10 speed transmission, started slipping. And then slamming into gear while it would down shift. We have had 4 rebuilt transmissions put in with Ford. And now the truck just went into the shop again for the same issues. This last time before going into the dealership, felt like the transmission was just going to drop out. It was hard.Do not feel safe in this truck any more. it is not reliable. No warning lights at all.

Dec 22, 2025

10 speed TREMIC transmission, the same one covered by NHTSA #24V-208. Transmission hunts for gears, and has dropped from a high gear to first gear without warning. The advisory says that it could drop out of any gear to first gear without warning possibly causing a crash. For some reason, my vehicle with the same transmission and same problems is not covered by the recall.

Dec 19, 2025

Vehicle is showing symptoms similar to common reported problems from people who owned Ford F-150 with Eco-boost. Symptoms such as: Engine had difficulty starting Transmission shifting Rattling noises coming out from the engine compartment Oil leaks coming out the tail pipe Gauge is showing engine is over heating Turbo is having a hard time accelerating

Dec 18, 2025

The transmission has Harsh, Jerky, clunking shifts. It also has delayed engagement and complete power loss. There is also problems with downshifting from 7th gear to first gear when coming to a complete stop. Vehicle seams to be in neutral then finally shifts to 1st gear before vehicle finally moves.

Dec 11, 2025

Transmission shifted from 10th gear to 1st gear at highway speed. Transmission was rebuilt by ford, and is again exhibiting poor/harsh shifting.

Dec 8, 2025

Transmission is stalling, jerking, skipping gears and slipping. I have talked to the dealership several times about the transmission slamming really hard in 4th and 8th gear. They would tell me it’s just trying to find the right gear to be in, your battery is causing it or it needs to be reprogrammed. There has never been any warning lights. This truck has spent over 4 months in the shop for drive train issues. New rear end, new drive shaft and a vibration that has never gone away.

I HAVE OWNED THIS TRUCK AT AROUND 38000 MILES UNTIL NOW AT ~63,000 MILES. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE TRUCK ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION BEING UNPREDICTABLE. AT AROUND 50,000 MILES I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SHIFTING POORLY, NOT SHIFTING INTO GEAR, JUMPING GEARS. THEY LOOKED AT IT, SAID IT HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSFER CASE BUT NOT THE TRANSMISSION. THEY REPLACED A COUPLE PARTS. THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM HAS NOT GONE AWAY. I CALLED AT AROUND 59,000 MILES ABOUT SERIOUS ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION NOT GOING INTO GEAR AND JUMPING GEARS CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV. BY THE TIME I BROUGHT IT WITH THEIR SCHEDULE, MY 60,000 MILE WARRANTY HAD RAN OUT. I'M NOW AT 63,000 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION IS WORSE THAN EVER, AND FORD WILL NOT WARRANTY THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP BLAIMS THE 10 GEAR TRANSMISSION WITH HOW IT IS ACTING, BUT MY ISSUES ARE MUCH WORSE THAN JUST A TROUBLED TRANSMISSION SERIES. WHILE DRIVING TO THE POST OFFICE TODAY, IT WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. ON THE WAY BACK FROM THE POST OFFICE, DRIVING ON THE ROAD, IT SHIFTED FROM ITS GEAR INTO A STEADY NEUTRAL ALL WHILE I WAS PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV AND WHEN IT FINALLY SLAMMED INTO THE NEXT GEAR, CAUSED THE TRUCK TO ROCKET FORWARD. IT QUICK ACCELERATION WITH THE NECK BREAKING JERK WAS DISTURBING.

I had just replaced the transmission (R1080; 6 cyl 3.5L Turbo) on September 3, 2025 due to P0734-00 (Gear 4 incorrect Ratio and P07F7-00 (Gear 10 incorrect Ratio). The transmission matter can be referenced on NHTSA ID # XXX. On September 30, 2025, while driving down the parking deck ramp (at 3-5mph) my check engine light came on with code P0022 (camshaft timing); resulting in replacement of the camshafts. The camshaft had a HOLE in it (photo supplied). The camshaft issue is another issue many Ford F150 truck owners are experiencing. Again, Ford has continued to give "band-aid" fixes with TSB's and no REAL fix to a continuing issue with these trucks. On December 3, 2022, this used truck was purchased from a Ford Dealership in Raleigh, NC (77,100 miles) and was Ford Gold/Blue Certified per my purchase information. The Gold/Blue paperwork even included that the "Customer Satisfaction Repair" (not a true recall mandated by NHTSA) had been performed by a TSB (along with the unintentional tailgate opening also a Customer Satisfaction Repair). There are no recalls issued on this vehicle. Ford has offered NO assistance towards repairs. As evidenced by the number of complaints filed on the NHTSA website for this particular engine, at what point will the NHTSA open an investigation and mandate that FORD issue a RECALL for the KNOWN problems with the R1080 3.5L and the camshaft/phasers. Three separate times vehicle shuttering and jerked, and wouldn’t engage into certain gears left my son and I stranded on the freeway. Unable to drive, it started and drove fine hours later after it cooled. Weeks after this happened leaking fluid, overheating, and unable to shift into gear. Shop said it fried 3 gears. Currently having to replace the entire trans which costs half of what the vehicle is worth.

Nov 28, 2025

While driving at normal speed, the vehicle suddenly began producing heavy white smoke from the exhaust, the engine started to idle roughly, and a check-engine light came on. There was no oil-pressure warning, no low-oil message, and no “stop safely” alert of any kind. The only warning was emissions-related. After seeing the smoke, the vehicle was parked and later driven only to a dealer for inspection. A dealer inspected the vehicle and confirmed that an internal seal in one of the turbochargers failed, causing the engine to pump all of its oil directly into the exhaust system. This resulted in complete oil loss and catastrophic engine damage due to oil starvation. The dealer confirmed the failure and determined that the issue originated from the turbocharger assembly and not from misuse or neglect. The failure occurred suddenly and without any oil-pressure warning to alert the driver. The safety concern is that a turbocharger failure caused total loss of engine oil without triggering any oil-pressure warning or driver alert, creating a risk of sudden engine failure, loss of power, or engine seizure while driving. The lack of oil-pressure warning before or during the event was confirmed by the dealer’s inspection.

Transmission failed. Pulling into traffic the transmission failed to shift from first gear into second, instead not going into any gear at all, putting my entire family at risk of being struck by oncoming traffic! Engine revved and truck would not move. Then suddenly shifts into third gear jerking violently. Currently in shop for transmission replacement. After a bit of research I found that this is a common issue with the transmission.

Nov 21, 2025

The transmission has the potential to shift erratically most recently when crossing a divided highway, trying to get in them median, the truck switched gears, causing the truck to stop blocking oncoming traffic. It was only momentarily and shifted back to the correct gear. It has the potential to hard shift pretty consistently.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH on the interstate, while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle decelerated to 2 MPH. The messages to “Schedule Maintenance” and “Powertrain - Reduced Power” were displayed on the instrument panel and the Mobile App on the cellphone, and the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The contact pulled over to the right side of the road and researched the failure. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the dealer would be contacted, and then the contact would receive a callback. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000.

Once the vehicle is in Drive and starts shifting through the gears, the truck losses all acceleration for 3-5 seconds and then experiences a harsh shift into gear. This causes the vehicle to "stall" in intersections and other hazardous locations if it does not shift properly. The 2020 F150 3.5 ecoBoost has been serviced at local Ford dealerships since bought. Most recently, it was taken into a Ford dealership for routine oil change, transmission fluid change, spark plugs and coils, and 100K inspection due to the vehicle being at 94K miles. I advised the service technician of the concern for the shifting issue that started between the last oil change, which got significantly worse during day-to-day operation.

Nov 6, 2025

10rd80 Transmission CDF drum failure. A known design defect on 2020 F150 that Ford should issue a recall on. Ford finally fixed the design issue in August 2022. My truck is out of warranty so I will be out over $6000 that I do not have to fix. Extreme financial problem as I do not have the money to fix and this is my only vehicle

Nov 3, 2025

Transmission will not shift into gear. No recall on this and dealers option is for service and repair. Transmission was serviced and problem shifting still continues. I have received alerts from Ford Pass App indicating Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power — What Is Happening? The transmission control module has detected a concern when trying to shift to 7th gear. A failsafe logic disables 7th gear for the remainder of this key cycle. What Should I Do? Have your vehicle checked by an authorized dealer as soon as possible. This loss of power is a huge safety issue as when I accelerate into traffic the lag in shifting causes the truck to not get up to speed and you’re basically a sitting duck. Transmission was serviced and this did not resolve the issues. Replacement is now scheduled and will cost a minimum of $9000.00. This is a KNOWN issue with the 10-speed transmissions and should be recalled for repair &/or replacement by FORD. This truck has only 116,000 miles!!

Oct 23, 2025

The transmission progressively became worse--skipping gears, lurching, clanking, hesitating and losing power. It became unsafe to drive. A complete rebuild of the transmission we required. There is a defect int he transmission that allows bushing/rings to move around.

Oct 15, 2025

Truck was traveling at 30 mph and slowing down for stop sign and shifted from 4 th gear to 3rd gear so hard the trucks engine turned off and had to come to a stop and shift into park to turn truck off and back on again. Truck was traveling at 30 mph and slowing down for stop sign

Oct 10, 2025

At around 61,000 miles my transmission started having a shuttering noise and had a harsh jerky shift from 3rd to 5th when vehicle was recently started up for the first time of the day. multiple TSB's on Ford's website for this issue including the latest TSB 25-2301. It appears that the interior drum has failed which has been a known issue. Dealer states $6219.87 to repair the transmission. CDF TSB, replace the valve body, and reprogram the PCM.

While driving on the interstate doing around 70 MPH I I Stanton drive up a fairly steep hill on the road . About half way up the truck down shifted from 10th gear too what it said was 7th. The gear did not engage and the truck revved up like it was in neutral. I pulled over immediately. Checked under the truck and no leaks. Got back in and truck ran like normal. Went to the dealer and was told that is a common issue with this particular transmission. I also have noticed when driving and coasting too a stop when the truck downshifts there is sometimes a loud clunking sound. Ford needs to be help responsible for putting trash transmissions in these vehicles. Please advise them to issue a recall and repair or replace them.

