I am having problem with the reset button in my 2005 five hundred ford, the oil light stays on after oil changes, no one does not know how to reset, the reset button does not work, several mechanic told me not to worry about it , but the car can't pass the smog, it reads not ready, they told my to take a ride for about 50 miles and drive up to sixty miles per hour. . On going problem and I am running out of money, can you help, please
The engine keep going into limp mode. The car stalls out while at lights an stop signs, power steering goes out on highway an other roads making it impossible to steer or steer out of others ways, limp mode causes car to not be able to keep up with traffic on highway and other roads. Engine jerks forward an shifts irractically an shifts an downshifts hard.
I WAS AT RED LIGHT PERSON CROSSING ROAD I WAS I. DRIVE FOOT ON BRAKE, RPMS SHOT UP ENGINE REEVES CAT LUNGED FORWARD I PRESSED HARDER IN BRAKE ALMOST HIT PERSON. AT THE TIME NO WARNING LIGHTS. THEN AT PHARMACY DRIVE THRU W CAR I. FROM AND I. BACK OF ME CAR DID SAME THING. I HAD TO PRESS BRAKE HARD TO PREVENT MOVING HITTING CAR IN FROM OF ME. I WAS IN DRIVE BUT FOOT ON BRAKE! NO WARNING LIGHTS AT TIME. HAD THROTTLE BODY REPLACED STILL HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS PROGRESSING LITTLE DID I KNOW WHEN THROTTLE BODY IS REPLACED HAS TO BE REPROGRAMMED BY FORD! SPENT SO MUCH MONEY AND TIME TRYING TO FIGURE OUT PROBLEM. THIS IS A FLAW W FORD 500 2005 THROTTLE BODY MANY COMPLAINTS AND TEST DOES NEVER ISSUES RECALL, UNSAFE. I COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE.

TAKATA RECALL MY CAR HAS A FUEL LEAK PROBLEM AND FUEL TANK IS DAMAGE TO WELD DEFECT CIDE: P04442. ALSO PREVIOUS OWN INSTALLED A AFTERMARKET REMOTE CAR STARTER. NOW MY CAR HAS TROUBLE STARTING EVER AFTER I REPLACED THE STARTER. PROBLEM MIGHT BE THE (ECU) ENGINE CONTROL UNIT NOW WORKING PROPERLY.

THE CONTACT OPENED THE HOOD AND FLAMES EMERGED FROM THE ENGINE AND THE SMOKE TURNED BLACK. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE; HOWEVER, THE FIRE ERUPTED AGAIN AND WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250,000.

WE HAVE SINCE TALKED TO SEVERAL FORD DEALERS INCLUDING FORD MOTOR COMPANY , THEY ALL SAID IT WAS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I DO NOT THINK IT SHOULD BE MY RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR THIS SINCE THE PART WAS RECALLED !!! YESTERDAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK, AND THE CAR WAS RUNNING POORLY (CREEPING WHEN FIRST OFF BRAKES, NOT UP SHIFTING), WHEN THE DASH WAS OPERABLE IT SHOWED ALTERNATING CHECK ENGINE/CHECK TRANSMISSION WARNINGS, AND VEHICLE WAS SURGING/LAGGING NOTICEABLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I AGAIN DID THE BATTERY DISCONNECT LAST NIGHT, AND THE CAR IS OPERATING NORMAL TODAY, BUT I'M SURE IT WILL RECUR SHORTLY. I AM HESITANT TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER AS THIS SOUNDS LIKE A SIGNIFICANT ELECTRONICS ISSUE, AND I HAVE ALREADY READ UP ON THE FORD TSB 06-17-9 THAT IS DOCUMENTED ONLINE, NOT ALL OF WHICH ALIGNS WITH MY ISSUES. LAST FRIDAY 5/9/14, I WAS AT A LIGHT AND WHEN IT TURNED GREEN I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE OFF, BUT VEHICLE WAS BARLEY MOVING OR RESPONDING TO THROTTLE INPUT, THIS CONTINUED FOR A SHORT DISTANCE & EVENTUALLY BUILT UP TO NORMAL SPEED. IT RECURRED AGAIN AT THE NEXT LIGHT, WITH SAME SYMPTOMS. I CONTACTED A MECHANIC I KNOW AND THE NEXT DAY I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLE IN AN ATTEMPT TO CLEAR THE SYSTEM, AND AS OF A WEEK LATER ONLY THE DASH LIGHTS ISSUE HAS RECURRED. HOWEVER I FEEL THE LOSS OF POWER IS A SIGNIFICANT CONCERN IF IT WERE TO OCCUR ON A BUSY ROAD OR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. *TR

