The transmission control module (TCM) on my 2015 Ford Fiesta was failing at 81,000 miles. It was difficult to accelerate the car even at low speeds (25-30 mph) and my check engine light was on. I took my vehicle to the nearest Ford Dealership (Big Star Ford in Manvel, TX) who assessed my vehicle and determined the TCM needed to be replaced. They replaced the part but told me it was not under the 14M02 warranty. My check engine light did come on once back in May and the car was struggling to speed up but when I took it to a car shop the check engine light was not on and the mechanic said it was fine.
Clutch and actuators diagnosed as needing to be replaced. This was a recall / campaign from ford . I did not own the vehicle when recall was sent out in 2019. The new clutch has not been installed and now needs to be . Also, Very low mileage on this vehicle . Ford should stand by its product and replace the recall free of charge .

I’ve owned my 2015 Ford Fiesta for about 7 years now. Within the first year, I contacted the Ford dealership explaining noises when driving and my dual clutch shifting gears. I sent them video sound recordings. They said it was typical of this transmission. The car has never felt smooth but “ok enough,” until 18months ago when I reported gears slipping. No error codes were detected but parts of my clutch were replaced. Now, 16,000 miles later I brought my car into ford dealership saying I felt the gears slipping. They diagnosed a few other maintenance pieces like brakes and tires but said nothing was detected with the transmission and clutch. 3 weeks later, I was driving on a highway - lake shore drive in chicago, and my check engine light came on. My car would not change gears or accelerate past the 30mph I had been going. I felt like I was in neutral. I exited, fearing an accident. In stop and go traffic I used my hazard lights because I could not accelerate at each stop sign. I made it to a safe spot to pull over and then realized i could not reverse! I had my car towed to the ford dealer from 3 weeks prior. At this point they could read a few clutch error codes but cannot be certain of the actual cause. In order to do so, they need my consent of a possible $1500 service charge for investigating the issue. Ford costumer service line has said “oh wow, we’re glad your weren’t in an accident. I’m Sorry, your car does not meet criteria for any support from Ford.” Ford has knowingly kept these faulty transmissions on the road and now they are telling me that they will not help look into my vehicle’s transmission and safety issues. This seems unreasonable when the issue is clearly linked to the faulty dual clutch Powershift system. 1.5 million Ford Fiestas may still be registered and driven with Ford offering nothing other than “I’m really glad you dodged an accident and made it off the highway.”

Ford Fiestas such as my vehicle as well as Ford Focus have been shown to have transmission issues and Ford has failed to perform a widespread recall. I bought my vehicle a year and a half ago from a Ford dealership and it has less than 75,000 miles and now has a transmission issue(transmission clutch shudder diagnosed by Ford dealership) that could cause the vehicle to suddenly stop moving or slip gears. No warning lights have come on. While researching this issue I found that a previous lawsuit regarding the failed part on my car did not include my vehicle and many others that have the same issue.

Someone could be killed when the transmission suddenly stops working like that in freeway traffic.

I had the car checked by a local mechanic who advised me to contact Ford customer service since this has been a big issue with the Ford Fiestas. Customer service advised me to take the car to a dealership for testing, there they recommended that I have the entire transmission replaced but said it wouldn't fall under the warranty since it's the clutch that needs replaced. There are numerous customer satisfaction programs for the Ford Fiesta clutch and transmission (Campaign #s 16M02, 19N07, 19N08, & 14M02) but none of them include the VIN number on my vehicle.

TCM has now faulted twice on my Ford Fiesta. My Fiesta was built 7/9/2015. My TCM was replaced under standard power train warranty in 10/2019 at 47,000 miles. 02/2023 my TCM has faulted again at 68,500 miles and needs to be replaced. Ford extended its warranty on TCMs for their Fiesta models to 10 years 150,000 miles for fiestas built between 11/3/2009 and 6/30/2015. My car is out of the extended warranty build date parameters by 9 days, however now already needing 2 TCM replacements it is apparent my car does have defects and should be covered.
I spent $2400 on this car to have the dual clutch is replaced in the transmission it was supposed to be under warranty. The dealership charged me for it. The transmission on this car gets stuck causes it to go in reverse and blocks it heats up and is undrivable. It has been parked on the side of my house for one year now I have been in a rental car which Ford told me to get and they would refund me back up to $45 a day. I am out $8000 in rental fees. They claim that the transmission control module is recalled for this car.

