While has had the transmission recall work done x 2 and was told by the mechanics that to recync “drive it like you stole it” when you can prior to the last recall fix in Feb and just had the cpv recall replacement done in February it was not driven a lot and I am in my late 60’s so I do not drive it like a teenager. During that recall repair they said I needed to replace the engine bolts ( I would think would be related due to the “drive it like you stole it” to resync the transmission but had to pay for out of pocket and found a transmission bolts also needed replaced that I wasn’t told by the ford service guy. Recently in driving it would thunk when stopping and pinched forward and had major excelleration delay when trying to turn in traffic causing safety issues. Shifting was erratic and would stay in like 1st or 2nd when should have been going to 3/4th gear.Took in to service at ford again as the wrench showed up on dash finally thinking it was the auto shift transmission to be told I had a complete computer failure to replace at my cost of approx $2400. Isn’t this part of what controls the sync in the transmission in the first place? Isn’t this part of what they should have done on the other recalls like the 18v-735 or should it not be covered as the reprogramming apparently failed and at some point destroyed the computer module system?
Be reaching out and taking my car to Ford for recalls within the time limit told me they did not see no code I replace it it breaks down put me and my daughter at risk on the highway unsafe and now I spent all my money and can’t afford another car because of Ford not Doing their job with the policy and the warranties the recalls I’ve been going through so much trying to fix this car and now I have to take a complete loss because it’s finally broken down and no one wants to take the car
My car has been to the shop twice for the TCM issues, and both times, in 2016 and 2021, the shop performed adaptive learning and cleared the codes, instead of replacing the faulty part. Now, the TCM has completely broken and needs to be replaced. The car wouldn't start at the gas station suddenly. After rocking the car back and forth it did start, but wouldn't go when shifted into drive. It is apparently 2 months out of the extended warranty coverage and now, I have to pay $1,300+ for a repair?! This seems unfair. They knew they had a faulty part, they performed band-aid fixes, and now I am holding the bag.
Car running rough/jerky. Trouble accelerating, especially up hills, and following stops. On [XXX], car stalled on [XXX]. Dash light came on saying "transmission overheating pull over immediately". Door lock and windows dint work properly. Transmission not working appropriately or at . Randomly says transmission overheating or won't go in reverse
My 2014 Ford Focus is having problems with the engine. For starters is several occasions the car will start and not turn off when turning the key to the off position, the car will still stay on. I took it to the automotive parts store and the guy there had me turn the key off and disconnect the battery and that seem to turn off the car. After they had my car scanned with a computer and found lots of issues with. Car stalls and had check engine lights and also a transmission warning light on making it difficult for the car to drive. Recently water dripping inside the vehicle passenger side when the AC is turned on. The car also doesn’t unlock the doors from the inside have to open it for the passenger side.

I HAVE TWO RECALLS ON MY FORD FOCUS 2014. FORD REFUSES TO FIX THE TCM DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS. This TCM issue is a known issue with Ford. They issued recalls on this in 2015 and 2017 and extending the coverage in 2023. Please put this on the recall list as it has affected many people
The general information I have is my transmission is not working, and it causes the car to stall and jerk unexpectedly, it will be driving fine then aggressively slow down almost to a stop, then launch forward, which could cause an accident to the person in front of me or behind. When these events happen it’s on and off, and the stalling will follow multiple times during a driving period. The engine light will come on, and many mechanics we have talked to have said to either replace the transition or sell the car, and the transmission is the same price I paid for the car. It’s ultimately unfortunate because it is a great car, low miles, in great condition, and I am young into college with big loans and can’t afford to fix this car.
I have been trying to get my car fixed but they will not honor the recalled part. I took it to another garage bc Ford is saying it's my clutch but I seem for my own eyes the only code was for the tcm. And then Ford told me they do not honor another mechanics diagnostics.
It did the exact same thing it did in April! Driving in traffic this time. The jerking, and not wanting to excelerate... then jumps from drive to neutral doing 70 mph! On hwy 59! THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AT THIS POINT! MAKE FORD FIX THIS
I was driving my 2014 Ford Focus electric car sometime in 2023 and the system told me to immediately pull over for no reason. I was able to pull it over but it would not start again after turning it off. I let it sit and came back the next day since I needed to go somewhere and it started. The car then had issues starting and I tried to diagnose with the dealership and we ended up recharging the battery because it was low. It was a little more consistent but it died again but this time it would not turn over. I finally got the car to the dealership to diagnose and it took them over a month to do so. It seems the High voltage wire harness was bad and needed to be replaced. It seems that this should be a recall because it is a major component and even a safety issue since the car died while driving.
My 2014 Ford focus SE hatchback is having bad transmission codes throwing at me. Automatic transmission electrical system codes and transmission stuck in clutch A. I have 123,000 miles on it. I'm afraid to drive it as it being a electrical problem and I have my teenage son in the car with me. I'm afraid of a fire. Ford wants hundreds of dollars just to diagnose what 3 other mechanics have already diagnosed it. I have a picture of the codes. Ford knows about this problem but wants hundreds of dollars to tell me what I already know and then thousands of dollars to fix it.

