The truck has multiple leaks when it rains and water is getting inside of the truck through the back window, the sunroof and other places. Water recently go into the radio after a big rain storm and now the radio touch screen is not working. It’s making a crackling sound as if it’s going to start on fire. There was recall for this on other fords but not this specific model but is having the same exact issue. Ford needs to cover this as this is safety hazard. Multiple owners of this specific model have complained and there’s been no resolve.
I received a letter in November of 2022 that my 2017 F350 had a recall on the drive shaft and would be available in the 1st quarter of 2023. After taking my truck 3 times to certified Ford repair shops for different reasons I asked about the availability of the recall part and they all treated me like it's not available and it's not a big deal. From March 2023 I started experiencing a vibration under the truck, which got worse daily. The truck pulls a gooseneck trailer and dumpster system which if the drive shaft breaks while driving will affect the safety of other motors or anyone in its path, the truck alone is 12000 lbs. I have called Foord Motor Company and spoken to several representatives and supervisors, the last person I spoke to said the part had to break before they replace it. In April I took the truck to a dealer and it has been sitting at the shop waiting for parts, no one knows when it will be ready or giving me a straight answer. The constant vibration from the drive shaft also caused the differential to be damaged. I use my truck for business and the business is down because of it.
The door ajar light will come on and remain on after starting the engine and while driving. This happens while in park and while driving. Even after opening and reclosing the doors before moving the door adjar warning light will not go away. If i get up to 55 mph it'll finally go off. The cabin lights remain on while the display light is on distracting at night and beeps while driving. The doors will not automatically lock, whe I try to lock them, the unlock even at speeds of 45mph. This has been an on going issue since we bought the truck. How am i supposed to know if the door is secure if I've checked them all before driving but the light will not go away. Everything I get to the dealership the lights are gone and they say they are unable to troubleshoot without the issue happening in the moment. Videos do not help they say. How am I going g to know the door will not fly open on the road?
Window seal has been coming off around the bottom corners of the windshield. Condensation was bad over the winter months and inside needed to be wiped off before driving causing smudging and smears. I'm worried the window seal will not hold and completely come off while driving.
Okay, been hearing a lot of noises up underneath it, got under there and looked at my heat shields, that are just flaking off everywhere. I'm scared that my truck is going to catch on fire at this point. All of the heat shields around pretty much everything are disintegrating and falling apart. I've already filled out several of these and I went and tried to turn the truck in and to no avail. They have done everything in their power to not fix nothing on my truck. Nothing. I need some help. Please give me a call [XXX] The linkage, the power door locks and the door handles leaking, are all problems that I have and every one of them they know about and I'm scared that the front end is going to fall apart because of that linkage problem.. I can't get them to do nothing for me. I'm so tired of dealing with them and I was going to buy another truck from them and now I'm on the verge of not buying another one from them cuz they won't even fix the problems on this one. I would really appreciate if somebody would reach out to me and help me. Someone please give me a call and let me know what steps I need to do to get this taken care of. Thank you very much. I firmly believe that with your help they will do the right thing. Thank you have a blessed day INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Traveling down the road at or around 62 -65 mph and you hit a bump truck goes into a violent shake that can only be stopped by slowing down below 40 mph. You have to immediately start slowing down, and it there is someone following that isn’t paying attention it going to get us rear ended on the highway. The truck has 54,000 miles on it. Ford should own the problem.
Back-UP and 360 degree cameras have failed and are malfunctioning. They have been replaced twice and safety issue still exists. The cameras are foggy and especially at night and are not very clear. Safety hazard has occurred on several occasions where a child, person or object behind the vehicle are not clearly seen. There is a safety recall for 2019 super duty trucks but not for the 2017 models. This safety issue is very common according to internet searches and several vehicles all have the same issues and concerns. God forbid that a child or person is hurt because of the low visibility of these cameras. It is not only the back-up rearview camera but all of the cameras that are part of the 360 degree view of visibility. The side cameras as well as the forward facing camera all have the same issue. Ford should recall and remedy this issue before anyone gets hurt or killed if it hasn't already happened because of this issue.
