Ford has issued a number of recalls for issues on Ford F-Super Duty (F-250) with rearview cameras in their vehicles. I am also experiencing the same issues with my 2016 Ford F-Super Duty (F-250) rearview camera that displays a blank or distorted image causing no visibility while backing up, increasing my risk of a crash. The issue, Covington Ford Inc., Service Department located at 9101 Dr Martin Luther King Ave, Covington, GA 30014 (770-786-3432) explained to me is that it is caused by a loss of electrical conductivity due to fretting corrosion on the terminal header connector inside the camera and misalignment of the connectors. I am also experiencing a full black image on the SYNC screen when placed in reverse or when the 360-degree view is selected as well. Diagnostics were completed 5/21/2025 costing me $150.00. Proof of diagnostics cost can be provided upon request. Covington Ford Inc. indicated I would need a new camera installed at a charge of $727.24 + tax not including the cost of the diagnostics. Estimated total cost of repairs including diagnostic charge would be $877.24 + tax. In addition to being a safety hazard, I use this vehicle to back up to and connect to trailers necessary for my income and need to have this repair completed.
No accident Backup camera does not work most of the time
After we drove over a bumpy section of road the truck experienced uncontrollable shaking. The road conditions were not severe, but were the cause of the shaking. During the immediate aftermath no input was possible apart from taking my foot off the accelerator. The shaking was severe and uncontrolled causing other vehicles in the vicinity to react. It felt like the truck was going to flip over. This has now happened several times since we purchased the truck. We recently had new brakes installed, but that is not the reason for the shaking.
-I was driving 65 mph in morning rush traffic when I drove over an overpass. Near the end of the there are some small wrinkles in the concrete. Once I drove over these wrinkles in the pavement, my steering wheel and front end started violently shaking. I removed my foot from the accelerator and once my speed decreased to I'd say 20-30 mph the shaking stopped. My research show that this if referred to as the Ford Death Wobble. -The system that failed were likely the track bar bushing, damper bracket, ball joints, control arms, shocks, and struts. Yes, the truck is available for inspection upon request. -When the front end of the truck started violently shacking I was going 65 mph in lunch rush hour traffic. I'd say that my life and the life of the drivers of the vehicles to my left, right, and rear were at risk. -No, the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or anyone else. -No, the vehicle or components have not been inspected by anyone. -No, there were not any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, nor did any warning appear during or after the shaking. -My best assessment of the cause
The truck shakes violently after hitting a bump in the road. I have had new Michelin tires installed (by Discount Tires) and balanced twice, and the front end and alignment checked (by Leonard's Truck & Frame Service), both located in Lake City, FL. I think the problem is what is commonly referred to as F250 "Death Wobble".
I was attempting to access the interstate when my truck began to immediately shut down at 70 miles per hour. I received a warning as the engine shut down stating that my engine power was reduced. At the exact moment the message displayed, the truck immediately died at 70 mph leaving me to be forced to wrestle the steering wheel to maneuver the truck to the side of the interstate as I had no power steering due to the failure. I have been informed that my truck is a victim of a catastrophic engine failure as a result of a failed CP4 OEM Bosch high-pressure fuel pump. The failure has resulted in the complete contamination of the fuel system requiring a complete overhaul with parts cost at $6,600.00 and approximately $4,000.00 in labor for a total of more than $10,600.00. on a low mileage diesel.
I recently received a warning for P20BA informing me that the truck had a failed DEF heater. The unit was not in warranty and parts estimate for this is $360.00-$400.00 with an additional $400.00 dollars in labor for a total cost at minimum of $800.00 to $1,000.00 to replace a part that Ford Motor Company knew was a high failure rate part that would not meet industry standards.
Ford has consistently indicated that the replacement part is available and it is not. Oou truck has a heated steering wheel. The clock spring for the heated steering wheel is different from the standard clock spring. FORD DOES NOT HAVE THE PART. Our truck is not safe to drive.
