Death wobble
Entire vehicle shakes/wobbles extremely uncontrollably going a speed around 65; have to slow to avoid an accident and put on hazards. Makes our heart stop not knowing what danger we have been put in when it occurs. Very scary and DANGEROUS to ourselves and others. Occurs with roadways involving dips, highways, ridges of bridges such as bumps or gaps, and/or differences in road, etc. This has occurred multiple times. ([XXX]) was another episode. This is SCARY DANGEROUS! No lights or indications go off. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Steering wheel shakes violently when going between 55 to 75 mph after hitting bump in road. Commonly known as the “death wobble”. Total loss of control.
At about 65-70 MPH, upon hitting an mildly rough spot on highway, my 2015 F250 started shaking violently: i.e better known as the Ford "Death Wobble."
Death wobble - on numerous occasions we have experienced the death wobble on our vehicle. We have complained to several dealers and done their recommended repairs. We have even purchased new high end tires as recommended with no resolution. We are unable to haul our RV out of fear of an accident. It has occurred at high speeds on the highway and at lower speeds on roads. This is very scary when it occurs. Coming to a full stop in a one lane HOV lane is not only dangerous for us but also dangerous for those traveling behind us. This has been occurring for years with the most recent occurrence this week. After researching we discovered this route to file a complaint.

While driving on interstate highway I hit a bump and the front end began to wobble until I could brake and stop I took it to my front end shop and spent ~ $2K Next trip after repair had same problem when I hit a bump. After two more returns to the same shop and almost all parts replaced the truck did it again last week This continued wobble could be deadly and needs to be fixed. I plan to call ford but cannot believe this is not a recall issue
[XXX] . My truck has started the death wobble. Driving on interstate and if I hit uneven paving steering wheel and front of truck shakes extremely rough, causing me to hit the breaksand bring my speed down to 40mph or less, In traffic is dangerous INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I experienced what I now have come to understand is called the death wobble. It was terrifying and I was going about 60 mph on an interstate that was under construction. I hit minor bumps and the whole truck began to wobble back-and-forth violently. it would not stop until I came down to about 15 miles an hour, after that steering felt loose. I thought I was going to die. The incident chewed up my tires with pock marks everywhere.
Truck violently shakes (wobbles) when you go over 50 mph.
Today my 2015 Ford F250 SD experienced the aptly named Ford “Death Wobble”. It occurred twice today after just having the whole front end rebuilt for the same issue just weeks ago. My truck shakes so violently I am concerned for my safety and that of my wife. To stop the shaking I have to slow to 30 mph or less, typically on the highway where all other vehicles are traveling at 65+. The truck now sits at a dealership waiting for repair. The service writer states parts that were replaced two - three weeks ago are “shot”. How can this be? Ford F250’s have this as a known problem with no real fix. Just keep throwing parts at it with no resolve. I had the truck worked on in July ‘23, May ‘24 and now. I am invested heavily in this truck and have now had to replace parts multiple times because some design flaw keeps wearing them out. I’d love to see some sort of recall that forces some sort of redesign and real repair.
I experienced the “Ford Death Wobble” when on the highway at 70 MPH. It has happened three times now. It didn’t stop until I pulled off the road and stopped. It was an unsafe situation trying to get across three lanes of traffic and stop in the shoulder of the road. I did not loose control of the truck but it was close to being uncontrollable. From what I’ve read, this needs to be a Recalled item!!
On multiple occasions I have experienced the “F250 death wobble”. When reaching speeds of over 60 mph my front end and steering wheel start shaking violently. The entire truck is uncontrollable. It feels like the vehicle is going to shake apart. It is difficult to even hold onto the steering wheel and keep the vehicle going in a straight line. I have to slow down to about 30 mph on an interstate to make it stop, creating a dangerous situation. Sometimes I have to pull off the road. Often, when hitting a bump in the road it gets triggered. I’ve had it looked at multiple times at ford dealerships and nothing is ever found that is the cause of it. It’s extremely dangerous and there is no recall for this problem. Thankfully I have managed to keep control of the vehicle. I’ve experienced this problem for going on 3-5 years. I have replaced the front tires numerous times as that seems to help, though not eliminate the problem. Ford needs to do something about this with a recall or educating their service departments. There are tons of complaints online
While merging onto an interstate the truck began to violently shake causing me to begin to lose control. I was able to brake hard and pull off the road before I lost complete control. I was extremely upset after this event. After regaining composure on the side of an interstate I pulled back onto the interstate. Within the next 10 min I hit a bump in the middle of the interstate and the truck again began to shake violently. I thought I was going to lose control and crash. We immediately had the vehicle taken to a mechanic. The work they did cost 1300$. Approximately 2 weeks after getting the vehicle back I was driving over a bridge and the seam in the road again caused the truck to violently shake. Again feeling like I was going to lose control. I was able to brake hard and pull over on the side of a bridge. This caused significant trauma to myself and my young son. Since then the truck continues to violently shake anytime it’s driven over a bump or seam in the road even at slow rates of speed. We have taken the vehicle to the mechanic again and they have been unable to solve the issue

The truck experienced excessive shaking when it hit a bump in the road while driving on the interstate. The steering wheel rattled so badly that the truck was difficult to control or steer. The shaking was so severe, that it felt like we had been hit by another car or had a blown tire. The violent shaking occurred when driving at speeds over 50 miles per hour.
Since June of 2023 I have had instances of excessive wobbling of the front end of my truck. Severe to the point that I've almost lost control. Took it into the Ford dealership in July of 2023. Determined to be consistant with "Death Wobble." Extensive work done and then again in September of 2023. Took it in again. Additional work done by Ford. On October 31,2023 a reoccurance of wobble and taken into Ford. Today, 11/13/2023 Ford could not find any issues and told me to drive it and when it does it again, bring it back in. This is an accident waiting to happen and I'm at a loss.
The truck started jerking back and forth(left and right) while driving down the hwy at 70 mph, continued to do so at lower speeds as well. Safety was at risk as it was dark and the truck was jerking back and forth with passengers inside. It has not been inspected yet, it's Saturday night 9/16/2023 at 10:00 pm. No warning lights or alert sounds were activated. This has happened before but did not last as long and not near as violent. The problem seems to resolve it's self then occurs spontaneously days, sometimes minutes later.
When driving (Once going downhill 6% grade, several times driving level on the freeway and once on a 45 MPH road with ruts), the front end began shaking violently to the point I was losing control of the vehicle until I slowed down. The vehicle would be available for inspection upon request. Safety was impacted by the loss of control resulting from the vehicle violently shaking. I took the truck to a mechanic and he could not see any problems. Other than my mechanic, no one has inspected the vehicle. There were no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to the event. I have dash cam video of the event.
Truck started to wobble/shake aggressively. Did some research and read about this situation called the “death wobble”. This is the second time it’s happened
My truck has what is known as the death wobble. I am having it repaired again because if I hit a bump while I'm driving down the road, it'll jerk over into other people's lanes almost hitting other cars. It's horrible this is the second or third time I've had to repair this and is a well-known issue between 2007 and 2019. Can something please be done about this? This is starting to get a little ridiculous that there's so many cars out there that are this unsaved over the fact that a company doesn't want to pay to fix them
This vehicle, like many others has a severe death wobble. I almost lost complete control of the vehicle on the freeway at 75MPH after hitting a pothole! I replaced tie rod ends and took it to the Ford dealer to have it aligned and had them check all other steering components. They only recommended new tires and said everything was tight and didn't need replacement. The tires have over 3/32's wear on them so they could have made it another summer before replacing them. It is at the dealer right now getting new tires but I am afraid this will not fix the actual problem. The problem had been reproduced at the dealer and the mechanic told me it was the worst one he has ever driven. This is a known vehicle defect and Ford will still not do anything to fix the issue since it has not been reported in new vehicles that are exactly the same. There were no messages or symptoms before this occurred and it was the scariest thing I have ever experienced. I am only a 118lb Female and it was almost impossible to control the vehicle
I drove thru a groove in the pavement at bridge at 60 MPH and it started shaking violently, I almost lost control of the truck.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 50-65 MPH, the vehicle experienced the death wobble, almost causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact depressed the brake pedal and came a complete stop. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the failure reoccurred several times while driving. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

Truck will begin doing the Death Wobble on the highway with speeds around 60-65 mph. Cab and steering vibrate vigorously causing loss of steering control.
While driving between 50 and 60 mph the steering wheel begins to violently shake until you slow below 50 MPH. This is known as the Death Wobble.
I have experienced a "death wobble" on 2 occasions in 4 weeks. The truck's front end uncontrollably bounces when driving on the freeway causing me to have to immediately let off the gas and gently brake causing a dangerous situation not only for me and my family but potentially for others on the road.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle drove over a slight bump on the roadway and the steering wheel began to move left to right and the vehicle was shaking and unable to maintain a straight line in the lane. The contact stated he was not aware of any warning lights being illuminated. The contact pulled off the road and placed the vehicle in park(P) and waited with the engine running. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to a dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the ball joints and the steering dampener needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000.

