In the Ford 3 cylinder 1.0L Ecoboost engines there is a terrible wet belt system, there is a recall on the automatic models but nothing for the manual models, regardless of the fact that the manual models are designed far more poorly than the automatic models in the sense that the manual models have no tensioners and rely solely on the factory tension of the screws, keeping in mind that the belt is both rubber and sitting in hot oil when in use, if not a money grab, my best guess is that they hoped the wet rubber belt would simply not not stretch in good faith. 4 days after getting basic maintenance, the wet belt failed, clogging the oil pickup causing engine failure, and temporary loss of power steering, after the engine was given time to warm up, luckily the road was nearly empty, and i was driving at a slower pace. However the fact that Ford Motor Company has gone nearly a decade without dealing with the issue, and then denies having knowledge of this design flaw, is absolutely and abundantly absurd. I have all vehicle maintenance records, as well as mechanic testimony, all of which point to this incident being caused by poor engine design. In addition to the estimated cost to replace the engine is 8,500$, or about 140% the cars total value prior to the engine failure. This a NOT a minor issue, this is not even a uncommon fail point on many other manual models, this IS a major safety concern, that god forbit it, could lead to a major accident. I simply think that the Ford Motor Company should be made accountable for cheaping out for profit, at the cost of customer’s safety.
The transistor arm or tensioning arm for the wet belt, which drives the oil pump in the oil pan failed, leading to oil starvation to the engine, causing total catastrophic engine failure, and temporary loss of power steering, while driving, fortunately, I was moving at a slow pace in minimal traffic, however, this is a known fail point in Ford 1.0 L ecoboost 3 cyl engines, that Ford claims my vehicle does not have, and refuses to cover, regardless of the fact that it did happen, and I have pictures in mechanic testimony to prove this to be true, had I’ve been on a different road, or had more traffic, this could have to a fatality. The engine replacement would cost a estimated 4500-7500$
The clutch had to be replaced a second time and the engine became disabled while driving due to parts failure and it blowing up. This is all happening with 60,000 miles on the vehicle. My safety came into question with both failures disabling my car while I was driving on the interstate. The clutch was replaced and paid for out of pocket and I have been trying to work with ford about the engine but they have not helped at all. The issues just popped up and failed immediately while driving. This engine failure issue is covered for my vehicle, but my VIN is not covered. The only explanation I have received is that it is because my car is a manual transmission, which has no link to the part that failed on the engine. I was also notified by the ford service manager that my vehicle was made in the exact location and time frame that the recall covers, but my VIN still is not covered. I have received absolutely no help or solution with my vehicles failure and have been without a vehicle for 9 months because of the large price on replacing an entire engine, right after I had to pay for a very expensive clutch replacement.
I was driving the car other all of a sudden died on me and told me to put it in park I put it in park and then turned the key off and tried to restart it. It did not restart and would not turn of kept popping up a warning saying starter system failure. Could not turn my wheel or pit it in neutral to get it out of te middle of the road.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the RPMs became drastically elevated, and the vehicle shut off unintendedly. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over, and the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the residence, and after three days the contact attempted to restart the vehicle, and the vehicle started without hesitation, and the check engine warning light was no longer illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the local dealer to be diagnosed; however, there was no cause for the failure found. The vehicle not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

It is my transmission problem, there is an engine light on and the shifting is very rough and it also jumps gears, i know ford had a recall for this problem i believe it should be under warranty it is the TCM
2016 Ford Focus, VIN: [XXX] Power Train: Automatic Transmission: Control Module (TCM) This complaint details a recurring and severe safety defect in our 2016 Ford Focus. The vehicle's Transmission Control Module (TCM) has failed twice, resulting in sudden, complete loss of power and dangerous stalling incidents at highway speeds. In January 2023, at approximately 8,000 miles, the vehicle suddenly lost all propulsion while traveling on a highway. We were forced to execute a dangerous emergency maneuver across lanes of traffic to reach the shoulder. A Ford dealership diagnosed a failed TCM which had, in turn, caused the clutch to burn out. In July 2025, after only 7,000 additional miles (total vehicle mileage ~15,000), the identical, catastrophic failure occurred again. The vehicle once more stalled without warning on a major highway, creating another life-threatening situation. The diagnostic codes confirmed the same TCM and clutch failure, proving the issue is a persistent, underlying defect and not a random occurrence. This failure is entirely consistent with the widely-documented defect in Ford's Powershift (DPS6) transmission. This problem has been the subject of multiple national class-action lawsuits and is detailed in thousands of other consumer complaints filed. The repeated failure in our low-mileage vehicle underscores that this is a predictable and systemic design flaw that makes the vehicle inherently unsafe. We attempted to address this critical safety failure directly with Ford Motor Company. Our concerns were met with dismissal, and despite being issued a case number, Ford has failed to respond to our calls registered letter. This vehicle is unsafe to operate. We are filing this complaint to implore the NHTSA to launch a formal investigation into this defect. The repeated, sudden loss of power presents an unreasonable risk of serious injury or death to occupants and other motorists. We believe a mandatory recall is urgently required. The dual clutch for the 2016 Ford Focus SE. This model is showing an open recall on active listings but not showing up in a search via VIN. Yes the vehicle is still available for inspection. The vehicle’s transmission overheats which has left us stranded, on the interstate and regular roads, maybe times. The vehicle has broken down multiple times in the middle of the road and put us at risk of a collision. I have verified with the dealer that this is a problem with these specific cars but only after I had purchased it. The problem started right away after purchase by showing on the dash that the transmission was overheating but that same message would go back off, resulting in the dealer refusing to take a look at it under warranty. I’ve seen many other customers complain of this problem and eventually end up losing a lot of money because Ford and the dealer will not do anything to fix it. They wouldn’t even look at the vehicle to confirm that this was the problem but instead gave me the 1-800 number for Ford and then Ford told me to take it back up to the dealer who refused to even take a complaint.

Check engine light illuminated followed by unresponsive throttle. Pulled over and the car immediately stalled. Would not restart. Came back with code P1450. There's an open recall for that exact code for 2015-2018 focus, however the 1.0L supposedly "not affected" so my vehicle is not eligible.
Notes from the Ford dealer: Oil pump belt tensioner failed causing oil pump belt to slip and starve engine for oil. Turbo was also starved of oil. Long block and turbo were replaced. This seems to be the same issue that is included in a current recall but it does not extend to all affected vehicles. Reference NHTSA# 23V905. Ford recall 23S64.