Severe shaking of front end at highway speeds (55-65mph) causing inability to control steering causing immediate reduction in speed to avoid accident and stopping. No warning lamps or messages prior to vehicle shaking. Road was dry and normal conditions. Did not hit any hazard, no potholes, or debris causing damage or explanation as to why truck began to shake. Safety of driver and passengers were at risk due to possible loss of control if continued driving. Problem continued returning to home where vehicle parked approximately 25 miles at 45 mph with no major shaking. This occurred August 6, 2023, at approximately 5:00pm. There was me and one passenger on way to doctor appointment in Tulsa, a 4-hour drive. Did not trust vehicle safety to continue trip. Drove it home and parked. Vehicle is going to be taken to Ford dealership, in Idabel, OK, where purchased and all maintenance has been done. Truck has 33,971.5 miles as sitting now. Not used extensively, highway miles. Will drive to dealership on August 16th, 2023. Leaving it there for them to diagnose and repair the problem. Available to be inspected.
Yesterday (3/20/23), as I was driving on the interstate at about 70 miles per hour, I hit a bump in the road and that caused the truck to go into severe shaking which I later learned has been termed as the "death wobble". I had to pull over to the emergency lane and stop the vehicle in order to get the vehicle under control. Luckily, there were not many vehicles on the road at the time so moving from the middle lane to the emergency lane on the right side was easy to do without causing any disruption to other drivers. I called my mechanic about the situation and he was the one to tell me it was the "death wobble" and it is common in Ford trucks and Jeeps. This was my first time experiencing this "death wobble" and it scared the crap out of me. In the past, I've hit bumps before and the truck felt like it might bounce off the road, but it never continuously shook (and shake violently) like it did yesterday. There was no warning or warning lights or anything like that that came on. As I was going to the emergency lane I did turn on the emergency flashers. I have an appointment with my mechanic to get this looked at in a week. That was the soonest I could get in.
Truck was driving 70 mph going to TN when it started shaking and grinding or awful noise. Lost control of steering d/t shaking. Slowed down and pulled over to side of road to check vehicle equipment. Made call to my son who said it's the death wobble, advised to slow below 60 mph. No death wobble again unless I hit a bump then it started again.
Death wobble. Uncontrollable shaking in steering to the point of loss of control. Occurs after a bumpy road or at speeds in excess of 45mph. This occurred on a packed interstate and by the grace of God we didn't wreck or be rear-ended by a semi.
I was driving on the highway going 65mph when my truck started violently shaking and I almost lost control, I had to pull to the shoulder and stop. This is the second time It has happened. It is very dangerous, thank god I drive with two hands. It is very scary and I could of hit another car.
10 times over about a 12 month period,(with 5 of the 10 happening in one 6 hour period, after we have spent thousands of dollars trying to fix this issue) if we run over a bump in the road at over 60 mph, the front end of the truck goes into violent, uncontrollable shaking. The only way to stop it is to smash the brakes as hard as you can to get the trucks speed below 30 mph so you can regain control of the steering wheel and front end. It’s one of the scariest things we have ever experienced. Please make FORD fix this problem before someone gets killed!!!!
Check engine code P2002. Dealer indicated the diesel particulate filter needs replaced. Found Ford Customer Satisfaction Program 20M06 which based on the description covers the issue but Ford says 20M06 is not attached to my VIN even though it represents the exact same issue.
What has been name “death wobble “ that occurs in Ford F 250 trucks and other. Where the front end of vehicle and steering wheel shakes violently making vehicle almost impossible to control until you bring vehicle to a stop
My engine light has come on as a result of an emissions problem. I have taken my truck to Ford service dept. 5 times, each time, they make an adjustment and claim there is nothing else to be done. How can I resolve this problem?
Diagnostic Trouble Code P21B0 Reductant level sensor C circuit high I know several people that have had this same issue concerning the DEF tank assembly costing close to $1000. A recall was issued for earlier models but doesnt cover my truck that now has this same issue. It's this type of failure that makes owners of diesel vehicles contemplate deleting these pollution reducing systems. Please consider an expanded recall.