The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission was not shifting as intended and the vehicle was shuddering while shifting between gears. The message "Transmission Overheated" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to a third dealer, Griffin Ford (1940 E Main St, Waukesha, WI 53186), where it was diagnosed and the transmission actuator was replaced. Additionally, the contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle with the ignition key, the vehicle failed to start at first attempt, and there was an abnormal clicking sound coming from the engine. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,661.

mY TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS IN TRAFFIC AND FORD DEALERSHIP SAID THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE .WHEN I GOT THE CAR BACK IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING. NOW THEY SAY IT IS UNDSER RECALL . THAT IT HAS BEEN FIXED.
This car has had the clutch fork, clutch and tcm replaced since ive owned it and continues to still produce the same scary issue erratically. When it's not throwing codes it's sticking in gears, shifting hard, accelerating on its own (( almost went through a drive through window when it did this last)) this car is going to cause an issue/wreck. I Will be driving yhis car and the focus looses power, no steering, no acceleration available during the main issue im addressing today. It will flash the engine light and the cluster will continue to flash for about 30 seconds and you have no choice but to stop or pull over. What's fascinating and scary each time , it throws different codes. Anywhere from one code to up to 13 codes. I now carry a code reader in my glove box. Took me one hour and 17 minutes to get 8 blocks home in a very small, non traffic, town four or five days ago. Sometimes you can clear the code(s) and be on your way right away until the next dreaded failure. Or sometimes as soon as you turn the car back on it goes right back into loss of power and throwing codes. Nothing particular sets this off, not heat or cold temperatures. Not running the heater or A/C. Not driving fast, slow or in-between. Not turning or driving straight. Not driving short distances or long distances. Nothing is the same to produce this issue. This was tested by not only myself, husband and two mechanics. Ofcouse each time the codes say something different, TCM,clutch,clutch forks, gas, you name it the code was thrown ,ect. Even after the money pit of fixing the supposed issue(s) we still continue to have the EXACT SAME VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. Ford should eliminate these cars, crush them so nobody else falls victim to these failing known issues they've produced.
The part that failed was the dual clutch. I was in traffic and my car did not want to accelerate after the stop it began to sputter then went to accelerate this happened more then once. It has been inspected and diagnosed for a worn clutch but I bought the car like that. No check engine light or anything has came on. I am financing this car and it sucks that I am not able to drive it if it was an emergency then I risk it and drive the car but the whole time I am scared because of the way it is struggles on the freeway and streets

CAR UNUSEABLE FOR THREE YEARS WITHOUT BECAUSE OF PARTS INAVAILABILITY: This type even happened mutiple times because of the transmission control module failure. The first sign of problems was shuddring and rough shifting beginning with about 30,000 miles on the vehicle Multiple trips to the Ford Dealerships resulted in Unsatisfactory action by Ford Motor company to repair the problem The result was safety problems like stalling and losing power steering and brake assist in traffic. It displayed multiple system failure warnings when it failed, Steering asist, Brake assist, ABS, transmission position light was in park while driving. We tried to get repairs done but they just kicked it down the road till we fought with the car to get 160,000 miles out of it because there was no other choice and they denied there was a problem. It was completely unserviceable beginning on the shown date because the clutch control and transmission control module have been faulty, It has started a few times but will not shift properly and the clutch is faulty because of the control module being bad. We paid to have the control module replaced when it became available, but the vehicle is not servicable because the clutch and flywheel are damaged from the module being faulty. This should have been a safety recall as soon as the problem was discovered, but it was hidden and the owners of these vehicles have had to deal with it over the last 10 years. Any of these cars on the road are just as dangerous as this one It.is still at the shop 4 months after they tried to patch it awaiting the determination of whether a clutch recall will fix it or not. These owners of these cars are driving time bombs if they are not able to react to the problems listed in traffic.

- Faulty windshield washer pump pushing liquid into the Body Control Module and harness - Damaged electrical communications communications controlled by the Body Control Module including: 1) functionality of the wipers resulting in obscuring the windshield from clear visibility of the road 2) vehicle will not reliably shut off after removing the key. It continues to run. 3) vehicle will not reliably shift into different gears due to the disruption of the electronic transmission signaling. 4) electrical system drains the battery after a few hours of sitting idle. - The problem has been identified by a dealership - A dealer has inspected the problem. - Washer pumps would intermittently function and then randomly would not.
I was parked and it was the first hot day and my car turned off then cut back on after an hour, it did that for the next two days which lead me to tow I.T back home. An auto shop said that my car needed a new pcm . When the car is about to stop it says transmission not in park n no light are on
One day as I was driving and sitting at a red light, that then turned green I was pushing on the gas but the car would not move. I placed my foot back onto the break put the car in park and then put it back in drive. The car then did pull off but very fast and kind of out of control. I felt like my safety was absolutely at risk because it continued to do this my entire way home stopping myself in traffic and jerking as I am driving. We did take the car to a shop which is where they told us it can be an electric problem somewhere in the transmission. At the time we couldn’t not afford to get any work done on the car. No the car hasn’t been inspected by the manufacturer or police or insurance. No warning lamps were on prior to these problems. The check engine light came on about 2-3 days later.

