BOUGHT MY 2007 FORD FOCUS AND AS SOON AS MY WARRANTY EXPIRED BOTH REAR DOORS ARE NOW LOCKED SHUT AND I CAN NOT GET THEM OPEN BY UNLOCKING THEM, THE HANDLES DON'T SEEM TO BE CATCHING ON ANYTHING AND THE LATCH SEEMS TO BE STUCK. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID HE CAN'T FIX IT WITHOUT TEARING THE DOOR OFF IT WOULD HAVE TO BE TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE WORK DONE. I'M AM NOW ABOUT TO HAVE A SON AND CANT USE MY CAR DUE TO NOT HAVING ACCESS TO MY BACK SEAT AT ALL WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY TO GET IT FIXED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AND REAR DOORS EXHIBITED THE SAME FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED BAXTER FORD SOUTH (9203 S 145TH ST, OMAHA, NE 68138, (855) 985-0071), BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED, CAUSING DOOR TO POP OPEN - THE LATCH HAS A RECALL, BUT ONLY THROUGH 2005 - SAME LATCH IS USED. THE DOOR WILL NOW NOT CLOSE AT ALL. I HAD THE SAME ISSUE ON MY 2003 FOCUS. CAR HAS LESS THAN 70000 MILES ON IT. IF THERE WAS EVER A SAFETY ISSUE NEEDING A RECALL, IT IS DOORS POPPING OPEN ON THEIR OWN.

WE WERE DRIVING NORTH AT 50 MPH, MAN GOING EAST ROLLED THROUGH STOP SIGN. HE T-BONED US SQUARE IN BOTH DRIVER SIDE DOORS, ROLLING US OVER TWICE, LANDING BACK ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR. OUT OF 7 AIRBAGS ONLY ONE DEPLOYED. THE AIR BAG THAT DEPLOYED WAS ON THE PASSENGER SEAT ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF WHERE THE IMPACT OCCURRED. I HAVE THE CAR, IT HAS BEEN UNTOUCHED OTHER THAN TOW TRUCK COMPANY AND IS LOCKED IN MY PARENTS GARAGE, AS WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT OR NEXT. WE HAVE TONS OF PICTURES. MY CAR WAS HIT HEAD ON, THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT FELLED TO HOLD AND ALL THE SLACK CAME LOOSE CAUSING THE PASSENGER TO HIT THE DASH. THE AIR BAGS FELLED TO DEPLOY. THE PASSENGER COULD HAVE BEEN REALLY HURT OR WORSE, COULD HAVE WENT THROUGH THE WIND SHIELD. CONTACTED FORD MOTOR AND WOULD GET A WRITTEN RESPONSE IN SIX WEEKS. RECEIVED A PHONE CALL A FEW DAYS LATER TELLING ME TO WORK WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO GET IT REPAIRED. I ASKED TO BE COMPENSATED FOR DRIVING THIS CAR FOR SEVEN YEARS WITH AN DEFECTED SEAT BELT WITH I PURCHASED NEW. FORD SHOWED NO INTEREST IN THIS ISSUE. *TR

