The contact owns a 2006 Ford Five Hundred. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the transmission was slipping. The contact restarted the vehicle and the transmission worked as designed for a while. While traveling up a hill or at a stop light, the vehicle would drift backwards. The contact had to let the vehicle drift to shift into gear. At times the vehicle failed to shift. The engine and wrench warning lights were illuminated. The contact was concerned about driving the vehicle. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

I WAS ON MY WAY HOME COMING DOWN FARROW RD. AND MY CAR STALLED OUT, SO I SLOWLY PULLED IN THE MEDIAN TURN CAR OFF AND BACK ON. WHEN I GOT READY TO PULL OUT OF THE MEDIAN THE CAR WOULDN'T GO NO FASTER THAN 5 MILES AND HOUR. SO I HAD MY FRIEND HELP ME PULL IT OUT OF THE ROAD AND TAKE ME HOME AND TOW MY CAR TO THE HOUSE. WHEN I GOT IT HOME THERE WASN'T ANY ACCELERATION, RPMS WONT MOVE AT ALL, CAR HAS POWER AND CRANKS BUT WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE IT WON'T GO ANYWHERE. IT STALLS AND CUTS OFF, EVEN IN NEUTRAL NO ACCELERATION. EVERYTHING LIGHTS UP AND CUTS ON BUT NO ACCELERATION. FROM MY PHOTOS BELOW YOU WILL SEE I HAVE REPLACED ALTERNATOR, THROTTLEBODY, THE RED AND BLACK WIRING ON THE BACK OF THE INTAKE I'VE CHECKED ALL MY HOSES THERE WAS NO SPLITS NO CUTS NO VACUUM LEAK AND EVERY TIME I GET A READING ON IT IT GIVES ME A DIFFERENT CODE PLEASE READ AND REPLY IF THIS IS A RECALL I NEED MY CAR FIXED IMMEDIATELY

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

FROM THE DAY I BOUGHT THE CAR THE A/C HAS NOT WORKED PROPERLY. IT ONLY COOLS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR WHEN TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE IS LESS THAN 70 DEGREES, THE ENGINE HAS NEVER IDLED SMOOTHLY AND WATER COLLECTS IN THE DOORS. THE MAIN ISSUE I'VE BEEN HAVING IS THAT IT SURGES AT STOP LIGHTS AND TOTALLY SHUTS DOWN GOING DOWN THE ROAD. MOTOR, GAUGES EVERYTHING SHUTS DOWN SOMETIMES FOR 8-10 SECONDS. THIS IS SPORADIC AND MORE COMMON WHEN THE A/C IS IN USE. I HAVE HAD THE THROTTLE BODY CLEANED AND REPROGRAMMED SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO CHANGE WHAT SO EVER. I JUST HAD A NEW ONE INSTALLED AND IT SHUT DOWN ON ME WITHIN 1 MILE OF DEALERSHIP. IT HAS BEEN VERY FRUSTRATING TO SAY THE LEAST. NOW, WHEN STARTED, THERE IS A FAULTY BEARING NOISE WHICH IS PRESENT UNTIL TRANSMISSION IS ENGAGED IN EITHER REVERSE OR DRIVE. I WOULD PULL CAR FORWARD TEN FEET AND BACK IN REVERSE TO PARK. I HAVE A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED THAT WILL LUNGE FORWARD AT ODD TIMES ESPECIALLY WHEN THE A/C IS ON. IT IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND I BELIEVE SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED A LONG TIME AGO. I BOUGHT MY FORD FIVE HUNDRED IN JAN 2008 AND IT HAS BEEN DOING IT EVER SINCE. THE DEALER ALSO REPLACED WITH USED TRANSMISSION AND TWO WEEKS LATER THAT ONE WAS DOING IT. PROBLEM STARTED FOR ME AT ABOUT 45,000 MI . THE DEALER I PURCHASED FROM SAID THERE WAS A BULLETIN OUT BUT NO RECALL SO I HAD TO TAKE THE USED TRANSMISSION OR BUY A NEW ONE.IT WILL JUST LUNGE FORWARD EVEN WHEN BRAKING OR STOPPED. WHAT A PAIN. IT HELPS TO KEEP FOOT FIRMLY ON BRAKE WHEN CHANGING GEAR OR HOLDING STILL, WHILE THE CAR TRIES TO LURCH FORWARD (OR BACK) WITH UNPLANNED ACCELERATION. SEEMS TO BE GETTING INCREASINGLY WORSE AND NOW I DON'T FEEL IT'S SAFE TO LET ANYONE ELSE DRIVE IT, LIKE AT VALET PARKING. I HAVE A 06' FORD FIVE HUNDRED THAT I PURCHASED CERTIFIED USED IN 07'. WITHIN A FEW MONTHS I STARTED EXPERIENCING SURGING PROBLEMS ESPECIALLY WHEN THE A/C WAS RUNNING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IN 08' BUT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. ON EACH RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. ON MY LAST VISIT TO THE DEALER THEY CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY AND SAID THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED ME TO REAREND A VEHICLE IN 2009. FORD IS NOT RESPONDING TO THE PROBLEM AT ALL. AFTER 3+ YEARS OF TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS I ALL BUT HAVE GIVEN UP. THAT IS UNTIL TODAY WHEN THE REPAIR SHOP THAT I USE ON A REGULAR BASIS HIRED A NEW MECHANIC WHO WAS ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM TURNS OUT TO BE THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSORS IN THE THROTTLE BODY. IT TOOK THE MECHANIC OVER 2 HOURS TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PROBLEM. THE UNFORTUNATE THING IS THE COST OF A NEW THROTTLE BODY IS OVER $500 THEN ADD LABOR. IF I HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED THERE IS NO GUARANTEE FROM FORD THAT THE NEW THROTTLE BODY WON'T DO THE SAME THING. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT FORD HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY AND IS NOT WILLING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND BACK THEIR PRODUCTS. *KB

