On June 22 myself and my wife were pulling out of the Food Lion Parking Lot. As we proceeded out to the main Road the gas pedal stuck. The car kept accelerating and know matter what I did I could free the gas pedal. Because of that we hit 3 cars in the intersection. Our car literally exploded putting Myself and my wife in the hospital .My wife has had 3 surgeries for a broken pelvis.She is still in serious condition.Myself I suffered 3 broken ribs and a lacerated liver. Ford should be held accountable for our terrible pain and suffering.?

The contact owns a 2010 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the RMP increased and revved causing the vehicle to crash into an unoccupied vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. No injuries were sustained. The contact stated there was a minor scratch on the front of her vehicle. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened, and advised the contact to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 14,000.

ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING AND WILL NOT RESTART. I SUSPECT THAT IT IS RELATED TO SIMILAR ISSUES DRIVERS ARE HAVING WITH THE EVAP CANISTER PURGE VALVE IN OTHER MODEL YEARS: "THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE MAY MALFUNCTION AND CREATE EXCESSIVE VACUUM IN THE FUEL VAPOR MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, WHICH CAN RESULT IN THE ENGINE STALLING WITHOUT RESTARTING. DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE AND REPLACE THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE AS NEEDED. IF THE VALVE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, DEALERS WILL ALSO INSPECT AND REPLACE THE CARBON CANISTER, FUEL TANK AND FUEL DELIVERY MODULE AS DETERMINED TO BE NEEDED. ALL REPAIRS WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE TO RESOLVE THE CONCERN."

MY YELLOW WENCH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON,I WAS STOPPED AT A 4 WAY CITY INTERSECTION AND WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR WOULD NOT PICK UP ANY SPEED. I WAS STUCK WITH TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. I HAD TO GO THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AT IDLE SPEED PULL OFF THE ROAD, TURN THE CAR OFF AND WAIT A FEW SECONDS THEN RESTART IT. I WAS THEN ABLE TO DRIVE IT AND THE YELLOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON.THE YELLOW LIGHT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON BEFORE AND I HAD GOODYEAR AND AUTO ZONE CHECK IT ON THEIR COMPUTER AND IT CAME UP WITH CODE P2135 THROTTLE SENSOR. THE GUY AT AUTO ZONE TOLD ME TO ENTER THAT CODE ON UTUBE AND SEE WHAT OTHER PEOPLE DID TO FIX THE ISSUE. THERE ARE MANY STORIES ON YOUTUBE ETC REGARDING THIS ISSUE. IT SEEMS TO BE A WIDELY KNOW ISSUE AND ON ANOTHER FORD CAR THEY HAD A RECALL FOR IT. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY KEPT IT FOR A FEW DAYS,THEY TOLD ME SINCE THEY COULD NOT GET THE YELLOW LIGHT TO COME ON THEY CAN NOT TELL WHAT THE ISSUE IS AND THEREFORE NOT FIX IT? IT IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IT IN THIS CONDITION.

WHENEVER I START MY CAR, THE RPM'S ARE BETWEEN 2-3 AND IT TAKES A COUPLE MINUTES TO REACH THE NORMAL IDLING RPM RATE. THE ENGINE ALSO MAKES CLICKING NOISES AND IS LOUDER THAN USUAL AND JUST DOES NOT SOUND RIGHT. AND PREVIOUSLY, MY CAR HAS RANDOMLY STALLED AND JUST TURNED OFF WHILE THE BATTERY STAYED RUNNING WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN OR JUST IDLING AT A STOP LIGHT. MOSTLY, MY CARS ENGINE JUST TURNS OFF WHILE RUNNING IT IN THE DRIVEWAY IN THE MORNING WHILE THE BATTERY STAYS ON. VEHICLE STALLED. TRIED TO RESTART IT, WOULD NOT FIRE UP. IT THEN CAUGHT ON FIRE ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY (I-87N, EXIT 17/MOREAU) VEHICLE WAS IN GOOD WORKING ORDER, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR OTHER INDICATION OF TROUBLE, TEMPERATURE GAUGE NEVER SHOWED ANY PROBLEM. NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELATED TO OTHER FORD ENGINE FIRES (DUE TO OVERHEATING/LOSS OF COOLANT) OR WHAT EXACTLY CAUSED IT. INSURANCE DID NOT DO AN INSPECTION (I OWNED THE CAR OUTRIGHT AND ONLY HAD LIABILITY COVERAGE) AND FORD TOTALLY BLEW ME OFF. HAVE PICTURES, BUT THEY LOOK LIKE ANY OTHER CAR WITH AN ENGINE FIRE.

VERY DANGEROUS. WHEN YOU COME TO A STOP IT SHUTS OFF. THE PERSON BEHIND YOU THINKS YOUR GOING TO PROCEED AND YOU DON'T DO TO CAR SHUT OFF IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS POSITION YOUR IN. I DID READ THAT THERE ARE MANY OF THESES MYSTERY PROBLEMS WITH THESES VEHICLES AND FORD CANT EVEN FIGURE IT OUT. IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH MANY THAN WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN CORRECTED BY FORD. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY CONTROL FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COMPUTER SYSTEM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 5,000.