Component/System Failure: The 10-speed automatic transmission failed prematurely at only 75,000 miles. The transmission is still in the vehicle and available for inspection upon request. The symptoms include harsh shifting between gears, particularly into lower gears, followed by significant lag and then abrupt jumping/engagement. This is consistent with numerous other complaints filed regarding the 10-speed transmission in this model year. Safety Risk: The unpredictable transmission behavior created dangerous driving conditions. The harsh shifting and lag followed by sudden acceleration made it impossible to safely merge into traffic, navigate intersections, or maintain consistent speed on highways. The erratic gear engagement put myself, my passengers, and other drivers at risk as the vehicle's response became completely unreliable. The truck is currently unsafe to drive. Professional Confirmation: Yes, the problem has been confirmed by Aamco Transmission on Sept 17, 2025. They diagnosed it as transmission failure requiring complete replacement. Manufacturer/Other Inspection: No inspection by Ford has occurred to date. Warning Indicators: No warning lights, check engine lights, or dashboard messages appeared prior to or during the failure. The only symptoms were the physical driving symptoms described above—harsh shifting, significant lag, and abrupt gear engagement—which began approximately gradually over the past month and progressively worsened until the vehicle became unsafe to operate.

I was driving eastbound on city streets at 30 mph with my three young children when the vehicle exhibited abnormal shifting behavior, searching for a gear. Despite being in 9th gear, traveling the speed limit, and lightly pressing the pedal, the vehicle experienced a rough downshift and lost power while going up a small incline over a freeway overpass. I turned on my hazards and attempted to move over to avoid an accident, which I successfully did. The vehicle regained power after restarting with rough shifts in the lower gears. I put the vehicle in manual mode to better control the shifting, though it remained incredibly rough. The kids were shaken and refuse to drive in the vehicle. Since then, I’ve only driven it to have it serviced at our local Ford dealer. They stated everything was fine after the transmission fluid exchange and battery replacement. However, the vehicle still exhibited rough shifting behavior on the short drive home. A friend pulled codes from the TCM/ECU and found P0734-00, P07F7-00, and P2535-00. He assisted, backed up the ECU/TCM, re-flashed the onboard ECU/TCM with the latest mappings, and reset the adaptive learning. He then drove the vehicle with diagnostics equipment connected and recorded the driving data, finding that the transmission was losing pressure and the shift behavior was slightly better but still rough shifts between 2-4 and 7-8 gear. Once the drive/test was completed, codes P0761 and P2702 appeared on the reader. He explained that the issues pointed to a CDF drum defect, which has several TSB’s published. He advised me to stop driving it and reach out to the dealer or local qualified shop. I was quoted between $7,677-$8,978 to replace trans with reman unit. Vehicle has been maintained with all records on file and is in nearly perfect condition with exception of the transmission due to the CDF defect. I would love to see action taken to prevent injury/death as I could see that occurring at some point.

Sep 19, 2025

Like most people with the same model and year. My transmission stopped shifting, and stalled. I was fortunate since I was sitting in the intersection. You need to look into the 10speed transmission they are faulty and need to be investigated!

Sep 19, 2025

Like a lot of f-150 owners, my 10speed transmission stopped working not allowing me to accelerate or shift into reverse. I was stuck in the intersection luckily I didn’t get into an accident. The truck was stuck in 7th gear! This is dangerous and happens far too commonly, please investigate, this is dangerous and expensive for the average consumer. Please help.

Sep 15, 2025

the transmission for this truck has on several occasions shifted very hard when accelerating, and on a couple occasions has down shifted without warning and without reason. the down shifting incidents were unexpected and could have caused an accident if I was in traffic.

Sep 9, 2025

The transmission failed. While driving, it shifts extremely hard and will suddenly downshift without warning. Autonation Ford of North Canton, Ohio, inspected the vehicle on August 13, 2025, and reported that the CDF drum clutches were likely worn. The truck is available for inspection upon request. The sudden downshifts cause the truck to jerk violently and lose speed abruptly. On multiple occasions, this has nearly caused me to lose control and creates a high risk of being rear-ended by other drivers who are not expecting the sudden slowdown. Yes. Autonation Ford of North Canton, Ohio, confirmed the issue on August 13, 2025. Yes. Autonation Ford of North Canton inspected the transmission and stated it was likely due to worn CDF drum clutches. There were no warning lamps or messages. The symptoms began before August 2025 when the transmission started slipping, shifting hard, and then downshifting unexpectedly. The issue occurred just one month after the warranty expired. The dealer quoted me approximately $7,000 to repair it. I have read that Ford has replaced the old pressed bushings in this part with welded ones to prevent this failure, which suggests this may be a known defect in the original design.

Acceleration without foot on gas pedal, erratic & harsh shifting, and slipping gears

Aug 28, 2025

* What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Transmission/powertrain; currently available for inspection at time of submission * How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? While stopped at stop sign/stop light, the vehicle would have long hesitation before advancing forward. I would initiate hazard lights to prevent driver behind me from crashing into the back of my vehicle. The vehicle would shift harshly and untimely as well as randomly downshift from 10th gear to 1st gear (x2 on 24Aug2025). I would have to pull vehicle off the road and when attempting to resume driving the vehicle would not move. The RPM’s would rev, however the vehicle would not move. I would turn off the vehicle and then restart it and the vehicle would move forward, resuming with harsh shifting. Loss of power, delayed and harsh shifting pose a safety hazard while the vehicle is in operation. * Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes; by independent service center * Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No * Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? First check engine light illuminated on August 16, 2025. (Please note the check engine light disappears once the vehicle is turned off and then restarted). I took the vehicle to AutoZone on 25Aug2025. The tech placed the code reader on the vehicle. 2 codes, P0734-00 and P07F7-00, ‘gear 4 incorrect ratio’ and ‘gear 10 incorrect ratio’ respectively were displayed. Vehicle taken to independent service center on 25Aug2025 who also placed code reader on vehicle. I am not in possession of that information at time of writing. Monthly ‘my vehicle report’ has been clear with no issues whatsoever noted until report dated 25Aug2025 (attached)

Aug 21, 2025

transmission has on several occasions lurched when starting the vehicle. during driving, the transmission shifts hard and sometimes jumps in and out of gear as if it cant decide which gear to engage. this often happens at low speeds after first start, and between 5th and 6th gear.

Aug 12, 2025

December of 2020, I purchased 3 - 2020 Ford F150's with 5.0L engines and 10speed 10r80 transmissions for 2 of my companies as PERSONAL DRIVERS (non-commercial use). *Vehicle 1 - at 82,000 miles - was experiencing missed shifts, and harsh engagement. Within a couple of weeks of this happening, unfortunately the vehicle was totaled in an accident unrelated to shifting. *Vehicle 2 - began to experience the same problems, this vehicle would miss a shift and fall completely "out of gear" leaving no power or throttle response (roughly 78,000 miles) and had been service according to Ford specification and mileage with Motorcraft factory filter, gasket, and Ford ULV fluid. Unfortunately this was the only vehicle I purchased an extended warranty for due to long highway trips out of town where a breakdown would be difficult to deal with out of town. Determined as "transmission Failure" and replaced at Billy Howell Ford in Cumming Ga. (via extended warranty) *Vehicle 3 - VIN NUMBER IN QUESTION - at 74,000 miles vehicle is now missing shifts, jumps out of gear. 2 DANGEROUS scenarios this week. Crossing oncomming traffic to turn onto road - 1-2 or 1-3 shift missed and complete loss of power/movement barely avoiding being hit by oncoming cars. Second occurrence, slowing to a red light on wet road. Coasting/Braking as transmission began downshifting from 10th gear,.. when it got to 7/6 it downshifted to Gear 4 sliding/screeching the rear tires as the rear end SLID/DRIFTED sideways causing me to PANIC STOP with brake pedal fully depressed to avoid free sliding or losing control of the vehicle. -100% available for inspection FORD SHOULD ABSOLUTELY RECALL ALL OF THE EARLY 10R80 EQUIPPED VEHICLES. IT'S DANGEROUS!! Vehicle has been checked/duplicated and verified by ASE certified technician, local dealer admitted to problems, there are NO MIL's, and NO FAULT CODES STORED COMPUTER. Dealer wants almost $9000 to replace transmission. Ford DO BETTER! -- THIS IS DANGEROUS.

Aug 6, 2025

Transmission has been skipping gears, hard shifting, getting stuck in gears. While traveling in the truck going up an on ramp and then trying to merge into traffic, the transmission got stuck in 7th gear. Pressing the accelerator would not move the vehicle and I was left without the ability to move out of traffic. Vehicles were having to put on their brakes, swerve and go around me. Prior to this time I was having some slight shifting irregularities between gears 2-3 and 7-8. I notified the dealership of issues and they said I would have to drop the vehicle off and it would take 7-10 days before they could even look at it. The vehicle was purchased in December 2020 and currently has just under 75,000 miles. I was told that it was out of warranty. For the first 4 years of ownership the vehicle has always been serviced at a Ford dealership. I was never notified of any issues with the transmission. However they did notify me that a windshield wiper arm was recalled and that was changed. Early in the ownership of the truck, I experienced the vehicle moving backwards when on an incline and taking my foot off of the brake, before accelerating. Also, experienced clanking and jarring when accelerating and then having to take foot off of the accelerator. In 2023, when having the vehicle serviced for oil change, I asked the service technician about these issues and was told that there was nothing wrong and that it was just typical for that type of transmission.

Aug 6, 2025

The first transmission I had in my truck i had. Harsh shifting, Slipping gears, Delayed engagement, Transmission overheating, Loss of power and transmission stuck in higher gear while stopped. They replaced the transmission (at my cost ) now i have over heating issues. There should be a mandatory recall on this transmission, give me my money back and fix the issues for free.

