Tailgate latch fails and the gate opens while driving. This happened to me and I lost part of my load on the road causing a dangerous situation to other vehicles I can also lose valuable items or they could get damaged. I notified the dealership about this on two occasions and was told that there was no recall on the 2018 but other years were covered .
Door Latch Freezing during cold winter months(every year) where temperatures drop below 32°F even after Ford Recall done on both front door latches. Inability to open door, then after door opened there is an Inability for door to latch until it warmed up.
Pant is flaking off roof and tail gate in 1/8 to 1/4 inch pieces. Offord white paint. Clearly a manufacturing defect . 2018 F150 has approx. 27,000 miles on it, Filed a claim with ford dealer Gosch in Murrieta Ca 92563.
The doors do not close when cold i have to use the seatbelt to rap around doors to keep them shut. I have brought to ford multiple times no fix. The transmission erratically shifts through multiple gears and downshifts into low gears when at high rate of speed. Which i have been told is due to a faulty cdf drum in transmission that ford wont take responsibility for. It is a very dangerous vehicle
Door latching system is often inoperable when temperatures are below freezing. The door will not latch and must be held close while driving. Vehicle has been repaired once by dealer per bulletin 18N03 but the problem persists.
The doors do not properly latch in cold weather. Yes available for inspection. The door came open while we driving down the road. The dash light came on indicating door was ajar. Door was not able to be closed after repeated attempts of closing. Passenger has to hold the door closed. Same occurrence happened to the driver side door and it would not latch so the vehicle couldn’t be used that day otherwise driver would have to hold door closed.

Rear doors get frozen and will not latch to stay shut. My daughter almost flew out of the vehicle when we went around a corner. I literally had to turn the heat on high hood the door closed for 30 minutes to get it warm enough to latch and stay shut. This is usually following a car wash within a 7 day span. I am not sure how there cannot be a recall for this. Everyone that I know with an F150 has had the same issues.
At cold temperatures driver side door will not latch.
Driver door cable sticking open when low temps occur. Driver door does not latch until vehicle is locked or key is inserted into door and manually positioned or key fob is used to lock the vehicle.

THE PASSENGER BACK DOOR LATCH, SOMETIMES WHEN THE DOOR CLOSES IT SAYS REAR RIGHT DOOR AJAR. IT TAKES A FEW TIMES TO OPEN AND CLOSE IT FOR THE LIGHT TO GO OFF.. NOONE'S SAFETY HAS BEEN PUT AT RISK YET DOOR STILL LOCKS BUT COULD BECOME UNSAFE OVER TIME. THE VEHICLES HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY MANUFACTURER OR INSURANCE OR OTHERS YET. THE DOOR LIGHT COMES ON IF DOOR IS NOT CLOSED PROPERLY AND WILL STAY ON SOMETIMES.
The door latches was not latching in cold weather until they are warmed up and then they latch. It is a safety thing for me and my kids and wife.
Took my vehicle to ford dealership to have leaking sunroof checked, had it repaired for broken track, but the amazing things was the price that ford charge me for the repair of the sunroof track which was $5507.49, wasn’t really told why it cost me so much being that it’s a 2018. I do have the receipt, and has been trying to find a lawyer to try and recover some of my losses. Please let me know what I should do about this repair
Tailgate keeps falling down while traveling down the road. This has happened several times. This time after it hit the trailer after backing it up at the end of the trip.
The tailgate on my truck has opened while driving down the road. This has happened several times since I have owned the truck. There are several recalls for 2018 F 150 tailgate issues. I have taken it to the Ford dealer, but was told there is no recall on trucks in my VIN range.
Door lock freezing recall, still freezes. After performing this recall for my door latches freezing, they still freeze. Once I get them open, the door will not latch shut and I would have to drive while holding the door shut until it unfreezes. Forums verify that I am not the only one with doors still freezing after recall. I am confident the recall was performed correctly, but fords fix is not a proper fix and I am still left with frozen door latches in an unsafe vehicle.
The hood latch has failed on my ford F-150. My security system alarms when it happens. It has happened while I have driven and during times when there are changes in temperature. When searching for this, I came across a number of others that have had similar issues with their ford F150/ F250s and Expeditions. I am surprised ford has not recalled it due safety hazard of a failing hood latch. Additionally the main horn has failed. Again searching has found that other people with similar models and years from ford have the same issue with the horn. Both are safety concerns.
when the temp outside is below freezing the driver-side door will not latch shut and the doors will not lock.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, the contact became aware that the driver's and passenger's doors had failed to latch securely. The door ajar warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the door check arm attachment point. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 42,000. The VIN was unavailable.

