While driving, the electric power steering went out. I purchased this vehicle on Aug 15 2025 and the Carfax report did not have any information pertaining to an issue with EPAS. To have this repaired will cost me over $3k which I was not prepared for. Being that other Ford vehicles have this EPAS recall, shouldn't a recall be made on the 2013 Ford Focus as well.
The vehicles power steering assist has failed and there are active recalls from the same manufacturer and year but not my specific VIN.
Power steering malfunction. Wheel not working on low temperature.
Electrical Power Steering. While driving the steering suddenly locked up. There was no prior indication. Upon having a Master Mechanic check the vehicle, it was stated that it is a common problem seen by mechanics and after researching online searches, the Ford Focus vehicles from 2010-2014 have experienced the same issue. This is an absolute hazard. The cost to repair will be close to $4, 000. I am requesting that an immediate recall she be mandated by Ford. This was a close call for me on a main Freeway.
Power steering assist pump stopped intermittently, than stop completely

My Ford Focus has a Steering Assist Fault. It failed in October 2022, and now I'm having to pay for replacement of the system because there is no recall on it for the Focus, unlike other models.
The intermittent power steering issues are now permanent and it is extremely difficult to turn the wheel.

The steering wheel wants to lock up as you make a turn either left or right
Electric power steering goes out without any warning. I took my car to the dealership to get rotors and tire rods put on.Go pick up my car, soon as I pull off the lot get down the road my car is pulling to the pulling to the right. I keep driving, it's pulling to the left. I took the car back and told them my car is doing something weird. The tech gets in the driver seat and I get in the passenger seat. We driving and he said yeah that is weird. Now, when I took my car there for repairs, it wasn't doing this. They do some testing and they tell me my Electric power steering is going out. Without any warning.I don't know if they did something to it or it just went out. It's a safety hazard because there was no warning light or anything. That's an accident waiting to happen.
The power steering randomly fails (it was raining each time) making it difficult to control the car. It lasts from 2-15 seconds.

I have a 2013 Ford Focus Titanium with 92k miles and have been experiencing problems with my electric steering rack. It’s making noises when turning the steering wheel. I have not had it replaced yet as I fill this something that should recalled and covered through Ford. It has not locked on me yet but this is something that should be recalled and fixed as I’m hearing multiple ford owners are experiencing the same issue.

A few times i have been driving, or sometimes just started my car to drive and my steering would be hard. Contacted Ford and was told that was normal. I Was driving a couple months with everything working properly and suddenly the Electronic steering is gone. Nearly caused an accident with my grandchildren in the vehicle. I was fortunate enough to be able to get to the side of road without getting hit.
Power steering assist failure. On the freeway. Hard to steer. Then when I made it home (thankfully) turned into the driveway, turned the car off. Then when I tried to start it later, the wheel had completely locked up. Couldn't move the car. If it would have done that on the freeway, I would have died.
Steering rack failed while driving. Leaving parking lot steering started to make a grinding noise and almost immdeiatly locked in place when on the road.
I’ve seen multiple recalls on the electric power steering with ford and recently I lost all power steering in my 2013 Ford Focus SE and know it’s been a problem for other fords like mine. My vehicle has 119,000 miles. I want to know why there are recalls for other ford cars for the exact same issue but not the 2013 focus

The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with steering control module failure. The steering control module and rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

- Steering rack and pinion failed while driving and is currently being repaired at dealership - Safety was out at risk due to the malfunctioning occurring while car was being driven. Steering became extremely difficult and felt as if wheel was locking-up. - Car was taken to dealership twice regarding the malfunction. First resolution was updating the power steering control module software. Steering was fixed for one week before the issue re-appeared while driving. During second visit at the dealership, it was determined that the steering rack and pinion will need replacing. - There was no warning messages or symptoms prior to the malfunctioning occurring.
On September 25, 2021 around 11:30pm, I was driving and the steering wheel happened to lock out of nowhere and I’m not able to turn correctly. It was a very dangerous situation and I couldn’t turn and the car was going straight. I was very close to get into a car accident. I bought car without any issues and I’ve been taking good care of it and out of nowhere the steering wheel locked on me and gave me a signal saying “steering loss stop safely” i went to advanced parts to have it tested on a Sunday and they said I needed to replace my catalyst system efficiency which I was aware of that needed to replaced but nothing else showed besides the code they gave me P0420. The vehicle hasn’t been Inspected or component by a insurance company or others.
As I was driving down the road my power steering went out. I pulled over and tried to turn the car off and on and had no luck. I then got a warning that said my power steering malfunctioned. I do not know what I would have done if I were on the interstate as I had been 2 minutes earlier. I cannot believe I am alive. This is the second time something like this has happened. The other time I just had my car stall out on the interstate as I drove down it. That time it was a transmission issue.