Received extended warranty notice in September, 2019. Vehicle is still under 100,000 miles and was purchased in 2018. DPS6 module failed and caused break to lock up and all accessories in vehicle to stop performing. Had to get work done and ford required me to pay for replacement and labor of defective part. Clutch seems to not shift properly and causes a shuddering in the transmission. I have difficulty accelerating after coming to a complete stop (such as at a light). Reported these issues to dealership I had purchased vehicle from in 2018, shortly after purchase. Everyone continued to tell me there was no defect with the transmission or the clutch. I went to a few different ford dealers to inquire about the extended warranty notice on the powershift transmission: “Ford Motor Company's commitment is not only to manufacture high-quality, reliable products, but to also achieve full customer satisfaction. To demonstrate this commitment, we offer you the Customer Satisfaction Program at no cost for your vehicle with the VIN above. For your peace of mind, Ford Motor Company will extend the coverage of the clutch warranty. This program increases clutch warranty coverage to a total 7 years or 100,000 miles from the warranty start date, whichever be fulfilled first. NOTE: Your vehicle may have a vibration or intermittent jerk in the transmission clutch when accelerating smoothly after being stopped, during shift events.” (Ford Motor Company). According to a number of Ford employees, none of these defects are covered by Ford Motor Vehicle Company. Also, there were no DPS6 Modules available; the part was out of stock for 6 months. Service tech recommended I order part online; even provided name on shipment information; confirming he authorized and accepted the use of non-ford part. Didn’t know I was even allowed to use the aftermarket part. Requested OEM. Ended up paying for the shipping, total price of the part, and labor costs.

When accelerating, there is a shuddering sensation as you can feel the clutches slipping. The shifting is also sluggish at times. When in "sport mode" an error state can occur where the transmission fails to shift gears altogether and a warning comes up on the dashboard to service the transmission immediately. While that error is up, the shuddering becomes much worse and the engine will try to lurch forward at random times when it chooses the wrong gear. This lurching will fight the brakes too, decreasing stopping distance if the driver isn't extra diligent. This error state is cleared by stopping and starting the car again. There are no other visible dashboard warnings associated with this issue in daily driving. I took it to a local service center to be diagnosed and they determined it was either a worn clutch or a faulty TCM in need of a replacement. I took it to the Ford dealership in the area, and they narrowed it down to the clutch and not the TCM. Ford issued an extended warranty for this issue on other 2015 Ford Fiestas, but mine fell just outside the required build date despite having identical symptoms as what the warranty was for on the other cars. The car is only 7 years old with 92k miles on it, so if it was part of the aforementioned extended warranty (7 years or 100k miles) it would qualify, but not for much longer. This seems to be a known issue that Ford never fixed despite the car being outside the extended warranty cutoff.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD GOING TO THE HOSPITAL IT STARTED CUTTING OUT AND WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS AND WOULD NOT GO. sO WE CALLED THE ROADSIDE SERVICE & HAD TO HAVED IT TOWED TO THE SHOP. NOW 3 WEEKS LATER IT IS COVERED BY A RECALL AND EXTENDED COVERAGE BUT IT MAY TAKE UP TO A YEAR TO GET THE PARTS, AND WE NEED A CAR. This is supposed to be due to a problem with these particular model of Ford. Well then they should at least provide us with a car until this one is fixed.