FORD SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE! IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY FORD FIVE HUNDRED OWNERS! LAST MONTH IN JANUARY MY FIVE HUNDRED HAD OTHER ISSUES. I WAS DRIVING 35MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR HAD NO POWER, I GAVE IT GAS AND IT WOULD GROWL BUT NO POWER. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. ONE RESTARTED IT RETURNED TO NORMAL BUT THE WRENCH ICON LIGHT WAS ON THE DASH. I HAVE ALSO HAD AN IDLING PROBLEM. WHILE AT IDLE MY CAR WOULD SPUTTER. THE RPM'S WERE LOW AND IT WOULD IDLE ROUGH AND SURGE FROM LOW TO HIGH, I TRIED HITTING THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR STALLED! AGAIN OTHER FORD FIVE HUNDRED OWNERS ALSO EXPERIENCED THESE ISSUES! THIS OCCURRED THREE TIMES TRYING TO GET OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT A CROWDED MALL.THE VEHICLE THEN STALLED. THE LUNGING WAS SO FAST THE BRAKES COULD HARDLY HOLD THE CAR FROM MOVING IN REVERSE. IN CHECKING THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN TSB-05-25-13 FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY ON THIS VERY ISSUE BUT NO RECALL, ALSO MANY INCIDENTS/ACCIDENTS RECORDED IN THIS REGARD. IF I WAS NOT PREPARED ENOUGH DURING THIS INCIDENT IN A CROWDED PARKING LOT SOME ONE WOULD HAVE DIED, THIS MUST BE ADDRESSED B-4 SOMEONE IS RUN OVER. CURRENTLY FORD HAS NO COMMENT. IN OCTOBER 2008, MY DASH BEGAN MALFUNCTIONING. THE GAUGES WOULD GO COMPLETELY DEAD. I COULD NOT TELL HOW FAST I WAS GOING, HOW MUCH GAS I HAD LEFT OR THE TEMPERATURE OF THE ENGINE. NOTHING ON MY DASH WOULD WORK. IT VARIED FROM LASTING SECONDS TO APPX A HALF AN HOUR. I DROVE HOME ONE NIGHT (IT TOOK ME APPX 25 MINUTES) NOT KNOWING HOW FAST I WAS GOING OR HOW MUCH GAS I HAD LEFT. ON OR ABOUT DECEMBER 26, 2010 THE PANEL BLACKED OUT AND THE CAR BOGGED DOWN AND I HAD TO PULL OFF OF THE ROAD, TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART TO GET IT TO RUN NORMALLY. AS I WAS SLOWING TO TURN OFF OF A STATE HIGHWAY, MY CAR SHUT OFF AND DISPLAYED A MESSAGE THAT SAID "FAILSAFE ENGINE MODE." I WAS SOMEWHAT ABLE TO STEER, SO I COMPLETED MY TURN ONTO A SIDE STREET, WHERE THE CAR DRIFTED TO A STOP. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND DRIVE HOME. THE NEXT MORNING, THE CAR WOULD START BUT IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF, DISPLAYING THE SAME ERROR MESSAGE. I HAD IT TOWED TO A GARAGE, WHICH INDICATED THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST REVEALED A FAILED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY. THEY ORDERED A REPLACEMENT PART, WHICH WAS THEN INSTALLED. INCIDENTALLY, THE PART HAD SINCE BEEN REDESIGNED BY FORD. ONCE THAT PART WAS REINSTALLED, THE COMPUTER WAS REFLASHED TO "LEARN" THAT A NEW THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WAS INSTALLED. THE COMPUTER WOULD NOT LEARN THE NEW PART, THOUGH, SO A NEW COMPUTER HAD TO BE ORDERED AND INSTALLED. OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS, THIS SAME PROBLEM (SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING) HAD OCCURRED, BUT IN EACH CASE I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR WITHOUT ANY FURTHER PROBLEM. THIS WAS DANGEROUS IN THAT MY CAR SIMPLY SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING,MAKING A LEFT TURN ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC. FORTUNATELY NOBODY WAS COMING THE OTHER DIRECTION, SO I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY DRIFT THROUGH THE ONCOMING LANE TO ANOTHER SIDE STREET. ALSO, IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT WHILE MY CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP HAVING THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY FIVE OTHER FORD FIVE HUNDRED VEHICLES IN THE SHOP AT THE SAME TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR ELECTRONIC THROTTLES AS WELL.

