After recall Campaign 23S64 and the engine being replaced with G1FG-6006-DA and traceability Code [XXX] . Incident Description On Saturday [XXX], while driving on the freeway, my vehicle began sputtering and lost power. The RPMs increased but the speed did not. The check engine light illuminated briefly and then went out. This created an Immediate serious safety hazard to me my passenger and other drivers on the road as I was unable to maintain speed in traffic and had to leave the freeway Immediately. Diagnostic Findings •Initial AutoZone OBD-II scan revealed P0302 (Cylinder 2 Misfire). •Dealer’s own diagnostic later reported P0301 (Cylinder 1 Misfire), with carbon tracking on all spark plugs and ignition coil boots. •Dealer noted the locking tab on Cylinder 3 ignition coil connector was broken, requiring a new pigtail. •Dealer also identified a broken front motor mount, but is attempting to charge me for replacement despite the fact that the mount must be removed and reinstalled during an engine swap. I purchased this vehicle 4 days ago. On the second day I noticed a shutter when accelerating, going uphill and often continuous. I have been told that it is the clutch. I am aware that the same issue on the 2017 focus has been recalled. I do not understand why it is just certain vehicles. Especially, since it is the same year and issue as the recalled ones. I am a police officer that has had some health issues with my heart. My parents gave me the money to buy this car. They do not have the money to repair it and neither do I. I called two Ford dealerships as well as the Ford manufacturer. Nobody was willing to help. I discovered that this is the place to file a complaint all on my own. Please try and help me.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the light changed, and the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle hesitated and then jolted into gear. The contact stated that the failure was a recurring failure. The contact stated that the engine symbol was displayed, and the vehicle failed to respond while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the RPM gauge was RED-lined. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate above 10 MPH. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that at first, he was stopping the vehicle and turning off and restarting the vehicle to reset the transmission. The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while stopped at the bank drive-thru line, the vehicle stalled. After several attempts, the vehicle restarted. The failure was progressively worsening. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, and the fuel pump, AX Sender, and pump assembly, AA gasket, B sensor, and fuel injector pressure parts were replaced. The contact stated that on another occasion, while driving in heavy traffic at 35 MPH, the vehicle stalled with several warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that several months ago, on a separate occasion, while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart, and the contact waited for approximately an hour before the vehicle restarted. The vehicle was taken to several dealers to be repaired. While an employee from one of the dealers was test-driving the vehicle, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that there were fuel vapors in the line, and that the high side sensor pressure dropped, and low side sensor pressure dropped. The vehicle was repaired. Most recently, the contact stated that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a claim. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

My car has been having on going issue with the canister purge valve causing my vehicle to stall I’ve had this replaced by an emissions approved mechanic and this issue still persists if the fuel isn’t above a half tank of gas it has stalled on highways and put me in dangerous conditions. I have been trying for years to resolve and I can’t
Vehicles Canister Purge Valve was replaced and acting up again.
I bought my car in early 2022 or 2023 and almost immediately the car started shuddering when accelerating. I took the vehicle in to the place I bought it from and one other Ford Dealer. Neither places could "duplicate the problem." Bith times I had to pay money just to have it looked at, and nothing was ever fixed. My horn keeps quitting and the shuddering has gotten so bad and now there are new issues like loss of power when accelerating. This car is starting to become a safety issue for me as I live in Washington State and the traffic here is very fast. I have almost been hit due to trying to pull out or merge and the car loses power or winds way out. I am a [XXX] who can't afford automotive bills. They will only give me $2700.00 as a trade in and I owe $12,000. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Ford oil pump tensioner belt failed
Catastrophic engine failure, engine died and was unable to shift into gear My 16 year old daughter was driving on a busy highway when the engine died, causing her to stop completely on a 55 MPH road. She was unable to get the car into a gear to have it pushed to the side of the road and had to sit in the car with traffic flying by her until we could get a tow truck (approximately 30 minutes). She was unable to get out due to the traffic being so heavy. The vehicle had a limited warranty left on it, and it was towed to a facility where they diagnosed with blown head gasket and/or cracked cylinder head. It was towed to a dealership where it was discovered the car had an active recall that caused the engine failure. There was no warning signs previously.
On July 2nd my daughter was driving her car and the engine slowed and turned off. She tried to out it in reverse and it would not function. We took it to our mechanics and he got a P287A - code - I then spoke with Ford Customer Service and they stated the extended warranty on that same issue expired June 30th and advised me to reach out to you as the extended warranty was not listed for our vehicle I am hoping someone can help us since we are under the mileage and it was only a few days past the time frame. Thank you
dual clutch on automatic transmission failure purchase vehicle in 2017 and has had to be replaced 4 times and it is going on its 5th time While driving the vehicle slowed down, check engine came on and off then I lost power completely. Clutch needs to be replaced at 77,000 miles. This is a related issue with Ford Focus vehicles’ transmission. I was never told that the transmissions were an issue when I purchased this vehicle. I took it to ford and they said it’s wear and tear instead of addressing the issue that the transmission is bad. They wanted $4000 for repairs. I paid $17k cash for this car. The car does not switch gears and makes grinding noises when driving or coming to a stop.

I had a head gasket repair that failed almost causing an accident on the interstate. Then I had a new long block engine assembly, turbo charger, catalytic converter replaced due to a crack in cylinder 3. Car had 45,500 miles and never ran without oil. This occurred [XXX]. Warranty did cover this repair. Then at 65,000 miles I had another new long block assembly, turbo charger, and catalytic converter replaced again due to a crack in cylinder 3. Again the car was not run without oil. I did pay for this repair. Kunes Ford service department told me that the same cylinder 3 keeps cracking on the 1L 3 cylinder eco boost engines. Also be advised that they are not listing engine replacements on service repair records. The engine/turbo charger/catalytic converter replacement from July 2024 is not even listed. A case was opened with Ford but I still had to pay $1500 for the repair due to a manufacturer defect in cylinder 3. Ford is not listing any of these repairs correctly on the vehicle service records. The July 2024 repair is not even listed under the service records. Ford also had cases opened up but I do not currently have the case numbers. Kunes Ford has the no fear power train warranty, all service done at Ford and it was not honored for this repair. Current Ford recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V905000 only includes VINs with automatic transmissions. However, the oil pump belt & timing belt are the same used on the automatic transmissions that are subject of the recall. These components are just as likely to fail on manual transmission VINs but are not included in the current campaign.
The component or system failed or malfunction: The oil pump failed because of the belt the operated the pump. The oil pump drive belt material degraded lost teeth, resulting in a loss of oil pressure and also causing the engine to seize up. Safety or risks: There was no safety risks because I was able to control the vehicle and get it off the road safely. The problem has been reported to the dealer and vehicle is still in possession of the dealer. There was no advance warning lamps or messages prior the the failure. The vehicle just stalled out and could not be re-started. The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealer at this time.

January 2025 Vehicle experienced verified oil belt tensioner failure as the same in the recall #23564 My VIN is not in the recall list even though it is the same make model and year of the effected vehicles. The reason I believe it is not on the recall list is due to that they only included automatic transmissions and not the vin's of manual transmission. I have a manual transmission and so my VIN reflects a manual transmission. The transmission has nothing to do with the oil belt tensioner in this case as the motor/oil belt tensioners are the same design. I am requesting for an expedited review of this information to get all manual transmissions added onto the recall list which I've been told by Ford that only you can add vehicles to that list.

Car has loss of power, loss of power brakes, low engine oil pressure. Current recall 23S64 does not cover my vin but my car is experiencing the same issues. My car is in the same date range and has the same engine. Car was diagnosed with bad oil pump/belt. I have contacted Ford multiple times about having my car included in recall with no resolution.
I started driving and the car seemed to act rough. I went up a small hill and I had almost no power halfway up. The car showed the symbol of the little car that looks like it is sliding. I had to chug up the rest of the hill fighting the car itself because there was no where else to go. It kept revving but went no more than about ten mph. Once I got over the top I pulled into someone's driveway so I could get back home. I was unable to reverse. The car just revved. I had to turn off the car, put it in neutral, and push the car backwards out of the driveway. I was able to start the car and nurse it home, but it jumped and revved the entire time. I tried to use down hills to my advantage and barely paused at stop signs for fear of getting stuck on the road. I got to my house and parked. Now the car only starts when it wants to. I checked codes and got P287A for the clutch. I haven't called Ford for service options yet because I really don't know what to do and have no idea how I'd get there. I think this car should have been included in the powertrain recall because this came out of nowhere.

I was driving on I-90 at speed when the engine red warning light came on and the engine lost power and started making a lot of noise. I had to pull off on the shoulder of the interstate and shut down engine. Waited for 5 minutes and restarted engine but the warning light remained on. Fortunately, I was near an exit and limped to my maintenance provider. Their diagnosis was that the oil pump had failed and it was providing no oil pressure at all. They also said that there was an existing recall #23V905000 that pertained to this failure of the oil pump. I then contacted Ford and was told that my VIN number was not linked to the recall number because my car has a manual transmission. It is obvious that the recall is due to an engine oil pump failure and that has absolutely nothing to do with either a manual or automatic transmission.

Dear NHTSA Recall Division, I am writing to bring to your attention a safety and performance issue related to a potential defect in the EVAP canister purge valve of my 2017 ford focus, which may be linked to the previously issued recall for this component. The EVAP canister purge valve in my vehicle has become stuck in the open position, resulting in the engine burning an excessive amount of fuel. This has led to an overly rich fuel mixture, which has placed significant strain on the vehicle's catalytic converter. As a result, the converter is showing signs of damage, including clogging, rough idle, and potential stalling Given the severity of this issue, I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate the potential consequences of this defect and determine if the damage to the catalytic converter—stemming from the malfunctioning purge valve—should be addressed through an expanded recall. The defect appears to not only affect engine performance but could also present long-term risks to vehicle safety, including the possibility of unexpected stalling while driving. I respectfully ask for guidance on the appropriate steps to take in order to address this matter, including whether additional recalls or safety measures will be initiated to cover the catalytic converter damage caused by the faulty EVAP canister purge valve. Additionally, I would appreciate any further instructions on how to proceed with obtaining repairs or replacements for the defective parts. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response and assistance in ensuring the safety and performance of affected vehicles.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving approximately 25-35 MPH, the oil pressure warning light illuminated. Cruise control fails constantly, has trouble picking up speed going up hills. Can't maintain speed on hills and sloaps. Gave to dealership for two months said it was fine only for them to tell me they had no mechanic. Engine continues to fail and they won't check for new recall for free on my car. My check ending light is currently on, I believe it is the same issue with the other Ford Focus recall.

