COMING HOME FROM A CAMPING TRIP WITH A 5TH WHEEL CAMPER & TRUCK JUST STOPPED WORKING. COME TO FIND OUT THE STC FITTING ON HIGH PRESSURE OIL PUMP SHOT APART & CRACKED REAR TIMING COVER. AFTER BEING STUCK ON THE HIGHWAY FOR OVER 8 HOURS, STRANDED AT THE CAMPGROUND FOR 4 MORE DAYS & $3000 TO GET IT FIXED, WE THEN FINDING OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE. THIS STC FITTING HAS SINCE BEEN CHANGED BY THE MANUFACTURER SO THAT IT IS ONE PIECE NOW, HOWEVER THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON IT. WE HAVE SEVERAL FORD VEHICLES AND IT IS VERY UPSETTING TO GO THROUGH ALL OF THIS WHEN A SIMPLE RECALL COULD HAVE AVOIDED IT. DE-LAMINATION OF ALUMINUM COATING IN FUEL TANK. THIS SENDS SILVER PARTICLES INTO THE FUEL FILTER CLOGGING SAID FILTER CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL OUT OR STOP COMPLETELY. FORD KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING. THE VEHICLE HAS 72,000 MILES. I WILL HAVE TO SPEND OVER $1,500 TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED. THE NEW TANK IS $1,200 AND IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. NO TELLING WHEN IT WILL COME IN. MY TRUCK NOW SITS WAITING. I HAVE DONE LOTS OF RESEARCH ON THIS AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER TOLD ME HE HAS REPLACED 200 OR MORE TANKS ALREADY. I'M BAFFLED AS TO WHY NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F350 SD DIESEL. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 70 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE FUEL INJECTOR CONTROL MODULE WAS BURNED OUT. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WOULD BE LIABLE FOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT SOMEONE WOULD BE IN CONTACT AT A LATER DATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,800.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD F-350 SUPER DUTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE FURTHER BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE BEYOND 50 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE DIESEL FUEL TANK BEING DELAMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 44,000.

FUEL TANK LINING IS PEELING OFF CAUSING FAILURE TO INJECTORS/ PUMP AND FILTERS. CAUSES POWER LOSS IN TRAFFIC WHICH IS UNSAFE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME THREE TIMES SINCE AUGUST 2010 IN INTERSTATE TRAFFIC. FORD CLAIMS BIO-DIESEL IS TO BLAME, BIO-DIESEL MAKERS BLAME FORD. PERSONALLY THIS HAS COST ME $2600 SINCE AUG 2010. (REPLACED FILTERS TWICE AND 5 FUEL INJECTORS) TRUCK IS NOT RUNNING AT THIS TIME DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM. ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR $1200 MINIMUM IF INJECTORS ARE OKAY. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT FORD IS WELL AWARE OF AND SHOULD BE SENDING NOTICES TO AFFECTED CUSTOMERS. OWNERS OF THESE TRUCKS HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING WHAT PERCENTAGE OF BIO-DIESEL OR IF ANY BIO-DIESEL IS IN THE FUEL SINCE IT IS NOT MARKED ON THE PUMPS. WHEN BEING REPAIRED, THE TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDED THAT STANDPIPES AND ORINGS BE REPLACED WITH UPGRADED PARTS. THIS WAS VERY COSTLY AND COULD HAVE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL AND CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR

I HAVE A 2005 FORD F-350 WITH APPROXIMATELY 50,000 MILES ON IT. OVER THE PAST 4 MONTHS MY TRUCK HAS BEEN NOT STARTING AFTER IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN AND OCCASIONALLY STALLING WHILE BEING DRIVEN. I HAVE HAD THE CAM SENSOR, CRANK SENSOR, & FUEL SENDING UNIT ALL REPLACED TO NO AVAIL. I BROUGHT IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO "REPRODUCE THE NOT STARTING", TOLD ME TO CHANGE ALL FILTERS TO FORD BRAND AND CHANGE THE OIL. AFTER SPENDING $350 ON JUST FILTERS THE TRUCK IS STILL BROKEN, I CAN NOT DRIVE IT. THERE IS A CAMPAIGN FOR THIS PROBLEM #05V270000, UNFORTUNATELY FORD SAYS THEY CAN NOT FIX MY VEHICLE BECAUSE MY VIN# WAS NOT INCLUDED. I HAD A FRIEND LOOK AT MY TRUCK WHO HAS A COMPUTER TO LOOK UP THE CODES, WHILE THE TRUCK IS PLUGGED IN. HE REPRODUCED THE NOT STARTING WHILE THE COMPUTER WAS PLUGGED IN AND THE CODE CAME UP FOR THE FICM WHICH IS WHAT THE RECALL FROM NHTSA IS FOR. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD BASICALLY TO BAD. THE TRUCK WILL NOT START AFTER BEING DRIVEN ON A DAILY BASIS. BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY CONCERNS WITH THE TRUCK LEAVING ME STRANDED OR EVEN WORSE STALLING WHILE I DRIVE IT AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT, I DO NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK. I AM UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE DEPENDABILITY AND SAFETY OF THIS 2005 FORD F350 6.0 DIESEL TRUCK. THE HIGH PRESSURE OIL LINES, VALVES, PUMP, COUPLER AND INJECTOR ENDS WHERE THE HIGH PRESSURE OIL CONNECT ARE FAILING IN A LARGE NUMBER OF THESE 6.0 DIESEL ENGINES. MINE HAS HAD THE VALVE AND COUPLER REPLACED IN SEPERATE EVENTS. BOTH REPAIRS COST OVER $1000.00. FORD NEEDS TO BE FORCED INTO DESIGNING A FIX FOR THESE OIL SYSTEMS AND RECALL THEM THEM. WHEN ANY COMPONENT OF THIS HIGH PRESSURE OIL SYSTEM FAIL THE ENGINE QUITS RUNNING AND THE DRIVER AND OCCUPENTS ARE SITTING DUCKS. I WONDER HOW MANY INJURIES OR DEATHS HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THESE FAILURES. NO ONE SHOULD PAY IN EXCESS OF $40.000.00 FOR A TRUCK AND HAVE TO SPEND THOUSANDS OT DOLLARS IN REPAIRS JUST AFTER 100,000 MILES AND STILL HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WHEN AND WHERE THE NEXT FAILURE WILL HAPPEN. I OWN A 2005 F350 4X4 CREW CAB POWER STROKE DIESEL TRUCK. I HAD THE TRUCK IN FOR SOME WARRANTY WORK JUST BEFORE IT REACHED OVER 100.00 MILES. I HAD TO HAVE INJECTORS REPLACED. I LATER FOUND OUT THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS DELAMINATING. SILVER PARTICLE AND RUST IS GETTING INTO THE INJECTERS AND CLOGGING FILTERS. I BEEN TOLD THAT FORD IS NOT COVERING THIS PROBLEM AT ALL. THE TRUCK NOW HAS 109,000 MILES AND I NO LONGER HAVE A WARRANTY ON THE INJECTOR. THEY NEVER TOLD ME TILL AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS UP THAT THE FUEL TANKS WHERE FAILING. NOW FROM WHAT I CAN TELL EVERYONE IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THERE FUEL TANKS. FORD HAS CLAIMED THAT IT IS THE CAUSED FROM BIO-FUELS BUT I HAVE NEVER PUT A DROP OF BIO-FUEL IN MY TRUCK BEFORE. I ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT IF YOU BUY A NEW TANK IT WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. MY TRUCK WILL NOT RUN ALL THE TIME AND DIES ON ME OFTEN. VEHICLE HAD JUST RETURNED HOME AFTER BEING DRIVEN A CONSIDERABLE DISTANCE. VEHICLE SHUT OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES WHEN FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD AND MOVED INTO CAB. INSURANCE COMPANY HIRED A FIRE ORIGIN AND CAUSE ANALYST AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT FIRE WAS CAUSED WHEN FUEL LEAKED FROM THE BANJO FITTING