The contact owns a 2014 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH and attempting to change lanes, the contact felt a small bump. Shortly afterwards, the vehicle started to wobble violently, almost causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle due to the increased steering effort. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway to inspect the vehicle, but found no cause for the issue. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 116,668.

2014 ford f250 super duty 6.7 diesel. Coming down mountain in Arizona (bumblebee pass) hit small bump. Truck began violently shaking in the “death wobble mode”. Later I was just driving on the freeway and hit a small bump at 70 mph (75 mph zone), again violent shaking that did not stop until I was driving 50 mph. Since I’m leaving on cross country trip soon, I opted to take vehicle to mechanic. It is there now. This is because there is no recall on 2014 ford for this issue and I don’t have weeks available to fight with ford. have learned today that this is very common across the county and has been reported to ford motor company but the company is denying their liability to fix this very dangerous issue! My vehicle symptoms are exactly what there have been numerous complaints about. I will be sending the bill to ford.

vehicle shakes uncontrollable on the front passenger side when driving over 50 mph. took to the repair shop and was diagnosed with the death wobble. told it's unsafe to drive until repaired and repair will be over 1,600.00

Vehicle wobbles violently on highway when it hits a bump. Had several near collisions. There were no warnings, happened suddenly.

Death wobble at speeds greater than 46 mph. I have to come to a complete stop to make it stop. I almost got rear ended by a semi before I could get off the interstate on the shoulder. My vehicle is a 2014 but I have experienced this several times since I bought it new. Took it to my local ford dealer to see if they can do anything to fix it. It’s really dangerous when it happens on a busy interstate. The front end sounds like it’s coming apart and steering is impossible when it happens.

I have had this truck for 7 years and bought it with 35k. It now has 150k.This week ([XXX])I finally experienced the notorious “Death Wobble” at 60 mph in Atlanta, GA with my wife & daughter in the truck. This is a very scary situation when you’re going down the road with traffic behind you at 70 plus mph and the steering wheel starts shaking violently after going over a bump on the highway. I feared that we were going to be in an accident at that time. I was defenseless at that moment and in the middle lane of a major highway. I don’t understand how long this has to continue until a recall is considered or FORD is held liable for a problem they have been aware of going back as far as the 2011 model year. I would love for you to see the dash cam footage I have , so you could see what my family and I experienced. Driving 65 miles per hour on the freeway and front end started shaking and wobbling horrible, could have caused an accident it was sudden and violent. Pulled over to verify tires were okay and they were. Couldn’t drive over 50 MPH without the wobble starting again.

The Ford Death Wobble. I was driving down the highway at speed and hit an overpass expansion joint and the truck started violently shaking and I had to slow down and get in the center median against the concrete barrier to get it under control. Once I got it under control and got back on the highway I moved to the slow lane and a couple of miles down the road I hit another expansion joint, and it did the same thing. This time there was an exit ramp coming up and I took the ramp to slow down to get it back under control. We had just had it at the local Ford dealership and had the suspension all changed to new from OEM. New tie rods, steering damper, and most of the other suspension parts to fix the issue. They said that should fix the problem. It did not fix the problem. Now it is back at the dealer, and they are saying that it "could be a couple of other parts" and it will be an additional $600.00 to have them replaced after we spent $1600.00 the first time it was supposed to be fixed. Why is it that Ford and the other manufactures that have this issue have not fixed the problem. This has been going on for years and the same issue. Also, why have they not issued a complete recall on these trucks to fix the issue? My truck is not part of the recall at all, and it is doing the same things as the ones that are on the recall. This makes no sense. If it is a known safety issue and it is a manufacturing defect, then there should be a recall. Is it because no one has died as a result of this yet? Or are they just waiting until someone does before they do something about it? This is absolutely insane to me. My wife will not drive the truck and that is who it was purchased for. We also bought it to haul our horses and she will definitely not haul her horses with this truck. She will continue to use the 1999 F250 that does not have this issue. I need some resolution to this and I would like to be reimbursed for the money that we spent to fix the problem that didn't fix it.

December 24th at approximately 1100 hr. Driving normally on the Garden State Parkway Southbound approaching exit 98. The vehicle instantaneously began to shake out of control. I was able to keep the Vehicle in the travel lane and was able to pull over to the shoulder. I Vehicle pulled over to see if I was ok and explained the truck was front tires shaking violently. I did a pulmonary check under the vehicle any everything looked in order. I followed up with a local Mechanic who informed me that this was a common issue with these vehicles that was called the "Ford Death Wobble" and suggested that i take it to a specialist who deals with the suspension. I followed up with R&H Spring and Truck repair, 4806 W Hurley Pond Rd, Wall Township, NJ 07719. R&H is familiar with the issue and the Vehicle is currently scheduled to be diagnosed. The recommendation is to change most of the front end because no one issues causes this to happen. The vehicle has less that 44, 000 miles on it and clearly a design issue. I have been In law enforcement for 30 years and have never experienced anything like this. I have been trained in all types of advanced driving course throughout those years. Fortunately I was driving at the time rather a less experienced driver. I am not requesting anything other than the issue be addressed to protect the public. Unfortunately if not addressed loss of life will occur. Respectfully, [XXX] I am not requsting anything other than that INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Traveling about 67 mph. Hit a bump on the road. Truck started shaking violently.Lost control of truck and entered ditch. No other vehicles involved. Had to use 4 wd to get onto road. Has done this couple times before but not to this extreme danger.