I purchased a 2017 Ford Focus from a car dealership called lion cars on 4201 West Colonial Drive in Orlando Florida the car has a major major electrical issue I was at an intersection and the car went completely dead and turned off and it locked me inside the car I couldn't get out of the car the windows would not roll down the doors were not unlocked and the car started smoking finally I got out then 3 days later I turned around and try to get in the car and the car also locked me in out of the car where I couldn't use my key fob nothing on the car works I did a report on it I found out that the car had been in two major crashes and both reports stated severe damage and when you drive down the road it pulls to the left I brought this attentia attention of lying car dealership they said that they would fix the car or they will replace the car and they never did so now I am without a car I am without my money back and I am without replacement car so
My check engine light came on. I stopped at Auto Zone and had the check engine light read. The code came back as P1450 (Canister Purge Valve). Upon checking the Ford Website to run my VIN for recalls, nothing came back for my vehicle. I checked NHTSA and learned there have been 6 recalls, and 2 of those 6 seem to fit the issue I am having. However, since my VIN was not identified as one of the affect VINs, I am not able to take advantage of either recall, Ford's number for this recall is 18S32 and 19S22.

I haven't had the problem yet with the oil pump drive belt tensioner failing but would just like to say that Ford should be forced to buy back the effected vehicles with the 1.0 Ecoboost engine. As the owner of a 2017 Focus I'm stuck with a virtually worthless car that I'm afraid to drive or put my family in. Ford has had more that one year to date to come up with parts to fix this and still nothing. It's outrageous that owners are stuck with these vehicles. Ford's current update on the recall says to drive it and if it fails they'll replace the engine. What if it fails on the interstate doing 70 mph? Oh and the replacement engine still has the defective parts in it so it's a temporary repair.

The vehicle shutters and has stalled while trying to cross an intersection, almost causing an accident while my children were in the car. It will shutter at take off from a complete stop and will randomly change gears while driving at a constant speed on a level road. When it stalls the wheel locks up as well preventing you from steering off the road and to safety
I was on my way home from work when my oil light came on and I began losing acceleration on a busy highway. It wouldn't let me go above 20 mph which was definitely unsafe due to the nature of traffic on the highway. I managed to pull over and get my car towed to the most recent place I had an oil change. After a few days, they stated that the vehicle had sustained a loss of engine oil pressure and that there was a recall for this issue. They also stated to contact Ford and that the vehicle was undriveable. When I checked the open recalls, I confirmed that there was indeed a recall open for this issue concerning the oil pump, however, Ford Motors state that they will not have the parts available until 1st Quarter 2025. This is puts the timeframe on a remedy at roughly 3-7 months, which is unacceptable as this is my only vehicle and the only way I am able to get to work.

Vehicle has low oil pressure, loss of power and disintegrating oil pump belt. There is a recall on this type of vehicle (23S64) but for automatic transmission only. This vehicle is a standard transmission but with all the same issues. The car has been serviced by an independent service tech. Oil pressure sensor, vacuum pump valve and purge valve have been replaced. The check engine light is on and also when car experiences power loss there is a warning that flashes that says "Engine Fault Service Now"
car is shaking and wanting to drive less and less lately its not moving faster then 20 mph. I have no other way to work and I'm sure this will cause an accident soon.

My car, which has just over 70,000 miles on it, has a malfunctioning transmission, often stalling, revving, failing to shift gears or reverse, and other issues, putting me and my passengers in potentially dangerous situations. I have taken my car to the mechanic twice and after replacing the clutches, the clutch motors, and the TCM, the problem has only worsened and he’s verified that the problem lies in the transmission itself.

Car lost power in the middle of the road, pulled over and it seemed fine when I checked it but as I drove off again the engine fault light came on and it started overheating and said to pull over immediately to not damage the engine. Afterwards, it’s not able to start at all. It’s been at the ford dealership ever since awaiting ford to fix the problem, meanwhile I’m stuck making payments on a car that is undriveable with no idea of when I will be able to drive it again.

The engine light came on and the car became hard to drive and steer. This was dangerous on the freeway; slowing and not operating properly in traffic. The car was then repaired and able to be driven for about 5 months and then it repeated with the oil pump belt shredded. The repair was done at a cost of approximately $2000. This didn’t fix the actual problem. The whole episode was repeated and the car became inoperable again. The car was towed to the Ford dealership and they are waiting for the parts from the Ford company to repair it. It has been sitting for almost three months inoperable. The recall came out in early January and it seems there should be parts to fix it by now. It is a huge financial burden.
My 2017 ford focus engine has failed because of the oil system parts in the safety recall 23S64. While I was driving I got the hazard notification and a red oil notification shortly before the engine failed. No accident was caused but the car no longer runs. This happened back in February of this year and it has been 4 months since then. I have lost my job because of no longer being able to drive. I’m living below my means due to having no vehicle. When I have called them they refuse to give me a rental and only tell me that I need to wait. I need a car for work and they have offered no assistance.

The car when hot after driving for a while shutters when taking off from a light or stop
whenever im at a stop light the car stalls and one time it completely stopped and I had to pull over and restart the car.

Engine failed while being driven. Closely avoided a major accident.individual mechanic said 23s64 failure. Check oil light appeared almost immediately. Called closest. Dealership they said parts unavailable for another 2-3 months. This is not acceptable. Why was I never notified of this recall. Need transportation to medical appointments frequently.
The oil pump in the 1.0L Ecoboost motor failed, causing the engine to stop working properly. This is the same motor that is already subject to recall, but mine has a manual transmission, so Ford has not included it in the recel (23S64). It is the exact same motor with the exact same problem, but they are not considering it part of the recall because of the manual transmission. They wont' act without being forced to do so. I don;t understand why I have the exact motor with the exact issue, but am not subject to the recall.
The clutch on my 2017 Ford focus needs to be replaced due to it slipping/shuttering when I go to accelerate.

I went out and started it to go to work in the morning back in January this year. It had trouble turning over and I thought it was just because it was really cold outside. I sat and waited for it to warm up before attempting to leave the parking lot. I backed out of my parking space and started out of the parking lot and it just had no power, sounded rough, then just died. I was able to start it one more time and got it back into my parking spot before it died again. It wouldn't start again after that. Nothing was wrong with it when I drove it home from work the night before that.

In Jan. 2022, my car wasn't running right and Sam Scism's Ford put a new engine in it which was covered at the time by an extended warranty. In March 0f 2024, I tried to start my car and it would not start. I had it towed to Scism's and again they said the engine was bad. My warranty was out and they said the warranty on the motor was also out. After doing some research I found that this is a problem with the Focus. I feel that this should be covered since we've already had an engine put in and it certainly should have lasted longer than two years. I would appreciate any assistance or advice you could give me on this situation. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
After fuel up the vehicle will stall when attempting to start and throw codes: p1450 and p0456. As well as try to stall and slower speeds and stops. After the engine light turns on the fuel gauge seems to have an incorrect reading.
Engine failed on our 2017 Ford Focus with 1.0 liter Ecoboost engine while driving the vehicle under normal operating conditions on December 14, 2023. Car experienced a dramatic loss of power while driving. Vehicle appeared to not be shifting correctly and would not accelerate. Owner worked to get vehicle to a safe location off the road when "Engine Fault, Service Now" message appeared. Driver pulled off into parking lot ASAP and stopped vehicle. Inspection of vehicle after stopping showed engine fluids had leaked out of engine starting back through parking lot to road. Did not attempt to restart vehicle and had vehicle towed back to repair shop for diagnosis. Initial diagnosis discovery revealed the vacuum pump had failed, along with the turbo charger. Additional follow up inspection revealed after draining fluids pieces of rubber and metal shavings in the drained oil. Rubber pieces appear to be related to timing belt failure. Engine replacement costs of $7100 dollars were incurred on Vehicle was purchased in 2021 with 17,000 miles on it purchase value $15,000. Difficult and very costly situation since the vehicle is needed for school and work with no good alternate vehicles available. Used to advocate for Ford products since purchasing a 2016 Escape. Very disappointed in the quality of the 1.0 liter engine.
I was driving the car home and the oil light started to flash. I stopped and checked the oil level and it was fine. The oil light then stayed on and I started to notice a slight loss in power, then pinging noises coming from the engine. I did not drive the car after this. I called the dealer and the car was towed to Palm Coast Ford. The dealer called back and said the engine was blown, metal in the engine. After research, I found out there is a recall on the car, 23S64. At first the dealer said there was nothing they could do, but now Ford has agreed to give me a rental car until the issue is resolved.