HOWEVER, I HAVE HAD ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH MY FORD FOCUS THAT I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT MANY MORE PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME OR SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THEIR FUEL TANK COLLAPSING AND NEEDING TO REPLACE MOST OF THE COMPONENTS IN THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. I HAD THE PURGE VALVE REPLACED AS AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE AS MY EXTENDED WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED, HOPING THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. I WAS INFORMED BY THE MECHANIC THAT TO FIX MY CAR COMPLETELY, IT WOULD MOST LIKELY NEED A NEW FUEL TANK, FUEL PUMP, FUEL FILTER, FUEL LINE AND OF COURSE THE PURGE VALVE ( WHICH I HAD REPLACED ). MY CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND I DO NOT KNOW HOW OR WHY I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. I HAVE SEEN MANY POSTS DESCRIBING THE SAME SITUATION ON CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AND KNOW OF SOMEONE LOCALLY WHO I KNOW PERSONALLY WHO HAS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2013 FORD FOCUS. WHEN DRIVING, MY ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. FROM TIME TO TIME, MY OIL LIGHT WILL COME ON AS MY ENGINE STALLS OUT AND TRIES TO 'DIE' AND I CAN PRESS THE GAS TO 'REVIVE' THE ENGINE AND KEEP IT FROM SHUTTING OFF. THIS REPAIR OF THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS ESTIMATED TO COST $2,000 TO REPAIR AND I JUST DON'T HAVE IT. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST INDICATOR HAD BEEN COMING ON AND OFF A DIFFERENT INTERVALS. WHEN I WOULD COME ON THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK UP AND GO INTO MANUAL MODE AND WOULD HAVE TO ME MUSCLED WHILE DRIVING UNTIL THE INDICATOR WHEN OFF. MOST OF THE TIME THIS WOULD HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS ON A STREET IN A DENSELY POPULATED SUBURB NEIGHBORHOOD. THE INDICATOR CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE WENT INTO MANUAL MODE AND CRASHED INTO A NEIGHBORS CAR. FORTUNATELY ENOUGH NO ONE WAS IN THE VEHICLE BUT BOTH CARS WERE DAMAGED. THE DRIVER SIDE REAR QUARTER PANEL OF THE NEIGHBORS' CAR THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AND QUARTER THE TIE OUTER TIE-ROD IS SEVERELY DAMAGED.

THE COST ASSOCIATED WITH THIS KNOWN ISSUE THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAS PROVEN THROUGH VARIOUS SOURCES IS UNETHICAL. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE OF THE POSSIBLE MONETARY LOSS TO MYSELF, AND HIGH RISK NATURE OF THIS ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE POSSIBLE INJURY.

