I WAS ON MY WAY HOME COMING DOWN FARROW RD. AND MY CAR STALLED OUT, SO I SLOWLY PULLED IN THE MEDIAN TURN CAR OFF AND BACK ON. WHEN I GOT READY TO PULL OUT OF THE MEDIAN THE CAR WOULDN'T GO NO FASTER THAN 5 MILES AND HOUR. SO I HAD MY FRIEND HELP ME PULL IT OUT OF THE ROAD AND TAKE ME HOME AND TOW MY CAR TO THE HOUSE. WHEN I GOT IT HOME THERE WASN'T ANY ACCELERATION, RPMS WONT MOVE AT ALL, CAR HAS POWER AND CRANKS BUT WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE IT WON'T GO ANYWHERE. IT STALLS AND CUTS OFF, EVEN IN NEUTRAL NO ACCELERATION. EVERYTHING LIGHTS UP AND CUTS ON BUT NO ACCELERATION. FROM MY PHOTOS BELOW YOU WILL SEE I HAVE REPLACED ALTERNATOR, THROTTLEBODY, THE RED AND BLACK WIRING ON THE BACK OF THE INTAKE I'VE CHECKED ALL MY HOSES THERE WAS NO SPLITS NO CUTS NO VACUUM LEAK AND EVERY TIME I GET A READING ON IT IT GIVES ME A DIFFERENT CODE PLEASE READ AND REPLY IF THIS IS A RECALL I NEED MY CAR FIXED IMMEDIATELY

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY SENSOR FAILED, SENDING THE VEHICLE INTO "LIMP MODE", AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY SENSOR WAS REPLACED TWICE. THE VEHICLE RECENTLY WENT INTO "LIMP MODE" AGAIN. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE FOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TEST DRIVEN, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DUPLICATED. I PURCHASED MY CAR 7/31/2012 WITH 113,000 MILES. I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A RECALL FOR THE RPM SURGE IN 2013. CONCERNED, I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD SINCE I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AND HADN'T REACHED THE 150,000 MILE LIMIT, THEN I DIDNT NEED TO WORRY ABOUT REPAIRS FOR THE TIME BEING. I THEN ASKED WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I SURPASSED THE MILE LIMIT AND THE PROBLEM SURFACED. THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT AS LONG AS A RECALL EVER EXISTED, THEN FORD WOULD ALWAYS BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. NOT SATISFIED WITH THAT RESPONSE, (BECAUSE THERE WOULD NOT BE A 10 YR /150,000 LIMIT IN THE LETTER) I QUESTIONED THE MANAGER WHO CONFIRMED THE TECH'S ANSWER. IN 2014 I RELOCATED TO LANCASTER CA. I TOO HAVE HAD NUMEROUS DANGEROUS CLOSE CALLS WITH THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHILE BREAKING; ONE BEING IN A SCHOOL PARKING LOT IN HIGH TEMPERATURES. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP 5/2016 AND JUST AS EXPECTED, THEY WONT REPAIR MY CAR WITHOUT COST. THIS IS WRONG AND VERY DANGEROUS AND HOPEFULLY YOU GUYS WILL DECIDE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS FOR THE MANY PEOPLE STILL EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS.

THE ENGINE WAS REPLACE BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP DUE TO A MANUFACTURE DEFECT 6 YEARS AGO. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAT 50,000 MILES ON. WHAT ESTIMATE COST OF REPAIRING IS $970.00. THIS SEEMED TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS, THEN THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. NOT AS HARSH AS PREVIOUSLY BUT NONETHELESS, THE RIDE FEELS UNSAFE AND THE ISSUE HAPPENS ERRATICALLY. THIS PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED FOR OVER A YEAR. DURING THIS TIME I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE TO FIND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND COMPLAINT AMONG CONSUMERS. WHY HAS THIS VEHICLE NOT BEEN RECALLED? THIS IS A PRESSING ISSUE FOR ME AS IT IS NOT A SECURE FEELING TO LOSE CONTROL OF YOUR VEHICLE MOMENTARILY. I ALSO HAVE TO CONSIDER THE SAFETY OF MY UNBORN CHILD. THE FORD FIVE HUNDRED VEHICLES WITH MAJOR MECHANICAL MALFUNCTIONS NEED TO BE RECALLED AND TAKEN OFF THE MARKET, NOT SIMPLY "FIXED." SHE COULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR EVEN KILLED. I CALLED THE FORD DEALER AND THEY WENT AND GOT THE CAR. AFTER CHECKING OUT THE PROBLEM, THEY SAID THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT A PRICE OF $676.00 PLUS LABOR. THEY CALLED FORD MOTOR CO FOR FINANCIAL HELP AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL AND THEY CANNOT HELP. I DID NOT THINK THIS IS RIGHT. I KNOW THEY KNOW THEY HAVE A PROBLEM, BUT WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE IT. I SPOKE TO A COUPLE DEALERS AND THEY BOTH SAID THE SAME THING, "THAT WILL ONLY CLEAN THE AFFECTED PART AND THAT 65 PER CENT END UP COMING BACK AND THE CUSTOMER ENDS UP PAYING TO $800.00 TO $900.00 TO REPLACE THE PART. THIS HAPPENS MOST DANGEROUSLY AT HIGH SPEEDS, DUE TO DRIVER'S INABILITY TO CONTROL VEHICLE ADEQUATELY TO DEFEND AGAINST POTENTIAL CRASHES OR CONTROL SPEED DURING TURNS. I HAVE A 06' FORD FIVE HUNDRED THAT I PURCHASED CERTIFIED USED IN 07'. WITHIN A FEW MONTHS I STARTED EXPERIENCING SURGING PROBLEMS ESPECIALLY WHEN THE A/C WAS RUNNING. ON MY LAST VISIT TO THE DEALER THEY CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY AND SAID THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED ME TO REAREND A VEHICLE IN 2009. FORD IS NOT RESPONDING TO THE PROBLEM AT ALL. AFTER 3+ YEARS OF TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS I ALL BUT HAVE GIVEN UP. THAT IS UNTIL TODAY WHEN THE REPAIR SHOP THAT I USE ON A REGULAR BASIS HIRED A NEW MECHANIC WHO WAS ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM TURNS OUT TO BE THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSORS IN THE THROTTLE BODY. IT TOOK THE MECHANIC OVER 2 HOURS TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PROBLEM. THE UNFORTUNATE THING IS THE COST OF A NEW THROTTLE BODY IS OVER $500 THEN ADD LABOR. IF I HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED THERE IS NO GUARANTEE FROM FORD THAT THE NEW THROTTLE BODY WON'T DO THE SAME THING. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT FORD HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY AND IS NOT WILLING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND BACK THEIR PRODUCTS. *KB