I HAD DIFFICULTY OPENING DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, THE HANDLE WOULD "STICK OR CATCH". I WOULD HAVE TO RELEASE AND TRY AGAIN, SOMETIMES THIS WOULD SOMETIMES I HAD TO REPEAT THE PROCESS BEFORE IT WOULD OPEN. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED ALONG WITH ANOTHER ISSUE THAT WAS RESOLVED. I WAS TOLD DOOR HAD NO PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED ON AND OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS. THIS PAST SUNDAY I WENT TO ENTER CAR AND ALMOST PULLED DOOR HANDLE OFF AS IT SEEMED TO RELEASE FROM EQUIPMENT IT WAS ATTACHED TO. I NOW CANNOT OPEN THAT DOOR AND HAVE TO ENTER THROUGH PASSENGER DOOR. MY SON WAS INVOLVED IN A 4 CAR ACCIDENT, HE WAS THE THIRD CAR IN THE ACCIDENT. THE FIRST CAR CLAIMS THAT ANOTHER CAR AHEAD OF HER STOPPED SHORT AND TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR SHE SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES CAUSING THE SECOND CAR TO HIT HER IN THE BACK. MY SON COULDN'T STOP IMMEDIATELY SO HE HIT THE SECOND CAR IN THE BACK., THEN THE FOURTH CAR HIT [XXX] ON THE BACK WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO DENT THE WHOLE HOOD AND BROKE THE RADIATOR AND CAVE THE FRONT BUMPER INTO THE MOTOR. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE. MY SON HAD TO GO IN THE AMBULANCE SINCE HIS CHEST WAS HURTING AND HIS NECK GOT STIFF AND SORE THAT HE COULDN'T MOVE IT. HOWEVER I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T ENGAGE EVEN WHEN MY SONS CAR GOT HIT WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO DENT HIS WHOLE FRONT END. MY CAR WAS IN A SINGLE VEHICLE ACCIDENT AS WE HIT A POWER POLE HEAD ON GOING AT LEAST 50 MPH. I WASN'T THE DRIVER. AT IMPACT BOTH THE DRIVER AND MYSELF HAD OUR HEADS CRASH INTO THE DASHBOARD. THE DRIVER SMASHED HIS HEAD INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND I HIT THE AREA ABOVE THE GLOVE BOX. MY HEAD ALSO HIT THE PASSENGER DOOR. THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED COMPLETELY TO THE GROUND. MY CONCERNS ARE THAT WITH AN ACCIDENT OF THAT MAGNITUDE, NOT A SINGLE AIRBAG DEPLOYED IN THE CAR. ALL 4 PASSENGERS RECEIVED MULTIPLE SEVERE INJURIES. I'M AWARE THAT IN SOME SITUATIONS AIR BAGS CAN MAKE THINGS WORSE, BUT IN THIS CASE I'M SURE THAT THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED AND WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER THAN US VIOLENTLY SLAMMING OUR HEADS AND FACES ONTO THE DASHBOARD AND STEERING WHEEL. I'M ALSO INTERESTED IN SEEING WHY THE SEAT BELTS DIDN'T CONSTRICT US FROM MOVING THAT FAR FORWARD. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT IT TOOK MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO SUCCESSFULLY CLOSE THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 91,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THIS IS FOR A FORD FOCUS ZX5 (4-DOOR HATCHBACK). AT 90K MILES PASSENGER BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY BROKE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY AND COST $90. NOW THE DRIVERS BACK DOOR LOCK IS BROKEN. IT WILL NOT WORK MANUALLY OR ELECTRONICALLY. MY CHILDREN ARE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR WHETHER THE CAR IN PARK OR DRIVE SINCE THE ENTIRE LATCH AND LOCK ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. PAID FOR THE DOOR TO BE CHECKED AND THE REPLACEMENT PART AND LABOR IS APPROX. $350. DOOR LOCKS SHOULD NEVER FAIL AND IN MY CASE BOTH BACK DOORS HAVE FAILED. *TR

DRIVER SIDE FRONT AND REAR DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT WORK WITH REMOTE, WITH THE KEY, OR MANUALLY FROM THE INSIDE. PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCKS WORK AS THEY SHOULD. ANYONE CAN GAIN ENTRY TO THE VEHICLE AT ANY TIME. A REAR PASSENGER, ESPECIALLY CHILD, WOULD BE AT GREAT RISK. THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON ISSUE WITH THIS AND PREVIOUS YEARS OF THE FOCUS. I WAS TOLD OVER THE PHONE BY A FORD TECHNICIAN THAT THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE, BUT OTHER COMPLAINTS SHOW NECESSARY REPLACEMENT OF LATCH AND LOCK ASSEMBLY. *TR