ON APRIL 11, 2021, THE 2015 FORD FIESTA I WAS DRIVING UNINTENTIONALLY ACCELERATED INTO A COMMERCIAL BUILDING AT A SHOPPING MALL. THE CAR HAD TWO INCIDENTS OF ACCELERATING WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PRIOR TO THE FINAL INCIDENT WHERE THE CAR RAN INTO A WALL AND WAS TOTALED. THE CAR HAD NEVER EXHIBITED ANY BRAKING OR ACCELERATION ISSUES BEFORE THIS DAY. THE FIRST INCIDENT, I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO GO OVER A SPEED BUMP. AS I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKE, THE CAR JERKED FORWARD THEN STOPPED. IT DROVE AS NORMAL THROUGH TRAFFIC FOR THE NEXT 8 MILES. AS I APPLIED THE BRAKE, THE CAR SPED UP, JUMPED THE CURB AND ACCELERATED INTO THE SIDE OF A BUILDING. ACCORDING TO A WITNESS AND SUPPORTED BY PATTERN OF SKID MARKS, AT ONE POINT THE CAR WAS AIRBORNE. WITH THE DISTANCE OF ABOUT 15 FEET BETWEEN THE CURB AND WALL, THERE WAS LITTLE TIME TO REACT. IN MY ATTEMPT TO PULL THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, I INJURED MY THUMB. MY PASSENGER SUSTAINED VARIOUS BRUISES FROM THE SEAT BELT AND THE FRONT DASHBOARD. NEITHER THE DRIVER NOR PASSENGER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. ACCORDING TO THE BLACK BOX REPORT, THE CAR ACCELERATED FROM 0-100% IN THE FINAL 5 SECONDS AND THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED AT 10%-55%, YET THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I DID NOT REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE UNTIL AFTER THE CAR IMPACT, WHICH IS SUPPORTED BY SKID MARKS SHOWN IN PHOTOS. ( I WAS CHARGED ONLY FOR THE PART-NO LABOR ) BRIGHT CAR HOME ON THURSDAY AND CAR WAS MAKING A NOISE SO I TEXTED THE MANAGER AND HE SAID IF IT WAS STILL SAFE TO DRIVE THEN DO SO AND BRING IT IN ON MONDAY. IT BROKE DOWN THAT SUNDAY AND WAS TOWED INTO DEALER. NOW THE ENGINE IS RUINED AND THEY EXPECT ME TO PAY FOR IT WHEN IT WAS THEIR NEGLECT THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO BLOW. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER AS ALMOST ALL FORD DEALERSHIPS WILL TELL YOU FORD REALLY HAS NO FIX FOR THEIR DANGEROUS DESIGN OF THIS TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MEET FORDS SELF-IMPLEMENTED TEST TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FIXED. EACH TIME WE WERE ALMOST HIT FROM EITHER ONCOMING TRAFFIC OR THE VEHICLES FOLLOWING US.

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE THE TRANSMISSION DOESN'T SHIFT UP AND JUST DOESN'T GO. ROLLS BACKWARDS DOWN HILLS WHILE TRYING TO GO FORWARD AND MAKES A CLICKING SOUND. CAR HAS A REALLY BAD SHUTTER WHEN ROUNDING CURVES AND TURNING CORNERS AND OCCASIONALLY FOLLOWS WITH THE CAR NOT ACCELERATING. HAS BEEN TO FORD TO BE CHECKED ONCE ALREADY AND WAS TOLD IT HAD NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND HAS A SECOND APPOINTMENT NEXT WEEK. I'VE ONLY OWNED THE CAR FOR 9 MONTHS AND HAVE PUT LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON IT. SOMETIMES THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT WILL STALL OUT WHILE TRYING TO SHIFT UP. WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED CAN HEAR CLICKING IN TRANSMISSION AS IT ROCKS EXCESSIVELY ON LEVEL GROUND. CAR ALSO APPEARS TO HAVE NO POWER WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A STOP AND HAS ALMOST BEEN INVOLVED IN SEVERAL ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS.