Our Ford Focus SE 4 door sedan has some electrical issues. Hesitation, stalling and shuddering are the safety issues we're concerned about. I've noticed other Ford Focuses have these issues but recalls don't list our cars VIN # This happened previously but dealership couldn't find anything.
On January 14, 2022, at approximately 5:20 P.M. my wife was traveling southbound on Pleasant Hill Road in Lafayette, California towards the freeway entrance when the Ford Focus Electric she was driving displayed a Stop Safely Now message and almost immediately thereafter lost motive power at the busiest intersection in the City of Lafayette. She was able to steer the car to the shoulder since she was in the right hand lane. The vehicle would not move and the steering wheel locked up. She called for assistance and I drove down and exchanged cars with her within approximately 15 minutes. After approximately 10 minutes of trying, I was able to get the vehicle to turn off and to turn on again without the Stop Safely Now warning and was able to return the approximately 1.5 miles to our residence. The sudden unexpected loss of motive power and loss of ability to accelerate is extremely dangerous and frightening and that danger can be extreme when traveling on roads without shoulders or in any lane except the right lane on a freeway.
The vehicle's engine continues to run after turning off and removing the keys. After the engine has stopped running it is also draining the battery.
The engine shut down at highway speed (62mph). At time we were travelling on a state highway at night and with inclement weather. The engine light came on and identified engine fault and service engine now. There was no prior indication of any engine malfunction. The problem was confirmed and repaired by Johnson Ford in Pittsfield Massachusetts. The wiring harnass on the intake manifold was melted and exposed wiring that when wet became a dead short for the engine.
I'm being persecuted by Ford Motor. I purchased a 2014 Ford Focus SE Jan. 26th 2018 from Rocco Degregorio at 6701 Essington Ave. told no recalls or safety issues.The car was brought back next day, driving improperly. Many problems found, was told all fixed.The car malfunctioned April 23rd 2018 accelerating forward disabling me for life! UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. Speakers making kids popping crackling ear piercing sounds even when car is shut off and keys are out car locked?! What's making this happen and is the car still safe to be in let alone drive?
The stereo/radio emits a very loud popping/cracking noise. The noise happens whether the car is turned or off. This puts the driver and passengers in danger because having a loud noise randomly happen while driving can cause the driver to jerk the wheel as a reflex/reaction. This can cause an accident on the road, putting the driver and passengers at risk, along with other vehicles and it’s passengers at risk. The manufacturer has not acknowledged the issue, and no guidance has been issued for owners. There are no warning lights or messages in place. This happens randomly and is very scary.
There is a loud electrical crakle sound coming from the speakers. It also does it when the car is off. It's very startling and I believe it's dangerous.

Jan.26th 2018 I purchased a 2014 Ford Focus SE from Pacifico Ford. I was told by salesman No Recalls and No safety Issues. The car was on the lot with new inspection stickers. I was given a clean car fax. I was deceived. The car was returned the next day for driving improperly. It gave too much gas or not enough, was shuddering and sticking, steering issues, drifted to the right, and steering wheel had to be crooked to park to adjust the wheels, and car had a burn smell. Ford found transmission problem, engine leaking oil, clutch problem, cpu issues, failed road test and leaky seals. A week later, I was told all was fixed as new. April 23rd 2018 the car malfunctioned disabling me for life. While I was parking, the car accelerated forward, slammed into a barrier, roared up in the air, slammed down a slope and into a tree. Malfunction codes from an auto collision center were it was towed were achieved, one of which is an acceleration malfunction code. No air bags deployed, no warning. I found out after the malfunction there were many safety issues and recalls that I was not told of day of sale. Ford, a once trusted company, disabled me for life.