My truck started to throw codes p0240 and p0430 when my truck hit 81000 miles. I am now at 141000 miles. I have since replaced both of my catalytic converters, all 4 of my O2 sensors and I still have the same p0240 and p0430 codes. I also took my truck into ford on Feb 26, 2025 for the recall on my PCM reprogramming. They claimed to have redone the programming but ever since they did that, I now have shifting problems, surging, clanking, hard shifting, random and sporadic shifting with no end in sight. This should be addressed by Ford TSB 24-2101 but again, they did nothing and claim there is nothing wrong with my truck. I have had a fluid replacement and filter replacement with no issues noted, no metal parts, no burnt smell or burnt fluid. Today I came across Ford TSB 24-2184 where they acknowledge that there is an issue with the calibration and controls sensitivity and that replacement of catalytic converters may be necessary. Ford never did any of this. The recall on my truck, which was reprogramming of my PCM also leads to dirty and fouling of the catalytic converter. I have spent over $3000 so far to fix Fords mistakes and not only in nothing fixed, I still have the exact same issues. When i take it to Ford, all the do is clear the codes and then the codes come back on before I get home. So Ford is aware of the issues, knows about the issue and yet will do nothing to fix it.

Jul 29, 2025

This truck has the notorious 10 speed transmission. It has severely abrupt shifts, thuds, clunks. Sudden loss of power or surge of power when transmission shifts. Nhtsa is my only hope of getting the transmission repaired and safe. Not just my truck my sons 2021 had the same issue. Bad cdf drums. Ford revised the sort for 2023 and eliminated it but everyone from 2017-2021 are stuck with an erratic, dangerous transmission that needs recalled.

Jul 28, 2025

I was driving at normal highway speeds for probably around 45 minutes. When I tried to accelerate around a slower car, I lost all power to the gas pedal and then it slammed into 5th gear as I slowed down, I sped back up and it was sluggish and slow to accelerate and then violently shifted from 5th to 9th as if those were the only two gears I had. I was able to make it home, but it was a very dangerous situation.

Experience HARSH Engagement with transmission both upshift and downshift. Some downshifts at so HARSH, feels like rear wheels are trying to “lock up”. Ford dealer performed recall which did not correct the issues. Ford dealer recommended full transmission replacement. Seems this is a known issue and Ford has admitted fault by issuing a recall in an effort to “fix” the problems with the 10 speed transmission.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the transmission shifted hard and shifted into neutral unintendedly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred two weeks later. The vehicle was taken to the same dealer where it was it was determined that the TCM needed a second software update. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

Transmission jerking, clinking sounds, hard up or down shifting. When starting first time in the morning, feels like the transmission is engaging, gives alittle jerk.

Jul 11, 2025

I’ve already had 10R80 10 speed transmission replaced once at 53,000 miles. Now I’m at 65,000 miles and I’m having issues again. Twice this past week, my truck has shifted from 6th gear down to 1st gear while driving for no reason. I’m getting rough shifts again and a lot of clunking and jerking.

Jul 10, 2025

There is a flaw in the design of the 2020 F150 and specifically the 5.0L V8 Engine. I have kept up to date on all maintenance, no visible oil spils and engine is consuming/burning significant amounts of oil. I've been told by numerous dealerships/mechanics that there is nothing that they can do and to try and join all of the class action lawsuits. I spent 50k on a vehicle that isn't even making it thru the life of the loan..... WHY DO I HAVE TO DO A CLASS ACTION. THIS SHOULD BE CONSUMER PROTECTION.

I have a 2020 F150 King Ranch with 64K miles on it. It has always shifted harshly, but I had thought that was just the issue with the design of the 10-speed transmission. Right after 60K miles, the transmission would stay stuck in 1st and rev the rpms high and then jump to 4th. There were other times where the transmission would harshly jump up or down gears. I took it into the local Ford dealership to be reviewed. Of course, this is another case of a faulty 10R80 transmission. I had to get the entire transmission replaced. An almost $10K repair and Ford Motor Co only covered $3800 of it. This is unacceptable, dangerous, and quite frankly irresponsible of Ford. I called the Ford Customer Service three times, each of which, they referred me back to the local dealer (who referred me back to the Ford Motor Co case). Some quick background. I'm a very loyal Ford customer. I've owned 3 F150s, an Expedition, and a Ford Fusion. I get all of my services done at the local Ford dealership. I've never had a transmission go out and especially on such a new truck. ** I rarely tow, so this hasn't been a truck that has been towing a lot of weight (I've towed 4 times with a trailer < 4000 lbs). Customers shouldn't have to pay over $5K for repairs on a truck less than 5 years old that cost over $70K (and 4K miles beyond the Powertrain warranty). That's ridiculous. Ford should step up and do the right thing and recall these transmissions for the customers experiencing problems. I now know of 6 personal people (in a small town) that has the same issue and the dealership is full of trucks with the same transmission problems.

My 2020 Ford F-150 EcoBoost with the 10-speed automatic transmission (10R80) is experiencing the same transmission shifting issue covered under NHTSA Recall 22V188 (Ford Recall 22S71). My truck intermittently shifts erratically, including hard downshifts, delayed upshifts, and occasionally feels like it jumps to a lower gear unexpectedly. This creates a noticeable jolt and could potentially cause loss of vehicle control in traffic or inclement weather. I contacted Ford and was told my VIN is not included in the recall, even though my symptoms match those described. There is also a known TSB (22-2225) for this issue, but the dealer won’t cover it under warranty since no recall appears for my truck. I am requesting that the recall and/or investigation be expanded to include more affected VINs from this model year, as this is clearly not an isolated issue.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle suddenly failed to accelerate and shift gear as needed. The contact coasted to the side of the road and waited for the transmission to shift into gear before being able to continue driving. There were no warning lights illuminated. The failure became more persistent over time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed the failure with the year, make, and model vehicle. The dealer diagnosed a failure inside the transmission with an incorrect size gear, causing the gear failure while shifting gear. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was inspected by a certified mechanic, and it was confirmed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

While driving down the road the transmission in the truck made a load noise and now the truck will no shift properly. Because of this I could have been hit from behind by another truck by the sudden shifing problems from the transmission. This truck has jumped in reverse before and has had transmission problems ford has refused to adress. This is the second powertrain problem to happen in this vehicle going down the road.

Ford 10r80 Transmission slips or revs for long period of time before banging into gear when accelerating. When accelerating and merging onto the highway I am unable to merge and accelerate to highway speed without the risk of being rear ended by oncoming vehicles already at highway speed. The vehicle has been inspected and confirmed that the transmission needs to be replaced. No other lights and absolutely not warnings at any time before problem started. As per TSB 23-2250 and several earlier TSB on this transmission, having a known defect, Ford should escalate this to a recall and compensate owners for the expensive repair when the vehicle should have plenty of more life in it.

The 10-speed transmission downshifted from 10th gear to 1st gear, and then back into 10th again. This sequence happened 3 times in a row, with the 3rd causing a service light to be displayed. This occurred while on the highway with cruise control set at 75mph. The truck is available for inspection upon request. This transmission malfunction caused an abrupt and rapid deceleration, as well as, a loud clunk and temporary lockup of the rear end. The deceleration and loss of power had the potential to cause an accident with cars around me, or a loss of control from the rear end. There are an overwhelming amount of reports of this same issue online, as well as, numerous at the dealership. My truck has been to the dealership and they are claiming it is due to overfilling of transmission fluid during my recent transmission rebuild.

I have a 2020 F150 with just over 58,000 miles. I work from home, and do not tow. While driving up a four lane highway to Boone, NC, my vehicle's transmission appeared to get 'confused' and threw a fault. I took my truck into a dealership to have the issue resolved, and was told that I needed an entirely new transmission because the CDF drum was failing to the tune of almost $10,000. I have brought the issue of hard shifting, and the transmission slipping up to Crossroads Ford of Kernersville previously, but they have refused to look at it because of it was not throwing a code. I called Ford, and they stated that the vehicle would have to encounter a total failure with the transmission before they would look at it. They referred to me driving on a four lane highway to a higher elevation as extreme driving conditions. [XXX] was built in 1930, which is they road they referred to as 'extreme'. From there, the manufacturer told me that they would cover 40% of the repair. To me, this indicates a known issue with the vehicle's transmission and CDF drum and requires a recall to be issued by Ford Motor Company. This is a known issue amongst many F150 owners, and a simple google search will show that many drivers have experienced this. This has been addressed by TSB 22-2428, but Ford should be responsible for manufacturing a defective product. I do not tow, do off-road activities, and I work from home. There is no scenario where my actions should cause this type of failure. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2020 Ford F-150 with 62,400 miles and a 10 speed automatic transmission. Transmission has failed! The truck is at Bill Brown Service in Livonia, Michigan. At 62,200, the transmission was not engaging and disengaging when ever it wanted to. This has happened several times and resulting in inability to drive and control the vehicle. This had happened previously over the past few weeks but only in a parking lot or the driveway. Now it is happening every time the vehicle is driven. Ford said the repair would be $3,500 to $4,500. They have offered me a discount and my portion would be $1,600. This truck has never towed a trailer, never had a hitch in the receiver and been offroad or barely on a gravel road. All maintenance has been done to this vehicle and was due for transmission fluid replacement. Ford should bare all of the cost for the transmission repairs and should recall this transmission before someone gets injured. I have the same transmission in a Ford Explorer that has had to be worked on two or three times now. Thank you for your consideration in this matter [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Problems started when towing, going down a hill, the truck down shifted as it should. Once the road leveled out, the truck would not upshift until you came almost to a complete stop and started over. Took it to the dealership and was told it needed new software. Paid for software and truck had a shutter after that while going up hills without towing. Took it back and dealer did not follow TSB, but instead put a torque converter in. Picked up truck and less than 20 while driving on the interestate at 70mph, the truck downshifted so hard it chirped the rear tires. Took it back to dealership and transmission was replaced. Picked truck up and drove it for a few hundred miles and started leaking transmission fluid out the vent (accourding to the dealership) Dealership is stating its my fault due to towing a small trailer with around 4k pounds total weights. On interesate at 60MPH, in tow mode, the trunk was running at 1700 RPM and all temp guages normal so no stress at all on the truck. Truck is rated at 13k plus towing. Dealer also stated that hauling horse feed also overheated transmission. The new transmission "clunks" when going from park to reverse. The turck still surges. Some days its fine, other days not so much. In my opinion, poor quality parts caused the failure of the first transmission. Current problems, in my opinion the problems are software. The engine at speed is barely above an idle and not optimized for the engine power or torque curve. The silliness of skipping gears is also part of the problem.

