THE FIRE DEPARTMENT INFORMED THE CONTACT OF A RECALL FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH FOR HER YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLE, WHICH COULD CAUSE A FIRE. THE CONTACT DOES NOT KNOW IF THE VEHICLE IS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 190,000.

NOTICED SMOKE BILLOWING OUT FROM UNDER THE BACK OF THE TRUCK AND IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WITHIN SECONDS THE CAB WAS FILLED WITH BLACK SMOKE AND THE FLAMES BROKE THROUGH THE DASHBOARD. THIS HAPPENED SO FAST THAT THERE SEEMED TO BE NO FIREWALL BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. THE FIRE WAS SO HOT IT MELTED PIECES OF THE TRUCK, AND THE TIRES.
CONSUMER BOUGHT A USED VEHICLE. LATER, FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS LEAKING OIL/THERE WAS NO CATALYTIC CONVERTER/ BRAKES SHIMMIED, AND SMOKE CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD.*AK
VEHICLE PARKED. VEHICLE HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE FOR NO REASON, AFTER 8 HOURS IN GARAGE & 4 FEET FROM GARAGE. FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED & PUT FLAMES OUT. CHIEF INDICATED FIRE ORIGINATED IN STEERING COLUMN. VEHICLE DECLARED TOTALED. *AK
DEFECT IN THE TRANSMISSION SINCE THE TRANSMISSION CASE HAD RUN OUT OF OIL AND THE GEARS LOCKED DOWN WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HWY, CAUSED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, DUE TO NOTHING ON THE TO INDICATE LOW OIL.
WHEN VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY WITH IGNITION OFF IT CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE STEERING COLUMN. MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH MELTED. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP. *AK
ELECTRICAL SHORT, THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTING THE HEAD LIGHTS OVERHEATED, CAUSING A DASH FIRE. *AK HEADLIGHT SWITCH FAILURE RESPONSIBLE FOR HARNESS CATCHING ON FIRE.*JB