Dpf heater (reductant heater) stopped working. Vehicle is slightly over 5 years old with 87k miles. NHTSA has a TSB (TSB 18-2190) on this part on 2011-2012 f-250/f-350 and 2011-2015 f-450 and f-550. The problem seems to still persist on the 2016 model…
It seems to happen at higher speeds with the change in pavement my front end started shaking violently and I felt like I was going to lose control of the vehicle. I had to reduce speed quickly to get control of the vehicle. I am concerned for my safety and the safety of others around me including those in my vehicle. I have tried to have it fixed at an auto repair shop and the problem has not resolved. I am trying to schedule an appointment with the dealer but they have a backlog.
I was driving at 70mph, and the truck went into the death wobble. Violently shaking and bouncing as I drove and slowed down to 25mph on the highway until it finally stopped. I was on a section of highway were I could not get off the road for about another half mile. It happened this morning at 7:15am, and I have not had the opportunity to take it in for service. There were no warning lights that came on. I fear for my safety if it were to happen again. If there was traffic behind me, I may not have been able to slow down as quickly as I did without being hit.
I RECENTLY BOUGHT A TRUCK FROM A SMALLER CAR DEALERSHIP ON FEB. 16 2021. THE VEHICLES ODOMETER READ 109,000 MILES WHEN I PURCHASED IT. IT'S BEEN A COUPLE OF MONTHS NOW AND I RECENTLY DECIDED TO RUN A CARFAX REPORT ON THE TRUCK AND IT SHOWED ME THAT THE TRUCKS ODOMETER HAD ONCE READ 136,000 MILES, AND 142,000 BEFORE IT WAS LABELLED AS "POTENTIAL ODOMETER ROLLBACK. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AFTER THIS POTENTIAL ODOMETER FRAUD WAS LABELLED BY CARFAX THE TRUCKS ODOMETER WENT TO 109,000 MILES, WHICH WAS HOW MANY MILES IT SAID THE TRUCK HAD WHEN I BOUGHT IT. I BELIEVE THAT I'M DEALING WITH ODOMETER FRAUD, AND I NEED TO GET THIS RESOLVED ASAP.
I AM GETTING A DEATH WOBBLE. I BOUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AROUND 50 THOUSAND MILES ON THE TRUCK AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK IN TO THIS. THEY TOLD ME I NEED TO CHANGE THE TIRES. WHICH I DID AND I ROTATE THEM EVERY 5,000 TO 10,000 MILES. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY TO NIGHT AT 70 MPH WHICH IS THE SPEED LIMIT. I WAS IN A TRANSITION FROM THE FREEWAY TO BRIDE AND THAT LITTLE BUMP PUT ME INTO A DEATH WOBBLE. I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE TRUCK WHICH THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND THE WHOLE TRUCK SHAKES. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO STOP IS BRING TO A DEAD STOP. WHICH I HAD TO DO ON THE FREEWAY ALMOST GETTING REAR ENDED BY A SEMI TRUCK. THIS WAS THE FINAL STRAW. IT HAPPEN TO ME 2 TIMES MORE ON THE WAY HOME. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE BEHIND ME. I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING IT. FORD HAS BEEN GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND. I AM AFRAID EVERY TIME THAT I HIT A BUMP ITS GOING TO HAPPEN. I PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS UNSAFE FOR ROAD USE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO IF I SELL IT I WILL LOSE MONEY. THIS NEEDS TO GET ADDRESSED VERY SOON BEFORE SOME ONE IS KILLED OR I AM KILLED BEHIND THE WHEEL.

BACKUP CAMERA CUTS IN AND OUT GOES TO BLUE OR BLACK SCREEN INTERMITTENTLY OR DOES NOT COME ON AT ALL. FROM PARK TO REVERSE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON AND OFF OVER THE LAST 5 MONTHS. APPEARS TO BE GETTING MORE FREQUENT AS TIME GOES ON.
