I was driving at freeway speeds on the interstate when I hit a divot in the pavement. My truck started shaking violently and I could barely control the steering and/or hold onto the steering wheel. When I applied the brakes, the issue worsened. I was finally able to find a spot to pull off. The shaking stopped and I was able to re-enter the freeway. This issue has occurred on three separate occasions. The first incident occurred on or about March 31, 2025, as described above. The second and third incident occurred yesterday, May 11th, mirroring the conditions of March 31st.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-350. The contact stated the adaptive steering fault light was illuminated and then the adaptive steering failed to operate as designed. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate, and was ambling forward instead. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed and determined that the failure was related to recall CXH03332865/R323W4 for the adaptive steering failure; however, the vehicle was not included. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall related to the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

I was driving on an interstate at about 70MPH and I hit a bump that sent my front end into a terrible wobble. I could not regain control and literally had to slow down by braking and pulling off the road. I am lucky I was in the right lane, or I would have been in trouble as it would not stop shaking until I got down to about 20MPH. I could not steer the vehicle until it was at the lower speed limit. It was the worst feeling I have ever experienced. I have been driving for over 45 years and this is the scariest situation I have faced. This happened again a few days later, however it was at only 50 MPH and in a banking turn. I was able to get over to shoulder again. My F350 has 56,000 miles. I have good tires, and the air pressure was correct both times it happened. I have an appointment to take my vehicle to the dealer.

Front steering/suspension system Severe wobble causes driver to stop in middle of Freeway, possible accidents or death in an accident. Not confirmed by dealer at this time. Hundreds have reported here, and the same occured. Not at this time. No warnings prior to all of the failures. So far 12 failures Yes, 12 failures.

DEATH WOBBLE, front suspension and steering Danger of a rear end collision at freeway speeds, or loss of control hitting other vehicles or items on the side of the road, result possible death to passengers, other vehicle people or bystanders. NO NO NONE I am a former Mechanic and this is LIFE THREATENING.

Aug 16, 2024

My truck has only 13000 miles on it. We were going on vacation pulling our camper. I was doing about 63 MPH when we hit a bump in the interstate and the truck started VIOLENTLY shaking out of control. They cal it the death wobble. After doing some research it seams to be a very common problem that ford will not fully address. They put a bandage over a serious issue. They put me, my family and others in very serious danger. It took everything I had to keep us from going in the ditch. A vehicle with only 13000 miles on it should not experience something like this.

Aug 14, 2024

In June 2024, I experienced serious sustained steering wheel oscillation to the point of having to stop the vehicle while traveling over 70 mph to regain control before proceeding on my way. I scheduled an appointment with my dealer (Woody Anderson Ford, Huntsville, AL) after July 4th weekend and was assigned an appointment date of August 9, 2024 at 10:00am. In May 2024, after traveling about 47 mph over a semi-diagonal railroad tracks on level pavement, the steering became violent but was recoverable after reducing speed to under 20 mph. This was the second instance. In March 2024, after transitioning across a section of highway in town at about +/- 45 mph, which the highway had appeared to have been poorly repaired my steering began to oscillate but I was able to recover with no concern. This was the first instance.

May 25, 2024

My vehicle constantly experiences the death wobble meaning front end suspension experiences violent shaking making it difficult to stay the course and won't stop till vehicle comes to a lower speed but imagine I'm going 75 it takes along time to slow down and very scary

May 8, 2024

While on a ramp to merge onto a highway, slightly downhill, a small ripple in the pavement joint caused the front wheels and steering wheel to shake violently and nearly lost control of the vehicle. Was traveling at approximately 40-50mph and could not steer the truck and the out of control shaking did not stop until I was able to slow to maybe 5-10mph. I was towing a trailer and if I had not been on a wide roadway late at night, going straight with little traffic around me, it's very likely I would have had a serious accident. The truck has 40,000 miles on it and tires etc are in good condition as this is a federal government owned and maintained vehicle. I see no recalls or service bulletins for the vin, but found hundreds of complaints online of the exact situation and referred to as out of control "death wobble". This is a serious issue and people will very likely be in serious and fatal accidents if not already.

Death Wabble Twice all 6 wheels shook as though falling off. Semi truck behind hit airhorn and locked up brakes to avoid hitting me at 75mph..i had to immediately slow to 20mph to stop castrophe

Feb 12, 2024

Severe uncontrollable shaking of the front wheels. I had to slow down to about 10 miles an hour on the freeway, people has to swerve to avoid me. It has happened 4 times in the last 3,000 miles. The date below is the most recent time it happened. I'll be taking it to the Ford Dealership.

Jan 20, 2024

Steering stabilizer or dampener is not functioning. Experiencing death wobble on freeway every 2 miles when driven over 50. Have reported before and ford refused to fix it because they couldn’t repeat it. The stabilizer on this truck has been replaced three times not by ford.

Dec 29, 2023

I hit a rather large bump in the road at highway speeds and the steering wheel and whole truck started to shake and wobble extremely violently and i almost lost control. The only way to stop it was to come to a stop.

Oct 29, 2023

Super Duty death wobble at 60 mph. Slowed down to around 40 mph for it to stop. Very violent shaking of the entire truck.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while his client was driving at slow speeds in a parking area, the vehicle suddenly lost electric power steering functionality. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who determined that the upper steering column shaft bearings were missing and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 68,000.

EXCESSIVE SHAKE AND UNCONTROLABLE STEERING WHEN RIDING ON ROUGH SURFACE OR BUMPS IN THE ROAD. EFFECT WILL NOT DISSAPATE UNTIL VEHICLE IS BROUGHT TO A STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES RECENTLY.

Aug 31, 2023

Experiencing what’s known as the “death wobble.”

Aug 7, 2023

Sustained steering oscillation on two (2) occasions. July 16th and Aug 4th. Had to slow down both times for it to stop.

Aug 4, 2023 Crash

Steering suspension has been failing over and over for months. Several severe incidents while driving 70+ mph down the road. Complete loss of control of the vehicle, uncontrollable death wobbles. One incident put me in a ditch, while the others were near collisions. First incident - was no longer able to drive above 30mph without sever death wobble. After “repairs”, recreated the issue at 75 mph and I’m unable to drive safely above 35 mph. Ford has confirmed many parts needing replacement but will not take ownership in replacing them. First incident -$5,300. Second incident - nearly $2500. There were no warning lamps, messages, or any notification of failure prior to incident. The entire front end of these vehicles need to be recalled. There is a class action lawsuit for a reason. I’m unable to sell my truck, or drive it do to costly RECURRING repairs. I’m fearful for my life in my Ford.

We are trying to make it out of the mountains of Colorado and back home to Missouri. We have the most horrific shaking on our truck. I am scared to death. This "death wobble" is TERRIBLE! I want someone to know now in case we die! We have a horse trailer loaded down with 4 horses and 2 dogs. There should be a recall for this!!!! Signed [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

May 9, 2023

Driving down i70 in Colorado and hit a section where there is concrete. One of the cracks in the concrete caused the steering wheel to vibrate uncontrollably until the speed dropped below 50 mph. During the incident braking made the vibration worse and it felt as though the front of the truck was bouncing at a rapid rate. Steering in any direction was nearly impossible. I have a service scheduled to look at this in a few weeks but until then I fear driving as it was a complete loss of control. This happened a few more times on the journey home and seems to be tied to bumps in the road when traveling over 55 mph. This incident happened without warning and did not cause any warning lights to appear. This truck has less than 15k miles on it so I was surprised it would behave this way.

May 2, 2023

While driving at any speed above 30mph the front end wobbles violently whenever the truck hits potholes or big bumps in the road!

Apr 30, 2023

Was driving in middle lane eastbound I-84 with cruise control set at 65 mph. Upon a lane bump from paving construction, the truck began a violent shaking, which is consistent with a problem know as "death wobble". slowed down immediately and stopped at side of interstate. Inspected tires, and there was no flat tire. No outward signs of tire damage . Drove at 20-25 mph to next exit. Was able to drive home about 20 miles at slow speed.

Apr 22, 2023

I’ve experienced 3 nearly identical incidents: after driving over bumps in the road or uneven pavement, my F350 went into an uncontrolled wobble, violently shaking, causing total loss of steering control. In each case, the uncontrolled wobble only stopped after I slowed the vehicle to under 15 mph. Because these incidents occurred on major freeways with fast moving traffic, a significant danger was posed to me and my passengers and other drivers. After searching online resources, I read several similar instances of this happening to other F350/250 owners, aka “the death wobble.”

Apr 16, 2023

08 Apr 2023 vehicle hit a pot hole and we almost went into ditch when it began to wobble uncontrollably. We were traveling on the hwy and almost caused an accident to the vehicles behind us. Very frightening. 16 Apr 2023, hit a small pot hole vehicle began to wobble uncontrollably, took us again almost into the ditch. It occurred four more times trying to get home from airport. We scared traveling in this vehicle now because of these incidents. We are filing an official complaint on Ford.

Mar 26, 2023

Traveling at 60-65 mile per hour on interstate freeway, hit a group of small potholes with left wheels. Truck shook as you would expect at first, then began to shake increasingly more violently in the front end. The shaking increased till the front end was bouncing up and down and shaking left to right. The steering wheel shook left and right. I took my foot off the accelerator and coasted to the shoulder and stopped. My passenger's and my safety were put at risk because the truck was difficult to control and slowing down did not bring the situation under control until we got down to about 20 mph. Fortunately we were in the right lane, so we had quick access to the shoulder. I don't know what component failed, but this behaved as if the steering were repeatedly over-correcting for what it saw as a potential spin-out in alternating direction. After the incident the front tires showed wear marks slightly up the sidewalls (about 1 inch) that suggested they had skidded sideways several times. All tires were properly inflated at the time: 61 pounds front, 80 pounds rear. There were no warning lamps or alerts before or after the incident. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the dealer. No police or insurance representatives were notified since there was not an accident or injuries.

Mar 23, 2023

Experienced the Ford Death Wobble approximately July 1, 2022. After going over a small pothole at 65 mph, vehicle experienced severe wobble and pulled from far right lane to shoulder and veered toward cement wall at 65mph! Braking caused increase in wobble. Was finally able to slow vehicle to exit highway. No prior issues with wobble nor any warning. Shaking and nearly crying, I slowly drove to Big O shop who confirmed wobble and recommended Dealer address problem. Slowly drove to Ford dealer which took two days to confirm issue and inform me that parts were backordered and would call when available. (As of 3/23/23 no call.) Ford told me to not drive over 45mph, essentially making my truck useless. Slowly drove back to Big O and had them repair at my cost ~$1600, Ford reimbursed ~$250. On 3/21/23, driving 65mph over small bump in road, experienced Death Wobble again and pulled to side of highway. Slowly drove to Big O and had additional parts installed ~$330. Scared to drive my truck over 45mph!

Feb 21, 2023

I was accelerating to get on the freeway and there was a slight bump or crease in the pavement and my front end started to bounce and warble uncontrollably, fortunately I was able to pull off of the on-ramp and come to a stop with out incident. This was not the first time I noticed this, but it was definitely the worst.

Feb 20, 2023

Death Wobble, the steering wheel shook violently. I could not control the vehicle and had to stop in the middle of the road to make it quit. This has happened before. It was serviced for this problem once.

Feb 10, 2023

3 different occasions where my trucks front wheels and steering wheel shakes uncontrollably after hitting a pothole or bridge transition. Twice pulling a fifth wheel camper and once by itself. Very scary. Twice I had to come to a near stop before I could continue. Death wobble they call it. Took to Ford dealership who said the fix is a steering damper which is on national back order with no release date. It has happened once again since then for a total of 4 times. Never know when it will happen. Just depends on the bridge transition or pothole. Ford needs to correct this steering problem

Jan 25, 2023

When I hit a bump with this truck the steering shakes violently. I brought to ford and they said it is a steering dampner and it is a recalled part and they would fix it as a recall however they said they dont have the part and they dont know when the part will be available. I am now left with an undriveable truck and no one can tell me when it can be fixed.

Jan 16, 2023

My 2019 F-350 lariat power stroke 23,500 miles has experienced a shaking in the steering on the freeway multiple times previously, it seemed to happen when a bump or uneven part of the road was felt. The last time 1/11/23 it shook uncontrollably on the freeway until the truck was slowed to 20MPH. I had both hands tightly gripped on the steering wheel and could not control it- until the speed was reduced to 20 MPH. Other vehicles on the freeway had to avoid my truck as I had to lower the speed well below the minimum speed limit on the freeway which could have caused a crash. After consulting the dealer and another mechanic the term used for this condition is the death wobble. The truck is unsafe. It was brought in to the authorized Ford dealer in Wisconsin. They said there is a fix for this issue but it’s backordered and has been backordered for sometime. I asked the dealer for a date when I might see this part and was told it’s backordered with no expectation of a date for the part. The truck is not safe to drive. Now I have to pick it up from the dealer without a resolution- basically drive the unsafe truck home and park it until Ford can get me the part.

Dec 30, 2022

Vehicle front end started to violently shake when hitting small bumps while driving over 55 mph. When this happens, I have to slam on the brakes to get the vehicle back below 40 mph to stop the shaking, then can accelerate back to speed.....only to happen again when hitting a bump. The dealer states that it is worn parts on a vehicle with less than 20,000 miles on it. The vehicle has been at the dealer waiting on backordered parts for over 3 months. Ford is not taking responsibility for the issue. The vehicle is unsafe to drive in it's current condition.

Dec 19, 2022

My 2019 F350 has the proverbial “Death Wobble; which Ford knows about and has admitted to. They have stated the steering damper is the fix, which is not a recall but a CSP, and cannot be sourced for an ETA. When I was driving over approximately 50 mph and ran over the change between the road and the bridge the steering wheel began to shake violently, along with the front end of the truck. This has happened multiple times and has gotten progressively worse. Ford Motor Company and my local dealership have offered no solutions. I feel this needs to be upgraded to a recall and Ford needs to requisition the parts immediately before something detrimental happens to someone due to an accident. Also, according to multiple reports online, there have been numerous components that have prematurely worn out on the front end of the Super Duty’s significantly contributing to the horrible steering oscillation-“Death Wobble.” My most current incident was 19 December 2022.

Dec 14, 2022

Truck violently shakes when vehicle traverses over pothole while traveling over 55 mph. Commonly called the “ford death wobble”. Taken to Ford dealership twice, each time told they can’t replicate the issue.

Dec 7, 2022

While operating my 2019 F350 on 12/3/2022 at approximately 65 MPH on an interstate the steering wheel began to shake/pulse violently from left to right for approximately 40 seconds. I was unable to control the vehicle during this time. About 2 minutes later the exact same symptoms appeared again, even more violently. I had a passenger in the vehicle record the second incident. During these incidents it is next to impossible to control the vehicle. This is an ongoing issue which Ford is aware of...a quick search online and you'll see this is referred to as the "Super Duty Death Wobble". My vehicle was repaired 3 times for this same issue prior to the incident which is mentioned above. The dealer installed an aftermarket part, which was authorized by Ford at the time. However, Ford now no longer authorizes the use of this part. The correct part has been on backorder forever and many doubt that it will ever be shipped for installation into vehicles. Both Ford and the NHTSA have failed consumers by never mandating recall for this steering issue in Ford Super Duty trucks. I am now forced to try and drive a truck with serous safety issue because both the OEM and federal government have failed to ensure that safety standards were met. The dealer has informed me that they can make no further repairs for this issue and that Ford has directed them to await the replacement parts.