I bought this car a few months ago with no problems from a used car dealership in Kentucky. A few days later the check engine light came on and the turbo was not working. Turbo was replaced and the vacuum lines were found to be full of oil and rubber causing the waste gate actuator to not release vacuum which in turn burnt up the turbo. It's been about 1,000 miles and now I getting an underboost code while driving of P0299. The turbo appears to be failing again. I have found more rubber and oil in the vacuum lines along with buildup inside the vacuum pump. This appears to be coming from the wet rubber belt inside the engine. I have stopped driving it while waiting on the oil pump wet belt recall. The turbo failure is related directly to this problem with the oil pump belt due to clogging up the vacuum pump and vacuum lines.
I acquired the Ford Focus 2017 from Envision Toyota in Milpitas, California, in November 2022. In August 2023, the vehicle experienced an engine failure at 53,000 miles. Subsequently, the car was at the Ford dealership for an extended period until the engine replacement was completed by the end of October 2023. Upon retrieving the car on [XXX], 2023, I encountered various issues, including coolant leakage, problems with coolant pressure, braking issues (resulting in extensive vibrations), and the engine stalling in traffic. While the coolant problem was eventually resolved after four additional visits to the dealership, involving adjustments to pressure, replacement of thermostats, sensors, and the cooling reservoir, the persistent issues with the engine stalling and braking were not addressed, even after multiple extended visits to the dealership. Despite having the car for several weeks during each visit, the problems persisted. We retrieved the car before Christmas and reported the ongoing issues to the dealership, but due to international travel plans, I was unable to return the car for further inspection. We have returned from our travels on [XXX] 2024. On [XXX], 2024, my son was driving to the gym with friends when, while in a central left turn lane to enter the gym, the engine failed again. Unfortunately, another vehicle approaching from the right side collided with him, while he was stationary, resulting in the total loss of the car. In November 2023, I initiated a case with Ford, requesting them to repurchase the vehicle due to numerous safety concerns, and the case number is [XXX]. Despite reporting issues to both Ford and the dealership (which was able to reproduce them), resolution has been delayed, and Ford seems to be procrastinating in addressing the situation. It is crucial to note that the Ford Focus SE 2017 model appears to have inherent issues with gaskets, and it appears that Ford may be concealing these concerns. Good Morning, I hope you are having an amazing day , I first financed this car in 2018 but the car was made in 2017. I searched my vin number to see if my car was a part of the recall list and was not. I have been getting a code P1450 since about 40,000 miles, my car has been stalling upon acceleration since I got it. and I had the part replaced, a year and a half later the code popped up again and I got the part repaired and still the same issues, after the part has been repaired as well as a PCM issue is now happening. My car shudders between the 1 and 2 on the acceleration , this has been happening since I got the car but the salesman told me that this was not an issue and it was normal for the fords to do this. I have been having issues with my car starting up in the mornings mainly a lag in the ignition. I believe my car should have been a part of that list but was not. Please investigate

The vehicle was eventually towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the engine was faulty, and the engine long block and turbo charger needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 66,533.

The belt to open oil pressure valve had all the teeth worn away. No oil was getting to the engine. Where it is located no one could ever check when doing my regular oil changes. Engine had to be replaced.
I was driving on a highway during rush hour and as I attempted to slow how ever the engine was not responding. The car then alerted me to stop the car as there is issue with the engine and I need to “stop for safety” I pull the call over immediately on the side of a highway & was met by high patrol and a tow company.
My 2017 Ford focus oil light came on. I took the car to brad manning Dealership in Dekalb, Illinois. They charged me 160.00 to diagnose the problem. They said that there is an advance recall on my vehicle and Ford knows about the problem with the oil injectors. They reached out to Ford as I also did and was told that they would repair the issue in the second quarter which is from April 2024 to June 2024. The only recourse they offered was to pay the 8,000 plus to replace the engine and get reimbursed in the second quarter. I was told not to drive the car because the engine will lock up and stop wherever. I don't have 8,000 dollars and I can't drive a car that I purchased for Ford that they know is a problem and refuse to fix my car. So, I am without a car to get to work or anywhere else because of Fords manufacturing issues
Driving on Interstate-95, when Oil Pressure light illuminated, at first very dim, and then within an 1/8 of a mile, lost all power and the engine began to sound like a tank. Pulled over to shoulder and tried to re-start the vehicle with no luck. Brought vehicle to Ford Dealership and was advised of a Service Bulletin of a timing belt failure and I was to replace the engine long block and turbo. Seems ridiculous that I had to spend out of pocket money to replace a known failure at 67,000 miles when according to Service Manual, INSPECT TIMING BELT AT 150,000 Miles. I want justice and a FULL refund for this issue. This issue has also caused a streamline of failures within the vehicle due to disruption of seals amongst most of my rubber lines.
The transmission is slipping on my 2017 Ford Focus. There is delayed braking, acceleration and harsh vibrations. There is already a recall on 2011-2016 ford transmissions. 2017 needs to be included!
While driving on interstate, an oil light came on and vehicle slowed rapidly causing a very unsafe situation with attempting to safely pull over. Once pulled over, I did not want to risk further engine damage, so I shut off immediately and had vehicle towed to dealer. Even though I placed a large sign on steering wheel and keys not to run engine, dealer states test driving. Further examination reveals the oil pump is seized and my only option for repair is a new engine. The recommended maintenance for the oil pump is 150,000 miles and it failed at 69,000 miles without any warning or recommendation for service by Ford. This is a know issue that is putting hundreds of thousands drivers world wide at risk of a potential serious accident if power loss occurs at an inopportune time!

Wet belt failure due to manufacture decent and design flaw. Wet belt seized up the motor at 80,000 miles no oil went to motor and we had to replace it. Motor cost us 6,000 and we had to buy a used one because ford stopped making them because of the defect. However they refused to help financially with the motor. We were also told that the wet belt can break again so basically the car is useless and we can’t sell it to anyone knowing that it is defective. We want the car purchased back from ford.

I was headed back home for thanksgiving, traveling down I20 from Birmingham to Anniston AL, when the oil light suddenly came on, then 2 minutes later a "default Engine-service now" warning appeared. The car immediately started making a loud rattling noise, sputtered and stopped accelerating. I almost got rear-ended and was terrified! I managed to exit the interstate and pulled into a gas station. Checked oil levels, which were fine. Got back on I20 and drove slowly (with hazard lights flashing) back to previous exit, where there was an express oil change. They could not identify the exact problem, but mechanic speculated it was the oil pump since he just fixed another ford vehicle with the same issue. I had my car towed back to Pep Boys in [XXX] (where I live). After inspecting my vehicle, I was informed that the oil pump had completely malfunctioned. The whole thing, including belts and tensioner had to be replaced. I'm still waiting to find out if any further damage was caused to the engine. So far, the bill is up to $4000 and I have been without a vehicle for 6 days. I would like to note that I completed regular oil changes and maintenance on this vehicle. Upon searching online, I have seen many other reports of this same issue on Ford Focus models, yet there has been no recall or action taken by ford and no action taken by the NHTSA. On three occasions the engine, on my 2017 Ford Focus, has stalled while driving, without warning and without the ability to restart the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. The 1st two times (Sept 5th and 29th) it stalled the check engine and battery light came on. When it stalled the 3rd time (Oct 28th) only the check engine light came on. I had repairs done to the car when it stalled the 2nd time but after the repair work was complete the car still stalled. I researched online and Ford had recalled the Ford Focus for intermittent stalling but when I called them and gave them my VIN # they said my car was not on the list, but they suggested I contact you to report the safety issue I am having with my car. I am very, very afraid to drive it, since it puts my safety at risk and my husband and children. My car is our main driving source.
My vehicle has had some trouble turning over recently and my check engine light came on shortly after. I ran a diagnostic and was given the code P1450 and who's symptoms were in line with what my car has experienced. I see that there was a recall for other 2012-2018 Ford Focuses with identical problems with my car also having a 2.0 liter GDI engine and was manufactured in the Michigan Ford plant prior to February 2 2018 (the Ford employee I spoke to confirmed that my Focus was built in January of 2017). My car has yet to stall or fail to turn over completely but the problem is becoming more frequent and I believe that my vehicle is one that should have been part of the recall as I'm experiencing identical problems and my vehicle meets the criteria for other vehicles that were part of the recall.
The recall that Ford has out on Focus’s between 2012-2018 is exactly the problems my 2017 ford focus is having, where it stalls constantly and won’t turn on after. I’ve tried filing with only premium gas, keeping my tank full and it is still happening. I’ve had my vehicle towed multiple times. I’ve had the canister purge valve replaced and am still having issues.
Car has 61,000 miles on it, after leaving home and getting on the interstate my wife and I felt the car lurch and the oil light came on. We pulled over and the lifters were ticking and we shut the engine off and had the car towed home(about a mile) I drained the oil and there was rubber chunks in it. Dropped the oil pan and the oil pump belt tensioner is broken, cogs are stripped off the belt and it became apparent that our oil pressure dropped to zero at highway speed, had we not been in the right lane and pulled over quickly the motor would have locked up at 70mph. I did some research and found the problem to be somewhat widespread. I contacted Ford hoping for a goodwill gesture considering the miles and was told there will be nothing they can do about it. We made the last two car payments on it and it has sat untouched on jackstands in the driveway since then.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated when the vehicle was started, the check engine warning light illuminated. The purge valve keeps failing causing hard starts and uneven pressure in the fuel tank
In may of 2022, while driving at highway speed (approximately 65 MPH) my engine stopped working overheated and I almost crashed attempting to get off the highway. The vehicle mileage was just over 40,000 miles. The reason was vehicle oil pump stopped working due to pieces of debris from engine rubber drive chain clogged engine oil filter. This has occurred over and over on the 1.6 liter eco boost engine. Engine was replaced under warranty and I was given a 12 month 12,000 mile warranty on replaced engine. During the time of the warranty I on numerous occasions dealt with overheating issues as coolant level was constantly low. On one occasion engine stopped working and steam bellowed out almost again causing a crash at highway speed. Engine was diagnosed in 7/2023 by local Ford dealership of engine block grooves allowing coolant to leak into cylinders which led to catastrophic engine failure. My vehicle now has just over 50,000 miles and Ford states that since I am over my 60 month power train warranty they will do nothing to cover costs on a 3rd engine replace. That is 2 separate instances where engine completely failed and stopped while driving at highway speeds and at least 2 times where engine overheating nearly caused the vehicle to become overheated to the point of causing a fire.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated and started to shake with the RPM increasing. The vehicle was taken to an AutoZone to be diagnosed. The mechanic retrieved DTC: P0456 (EVAP leak). Additionally, the contact stated that the 02 sensor was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