Mileage: 50,000
UPON HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING IN THE FRONT END. IN ANOTHER INSTANCE I WAS ACCELERATING TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE TRUCK STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING AT ABOUT 65MPH, STEERING WAS DIFFICULT I HAD TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP ON THE SHOULDER FOR IT TO STOP. I WAS ABLE TO START DRIVING AGAIN AFTER SLOWLY ACCELERATING ALONG THE SHOULDER THEN MERGING BACK INTO TRAFFIC. I NOTICED THAT IT APPEARS WHENEVER I EVEN HIT A MINOR ROAD DEFECT I FEEL A SLIGHT VIBRATION.

ITS SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT RECAPTCHA WHEN I TRY TO RUN A RECALL REPORT
MY 2016 FORD F250 PRODUCED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. PER AN OBD TESTER THE CODE P20BA IS PRODUCED. THIS CORRESPONDS TO THE DIESEL REDUCTANT FLUID PUMP ASSEMBLY. UPON ONLINE RESEARCH THIS NORMALLY CORRESPONDS TO THE HEATER WHICH HEATS THE DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID FAILING. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH FORD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON OLDER MODELS OF THIS TRUCK, EVIDENTLY FROM 2011 THROUGH 2015. FROM OTHER'S EXPERIENCES IT APPEARS THE PROBLEM CONTINUES INTO THE 2016 MODEL YEAR HOWEVER THERE IS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE. AS THE VEHICLE MODEL OF 2016 IS SIMILAR TO THE 2011-2015 MODELS I BELIEVE COVERAGE SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO THE 2016 MODELS AS WELL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON TODAY UPON STARTING MY VEHICLE ON 1/17/2020.

HIGH WAY SPEEDS VERY BAD SHAKE. DEATH WOBBLE. NEED CASTER SET MORE ON A 2.5 - 3 DEGREE. EVERYTHING IS STOCK ON THIS TRUCK AND AS MUCH AS I PAID FOR IT I AS SURE WASN'T EXPECTING THAT TO HAPPEN. I HAD TO PULL OF THE HIGHWAY AND STOP COMPLETELY AND THEN GRADUALLY GAIN SPEED AND AVOIDING HITTING EGG YOKES DIVIDING LANES. THAT WOULD SET IT OFF RUNNING 55 TO 60. MY MECHANIC IS THE ONE WHO TOLD ME ABOUT THE CASTER ADJUSTER. I DON'T WANT TO VOID MY WARRANTY MUCH LESS HAVE TO BUY SOMETHING THAT SHOULD'VE BEEN ALREADY INSTALLED ON THIS BEAST OF A TRUCK.
THERE WAS A BLACK DUALLY FORD F250 THAT WAS TRADED IN ABOUT A MONTH AGO TO CARMAX OR CARVANA. THE REGISTERED OWNER WAS (XXXXX) FROM SANTA MARIA, CA BUT THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO TRANSPORT CARS BY (YYYYY)B/D 3/3/82 OWNER OF WHITE LIGHTENING TRANSPORT LLC. THIS TRUCK HAD WELL OVER 300K MILES AND MR (YYYYY) HAD THE MILAGE TURNED BACK AT LEAST THREE TIMES. I BELIEVE IT STATED ABOUT 37K AT TRADE IN. HE MET THE DEALER ON 166 AND HAD TO PULL OVER TO PROGRAM THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RIGHT BEFORE TRADING IT IN. I AM NOT SURE OF THE TRADE IN DATE OR VINDICATION BUT I'M POSITIVE THE MILEAGE WAS TURNED BACK 3 TIMES THAT I AM AWARE OF. HE TOOK IT FOR OIL CHANGES AND NEW TIRES SO SOMEWHERE HE HAD TO SLIP UP AND THE MILEAGE WAS LOGGED. NOT POSITIVE OF THE TRADE IN DATE BUT IT WAS RECENT PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

CODE P20BA, REDUCTANT HEATER IN DEF TANK. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BUT FORD DID NOT INCLUDE MY YEAR MODEL IN THE WARRANTY RECALL. $1050.00 TO REPAIR. I SEE ALL OVER THE INTERNET WITH PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I'M HAVING.

