On [XXX], I went to start my 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty (6.2L) and found that it would crank but not start. On [XXX], I had the truck towed to a local certified repair shop. They diagnosed that the fuel pump control module overheated and melted into the fuse box, causing extensive electrical damage and frying the main wire harness that connects to the fuse box. This is not something that should happen on a well-maintained vehicle with only 75,688 miles. I paid $2,600 for repairs out of pocket. The shop also informed me that this type of electrical failure could have easily caused a fire, especially since the truck was parked in my garage at the time of failure. This appears to be a serious electrical defect and a potential fire hazard. I’m requesting that Ford and NHTSA investigate this issue for possible recall or safety action. On Tuesday, [XXX], at approximately [XXX] PM, I was driving southbound on [XXX] near Coalinga, CA, when my truck suddenly experienced a failure. I noticed smoke in the side mirror and asked my passenger to confirm. Moments later, a "Low Fuel Pressure" message appeared on the dashboard, and smoke began coming from the hood. I immediately pulled over and attempted to pop the hood, at which point flames erupted from the engine bay. The fire quickly spread, fully engulfing the vehicle within minutes. Emergency responders, including Cal-Fire and CHP, arrived on the scene. The truck was towed by Cal-State Towing Service in Huron, CA. The Fire Captain on site provided an incident card, but the full fire report is expected to take at least a week to obtain. There were no prior indications of mechanical issues before this incident, and no recent repairs or modifications to the fuel system or engine. However, I recently became aware of an ongoing NHTSA investigation into fuel leaks and fire risks in Ford Super Duty trucks equipped with the 6.7L diesel engine (TFL Truck Report). The investigation highlights a potential issue with fractures in the secondary fuel filter housing, which could lead to fuel leaks and fire hazards. Given that my truck displayed a Low Fuel Pressure warning immediately before catching fire, I strongly suspect this failure may be related to the issue under investigation. The truck is currently in tow yard storage and is available for inspection upon request. This incident posed a serious safety risk to myself, my father and others on the roadway, and I believe it warrants further examination by NHTSA. 2 years ago both batteries needed replacement on my 2017 diesel f250. I noticed passenger positive battery cable at battery had a large amount of what I can only describe as large amount of gray cottage cheese on the passenger positive battery connector and cable. Dealer suggested a wire new battery cable which is actually a wiring harness ($2300) if they could not repair the issue. Luckily they were able to clean the cable connector and down the cable which was also affected. They also treated the cable and connector so it would not corrode further. Unfortunately the design of the cable is flawed as approximately 1 to 2 inches of bare cable before the connector is exposed without the red rubber coating to the battery gasses which causes the corrosion to travel down the cable/harness. During the last 2 years I monitored the cables for corrosion and they have held up well with no corrosion. Recently I noticed starting becoming a little sluggish plus I got an alert that said Adaptive Steering Fault Service Required. This also caused the steering wheel to turn to the left to the 10 o’clock position when going straight. Noticed on google that voltage could affect the adaptive steering component. Assuming my batteries need replaced luckily under warranty the dealer inspected the truck. Their verdict so far is that I need a new Positive Battery Cable Wire Harness at an outrageous cost of $4596.59! A price increase of $2296 in 2 years. They also want to charge $465.88 to diagnose the Adaptive Steering Fault alert. I contacted Ford Consumer on the issue because this is a known issue on other models and years but not mine. I’ve actually known others with same battery harness issues going back years. Unacceptable! The truck has approximately 75k miles.