The truck lost power and the transmission was shifting erratically. Upshifting and downshifting and the engine revved up. A Warning Light came on as a transmission failure. I was driving in a construction zone without shoulders, so the experience was terrifying for my Wife and I when the transmission failed. There was an emergency turn off and I pulled my truck off the highway and looked underneath and saw the entire underside of the truck covered with transmission fluid. When the 10R80 transmission failed, the mileage on my 2020 Ford F150 was 66,195 miles. The powertrain warranty on the vehicle is up to 60,000 miles. Ford Motor Company and the Ford Dealer offered no financial help to replace the factory original failed 10R80 transmission. On September 20, 2024, I paid Front Royal Ford $8,756.13 for a new transmission and installation. My assessment is that the transmission failed when driving up a mountain for several miles at a steep grade. On [XXX], the new transmission installed started acting very erratically and the transmission disconnected from the engine and a total loss of power occurred. The transmission randomly started downshifting and upshifting. Transmission fluid leaked from the new transmission. The 2020 Ford F150 was put in the Service Department of Front Royal Ford, and they could not replicate the problem and told me to pick up the vehicle.

Driving at highway speeds and my truck began to shake violently and very loud banging sound. Slowed down to pull over on the highway. Found driveshaft broken in half with gas dumping out of the fuel tank. Broken driveshaft damaged heat shield for gas tank, punctured gas tank and dented/broke clips on exhaust. Very lucky back driveshaft didn’t hit pot hole and leaking gas didn’t start a fire. Stranded on side of road for hours. Sent my vin to the dealership and they said my was not under the recall #21S56 even tho it was built after known driveshaft issue and clearly the insulator caused the issue.

Transmission engages and disengages periodically as i slow down or come to a stop. Shifts erratically while driving from 6 gear to 4th gear , and when accellerating it hesitates from 2nd to 3rd gear, then shifts hard to 4th gear where i have to press on the brake to stop it. My concern is when it down shifts hard while in traffic, almost got rear ended one time. Just not safe to drive, ive have this truck for less than 5 months now. My 2020 Ford F-150 transmission is very bad. Since I bought it used, the transmission has shifted very hard, lurched, delayed engagement and gear slippage. I was told by Ford to bring it in and they would replace or repair for over $6000!! Everything I'm reading online is that Ford knows about this situation and won't do anything about it. I dont have a spare 6-8 thousand dollars that the dealership said it would take to "possibly" fix this issue! Something needs to be done and as a retired Atlanta Police department whos driven alot of Fords, this one is the worst ive ever experienced and I cant do anything about it. ITS NOT RIGHT.

While driving the vehicle going approximately 35 mph in heavy traffic the vehicle shifted to neutral without driver input as evident by +8000 rpms (bottomed out) and swift deceleration. No warning lights or indicators. No response when driver input to acceleration pedal. Vehicle would not shift into gear. After breaking to approx 15 mph Vehicle shifted VERY roughly w/no accelerator response and return to normal rpms. After waiting in neutral on the side for a minute accelerator response returned. hard and delayed shifting remained. Vehicle is currently being serviced by a ford dealer in Florida who relays no warning or trouble codes found - but recommended a transmission rebuild reference black fluid w/o leaks. Fluid was initially a quart and a half low. Transmission has an extended warranty and is getting replaced. 10r80 10 spd transmission with the EXACT same issue for the recent recall of a different year/ transmission model # by ford. Coincidence- I think not.

f150 EQUIPED WITH 4r80 10 SPEED TRANSMISSION. Starting several months ago, the vehicle started experiencing up shifts with hesitation during upshift, typically the mid gears. Starting from a stop, the shift from 1st to 3rd is very harsh and stutters. Condition has progressively gotten worse. While upshifting, I am now experiencing more exaggerated pausing/delays during mid gear upshifts. While entering a freeway, accelerated to merge with traffic and the transmission downshifted and there was an approximately 2 second delay in the shift which caused the vehicle to bog down substantially, nearly causing a following vehicle to impact my vehicle.

On the afternoon of [XXX], my son and his fiancé were driving home from college (Lamar University) when my sons 2020 Ford F-150 suddenly downshifted from 10th gear to 1st gear. This sudden unexpected downshift through them both violently forward in the truck and almost caused them to be rear ended by an 18-Wheeler. They immediately pulled off to the side of the Interstate ([XXX]) to gather their thoughts and inspect the truck. My son notified me of what had just happened and that he received a service engine warning on the trucks instrument cluster along with a notification on his cell phone of a Powertrain Malfunction. I suggested he try turning the truck off and restarting it to see if it would resolve the issue. He resumed driving home and experienced the same unexpected sudden down shifting from 10th gear to 1st gear multiple times as they continued their drive home. Fortunately, he was able to limp his truck back into town and immediately took it to Cook Ford in Texas City where we had purchased the truck. I met them at the dealership and my son reported the problem they had experienced on their drive home to the Cook Ford Service person and we left the truck with them to be diagnosed. On Wednesday March 26th 2025, Cook Ford called to inform my son and informed him that he needed a new transmission and that both his catalytic converters needed to be replaced for a cost of approximately $11,500. He asked them if these items were covered under warranty and they acknowledged an error in their quote and that the catalytic converters would be covered, but not the transmission. During the conversation the Ford Service person did acknowledge knowing of issues with the 10 speed transmission (10R80) but said there were no current recalls, nor were there any Ford Customer Satisfaction Programs for the trucks transmission. We are now waiting for a response back from Cook Ford with an updated and formal breakdown of costs for the trucks needed repairs. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION A

Erratic down shifts stalls at lights

Mar 24, 2025

On [XXX] I [XXX] started my truck and left my job at Publix Supermarket in Lake City, Fl. As I turned out of the shopping plaza, My 2020 Ford F-150 felt like it was about to lose power. As I turned into [XXX]. The truck shifted from the first gear, to the second smoothly, as the truck shifted from 2-3 , the truck revved and did not engage into 3rd gear. I let off the gas thinking it was going to catch the next gear and continue to increase speed. but it did not, again it revved and did not engage into 3rd gear. now the traffic was flying past me, i pushed the accelerator to the floor in attempt to avoid an accident. and not get rear ended. After several seconds , the transmission engaged and the truck began to move forward at a slow pace. This is when i received a notification for Ford Pass app, saying the power train malfunction/ reduced power. I was able to get the truck to the closest gas station. where I shut it off. After several minutes, I restarted the truck and drove back to work with no issues. The next day I took it to a local shop, where they indicated that I needed a new transmission. Since then, this vehicle has been in the shop multiple times for the same issue. This will be the 3rd Valve body replaced. Its unsafe to be on the road. Its a safety hazard. Since my initial purchase in 2020 I have had issues with the 10-speed transmission. The vehicle often shifts hard from gear to gear, banging harshly, and the vehicle pauses between gears while driving. While my vehicle was under warranty, I had the truck in the Ford dealers shop 5-7 times for that issue with no resolution. I even spoke with Ford back then about this and what happens after the warranty runs out. Even when I had my truck serviced (for my transmission) by another Ford dealership, I heard the comment "Oh yeah, it's the 10-speed transmission". Well, here I am, and my truck has consistently maintained the symptoms even after "repairs" were performed by the dealership, now the truck is so bad it is a road hazard for other vehicles by pausing, shifting out of nowhere, and such poor performance that I had to take it back to Ford and was told that the Transmission needs rebuilt...money out of my pocket that Ford should have fixed while under warranty. Will a rebuild really resolve the recurring issues??? While investigating this issue I found this this is a recurring topic on several forums and even your site lists numerous complaints of this known issue by many Ford owners experiencing the same exact same issues with this transmission. With the volume of complaints, how is this not a recall? Is there any other recourse for us?

Ford’s 10R80 Transmission is PLAGUED with issues. I own a 2020 Ford F-150 with the 2.7L V6 engine that has the 10R80 Transmission and this car has nearly gotten me in a T-Bone collision on NUMEROUS separate occasions. The transmission will slip as you’re first starting to accelerate, giving you zero control over the car and the RPMS will shoot up surpassing red line. This transmission is extremely clunky and downshifts extremely rough as well. This transmission is genuinely a safety concern when at intersections, accelerating from a turn etc. This transmission needs a recall IMMEDIATELY as I’ve talked to a LOT of other F-150 and other Ford owners that have the same 10R80 transmissions and have the exact same issues. This is a SAFETY CONCERN for ALL Ford owners with the 10R80 Transmission!!!

In March 2024, my F150 started hard/miss shifting. Between 3,4 & 5 gear. Ticket to Mount Ford dealer and they informed me the that the transmission need to be either rebuilt or replaced.I was informed parts to rebuild were on back order. Because Ford was having lots of issues with the 10R80 10 speed transmission. So I had to get a remanufactured one.

When the vehicle is cold, and the transmission has not yet warmed up, putting the truck into gear results in a significant jerk. Specifically: Initial Gear Engagement (Drive/Reverse): When shifting into either drive or reverse from park, especially when the engine is cold, there is a noticeable delay before the gear engages. This delay is followed by a harsh "jerk" or "thud" as the gear finally engages. Reverse to Drive Transition: When shifting from reverse to drive, a similar delay and jerk occurs before drive engages. Hard Shifting: In addition to the initial engagement issues, the transmission exhibits delayed and harsh shifting for several minutes when cold. Shifting is not smooth and seems delayed then shifts very hard and aggressively when driving during the warm up period. Clunking Noises: While driving, I intermittently hear clunking noises when the transmission shifts gears. This occurs at [ Mention the specific times or driving scenarios when you observe this - e.g., "low speeds," "during upshifts/downshifts," "when accelerating," etc. ]. These problems are most pronounced when the engine and transmission are cold and seem to gradually improve (though not completely disappear) as the vehicle warms up. I am concerned that these symptoms indicate a serious problem with the transmission. I have asked a Ford Dealer to look at this and they state that there is NO RECALL for my VIN #. They have always appeared since I purchased this truck.