I was driving the speed limit at 65 MPH down a steep hill, I felt something "drop" and then the oil lamp and "Engine Fault Error" displayed. I was unable to drive faster than 30 mph. I was fortunate that no one was following close behind. I had to put on my hazards and drive half a mile more to find a safe place to pull off the road. I had to have my vehicle towed 60 miles to the nearest mechanic. I was informed that the problem was related to a known recall, but there are no parts to fix the problem and it will be months until they do. My vehicle cannot be driven and is sitting at the dealership until it can be repaired and they cannot tell me when that will be.
2016—2022 Ford EcoSport® and Focus® 1.0L Engine--- My car is experiencing the same issue as the Automatic transmission. The car is not listed on the Oil Pump Failure Recall on the Ford Website as it shows that it applies to automatic transmission, and doesn't mentioned manual transmission. Both transmission carry the same issue as it's an engine design flaw and not a transmission related issue. The car experienced a bad idle that results to lost of power and Oil light went on as I drove it to the Mechanic shop. Currently there's no parts available and ford website the part is back ordered. The reference number is 23S64 for the current recall of the 1.0L engines. Please see reference below. I've contacted Ford support about the issue and was informed to report the issue here. I am experiencing two significant issues with my 2016 Ford Focus, both of which closely match known recall problems documented for this model and year. However, my vehicle’s VIN does not currently show an active recall, and Ford has not covered the repairs. Canister Purge Valve (Error Code P1450): The canister purge valve in my vehicle is malfunctioning, leading to rough idling, poor fuel economy, and difficulties starting the engine. This issue also triggered the check engine light. My research shows that similar problems were included in a Ford recall for the 2016 Ford Focus, where a defective purge valve could cause stalling and inaccurate fuel readings. Despite these similarities, my VIN is not covered under this recall. Transmission Control Module (TCM) Issues: My vehicle also has transmission performance problems linked to the Transmission Control Module (TCM), causing hard shifting, irregular transmission behavior, and occasional failure to engage properly. The TCM issues are well-documented among 2016 Ford Focus vehicles, some of which were included in recalls and extended warranty programs, but my vehicle is excluded from this coverage. Given that these issues directly impact the vehicle's drivability and safety, I am requesting an investigation into why vehicles with similar symptoms are not covered by these recalls. These issues pose potential safety risks, including sudden stalling and compromised transmission performance. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
The engine went limp and lost all strength as I was driving on the street. Smoke started coming out. Had an independent mechanic tell me it was the fuel pump that lead to the engine dying. My car will not start and I have been carless. Dealers will not help the situation because although my car has issues related to the recalls specifications, my VIN does not apply. Engine died at 107k miles (mostly highway miles)
Received code P090C and seen this was recalled
My 2016 Ford Focus SE is stalling at higher temperatures while driving at high speeds, which is very dangerous. This issue occurs primarily during hotter daily temperatures. I have previously taken the vehicle in for the recall (NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V735000) related to the Canister Purge Valve (CPV) malfunction, which was supposed to address excessive vacuum in the fuel vapor management system. However, this did not resolve the stalling issue. This has stalled my car out at interstate highway speeds (75 MPH) which makes me lose power steering and acceleration and has nearly ended in accidents numerous of times due to this.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving at approximately 45 MPH. The vehicle was steered to a parking lot. The vehicle was not able to be restarted. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the lower half of the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

When accelerating or breaking, my cars transmission would slip causing me to slow down whiled driving. Also, my check engine light has came on. It goes on and off unexpectedly. Car shutters and shakes when accelerating.
The transmission slips and when the car starts to move it lunges forward then vibrates/shakes. I received a notice from Ford that there may be a TCM issue with the car via Ford Campaign 14M02. When I called the dealership service center in August 2023 then again in November 2023. They said the part was on back order and to check in again in the winter. When I brought the car in the mechanic said that it was not the TCM but the clutch and that it would be $2500. He did not do a diagnostic test just told me as I was checking in at the front desk. Highly unprofessional and unsafe. I unfortunately do not have any paperwork as did not go through with the repair. I called Ford and they said they had a Ford Campaign 19N08 to address the shudder clutch but it expired at the end of 2023 for my car. I feel unsafe driving in this car.
on 6/27/2024 when accelerating into traffic my vehicle stalled and almost caused an accident. Dash board display had two messages was code P0106 MAP sensor and hill start assist wasn't going to work. Possible safety recall 14S17 Saying not for my vehicle.

I have a 2016 ford focus titanium, the transmission shudders and sometimes hesitant to excellerate on the highway. at times the transmission shifts into neutral when backing up into my driveway a home. Car has this common transmission issues and started to get worse this week.
Vehicle engine consistently stalls while driving resulting in dangerous or deadly situations. 4/8/24 was the 5th engine stalling incident.
On March 29 2024, vehicle had rough idle on start, problem remedied with restart. All fluids appeared to be within normal levels with coolant reservoir indicating just below half-full. On March 30 2024, vehicle idled rough on starting. Attempted restarts led to multiple stalls with failure to start after third attempt. Inspection of engine bay found coolant reservoir to be empty. Upon towing to dealership, service department denied NHTSA #23V905 as cause of failure, stating that the engine was showing coolant intrusion into cylinders and needed a full replacement at 57,771 miles. This is similar to NHTSA Complaint # 11570577. The engine showed no driver-visible warning indicators of imminent failure. This is a cause for concern as engine failure while driving will lead to loss of power steering and brake assist systems. These are safety critical systems and can cause an accident if rendered inoperable while in motion.
Purchased car end of 2022. After 3 weeks of driving the vehicle, the engine began to fail and the vehicle would stop driving/rpm would crash to 0 while driving. After seen by 3 auto shops, it resulted in the engine being destroyed due to the placement of a belt in oil within the engine and had to pay over 7000 out of pocket for a used engine and a new belt just for the car to run. Despite issues between the end of 2022 to now (March 2024) with starting the car or driving for a long amount of time, we were told the belt needed to be replaced after 50,000. The fix for the belt is over 2000 out of pocket which is absolutely ridiculous. It is March 28th today, on March 22nd my engine failed and the vehicle is liable to stop while driving, therefore unsafe to use. I have not driven the car 50,000 miles since the new belt was put in. It won’t start right away, but when it starts the entire car shakes vigorously anywhere from 3-6 minutes and the rpm bounces from 0 to 1.5 the entirety of it shaking. The engine makes a terrible sound throughout this process. After it “warming up” the rpm bobbles the whole drive time. My vehicle was driving “okay”, never “good” prior to this, it when I was out running errands- arrived to my destination, hopped back in the vehicle and it happened and my engine light has been on ever since. There is no fix to this recall yet. I have 1 vehicle, a full time job, and am in no financial position to pay a mechanic that we have already given thousands of dollars to in repair for an issue beyond our control. We should not have had to spend that amount of money on an issue this recall presented NOR should I have to spend another dime to repair a poor manufactured issue. Not including the fact that there should be full or partial reimbursement on the reality of how expensive the outcome of this issue truly is. Very disappointed with a recall & need an unavailable fix. . ***the 137000mi is subject to the previous engine- newer had 52000 when put in car.
UNKNOWN. I believe this vehicle's engine is also impacted by the recall campaign number 18V735000, even though the engine is a 2.0L L4. The same issues that are mentioned in the recall campaign occurred with this vehicle around the 60k milage and 120k milage mark. These issues seems to happen every 60k miles. I did report this same issue with this system with this vehicle when this happened when the milage hit around 60k. The engine check light did show up each time this happened and the vehicle would stall immediately, even while driving at interstate speeds of around 70mph.
The coolant/antifreeze tank melts upon the returning coolant/antifreeze where the return line meets the tank due to the high temperature of the coolant/antifreeze and causes the coolant/antifreeze to spill onto the engine. This led to a high engine temperature increase warning and immediately made the vehicle to stall to prevent overheating of the engine. I already replaced the old tank with a new one. Also, the rear passenger seat belt began to fray and it makes it almost impossible to buckle up.
My car is having transmission issues that have been recalled many times before. The car does not move forward when I apply the gas, it violently shakes on acceleration, the engine doesn't always turn over, and will rev but not move forward at a green light. This is incredibly dangerous, especially when trying to enter the flow of traffic. It's been a known issue for years, I don't know why they canceled the recall.
PURGE CANISTER VALVE SYSTEM FAILURE. CAR SPUTTERS AND WONT START WHEN GAS IS PUT INTO THE CAR. CAR JERKS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON.
I tried taking out the car and It completely stalled and went into neutral when driving . Ford has a recall for ford focus 2014-2016 but apparently mines not one.
In December of 2021, my Ford Focus experienced engine failure due to the oil pump belt snapping and the car stalled in the middle of the interstate while my husband was driving it down the road. At the time we spent close to $9,000 replacing the engine. The part that failed has since been recalled but Ford is refusing to reimburse us for any of the costs directly related to this recalled component. Last week my engine filled again on the road while my husband was driving home from work. He was going around 50 miles an hour at the time. This time the car began running rough before the light came on and he immediately pulled off the road and shut it down and left it on the shoulder until a tow truck could arrive.
My ford focus had experienced a clutch slipping and is stuck in 2 gear. The car also had antifreeze leak during this event. This occurred on January 31,2023. My Ford dealership is quoted a $3,240 repair cost for clutch system on an automatic transmission. Ford case number CXH01481389.
After receiving a routine oil change in December 2023, my vehicle began malfunctioning. The oil, engine, and battery lights came on abruptly. I returned to the Valvoline location (approx. 1 mile from my home) and they redid the oil change and noted that there were no signs of a leak and advised that I send the car to get a diagnostic done. My car stalled twice as I was driving it home. I then had the car towed to the dealership I purchased it from (Hyundai owned). They advised that an oil tensioner belt near the engine had shredded and pieces had lodged in the engine. Shortly after, the recall was released. Since then Ford has been zero help. I understand that the parts for the new belt are needed, however I need a new engine now due to their negligence. I've contacted Ford directly on numerous occasions as well as my local dealership and they won't release any information because it is in advance notice. I'm expected to wait until April or May for repairs. That will put me at almost six months or more without a vehicle and no viable options. That is not a timely fix for such a dangerous issue.
The vehicle went into limp mode while driving. The mechanic says engine needs to be totally replaced at 68,300 original miles. The mechanic originally said it was related to the recall on the 1.0 liter engines and the oil pump. Now they say the head gasket is blown and entire engine needs to be replaced due to overheating. Ford says this failure is not related to the recall and the recall does not affect our car. Our safety was at risk with a catastrophic engine failure while driving. We have only taken it to an independent mechanic. We have to two it to Ford to have them verify and they want to charge to diagnose the issue. There were no warnings prior the malfunction.