Passenger door actuator would not reingange the door after opening. Temperature was around 15 Farenheit for awhile. Door opened with some effort, but would not latch back. If vehicle was in motion door would need to be held to prevent opening. The vehicle could be locked for the door to stay in place, but it would not sit flush with the body of the vehicle.
Tailgate actuator sometimes does not open completely. Pressin the button engages the operation, I can hear it trying to unlatch, but the tailgate does not completely release. If the tailgate is not in use for awhile, opens as intended for few times.
Doors keep freezing and they won't stay shut when you drive if it gets below 25 degrees
This is the 6th winter I have had my truck. Every winter, the door locks freeze to the point the doors won't close. I have called ford, they have replaced the door locks. The problem still persists. I went to warm them up with a torch today to get them working again. I left and once again the door flew open under braking. I have called ford on this, they need to fix it before something really bad happens. This has happened at least once every winter. I am afraid to drive the thing when it freezes for fear of the doors flying open. the only warning lamp happens once the door is open. It won't go into gear. That's great and all but it doesn't let me know when the door may be compromised due to freezing. The dealer and ford have both confirmed this a known problem. I believe there was even a recall. They replaced all my door locks. The problem still persists. I believe this is a huge safety risk. Alls it take is for one person not wearing their seatbelt to make a right hand turn. If the door swings open, they very well could fall out and possibly get run over and even worse send a 5,000 pound unmanned vehicle into who knows what.
Frozen door latches. When its cold and you open the door, then close the door it does not latch.
The vehicle as of 12/9/2023 at 3:19pm CST is at a mileage of 79,523. Around the time we bought out the lease on our truck in April 2021, we reported to the dealership that the tailgate latch on occasion would not latch. They did a repair for it, but it has happened a few times since. We saw a recall notice for other Ford F-150 models from 2018 that had issues with latches/linkages/locks on the tailgate where the tailgate would become unlatched like ours.
The vehicle as of 12/9/2023 at 3:27pm CST is at a mileage of 79,528. We reported to the dealership in April 2021 and services prior to April 2021 that the sunroof would randomly become misaligned with the sunroof track when opening. There will be excessive noise coming from the sunroof when it’s misaligned. We are concerned that there might be a larger problem with potential exposed areas/leaks when that is misaligned. We feel strongly that it is either the alignment (misalignment) of the panels, an issue with the track, or an issue with the brackets. It was brought into the dealership, and they said they fixed it, but it continues to happen.
Once the temperature drops below freezing, the door latches will quit working. If I open the door then it will not latch when I try to close the door. This has happened every winter since i have owned the truck. I have taken it into the dealer multiple times for this issue. I believe they even replaced the door latches on one of the occasions but now that it is winter again this year they are not latching when I close the door. This has happened on the front and rear door latches. There must be an issue inherent with the design if they did replace the latches and I'm still having trouble. I believe they need to look at a redesign.

The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the VIN was not under warranty for the failure. The twin panel sunroof has water leaks threw the factory installed rivets on the rail causing electrical shortages and which can lead to a fire hazard water and electrical do not mix ford needs to redesign these sunroof rails to prevent water from seeping threw the cracks of the factory installed rivets
Any time that temps fall below freezing one or multiple doors may fail to re latch shut after opening. I am worried that if that is the case then if they do latch shut could they fail and the door re open mid drive anyways? Seems to me this is a very common ford issue starting back in 2015 but a recall has not been issued, only a customer service thing where they "fix" the issue with more people then not stating that the "fix" does not fix it at all
All doors have this issue during cold weather. The doors fail to latch or the doors fail to open. When the doors fail to latch I close the door thinking it is safely closed; however, the door latch fails to engage allowing the door to open while driving. This happened while a child was in the back seat and caused a very distressing hazard. I had to tie the door shut with a bungee cord. Other time the door latch will fail to disengage when operating the door handle both interior and exterior door handles. This is also very dangerous because it effectively lock a person in the vehicle preventing escape for any peril. I have learned that NHTSA already recalled this issue for 2015 to 2017 models and it appears that Ford has stuck their middle finger at NHTSA because they continue to use the faulty equipment. Much of what I have read about the fix for the 2015-2017 recall is that the fix prescribed by Ford failed to correct the problem. This is a major safety hazard that deserves your immediate attention before people die from this manufacturer defect. Please do the right thing and force this manufacturer to do the right thing and create a fix that actually corrects the problem.
3 out of 4 doors locks do not work. If you search recalls for 2015 - 2017 Ford F150's, it is doing the same thing.
Driver door swung open while driving and then would not stay latched. Door frequently will not latch.
Drivers side door will not latch closed AND OPEN WHILE DRIVING
In freezing weather, the door latches freeze and the door cannot be closed. There is a recall for this issue, #19N06 however it does not work. I had the recall performed then a week later when the weather changed, I am unable to close my door. This is a major safety issue because the driver has to hold the door or strap the door shut while driving and there is also the risk of it not being truly latched and swinging open while moving. Ford provides the one time recall however, in my case this seems to do nothing. I have had the vehicle in to Ford and they claim this is all the recall does to fix it and the rest of the time/labor they spend will be out of my pocket. There are no indicator lights prior to failure, it is strictly due to below freezing weather.
The rear passenger side door did not latch. My 6 month old son could have fell out because his car seat is on that side. Luckily I noticed it when I was backing out of the driveway and not on the expressway. I pulled back into the drive way and tried to shut the door about 30 times. It would not shut. All the other doors worked fine. The only way to keep the door shut was to hold the door shut and lock the truck. After I did that my door would not unlock. It tried doing it manually but it was stuck in the lock position. It seems something is wrong with the door latch and I am glad that I caught it or my baby could have gotten hurt. The door latches in the truck have to be looked at. I just bought this truck from a dealership last week too.

