I keep getting denied for warranty TCM had the code I did a report after it was I would be covered had proof of the codes and deny me for another service that’s under warranty pretty much just take my money send me out the way and then I get stuck on the highway from the problem in having to fix it myself
I’m pretty sure the tcm went out because the check engine light is on and it is shuddering and losing power randomly. Also will not go into reverse unless I shut car off.
I have a 2014 Ford Focus. For years, the car has been shaking when I slow down and speed up. I never really cared because it got me from point A to point B. But now it stalls and won't shift gears unless I go to high RPMS. The check engine light is on and a mechanic told me the transmission needs replaced. I have a DPS6 transmission and discovered that it is part of the class action lawsuit and extended warranty. I called Ford and they told me to write a letter to their office of general counsel. I am worried that is a stall tactic so I want to report it here. I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle.
My car RPM get stuck on 3 and begin to jerk while driving on the Highway.
On June 10th 2025 the engine light came on in my 2014 Ford Focus and I lost transmission function. The car was slipping out of gear, completely losing power and speed between first & second gear and third & fourth gear. I pulled into traffic before realizing the issue and almost got hit by two oncoming vehicles - one locked up their brakes to avoid hitting me, the other swerved into another lane which thankfully was empty. Slowing down was difficult, it was very hard to stop and I lost reverse gear. The overall driving experience was very rough and jerky. Driving 3 miles home I almost got rear ended two times due to loss of power between first & second gear. Driving 6 miles to the Ford dealership I almost got rear ended 1 time & 1 time I could not completely stop until I was halfway into a busy intersection. I had no ability to backup and traffic was completely blocked in one direction until I was able to safely cross the other 3 lanes of the intersection on a red light!! Prior to this incident & since I bought the car with 12,000 miles in 2020, it ALWAYS had rough transitions between gears & sputtering/brief loss of power when accelerating from stopped. I formerly had a 2013 Ford Focus which had these same issues so I figured that’s just how these cars drive with the Powershift dual clutch transmission. I had no idea that I should have been extremely concerned about the hard shifts & sputtering. I never received a single Customer Satisfaction Program letter from Ford about the clutch, leaking seals, or TCM warranty extensions and issues. If I had I would have brought my car in for service a long time ago. I am disappointed & dismayed that a recall has not been forced by the NHTSA. Ford has gotten away with putting unsafe vehicles on the road with little to no accountability. I, and dozens of others, could have been killed or severely injured while I was on the road in this unsafe car.
Unknown, The car refused to turn on one day and then started up again once I popped the hood. The car refused to go into reverse, I tried some reboot steps and the car started driving like normal, drove the car all the way from NV to NV, husbands new military station, took the car to the ford dealership and they assessed it was the tcm and that the car would be fine to drive again but they recommend another part for up keep, as soon as they replaced the clutch aculators the car started to have more issues than before letting me know it's worse than they thought something about the engine going out and they mentioned its why ford discontinued the dual clutch engine bc it was failing.

The contact was informed that a driver from Ford valet service drove the vehicle to the dealer for the vehicle to be diagnosed; however, the contact was unaware of the diagnostic result. Vehicle engine hesitates, runs rough and stalls at low speeds between 1st and 2nd gear. The passenger door latch isn't working properly and the door sticks and is unable to be properly opened from the inside of the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected (diagnosed) by Virginia Tire and Auto who found no codes and that the transmission is not the issue and advised during the call that there was an "open recalls" on the vehicle for these issues and to take it to Ford. I received a letter in the mail from Ford for this exact issue prior to me even setting up an appointment since I am the vehicles new owner. The vehicle is now with Ford and once driven (I was told that they did test drive the vehicle although its not stated on the receipt) are able to replicate the issue since you only need to push the gas pedal (every time you press the gas) to discover these issues but have refused to fix the issue because there are no codes/indicator lights on the dashboard even though the issue is easily replicated and IS the exact recall issue. I was told that the door latch was working (its not) despite the open recall on NHTSA for the latch and I was told that their SSSC (Special Service Support Center) was called for approval however my understanding from Ford Customer support is that when you call the SSSC its a simple yes or no question. If the issue is able to be replicated when driven the answer should be YES there is a problem, so that they can get approval to proceed. However my ticket/receipt from Ford does not state any of the above. They want me to pay for another diagnosis, $200 because there is no code/indicator light. If the issues are able to be replicated and are on Fords Customer Satisfaction Program 24N07 they should be fixing the issue. This is a major safety issue and the vehicle should not be driven in this condition as well as I should NOT have to pay Ford to fix a recall (multiple recalls) which they have refused to fix, stating no repair per recall.