while driving on the freeway the engine became noisy. I pulled to the shoulder , the brakes hardly worked. I talked to a friend who advised me to drive home . At home I noticed that the oil warning light was on ,engine running. Oil level was checked ,was full. Engine was replaced at a ford dealership and returned to service on 23sep2021 at great expense to me.
Two weeks after an oil change (not by Ford) my 2016 Ford Focus 5dr EcoSport engine lost power climbing a hill outside my home. On inspection two mechanics told me it needed a new engine. $8000 for me to pay. The local Ford dealer replaced the engine and gave me a 3yr unlimited mileage warranty. No symptoms prior to the failure, now that is a recall (Campaign/NHTSA#23S64/23V905) I would like Ford to reimburse all of us who are out of pocket.
[XXX] daughter was driving her car on I87 in Albany NY when oil pressure light went on and car speed dropped from 65 to less than 30 while in middle lane of interstate forcing her to cross over lanes onto shoulder roadway and exit ramp where it lost all power. Have learned that the oil belt system failed without any warning or notice causing incident. Have since learned that vehicle motor has been damaged beyond repair and needs replacement. Contact with 4 separate representatives of FORD Customer Service has resulted in FORD denying our requests for assistance to replace the motor. Car is a 2016 Ford Focus SE with the 1.0 liter motor with 81,000 miles. Well maintained with records as needed. •Oil pump failed to send oil to the engine causing the brakes to go out. While trying to pull out into traffic, the engine made a pop sound, and lost the ability to accelerate. Engine and oil light turned on, was then unable to accelerate past 20mph and engine sounded horrible. • Our mechanic looked at the car and said the oil vacuum pump was obliterated inside the engine. He replaced the vacuum pump and said that the timing belt is inside the engine which is causing all the issues. • No warning lamps or messages appeared before this. Had just had an oil change a month before and there were no issues.
Bought brand new off stevens creek ford frontier, after just 45,000 miles it showed serious transmission issues. At first it would stall and pop up a transmission overheat warning and it would jolt when just trying to step on gas lightly. I brought it in to the dealer service and they said it needed a new clutch and once I got it back it doesn’t start unless I have it in neutral and doesn’t backup. The car is extremely unsafe and stalls on the freeway in front of other cars

2016 Ford Focus with 53,000 miles, driven less than 150 miles per week on average just getting back and forth to work and running errands. Check engine light came on on November 2, 2023. I got a P0344 code from my mechanic who is 5 minutes away from when the check engine light came on. He advised me not to drive the vehicle until he could get my car in on November 7. When I started the car to take it to the mechanic on the evening of November 6 for him to look at the next day, the oil light came on. It was a 5 minute drive from my home to the auto shop. He immediately said Oh, Oh, that's the bad oil light not the low oil light. I have routinely kept up with the recommended maintenance schedule and the car was last serviced on June 7, 2023 with no problems. I was told on the morning of November 7 after he had looked at the car that the engine was shot and the car would need a brand new engine. One of the employees at the shop is a former employee of a Ford dealership and was not at all surprised as he began running down a list of all the times that he had seen this problem. "It always happens right after the warranty expires' were his exact words. I now have to wait for a new engine, which is on back order for up to 2-3 months, which is an indication of how rampant this problem is with this Ford engine, and I will have to figure out how I'm going to get to work as we head into the winter months. One of the last things that the mechanic said to me before I signed the $5400 work order, was how lucky I was that the car didn't die on the road leaving me stranded. I can only attribute that to the short distances that I drive. Please do something for those of us that purchased this vehicle in good faith and are now being told that there is nothing that Ford can do for us because the warranty is expired.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. Have been dealing with error codes for cpv, something about fuel, and air intake. The vehicle continuously stalls. Difficult to get it to start after fueling up. Sputters at various different speeds from 5mph to about 50mph. The vehicle will totally shut down on me out of gas even at over a quarter tank to half tank full according to the gauge. I dont have dates for the incidents because they are consistent at this point.
I was in the left lane of an interstate highway accelerating to pass, going about 75 mph. My car made a bang and all power was lost. I was able to coast to the right lane and fortunately was at an exit. Smoke was coming from under the hood. We pushed the car to a vacant parking lot. From there it was towed to our mechanic who identified a hole in the engine block caused by a piston rupturing through the block. The car had 69,000 miles on the engine and was well maintained.
the car shut off doing 60mph it was very scary took it to mechanic it had 2 codes the check engine light was on they cleaned the throttle body it ran but was struggling and rough idling drove to work and it wanted to stall multiple times put it in neutral to get idle up at a light then it stalled at a light drove home very afraid that it would shut off again took to the same mechanic to explain what happened have appt for estimate to fix . i need this car for work and am very scared to drive it as is never know when it will shut off called the dealer that sold me the car and all they said was theres no recalls and bring it in. i had an extended warranty but they said i was over by 1000 miles so no warranty i wont drive it there its a long drive. driving for many years i have never felt unsafe in a vehicle before this is very dangerous and needs to be resolved asap . also still have a loan for this car that i cant drive along with the repair costs my wife called ford directly and they said theres no recall and werent helpful at all
Vehicle suffered sudden loss of power. No warning lights initially but engine sounded odd at idle. Was able to return home with vehicle as happened nearby. Nothing obvious wrong upon visual inspection but vehicle was undrivable except at slow speed. Eventually check engine light came on while vehicle parked. Made appointment at local dealership. Check oil light also came on in route to dealership. If this had happened on highway would have put me in an unsafe situation. After some research turns out this is a known problem for the 1.0 Ecoboost engine. The oil pump belt fails and shreds clogging up the internals of the engine. In my conversations with Ford they admit it is a known problem but have not taken any steps to support vehicle owners as most failures have occurred outside the warranty. In my case at about 61,000 miles. Also learned direct from Ford that the engine replacement is currently on back order for over 500 customers. Obviously there is a problem as this number does not even include orders they have fulfilled. My car has been sitting at dealership now for 5 weeks waiting on an engine with no end in sight. This was not a spare vehicle so I had no choice but to purchase another used vehicle which has added significant cost to me for Ford's failure. Again, I was fortunate this did not happen on the highway but I bet others were not so fortunate.