After loading groceries into the rear seats, I shut the passenger door and thought it was latched. I started to drive off and the door came open. I spent 20 mins trying to get it to latch and although I could move the door latch mechanism with my fingers, the door would not latch and remain shut. I ended up tying the door shut in order to drive home 7 miles.
We were driving and another car told us our tailgate was down. We did not put anything into the truck before we started our drive and no buttons were pushed. The tailgate went back up without incident, however there was also no indication from inside the truck that the tailgate was down.
The truck was sitting in the driveway and out of nowhere the alarm went off. Go out to inspect and the vehicle is showing that the driver and left back door are not closed. The driver side door will not latch it opened up out of nowhere and will not latch. Apparently this issue is know with Ford trucks when it gets too cold. This is a safety issue because the door will just open while driving.
Drivers door fails to latch, appears to be similar to Freezing issue on NHTSA Recall ID: 17V652000.
Vehicle had electrical issues - Diagnosis by dealership was water damage to the Body Control Module. This module is inside the cabin on the front passenger area by their feet/legs. The issues included - flashers goin off, horn going off, truck bed gate dropping open - while parked and while driving down highway, and entire vehicle just shutting down while ALL of the issues happened at once. People have been put at risk by the gate dropping and the immediate shut down of an operating vehicle. The dealer was able to reproduce the problem. I had it happen twice. I have since identified that it is something that is a known issue on F150 forums. So much so that the likely cause of the water damage has been identified, and forwarded to the manufacturer. They are not fixing the issue. Manufacturer's dealership technician identified the water damage as the root cause. Required a replacement Body Control Module. Possible warning signs: Noted by myself and others. Emergency flashers randomly going off. Power drain on batteries. Horn going off randomly. Root cause: Unsealed seam between body panels under the hood in the engine bay. Leaking water falls on firewall and then onto the Body Control Module electrical component. The driver's door freezes, so once the door is opened it will not latch closed until the door is warmed up. Additionally, the door can catch when closed, but if any pressure is put on the door, it pops open because the latch or mechanism is frozen and will not function properly. This has happened multiple times now, and Ford has stated that we don't live in a 'cold' climate region, so the can not get the cold weather 'repair' to fix this issue. I believe this is a significant safety issue, I can't drive the vehicle until the weather warms up so the door latch will work again.
Tailgate opens while driving and has occurred many times.
This F150 developed an annoying whistling wind noise at around 50MPH and higher. I cannot be sure but I think it's originating from the windshield area. Owned this vehicle since new and now has 22,000 miles.
Condensation from evaporator drain is leaking into cab, which has created mold, exposing myself and any passengers riding in my vehicle including my kids. Ford issued TSB 19-2345 to fix this issue but it does not work and they are not willing to replace the molded carpet under a field service action. This is a known design flaw that should be fixed as soon as possible to prevent mold growth. If mold is found, carpet should be replaced immediately due to the health hazards associated with mold in an enclosed vehicle. Ford should be held liable to fix these issues without any charge to the customer.
In freezing/wintertime conditions drive side door latch freezes open and the door will not remain closed while driving. Problem remains until the truck warms up. Previous recall to fix issue did not resolve the problem. Dealer has no current fix for the problem other than to tell me it’s a known issue.
Doors won't latch in below freezing temperatures even after recall preformed in February 2021. Dealer says there's nothing to be done at this point since the recall has already been preformed. The majority of the time when the temperatures drop below freezing you must drive holding doors closed till it will eventually latch. On several occasions the passenger rear door appeared to latch correctly only to swing open when i make a turn. This has happened with my child in their car seat in the passenger rear area. I have AC condensation leaking into passenger side floor. I pulled the carpet and there is mold all over. I’m concerned about the mold health hazard to my two young kids and myself.
Continuing issue with the door latches freezing. 20deg weather truck sat all day in car port. Opened driver door and would not latch closed. Lock would not operate. Had to drive holding the door shut. Finally got home and repeatedly worked lock plunger to get in lock position. Door then latched and then would NOT open. Next day heated door latch thru side hole with heat gun to get to work. After sitting 2 hrs again could not get door to latch closed. Drove holding door closed. If lock will move door will latch but then can not be opened from inside or outside. Truck has had two recalls have been completed to fix issue. Still having major issue. In Midwest area.
The tailgate has opened while driving. The tailgate has opened while parked. The tailgate malfunction appears to trigger the alarm system as the horn and lights flash. The horn and lights are completely random. Even if the tailgate is left down, truck unlocked, and the engine is off the horn will “blow” randomly and / or the exterior lights will flash. All completely random. However the main safety concern is the tailgate opening while driving. I have appointment with dealership.