I SOON NOTICED THAT THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY LIGHTS WOULD NOT LIGHT UP DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS, EVEN THOUGH THE RHEOSTAT WAS SET ON MAXIMUM BRILLIANCE. THE POLICE ASSUMED MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE INOPERATIVE(BLOWN BULB/BROKE LENSES) AS MY REVERSE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED CAUSING AN UNSAFE CONDITION. THE VEHICLE IS AT THE FORD DEALER NOW, THE DEALER DID SUPPLY ME WITH ANOTHER CAR UNTIL MINE WAS REPAIRED AS THEY DEEMED THE CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN THIS CONDITION. THE DEALER DID NOT RETURN THE VEHICLE UNTIL FEBRUARY 23,2008. THE DEALER WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THROUGH OUT THE CAR IS BEING HEARD IN THE SPEAKERS. IF THE SEATS, WINDOW, ETC., ETC. ARE TOUCHED YOU CAN HEAR THEM THROUGH THE BACK END WITH A LOUD ROARING NOISE. IT IS SO LOUD THAT YOU CAN NOT KEEP THE RADIO ON. IT ONLY REACTS WHEN IT IS EXTREMELY HOT, EXTREMELY COLD OR AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN WASHED OR IT RAINS. WE HAVE TAKEN THIS TO THE DEALER WHERE THE AMP, RADIO, CD PLAYER AND SPEAKERS HAVE ALL BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES. THEY HAVE EVEN ELIMINATED WATER LEAK WHICH ONLY LEAVES WIRING ISSUES IN WHICH THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE. OUR FEAR IS THAT IT COULD CAUSE FIRE. WE HAVE ARBITRATED AND CONTACTED CORPORATE AND THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WE EVEN TOOK THIS TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER IN WHICH THEY TOLD US AFTER SHOWING THEM ALL THE WORK ORDERS THAT THEY WILL NOT GET INVOLVED SINCE IT IS A PRE-EXISTING ISSUE THAT ANOTHER DEALER HAS TRIED TO RESOLVE MANY, MANY TIMES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THEY NEEDED TO ORDER A NEW DASH CLUSTER PANEL ,AFTER 2 WEEKS CALLED DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE A MONTH TO GET PART I WAS TOLD BY ANOTHER MECHANIC THAT CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF AIR BAG WAS IN FAILURE MODE. NOT ONCE WAS I TOLD THIS BY DEALER. HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. *JB

WITHIN A FEW MINUTES THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED, ENGINE FAILURE LIGHT AND THE SURGING. NEEDLESS TO SAY, IT TOOK QUITE AWHILE TO GET HOME. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER THE FIST TIME AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. AFTER THE SECOND SNOW STORM, AND THE SAME SYMPTOMS, THE DEALER SAID THE PROBLEM OCCURRED BECAUSE THE FILTER WAS INSTALLED BACKWARDS. SOMEWHAT SKEPTICAL, I ACCEPTED THEIR EXPLANATION BECAUSE OF MY GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH THE DEALER OWNER AND SERVICE MANAGER. WHILE AT WORK THE OTHER DAY, I NOTICED A CO-WORKER WITH A SIMILAR TYPE VEHICLE AND INQUIRED AS TO HOW SHE LIKED THE FORD 500. HER RESPONSE SHOCKED ME WHEN SHE STATED THAT SHE LIKED THE VEHICLE, BUT HAD TROUBLE THIS PAST WINTER IN THE SNOW. SHE DESCRIBED THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I HAD EXPERIENCED AND NOW I WONDER HOW MANY OTHER 2005 FORD 500 OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEMS. AFTER THE LAST REPAIR IT NOW IS GETTING ONLY ABOUT 19 MILES TO THE GALLON IN COMBINED DRIVING. WE HAVE ASKED FORD TO BUY THE VEHICLE BACK AND THREE TIMES WE WERE TOLD A FORD REGIONAL REP WOULD CALL US BACK TO WORK WITH US AND THEY NEVER WOULD CALL US BACK. WE ARE CURRENTLY TRYING TO HAVE FORD BUY THE VEHICLE BACK OR REPLACE IT THROUGH THE BBB DISPUTE REPLACEMENT BUT THEY WILL NOT. WE HAVE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS AND MOLDINGS NOT BEING ALIGNED CORRECTLY AND THIS CAUSED DAMAGE WHEN THE REAR DOOR OPENED AND DAMAGED THE DOORS.