Nov 16, 2022

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 MPH and driving over a rough patch of roadway, the steering wheel started jerking to the left and the right. The vehicle had experienced the death wobble. The contact slowed down to 30 MPH and the vehicle started driving properly. The contact resumed driving 55 MPH and the vehicle drove normally. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who diagnosed that the sway bar needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.

Mileage: 12,000

Nov 8, 2022

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-350. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH on a busy highway and hauling an RV, the vehicle and steering wheel suddenly began to violently shake and vibrate causing the contact to nearly lose control of the vehicle. During the trip, the failure had occurred on three separate occasions after driving over changes to the pavement of the road and driving onto a bridge. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the steering dampener was faulty and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the part was on back order and the vehicle could not be repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 21,000.

Mileage: 21,000

Nov 7, 2022

The steering became totally unresponsive and unstable resulting in a very severe front end wobble that did not diminish until the speed of the vehicle was reduced. This caused for some very anxious times as I was afraid I might lose control of the vehicle. This was reported to two Ford dealerships in the area without any assistance with the problem. As I was 500 miles from home and needed to get back home. I researched this condition on the internet as found was was referred to as the Ford Death Wobble. I took it upon myself to have the steering linkage damper replaced at my on expense.

Nov 2, 2022

Upon crossing a bridge expansion joint at around 65 -70 mph, the vehicle steering began to shake violently side to side. I was able to quickly reduce my speed and the shaking subsided once I was able to slow to around 40 mph. I have not contacted the ford dealer yet, but do recall seeing mention of this specific problem before. I started searching the internet for answers where I came upon the recommendation to report this dangerous incident to your agency.

Nov 2, 2022

The problem I have had is when driving above 45 to 55 mph when you go across the bridge control joints or hit a pothole the steering wheel will begin shaking and you have to slow down to get it to stop. When this has happened I have been pulling a 45' fifth wheel trailer and it's hard to control the vehicle, so myself and passengers along with traffic around me are at risk of weather or not I can safely get slowed down to control the vehicle. It has happened without the trailer but it is much easier to control when it happens. I have had it looked at by the dealership where I purchased it and I'm currently waiting for what they say will fix it. When this occurs the there are no warning lights or sensors to let you know anything is wrong nor is there anything afterward. It has been 2 months since the dealership inspected it and was ordering repair part, but still the part isn't in and my vehicle is not fixed. Also the vehicle only has 14,000 miles on it.

Nov 1, 2022

While driving on the two lane freeway at approximately 65mph in the right lane, a lane change to the left lane was initiated as a slower moving truck was in the right lane. Following the lane change to the left lane, the front left tire hit the pavement recess accommodating the yellow reflector embedded in the pavement, which was on the inside of the fog line. Upon impact with the reflector recess the vehicle front end and steering wheel began to shake violently. The steering wheel shook side-to-side so violently that it shook the drivers hands, arms, shoulders and head back and forth so quickly and violently that the drivers vision was impaired; the driver could see but all objects were blurred due to the shaking. Fortunately the left shoulder was paved and an area to the left of the shoulder was also paved (but not maintained perhaps a construction related turn around or cross over). Steering was severely impaired. With great difficulty the vehicle was steered off of the left lane onto the shoulder and then stopped on the additional paved area to the left of the paved shoulder. The violent vehicle and steering shaking subsided ONLY following stopping the vehicle. Had this incident occurred in heavy traffic, on a two lane road or a road without shoulders the outcome may well have ended in loss of control of the vehicle. Ford acknowledges that its Super Duty 4x4 vehicle experience "Death Wobble"; a violent shaking of the front end and steering. This incident was a "Death Wobble" incident: initiated by a bump encountered by one front wheel, violent shaking of the steering and front end, loss of steering control, continued shaking until stopped. Ford has offered to repair, but there are no parts available. This vehicle defect must be considered for recall and immediate long term repair. The vehicle in this incident was a 2019 Ford F350 Super Duty with approximately 38,000 miles. Part wear is unlikely with such a low-mileage vehicle, as acknowledged by Ford.

Oct 31, 2022

I was crossing a railroad at 50-55 miles per hour and the front end started shaking violently and was barely able to control it . almost had to stop to get the shaking to stop.

Oct 26, 2022

Ford has issued a recall on the steering dampener. The ford brand part is on back order. There are several aftermarket options available however ford refuses to cover the costs of these parts. They are also refusing to cover the cost of a rental vehicle similar to what I a currently driving. Basically forcing me to drive a vehicle with a serious steering defect.

Oct 25, 2022

My 2019 F350 is having the death wobble again. First occurred in 2021. Speeds 35-50 shakes truck like it will fall apart. Have to stop vehicle to resume normal driving. Ford fixed once in august 2021. Retuned again in summer/fall 2022. Ford said they wont cover second repair to replace the know left dampener.

Oct 23, 2022

The steering stabilizer malfunction. We were traveling on the Highway with a six horse trailer when after hitting a bump the truck started the death wobble. Had to slow down to less then 45 before leveling out. It caused swerving into other lanes causing near collision. We had replaced the stabilizer less then 5 000 miles ago when we had the same issue. The dealerships don’t have the part available and we had to replace it again on the side of the road. This is a reoccurring problem with this make of truck. Everyone I know has had this issue. We have the broken part. There was no warnings. It’s ridiculous that Ford is not being held responsible for this issue. It’s dangerous and will eventually end with loss of life for someone. I reported the original incident to you.

Oct 20, 2022

Death Wobble was a consistent problem. Driving at approximately 40-60 mph and the front end and steering wheel shook violently after hitting a bump in the road. I have an extended warranty and Ford repaired it yesterday (I hope). They said it was caused by loose parts. Here is a list of their repairs: Installed BC3Z 3050 C : Joint ASY - Ball Installed AC3Z 3A116 A : Bush - Front Suspension AR Installed HC3Z 3304 A : Rod ASY - Drag link Installed 3A131 B : Ind ASY - Drag link rod Replaced loose parts Track bar ball joint Track bar bushing Upper drag link, lower drag link, right hand tire rod end. Steering dampener shock Installed RS5415 : Rancho Steering dampener Installed HC3Z 3A131 H : End - Spindle Rod Connection Alignment #629

Oct 20, 2022

Our truck has had several occurances with the "death wobble" that is associated with the following items: Track bar bushing, Damper bracket, Ball joints, Control arms, Shocks, Struts. When we are traveling at a higher rate of speed any bump that we hit can create a uncontrollable wobble that if we do not slow down immediately makes it feel like we will crash.

Oct 13, 2022

On 4 separate occasions while driving my truck under 60 mph, the truck started shaking violently. The steering froze and the complete chassis, frame and body shook and felt like it was falling apart. It only subsided when I decelerated below 30 mph.

Oct 13, 2022

While getting on the freeway my vehicle started to shake violently when I hit about 50 mph. There was no warning. The road surface was kind of rough. The shaking affected the steering wheel so much that it made controlling the vehicle very difficult. I thought a wheel was falling off or we had a blow out. Luckily there was a wide shoulder. Two semis with wide loads (trusses) were able to move to the left lane to avoid hitting me. It traumatized me and my passenger. We could have been killed and no one would have known about the violent shaking we experienced. I usually am towing a horse trailer. I don't know what might have happened if I had horses with me. This is a known problem to Ford. It's referred to as the "death wobble". They have extended the warranty for this but haven't made a recall. The service appointment for this isn't available until December or later! Ford told me I can either not drive it until then, or only drive it under 40 miles per hour, or pay someone to replace the steering dampener (which they would not reimburse). My truck is a 2019 F350 with only 9,000 on it. My husband replaced the defective part and we have it if needed for inspection. At the very least this problem should be highly publicized so if it happens drivers will be able to recognize the problem and try to slow down and hold onto the wheel. We were totally caught off-guard. Owners of the affected trucks should be encouraged to change the part on their own. Ford says there's a part shortage and can't schedule replacement for 3 months. We were able to get the part the same day at Napa. Ford refused to reimburse for it.

Oct 11, 2022

Going down a hill, started to slowdown with traffic and the steering wheel started to shake violently. Had to slowdown quickly to about 10 MPH for it to quit shaking

Oct 11, 2022

After traversing across a bridge the truck started shaking violently. I could not keep the truck under control and it started to ver off the interstate to the shoulder. Once the truck slowed down to about 30 mph the truck stopped shaking. I was towing a 39’ camper. Once the shaking started I had absolutely no control of the truck. This truck only has 35,000 miles on it and should not be experiencing steering and suspension failure. After researching this is a very common issue with these trucks.

Oct 10, 2022

Traveling with fifth wheel out of home state and the steering wheel and front end starts shaking violently. Was on the interstate when this happened. This has happened now three times and I’m concerned I may loose control and crash.

Oct 3, 2022

Traveling at 60 miles per hour I hit a bump in the freeway and the truck went into uncontrollable shake and jumped around like a pogo stick until I came to a stop. Pulled to the side of the road and checked wheels and looked at the suspension but didn't see anything unusual. Traveled normally after that. I only have 22,000 miles on this truck and have had bouncing and jumping before when traveling over bumps but it had been quite mild compared the what just happened. Luck we didn't hit or get hit!

I just purchased my 2019 F350 King Ranch and a 2023 Gator made 24.9K 35+5 trailer for my business. When driving the truck without trailer truck does well. However when I purchased and picked up trailer and got on the highway I felt vibration in the steering wheel and cab of truck between 65-75 MPH. I checked tire pressures and everything was in range. (My truck and trailer have brand new tires) I proceeded back on the highway and it continued to shake periodically this scared me! I did some research and found that it resembles the "Death Wobble" I have not reported this problem to the dealership because it states to contact you guys first. I will contact dealership next. Oh there were no indictor light that came on or are on. This truck is available and can be inspected. Thanks

On September 21, 2022 I was driving to Vail, CO. I hit a bump in the road as I was heading up the Vail pass. Immediately after, my truck started shaking violently out of control with no control of my steering. I skid across the highway and was lucky not to hit anything. When looking this up it appears it was the Ford Death Wobble.

Death wobble horrific experience (2)x on 9/15/22 after work on the interstate coming home. Almost rear ended by 18 wheeler. Travel speed 74. 6-lane highway, I had to control the vehicle best as possible in order to move over (3) lanes safely. Cars raced past blaring their horns b:c accident almost happened. Again on 9/18/22, merging on the interstate travel speed 60 with trailer attached. It was a VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE! I almost got killed not to mention another person could’ve lost their life too! This defect IS NO JOKE!! Ford should take responsibility & RECALL THESE VEHICLES!!! Do we have to die before they decide to fix a defective part(s)? I love my F350, & only source of transportation. I can’t afford to repair it at the moment. But Ford can at No charge to me. $65k vehicle, $3k parts/labor on a defect known by Ford & they’re not gonna take care of their customers?? WTF!!! I’ll sue Ford - safety is priority but not to Ford!

Extreme shaking / loss of control when hitting bump (Ford “Death Wobble”) No accident, was able to slow to a stop and regain control. Happened a few times, had to keep extremely slow to get home.

Aug 29, 2022

I have less then 40k on my 2019 f350 and I was driving home from work on August 24th on a back country road and all of a sudden my truck went into a complete shake as if I was going over rumble strips times 10... I was only going maybe 70km hr on dry/smooth road. I stopped the truck got out and looked at all my tires and nothing to be seen. Proceeded to head home and all was fine again. When this happened I had very little control of steering. This scares the absolute crap out of me as I haul horses all the time on the hwy's and if this was to happen doing higher speed hauling, I am scared of the outcome. I am a very experienced driver and hauling, driven all across Canada and the States hauling high end horses even in Europe. I am hoping a fix is in the very near future as if I was to lose my life or one of my animals life because of this... NOT GOOD for a anyone. thanks

While traveling on the highway and going over uneven pavement the truck began shaking violently and i lost control of said vehicle. once slowed below 40 mph I regained control.

Aug 22, 2022

Driving the Richardson Highway, just north of Eureka Alaska, towing a small trailer with a side by side on. Hit a bump (frost heave) on the highway. The steering wheel became uncontrollable and shaking violently side to side. So violent, it was extremely difficult to maintain control. Called for a tow truck, but that was a minimum of 5 hours away. During this time, a friend of mine in town, did some research and we concluded it was the SuperDuty Death wobble, which appears to be a common experience. This is completely unacceptable, this should be a mandatory recall and this issue fixed before someone dies.

Aug 17, 2022

Starting 3 weeks ago I experienced a very heavy and almost uncontrollable shaking in my steering and suspension after hitting a rough patch on the road. Since then it has occurred at least 7 additional times. I am now a bit hesitant to drive the truck. The truck is available for inspection and the dealer has confirmed this is a known problem often termed as the Death Wobble. The truck has not been inspected by anyone yet and there were no warnings of any kind prior to the many times it has happened. I took it to the dealer within a couple of days of the first incident and they have parts on back order but still nothing to fix my truck with after almost 5 weeks. I called the hotline in the letter that Ford sent out regarding the extended warranty for this issue and they said they would take care of it but I have not heard back from them today (I called yesterday and they said I would get a call before EOB today).

Aug 15, 2022

intermittent "death wobble" from front tires. Has been happening since about 4000 miles. First dealer said nothing was wrong, then they replaced steering stabilizer under recall, then they replaced track bar. Then they said they can't find anything wrong. Truck is still wobbling at 39000 miles. Truck is 100% stock

Jul 30, 2022

While driving down the road we got the death wobble after hitting a bump in the road. The truck violently shook and was unable to steal until the truck stopped. After that the truck was drivable again until it happens again.

Jul 29, 2022

The steering started wobbling very bad after hitting a bad section of the highway. I had to almost come to a complete stop for it to quit shaking. These occurred several more times on a 3000 mile trip. I was pulling a 40 ft 5th wheel and made it very hard to control. I have the truck at the ford dealer to check it out. There were no warnings before the first time it happened.

Jul 26, 2022

On 7/22/2022 I was driving on I80 in Salt Lake City, UT at approx 3:30 pm. The weather was clear the highway was dry. I was traveling at 55 MPH and hit a pothole. The truck began to wobble violently and required I come to complete stop on the shoulder before it stopped wobbling. I then progressed slowly to determine if it had rectified and proceeded to my destination. Since that time I have experienced continued wobble when I go over expansion joints or bumps, but not as violent as the one in SLC. It resolves fairly quickly with minor deceleration. I will be contacting a FORD Dealer about this issue to get it rectified. I have spoken to other F350 owners that have had similar experiences.

Jul 20, 2022

At 32k miles sudden development of a severe steering wheel shake after a small bump in the road. It now happens repeatedly at highway speed under normal driving conditions. I am required to slow to under 30mph to allow the shake to stop. This happens when just driving the truck as well as anytime I am pulling out 35ft 5th wheel home. The first few times it happened, I was able to keep the truck and trailer straight until I slowed enough. More recently it is harder to keep the truck going straight as the ability to steer during this event is diminished. Two ford dealers have told me it’s just how the truck is. I have another appointment just for this issue on August 1, 2022.

Jul 6, 2022

During the past two weeks while pulling a 5th wheel trailer I have experienced multiple incidents of violent front end shaking; a feeling that the front of my truck is almost floating from side-to-side and a rapid jerking of the steering wheel back and forth. The only way to regain control of the vehicle is a hard breaking to slow the truck from my normal towing speed of 65 mph to around 40 mph. When this happens in heavy traffic pulling a 12,000-pound trailer I’m afraid I will hit a vehicle on either side of me or be hit by a vehicle from behind due to the hard breaking. It happened 3 times on the same day during a recent 400-mile travel day along I-40. The events were precipitated by rough road, potholes, transitions between the roadway and a bridge, etc.