Tailgate opens on its own at highway speeds which could result in contents of pickup bed being ejected onto roadway or following vehicles. This was the subject of a prior recall and the repair was completed, however the problem has reoccurred twice recently.
The door latches on the F-150 become frozen when temperatures drop below freezing. There is no Manual maneuvers you can do to get the door to latch close once it is open. Thus, once the drivers side door is opened for the driver to get in on a freezing morning, the door will not latch close. This causes me to drive down the road with an open door, holding it closed while I make turns down the windy road. It is not until the vehicle and the latch thaw a bit will it secure itself closed.
Driver door latch fails to latch when it get cold outside. I was able to manually move the latch by sticking finger in latch mechanism to make it work. Drove and parked for 3 hours. Came out and door would not latch again. Seems like this is very common with no known fix according to traffic on the web. Ford is unwilling to fix.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a transmission recall repair. While at the dealer, the sunroof was inspected. When the dealer attempted to open the sunroof, one of the brackets fractured and detached from the sunroof. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall, and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. 2018 F-150 PANORAMIC SUNROOF TRACKS AND MOTORS BROKE AND STUCK OPEN POSITION. WAS DRIVING AND WITH FUMES FROM OTHER CARS ENTERING MY VEHICLE FROM OPEN ROOF AND INABILITY TO CLOSE, I WAS GETTING LIGHTHEADED AND ALMOST PASSED OUT FROM EXHAUST FUMES SITTING IN TRAFFIC.

AFTER ENTERING THE TRUCK, I CLOSED THE DOOR, PUT ON MY SEAT BELT, STARTED THE ENGINE AND PUT THE TRUCK INTO FORWARD GEAR. I NOTICED THE "DRIVER DOOR AJAR" ALERT AND TRIED TO CLOSE IT AGAIN. THE LATCH DID NOT ENGAGE AT ALL. THE TEMPERATURE WAS A LITTLE BELOW FREEZING, MAYBE 25 DEGREES F. I LET THE TRUCK WARM UP, PLAYED WITH THE ELECTRONIC LOCKING BUTTONS AND AFTER 10 MINUTES OR SO, I GOT THE LATCH TO WORK. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN THE NEXT DAY AND EVEN USING A TORCH TO WARM THE DOOR, IT STILL TOOK AT LEAST 15 MINUTES BEFORE I COULD GET THE LATCH TO ENGAGE. I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FOR THIS PROBLEM, INCLUDING SOME ACCOUNTS IN WHICH THE LATCH DISENGAGED WHILE DRIVING! THIS IS EXTREMELY SCARY AND VERY DANGEROUS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A WELL-KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED PROBLEM THAT IS SEVERE ENOUGH TO WARRANT A RECALL. IT COULD CERTAINLY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT AND POTENTIALLY A LOSS OF CONTROL WITH POTENTIALLY LETHAL RESULTS.

DOOR LATCHES ARE FREEZING OPEN/CLOSED. DEALER HAD ME DRIVE IT TO THEM TO FIX IT, WHICH I DID SO WHILE HOLDING THE DOOR CLOSED. I AM BEING TOLD THIS IS NOT A RECALL BUT A TECHNICAL FIX. THAT IS UNBELIEVABLE TO ME, IT'S A $40,000 VEHICLE WITH DOOR LATCHES THAT COULD ALLOW A PERSON SEATED TO LITERALLY FALL OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAS TO BE FIXED. THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AFTER FREEZING CONDITIONS IN MAINE WOULD NOT CLOSE AS I DROVE IT TO UHAUL TO HAVE A HITCH INSTALLED. THIS WAS EXTREMLY DANGEROUS AS THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED.
I HAD JUST GOT MY KIDS IN THE TRUCK, STARTED THE TRUCK AND TURNED ON THE FRONT AND BACK DEFROSTERS. WHILE SITTING AND LETTING TRUCK WARM UP, THE INSIDE OF THE CAB STARTED SMOKING- GOT MY KIDS OUT QUICKLY AND THEN THE BACK MIDDLE WINDOW SHATTERED OUT OF NOWHERE.