MY SONS 2020 FORD F150 FELT LIKE IT WAS LOSING POWER. AS I TURNED ONTO HIGHWAY. THE TRUCK SHIFTED FROM THE FIRST GEAR TO SECOND GEAR SMOOTHLY, ASTHE TRUCK SHIFTED FROM 2-3 , THE TRUCK REVED AND DID NOT ENGAGE INTO 3RD GEAR. I LET OFF THE GAS, THINKING IT WILL CATCH THE NEXT GEAR AND CONTINUE TO INCREASE SPEED. BUT IT DID NOT, IT AGAIN REVED AND DID NOT ENGAGE INTO 3RD GEAR. NOW THE TRAFFIC WAS FLYING PAST ME, I PRESSED THE ACCELATOR TO THE FLOOR IN AN ATTEMPT TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT AND NOT BE REARENDED. AFTER SEVERAL SECONDS, THE TRANSISSION ENGAGED AND THE TRUCK BEGAN TO MOVE FORWARD AT A SLOW PACE. THIS IS WHEN I NOTICED ON MY FORDPASS APP, SAYING POWETRAIN MALFUNCTION/REDUCED POWER. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK TO THE CLOSEST GAS STATION, WHERE I SHUT THE TRUCK OFF. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, I RESTARTED THE TRUCK AND DROVE THE TRUCK TO WORK WITH NO ISSUES. THE NEXT DAY, I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP. WHERE THEY INDICATED THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHOT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OR REBUILT.

This is my second time filing a report with NHTSA. I purchased the subject 2020 Ford F-150 around October of 2023 from a Chevrolet dealer in Ohio. The vehicle had approximately 19,000 miles at the time of purchase and was covered under the OEM factory warranty. I began having transmission shifting problems as commonly associated with this model of transmission that resulted in a rebuild of the CDF drum of the transmission. I was traveling on [XXX] between Atlanta and the Florida line when my vehicle experienced erratic shifting and a catastrophic loss of power that placed me and my vehicle in peril. I was able to safely exit the highway to allow the engine to cool down, and I elected to limp the vehicle at low speed on back roads to my destination so the vehicle could be repaired. This was the first failure of my transmission. After several thousand miles of this transmission replacement I experienced a sudden and dangerous loss of power while operating the vehicle at highway speeds in traffic on [XXX] between Orlando and the Georgia line, with the transmission temperature spiking to at least 255 degrees Fahrenheit . The Ford dealer confirmed the issue and isolated the failure to the valve body, which they replaced under warranty. This was the second failure of my transmission. After driving the vehicle for several hundred miles, the vehicle experienced a similar loss of power while operating at highway speed while I was traveling on [XXX] headed toward Atlanta. A motorist entering the highway disregarded the posted yield sign thereby creating a traffic hazard which I very narrowly avoided despite experiencing a catastrophic loss of power under acceleration as I attempted to maneuver my vehicle away from the offending motorist's vehicle. This was the third failure. My life and safety have now been placed in jeopardy three times. What will it take for NHTSA to adequately address this issue to protect the safety of the public? Nov 25, 2024

I heard a weird noise last year and took it to ford. They ended up fixing the whole rear end, drive shaft, all components on the front end, They also replaced the whole 4 wheel drive system, and wheel hubs. last week I took the truck to have the pcm recall done. Once I left the transmission felt like it was slipping. I called them and they said that it is probably from the other issues I had to have fixed, and they would charge me 200 dollars to have this fixed. In the 4 years I have had this truck the whole drive train system will have to have been replaced. Ford needs to replace the transmission when they are fixing other drive train issues this is not safe when you are driving and then the truck will not shift gears

While driving on the highway the Transmission on the 2020 F-150 began to switch back and forth from 7th gear to 8th gear and then jump to 10th gear and all of a sudden drop to 1st gear causing a skid to happen. A orange colored wrench came on the dashboard after the skid took place. I brought the truck to the dealership where I bought it and and requested a new transmission be installed. This being the second time the trucks transmission is being worked on which only has 15K miles. The dealership is currently refusing to install a new transmission and want to only fix what they feel is required.

I am experiencing sudden deceleration when the gear suddenly shifted from higher gear 7, 8, 9 to gear 1 for only a few seconds then shifted back to gear 7, 8, or 9 again. This could happen at lower speed like 30s or 40s mph, or also happened at higher speed like 70s. It happens randomly. There are also other typical transmission issues like hard shift, will not shift into gear etc.. but the random gear shifting from high gear to low gear is the most serious issues. The local Ford dealership has attempted to repair the problem by check the valve body and update the software, but this did not fix the issues. The error message was appeared on the dashboard screen.

On [XXX] while attempting to take a trip to WV we were traveling on [XXX] nearing Waynesboro, VA. While driving up the mountain on [XXX] near the Rockfish Gap overlook I noticed our F-150 seemed to mis-shift or slip. As we’d experienced issues during a previous trip that required the transmission to be serviced under warranty I switched the display to the transmission temperature near 245 degrees. I attempted to put the truck in eco mode and slowed below the speed limit to the top of the mountain. While going down the west side of the mountain I left the truck in cruise. Past the [XXX] exit I noticed smoke which began to increase. I then checked the temperature again which reported 267 degrees. The wrench warning light came on indicating reduced power. I also received the notification on the Fordpass Application. The truck quickly slowed down and would not accelerate forcing me to hastily move to the shoulder in heavy traffic. We pulled over at stopped right in front of mile marker [XXX]. A large amount of transmission fluid observed pouring out from above the bell housing onto the exhaust. It appeared and smelled like it was possible to catch on fire so I did not park over grass, remaining on the concrete shoulder. After a dealer tech simply reset the computer and stated it was fine we drove the truck home, but did not feel safe or sure that it would make the trip. The transmission temperature remained below 220 the trip home but did have delayed shifts. The next day I had three incidents after exiting the interstate of a failure to find a gear for a moment as I attempted to take a turn. Our dealer that we trust has already completed two TSB actions related to the transmission. The other dealer cleared the computer and did nothing to repair the issue. They also attempted to charge me for a diagnostic fee, even though it’s under warranty and clearly had issues to include gear ratios being wrong and ECM/PCM and BCM communication failures. The transmission slips when giving it gas. I lose power when I excelerate Sometimes. Sometimes the truck excelerates when I'm not giving It throttle. Transmission jumps all over. The transmission seems to be very rough shifting back and forth

Sep 19, 2024

When the truck is trying to change gears, there would be a long hesitation before it can move up to the next gear while accelerating. The truck would sometimes lose power and speed while trying to find the gear. It would sometimes jump from gear 1 all the way gear 10 and then randomly bounce between the other gears before actually settling. At the moment it does find the right gear, the truck would launch forward violently. I took it to a ford dealership to be diagnosed, where I was told a new transmission is needed. I reached out to the manufacture regarding the issue and was told that there is no assistance for the issue. The quoted cost for the new transmission is $8400.00. I did some research and found that a lot of recent model Ford trucks a having the same problem with the transmission. Most report I read encountered the problem before 100000 miles. The truck is currently at the Ford dealer waiting to repaired. I find this is unfair to consumers to deal with an issue of this expense on what I consider to be a new truck.

My 2020 F150 transmission is having serious issues related to accelerating and decelerating, and rough shifting (causing jerking forward and backwards) which are now a major safety concern. The transmission gets stuck in gear, sometimes shifts from 4th to 1st gear, gets stuck in 7th gear, or will not shift out of 1st gear. Earlier this week with my wife driving the vehicle (with my children in it), it would not accelerate due to this issue and getting on the highway, she had to quickly pull over narrowly being missed by a cargo truck since the vehicle would not accelerate. I took over driving the vehicle, and I've observed the gear changing issues noted above and also had to pull off the road to avoid stalling the vehicle in the middle of a busy road. I've addressed these issues with Ford corporate, and their official position is that I have to have the issues diagnosed with a Ford dealer, which is telling me diagnosis is 8-12 weeks out. I don't know what else to do, but I am very concerned about the safety issues this is presenting

-10R80 Transmission began malfunctioning at 86,000 miles. Per Ford dealer, the shift strategy was cleared which did not resolve issue. Internal transmission failure was suspected and transmission was replaced. -From a complete stop, the truck would not want to shift from 1st to 2nd gear unless driver let off the gas causing unnecessary risk. From there, truck would shift extremely hard while under acceleration. Additionally, there were instances where truck would not downshift while slowing down to a stoplight. Truck remained in 7th gear at the green light and could only be moved by switching truck to manual shift. -Issue was verified by an independent shop along with a local Ford dealer. -Unsure if the component has been inspected by manufacturer as it was replaced by them. -No engine lights, codes, or other symptoms.

Started having rough shifting from 1st to second at 99k miles. Quickly progressed to 3-4-5 gears shifts. Finally couldn’t drive the truck in auto because it was having trouble finding/shifting into gears up to 60mph. I had two instances when driving in 8th gear around 55mph and the transmission randomly shifted to second. Caused the vehicle to lurch violently and over-rev the engine. I had several other instances when traveling above 60mph in 10th gear and the gear indicator flashed between 10th and first gear. Thankfully it didn’t actually downshift. Tried taking it to a dealership near me but they were backed up two months on transmission work. I wound up taking it to a local shop and they rebuilt the transmission. They found the typical c-d-f drum bushing failure that is common in the 10r80 transmissions.

At about 32k miles the transmission quit working properly. It would go into neutral randomly and then slam back in gear. Took it to Ford and they did a warranty TSB repair. Then at 54k it started doing it again almost causing me to be in a collision with on coming traffic. Once again Ford performed a warranty TSB repair. Just got it back and it still doesn't work properly.

My 2020 Ford F-150 truck was recently serviced with PepBoys when my ABS light came on and another message on the dash that said my brake system has a malfunction along with messages in my FordPass app. It was evening when this happened I immediately took it to PepBoys early the next morning. They took a look at it they thought it was a sensor for the brake area it was not taking so they tried again and it once again still said the same problem. They took a deeper look and checked all tires and came across the rear left side tire upon removing it they were shocked to see that the axel was riding only on the caliber, the lock that is supposed to be on the axel was there but just dangling it wasn’t properly on where it should have been. They let me know it’s something rare they don’t come across it was their first time and definitely could have been a safety issue and could have put my family and myself and other pedestrians around if my axel would have fallen off on the highway or anywhere. I was very concerned and do not feel my truck was put together properly. It’s only a 2020 and it’s my family vehicle it does not get driven heavy at all just for pleasure my axel should not be holding on by a string. People should feel confident in driving their vehicles. I have only had this truck for a year and a half it was bought at Shamaley Ford. I did report this incident to them but they don’t seem to care. I hope this will help anyone else having issues as I believe it could have been a major safely issue.

