THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RECALL FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS RECENTLY REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING THE REPAIR COST TO HAVE THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUSE WAS REPLACED IN 2007; YET, IT CONTINUED TO LEAK. HE DOESN'T AGREE WITH HAVING TO PAY THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 118,000.

I RECEIVED A RECALL IN OCTOBER 2009 FOR MY FORD F-250 PICK UP (FORD RECALL 05S28) I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DEFECTIVE PART (SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH) CAUSED BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK INTO THE WIRING HARNESS AND FUSE PANEL DAMAGING BOTH TO THE POINT THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT FORD WOULD ONLY REPLACE THE BAD PART AND NOT THE DAMAGE IT CAUSED. FORD REPAIR TECH TOLD ME DEFECTIVE PART CAUSED DAMAGE DESCRIBED ABOVE AND AFTER DEALING WITH SEVERAL DIFFERENT PEOPLE FROM FORD AND CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY STILL REFUSE TO FIX THE DAMAGE ESTIMATED AT OVER $2000. I FILED COMPLAINT WITH BBB BUT THEY STATED THIS ITEM COULD NOT BE COVERED BY THEM AS THE VEHICLE IS OVER 3 YEARS OLD. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT THE VEHICLE FOR OVER 2 MONTHS AND CAN FIND NO AGENCY TO HELP ME. I TRIED SEVERAL FORMS OF RECOURSE WITH FORD TO NO AVAIL. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F-250. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED FROM THE REAR THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A LEAK. WITHIN SECONDS, HE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM A VENT AND UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. HE PULLED OVER AND HAD THE PASSENGER CHECK UNDER THE VEHICLE, WHERE HE NOTICED DRIPPING. THE PASSENGER PROCEEDED TO REMOVE THE CONTACT FROM THE VEHICLE BECAUSE HE WAS IN A WHEEL CHAIR. SECONDS LATER, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TWICE TO HAVE THE VIN CHECKED FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V336000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL), BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY WILL HAVE SOMEONE INSPECT THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNSURE IF THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WILL BE INVESTIGATED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 85,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F-250 SD. APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, IT BURST INTO FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND THEY STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE CRUISE CONTROL FUSE BOX. A FIRE REPORT AND INSURANCE REPORT WERE FILED. THERE WAS A JEEP CHEROKEE PARKED BESIDE THE BURNING VEHICLE AND IT TOO CAUGHT FIRE. THE DAMAGES WERE COVERED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THERE WERE NO PERSONAL INJURIES OR FATALITIES. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

AFTER HAVING SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THE FAILURE OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL OF MY 2002 FORD F250 CREW CAB DIESEL PICKUP TRUCK, I ASKED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER (JONES-WEST FORD OF RENO, NEVADA) TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEMS. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT ON THE DIESEL F250, THERE IS AN ELECTRIC GAS-PEDAL VS. ONE THAT IS DIRECTLY CONNECTED VIA CONTROL LINKAGE; ON MY FORD F250 THE ELECTRIC GAS-PEDAL WAS EXPERIENCING AN INTERMITTENT FAILURE. HOWEVER, BECAUSE THE DEALER??S SERVICE MANAGER COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM (OR ADMIT THAT HE DID), THE DEALER REFUSED TO COVER THE PART UNDER WARRANTY; A $ 100 PART FOR A $ 45,000, 6-MONTH OLD VEHICLE. FURTHER, BECAUSE THE TRUCK WOULD NOT GENERATE A COMPUTER CODE SHOWING THE EXACT FAILURE MODE, THE FORD DEALERSHIP WAS INCAPABLE OF DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM, AS THEIR TECHNICIANS ARE ONLY COMPUTER-READERS, YET THEY WERE AWARE THAT THE PROBLEM EXISTED BY THE DISCLOSURE THAT THEY HAD SERVICED 5 PREVIOUS F-250 TRUCKS WITH THE EXACT PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRIC ACCELERATOR-PEDAL WITHIN THE LAST FEW MONTHS. THE TRUCK OWNER PAID THE $ 162.89 TO THE JONES-WEST FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE NEWER VERSION OF THE GAS PEDAL INSTALLED AFTER THE JONES-WEST SERVICE MANAGER (BUD) REFUSED TO HONOR THE FORD WARRANTY FOR THE 11,700 MILE-OLD VEHICLE. APPARENTLY A LACK OF INTEGRITY STILL AFFECTS THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY NOT LONG AFTER THE FORD EXPLORER/FIRESTONE TIRE PROBLEM, WHICH LED TO 100 DEATHS. TS