BACK SINCE 2018-2019 IVE HAD A REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH MY DOOR LATCHES FREEZING, SPECIFICALLY THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR. I'M VERY, VERY CONCERNED THAT IN THE CASE OF AN EMERGENCY I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET MY KIDS OUT OF THE TRUCK. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR OF DRIVING THE LATCH UNFREEZES AND I'M ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. THERE IS NO LONGER A TSB ON THE TRUCK BECAUSE THE ISSUE WAS "FIXED" LAST YEAR (NOV OF 2019). IN FACT THE ISSUE IS NOT FIXED AND MY DOORS FROZE THIS MORNING ON THE WAY TO DROPPING MY KIDS OFF AT SCHOOL. TODAY, I SUBMIT THIS COMPLAINT FOR THE UNEXPECTED SHATTERING OF MY FORD F150 REAR GLASS WINDOW, AT NO FAULT OF MY OWN!! IUNOCCUPIED, THE VEHICLE, 2018 F150 ,WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I NOTICED THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED ON THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDE OF THE GLASS. THE SLIDER REAR WINDOW WAS NOT SHATTERED AND NO OBJECT STUCK THE GLASS! FROM THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE, THE REAR WINDOW APPEARED TO SEPARATE FROM THE ROOF SEAM AND SMALL PIECES OF GLASS LAY ON THE BED COVER. THE TOP CORNERS OF THE EXTERIOR GLASS WERE SHATTERED AND THE REAR GLASS APPEARED TO BUCKLED. APPROXIMATELY 1 HOURS EARLIER, I DROVE TO THE GAS STATION AND UPON MY RETURN PARKED THE VEHICLE IN MY RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY. THE REAR WINDOW WAS IN TACT AND THE WEATHER WAS WARM. APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES LATER I BEGAN WATERING FLOWERS IN THE BACKYARD AND MADE MY WAY TO THE FRONT YARD. THE SPLINTERED PIECES OF GLASS WERE NOTICED ON THE TRUCK BED COVER BEFORE THE ACTUAL SHATTERED GLASS PANEL. THIS TRUCK IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD AND I AM SURPRISE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL. IT APPEARS THIS REAR WINDOW PROBLEM IS HEAVILY DOCUMENTED AND HAS BEEN PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES AT RISK FOR YEARS. DUE TO THIS DANGEROUS MANUFACTURING FLAW, MANY LIVES CONTINUE TO BE AT RISK! UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE GLASS REPAYMENT OR PAY A DEDUCTIBLE TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY. FIRST NOTICED A PROBLEM DRIVING AND APPLYING THE BRAKES WE HEARD A WATER SLOSHING SOUND ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE TRUCK. INDICATIONS OF WATER IN CAB AND SATURATED CARPET'S AND WIRING WENT UNNOTICED DUE TO WEATHER TECH FULL FLOOR MATS. WE CONTACTED FORD CORPORATION ONLINE AND THEY ADVISED FOR US TO TAKE IT INTO OUR DEALERSHIP TO BE ASSESSED. OUR DEALERSHIP MADE AN APPOINTMENT A WEEK OUT, SO OUR TRUCK SAT IN OUR GARAGE FOR AN ADDITIONAL WEEK. WE USED A SHOP VAC AND SUCKED OUT AS MUCH WATER AS WE COULD AND LEFT THE DOOR WINDOWS DOWN TO HELP DRY OUT THE INTERIOR. THE DEALERSHIP REMOVED AND REINSTALLED THE TRIM PANELS WITH SILICONE SEALANT ON BOTH DOORS ON THE RIGHT SIDE.

FORD F-150 2018 SUPER CREW CAB 2ND DISCOVERY OF WATER LEAK IN CAB OF TRUCK WITH WET CARPET PADDING AND CARPETS AGAIN ONLY THIS TIME THE WATER LEAK WAS BEHIND THE BACK SEATS DOWN THE CAB WALL INTERIOR. CALLED OUR FORD DEALERSHIP BACK AND TOOK OUR TRUCK BACK IN FOR THEM TO ASSESS THIS 2ND WATER LEAK. OUR FORD DEALERSHIP ADVISED THAT THEY HAD TO REMOVE THE TRUCK BED TO FIND THIS WATER LEAK COMING IN FROM THE REAR CAB VENTS AND LOCKING TABS ON VENTS. THEY ALSO FOUND THE CARPET INSULATOR WAS BEHIND THE REAR VENTS WHICH CAUSED THE VENT SEAL TO WARP AND LEAK. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR VENTS COMPLETELY THEN THEY RETESTED FOR LEAKS AND FOUND NO LEAKS AT THAT TIME. THEY ALSO REPLACED THE TRUCK BED BOLTS AND HAD TO RESPRAY IN THE BED LINER OVER THE BOLTS.