Jul 5, 2022

When driving at highway speed encountering a rough stretch of road or a crack, bridge interface or substantial crack in the road surface the truck will begin an extreme vibration and the steering wheel will shudder violently. The only way to gain control is to slow down to at least 30 or 35 miles per hour which is dangerous to do in busy traffic. This has occurred 7 times within the last 6 weeks.

Jul 3, 2022

Truck front end goes into a violent shaking to the point the truck is uncontrollable unless slowed to a near stop. I have heard this situation referred to as the “death wobble”. It happens at higher speeds ( 50+ mph ) which makes it all the more dangerous. It can happen unexpectedly at any time when vehicle goes through a bumpy spot in the road. It has happened four times in the last 500 miles.

Jul 1, 2022

During normal highway driving 50 mph and over the front wheels start to hop uncontrollably causing loss of control and steering until you slow way down or stop on the highway to get them back under control. dealer installed a new steering stabilizer over a year ago and problem has returned dealer checked on front end alignment showed all parameters in factory spec. offered to put in another stabilizer but they are not available. I purchased and installed an aftermarket stabilizer which for now seems to help. dealer offered to tweak the alignment to eliminate this problem at a cost of $600.00 to me Frustrating that a new truck could lose control at highway speeds and the Mfg. is not being held responsible or willing to correct a factory known problem at no cost to the customer

Jun 30, 2022

Several occurrences of violent sustained steering oscillation at high speeds, also known as death wobble. Front end steering components failing/worn out at 55k miles. Violent shaking of front end on interstate, little to no control of vehicle. The only way to get this frightening death wobble event to stop is to slow down to nearly a stop on the interstate which put driver and passenger at rick or being rear ended or causing another type of accident. Vehicle does not feel safe to drive, every bump or expansion joint in the road is a stress inducing concern when driving. Ford offering steering stabilizer replacement but identified that the truck needs tie rods and a new drag link as well to get this death wobble to stop. Ford should recall these components for safety reasons.

Jun 20, 2022

I was traveling down an interstate (60 mph)and hit a bump in the road. The vehicle and steering wheel started to shake violently. I had to abruptly apply my brakes to reduce my speed to 30MPH to regain control of my vehicle. All this while towing a 36 Feet long camper. This happened 3 times within a 10 mile distance.

Jun 15, 2022 Crash

We have been afflicted by the notorious Ford "death wobble" on our F-350XL multiple times. Twice, Haldeman Ford on Rt.33 claims to have "fixed" it only for it to happen yet again. The 3rd time it occurred, my field crew was on the PA Turnpike when the steering wheel began shaking so violently it caused the driver to lose control and hit a cement median. Somehow no one was hurt and no other motorists were involved but someone could've easily been hurt or killed due to this defect. We then towed it back to Haldeman Ford for yet another warranty "repair". The third time we were flat-out accused of lying and that we had caused the damage ourselves. After going back-and-forth on the phone Haldeman, they flat-out refused to honor any warranty and would not help us unless we paid for everything out of pocket so we decided to retrieve our truck and begin the process of filing complaints and working with our lawyer and insurance company to see how this can be resolved without us spending thousands of dollars that we shouldn't have to due to a poorly manufactured and defective product. I've searched the issue online and there are thousands of motorists experiencing the same issue with their Ford so there is absolutely no reason they should be accusing us and pretending like the issue doesn't exist. As you will see from the uploaded documents the first instance of the defect occurred after only ~12k miles and the 3rd instance at ~27.5k. Please help us hold Ford accountable before someone ends injured or dead.

Jun 10, 2022

The truck suddenly started to violently shake on the highway 5 times in a week. After researching I found information on the death wobble which is what I experienced.

Jun 9, 2022

Doing 55 mph on the highway hitting a small bump in the road and the whole front end started shaking and had a hard time controlling the truck. The steering wheel was actually shaking. Had to slow down to get it to drive correctly. I haul a horse trailer and this could have been fatal. Took it two different Ford dealers and got two different solutions. One wanted to replace suspension parts and the other ordered a steering damper which is on back order.Took it in May 31 and today is June 9. Took vehicle to Westfield Ford and Willowbrook Ford in Illinois. Willowbrook R/0 Number 6373200/1.

Jun 5, 2022

Multiple times after hitting a small bump at anywhere between 35-60 mph the steering wheel locks and the entire truck shakes violently. It will continue doing this until I stop the vehicle completely. Once it started doing it again as I accelerated after it had stopped. It seems to get worse. I’ve read it is a mechanical fault and causes “Ford death rattle”. It is very dangerous and I have almost lost control of the vehicle.

May 31, 2022

Steering wheel started to shake violently at high speed on two separate occasions. Ford dealer believes it to be a steering damper. Extremely unsafe as the vehicle becomes uncontrollable and veered into oncoming lane of traffic. Dealer tells me parts are hard to obtain and backordered in other instances.

May 22, 2022

While driving a 2019 Ford F-350 dually with approximately 18000 miles. When a hole or unevenness in the road is encountered, on now multiple occasions, the steering wheel will jerk violently side to side until the vehicle speed is reduced or stopped in order to stop the shaking. When the brake is applied quickly, as a natural reaction to the shaking, the shaking seems to intensify which perhaps due to being the driver can be felt in both the steering wheel and brake pedal. The vehicle is available for inspection. This vehicle weighs in excess of 7000 pound. The need to reduce speed in the presence of traffic and loss of steering control could cause a serious accident. As stated the issue has now occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle has not yet been looked at by a service center or any other entity but will be asap. Today is Sunday. The vehicle produces no lights or warnings prior to, during or following an occurrence. The prompt for writing this complaint is; My wife was in the vehicle on the most recent occurrence and now wants to get rid of the vehicle. Which in my opinion would only pass th concern along to someone else. I have owned more than one of the Super Duty Trucks and have been aware of what is termed “Death Wobble” for years. This 2019 vehicle is way more violent in its shaking causing tenderness in my left wrist and started occurring at way less mileage than in past Ford Super Duty trucks. Hopefully at some point, before more people and property are damaged, corrections will be made. Thank you for your time.

May 22, 2022

lost control of the front steering. Was going around a curve on a bridge when suddenly the vehicle started to shake which caused me to lose control of the steering wheel. I came very close to hitting the side of the bridge. it was a good thing I was in a single lane as the pickup was going from side to side. This really freaked out my wife as well as me. She does not want to ride in this very expensive truck again. I am taking in the vehicle 5/23/2022 to have it looked at. Guess at this point hopefully they can tell me what is wrong. Nothing prepared me for what was about to happen. I am very upset at ford and the dealership for not informing about this DEATH WOBBLE problem

May 12, 2022

Driving on freeway at 65 mph I hit a small bump on the overpass and my truck steering wheel started to shake uncontrollably. The wheels were as if they had not been balanced and I had very little control of my truck. I felt that I didn't have any control of my vehicle and I could hardly hang onto the steering wheel. I was able to merge off to the side and once I got to a lower speed of 25 the truck seemed to go back to normal. I took the truck into a Ford dealer and they told me it was considered the death wobble. They did some adjustment and sent me on my way. They told me there has been no recall on this issue.

May 6, 2022

The steering linkage damper fail. Yes it is available. Pulling a boat trailer on the 40 and had significant unstable steering. But was able to slow down and regain control. Yes confirmed by a dealer. No warning lights but we requested replacement at dealership last week and was told that it was fine and they would not replace unless it completely failed. Started A couple weeks previous to dropping at dealership.

May 4, 2022

The Famous Ford Death Wobble....comes and goes mainly when running speed limit on hwy and come to a bridge or hump in road...feels like your going to loose control...sometimes its so bad have to pull over..It puts myself and employees at risk plus could easily put others in danger.... Have contact ford dealer....first time took in they said tech couldnt get it to do it have another appointment because it seems to be happening more and more...just getting upset paying this much for a truck and there is so recall yet to fix...common problem its all over the internet, no lights of any kind and yes available for inspection. Truck has done it here and there since 15000 miles and only has 34000 on it now

May 4, 2022

On several occasions while driving at highway speeds (60 and above) the vehicle begins to violently shake after crossing over uneven pavement such as expansion joints or rough spots, ( Death Wabble) The only way to stop the shaking is to slow down to about 20 mph. Doing this in the middle of freeway traffic is extremely dangerous and quite alarming. After the first couple of times the dealer replaced the steering dampening system 6months ago,, it solved the problem for a time but it has now begun again. The vehicle has only 33,000 miles on it, unfortunately this is the 2nd ford f-350 I have had this problem with the first one was a 2012, the dealer had rebuilt the front end twice to try and solve the problem both time it worked for awhile and then returned. When I traded it in for the new 2019 i was assured ford no longer had the problem. This issue seems to be very common with these trucks and Ford should address the issue before there are serious accidents as a result of this issue.

Mar 13, 2022

My truck has a front suspension problem, known as "death wobble." I tried to search death wobble on the Ford website, but did not find any results. I was traveling on an interstate highway yesterday, when I encountered some bumps in the road surface. Upon hitting the bumps my truck started to violently shake (oscillate) in the front end and would not stop till the truck went from about 60 mph to 40 mph. Meanwhile I was in the middle of traffic traveling on the interstate with cars/trucks behind and on either side of my truck. Luckily there was no collision. This happened three times yesterday, while I was driving my family. My family was visible shaken by these occurrences. Yesterday's occurrences were the 7th or 8th time this has happened. The first started around 5000 or so miles. I have been driving this vehicle with this problem. I have not yet scheduled an appointment with a Ford dealer but, will do so in the coming weeks. I have another complaint. I have a transient sensor problem, which occurs once every few weeks, for no apparent reason. I will be driving the truck and all of a sudden, I will get a series of messages including these: service advance track check brakes hill decent not available pre-collision not available The brakes continue to operate, but the other features are not available, as far as I can tell. While I did like this truck when I first receive it, now I feel that either Ford needs to fix this truck or give me my money back.

Feb 21, 2022

While driving straight down the freeway at about 60mph I drove across an expansion joint and the front of the vehicle began to vibrate violently. I had to slow down quickly to 40mph before it returned to a controlled vehicle. This also happened one time previously while passing over rough pavement in a construction zone at a speed closer to 45mph and it dissipated more quickly, because of lower speed in my opinion. This vehicle has almost always had an erratic reaction to rough pavement at highway speeds, but prior to these two occurrences it has been manageable. My safety and others was put at risk because I had a vehicle that I could not control and I had to brake suddenly in high speed traffic to regain control. The vehicle traveling beside me on the freeway was very anxious to get me to pull over and was making all kinds of gestures trying to show what he had seen. There were no warning lights, symbols or alarms. The vehicle is still under warranty and is currently at the dealership for service. Based on my research it is doubtful they will be able to make a long term fix. this is something that should definitely receive a recall not and federal oversite to insure the safety of hundreds of thousands of trucks.

Feb 15, 2022

Massive vibration/wobbling front end occurred on freeway 15 San Diego Dec., 28, 2021. Had to pull over and stop in the shoulder. Massive vibration/wobbling continued. Took into Ford Penske with mileage 39,304 on Jan 13, 2022: Ford Penske replaced steering damper. Unsure if the original factory installed damper is still available for inspection upon request at Penske? My wife and my safety and others on the 15 freeway were for sure put at risk. Then on Jan 28, 2022 the wobble and vibration returned while traveling from San Diego to Utah. I had to take the truck to Provo Larry Miller Ford and they replaced the tires which only had 35,000 on them and also replaced again the steering damper! This problem has been re-confirmed by the Ford Provo dealership. The check engine light also came on - Provo Ford diagnosed as a steering/suspension/vibration problem condition. I am now taking (Feb., 2022) to Off-Road Warehouse to have a much higher quality steering damper installed and 4 high quality shocks. Conclusion: the vibration/wobbling has caused extreme risk to my wife and me; this will be the 4th damper installed; caused pre-mature wear on the tires (they only lasted 35,000 miles - the tires cost $2,200). The new tires installed by Provo Ford cost - $1,279.80.

Whenever I hit a bump the front end starts wobbling. The steering wheel shakes. This has been known as the "death wobble". You have to come to a complete stop for it to quit. This can cause accidents as it happens at random times. It has happened on four different occasions thus far.

Feb 1, 2022

For the 2nd time in 14 months my truck experienced violent steering oscillation after driving over an expansion joint on a highway bridge at 65 MPH. My truck was repaired after the 1st occurrence by replacing the steering dampener, I'm currently waiting to get my truck into the dealership to address this issue again. It gives me pause to think of what would happen if i was towing my 5th wheel camper & this issue presented its self.

Jan 23, 2022

Death wobble at approximately 70 mph while cornering to the left and hitting a bump in the road. Front end started to violently shake and shaking was transferred to the steering wheel. I was able to pull to a stop on the side of the road. Got out and checked components on the front end to make sure no loose lug nuts or obvious tire problems. This has happened multiple times and the truck has less than 55,000 miles. All maintenance has been performed by the local Ford dealer at the recommended intervals. The truck is not modified in any way.

Jan 17, 2022

As I was driving this evening on a straight highway at highway speed, my front wheels started to violently shake uncontrollably. I had to apply the brakes to reduce my speed so that I could regain control of the truck. This is not the first time that this has happened but it was the most violent and uncontrollable event. From what information that I can find, this appears to be called the death wobble.

Jan 11, 2022

While driving on freeway between 55 mph and 65 mph the truck shakes violently when driving over an uneven bridge transition or uneven bumps is highway. Impossible to control and had to pull over to stop. This has happened 3 times within a months time

Dec 28, 2021

WHILE TRAVELING DOWN AN 8% GRADE HILL, I APPLIED MY BRAKES TO SLOW THE VEHICLE AND THE STERRING SUDDENLY SHOOK VIOLENTLY. I COULD NOT CONTROL THE VEHICLE. I REGAINED CONTROL AFTER THE VEHCILE SLOWED GOING BACK UP A HILL. THIS WAS TERRIFYING FOR MY FAMILY. I HAD TO DRIVE ANOTHER FIVE HOURS FEARING THIS WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER WHEN I RETURNED HOME AND THEY INSTALLED A STEERING DAMPER SAID TO BE ABLE TO PREVENT THIS IN THE FUTURE.

Dec 12, 2021

Hit a pot hole, at 65 mph with the front wheel. The hole truck started shacking violently, and I about loss control. I stood on the brakes, and vibrated into the emergency lane. The whole truck stopped shacking below 45 mph. And was fine coming back up to speed, until I hit another pot hole. Please watch YouTube ford death wobble, ford states there is no problem.

Dec 9, 2021

Since shortly after purchasing my brand new 2019 F350, I have periodically experienced "death wobble" when traveling over 55mph and hitting bumps. The steering wheel shakes uncontrollably and I must quickly slow down to less than 30mph to regain control of the truck. Ford has replaced the steering stabilizer twice. The second stabilizer was supposed to be the "fix" for this issue. Today it happened again while driving on a rural road at about 55mph. I almost lost control of the truck before I could get it slowed down. I drove it to the dealer and they replaced the steering stabilizer again, but this time I had to cover the cost.