I took my truck into the dealership Ford of Upland for recalls on [XXX] (136923 miles) outstanding field service actions [XXX], [XXX] , [XXX] , 21M05, [XXX] . I called to make an appointment and confirm if parts are needed for these recalls that they had them and nothing was on backorder. Cabral Lillian let me know they had everything the truck would be done in 1.5 days at most. About 2hours before they closed on day 2 i called to see when i could pickup. She told me they just started the [XXX] and it would be ready in one hour. When i went to pick up I was informed that was the only recall that they did. I asked why she said they did not have the other parts, i explained to her when i made the appointment she they had everything. She just said they would call me when they have the parts. I called a handful of times to check status of the parts , kept saying they dont have them. Finally i emailed Lillian [XXX] and [XXX] no reply. I went ahead and emailed all the main people in the service department [XXX] Steven Isip service director said he would look into this. All that happened was he had Lillian call me and said they had the camera [XXX] ) and i could make an appointment it would take 2 day to complete. My husband called citrus Ford to see if they could do the recalls. They set the appointment [XXX] ( 147665 miles) had it done same day. I didn't look over all the paperwork and didn't see that the other recalls were not addressed. Until [XXX] the tailgate opened on its own . That's when i looked at the paperwork from citrus ford, saw that the only recall was done camera. I did, and call Ford customer service and explained what happened, they saw my truck service records gave in a case#. [XXX] all the exterior started flashing, horn, tailgate started going crazy. Dropped the truck off [XXX] 6:30am 154,000 miles. Ford is now saying diagnostics needs to be done, due to the recall was only good up 150000 mi INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6

Regarding customer satisfaction program 21M05. My tailgate has had numerous recalls for the electrical tailgate. I have been to two different dealerships and they have not fixed the recall now my truck has major electrical issues. The tailgate opens up all the time on its own. Something to do with the wiring system that's connected to that is making all my exterior lights and horn go off constantly. The truck is at the dealership down. They're trying to diagnose the electrical issues. They now want me to be responsible for a diagnosis if Ford will not cover it.

The engine light activated on the dash randomly while driving. My truck was experiencing loss of power and for the next few days and reduced fuel mileage. I checked the engine code and learned it is a common error with 2017 Ford Super Dutys with the 6.7L diesel engine. The code is “DTC P203B”, sometimes indicated as P203B00 is an OBD diagnostic trouble code indicating a manufacturer-specific fault with the vehicle powertrain (i.e. engine and gearbox). This code identifies an error with the air/fuel mixture causing reductant level sensor circuit range/performance. I believe this error in manufacturing is a safety risk because it is common within these trucks and can leave motorists stranded or potentially disable the vehicle in the roadway causing a traffic hazard.

Good afternoon, 1.5 weeks ago, we had 4 serious issues that our Ford F250 Truck from 2017 with 55.000 miles on stalled during driving almost causing an accident because the steering system was not supporting anymore. We stopped the vehicle on the side of the road, yellow engine light came on with the fault message “All sensor” (attached). After several times cycling the ignition the Diesel engine started up with the yellow engine light on. This happened 4x. Luckily, we made it home. The next day the truck did not show any ignition neither did the engine start. I checked the battery power which was 12.8V and found a loose minus bar connection beside the positive bar beside the battery junction box. I thought I found the root cause, installed the missing nut but nothing changed. We had to organize a tow truck for 160US$ transferring the vehicle to the Ford Dealer Mall of Georgia in Buford after confirming an appointment for Monday [XXX], 2024, [XXX]. We confirmed the complaint with a Ford Service technician name Scott Tackabury, left the keys under the assumption that Ford will investigate the root cause. Since this is our only vehicle, we had to take a rental car due to business obligations. Unfortunately, the truck got not inspected until [XXX], 2024. WE had to call several times to get an update and were told that “… it is like a doctor appointment… ur in line”!!?? Again [XXX] 2024, we did not receive a call, we had to call to see what’s going on. Investigation result: -IDS test found the following DTC’s: oP064A, P027A, P0087, P008A -Diag. DTC: P027A found Pin 25 in connector C1035A melted causing poor connection for the fuel pump control module circuit (see attachments) -DTC P064A Fuel pump control module internal fault Remedy: -Replace the Battery Junction Box -Repair the wiring -Replace the fuel pump control module INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Recently I was leaving my neighborhood to take my kids to school. I used the remote start and noticed that the doors were not unlocking properly with the exception of the drivers side door. I opened the passenger door from the inside for my child to get into the truck. As we were about to depart the neighborhood for a busy main street, I noticed the door ajar light on the dash was on. I told my son to go ahead and close his door again. When he attempted to open and re-close the door we notice it was not fully latched and then the door would then not close at all as the latch was not functioning properly. I had to turn around and drive very slowly back to my house with my son holding the door closed. This was so incredibly unsafe and I'm thankful I was still in my neighborhood when it happened and not stopping for gas on the interstate or traveling long distances for work. I immediately looked on the Ford website for recalls and contacted the local Ford dealership. There are no recalls at this time. However, there are two Customer Satisfaction Recalls for the door latch and the door lock actuators. (Campaign #18N03 and 20M04). I brought my truck to this dealership for repairs as it is not safe to drive and will in no way pass the state inspection that is due on it. The maintenance shop called me around 24 hours later and stated that the door latch stopped functioning and wiring for the door locks was damaged somehow (unknown how, no damage to my vehicle has ever occurred) but they weren't tied to any recalls or safety programs. This was extremely unsettling to me as the two Satisfaction programs mention this parts specifically. So, unfortunately I am forced to pay a significant amount of money to the Ford dealership for repairs that sound A LOT like problems they are aware of. The receptionist also stated that she had heard of similar issues with these trucks.