THE PROBLEM CENTERS AROUND THE TRAILER HITCH BEING REPRESENTED AS A CLASS 4 HITCH ON THE OPTION PACKAGE YET ITS IS CLEARLY LABELED AS ONLY A CLASS 3, UP TO 5000 #'S ON THE LABEL ON THE HITCH ITSELF. I AM NOT GETTING A DEFINITE ANSWER FROM FORD OR THE DEALER AS TO WHAT THE TOWING CAPACITY ACTUALLY IS AT THIS TIME. FORD REFUSES TO SEND THE PROPER HITCH TO THE DEALER TO INSTALL AND I'VE BEEN GIVEN CONFLICTING ANSWERS AS TO WHAT IT IS RATED FOR, AND WHY THE WINDOW STICKER ON SOME TRUCKS SAY CLASS FOUR ,BUT THE LABEL ON THE HITCH SAYS ONLY 5000#'S. THE DEALER WENT BY THE OPTIONS SUPPLIED WITH THE TRUCK WHEN THEY SWAPPED THEM IN APRIL, ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS WITH THIS TRUCK. I AM CONCERNED THAT IF I TOW MY 7000# TRAILER I'LL BE OUT SIDE THE LEGAL LIMIT FOR THE HITCH, ALSO IT COULD BE EXPOSING MYSELF AND OTHERS TO AN UNSAFE CONDITION. I HAVE CONTACTED MR. MAURICE HICKS AT D.O.T. AND HAVE PASSED ALONG TO HIM PICTURES HE NEEDED TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. HE SUGGESTED I CONTACT SAFERCAR TO START THE PROCESS . MYSELF AND THE SERVICE MANGER AT THE DEALER EXAMINED SEVERAL NEW TRUCKS ON HIS LOT AND DISCOVERED THAT IT SEEMS TO OCCUR COMMONLY AS TO THE OPTION PACKAGE WITH THE TRUCK AND / OR THE WINDOW STICKER ON THE TRUCK DON'T MATCH THE LABELING ON THE HITCH ITSELF, SAYING CLASS 4 BUT LABELED FOR A CLASS 3. I HAVEN'T BEEN USING THE TRUCK FOR OVER 4 MONTHS TO TOW ANYTHING OVER THE RATING ON THE LABEL.

THIS BROKE THE TAILGATE HANDLE HOUSING THE BUTTON FOR OPENING TAILGATE, THE LIGHT AND BACKUP CAMERA. I HAD NO IDEA HOW THIS COULD'VE HAPPEN. NO WAY COULD THE KEY FOB COULD HAVE ACTIVATED THE AUTO RELEASE AS IT WAS ON THE CONSUL WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET FOR ANY POSSIBLE CAUSES AND FOUND MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.

I AM EXPERIENCING DOOR LATCH ISSUES ON MY 2018 FORD F150 SUPERCREW PICKUP TRUCK. IN COLD WEATHER, I AM ABLE TO OPEN THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR, BUT UNABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR. WHEN I ATTEMPT TO CLOSE THE DOOR, IT BOUNCES BACK AT ME. I AM CONCERNED THE DOOR IS NOT SECURE, AND CAN OPEN AT ANY TIME. THE DOOR WILL SUBSEQUENTLY CLOSE ONLY AFTER THE TRUCK IS RUNNING WITH THE HEAT ON HIGH FOR OVER 30 MINUTES. THIS IS A GREAT CONCERN FOR SAFETY AS WE HAVE TO HAVE SOMEONE SIT IN THE REAR SEATS AND HOLD THE DOOR SHUT WHEN WE EXPERIENCE THE ISSUE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS WINTER THAT THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED, AND THE ISSUE HAS BEEN WIDELY DOCUMENTED ON THE INTERNET. WHENEVER THE TEMPERATURES DIP BELOW FREEZING, THE DOOR LATCHES ON THE F-150 FREEZE AND NO LONGER LATCH. THE COLDER IT GETS, THE WORSE THE LATCHES PERFORM. I AM FORCED TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES WITH A COMPLETELY UNSECURED DOOR. IT HAS NEARLY CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS, AS WHEN I MAKE A TURN THE DOOR FLIES OPEN NEARLY STRIKING NEARBY CARS. I WORK 20 MILES FROM HOME, AND HAVE DRIVEN 20 FULL MILES WITH AN UNSECURED DOOR EVEN AFTER HAVING MY TRUCK RUNNING FOR UPWARDS OF AN HOUR BEFORE I LEAVE THE HOUSE WITH THE HEAT ON HIGH. I HAVE BEEN LATE FOR WORK DUE TO MY INABILITY TO SECURE THE DOOR THAT MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IS SUPPOSED TO BE SECURED BY. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS NOT TAKING SERIOUSLY ENOUGH. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK IN THE SHOP THREE TIMES NOW, AND THEY CAN'T SEEM TO GET IT RIGHT. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY, THEY JUST KEEP PUSHING IT BACK ON THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP KEEPS WORKING ON IT, BUT THEY ARE SAYING THAT FORD HASN'T GIVEN THEM ANYTHING TO WORK WITH AS FAR AS FIXING IT. I HAVE ALSO CONTACTED THE BBB IN REGARDS TO THIS VEHICLE. BY ALL THE FORUMS ONLINE, AND COMPLAINTS I HAVE SEEN ABOUT THESE VEHICLES, I AM CLEARLY NOT THE ONLY PERSON. FORD KEEPS SELLING THESE VEHICLES, AND DOES NOT DISCLOSE THIS PROBLEM WITH ANY OF THE CONSUMERS. THEN WE ARE FORCED TO DRIVE UNSAFE VEHICLES WHILE PAYING A PREMIUM PRICE FOR THEM.