Dec 7, 2021

While driving at highway speeds hit slight transition in road and vehicle steering shakes uncontrollably to the point of extreme danger. Slow down to a stop thinking blown out tire or something snapped in front end. No signs of physical damage. try to limp home find condition is no longer present. It has happened two more times since then with passengers in vehicle on busy roads. Extreme danger situation Ford Can not get it in for diagnosis for 2 weeks.

Nov 19, 2021

The vehicle is experiencing a very violent shaking/wobble after hitting a bridge seam or railroad tracks at higher speeds. The violent shaking does not stop until speed is reduced significantly (<40-50 mph). This could be very dangerous in certain situations such as heavy traffic, in a curve, or while towing. The shaking is so violent it certainly puts significant stress on steering components and could eventually cause catastrophic failure and complete loss of steering and control at interstate speed. A brief internet search indicates there are numerous others with this same situation. This truck design has evidently had this issue for many model years. This type of issue should not be occurring to vehicles that are relatively new.

Nov 12, 2021

OVER THE PAST TWO WEEKS OF TRAVEL - APPROXIMATELY 3000 MILES - THIS F350 EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT SHIMMY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (CRUISING BETWEEN 55 - 68MPH - MAX) SEVEN SEPARATE TIMES, WITH THE LAST 4 EVENTS OCCURRING 11/9/2021 IN IMMEDIATE SUCCESSION (WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF EACH OTHER) WHEN LEAVING KINGMAN AZ - HEADING WEST ON I40. EACH TIME THIS VIOLENT SHIMMY SEEMED TO BE PRECIPITATED BY RUNNING OVER ROUGH SECTIONS OF ROAD OR BRIDGE TRANSITIONS, THIS VIOLENT SHIMMY COULD ONLY BE CLEARED BY SLOWING TO APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. THE PICKUP TRUCK WAS FULLY LOADED, CLOSE TO THE GVWR. INTERNET RESEARCH OF THIS PROBLEM HAS LED ME TO BELIEVE IT IS A KNOWN PHENOMENA AMONG FORD F350 & F250 OWNERS CALLED "DEATH WOBBLE". VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, THINK ABOUT IT, HAVING TO SLOW TO 25 MPH FROM FREEWAY SPEEDS ATTEMPTING TO GET INTO EITHER THE SLOW LANE OR SHOULDER - EVENTUALLY AN ACCIDENT WILL HAPPEN IF THIS "DEATH WOBBLE" IS NOT RESOLVED. I'VE REPORTED THIS SITUATION TO MY JIM BURKE FORD LOCAL DEALER HERE IN BAKERSFIELD CA (WHERE I PURCHASED THE PICKUP) AND HAVE SCHEDULE INVESTIGATION AND HOPEFULLY REPAIR ON 6 DECEMBER.

Nov 4, 2021

While driving 55 mph on a paved highway, I encountered a slight “bump” in a curve. When I traveled over the bump, the steering wheel was yanked out of my hands with an excessive shaking as well as the bed of my truck was fishtailing in the curve that caused me to cross over into oncoming traffic. I took my truck to the dealership where I purchased it and according to the invoice, several components were replaced. It did well for about 3 months and is still an issue today, it seems to get worse as we go.

Oct 23, 2021

My truck started violently shaking after going over a groove in the road. Has happened about 3 times. Ford dealership said that they can't get me in until November 10th.

Oct 16, 2021

I hit a small groove in the road and the truck went into death wobble. I was going about 45 to 50 miles an hour and had to completely stop for the death wobble to quit.

Oct 12, 2021

Severe and violent steering wheel oscillation after hitting bumps at highway speeds without warning. Multiple incidents beginning at 20,000 miles, steadily worsening with time. Requires emergency out of control stopping on interstate in order to regain control of vehicle--putting passengers and other vehicle operators in severe danger. Ford replaced steering stabilizer but problem continues without improvement. Dealer confirms issue.

Oct 12, 2021

While driving the speed limit of 60 mph. I drove over a bump in the road. The steering wheel stared shaking back and forth violently. The truck was barely controllable and could have ended in a deadly crash. The truck shook until I slowed to 15 mph. After getting home and researching the problem I found this is known as the death wobble. I see why it is called that. This problem is going to take people’s lives.

Sep 13, 2021

Towing a trailer at approximately 60mph, hit a bump and the vehicle / steering wheel started shaking. Slowed quickly, pulled over and stopped. Checked loading of vehicle, trailer, tire condition, found nothing amiss. Believe I experienced my first “death wobble”. Have not had a repeat experience.

Sep 1, 2021

While towing my 5th wheel travel trailer east bound on I-40 from Albuquerque, NM on 8/23/21, the truck and trailer started shaking violently after hitting some small wash board bumps. Only by quickly slowing down from 65 mph to under 40 mph was the situation corrected. After the shaking stopped I sped back up to 65 mph and everything seemed to be normal. A few more miles down I-40 the shaking returned, again after hitting a short section of wash board. This time was more violent than the first, so I pulled over and did a walk around looking for any obvious defects on the tires, wheels and observable suspension components. I did not find any problems, so I continued with my trip to Lubbock, TX. the phenomenon did not occur again. I have not had the truck inspected by a mechanic yet. I have researched this problem and found out that it seems to be a fairly common occurrence on Ford Super Duty trucks with four wheel drive. Why hasn't there been a recall issued for this problem?

Aug 16, 2021

Travelling at speed (+/-65mph) on I-25in Colorado, I hit a pothole. Immediately, my steering wheel started shaking uncontrollably. This truck was purchased new in 2019, and currently has less than 6,000 miles on it.

Aug 7, 2021

Traveling 60 mph experienced extreme vibration after hitting bump in the road. Had to slow to 10-20 mph for the extreme vibration to cease. Very unsafe condition. Steering wheel vibrated severely. Truck has 23,400 miles. This condition is known as the Death Wobble!

Hit bump had steering death wobble. Would not stop violently shaking until I slowed way down.

The 2019 Ford F-350 goes into a violent shaking when going over a small or large bump on a highway or interstate. My truck has 40,000 miles on it and I have experienced the violent shaking of the truck several times now. Each time the truck begins shaking, it has to be stopped to relieve the shaking. Yesterday it occurred 3 times in a row on I-80 and we were shaking so bad that the truck veered off into the median nearly causing an accident. An accident nearly occurred earlier as the shaking began as we were passing a tractor trailer on the interstate. I have 3 drivers in my household and I cannot allow my wife or daughter to operate the truck due to the fear of shaking.

Truck hit bump in road and began shaking violently to the point of almost losing control at 45mph. Very hard to hold onto steering wheel to bring truck to a stop.

Jun 29, 2021

Uncontrollable Steering Oscillation, ie, "Death Wobble". Traveling approximately 60 mph and went over uneven pavement in a construction zone. Front end and steering wheel began shaking violently. Had to slow to about 20 mph to get it to stop shaking. Reoccurred a few minutes later on in the same construction zone.

The truck went into a death wobble traveling down hill at 60mph while braking, stearing column shook violently, no control of vehicle at that point, we were towing an enclosed car trailer, no lights came on, no warning whatsoever, has not been inspected yet, due to it just happening on our trip

Jun 10, 2021

We hit a small pothole in the highway going 70mph and lost all steering input to the vehicle. Steering wheel started jerking violently side to side. I could hardly hold onto it. I slowly applied breaks and was able to move onto shoulder, vehicle still was erratic until almost a dead stop. I thought I rolled a tire on the rim it was so rough feeling. Got out and did a visual inspection and tires were all good, checked under vehicle and no debris picked up or anything else that would cause this. Slowly got back onto highway and it was fine after that. I had one other experience like this but I thought it wasn’t nearly this bad. Construction bumps in road about 45mph and had moderate wheel jerk side to side but it corrected once past the rough pavement. This latest time it didn’t stop until i stopped vehicle. Best regards, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Severe wobble from 67 miles per hour and up. Not consist comes and goes ever few minutes. Tremendous vibrations while driving.

Jun 10, 2021

At speeds over 65, developes a shimmy or wobble. Violently wobbles when it goes over bridge connection etc while on interstates. Had it checked by my mechanic, alignment good, balance is good. Gave me a heads up to the ford f-350 death wobble. not yet a recall, but everyone including the local ford dealership is aware of this

Multiple instances of the Death Wobble / Sustained Steering Wheel Oscillations while travelling in the Memphis, TN area. Have contacted the local Ford Service department and they plan to replace the Steering Link Damper. Suspect that this is only a short term band aide. Wife has history of Costochondritis, truck shook so violently it reinjured her during the last DW/SSWO event. Vehicle has less than 28,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2019 Ford F-350. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the vehicle started to violently vibrate, before coming to a stop. The vibration stopped after the vehicle was brought to a complete stop. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 17,600.

Experienced several death wobbles hauling oilfield equipment down to Texas, luckily there was no traffic at the time as the truck bucked all over the road, happened two more times on trip on rough roadways had to slow to59 to avoid. Very lucky no accident.

May 22, 2021

Driving 55 mph and hit a dip in the road when the front end of the truck and steering wheel start shaking violently. Immediately slowed down by braking and truck returned to normal. Took truck to mechanic and was informed that steering damper and tie rods are worn. He was able to confirm truck shake. Truck has 27,513 miles on it. No safety risk to me or others since I was able to get vehicle under control. No symptoms prior to the front end and steering wheel shaking.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESS WAY (M-I-75) AT A SPEED OF 65 MILES PER HOUR I HIT A BUMP AND MY TRUCK SHOOK FIERCELY AND UNCONTROLLABLY FORCING ME TO DRIVE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD UNTIL I COULD GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. UPON STARTING TO DRIVE AGAIN THIS INCIDENT WAS REPEATED LEAVING ME TO ROLL DOWN THE SIDE OF THE EXPRESSWAY UNTIL I COULD REACH AN EXIT TO GET OFF INTO A SAFE AREA. MY VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY EXPERIENCES WHAT IS KNOW AS THE 'DEATH WOBBLE' AFTER HITTING VARIOUS ROAD CONDITIONS; ROUGH PAVEMENT PATCH, HOLES, IRREGULAR ROAD HEIGHTS ON FREEWAYS, HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREETS. OCCURS AS LOW AS 40MPH IN THE CITY AND 65+ ON FREEWAYS. FORD DEALER INSTALLED A 'NEW IMPROVED STEERING STABILIZER' BUT THE PROBLEM RETURNED IN LESS THEN A MONTH. I REPLACED THEIR STEERING STABILIZER WITH AN AFTERMARKET BRAND (MOOG). IT HAS HELPED PREVENT THE SERIOUS WOBBLE BUT WHEN TRAVELING OVER THE ROAD SURFACES IDENTIFIED ABOVE, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS TO WOBBLE BACK AND FORTH SLIGHTLY (CONTROLLABLE) THEN STOPS AFTER RETURNING TO SMOOTH ROAD. STILL, MY HEART RACES, ANTICIPATING THE DEATH WOBBLE EVERY TIME. THE PROBLEM FIRST APPEARED AT ABOUT 15000 MILES AND NOW THERE IS 35000 MILES ON IT. I WILL NOT LET ANYBODY ELSE DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THIS DANGER. IF I COULD, I WOULD TRADE IT IN ON A DIFFERENT BRAND.

DEATH WOBBLE. I'M CONFIDENT YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THE TERM AS THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM FORD OWNERS. SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE AND THAT IS NOT AN EMBELLISHMENT. FORD NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I'M TRIED AND TRUE FORD, BUT THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND WILL NOT LET ANYONE OTHER THAN MYSELF DO SO. PLEASE TAKE THIS FOR ACTION, THERE ARE LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS EXACT ISSUE. FORD KNOWS ABOUT IT, BUT HAS FAILED TO DELIVER A SOLUTION. VEHICLE GOES INTO A VIOLENT SHAKE WHEN HITTING A BUMP OR DIP ON THE ROAD. MOST OFTEN OCCURS WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 60 MPH. THE SHAKING WILL PERSIST UNTIL THE VEHICLE'S SPEED IS REDUCED TO ABOUT 30 MPH. AT LEAST 50% OF THE VEHICLE'S CONTROLLABILITY IS LOST DURING THIS EVENT. THIS IS A CONTINUES PROBLEM THAT OCCURS WHEN THE ABOVE DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE MET.

ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OVER THE 5 MONTHS I HAVE OWNED THE TRUCK, THE FRONT WHEELS OF MY 2019 F350 HAVE SHUDDERED VIOLENTLY AFTER CROSSING MINOR BUMPS AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE SHUDDERING WAS VIOLENT ENOUGH TO POSE A SERIOUS THREAT OF AN ACCIDENT. IMMEDIATE, RAPID DECELERATION WAS THE ONLY WAY TO REGAIN CONTROL. MY INSTINCT (JUST MY OBSERVATION) IS THAT THE BUMPS CAUSED A SHUDDER IN THE FRONT WHEELS AND IF THE TRACTION CONTROL WAS ENGAGED THAT THE SYSTEM ENGAGING MADE THE SHUDDERING WORSE. THE LAST TIME AND THE THIRD TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS YESTERDAY 2/27/21 MY WIFE AND 2 SMALL CHILDREN WERE IN THE TRUCK WITH ME. DE-ACCELERATION, DANGEROUS ON A BUSY INTERSTATE ON ITS OWN, DID NOT STOP THE SHUDDERING THIS TIME, BUT DISENGAGING THE TRACTION CONTROL SEEMED TO STOP IT IMMEDIATELY. I OFTEN TOW A 30' FOOT TRAVEL TRAILER ON FAMILY TRIPS AND FORTUNATELY THE SHUDDERING HAS NOT YET HAPPENED WHILE TOWING THE CAMPER, BUT I FEAR WHAT COULD HAPPEN UNDER SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS IN FORD FORUMS AND HAVE COME TO KNOW THIS DEFECT IS COMMON WITH FORD SUPER DUTY TRUCKS AND IS KNOW AS THE F250/350 'DEATH WOBBLE' AND I CAN TELL YOU THAT IS A VERY ACCURATE DESCRIPTION. I ALSO SAW THAT TAKING THESE TRUCKS IN FOR SERVICE HAS NOT HELPED OTHER OWNERS AND THAT FORD HAS FAILED TO ADDRESS WHAT IS OBVIOUSLY A COMMON, DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW ACROSS MULTIPLE YEARS OF THE SUPER DUTY LINE OF TRUCKS. I URGE THE NHTSA TO PRESSURE FORD TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE IMMEDIATELY.

MY VEHICLE HAD APPROX. 22000 MILES ON IT WHEN IT STARTED TO DEVELOP WHAT IS BEING CALLED THE DEATH WOBBLE. THIS IS WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES TERRIBLY WHEN YOU ENCOUNTER ANY BUMPS ON THE ROAD. IT CAN SHAKE SO VIOLENTLY THAT IT IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. AT APPROX. 27600 MILES I TOOK IT TO POWER FORD IN ALBUQUERQUE, NM FOR REPAIR. THEY WERE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND DETERMINED THAT THE STEERING DAMPENER HAD FAILED. THERE IS LOTS OF INFORMATION ON THIS ISSUE ON THE WEB. THIS DESIGN ISSUE EXISTS IN ALL 2006 TO 2019 FORD F-250S AND F-350S. THIS ISSUE MAKES THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND DECREASES THE MEAN TIME BETWEEN FAILURE OF STEERING COMPONENTS CAUSING OWNERS TO INCUR THE EXPENSE OF REPLACING FAILED COMPONENTS AT UNREASONABLY SHORT INTERVALS OR INSTALLING AFTER-MARKET SOLUTIONS. WHILE FORD MAY SEE IT AS CAUSED BY NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, THE SHORT COMPONENT LIFESPAN AND VEHICLE CONTROL ISSUE INDICATES A SERIOUS DESIGN DEFECT WHICH THE NHTSA SHOULD ADDRESS.

