Subject: Safety Recall 24V-957 – Loss of Power Risk – Dealer Mishandling I am filing a complaint regarding Ford recall 24V-957 (Ford reference 24S78) for my vehicle. The recall states the defect can cause: “Loss of driving power, increasing the risk of a crash” “Engine stall” “Loss of motive power while driving” My vehicle has shown symptoms consistent with these safety risks. When I brought the vehicle to the dealership: 1. They claimed fuel contamination but provided a fuel sample with a Dec 3 timestamp, even though they originally claimed the issue was discovered on Nov 26, raising chain-of-custody concerns. 2. They have refused to properly address the recall or escalate the matter. 3. They threatened to report my rental car as stolen, even though I have not refused to return it and the vehicle is still under an unresolved recall safety issue. 4. Ford Customer Care refuses to intervene and instructs me to deal only with the dealership, despite this being a manufacturer safety recall. This situation has left me without clear direction, without safe transportation, and with concerns about dealership misconduct and improper handling of a safety-critical recall. I am requesting NHTSA review this recall handling and ensure Ford properly manages recall repairs, towing, rental support, and dealer oversight.
October 2024 (while out of state vacation): The transmission violently downshifted upon moderate acceleration such that truck lurched with a loud bang, went into limp safe mode in traffic, with no rear warning because brakes were not applied. I was able to shut the vehicle off and restart, and able to engage the transmission, though engagement remained harsh. No Check Engine Lights were illuminated. Upon return home, I got the truck to local dealer service center. They had the truck for a week and said they could not determine a cause or problem...no scanner codes recorded? Their tech could not duplicate. From October 2024 until June 2025, this same behavior occurred 2-4 times, all without CELs. June 2025: Truck taken to local dealership with symptom list, only now occurring more frequently. At my insistence, I asked the dealer to involve Ford Engineering, to diagnose, and to compel Ford to honor the active full warranty still in place. This unresolved issue began October 2024. The dealer had the truck for over a month, and said he could not proceed further in diagnosing unless Ford authorized warranty payment for labor and parts. No progress was made, and it was told to me I HAVE TO CONTACT FORD and push, because the dealer is an independent shop, not Ford proper. I took the truck away and drove, to allow possible worsening, or some other code to be recorded or CELs to show. October 2025: Truck violentlt downshifted without acceleration or deceleration from 35 mph to almost )mph, skidding and fishtailing, going into limp mode, and I was almost rear ended by following traffic...since brakes were not activated to cause this. Truck went immediately into limp mode, and would not now engage PARK. I turned it off, restarted, and transmission would hardly go into DRIVE. I limped home, and vowed I will not drive it again until repaired! No CELs illuminated. The truck was towed to the dealer at my cost, and has been there over 2.5 weeks as of 11/8/25. Ford denies help.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle skipped gears, decelerated unintendedly and lost motive power. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had progressively increased. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. The VIN was not available.

While driving between 65-75 mph the truck starts to vibrate in the rear. When I first bought it they said it was a heat shield but noice is getting worse and vibration is felt in floor. It has been to dealer twice now and on 4/24 will be the third time.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while his son was driving at 3 MPH, the vehicle jerked abnormally. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle should have been included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V087000 (Structure, Power Train). The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the transmission output shaft shield and heat shield needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,900.

Check engine light comes on with injector codes. Ford clears the code and the problem continues to come back. Truck uses a lot more fuel when this is active. No help from Ford on getting this resolved. Issue: Some 2020-2022 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with cylinder injection pulse offset diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P2B11, P2B13, P2B15, P2B17, P2B19, P2B1B, P2B1D, and/or P2B1F stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) after various fuel system repairs. This may be due to incorrect learned values in the PCM. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM, reprogram the transmission control module (TCM), and perform the Reset Minimum Fuel Mass Adaptions All Cylinders.

Injector offset learning limits keeps triggering a engine light. Fuel consumption goes way up. Ford doesnt fix the problem they just keep clearing the code, but it always comes back

My truck since new would not go into drive or reverse sometimes it's under warranty, I took it to the ford dealer and they were able see the problem but stated in writing that nothing needs to be done just wait for it to engage the gear when I'm ready to drive the truck. Please help me if possible. Thank you
The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-250. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission experienced erroneous skipping of gears, causing the vehicle to lurch forward. The contact stated that the failure occurred frequently while towing and shortly after towing. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who indicated that the transmission had exhibited normal operation and no failure was identified. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 6.

On 2 separate occasions (3-25-23, 3-26-23) the transmission was frozen in drive, could not bring it up to neutral ,reverse,or park. The first incident took about 10 minutes to put the truck in another gear. The second incident took about 20 minutes to engage in neutral and then another 20 minutes to engage the reverse mode. I called roadside assistance for help. But was in northern Michigan and did not have adequate cellular service to complete the request. Both times the vehicles was driven in heavy snow and slush. The second time the problem lasted almost an hour and was stuck in the woods.
Transmission constantly slips out of gear. Long hesitation going from forward gear to reverse.
Put my vehicle in drive and it went in reverse twice once it went into neutral. 10 speed transmission. Grinds gears when down shifting from 5-4 4-3. Gears also slip when going into those same gears. Vehicle sometimes jolts.
complete loss of power after take off.
EXCESSIVELY LOUD CLUNK FROM TRANSMISSION WHEN ENGAGING FORWARD AND REVERSE GEARS, LOUD CLUNK FROM TRANSMISSION WHEN SHIFTING WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. VEHICLE LERCHES FORWARD WHILE COMING TO A STOP.
Complete transmission failure.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH the transmission would downshift. The transmission warning light illuminated the instrument panel. The contact stated the installation on the vehicle fell on the draft shaft and caught on fire and melted. The fire and smoke were on the rear of the vehicle. The fire was extinguished by the contact. There was no fire report. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer which did not diagnose a failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V087000 (STRUCTURE, POWER TRAIN). The approximate failure mileage was 700.
