This Problem Across All Years
I am having the same issues that were recalled in the 2019 Ford Flex backup camera. My 2015 Ford Flex backup camera is malfunctioning, going black, flipping the image and flashing randomly. It has progressively gotten worse.

I contacted Ford about my issue when I learned that recalls on other Ford products were issued for my fault. I was told that there was no recall for this issue and they would only fix it if I paid for it. Since then a recall for 2015 Ford Flex has finally been issued. My 2015 Ford Flex is experiencing backup camera issues the same as reported in the 2015 Flex recall issued earlier this year. I have talked to local Ford dealers as well as Customer Recall Support. They all say that since it is not included in the recall list they will not fix it. I will have to pay for diagnosis plus any repair costs. Since this is already stated to be a Safety Issue, I feel that it should be fixed by the manufacturer. Just because they did not include my VIN in their recall list should not be an excuse for not fixing the Safety Problem. I asked for a list of the serial number range of the recall but they would not provide. When I requested to speak to higher management they also declined to give me that information as well. I have been involved with high volume manufacturing for over 50 years and know that although every attempt to quantify a range of products with a certain defect may be made, it is not possible to 100% guarantee that there is not an outlier in the distribution. As the watchdog for defective automotive product (especially Safety Issues) I feel that NHTSA should be involved and assist me in getting Ford to correct this Safety issue.

The back up camera has been malfunctioning for nearly two years; if T something that happens randomly I contacted Ford and they said it’s my responsibility to get it repaired because it’s not an issue on our 2015 Ford Flex when in fact many 2015 Ford Flex were recalled for the same issue I have images of the malfunction proving the problem

My backup camera will show a blank and or distorted image or the camera will be inverted so when I back up, everything is upside down. There is a recall already for this, but it is for the 2014 and 2019 Ford flex not the 2015.

Rearview camera issues- Camera does not come on 90% of the time. Will get an error that camera requires service. I brought this ford's attention when a similar recall went out on the Bronco, as I also own a Bronco. I was advise a there was no details available

We were on the way back from the grocery store on September 4th, 2021. We were traveling on the freeway at about 60mph when the car suddenly lost power. The only warning light was a wrench on the display. All electrical power remained on but there was no engine power and no acceleration. We were fortunate there was a shoulder where I was able to pull over. I coasted the car down the exit and onto a street away from traffic. I waited about 10 minutes, turned the car off and turned it back on and it started. The wrench light on the display was off. I called the local Ford Dealership and the Service Advisor said there were no recalls and that I would need to pay for a diagnostic check. The issue has not reoccurred.

VEHICLE HAS OUTSIDE DOOR LOCK CONTROLS,BUILT INTO THE FRONT DOOR HANDLES. THESE ARE ACTIVATED BY SENSORS BUILT INTO THE HANDLES. OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS THE SENSORS HAVE INTERMITTENTLY.FAILED TO WORK. WHEN ASKED MEMBERS OF A FORD FLEX CHAT BOARD TO WHICH I BELONG HAVE TOLD ME SEVERAL HAVE HAD SIMILAR FAILURES, AND ONE SAID HIS 2014 FLEX WAS FIXED UNDER A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL. I JUST CHECKED, AND THERE IS NO OUTSTANDING RECALL ON MY 2015 FLEX. ALTHOUGH I AM ABLE TO GAIN ENTRY WITH MY REMOTE FOB, THIS SEEMS A SAFETY RELATED SITUATION IN THAT THE DRIVER OF SUCH A VEHICLE BECOMES ACCUSTOMED TO LEAVING THE REMOTE IN A POCKET OR PURSE, AND IF THE DOOR SENSOR FAILS TO UNLOCK THE DOOR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED IN A TRAFFIC WAY, THE DRIVER COULD BE EXOPSED TO DANGER FROM PASSING TRAFFIC WHILE TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HAS HAPPENED. THIS SITUATION OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED, EITHER IN A PARKING LOT OR ON STREET-SIDE. IT DOES NOT OCCUR WHEN THE VEHICLE ENGINE IS RUNNING OR IN MOTION.