I WAS DRIVING MY NEWLY PURCHASED 2019 FOR F350 SUPER DUTY WHICH HAS 22,000 MILES, WHEN I HIT A SMALL BUMP ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 55 MPH AND GOING STRAIGHT WITH NOT THE SLIGHTEST OF TURN AND WITHIN THE FLOW OF HEAVY TRAFFIC, WHEN MY FRONT TIRES AND STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO VIBRATE UNCONTROLLABLY AS I CAME OVER THE SMALL BUMP. I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE HEAVY TRUCK AND WAS FORCED TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO KEEP FROM SWERVING INTO THE MEDIAN OR INTO ANOTHER CAR BESIDE ME. THE CONCRETE TRUCK BEHIND ME HAD TO SLAM ON IT'S BRAKES AS WELL TO PREVENT FROM HITTING ME. I HAVE DRIVEN HEAVY TRUCKS FOR 25 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER FELT SO OUT OF CONTROL. HAD MY SON OR DAUGHTER BEEN DRIVING THE TRUCK THERE IS NO DOUBT THEY WOULD HAVE WRECKED AND MOST DEFINITELY HURT THE DRIVER IN THE KIA NEXT TO ME. I HAVE OWNED 5 FORD TRUCKS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS DEATH WOBBLE OCCUR IN THOSE TRUCKS. WHEN I GOT TO MY OFFICE I LOOKED IT UP ON THE INTERNET AND SAW THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD F250 AND 350'S BETWEEN 2009 AND 2019. I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY FORD FACTORY WARRANTY BUT THAT THEY GET 3-4 CALLS PER WEEK ABOUT IT. I HAVE NOT MODIFIED ANYTHING ON THE VEHICLE AND IT REMAINS A STOCK VEHICLE. FORD SHOULD NOT ALLOW THESE TRUCKS TO REMAIN ON THE ROAD. THEY ARE A DEATH TRAP AND WILL CAUSE FATALITIES IF SOMETHING ISN'T DONE ABOUT THIS DEFECT IN THE STEERING STABILIZER AND TRACK BAR. I WILL BE SELLING THIS VEHICLE AS THE REPAIR IS OVER $2,500. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. AS THE ENFORCER OF SAFETY ON THE ROADS IT IS YOUR DUTY TO MAKE FORD RECALL ALL 250 AND 350'S THAT HAVE THESE INADEQUATE STEERING STABILIZERS AND TRACK BARS. PEOPLE WILL BE HURT AND KILLED. THE BLOOD WILL BE ON YOUR HANDS OF THE NTSA AND FORD IF SOMETHING ISN'T DONE.

ON FRIDAY JAN 8TH AT APPROXIMATELY 10:20 IN THE AM I WAS DRIVING EASTBOUND AT 65 MPH (SPEED LIMIT) ON THE I-215 IN LAS VEGAS ON THE "CURVE" BETWEEN WIGWAM AND EASTERN PARKWAY. NEARING THE EASTERN EXIT I HIT AN EXPANSION JOINT OF THE CONCRETE CEMENT AND INSTANTLY THE FRONT END STEERING STARTED VIBRATING VIOLENTLY. THE WHEELS AS APPEARED TO ME TO WANT TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE OFF. I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE STEERING. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED "BUMP STEER" OR "DEATH WOBBLE" UNTIL NOW. I REMEMBER TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND THEN FRANTICALLY TRYING TO SEE WHO IS ON THE SIDES OF ME. IT WASN'T GETTING BETTER. SO WHAT MUST HAVE BEEN ONLY A COUPLE OF SECONDS LATER I STARTED BREAKING WHILE TRYING TO HANG ON TO THE STEERING WHEEL. I SLOWLY APPLIED BREAKS AS THE F350 FRONT END SEEMED TO BE A BUCKING RODEO HORSE. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IT TOOK 20 SECONDS TO BRING THE SPEED DOWN DOWN TO 42-25 MPH WHEN THE VIOLENT SHAKING OF THE SUSPENSION, WHEELS, AND STEERING WHEEL ENDED. UPON CONTROL I LOOKED AROUND AND SAW THAT NOBODY WAS AROUND ME AND A TRUCK WITH A TRAILER WAS WAY BEHIND ME. I WAS LUCKY AS TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT BECAUSE I DO NOT BELIEVE I WAS ABLE TO STAY IN MY LANE. I AM SURE I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN MULT-CAR WRECK IF IT WAS DURING NORMAL LAS VEGAS TRAFFIC. I DROVE HOME AT 55 MPH WONDERING WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED. I HAD NO LONGER CONFIDENCE THAT MY VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE FOR MYSELF OR OTHERS. FOR THE RECORD ON 9 DECEMBER I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO FORD COUNTRY FOR FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM (20N04). THIS IS FOR A "REDESIGNED STEERING LINKAGE DAMPER"; IT WAS OUT OF STOCK AND I RECEIVED MY VEHICLE BACK WITHOUT REPAIR ON 10 DECEMBER. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN BECAUSE OF THE NOTICE AND THAT I EXPERIENCED A THREE SECOND STEERING CONTROL EVENT WHEN I DID HIT A POT-HOLE IN SEPTEMBER. I DID NOT REPORT IT AS IT WAS JUST HEAVY VIBRATION. I AM EXPERIENCING THE "DEATH WOBBLE". IT STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO WHEN I WOULD GET MINOR SHAKING IN THE STEERING AFTER HITTING A BUMP AT HIGH SPEED . THE TRUCK WOULD SHAKE BAD FOR A SHORT PERIOD AND THEN SLOWING DOWN IT WOULD STOP. I TOOK IT IN AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THEN IT GOT WORSE, THE SHAKING BECAME MORE VIOLENT AND MORE FREQUENT. I TOOK IT IN AGAIN AND THEY STILL COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. NOW IT HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT THAT I AM REALLY AFRAID OF IT. THE OTHER DAY I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE, IN CONSTRUCTION WITH BARRIER RAILS AND NO SHOULDER AND IT STARTED. I COULD NOT GET IT TO STOP. I GOT DOWN TO AROUND 20 MPH AND IT WAS STILL SHAKING AND I COULD NOT PULL OVER. FINALLY, SPEEDING UP GOT IT TO STOP. I BEGAN TO EXTENSIVELY RESEARCH THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT IT IS QUITE COMMON AND NO SPECIFIC REPAIR TO STOP IT. I AM GOING TO A TIRE SHOP TODAY AND DEMAND THAT SEVERAL REPAIRS ARE MADE IN HOPES THAT ONE OF THEM FIXES THE PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT REPLACING THE TRACK BAR, STEERING STABILIZER, FRONT BRAKES, TIRES, AND HAVING IT ALIGNED WITH A GREATER CASTER CAN FIX IT.

I'M A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER IN TULSA, OK AND I WAS WONDERING IF YOUR AGENCY HAS RECEIVED COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE 2019 FORD TRUCKS WITH THE FRONT END ISSUE CALLED THE 'DEATH WOBBLE'? THIS HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES THIS YEAR AND WE TAKE IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT OCCURS. THE LAST TIME THE TRUCK WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR TWO WEEKS. FOWLER FORD CALLED AND SAID OUT TRUCK WAS FINALLY READY FOR PICKUP. WE IMMEDIATELY WENT AND PICKED IT UP, AND WITHIN 50-60 MILES THE DEATH WOBBLE OCCURRED AND BLEW OUT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE NEARLY CAUSING US TO HIT A GUARD RAIL WITH A HUGE EMBANKMENT. WHEN THE TRUCK TIRE BLEW OUT IT TORE OUT THE WIRING HARNESS, DAMAGED THE FENDER, THE DOOR CAUSING OVER $10K IN DAMAGE. PLEASE GOOGLE 'DEATH WOBBLE'. IT IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND I'M SURPRISED FORD HAS NOT DONE A RECALL. MY INSURANCE IS GOING TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES TO THE TRUCK. WE STILL WON'T HAVE A WORK TRUCK BECAUSE FORD DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FIX FOR IT. OUR DRIVER CAME WITHIN A INCH OR TWO FROM HITTING A GUARD RAIL AND GOING DOWN A HUGE EMBANKMENT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. EXPERIENCED DEATH WABBLE ON A 2019 FORD F350 AFTER HITTING A SMALL BUMP WHILE TRAVELING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT 40 MPH ON A PAVED MAJOR CITY STREET. ABLE TO STOP THE WABBLE AFTER SLOWING TO 25 MPH. TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 5000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. DRIVE-TRAIN AND SUSPENSION ARE STOCK AND TRUCK PURCHASED FROM A NEW VEHICLE DEALERSHIP LESS THAN ONE YEAR AGO. SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME AS I WOULD EXPECT TO EXPERIENCE WITH WORN SUSPENSION PARTS ON A JEEP CHEROKEE OR WRANGLER, NOT A NEW TRUCK. GIVEN THE NEWNESS OF THE VEHICLE AND LOW MILEAGE, IT IS HIGHLY UNLIKELY TO BE WORN PARTS, WHICH MEANS IT IS POSSIBLE THERE IS A DESIGN DEFECT WHERE THE FRAME AT THE STEERING BOX OR A SUSPENSION INTERFACE FLEXES CREATING THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS WORN COMPONENTS

I HAD TO DECELERATE DOWN TO ABOUT 15-20 MPH BEFORE WOBBLE WENT AWAY. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE VEHICLE WAS NEW. FIRST TIME WAS LESS SEVERE. VEHICLE IS FACTORY STOCK WITH 8000 MILES ON IT.

THIS MADE CONTROL VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS. I CHECKED THE AIR PRESSURE WHICH WAS AT THE RECOMMEND LEVEL. BOTH TIMES I WAS TRAVELING ON WELL MAINTAINED STATE HWY. I FIND THIS UNACCEPTABLE AND HIGHLY DANGEROUS. THIS WAS ON A STRAIGHT ROAD.

OUR VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED THE FORD "DEATH WOBBLE" ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THIS IS PARTICULARLY CONCERNING AND DANGEROUS WHILE TOWING A 20K POUND FIFTH WHEEL. AT ONE POINT THE WOBBLE WAS SO SEVERE THAT IT DAMAGED OUR FIFTH WHEEL, THE BED OF THE TRUCK, AND WE COULD NOT CONTROL THE VEHICLE WHEN WE HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD. FORD HAS A BAD REPUTATION FOR THIS ISSUE, LONG STANDING, AND I REQUEST THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WOULD INVESTIGATE WHY THEY CONTINUE TO PRODUCE VEHICLES WITHOUT CORRECTING THE ISSUE. WE HAVE HAD OURS FIXED BUT THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN DEATH AND IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE THAT FORD CONTINUES TO SELL A PRODUCT WITH A POTENTIALLY DEADLY SAFETY ISSUE. THE DATE BELOW IS ONE OF MANY DATES.

WHILE DRIVING MY FORD F350 APPROXIMATELY 50MPH ON A STATE HIGHWAY, I HIT A SLIGHT DEPRESSION IN THE ROADWAY AFTER CROSSING A BRIDGE. THE VEHICLE'S FRONT END AND STEERING WHEEL BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY . I HAD TO COME TO ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP TO MAKE THE SHAKING STOP. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED AS THE FORD DEATH WOBBLE. THE VEHICLE HAD 27800 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. I HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER FOR AN INSPECTION AND REPAIR. I STOPPED TO EXAMINE THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE, BUT THERE WAS NO APPARENT REASON FOR THE INCIDENT.

DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT AROUND 60 MPH WHEN TRUCK HAD VIOLENT SHAKING ISSUE. HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP TO GET IT UNDER CONTROL. SHAKING SO BAD COULD HARDLY HANG ON TO STEERING WHEEL. THOUGHT THAT WAS SCARY AND ODD, WENT DOWN THE HIGHWAY ABOUT A MILE DID IT AGAIN! (THIS WAS GOING STRAIGHT BUT HITTING SOME UNEVEN ROAD. ONCE WAS A SEAM AT A BRIDGE) TURNED AROUND AND HEAD HOME DID IT TWICE MORE. READY FOR IT THIS TIME. GOT HOME LOOKED ON THE COMPUTER FOUND IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM CALLED THE DEATH WOBBLE. CALLED DEALER AND THEY SAID BRING IT AND WE WILL REPLACE THE STEERING SHOCK. WELL AS A MECHANIC OF HEAVY EQUIPMENT AND A DRIVER OF PICK UP TRUCKS FOR OVER 40+ YEARS I KNOW THIS IS ONLY A BAND AID! THE VALUE OF THE TRUCK AND THE VALUE OF THE LIVES IN THIS TRUCK DEMANDS MORE ATTENTION THEN A BAND AID. NO DASH CAM TO CAPTURE EVENT AND NOT GOING BACK OUT AND TRYING TO GET IT AS THEY HAVE IT ON YOUTUBE (COME TO FIND OUT). I NOW KNOW THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BUT NOT SURE IF THE WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO HOLD ON TO THE WHEEL AND IF NOT THE WOULD HAVE BEEN A CRASH. WISH I HAD KNOWN THIS BEFORE I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK! VERY VERY DANGEROUS. AS A KNOWN ISSUE (FOR SOME) FOR A FEW YEARS NOW DO PEOPLE NEED TO DIE BEFORE FORD HAS A RECALL ON THIS AND FIXES THE ISSUE. I THOUGHT I DID MY RESEARCH ON THIS VEHICLE THROUGH CAR FAX AND OTHER SITES AND DID NOT SEE THIS ISSUE.

MY 2019 FORD F-350 WITH 16,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER IS EXPERIENCING VIOLET SHAKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 50-65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL IS TO SLOW DOWN ON DANGEROUS HIGHWAYS TO BELOW 30 MPH. I FEEL IT'S GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT SOONER OR LATER. THE VEHICLE IS ALL STOCK AND NO MODIFICATIONS OF THE TIRES, WHEELS, OR SUSPENSION HAVE BEEN PERFORMED.