Driving and car no longer would accelerate, this could have been very dangerous had I been traveling on a fast paced road/highway and even more concerning with my child in the car. oil pressure light and check engine light came on simultaneously when this issue happened. Car was immediately turned off in hopes of not damaging the engine. There was no warning of any type of issue with the car. Has been running fine for almost 6 years, until this. 2017 Ford Focus Ecoboost SE Approx 59,000 miles.
The vehicle has an intermittent problem that causes it to lose power, become unresponsive, and leave the occupants vulnerable to a collision if it becomes necessary to accelerate from cross traffic or to be rear ended due to rapid deceleration. At random intervals usually daily the check engine light will begin to flash and pressing the throttle the driver will find that the vehicle will not accelerate. This condition last typically 30 seconds, during that time the vehicle is essentially coasting along under simple inertia. Then as suddenly as it began the light turns off and the car returns to normal. My vehicle experienced catastrophic failure during one such episode resulting in a thrown rod in cylinder number 3, the vehicle had the engine replaced under warranty at a cost of $12,000. After the car was returned I found that it continued to experience the same problem, returned to the place that installed the engine and they weren't able to repair the problem. Was directed to take to Temecula Ford, they required I allow their technician to drive the vehicle home nightly over 40 miles each direction and after 2 weeks weren't able to supposedly recreate the problem. I picked the car up with nothing to show but extra miles. Immediately the problem once again began, I scanned the ecu and took screen shots and data recordings to provide the dealer. Directed to return the car, they had it another week and despite having the provided information stated they couldn't duplicate the issue. Decided to take it to another local dealership, they had it a week and stated the problem was caused by using NGK spark plugs instead of MotorCraft plugs. I informed them they were installed with the new engine and they required I purchase their spark plugs. I paid $400 for plugs and picked the vehicle up, the problem persisted. I was however given a refund. Still can't use the car, Ford corporation refused to do anything for me.
Driving 75mph down the frontage road. The car just stopped. No warning no lights just a violent stop. If there were cars behind us or we were on the highway we could be dead right now!! It stopped no lights took us 2 hrs to get the car home with a no service area. It was clicking in the engine. After it was parked for hrs. This is the second time in 7 months this car has had a serious manufacturer problem! It is unsafe and I will never drive it again!!! Bad for having only 63,000 miles on it!! I got it with 52,000 miles and it broke down instantly with a transmission problem. Was in the shop for 4 months and now this. Dangerous
Driving on 2 lane, car suddenly went dead at 60 mph . Able to get off road. Cranked back up. Checked for code and fuel tank had vacuum lock. Checked with ford. There is a recall on that but not my vin number. Took to Ford garage x4 paid eval. Fee of $159 twice to diagnose. No success. They replace fuel door and clutch total bills approx $500. Last failed attempt to fix the problem revealed more trouble... back end was swerving and jerking.. felt out of control. Somehow when the clutch wS changed out the rear shocks and front struts were busted. And No I didn't take it back after that. Why does mt car show recall code is problem yet vin not covered and garage tries to fix everything but the recall prob and makes everything worse. I do not have the money to throw into these "fixes" I an disabled on tight budget. This is a problem that began on the assembly line at time vehicle was manufactured. I bought I n good faith and ended up with a lemon.
Car is now shutting off while driving. It shut off on me 3 times almost causing several accidents. I called a Ford dealership about current recall and was told I would be charged for a diagnostic and have to pay out of pocket
This regards my 2017 Ford Focus. The car is 6 years old, I am still making payments on it, has a little over 50,000 miles on it, has been maintained by Ford every year since I bought it, and the transmission and extended warranty had just expired about 2 months ago. A few weeks ago, I'm driving down the freeway around 1pm Pacific, traveling about 60mph when the engine seemed to 'seize up', the engine light came ON, the car jerked several times creating a severely dangerous driving hazard as I tried to keep it under control. It slowly began losing speed, so I made my way off the freeway and made my way to the Ford dealer who had been maintaining the car. It felt like the car was going to stall any minute so I'm lucky I got to the dealer. It took them a few days to get back to me, and they then told me the entire engine and 'boost system' needed to be replaced at a cost of approx. $7,000 (probably just to get another defective engine). They tried to work with Ford to get some financial assistance since this is obviously a defective car, but Ford refused. The dealer suggested I call Ford, so I did, and spoke with a rep and a supervisor on May 22, told them their car was defective and my life had been put in danger, and they both told me they wouldn't help in any way. As I write this, the dealer has ordered parts and am awaiting repairs. I will have been without a car for 3 weeks, paying for Lyft and borrowing cars to get to work. I understand there's a class action lawsuit (Barnes et al vs Ford, US District Court of Delaware Case 1:22-cv-00823). Ford should buy my car back.

The vehicle shakes, stalls shuts off when filling up with gas. Once gas is added, you have to keep the feet on the gas (reveing up to ensure it starts), then drive to get the gas flowing into the engine. The vehicle was taken for diagnostic with an Auto Zone and a mechanic and the codes pulled (more than once) was...P1450 and P2196. This was brought to the attention of dealer at time of purchase and requested another vehicle. They ensured it could be fixed; after another yr. or more now the codes are appearing again. I have dates for repair, but will have to get copies of work completed from the dealer.

I was driving home from my mother's home and the car swerved and was hard to keep control of. The next day I was headed to work and the warning came on that the transmission was too hot. I let it cool down for 15 minutes and the message said it was safe to drive, but the process repeated 4 times.i called for tow to the mechanic and he said it was a transmission control module. The part was on backorder for se eral weeks. When they tried to do the repair it did not work.
I went to pull into traffic and when I pushed on the gas to hurry it just did a jumping stuttering type of thing. I almost got hit, it’s like it just doesn’t want to engage right away and I don’t know if it’s the clutch or transmission. Hills are also an issue, just jerks and jumps trying to go into a gear. I was told this car would not have the same problem as the previous years but I am very upset and lucky I didn’t get killed. Thank you my number is [XXX]. While driving, the ROM is unstable and jumps from 1 to 3 then all the way to zero when pressing the brakes preparing to make a stop. The car then starts to shudder excessively and then basically shuts down in the middle of the highway. The oil and battery light would come on. I would have to quickly place the car in park, and turn the car back on. Once I turn the car on, the oil and battery light turns off and the engine light stays on until it is brought to the ford dealership. This situation has happened about four times. Each time it is an issue with a pressure sensor but when the dealership goes in to check, they don’t find anything wrong. The car had stopped in the middle of the highway multiple times, slips and jerks during the smallest acceleration, and consistently shudders when breaking or idle.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. So in 2019 or 2020 i honest cant remember because it has happening many times and ive taken it to the dealership and nothing gets done but I had the headgasket recall done on my car. My car is modified and the recall job was still performed. Afterwards i started to experience problems witht the motor. I notice i was loosing oil fast and it was also all over the side of the engine. also when it would be cold and rain, my car would struggle to startup and sometimes the engine would not want to run. the car never threw a code so when i took it back to the dealership they would let it sit, the condensation would disappear and the car would run fine. After spending time on the internet and seeing a couple of other mechanics it came down to the TIMING COVER being install improperly due to the headgasket job performed. TIMING COVER is leaking oil from thetop of the engine which also lets in condisation inside the engine that also gives me problems when it rains. The dealership that worked on the car does not want to fix the issue becasue the car is modified even though its been proven that any modifications will not cause a timing cover to leak oil unless the headgaket job was done impropely. now i am stuck with a bad engine when it was working fine before the recall.
I financed a 2017 Ford Focus se 6 speed manual in March of 2020 (it’s now aug 2022), and about a month ago I was driving a main hwy when I needed to downshift due to traffic. I go to put it in 3rd and instead it slips into 1st. (It’s not suppose to allow you to do that, states in the owners manual bc it’s a safety feature). Meanwhile it is stuck in 1st, redlining, as I’m in the middle of a busy highway unable to do anything. I had to push the car off the road in order to not get hit by oncoming cars. Called Ford, called the dealership, found out there’s a recall on the engine and the transmission but neither of them would Honor the recall. Attorney’s won’t do a thing about it, and now I’m stuck paying $8k on a car I can no longer drive. I promise this is the last time I’ll EVER own a ford.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local Pep Boys where it was diagnosed that the failure was associated with the fuel system and fuel tank. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where an unknown repair and an unknown software update were completed; however, the vehicle failed to start a month later. The contact later drove the vehicle but the vehicle would not exceed 10 MPH. The vehicle was towed to a second dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module had failed; however, the parts were on national back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the VIN was not included in a recall associated with the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.

Have taken in my car 2 times for a clutch repair and it’s still not fixed. It shudders when taking off from a stop. I bought this car in June of 2020. One year later in June of 2021 it needed a new clutch. Then in June of 2022 it went in again for a new clutch. I drove it off the service lot and it was worse then when I dropped it off. I will be returning to ford service center on Monday June 27 2022 to tell them it’s still not fixed. I will be going I. With info that I found on the internet regarding problems with the transmission on the make and model of cars. Thank you Carol Brunson.

The transmission on this vehicle has failed, due to the computer system, or a small chip part (so I have been told.) I have been told by MUTIPLE mechanics that it is the same Transmission issue that the 2011-2016 Models experienced. I was driving the vehicle when the transmission failed, almost causing me to wreck the vehicle on the interstate.
All lights came on and vehicle immediately slowed down, brakes became hard and it eventually just stalled out. Would not restart. Towed to repair shop . Mechanic found that the oil was full but no oil to engine. Found that the oil pump belt had malfunctioned and tore up leaving debris in the oil pan. Vehicle has approx 66,000 miles on it and manual says this piece if equipment should last until 150,000. Upon research, this is a common occurrence in the 2017, 2018 Ford focus.
Vehicle has become increasingly hard to drive in first and second gear. Has miss-fires and problems with dumping fuel threw code p144c and has already had injectors and spark plugs replaced roughly a year ago. Feels like vehicle is having the same issues. When started from cold vehicle has miss-fires and runs extremely rough.

My car has been giving me problems from the start. i had to get a new fuel pump and a new clutch at 75,000 miles because my fuel pump was bad and my clutch fractured (Which some 2017 ford focus' have been recalled for this issue, but supposedly mine doesn't have any recalls). I have always done routine maintenance on this car. Now at 91,000 miles my engine has blown up. I was driving and my oil light started to blink and within seconds my car had totally lost its power. This is very unsafe to happen while driving, especially uphill.
sputtered and stalled out on me multiple times on highway and side roads.
The contact's girlfriend owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while his girlfriend was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle would idle and stalled. The fuel gauge was faulty, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the stuck canister purge valve had deformed fuel tank. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V735000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The failure mileage was approximately 49,500.

2017 FORD FOCUS S, SHUDDERS/SHAKES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A FULL STOP. THE CAR ACTS AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. THE CAR IS PARKED AND I REFUSE TO MOVE IT UNTIL THIS ISSUE IS ADDRESSED. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE OR ISSUE EVERYONE WHO OWNS THIS VEHICLE A FULL REFUND OR A DIFFERENT MODEL! THIS IS NOT SAFE AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES TO ANYONE DRIVING IT, ESPECIALLY ON A HIGHWAY OR BELTWAY AT A GREAT AMOUNT OF SPEED AND THE CAR REFUSES TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT SHUDDERING OR SHAKING.

THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS. MY FORD FOCUS NOT ONLY HAS WHEEL ISSUES EVERY OTHER DAY AFTER REPLACING THE TIRES SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE STUTTERING PROBLEM I'VE REPORTED SEVERAL TIMES IS STILL A PROBLEM AND IS GETTING EVEN WORSE. NO ONE IS HELPING ME WITH THIS ISSUE. WHEN MY VEHICLE IS AT A STOP AND I PRESS THE GAS IS SHAKES AND STUTTERS. I WAS TOLD BY SEVERAL SHOPS THAT FORD HAS HAD LAWSUITS AND SEVERAL RECALLS OVER PEOPLE WHO HAD THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AND THEY REFUSED TO WORK ON THE CAR BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THEY SAID THERE IS NO PART IS EXISTENCE THAT WILL FIX IT BECAUSE THEY CREATED IT THAT WAY. THIS IS BULL AND NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT.

I PURCHASED MY FORD FOCUS MAY 2017 AS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH ONLY 12 MILES ON IT. IN TWO YEARS, I BEGAN TO FEEL A SHUDDER WHENEVER I STARTED TO DRIVE FROM A STOP. THE SHUDDER WAS ON AND OFF FOR A MONTH AND INCREASINGLY GOT WORSE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO FORD, JULY 2019. THEY STATED THAT MY CLUTCH WENT BAD AND I NEEDED TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SINCE THIS IS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE I WAS SURPRISED IT WAS ALREADY HAVING SUCH A MAJOR ISSUE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STAFF NOTIFIED ME THAT THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON WITH FORD FOCUS'S. A YEAR IN A HALF LATER, I BEGAN TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES AND SYMPTOMS AGAIN. I CALLED FORD TO NOTIFY THEM IN DECEMBER 2020, HE STATED IT MAY BE THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THEY HAVE TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AND GOT MY VEHICLE REPAIRED FOR THE SAME CLUTCH ISSUE THAT WAS REPLACED ORIGINALLY. THIS WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS INFORMED THAT ONCE MY WARRANTY EXPIRED THEY WILL NO LONGER COVER THE COST FOR MY REPAIRS ON THE CLUTCH IF IT WENT BAD AGAIN. THIS WOULD RESULT IN ME PAYING $2,300 EACH TIME IT NEEDED A REPAIR. GIVEN THE TWO CLUTCH REPLACEMENTS WITHIN 3.5 YEARS OF HAVING THIS BRAND NEW CAR, I WAS UPSET SINCE THIS SEEMED TO BE AN ISSUE THAT SHOULDN'T BE OCCURRING. I LOOKED UP RECALLS ON 2017 FORD FOCUS'S AND FOUND THE RECALL NUMBER 18V845000 & 18V169000 (18S07). THESE TWO RECALLS SPECIFICALLY MENTION THE TYPE OF ISSUE I'VE HAD TWICE WITH THIS NEW VEHICLE WITHIN 1.5 YEARS OF EACH OTHER. ITS STATES THE SNOWBALL EFFECT OF DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE WITH THE CLUTCH FRACTURS. I CALLED 800 NUMBER TO FORD REGARDING THIS MATTER AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO ASSIST ME UNTIL THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS THREE TIMES. I AM APPALLED SINCE A NEW VEHICLE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM THREE TIMES FOR ASSISTANCE. THIS IS A SERIOUS LIFE-THREATENING MANUFACTURES DEFECT, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO KEEP PAYING, EVEN AFTER WARRANTY.
CAR SHUT OFF IN THE FREEWAY, SHUTTERS AND SHAKES WHEN TURNED ON AND RPM GOES UP TO 4,000 TO ACCELERATE. I CALLED MULTIPLE PLACES AND TALKED TO MULTIPLE FORD REPRESENTATIVES THAT WONT HELP ME AND OBVIOUSLY MY CAR IS A DANGER TO THE ROAD AND MYSELF. THEYRE MAKING ME PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A FORD PROBLEM.

I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE JANUARY 9TH 2021. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AS THE HEAD GASKET RECALL HAD BEEN DONE ALREADY. I COULDN'T HAVE THE CAR CHECKED OUT AS I WAS 3 HOURS EACH WAY FROM HOME AND HAD TO MEET THE DEALER AT 9 PM. I DROVE THE CAR AND ALL SEEMED GOOD. ON THE 3 HR DRIVE HOME I NOTICED OIL PRESSURE WAY GOING BACK AND FORTH AND THE CAR DIDN'T SEEM TO HAVE THE POWER IT DID 1 HR BEFORE, I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST IN MY HEAD. SO MONDAY I PUT THE CAR ON THE LIFT AT WORK AND SEEN THEIR WAS OIL COMING FROM THE HEADGASKET AREA AGAIN. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL PAPERWORK FROM WHEN IT WAS DONE AT A DEALER BUT IT ALSO IS KNOWN THAT THE EARLY RECALLS THAT WERE DONE DID NOT USE THE CORRECT GASKET EVEN FOR THE RECALL. I AM ASKING FOR THIS TO GET FIXED AS I DIDN'T PAY 30,000 FOR A CAR THAT I CANT DRIVE AND HAVE TO PAY 11,000 TO FIX THE MOTOR. THE CAR HAD 51522 MILES WHEN I BOUT IT. IT IS 200 MILES FOR THE DRIVE HOME. AND IT HAS 51833 ON IT RIGHT NOW AND I DRIVE IT DAILY.

I BOUGHT MY 2017 FORD FOCUS SE WITH 8 MILES ON IT WHEN IT GOT ABOUT 5,000 MILES ON IT MY TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SHUTTER. BROUGHT IT TO 3 DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS TO BE TOLD NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. ABOUT 20,000 MILES I NOTICE THE SHUTTER BECOMING WORST AND WORST TO BE TOLD ONCE AGAIN NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. NOW MY CAR IS AT 50,000 AND ANYTIME IT'S UNDER THE HALF WAY MARK WITH GAS THE SHUTTER BECOME MORE INTENSE. STILL FORD WANTS TO TELL ME THERE IS NO PROBLEMS
THE CAR IS HAVING TROUBLE SWITCHING GEARS. THE CAR ACTS AS IF IT DID NOT WANT TO ACCELERATE. THEN COMING TO A STOP THE CAR SEEMS TO WANT TO STILL GO AND STOPS VERY HARD WHEN IT WANTS TO. I'VE FILLED OUT A COMPLAINT BUT NEEDED TO UPDATE IT. NOT SURE HOW TO DO IT SO I JUST FILLED OUT ANOTHER. I WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE A BAD TRANSMISSION BECAUSE I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH STUTTERING FROM MY CAR FOR A WHILE. I JUST GOT A LETTER IN THE MAIL THAT IN 2019 THEY REALIZED THEY INSTALLED IMPROPER THINGS INTO THE CAR OR SOMETHING. THIS IS RIDICULOUS HONESTLY. I PUT SO MUCH MONEY INTO THIS CAR BRO AND NOW WHAT. I HAVE TO GET RID OF IT?
THE ENGINE STALLS AND SHUTS OFF EVERY TIME I TURN ON THE CAR EVERY TIME I PUT GAS NOW, EVEN IF IT WAS NOT EMPTY IT STARTS TO SHAKE AND THEN TURNS OFF AS IF IT DOESN'T RECOGNIZE IT WAS JUST FUELED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON AND I WAS TOLD AT PEP BOYS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE GAS VALVE. ALSO, THE GAS METER IS WRONG, I COULD BE AT 25 MILES TO EMPTY AND DRIVE FOR LESS THAN A MILE AND THE COUNTER GOES DOWN AT LEAST 3 MILES LESS, THERE WAS A TIME THE CAR SAID I HAD 8 MILES TO EMPTY AND IT LITERALLY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT AND IT WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON UNTIL GENEROUS PASSERBY'S HELPED ME PUSH THE CAR TO THE NEAREST GAS STATION ABOUT 5 BLOCKS AWAY

ON 11/02/2020 I STARTED MY CAR, WARMED IT UP AND THEN STARTED DRIVING. I NOTICED THAT THE CAR SHOOK AND PULLED WHEN SWITCHING GEARS FROM 1ST TO SECOND AND SEEMED TO WANT TO STALL. ALSO, WHEN BREAKING THE CAR WANTED TO KEEP ACCELERATING. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENS IN A MATTER OF A YEAR.

I WAS DRIVING ON I95 AROUND 330PM WHEN MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON, AND I NOTICED THAT MY VEHICLE STARTED TO LOOSE POWER. I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE TO THE EXIT WHEN ANOTHER PROMPT CAME UP AND STATED SERVICE ENGINE SOON. WHEN I GOT TO THE LIGHT I WAS ABLE TO STOP TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR, THE VEHICLE STARTED BUT IT WAS A RUFF START THE SAME PROMPTS CAME ON ALONG WITH A NEW ONE IT WAS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL NOT GETTING MUCH POWER THE CAR MOVED FOR ANOTHER FEW MILES AND THEN COMPLETELY STOPPED RUNNING. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD SAFELY, AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY MECHANIC SHOP. I WAS TOLD THE THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN IT IS 2017 VEHICLE WITH 94000 MILES AND I REGULARLY HAD IT SERVED AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT. I STILL OWE ON IT AND WILL NOW HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW ENGINE TO BE PUT IN THIS VEHICLE. I HAD READ WHERE THE SAME VEHICLE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM AND WANTED TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE WITH OTHERS. I HAD NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE BEFORE THIS ISSUE HAPPENED. THANK YOU

WHILE GOING FROM A STOP TO ACCELERATING, MY VEHICLE SHUTTERS AND WILL ATTEMPT TO STALL. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR ALMOST CAUSE MULTIPLE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS AND EVERY TIME I TAKE IT THE DEALERSHIP (5 TIMES) THEY TELL ME ITS THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY CLUTCH. THEY SAY THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO PERMANENT FIX FOR IT. I HAVE MYSELF AND 2 VERY YOUNG CHILDREN TO WORRY ABOUT WHILE DRIVING, NOT TO MENTION THE SAFETY OF OTHERS. ALSO WHILE DRIVING AT ANY STEADY SPEED, THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY REV UP SOMETIMES GOING FROM 2000 RPMS TO OVER 4000 RPMS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT STALLED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE STREET. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN NEUTRAL AND PUSHED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME CLOSELY. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY ARRANGED A TOW TO THE DEALER (UPTOWN FORD LINCOLN 2111 N MAYFAIR RD, MILWAUKEE, WI 53226 (414) 771-9000) BUT THEY REFUSED TO DO THE REPAIR THAT HAD TO DO WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V515000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD A MINOR CRASH SIX MONTHS EARLIER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CRASH WAS THE CONTACT'S FAULT AND THE REASON THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE MALFUNCTIONED. THE MANUFACTURER CALLED BACK TO DENY THE CONTACT'S CLAIM. THE MANUFACTURER RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO STATED SAME AS THE FIRST DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THE UPPER MANAGEMENT OF THE SECOND DEALER DENIED TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER FINALLY SENT AN EMAIL DENYING THE CONTACT'S CLAIM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.