ON DECEMBER 19, 2002 AT 3:30 PM, WITH THE ENGINE WARMED UP AND THE TRANSMISSION INDICATING NORMAL TEMPERATURE, AFTER HAVING DRIVEN FOR 1 HOUR-PROBLEM FREE, I WAS COMING TO A STOP SIGN IN MY FORD F-250 DIESEL CREW CAB TRUCK AT THE INTERSECTION OF PLUMAS AND MOANA LANE, IN RENO, NEVADA. AS I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN, IT BECAME VERY CLEAR THAT THE ENGINE WAS STILL ENGAGED TO THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE AS I SLOWED, THE DIESEL ENGINE BEGAN TO LUG DOWN AND JOLT THE TRUCK VIOLENTLY. THE ENGINE WAS ACCELERATING, BUT MY FOOT WAS OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND ON THE BRAKE. TO STOP THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION, I SLIPPED THE TRANSMISSION INDICATOR INTO N FOR NEUTRAL AND THAT STOPPED THE ACCELERATION THEREBY PREVENTING A FRONT-END COLLISION AND AFTER A FEW MOMENTS THE ENGINE STOPPED RACING. AFTER A MINUTE OF IDLING, THE TRUCK WAS PLACED BACK IN D FOR DRIVE, AND THE TRUCK DROVE NORMALLY. I TOOK THE FORD F-250 TRUCK TO JONES-WEST FORD OF RENO, NEVADA TO HAVE THE PROBLEM LOOKED AT. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE ELECTRIC GAS PEDAL, BUT BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THE SERVICE MANAGER, A BUD, REFUSED TO HAVE THE ELECTRIC GAS-PEDAL REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. I LATER LEARNED FROM MY SERVICE ADVISOR AT FORD THAT THIS WAS DONE DESPITE HAVING RECEIVED LIKE CONSUMER COMPLAINTS FROM FORD F-250 SERIES TRUCK OWNERS CONCERNING THE ELECTRIC GAS-PEDALS. TS

ON DECEMBER 13, 2002, AT 5:00 PM, IN A SNOWSTORM IN RENO, NEVADA, FORD F-250 DIESEL CREW CAB WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT; TEMPERATURE WAS 35 DEGREES, TRUCK WAS IDLING NORMALLY; THE ENGINE WAS WARMED UP AND THE TRANSMISSION INDICATED NORMAL TEMPERATURE. UPON RECEIVING A GREEN LIGHT, I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE BUT THE DIESEL ENGINE WOULD NOT RESPOND TO COMMANDS FROM THE ACCELERATOR-PEDAL. AFTER REPEATED, PUMPING THE ACCELERATOR I WAS ABLE TO GET SOME ACCELERATION FROM THE ENGINE TO CLEAR THE INTERSECTION; 20 SECONDS LATER, THE ACCELERATOR RESPONDED NORMALLY. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER BUT BECAUSE THE INTERMITTENT FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED, THE FORD DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT REPLACE THE ELECTRIC GAS-PEDAL DESPITE HAVING CHANGED 5 IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS IN SIMILAR F250 TRUCKS. MILEAGE OF TRUCK 11,700 MILES. TOTAL TIME SINCE PURCHASED 7 MONTHS.
