Upon acceleration from a stop the transmission seriously shutters and stalls the vehicles engine seriously putting the occupants life and safety at risk as well as others. I also noticed that the vehicle shutters badly at speeds 3mph through 25mph bucking and stalling the engine all the way through making driving the vehicle a real danger and threat to the safety of others on the road. This is a serious and dangerous situation I’ve been placed in and by this vehicle being my only source of transportation endangers my life and safety and the safety of others on the road due to the stalling and hesitation upon entering traffic it’s deadly. Weather conditions also contribute to the life threatening dangers while traveling. Vehicle has not been inspected by a certified technician due to to my extended hours of required employment with no other source of transportation yet I am more than willing to get a free inspection by a Ford Facility. Yes there is a yellow check engine light on the dashboard that was never present up until the shuttering and stalling started 3 to 4 months ago. Please update me with any solutions you may have ASAP to address this urgent and faulty issue, this is of great importance and safety concern. It has been brought to my attention that a article dated July 18, 2019 in the Detroit Free Press states “Ford is aware of this problem yet still put the vehicle into production and sent a memo to its dealers advising them to address the issue and customers concerns and repair the Known Problem free of charge. Please reach out and instruct me with this Known Ford Problem so that we can resolve this ASAP.

My 2011 Ford Fiesta shudders, has sudden or Delayed Acceleration,delays in downshift, difficulty stopping/braking,it hesitates when changing gears.also has harsh engagement.I purchased from a private owner in 2021. I have contacted Ford Motor Company Headquarters. I have taken it to my local Ford Dealership,told them what it does, they would not drive it so they could see what it does and how dangerous it can be at times. All they said was "oh it's the TCM and we got them back ordered for 6 mths" But if I want to pay for and order the part and just leave my car setting at the Ford Dealership until the part comes in I can do that. Then pay God only knows how much for them to put the part on. This is the only vehicle I have right now. I told them that. They said "oh we can't give ya no loaner car for that long. And the longer you drive it like that the more it's gonna tear up other parts of your car. And The Ford Motor Company said Oh you missed the deadline for the buy back program or any compensation for your carI Ford has failed to meet the standards required by The Federal Motor Safety Commission and yhey refuse to acknowledge me or help me in any way. All the other 2011 Ford Fiesta cars with the Dual Shift Clutch Transmission were fixed or bought back or the owners were compensated. I am in the same unsafe predicament as those consumers were. I'm not asking for a brand new vehicle Or thousands of dollars. I just want my car fixed and something to drive to work and to the grocery store while they fix it. Or another car of equal value to what my car is supposed to be. Thank you in advance for anything you can help me with.

I HAVE HAD THE TCM ON THIS VEHICLE REPLACED TWICE AFTER TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON. IT CAME ON A THIRD TIME AND THE ISSUE STILL CAUSES TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION INDICATOR TO ILLUMINATE, HOWEVER THIS TIME IT IS MY DUAL CLUTCH. SAME SYMPTOMS IN THE VEHICLE EVERY TIME. WITH NO WARNING, THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY LOSE POWER, FAIL TO CHANGE GEARS, SHUTTER FORWARD AFTER STOPPING, COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. TWO DAYS AGO DRIVING UPHILL, MY VEHICLE, WITH NO WARNING AT ALL, STARTED GOING IN REVERSE, DOWN THE HILL. I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF A CLASS ACTION SUIT WITH FORD THAT IS TAKING FOREVER TO SETTLE. I HAVE TRIED TO GET FORD TO REPLACE MY CLUTCH, BUT THEY CLAIM IT IS NOT PART OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY LIKE THE TCM IS NOW, EVEN THOUGH IT CAUSES THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. I CAN PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED MYSELF, BUT IT CAN GO OUT AT ANY GIVEN TIME AGAIN, WITH NO WARNING. FORD DOES NOT BELIEVE THESE ISSUES ARE SAFETY ISSUES. THEY ARE. THESE CARS DO THESE THINGS SUDDENLY. AS I AM REACHING OUT TO FORD ABOUT THIS, THEY DO HOWEVER INFORM ME THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON MY DOOR LATCHES. THEY CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT NOT THE TRANSMISSION? UNBELIEVABLE.