When driving over speeds of 50mph or after driving over bumpy/ wavy roads, the truck starts shaking violently. It was bouncing so hard it almost shook the steering wheel out of my hands. I had to completely stop and pull over off the left side of the interstate. This has happened multiple times.
I was driving at approximatelly 60mmph when the left front end starte shaking and vibrating so bad I could not keep it on the road. Luckly it was a two lane road with an emergency lane. when I came to a stop the vibration and shakinf stopped. I took it to the ford dealership. They told me I needed frontsuspension tie rods, ball joint assy shock absorbers drag links . Plus $1,156 dollars labor. Told me the truck was fixed to come and get it. They test drove it 5 miles. I picked it up. I had an appointment to go to. I went to it, and on my return the truck did the same thing on my return, this time it pushed me into the right hand lane, barely missing a car beside me. The drive stopped and asked me wht the hell as going on.. I explained and he said you better get the damn thig fixed. This was a Friday night. I parkd it and took it back to the dealer Monday morning. They did not beleive me. I took the tech on a drive, it happened right where it happened to me. I drove back a different way to the dealership to avoid the freeway. I happened again on this road. They went back to work on it. This time they installed a dual steering stabilizer, another $842 dollars, no charge for labor after i bitched. As a 30 year degreed mechanical engineer with years of buying and having machines and equipment repaired I beleive the first fixed the effects of the issue and then with the stabilizer hopefully fixed the cause. There was no warning it just happened out of the blue. I haveread up on th death wobble, and feel lucky I did not get killed.
I was driving at approximately 55mph when my Ford F-250 started violently shaking. I had a difficult time steering it and almost crashed.
Violent shaking in front end (commonly referred to as “ death wobble”) usually associated with hitting a rough spot in road. Happens between speeds of 50-60 mph. Ford replaced steering stabilizer under a service bulletin and it did nothing to help. Tires have been replaced and tire rotation is done every 5,000 miles. Ford acts like there is no problem but there is a serious and dangerous one. This has been a problem with the truck since it was bought brand new in 2015
I have been experiencing what is known as the Death Wobble. The death wobble is a violent shaking that happens to the front end of many Ford F250 and F350 Super Duty trucks. It typically occurs at speeds over 50 miles per hour. It can also happen after going over bumps or grooves in the road. To stop the shaking, drivers must quickly slow way down or even stop completely. In addition to the shaking potentially causing the driver to lose control of the truck, slowing or having to stop on fast-moving highways also puts both truck occupants and other vehicles at risk. I have taken this Vehicle to NTB for repairs and even had new tires put on in the event that was the issue. They have replaced all the steering linkages, tie-rods, ball joints, etc dealing with steering to no avail. I have taken this pickup back into the repair shop on 10/24/2022 once again as this has made me have to stop on major freeways to get the wobble to stop. This is putting me and others in danger.
after hitting grooves or holes in the road the vehicle vibrates violently, known in the industry as the Ford Death Wobble. It's getting progressively worse. It makes lane control very difficult and often times requires immediate braking which causes a hazard on the highway to those following behind in addition to sudden lane departures caused by pulling forces.
The vehicle violently shakes at speeds above 60mph. I must abruptly slow down on highway or come to a complete stop. This is dangerous to me and other drivers. After further research I have found this issue has caused serious injury and death.
Death Wobble again after repair at 200,000 miles at local Ford dealer.
When I hit any kind of bump in the road, especially when you change lanes the truck shakes so violently you have to slow down to about 10 miles an hour to get it to stop. This has been happening for years & on a few occasions it almost caused an accident. On one occurrence it was so bad the truck shook me off of the highway. This is an ongoing issue, I have tried many repairs to try to alleviate this problem with no luck.
Unable to steer, vehicle was wobbling almost losing control while on highway vehicle began to bounce side to side.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving and exceeding 55 MPH, the vehicle would shake abnormally. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with an unstated linkage failure. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure had reoccurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.

On 03/19/2022 at about noon I was driving my F-250 eastbound on SR 60 (Courtney Campbell CSWY) headed to Tampa, FL. this was a Saturday & the area was very congested. The speed limit is 60 mph. I was traveling about 50 to 55 mph. Suddenly the truck started to vibrate at a rate that it actually bounced or jumped on the road. It was everything I could do to maintain control & get the vehicle slowed down & off the highway. I thought I had a wheel(s) coming off the vehicle. I inspected the tires/wheels/overall vehicle before getting back on the road & returning home. On Monday 03/21/2022 I contacted Ferman Ford in Clearwater, FL to get it in for service to determine what is the problem. Ferman Ford could not get to my truck until 03/29/2022. I then went on-line to see if anyone else has had a similar problem. I found a number of articles that spoke to the F-250 & F-350 having a problem called the "DEATH WOBBLE". What was described in these articles is exactly what I experienced. It was so violent that my wife (who was with me when this occurred) is now not comfortable with riding in my truck. Needing the use of my truck & not able to replace it I authorized the repairs & am now stuck with a $2433.64 bill that Ford will not accept as there problem...defect. I am very disappointed in corporate Ford for not doing a recall & resolving this on going problem that has possible life & injury impacts.
DEATH WOBBLE. I experienced the death wobble for the first time a few days ago on a road that I drive twice a day. This road has bumps in the road when you are heading west, but I was heading east and have never experienced any kind of steering issue when traveling that direction. The truck started shaking as the front springs and shock absorbers were fighting against each other. The steering wheel was uncontrollable. The only way to stop the wobble was to slow down to a near stop. Ford needs to issue a recall on this issue, as it is a safety hazard to the driver, passengers, and other vehicles on the road.
On more than one occasion I experienced a violent shaking while driving on highway speeds. The incident happened out of no where. I had my child in the backseat so I tried to slow down quickly not sure if made it worse but the shaking / wobbling didn’t stop till came to a complete stop. I was in fear of our safety so i got of the highway pulled aside and checked my superduty for suspension or steering issues. Everything thing looked normal so i decided to get back on the road. Truck seemed fine again. Didn’t think much of it till it happened again, same deal very scary. I did do a bit of research online and found out that this was a common problem with Ford super duty models. This is 2022 why hasn’t this been addressed? Do people have to die before Ford is held accountable? This is my work truck Mon-Fri and my family truck the rest of the time. I will get this repaired at my expense in order to keep my family safe. Please do something about this. Make Ford responsible for selling trucks that are dangerous to drive.
This vehicle, in March 2021, experienced what's known as the "death wobble". It occurs after hitting seams in the road at highway speeds (65 mph+). It causes violent shaking of the front end until the vehicle slows down (usually under ~ 55mph). All recommended service was done to the vehicle prior to the experience. The recommended remedy was performed (replaced steering damper and stabilizer bar). Effective March 1, 2022 and approximately 2000 miles later, the wobble has returned. The vehicle is currently at the dealership (where purchased and all maintenance done).
The death whobble on front end of trk.i done repaired numerous times can't get it fixed. This is ridiculous! Done been in numerous near misses very scary on the road or interstate comes out of nowhere it will take you off the road now this is my only vehicle and scared to drive it over 40 mph what do I do?
I’ve been experiencing the death wobble, which is a violent shaking that happens to the front end of my Ford F250 Super Duty trucks. It typically occurs at speeds over 50 miles per hour. It also happens after going over bumps or grooves in the road. To stop the shaking, I must quickly slow way down or even stop completely. It’s terrifying, especially when I’m driving with my 2 children in the truck.
A common, but irregular violent shaking of the steering after I go over a bump in the road of come off an overpass. Sometimes it happens once in a week, sometimes it will happen 2 times in 2 miles. The problem doesn't occur under 45 MPH. It is so dangerous that I don't want anyone driving my truck except me, in case this happens again. Very scary. Very dangerous.
While driving down the highway at 70mph a small bump on the road made my truck start wobbling uncontrollably. I lost control for a few seconds and the wobbling stopped only until i came to a full stop. This happened on a busy highway in Dallas.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-250. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the death wobble while driving at various speeds. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and an unknown repair was performed; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the repair was not covered under the warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000.