The engine blew due to a faulty oil pump that Ford knows about. The oil pump leaks and causes metal shards to enter the engine which causes it to cease while driving. Ford refuses to fix the engine due to out of warranty. This is a known issue for 1.0 Liter engine vehicles such as the Ford Focus and Ecosport. Our Foed dealer has 2 in the shop for same issue. There is also a class action lawsuit against them.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while the transmission was shifting gear there was a loud sound coming from the vehicle and the vehicle shook abnormally. The vehicle became unable to shift out of park and felt as though the vehicle was in neutral. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the transmission control module had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The engine shuddered and failed to shift at start from stop sign. It has had 2clutch or transmission changes and now just before 40,000 it shuddered at start from stop sign and almost stopped. Almost hit from behind. How many times much this be fixed before it is done right ?I intended this to be my forever car as I’m 73 years old. Of course the warranty was changed from 10,years to 7. I usually always had good success with Fords . If this doesn’t get covered my new Ford will be a Subaru.

2016 FORD FOCUS VIN: 1FADP3F20GL341128 Mileage: 64,750 Hello I am having problems with my 2016 Ford Focus. The vehicle is shuddering, moving forward, problems in shifting, vibrating and Ford cannot do anything about this as they have told me that you have not added this model on the recall. I got the vehicle checked over by Ford and they said it is the same issues as the other Ford Focus and Fiesta have and they said they need to replace the clutch and TCM. However this would be charable to me because you have not added this model in the recall. At the Sound Dealership in Renton WA there was 3 cars with the same issue and one being the same fuel flex model as mine. Is this something you could check as Ford will not help me at all. Thank you
Have tried repeatedly to get the CPV recall performed however all dealerships or authorized repair locations have been giving me multi month waits since it started showing the alarm code for it in Dec. 2021. Due to it being the only vehicle my family has we were out in a wait list to bring it in when they had the parts and never got called back. Now the Transaxle is not engaging 4/5/6th gear intermittently. Was informed that it would be 3K for a new transaxle even though I have not had the vehicle for that long.
Transmission went out. 2016 ford focus are known for bad transmission
Transmission Fault Service Now warning light keeps coming on and off. I’ve taken it to multiple places to have it checked out and nobody can find and actual issues that would cause the transmission to fail. I got stuck in the middle of an intersection because the transmission randomly stopped. I’ve had to have it towed.
Almost a year ago I noticed my check engine light came on and so I checked the codes which is P1450 - Unable To Bleed Up Fuel Tank Vacuum - Ford - Powertrain. Everytime I fill the gas tank the engine studders and fails upon startup, usually on the 3 or 4th start the engine finally idle and I'm able to change gears. I thought this was the issue that was supposed to be resolved back in 2019 when I took my car into Ford to have the recall issue fixed. Well whatever they did back then didn't fix it and looks like I'm not the only one this is happening to.
Water pump failed. This is the second time it happens. First time happened back in 2019 and it happened in the highway luckily, I was able to pull over and no accident happened as it was during high traffic flow. It was repaired by Ford but only because I had purchased a supplemental repair package thru Ford Focus when I signed the purchase agreement. Then another issue occurred with the thermostat and it was repaired as well thru the supplemental because they didn't cover it. I leaned that day that the water hoses were damaged as well, which it was due to the prior issue with the water pump but Ford did not fix it as they said it was not covered, I argued that the problem happened because it the water pump and thermostat going bad, a chain reaction, yet they didn't want to fix it unless I paid over $1300. Now the water pump went bad again and the dealer didn't take responsibility of the issue. I was told I have to pay out of pocket.

I was driving and the car started running hot. The overheating warning came on and said to pull over safely. I was not in an area where I could stop. The light eventually went off and the temp went back to normal. There are no noticeable leaks. The car has also been shifting hard, sputtering during acceleration, and revving really high. I think there needs to be a recall issued immediately. I'm only at 56k miles.

7 year old car requires full engine replacement due to lost compression. For the 2 1/2 years I've owned it 1 entire year has been spent either stranded on the insterstate or at the dealership service repair. Fuel gauge does not monitor or distrubute correct fuel available. I have spent $600 in tows to the dealership . Multiple reports/complaints have been filed against this model & year includeing with NHTSA. "Common problems found on the 2016 Ford Focus include the transmission shuddering, engine failures, as well as issues with the power steering system. Overall, these problems are more severe than in other compact cars, leading to expensive repair bills when parts fail" Please investigate quickly as this is safety related as well as consumer gouging

I have been having problems with ford focus for a long time. I have been told that this is normal. Recently, I had my car fixed by ford. Soon after, I was having problems with car slow start, hesitation and studdering. This is the same problems I was having before. I was told by Ford dealership that it was not the transmission. They told me that it was a crack engine head and purge valve problem. I paid for the fix even though I felt like it should have been covered in a recall. The car is not fix. I have completed 2 surveys with Ford. The department of transportation should investigate ford for its ford focuses.

The oil pump failed while driving causing the engine to seize up. This occurred moments after the oil light came on giving the driver little time to react. The only lights indicated on the dash panel were the oil pressure and check engine lights. The engine seized and the car died while driving through a busy metropolitan area. The vehicle had to be physically pushed out of a busy intersection to get it out of the way of traffic. The vehicle was taken to the dealership where they found no oil in the filter, but plenty of oil in the pan. There were remnants of metal and belt material in the pan as well.

Driving on the highway the engine stopped with no indications of an issue from the control panel warnings. The car would not restart, even after cooling down. The car was looked at by multiple mechanics before towing to a Ford dealership. Their diagnostics indicated that the cylinder block assembly and the starter motor would need to be replaced. There was no mention of what the cause was. The oil had been replaced a month prior.
I got my 2016 Ford Focus in the summer of 2019 and from the start i had issues. The first issue was my car overheating the coolant tank kept getting a hole burned in it and the coolant would leak leaving my car to overheat I've had the tank replaced twice. The second issue was my car just kept turning off still don't know what that was about. Third issue was the vehicle not telling me the correct amount of gas i had it would say i would have a good amount of gas, but it really had little to no gas. The last issue was the Transmisson the car was stalling and gave me kick back that's the only way i can describe it I took it to my mechanic because there was no recall when i looked up my VIN, I paid almost $4000 for the transmission to be fixed to just bring it back to the mechanic because the transmission started giving me problems again. My mechanic told me that Hes having problems figuring out the programming. Today 12/08/2022 I read an article talking about how thousands of Ford Focus owners are having the same issue. I was never contacted by Ford. I called my local ford dealership, and they told me the part that my vehicle needs are on back order and they can't even look at my car until February.

I am getting a check engine light. P01450 which is the Stuck canister purge valve issue. NHTSA Campaign number 18V735000. Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2012-2018 Ford Focus vehicles with a 2.0L GDI or 2.0L GTDI engine. The Canister Purge Valve (CPV) may malfunction, possibly causing excessive vacuum in fuel vapor management system. Dealer said my Ford was not part of recall. Ford Recall number is 18S32. Can you assist with this? It's my son's car and needs it for college. Want to make sure it is safe. Thank you.
I was exiting Parking lot into busy intersection when vehicle suddenly hesitated and stalled completely. Was hard to restart and kept stalling after that. Very dangerous when traveling on busy streets when it stalls and steering wheel locks up. As I accelerate the car violently jerks and has hard time shifting and getting up to speed maybe a “slipping” feeling and engine is constantly misfiring and stalling. Idles very rough when stopped RPM jumps all over the place. No warning lights on dash whatsoever. Had this problem and took to ford about 2 years ago they said they fixed it but the problem still persists. I can see there are various recalls for this vehicle for the exact things that are happening to me. Huge safety concern. Seems to me it’s something to do with fuel tank and transmission.