While driving the 4x4 feature wants to partial engage causing a grinding noise in front axle and when you let off accelerator it slows the speed quickly. At times only way to get it to quit is to stop and back up to make it stop. The problem is caused by loss of vaccum. This causes damage to the front brake rotors and drums and is a intermerminate problem and has been in shop before and reported numerous times.

On several very recent occasions, the above listed 2020 F150 has randomly shifted down to 1st gear from 10th while on the highway resulting in sudden loss of power and extremely high RPM. Had this occurred in heavier traffic, there is a likely chance this could have resulted in a serious accident because of the speeds involved. The symptoms experienced in this 2020 F150 do seem similar to the recent recall of some 2014 F150s experiencing similar events

10R80 Transmission issues with Ford F150. Many Ford customers in different US states have been experiencing the same transmission issues without Ford fixing them. My Ford truck has been experiencing rough, jerky gear changes and hesitation with acceleration over the past 4 years. The vehicle feels like it is sticking or slipping when the the transmission shifts. The truck has been taken into the Ford dealership for multiple inspections with the transmission. The transmission has been completely overhauled and Ford service advisories have been completed. Ford has not been able to resolve the transmission issue involving vehicles with 10R80 10 speed transmissions since 2017. The latest incident was an attempt to accelerate out of the way of an oncoming car from behind on the highway. The vehicle experienced a heavy jerk when accelerating to get out of the way.

May 30, 2024

The 10 R 80 transmission is unstable and can cause the driver to downshift to make up for a shutter in drive train. Ford calls it normal operation. Secondly, the adaptive cruise control shuts off in traffic. At times unknown to the driver. Very unsafe.

My Vehicle has 60,000 miles on it and my transmission slips and loses power between gears 3-6 when speeding up to get on the highway / merge. I have nearly gotten into countless accidents because of this problem. I have brought it to my local Ford Dealership’s attention 3 separate times now and they have offered me “software updates” that do not fix the problem. This is a major safety concern of mine and I have 4 years of payments left on this truck that will probably kill me one day in southwest Florida traffic. Ford continues to ignore the problem that everyone I know has with the 10 speed transmission and something needs to be done. It is criminal on their part knowingly ignoring us all

Dec 8, 2023

My truck was purchased new and has 43900 miles on it. I have had the vehicle into the dealer once already for the rear end/ transmission slipping. The dealer stated they “ completed a computer update “ and the problem was fixed. The update seemed to help a little, however six months later……issue seems to have returned and I’m seriously thinking there is a defective transmission installed on all the 2020 F150 crew cabs with the 2.7 liter engine.

Dec 5, 2023

The transmission failed and the vehicle completely shut down while I was driving down a 70 mph road. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk because my vehicle significantly decelerated on a 70 mph highway when the transmission failed. The dealer confirmed that the 3rd gear of the transmission is destroyed and then transmission needs to be replaced. The manufacturer has reviewed the dealer's findings and confirmed the transmission will need to be replaced. The light on the dashboard came on as the transmission was failing (maybe 5-10 seconds before the deceleration). Prior to that, I had no warning signs whatsoever other than some harder than normal shifting from time to time. I know the manufacturer has had significant issues with the 10-speed transmissions like the one in my vehicle. It is only a matter of time until the transmission on someone's vehicle gives out at the wrong time and someone is seriously injured or killed. Given the number of reported issues, it is time for the manufacturer to recall this part or extend warranty coverage for issues that may arise. It is a design defect with the transmission.

Unable to accelerate vehicle while driving on the freeway. The vehicle began making clucking sounds and jerking when trying to accelerate. You could feel vehicle shift harshly and was struggling to shift. While trying to merge onto the expressway, this became extremely dangerous when I was unable to accelerate. I was able to exit freeway and the problem stopped. A couple of weeks later while driving on the freeway the issue occurred again this time for a longer period of time, unable to accelerate another driver on the freeway flagged us down to inform us that smoke was coming out of the vehicle. We were not able to see or smell any smoke while inside of the vehicle. We were able to exit the freeway pullover and had the car towed to the Ford dealership. we are currently waiting for more information. This was extremely scary and could’ve been much worse. Luckily we were able to get off freeway and exit the truck.

When entering the passing gear, or automatically downshifting, the transmission shifts very rough. A sudden jerk. I’ve asked at the Ford dealership, but they say there is no recall on this. Another friend with an older model F150 experienced the same thing. The sudden jerk affects the stability of driving the vehicle. Especially when driving using cruise control. It does not feel safe.

It's under warranty and I took it to a Ford dealership in mid August and they said they can't look at it until September 18. The F150 was in a Park position while running in our driveway and lunged forward hitting our 2022 Toyota Highlander causing over $11,000 in damage on bother vehicles. ($1,428.69 Truck/ $9,000 estimate for Highlander). The vehicle was taken to Mooresville Ford on June 21, 2023 (earliest appointment available for this issue) to evaluate and repaired the transmission and transaxle. (Currently a class-action lawsuit was filed (Orndorff, et al. V Ford Motor Company concerning this same issue). We believe either this malfunction caused the F150 to unexpectedly lunge forward or another malfunction caused the F150 to lunge forward. We called Ford Headquarters and was told to file a claim with our insurance company. Very Unresponsive! We recently discovered a recall "where a partially seated clip may allow the transmission to be in a gear stated different from the gearshift position selected by the driver. this could allow the drive to move the shifter to Park and removed the ignition key, without the transmission gear actually being in Park. The vehicle could move unintentionally. (Article by Jimmy Dinsmore, April 7, 2020 in Torguenews.com). Also, in some cases the complainants have reported the gearbox slip and enter Park from Drive, stalling the engine. This issue has also caused the truck to lunge forward, causing unintended acceleration. (Article in Carhp.com March 9, 2022). We strongly believe one of the above named issues caused our vehicle to lunge forward causing over $11,000 worth of damage and would like to be reimbursed. We have had no luck with Ford and would like help from you.

My 2020 Ford F-150 with the 10R80 transmission has been involved in transmission failures on multiple occasions. The last 2 incidents nearly resulted in car accidents. I had complete power failure while moving through an intersection and was narrowly avoided by another vehicle that thankfully was able to steer clear of my decelerating truck. I would have been hit on the driver side at around 45 mph. my vehicle rolled to a stop after hitting the curb on the other side of the road. I then sat with the truck off for 5 minutes, then turned it back on, got power back, and drove straight to the dealership. Lights flickered on the screen indicators saying "Pre Collision off, wrench light on, and complete loss of the gear screen." Ford had the truck for 2 weeks and replaced the transmission wiring harness saying there was a loose connection. The day after I picked the truck up I was accelerating from a stopped position at a light. Around 7th gear and around 45 mph the entire truck suddenly downshifted into 1st gear with a loud bang causing me to launch forward. It almost felt like my truck hit something as I went from 45 mph to about 20 mph in one second. The vehicle behind me honked his horn, slammed on his brakes, and swerved around me into the other lane - another accident narrowly avoided. I pulled over shut the truck down, turned it back on and drove some 10 miles never going over 40 mph. The wrench light was on. The drive modes were unavailable. The gear shift screen was gone. I was not able to get more than 3,000 rpms while driving giving me very little acceleration. Ford currently has the vehicle again. I am terrified to get back in this truck. There appears to be NO SOLUTION to the problems and I simply can't risk my life or someone else's by taking a chance of driving this truck again. Ford knows there are transmission problems. They are unable to solve it. I do not know what to do as I still have $44,000 to pay it off.

My check engine light came on. Vehicle would not operate. Checked oil and it was down over 5 quarts of oil but I still had 2,000 miles until oil change was needed. Took to Hiller Ford with excessive oil consumption complaint. New oil dipstick, oil plug, oil change, and reprogrammed PCM. Returned at later date with same issue. Was told to monitor oil levels and sent on my way. Returned to Hiller at a later date with even faster consumption than earlier visits. Was told I had to pay for oil change and come back in 2,000 miles. At 1,000 miles engine sounded rough so I returned to Hiller Ford who agreed the oil was low. They topped off oil abs told me to come back in another 1,000 miles. 500 miles later I checked oil and barely appeared on the dipstick. I returned to Hiller Ford who agreed my truck was consuming oil faster than it should per Ford specs. Hiller kept my vehicle and ran compression test and then scoped my motor to observe damages. Hiller said that I needed a new motor and it falls under warranty and has been approved by Ford. They then followed up with the new motor would not be available for 18 months. I was told that no rental reimbursement allowance and that I'd have to operate my non conformity vehicle for 18 months. Operating this vehicle is unsafe and is prone to cause damage to other components of the vehicle. Engine could over heat causing its to seize or even start on fire. The increased emissions are not only bad for the environment but would decrease fuel efficiency and be very costly having to add a quart of oil every 500 miles.

After heavy rain storms in Colorado water started pouring through the passenger side floorboard of my vehicle. I pulled off the molding by the doors, the wires were buried in water, then I started getting a powertrain error. This is the second time that I have received the power train error, although the dealership is telling me that they cannot find a problem. I am also being told that TSB 19-2345 does not apply to my Vin although it seems to be ant least part of issue. My carpet is now musty and I cannot seem to get it to dry as the leak continues.

When I put my truck in gear from park it makes a loud banging noise. Also, my transmission makes loud noises when shifting into various gears. When using cruise control the other day the transmission violently jerked my truck as it was downshifting. I thought the transmission was going to break. I've taken it to the dealership multiple times and they say the transmission has "slack" in it. No fix for it while it. I have about 38,000 miles on it and this has been happening more frequently but it started at about 10,000 miles. No matter what driving mode I'm in the transmission just doesn't shift properly. Please do something about this as Ford doesn't think there is a problem when clearly there is.

while I was driving, all of a sudden I noticed no power was going to the engine, I pushed on the gas pedal and nothing happened. The truck stalled, I quickly pull over to a safe spot, and turn the engine off. Dash had lit up with "Auto Startstop feature needing me to put the truck in park and restart the engine" scary as it lost power while driving which thankfully I was able to pull over to a safe spot.

When putting vehicle in gear transmission makes a loud clunk when shifted from Park to Drive. Vehicle also makes loud banging noise when shifting, followed by a harsh jerk. When coming to slow stops does the same thing. Vehicle has 40,000 miles. It has been going on from the day I bought it. Was told this is normal which does not seem right. I have owned another 2018 F150 with 6 speed transmission and had no issues.