I HAVE A "BUCKING" BEHAVIOR, AFTER TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 2 HRS AT SPEEDS OVER 60MPH (INTERSTATE TRAVEL). THE LURCHING OCCURS AT LEAST ONCE A DAY, EVEN AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR OVER 30 MINUTES. I OWN A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. CAR SURGES FORWARD EVEN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED. IT DOES THIS IN REVERSE ALSO - EVEN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED. I HAVE FOUND THAT THE CAR DOES THIS MAINLY WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING IS TURNED ON. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO TRY TO PARK THE CAR WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON. THE CAR SURGES FORWARD AND I HAVE ALMOST RUN INTO OTHER CARS WHEN TRYING TO PARK. THE DEALER RETRIEVED THE CODE FROM THE COMPUTER. THEY APPLIED THE LATEST UPDATES TO THE COMPUTER AND CLEARED THE CODE. THE DEALER TOLD ME IF THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM, I WOULD HAVE TO GET A NEW THROTTLE BODY AT APPROX. $400. SEVERAL WEEKS HAVE GONE BY AND THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. IT IS SCARY! I CALLED THE DEALER AND ASKED THEM TO ORDER A NEW THROTTLE BODY. IT APPEARS TO BE ON BACKORDER UNTIL 8/31/10. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2006, THE CONTACT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING BRAKE FAILURE. ON JAN 8, 2009, I HAD TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 1050 MILES FROM OKLAHOMA TO OHIO. WHILE IN OHIO, 6 INCHES OF SNOW HAD FALLEN, AND THE ROADS WERE SLICK WITH SNOW AND ICE. IN PREPARING FOR MY RETURN TRIP ON JAN 11, THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, AND THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN CONTROL AND BRAKING IN THE VEHICLE. UPON DRIVING FURTHER, THE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO REVERSE WITH A HUGE "BANG" SOUND AND VIBRATION. THE VEHICLE'S CVT TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT CHANGE GEARS IN DRIVE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. UPON TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF, AND BACK ON, ALL LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF, AND COME BACK ON WITHIN 5 MINUTES. AFTER THE 6TH RESTART, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL. THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT, AFTER A FEW RESTARTS, DID NOT COME BACK ON. HOWEVER, THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS STAYED ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 650 MILES. AFTER THAT TIME, ALL LIGHTS WENT OUT, BUT THE RPMS WENT FROM 2000 TO 3500 ON THEIR OWN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL ON A FLAT ROAD. THAT CORRECTED ITSELF ABOUT 100 MILES LATER. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER ON MY RETURN, THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE NO LIGHTS WERE ON, AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOW ACTING NORMALLY, THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. MY FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRES IN 14 DAYS, AND I AM NOT SURE IF I'LL BE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM TO THE DEALER BY THAT TIME. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BLAMED THE MALFUNCTION ON THE COLD WEATHER AND THE SNOW, BUT THE AWD VEHICLE WITH TRACTION CONTROL WAS, TO MY KNOWLEDGE, MANUFACTURED TO DEAL WITH SNOW AND COLD WEATHER. WE HAVE A 2006 FORD 500 WHICH HAD THE CVT TRANSMISSION REPLACED AFTER 4 WEEKS. THE TRANSMISSION CONTINUES TO HAVE A SIGNIFICANT DELAY IN ENGAGING IN REVERSE. MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER DID NOT WAIT UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED AND HAVE ON OCCASION LURCHED BACKWARDS ALMOST RUNNING OVER HER LITTLE BROTHER. WITH THE FRONT OF THE CAR ON A DECLINE THE CAR WILL ROLL FORWARD WHEN IN REVERSE UNTIL IT ENGAGES AND THE USER DEPRESSES THE THROTTLE. OLATHE FORD AND A FACTORY REP. INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND SUPPOSEDLY THE VEHICLE IS WITHIN SPECS. I DON'T THINK SO, THE CAR ALSO WHINES WHEN TURNING CORNERS. I THINK THE CVT TRANSMISSION IS OUT OF SPECS. FORD DOESN'T USE IT ANYMORE, NOR DO I WANT TO. I HAVE HAD MANY FORDS, THIS WILL BE MY LAST IF THIS ISN'T RESOLVED TO MY SATISFACTION.