On numerous occasions while driving my vehicle I have experienced uncontrollable shaking. I recently took my vehicle to Capital Ford (803-366-3181) to have it diagnose and was told that I'm and experiencing the death wobble and was told that the repair cost would be a total of $761.99 along with the diagnostic few of $150.00
I was traveling down Hwy 75 north at 70to 75 mph when i hit a series of bumps in succession and it sent the truck into a highspeed wobble which would not stop. I changed lanes thinking it was the road but it continued making steering difficult. I slowed down rapidly and moved off the road in traffic to a stop finally on the shoulder. Everything checked out and I proceeded on my way. This was very abnormal it was a excessively violent shake that did not stop until I stopped.
Death wobble. This has happened several times now. I was driving down the highway, hit a bump, and the truck started to violently shake. I had to reduce speed to 30 mph before 8 could get it back under control and the shaking to stop. My service center replaced the tie rods, stabilizer bar, shocks and struts. None of this has resolved the issue. And it seems random as to when it happens. I can hit all kinds of potholes and bumps in the road and nothing happens. But when it does happen, you lose complete control of the vehicle.
This is the second 2015 Ford F-250 we have driven with the death wobble. The first one was a test drive before we purchased the one we have. We were driving it on the interstate and hit a bump and it started shaking profusely and was very scary. I could see this causing a very bad accident. We figured this one had something severely wrong with it and wasn't in the best condition. It has 60K on it. The we have now has 150K on it and about 5K ago it did the same thing. We took it in for repairs and they replaced the components in the steering that seemed to be of issue. The issue is better but still has a bad shake in the front end when hitting a bump. This seems to be very common with these trucks up to model year 2019. Ford should issue a recall and fix the problem with these trucks.
Death wobble. I hit a bump in the road and the truck shook so hard it pulled me off the road and into the grass.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 50 mph, the steering wheel began to shake forcefully. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road for a few seconds and continued to drive to his destination. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the steering damper to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 20E090000 (Steering, Suspension, Equipment) however, the Vin was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,500.

While driving on the freeway the truck just started violently shaking uncontrollably. The only way to stop it was to reduce the speed and to try and exit the freeway safely. The 1st time this happened was in May 2021 and since than it has happened about a dozen times. I have been replacing parts left and right trying to fix the issue, but each time we replace what we think is causing the problem it happens again. While driving to PA for work this weekend (July 22nd-July25th, 2021) it happened 3 separate times, it's very unsafe and scary as hell, when it happens. So we googled "f250's shaking violently" and was amazed at what popped up. The "Ford Death Wobble", that describes what happened to us to a T. I can't believe Ford hasn't issued a recall for this, knowing all the facts. If possible when we replace parts on our car, it's with Ford Dealer ship replacement parts.
When I am driving about 60 ish miles per hour and I hit a bump or like a small pot hole my truck's steering starts to shake and the entire frontend shakes so badly that I cannot control the truck until I can get it stopped. It does not do it all the time it happens all of a sudden. I have put new tires on the truck, new front end parts, had it aligned and it just keeps happening. It has been going on since the truck had 110,000 miles just out of my warranty but the Ford dealer just kept telling me it was the tires. This morning it was the worst that it ever have been.
Ford F250 Death Wobble: Hello, I have a 2015 for f250 vin# [XXX], upon reaching speeds of 60 to 80mph the vehicle uncontrollably starts shaking and wobbling. I have contacted ford and they have not offered to check the vehicle for any defects. Please help. Normal driving on freeway the front of truck begins to bounce/shake vigorously like it is losing contact with the road. The only solution is to apply brakes and move vehicle to safe place to stop. This is happened several times now we have had the steering damper replaced twice and it is still happening.
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING WHAT PEOPLE REFER TO AS THE DEATH WOBBLE. TRUCK STARTS TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE. THIS HAPPENED A FEW MONTHS PRIOR THEN WENT AWAY. NOW IT IS NOT STOPPING

WHILE DRIVING MY 2015 F250 THE FRONT END BEGAN TO SHIMMY AND SHAKE VIOLENTLY AT 50 MPH. TRUCK WAS WOBBLING ALL OVER AND TO BEGIN QUICK DECELERATION AND SLIGHT BRAKING. ONCE TRUCK DROPPED TO ABOUT 20 MPH THE SYMPTOMS STOPPED. LOOKED OVER TRUCK AND SAW NO OBVIOUS ISSUES . I DROVE SLOWLY TO REPAIR SHOP AND THEY CHECKED OVER FRONT END AND STATED WOULD NEED TRACTION ROD, STABILIZER AND BALL JOINTS AS THIS IS KNOWN ISSUES ON 2005-2019 SUPER DUTY VEHICLES. FORD DEALER SAID THEY WERE UNAWARE OF ANY RECALL OR ISSUES BUT COULD CHECK IT OUT. IF THE OTHER GARAGE WAS CORRECTED IT WOULD AROUND $800 TO 900 TO REPAIR. AS I LEFT AND MADE RIGHT TURN IT AGAIN SHIMMIED BADLY AND I RETURN TO DEALER. THEY SUGGESTED LEAVING TRUCK AND THEY COULD GET TO IT IN A FEW DAYS. I FEEL THIS UNACCEPTABLE FROM FORD FOR A OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. HAS THE NHTSA BEEN AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND IS A RECALL TO PROTECT THE CONSUMER LARGE INVESTMENT IN ORDER? THESE TRUCKS ARE NOT CHEAP AND FORD TOUTS TEH MOTO, BUILT FORD TOUGH> PLEASE RESEARCH AND ADVISE IF THERE IS A RECOURSE FOR THE CONSUMERS THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THESE SAFETY ISSUES. WHEN I HIT A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS AT A SLIGHT ANGLE THE VEHICLE STARTS SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND IS HARD TO CONTROL. GOES AWAY AFTER SLOWING DOWN BUT NEARLY HIT THE VEHICLE NEXT TO ME. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THERE'S REALLY NO PERMANENT FIX TO IT. HE REPLACED MY STEERING DAMPER BUT STILL DOES IT.