I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER WHERE THEY WANTED OVER TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE POWER STEERING. IF ANYONE IS DRIVING THIS CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AND THIS PROBLEM OCCURS, I BELIEVE THE PROBABILITY OF A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR FATALITY WOULD BE VERY HIGH. I WAS TOLD BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT THE POWER STEERING IS ELECTRONIC SO WHEN IT GOES, IT BECOMES UNSTEERABLE. ALARMINGLY, WHEN SPEAKING WITH DEALERSHIP AND THE FORD AREA REGIONAL MANAGER THEY DID NOT REGARD THIS AS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. IN FACT, THEY DID NOT BELIEVE THIS WAS A DEFECT AS IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTEE. I ASKED IF THIS WAS NOT DEFECTIVE, HOW COULD THIS OCCUR AT 28,300 MILES? THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS COULD HAPPEN IF IT WAS HIT BUT ADMITTED THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF THIS. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THIS CAR HAS NOT EVEN RUN OVER A POT HOLE. SINCE NO ONE IS TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY, I NEED TO DOCUMENT THIS PROBLEM AS ONE THAT CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF NOT RECALLED OR CORRECTED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. HE SAID THAT SEVERAL WARNINGS FLASHED ON THE MESSAGE CENTER BUT HE DID NOT CATCH THEM AS HE WAS TRYING TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC SAFELY. ONCE HE CAME TO A STOP, HE NOTICED THAT THE ORANGE "I" IN A BOX REMAINED LIT WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING. I WENT TO PICK HIM UP AND VERIFIED THE LOCKED STEERING, NOISE, AND WARNING LIGHT. WE LEFT THE CAR OVERNIGHT AND RESEARCHED POTENTIAL PROBLEMS BEFORE HAVING IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC. I CAME ACROSS SEVERAL FORUMS AND COMPLAINTS THAT SOUNDED VERY SIMILAR TO MY CAR'S ISSUES. MANY OF THESE CARS HAD WORKED AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING. SO THE NEXT DAY I WENT AND STARTED THE CAR WITH NO ISSUES AND HAD NO WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATORS. HOWEVER, AS I PULLED OUT THE STEERING WAS STILL VERY TIGHT AND JERKY BUT I WAS ABLE TO MAN-HANDLE THE CAR ENOUGH TO MAKE IT TO A LOCAL DEALER. NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER CAME ON THIS TIME. I WAS INFORMED THAT I MUST REPLACE THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE AND HAVE IT REPROGRAMMED TO DETERMINE IF THIS IS THE ONLY PROBLEM AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $450. I HAVE AUTHORIZED THIS REPAIR. THE DEALER SAID THAT AFTER THIS REPAIR, I MAY ALSO NEED TO REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR AND HAVE THE CAR ALIGNED AT AN ADDITIONAL COST OF APPROXIMATELY $1500. MY CAR IS AT 89,700 MILES.

ALL IN NEED OF REPAIR 6 HOURS AFTER CAR WAS FIXED VIA A BRAND NEW BATTERY) I AM AT 103,000 MILES. RECEIVED A "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" NOTIFICATION WHILE MID-TURN TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. IT FELT AS IF I'D HIT A SLIPPERY SPOT IN THE ROAD OR HAD HIT A SMALL BUMP ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE. THERE WAS NO GRADUAL DECLINE IN STEERING PERFORMANCE, JUST A SUDDEN FAILURE. I CAN ONLY BE THANKFUL THAT I WAS NOT TRAVELING AT A HIGHER RATE OF SPEED. ONE DEC 24 2015 DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY MY CAR HAD FULL LOSS OF STEERING, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE PEDALS STOPPED WORKING AND I NEARLY CRASHED THE CAR. AFTER PULLING OFF THE FREEWAY I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND IT WOULD NOT START BACK UP. MOMENTS LATER I COULD START THE CAR, I RAN A VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT TO PROVE TO FORD THAT SOMETHING HAD HAPPENED. I THEN DROVE MY CAR WHICH WAS STUCK IN 1ST GEAR TO MY DESTINATION. THE STEERING WAS VERY HEAVY, THE PEDALS WERE NOT WORKING WELL AT ALL. AFTER LEAVING IT PARKED FOR 30 MINUTES I TURNED THE CAR ON AND THE CHECK ENGINE ILLUMINATED, BUT THE PROBLEMS HAD CLEARED. THIS FEATURE IS VERY DECEIVING, AS SOME MAY ASSUME THE CAR IS NOW SAFE. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR, AND THEY SIMPLY REPROGRAMMED THE CAR. I CONTINUE TO THIS DAY TO HAVE TRANSMISSION ISSUES, AND HAVE HAD THE CLUTCH ONLY REPLACED ONE TIME DISPITE BRINGING IT TO THEM CONSTANTLY FOR REPAIR. IN JANUARY OF THIS YEAR MY CARS CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION FAILED, THE CAR SEEMED TO MAKE A LOUD ACCELERATION NOISE AND THEN BECOME FORCED INTO 1ST GEAR. THIS MADE STEERING HEAVY OR HARD, & THE PEDALS NOT WORK WITH THE USUAL WEIGHT ON THEM. I DROVE MY CAR TO FORD LIKE THIS, STUCK IN 1ST TO SHOW THEM FINALLY THAT THE WHOLE TIME I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG. MY VARIOUS OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS VEHICLE INCLUDE REGULAR ACCELERATION BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR, THERE IS THE STANDARD SHUDDER. IN ADDITION, MY VISITING FAMILY BECAME STUCK IN THE BACK SEAT WITH INDOOR LATCHES NOT WORKING - THE CHILD LOCKS WERE OFF. I FEEL AS THOUGH I WAS SOLD A "DUD" CAR & THAT THE SALESPERSON LIED TO ME ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. IF I HAD KNOWN IT WAS AN "ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED MANUAL CAR" I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED IT. ON THE EVENING OF SEPT. 8, 2016 WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON LEE JACKSON MEMORIAL HIGHWAY IN FAIRFAX, VA AT ABOUT 45 MILES PER HOUR, POWER STEERING FAILED WITH NO WARNING. POWER ASSIST CUT OUT AND A WARNING INDICATOR CAME ON. THIS RESULTED IN AN IMMEDIATE CHALLENGE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS FORTUNATE AN ACCIDENT DID NOT OCCUR GIVEN THE IMMEDIATE, DRAMATIC INCREASE IN PHYSICAL EFFORT REQUIRED TO STEER. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY RETURN HOME THAT EVENING WITH DIFFICULTY, AND I BROUGHT THE CAR TO TED BRITT FORD THE FOLLOWING MORNING. I WAS TOLD THAT A CONTROL MODULE HAD FAILED, BUT SINCE IT WAS INTEGRAL TO THE STEERING "GEAR" THE ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1,600. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON RECENT FORDS WITH STEERING PROBLEMS, BUT MY MODEL, YEAR, AND ISSUE ARE NOT COVERED. THIS IS CLEARLY A WIDESPREAD SAFETY ISSUE. HAD A SMALLER ADULT OR A CHILD BEEN DRIVING, THIS EVENT COULD HAVE HAD A VERY BAD END.