Death wobble occurred randomly at about 40mph. Driving through mountains, slowed down and pulled off to the side to avoid putting others in danger including the passengers in this truck. There were not any warning lights/alerts from the truck prior to this happening.

Death Wobble. I did not know this was a thing until it happened to me and I found out its been a problem on Ford Trucks for over 15 years. My entire truck including the steering wheel shook violently on 5 different occasions. I'm scared to drive my 100K truck now. I brought to dealership thinking it came from them working on my truck and they informed me that this has been a issue that Ford refuses to recall and there's been multiple lawsuits. They suggested I file a complaint with this Org.

Horrible death wobble. Entire front end has been rebuilt and the truck is still experiencing the death wobble.

Jun 16, 2023

While driving down the highway at 75 I hit an uneven bump in the road and the vehicles front end started to vibrate and quickly became violent shaking of the trucks front end causing me to lose control of the vehicle and almost cause a major multicar accident on the interstate. I ended up almost hitting the guard rail on the side of the road but everyone was ok. I thought the whole front end came apart and had to get out of the vehicle on the side of the interstate to inspect the front and upon doing so almost got hit by a passing vehicle. After researching this problem I found thousands and thousands of complaints on f-250s for this same issue. It is unbelievable nothing has been done to remedy this problem when it seems it has been a known problem for many years. Thank God I didn't but If I would have got hit by the passing car and died my wife and children would have been fatherless because of negligence on Ford and them absolutely knowing about this problem and doing nothing about it. In the end my family would have lost a husband/father because he bought a Ford. That is just insane to think about being a reality. Why is nothing being done about this? Is Ford paying off the NHTSA to not demand a recall on these trucks? There are thousands and thousands of complaints on this site for this issue. How many does it take or does it take a certain number of deaths before it matters? Please someone do something about this!

On two different occasions while driving on the highway ( approximately 60 to 65) when I passed over an expansion joint the steering wheel and entire truck started to shake violently and out of control - it was like it hit some harmonic balance and would not stop until I got hard on the brakes and slowed down to approximately 35 mph. ( not fun to do in the fast lane of a highway) this happened two times once in Feb 2023 and again in June 2023

Mar 21, 2023

My 2014 F250 is also experiencing a death wobble like many other ford f250 customers already reported. The steering and front wheels shakes abruptly when driving on uneven roads on highways unexpectedly. This happens between 60 to 75 miles on highways, and I need to reduce the speed drastically to regain the control of the vehicle. This sudden speed reduction can cause back-end collisions and ford does not have any safety recalls on this issue as far as I know. This happened to me multiple occasions on same uneven roads and i tired to avoid those uneven areas these days.

I was Getting on I-95 N from Benson, NC with speed limit of 70mph. While I was still accelerating and just merged in traffic, going about 65-70mph, my 2014 F250 started doing the death wobble. The section of highway I was on has no shoulder or anywhere to pull off because they are doing construction on the shoulder and have concrete blocks maybe 6inches past the line. So I had no choice but to put on my brakes hard and slow down until the shaking stopped, which was bout 15-20mph. I’m very lucky I wasn’t rear ended or in an accident because of the death wobble. My 12 week old baby girl was also with me in the truck at the time

On 1/27/2023 at approximately 1215pm I was driving my 2014 Ford f250 Diesel on route 743 between Hershey PA and Elizabethtown PA. I was going about 55 mph I was going on a right curve and hit a small bump in the roadway. My truck began to violently shake and I feared that I was going to wreck and lose control. One this happened this death wobble accorded 4 more times within the next 20 miles.