This TCM issue is a known issue with Ford. They issued recalls on this in 2015 and 2017 and extending the coverage in 2023. Please put this on the recall list as it has affected many people

Transmission programming recall, clutch recall, fuel cap recall and many more recalls were not performed at ford dealership! Had to pay out of pocket at dealer for “labor” task was never performed at dealer for all recalls!

Car jerking and started to not move forward when step on gas pedal then had to pull over and stop car. Was on local road. Brought car to dealer and they found it was due to TCM mail notice saying this car year / model needs replacement, but they have ordered parts 6 months ago and none has been received nor do they know when they will receive. This would be covered by Ford. Dealer also said Clutch needs to be fixed, around $5,000, which dealer will not pay, we will need to pay. Dealer did not provide paperwork. My car is only 9 years old, 30,000 miles, and Dealer warned us not to drive car till the 2 problems are fixed because they are unsure when car is going to suddenly be volatile and cause major unknown problems
I was driving the 2014 ford focus and it slipped out of gear no warning lights when accelerating only rpm’s would go up the vehicle still out of gear I immediately put on my flashers and pulled to the side of the highway with cars going by and the vehicle would restart no go in or out of gear. I had it towed to the nearest dealership after pulling over and turning car off after I turned key back on the engine light was on red and stated transmission fault, repair immediately. It was very dangerous situation I was in four lanes of traffic doing 65 mph when the vehicle slipped out of gear with no acceleration. It completely stalled at 65 mph.
When driving the car will just shut itself down. We took the car to a Ford dealership in Sterling Colorado in October of 2021 and was told that there was a recall on the electronic control module, transmission control module and that due to Covid it would take up to 8 months for the part to come in. When we contacted the dealership at the end of the 8 month wait they stated that they couldn’t repair the car to take it to a different dealership in Wray Colorado . We were again told that it could take several months to get the part in, we waited for several months for the part and it still didn’t come in. We contacted Ford about the issue and they told us to take the car back to the first dealership and have them put it on the computer just to confirm that it was the electronic control module, transmission control module and it would be taken care of. We did that and now Ford is telling us that they won’t fix the car because they can’t get the part, they want us to pay for a new transmission at the tune of $8000.00 and said that since the car was over 80,000 miles and out of the original warranty they won’t cover the repair for a new transmission. The dealership said the only way to fix the car is to have a new transmission control module or a new transmission. The recall on the transmission module covers the car up to 150,000 miles and our car has under 127,000 miles on it. We have tried since 2021 to get this taken care of.

In 2018 a recall for the dual powershift clutch was repaired, now the TCM faulted out in the car while i was driving, i had an infant in the car and it died in the middle of a busy highway almost causing us to crash! I had to be towed, I called ford motor company to be told it was not under recall, only to find out that in fact it is, and their in a lawsuit currently for these problems. I work 2 jobs, Latham ford refused to even look at my vehicle for 2 months, i work, i cannot go without a car. The tcm is currently on a national backorder for thousands of people. I had no means of transportation for an entire month, it cost me hundreds of dollars for taxis and ubers. I found a replacement part on my own and had it installed yesterday. the manufacturer stated in the description, that the part was already programmed, it was not. It was misrepresented, and it cost me an extra $400.00 to have it programmed, and also the software needed to be updated to clear error codes in the tcm for it to be relearned. So far im out about 2 thousand dollars for a known manufacturing issue that could have ended FATAL. I want to be reimbursed for every dime i spent, and the inconvienience! I have reciepts for the part and labor! I will never buy a FORD product again after this. I could have died, along with my passenger. something needs to be done!
The components and systems that failed are my engine and gas tank, they both are available for inspection upon request. My safety was put at risk, approximately two minutes before my vehicle slowed down enough to stop my brakes wouldn't work. Yes I have called the dealership and the problems that the representative listed explaining a recall; is what I have been experiencing with my vehicle. Yes, 6/15/2022 the day after my engine failed my car was diagnosed by All 4 U Auto and he confirmed that the engine had blown and along with the gasoline tank both needed replacements. No, there were no warning lamps nor messages prompting alerts of my vehicle. There were several symptoms of the problem prior to the failure that occurred before and after the Ford recall; 18S32. I completed the recall fuel tank deformation 1/3/2019. I am still experiencing issues with my gas tank, which are listed on the official Ford website. I can only pump approximately 80 miles worth of gas or 1/4 full worth of gas. If I pump anymore the vehicle will stall and require for me to restart it multiple times 2 - 10, the more I "over pump" the more I will have to restart and longer it will stall. During pumping even 1/4 worth of gas my entire vehicle will shake and make a loud sound, and with re cranking causing engine malfunction. The website mentions; "Owners are advised to maintain at least a half tank of fuel until their vehicle is serviced for this issue." although I can only pump 1/4 full worth of gas at a time. Another issue is I cannot leave the vehicle idle over 5 minutes, even when in traffic if I do not keep driving up 6 inches every five minutes it will turn off. This problem has negatively affected my battery, on a few occasions leaving the vehicle idle has caused my battery to need to be recharged and replaced. Lastly the vehicle does exactly what the recall mentions; "inaccurate fuel gauge readings". While pumping gas the mileage on the dashboard sometimes does not increase.