Ford trucks have a known issue of cameras fogging up with condensation. Becomes very difficult to see where you’re backing into. The condensation gets so bad you can’t see at all sometimes. These trucks are big and need the cameras to assist in and out of tight spaces or keep you from rolling over something without knowing it.
2017 FORD F-350. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO VEHICLE SHAKING WHEN HITTING A BUMP IN THE ROADWAY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED ASSISTANCE ON DISCOVERING WHAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE.
After completing the tailgate recall, the vehicle tailgate opens while vehicle is in drive. There is no indicator on the dash for the tailgate being open, and also when you put the truck in reverse with tailgate open the camera defaults to the tailgate camera which stares at the bumper and is unsafe. I was towing a trailer during the last event and the tailgate was crushed between the trailer and truck causing around $5000 in damage. Also some items fell out of the bed on the highway.
More and more frequently I am experiencing what the internet calls the death wobble. At just the right speed and angle if I hit a bump or joint in the road my truck and steering wheel begin to violently shake and does not stop until I slow down. In some cases I have to come to a complete stop. I can only imagine the horror if I were towing my toy hauler and this happens.
On this 2017 F350 Super Duty the rear tail lamps fill with water and short out the CAN BUS communication system on the vehicle due to water in the connector for the blind spot sensor in the light housing. This causes the vehicle to become unresponsive to driver commands on the CAN BUS. This also shorts our the trailer 7 pin connector and trailer lighting is disabled preventing other drivers from seeing traffic signals from affected vehicle. Ford refuses to warranty or remedy the issue. This is a safety issues, especially when traveling with a loaded trailer with horses. This is a known issue with Ford, the only resolution on the road was to drill a small hole to drain water and allow the vehicle to respond to operator commands. With a loaded trailer with horses on the side of the road this is extremely dangerous to the driver, passengers, other drivers and animals.
Tailgate continues to open on its own primarily while driving on unmaintained dirt roads. Recently this happened while out hunting and had some cargo fall out of my truck. Fortunately, another hunter saw what happened, grabbed our gear and caught up to us to return it.
The tailgate came down on its own while I was towing a fifth-wheel trailer. When I turned to come onto a road, the tailgate came in contact with the trailer. This both put the safety of myself and passengers/public at risk and also damaged the front compartment of the trailer. The vehicles keyfob was not in my pocket so I do not think that the tailgate could have been opened from it. I took the vehicle to Ford and they said that my truck does not meet all of the requirements of the 19S48 tailgate recall on 2017-2019 Superduty trucks. There was no warning light or any other visual indication that I was driving with the tailgate down. I'm concerned as I do not want this to happen again to my vehicle or others.
I had my Power tailgate randomly drop open while pulling a trailer causing roughly $2000 worth of damage to my truck and punched a football size hole in the front of my enclosed trailer (i’m assuming roughly another $2000 worth of damage), I was driving on about a 5 mile trip and didn’t hear or see anything when I went to back my trailer in the gate was down so at some point it randomly dropped while driving. To my knowledge all controls are supposed to be locked out while driving or in gear on a 2017 Ford F-350 super duty. My keys are in the center consul and I did not hit the remote or the button on the dashboard. To my knowledge Ford has known about the issue and did a minor recall on it but it is said to not be actually fixing the problem. I have filed a claim with my insurance company but I do not feel I should be responsible for a known defect in hardware or software that has not been addressed by Ford.
My 2017 F-350 Ford pickup had a safety recall (recall #19S48) for an unintended tailgate opening. In March 2020 I brought the truck to Ford of Smithown to make the necessary repairs. I had 16,664 miles on the truck. In July 2021 the tailgate has opened up several times while driving. One time when towing a 5th wheel camper and as a result there is damage to the tailgate and 5th wheel camper. The truck's current mileage is 22,685.