Engine seized up. Going 70MPH on the highway and suddenly I'm losing speed. I get pulled over to the side of the road and shut the car off. So I start the car and notice my oil light is on. I shut it back off and check the oil. Levels are good. Turn the car back on and got back up to 35 MPH and it just wouldn't go anymore. Engine wouldn't turn back over. Mechanic confirmed engine was seized up and wasn't because of lack of oil. He told me others have had complaints on this issue as well. Only 60k miles on the car and had to get the engine replaced.

My car is a 2016 Ford Focus that was manufactured in Wayne, Michigan at the Michigan Assembly Plant. My car has a 2.0 L GDI engine. These are the qualifications for the 18S32 Ford recall, but I’ve been told my car does not qualify. The canister purge valve is broken. It has caused my car to stall while driving, and it has deformed my fuel tank. My car stalled on July 8th, 2022. The check engine light came on July 23rd, 2022. On July 23rd, I took the car to an auto shop and they said the canister purge valve needed to be replaced. When looking at my fuel tank, it has caved in about half an inch. I have also opened a case with the Ford Service Help. The case number is CAS-37755602
In the last 6 months my car has been to Rottet Ford in Tamaqua. Started after hour, dealer replaced TCM paid $200 3rd time car failed to start after driven, even within 24hours from leaving dealership being fixed, waiting to see WHY. But assuming TCM again. •Car has problems upshifting/downshifting gears, especially going at high speeds. When braking it takes a while to downshift in result the car tries to maintain the speed resulting in a hard jerk in the car. •since the car has a problem shifting gears especially braking could end up resulting in rear ending or being rear ended. •A dealer has confirmed the transmission issue. •UNKNOWN •There weren’t any warning lamps for the SE the problem appeared 3 weeks after I bought the vehicle. The dealer tried to charge me over $4000 for a new transmission.
I have had this car since it was new, it has had 3 clutches installed and now needs another one, I am told the car has no extended warranty even with 3 clutches being replaced and dozens of trips to the dealership, the cost of a new one is $2700 and they say it is not covered. I'm wondering how a 2016 with all the trips to the dealership regarding the clutch and 3 clutches being put on this car, the car only having 35,000 miles, why is this not covered under the extended warranty? In my opinion these cars that were manufactured for 10 years KNOWING that they had faulty clutches/transmissions should be covered for the life of the car.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission was slipping. The contact was informed by his wife that while driving the vehicle stalled. While adding fuel the vehicle failed to start. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed with the clutch actuator, purge valve canister, and purge valve failure which needed to be repaired or replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified however, no further assistance was provided. The contact stated the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V845000 (Power Train). The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.

Oil pump failure 2 times in a role within 75,000 miles. Had to have a brand new engine replacement each time.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH, the vehicle shut off with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer where they diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure. The contact had the engine replaced. A year later as her son was driving 65 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact's son added antifreeze to the reservoir and drove the vehicle home. Once the vehicle was home, the vehicle would not restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure for a second time. The contact called the dealer and was informed that the engine would be covered under warranty. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and a case was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

My car idles up high often and the car will speed up on it's own. When at a complete stop it struggles to stay on. Sometimes it will cut off. It has shut off while driving as well. It jerks when taking off from a complete stop. After putting gas in the car it will not start immediately. I have to pump the gas pedal for a few seconds. It eventually starts. At Autozone I had a code test ran on it and it suggested EVAP system needed replacing. So, I took it to have it fixed. Precision Tune ran an additional test on my car, but there were no errors. They even checked for any recalls or repair issues posted online, but my car was not listed. They suggested I call the manufacturer. It still does it. I can also hear a scrubbing sound while backing up, but my brake pads are good. The brake light continues to pop on saying I need brake fluid. I had that checked and I do not need brake fluid. The engine light stays on. I get my car tuned on a regular basis. I've only had it for a soon to be year in June 2021. Also, there are times when the gas fumes are strong inside of the car while driving. I want to go on trips but i'm afraid it will shut off in the middle of the interstate.

WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT ROUGHLY 80 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ENGINE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. ENGINE STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE. CAR WILL STILL START BUT IS NOT DRIVABLE AND ENGINE HAS NO OIL PRESSURE AND MECHANIC SAID IT DOWNSHIFTED TO 4TH GEAR AT 83 MPH. CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY AND HAS GIVEN NO INDICATION OF ENGINE PROBLEMS. WAS QUOTED $4500 AT FIRST FORD DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR CAR WITH A USED MOTOR WITH EQUAL MILEAGE. 2ND FORD DEALERSHIP QUOTED $3700 WITH REBUILT MOTOR. HAS BEEN LOOKED OVER BY 2 MECHANICS INCLUDING FORDS AND OTHER THAN READING DIAGNOSTICS NOBODY CAN PROVIDE A REASON THE OIL PRESSURE DROPPED OR WHY THE CAR DOWNSHIFTED INTO 4TH GEAR UPING THE RPM'S CAUSING ENGINE PROBLEMS. THEY SAID THERE IS NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR AT THIS POINT OTHER THAN THE ENGINE. VERY NO SMART TO REPLACE AN ENGINE WITHOUT KNOWING THE WHAT CAUSED THE INITIAL ONE TO FAIL.

2016 FOCUS RS. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR A YEAR. RANDOMLY THE CAR STARTS BLOWING OUT A VERY LIGHT WHITE SMOKE WHILE IDLING (FROM WHAT I HAVE OBSERVED.) AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS AT CONTACTING MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP THEY SEEM TO BELIEVE IT IS THE HEAD GASKET WITH A DEFECT. THIS SMOKE IS ONLY NOTICEABLE WHEN IDLING. ALSO I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF SMOKE TO DEVELOP WHEN PUTTING THE AIR CONDITIONING ON FULL BLAST.

HAD A FEW INCIDENTS WHERE IF YOU FORGET TO HIT THE SHUT OFF BUTTON TO THE ECOBOOST THAT WILL SHUT YOUR ENGINE OFF DURING A STOP LIGHT/TRAFFIC STOP TO SAVE GAS, IT WOULD COMPLETELY STALL THE ENGINE OUT WHEN PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT. ONLY HAD TWO INCIDENTS OF THIS,OF COURSE I'VE ALWAYS CHOSE TO PUSH THE BUTTON TO SAVE THE STARTER. BUT THEN RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY RAN OUT, THE ENGINE STARTED TO LEAK COOLANT MAKING ONE THINK IT WAS A BLOWN GASKET BY THE WHITE SMOKE. AS I RESEARCHED I'VE FOUND FORUMS THAT STATED THAT IT WAS COMMON. BUT ONLY THE RS SERIES HAD A RECALL AND NOT THE STANDARD. BUT IF IT'S THE SAME COMPONENTS THEN WHY AM I TOLD ONLY THE RS SHOULD HAVE THE RECALL? BUT ANYWAYS MY ENGINE IS UNREPAIRABLE, CAUSE AFTER THE FIRST REPAIR IT DID THE SAME THING. IF A VEHICLE THAT COSTS SO MUCH WON'T LAST UNTIL A 100,000 THEN WHY SELL IT? IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.