MY 2014 DOESN'T HAVE ALL THOSE FANCY SAFETY FEATURES LISTED BUT MY HORN DOESN'T WORK. I NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE THAT THE HORN HAS JUST STOPPED WORKING. I THOUGHT IT WAS A BLOWN FUSE BUT TURNS OUT IT'S ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THE CAR ON TOP OF THE PREVIOUS RECALLS IT HAS HAD. I CAN'T EVEN RENEW MY CAR REGISTRATION UNTIL THIS IS FIXED AND IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD. I CAN'T EVEN WARN DRIVERS WHEN THEY ARE ABOUT TO CRASH INTO ME ON THE HIGHWAY. CLUTCHES ARE GOING OUT DUE TO THE TCM THAT WAS RECALLED ON THE VEHICLE. 3. HORN HAS DECIDED TO STOP WORKING ALONG WITH CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL DUE TO A WIRING ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. FUSES HAVE BEEN CHANGED ENSURING THAT IT IS A WIRING ISSUE. 4. HAZARD LIGHTS AS WELL AS HALF THE BUTTONS ON THE DASH INCLUDING RADIO, ETC. HAVE ALSO DECIDED TO STOP WORKING DUE TO A WIRING ISSUE IN THE VEHICLE. NO HAZARDS MAKING IT A RISK AND UNSAFE TO PULL VEHICLE OFF OF ROAD IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. 5. FORD DEALERSHIP THAT CAR WAS TAKEN TO STATED ALL RECALLS WERE COMPLETED BUT WHEN VIN IS ENTERED THROUGH FORDS WEBSITE IT STATES THAT ALL RECALLS ARE INCOMPLETE. FORD SENT ME A NOTICE FOR REPAIRS ON TRANSMISSION STATING IT WILL BE ALMOST $1400 TO REPLACE CLUTCHES IN TRANSMISSION. THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE CLUTCHES IF THERE WAS NEVER ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE TO BEGIN WITH. REPAIRING THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT BE ON THE OWNER OF THESE VEHICLES AND FORD SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR THE REPAIRS TO AN ISSUE THAT WAS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO CORRECT FROM THE BEGINNING AND WAS NOT CORRECTED IN A TIMELY MANNER.
ONGOING ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE RELATED. VEHICLE WILL "STALL" WHILE IN MOTION OR WHILE POWERED ON BUT STOPPED AT A LIGHT FOR EXAMPLE. IT'S AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE SO THE CAUSE OF THE STALL IS UNCLEAR. VEHICLE WILL BE INOPERABLE FOR 1-10 MINUTES, INCLUDING POWER STEERING WHILE THE SYSTEM RESETS. THIS HAPPENS USUALLY AT SLOW SPEEDS OR WHILE STOPPED - IN REVERSE, CLIMBING HILLS, STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS. I GOOGLED MY SITUATION AND WAS STUNNED TO SEE HOW COMMON A PROBLEM IT IS. IN MY SITUATION THE WIRE HARNESS HAS CUT THROUGH FROM RUBBING ON THE MANIFOLD AND THERE IS OBVIOUS CORROSION TO THE WIRING. THIS CAUSES SPORADIC LOSS OF ACCELERATION AND HAS CAUSED THE ENGINE TO NOT START UPON TWO OCCASIONS. LOSS OF ACCELERATION WHEN TRAVELING CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND ACCIDENT CAUSING. AND THE COST TO FIX THIS MANUFACTURING FLAW SEEMS DEPENDENT ON HOW MANY WIRES ARE INVOLVED, AND IF ANY CIRCUITS WERE ACTUALLY FRIED AND NON-WORKING AS A RESULT OF THE WIRING ISSUE. I WAS QUOTED UPWARDS OF $1000 FOR THE FULL WIRING HARNESS ALONE WITH NO LABOR (WORSE CASE SCENARIO). I AM ALSO UNABLE TO PASS NYS INSPECTION UNTIL THE ISSUE IS FIXED AND THE CODES ARE CLEARED. I HAVE SPOKEN TO A REPRESENTATIVE FROM FORD AND WAS INFORMED THAT NO PROGRAMS ARE IN PLACE AT THIS TIME TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE. FORD HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN AWARE OF THIS FLAW FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW. IF I HAD BEEN MADE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, IT COULD HAVE BEEN EASILY CORRECTED BEFORE IT BECAME DESTRUCTIVE AND DANGEROUS AND A MAJOR REPAIR JOB. IN THE COURSE OF LESS THAN A MONTH, THE CAR'S PROBLEM PROGRESSED FROM INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUES THAT LEFT ME STRANDED TO A FULL-ON FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM. THE CLUTCH OF THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPLACED AND THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED IN JUNE 2018. ON MAY 30TH, 2019, THE CAR WAS TAKEN IN DUE TO TRANSMISSION STARTING ISSUES. THE LIGHTS WOULD TURN ON WHEN TURNING THE KEY, BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT CRANK. THE CAR WAS RETURNED AFTER THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. ON JUNE 11, 2019, THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME ISSUE. CAR WOULD NOT START AND TOOK ABOUT 50 TRIES AFTER HAVING BEEN STRANDED FOR SEVERAL HOURS. CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME SEVERAL DAYS LATER BECAUSE NOTHING WAS FOUND. ON JUNE 19, 2019, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE GOING ABOUT 60 MPH. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE TO PASS SOMEONE, AND MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. WHEN I LOOKED DOWN, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING, MY BATTERY LIGHT WAS ON, AND MY OIL LIGHT WAS ON. THE CAR DOWNSHIFTED AND STARTED TO RAPIDLY DECELERATE. ENGINE SHUT DOWN, AND CAR WAS ROLLING TO A STOP. I HAD TO RUSH TO THE RIGHT LANE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, AND I MANAGED TO ROLL MY WAY UP THE EXIT RAMP, WHERE MY CAR SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY AT THE TOP OF THE EXIT RAMP. CAR WOULD NOT RESTART, AND I WAS STRANDED THERE FOR OVER AN HOUR IN A DANGEROUS PLACE AND SITUATION. I CALLED A TOW, AND AFTER TRYING TO START MY CAR INTERMITTENTLY FOR OVER AN HOUR, THE ENGINE FINALLY STARTED. I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE CHECKED OUT AGAIN.THE SAME ISSUE WITH TRANSMISSION CONTROL HAS PERSISTED, RESULTING IN ME HAVING TO TAKE THE CAR IN ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS IN ABOUT TWO WEEKS. IT STARTED OF FROM INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUES TO THE CAR SHUTTING DOWN COMPLETELY WHILE TRAVELING AT A HIGH SPEED. THIS CAR HAS DONE NOTHING BUT PUT ME IN DANGER, AND I HAVEN'T EVEN PAID IT OFF YET.