The issue is the Ford Death Wobble. It has happened to me four times now in the past two months. The first two times, I was not sure what it was. After the third, I called my local Ford dealership and informed them. They scheduled a time and I was to bring it there. The day before I was supposed to bring it, it did it again. The first time it happened, I was driving 70mph on a 65mph highway, going over a bridge when the truck started to shake profusely causing the steering wheel to jerk left and right. I had zero control over the truck. I began to slowly mash the break while being violently shaken and bounced around for a hundred yards, bouncing in and out of my lane. Luckily, there was no traffic at this time and I stopped without harm to any individual. I chalked it up to a scary incident and went about my business. Second time I was going over a bumpy road at 55mph when again, the truck began to violently shake and bounce out of control until I could get it to stop in the ditch on the side of the road. After taking it to a Ford dealer, they informed me of a few things that needed to be done and replaced, which we did. Four days after getting the truck back and “fixed” I was hauling my trailer and equipment for work when going 45min over a bumpy road, the truck began to again, violently shake and bounce until I could come to a stop. I took it back to the Ford dealership and they now recommend replacing all wheel bearings and damper assembly. They assured me the first time, the problem would be fixed. Have already spent $2,300 on them attempting to fix it and now they are recommending another fix of over $1,800 but now telling me, “it might not fix the issue.” I have a family. I am terrified I am going to harm myself or another individual while operating this f250. Ford wants me to dump money into a problem that they are aware of but refuse to make right. This issue, if not fixed, could kill myself or another individual or seriously harm someone.

Jan 2, 2023

I was driving on the highway over a bridge and the truck started wobbling uncontrollably when I hit 55. The scary part is you couldn’t really control the vehicle when it was wobbling like that. So the next day we went and bought me shocks for the front and back and it’s doing this.

Driving at 55 mph and hit small bump in the road and front end started shaking violently. Had to come to a complete stop to get it to quit

Dec 27, 2022

The truck developed a "death wobble" about a year ago. Over the past year the death wobble has happened almost every single time we have drove it. We have had multiple diesel mechanics look at it numerous times. We have replaced all the tie rod ends, drag link, steering stabilizer, track bar and track bar bushing. When the truck starts shaking, the driver has to immediately engage the breaks, running the risk of being rear ended and risking losing control of the truck. No warning lights have displayed throughout this time. The shaking has happened when driving between 35-55 mph, while the truck is alone and also once while pulling a horse trailer, loaded with horses- posing severe risk to the horses and passengers in the truck. The truck is available for inspection if need be.

Everyone calls it's the ford death shake. It is very dangerous and after reading online there is several having the same issue you lose complete control of your vehicle when it happens hit a pot hole bump in the road or going over 50 mph I have wrecked my truck due to this issue and it seems thousands of people are having the same issue it is going to end up injuring someone very badly or taking someone life or others this is a big safety issue! And needs to be addressed and ford take responsibility

Sep 15, 2022

The truck is scheduled to go in to a Ford Dealer Sept 27, 2022. The steering became unmanageable changing lanes at 50 miles an hour. I was almost impossible to controll the truck due to uncontollable shaking. If someone had been beside us we would have crashed. I am afraid to ride in the truck because there isn't any warning this is going to happen. I was literally scared to death. From my research it is called the death wobble. Consumers should not be responsible for paying for repairs for defective equipment they didn’t cause. And, most importantly, truck owners should not have to worry about potentially being injured or killed in an accident or harming someone else. this has happened several times with my husband when I wasn't in the truck and I had no idea how serious it is.

While breaking quickly due to another group of vehicles suddenly breaking, my truck began to shake violently similar to symptoms noted in the repeated reports concerning death wobble. My tires have less than 10,000 miles and the truck has had the alignment checked in the last 12 months. It is important to note that the steering shook so violently that it came out of my hands. This could have caused a major accident or worse for a less skilled motorist.

I experienced the death wobble in a 2014 F250 while driving 60-65 mph on highway through Memphis. Wobble initiated by hitting a pot hole.

UNKNOWN! This is the 2nd Ford F250 that I've purchased brand new. I had no clue what the issue was until visiting with fellow Ford F250 owners. Low and behold, the "Ford Death Wobble". I don't understand WHY there has NOT been a recall on this before now. After researching, I've learned there was even a class action lawsuit filed against Ford in 2019! What on earth is wrong with FORD?! I love my truck, but not enough to continue buying a Ford product knowing this is an issue that they don't want to fix!!! I'm so glad I was informed by friends with the same issues and know it's not just "an alignment" issue! Shame on you Ford for refusing to address or acknowledge this issue!!!!! I pray that I don't have an accident due to the "death wobble" that the Ford trucks have.....but at least it is documented that I have the same issues that over 1200 other Ford truck owners have experienced and complained about......I wonder how many others are out there that don't know it's called the "death wobble" and they keep returning to have it repaired! I noticed this incident with my truck in 2015! How sad that it took nearly 7 years for me to discover the real issue!

My 2014 Ford F-250 started developing a Death Wabble when on rough highways doing over 45mph. Three or four times I took it to Ford service Tucson at 22nd street and technician changed steering box, ball joints and generally looked it over. The other day the Death Wabble was every 5 miles on highway 83 which is a little rough but no potholes. Took the truck in yesterday and they couldn’t find a problem. Please be advised when this happens the truck is out of control. I need to hit my brakes to about 25 mph and the shaking then stops.