2015 FORD F-250 4X4 CREW CAB DIESEL SHORT BED; WHILE TRAVELING BETWEEN 50-70 MPH, WHEN THE TRUCK HITS A BUMP OR HOLE, THE TRUCK SOMETIMES SHAKES VIOLENTLY UNOFFICIALLY EXPLAINED AS THE SUPER DUTY DEATH WOBBLE. TRUCK IS UNCONTROLLABLE UNTIL SPEED HAS BEEN DRASTICALLY REDUCED. DOING SO IS A HAZARD IN ITSELF FOR SURROUNDING TRAFFIC. FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND DOES NOT IDENTIFY IT AS A PROBLEM. UP TO NOW THERE HAS ONLY BEEN INCIDENTS AND CRASHES WITH OR WITHOUT INJURY. NO FATALITIES LOGGED. MY PERSONAL OPINION IS THEY WILL WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE IS KILLED BEFORE TAKING ACTION. BY OFFICIALLY REPORTING THIS TO NHTSA, I AS WELL AS THE MANY OTHERS ARE HOPING THAT FORD WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND INITIATE A CAMPAIGN TO RECTIFY THIS ISSUE. I HAVE REPLACED TIRES, SHOCKS TWICE, STEERING STABILIZER DAMPENER, REBALANCED, REALIGNED AND HAD A COMPLETE BRAKE ROTOR AND SHOE REPLACEMENT (ALL 4) TO NO AVAIL. I'M IN WELL OVER $2500 SO FAR AND STILL EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS. I WORK 78 MILES FROM MY RESIDENCE SO I'M LOGGING WELL OVER 150 MILES PER DAY.
Mileage: 75,000
THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED THE TRUCK WAS FIVE YEARS OLD I WAS DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEED, PASSED OVER AN EXPANSION JOINT OF A BRIDGE, ENTIRE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY, I THOUGHT A HAD BLOWN A TIRE, BUT AS I SLOWED TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE TRUCK "SMOOTHED OUT" AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE ON MY WAY. HOWEVER IT HAPPENED AGAIN TWO MORE TIMES THAT TRIP, EACH AT HIGHWAY SPEED (55-75) AND WOULD BE "TRIGGERED" BY SMALL BUMPS IN THE ROAD. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL GARAGE THEY ROTATED THE TIRES, DID A FRONT END ALIGNMENT AND REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPENER. PROBLEM CONTINUED TO REOCCUR. HAS BEEN BACK TO A DIFFERENT GARAGE 4 ADDITIONAL TIMES: TIE ROD, DRAG LINK, TRACK BAR JOINTS/BUSHINGS, SHOCKS, ALL HAVE BEEN REPLACED, HOWEVER WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS SMALL BUMPS IN THE ROAD CONTINUE TO INDUCE UNCONTROLLABLE FRONT END SHAKING. SO FAR I HAVE PAID JUST UNDER $2500, THE PROBLEM CONTINUES AND MY MECHANIC IS UNSURE WHAT IS LEFT TO TRY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. ONLINE SEARCH REVEALS THIS TO BE THE "FORD DEATH WOBBLE".

WHEN AT A SPEED OF 45PLUS WHEN A BUMP IS HIT OR IF RAINING AND A WATER PUDDLE TRUCK WOBBLES OUT OF CONTROL.
WHEN GOING 70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY YOU HIT A BUMP AND THE TRUCK GOES INTO A DEATH WOBBLE. APPARENTLY IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD SUPER DUTY TRUCKS.MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 65000 MILES ON IT. TOOK TO A MECHANIC AND SAID THAT HE SEES IT ALL THE TIME AND IT COSTS ABOUT $1500.00 TO FIX. MY BROTHERS NEWER TRUCK WHICH IS IDENTICAL EXCEPT FOR YEAR MODEL HAS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE.
Mileage: 65,000
HIT A BUMP ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH SPEED. TRUCK STARTED SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY. I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP TO GAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IT WAS VERY SCARY. I WAS ON US-290E/HOUSTON TX.
Mileage: 96,384
TWICE NOW IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS I HAVE STRUCK A BUMP IN THE ROAD AT 60 MPH THAT CAUSED THE STEERING TO SHAKE SO VIOLENTLY I HAD TO PULL OVER TO STOP IT THIS ALSO HAPPENED RECENTLY AT 70 MPH IN A SIMILAR SITUATION ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD IN DESPERATION TO GAIN CONTROL
Mileage: 56,000
THE VEHICLE FRONT END BEGINS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, SOMETIMES WITH A BUMP IN THE ROAD, OR WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. VERY NOTICEABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. MILEAGE AROUND 130,000, TIRES SHOWED WEAR OUTSIDE EDGE, NEW TIRES FROM THE DEALER HAD TO BE RE-BALANCED AROUND 50,000 AFTER I BOUGHT THEM, WAY OUT OF BALANCE. THE SHAKING MOVES THE STEERING WHEEL SO MUCH SO THAT I COULD EASILY LOOSE CONTROL IF I WAS NOT PAYING ATTENTION, VERY DANGEROUS.
Mileage: 130,000
FORD DEATH WOBBLE 2015 F250 HAS 80200 MILES, I RAN OVER A BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT ON I-40 ROAD WAS A STRAIGHT SECTION IN TN MY SPEED OF 74 MILES PER HOUR, (CRUISE CONTROL) AFTER DRIVING 11 HRS AND ONLY 50 MILES FROM HOME. I HIT THE TYPICAL HIGHWAY BUMP AND THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK TOOK OFF VIOLENTLY SHAKING LEFT AND RIGHT BOUNCING UP AND DOWN ALL AT THE SAME TIME! JUMPING BRAKES STEERING FOR THE ROAD SHOULDER WASN'T SURE THE STEERING WAS EVEN WORKING I ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT SLOWED DOWN FROM 74 TO 50 FRONT WHEELS AND STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL TRUCK ISN'T SAFE FOR TRAVEL.
Mileage: 80,200
THE VEHICLE WILL START TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHEN TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 30-50 MILES AN HOUR IF THE ROAD IS NOT SMOOTH. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME. FORD REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER BUT THAT DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THEY ARE NOW SAYING THAT IT MAY BE THE TRACTION BAR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE FRONT END SHAKES SO VIOLENTLY THAT IT ALMOST CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH A VEHICLE THAT ONLY HAS 107000 MILES.
Mileage: 103,000
WHILE DRIVING ON LOCAL ROADS THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS SHAKING, THE FRONT WHEELS ARE WOBBLING AND CAUSING THE TRUCK TO BECOME UNSTABLE. IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN CONTROL I HAVE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN UNTIL THE WOBBLING STOPS. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN ON VERY SMOOTH AND FLAT HIGHWAYS. IT FIRST HAPPENED AROUND TWO YEARS AFTER I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW BUT I DIDN'T THINK IT WAS AN ISSUE AS IT ONLY HAPPENED ON ONE CERTAIN STRETCH OF ROAD THAT I TRAVELED OCCASIONALLY. IN THE LAST YEAR IT HAS STARTED HAPPENING MORE AND MORE OFTEN CAUSING ME CONCERN THAT THE TRUCK COULD BECOME UNCONTROLLABLE. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND HAS NEVER BEEN USED OFF ROAD OR HAULED/PULLED HEAVY LOADS. THE STOCK SUSPENSION IS NOT MODIFIED/LIFTED.
Mileage: 28,000
GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND STARTED EXPERIENCING THE DEATH WOBBLE. COULD BARELY HOLD ON TO THE STEERING WHEEL AND FELT LIKE A TIRE WAS GONNA COME OFF.
Mileage: 223,540
HIT A BUMP ON INTERSTATE AND TRUCK BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY AS IF IT WERE ABOUT TO COME APART. SLOWED DOWN TO 30 MPH (ON THE INTERSTATE!) AND THE SHAKING STOPPED. RECENTLY HAD WORK DONE ON THE STEERING DAMPER AND OTHER SUSPENSION ELEMENTS. UNSURE IF THIS FIX WORKED.
Mileage: 98,000
I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK ON 6 LANE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, 65-75MPH. WHEN I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD THE ENTIRE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE TRUCK WAS HARD TO CONTROL AND THE STEERING AND BRAKING OF THE VEHICLE WERE GREATLY IMPAIRED AND THE SHAKING DIDN'T STOP UNTIL I DECREASED THE SPEED BY AT LEAST 15-20MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN EITHER ONE TIRE HITS A POTHOLE IN THE ROAD OR BOTH TIRES HIT AN UNEVEN BRIDGE ON THE HIGHWAY.
Mileage: 97,500
THIS TRUCK HAS WHAT IS KNOWN AS IN THE INTERNET AS DEATH WOBBLE, I GOT THE VEHICLE RECENTLY FROM A DEALER WITH NO INFO ON THE MANNER. THE TRUCK LOSES CONTROL BRIEFLY WHEN OVER 60 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE FRONT TIRES DRIVE THROUGH SMALL HOLES OR BUMPS ON THE ROAD, MORE COMMON ON THE HIGHWAY. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, TBIS SPECIFIC INCIDENT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY OVER 60 MILES PER HOUR, LOST CONTROL BRIEFLY, HAD TO SIGNIFICANTLY SLOW DOWN TO REGAIN CONTROL.
Mileage: 120,000
MY 2015 F250 HAS DEVELOPED THE NOTORIOUS FORD DEATH WOBBLE. WHEN THE TRUCK HITS A BUMP, BRIDGE JOINT, OR ANY LARGE ENOUGH DEFORMITY IN THE ROAD IT WILL CAUSE THE TRUCK TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND LOSE ALL STEERING CONTROL. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 SEPARATE TIMES NOW AND IT IS ONLY GETTING MORE FREQUENT. I HAVE BOOKED AN APPOINTMENT WITH A FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON 24JUN2020 TO HAVE THE SUSPENSION LOOKED AT. UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DOCUMENT THE INCIDENT YET, BUT I HAVE HAD OTHERS IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME WHEN IT HAS HAPPENED. *TR