WHEN ACCELERATING, TYPICALLY FROM A STOPPED POSITION BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS. THIS STARTED HAPPENING AT ABOUT 20K MILES AND I'M TOLD BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP "SOME SHUDDERING IS TO BE EXPECTED & CANNOT BE REPAIRED". I DISAGREE. THIS IS NOT TO BE EXPECTED AS NO OTHER VEHICLE I'VE OWNED DID THIS UNLESS THERE WAS A MECHANICAL PROBLEM.

USER HAD A QUARTER OF A TANK OF GAS BEFORE HEADING HOME. SHORTLY AFTER, USER STARTED THE CAR AND IT STALLED. USER DID NOT THINK MUCH OF IT. USER SHUT IT DOWN AND TURNED KEY TO THE "ON" POSITION AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. THE CAR TURNED OVER AND WORKED. SHORTLY AFTER, USER WAS DRIVING CAR DOWN THE ROAD TOWARDS HIS HOUSE AND THE ENGINE STALLED. SYSTEMS AND ELECTRONICS SCREEN WERE ON, BUT EVERYTHING ELSE GLITCHED AND NOTHING REALLY WORKED, THE CAR TORQUE STEERED THE USER INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE. USER HAD TO USE E-BRAKE TO PROPERLY SLOW DOWN AND PULL TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND TURN KEY ALL THE WAY OFF INTO THE "OFF" POSITION. USER WAITED 5 MINUTES TO ENSURE ALL SYSTEMS WERE SHUT DOWN, AND STARTED CAR BACK UP AGAIN TO SAFELY DRIVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. USER HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WILL IMMEDIATELY HAVE DEALERSHIP LOOK AT VEHICLE.

1) BATTERY WAS REPLACED. CORROSION SURROUNDING BATTERY & ALL PARTS OF BATTERY. TOOK THE CAR TO INSPECTION <2 MONTHS LATER AND CORROSION WAS JUST AS BAD. 2) HAVE TAKEN CARE IN EVERY 2-4 MONTHS SINCE PURCHASING NEW IN 2018. UPON ACCELERATION AND TURNING, CAR SHAKES AND STUTTERS. EACH TIME IT IS TAKEN IN, THERE IS NOTHING DONE BECAUSE "IT'S A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THERE'S NO FIX."
MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON A CITY STREET AROUND 7:30 AM ON MY WAY TO WORK AND WHEN I GOT HOME MY HUSBAND CHECK THE CODE WAS P144A FOR A EVAP PURGE VALVE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH A RECALL JUST NOT FOR MY VEHICLE.

WHILE COMING DOWN A HILL MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE BEGAN TO BIG DOWN AS IF TO STALL. MY ENGINE OIL LIGHT CAME ON, I PULLED INTO A LOCAL OIL SERVICE STATION TO HAVE THEM CHECK THE OIL, (PREVIOUS SERVICE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH PRIOR AND IT HAD ONLY BEEN APPROXIMATELY 1200 MILES SINCE LAST SERVICE). THEY SAID THAT THE OIL WAS FINE BUT I HAD THEM CHANGE THE OIL AGAIN JUST TO BE SURE. THE OIL LIGHT REFUSED TO GO OUT. I THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE CLOSEST FORD DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE VEHICLE BECAME UNSAFE AND COULD NOT BE DRIVE ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE STATION. AFTER A WEEK AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE WAS NO LONGER HOLDING OIL PRESSURE AND THAT VARIOUS COMPONENTS INSIDE THE ENGINE HAD NOW STARTED THROWING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMANT ME IT WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $7700 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE, AS THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE IS IN A STATE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TOWED FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AT 71457 MILES... THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS 11450 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. VEHICLE WAS REGULARLY SERVICED. I HAVE READ VARIOUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WHICH HAS LEAD TO THE VEHICLES BECOMING UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND ULTIMATELY UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN.

I WAS COMING OFF FREEWAY AND GETTING ONTO ANOTHER FREEWAY WHEN, AS I WAS SPEEDING UP TO MERGE, MY CAR BOGGED DOWN AS IF RUNNING OUT OF GAS. I LOOKED AT THE DASH AND SAW MY OIL LIGHT HAD COME ON. SO I PULLED OVER TO AN EXIT WITHIN 30 YDS. AND PULLED ONTO A STREET ABOUT ANOTHER 30 YDS. AWAY. I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND LET IT SIT A FEW MINUTES THEN CHECKED OIL. WHEN I DID, THE OIL SHOWED FULL. I THEN CALLED THE FORD DEALER I TAKE MY CAR TO FOR OIL CHANGES AND SPOKE WITH A SERVICE GUY AND TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED. HE WAS PUZZLED AND ASKED A FEW QUESTIONS AND THEN WE TRIED TO RESET THE OIL LIGHT. AFTER DOING THE RESET THE OIL LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I TRIED STARTING THE CAR AND IT STARTED FINE. NO ABNORMAL SOUNDS COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND IT IDLED FINE. I DECIDED TO TRY THE FREEWAY AGAIN TO SEE IF THE OIL LIGHT WAS A FLUKE. THE NEXT EXIT WAS ONLY A HALF MILE AWAY SO I COULD EASILY GET OFF FREEWAY IF NECESSARY. AGAIN, THE FREEWAY WAS ONLY ABOUT 30 YDS AWAY SO WHEN I STARTED TO MERGE ONTO THE FREEWAY THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THE CAR ACCELERATED SLOWLY AND THEN BOGGED DOWN AND THE DASH FLASHED THE ENGINE NEEDED ATTENTION OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. AGAIN I GOT OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT, WHICH WAS RIGHT THERE WHEN IT HAPPENED. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER NEAR WHERE I LIVE. SERVICE WAS CLOSED BUT SOME SALES PEOPLE WERE STILL THERE AND THEY TOLD US WHERE TO PUT THE CAR. THEY DIDN'T LOOK AT THE CAR UNTIL MONDAY AND EVEN THEN THEY DIDN'T REALLY OPEN THE CAR UP AND LOOK AT IT. THE TECHNICIAN SAID PROBABLY THE TIMING/OIL PUMP BELT BROKE OR SHREDDED AND CLOGGED UP THE OIL PUMP. TO OPEN UP THE ENGINE WOULD COST $800 TO FIND OUT THE ACTUAL PROBLEM AND IF THE TECH WAS RIGHT THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED COSTING $7400. ALL THIS BECAUSE OF A FAULTY BELT DESIGNED TO LAST 125,000-150,000 MILES. LUCKILY I WASN'T DRIVING 65MPH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY AND BREAKING DOWN AND GETTING SLAMMED. *TR

THE CONTACT CALLED PERRY FORD OF POWAY (12740 POWAY RD, POWAY, CA 92064, (858) 748-1400) AND SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE WHO ATTEMPTED TO ASSIST WITH THE WARNING LIGHT FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESET THE WARNING LIGHT AND ATTEMPTED TO RESUME NORMAL DRIVING HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SAME DEALER BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. ON OUR WAY BACK FROM FLORIDA I SMELT BURNING COOLANT I LOOKED AND IT WAS LOW SO I FILLED IT UP AS WE WERE DOWN THE STREET FROM OUR HOUSE THE SMELL GOT WORSE I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR SHOOK, THE TRANSMISSION WARNING THEN CAME ON AND I LOST STEERING CONTROL AND POWER I PULLED OVER SAFELY AND TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND WOULD NOT START. I POPPED THE HOOD AND THERE WAS COOLANT ALL OVER THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION. 2 HR LATER THE VEHICLE STILL WON'T EVEN TURN OVER.