ON 10/02/2015 MY SELF AND MY BOYFRIEND WERE IN MY 2015 FORD FIESTA SE, WITH HIM DRIVING MY CAR, WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION HERE IN PHOENIX, ARIZONA WERE WE RESIDE, MY 2015 FORD FIESTA LEACHED FORWARD AS BY BOYFRIEND STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL,AND THEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED UP VERY HIGH, AND THE CAR MOVED FROM THE STOP LINE AT THE INTER- SECTION AT A FAST RATE OF SPEED, AND NEXT THE TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP, CAUSING THE CAR TO STOP VERY HARD ALL AT ONCE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND STALL, AND OUR HEADS , AND OUR BODY'S TO BE THROWN FORWARD AT THE WINDSHIELD, BUT NOT HITTING IT, BECAUSE THE SEAT-BELTS ENGAGED THANK GOD ! A CAR WAS COMING BEHIND USE AND HAD TO SERVE SEVERELY, ALMOST CAUSING THAT CAR TO ROLL OVER AS IT JUST MISSED HITTING OR RIGHT REAR BUMPER, AT ABOUT 50 MILES AN HOUR. MY BOYFRIEND THEN PLACED THE CAR IN PARK, AND PUSHED THE HAZARD LIGHT BUTTON ON, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT START, IT TOOK ABOUT 3 TIMES, TURNING THE KEY, TO GET IT TO START AGAIN, BY THE THE LIGHT S TURN GREEN FOR THE TRAFFIC IN THE OTHER DIRECTION, AND THE CARS STATED TO COME AT OURS. MY BOYFRIEND, THE FINAL GOT THE CAR STARTED, AND AGAIN THE CAR LEACHED FORWARD VERY ABRUPTLY, AND AGAIN JERKED VERY HARD AGAIN, AND STALLED ONCE MORE, THAT HAPPENED ABOUT FIVE TIMES. WE WERE ABLE TO FINAL GET THE CAR TO MAKE IT ENOUGH THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, TO STOP IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, WHEN A PEDESTRIAN WAVED TO USE ASKING TO HELP US MOVE THE CAR FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, WE PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, AND PUSHED IT INTO A WALGREENS PARKING LOT. AND CALL FOR FORD EMERGENCY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. THE CAR THEN WAS PUT ON A FLAT BED TROW TRUCK, AND TAKE TO THE FORD DEALER WERE IT WAS PURCHASED FROM.

01/19/2015 MY BOYFRIEND HAD DRIVEN MY CAR TO THE STORE, ABOUT ONE MILE FROM MY HOME. ABOUT 10:40 PM. RECEIPT SHOWS THAT HE HAD CHECKED OUT AT 10:53 PM. HE TELLS ME THAT HE ENTERED MY CAR ABOUT 3 MINUTES LATER, BECAUSE IT WAS PARKED CLOSE TO THE STORE, HE LOADED THE SHOPPING BAGS INTO THE TRUNK OF THE CAR AND GOT IN AND STARTED THE CAR AND BACKED OUT FROM THE PARKING SPACE, AND THEN WENT FORWARD HE STATES IT WAS ABOUT NO MORE THEN 25 YARDS, WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THE CARS TRANSMISSION, AT FIRST HESITATED TO SHIFT, AND THEN MADE A SLIGHT JERK TO THE NEXT GEAR, THEN JERKED ONCE AGAIN SLIGHTLY. HE TELLS ME THAT HE THEN STOP THE CAR, AND STARTED AGAIN FORWARD, AND AT THIS TIME, HE DID NOT FEEL ANY PROBLEMS, SO I AGAIN STOPPED THE CAR, AND PUT IT INTO REVERSE. AND BACKED UP AT 4 MPH, HE DID NOT NOTICE ANY PROBLEMS. HE AGAIN STOPPED THE CAR, AND THEN DROVE AGAIN FORWARD AT 10 TO 15 MPH WITH NO PROBLEM TO HOME. 01/20/2015 I GOT INTO MY CAR WITH MY BOYFRIEND TO GO TO WORK, 915 AM. BOYFRIEND DRIVING. WE DROVE MY CAR OUT OF THE APARTMENT COMPLEX WHERE I RESIDE, AND DID NOT NOTICE A SHIFTING PROBLEM, UNTIL WE ENTERED THE STREET, AND THAT IS WHEN THE CAR HESITATE TO SHIFT UPON ACCELERATION, AND THE ENGINE REVVED UP LOUDLY, AND THEN JERKED INTO GEAR. AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP MY BOYFRIEND TOLD THE SERVICE ADVISER ABOUT THE ISSUES WITH THE CARS TRANSMISSION, AND HE WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE ADVISER, THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUE, AND HAD ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN. HE THEN WENT ON TO STATE THAT THE FORD SERVICE BULLETIN STATES THAT THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED MY A FAULTY TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, AND ALSO A INTERNAL LEAK IN THE CLUTCH HOUSING ON THE TRANSMISSION, AND THAT FORD WILL ONLY REPAIR THE ISSUE AT 1,500 MILES, NOT BEFORE THAT TIME. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COULD BE COMPUTER TUNED TO HELP STOP THE PROBLEM. *TR