FORD FOCUS PURCHASED NEW FOR OUR DAUGHTER IN 2016. WE ALL NOTICED A STUTTER OR JERKING MOTION UPON ACCELERATION AND ODD FEELING WHEN IT SHIFTED GEARS. . THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS. THIS CARS IS ESSENTIALLY ALL MY DAUGHTERS. I ADVISED HER AS WELL AS CALLING MYSELF TO THE DEALERSHIP WE PURCHASED IT FROM BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO TAKE IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE OR TIRE ROTATION. SHE ADVISED THEM OF THE ISSUE MANY TIMES,NO EVERY TIME SHE TOOK IT UP THERE. SHE WAS ALWAYS TOLD IT WAS "NORMAL" AND NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. SO WE TRUSTED THEM THAT FOR SOME ODD REASON THIS IS NORMAL. JAN 2020. SHE WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SHUDDER VERY BADLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT BEGAN TO STOP IN THE ROAD LIKE SHE WAS BREAKING . SHE DESCRIBED IT AS THE CAR WAS JUST BREAKING ON ITS OWN TYPE FEELING IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY ROAD. SHE BROUGHT IT SLOWLY TO THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT AWAY AS IT WAS NOT DRIVABLE.APPARENTLY IT IS AN TRANSMISSION ISSUE. A WELL KNOWN ONE! I WILL PROVIDE THE SERVICE RECORD IN THIS FOR YOU TO SEE WHAT WAS REPLACED THE NUMBERS AND CODES ETC . IT WAS AT THE SHOP JAN 10-13TH . WELL THEY DID REPLACE SOME PARTS IT WAS STILL DOING THE JERKING STUTTER WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER THE REPAIRS. AGAIN SHE ASSUMED THAT WAS NORMAL BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT MANY TIMES AND WE THOUGHT MAYBE THE ACTUAL PROBLEM SHE HAD WAS FIXED. IT WAS NOT. THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE WILL NEVER BE FIXED FROM WHAT I AM LEARNING TODAY IN REGARDS TO THIS 2016 FOCUS IN THE NEWS . I AM REACHING OUT FOR SOMEONE TO LISTEN TO ALL OF US. IT IS NOT A COINCIDENCE THAT SO MANY OF US CAN NOT SEEM TO GET OUR VEHICLES FIXED AT LEAST IF THEY CAN NOT FIX THEM TAKE THEM BACK! I NEVER KNEW THIS WAS SUCH A HUGE ONGOING PROBLEM WITH ESSENTIALLY DEFECTIVE VEHICLES.. FORD NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. WE WILL TAKE THE CAR IN AGAIN NEXT WEEK FOR THEM TO TELL US ITS "NORMAL". SEAT ALSO HAS STOPPED ADJUSTING.

ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR DINGS AND SENDS A MESSAGE ON THE DASH "ENGINE FAILURE" AND THE CAR LITERALLY SHUTS DOWN. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR, NO LIGHTS, NO BRAKES, NOTHING! LUCKILY I GOT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD SAFELY AND FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED THE KEY OFF. STILL NOTHING... I WAITED ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND THEN TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND THANKFULLY IT STARTED. I DROVE IT TO THE NEAREST PLACE TO HAVE THEM RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND NOTHING CAME UP. FINALLY GOT IT HOME. IT'S NOT DONE THIS AGAIN, BUT NOW IT RUNS ROUGH. LIKE REALLY ROUGH. I'VE HAD THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH FIXED ONCE ALREADY. LUCKILY IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE STALLED DURING A LEFT TURN INTO THE RIGHT LANE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND WAS HIT AS A RESULT. THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN TO FORD PREVIOUSLY DUE TO CONCERNS OF STALLING/SLUGGISH ACCELERATION AT WHICH TIME THE DEALER DISCLOSED AN ISSUE WAS KNOWN THAT WAS MOST LIKELY THE CAUSE. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE CAR AND PERFORMED REPAIRS. THE ACCELERATION SEEMED A LITTLE BETTER BUT STILL NOT RIGHT BASED ON DECADES OF DRIVING EXPERIENCE. I THINK THE CPV ISSUE (18S32/18V-735) MAY HAVE CAUSED THE CAR TO STALL AND BE HIT WHEN IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN HIT OTHERWISE.

THE RPM'S WENT UP TO "THE RED" 7-8, I STARTED LOSING SPEED AND PACING BESIDE THE SEMI- TRUCK. I COULD HOPE MY ACCELERATION ABILITY CAME BACK, OR I WAS GOING TO TRY TO BRAKE AND GO BACK WHEN I SAW ANOTHER CAR BEHIND ME IN THE PASSING LANE, MAKING ME A SITTING DUCK. FOR A FEW SECONDS OF PANIC, I CONSIDERED MY OPTIONS- MOSTLY TO GO OFF IN THE DITCH TO THE LEFT. LUCKILY, THE ACCELERATION CAME BACK AFTER THE NEEDLE ON THE RPM'S WENT HAYWIRE AND I SLOWLY WAS ABLE TO GET IN FRONT OF THE SEMI-TRUCK BEFORE ONCOMING TRAFFIC HIT ME. THE CAR BEHIND ME SPED PAST ME AS I GOT OVER, WITH A LOOK THAT I INTERPRETED AS HE THOUGHT I WAS TRYING TO KILL HIM. AT 47K MILES THE FIRST TRANSMISSION FAULTS BEGAN TO APPEAR. I HAVE ATTACHED COPIES OF THE FORD SERVICES AND TICKETS OPENED DUE TO THE MULTIPLE, ONGOING PROBLEMS. I AM NOT PART OF THE CLASS LEGAL ACTION FOR THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES OF 11-16 FOCUS AND FIESTAS. TAKATA RECALL THE CAR HAS A REALLY ROUGH IDDLE, STALLS AT RANDOM AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON FOR DIFFERENT REASONS EVERY TIME I HAVE REPLACED THE 02 FILLTER TWICE AND IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 5 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH I HAD READ REPORTS THAT OTHER FORD FOCUS CARS HAD SIMMILAR PROBLEMS AND REPLACING THE PURGE IDDLE VALVE HAD SOLVED THEM, BUT AT THE MOMENT FORD IS ONLY ACKNOWLEDGING FOCUSES FROM ONE PATICULAR PLANT.

I'VE BOUGHT A USED 2016 FOCUS SE AT A FORD DEALERSHIP ABOUT A YEAR OR 2 AGO. THE CAR ALREADY AT 50,000 MILES ON IT, I HAD IT FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE THE ENGINE STARTED STUTTERING VERY BADLY DURING SHIFTS SO I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY HAD MY CLUTCH REPLACED. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT 72,000 MILES AND THE STUTTERING DURING SHIFTS STARTED UP AGAIN.

CANISTER PURGE VALVE, ENGINE STALL RECALL. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS ISSUE SINCE I RECIEVED THE CAR FEBUARY 2017. THE ISSUES WAS WHEN I WOULD STEP ON THE GAS TO DRIVE, IT WOULD STALL SLOWLY THE SPEED FROM ITS ORIGINAL SPEED AND CAN FEEL A PULL AND PUSH FROM THE CAR TRYING TO SPEED UP EVEN WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL; THE CAR MOVES SLOW, ITS LIKE ITS TRYING TO GO UP A HILL WITH EFFORT BUT TIRELESS WHEN ITS NOT EVEN GOING UP A HILL. ITS MAKES A LOUD CLANK NOISE WHEN IT TRIES TO SPEED UP. IT DOESNT FEEL SMOOTH WHEN DRIVING. I HAD CALL THE MANUFACTURER FORD SINCE JANUARY 2019. THEY ASK FOR MY DATE OF BIRTH TO SUPPOSELY LOOK FOR ME IN THE SYSTEM AND MAKE ME WAIT FOR 12 MINUTES, THEN THEY HANG UP THE CALL. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT FORD JANUARY 2019, THEY CANCELED IT THE DAY BEFORE. I RECALLED FORD JULY 2019, THEY HANG UP ON ME AGAIN.

RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN DECEMBER OF 2018 FOR THE ENGINE, AND IT STATES IN MY LETTER THAT I DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING, EXCEPT WAIT FOR A CALL/LETTER FROM MY DEALER SAYING THEY HAVE THE PARTS. SINCE IT IS GOING ON 7 MONTHS, AND I KNOW SOMEONE ELSE WHO HAS THIS CAR WHO GOT HIS FIXED IN FEBRUARY, I CAN ONLY ASSUME MY DEALER HAS DECIDED TO NOT SERVICE MY SAFETY RECALL, SINCE THEY ARE PROBABLY UPSET FROM TRYING TO TAKE MONEY FROM ME IN THE PAST AND GETTING REPORTED TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. I'D LIKE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET MY CAR SERVICED, AND I WOULD LIKE IT TO NOT BE AT TOWNSEND FORD. THERE IS A LOCATION IN AYER I CAN GET TO. THIS IS 7 MONTHS NOW THAT MY ENGINE RECALL HAS BEEN IGNORED, AND IT STATES IN THE LETTER I DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE ANY ACTION, YET HERE I AM. GOOD LOOKS TOWNSEND FORD.
PURCHASED VEHICLE IN AUG 2018. VEHICLE HAS STALL ON ME 4 TIMES SINCE I HAD IT ALSO, WENT TO THE FORD HOMESTEAD DEALER FOR RECALL ISSUES BUT CAR SEEM TO STILL STALL. ENDED UP TAKING THE VEHICLE ON 05/17/19 FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND DIAGNOSTIC DUE TO THE CHECK ENGINE CAME ON AND VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PEP BOYS AND WAS THERE ALL WEEKEND. I WAS NOTIFIED THAT MY CAR HAS BEEN RECALLED. I WAITED A FEW MONTHS FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO CALL ME TO LET ME KNOW WHEN I CAN BRING MY CAR IN. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT UPON MYSELF TO REACH OUT TO THEM AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN. THAT BEING SAID, I HAD RESCHEDULED MY APPOINTMENT SEVERAL TIMES (BECAUSE LIFE HAPPENS). I REACHED OUT AGAIN TO RESCHEDULE AND DID NOT RECIEVE A RESPONSE. I REACHED OUT THE LHM CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY SAID SOMEONE WILL BE CONTACTING ME BUT NEVER DID. I FEEL LIKE I AM BEING IGNORED, AND I WANT THIS CAR FIXED OR OUT OF MY LEASE. MY CAR VIBRATES SINCE I BOUGHT IT, AND NOW IT KIND OF SHAKES WHEN I DO A TURN.

INACCURATE FUEL GAUGE. FIRST ISSUE - MY CAR WOULD BE READING THAT I HAD (EXAMPLE) 15 MILES UNTIL EMPTY AND REALLY I HAD 0 MILES UNTIL EMPTY. RAN OUT OF GAS TWICE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. SECOND ISSUE - MY CAR WILL STALL OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING/ACCELERATING AT ANY GIVEN TIME. MUCH WORSE WHEN I HAVE LESS THAN A HALF/QUARTER TANK. MY CAR WILL STILL STALL EVEN WHEN I DO HAVE MORE THAN A HALF TANK OF GAS. MOST TIMES, MY CAR WILL NOT RESTART AFTER THE STALL. THIS ISSUE IS MORE LIKELY TO HAPPEN AS SOON AS I TURN THE CAR ON, AT A DEAD STOP THEN ABOUT TO ACCELERATE, IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN JUNE OF 2018 AND STARTED TO NOTICE THE FUEL TANK ISSUE PRETTY QUICKLY. THE STALLING OUT ISSUE STARTED TO HAPPEN SHORTLY AFTER. I DID RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD.

THERE ARE CLASS ACTION SUITS OVER THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH RECALLS FOR THE FOCUS. FORD DEALERS CHAPMAN FORD, HORSHAM AND HOFFMAN FORD, HARRISBURG, PA, ARE REFUSING TO REPAIR THE FORD FOCUS 2016 CLUTCH THAT IS SLIPPING (ABOUT 48,000 MILES) WITH THEIR REASON BEING THAT THE CAR HAS A BRANDED TITLE. THE CAR WAS IN A MINOR ACCIDENT THAT ONLY AFFECTED THE SIDE OPPOSITE THE TRANSMISSION, AND ANY DEALER CAN CLEARLY SEE THAT ALL THE TRANSMISSION AND SURROUNDING AREAS ARE NOT DAMAGED AND ARE ORIGINAL FORD PARTS. IT WAS REALLY A SMALL AMOUNT OF BODY WORK ON THE OPPOSING SIDE. IF A CLUTCH 'BLOWS UP', THE DRIVER CAN HAVE SERIOUS LEG DAMAGE, AND ALSO THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND CRASH POSSIBILITY. SINCE THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT AFFECTED AT ALL IN THE BRANDED TITLE, FORD SHOULD REPAIR IT FOR FREE. THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH ISSUES ARE ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND SINCE FORD HAS QUIT MAKING THE FOCUS, IT IS EVIDENT THAT FORD KNOWS THEY HAVE CREATED THE CLUTCH ISSUE. THIS AND THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE RECALL ARE VERY DANGEROUS.YOU WOULD NOT WANT YOUR DAUGHTER DRIVING THIS CAR, AND IT NEEDS REPAIRED THIS WEEK. FORD NEEDS TO TAKE CARE OF THE SITUATION THEY KNOWINGLY CREATED. THE BRANDED TITLE HAS NOTHING TO DO AT ALL WITH THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. EVEN THE DEALERS HAVE ADMITTED THAT. CHAPMAN FORD, HORSHAM HAS DIAGNOSED A SLIPPING CLUTCH. I HAVE PAPERWORK.

WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, TRANSMISSION/ENGINE STUTTERS MAKING THE CAR SHUDDER AT LOW SPEEDS. DELAYED AND INCONSISTENT ACCELERATION NOTED DURING SHUDDERING EPISODES. THIS HAPPENS EVERY ACCELERATION UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. IF ACCELERATOR IS ADVANCED MORE RAPIDLY, SHUDDERING NOT NOTED. CAR ONLY HAS 49,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN GOING FROM 1ST GEAR TO 2ND GEAR THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION STRUGGLES TO CHANGE GEAR. LEAVING YOU WITH A DELAY TO ACCELERATE WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY & SOMEWHAT OF A STALL OUT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN INTO TRAFFIC. IT SOUNDS AS IF THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO DROP OUT OF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. IT FEELS AS IF SOMEONE IS PLAYING TUG OF WAR & CAN'T HOLD ONTO THE ROPE WHEN IT IS SHIFTING GEARS; SO IT FEELS LIKE IT WILL FALL OUT OF OR NOT CHANGE GEARS. THE CAUSE OF THE CRASH WAS UNKNOWN AT THE TIME, BUT ON OCTOBER 25, 2018 FORD PUTS OUT A RECALL FOR THE EXACT MODEL FORD FOCUS BECAUSE OF AN ISSUE CAUSING THE CAR TO RANDOMLY STALL. THEY ARE TELLING OWNERS TO KEEP THEIR FUEL TANK ABOVE HALF FULL TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM AND I KNOW AT THE TIME MY FUEL TANK WAS NOT ABOVE HALF AND THE INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE ON. JUST FILLED MY GAS TANK UP THEN AS I LEFT THE GAS STATION GOT ABOUT 1 MILE UP THE ROAD THEN WHILE SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT I TURNED THE AC ON AND IDLE DIPPED, CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO DIE(WHICH IT DID) THEN AS I TRIED TO RE-START, CEL CAME ON AND CAR WOULD NOT START. ABOUT 2 MORE TIMES AND IT FIRED UP ALONG WITH A SERVICE ENGINE SOON MESSAGE ... LUCKILY FOR ME I WAS A BLOCK AWAY FROM FUTURE FORD LINCOLN WHERE I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. 3 DAYS LATER I GOT A CALL SAYING MY VEHICLE WAS READY FOR PICK UP. I GET THERE AND THEY TELL ME THAT THE REASON WAS DUE TO I HAD A AFTERMARKET POWER WIRE ROUTED OVER ENGINE ASSEMBLY CAUSING ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE. SO THEY DISCONNECTED WHAT I PAYED A LOCAL PROFESSIONAL AUDIO SHOP $140 TO INSTALL 2 DAYS AFTER I GOT THE CAR. SO, LONG STORY SHORT, I GET IN THE VEHICLE ONLY TO SEE THAT MY FILL UP @ THE GAS STATION WAS GONE... THEY USED [XXX] NEAR 3/4 OF MY TANK OF GAS PUT OVER 100 MILES ON MY CAR AND I GET 2 BLOCKS AWAY FROM THE DEALER AND AT THE SAME LIGHT..... **** HAPPENS AGAIN!!!! TOOK IT RIGHT BACK TO THE DEALER. JUST GOT MY CAR BACK AFTER 13 DAYS IN THE SHOP AND I COULDN'T BE MORE PISSED! 4TH TIME I HAVE GONE TO PICK IT UP AFTER HEARING THAT THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM ONLY TO GET IN THE CAR, DRIVE IT, AND HAVE IT HAPPEN YET ANOTHER TIME! THEY EVEN TRIED TO TELL ME IT WAS MY RIGHT FRONT AXLE CAUSING THE PROBLEM THIS TIME AROUND. ( I JUST HAD THE LEFT FRONT AXLE REPLACED 2 MONTHS BACK AT ANOTHER DEALER) THROWING GREASE ON A CRANK SENSOR CAUSING MY CEL WITH DTC "P0106, P0236, P0340, P0344,P0365, P051B, P0532, P06A7, P08A9, P08B9" ...BLA BLA BLA... THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS BUT THEY KEEP WANTING TO TELL ME THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM! WHAT A WAIST OF BOTH OUR TIME. NOW THE CAR IS IN MY DRIVEWAY, WONT START, THROWING ABOUT 8 TO 12 CODES AND IM WAITING TO HEAR FROM FORD CUSTOMER CARE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FOCUS. WHILE IDLING, THE VEHICLE SHOOK, A KNOCKING NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE ENGINE, AND OIL FROM THE ENGINE WAS PRESENT UNDER THE HOOD. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP INTO THE NEXT GEAR AND A GRINDING TYPE NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE DIFFERENTIAL. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD ERRONEOUSLY SWITCH INTO THE NEUTRAL POSITION, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AWAY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (GALPIN FORD IN VAN AYES, CA) WERE BOTH NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500.

OUR FORD FOCUS STALLED AND COULD NOT RESTART. THE CAR WAS ABLE TO START UP WITH NO PROBLEM, RUN FOR A FEW MINUTES BUT STALLED WHEN DRIVING. THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER WHEN ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE CAR. CAR HAD BEEN DRIVEN THE DAY BEFORE FOR WELL OVER AN HOUR WITHOUT ISSUE. NO ERROR CODE IS RETURNED TO THE TECHNICIAN WHEN RUNS A DIAGNOSTIC ON THE VEHICLE.

AFTER PURCHASING THIS CAR ON 3/7/2017 WITH 1,909 MILES ON IT. I NOTICED EXTENSIVE BODY DAMAGE THE NEXT MORNING WHICH WAS UNBEKNOWNST TO ME SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN THE EVENING TIME. I NOTIFIED MY DEALER ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT WERE AWARE OF THE PRE EXISTING DAMAGES! I WAS THEN INSTRUCTED TO BRING IT IN FOR REPAIRS AND WAS EVEN CHARGED FOR THE COST OF THE RENTAL COVERAGE! MY VEHICLE BEGAN GIVING ME TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ON 4/19/2017, IT HESITATES TO ACCELERATE WHILE IN MOTION AND WHEN IT FINALLY GETS TO THE SPEED I DESIRE IT JERKS AT TAKE OFF. ALSO, WHEN I START THE ENGINE IT MAKES A LOUD POPPING SOUND FROM THE EXHAUST PIPES, I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE ON 4/24/17 AND ONCE IT WAS RELEASED TO ME IT WAS MAKING THE SAME NOISES THE VERY NEXT MORNING. A SERVICE ADVISOR FROM THE DEALERSHIP EXPLAINED TO ME THAT MY VEHICLE HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. ALSO, THE OVERHEATING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE ENTERED INTO "LIMP HOME" MODE, WHICH ALLOWED THE USE OF THE VEHICLE BUT NOT OVER 5 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE ENGINE FAILURES AND THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STILL EXPERIENCED HESITATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000. UPDATED 08/29/17*LJ *CN

BOUGHT NEW ON 12/25/2015. STARTED HESITATING STARTING OFF, SKIPPING LIKE SPINNING TIRES.GOT WORSE AND LIKE GOING OVER STRIPS IN THE ROAD. AKIN REPLACED THE COMPUTER AND THE CLUTCH 9/2016. DID FINE THEN STARTED AGAIN. HAD IT CHECKED AND COULD NOT MAKE IT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM (01/2017). JUST THIS WEEK (04/06/2017 IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN, AND QUICKLY INCREASED HAPPENING. 04/07/2017 WAS SO BAD IT WOULD NOT CHANGE FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR AND NOW HAS A SCRATCHING/RATTLING NOISE. CALLED DEALER AND SERVICE DEPT. SAYS TO CALL IN THE MORNING AND SET APPT. TO BRING IN. HAD HUSBAND RIDING THIS TIME AND IT IS THE TRANSMISSION. ALSO HAS A SLIGHT DROP OR HESITATION WHILE DRIVING AS IT SEEMS TO BE DROPPING BACK IN POWER AND THEN PICKS BACK UP. VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY. THIS HAPPENS STARTING OFF FROM A STOP, TURNING FROM STOP, GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I DID NOT HAVE THE AIR TURNED ON!

VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TWICE TO THE DEALER TO REPAIR ISSUE WITH THE COOLANT SENSOR AND ASSOCIATED WIRING HARNESS. FAULTY COOLANT SENSOR/WIRING HARNESS/OTHER CAUSES CEL TO ILLUMINATE. DURING NORMAL DRIVING, VEHICLE WILL GO IN TO 'FAILSAFE MODE' WHICH DRASTICALLY LOWERS POWER OUTPUT. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND RANDOMLY. VEHICLE MUST BE RESTARTED FOR IT TO FUNCTION NORMALLY AGAIN. ONLY TO GO BACK IN TO 'FAILSAFE MODE' SHORTLY AFTER. THIS PRESENTS A SAFETY ISSUE DURING MERGING, PASSING, STEEP UPHILL DRIVING, AND ANY OTHER INSTANCE WHICH REQUIRES POWER TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH A MOVING VEHICLE AND/OR STATIONARY OBJECT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE IN 2 DAYS. I WAS MERGING ON TO THE HIGHWAY. I TRY TO MATCH THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC BUT IS UNABLE TO DUE TO THE 'FAILSAFE MODE' MY VEHICLE WAS IN. I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. LUCKILY, THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN ENOUGH NOT TO HIT ME. AND FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NO OTHER VEHICLE BEHIND THEM. MY INABILITY TO MERGE SAFELY IN TO TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY PRESENTS A HUGE SAFETY RISK FOR MYSELF AND OTHER MOTORISTS. *TR