VEHICLE MUST SIT WITH THE HEAT ON FOR SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE LATCHES WILL FUNCTION AGAIN WASTING OWNERS TIME AND GAS. THERE WERE TIMES THAT I HAD NO OPTION BUT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WHILE HOLDING THE DOOR SHUT BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT LATCH. I HAVE A COUPLE OF VIDEOS TO DEMONSTRATE THE ISSUES BUT THE FILE SIZE IS TOO LARGE TO UPLOAD BUT WOULD BE WILLING TO SEND TO SOMEONE VIA EMAIL AT YOUR REQUEST. RECENTLY, I WAS TRAVELING ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY, AND THE DOOR THAT MY 8 MONTH OLD SON WAS SITTING AT FLUNG OPEN, I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND LIMPED THE TRUCK HOME, UNABLE TO GET THE DOOR CLOSED. I HAVE VIDEO OF ME TRYING TO CLOSE THAT DOOR WITH MY SON SITTING IN HIS CAR SEAT. THE FOLLOWING WEEK, I HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE OPPOSITE REAR DOOR, WHICH I ALSO GOT VIDEO OF. THIS ISSUE IS SO COMMON THAT I PREVIOUSLY HAD A 2016 F150 WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE, I HAVE VIDEOS OF MYSELF TRYING TO CLOSE THE DOORS ON THAT VEHICLE, BEFORE, AND AFTER FORD TRIED TO FIX THAT TRUCK, DUE TO THIS, AND TRANSMISSION ISSUES ON THAT 2016, I TRADED IT IN AT A LOSS FOR MY 2018 F150, WHICH FORD CLAIMED WOULD NOT HAVE THE PROBLEMS THAT MY PREVIOUS TRUCK HAD. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH FORD TO ATTEMPT TO FIX MY 2018 F150, BUT I AM NOT CONFIDENT THEY WILL BE ABLE TO FIX IT, AS THERE ARE REPORTS THAT THE REVISED TSB THEY ARE USING NOW, ALSO DOESN'T WORK. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME WITH THE DOOR UNSECURED AND FLAPPING OPEN AND CLOSED NEVER LATCHING. LATER IN THE DAY I HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AS CAR IS BRAND NEW AND HAS 1400 MILES ON IT. THEY SAID SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL CORPORATE WON'T LET THEM DO ANYTHING TO FIX IT. A CALL TO FORD CORPORATE SAID THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I JUST PAID FOR THIS TRUCK AND I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT AFTER THIS HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE. I AM NOT THE FIRST EITHER BASED ON WHAT I HAVE READ. WHEN PERFORMING A TURN, THE DRIVER'S DOOR POPPED OPEN. I WAS ABLE TO GRAB A HOLD OF THE DOOR AND TRIED TO SHUT IT. THE LATCH WOULD NOT FUNCTION. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND EXITED. I SLAMMED THE DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES FROM OUTSIDE AND IT FINALLY LATCHED. I CALLED THE DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SERVICE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAVE OBSERVED THIS ON OTHER TRUCKS AND THAT FORD HAS ISSUED A FIX. THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT THEY HAVE HAD A 50% SUCCESS RATE ON THE REPAIR, AND THAT WHEN IT IS NOT SUCCESSFUL, THE PROBLEM WILL BECOME WORSE. BECAUSE OF THE LOW SUCCESS RATE, I ASKED IF IT WAS STILL ADVISABLE TO HAVE THE REPAIRS MADE. THEY ADVISED ME TO BRING THE VEHICLE FOR REPAIR.

2018 F 150 SUPER CREW, RIGHT FRONT DOOR WON'T LATCH SHUT: 12/11/2018 AFTER OPENING THE DOOR TO PUT THE KID'S BACKPACKS IN, I COULD NOT GET THE DOOR TO LATCH SHUT. I HAD TO RUN THE SEAT BELT THROUGH THE HANDLE IN THE DOOR PANEL TO KEEP THE DOOR SHUT ON THE WAY HOME. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IT HAS HAPPENED, ALSO HAPPENED 12/7/2018 AND 12/8/2018. ONCE HOME, I USED A SCREWDRIVER TO MOVE THE LATCHING MECHANISM IN THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES AND CONTINUOUSLY HIT THE LOCK AND UNLOCK BUTTON. EVENTUALLY THE MECHANISM WOULD FREE UP AND THE DOOR WOULD LATCH SHUT. THIS SCENARIO SEEMS IDENTICAL TO THE ISSUE COVERED UNDER FORD TSB 16-0155 FOR 2015-2017 F-150'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.