I WAS HEADING OUT IN REVERSE THE CAR FELT SLOW WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS IT TOOK A WHILE TO ACCELERATE. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP THE WHEEL FELT STIFF AND SHAKY. I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL TO TURN, BUT IT WOULDN'T GO. IT FELT LIKE THE GAS WAS SUFFOCATING IT WASN'T MOVING AND THE WHEEL FELT STIFF AND HARD TO TURN IT TOOK A AWHILE TO MOVE. I GOT SCARED AND DROVE BACK HOME. I TOOK IT TO FORD LEFT IT THERE TO GET CHECKED. I ASKED ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THE LIGHT HAD TURNED ON. I WAS TOLD THEY RESET THE MODULE AND THAT THEY SENT ME AN ESTIMATE TO MY EMAIL IF I WANTED TO DO THE REPAIRS THAT THEY RECOMMENDED. I ASKED IF IT WAS OK TO DRIVE THE CAR THEY SAID YES, THAT I WOULD FEEL IT SHUDDER, BUT THAT IT WAS OK TO GO. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT TO WORK, BUT IT STILL TAKES A WHILE WHEN I PRESS THE GAS.

WHEN I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE NEW I HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS TO JOE COTTON FORD IN CAROL STREAM, IL THERE WAS NO REMEDY BESIDES REMOVING THE CABLES FROM THE BATTERY TO RESET THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER. ON SEPTEMBER OF THIS YEAR I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD MOTOR CO. TO ADVISE THAT THEY NEED TO DO A SOFTWARE UPDATE DUE TO A TCM CIRCUIT FAILURE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO FRIENDLY FORD 333 E IRVING PARK, ROSELLE, IL, ON MONDAY NOVEMBER 11, 2019, SO THEY CAN RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. PRIOR TO TAKING MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP I REMOVED THE BATTERY CABLES. APPARENTLY THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO INSTALL THE NEW SOFTWARE. THE SERVICE ADVISOR ADVISED ME THAT THE CARD CODE READER WAS NOT ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE ERROR MESSAGE AND THEY HAD TO CHARGE ME. MY VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND THEY LOANED ME A CAR WHILE IT WAS IN SERVICE. I WAS CHARGED $199.00 FOR THEM TO LOOK AT THE PROBLEM AND SINCE THEY COULD NOT UPDATE THE SOFTWARE I HAD TO PAY THE BILL. I CALLED FORD MOTOR CO. FOR ASSISTANCE AND THE AGENT TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS LITTLE THEY CAN DO SINCE THE DEALERSHIP IS A FRANCHISE. THIS IS UNJUST THAT I WAS CHARGED FOR SOMETHING I WAS ADVISED THAT WOULD BE FREE OF CHARGE. I HOPE TO BE REIMBURSED.

THE FIRST TIME WAS BY HUNTERSVILLE FORD IN HUNTERSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA IN AUGUST OF 2015. THE SECOND TIME WAS BY SALISBURY FORD IN SALISBURY, NORTH CAROLINA IN AUGUST OF 2016. RECENTLY, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START (AMONG OTHER CONTINUING PROBLEMS WITH SHAKING WHILE BRAKING, JERKING WHEN SHIFTING GEARS--BOTH OF WHICH WE'VE ALREADY HAD WORKED ON SEVERAL TIMES) SO WE HAD IT TAKEN TO A FORD DEALER NEAR WHERE WE LIVE. WE FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. IT TURNS OUT THAT FORD HAS A CSP FOR THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER, WE DID NOT KNOW ABOUT IT AND BY THE TIME WE STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS, WE WERE PAST THE MILEAGE FOR THE WARRANTY COVERAGE. I AM EXTREMELY DISPLEASED WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WE HAVE RECEIVED. I BELIEVE IT IS BIAS AND DISCRIMINATORY TO REPAIR PROBLEMS YOU KNOW ABOUT ONLY IF THEY ARE ON VEHICLES WITH MILEAGE UNDER 150,000. IF THERE IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. IVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AROUND 4 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE FOURTH BEING THE WORST. THE CAR WILL SHUDDER, SHAKE, OVER REV, LOW POWER WHEN TAKING OFF AND LACK OF POWERSTEERING AND BRAKES. ITS HAD ITS TCM REPROGRAMMED TO NO AVAIL! CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED TO NO AVAIL. THIRD TIME IT STARED AGAIN AND HAD TO GET THE CAR REPROGRAMMED AGAIN. THE LAST