AS SOME DEAL WAS APPARENTLY MADE BETWEEN THE MANUFACTURER OF THE VEHICLE AND THE GOVERNMENT AGENCY RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSURING MY SAFETY IN ORDER TO MAXIMIZE COMPANY PROFITS AT MY EXPENSE I AM NONE THE LESS MAKING A REPORT. *TR

I FIRST STARTED TO NOTICE A PROBLEM ABOUT 2 YEARS AFTER OWNING THIS CAR. BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP. ONE DAY AFTER AN OIL CHANGE I WAS SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO SPUTTER AND DIE OUT. I REVVED THE ENGINE AND ONCE I STARTED TO MOVE IT DIDN'T SEEM TO BE AN ISSUE. I TOOK IT INTO FORD AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE A/C UNIT CIRCLING ON AND THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. I THOUGHT IT WAS WEIRD SINCE THIS WAS NOT SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED SINCE DAY ONE, BUT INSTEAD STARTED HAPPENING AFTER 2 YEARS OF OWNING THE CAR. I WENT BACK AND FORTH WITH THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE WAS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THE GUY THAT WAS WORKING ON MY CAR TOLD ME AT THAT POINT THAT HE THOUGHT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND AT THAT POINT IT WAS STILL COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY BUT THAT IF HE WERE TO REPLACE IT AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE ONE THAT CAME OUT OF MY CAR, I WOULD BE CHARGED FOR IT. SO, BEING SOMEONE THAT DOESN'T HAVE AN EXTRA $700 LAYING AROUND, AND BELIEVING THE DEALERSHIP, I CHOSE TO GO ON DRIVING MY CAR AS IT WAS. TODAY WAS THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY, GOING CLOSE TO 60 WHEN MY CAR DECIDED TO TURN OFF TODAY. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED 5, YES 5 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS SLOWLY TURNING A CORNER AND MY CAR JUST DIED. COMPLETELY DIED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, AND OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STARTED MY CAR AGAIN. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS NEED TO BE FILED BEFORE ACTION IS TAKEN????? I DRIVE APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR EACH WAY TO WORK AND BACK. DURING THIS TRIP I AM SPEND A LOT OF TIME ON TWO LANE MAJOR ACCESS ROADWAYS WITH SPEEDS OF 55 MPH. DRIVING AT A STEADY 60 MPH THROUGHOUT MOST OF MY TRIP, I HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND THE ORANGE WRENCH THAT SIGNIFIES "LIMP HOME MODE" CAME ON. SINCE HALF OF MY TRIP IS ON ROADS THAT ARE RURAL IN AMENITIES, I WAS UNABLE TO LIMP TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP OR AUTO PARTS PLACE THE OFFER TESTING SERVICES. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD BE DONE UNDER A ROLL AS IT IS A 5SPD. THE CAR RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY AND RAN PERFECT THE REST OF THE WAY HOME (ABOUT 25 MILES). THIS VEHICLE RAN FINE FOR THREE MORE WEEKS AND THEN BEGAN DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. ONE OF THE THINGS I NOTICED THE MOST IS THAT IT DOES NOT SEEM TO DO THIS OVER 60 MPH AS ONE DAY A WEEK I AM TRAVELING AT MORE HIGHWAY SPEEDS (70 ISH) AND IT HAS NEVER DONE THIS UNDER THAT TYPE OF LOAD. THIS HAD BEEN AN OFF AND ON OCCURRENCE SINCE APRIL, YET HAS BECOME MORE COMMON. I BORROWED A SCAN TOOL FROM MY NEIGHBOR, DROVE THE CAR WITH IT PLUGGED IN, AND TODAY CAME UP WITH TWO CODES IN LESS THAN 11 MILES OF DRIVING. P2135 AND P2111 WHICH WHEN I CONTACTED MY FORD SERVICE TECHNICIAN CAME OUT TO BE THROTTLE BODY CODES. TO DATE IT HAS HAPPENED 27 TIMES WHILE DRIVING, HAS NOT LEFT ME STRANDED, YET, BUT HAS CAUSED RAPID DECELERATION IN SOME HEAVY TRAFFIC. CAR DOES RESET ITSELF AND RUNS FINE FOR A WHILE RIGHT AFTER, HOWEVER I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD BECOME MUCH MORE OF A HAZARD AS TIME GOES ON. CURRENTLY HAS 74,500 MILES ON CAR. *TR