My car keep stalling while driving on the freeway with my daughter in the car skipping and jerking than it slow speed down extremely low no pressure at all very dangerous
On January 14, 2022, at approximately 5:20 P.M. my wife was traveling southbound on Pleasant Hill Road in Lafayette, California towards the freeway entrance when the Ford Focus Electric she was driving displayed a Stop Safely Now message and almost immediately thereafter lost motive power at the busiest intersection in the City of Lafayette. She was able to steer the car to the shoulder since she was in the right hand lane. The vehicle would not move and the steering wheel locked up. She called for assistance and I drove down and exchanged cars with her within approximately 15 minutes. After approximately 10 minutes of trying, I was able to get the vehicle to turn off and to turn on again without the Stop Safely Now warning and was able to return the approximately 1.5 miles to our residence. The sudden unexpected loss of motive power and loss of ability to accelerate is extremely dangerous and frightening and that danger can be extreme when traveling on roads without shoulders or in any lane except the right lane on a freeway.

THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND SAID THE PART WAS FAILING. IF THE PART HAD NOT FAILED BAD ENOUGH YET, THEN I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FEES.

DOORS THAT HAVE DEFECTIVE LATCHES, OPENING AT ANYTIME, TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS LEADING TO CARS CONSTANTLY ALMOST REAR ENDING YOU, AND A CAR THAT CAN STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION OR FREEWAY, IS NOT BY ANY MEANS A DEFINITION OF THE WORD SAFE. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THAT FIXING THE FUEL TANK RECALL AND TRANSMISSION WARRANTY EXTENSION ON THE VEHICLE WILL FIX THE ISSUES. I TOOK OFF A DAY FROM WORK AND TOOK TO OURISMAN FORD & LINCOLN IN ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA. AFTER SEVERAL HOURS OF WAITING, I WAS TOLD THAT I WILL HAVE TO DROP IT OFF ANOTHER DAY BECAUSE SOME PART(S) WILL BE ORDERED. ABOUT A WEEK AFTER, I DROPPED IT OFF AND IT STAYED FOR OVER 3 DAYS. I WAS TOLD THAT EVERYTHING WAS OKAY. I MANAGED TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, TURNED OF THE ENGINE AND TURNED IT ON AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND THE ALERT CAME UP AGAIN. I DROVE AT NO MORE 20MPH WITH THE HAZARD LIGHTS ON TO MY HOME. I SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WITH DARCARS FORD IN LANHAM MD TO DROP IT OFF ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2019. I'M WALKING TO GET LOANER WHEN SUDDENLY TECH YELLS OVER THAT MY CAR IS DONE! WHAT? HE JUST SAID TANK WAS IN TRANSIT! RELUCTANTLY TOOK MY CAR ONLY TO HAVE IT DIE AGAIN. HAD IT TOWED TO KINDLE AGAIN AND HE SAID CAR STARTED RIGHT UP FOR HIM AFTER HE PUT GAS IN IT. HE IMPLIED I RAN OUT OF GAS BECAUSE GAUGE WAS PINNED ON EMPTY. I HAD PUT GAS IN IT THAT MORNING. THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND TRANSMISSION CLUTCH NEEDED TO ALSO BE REPAIRED. THE FUEL TANK AND TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WERE REPLACED; TWICE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT IT WOULD COST $947 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH. THE REPAIR WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. I'VE BEEN TO FORD TO "RESET THE TRANSMISSION GAUGE" 4 TIMES NOW- INCLUDING FOR THE 2 RECALLS FOR THIS DPS6 TRANSMISSION. THE LAST TIME THEY HAD THE CAR I HAD A RENTAL FOR JUST OVER 3 WEEKS WHILE THEY WERE REPLACING PARTS THAT THEY CLAIMED CAUSED THE SLIPPING. SINCE THEN, THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN BETTER, BUT WHENEVER I TURN ON THE A/C AND IT'S RAINING OUT, THE PROBLEM RETURNS. I HAVE A 2014 FORD FOCUS TITANIUM. MY VEHICLE HAS JUST PASSED THE 70,000 MILE MARK AND CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE WITH THE TRANSMISSION TO INCLUDE BUCKING, KICKING, JERKING, AND DELAYED ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN FOR MULTIPLE SOFTWARE UPDATES AND A NEW CLUTCH. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES AND I DO NOT BELIEVE THE COMPANY HAS A SOLID FIX FOR THIS. THE ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION ARE FOR MULTIPLE YEARS WITHIN THE FOCUS AND FIESTA VEHICLES. JUST TODAY, THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION AS I WAS GOING AROUND A TURN. SIMPLY PUT, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY FORD FOCUS AND I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS BEING DONE TO RESOLVE THIS SO DRIVERS ARE SAFE AND SECURE.

WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ACCELERATION SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR. THE CAR DOES NOT CHANGE GEARS CLEANLY. INSTEAD IT MAY HESITATE BEFORE CHANGING GEARS, ACT LIKE IT IS IN NEUTRAL WITH HIGH REVOLUTIONS AND NO CHANGE IN ACCELERATION. WE HAVE TO PLAY WITH THE PEDAL CONSTANTLY TO TRY TO MAKE IT ACT NORMAL IN CHANGING GEARS EVEN THOUGHT THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CAR.

IN THE COURSE OF LESS THAN A MONTH, THE CAR'S PROBLEM PROGRESSED FROM INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUES THAT LEFT ME STRANDED TO A FULL-ON FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM. THE CLUTCH OF THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPLACED AND THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED IN JUNE 2018. ON MAY 30TH, 2019, THE CAR WAS TAKEN IN DUE TO TRANSMISSION STARTING ISSUES. THE LIGHTS WOULD TURN ON WHEN TURNING THE KEY, BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT CRANK. THE CAR WAS RETURNED AFTER THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. ON JUNE 11, 2019, THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME ISSUE. CAR WOULD NOT START AND TOOK ABOUT 50 TRIES AFTER HAVING BEEN STRANDED FOR SEVERAL HOURS. CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME SEVERAL DAYS LATER BECAUSE NOTHING WAS FOUND. ON JUNE 19, 2019, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE GOING ABOUT 60 MPH. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE TO PASS SOMEONE, AND MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. WHEN I LOOKED DOWN, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING, MY BATTERY LIGHT WAS ON, AND MY OIL LIGHT WAS ON. THE CAR DOWNSHIFTED AND STARTED TO RAPIDLY DECELERATE. ENGINE SHUT DOWN, AND CAR WAS ROLLING TO A STOP. I HAD TO RUSH TO THE RIGHT LANE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, AND I MANAGED TO ROLL MY WAY UP THE EXIT RAMP, WHERE MY CAR SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY AT THE TOP OF THE EXIT RAMP. CAR WOULD NOT RESTART, AND I WAS STRANDED THERE FOR OVER AN HOUR IN A DANGEROUS PLACE AND SITUATION. I CALLED A TOW, AND AFTER TRYING TO START MY CAR INTERMITTENTLY FOR OVER AN HOUR, THE ENGINE FINALLY STARTED. I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE CHECKED OUT AGAIN.THE SAME ISSUE WITH TRANSMISSION CONTROL HAS PERSISTED, RESULTING IN ME HAVING TO TAKE THE CAR IN ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS IN ABOUT TWO WEEKS. IT STARTED OF FROM INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUES TO THE CAR SHUTTING DOWN COMPLETELY WHILE TRAVELING AT A HIGH SPEED. THIS CAR HAS DONE NOTHING BUT PUT ME IN DANGER, AND I HAVEN'T EVEN PAID IT OFF YET.

