRIFT LEFT AND RIGHT CONSTANTLY AND AT IT'S WILL, IF YOU LOOK DOWN TO ADJUST THE HEATER CONTROLS IT WILL BE ACROSS THE CENTERLINE OR OFF THE SHOULDER IMMEDIATELY, AND THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT HIS FROM OWNERS. MY DEALERSHIP HAS ALIGNED THE FRONT END AND IT IS CORRECT, THE BEST WE CAN TELL IT IS IN THE ELECTRIC STEERING, AND NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH LANE ASSIST WHICH IS NEVER TURNED ON, IT HAS TO DO WITH THE EPAS AND THE DRIFTT CONTROL/CROWN IN THE ROAD CONDITIONS. IT FEELS LIKE THIS SYSTEM IS CONSTANTLY CREATING ROAD CONDITIONS IN IT'S MIND AND WORKING THE STEERING TO CORRECT FOR WHAT IS NOT THERE. FORD HAS AN ALGORITHM BUILT IN AND IT IS NOT WORKING AND NEEDS TO BE TURNED OFF IMMEDIATELY AND CORRECT THIS STEERING ISSUE. TO TELL YOU HOW BAD IT IS PASSING 3 CARS THE OTHER DAY AT 70MPH CROSSING INTO THE PASSING LANE THE TRUCK HAD SOME KIND OF HICCUP AND THE STEERING STEERED HARD RIGHT AND I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, IT ALMOST SNAPPED THE TRUCK SIDEWAYS, NOBODY WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THIS. GOING DOWN THE ROAD SLOWLY ON A FLAT SURFACE YOU CAN FEEL THE IMPULSES OR THE STEERING WHEEL/TIRES OSCILLATING EVER SO SLIGHTLY BACK AND FORTH, HOOK A TRAILER TO THIS TRUCK AND YOU HAVE A SWAYING BEAST ON YOUR HANDS. THIS STEERING SYSTEM IS VERY DANGEROUS, NOT 100% SURE WHAT IS GOING ON BUT IT DRIFTS CONSTANTLY BACK AND FORTH, NOBODY WANTS TO DRIVE THIS TRUCK, YOU START TO PASS YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT OUT OF THE STEERING, DEALERSHIP IS READY TO HELP BUT FORD KNOWS IT IS A PROBLEM WITH ALOT OF THEIR 2018'S, WAITING ON FORD FOR A FIX!

THE 2018 F-150 TRUCK WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW AND AFTER APPROXIMATELY 800 MILES THE TRUCK'S STEERING STARTED TO PULL TO THE LEFT AND THEN TO THE RIGHT. THE DIRECTION OF STEERING PULL SEEMS TO SWITCH DEPENDING ON THE LAST TURN MADE OR THE DIRECTION OF THE TRUCKS BODY ROLL, BUT ALSO CHANGES DIRECTION RANDOMLY. THE STEERING WHEEL NEEDS CONSTANT INPUT FROM THE DRIVER IN ORDER TO DRIVE STRAIGHT OR ELSE THE TRUCK WILL BE IN THE OTHER LANE OR OFF THE ROAD. THIS ISSUE HAPPENS ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF 65 MPH AND ALSO ON LOCAL ROADS AT SPEEDS OF 25 MPH. THE ROAD COULD BE STRAIGHT OR CURVED AND THE STEERING WILL CONSTANTLY PULL THE VEHICLE LEFT OR RIGHT AND SEEMS TO PERIODICALLY SWITCH DIRECTIONS. FORD MOTOR CO. HAS BEEN NOTICED MULTIPLE TIMES AND REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. THREE DIFFERENT CERTIFIED FORD TECH, AT TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS, HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE AND SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT ADMIT THERE IS AN ISSUE OR EVEN ATTEMPT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. FORD MOTOR CO. CLAIMS ALL OF THEIR 2018 F-150 DRIVE THIS WAY. THEIR ADVICE TO ME WAS "KEEP YOUR HANDS ON THE WHEEL AND THE TRUCK WILL GO STRAIGHT". OF COURSE IF DRIVER FIGHTS THE STEERING WHEEL PULLING LEFT AND RIGHT CONSTANTLY, THE TRUCK WILL GO STRAIGHT. THE DRIVER OBVIOUSLY WILL TRY TO KEEP THE TRUCK IN IT'S LANE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. IF WHAT FORD MOTOR CO. CLAIMS IS TRUE, THAT ALL THEIR 2018 F-150 DRIVE THIS WAY, THEN THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. FORD MOTOR CO. SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED WITH HOW THE COMPANY TREATS THEIR CUSTOMERS AND ALSO SHOULD BE CONCERNED WITH HAZZARDOUS VEHICLES THEY ARE PUTTING ON THE ROADS. BUYER BE AWARE!