TIME THE CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE OVER 30 MPH WITHOUT SHAKING SHUDDERING AND TRYING TO FIND THE RIGHT GEAR. COUPLE OF TIMES THE CAR STOPPED WHILE DRIVING!! DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TCM .ON ABOUT THE FOURTH TIME IN. MY WIFE DRIVES OUR KIDS TO SCHOOL IN THIS CAR AND I HAVE NOT CONFIDENCE IN ITS ABILITY TO SUSTAIN AND DELIVER MY FAMILY SAFELY TO THEIR DESTINATATION. IM CURRENTLY MAKING PAYMENTS AND HAVE ALSO TRIED TO TALK TO FORD ABOUT A BUY BACK OR REPLACEMENT AND THEY SAID I DON'T MEET OR QUALIFY FOR THE CALIFORNIA LEMON LAW. THEY HAD PULLED MY RECORDS AT THE DEALERSHIP TO VERIFY THE CAR STATUS. ALL ACTIONS THAT THE CAR DISPLAYED AND OTHERS HAVE ENCOUNTERED HAVE HAPPENED WHEN PULLING AWAY TO ACCELERATE. THIS 2011 FIESTA WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS PURCHASED NEW AND HAD THE SLUGGISH FEELING EARLY ON. DEALER SAID IT WAS A "SMART ENGINE" AND WOULD HAVE TO LEARN DRIVER'S DRIVING HABITS. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AND GOT CONSIDERABLY WORSE AROUND 9K MILES....TOOK IT IN, FAILED TRANSMISSIONS TEST...NEW CLUTCH PUT IT. THOUGHT IT WAS FINE UNTIL IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING...FAILED TEST...NO PARTS AVAILABLE- HAD TO WAIT ON PARTS. THIS IS ABOUT THE 5TH OR 6TH TIME GOING THROUGH THIS PROCESS, EXCEPT THAT NOW THE PROBLEM IS THE MOST SEVERE IT'S EVER BEEN (EVEN WITH THE A NEW CLUTCH PUT IN LAST WEEK AND BEING TOLD IT WAS "FIXED'). CAR WON'T START AT TIMES, THEN WHEN IT DOES, IT DRIVES VERY SLUGGISH - OR WON'T COME OUT OF LOW GEAR (REVS VERY HIGH)....OF IF YOU GET IT INTO HIGHER GEAR, IT WILL SUDDENLY SLIP OUT OF IT BACK DOWN TO LOW - VERY HIGH RPMS AND VERY LOUD. IT IS HARD TO ACCELARATE AND KNOW THAT IT'S GOING TO GO - THIS IS ESPECIALLY TROUBLING AT AN INTERSECTION MAKING A LEFT TURN, ON THE HIGHWAY WITH HIGHER SPEED TRAFFIC ETC. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH TRANSMISSION ISSUES SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS DOING 50 MPH AND IT SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR. THIS WAS QUITE DISTURBING. I TOOK IT IN TO FORD AND THEY TOLD ME IT JUST NEEDED THE PROGRAM UPDATED. THEN DURING THE WINTER IT WOULDN'T GO INTO GEAR AT ALL, NOT FORWARD, REVERSE OR ANYTHING. ONCE AGAIN I TOOK IT IN AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE PROGRAMMING. THEY PROGRAMED IT AGAIN. SO BACK IN FEB IT HAPPENED AGAIN, AND I DID THEN RECEIVE A LETTER STATING THERE WAS SOME ISSUES, SO I WAS GIVEN A 100,000 MILE WARRANTY ON FIXING THE ISSUE. WELL I TOLD THEM TO REPLACE THE TCM, BUT ONCE AGAIN THEY LOVE TO REPROGRAM. SO MY OLDEST SON IS IN NEED OF A VEHICLE AND HE WAS DRIVING IT UP IN MADISON WISCONSIN ON THE MOST CRAZY FREEWAY AND IT DECIDED TO LOSE THE POWER DOING MORE THAN 50 MPH. MY SON WAS SO STRESSED AND WAS ALMOST HIT BY A SEMI. I HAVE HAD IT WITH THE REPROGRAMMING. I HAVE EMAILS AND CALLS PUT INTO FORD AND I AM NOT ASKING FOR ANYTHING BUT A FIX OR TO TRADE IN AND START OVER. THEY DON'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING FOR US AT ALL. MY 2011 FORD FIESTA BEGAN GIVING ME PROBLEMS AT ABOUT 28,000 MILES. IT IS NOW 35,000 MILES AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS ACCELERATING OUT OF A STOP. IT WILL JERK, REV AND SHUDDER GETTING UP TO 30 MPH. I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF A FEW RECALLS AND I HAVE NOTICED A 5 MILE DROP IN THE MPG. I TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY CAR, I HAVE THE OIL CHANGED REGULARLY AND I OFTEN TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC TO ENSURE IT IS IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I AM DRIVING THE FIESTA FOR A WHILE IN A CITY SETTING SO I HAVE TO START AND STOP QUITE A BIT. ADDITIONALLY, THERE HAS BEEN A CONSISTENT CLUNKING NOISE WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL AT LOW SPEEDS. HAVE BROUGHT IT IN A FEW TIMES AND NO ONE HAS EVEN ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT.