I HAVE ALSO LOOKED AT MULTIPLE ONLINE FORMS WHERE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH FOCUSES RANGING FROM 2012-2015 ARE ALSO HAVING THIS ISSUE AND ARE NOT GETTING HELP FROM FORD AT ALL. ALL OWNERS AGREE THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED AND IT SEEMS LIKE WE ARE GETTING PUSHED TO THE BACK-BURNER BECAUSE IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, WHEN IT INDEED IS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE MANUFACTURER HAD A PERMANENT REMEDY. THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON, THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND TESTED, THEY NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM. I ALMOST CRASED AT THE STOP SIGN TRYING TO STOP, THE BRAKES GOT STUCK. I HAD THE CAR FOR ONE MONTH, AND FILLED A LEMMON LAW COMPLAINT ON LINE, AND THEY INSISTED I HAD TO WAIT A PERIOD OF TIME, BECAUSE I JUST PURCHASED THE CAR. AFTER THE 3RD, TIME VISTING THE FORD REPAIR SHOP, IN ONE MONTH TIME, I WAS DISAPPOINTED AND WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM AT A KIA DEALERSHIP, THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK , ONLY OFFERED TO TRADE THE FORD FOCUS IN BACK TO THEM AND BUY A KIA CAR FROM THEM, I LOSS MY DOWN PAYMENT, AND GOT STUCK WITH A ROLL OVER FEE OF 4,500 FROM THE REMAINING BALANCE OF THE FORD FUSION ADDED ON TO THE NEW KIA. AND A HIGHER CAR PAYMENT. THEY SOLD E A LEMON, AND HAD A WARRANTY AND STILL REFUSE TO FIX THE CAR. THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD AND THEY SOLD THE FORD TO THE AUCTION TO GET IT OFF THEIR HANDS. I WAS STALLED FOR 30 DAYS BELIEVING THEY WOULD FIX THE CAR, THE LEMON LAW COULDN'T HELP ME AFTER I FAXED ALL THE PAPERS TO THEM. THE FORD FOCUS WAS ON THE RECALL LIST, AND I DON'T HAVE THE CAR NOW, IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN GET CREDITED FOR THE $4.500 IN A LAW SUIT FOR BUYING THE FORD UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE CAR RIGHT.

I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. WHEN I PRESSED IT AGAIN, THIS TIME WITH MORE FORCE, IT SHUTTERED AND JERKED SO HARD IT FORCEFULLY THREW MY HEAD BACK AGAINST THE SEAT! MY 5YR OLD DAUGHTER THAT WAS IN THE BACK SEAT WAS CRYING UNCONTROLLABLY, SCARED BECAUSE WE WERE ALMOST HIT BY A TRUCK! THE SEATBELTS IN THE BACKSEAT OF MY CAR, HAVE CAME UNBUCKLED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE MY 2YR OLD AND 5YR OLD CHILDREN WERE IN THEIR CARSEATS. TOOK TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) MODULE WHICH THEY REPLACED AND RETURNED MY CAR. SAME NIGHT CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. TOOK OVER AN HOUR TO GET THE CAR CHARGED JUST TO DRIVE TO DEALERSHIP 3 MINUTES AWAY AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 1500 RPM AND WOULDN'T ALLOW ME TO GO OVER 15 MPH. GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD WORKER WITNESS A TEST DRIVE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THEN PARKED WITHE WORKER STILL INSIDE AND SHE WAS ABLE TO WITNESS THE CAR NOT SHUTTING OFF AFTER KEY REMOVAL. NOTIFIED TODAY FROM SERVICE DEPARTMENT MANAGER IT IS NOW THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) AND WILL BE $2900 PLUS TAX TO REPLACE THE BCM AS WELL AS THE WIRE HARNESS THAT HAS MELTED NOW DUE TO THIS ISSUE. FORD HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE NO PROGRAMS OR RECALLS TO HELP COVER THESE COSTS. AFTER RESEARCH I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS AND ISSUE WITH OTHERS THAT HAVE THE SAME VEHICLE AND FORD ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE 2015 FORD FOCUS FOR THIS SAME BCM ISSUE BUT OF COURSE MY VIN (2014 FORD FOCUS SE HATCHBACK) IS NOT INCLUDED. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION AND COMPUTER OF MY CAR IN THE 49 MONTHS THAT I HAVE OWNED IT.

I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT AFTER PATRONIZING FORD BY PURCHASING 2 EXPLORERS PRIOR TO THIS FOCUS, THAT SUCH MECHANICAL ISSUES WOULD EXIST.