MY TRUCK REACHED 70 PLUS MILES AN HOUR AND IT SHAKES VIOLENTLY
EXPERIENCED 'DEATH WOBBLE' TODAY AT 70 MPH WENT AWAY AROUND 40 MPH. NEVER HAD IT BEFORE. NOT SURE IF RELATED BUT DEALER REPLACED THE WHEELS LESS THAN 300 MILES AGO. VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED APPX 18,000 MILES
Mileage: 18,000
THE TAILGATE OPENS INTERMITTENTLY EVEN WHEN LOCKED, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD. IT IS LIKE THE LATCH IT NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. ALSO, THE RADIATOR KEEPS LEAKING ON THE LEFT UPPER HOSE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE.
Mileage: 72,000
DEATH WOBBLE
Mileage: 17,000
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT, DOME LIGHT, AND TRUCK BED LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN THE DOORS ARE CLOSED AND WHILE DRIVING ON CITY ROADS. ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY THE SENOR WILL FINALLY GO OFF. WE HAVE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE PROBLEM A FEW TIMES BUT THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING IF THEY CANNOT SEE IT HAPPENING. AFTER DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE PROBLEM IS NOT VISIBLE BECAUSE WE HAVE TO TAKE THE HIGHWAY. THEY FINALLY SCHEDULED AN APPT. BUT WAITING UNTIL THE WARRANTY EXPIRED TO TELL US THEY HAD TIME FOR US TO BRING IT. IT HAS LITERALLY BEEN 3 YEARS THIS MONTH!
Mileage: 9,000
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET ABOUT 40 MPH THE TAILGATE OPENED BY ITSELF AND THE CARGO FELL OFF TO THE ROAD, THE CARGO WAS DAMAGED.*DT*JB*DT*JB
Mileage: 79,000
THE DRIVERS SIDE HEATED SEAT FUNCTION WILL SHUTOFF AFTER APPROXIMATELY 15 TO 30 SECONDS OF USE AND DISABLES THE USE OF THE HEATED OR COOLING FUNCTION UNTIL THE TRUCK IS TURNED OFF COMPLETELY AND RESTARTED. THE DEALERSHIP REVIEWED AND SAID IT WAS COMMON AND REQUIRES REWIRING OF BOTH SEATS DUE TO OHM-AGE DIFFERENCE. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $700 TO $900 WHICH SEEMS EXCESSIVE AND IF COMMON WHY WOULD IT NOT BE RECALLED?*DT*JB
Mileage: 45,000
MY TRUCK HAS HAD A "DEATH WOBBLE"SINCE IT WAS ABOUT 3 MONTHS OLD. THE FIRST TIME I THOUGHT MAYBE JUST A ROAD CONDITION. IT'S BEEN "FIXED" 3 TIMES BUT HASN'T BEEN CORRECTED YET. IT HAPPENS AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS OF 70+ MPH
Mileage: 32,000
REFR: REAR BACK-UP CAMERA. THE BACK-UP CAMERA VIEW HAS A CLOUDY/FOGGY APPEARANCE. IT IS SEVERE ENOUGH THAT IT IS USELESS. ONLINE RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THIS TO BE A WIDE-SPREAD PROBLEM. THE VARIOUS 'FIXES' ATTEMPTED HAVE HAD SPOTTY SUCCESS IN CORRECTING THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE CONTROL MODULE FOR THE CAMERA SYSTEM AT A VERY HIGH COST TO ME (I HAVE NOT DONE THE REPAIR). THE INCREASED SAFETY BENEFIT TO HAVING A BACK-UP CAMERA HAS BEEN COMPLETELY COMPROMISED. (AS A SIDE NOTE, THERE ARE SEVERAL CAMERAS ON THIS VEHICLE. ALL BUT ONE HAVE A CLOUDY/FOGGY APPEARANCE, BUT IT IS THE BACK-UP CAMERA THAT IS OF MOST CONCERN BECAUSE OF THE BLIND AREAS THAT CANNOT BE SEEN WITHOUT IT WHEN BACKING UP.)