I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN WHEN THE CAR DIDN'T WANT TO GO FORWARD, THE RPMS JUST IDLED AS THE ENGINE REVVED BUT I COULDN'T DRIVE FORWARD, THEN THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD, AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN NEUTRAL. AFTER IT JUMPED FORWARD IT BEGAN MAKING A TERRIBLE GRINDING NOISE AND LOST CONTROL, ALMOST DRIVING STRAIGHT INTO ANOTHER CAR. I THEN PROCEEDED TO PULL OVER AND TURNED OFF THE CAR, THEN IT MADE THESE LOUD CLICKING NOISES AND THE EMERGENCY TRANSMISSION LIGHT FLASHED RED AND SAID 'TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING, STOP AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE.' I LEFT THE CAR SIT FOR 2 AM HOUR, THEN WENT TO TURN IT ON AND IT WOULD NOT START. IT ONLY MADE THE TICKING NOISE AGAIN. AFTER TRYING TO START IT 3 TIMES, IT FINALLY TURNED ON, BUT CONTINUED TO GET STUCK AS THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN DRIVE. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT AS I LEFT MY HOUSE AND GOT ON THE FREEWAY, THE VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS ON THE INCLINED ON-RAMP EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN DRIVE. ONCOMING TRAFFIC SWERVED AROUND MY IMMOBILE CAR AS I PANICKED AND FLOORED THE GAS PETAL. IT FINALLY LUNGED FORWARD, SECONDS BEFORE A SEMI CAME BARRELING THROUGH THE LANE. I GOT IT TO THE DEALER AS IT FLASHED THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING LIGHT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AS WELL EACH TIME. THE CAR HAD ALREADY BEEN SERVICED 4 TIMES PRIOR TO THIS, FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND MULTIPLE RECALLS. EACH TIME I TOOK IT TO GET SERVICED, IT GOT WORSE. WHEN I FINALLY PICKED IT UP, I COULDN'T EVEN GET IT HOME BECAUSE IT BROKE DOWN HALF A MILE AWAY. THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE DEPARTMENT REFUSED TO DO ANY REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEARLY KILLED ME. THEY PRINTED ME THE PAPERS STATING THE CLUTCH, ACTUATORS A & B, THE T/O BEARING, AND ANOTHER PART NEED TO BE REPLACED AND IT WILL COST ME $1800. IN OTHER WORDS, I HAVE TO PAY THEM JUST SO I DON'T DIE IN FORDS FAULTY CAR

A FEW MONTHS AGO, MY CAR STARTED TO SHAKE (IN A JERKING, FORWARD AND BACK MOTION), AND STRUGGLE TO ACCELERATE. IT WOULD MAKE THIS NOISE, LIKE GEARS GRINDING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIXED UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH. FOR ABOUT A WEEK, IT WAS FINE. THEN IT STARTED TO DO THE SAME THING AGAIN. IT WILL JERK BACK AND FORTH WHEN I ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP (AT A STOPLIGHT FOR EXAMPLE). RECENTLY, I HAVE BEEN LOSING GAS VERY QUICKLY BECAUSE IT WILL GO ALL THE WAY PAST 4RPMS JUST TO GET FROM 0-20MPH. I'M NOT SURE IF THE WARRANTY IS STILL ON IT, BUT IT ONLY HAS 12,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE ONLY MADE ONE VERY BIG TRIP WITH IT, TO KANSAS AND BACK TO VIRGINIA. IT DOES THIS OFF AND ON EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE IT. I HAVE TO DRIVE ANYWHERE FROM 25 MINUTES TO AN HOUR FOR WORK, SO THIS IS REALLY NOT CONVENIENT TO HAVE. MULTIPLE TIMES I WAS WORRIED IT WOULD BREAK DOWN AS I STRUGGLED TO KEEP IT FROM OVERDOING ITSELF WHILE ACCELERATING. A FEW TIMES, I COULD SMELL SOMETHING LIKE EXHAUST IN THE VENTS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING OVER THE COURSE OF 6 MONTHS AND HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE, EVEN AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND HAVING THEM TELL ME IT WAS "FIXED."

OUR CAR WAS LOOKED AT JULY 2019 AND THE RECALL WAS NOT FIXED BUT THEY KNEW ABOUT IT FROM YOUR RECORDS. AND WE HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE ON ACCELERATING SPITTING AND SPUTTERING AND TODAY ME AND MY FAMILY WERE OUT SHOPPING AND WE WERE DRIVING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AND THE CAR JUST WOULD NOT GO THE GAS WAS NOT WORKING WE COULDNT MOVE AND WE TURNED IT OFF AND STARTING DRIVING AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND IT WASNT ON BEFORE THIS. I AM VERY MAD THAT THIS RECALL WAS OVER LOOKED BECAUSE MY FAMILYS LIFE COULDNT HAD BEEN TAKEN IF THIS HAPPENED ON A FREEWAY OR INTERSTATE. SO WE HAD TO PAY FOR A TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP JOHNSON CITY FORD, TN 37602 AND THEY WERE CLOSED TODAY BUT TOMORROW I AM GOING TO CONFRONT THEM ABOUT THIS AND IM REACHING OUT TO U GUYS TO INSURE THIS WILL GET FIXED OF NO CHARGE AND FIXED RIGHT! THERE WAS A RECALL 18S32 CAMPAIGN FUEL TANK DEFORMATION ISSUED LATE 2018. THE PCM SYSTEM WAS NOT ADEQUATELY DETECTING A STUCK OPEN CANISTER PURGE VALUE. ON AUGUST 24TH, 2019 I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO GET THE RECALL REPAIR DUE TO STALLING WITHOUT NOTICE AND DANGEROUS IN DRIVABILITY CONCERNS. ON AUGUST 25TH, THE FOLLOWING DAY, I HAD THE VERY SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS. I TOOK IT TO PEPBOYS TO DIAGNOSE, AND THE SAME CODES WERE POPULATING FOR THE RECALL. PEPBOYS ADVISED TO TAKE IT BACK TO A DEALER. I THEN TOOK IT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP ON OCTOBER 22ND FOR A SECOND OPINION, AND THEY STATED THAT THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE WAS STICKING. ON OCTOBER 24TH, THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED BACK TO ME AND WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS SAME SYMPTOMS. ON NOV 5TH, 2019, I WAS ADVISED THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE WAS REPLACED AFTER THE PARTS WERE ON BO FOR 2-3 WEEKS. HOWEVER, CAR STARTED DRIVING THE VERY EXACT WAY FOLLOWED BY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT AND TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING WARNING. ADDITIONALLY, THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND A DIESEL HAD TO SWIFTLY HIT ON THEIR BREAKS TO PREVENT CRASHING INTO ME. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED BACK ON THE 8TH OF NOVEMBER, HOWEVER, DEALERSHIP STATED THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE CONCERN. ON NOVEMBER 13, THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP AND ON NOVEMBER 14TH I HAD TO TAKE IT BACK DUE TO THE SAME ISSUES. ON NOVEMBER 30, I WAS ADVISED THAT THEY NOTICE A CLUTCH SLIPPING, VEHICLE REV HIGH WHEN TRYING TO REVERSE OR ACCELERATE. HOWEVER, VEHICLE OPERATING AS DESIGN. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. AFTER 6 ATTEMPTS IN TRYING TO RECTIFY THIS ISSUE, IT IS NOT. MY SAFETY IS A CONCERN HERE AS THE VEHICLE IS NOT OPERATING AS DESIGN AND CURRENTLY REMAINS AS IS.

SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THIS CAR. I NOTICED ORIGINALLY LAST OF POWER DURING ACCELERATION AND LATER IT WOULD DO A COMBINATION OF LAST OF POWER AT TIMES AND LUNGING WHEN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT GEARS(AUTOMATICALLY). EVENTUALLY, FRONTIER FORD(DEALERSHIP) REPLACED THE CLUTCH N A FEW OTHER MINOR ITEMS RELATED TO THE CLUTCH. THE PROBLEMS THE SAME ISSUES CONTINUE TO OCCUR. I FINALLY FILED A COMPLAIN WITH THE BBB, IT APPEARS THE DEALERSHIP SIMPLY NEVER RETURNED THEIR CALLS OR EMAILS AND THAT CASE WAS CLOSED. NEXT I CONTACTED THE SJ BUREAU OF AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR. THEIR DETERMINATION WAS THAT FORD FIESTAS AND FOCUS MODELS WERE NOTORIOUS FOR SERIOUS TRASMITION PROBLEMS. IT IMPLIED THAT IT WAS A FEATURE NOT A BUG BECAUSE EVENTHOUGH THE SJ BAR KNEW OF THESE SERIOUS ISSUES THEY TOOK NO ACTION. I STARTED NOT DRIVING THE CAR AS MUCH LOOKING INTO HOW I COULD GET THE MANUFACTURER TO BUY BACK THIS UNRELIABLE DANGEROUS CAR. I AM EN EXPERIENCED DRIVER SO I AVOIDED ACCIDENTS WHEN THE CAR WOULD MALFUNCTION, HOWEVER THE NIGH OF 11/06/19 AT ABOUT MIDNIGHT MY DAUGHTER TOOK THE CAR WITHOUT PERMITION AND WHEN THE CAR LUNGED FOWARD (AS IT WOULD DO WHILE SHIFTING GEARS AUTOMATICALLY) DURING A STREET TURN, SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND CRASHED INTO 2 PARKED CARS. THE AIRBAGS DIDNT DEPLOY AND THE SEATBEALT DIDNT LOCK RESULTING IN HER GETTING A CONCUSION AND A PRETTY BLOODY MOUTH AS HER HEAD HIT THE STEERING WHEEL(THESE 2 DEFECTS WERE UNKNOWN TO ME PREVIOUSLY). HAVING TO DO MONTHLY PAYMENTS ON THIS UNSAFE, UNRELIABLE CAR HAD LOTS OF NEGATIVE RIPPLE EFFECTS IN MY FAMILY'S LIFE CULMINATING IN MY DAUGHTER BEING INJURED BY WELL KNOWN DEFECTS BY FORD. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE IS EVEN CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS FOR FIESTA AND FOCUS CARS BUT I TRUELY DONT KNOW HOW ANY OF THAT WORKS. MY HOPE HERE IS THAT AT A MINIMUM THESE COMPLAINS CAN HELP GET THESE DANGEROUS CARS OFF THE ROAD.
WHILE I'M DRIVING ON FREEWAY OR REGULAR HIGHWAY THE CAR JUST DIES OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON ALMOST GOT INTO A BAD WRECK BECAUSE OF IT HAD TO COAST IT OFF THE ROAD OUT OF WAY FROM TRAFFIC SO I WOULDN'T GET HIT IT'S DONE THIS MORE THEN ONCE TOOK IT IN AND THEY RESET THE COMPUTER IT WAS OK FOR 2 DAYS THEN DID THE EXACT SAME THING JUST DIED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE WHOLE CAR TURNED OFF SO HAD TO PUT IN PARK AND THEN START TOOK A FEW TIMES TO START THEN FINALLY STARTED AND LEFT BUT THIS KEEPS HAPPENING DEFINITELY NOT GOOD FOR VEHICLE THAT ONLY HAS 44 THOUSAND MILES ON IT .