TENGO UNA FORD 250 2015 Y EN VARIAS OCASIONES CUANDO VOY CONDUCIENDO A 50 MILLAS Y HAY PARCHES IRREGULARES EN LA CARRETERA O ALGUNA IRREGULARIDAD EN LA CALLE EL VEHCULO COMIENZA A TEMBLAR Y PIERDO EL CONTROL DEL VOLANTE TENGO QUE REDUCIR LA VELOCIDAD PARA QUE VUELVA A LA NORMALIDAD. LE HE REEMPLAZADO LA BARRA DEL PITMAN Y LOS TERMINALES,PERO CONTINA CON EL PROBLEMA. I HAVE A 2015 FORD 250 AND ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN I'M DRIVING 50 MILES AND THERE ARE IRREGULAR PATCHES ON THE ROAD OR SOME IRREGULARITY ON THE STREET THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO SHAKE AND I LOSE THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROL I HAVE TO REDUCE THE SPEED . I HAVE REPLACED THE PITMAN BAR AND TERMINALS, BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. *TR

MY TRUCK IS EXPERIENCING THE "DEATH WOBBLE" IT STARTS AT SPEEDS AS SLOW AS 20MPH AND GETS VERY BAD AND VERY HARD TO CONTROL STARTING AT 60MPH. THE TRUCK SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND FEELS LIKE IT IS ABOUT TO SHAKE APART ON ANY HIGHWAY OR STREET. IT DOES IT IN TURNS AND WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT. I HAVE A VIDEO OF IT HAPPENING BUT THIS SITE WONT ALLOW ME TO UPLOAD IT. *TR
Mileage: 60
I WAS GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 75 MILES AN HOUR AND WENT OVER A BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT AND THE TRUCK WENT INTO A VIOLENT SHAKE. I HAD TO FIGHT THE TRUCK TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD. ONCE I SLOWED TO UNDER 25MPH THE VIOLENT SHAKE STOPPED. *TR

SEVERE AND REPEATED BOUNCING OF STEERING TIRES. HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE TRUCK. FORD'S RESPONSE HAS BEEN NOTHING MORE THAN REPLACE THE STEERING DAMPENER. IS NOT A FIX, ONLY MASKS THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. NOW THE VEHICLE IS OFF WARRANTY AND THEY STILL WON'T/CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. I'M AFRAID TO LET OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR FEAR OF CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. IT HAPPENS ANYWHERE BETWEEN 45-70 MPH AND COMPLETELY WITHOUT WARNING. REQUIRES IMMEDIATE LOWERING OF SPEED IN TRAFFIC TO GET IT TO STOP. NUMEROUS CLOSE CALLS PEOPLE SWERVING TO GETAWAY FROM MY VEHICLE WHEN CONDITION OCCURS. PLEASE DEMAND A RECALL, THIS IS NOT SOMETHING NEW AND FMC IS VERY AWARE OF IT. *TR
Mileage: 15,000
I WAS DRIVING MY FORD 2015 F-250 IN MOTION. AFTER STOPPING AT THE STOP SIGN, I PROCEEDED TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY AND I WAS STARTING TO ACCELERATE TO HIGHWAY SPEED. THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO WOBBLE A LOT BACK AND FORTH AND I COULD DRIVE THE TRUCK SAFELY. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN ENOUGH WHILE STEERING WHEEL WAS WOBBLING BACK AND FORTH TO GET THE TRUCK UNDER CONTROL AND STOP. I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME AND PARK IT. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO MY MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THAT TWO BALL JOINTS ARE LOOSE AND THEY SHOULD NOT LOOSE TO THE TOUCH. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE TRACKER BAR IS LOOSE TO THE TOUCH. ALL THREE ITEMS SHOULD BE TIGHT. I UPLOADED THE PHOTO I TOOK AT THE REPAIR SHOP SHOWING THE BALL JOINT. PLEASE HAVE FORD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS DANGEROUS ACTION. *TR
Mileage: 70,000
I WAS DRIVING AT 60 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE FLYOVER THAT WAS CURVING TO THE LEFT AND HIT AN EXPANSION JOINT. THE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. I ALMOST LOST CONTROL AND HAD TO QUICKLY SLOW DOWN TO AROUND 30 MPH BEFORE THE SHAKING STOPPED. *TR

BOUGHT THIS F 250 PLATINUM NEW IN 2015 IT STARTED HAVING A FRONT END WOBBLE PROBLEM ,SOME CALL IT THE "DEATH WOBBLE' I PAID TO HAVE IT FIXED AND IT HAS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THEN AND NOW IT IS WORSE THAN EVER, I CANNOT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE SELL THIS CAR LIKE THIS.
Mileage: 172,000
FRONT SUSPENSION SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN TRAVELING ABOVE 50MPH AND STRIKING ANY TYPE OF UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE. BUMPS, HOLES, GROVES, EXPANSION JOINTS, ETC CAUSE THE FRONT WHEELS TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY UNTIL THE TRUCK SLOWS DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 25MPH.
Mileage: 4
VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WILL BEGIN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY.
Mileage: 51,000
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK WILL START VIOLENTLY SHAKING BACK AND FORTH, LOSING CONTROL OF THE STEERING. THIS IS ONLY CORRECTED BY DRASTICALLY REDUCING SPEED ON THE FREEWAY.