Mileage: 27,000
RECALL ISSUED #18V894 DATED: 12/18/2018 - MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: 18S45 BLOCK HEATER DEFECTIVE. FORD DEALER (CROSSROAD FORD ) HENDERSON, NC WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF THIS RECALL? STATED THEY DID NOT GET PAID FOR IT FROM FORD.
MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 68,871 MILES. I PURCHASED IT LESS THEN ONE YEAR AGO WITH 57K MILES. I HAVE EXPERIENCED "DEATH WOBBLE" THREE TIMES WITH THE MOST RECENT BEING 11/17/19. THE MOST RECENT SENT ME ONTO THE SHOULDER AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS. EACH OF THE THREE TIMES HAS HAPPENED BETWEEN 70-78MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AFTER HITTING ROUGH ROAD OR A BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT. THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY STOCK. I HAVE NO VIDEOS OF THE INCIDENTS DUE TO MY PRIMARY CONCERN BEING CORRECTING THE PROBLEM BY IMMEDIATELY SLOWING BELOW 45MPH. I HAVE CONTACTED A REPAIR SHOP WHO STATED THEY WANTED NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, AND I CAN'T GET IT INTO A FORD DEALER FOR A WHILE.
Mileage: 63,000
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY TO WORK AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN MY TRUCK STARTED TO SHAKE SO BAD IN THE FRONT END I ALMOST TOOK OUT THE VEHICLE TO MY LEFT AND ENDED UP HALFWAY IN THE DITCH. I HAD 0 CONTROL OVER MY TRUCK
Mileage: 42,300
THE TAILGATE AT TIMES COMES UNLATCHED. I DO HAVE A CANOPY WHICH KEEPS THE TAILGATE FROM DROPPING DOWN ALL THE WAY. TRUCK ONLY HAS 10700 MILES ON IT AND IS STILL ON WARRANTY. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TWICE, THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, NOR FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I HAVE CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE 3 TIMES, AND HAVE DONE WHAT THEY TOLD ME TO DO, BUT THEY DO NOT FOLLOW THROUGH WITH WHAT THEY TELL ME THEY ARE GOING TO DO. VECHICLE IS IN MOTION, AND HAS HAPPENED WHEN PULLING MY CARGO TRAILER. DATE BELOW WAS THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED. I DO NOT DRIVE THIS VECHICLE MUCH.
Mileage: 10,500
THIS VEHICLE ON NORMAL ROADS, INTERSTATE OR BACKROADS, WILL GO INTO WHAT I WOULD CALL A DEATH WOBBLE. THIS "WOBBLE" IS VERY VIOLENT, AND IT USUALLY OCCURS AT 50MPH OR GREATER. AT THIS SPEED THE VEHICLE BECOMES BARELY GUIDEABLE TO THE POINT THAT IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE THE VEHICLE STOP THE EVENT IS TO SLOW DOWN. MY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN THAT IT WILL CONTINUE DOWN TO SPEEDS OF 35-40 BEFORE IT GOES AWAY. I STRONGLY FEEL AS THOUGH THIS EVENT, IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN AT THE WRONG TIME WILL COST A LIFE. IT DOES NOT TAKE A HUGE POT HOLE TO SET IT OFF, IT IS TYPICALLY A SMALLER IRREGULAR BUMP THAT WILL GET IT GOING. UNDER WARRANTY I HAVE HAD THE STEERING DAMPER REPLACED AS WELL AS BOTH FRONT SHOCKS AND NOTHING SO FAR HAS TOUCHED THE ISSUE.
Mileage: 31,700
TAILGATE OPENS ON ITS OWN UNEXPECTEDLY. IT SEEMS LIKE IT HAPPENS WHEN PUTTING IT IN GEAR. NEVER HAD IT HAPPEN AT MUCH SPEED. IT HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE EVERY WEEK OR TWO. SEEMS TO HAPPEN A LOT WHILE BACKING UP. IT ALSO HAPPENS JUST SITTING THERE. HAVE IT HAPPEN WITH KEY FOB JUST SITTING IN THE CONSOLE AND NOBODY TOUCHING IT.