UNPLUGGED CONNECTOR C2280G DRAW GOES AWAY. CHECKED ALL CONNECTORS AT BCM, FOUND C2280D WITH WASHER FLUID IN THE CONNECTOR AND CONNECTOR BURNT FROM HIGH RESISTANCE. CHECKED CONNECTOR C137 AT THE WASHER PUMP FOUND THE WASHER PUMP LEAKING INTO CONNECTOR C137 AND PUMPING ALL THE WAY TO THE BCM ALONG CIRCUITS CRW23 AND CRW24. CONNECTOR C2280D IS NOT SERVICED AS A PIGTAIL, SO A COMPLETE HARNESS WILL BE NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR. A BCM AND WASHER PUMP WILL BE NEEDED TO RESOLVE THIS CONCERN IN ITS ENTIRETY

MY HUSBAND PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE SIX WEEKS AGO AND WE ARE NOW FACING A $1400 REPAIR AND A $300 DIAGNOSTIC AND TOW. THE SCREEN SHOWED 'NOT IN PARK', STARTING SYSTEM FAULT AND IT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL. IT THEN BEGAN TO START AND STOP WHENEVER. THE GROUNDS WERE CHECKED, THE STARTER, THE ALTERNATOR, THE FUSE AND ORHERS. MY HORN WOULD SOMETIMES GO OUT FOR DAYS, UP TO WEEKS. WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR, IT WOULD EVENTUALLY FLASH 'NORMAL MODE'. IT'S SO MANY THINGS GOING ON HERE! I FEAR ALL THE TIME WITH THIS CAR. I HAD IT TOWED TO A NEARBY FIRESTONE, WHICH RAN A DIAGNOSTIC WHICH REVEALED THAT A PORTION OF THE ENGINE WAS DEFECTIVE AND HAS RESULTED IN SPLICING OF WIRES, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, #14-0215 BUT THAT FOR IS REFUSING TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE STILL IS UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE SEIZED AND EFFECTIVELY STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT WARNING, AND I'M LUCKY THAT NO ONE WAS HARMED. SEE ATTACHED INVOICE FOR REPAIR INFORMATION.

JUNE 2, 2017: THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT WHILE REPROGRAMMING THE BCM, BODY CONTROL MODULE, THE COMPUTER WAS WIPED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY ATTEMPTED TO REPROGRAM IT AGAIN BUT DID NOT WORK BUT THAT THEY HAD OPENED A TICKET WITH FORD'S TECHNICAL SUPPORT. THE DEALERSHIP PROVIDED A LOANER CAR TO ME FOR THE WEEKEND. JUNE 6, 2017: THE DEALERSHIP CALLED TO TELL ME THEY STILL HAD NOT RECEIVED A FIX FROM FORD AND THAT FORD KNEW OF THE ISSUE AND HAD REPLIED THAT THEY WOULD PROVIDE AN UPDATE WITHIN 7 BUSINESS DAYS. I WAS TOLD TO KEEP THE LOANER CAR UNTIL THE WORK WAS COMPLETE. I CALLED FORD'S SERVICE LINE TO ATTEMPT TO ESCALATE THE ISSUE. I WAS PROVIDED THE CASE NUMBER, AS REFERENCED, AND TOLD TO TALK TO THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE MANAGER. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT UNFORTUNATELY THERE WAS NOTHING HIS TECHNICIANS COULD DO BUT TO WAIT FOR A FIX FROM FORD. JUNE 15, 2017: I CONTACTED FORD SERVICE LINE AGAIN AND THE CASE WAS ESCALATED TO A REGIONAL MANAGER. THEY INFORMED ME THAT FORD DOES NOT HAVE A FIX AND THAT FORD HAS NO TIMELINE FOR A FIX. THE VEHICLE IS STILL NON-FUNCTIONAL. FORD HAS TOLD ME THEY HAVE NO FIX AND NO TIMELINE FOR A FIX. THE DEALERSHIP IS WAITING ON FORD TO PROVIDE A FIX AS IT'S A COMPUTER ISSUE AND THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO SOLVE IT.

IN ADDITION TO THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM THE CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL ARE ALSO NON-RESPONSIVE OR WILL CONTROL SOMETHING OTHER THAN WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR (EX: VOLUME + AND - CHANGE THE RADIO STATION OR END A CALL). IN ADDITION TO THIS, THE SYNC SYSTEM WILL EITHER NOT CONNECT TO THE PHONE VIA BLUETOOTH OCCASIONALLY OR IT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE THE DEVICE. KEEP IN MIND THAT THE PHONE CONNECTING IS A GALAXY S7, SO I KNOW IT IS COMPATIBLE. THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN ON GOING AND WERE ADDRESSED IN THE INITIAL TRANSMISSION REPAIRS BUT THEY WERE NOT RESOLVED. THE SECOND TRANSMISSION ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN ON THE ANNOTATED DATE.

SHORTLY AFTER THE CAR BEGAN TO LOSE ABILITY TO MOVE WHEN ACCELERATING, THE ENGINE RPM'S WOULD REV AND VEHICLE HAD LITTLE POWER TO MOVE. FORD GARAGE REPLACED CLUTCH AND DID PROGRAMMING. ON THE WAY HOME FROM THAT REPAIR, OUR CARE SUFFERED THE SAME SYMPTOMS IT WAS BROUGHT IN FOR. IT IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AND WE HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN WHAT WE WILL GET BACK.