STRONG ELECTRICAL SMELL AFTER REMOTE STARTING 2016 F250. DROVE 2 MILES AND DRIVERS SIDE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING.
Mileage: 49,000
VEHICLE HAS A HOPPING THAT OCCURS AT SPEEDS OF 40-80 MPH, HAVE TRIED SEVERAL REMEDIES, NONE OF WHICH WORK. HOPPING SENSATION IS SO SEVERE THAT I WOULD BE WORRIED TO PUT CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE VEHICLE. MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, HAS A TSB IN AN ATTEMPT TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER NUMBER OF THE TSB IS 16-0087. MANUFACTURER CLAIMS ISSUE IS CAUSED BY FRAME FLEX. NO KNOWN FIX FOR THE ISSUE. ENGINE ALSO HAS A CONSISTENT ISSUE OF PUTTING DIESEL FUEL INTO THE ENGINE OIL, MANUFACTURER ALSO CLAIMS THIS ISSUE IS "NORMAL"

SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASE THIS TRUCK NEW I HAVE A VIBRATION FROM THE REAR OF THE TRUCK. I TOOK ITT TO FORD TWO TIMES EACH TIME THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL . THAT'S SECOND TIME THAT I TOOK IT IN THE SERVICE MANAGER ROAD IN THE TRUCK AND FELT THE VIBRATION AND SAID THAT IT WAS BAD. THEY KEPT THE TRUCK FOR 24 HOURS AND THEN CALLED ME AND TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL. THEY SAID THESE TRUCKS WERE MADE TO CARRY WEIGHT THAT'S THE REASON WHY IT VIBRATES . THIS IS ALSO A FOUR-DOOR TRUCK WHICH CARRIES PASSENGERS. THE VIBRATION IS SO BAD THAT IF THERE WAS A BABY IN THE BACKSEAT SLEEPING IT WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SLEEP. THE VIBRATIONS THOUGHTS ABOUT 60 MILES AN HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY . THEY STARTED HAPPENING FROM THE DAY I PURCHASE THE TRUCK IN DECEMBER 2016 .
Mileage: 50
HAS A HISSING SOUND UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE ,HAS BEEN GIVING US UPSET STOMACHS AND SOMETIMES HEAD ACHES,JUST PLAIN SICK FEELING, WHEN THE AC AND DEFROST ARE ON. ALSO FROM END ABS SEEMS TO ENGAGE WHEN GOING AROUND A BEND AND THEN SUPPOSEDLY THE AUTO CORRECT KICKS IN AND TRIES TO CORRECT THE TRUCK PULLING STEERING WHEEL. WAS TOLD THEY TESTED ONE TRUCK AND IT DID IT ONE TIME,THIS IS AFTER THEY PUT IN COUNTLESS HRS ON LABOR PLUS A $1000 INTO A NEW STEERING COLUMN AND DETERMINED THAT IT IS NORMAL OPERATING CONDITION. DIDN'T BUY IT FOR THIS GOD FOR SAKE NOISE . AS FOR THE HISSING,TOLD ME TO DETAIL THE TRUCK AND THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO DO ANYMORE FOR THIS. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE THE FIRST WEEK OF BUYING THIS TRUCK. OVER AND OVER TO THE DEALERSHIP,THEY KEEP PUTTING NEW PARTS ON. IF THIS IS NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS,THAN WHY DON'T THEY KNOW WHAT TO REPLACE AND KEEP PUTTING MORE TEST AND PARTS. NO ANSWER ON THE HISSING SOUND AND VERY VERY RUDE MANAGERS AT DEALERSHIP.