SO ALL THESE THINGS HAPPENING AFTER TAKING CAR OFF LOT. I WENT BACK IN A COUPLE DAYS LATER. TOLD TO BUY A WARRANTY, THEY RESET THE TRANSMISSION, AS IF I OWNED THE CAR FOR YEARS. THIS ISN'T RIGHT. THEY PROLONGED HELPING, ETC...EVEN ASKED FOR MY CAR BACK. THEN THROWN IN MY FACE THAT IT WAS AT AUCTION. NOBODY WAS HELPING. SEND LETTERS, DID A SURVEY, CALLING, DROPPING IN, ETC...I DOCUMENTED EVERYTHING. I NEED HELP!! THIS IS A DANGEROUS LEMON AND THEY TOOK ADVANTAGE OF ME. CEO IS CONTACTED TO. VEHICLE SHUDDER PROBLEM 2014 FORD FOCUS SE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM AN AUCTION ON MAY 13TH, 2019 WITH SLIGHTLY MORE THAN 78000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I COULD NOT DRIVE IT AWAY BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE A SECOND DRIVER AND THE AUCTION WAS 1 HOUR AWAY. I PICKED UP THE CAR TWO DAYS LATER. THE VEHICLE TAKES LONG TO ACCELERATE AND SHAKES WHILE TRYING TO PICK UP SPEED. I WAS AFRAID AND STILL AM AFRAID THAT IT WAS GOING TO STALL. I'VE SINCE GONE ONLINE TO DO SOME RESEARCH AND I AM FINDING THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A UNIVERSAL PROBLEM FOR THIS CAR. NOW, I KNOW AUCTION CARS ARE SOLD AS IS, AND I UNDERSTOOD THIS WHEN I BID FOR THE CAR BUT THIS SEEMS TO BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER ON MANY OF THESE CARS. AND I WAS DRIVING HOME 11 DAYS AFTER GETTING THE CAR AND IT STALLED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY IN THE LEFT LANE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS ALMOST HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. I SENT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER YOU TRIED TO GIVE IT BACK TO ME AGAIN TELLING ME THAT THEY DROVE IT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ISN'T ON ANYMORE AND WE LOOKED UP YOUR WEBSITE TO SEE IF THE CAR HAD AN ACTIVE RECALL WHICH IT DID. WE REFUSED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK UNLESS THEY FIXED THE RECALL. SO THEY SAID THEY WERE SENDING THE CAR TO EXCEL FORD IN CARTHAGE TEXAS. THAT THEY HAD CALLED THEM AND VERIFY THE RECALL IN WHICH WE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL FROM THE PAPERWORK FROM THE DEALERSHIP GIVING US THE WEBSITE. THE SERVICE TECH CALLED AND SAID HE CALLED FORD VERIFYING THE RECALL AND THAT THE PARTS FOR FIXING THE RECALL WE'RE ON BACKORDER AND COULD TAKE QUITE A WHILE. A DAY LATER ELLIOTT DODGE OF CARTHAGE CALLED US BACK WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR AND SAID THEY HAD THE CAR BACK THE RECALL WAS FIXED. ALONG WITH THE PIECE OF PAPER STATING IT WAS FIXED BUT NOT HOW. AND NOW A WEEK LATER IF THAT AND THE CAR STALLED OUT AGAIN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND DID THE SAME THING IT DID BEFORE THE RECALL WAS ALLEGEDLY FIXED. ONCE AGAIN NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE CAR STALLED AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND IT STALLS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES THEN STAYS ON LOSING ALL POWER AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE.

I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE ISSUE REGARING THE RECALL FOR "THE ENGINE MAY STALL DUE TO A STUCK CANISTER PURGE VALVE (CPV) WITHIN THE FUEL VAPOR SYSTEM" AND MY SECOND TRANSMISSION FIX WITHIN 10,000 MILES OF THE LAST TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. THE FIRST TRANSMISSION MODULE FIX, MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR 19 DAYS. WHEN I RECIEVED MY CAR BACK, MY TRANSMISSION WAS SHUTTERING SO BAD AND WOULDNT ACCELERATE AND WAS STUCK IN A GEAR AND WOULD NOT BREAK OR SPEED UP FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS. WHEN I TRIED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK IN, THEY TOLD ME THAT "THEY FIXED THE RECALLED ISSUE SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC." IN NOVEMBER, I FOUND OUT THAT FROM MAY TO NOV. I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON A BROKEN TRANSMISSION CLUTCH. IN NOVEMBER, THEY FINALLY PUT IN A NEW TRANSMISSION CLUTCH, HOWEVER DONT HAVE RECORD OF THEM CHECKING FOR THE RECALL ON THE FUEL SYSTEM. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR WORK, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS GOING TO TAKE A COUPLE OF HOURS, THEN IT TURNED INTO ONE TO TWO DAYS AND PUT ME IN A RENTAL, HOWEVER DIDNT COMMUNICATE WITH ME ABOUT THE STATUS OF MY CAR. I CALLED MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY, HOWEVER DIDNT RECIEVE ANY DETAILS FROM MY MECHANIC. ON SATURDAY, I CALLED AGAIN AND TALKED TO THE FRONT DESK AGENT. I TOLD HIM THAT MY CAR WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE THE DAY PRIOR AND I HADNT RECIEVED ANY UPDATE ON MY CAR. LATER THAT DAY, I FINALLY RECIEVED A VOICEMAIL STATING THAT THEY HAD FINISHED THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH, HOWEVER FOUND A OIL LEAK AND THEY "HAD BEEN DOING WHAT BEST FOR ME" AND HAD BEEN FIXING IT WITHOUT COMMUNICATING TO ME ABOUT IT. MY CAR STAYED IN THE SHOP FOR AN ADDITONAL 4 DAYS TO FIX THE OIL LEAK. I ENDED UP BEING CHARGED FOR THE RENTAL CAR AFTER I WAS TOLD THAT EVERYTHING WAS UNDER WARRENTY AND RECALL SO I DIDNT HAVE TO PAY FOR ANYTHING. I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THAT THEY WERE DOING THIS WORK ON MY CAR UNTIL DAYS PRIOR. AFTER MORE THAN A MONTH, I AM STILL DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM.