"DEATH WOBBLE" MY TRUCK IS EXPERIENCING A VIOLENT SHACKING OF THE STEERING WHEE ( DEATH WOBBLE) WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP OR POTHOLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
Mileage: 70,000
WITH APPROXIMATELY 35,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK, I EXPERIENCED A EXTREMELY VIOLENT OSCILLATION IN THE STEERING. EVERYTHING IN THE TRUCK WAS SHAKING AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO HOLD ONTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL I COULD DECREASE SPEED TO ABOUT 50MPH OR LESS. THE OSCILLATION DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN FOR APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS. THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN 2 TIMES BACK TO BACK. AFTER THAT I DID NOT HAVE THE ISSUE FOR MORE THAN A YEAR. THEN ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO (WITH ROUGHLY 49,000 MILES), IT STARTED BACK AGAIN AND HAS HAPPENED COUNTLESS TIMES SINCE. WHEN I REACH 60MPH THE OSCILLATION STARTS OUT LIGHT BUT PROGRESSIVELY GETS WORSE UNTIL IT IS IN A FULL ON "DEATH WOBBLE". ALL ITEMS IN THE TRUCK ARE SHAKING AROUND AND FALLING IN THE FLOOR. MY WIFE WILL NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND I WOULDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH HER DRIVING IT. I AM WRITING THIS REPORT MAINLY FOR THE THOUSANDS OF OTHER FORD SUPER DUTY OWNERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE AND FOR SOME, HAVE BEEN IN ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF IT. THERE ARE LITERALLY FACEBOOK GROUPS CREATED SOLELY FOR THE DISCUSSION OF THE "FORD DEATH WOBBLE" AND ANY POTENTIAL SOLUTIONS. FROM REPORTS I HAVE READ, THE DEALERSHIPS, IN MANY CASES HAVE NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN CORRECTING THE ISSUE. SOME REPORTS STATE THE REPAIRS AND SAY THAT IT WAS A "BAND-AID" AND THAT THE ISSUE RETURNED SHORTLY AFTER THE REPAIRS. OTHERS SAY THAT THE DEALERS HAVE TOLD THEM THAT THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO. THERE ALSO HAVE BEEN SOME REPORTS THAT SAYS IT WAS CORRECTED, AT LEAST FOR THE TIME BEING. I HAVE SEEN REPORTS ON VEHICLES AS NEW AS 2019 MODELS WITH AROUND 5,000 MILES ON THEM. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY RELATED ISSUE AND I HOPE FORD IS PUSHED TO MAKE THIS RIGHT FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. I HAVE VIDEOS BUT THEY ARE THE WRONG FILE TYPE. DATE BELOW IS MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE. THANKS!

BOUGHT USED F250 OCTOBER 2018 WITH APPROXIMATELY 55,000 MILES. WENT INTO SHOP FOR P207F ON 12/10/18. INSTALLED CCV COLLAR KIT AND REPROGRAMMED PCM @ 57,104 MILES. 12/24/18 TRUCK BACK INTO SHOP FOR P207F CODE. NOX SENSORS REPLACED @ 57,473. IN JANUARY 2020, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND LIMP MODE MESSAGE DISPLAYED. NOX SENSORS REPLACED AGAIN FOR P207F CODE ON 1/17/20 @ 69.700 MILES APPROX. NOX SENSORS ONLY A YEAR OLD. PER MECHANIC, CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS SUSPECT - BUT IS ON INDEFINITE BACK ORDER WITH FORD. 1/24/20 WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD @ 60MPH THE TRUCK STARTED THE "DEATH WOBBLE". TRUCK BACK IN SHOP, BAD TRACK BAR REPLACED. WHEEL DAMPER NEEDS REPLACING, BUT THIS PART IS ALSO ON INDEFINITE BACK ORDER.

DEATH WOBBLE. STEERING WHEEL SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY.
WHEN TRUCK HITS A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY IN A LEFT HAND CURVE AND DOWN HILL SLOPE, IT STARTS SHAKING VIOLENTLY. IT BECOMES HARD TO STEER AND BRAKING HARD ONLY MAKES THE PROBLEM WORSE. YOU CAN ONLY LEFT OFF THE GAS AND SLOW DOWN HOPING YOU CAN KEEP IT ON THE ROAD UNTIL IT STOPS. IT HAPPENED TWICE ON OUR FAMILY VACATION WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS IN THE TRUCK. THEY FEARED FOR THEIR LIVES. AFTER THAT TRIP THE DUAL STEERING STABILIZER, 2"LIFT AND ADJUSTABLE TRACK BAR WERE INSTALLED.IT TOOK 6 MONTHS OF REPLACING DIFFERENT PARTS, ALIGNMENTS, BALANCING TIRES, MODIFYING SUSPENSION TO FINALLY CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT A COST OF OVER $2,600.00.

I HAVE A 2015 F250 6.7 PLATINUM POWERSTROKE WITH 78K ON IT AND I'M EXPERIENCING THE "FORD DEATH WOBBLE." I CAN NOT GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER FROM ANYBODY AND I'M STICK WITH THIS ISSUE. THE TRUCK IS NOT EVEN SAFE TO DRIVE. AS SOON AS MY SPEED REACHES AROUND 50MPH I GET AN UNCONTROLLABLE FRONT END SHAKING, TO THE POINT WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL TAKES 2 HANDS TO HOLD ONTO AND I HAVE TO DECELERATE TO ABOUT 10-15MPH TO STRAIGHTEN THE TRUCK OUT AGAIN. I THOUGHT IT WAS TIRES, SO I WENT OUT AND HAD $1,600 WORTH OF TIRES PUT ON IT WITH AN ALIGNMENT, NOPE. NOT THE TIRES. SO I TOOK IT MY LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO I TRUST VERY WELL. HE WENT THROUGH MY FRONT END WITH A FINE TOOTH COMB ONLY TO DISCOVER A WORN U-JOINT ON THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE AXEL WHICH ISNT THE CAUSE OF THE FORD DEATH WOBBLE. HE LITERALLY TOLD ME THAT HE WAS AT A LOSS FOR WORD AND COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM BECAUSE MY FRONT END WAS SO TIGHT AND STIFF. LONG STORY SHORT, I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT FORD RECOGNIZES THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT'S A STEERING DAMPENER. WELL, GUESS WHAT? MY 2015 F250 DOES NOT HAVE A STEERING DAMPENER! THE FORD SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME I WAS PRETTY MUCH FU*%ED! WOW! WHAT A SLAP IN THE FACE!!