Noticed that my floor is getting soaked for no reason. After looking online and reading about others that are experiencing the same issues I found out that is was the cabin pressure vent that was leaking. The cabin pressure vent is found between the truck bed and cab. They are plastic and since the plastic clips lose tightness over the years I did not notice a slow leak in the back. Now when pulling up all of the carpet I notice I have black mold all under the carpet where my 3 year old rides. This is a huge health concern since black mold is unhealthy and not noticeable if this is a slow leak. This seems to be an issue or many people with these trucks. This is a reoccurring issue since many people had this issue starting back in 2007. I am out of the warranty time and now I had to replace my entire carpet all while my truck has been unusable for the last few weeks.

The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-250. The contact stated that upon utilizing the snowplow mounted on the vehicle, the instrument panel lights would turn off and the vehicle would experience other electrical failures. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred consistently at times of high electrical system usage. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that an unknown software update needed to be completed on the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact that if the software update failed to resolve the issue, a large battery and a large alternator would need to be installed on the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under Ford Technical Service Bulletin Numbers: 17-0018 and 19-2373. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

Nov 21, 2021 Fire

On Tues Nov 16, 2021 evening we discovered our Ford f-250 super duty diesel 6.7L on fire. Fire department was dispatched. They extinguished the fire and they determined that it was most likely the engine block heater (It was plugged in because of 0 degree temps that evening). The GFCI breaker was tripped. Upon later research, I found the NHTSA safety recall report 18v-894 dated Dec 18, 2018 found that the vehicle's engine block heater cable is susceptible to moisture accumulation and subsequent fire because of these factors: a female connector angled upwards at 45 degree or greater angle, a low mounting position in the vehicle, and an unshielded or exposed mounting location. On 5/30/2019 we took the vehicle into our local Ford service dealer because of recall #18s45 and they disabled the block heater. On Oct 28, 2019 we responded to recall 19g01and took the vehicle again into the dealer because they reported they had the fix. At that time they replaced the cord on the existing block heater. Consequently, 2 years later, our vehicle succumbed to a catastrophic total loss fire because Ford's recall solution was to simply replace the cord, not to actually address the root cause of the problem, which was the low mounting location and susceptibility to corrosion of the terminals in cold climates. Ford is not cooperating with our requests for them to help us. They advised us that they will no longer be addressing this matter, that they are not going to get involved in helping with our immediate needs (our most immediate need being transportation to and from work), and there is no need to contact them again and they will not be contacting us. Their legal department advised us to consult our insurance company for compensation. By the way, on Aug 17, 2021 we took the vehicle in for its 30,000 mile service, which included full inspection.

THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT MASSAGE DO NOT WORK PROPERLY, THE LUMBAR AND SEAT PORTION WORK INTERMITTENTLY AND FOR A SHORTER DURATION THAN TWENTY MINUTES (2017 FORD F250 PLATINUM). THE VEHICLE WIPER BLADE RATE OF ACTION RANDOMLY INCREASES AND DECREASES ON IT'S OWN. I WAS TOLD TODAY BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN REDDING, CALIFORNIA THAT A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR THE SEAT MASSAGE PROBLEM, BUT THAT FORD WOULD NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM UNLESS I PAY $800.00 FOR THIS REPAIR. THE POSITIVE TERMINAL OF THE PASSENGER-SIDE BATTERY CABLE ASSEMBLY MELTED. NOT CORRODED'IT MELTED. THE TERMINAL WAS LIKE GREY MARSHMALLOW. ALL REQUIRED AND RECOMMENDED TRUCK SERVICE HAS BEEN PERFORMED ON TIME AND BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND NO ANOMALIES WITH THE BATTERY OR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WERE EVER NOTED BY THE DEALERSHIP. TRUCK IS LESS THAN 36 MONTHS OLD AND THE BATTERIES WERE ORIGINAL AND OEM AND LESS THAN THEIR 36 MONTH GUARANTEED LIFE. NO DAMAGE EVIDENT TO THE BATTERY. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND COULD OF POTENTIALLY STARTED A VEHICLE FIRE. EVEN MORE INTERESTING IS THIS CABLE ASSEMBLY IS ON AN EMERGENCY BACK-ORDER. THE PART IS 'HC3Z 14300 A :CABLE ASSEMBLY - BATTERY TO BATTERY' AND FORD QUOTES $2,500 - $3,000 TO FIX IT (PARTS AND LABOR) AND THEY CLAIM IT FAILED DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR WHICH IS PREPOSTEROUS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE NHTSA NEEDS TO BE AWARE OF IT. THIS COULD OF LEAD TO A DEADLY VEHICLE FIRE. AGAIN, THIS WAS NOT CORROSION OF THE TERMINAL, THIS WAS THE TERMINAL MELTING. THE TAILGATE HAD CRUNCHED AGAINST THE PROPANE BOTTLES CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE TAILGATE, THE PROPANE BOTTLES, AND THE COVER. THIS HAD HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES IN OTHER INSTANCES BUT THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE UNTIL THIS LAST EVENT WHILE TOWING MY AIRSTREAM TRAVEL TRAILER. I CONTACTED FORD DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IN AUSTIN; THEY SUBMITTED TO FORD AND FORD SAID THEY WOULD PAY PART OF THE BILL, BUT I AM ON THE HOOK TO PAY ALSO. THIS IS A FORD WIRING HARNESS ISSUE. SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED SAME ISSUE. FORD SHOULD FIX THIS 100% BEFORE SOMETHING SERIOUS ACCIDENT OCCURS FROM ITEMS FALLING OUT OF THE BACK OF THE TRUCK WHEN BED OPENS AUTOMATICALLY.

WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH ON MOUNTAIN ROAD AT CADE'S COVE TN. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF , NO INDICATION BEFORE HAND. ALL SMALL ICON SHOWED ON DASH INCLUDING BATTERY. JUST MADE IT TO THE OTHER SIDE OF ROAD PULL OFF AREA OR OTHER WISE I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN CENTER OF ROAD. NO POWER STEERING. TURNER KEY OFF AND WAITED ABOUT 1 MINUTE. TURNED KEY ON AND ENGINE STARTED UP. WAS ABLE TO RETURN TO OUR CAMPGROUND. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY / ACCIDENT AS THIS MOUNTAIN ROAD IS VERY NARROW AND MANY TURNS GOING BACK TO GATLINBURG TN. FROM CADE'S COVE.