The truck has the 10 speed automatic transmission that doesn’t shift correctly it sticks in a gear to a high rpm then shifts really hard

Mar 10, 2023

Ten Speed transmission shifts very roughly and often has a loud cluck accompanied by vibration when shifting in the mid-range gears. Also will "lurch" when shifting gears under light acceleration

Mar 3, 2023

Gear shifting is harsh and erratic. Seems to be lower gears more than higher. Seems to occur more frequently when cold or recent start but is happening more frequently each passing week. Often shifting from P or R to D does not shift to 1st gear and when pressing accelerator engine revs like in N and then will Jenk into gear. Occasionally when at drive speeds will feel the gears not engage like in a passing or acceleration shifts very hard or misses gear with no forward acceleration.

Transmission failure. This truck has been at the local dealership since December 30, 2022 and had 3 transmissions installed. These are the 10 speed transmissions. The truck was shifting hard, accelerating on its own and sometimes had no power then started leaking transmission fluid to the amount of blowing white smoke from the rear of the vehicle. They have replaced the transmission, torque converter, and pump. The latest attempt to fix it is to replace the transmission cooler. Unknown at this time if that repair will resolve the issues.

Ford 10 Speed Transmission Problems Rough Shifting, sluggish gear changes, shifted gears randomly, and into neutral. Its a safety concern especially on freeways and highways.

Jan 4, 2023

The vehicle has an automated 10 speed transmission that hesitates, bangs, and, at times, jerks as it is shifting. On Jan 2, 2023, the vehicle paused in an intersection as if it shifted into neutral. While intermittent, the hesitation and bangs are more frequently noticeable while shifting occurs from 7th to 8th gear. I have also noticed hesitation and banging when the vehicle shifts from 4th to 3rd gear, but not as often as 7th to 8th. There have been no indicator lights or messages from the dashboard display indicating a problem. There are several articles, and some class actions suits regarding the same issues with respect to Ford's 10-speed transmission. My vehicle has not been recalled for this issue. I have called the dealership on Jan 4, 2023 to make arrangements for them to analyze the issue.

The 10-speed automatic transmission started to hard downshift into 3rd gear causing the truck to lunge forward, and then shutter in 7th gear causing the truck to slow down while driving without warning. That progressed to lunging forward while the truck was being started, and then finally began to shift from 10th to 1st gear without warning while driving both at typical street speeds and also highway speeds. Until this week, while driving on the highway the transmission went into neutral and would no longer engage. This is after a dealer reprogrammed to the computer and an "overhaul" of several components in the transmission. My safety was really put at risk when the transmission would shift from 10th to 1st randomly, and when the transmission stopped working completely while I was driving on the highway. The problem was reproduced while driving with the dealer shop foreman, and he confirmed with the service advisor that all gear and gear shifting was messed up and the transmission needed immediate repair. No dealers within a 40mile radius (South Houston) were available to perform the work, and I was advised to keep driving the truck until an appointment was available in several weeks. No warnings were present until the transmission finally stopped working. All previous paperwork for repairs completed to date are in the truck, which is currently being repaired again. When I get the truck back I can upload repair documents.

Transmission makes high whining / high pitch noise when accelerating at low speed from 3rd gear all the way to 8th gear (10 speed transmission). It occurs when at low RPM but has also occured when at higher RPM. During this high pitch noise, you can hear from 150ft away and is to the point where if it is constantly happening, windows cannot be down due to piercing noise. Noise can also be heard loud and clear through cab of truck when windows are up. I have real concern this could cause issues down the road on the transmissions longevity and durability. Tis nosie occurs from roughly 15MPH to 55MPH

I purchased my 2020 f150 5.0 4x4 in July 2022, I noticed the transmission having a slight change in shifting that that car salesman reassured me that it’s common with this year and model I took his word for it. Since than the truck and the shifting has gotten gradually worse from shifting to drive and into reverse the truck has slammed into gear on 3 occasions, up shift rough as well as down shift. My 2004 f150 has smoother gears and shifted with ease. I’ve contacted Omeara Ford of Thornton,Co where I purchased the truck from and there saying that they would need to get the truck into do a diagnostic and that their 3 months out. This doesn’t sit with me well as I’ve purchased the power train warranty and service contract and now if my truck brakes down I’m responsible?! I need to feel that my 50k truck is going to last and do what I need to do in order to make a living for myself and my family these 10 speed transmission need to be replaced in all the f150 newer models I am looking into the class action lawsuit

I was on the freeway going 65 mph on California I-80. I had my 2020 Ford F-150 on cruise control, and the transmission was in gear 10. Out of nowhere, the transmission jumped down to 2nd gear, and the truck jerked back instantly. I lost control and had to slam on the brakes and pull over to the side. I turned the truck off, waited 5 mins, and turned it back on. The Ford 10-speed transmission would jump from 2nd gear to 7th gear, then back to 1st gear. I had the truck towed into Frontier Ford in San Jose, CA. They found that the transmission gear blew apart inside the transmission bay. Ford replaced it under warranty; however, the issues are coming back again, harsh shifting, loss of power, and gear slipping. I feel unsafe driving my truck, and Ford keeps telling me nothing is wrong with it, and they can't do anything else. They already replaced the transmission with a brand new one; however, it still has the same issues. What should I do?

I have had problems with the truck since I purchased it. The first week I had it went a trip with my daughter to Oregon. As we were headed back to Montana my crash assist starting going off and there was no other cars or objects around. I took it to Helena, Ford when I got back. The cameras are constantly going out and the crash assist has been failing. My truck will be back in the shop after it gets out of the shop in missoula, Mt. It will be back at Helena Ford for another camera that has gone out which isn’t allowing me to parallel park and may be affecting the crash assist again. My truck is in the shop constantly for the transmission or cameras. I have been constantly telling them my truck is shifting hard. It’s also been having brake problems which they can’t figure out. The brakes have been making a horrible loud sound. I have had transmission problems since I have purchased this. It has been shifting hard and I’ve taken it in for this again and again. They did something each time to the transmission. They also did a recall fix on it. It still continued to shift hard. All information is at Helena Ford, Helena Mt. I had a tow system installed on my truck to tow behind my motor home. I had the system installed by a Professional at Speciality Iron Works in Great Falls, Mt. I had them hook it up to my motorhome and we went through the whole set up according to Fords manual to put it in tow mode to tow behind the motorhome. It said tow mode enabled. When I got to my destination that day it had messed up my transmission and they( Ford Lithia, Missoula, Mt) are saying tow mode was not enabled. Before even looking at my truck they said to be prepared to pay out of pocket because Ford has not been doing anything about these situations. I have a witness that it was in tow mode. He is the manager at the shop that installed my tow system Gary Adams 4064523672. Ford said they couldn’t accept him as a witness because he doesn’t work at a Ford dealership.

Transmission clunks randomly in various situations that are unpredictable. It will occasionally slam itself into a gear which is obviously creating an unsafe situation, especially when towing. Other times it can't figure out which gear it wants, creating yet more unsafe situations, especially when towing. Fuel mileage is excessive even for a pickup truck. After scanning with BlueDriver, fuel trim numbers are significantly out of range causing excessive fuel consumption and lack of power.

The road conditions were dry and clear, straight road, snow plow row to right, traffic light. All lug nuts tight and in place. ** I believe it is note worthy that Ford is taking responsibility by running axel failure through Warranty and body damage through General Council. They refuse to place this in writing, they are also urging that I let them run it through Sate Lemon Law, to me it sounds like they want to hide it. Another exact same failure at AutoFair Ford Manchester NH as of 3/31/2022 sounds fishy to me. ,

I was driving down the highway when my engine starting shaking so bad I could barely control the steering. I managed to get to the side of the road, and even in park the whole truck was shaking. Had to call a tow truck (cost $100) to take it to nearest Ford dealer. Rodents had chewed through wiring to fuel injectors and knock sensor ($1400). This was the second incident of rodent damage on the wiring of this truck. Mechanic said the soy-based wire coating Ford is using is irresistible to rodents. Insurance company said rodent damage claims on the vehicles using this type of wire coating are 59x higher than on other vehicles. This is a safety concern because of things like happened to me! I could have very possibly wrecked due to this shaking that was so violent. The other event caused my locking system to malfunction. I could have been locked in my vehicle! This is unacceptable. My previous vehicle (Jeep) was parked in the exact same location daily and never had a rodent damage incident. Ford needs to address this!!

Was traveling around 40mph and transmission gave out. Lost all power and seemed as if it was shifted into neutral. When looking at the gear selection it was stuck in 7th gear.

Jan 8, 2022

This appears to be a possible PCM relay failure or electrical system malfunction . This seems to be a documented issue out there on various websites and forums. I was with my wife and son when the vehicle started running extremely rough and lost nearly all power on a busy roadway. This caused a very dangerous situation for my family in attempting to get the vehicle off the main roadway. Multiple dash lights came on and the system advised of "park brake limited service required", "Hill assist not available" and "drive modes not available". After getting the vehicle off the roadway and parked, the vehicle stalled and would not start or run. I have not taken this to the dealer yet to determine the issue.

Every time I drive on the highway at speeds over 45+ mph and a load is on the engine and boost is 5+ psi, the truck shudders and shakes like an engine miss. I took it to the dealership 3 times for this and each time they say it is the transmission and it is "normal". Something is seriously wrong with it. It feels like the engine is going to let loose.

Dec 30, 2021

When manually shifting between gears the shifting is a very sudden jolt which results in startling the driver as well as all passengers. This also happens during simple driving around town while doing no manual shifting. Often times there is a delay in acceleration. This is not normal shifting.

Transmission lunges, shifts erratic, almost got hit entertaining highway

Jul 28, 2021

2020 F-150 Lariat w/ 10 Speed Transmission - 10,600 miles. Experiencing extremely hard downshifting, erratic rough shifting when in traffic. In normal traffic conditions on the highway, traveling 60mph, the truck downshifted from 8th to 7th, causing an extremely loud bang and jerk. This has began to be a regular occurance. These transmissions have serious issues with shifting. Ford needs to find a fix. My over $60,000.00 truck drives rougher than my riding lawnmower.