I ALSO HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY ANY OTHER COMMON THINGS, SUCH AS A CERTAIN FUEL LEVEL, INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL TEMPERATURE, OR RATE OF INTENDED ACCELERATION, THOUGH I WOULD NOT RULE OUT ANYTHING. I HAVE NOTICED THIS HAPPENING BOTH IN TOWN DRIVING AND HIGHWAY DRIVING, THE DELAY IN ACCELERATION OR STUTTERING. THERE IS ALSO A DISTINCT SHUDDER THAT HAPPENS OCCASIONALLY. I AM NOT SURE IF IT IS AN ISSUE WITH FUEL (FLOODING MAYBE? OR A DELAY IN FUEL INJECTION?) OR AN ISSUE WITH THE POWER TRAIN (ANY ISSUE IN THE TRANSMISSION WITH SHIFTING?) OR MAYBE AN ISSUE IN SPEED CONTROL (A MISSED CONNECTION BETWEEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL OR THROTTLE CONTROL CABLES AND THE NEXT STEP IN THE CHAIN?). I JUST KNOW THAT SOMETIMES I NEED TO ACCELERATE TO GET IN A SPOT IN A LINE OF TRAFFIC AND WHEN THE CAR DOESN'T 'GO' WHEN I NEED IT TO AND IT SHUDDERS OR HAS A STUTTER OR DELAY, IT CAUSES THE CAR I WAS GETTING IN FRONT OF TO HAVE TO BRAKE AND IF THEY DON'T, THEN MY CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT ARE PUT AT RISK. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, NOT JUST THE DATE INDICATED.
THE CAR LOST ALL POWER AND SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY. THERE WERE NO LIGHTS INDICATING THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND LEFT US STUCK ON SIDE OF THE ROAD. SINCE THE INCIDENT THE CAR HAS STOPPED SEVERAL TIMES. I ALSO TOOK TO FORD DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED MAKING A COMPLAINT.
MY CAR WOULD STALL WHEN I WAS TURNING OR DRIVING, BUT AT FIRST I COULD TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON AND IT WOULD RUN JUST FINE. THEN MY CAR STARTED SHOWING ME THAT I HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS WHEN I DIDN'T. I FOUND OUT THAT THE ISSUE IS THE GAS TANK, A $450 FIX. THESE PLASTIC GAS TANKS ARE COLLAPSING ON ITSELF, MY FRIEND HAD A 2012 FOCUS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE GAS TANK WAS SHRINKING AND THAT IT WOULD KEEP SHRINKING UNTIL THE GAS TANK WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY GONE. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL!!!

THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. NO PART FAILURES. NO CODES TO TROUBLESHOOT. THEY SAID THAT THEY CAN NOT EXPLAIN THE REASONING FOR THIS BY THE CAR SEEMS FINE ALTHOUGH IT HAS THIS ISSUE. IT MAKES LEAVING FROM A STOP VERY DANGEROUS AS THE CAR IS REALLY SLOW TO ACCELERATE. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED TWO ACCIDENTS WHERE OTHER DRIVERS ARENT EXPECTING MY SLOW ACCELERATION. THIS IS COMMON IN THE VEHICLES WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. BUT MY FOCUS HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. SO FORD DEALERS AND SERVICE SUPPORT ONLINE ARE AT A MISS FOR WHAT THE ISSUE WOULD BE AS THE VEHICLE SHOWS NO ISSUES IN THE HEALTH REPORT. AFTER TALKING TO FORD SERVICE ONLINE THEY HAVE ASKED FOR ME TO GO TO THE NHTSA AND PLACE AN OFFICIAL REPORT SO THAT THIS ISSUE CAN BE INVESTIGATED AS IT IS NOT THE FIRST. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD THE SPARK PLUGS, COILS REPLACED AND STILL NO DIFFERENCE. THIS IS A DANGER FOR ANYONE DRIVING OR NEAR THIS VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING.