ON THREE OCCASIONS, ON HIGHWAYS, WE HAVE HIT A POT HOLE OR BUMP, AND THE F350 GOES INTO AN EXTREME WOBBLE WITH THE STEERING WHEEL. IT IS INCREDIBLY JARRING AND WE'VE ALMOST LOST CONTROL. WHEN BROUGHT TO DEALER, THEY REPLACED THE DAMPER. I'VE NOW DONE RESEARCH AND THERE ARE COUNTLESS PERSONS GOING THROUGH THIS EXACT ISSUE: HTTPS://WWW.FACEBOOK.COM/GROUPS/158686091563038 I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS SO PREVALENT AND UNADDRESSED. SOMEONE'S GOING TO BE HURT BADLY OR WORSE. APPARENTLY THE DEALERS JUST ARE REPLACING THE DAMPER TO COVER THEMSELVES. THIS IS NOT A LONG TERM SOLUTION. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH AND WENT OVER A BRIDGE SEAM IN THE ROADWAY. THE SEAM WAS AT AN ANGLE. THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHOOK BADLY. THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK AND RATTLED SO MUCH I HAD DIFFICULTY HOLDING ON TO IT. AS A RESULT, THE TRUCK VEERED OUT OF MY LANE AND IN TO THE OTHER LANE (THANK GOODNESS THERE WASN'T ANOTHER VEHICLE THERE) BEFORE I COULD GRAB THE WHEEL AGAIN AND SLOW THE TRUCK. HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO ABOUT 30-35 MPH TO GET THE SHAKING TO STOP. SURPRISED I WASN'T REAR-ENDED IN THAT PROCESS... THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES - ALL WHILE AT OR OVER ABOUT 50 MPH, AND AFTER DRIVING OVER SOME UNEVEN PAVEMENT/PAVEMENT IMPERFECTIONS (VERY MILD UNEVENNESS SUCH AS A BRIDGE SEAM AND SMALL ROADWAY PATCH; DOESN'T MATTER IF I HIT IT AT AN ANGLE OR NOT). THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS 5/25/2020 WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK. IT DIDN'T LAST LONG AND I THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE... BUT NOW IT HAPPENS MORE FREQUENTLY. THE TRUCK SHAKES EVEN WORSE/ SHAKING LASTS WAY LONGER WHEN THE UNEVEN SURFACE IS MORE PRONOUNCED SUCH AS A POTHOLE, THE UNEVEN SURFACE IS AN ANGLE, OR THE PATH DRIVEN IS ON A CURVE. I ONCE HAD A JEEP WRANGLER (EARLY 2000'S) THAT DID THIS. IT WAS KNOWN AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE." THIS FEELS THE SIMILAR EXCEPT THE SHAKING IS MORE VIOLENT.

WHILE DRIVING MY FORD F350 ON A RURAL HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH (60 MPH LIMIT) WENT OVER RAILROAD TRACKS AND EXPERIENCED WHAT IS COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE". MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 12,200 MILES ON IT. I HAVE HEARD OF THIS, BUT UNTIL YOU EXPERIENCE IT FOR YOURSELF, THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW HOW SCARY IT IS TO LOSE CONTROL OF A 7,000+ POUND VEHICLE. I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER TO STOP IT, THIS TIME. I HAVE READ SEVERAL BLOGS ABOUT FORD DEALERS NOT TREATING THIS SERIOUSLY UNLESS THE INCIDENT(S) ARE REPORTED TO NHTSA. I AM SURE THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AS IT SEEMS TO ALWAYS BE PRESENT ON VEHICLES THAT START.

HITTING A BUMP OR BRIDGE JUNCTURE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (>65) CAUSES A VIOLENT RESONANCE IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION. THE TRUCK SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND THE STEERING WHEEL TURNS SIDE TO SIDE RAPIDLY. THE SHAKING GETS WORSE UNLESS YOU QUICKLY SLOW DOWN TO <35 MPH. TIRE PRESSURES WERE AT THE FORD RECOMMENDED PSI AND THE VEHICLE WAS WITHIN PAYLOAD AND TOWING LIMITS. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WITH ABOUT 26,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK. FORD "FIXED' THE PROBLEM, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED AGAIN AT 33,000 MILES. FORD ISSUED A NEW FIX WHICH HAS BEEN APPLIED TO THE VEHICLE WHICH NOW HAS 41,000 MILES. THE FIX WAS TO REPLACE THE DRAG LINKS AND PUT A VERY STIFF STEERING DAMPER ON WHICH GREATLY INCREASED THE STEERING EFFORT. THE UNDERLYING ISSUE OF POOR FRONT SUSPENSION DESIGN IS STILL THERE AND WE CAN FEEL THE ISSUE IS COMING BACK AND IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. ONE OF THE TIMES THIS HAPPENED, A TANKER TRUCK WAS FOLLOWING ME AND HAD TO SWERVE INTO THE OTHER LANE ON I-65 NEAR CULLMAN, AL TO AVOID ME WHEN I HAD TO SLOW QUICKLY TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, IT IS VERY VIOLENT AND YOU CAN NOT CONTROL THE VEHICLE. IF YOU DO NOT SLOW DOWN IMMEDIATELY, IT GETS WORSE.

I OWN A 2019 FORD F350 WITH ABOUT 13,500 MILES ON IT. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS I HAVE EXPERIENCED WHAT SEEMS TO BE NAMED THE FORD "DEATH WOBBLE". WHEN DRIVING OCCASIONALLY THE TRUCK STARTS TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY CAUSING THE DRIVER TO DEATH GRIP THE STEERING WHEEL TO AVOID LOSING CONTROL. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED 10-15 TIMES IN ABOUT 4 MONTHS. FORD DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM, AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO PUT IN WRITING AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE EXACT ISSUE I AM BRINGING THE TRUCK IN FOR. THEY CALL IT "RECALLS" HOWEVER THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTS TO MOVE SIDE TO SIDE MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STAY IN THE LANE OF TRAVEL. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT SPEEDS OF 30 MILES PER HOUR ON CITY ROADS AND 65 MILES PER HOUR ON THE FREEWAY. SLOWING DOWN OR REMOVING YOUR FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR ONLY MAKES THE PROBLEM WORSE AS WE SLOW DOWN. I HAVE A VIDEO RECORDED OF ONE OF THE TIMES THIS OCCURRED WHICH WE WERE GOING ABOUT 63 MILES PER HOUR, WE SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 42 MILES PER HOUR RAPIDLY IN AN ATTEMPT TO KEEP CONTROL. DOING THIS ALMOST CAUSED THE CAR BEHIND US TO HIT US AND THE CAR TO THE RIGHT OF US NEEDED TO STEER OUT OF THE WAY QUICKLY. FORD DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THIS ISSUE, THE FRONT TIRES ON THE VEHICLE LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN CHOPPED UP DUE TO THE BOUNCING THAT OCCURS DURING THE WOBBLE. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IF FORD DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE A VIDEO THAT I WILL GLADLY SHARE, THIS ONLY LETS ME UPLOAD PICTURES

MY 2019 F350 TRUCK EXPERIENCED THE DEATH WOBBLE MULTIPLE TIMES ON RECENT TRIP. WHILE TOWING OUR CAMPER WE HIT A SEEM IN THE ROAD WHICH CAUSED THE TRUCK TO START VIOLENTLY SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY. I THOUGHT WE BROKE AND AXLE. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE TRUCK AND PULL OVER. I COULD NOT FIND ANY DAMAGE AND SO WE CONTINUED. THE TRUCK HAD APPROXIMATELY 18500 MILES ON IT. THIS DID NOT OCCUR AGAIN FOR ABOUT 1500 MILES WHERE IT HAPPENED WHEN WE HIT A SMALL POT HOLE WITH OUR FRONT LEFT TIRE. AGAIN, VIOLENT UNCONTROLLABLE SHAKING THAT ONLY STOPS WHEN SPEED IS BELOW 30 MPH. I SLOWED TO PULL OVER BUT IT STOPPED WHEN MY SPEED GOT LOW ENOUGH. WE CONTINUED CAUTIOUSLY NOT KNOWING WHAT HAPPENED. I DID SOME RESEARCH BUT COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING AT THE TIME. WE WERE ON AN 8 WEEK TRIP AND HAD STARTED OUR RETURN DIRECTION SO WE CONTINUED. ABOUT 1300 MILES LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN, STOPPED WHEN OUR SPEED DROPPED. THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO FIND INFORMATION ON THE "DEATH WOBBLE" AND NOW UNDERSTOOD THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WE WERE EXPERIENCING. I HAD TO DECIDE HOW TO PROCEED AS WE HAD OUR FAMILY AND CAMPER 1400 MILES AWAY FROM HOME AT THIS POINT. I DROVE VERY CAUTIOUSLY, AND DESPITE MY BEST EFFORTS IT HAPPENED 2 MORE TIMES, ONCE WITHOUT THE CAMPER. ON OUR LAST LEG FROM TN TO NC THE ROADS WERE ESPECIALLY BAD AND WE HAD 5 MORE INCIDENTS. I DROVE 45 MPH WITH MY HAZARDS ON MUCH OF THE WAY TO GET THE TRUCK HOME. IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND I WOULD SAY IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE ANYMORE. ANY SEAM IN THE ROAD OR POT HOLE THAT IMPACT THE FRONT TIRES AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50 MPH WILL NOW CAUSE THIS TRUCK TO GO INTO VIOLENT UNCONTROLLABLE SHAKING THAT ONLY STOPS WHEN SPEEDS ARE REDUCED TO BELOW 30 MPH. VERY BAD SITUATION TO BE IN, ESPECIALLY WHEN THIS SEEMS TO BE SUCH A KNOW ISSUE. THIS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE.

FELT LIKE THE FRONT TIRES WERE RAPIDLY BOUNCING UP AND DOWN. I IMMEDIATELY RAISED MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATION PEDAL. ONCE IT COASTED DOWN TO ABOUT 40 MPH THE VIBRATION STOPPED. A COUPLE HOURS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE INTERSTATE DOING ABOUT 70 MPH, SAME TRAILER SETUP AS BEFORE. RAISED MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL AND ONCE THE TRUCK SLOWED DOWN A LITTLE BIT THE VIBRATION WENT AWAY. THE TRUCK STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL TIRES ON IT AND THEY HAVE BEEN ROTATED. FIVE OCCURRENCES OF 'DEATH WOBBLE' EXPERIENCED SO FAR. NO AFTERMARKET ACCESSORIES HAVE BEEN INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE AND EVERYTHING IS STOCK FACTORY INSTALLED. 1) THE 1ST OCCURRENCE WAS ON 10/5/2019 AND WE WERE DRIVING SOLO UP A HILL ON HWY 550 DOING ABOUT 45-50 MPH CLIMBING A HILL. WE HIT A BUMP AND I THOUGHT WE HAD FLAT SO PULLED OVER TO CHECK. CHECK AND NO FLAT SO PROCEEDED AND IT NEVER HAPPENED AGAIN SO I NEVER BROUGHT IN TO HAVE THE DEALER (FORD) LOOK AT IT. I DON'T HAVE THE SPECIFIC MILEAGE WHEN THIS OCCURRED. 2) THE 2ND OCCURRENCE WAS ON 5/14/2020 AND WE WERE TOWING OUR 12,000 LBS. 5TH WHEEL ON SOUTHBOUND I-25 IN THE MIDDLE LANE DOING ABOUT 55 MPH. I HIT A BUMP AND THE TRUCK SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND SCARED US TO DEATH AS WE HAD TRAFFIC ON BOTH SIDES OF US AND NEED TO SLOW RAPIDLY. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN QUICKLY WHILE KEEPING THE TRUCK IN MY LANE AND NOT GET RE-ENDED. THIS IS A VERY SCARY FEELING HAVING A TRUCK OUT OF CONTROL TOWING A 12K TRAILER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. MILEAGE WAS 21,927. 3) THE 3RD OCCURRENCE WAS ON 5/14/2020 AND WE WERE TOWING OUR 12,000 LBS. 5TH WHEEL ON HWY 24 W DOING ABOUT 45 MPH. I HIT A BUMP AND THE TRUCK SHOOK VIOLENTLY AGAIN AND I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN RAPIDLY AS WE WERE HEADING UP HILL. MILEAGE WAS 21,975. 4) THE 4TH OCCURRENCE WAS ON 5/14/2020 AND WE WERE TOWING OUR 12,000 LBS. 5TH WHEEL ON HWY 24 W DOING ABOUT 45 MPH. I HIT A BUMP AND THE TRUCK SHOOK VIOLENTLY AGAIN AND I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN RAPIDLY AS WE WERE HEADING UP HILL. THIS WAS THE THIRD ONE IN ABOUT 50 MILES. ALL OF A SUDDEN I HIT A BUMPY PATCH IN THE ROAD AND THE FRONT END STARTED VIBRATING LIKE A TUNING FORK. IT WAS VIBRATING SO FAST AND SO BAD THAT WE HAD TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY (IN THREE LANES OF HEAVY TRAFFIC) IN ORDER TO GET IT TO STOP. IT CONTINUED UNTIL WE COULD GET OFF THE HIGHWAY FOR A GOOD TEN OR FIFTEEN SECONDS MAYBE EVEN LONGER TO GET OFF THE ROAD. I HAD TWO PALLETS OF TILE IN THE BACK END AND WAS WORRIED IT WAS GOING TO VIBRATE THEM ONTO THE ROAD. AFTER THE TRUCK STOPPED THE VIBRATING STOPPED OF COURSE. I WALKED AROUND LOOKING FOR A FLAT TIRE OR OTHER ISSUE BUT NOTHING. THEN WE GOT ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN AND THE PROBLEM WAS NO LONGER THERE. I HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM IN MUCH LESS SEVERE CASES MANY TIMES WHERE A VIBRATION HAPPENED AFTER HITTING A ROUGH SPOT BUT NOTHING LIKE THIS. I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT KELLY FORD AND THEY SAID UNLESS WE COULD DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM THEY CAN'T REALLY DO MUCH ABOUT THE PROBLEM. NEAR BRAND NEW 2019 FORD F350 DUALLY TRUCK - EXPERIENCED THE SO-CALLED "DEATH WOBBLE". WAS AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 50MPH AND WENT OVER A BRIDGE. WHEN HITTING THE "BUMP" IN THE TRANSITION BETWEEN THE BRIDGE AND THE PAVEMENT, THE TRUCK WENT INTO THE VIOLENT SHAKE/SHIMMY AND I COULD NOT MAINTAIN CONTROL - BRAKING DID NOT HELP UNTIL I COULD MANAGE TO SLOW TO ABOUT 2 MPH. I WAS ON A CITY STREET AND THE BRIDGE/ROADWAY WAS AT A SLIGHT LEFT TURN WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED. THIS EXTREME VIBRATION IN THE ENTIRE TRUCK AND STEERING WHEEL VIOLENTLY SHAKING IS KNOWN ONLINE AS THE DEATH WOBBLE. MY TRUCK IS NEARLY NEW, HAS ONLY 3600 MILES ON IT AND IS 100% STOCK. NO WHEEL/TIRE/SUSPENSION MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN MADE

ON NOV 20,2019, WHILE TRAVELING FROM CORNVILLE, AZ TO LITTLETON, CO I EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT WOBBLE WITH MY 2019 FORD F350 SUPER DUTY DIESEL TRUCK. I WAS STARTING TO GO UP RATON PASS IN NEW MEXICO (JUST NORTH OF RATON, NM) AND EXPERIENCED THE VIBRATION GOING ROUGHLY 60-65MPH. ON OUR RETURN HOME ON 12/02/19 I EXPERIENCED IT AGAIN WHEN DRIVING ON I25 THROUGH COLORADO SPRINGS. I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH SANDERSON FORD IN GLENDALE, AZ AND THEY CONVEYED TO ME THAT FORD HAS AUTHORIZED THEIR DEALERSHIPS TO REPLACE THE STEERING DAMPENER AND THAT WAS DONE ON 01/17/19. WHEN THIS CONDITION INITIALLY HAPPENED THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 9400 MILES AND ON THE RETURN TRIP THE MILEAGE WAS 10,127.