Feb 9, 2022

Vehicle drove over small pothole in high speed lane at mile marker 22 on nb i-75, north of cincinnati, lost steering control when vehicle shook side to side violently, had to pull off left sholder, slowing down to 10 mph to regain control. traffic had to avoidme, almost rear ending my vehicle. Speed was apx 70 mph at time of incident, i was in fear for my life. I just had vehicle inspected by certified mechanic, spent 1400 dollars on front end parts replacement and the vehicle continues to do this, must be a design defect and not just a parts wear issue that the cronin ford dealer in harrison ohio stated. this vehicle needs to be recalled by ford before somebody gets killed.

AS I AM TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD, USUALLY BETWENN 50-70 MPH AND I GO OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE STARTS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY TO THE POINT THAT IT IS ALMOST UNCONTROLABLE. STEPING ON THE BRAKE SLOWS THE TRUCK DOWN BUT DOES NOT STOP THE SHAKING. IT APPEARS THAT THE TIRES SHAKE BACK AND FORTH, AND THE ENTIRE TRUCK, ESPECIALLY THE FRONT END, SHAKES BACK AND FORTH VERY VERY VIOLENTLY. I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS CONDITION MAY BE CALLED THE "DEATH WOBBLE"

Nov 15, 2021

I experienced a vibration in the front steering and suspension of my 2014 F250 Lariat Super Duty 4X4 after hitting a bump in the road. I was traveling between 45 – 50 miles per hour, hit a bump that cannot be avoided in my lane. On October 28, 2021 after hitting the bump as described above, it started vibrating so violently in the front end I had difficulty controlling it and keep it in my lane to slow it down to about 15 miles per hour to stop the shaking from the front wheels. In all my years of driving, I have never experienced anything like this. I carefully checked my F250 for lose wheels or front-end suspension and slowly drove another 4 miles home and checked it again. Please note, my F250, VIN ID [XXX] only has 54,797 miles on it with 99% being highway miles. It has not been abused and has been regularly serviced by Ford technicians since it was new. I searched the internet to find out what may cause the violent vibration in the frontend and discovered the term for it is “The Death Wobble”. Therefore, on November 2, 2021, I made arrangements with Vancouver Ford located at 6801 N.E. 40th Street, Vancouver, WA 98661 to check out my F250 to determine the cause of this dangerous violent vibration in the front end after hitting a bump driving down the road. Vancouver Ford technician diagnosed the problem as the steering damper and recommended replacement. I authorized the replacement which cost $310.40. Replacing the steering damper is just a band-aid and it will happen again in a few months. What is Ford doing to resolve this that is better than the band-aid. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I own a 2014 Ford F250 Crew Cab 4X4. I have had the "Death Wobble" happen 3 times in the past 4 months. Each time happened while I was driving over 50 MPH on the highway. It feels like the truck is going to fall apart. When it happens I have to slow the truck down to almost a stop to get the wobbling stop. Having to quickly slow down on a highway that is 80 MPH is not only dangerous to myself and my passengers, but to everyone else on the road. There is no warning that it is going to happen, the truck just starts violently shaking. I have not had anyone look at the truck. I rodeo and haul my horse all over Texas with this truck. I am scared to death it will happen while I am pulling my horse trailer. I have no idea what to expect when/if that does happen. How will my trailer respond to the violent shaking? How will my horse respond? I truly believe this issue needs to become a recall from Ford and that they should pay to have the issue fixed. People will get hurt and it could easily cause death to anyone on the road, even if they aren't driving the truck having the Death Wobble.

Nov 10, 2021

While driving 85 MPH in an 85 MPH zone near the 9900 blk of N SH 130 NB a bump in the left hand lane sent the truck into a violent shake. Reducing speed did little to resolve the death wobble. Luckily no traffic was around allowing me to slowly reduce the speed and bring the vehicle to a stop on the shoulder. Only stopping made the violent wobble stop. Immediately drove to the tire shop and replaced with factory tires. Will have the vehicles front suspension checked by a certified technician.

HITTING A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEED (55+ MPH) CAUSES THE FRONT END TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AS IF THE FRONT TIRE HAS BLOWN. STEERING BECOMES DIFFICULT AS THE FRONT END SHUTTERS. SLOWING WELL BELOW HIGHWAY SPEED BRINGS IT BACK TO A CONTROLLABLE STATE (HAD TO PULL OVER AND COMPLETELY STOP ONCE). EFFECT IS WORSE AS SPEED INCREASES, ABOVE 70 MPH IS NEARLY UNRECOVERABLE.