SINCE JUNE OF 2011 TO JANUARY 2016 I HAVE HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED 8 OR 9 TIMES WITH THE POWER TRAIN MODULE BEING REPROGRAMMED. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. NOW JAN. 18TH 2016 THE CAR IS EXPERIENCING A TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION. IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE OVER 10 MILES AN HOUR. RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNDRIVABLE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS OVER THE LAST WINTER I TURNED LEFT FROM MY DRIVEWAY. AS I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE BRIEFLY SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. THE VEHICLE IS CONTROLLED BY AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, BUT SLIPPED FROM GEAR, LEAVING ME IN THE ROAD, UNABLE TO MOVE FORWARD. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. MY TRANSMISSION HAS ALSO FAILED SEVERAL TIMES AT RED LIGHTS. I WILL STEP ON THE GAS, AND THERE ARE SEVERAL SECONDS OF HESITATION, WHERE MY VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE. THEN IT LURCHES FORWARD. FORD HAS SENT A LETTER EXPLAINING THERE HAVE BEEN DEFECTS WITH THE TRANSMISSION, BUT I HAVE CALLED 3 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS, AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS IT OCCURS DURING A TEST DRIVE BY THEIR TECHNICIANS. IF THE PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR DURING THEIR TEST DRIVE THEY WILL CHARGE ME OVER $100 FOR THE DIAGNOSIS. THIS DEFECT IS KNOWN TO FORD, YET THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS CONSISTENT ENOUGH THAT I CAN BRING IT IN, KNOWING THE PROBLEM WILL OCCUR ON THAT PARTICULAR TEST DRIVE. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO GET MY VEHICLE OUT OF THE ROAD, DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM HAS ALSO CAUSED OTHER ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND OR THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN QUESTIONED MANY TIMES REGARDING THE ISSUE. MOST RECENTLY THERE WAS A NOTICE FOR A REPROGRAMMING OF THE TRANSMISSION, THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE DEALERS STILL INSIST THAT THE BEHAVIOR IS NORMAL. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON ON AUGUST 21, 2014 WHEN MY CAR SEEMED TO LOSE THROTTLE. I HAD NOTICED IT WAS SLUGGISH TO PICK UP SPEED AROUND 5 MILES BEFORE. IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE CAR LOST THROTTLE, AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AN AUDIBLE ALERT WAS MADE, AND THEN MOST OF THE SERVICE LIGHTS CAME ON. SO FAR THE REPAIRS HAVE INCLUDED AN IGNITION COIL PACK, SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES, REPLACING TWO BOLTS AND REPROGRAMMING, AND REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF OVER $2,000. *TR

THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH AND REPROGRAMMED MY CAR OVER FOUR TIMES? I HAVE DONE A LITTLE RESEARCH AND FOUND THIS WEBSITES AFTER WEBSITE WITH PEOPLE WITH OTHER COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO MINE. I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT. IT TOOK A WEEK FOR SOMEONE TO CALL BE BACK AND I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS FINE. I TRIED TO CALL BACK, BUT YOU ONLY GET TO THE CALL CENTER AND NO FURTHER. I WAS REFUSED TO BE TRANSFERRED TO A MANAGER AND WAS TOLD THAT WAS THAT?S THE WAY THE CAR WAS DESIGNED TO DRIVE. I WAS OFFERED A DISCOUNT THE X PLAN TO TRADE IN MY CAR FOR ANOTHER BUT THAT WOULD NOT HELP. WHEN DEALING WITH THE DEALERSHIP THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID I AM SORRY I CAN'T HELP YOU ANYMORE. I HAD JUST STARTED ACCELERATING AFTER STOPPING AT A STREET LIGHT. MY CAR BEGAN SHIFTING BACK AND FORTH AS I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR. I