TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F350. THE VEHICLE HAS UNIROYAL LAREDO LTL, SIZE LT235/85R16 TIRES. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO VEER OFF THE ROAD, DOWN AN EMBANKMENT, AND INTO SOME TREES. THE VEHICLE CRASHED AND FLIPPED OVER ON THE DRIVER SIDE. THERE WERE TWO OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND WAS FATALLY INJURED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. AN INVESTIGATOR PROVIDED THE COMPLAINT INFORMATION ON THE CONTACT'S BEHALF. THE PURCHASE DATE AND DEALER INFORMATION WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 124,055.

I WAS DRIVING ON I30, 70 MPH WHEN THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT. I GOT STOPPED WITHOUT ANY INJURIES AND CHANGED TIRE. THERE WAS ONLY ABOUT 6 INCHES OF THE SIDEWALL LEFT ON THE BLOWN TIRE. THE TIRE FAILED BY LOOSING ITS STEEL BELT WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 65MPH. THIS TIRE HAD ABOUT 20KMILES ON IT & HAD ABOUT 1/3 OF ITS TREAD LEFT. FOLLOWING SERVICING AND INSTALLATION OF NEW EXHAUST MANIFOLD, HAD A BOLT/BRACKET COME LOOSE WHILE TOWING A HORSE TRAILER, BOLT/BRACKET IMPACTED LEFT REAR TIRE, INDUCING A BLOW OUT THROUGH THE TREAD. FAILURE TO PROPERLY INSTALL BOLT/BRACKET IS THE PRIMARY CAUSE OF THIS DAMAGE. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE FROM THIS INDUCED TIRE FAILURE ON UNDER BODY OF TRUCK IN FRONT OF AND BEHIND THE LEFT REAR TRUCK WHEEL AS WELL AS UNDERBODY DENTS TO ALUMINUIM HORSE TRAILER.