I PREVIOUSLY HAD A 2012 FORD FOCUS, WHICH LEFT ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BRIDGE AFTER A RECALL PART BROKE. (FORD IN THE LETTER SENT ON THE RECALL STATED THEY COULD NOT FIX THE PART THAT BROKE UNTIL IT BROKE). SO I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL THAT DAY HAPPENED. THAT WAS THE SECOND STRIKE AGAINST THEM. I HAD ALREADY BEEN IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS AND REPROGRAMMING SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS I OWNED THE CAR. THEN THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH AND TCM; KEPT MY CAR FOR 3-4 DAYS. SO AFTER ALL THAT WAS FIXED I TRADED AND GOT A 2014 FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK. ALL THAT STUFF WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BEHIND ME AND NO GLITCHES IN THIS YEAR. AFTER 15,000 MILES WAS PUT ON THE CAR THE CLUTCH STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN AND PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE. THE SHUTTERING AND STUTTERING BECOME SO BAD I THOUGHT MY CAR WAS GOING TO FALL APART. FROM A DEAD STOP TO A GO (20-30 MPH) IT HAD SUCH A HARD TIME SHIFTING GEARS THAT THE RPM'S WOULD JUST TAKE OFF. GRINDING NOISES UNDER THE CAR UPON ACCELERATION. WHEN IN CRUISE CONTROL IT WOULD JUST LOSE SPEED ON IT'S OWN, CRUISE SET FOR 60MPH AND RPM"S WOULD JUST DROP OUTTA NO WHERE LIKE THE CAR WAS ABOUT TO STALL. TOOK IT IN AND SURE ENOUGH NEW CLUTCH AND SEALS WERE ALREADY NEEDED (THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED IN APRIL 2015 AND THE CLUTCH WENT OUT IN JANUARY 2016). THEY KEPT THE CAR A WK (AT NO TIME WAS I OFFERED A RENTAL) HAD TO BORROW MY PARENTS VEHICLES TO GET AROUND; MY HUSBAND NEEDED HIS CAR. HAD THE CAR BACK A WK AND HAVE ALREADY TAKEN IT IN TO BE REPROGRAMMED B/C YET AGAIN WE ARE HAVING SHUTTERING AND STUTTERING ISSUES AS WELL AS PROBLEMS UPON ACCELERATION. WHEN I CHECK 2014 FOCUS RECALLS THERE ARE SOME MAJOR RECALLS. I WAS ISSUED A RECALL ON MY VIN# FOR THE TCM ALREADY. THEY HAVE INCREASED MY WARRANTY TO 100,000 B/C THEY KNOW I WILL BE BACK FOR MORE REPAIRS AND THE SERVICE GUY STATED REPLACING THE CLUTCH IS ONLY TEMPORARY, I WILL BE BACK FOR A NEW ONE AGAIN AND AGAIN.

THE TRANSMISSION EXHIBITED A SEVERE, ERRATIC MOVEMENT, ALONG WITH SHUDDERING/JERKING, WITH THE MOST SEVERE BEING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE, PARK OR DRIVE ON FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. ON TWO OF THOSE OCCASIONS, IT HAPPENED WHEN THE CONSUMER WAS ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED BACKWARDS; ONCE HITTING A PEDESTRIAN AND LEAVING SCRATCHES ON THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE WITH A DENTED LICENSE PLATE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND APPLYING THE BRAKE DID NOT SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. AT THE TIME, I WAS A SAFE DISTANCE AWAY AT A DRIVE-THRU AND APPLIED GAS TO MOVE FORWARD. AT FIRST, NOTHING HAPPENED, THEN THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD SUDDENLY. THEN, IT STUTTERS, OR HESITATES, AS I ACCELERATE TO A POINT, AT WHICH POINT ACCELERATION CEASES AND THE RPMS RACE. AGAIN, A DANGER OF BEING HIT FROM BEHIND OR THE SIDE WHEN MERGING. I ASKED MY OIL CHANGE GUY TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE TRANSMISSION, BUT HE REFUSED AS HE HAS HEARD ABOUT TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH THE FORD FOCUS CARS AND SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. WHEN I CALLED FORD TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, THEY WERE WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND SAID THEY JUST NEEDED TO "RECALIBRATE". MY CAR "PASSED" THEIR TEST, BUT THE ISSUE CONTINUED. I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP WHO SAID HE IS ON THE PHONE WITH 7-8 FORD FOCUS OWNERS A DAY TALKING ABOUT THIS ISSUE THAT IS ALLEGEDLY NOT A SAFETY CONCERN, BUT A DESIGN WHICH IS NOT A DEFECT. HE SAID IF AND ONLY IF MY CAR WERE TO FAIL THE "TEST", THEN THEY WOULD HAVE PERMISSION TO ORDER A NEW PART. I TOOK MY CAR IN AGAIN, IT FAILED, AND NOW I AM WAITING 12-16 WEEKS FOR THE PART TO COME IN. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTOOD FROM THE DEALERSHIP, THE NEW PART MAY MAKE THINGS A BIT BETTER, BUT THE WAY IT DRIVES WILL BE THE SAME. THIS DESIGN IS NOT ONLY FLAWED, MAKING FOR AN UNCOMFORTABLE RIDE, IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN. WHILE CRUISING AT A STEADY 65MPH IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE MY VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY WENT INTO WHAT THE FORD DEALER LATER CALLED "LIMP MODE." THE CAR LOST ALMOST ALL ITS POWER AND AT FIRST SEEMED TO BE STALLED. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND THE SPEED GRADUALLY DROPPED. THERE WERE TRACTOR-TRAILERS MERGING ONTO AND OFF THE INTERSTATE, AND I HAD A FEARFUL SENSATION OF GOING UP UNDER ONE. THERE WAS TOO MUCH TRAFFIC TO "BACK OFF" AND GO BEHIND THEM, AND I HAD NO ACCELERATION TO GET AROUND. IT FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO BE "RUN OVER," AND I'M NOT SO SURE THE TRACTOR-TRAILER DRIVERS COULD EVEN SEE ME. AT THE NEXT EXIT I IMMEDIATELY LEFT THE INTERSTATE AND PULLED INTO A GAS STATION, TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. TAKING OFF AND ACCELERATING FROM THE INTERSTATE EXIT TO THIS STATION WAS ACTUALLY VERY DIFFICULT. IT FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH ACCELERATION TO PROPERLY MANEUVER. I WAS NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE NEAREST FORD DEALER. I SPOKE WITH A LADY WHO SEEMED VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE PROBLEM, (WHICH ACTUALLY WORRIES ME BECAUSE THAT MAKES IT SEEM LIKE A COMMON ISSUE), BUT OFFERED NO SOLUTION. SHE ALMOST SEEMED SLIGHTLY "IRRITATED," AS IF IT WAS SOMETHING SHE HAD "EXPLAINED MANY TIMES BEFORE." SHE SAID "TURN THE CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES AND LET THE COMPUTER RESET. IF THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM IT WILL STILL BE IN 'LIMP MODE,' BUT MORE LIKELY IT WAS A FLUKE AND WILL TURN OFF." I ASKED, "WHY DID THIS HAPPEN? IT'S ONLY SIX MONTHS OLD AND I WAS JUST CRUISING DOWN THE HIGHWAY." HER RESPONSE WAS 'YEAH, IT JUST HAPPENS.'" PURCHASED A 2014 FORD FOCUS SE ON JANUARY 4, 2014 AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS SINCE DRIVING IT OFF THE DEALERSHIP PARKING LOT. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL BOUNCES OR SWAYS BACK AND FORTH. THE FEEL IS SIMILAR TO WHEN IT IS WINDY AND THE CAR IS CAUGHT IN AN AIR GUST. WHEN DRIVING ANY DISTANCE OR A SPEED OVER 10 MPH, THE DRIVER MUST HOLD ONTO THE STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP THE CAR IN THE LANE OF TRAFFIC. THE STEERING WHEEL SWAYS ONE WAY AND ONCE YOU CORRECT IT IS NECESSARY TO CORRECT THE OPPOSITE WAY. THE CAR IS DRIVEN TO AND FROM WORK APPROXIMATELY 17 MILES ONE DAY DAILY. BY THE TIME I ARRIVE AT WORK OR HOME MY HANDS HURT FROM HOLDING THE STEERING WHEEL SO TIGHTLY. PRIOR TO THE THIRD VISIT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE STEERING ISSUE, A NEW PROBLEM AROSE. AFTER BREAKING TO STOP THE CAR, I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF OF THE BREAK, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD FAST ENOUGH TO SQUEAL THE TIRES. APPLIED THE BREAK AGAIN, STOPPED, REMOVED FOOT TO ACCELERATE AND CAR ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AGAIN. THIS IS BECOMING AN ONGOING ISSUE. AS OF APRIL 9, 2014 THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES, EACH TIME TO BE TOLD THERE NO PROBLEMS CAN BE FOUND WITH THE CAR. IT DRIVES THE SAME AS EVERY OTHER VEHICLE OF THE SAME MAKE PER THE DEALERSHIP. I'VE BARELY MISSED HITTING THE CENTER BARRIER ON THE FREEWAY, TAKING OUT THE SIDE OF A DELIVERY TRUCK, ACCELERATED FORWARD AT A DANGEROUS SPEED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, AND THE STEERING IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE.