I RECENTLY PARKED MY TT AT OUR NEW RV CAMPGROUND. WHILE BACKING IT UP THE GATE OPENED RANDOMLY IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN AND DENTED THE TOP OF MY TAILGATE. EXTREMELY UPSET I NEW IT WAS GOING TO BE A HARD CASE TO SUBMIT TO WARRANTY FOR THEM TO BELIEVE THAT IT WASN'T USER ERROR. A FEW DAYS LATER I LEFT WORK AND DROVE 20 MILES DOWN THE HIGHWAY ONLY TO GET TO WHERE I WAS GOING AND GET OUT OF MY TRUCK TO SEE THE TAILGATE DOWN WITH A FULL PROPANE TANK IN THE BACK AN A $1000 WORTH OF FISHING POLES. TODAY I TOOK MY WIFE TO LUNCH AND WHEN WE PARKED AND GOT OUT THE GATE WAS DOWN AGAIN. WE ATE WENT A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD, SHOPPED AND UNLOCKED THE DOORS USING THE FOB AND THE GATE DROPPED. THAT'S TWICE IN ONE DAY. IT WAS GETTING WORSE. SHORTLY AFTER, I GOT A LAST MINUTE CALL TO MOVE MY TT DUE TO RISING WATERS HERE IN BUCHANAN AT THE RV PARK AND WHILE I WAS GETTING READY TO LEAVE THE GATE OPENED ON ITS OWN WHILE THE DOORS WERE UNLOCKED. SO I GOT OUT MY CAMERA AND CLOSED THE GATE. WITHIN 20 SECONDS IT OPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME I VIDEO TAPED IT AND TEXTED THE VIDEO TO MY FORD WARRANTY REP. I RUSHED MY TRUCK TO COVERT FORD AND BY GODS GOOD GRACE THE TAILGATE OPENED REPEATEDLY IN FRONT OF EVERY FORD REP WORKING. I'LL LET YOU KNOW WHAT THEY FIND. MY TRUCK IS A 2017 F250 LARIAT ULTIMATE. I HAVE A VIDEO BUT IT IS 9.63MB. EMAIL ME IF YOU WANT IT.

I PURCHASED MY 2017 FORD F 250 SUPER DUTY 4X4 IN SEPTEMBER OF 2017. I FIRST NOTICED AN ISSUE WITH THE SUSPENSION WHEN HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROAD AT 60 MPH AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE TRUCK. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND REGAIN CONTROL. I BEGIN TO DO SOME RESEARCH AND LEARN OF THE DEATH WOBBLE THAT FORD IS AWARE OF, I WILL NOW TAKE MY VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THE SUSPENSION CHECKED. SECONDLY, I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUE'S WITH MY SYNC3 SYSTEM, BLUETOOTH, CLIMATE CONTROL, EASY ENTRY AND EXIT FOR THE DRIVERS SEAT AND THE APPLE CAR PLAY FEATURE. AFTER TAKING MY VEHICLE TO THE SHOP, I WAS TOLD THE SYNC3 SYSTEM, A COUPLE MODULES AND THE CHASSIS HARNESS WAS REPLACED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE'S. I HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK TO FORD THREE TIME FOR THE SYNC3 MALFUNCTION AND WAS TOLD NOT TO USE THE BLUETOOTH STREAMING WITH APPLE PRODUCTS, WHICH DOESN'T MAKE SENSE IF IT'S SUPPOSE TO WORK. I HAVE CONTACT FORD FOR A BUY BACK AND THE ANSWER OF COURSE WAS "NO" I HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP A FEW MORE TIMES FOR THE SAME REPAIR AND IT HAS ALREADY BEEN IN THE SHOP MORE FOR THE SYNC3 ISSUE THAN ANY OTHER ISSUE'S. HOPEFULLY FORD FIGURES OUT THERE ISSUE'S AND OFFER GREATER CUSTOMER SUPPORT FOR A NOT SO CHEAP VEHICLE.