Mileage: 25,000
FIRST HAPPENED AT 7,000 MILES HAD IT WORKED ON NOW HAPPENED AT 13,000. FRONT SHAKES VIOLENTLY AFTER HITTING EVEN A SMALL BUMP, MUST SLOW DOWN OR WOULD LOOSE CONTROL. ACCURES ANYTIME AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
Mileage: 7,000
MY 2017 FORD F 350 XLT 4X4 SB HAS 30,000 MILES. ON TUES. MORNING MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING BACK TO MESA,AZ. FROM PANGUITCH, UTAH. A COUPLE MILES INTO OUR TRIP , WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH WE HIT A BUMPY AREA OF THE ROAD AND THE TRUCK STARTING SHAKING VIOLENTLY, LIKE HAVING A BLOWOUT. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO SEE WHAT WHAT WAS HAPPENING. I COULD SEE NO DAMAGE TO ANY TIRES , SO WE KEPT DRIVING AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN LESS THAN 10 MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE.. THIS TIME I SLOWED DOWN UNTIL I REGAINED CONTROL. WE DID NOT HAVE ANY MORE ISSUES THE REST OF OUR TRIP TO MESA. WE WERE PULLING A 40 FT. FIFTH WHEEL #13,500. AT THE TIME. WE WERE JUST FINISHING UP OUR SUMMER TRIP WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 45 DAYS EARLIER JUST OUTSIDE CHEYENNE, WY., AFTER READING A LOT OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS FROM OTHER FORD OWNERS. I FELT THAT I NEEDED TO REPORT THIS ISSUE
Mileage: 30,000
EXPERIENCED 'DEATH WOBBLE' AT APPROXIMATELY 58 MPH ON HIGHWAY.
Mileage: 6,000
I'VE EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM TWICE WITH MY 2017 F350 SUPER DUTY TRUCK CALLED THE "DEATH WOBBLE." AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS HITTING AN UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE, MY TRUCK FRONT WHEELS BEGIN TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. I MUST IMMEDIATELY SLOW TO A STOP TO END THE WOBBLE. MY TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 6K MILES, SO IT ISN'T BECAUSE OF ANY WORN PARTS. I FOUND OUT VIA THE INTERNET IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD SUPER DUTY TRUCKS.
Mileage: 4,800
ON MAY 24TH, 2018 WHILE DRIVING MY TAILGATE AUTOMATICALLY CAME DOWN. I WAS TOWING A 5TH WHEEL RV TRAILER AT THE TIME AND DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE TAILGATE TOP TRIM AND THE RV FRONT GARAGE DOOR. BOTH THE TRIM AND THE FRONT GARAGE DOOR HAD TO BE REPLACED, PLUS TOUCHUP PAINT FOR THE TAILGATE EDGES.
Mileage: 10,000
MY TAILGATE OPENED UP WHILE PULLING A CAMPER WHILE IN A RIGHT TURN AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE TAILGATE AND 5TH WHEEL CAMPER WHICH I WAS TOWING
Mileage: 15,000
2017 F350 BACK WINDOW EXPLODED. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, PARKED IN A DRIVEWAY IN A SUBDIVISION. I REMOTE STARTED MY TRUCK WITHIN 5 MINUTES BEFORE I OPENED THE BACK DRIVERS CREW CAB DOOR TO PUT A BAG ON THE FLOOR. WHEN I SHUT THE DOOR, THE BACK WINDOW EXPLODED AS THE DOOR CLOSED. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS AROUND 23 DEGREES F. I BELIEVE THE SUDDEN CAB PRESSURE OF SHUTTING THE DOOR, COMBINED WITH COLDER TEMPERATURES AND A DEFECT IN THE GLASS OR GLASS INSTALLATION IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE ISSUE.