AT SPEEDS OVER 50 MPH SEVERE SHAKING OCCURS AND THE TRUCK BECOMES UNCONTROLLABLE UNTIL SPEED IS REDUCED TO BELOW 45 MPH. THE TRUCK'S STEERING DOES NOT RESPOND AND CANNOT CONTROL THE TRUCK. AT THIS POINT I CAN ONLY DRIVE THE TRUCK AT SPEEDS AT OR BELOW 45 MPH. THE ISSUE OCCURRED ON A HIGHWAY DURING THE DAY. AMBIENT TEMPERATURE WAS 52 DEGREES AND THERE WAS NO RAIN. THE ROAD AREA I WAS TRAVELING THROUGH WAS KNOWN FOR UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE AND COULD CAUSE SOME SHAKING IN THIS TRUCK AND IN OTHER VEHICLES I'VE DRIVEN BUT NEVER TO THIS EXTREME. THE SEVERE SHAKING STARTED WHILE THE TRUCK WAS AT 65 MPH (70 MPH ZONE) AND BRAKING ALSO BECAME DIFFICULT. I HAD TO KEEP OFF THE GAS AND LET THE TRUCK SLOW ITSELF TO A STABLE SPEED THEN I EXITED THE HIGHWAY. THE TRUCK IS A 2014 FORD F-250 WITH APPROXIMATELY 109400 MILES ON IT. THE AUTO SHOP I WILL TAKE IT TO TOMORROW SAID THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS AND THAT I SHOULD REPORT IT.

I WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPH TRUCK STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO US WHILE DRIVING THIS TRUCK. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE GOING 30MPH. IT IS VERY SCARY AND FEELS LIKE THE TRUCK IS GOING TO FALL APART. WE JUST BOUGHT THIS TRUCK LESS THAT 60 DAYS AGO AND THIS HAS HAPPENED 5-10 TIMES. WE HAVE ALSO MADE A COMPLAINT THROUGH FORD MOTOR AS TO WHAT WILL BE DONE WITH THIS ISSUE. WE HAD OUR LITTLE GIRL IN THE TRUCK AND SHE BECAME VERY AFRAID OF DRIVING IN THE TRUCK.

WHILE DRIVING, I EXPERIENCE A SEVERE AND HORRIFYING 'DEATH WOBBLE' IN MY STEERING WHEEL, AT WHICH TIME THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF MY TRUCK VIOLENTLY SHAKES. IT BECOMES DIFFICULT TO CONTROL IT AND FORCES ME TO APPLY MY BRAKES IN ORDER TO REGAIN CONTROL. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT 8 MONTHS AND HAPPENS OFTEN. IT HAPPENS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. NOBODY APPEARS TO KNOW HOW TO FIX IT.

I HAD BARELY REACHED 45-50 MILES PER HOUR WHEN IT HAPPENED. THE SHAKE WAS STRONG ENOUGH TO THROW MY HANDS OFF THE STEERING WHEEL. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY SLOWDOWN AND PULL THE TRUCK OFF THE ROAD THEREAFTER. THE FIRST TWO TIMES THE SHAKING WAS EXTREME, NEARLY JERKED THE STEERING WHEEL FROM MY HANDS AND COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE LAST TWO WERE LESS EXTREME BUT I STILL NEEDED TO SLOW WAY DOWN TO STOP THE SHAKING. ALL FOUR TIMES THIS OCCURRED I WAS DRIVING ON STRAIGHT, PAVED, ROADWAY AND HIT A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE SMALL BUMP SET THE SHAKING IN MOTION. APPROXIMATE SPEEDS WERE 60, 70, 65 AND 65 MPH IN ORDER OF OCCURRENCE. I WAS DRIVING ALONE EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED SO DO NOT HAVE ANY WITNESSES TO THIS CONDITION. HOWEVER, AS STATED ABOVE, HUNDREDS OF OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THIS SAME CONDITION WITH F250 AND F350 TRUCKS.

WHEN DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 58MPH ON CITY ROADS OR INTERSTATE A SLIGHT VIBRATION STARTS AND TURNS INTO AN UNCONTROLLABLE WOBBLE IN FRONT TIRES AND STEERING WHEEL. NO WAY TO POWER THRU THE VIBRATION YOU HAVE TO COME TO ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP AT TIMES FOR WOBBLE TO STOP.

MY 2014 F250 HAS SINCE AROUND 80K MILES HAD AN UNCONTROLLABLE WOBBLE WHEN AT LOW HIGHWAY SPEEDS HITTING EVEN THE SMALLEST BUMP IN THE ROAD. AFTER MULTIPLE ALIGNMENTS AND TIRE CHANGES MY DEALER ADMITTED THAT ITS KNOWN AS "DEATH WOBBLE" AND I NEED TO DO THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN REPAIRS THAT ARE VERY COMMON. I AM AT 140K NOW AND THEY FINALLY ADMITED THAT ITS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM

TRUCK VIOLENTLY STARTS SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY ON HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS. THIS OCCURS IF HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD, PAVEMENT/GROOVE CHANGES, ACCELERATING UP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS TO MERGE OR GETTING ON THE BRAKE AT HIGH SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY. THE "DEATH WOBBLE" IS THE EXPERIENCE I HAVE BEEN HAVING AND IS NOW BECOMING WAY TO COMMON FOR THE DAILY COMMUTE. THIS IS HAPPENING ON DAILY TRAVEL AND WHEN PULLING A TRAILER LOADED WITH HORSES. PURCHASED IN 2016 WITH EXTREMELY LOW MILES AND THE ISSUE BEGAN SHOWING IN EARLY 2017 AND HAS SINCE BECOME MORE AND MORE FREQUENT AND THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE IS NOW UNCERTAIN EVERY TIME I GET IN THE VEHICLE.