Jun 22, 2021

Transmission Shift Concern: While driving in town at low speeds and on the highway at posted speeds of 70 or 75mph, and even at take off from a complete stop, I am experiencing issues with how my 2020 F150 10spd transmission shifts. At times, during all of the above instances, shifting can be very rough and noisy, can be delayed causing delayed acceleration, and even when I start the truck, I sometimes here a clunk and the truck may even slightly lurch forward. **I have had two instances now of my truck hesitating in the middle of a highway at take off. After the first time, I immediately contacted the dealership. I took the truck only to be told it could not be duplicated. **When traveling at low speeds in town you feel and audibly hear the transmission shift and sometimes jerk. **When traveling at highway speeds, especially when on cruise control, and the truck downshifts from 10th to 8th gear, the sound of the shift has become audible and you feel it. At other times, the shift is smooth and functions as I would expect. **When starting the vehicle, there are times when you hear a clunking sound then the vehicle will slightly move as if it where given a slight push. I have expressed my concern to the dealership where I purchased the truck on more than one occasion. The first time I was told by the service rep that this is normal for the truck. The second time was when the truck stalled at takeoff in the middle of the highway. This time I was told to bring the truck in. I was called to pick my truck up the same day and told the issue could not be duplicated. Very few miles were put on the truck for "testing". I wish I had documented them. Today I called again as the shifting issues are getting worse. I was scheduled for an appointment July 21, 2021, but only after telling them this needed to be checked more thoroughly. I was first dismissed and told this was again, normal operation. **No service lights or warnings in the vehicle for this specific issue.

Jun 8, 2021

At approximately 9700 miles my truck has started malfuctioning and causing a safety risk. On takeoff the truck feels powerless until approximately 3 seconds after pressing the gas pedal. While crossing an intersection, I hit the gas which moved my truck forward very slowly in front of on-coming traffic but took approximately 3 seconds to start moving at the rate of speed a vehicle normally should. I could have been T-boned from this. The main issue I have noticed is while driving between 20 and 40 mph and giving enough gas to maintain speed, the truck starts jolting back and forth until I either let my foot off the gas or floor it. It also makes a clunking noise in the rear end while this happens. I called Ford and scheduled an appointment which was 4 weeks out and they just told me to "Take it easy driving it, it will be fine." This is not a once in a while issue, this happens every single time I drive my truck and does not go away no matter how long I'm driving it for.

MY BREAKS STOPPED WORKING FULLY. NO BREAKS AT ALL. NO POWER BREAK, SINCE IT'S ELECTRICAL OR SOMETHING. NO WAY TO STOP THE TRUCK. WHEN I TRIED TO PUSH THE GAS TO MOVE. THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE TRANSMISSION AT ALL. WHEN I FINALLY STOPPED. I TRIED TO FIGURE OUT THE ISSUES. SWITCHING SEVERAL OPTIONS AND MODES TO TRY TO FIND THE SOLUTION. CALLED A MECHANIC. NO CODES WERE GIVEN ON THE SYSTEM. HAD TO WAIT 2 HOURS FOR A TOW TRUCK. I'M A DISABLED VET, HAD TO WALK BACK TO MY HOUSE TO GRAB MY OTHER CAR, SINCE I DIDN'T KNOW IF THIS TRUCK WAS JUST GOING TO DECIDE TO TAKE OFF WITH ME IN IT. THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS ELECTRICAL AND BUGGY. SURE ENOUGH. BEFORE THE TOW TRUCK GOT THERE, I WAS WITH ANOTHER PERSON WHO HAD A SIMILAR FORD F150. HE WENT THROUGH SOME OPTIONS. WITHOUT TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR, THE TRUCK STARTED TO REV UP. WE QUICKLY WENT TO THE ENGINE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. IF THAT TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE ACTIVATED IT WOULD HAVE SMASHED INTO SEVERAL PEOPLE, CARS AND HOUSES. THEN THAT'S WHEN I LOOKED UP THE RECALL FOR THE 2020 F150 AND FOUND ALL THE INFORMATION I WISH I WOULD HAVE SEEN BEFORE THE PURCHASE. 365 MILES ON THE TRUCK. HAD IT LESS THAN 14 HOURS. FORD TEAM, ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 24TH I HAD A MAJOR SAFETY MALFUNCTION WITH MY 2020 F-150 I BOUGHT THIS PAST SUMMER IN MENOMONIE WI. DESCRIPTION ON THE INCIDENT: I PULLED MY TRUCK OUT OF MY GARAGE TO PULL MY ATV TRAILER OUT. ONCE THE TRAILER WAS PULLED OUT, I STARTED MY TRUCK BACK UP AND PROCEEDED TO PULL IT BACK INTO THE GARAGE. WHILE COASTING IN, I PRESS THE BRAKES TO STOP THE TRUCK AND THE ABS KICKED IN AT THE REAR TIRES KEPT DRIVING MY TRUCK FORWARD. I ENDED UP SLAMMING INTO MY WORK BENCH WHICH IS ATTACHED TO MY BACK WALL. I REMEMBER LOOKING DOWN AT MY PEDAL AND WONDERING WHY THE TRUCK WAS STILL DRIVING FORWARD WHEN THE BRAKES WERE PRESSED. I HAVE PULLED INTO MY GARAGE HUNDREDS OF TIMES AND THIS TIME WAS NO DIFFERENT. I KNOW WHAT THE ABS FEELS LIKE AND THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. THE TRUCK TRIED TO OUT POWER THE ABS AND DIDN'T STOP UNTIL I HIT. I HIT SO HARD THAT THE GARAGE SHOOK AND ITEMS WERE FALLING OFF MY SHELVES. THE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE I INCURRED WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF I WAS JUST COASTING INTO THE BENCH. TALKING TO A CO-WORKER HE STATED THIS HAD HAPPENED TO HIS DAD IN THE PAST AND SAID THERE MIGHT BE AN ERROR IN THE CODE, SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT STILL BEING IN HIGH IDLE AND THE ABS KICKED IN. IF THIS ERROR CANNOT BE DIAGNOSED I'M NOT SURE I FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS TRUCK ANYMORE. MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF ONE OF MY KIDS WERE IN FRONT OF ME. MY NEW 2020 F150 WITH 5.0 V8 TRUCK OVER CONSUMES OIL, ADDING A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. BROUGHT TO DEALER EVERY WEEK AFTER ABOUT 500 MILES AND THEY ADD AT LEAST A HALF QUERY OR MORE EVERY TIME. I BOUGHT IN OCTOBER 2020 AND IN THE FIRST MONTH I WENT THROUGH 4 QTS OF OIL.

BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW OCTOBER 2020 AND CHECKED THE OIL AFTER A MONTH HAVING THE TRUCK HAVING 1600 MILES ON IT AND THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. IT'S A 5.0 COYOTE V8. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND THEY ADDED 5 QTS OF OIL! THERE IS A TSB OUT WHERE THEY CHANGE PCM SOFTWARE AND REPLACE THE DIPSTICK. SHOULDN'T THIS BE DONE BEFORE I TOOK THE TRUCK HOME IF THEY KNEW ABOUT IT??

I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW FORD TRUCK XL. F-150 ON 8/23/2020.ON 8/23/2020. THE VEHICLE BROKE DOWN , AFTER A WEEK OF BEING AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY CAME TO A CONCLUSION BASED ON THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT THE VEHICLE WAS, ALLEGEDY STRUCK BY LIGHTING WITH NO VISIBLE MARKS THE FORD DEALERSHIP SUGGESTED THAT I SHOULD PUT A CLAIM IN THROUGH MY INSURANCE SINCE MY VEHICLE IS NOT A WARRANTY ITEM UNDER ACTS OF NATURE WHICH I DID. I THEN CONTACTED THE ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND HAD THE TRUCK TOWED ON 9/11/2020.AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPS AND OPENING A CLAIM THROUGH CORPORATE FORD AND THEN BEING DENIED I REACHED OUT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY AFTER THREE INDEPENDENT APPRAISAL'S AND NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS ALONG WITH EMAILS NO ONE HAS RESPONDED TO RESOLE THIS ISSUE , IT HAS BEEN ALMOST THREE MONTHS NOW WITH NO CONCLUSION AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY HAS DENIED MY CLAIM DUE TO THE INCOMPETENCE OF THE FORD DEALERSHIP.

THE GEAR WILL NOT GO INTO PARK AND ALLOW ME TO START. ALSO, THE DISPLAY INDICATES I AM IN THE WRONG GEAR DISPLAY SHOWS NEUTRAL BUT TRUCK IS IN DRIVE, DISPLAY SHOWS REVERSE BUT THE TRUCK IS IN NEUTRAL. THIS ALL HAPPENED AFTER BACKING THE TRUCK UP IN REVERS, STOPPING AND SHIFTING TO DRIVE TO PULL FORWARD AND IT WOULDN'T MOVE. THEN I COULD NO LONGER PUT IN PARK. THE ONLY WAY TO GET INTO PARK IS TO BANG THE GEAR SHIFT FORWARD FORCIBLY. THIS ALL HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF A HOTEL PARKING LOT. FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CALLED BUT THEY WERE USELESS WITH NO REMEDY.

AFTER 6 WEEKS OF OWNERSHIP AND 1000 MILES OF USAGE, I HAD A FEW EXAMPLES OF POTENTIAL TRANSMISSION ISSUES. FIRST I HAD A COUPLE OF EXAMPLES OF CLUNKS WHEN BEGINNING TO DRIVE IMMEDIATELY AFTER START UP. A COUPLE DAYS AGO I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE YET. AFTER PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT TO WAIT FOR A CURBSIDE PICKUP, I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. UPON RESTART, I SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND GAVE A LITTLE GAS AS I PULLED AWAY FROM SPOT GOING FORWARD. THERE WAS A LOUD CLUNK AND THE TRUCK JERKED BEFORE DRIVING NORMALLY. EVEN MY WIFE NOTICED AND MADE A COMMENT ON THE SEVERITY OF THIS INSTANCE. A LITTLE WHILE LATER, STILL DRIVING AFTER THE START UP FROM PARKING SPOT, I EXPERIENCED A HESITATION WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM STOP LIGHT AND SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE A QUICK LEFT TURN. AFTER TURNING, THERE WAS A NOTICEABLE HESITATION BEFORE RESUMING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. TODAY ONCE AGAIN I NOTICED A SLIGHT HESITATION PULLING FROM A STOP LIGHT THOUGH NOT AS SEVER AS LAST TIME.
