The contact owns a 1999 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving at speeds in excess of 40 MPH, after driving over a pothole in the roadway, the vehicle started shaking and vibrating violently. The contact stated that after slowing down the failure ceased. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 50,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-350. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 TO 35 MPH, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY BRACKET WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY BRACKET WAS REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,000.

DRIVING MY 1999 FORD F350 DIESEL DOWN THE HIGHWAY, APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, HEARD A THUMP AND LOUD SCRAPING NOISE. COULD NOT PULL OVER DUE TO TRAFFIC, PULLED OVER WHEN TRAFFIC CLEARED, AROUND ANOTHER 100 FEET. I GOT OUT AND LOOKED AROUND AND UNDER TRUCK, TO DISCOVER FUEL TANK WAS DRAGGING ALONG THE HIGHWAY. REAR FUEL TANK STRAP HAD BROKEN. *TR

WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH THE CONTACT NOTICED A LOUD POP SOUND COMING FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE, SECONDS LATER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRE HAD SUDDENLY EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A NEARBY GUARD RAIL. THE CONTACT SUFFERED A CONCUSSION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED FOR THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED AND THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WAS 50000.

SIMPLY PUT IN PHYSICS TERMS THE FRONT END GOES INTO UNWANTED RESONANT VIBRATION WHERE THE TRUNK IS OUT OF CONTROL. THIS HAS BENN REPORTED TO THE DEALER AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT UNWANTED RESONANCE VIBRATION IS. THE TRUNK IS OUT OF CONTROL AND THE DRIVER HAS TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO SLOW THE TRUCK TILL THE VIBRATION GOES AWAY AT ABOUT 30MPH. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SEVERELY PULLS TO RIGHT OR LEFT AND EXTREME VIBRATION OCCURS, CAUSING LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. REPLACED STEERING GEAR BOX. *AK CONSUMER STATES ALL THE BALL JOINTS AND BUSHINGS IN FRONT END ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED. REAR BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED. *SLC
FRONT END SHIMMIES, AND STEERING SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN DRIVING OVER A BUMP OR STEERING HARD TO THE LEFT, POSSIBLY DUE TO MISSING STABLIZER BAR. VEHICLE MUST COME TO COMPLETE STOP TO KEEP CONTROL OF VEHICLE.*AK THE MANUFACTURER STEERING STABLIZER KIT WAS INSTALLED AND REMEDIED THE STEERING WHEEL SHIMMY. *YH

FRONT END WAS CAUSING TIRE TO WEAR EXCESSIVELY TO THE CORE. HAD TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP & WAS INFORMED BY MECHANIC THE PROBLES WAS DUE TO THE FIFTH WHEEL. HAD THE TIRE REPLACED & SUSPENSION REALIGNED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHIMMY. WHEN ATTEMPING TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY, DRIVER COULD NOT TURN STEERING WHEEL. WHEN OPENING THE HOOD, DRIVER SAW POWER STEERING FLUID ALL OVER THE ENGINE. ONCE THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIIP, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE POWER STEERING LINE WAS BUSTED. THIS WAS DETERMINED BEFORE THE TRUCK WAS LOOKED AT. THE TRUCK WILL BE SERVICED UNDER WARRANTY. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY TOWING A TRAILER HIT A POTHOLE AND ALL OF SUDDEN IT JERKED THE STEERING WHEEL FROM CONSUMER'S HAND. CONTACTED DEALER. 2000'S F350 SERIES HAVE A STABLIZER/ SHOCK ABSORBER PROBLEM. *AK
V10 ENGINES: IN RAINY CONDITIONS WATER WILL GET INTO AIR FILTER, CAUSING A LOSS OF POWER. FORD HAS TOLD CONSUMER THAT THERE WILL BE KIT. CONSUMER HAS BEEN WAITING FOR THE KIT SINCE MAY, BUT PARTS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR ANOTHER 6 WEEKS.*AK
CONSUMER BOUGHT VEHICLE NEW. TWO DAYS LATER, SHE NOTICED THAT TIRE TREAD WAS WARPED. EVERY 8000 MILES SHE HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES, AND FRONT END HAD TO BE REALIGNED. ALSO, STEERING WAS HARD TO STEER. *AK
WHENEVER BRAKES ARE APPLIED FRONT END BOUNCES UP AND DOWN UNCONTROLLABLY. THIS HAPPESN ON ANY TYPE OF ROAD SURFACE. DEALERSHIP IS NOT ABLE TO RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
VEHICLE WAS WANDERING, AND IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. DEALER THOUGHT IT NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. VEHICLE CONTINUED TO WANDER . DEALER SAID IT WAS STEERING. REALIZED IT WAS A PROBLEM, BUT HAD NO REMEDY. *AK

WHEN DRIVING AT 2,000 OR 2,500 RPM'S THE VEHICLE VIBRATES SO BADLY THAT FEET GOT NUMB. DEALER CONTACTED,AND CANNOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM STILL EXIST. PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WE HAVE HAD 3 1999 SUPERDUTY'S 6-SPEED DUALLYS WHEN WE BOUGHT THEM. ALL STARTED HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AT ABOUT 3,000 MILES. EVERY TIME THAT YOU WOULD BE GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND YOU TURNED, THE REAR WOULD MAKE A BUMPING AND GRINDING NOISE. YOU CAN HEAR IT ON THE OUTSIDE REAL BAD. WE TOOK THEM TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THEY ALL STARTED LEAKING REAR END OIL. THEY PUT THE PART ON THEM, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE LEAK HAD STOPPED ON ALL OF THEM, BUT THE GRINDING NOISE STILL REMAINED. WE HAD TO LET ONE OF THEM GO BACK BECAUSE IT WAS SO BAD. THE OTHERS ARE STILL DOING HORRIBLE. PLUS, WHEN YOU PUT THEM INTO GEAR, MAINLY IN REVERSE, YOU HEAR THIS GOD AWFUL POPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT WHEN YOU START GOING. THEY ALL MAKE THAT GRINDING NOISE IN THE REAR END EVEN WHEN BACKING UP AND TURNING. PLEASE HELP ME. I HAVE TAKEN THESE TRUCKS TO THE DEALERSHIP SO MANY TIMES AND YET THEY STILL ALL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THANK YOU AGAIN
THE CONSUMER HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE REAR LEAF SPRINGS WHICH RESULTS IN NOISE. THE BOLT THAT HOLDS THE LEAF SPRINGS ARE LOOSE. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED, BET NO RESPONSE. DEALER SAID IT WAS A LOCK NUT. HE REPLACED THE NUT AND WE CONTINUE TO CHECK. *AK.ET.
WHEN TRAVELING AND UPON DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL CONSUMER NOITCED A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE, CONSUMER ALSO NOTICED PROBLEMS WHEN CARRYING A LOAD. DEALER WAS CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK

WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 35 MPH, GOING INTO A SHARP RIGHT TURN, THE STEERING LOCKED UP, DRIVER WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF TRUCK AND DID NOT HAVE A CRASH. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. DEALER STATED THIS WAS DUE TO A BRACKET ON THE TRAILING ARM BREAKING. PARTS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDERED. *AK

DUE TO THE EXTREMELY WEAK SHOCKS THE VEHICLE WHILE BEING DRIVEN 50 MPH OR MORE SWAYS FROM THE LEFT LANE INTO THE RIGHT LANE WHICH ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. *AK