DEATH WOBBLE: WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING AND HITS A GROOVE OR BUMP (DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A MAJOR GROOVE OR BUMP) IN THE ROAD GOING UPWARD OF 50 MPH, IT WILL BEGIN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE SHAKING CAN ONLY BE STOPPED BY A SUDDEN AND SUBSTANTIAL REDUCTION OF SPEED, WHICH ADDS TO THE DANGER, PARTICULARLY ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE SEVERAL VIDEOS OF THIS OCCURRING THAT I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE. THE VIDEOS TAKE PLACE AFTER BRINGING IT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEM CLAIMING NOTHING IS WRONG.
Mileage: 86,000
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 60-70 MPH I DROVE ACROSS A BRIDGE TRANSITION POINT WHEN OUT OF THE BLUE MY TRUCK BEGAN TO WOBBLE EXCESSIVELY TO THE POINT I HAD TO MERGE TO MY RIGHT AND SLOW DOWN TO UNDER 40 MPH TO GET THE WOBBLE TO STOP. CARS BEHIND COULD SEE I WAS IN SOME SORT OF TROUBLE AND THEY WOULD NOT PASS ME. ONCE THE WOBBLE STOPPED I PROCEEDED TO MERGE BACK ONTO THE FREEWAY AND ONCE AGAIN THE WOBBLE STARTED AS SOON AS I PASSED OVER THE BRIDGE TRANSITION. AGAIN I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND MOVED OVER TO THE RIGHT FOR MY SAFETY AS WELL AS OTHERS. THE MILEAGE ON MY TRUCK AT THAT TIME WAS 20,780 MILES. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO MY FORD DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO THEM. THEY INSPECTED THE TRUCK AND REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER ASSEMBLY. THE PROBLEM DID GO AWAY UNTIL AUGUST 19, 2019 WITH 34,052 MILES WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN IN THE SAME LOCATION. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER AGAIN. IT RESOLVED THE ISSUE FOR 1695 MILES AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN SEVERAL TIME AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS ON DIFFERENT FREEWAYS. THIS TIME REPLACING THE DAMPER DID NOT WORK. THEY ALSO TOLD ME I NEEDED TO HAVE THEM INSTALL A CASTER/CAMBER ADJUSTER SHIM TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THAT ALSO DID NOT WORK. THEY HAVE READJUSTED THE CAMBER AND CASTER WITH WORSE RESULTS. THEY NOW TELL ME THAT I NEED TO REPLACE MY TIRES WHICH STILL HAVE 6/32 OF TREAD LEFT ON THEM. THE TRUCK HAS NOW BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR SIX WEEKS WITH NO FIX AVAILABLE. THEY PUT A SET OF TIRES AND RIMS OFF OF ANOTHER NEW TRUCK AND SAID THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. SO WHAT THERE TELLING ME IS I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE MY TIRES EVERY 20,000 MILES WHICH BE RIDICULOUS. FORD HAS A BIG PROBLEM THAT THEY DON'T WANT TO ADMIT. I BELIEVE A DUAL STEERING STABILIZER UNIT WILL FIX THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY DON'T WANT TO ADMIT THAT WOULD WORK. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ASAP TO SAVE LIVES.
Mileage: 20,780
TWICE DRIVING ON FREEWAYS DOING ABOUT 70MPH THE ENTIRE TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE/VIBRATE VIOLENTLY. THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES, AND THE ENTIRE CAB SHAKES LIKE AN EARTHQUAKE. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO ABOUT 40MPH TO GET IT TO STOP SHAKING.
Mileage: 65,000
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND ENCOUNTERING ROAD IRREGULARITIES, TRUCK ENTERS INTO "DEATH WOBBLE" CONDITION WHEREBY TRUCK SHAKES VIOLENTLY UNTIL SPEED IS REDUCED TO <30 MPH. SUSPENSION WAS REBUILT 3 MONTHS AGO BY FORD DEALER AND CONDITION HAS RETURNED. IN THESE SITUATIONS THE VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND COULD EASILY RESULT IN TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH AND GREATER.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2015 F250 SUPER DUTY. IT WAS A CLEAN TITLE NO ACCIDENTS. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE TRUCK I WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 43 -55 MPH ON A COUNTY ROAD WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL AND IN FACT THE ENTIRE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING SO VIOLENTLY I WAS HAVING TROUBLE MAINTAINING CONTROL. I MANAGED TO SLOW DOWN QUICKLY AND IT STOPPED. AFTER SEVERAL MORE OCCURRENCES ALL AT THE SAME SPEEDS I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A SPECIALTY WHEEL AND ALIGNMENT SHOP AND PAID NEARLY 1,000 DOLLARS TO HAVE THIS FIXED. AFTER NEW BUSHINGS, NEW TIRES, NEW SHOCKS, NEW STEERING AND NEW ALIGNMENT IT ABATED FOR 3 MONTHS. IT IS NOW BACK AND AS SCARY AS EVER. I HAD A 2004 F250 SUPER DUTY AND NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF ISSUE. I HAVE NOW LEARNED THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT FORD WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE OR EVEN RECALL. I MAY HAVE TO SELL THIS TRUCK BECAUSE OF THE DANGER TO THE REST OF MY FAMILY. THERE IS ALSO A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT OVER THIS KNOWN AND VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE MORE MONEY AND MORE DAMAGE IS CAUSED. IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN IN A TRUCK THAT DOES THIS COME TO TEXAS AND TAKE A RIDE WITH ME. I PROMISE IT WILL SCARE YOU INTO ACTION. THIS HAS BEEN MY PROBLEM SINCE MARCH. IT IS ALWAYS ON ROUGHER ROADS OR AFTER HITTING UNEVEN PAVEMENT.

HELLO, ON HIGHWAY GOING BETWEEN 60-70 MILES AN HOUR, IT GOES INTO A DEATH WOBBLE THAT NEARLY THREW TRUCK OFF ROAD. VERY SCARY SITUATION. APPEARS FROM READING ONLINE THIS HAD BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH FORD F250 PICKUP TRUCKS FROM READING ONLINE CONSUMER COMPLAINTS.

THE STEERING ON MY 2015 FORD F250 HAS A VERY SERIOUS WOBBLE. IT OCCURS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (55-70 MPH), IT IS A VERY VIOLENT SHAKING THAT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF MY TRUCK. I HAVE REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER, SHOCKS AND STEERING ARM BALL JOINT. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING ALL TIE ROD ENDS NOW AS I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT OVER 50 MPH.

DEATH WOOBLE WHEN HITTING BUMP
Mileage: 90,000
STARTED HAVING DEATH WOBBLE LAST YEAR AT ABOUT 95000 MILES. PUT NEW TIRES ON IT, NEW ROTORS, TRACKBAR, DRAGLINK, TIE RODS. I THINK IT IS A LOT MORE CONTROLLABLE BUT IT STILL BUMP STEERS IN CURVES AND THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN HITTING A BUMP BUT DOESN'T BREAK INTO DEATH WOBBLE. I'VE JUST REPORTED THREE VEHICLES THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM ALL IN THE LAST YEAR.
Mileage: 95,000
VEHICLE STEERING BEGINS VIOLENT WOBBLE AT MID AND HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE AND IS NORMALLY INITIATED BY EXPANSION JOINT AND ROAD FEATURES. THE WOBBLE BECOMES UNCONTROLLABLE AND IS A SERIOUS RISK TO THE DRIVER AND ADJACENT VEHICLES.
Mileage: 90,000
DEATH WOBBLE EXPERIENCED BY ME ON 5/10/19 DOING 60 ON RURAL ROAD. EXPERIENCED THE DEATH WOBBLE ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 65 AT LEAST 6 TIMES THE NEXT TIME. A MOTORCYCLE ALMOST CRASHED-FORD FIXED BY FRONT END ALIGNMENT-EXPERIENCED IT AGAIN AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL ON THE INTERSTATE. TOOK TO FORD TO REPAIR AND THE SVC MGR SUGGESTED WE FILE A CASE NUMBER WITH FORD CAS-22221345-C3V0P4 ON 7/23/19, FORD CUST EXPERIENCE SPECIALIST SUGGESTED WE TAKE TO ANOTHER DEALER, TOOK TO TOOK TO GORDIE BOUCHER WHO SAID IT RECOMMENDS REPLACING BOTH TIE RODS DUE TO INNER TIE ROD AT THE PITMAN ARM HAS PLAY IN IT AND THE RIGHT SIDE UPPER TIE ROD HAS PLAY IT IT TOOPREPLACED LEFT SIDE DRAG LINK AND THE RIGHT SIDE UPPER TIE. DEALER STATED WORSE TRUCK THEY HAD EVER DRIVEN. DEATH WOBBLE HAPPENED AGAIN GOING 35 DOWN HWY H IN KENOSHA COUNTY. EVERYTIME THIS HAPPENED WE HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OR AN OFF RAMP ON THE INTERSTATE DUE TO CONSTRUCTION. WAITING FOR AN OFF RAMP IS THE SCARIEST BECAUSE YOU HOPE YOU CAN CONTROL THE TRUCK TO MAKE IT OFF THE INTERSTATE. MY HUSBAND DID RESEARCH AND FOUND OTHERS REPLACED THE FOLLOWING SO HE DID THE SAME-REPLACE THE STEERING SHOCK, THE STABILIZING BAR ASSEMBLY, THE TRACK BAR ASSEMBLY, AND THE FRONT SHOCKS. FORD DID 2 FRONT END ALIGNMENTS, THEY TURNED ROTORS ALSO..FORD CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE SPECIALISTS KEEPS TELLING US TO TAKE TO THE DEALER TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. PER FORD, TIRE TREAD AND WEAR ARE GOOD. IT APPEARS EVERYTHING MY HUSBAND HAS DONE HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM, BUT WE WILL SEE WHEN WE DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD ON OUR NEXT INTERSTATE TRIP. RIGHT NOW WE HAVE PAID OUT $1,675 AND MY HUSBAND HAS DONE ALL THE WORK. WE ARE SCARED TO DEATH THAT SOMETHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN. WE ARE UNSURE WHAT STEPS WE SHOULD BE TAKING, BUT WE ARE AFRAID WE COULD DIE AND NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT THIS.