12-26-2012 I WAS ON ROUTE 77 IN AKRON,OHIO WHEN I SLID ON ICE AND SNOW, MY CAR STARTED SPINNING AND AN SUV GOING NORTH AND MY CAR CRASHED. I SPUN INTO THE LEFT LANE WHERE A CADILLAC SUV WAS DRIVING NORTH AND HE HIT THE DRIVERSIDE FRONT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. MY CAR MAY BE TOTALED. FRONT DRIVERSIDE HEADLIGHT IS GONE, TRANSMISSION WAS PUSHED BACK AND HOOD OF CAR IS BENT. MY AIRBAG DID NOT GO OFF. I CAN NOT EVEN "CHILD LOCK" IT. IN ADDITION, ON TUESDAY NIGHT I WAS ROBBED OF ALL MY CHRISTMAS PRESENTS THAT WERE IN THE TRUNK OF MY CAR BECAUSE THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK AND SOMEONE ACCESSED MY CAR THROUGH THE REAR DOOR AND POPPED THE TRUNK. 3 OF 4 DOORS HAVE NOW BROKEN ON MY 2007 FOCUS, DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM AS WHAT WAS RECALLED ON THE 05 MODEL -- THE DOORS WILL NOT LATCH AND/OR LOCK. THE DOOR MECHANISM IS THE SAME FOR 2000-07, SO I'M NOT SURE WHY 07 WAS NOT RECALLED AS WELL. I PAID THE DEALER OVER $1000 TO FIX THE FRONT DRIVER AND BACK PASSENGER DOORS IN 5/12, AND NOW IN 7/12, THE BACK DRIVER DOOR IS DOING THE SAME THING -- WHEN YOU GO TO SHUT IT, IT JUST POPS BACK OPEN, AS THE LATCH DOES NOT CATCH. I HAD TO DRIVE HOME FROM MY BABY SHOWER LAST NIGHT WITH THE REAR DOORS TETHERED TO EACHOTHER TO KEEP THE DOOR FROM FLAPPING OPEN WHILE I DROVE DOWN THE ROAD. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP, AS WELL AS FORD CORPORATE, AND HAVE BASICALLY BEEN TOLD IT'S NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND I AM ON MY OWN TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, BECAUSE MY CAR IS "TOO OLD" (JUST 5 YEARS FROM MFG DATE) AND HAS "TOO HIGH MILEAGE" (NOT THAT THE DOORS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MILEAGE) FOR FORD TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE OF CHEAP, FAULTY PARTS AND POOR WORKMANSHIP. THIS PROBLEM IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET, AND IS CLEARLY NOT ISOLATED TO MY VEHICLE. FORD SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE IGNORED THIS PROBLEM, WHICH COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO IT'S CUSTOMERS (JUST IMAGINE IF THE LATCH HAD STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DOING 70 MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY!), AND NEITHER I NOR ANYONE IN MY FAMILY WILL EVER BUY ANOTHER FORD! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE AIR BAG MAY NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DOOR LATCH FOR THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE BROKE AND HE COULD NOT GET EXIT FROM THAT DOOR. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
ONE OF THE REAR DOORS WILL NOT LOCK. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED US THE MOTOR NEEDED REPLACED. THIS WAS SHOCKING NEWS SINCE THE CAR HAS RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE COMPARED TO THIS TYPE OF NEEDED REPAIR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FLOOR BOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT DIDN'T LOCATE WHERE THE FAILURE INITIATED THAT CAUSED THE FLOOR BOARD TO BE WET. THE VEHICLE WASN'T REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,301 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,543.

WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH OR HIGHER THE VEHICLE WOULD SHIMMY BACK AND FORTH. ALL FOUR OF THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE HAVE BEEN REPLACED SEVEN TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A SET OF TIRES WOULD ONLY LAST ABOUT 10,000 MILES. A FORD SALES PERSON TOLD THE OWNER THAT THE VEHICLE PROBABLY " FELL OFF OF THE TRUCK" AND MIGHT HAVE A BENT FRAME. THE FAILURE HAD BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER TIME. FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL NOT BUY THE VEHICLE BACK SINCE IT HAD OVER 60,000 MILES ON IT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 5,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