POSSIBILITY OF BEING LOCKING IN THE CAR DURING EMERGENCY OR EJECTED IF NOT WEARING SEAT BELT. FIXES FOR 2017/EARLY 2018 ARE IN MY JUNE 2018 BUILD AND VIN IS NOT ON RECALL LIST BUT I EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT RECALL RELATED FIXES WERE SUPPOSED TO SOLVE.

FORD APPEARS TO BE AWARE OF THIS AND HAS ISSUED FIXES FOR PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS. THESE FIXES DO NOT WORK AND THE PROBLEM IS NOW WITH TRUCKS BUILT IN 2018.

IN BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES, DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOOR LATCH FAILS TO LOCK IN CLOSED POSITION WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED, ALLOWING DOOR TO OPEN FREELY WITHOUT USING DOOR HANDLE. THE ONLY WAY TO SECURE THE DOOR FOR TRANSIT IS TO EITHER HOLD IT CLOSED MANUALLY OR RUN A STRAP BETWEEN THE TWO INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES TO KEEP IT FROM FLYING OPEN. AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR A WHILE AND INTERIOR IS WARMED UP, LATCH BEGINS WORKING AS NORMAL.

I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE DASHBOARD PANEL OF MY FORD F150 2018. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE DASHBOARD PANEL BROKEN AND BUMP IN THE DUCTS OF FRONT DEFROST AREA. ALSO IN THE AIRBAG OF PASSENGER IS BUMP ON THE TOP. ALL MODELS OF 2015 TO 2018 HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. IS A DEFECT OF FABRICATION. I REPORT THIS ISSUE TO THE DEALER AND THEM GO TO REPLACE BECAUSE HAS WARRANTY. YOU CAN SEE THIS PROBLEM IF YOU SEE OUTSIDE ON THE GLASS FRONT OF YOUR TRUCK.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO HER VEHICLE, CAUSING IT TO FISHTAIL. THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WENT INTO AN EMBANKMENT. THERE WAS A STUMP IN THE EMBANKMENT THAT PUNCTURED A HOLE IN THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS HAD NOT DEPLOYED. THE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. WITHIN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, A FIRE ERUPTED FROM THE AREA OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW TO THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE FLAMES CONSUMED THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER WERE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE DEALER (HERITAGE FORD, 1600 SHELBURNE RD, SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT 05403, 802-865-8140) WAS CONTACTED MORE THAN TWICE AND ASKED THAT THE MANUFACTURER BE CONTACTED. THE VERMONT STATE POLICE TOWED THE VEHICLE TO THEIR YARD FOR INVESTIGATION. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V568000 (STRUCTURE, SEAT BELTS), ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHEN THE CRASH OCCURRED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT HAD NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE IN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.

THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND WHEN THE PASSENGER DOOR IS UNLOCKED WITH THE KEY FOB THE TAILGATE FAILS DOWN. WHEN THE DRIVER EXITS THE VEHICLE THE TAILGATE FALLS DOWN. BY FALLS DOWN I MEAN THE TAILGATE ON THE PICKUP IS CLOSED AND IN THE VERTICAL POSITION AND THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE TAILGATE IS WITH THE KEY FOB. THE TAILGATE FOB IS DEPRESSED AND THE TAILGATE OPENS (FALLS DOWN) AUTOMATICALLY. ONLY THE TAILGATE CONTROLS ARE INCORRECTLY OPENING THE TAILGATE WHEN THE PASSENGER DOOR IS OPENED WITH THE KEY FOB OR WHEN YOU GET IN THE BACK DOORS. ALSO AFTER DRIVING THE TRUCK WHEN OPENING THE DRIVERS DOOR THE TAILGATE DROPS DOWN. IF A CHILD OR ADULT HAPPENS TO BE BEHIND THE TRUCK THE CAN GET HURT.

IN COLD WEATHER THE DOOR LATCHES FREEZE CAUSING THE DOORS TO REMAIN UNLATCHED. THIS CAUSED MY REAR DOORS TO FLY OPEN WHEN I WENT AROUND A CORNER. THERE WAS A RECALL BUT IT DOESN'T COVER THE 2018 MODEL YEAR. MY TRUCK WAS MADE IN OCT 2017, AND I TOOK DELIVERY IN MID DEC 2017. THE DEALER WILL INSPECT, BUT AS YET FORD DOESN'T APPEAR TO HAVE A FIX FOR THE ISSUE.