DRIVING 55 MPH ON HWY 161 IN AR (IN MOTION) WHEN I HIT A ROUGH SPOT ABOUT 2' BUMP THAT COMPLETELY CROSSED THE LANE I WAS DRIVING IN, THE FRONT WHEELS SHOOK SO VIOLENTLY I WAS ABOUT TO LOSE CONTROL WHEN THE STEERING LOCKED UP. I HAD TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE I COULD REGAIN CONTROL OF THE STEERING. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A FRONT END SHOP AND ALL THEY COULD FIND WRONG WAS THE BALL JOINTS WERE A LITTLE WORN, I HAD THEM REPLACED AND THE TRUCK DID BETTER FOR ABOUT 3,000 MILES AND NOW IT'S WORSE THAN EVER. A TRUCK WITH 66,000 MILES ON IT SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. HAS THERE BEEN ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS LIKE THIS WITH FORD.?
Mileage: 66,167
MY TRUCK HAS GONE INTO WHAT THEY CALL A DEATH WOBBLE WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS GOING OVER A BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINTS. THIS HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES. FRONT END SHAKES VIOLENTLY CAUSING ME TO DRIVE OFF THE HIGHWAY ON TO THE BERM. I CUT OFF THE CAR NEXT TO MY DURING ONE OF THESE OCCURRENCES ALMOST HITTING HIS CAR. THE LATEST OCCURRENCE WAS 6/17/19.
Mileage: 34,000
I HAVE EXPERIENCED WHAT HAS BECOME KNOWN AS THE FORD DEATH WOBBLE. MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH THIS WAS AT LESS THAN 50,000 MILES. I WAS EXITING A FREEWAY OFF RAMP AT ABOUT 60 MPH WITH MY STEERING WHEEL COCKED JUST TO THE LEFT. I HIT A SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD AND MY STEERING WHEEL BECAME VIOLENT IN MY HAND CAUSING ME TO BRIEFLY LOOSE CONTROL AND ALMOST RUN OFF THE ROAD. THIS IS AN EXPERIENCE THAT NOBODY SHOULD EVER HAVE TO EXPERIENCE. I CANNOT REMEMBER A TIME IN MY 55 YEARS THAT I FELT SO HOPELESSLY OUT OF CONTROL OF A SITUATION. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND HAD SOME FRONT END PARTS REPLACED AND HAD THE FRONT END ALIGNED. THE PROBLEM WAS CURED FOR ANOTHER 40,000 MILES UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT HAPPENED A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND THE ONLY WAY I COULD MAKE IT QUIT WAS BY HITTING THE BRAKES AND GETTING DOWN BELOW 20 MPH. OF COURSE AT FREEWAY SPEEDS THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND EMBARRASSING. REPLACED SEVERAL FRONT END PARTS AGAIN, THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY AGAIN UNTIL THE NEXT TIME. THEN AGAIN THIS TIME WHICH IS THE 4TH TIME IN 150,000 MILES. I DO NOT KNOW HOW I HAVE NOT BEEN KILLED BY THIS VERY COMMON FORD PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY THIS TIME I HAVE REPLACED ALMOST THE WHOLE FRONT END, HAD THE FRONT END ALIGNED AND THE PROBLEM HAS NOW GOTTEN SO BAD THAT I CANNOT EVEN DRIVE THE TRUCK. IF I GET UP OVER 40 MPH I CAN EVEN FEEL IN THE STEERING WHEEL THAT IT IS RIGHT ON THE VERGE OF THE DREADED DEATH WOBBLE. I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT PEOPLE HAVE LOST CONTROL AND HAVE EVEN BEEN KILLED BY THIS ISSUE. I TALKED TO A GENTLEMAN AT FORD AND HE ACTED AS IF HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE. THIS MUST BE FIXED!!
Mileage: 50,000
WHENEVER I HIT A BUMP GOING 30 PLUS MILES AN HOUR THE FRONT END SHAKES VIOLENTLY IN THE STEERING WHEEL JUMPS OUT OF MY HAND. I HAVE CHANGED THE SHOCKS BALANCE THE TIRES AND INSPECTED ALL THE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS AND I CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM.

TRAVELING AT OR ABOVE 60 MPH WHEN HITTING OVER PASS OR BRIDGE EXPANSIONS TRUCK WILL START TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE AND GO INTO WHAT IS CALLED DEATH WOBBLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-250. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED AS IF IT HAD BEEN SNATCHED OUT OF THE CONTACT'S HANDS. THE VEHICLE STOPPED WHEN IT DROVE INTO A DITCH. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE SLOWLY TO THE DEALER (ALL STAR FORD PALESTINE, 2929 S LOOP 256, PALESTINE, TX 75801) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRACTION BAR FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000.

F250 DEATH WOBBLE MY 2015 F250 PICK-UP TRUCK IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD WITH 38,000 MILES AND IT HAS THE DEATH WOBBLE. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 50 MPH OR HIGHER, PRESSING THE BRAKE AND HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO AN UNCONTROLLABLE WOBBLE. IT IS CALLED THE DEATH WOBBLE. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME ON THE HIGHWAY. TIRES AND BRAKES ARE BRAND NEW - SILL HAPPENS.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, THE TRUCK UNEXPECTEDLY STARTS WHAT IS CALLED THE "DEATH WOBBLE". THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE TRUCK STARTS TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY, AND THE ONLY SOLUTION TO FIX THE PROBLEM IS COME TO A VERY SLOW SPEED OR A DEAD STOP. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT HAPPENS ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE. THERE ARE A TON OF COMPLAINTS OUT THERE REGARDING THIS MATTER, AND SEVERAL VIDEOS OUT THERE REGARDING THIS MATTER. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS MATTER, AS IT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE, AND SOMEONE WILL BE INJURED OR DIE BECAUSE OF THIS. MY TRUCK IS PAMPERED, AND ONLY HAS 55K ON IT, SO THIS ISN'T BECAUSE OF ABUSE.

THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRUCK LOSING STEERING WHEN ENCOUNTERING BUMPY ROADS OR MULTIPLE POTHOLES IN A ROW WHENEVER SPEED IS ABOVE 30 MPH. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS I HAVE LITERALLY LOST CONTROL ENOUGH THAT I CROSS LANES, UNCONTROLLABLY BECAUSE I HAVE ENCOUNTERED DEFECTS IN THE ROAD SURFACE. I HAVE TRAVELED ACROSS THE SAME ROAD SURFACE IN OTHER VEHICLES AT SIMILAR SPEEDS AND HAVE NO NOTICABLE EFFECTS. THE 2015 F250 SD HAS THE SAME LOSS IN CONTROL EVERY TIME.

I HAVE EXPERIENCED AN EXTREME SHIMMING (DEATH WOBBLE) NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED ON THE FREEWAY. AFTER GOING OVER A BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT OR JUST A ROUGH SPOT IN THE HIGHWAY, MY TRUCK STARTS SHIMMING SO VIOLENTLY THAT I HAVE TO BRAKE HARD TO SLOW THE TRUCK UNTIL IT STOPS. THIS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE YESTERDAY (7/14/17). THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BEHIND ME WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE SECOND TIME I WAS IN THE SLOW LANE AND WAS ABLE TO GET ON THE SHOULDER TO DECELERATE. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME MY WIFE WAS WITH ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND SHE SAID IF SHE WAS DRIVING SHE WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE TRUCK. I UNDERSTAND FROM SPEAKING WITH OTHER FORD F-250 4X4 OWNERS THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE. IS ANYTHING BEING DONE TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE. I DID NOT SEE ANY RECALL FOR THIS ON YOUR SITE OR ON FORD'S SITE. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALER, NEXT WEDNESDAY TO HAVE THEM CHECK THE FRONT SUSPENSION FOR ANY DEFECTS BUT I WANTED TO ADD MY NAME TO WHAT I AM SURE IS A LONG LIST OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. DOES SOMEBODY HAVE TO DIE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE BEFORE IT IS ADDRESSED?

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-250. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BECAME TURBULENT, SHOOK, AND A KNOCKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PARK AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO STOP THE FAILURE FROM OCCURRING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FIVE TIMES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS NO REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE FAILURE DID NOT QUALIFY UNDER THE LEMON LAW. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