MY SON WAS DRIVING IN THE CAR POOL LANE WHEN THE CAR CAME TO AN ABRUPT STAND STILL. IT TURNS OUT THE COMPRESSOR FAILED AND THREW ITS PARTS ALL OVER THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT DAMAGING PARTS OF THE ENGINE. WHEN THE ENGINE FAILED, HE LOST BRAKING AND STEERING ABILITIES. COMPRESSORS DO NOT LAST FOREVER. HOWEVER, WHEN A COMPRESSOR QUITS WORKING THAT SHOULD BE THE EXTENT OF THE FAILURE. THIS COMPRESSOR FAILED AND BASICALLY CAME APART. THE CAR NOT WORKING IN THE MIDDLE OF A CAR POOL LANE PUT MY SON AND HIS WIFE IN DANGER AS THERE WAS NO WHERE TO GET OUT AND NO WAY TO MOVE THE CAR. *TR

WHILE DRIVING AT AROUND 15 MPH, MY CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT WASN'T ON THE GAS. I LOOKED AT MY DASH TO CONFIRM CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ON (IT WASN'T) AND NOTICED THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. IF I DIDN'T TOUCH THE GAS OR BRAKE THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE UP TO 30 MPH AND STAY CONSTANT AT THAT SPEED. I RODE THE BRAKES TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER. THEY INSPECTED THE CAR AND DETERMINED THE ISSUE WAS THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR, AND SAID I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE THROTTLE BODY. COST WAS $400 FOR THE PART AND $230 FOR LABOR. ON MARCH 5TH, 2013 I WAS TRAVELING HOME AT 65 MPH AND THE CAR JERKED FOR A BRIEF MOMENT AND NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. TRAVELED ANOTHER 20 MILES AND AGAIN IT JERKED THIS TIME THE CONTROL MODULE/TRANSMISSION LIGHT (WRENCH ICON) CAME ON AND THE CAR BEGAN TO GO INTO LIMP MODE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE FREEWAY AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. AFTER A FEW SECOND STARTED IT BACK UP AND RESET THE COMPUTER. WAS ABLE TO GET BACK ON THE FREEWAY AND MAKE IT THE NEXT 30 MILES HOME AND ANOTHER 10 MILES THE NEXT DAY TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH NO ISSUES. I WAS INFORMED ON MARCH 6TH THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BAD AND HAS TO BE REPLACED. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE 2010 FORD FOCUS HER IN READING THE OTHER COMPLAINTS. CURRENT MILEAGE ON THE CAR IS 78,000 BUT ENTIRE ENGINE WAS REPLACED AT 58,000 MILES (UNDER WARRANTY DO TO A TIMING FAILURE AT 65MPH DESTROYING THE MOTOR!!! *TR

I HAVE A 2010 FORD FOCUS THAT HAS A "RAW GAS SMELL IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AND IN THE TRUNK" AREA. THIS SMELL IS NOT CONSTANT, AT TIMES WE SMELL IT FOR SEVERAL HOURS AND THEN AT OTHER TIMES NO SMELL. BUT MOSTLY WE SMELL RAW GAS. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT TWICE. THEY COULD SMELL THE FUMES, WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN, BUT COULD NOT FIND WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT THERE FOR A COUPLE DAYS TO BE COMPLETELY CHECKED.. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT COOLANT WAS EMITTED THROUGH THE AIR CONDITIONING DUCT AND LEAKED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE CAUSED ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS IN THE VEHICLE. A REPRESENTATIVE WAS SENT BY THE MANUFACTURER TO INSTALL A COOLANT FAN MOTOR ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE INSTALLATION, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. WHEN THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE WENT IN REVERSE. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AGAIN, THE CONSUMER HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE SEAT BELT UNBUCKLED. THE COOLANT THAT CAME OUT OF THE AIRDUCTS ALSO REACHED THE INTERIOR FLOOR AND BEHIND THE CONSOLE. OTHER ISSUES WITH VEHICLE ARE THE TIRES THAT HAVE ALWAYS LOOKED WORN, WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THE VEHICLE WOULD ACCELERATE, RPMS WOULD INCREASE AND ENGINE REVS, TOXIC AND BURNING WIRE ODORS, EXCESSIVE HEAT FROM THE ENGINE, METAL GRINDING SOUNDS FROM UNDER THE HOOD, VIBRATING AND ROUGH RIDING, THE TRUNK OPENS ON ITS OWN, COMPRESSING SOUND WHILE AIR CONDITION IS RUNNING, WINDOWS WERE ICING ON THE EXTERIOR OF DRIVER AND PASSENGER WINDOWS, AND RUST ON THE IGNITION. FOCUS WOULD LOSE RPM'S WHEN IDLING, WOULD ALMOST STALL. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIRST SAID IT WAS DUE TO TANK BEING TOPPED OFF AND SAID IT WAS CORRECTED. PROBLEMS STILL EXISTED SO TOOK BACK 2 MORE TIMES AND FINALLY SAID IT WAS A SENSOR. REPLACED AND WORKED FINE FOR COUPLE OF YEARS. NOW IT IS HAVING SAME PROBLEM, SEEMS THE SENSOR FOR THE IDLE IS NOT MADE VERY WELL. HAVE APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED TO TAKE IN FOR REPAIRS. *JS