NOTICED MY ENGINE WAS RUNNING BUT MY CAR WASN'T MOVING. IT SEEMED AS THOUGH THE POWER WAS THERE BUT IT WASN'T GOING TO THE WHEELS. MY CAR WAS STRUGGLING TO DO WHAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DO. MY CAR JUMPED AND SHIFTED BACK AND FORTH TRYING TO MOVE. VEHICLE DID NOT IMPROVE, ACTUALLY WORSENED TO A POINT THAT STALLS UPON DECELERATION. TOOK BACK TO DEALERSHIP, DIAGNOSED THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED AFTER HAVING CAR FOR LESS THAN 6 MONTHS. TOWED TO DEALER FOR WARRANTY WORK AND THE SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. YESTERDAY, WAS TRAVELING AND, AS BEFORE, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL (GEAR INDICATOR ON DASHBOARD LOOKED LIKE A SLOT MACHINE) AND WHEN I COASTED TO A STOP (MORE THAN ONCE ON A TWO LANE ROAD WITH NO EMERGENCY LANE), IT WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. AFTER TURNING ENGINE OFF, IT THEN HAD TROUBLE STARTING, AND WHEN IT DID RE-ENGAGE INTO GEAR, IT WOULD RANDOMLY GO OUT OF GEAR AND WE "LIMPED" HOME GOING LESS THAN 25 MILES AN HOUR HAVING TO STOP A HALF DOZEN TIMES HOPING THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION WOULD RE-ENGAGE LONG ENOUGH FOR US TO GET HOME. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE IT WOULD DISENGAGE AT ANY RATE OF SPEED AND WOULD NOT GO BACK INTO GEAR EVEN ONCE I STOPPED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. IN THE RURAL AREA WHERE WE RESIDE, THERE WAS MORE THAN ONE TIME WHEN IT DISENGAGED, WOULD NOT GO BACK INTO GEAR, ON A CURVE OF A TWO-LANE ROAD WITH NO EMERGENCY LANE. I HAVE LEARNED THAT THE FIESTA HAS HAD THESE PROBLEMS SINCE 2011 WHEN MY PROBLEMS FIRST BEGAN. IT IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT APPEARS TO BE SYSTEMIC TO THE VEHICLE IN MANY CASES. THE ENGINE STALLED THE FIRST TIME TWO DAYS AGO ON 9/27/2013. THE CAR SHUT OFF ON THE ROAD AND I HAD TO RESTART THE CAR. ALSO IT SHAKES WHEN YOU PRESS THE ACCELERATOR AND THIS HAS ALWAYS HAPPENED. YESTERDAY WHILE I WAS GOING OVER A BRIDGE THE CAR STALLED SO BAD THAT IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL TO GO OVER THE BRIDGE, THE RPM GAUGE WIGGLED VERY BAD BACK AND FORTH AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SLIDE BACK DOWN THE BRIDGE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO FORD AND THEY CLAIM THIS IS HOW THE CAR IS SUPPOSED TO ACT. I LIVE IN JACKSONVILLE, FL AND BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE WHEN GETTING ON AND OFF RAMPS ONTO THE INTERSTATE IS CRUCIAL WHEN MERGING WITH TRAFFIC BUT IF THE CAR STALLS AND DOES NOT ACTUALLY MOVE AND YOU ARE TRYING TO YIELD AND MERGE WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC, ANYONE CAN SEE THAT THIS IS A POTENTIAL HAZARD AND VERY DANGEROUS. THIS IS A 2011 FORD FIESTA WAS ON THE FREEWAY WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE TO CHANGE LANES AND EXIT THE FREEWAY, THE CAR LOST POWER AND IT LITERALLY FELT LIKE THE BRAKES WERE IN USE. SINCE (I ASSUME) THE BRAKE LIGHTS DID NOT GO ON, I NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH A TRUCK THAT WAS BEHIND ME. I WAS FORTUNATE AND TRAFFIC THE TRAFFIC PATTERN ALLOWED ME TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE NEVER SHUT DOWN, AND WHILE SITTING ON THE BERM AND IDLING, THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN RESPONDED PROPERLY. I PUSHED THE CRUISE CONTROL OFF BUTTON AND PROCEEDED WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEM, BUT HAVE NOT USED THE CRUISE CONTROL SINCE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE TO KLABAN FORD SERVICE IN KENT OHIO THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT. IT IS STILL IN THE SHOP ON MAY 22 AND I DO NOT YET KNOW THE RESULT. ALL THREE OCCURRENCES REQUIRING MY CAR