I PARKED THE CAR AND TURNED IT OFF, WHEN I TURNED IT BACKED ON THE ERROR HAS CHANGED TO COMPLETE SYSTEM FAILURE, AND THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL.

STOPPED IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY, WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN THE VEHICLE FLASHED A WARNING WHICH SAID "HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE" AND THE ENGINE DIED COMPLETELY. I LOST ALL POWER TO THE WHEELS AND LOST POWER STEERING, WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER, WHERE THE CAR WOULD NOT START. ALL WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED TO COME ON, INCLUDING SEATBELT, CHECK ENGINE, TRACTION CONTROL, ETC. THE CAR INDICATED IT WAS IN "DRIVE", IN SPITE OF THE FACT THAT I HAD THE GEARSHIFT IN PARK. IT WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS OR ALLOW ME TO START THE ENGINE. AFTER SITTING FOR 30-40 MINUTES WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK, THE CAR SUDDENLY APPEARED TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. I DROVE HOME, AND 10 MINUTES LATER, WHILE PARALLEL PARKING, THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN: BACKING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND ATTEMPTING TO PULL BACK OUT, GOING UPHILL, THE EXACT SAME SEQUENCE OF EVENTS OCCURRED ("HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE", LOSS OF POWER AND STEERING). THIS TIME THE VEHICLE COASTED BACKWARDS INTO ANOTHER CAR. NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE. THE 2013 FORD FOCUS CANNOT BE TRUSTED TO BE DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE READ MANY REPORTS ONLINE OF OTHER DRIVERS HAVING IDENTICAL OR VERY SIMILAR ISSUES WITH HILL START ASSIST/TRANSMISSION/TRACTION CONTROL ERRORS, LOSS OF POWER, LOSS OF POWER STEERING, AND INABILITY TO SHIFT GEARS OR RESTART THE CAR, WITH THIS ERROR SOMETIMES HAPPENING *WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS* RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. 2013 FORD FOCUS ST HAS STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65+ MPH MULTIPLE TIMES, IN ADDITION TO ON -RAMPS AND WHILE COMING TO A STOP, RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. MULTIPLE TIMES HAS STALLED WITHOUT GIVING A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, MEANING THE DEALER WOULDN'T LOOK AT IT DESPITE BEING UNDER WARRANTY. ENGINE'S IDLING SPEED IS WILDLY ERRATIC BEFORE AND AFTER STALLING EVENTS. HAVE BEEN INCREDIBLY LUCKY SO FAR BECAUSE THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND A HUGE SAFETY RISK. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT MIDNIGHT 2/8/2014 AT ABOUT 75MPH WHEN MY CAR STARTED TO BECOME STIFF IN THE STEERING AND LOST SPEED RAPIDLY. STEERING INTERMITTENTLY GETS 'STICKY' IN CENTER POSITION AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE TRACKS REASONABLY WELL BUT AS IT DRIFTS SLIGHTLY IN THE LANE IT IS NORMAL TO MAKE SMALL CORRECTIONS. IN EVERY VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED BEFORE THIS REQUIRES NO EFFORT OR THOUGHT. IN THIS ONE IT TAKES CONCENTRATION TO AVOID LOOKING LIKE I'M DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE. IN OTHER WORDS, IT RESISTS NORMAL MICRO-CORRECTIONS AND TENDS TO TWITCH AND OVER-CORRECT WHEN IT FINALLY RESPONDS TO THE STEERING ADJUSTMENT. THAT RESULTS IN MY VEHICLE MOVING A FOOT INSTEAD OF AN INCH WHICH IS NOT A LOT OF FUN AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY MENTIONED IT HAS ELECTRONIC STEERING AND THAT THIS IS NORMAL AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW OF ANY TSB'S ON THE VEHICLE YET. APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES INTO TRIP TO WORK FROM HOME THE POWER ASSIST STEERING ON MY 2013 FORD FOCUS FAILED AT WHICH POINT THE VEHICLE BECAME SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFICULT TO STEER. LUCKLY I WAS ON A STRAIGHT PATH, HAD THIS HAPPENED IN A TURN, AN ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY OCCURED. AT THE POINT WHERE THE POWER ASSIST STEERING FAILED A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARDS LED DISPLAY THAT READ SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT THAT LOSE OF POWER ASSITED STEERING DETECTED. AFTER THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED, THE VEHICLE'S (!) LIGHT REMAINED LITE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHO AFTER LOOKING AT IT STATED THAT THE TECHNICIAN STARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT RAN PERFECTLY. NO ISSES WITH THE STEERING AT ALL, BUT THAT THERE WERE SOME "CODES" LOOGED IN THE VEHICLE'S SYSTEM THAT THEY WERE UNFAMILIAR WITH AND WERE TRYING TO REACH THE "FORD HOTLINE" FOR FURTHER HELP. *TR