SEVERAL TIMES NOW, WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 55, WHEN I HIT A VERY SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD THE TRUCK STARTS SHAKING VIOLENTLY. IT IS TO THE POINT THAT, YOU CAN NOT CONTROL IT UNTIL YOU STOP. THE PROBLEM DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME DRIVEN, BUT IT DOES OCCASIONALLY. IT FEELS COMPLETELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD F-250. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH AND AFTER DRIVING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD THE FRONT END BEGAN TO SHAKE, VIBRATE AND WOBBLE CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING AND CRASH INTO A DITCH. DURING THE INCIDENT NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE HAD ALSO OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OTHER OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

AT APPROXIMATELY 181,000 THIS VEHICLE EXHIBITED "SUSTAINED STEERING WHEEL OSCILLATION" (AKA DEATH WOBBLE). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A NON-FORD ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND REPAIRED PER FORD TSB 18-2268, BUT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. FORD HAS CLAIMED THIS VEHICLE IS NOT ON THEIR LIST OF VEHICLES SUBJECT TO CORRECTION OR MITIGATION. THE ONLY SUSPENSION MODIFICATIONS WERE AFTERMARKET BRAKES AND SHOCKS (I.E. HIGH QUALITY COMPONENTS). THE VEHICLE NOW HAS APPROXIMATELY 184,000 MILES AND STILL EXHIBITS SEVERE OSCILLATIONS WHEN TRAVELING OVER A BUMP OR ROUGH SURFACE, CAUSING HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS AND DANGER TO OTHER VEHICLES WHEN A SUDDEN SLOW-DOWN OR STOP IS NEEDED TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, MY TRUCK EXPERIENCES THE "DEATH WOBBLE." IF I HIT A BUMP WHEN TRAVELING ABOVE 60 MPH THE FRONT WHEELS WOBBLE LIKE A SHOPPING CART AND THE FRONT END SHAKES VIOLENTLY. THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES IN MY HANDS. THESE CONDITIONS CONTINUE UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS SLOWED DOWN TO 35-40 MPH.

MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE THE OCCURRENCE YESTERDAY , I WOULD HIT A BUMP AND IT WOULD SEEM LIKE THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK WOULD SKIP A LITTLE, REPLACED SHOCKED AND STEERING DAMPER , 6 MONTHS LATER I HIT A LITTLE BUMP GOING ABOUT 70 MPH AND THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE VIGOROUSLY AND I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE . THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY FORD ESPECIALLY SINCE THE INFAMOUS DEATH ROLL HAS BEEN AFFECTING THESE VEHICLES FOR OVER A DECADE . *TR

MY 2014 FORD F250 PLATINUM DIESEL HAS EXHIBITED DEATH WOBBLE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY ANYWHERE FROM 50 TO 70 MPH AFTER HITTING SMALL BUMPS IN THE ROAD. I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO BLAISE ALEXANDER FORD ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. THE FIRST TIME THEY REPLACED STEERING STABILIZER AND IT WAS WORSE AFTER I GOT THE TRUCK BACK, THE SECOND TIME THEY REPLACED THE TIE RODS AND GAVE IT A FRONT BRAKE JOB, GOT THE TRUCK BACK AND IT WAS EVEN WORSE, THE THIRD TIME THEY REPLACED THE STEERING GEAR BOX. STILL NO EFFECT ON THE DEATH WOBBLE ISSUE. I THEN DROVE THE TRUCK WITH THEIR MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME IT COULD BE THE SHOCKS OR THE TIRES OR MAYBE A SPRING OR COIL IS BROKEN. THE TRUCK IS UNSAFE AND FORD NEEDS TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX IT. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT. *TR

2014 F250 DIESEL EXPERIENCES MULTIPLE 'DEATH WOBBLES' WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OVER 60MPH AND PASSING OVER EXPANSION JOINT ON BRIDGE OR OTHER LIKE CREVICES. FELT LIKE THE FRONT END WAS FALLING APART WITH VIOLENT FRONT END SHAKING, HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 35 MPH TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. TOOK TRUCK TO DEALER AND HAD TO PAY $150.00 FOR DIAGNOSIS. FORD CLAIMS ALL FRONT END SUSPENSION PARTS NEED REPLACING AS WELL AS A FRONT END ALIGNMENT. THE TRUCK HAS JUST OVER 100K MILES ON IT AND IS MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES. IT'S JUST OUT OF AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND FORD ESTIMATES THE REPAIRS AT OVER $1,300.00 WITH NO GUARANTEES THAT THIS WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW BY FORD. I'VE OWNED FORD TRUCKS FOR MANY MANY YEARS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS IN ANY OF THE PAST SUPER DUTY'S THAT I OWNED.

DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED 65-70 MPH ON CA-99 ON 11-30-2019 BETWEEN BAKERSFIELD AND FRESNO I EXPERIENCED SEVERAL "DEATH WOBBLES." THIS VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THIS PROBLEM AT FUTURE FORD IN SACRAMENTO, CA. ON 03OCT19 BY REPLACING STEERING DAMPER AND TRACK BAR. ALSO AN ALIGNMENT WAS DONE. EVIDENTLY THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS ON CERTAIN OCCASIONS.

2014 FORD F250 VIN # [XXX]. THE DEATH WOBBLE OCCURRED 1ST TIME ON 11/3/19 WITH MY SON DRIVING AROUND 10:00 A.M. ON 11/09/19 APPROXIMATELY 11:00 P.M WITH MYSELF DRIVING HOME. WENT OVER A BRIDGE THAT WAS JUST REPLACED THIS SUMMER ABOUT 3 MILES FROM HOME ON ST, RT. 729, SABINA, OHIO 45169. ABOUT 1/2 FROM BURRISTOWN RD. WHICH I TURNED TO THE RIGHT. I WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR MY TURNOFF AND COMPLETE SHAKING OF THE TRUCK. IT HAS HAD A SHAKE OVER BUMPS AND BRIDGES BUT NOTHING LIKE THE WHOLE TRUCK VIOLENTLY SHAKING. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH BEDFORD FORD IN WASHINGTON C.H., 43160 ON WEDNESDAY 11/13/19 TO REPLACE ALL 4 TIRES AND TO LOOK AT THE FRONT END. WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH VEHICLE BEGINS TO WOBBLE VIOLENTLY. TRUCK IS VIRTUALLY UNCONTROLLABLE UNTIL SPEED IS REDUCED SIGNIFICANTLY. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH IDENTIFIES THE PROBLEM AS A WORN OUT DRAG LINK. IT ALSO SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON MANY YEARS OF THIS VEHICLE.

WHEN IN MOTION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (60MPH +) MY TRUCK WILL VIOLENTLY SHAKE AND WOBBLE IF A SMALL BUMP IS HIT. IT LOOSES STEERING CONTROL AND IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO SAFE. YOU HAVE TO COME TO A STOP TO GET THE SHAKING AND OUT OF CONTROL WOBBLE TO STOP.

MY FORD TRUCK TYPICALLY EXPERIENCES THE DEATH WOBBLE WHEN TRAVELING MORE THAN 50 MPH AND AT LEAST ONE OF THE TIRES HITS A GROOVE OR BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE ONLY WAY I KNOW TO CONTROL THE VIOLENT SHAKING IS BY QUICKLY REDUCING SPEED, WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC

I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE FORD DEATH WOBBLE ON MY 1997 F350 AND MY 2014 F250. AT 45 MPH PLUS, HITTING SOMETIMES IMPERCEPTIBLE BUMPS CAN CAUSE THE SUSPENSION AND STEERING TO DEVELOP A VERY VIOLENT VIBRATION. I ALMOST LOSE CONTROL AND HAVE TO BRAKE VERY HARD TO GET IT TO STOP. I AM AFRAID I AM GOING TO CRASH OR BE HIT FROM BEHIND WHEN BRAKING. FORD MADE SOME SUSPENSION REPAIRS UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT THESE REPAIRS MADE THE PROBLEM MUCH WORSE. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK AND THEY BLAMED MY TIRES, SAYING THEY ARE ALMOST WORN OUT. I COMPLAINED THAT I SHOULD HAVE SEVERAL THOUSAND MORE MILES ON THESE TIRES AND THERE WAS EITHER A DESIGN PROBLEM OR SOMETHING BROKEN. THEY REFUSE TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY AND TOLD ME THERE IS NO OTHER CHOICE BUT TO CHANGE MY TIRES. I PUT NEW TIRES ON FOR $1,300 AND I STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. IT IS LESS SEVERE AND HAPPENS LESS FREQUENTLY, BUT IT IS STILL DEFINITELY THERE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY TRUCK BUT HAVE NO CHOICE.

WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND HIT A BUMP IN ROAD OR GOING OVER A BRIDGE AND DRIVING OVER THE BRIDGE JOINTS THE FRONT WHEELS/SUSPENSION GO INTO AN ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLE BOUNCE/WOBBLE. BEST WAY I CAN DESCRIBE THE ISSUES IS AS IF YOUR TIRES WERE OVER INFLATED AND THE SHOCK ABSORBERS WERE MISSING. VEHICLE HAS 48,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN DOING THIS OCCASIONALLY FOR APPROXIMATELY THE LAST 20,000 MILES. THIS IS A 2ND VEHICLE AND GETS DRIVEN MOSTLY ON HIGHWAY. WHEN GOOGLING WHETHER FORD F-250'S HAVE SHOCK ABSORBER ISSUES, I RAN INTO MANY REPORTS OF THIS WOBBLE ISSUE.

DEATH WOBBLE, SAFETY ISSUES, LOST BRAKING AND LIMITED STEERING AT 65 MPH.. SO FAR FORD DEALER IN FREEPORT IL. TOLD ME THE ONLY THING I CAN DO IS TRADE IT IN. FORD WOULD NOT OFFER ANY FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. TRUCK HAS HAD NO MODIFICATION OR ANY CHANGES IN CONFIGURATION. SO FAR I HAVE CHANGED TWO SETS OF BRAKES, TWO SETS OF TIRES AND OVER 2K IN STEERING LINKS AND ROD ALONG WITH STEERING STABILIZER.

MY TRUCK IS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE 3RD TIME FOR HAVING THE 'DEATH WOBBLE'. FIRST TIME THEY REPLACED BALL JOINTS. SECOND TIME THEY REPLACED A BAR AND BALL JOINTS. IT WASN'T LONG TILL I FELT THE SHIMMY AGAIN. AT THIS POINT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE I CARPOOL MY 3 GRANDKIDS AROUND ON A DAILY BASIS AND I DON'T WANT TO RISK THEIR LIVES. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE DEATH WOBBLE IS GOING TO HAPPEN BUT IT IS USUALLY WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING 55-70 MPH AND HIT A SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE WOBBLE IS SO SEVERE YOU CAN HARDLY KEEP CONTROL. YOU HAVE TO HIT YOUR BRAKES AND DECREASE YOUR SPEED UNTIL THE WOBBLING STOPS. THIS COULD PROVE TO BE FATAL IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. IF YOU GOOGLE THE DEATH WOBBLE THERE IS A LOT OF INFORMATION ON IT AND IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES FOR SEVERAL YEARS. I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS. I DROPPED MY VEHICLE OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY AND AS OF TONIGHT I HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED BY THEM. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT WOULD BE A PERMANENT REPAIR FOR THIS PROBLEM? IF THERE IS NOT ONE THEN FORD SHOULD HAVE TO BUY BACK THE VEHICLE AND DESTROY IT TO PREVENT SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH TO SOMEONE. I LOVE MY TRUCK BUT NOW IT HAS PROVEN TO BE UNRELIABLE AND POSSIBLY DANGEROUS.

AT HIGH SPEEDS HITTING POT HOLES OR BRIDGE DECKS, FRONT END WOBBLES UNCONTROLLABLY. IT'S REFERRED TO AS (DEATH WOBBLE) NEED TO HIT THE BRAKES HARD TO STOP IT. VERY DANGEROUS. FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND IS TURNING A BLIND EYE.CRASHING ON THE FREEWAY AT THOSE SPEEDS COULD BE CATASTROPHIC. SOME VEHICLES HAVE AS LITTLE AS 20000 MILES ON THEM, MINE HAS 51000. JUST PUT NEW TIRES,FRONT SHOTS AND STEERING STABILIZER ON IT. STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE GOOGLE (2014 FORD F250 SUPER DUTY FRONT END ISSUES). US CONSUMERS ARE PAYING BIG, BIG MONEY FOR THESE VEHICLES. $700000 IN SOME CASES. I PAID 40000 AND I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. ALL I WANT IS FOR FORD TO FACE THE FACT'S AND FIX IT. BEFORE SOME GETS KILLED! I WROTE TO WILLIAM FORD AT FORD MOTOR COMPANY A WEEK AGO BUT HAVE NOT HEARD BACK. I CAN'T STRESS TO YOU ENOUGH WHAT A DANGEROUS ISSUE THIS IS. I WOULD LOVE TO TAKE MY TRUCK TO THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND HAVE JIM HACKETT DRIVE IT, THEN I WOULD BE FIXED. JUST A SIDE NOTE, THERE WAS A CONSUMER IN SILSBE TEXAS THAT NOTED THE SERVICE WRITER AT SILSBE FORD SAID THAT SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHY FORD DOESN'T FIX THIS BECAUSE IT IS SUCH A BIG PROBLEM. IN CLOSING PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE AND HOLD FORDS FEET TO THE FIRE. THANK YOU.