HAD TO PULL OVER VERY QUICKLY TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER SAFELY. MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING WITH AN ENGINE FAULT MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED. FORD'S ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE DOESN'T EVEN COVER GETTING YOUR CAR OFF OF A TOLL ROAD AND LIVING IN NJ THEY ARE HARD TO AVOID. THE DEALER SAYS THAT THAT IS THE WAY THE CAR DRIVES. THEY WRITE UP THE PAPER WORK VERY VAGUE AND NEVER PUT THE CORRECT DESCRIPTION FOR THE ISSUES. THE CAR GOES IN AND OUT OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT - PROGRAMMING UPDATE. WHILE ACCELERATING IN TRAFFIC YESTERDAY EVENING A WARNING APPEARED ON THE DISPLAY PANEL "STOP SAFELY NOW". I WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE ROADWAY IMMEDIATELY DUE TO TRAFFIC AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHILE APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE ENGINE OPERATING INDICATOR (A GREEN CAR WITH ARROWS POINTING FORWARD AND BACK) WAS NO LONGER ON BUT ACCESSORIES ON THE CAR WORKED PROPERLY (E.G. HEADLIGHTS, POWER STEERING, ETC) I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF THE CAR WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL ENGAGED IN AN ATTEMPT TO RESTART BUT CAR WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I WAS ABLE TO EVENTUALLY PUSH THE CAR OFF OF THE ROADWAY INTO A PARKING LOT. THE CAR'S IGNITION TURNED OFF ONCE I WAS BACK IN THE VEHICLE AND THE DOOR CLOSED. IT LIMPED TO A STOP ON THE HIGHWAY THEN FLASHED "TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK P" BEFORE IT SHUT DOWN. AFTER CALMING MY NERVES JUST A BIT, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABOUT 4 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT (SLOWLY) TO THEM. I WAS ABLE TO SNAP A PHOTO SHOWING THE VEHICLE IN PARK DOING 65MPH WITH AN RPM OF 3500. HOWEVER, FROM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, THIS IS NOT "PROOF" IF THE ISSUE IS NOT DUPLICATED BY FORD DIRECTLY. SO TO DATE AT 19,970 MILES, THE VEHICLE HAS WENT OUT OF GEAR 4 TIMES. THE VEHICLE STOPPING ON A HIGHWAY BY GOING INTO REVERSE AND PARK IS NOT A SAFE CONDITION THAT COULD LEAD TO A CRASH.

I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE SUNROOF RESALES AFTER IT HAD LEAKED FOR OVER TWO MONTHS AND THE DEALERSHIP WASN'T ABLE TO FIND THE LEAK. THE FRONT END MAKES HORRIBLE NOISES WHEN DECELERATING. IT GRINDS AND WHINES AS IF SOMETHING IS ABOUT TO BLOW UP. I'VE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALER FOR ALL OF THESE CONCERNS AND ONLY ONE OF THEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED FULLY. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN MY PURCHASE.

IT FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO BE "RUN OVER," AND I'M NOT SO SURE THE TRACTOR-TRAILER DRIVERS COULD EVEN SEE ME. AT THE NEXT EXIT I IMMEDIATELY LEFT THE INTERSTATE AND PULLED INTO A GAS STATION, TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. TAKING OFF AND ACCELERATING FROM THE INTERSTATE EXIT TO THIS STATION WAS ACTUALLY VERY DIFFICULT. IT FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH ACCELERATION TO PROPERLY MANEUVER. I SPOKE WITH A LADY WHO SEEMED VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE PROBLEM, (WHICH ACTUALLY WORRIES ME BECAUSE THAT MAKES IT SEEM LIKE A COMMON ISSUE), BUT OFFERED NO SOLUTION. SHE ALMOST SEEMED SLIGHTLY "IRRITATED," AS IF IT WAS SOMETHING SHE HAD "EXPLAINED MANY TIMES BEFORE." SHE SAID "TURN THE CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES AND LET THE COMPUTER RESET. FORD FOCUS ST 2014 ON HOT / HUMID DAY WHEN YOU START THE CAR UP THE ENGINE REVS WILL DROP TO <500 RPM AND THE ENGINE WILL SHUTTER OR COMPLETELY STALL. IN ADDITION, WHILE TRAVELLING AT SPEEDS 10-20 MPH WHEN THE CLUTCH GETS PUSHED IN THE ENGINE WILL HUNT IDLE FROM XRPM AND DROP TO <500RPM RAPIDLY AND THE CAR WILL SHUTTER OR COMPLETELY STALL. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MY CAR DOWN THE ROAD AND HAD IT COMPLETELY STALL WHILE MOVING. IF THIS HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD OR INTERSECTION IT IS SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS. FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, BUT ARE NOT FIXING THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM UNLESS A SPECIFIC ENGINE CODE IS STORED IN THE COMPUTER. IT HAS BEEN PROVEN THAT THE ENGINE WILL STALL IN THESE SITUATIONS AND STILL NOT THROW AN ENGINE CODE, THUS, FORD WILL NOT PERFORM THE SERVICE. *TR