BRAND NEW TRUCK WITH 3000 MILES ON IT AND THE FRONT END IS VERY LOOSE FEELING. LOTS OF STEERING WHEEL SHAKING ( SIDE TO SIDE MOVEMENT) WHEN HITTING BUMPS. DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER AND IT IS SLIGHTLY BETTER FOR NOW. I AM WORRIED THERE IS A BIGGER PROBLEM THAT IS CREATING UNWANTED WEAR AND TEAR ON THE CRITICAL STEERING LINKAGE AND IT WILL NEED TO BE REPAIRED OFTEN TO KEEP IT SAFE. HAPPENS MOSTLY AT SPEEDS OVER 40 MILES PER HOUR AND WORSE WHEN HITTING BUMPS ON CURVES LIKE TIGHT INTERSTATE ON RAMPS

I EXPERIENCED THE FORD "DEATH WOBBLE". TRAVELING IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT 70MPH PULLING A LARGE 5TH WHEEL TRAILER I HIT A SMALL BUMP ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I HAD TO SLOW TO 40 MPH BEFORE IT STOPPED. I THOUGHT THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK WAS GOING TO COME APART. AS SOON AS I MADE IT TO MY DESTINATION I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE LOCAL FORD DEALER. THEY KEPT IT FOR A DAY AND SAID THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG BUT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND SAID FORD WAS WORKING ON A SOLUTION THAT WAS NOT YET READY. I ASKED THE DEALER TO ROTATE THE TIRES AND ALIGN THE FRONT END. THEY KEPT THE TRUCK ANOTHER DAY AND COMPLETED MY REQUEST. THE TRUCK IS A 2019 AND HAS JUST OVER 21,000 MILES. EVERY TIME I HIT A BUMP NOW I GRIP THE WHELL A LITTLE HARDER. I NOW UNDERSTAND THERE HAS BEEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FILED FOR THE ISSUE AND I WOULD FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THE NHTSA HAS NOT STEPPED IN. I HOPE YOU HAVE ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE WITH FORD AND WOULD APPRECIATE A RESPONSE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. I AM NOT EDUCATED ENOUGH WITH COMPUTERS TO UPLOAD A DOCUMENT. THE ONLY DOCUMENT I HAVE IS THE WORK ORDER FROM THE DEALER.

DRIVING AT 50 MPH, HIT A SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD, EXPERIENCED SEVERE SHAKING OF TRUCK AND STEERING OUT OF CONTROL. THE "DEATH WOBBLE" WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL SPEED WAS REDUCED TO A NEAR STOP. FIRST HAPPENED 1/17/20 WITH 12,005 MILE. DEALER REPLACED STEERING DAMPER ON 2/1/20 AT 13,120 MILES.

EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE." THE STEERING WHEEL AND TIRES SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLE AND I NEARLY CRASHED. HAD TO SLAM ON THE BREAKS AND STOP. ONLY HAVE 26000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I AM TAKING IT IN FOR THEM TO WORK ON BUT IT CONCERNS ME THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. OUR OTHER TRUCK THAT IS EXACTLY THE SAME DID THE SAME THING THIS WEEK TOO AND ARE TAKING IT IN ALSO. WAS DRIVING WITH A LOAD OF ~19,000 POUNDS (FIFTH WHEEL) AT ~55 MPH, WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY UNTIL I CAME TO A STOP. THE FOLLOWING DAY WAS DRIVING WITHOUT A LOAD AT ~60 MPH, HIT A ROUGH SPOT IN THE ROAD, AND THE STEERING WHEEL BAGAN SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY UNTIL I CAME TO A STOP. THE TRUCK HAS DONE THIS MORE THAN 5 TIMES BUT LESS THAN 10 DURING THE LAST 30 DAYS. THIS ISSUE BEGAN WHEN MY TRUCK HAD ~24000 MILES ON IT. THE VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS WHILE DRIVING ON STATE HIGHWAYS AND LOCAL ROADS, BUT ALL PAVED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. THERE IS A STEERING DAMPENER THE DEALERSHIP WOULD LIKE TO TRY. I AM UNABLE TO USE THE VEHICLE FOR ITS INTENDED PURPOSE, ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP.

FRONT WHEELS/STEERING STABILIZER BARS. 2019 F-350 SRW WITH 8' BED AND 5400 MILES ON THE TRUCK. THE FRONT WHEELS STARTED BOUNCING WHEN HITTING POTHOLES. IT WAS NOTICEABLE AT LOWER SPEEDS (LESS THAN 35MPH) BUT IT WAS SIGNIFICANTLY MORE DEFINED AT SPEEDS OF OVER 35-40MPH. I DID NOT THINK MUCH OF IT UNTIL IT OCCURRED A COUPLE OF TIMES WHILE DOING ABOUT 45MPH AND TO A POINT WHERE I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. NOTE: THE TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN OFF-ROAD OR DRIVEN RECKLESSLY. I RECENTLY TURNED IT IN TO FORD WHERE THEY CONFIRMED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN MANY OTHER INSTANCES REPORTED WITH THE SAME MODEL/YEAR TRUCK. TECHNICIAN STATED IT IS BECOMING A COMMON COMPLAINT AND RELATED TO A FAULTY FRONT WHEEL STABILIZER BARS. FORD IS CURRENTLY REPLACING THE STABILIZER BARS ON MY TRUCK. HENCE I FELT OBLIGATED TO REPORT THIS ISSUE IN HOPES TO AVOID SOMEONE POSSIBLY GETTING INTO A SEVERE ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS FAULTY STABILIZER BARS.

ON 1/13/20 WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL. BY THE TIME I GOT SLOW DOWN ENOUGH TO SOP I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE (INCOMING TRAFFIC). LUCKILY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC OR I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO MAKE THIS COMPLAINT AS I WOULD OF BEEN HIT HEAD ON AND HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. MY DEALER SAID HE HAD ANOTHER TRUCK WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND IT WOULD TAKE 2 MONTHS TO GET A PART TO MAYBE FIX IT. $65,000 AND I HAVE A TRUCK I'M SCARED TO DRIVE. IT'S A 2019 WITH 7,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE A PREGNANT WIFE AND 3 CHILDREN. THE ISSUES WITH THESE TRUCKS ARE DEATH TRAPS. THIS TRUCK IS BASICALLY A ONE TON WRECKING BALL THAT I CAN LOSE CONTROL OF AT ANY MINUTE. IT'S MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THESE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. MY WIFE WON'T GET IN IT AND WON'T ALLOW THE KIDS IN THE TRUCK. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. SINCE IT HAPPENED I RESEARCHED POSSIBLE CAUSES AND HAVE LEARNED THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE IN THESE VEHICLES. AT THIS POINT I'M AFRAID TO I'M EITHER GOING TO DIE OR KILL SOMEONE ELSE IN THIS VEHICLE. IF I COULD SIMPLY RETURN IT I WOULD TOMORROW.

I PURCHASED A NEW F350 IN 04/19. IT HAS AN ISSUE THAT CAUSES THE STEERING AND FRONT END TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY WHEN IT HITS A BUMP IN THE ROAD WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE ISSUE IS ONLY CORRECTED BY SLOWING THE VEHICLE. SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE HAS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE THE VEHICLE WILL STOP SHAKING. THE ISSUE HAS HAPPENED NO LESS THAN 12 TIMES AS OF 12/31/19. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY MADE ADJUSTMENTS AND REPLACED STEERING DAMPENER BOTH TIMES AND THE ISSUE WAS NOT A PRESENT UNTIL 6-8 WEEKS AFTER REPAIRS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I AM VERY FORTUNATE THAT THIS HAS NOT LED TO AN ACCIDENT YET.

AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 45 MPH, WHEN HITTING ROUGH PAVEMENT OR A JOINT IN THE ROADWAY (SUCH AS A FREEWAY OVERPASS OR BRIDGE), THE STEERING WHEEL WOBBLES (OSCILLATES) VIOLENTLY BACK AND FORTH. IT CANNOT RECOVER UNTIL SPEEDS ARE REDUCED BELOW 45 MPH. THIS IS REPEATABLE. I HAVE FILMED AN OCCURRENCE AND POSTED ON YOUTUBE FOR REVIEW: HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=RUPSA7KDSJO THIS VIDEO SHOWS A TYPICAL OCCURRENCE. TRAVELING ABOUT 75 MPH ON A CLEAR, FLAT, STRAIGHT STRETCH OF FREEWAY (I-25, JUST SOUTH OF FORT COLLINS, CO). A SMALL JOINT (A NORMAL PART OF THE FREEWAY) CAUSED THE WHEELS TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY, WHICH CAUSES THE STEERING WHEEL TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE AND OSCILLATE BACK AN FORTH. IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL OR EVEN GRASP THE STEERING WHEEL. THE ONLY RECOURSE IS TO FIND A WAY TO SLOW THE VEHICLE. ONCE SPEEDS DIP BELOW ABOUT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE IS ABLE TO RECOVER. MY VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY STOCK AND HAS NO AFTERMARKET PARTS, SHOCKS, LIFTS, OR OTHER EQUIPMENT. IT HAS STOCK WHEELS, STOCK TIRES, STOCK SUSPENSION COMPONENTS, ETC. IT HAD ABOUT 13,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER WHEN THIS PROBLEM BEGAN. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM (INTERNET) AND FORD HAD A SERVICE BULLETIN TSO 18-2268 TO ADDRESS. HOWEVER, THIS TSB ONLY APPLIES TO TRUCKS BUILT ON OR BEFORE 31-JULY-2018. MY TRUCK WAS BUILT DURING MARCH 2019. FORD CLEARLY HASN'T RESOLVED THE UNDERLYING ISSUE AND NOW DOESN'T EVEN HAVE AN ACTIVE TSB TO ADDRESS THE SYMPTOMS.

THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH FORD TRUCKS THAT IS COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS THE DEATH WOBBLE. MY TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN IN THREE TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE. ONCE FORD CORRECTED THE ISSUE AND IT CAME BACK. WHEN IT CAME BACK WAS TOLD THERE ARE UPDATED PARTS HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR WELL OVER A MONTH WITH NO FEEDBACK FROM FORD. REACHED OUT YET AGAIN TO THEM AND WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD BE ESCALATED. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD HAVE ACTIVE MANAGEMENT AND COMMUNICATION FROM FORD AND IT DOES NOT. PEOPLE ARE TOLD THEY HAVE TO WAIT WITH NO UPDATE. NOW IT APPEARS I HAVE BEEN ESCALATED (WE SHALL SEE) BUT I AM CONCERNED FOR OTHERS THAT MAY NOT BE AWARE OF WHAT TO DO IN ORDER TO GET THIS ADDRESSED. CAN YOU REACH OUT TO FORD AND SEE HOW/WHAT THEIR PLAN IS TO COMMUNICATE AND SUPPORT IMPACTED PARTIES? ISSUE OCCURS WHEN DRIVING ANYTHING OVER 45 MPH AND TO RESOLVE YOU MUST SLOW TO BELOW 25 MPH. THINK OF THIS OCCURRING WHEN ON HIGHWAY AND HAVING LIMITED CONTROL OF A 1 TON TRUCK. ISSUE OCCURS AT RANDOM TIMES SO THERE IS NO WAY TO AVOID IT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO OPELIKA FORD (801 COLUMBUS PKWY, OPELIKA, AL) AND TOWN AND COUNTRY FORD (1101 MARTIN ST. N, PELL CITY, AL) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING TRACK BAR AND STEERING BUSHINGS WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I SEEMED TO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE "FORD DEAT"H WOBBLE, I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY REFERRED TO WHAT I EXPERIENCED AS A KNOWN PROBLEM REFERRED TO AS "DEATH WOBBLE". IF A VEHICLE WOULD HAV BEEN COMING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN DEATH AT THE SPEED I WAS TRAVELING. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS ~15000 MILES ON IT. AT APPROXIMATELY 14,000 MILES THE VEHICLE DEVELOPED A SEVERE VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEN GOING OVER EVEN A SMALL BUMP ON THE FREEWAY AT FREEWAY SPEED. THE VIBRATION CONTINUED TO GET PROGRESSIVELY WORSE UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THAT SOLD US THE TRUCK. THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAD TO REPLACE A NUMBER OF STEERING COMPONENTS IN THE FRONT END AND INDICATED THAT A TIRE PROBLEM CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE TIRES, WHEELS AND ALL STEERING COMPONENTS WERE OEM AND NO MODIFICATIONS HAD BEEN MADE TO THE VEHICLE STEERING OR SUSPENSION SYSTEM WHEN THE ISSUE OCCURRED. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE GOODYEAR TIRES INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY WERE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM AND RECOMMENDED INSTALLING MICHELIN TIRES TO ALLEVIATE ANY FUTURE ISSUES. THE STEERING WAS REPAIRED AND THE TIRES REPLACED BY THE DEALER. SINCE THOSE REPAIRS ANOTHER SIMILAR VEHICLE IN OUR FLEET THAT CAME WITH OEM MICHELIN TIRES AND HAS UNDER 10,000 MILES HAS STARTED TO DEVELOP THE SAME ISSUE. THE DEALER HAS INDICATED THAT THIS MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH F350 MODELS BUT CONTINUES TO BLAME GOODYEAR FOR THE PROBLEM AND NO OTHER SOLUTIONS TO FIX THE ISSUE HAVE BEEN INDICATED.

DURING SPEEDS 50 MPH OR ABOVE THE FRONT OF TRUCK WILL SHAKE VIOLENTLY LOSING CONTROL OF STEER AND BREAKING. IT ONLY TAKES THE EDGE OF A CEMENT TRANSITION BETWEEN REGULAR ROAD AND BRIDGE OR SOME BASIC ROUGH SPOTS TO START THE VIOLENT SHAKING. DURING SPEEDS BETWEEN 35 AND 50 AFTER DRIVING OVER ROUGH ROAD FRONT WILL SHIMMY AND SMOOTHOUT. I HAVE HAD 3 NEAR MISSES WITH OTHER VEHICLES DUE TO THE EXTREME AND VIOLENT SHAKING. YESTERDAY WAS A NEAR MISS WITH A SEMI-TRUCK, AND DID NOT GAIN CONTROL UNTIL AFTER CROSSING OVER THREE LANES OF I-435 TRAFFIC OUTSIDE OF KANSAS CITY. AT APPROXIMATELY 60MPH HIT ROUGH SPOT IN ROAD AND TRUCK STARTED 'DEATH WOBBLE'! HAD TO BRAKE HARD TO LESS THAN 20MPH TO GET TRUCK TO STOP. THIS HAPPENED FIRST WITH THE TRUCK HAVING ONLY 2830 MILES ON IT. NEXT TIME ABOUT 100 MILES LATER HAPPENED AT 75MPH AND I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO LOOSE CONTROL. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE 2-3 WEEKS BEFORE THEY WOULD HAVE PARTS AND WAS ALSO TOLD TO NOT EXPECT THE NEW PARTS TO FIX THE TRUCK. I WAS TOLD PRIOR TO PURCHASING THE TRUCK THAT THE ISSUES HAD BEEN FIXED PRIOR TO MY PURCHASE SINCE THE TRUCK WAS BUILT IN SEPTEMBER 2019. I DEPEND ON MY VEHICLES TO MAKE MY LIVING, CAN'T DO THAT WITH THEM IN THE SHOP WITH A UNKNOWN FIX. FORD NEEDS TO STOP BEING ALLOWED TO SELL THIS TRUCKS UNTIL THERE IS A PROVEN FIX!! HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE INJURED OR KILLED DO YOU THIS PROBLEM BEFORE ACTION IS TAKEN. DEALER ASKED ME WHAT I WANTED TO DO AFTER I COMPLAINED ABOUT THE 2-3 WEEK DELAY ON EVEN BEING ABLE TO WORK IN THE TRUCK. I SAID YOU KNEW THESE TRUCKS STILL HAD THE PROBLEM SO JUST REFUND MY MONEY AND I'LL GO DOWN THE ROAD. WAS LAUGHED AT AND SAID THAT WOULDN'T HAPPEN. ON DEC 2, 2019 I WAS DRIVING MY 2019 FORD F-350 (WITH 15,000MI) ON INSTERSTATE 505 AT APPROXIMATELY 65-70MPH WHILE OVERTAKING A TRACTOR-TRAILER. WITH NO OBVIOUS CAUSE, THE FRONT WHEELS / STEERING OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY. I ASSUMED THERE WAS SOME SORT OF MAJOR WHEEL DAMAGE OR BLOWOUT OF A TIRE AND TRIED TO PULL OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS VERY HARD TO STEER AND I DID NOT HAVE ADEQUATE SPEED TO GET SAFELY PAST THE SEMI, SO I SLOWED DOWN IN THE FAST LANE AND PULLED TO THE RIGHT BEHIND THE SEMI. ONCE STOPPED I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND WAS SURPRISED TO FIND NO OBVIOUS DAMAGE. I RESUMED DRIVING WITHOUT ANY APPARENT ISSUE. ABOUT 45MI FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN AT 65MPH. THIS TIME THERE WERE NO VEHICLES NEARBY ON THE HIGHWAY SO I SLOWED BELOW 30MPH AND THE VIBRATION STOPPED. I ACCELERATED BACK TO 65MPH WITHOUT THE VIBRATION ISSUE AND CONTINUED MY TRIP HOME. THE INTENSITY OF THESE VIBRATIONS IS VERY EXTREME AND THE VEHICLE IS ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLE WHEN THEY ARE HAPPENENING. THERE IS NO WAY TO AVOID OR ANTICIPATE THAT THEY WILL HAPPEN, AND THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO SLOW OR STOP THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY, WHICH IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DO IN A FREEWAY ENVIRONMENT WHEN THE STEERING IS BARELY WORKING. MY VEHICLE IS USING ORIGINAL, UNMODIFIED STOCK TIRES, WHEELS, AND SUSPENSION COMPONENTS AND IS OVF RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE (15,000MI).