DRIVING STRAIGHT ON THE HIGHWAY ~50MPH THE CAR SEEMED TO BE DRIFTING TO THE RIGHT AS THOUGH BEING BLOWN BY HEAVY WINDS, ALTHOUGH THERE WAS LITTLE/NO WIND THAT DAY. I APPLIED A TYPICAL, SLIGHT ADJUSTMENT TO THE LEFT BUT THE STEERING WHEEL RESISTED MY INPUT, AS THOUGH SOMEBODY WAS HOLDING ONTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE RIGHT, AFTER A SPLIT SECOND, THE OPPOSING PRESSURE RELEASED AND THE WHEEL OVERCORRECTED TO THE LEFT FOLLOWED BY THE IDENTICAL RESPONSE WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT BACK TO THE RIGHT. IT CONTINUED TO DO THIS EVERY MILE OR SO, FOR APPROXIMATELY 9 MILES, UNTIL I TURNED OFF THE HIGHWAY. AT LOWER SPEEDS (CITY DRIVING) THE STEERING IS COMPLETELY NORMAL. THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED ON THREE DIFFERENT STRETCHES OF HIGHWAY IN THE JACKSONVILLE AREA. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT LANES, CHECKING THE TIRE PRESSURE, AND I HAD THE DEALERSHIP CHECK IT BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. APPLYING LIGHT/STEADY/EVEN PRESSURE IN THE DIRECTION OF THE DESIRED CORRECTION, WITHOUT APPLYING PRESSURE BEYOND THE POINT WHERE YOU FEEL THE RESISTANCE SEEMS TO HELP PREVENT THE OVERCORRECTION PROBLEM. ON 9 JAN, WHEN CROSSING UNEVEN LANES ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO CONSTRUCTION, THE WHEEL PULLED TO THE RIGHT MORE THAN YOU'D EVER EXPECT UNDER THESE CONDITIONS AND I ENDED UP HALF WAY INTO THE NEXT LANE. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CARS IN THAT LANE OTHERWISE IT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN A COLLISION WITHOUT A DOUBT. THAT WAS FOLLOWED BY AN OVERCORRECTION TO THE LEFT, AND AGAIN BACK TO THE RIGHT. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN BELOW 40MPH BEFORE THE RESISTANCE IN THE STEERING EASED UP. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY THAT I AM VERY FAMILIAR WITH; I HAVE TRAVELED IT WITHOUT INCIDENT ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK FOR THE PAST 6 YEARS, AND I WAS PREPARED FOR THE TRANSITION BETWEEN THE TWO UNEVEN LANES.