THEN WENT AGAIN BECAUSE THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY. THEN THEY CLAIMED IT WAS MY AIR FILTER WHICH IS A LIE. I CALLED THE FORD HEADQUARTERS AND ALL THEY CAN DO IS TAKE DOWN WHEN I CALLED AND WHAT IT WAS ABOUT. THEY ARE NO HELP WHAT SO EVER SO WHAT IS THE POINT OF THEM EVEN EXISTING IF THEY CANT HELP SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEY CLAIM EACH DEALER IS INDEPENDENT AND THAT THEY CAN ADVISE THAT I GO TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. I HAVE WASTED A GOOD DEAL OF TIME AND MONEY. LUCKILY I WAS SMART AND BOUGHT THAT PREMIUM EXTENDED WARRANTY. I STILL HAVE SPENT CLOSE TO OVER $400 ON REPAIRS. EACH TIME I WENT I HAD TO PAY A DEDUCTIBLE OF $100.00. THE BATTERY I WENT TO SAMS CLUB TO GET BECAUSE THE DEALER WANTED $140 BUT I GOT MINE FOR $75. THEY ADVISED TO GET MY THROTTLE BODY CLEAN AND THAT WAS $95. THEY SAID I NEED TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION FLUSHED WHICH IS ANOTHER LIE. I DIDN'T GET THAT DONE BECAUSE I ONLY HAVE 60,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS AS RED AS CAN BE AND IS STILL GOOD FOR PROBABLY ANOTHER 40,000 MILES. THE POINT IS FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM IT APPARENTLY IS HAPPENING TO TONS OF FOLKS OUT THERE. THEY NEED TO JUST FIX IT BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY THROTTLE BODY CLEANED THE PROBLEM STILL COMES BACK HERE AND THERE. I JUST HOPE THAT NO ONE GETS KILLED AND THEN FORD WILL FINALLY GET THIS RIGHT. IF YOU TURN THE CAR ALL THE WAY OFF, IT WILL RESET AND NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL THE NEXT TIME IT DECIDES TO DO IT AGAIN. THE FORD MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CALLED IN REGARDS TO THIS FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000 THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 88,000. SHE PULLED INTO TRAFFIC, BUT THE VEHICLE HAD NO SPEED. IT WAS MAKING A STRANGE NOISE AND SHE HAD NO CRUISE CONTROL. THEN A STRANGE SYMBOL APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. IT WAS A PICTURE OF A WRENCH. THE CONSUMER LOOKED IT UP IN THE MANUAL, AND IT SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND TO CALL THE DEALER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE PART WAS NO LONGER BEING MADE, DUE TO THE COMPANY WHO WAS MAKING THEM FOR FORD WENT BANKRUPT AND THERE WAS NO DATE AS TO WHEN FORD WOULD BE PUTTING THE PART BACK INTO PRODUCTION. *JB

ON JAN 8, 2009, I HAD TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 1050 MILES FROM OKLAHOMA TO OHIO. WHILE IN OHIO, 6 INCHES OF SNOW HAD FALLEN, AND THE ROADS WERE SLICK WITH SNOW AND ICE. IN PREPARING FOR MY RETURN TRIP ON JAN 11, THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, AND THERE WAS A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE IN CONTROL AND BRAKING IN THE VEHICLE. UPON DRIVING FURTHER, THE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO REVERSE WITH A HUGE "BANG" SOUND AND VIBRATION. THE VEHICLE'S CVT TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT CHANGE GEARS IN DRIVE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. UPON TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF, AND BACK ON, ALL LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF, AND COME BACK ON WITHIN 5 MINUTES. AFTER THE 6TH RESTART, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL. THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT, AFTER A FEW RESTARTS, DID NOT COME BACK ON. HOWEVER, THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS STAYED ON FOR APPROXIMATELY 650 MILES. AFTER THAT TIME, ALL LIGHTS WENT OUT, BUT THE RPMS WENT FROM 2000 TO 3500 ON THEIR OWN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL ON A FLAT ROAD. THAT CORRECTED ITSELF ABOUT 100 MILES LATER. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER ON MY RETURN, THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE NO LIGHTS WERE ON, AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOW ACTING NORMALLY, THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. MY FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRES IN 14 DAYS, AND I AM NOT SURE IF I'LL BE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM TO THE DEALER BY THAT TIME. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BLAMED THE MALFUNCTION ON THE COLD WEATHER AND THE SNOW, BUT THE AWD VEHICLE WITH TRACTION CONTROL WAS, TO MY KNOWLEDGE, MANUFACTURED TO DEAL WITH SNOW AND COLD WEATHER.