TROUBLE WITH THE DUAL CLUTCH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FROM THE FIRST DAY OF OWNERSHIP. THE CAR NOW HAS 6K MILES AND THE PROBLEMS PERSIST. THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS ARE EVEN WORSE DURING COLD WEATHER: THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS POORLY, ROUGHLY, MISSES SHIFTS, CHOOSES THE WRONG GEAR FOR THE VEHICLE SPEED, DISENGAGES AND SENDS THE ENGINE TO REDLINE THEN DROPS INTO GEAR WITH A BANG AND EITHER SLOWS THE VEHICLE WITH ENGINE BRAKING BECAUSE THE GEAR IS TOO LOW, OR LUGS THE ENGINE WITH NO ACCELERATION BECAUSE THE GEAR IS TOO HIGH. THE TRANSMISSION IS ALWAYS SHIFTING, AND SEEMS 'CONFUSED' AS TO WHAT GEAR THAT IT SHOULD BE IN. IN CITY DRIVING, IF I NEED TO SUDDENLY BRAKE, WHEN I RE-APPLY THE THROTTLE AGAIN, THE TRANSMISSION HANGS BETWEEN GEARS AND THE ENGINE REVS TO REDLINE THEN DROPS INTO GEAR AND CHIRPS THE TIRES. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO MAKES GRINDING NOISES WHEN CHANGING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. ALSO VERY SLOW TO DROP TO A LOWER GEAR WHEN THROTTLE IS PRESSED FOR QUICK ACCELERATION. TAKES ABOUT 2 SECONDS FOR IT TO DOWNSHIFT AND THEN ACCELERATE. ALSO, THE GEAR INDICATOR ON THE CONSOLE (PRNDS) DOESN'T LINE UP WITH THE SHIFTER OR ILLUMINATE TO SHOW WHICH GEAR IS SELECTED, SO IT'S DIFFICULT TO TELL WHETHER I'VE SELECTED REVERSE, NEUTRAL, OR DRIVE. IN ADDITION, THE DISPLAY ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THAT SHOWS THE GEAR SELECTION SOMETIMES TAKES OVER 30 SECONDS TO ILLUMINATE OR 'BOOT UP' TO INDICATE WHAT GEAR IS SELECTED. I OFTEN END UP IN NEUTRAL WHEN I THINK I'VE CHOSEN REVERSE OR DRIVE WHILE I WAIT FOR THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATOR TO 'BOOT UP'. THE DEALERSHIPS SAY THAT I HAVE THE CURRENT SOFTWARE, AND, "THEY ALL DO THAT." DANGEROUS, AND WILL PROBABLY ADD UP TO VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIRS AS IT CAN'T POSSIBLY BE RELIABLE UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. *TT

MY FORD FOCUS (2014) SHUTS OFF AT IDLE. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO GET FIXED TWICE. NOW THE DEALER HAS HAD MY CAR FOR A WEEK AND THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. ALSO I HAVE FOUND ON THE ST FORMS THAT THERE IS A LOT OF FORD ST OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

2014 FORD FOCUS ST WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION WHEN DECELERATING TO A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT (APPROX 20-10 MPH), AND ENGAGING THE CLUTCH TO COAST WITH THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, THE CAR WILL ALMOST STALL (DROPS TO ABOUT ~500 RPM) AND THEN THE ENGINE "CATCHES ITSELF" AND WILL REV TO 1000-1200 RPM BEFORE SETTLING BACK TO A NORMAL 700-800 RPM IDLE. THIS HAPPENS AT RANDOM, BUT "AC/ON" ALSO INCREASES LIKELIHOOD OF OCCURRENCES. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TRIP. I STOPPED COUNTING AFTER 12 EVENTS IN THE FIRST SEVEN DAYS. THE CAR ALSO "HUNTS" FOR IT'S IDLE SPEED (WITH A WARMED ENGINE) AND VARIES FROM 700-1000 RPM, APPARENTLY AT RANDOM. THERE IS ALREADY A FORD TSB FOR THIS, TSB# 13-09-07, BUT IT CAN ONLY BE ACCOMPLISHED IF AN ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN AND THROWS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT/CODE. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS COULD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AN ENGINE WHILE STOPPING NEAR OTHER MOTORISTS, LIKE THE RECENT GM IGNITION ISSUE, I BELIEVE FORD SHOULD RECALL ALL THESE VEHICLES. IT IS A 45 MINUTE REPAIR AND APPROX $8 DOLLARS IN PARTS TO REPAIR TWO "CRIMPED WIRE CONNECTIONS" IN THE MAIN WIRING HARNESS, (S132 & S133). THEY NEED TO BE SOLDERED, NOT CRIMPED (6 BARE COPPER WIRES OVERLAID TOGETHER AND CRIMPED). I HAVE BEEN TO TWO FORD DEALERSHIPS BUT THEY ARE UNDER STRICT FORD GUIDELINES NOT TO ACCOMPLISH THE TSB UNLESS THERE IS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT/CODE. I EVEN OFFERED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AND WAS TURNED AWAY BOTH TIMES. I BELIEVE IT IS BETTER TO ACCOMPLISH THIS TSB AND REMOVE THE CONCERN THAN TO WAIT FOR AN OWNER SAFETY ISSUE LEADING TO ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND AN ACCIDENT.