ON THE FUEL FILTER ONTO THE HOT SURFACE OF THE ENGINE. THE BANJO FITTING ON THE LOWER PORTION OF THE FUEL FILTER WAS COVERED WITH A HEAVY LAYER OF FUEL VARNISH. THE BOLT IN THE BANJO FITTING WAS CHECKED AND FOUND TO BE EXTREMELY LOOSE. THIS OCCURRED ON 6.0L DIESEL ENGINE. THERE LOOKS TO HAVE BEEN SIMILAR PROBLEM ON GASOLINE ENGINES WHICH HAD A RECALL DATE OF 6/7/05 AND NHTSA ID NUMBER OF 05V266000. THE FAILURE OF DIESEL FUEL INJECTORS IN THE '05 FORD F-350 SUPER DUTY TRUCKS WITH THE POWER STROKE 6.0L DIESEL ENGINE. VEHICLE HAD APPROX. 14,800 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. DID NOT LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT, I FEEL THAT IT COULD IN ANOTHER CASE. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN AND OCCURRED SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING. I WAS DRIVING INTO TOWN(ABOUT 17 MILES). ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH. MY VEHICLE LOST MOST OF IT'S POWER AND BEGAN TO JERK AND SPUTTER AS I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SHUT VEHICLE OFF, DID A BASIC CHECK OF THE VEHICLES COMPONENTS AND THEN RESTARTED . STARTED AND RAN FINE. I BEGAN TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ONLY TO LOOSE SIGNIFICANT POWER AND WAS FORCED TO RETURN TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS SERIOUSLY SLOWING THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I BEGAN TO LIMP MY TRUCK TO THE NEAREST EXIT RAMP. EXITED THE INTERSTATE, MY TRUCK DIED AND LEFT ME STRANDED, NOT ABLE TO RESTART. VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. AT THE REPAIR SHOP, THE #1 CYLINDER INJECTOR WAS DETERMINED TO HAVE FAILED AND WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW OR REBUILT PART. (THIS IS NOT SPECIFIED BY FORD.) I DID/DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE FAILED PART(S). APPROX. 3 WEEKS AFTER THIS INCIDENT, MY TRUCK EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE (AN INJECTOR ON CYLINDER #7) WITH SIMILAR RESULTS. FORD IS WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND CONSIDERS IT AN "ACCEPTABLE" DESIGN FLAW AND PUTS THE BLAME ON POOR FUEL (ALL OTHER DIESEL ENGINES WILL RUN ON FUEL STATION GRADE FUEL, WHICH IS ONLY TO BE EXPECTED.). I KNOW THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM IN THE 2003 TO THE 2006 POWERSTROKE 6.0L ENGINES. IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. IN THE CASE OF TWO INJECTORS FAILING AT ONCE, THE VEHICLE WOULD BE INOPERABLE WITH FAILED BRAKING, STEERING AND POWER LOSS. IF ONE INJECTOR FAILS, THE VEHICLE COULD HAVE ERRATIC POWER SURGES AND PARTIAL OR FULL LOSS OF POWER WITH FAILED OR REDUCED BRAKING AND STEERING. AT HIGHWAY SPEED, AND WITH NO WARNING THIS COULD SPELL DISASTER. *JB

FORD LARIAT F350 DIESEL DUALLY TRUCK 2005 HFCM DRAIN VALVE PROBLEM. *BF THE CONSUMER ALSO DISCOVERED THEE WAS NO HEATER CORD TO KEEP THE ENGINE WARM. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE ENGINE BLOCK HEATER WAS AN OPTION. UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONSUMER THERE WAS INDEED AN ENGINE HEATER ELEMENT PLUG INSTALLED IN THE VEHICLE, BUT THERE WAS NO WIRING HARNESS CONNECTED TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE IN THE POSITION INDICATED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. THE CONSUMER STATED IT WAS AN OPTION, BUT ACTUALLY STANDARD EQUIPMENT ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WENT TO ANOTHER DEALER PURCHASED THE WIRING HARNESS AND INSTALLED IT HIMSELF. *JB