TO BE TAKEN TO A SHOP FOR REPAIRS INVOLVED THE VEHICLE MOVING AT HI-WAY SPEEDS. WHILE TRAVELLING AT 65MPH, THE CRUISE CONTROL CUT OUT AND ENGINE DIED, SO I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. EVENTUALLY IT RESTARTED AND I GOT HOME. THE ISSUE WAS ELECTRONIC IN NATURE ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR, AND TOOK IT FOR SERVICE. THE PART WAS NOT IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE AND WHEN ASKED, THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL THE PART CAME IN. THE REPAIR WAS MADE UNDER WARRANTY. THE SECOND PROBLEM WAS VERY SIMILAR TO THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS A DIFFERENT PROBLEM, BUT WAS NONETHELESS ELECTRONIC IN NATURE. THE REPAIR WAS MADE UNDER WARRANTY. THE THIRD AND MOST RECENT ISSUE INVOLVES THE TRANSMISSION. ON MY DAILY COMMUTE, CRUISE SET AT 65MPH, THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED. THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE DRIVETRAIN. WHEN I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER, NO GEAR COULD BE ACHIEVED. WHEN SHUT OFF, THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER ABOUT TEN MINUTES, AFTER MANY CLUNKING AND CLICKING NOISES HAD OCCURRED UNDER THE HOOD, THE CAR STARTED AND I CONTINUED. IT HAPPENED AGAIN...AND AGAIN. THIS OCCURRED FIVE TIMES IN 30 MILES, AND FINALLY THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. THIS WAS ABOUT FIVE MILES FROM HOME AND MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE CAR IS TWO YEARS OLD WITH 85,000 MILES. ALL MILES ARE HI-WAY MILES. ALL ROUTINE MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN PERFORMED WITH RECEIPTS. THIS VEHICLE IS A SAFETY HAZARD, FOR INTERMITTENT, TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AND CONTROL ON THE HI-WAY, AS WELL AS LEAVING THE OCCUPANTS STRANDED AT RISK, ON THE SHOULDER OF SAID HI-WAY. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND HAVE TAKEN IT TO TWO SEPARATE DEALERSHIPS TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE AND IT CONTINUES. INITIALLY, THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR BEGAN HAVING TROUBLE SHIFTING. AFTER THE FIRST REPAIR, THE CAR BEGAN SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY. THE SECOND REPAIR CORRECTED THE SHAKING, BUT NOW (AT 15,755 MILES) THE CAR WILL (1) MAKE GRINDING METALLIC NOISES WHEN SHIFTING, (2) FAIL TO SHIFT ON ANY INCLINE (INSTEAD IT REVS TO APPROXIMATELY 2500 RPMS AND "STICKS" THERE), (3) JOLT FORWARD WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED AS IF THE ACCELERATOR WAS PRESSED DOWN, AND (4) ROLL BACKWARDS ON HILLS AS IF IT IS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I UNDERSTAND THAT (4) CAN BE COMMON AMONG NEWER AUTOMATICS THAT ATTEMPT HIGHER FUEL ECONOMY. HOWEVER, NUMEROUS TIMES THE SPEED AT WHICH THE CAR ROLLS BACK HAS INCURRED A SAFETY RISK. THE CAR IS AT THE DEALER FOR THE THIRD TIME SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE MONTH. WHILE DRIVING, ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN "DRIVE" ANYMORE, AND I HAVE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURN OFF CAR, AND RESTART. IT IS AS IF THE TRANSMISSION JUST GOES OUT. THIS CAN HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIMES IN ONE DRIVING SESSION AND HAS HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY, ON SIDE STREETS, BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, ETC. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON REPEATEDLY EACH TIME. CAR ALSO LURCHES AND SOUNDS AS IF IT MIGHT STALL AT RANDOM TIMES WHEN ACCELERATING. EACH TIME, THE DEALER TEST DRIVES AFTER THE "FIX" HAVE BEEN FROM 0 MILES TO 6 MILES, IT DOES NOT SEEM LIKE THIS TEST DRIVE IS LONG ENOUGH TO SEE THE ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,281.