MY WIFE AND I WERE HEADED TO COSTCO AND WERE DRIVING THROUGH WEST CHESTER OHIO. WE WENT OVER A SET OF RAILROAD TRACKS ON PRINCETON GLENDALE RD. JUST BEFORE PORT UNION RD. ONCE WE WENT OVER THE TRACKS THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK BEGAN TO JUMP AND SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. IT WAS VERY SCARY. WE HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE TRUCK WOBBLED SIDE TO SIDE FOR A GOOD DISTANCE AFTER WE WENT OVER THE TRACKS. THE WOBBLING WAS FELT EXTREMELY STRONG IN THE FRONT END AND CARRIED THROUGH THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. IT ONLY SUBSIDED AFTER SLOWING THE TRUCK DOWN BY LETTING OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND LETTING IT COAST TO ABOUT 25 MPH. THANK GOODNESS WE WEREN'T ON THE HIGHWAY OR WORSE YET, THAT WE WEREN'T TOWING ANYTHING. WE BOUGHT THIS TRUCK TO TOW A LARGE FIFTH WHEEL CAMPER. IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN WHILE TOWING THIS ON THE HIGHWAY WE WOULD PROBABLY LOSE CONTROL AND CRASH. THAT WOULD BE CATASTROPHIC TO SAY THE LEAST. I HAVE JUST UNDER 4,000 MILES ON MY NEW TRUCK AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE FIRST TIME WAS MINIMAL. SO MINIMAL THAT WE WROTE IT OFF AFTER IT HAPPENED. BUT, IT TOO HAPPENED AFTER GOING OVER A SET OF RAILROAD TRACKS ON A RURAL ROAD JUST OUTSIDE OF SEVEN MILE OHIO. IT WAS NOTHING LIKE WHAT HAPPENED THIS WEEKEND. SINCE THIS HAPPENED I TOOK IT UPON MYSELF TO LOOK TO THE INTERNET FOR MORE INFO. IT SEEMS THIS IS A NATIONAL PROBLEM WITH THE SUPER DUTY TRUCKS. THERE IS A PLETHORA OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS EXACT SAME THING. MY FEAR IS CONTACTING MY LOCAL SALES DEALERSHIP AND GETTING THE STANDARD JARGON. HAVING THE MECHANIC TAKE IT FOR A TEST DRIVE AND THEN CALL ME AFTER I DROP IT OFF TO THEM FOR THREE DAYS AND THEM TELL ME THAT NOTHING OCCURRED AND NOTHING APPEARS BROKEN. TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 50-55 MPH ON A CURVED 2 LANE HIGHWAY I HIT A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD. THIS CAUSED THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE WILDLY AND ALMOST CAUSED A COLLISION WITH THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET IT TO STOP SHAKING BY COMING TO AN ALMOST COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF A NARROW 2 LANE MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY. AS I WAS COMING TO A STOP I HAD VERY LITTLE CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE AND ACTUALLY CROSSED THE CENTER LINE AND WENT SEVERAL FEET INTO THE ONCOMING LANE.

WHEN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 75 MPH I HIT A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD WHILE CHANGING LANES. THE ENTIRE TRUCK BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKING SO VIOLENTLY THAT I HAD A DIFFICULT TIME CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE WHILE I RETURNED TO THE RIGHT LANE AND REDUCED SPEED. THE SHAKING STOPPED WHEN THE SPEED WAS REDUCED TO 30 MPH. TWENTY MINUTES LATER WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE I HIT AN EXPANSION JOINT AT 65 MPH AND THE VIOLENT SHAKING RETURNED. I REDUCED SPEED AND THE SHAKING STOPPED AT 30 MPH.

MY 2019 FORD F-350 HAS APPROXIMATELY 16,300 MILES ON IT. ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2019, I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH) WESTBOUND ON INTERSTATE 10 NEAR SAN ANTONIO, TX AROUND MILE MARKER 588 SHORTLY AFTER NOON. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE. I HIT A SMALL, BUT RELATIVELY DEEP POTHOLE IN MY LANE, WHICH CAUSED A JOLT TO THE VEHICLE. WHAT FOLLOWED NEXT IS DIFFICULT TO DESCRIBE AS I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE IT IN OVER 40 YEARS OF DRIVING. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE AND WOBBLE VIOLENTLY. I INITIALLY THOUGHT BOTH OF THE FRONT STEER TIRES HAD EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT SIMULTANEOUSLY AS THE SHAKING WAS OCCURRING ON BOTH FRONT TIRES AND THE FRONT SUSPENSION. THE VEHICLE WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO DECELERATE AND MOVE TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. AT SOME POINT DURING MY DECELERATION, PERHAPS AROUND 25 MPH, I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND THE SHAKING STOPPED. I EXITED AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT COULD SEE NO DAMAGE TO EITHER TIRE, NOR ANY INDICATION OF DAMAGE TO THE TIE RODS, SHOCKS OR OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION. I WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING AND LATER CONDUCTED A MORE THOROUGH INSPECTION, AGAIN FINDING NO APPARENT DAMAGE OR CAUSE FOR THE VIOLENT SHAKING AND WOBBLING I HAD EXPERIENCED. I AM TERRIFIED THAT THIS WILL OCCUR AGAIN. IN DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES, THIS COULD EASILY RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, WITH VERY BAD CONSEQUENCES. I OCCASIONALLY PULL FIFTH WHEEL AND GOOSE NECK TRAILERS WITH THIS VEHICLE, WHICH IS WHY I PURCHASED IT. IF THIS OCCURRED WHILE PULLING A LOAD, THE CONSEQUENCES COULD BE TERRIBLE.

MY NEW F350 WITH 6K MILES ON IT STARTS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY FOR NO REASON AT ALL ON SPEEDS OVER 60 MPH AND THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM IS TO SLOW DOWN TO ALMOST A STOP. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND SO WAS THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK.

I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE "FORD DEATH WOBBLE" THREE TIMES IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS. IT HAPPENS IN THE SAME PLACE ON MY COMMUTE WHERE I PASS OVER A BRIDGE JOINT ON THE FREEWAY. I AM USUALLY DOING BETWEEN 65-70 MPH. IT SHAKES THE VEHICLE SO BADLY THAT I HAVE TO CROSS THROUGH THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC TO PULL OVER AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. ONLY THEN WILL THE WOBBLE STOP. THE TRUCK HAS 27,000 MILES ON IT AND SHOULD NOT BE ACTING THIS WAY. I COULD MAYBE UNDERSTAND IF IT HAD 250,000 AND VERY WORN OUT STEERING COMPONENTS.

THE TRUCK SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN HITTING BUMPS ON HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS ABOVE 55 TO THE POINT IT WILL SHAKE THE WHEEL OUT OF YOUR HANDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED I CROSSED ON COMING TRAFFIC LANE AND SLOWED ON THE OPPOSITE SHOULDER BEFORE DEATH WOBBLE WENT AWAY. FORD OBVIOUSLY KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE AND REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPENER AT 20K MILES. THAT IS NOTHING MORE THAN A BAND AID, NOT A REPAIR. I REFUSE TO LET ANYONE DRIVE THIS TRUCK WHICH IS SAD BECAUSE IT IS BRAND NEW AND COST $75K. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH FORD ASAP!!!

EXPERIENCED A WOBBLE IN THE STEERING AFTER HITTING A SMALL BUMP IN THE PAVEMENT. IT WAS VIOLENT ENOUGH TO SEND ME INTO THE LEFT LANE.THIS TRUCK IS LESS THAN A YEAR OLD WITH ONLY 5500 MILES ON IT. SPEED WAS 65 MILES AN HOUR AND HAD TO QUICKLY REDUCE SPEED TO AVOID GOING INTO THE MEDIAN.

ON 10/19/2019 WHILE MY 2019 F-350 WAS IN MOTION TOWING A 36-FT 5TH WHEEL ON A TWO-LANE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH, I DROVE OVER A SERIES OF BUMPS IN MY LANE THAT CAUSED THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK TO SHUDDER VIOLENTLY. I HAD TO SLOW THE TRUCK TO APPROX. 30 MPH TO GET THE SHUDDERING TO STOP. I DID NOT LOSE CONTROL OF THE 5TH WHEEL. THE STEERING WHEEL SHUDDERED SO VIOLENTLY I COULD BARELY KEEP MY HANDS ON IT. ALL VEHICLE WEIGHTS WERE WELL WITHIN THE GVWR/GCWR OF BOTH THE TRAILER AND TRUCK. IRONICALLY ENOUGH I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WEIGHING THE TRUCK AND TRAILER AT A CAT SCALE WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED. FOUR DAYS LATER I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER ASSEMBLY IN ACCORDANCE WITH TSB 19-2274.

MY TRUCK STARTED A 'DEATH WOBBLE' AT 13K MILES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY KEPT IT FOR 29 DAYS. I WAS TOLD THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH AN ALIGNMENT. AFTER GETTING IT BACK THE TRUCK DID NOT DRIVE THAT WELL. STIFF STEERING. THE TRUCK FELT WEIRD AND SHOOK WHEN YOU HIT BUMPS. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE KEPT IT FOR ANOTHER WEEK. I WAS TOLD ANOTHER ALIGNMENT AND STEERING DAMPENER WAS REPLACED. AFTER GETTING IT BACK. THERE IS NO CHANGE. IT STILL DRIVES BAD. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED. JUST MASKED BY THE ALIGNMENT. I REPORTED IT TO FORD CORPORATE. THEY SAID THE TRUCK DIDN'T HAVE A PROBLEM. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING CONSIDERING HOW MUCH I PAID FOR IT.

JULY-2019 - WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY (DEATH WOBBLE) AFTER CROSSING A BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN GRADUALLY AND THE SHAKING STOPPED AROUND 40 MPH. HAD IT SERVICED AT A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS FIXED UNDER TSB 18-2268 WHERE THEY REPLACED THE STEERING WHEEL DAMPENER. SEP-2019 - DEATH WOBBLE OCCURRED AGAIN FOLLOWING JULY REPAIR ON HIGHWAY WHILE TOWING A 5TH WHEEL TRAILER. IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULED SERVICE AT A DIFFERENT LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS A NEW TSB THAT SUPERCEEDS THE PRIOR ONE. THEY REPLACED THE STEERING WHEEL DAMPENER AGAIN BUT WAS DISAPPOINTED TO HEAR THAT IT WAS STILL THE SAME OEM PART NUMBER USED FOR THE DAMPENER. OCT-2019 - DEATH WOBBLE OCCURED AT 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN A ROW THIS TIME CAUSING ME TO VEER INTO ANOTHER LANE. IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULE SERVICE APPOINTMENT AT A 3RD FORD DEALERSHIP. REPAIR CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS AT THE TIME I'M WRITING THIS SO NO OUTCOME YET. BEGAN A FORMAL INQUIRY WITH FORD ON POTENTIAL BUY-BACK OR REPLACEMENT.

1ST INCIDENT-DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE TRUCK STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING AFTER HITTING A SMALL RISE GOING OVER AN OVERPASS. EXTREMELY BLESSED THAT I WAS IN AN EXPRESS LANE (TOLLED) AND NO ONE WAS AROUND ME. 16FT TRAILER WAS HOOKED UP AND IT TOOK EVERY BIT OF STRENGTH I HAD TO KEEP THE TRUCK IN THE 2 LANES AND NOT THE WALL. THANKFUL NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE AROUND ME. 2ND INCIDENT- AGAIN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE NEXT DAY; A VERY SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD CAUSED THE VIOLENT SHAKING. I WAS NOT TOWING, BUT I DID HAVE VEHICLES AROUND ME THIS TIME THAT THANKFULLY WERE PAYING ATTENTION AS I WAS IN AND OUT OF THE FAST AND MIDDLE LANE. THE EXPERIENCE IS INDESCRIBABLE AND FRIGHTENING.

I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED 65 MPH DOWN THE LHIGHWAY MWITH MY SON IN THE TRUCK WITH ME. MY TRUCK BED WAS EMPTY. I RAN OVER SEVERAL SMALL POT HOLES OR BUMPS IN THE ROAD AND MY TRUCK STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING AND GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND I ADVANCED DOWN THE INTERSTATE. I HELD ON TO THE WHEEL AS HARD AS I COULD AND TRIED TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE TRUCK AND NOT LOSE COMPLETE CONTROL. THE VIOLENT SHAKING ONLY GOT WORSE UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE DOWN TO BELOW 20 MILES AN HOUR. SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES WERE HONKING AND POINTING AT THE FRONT END OF MY TRUCK. THIS DEATH WOBBLE WHICH I AM HEARING BEING REFFERED TO IS STARTING TO HAPPEN WITH MORE FREQUENCY. I AM TERRIFIED OF LETTING ANY OF MY FAMILIY DRIVE MY NEW $85,000 FORD F 350 KING RANCH. I AM TAKING IT TO A FORD SERVICE THIS WEEK TO GET FIXEDL. THE MORE I RESEARCH THE "DEATH WOBBLE" THE MORE I AM FINDING OUT THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF NEW FORD TRUCK OWNERS JUST LIKE ME THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THIS VERY DANGEROUS AND HORRIFYING PROBLEM. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT FORD HAS NOT RECALLED THIS TRUCK YET TO FIX THIS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. IT WOUD NOT BE SUPRISED TO FIND OUT THAT THIS NEGLECT BY FORD HASN'T RESULTED IN DEATH ALREADY. THIS DEATH WOBBLE HAS OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND WHILE DRIVING IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS GOING 45 MPH.