WHEN I'M DRIVING MY CAR IT DOESN'T MATTER THE SPEED I USED TO THINK IT ONLY HAPPENED IF I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY BUT IT HAPPENED ON MY WAY HOME A DAY AND I WAS GOING 35-40 MPH. BASICALLY WHILE DRIVING MY CAR STARTS TO SLOW DOWN AND NO MATTER HOW MUCH I PRESS THE GAS IT DOESN'T CHANGE GEARS/ SPEED UP. WHEN THIS TENDS TO HAPPEN THE ENGINE FAULT LIGHT WILL COME ON. BY THE TIME I GET TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON THEY SAY NOTHING READS ON THE DIAGNOSTIC SO BASICALLY WHATEVER REASON THE LIGHT COMES ON FOR DOESN'T STAY IN THE SYSTEM SO THAT THEY CAN SEE THE ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED FIVE TIMES WITHIN THE PAST TWO MONTHS.

I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SHUDDERING AT AN INCREASING RATE. THE CAR IS SLOW TO PICK UP SPEED AND OFTEN JERKS AS IT TRIES TO INCREASE SPEED BY SMALL INCREMENTS, SUCH AS 5MPH. WHEN I DO TRY TO ACCELERATE THE CAR EXPENDS A TON OF EFFORT, THE RPM SHOOTS UP, THE CAR SHUDDERS AND SHAKES. AS THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE INCREASING, MY CONCERN FOR MY SAFETY IS ALSO INCREASING. IT IS DIFFICULT TO MERGE INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC AS MY CARS ABILITY TO ACCELERATE IS ALWAYS DIFFICULT TO ESTIMATE. THIS IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE OF A SAFETY RISK. I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED THAT THESE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS CREATE A SAFETY RISK FOR WHEN I AM DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEMS ARE STILL PRESENT ON CITY ROADS BECAUSE MY CAR IS UNABLE TO KEEP UP WITH THE EVERCHANGING SPEED LIMITS IN MY TOWN. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE I BOUGHT MY FORD, BUT HAS DEFINITELY INCREASED IN ITS SEVERITY.
2017 FORD FOCUS TITANIUM. DALLAS, TX. ENGINE MISSES WHEN ACCELERATING. MY VEHICLE ENGINE COMPLETELY STOPPED ON ITS OWN AND THE VEHICLE INDICATORS SHOWED THAT THE ENGINE OVERHEATED. THIS WAS AFTER LESS THAN 10 MINUTES ON THE FREEWAY GOING 55 MPH. THIS VEHICLE HAS A SOFTWARE RELATED RECALL FOR IT AS WELL CURRENTLY. I TOWED THE VEHICLE TO AUTONATION FORD OF MIAMI TO BE SERVICED FOR THE RECALL AND FOR THE ENGINE TROUBLE(IT ONLY HAS 26,000 MILES) AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE TO EVEN OFFER A DIAGNOSIS FOR AT LEAST 2-3 DAYS. THEY DID NOT OFFER A LOANER VEHICLE OR ANY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION IN THE INTERIM. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR, ESPECIALLY FOR A VEHICLE UNDER RECALL. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, 4 DAYS AFTER HAVING THE 2ND CLUTCH REPLACEMENT AT 30,000 MILES, IT WAS ON A STREET NOT HIGHWAY, THE CARS ELECTRONIC DASH DISPLAYED "TRANSMISSION FAULT FIX NOW". THE CAR THEN SLOWED DOWN A BIT LOSING POWER, THEN SEVERAL OTHER SIGNALS APPEARED ON SCREEN, BRAKES AND A FEW OTHERS, THEN THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND POWER WENT OUT. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART AFTER A FEW MINUTES, SO AAA CALLED TO TOW IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THIS HAPPENED SUNDAY JULY 28, 2019. MONDAY AFTERNOON, AFTER THEY HAD TIME TO LOOK AT VEHICLE, I RECEIVED A CALL TELLING ME THAT THE "ALTERNATOR " WAS FAULTY AND THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME WHEN THEY HAD THE REPLACEMENT WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE THE NEXT DAY. THE ISSUE WITH THIS IS MY WIFE HAD BEEN 110 MILES AWAY AND HAD DROVE HOME SATURDAY JULY 27. IF THAT HAD LET GO WHILE SHE WAS TRAVELING THE 70 MPH SPEED LIMIT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT. I HAVE A 2017 FOCUS THAT THE TRANSMISSION THATS SLUGGISH/SLIPPING. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND AT 13,000 I ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION FOR A CLICKING/STALLING/SLIPPING. WHEN I BOUGHT IT IN AND EXPLAINED THE REASON ITS LIKE THEY ALREADY KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. HAD TO WAIT ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE THE PART GOT CHANGED. NOW AT 15,000 THE TRANSMISSION ACTING UP AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION REVS HIGH BEFORE SWITCHING GEARS. IT SLUGGISH WHEN MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. EVEN WHEN NEEDING THAT LITTLE BIT EXTRA POWER GOING UP A HILL, IT BOGS DOWN AND I HAVE TO MOVE OVER IN LANES MAKE SURE NO ONE BEHIND ME GETS STUCK. I'M ALREADY THINKING ABOUT TAKING MY CAR BACK IN AGAIN BEFORE MY 30,000 MILE WARRANTY HITS TO TRY AND GET IT REPLACED ONCE AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION IS UNRELIABLE AND NOT EFFECTIVE. I WISH I DIDNT BUY THIS CAR AND WENT WITH A NISSAN OR TOYOTA. BUT IM STUCK WITH THIS UNRELIABLE CAR.

FORD FOCUS RECALL #18S35, NHTSA RECALL #18V-735 IT HAS BEEN OVER SIX ( 6 ) MONTHS AND STILL NO REMEDY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY MY ELDERLY MOTHER SHOULD WAIT THIS LONG.
THERE IS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION FOR THE ENGINE AGAIN. I THE TRANSMISSION FOR MY 2013 FORD FOCUS HAD THIS SAME RECALL AND I WENT IN TO GET IT FIXED BY FORD CAMPBELL IN NILES, MICHIGAN. THEY TOOK APART THE TRANSMISSION AND EXPECTED ME TO PAY $2000 TO FIX IT WHEN THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION, TO BEGIN WITH. I HATE THIS MODEL AND I AM SICK OF CONSTANTLY HAVING RECALLS ON THIS MODEL. I THINK ANYONE WITH THIS MODEL SHOULD HAVE THEIR CAR REPLACED WITH A BETTER MODEL THAT WON'T HAVE A RECALL ON IT AND SHOULDN'T HAVE THE LOAN ROLLED OVER.

CAR WILL NOT START. WILL RESPOND TO A JUMP BUT WILL NOT START AFTER RUNNING FOR AWHILE AGAIN. THEN IT STARTS WITH A BIT OF HESITATION FOR AWHILE AND THEN BACK TO NEEDING A JUMP. WHEN AT A STOP AND ACCELERATING, THERE IS A HUGE PAUSE BEFORE THE RPMS KICK IN THEN IT GOES ALL THE WAY TO MAX BEFORE CALMING DOWN TO WHERE IT SHOULD BE. POWER JUST DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT. ALSO THE SYNC 3 HAS HORRIBLE RESPONSE AND DELAY MOST DAYS. IS IT RELATED TO THE POWER /ELECTRICAL ISSUE? NEW OWNER PURCHASED 2/19.

WHEN POWERTRAIN IS WARM AND VEHICLE IS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING SOUND, VEHICLE SHUDDERING AND VIBRATION, AND RESULTING ENGINE HESITATION AS THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FROM 1ST TO 2ND AND 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. OCCASIONALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (55-65 MPH) THERE IS A NOTICEABLE VIBRATION AND SHUDDERING AS THE VEHICLE MOVES INTO AND OUT OF OVERDRIVE GEARS. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD IT TO ME TWICE WITH CONCERN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THE SERVICE TECH SAYS THEY ARE WAITING FOR FORD TO RECALL THE FAULTY COMPONENTS, AND THAT THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT.

UNSAFE CONDITION: WHILE DRIVING AND ACCELERATING UPON SHIFTING THE ENGINE WILL CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE RIGHT TO THE REDLINE THERE IS NO CONTROL OF THE THROTTLE AT THIS POINT ALSO TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I CAN STEP IN ON THE CLUTH AND RELEASE THE THROTTLE AND THE ENGINE WILL ACCELERATE OR MAINTAIN ITS RPM SPEED YOU CAN SHIRT TO NEUTRL AND COAST TO THE CURB AND IT WILL MAINTIN THE ENGINE SPEED WHEREVER IT DECIDES ON AGAIN THERE IS NO CONTROL OF THE THROTTLE I HAVE BEEN TO THE FORD DEALER TWICE NOW 1ST TIME THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE SECOND TIME AGAIN THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THEY HANDED ME A SHEET STATING IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE ENGINE RPM TO MAINTAIN FOR A FEW SECONDS DURING SHIFT TO EASE THE SHIFTING AND MATCHING OF TRANSMISSION SPEED THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION, WHEN YOU RELEASE THE THROTTE IT SHOULD CLOSE IMMEDIATLY AND RPM SHOULD RETURN TO BASE IDLE. CLUTCH PEDAL LOSES PRESSURE/SPRING AND GOES TO FLOOR LEAVING VEHICLE IN GEAR AND VEHICLE STALLS WHEN DRIVING - DID THIS ON A HIGHWAY TWICE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT GEARS. VERY DANGEROUS AS IT ALMOST CAUSED A BAD ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY AT ALMOST 70MPH. VEHICLE LUCKY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD COSTING IN AFTER STALLING WHEN CLUTCH WOULD NOT RETURN TO ITS NORMAL STATE. DEALERSHIP NOT ABLE TO REPRODUCE ISSUE BUT ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT AND I FEAR IT COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS IT CAUSES THE CAR TO STALL WHEN THE CLUTCH GOES TO THE FLOOR AFTER LOSING PRESSURE ALL OF A SUDDEN WHEN VEHICLE IS STILL IN GEAR - IT WILL STALL OUT. SEEMS TO BE A POPULAR ISSUE AMONG MANY OTHER 2016-2017 FORD FOCUS RS VEHICLES. OTHERS REPORTED ISSUE WAS FINALLY RESOLVED BY REPLACING MASTER AND SLAVE CLUTCH CYLINDERS. SIMPLY BLEEDING LINES AND/OR REPLACING CLUTCH AND/OR FLYWHEEL DOES NOT RESOLVE ISSUE. FORD NEEDS TO RESEARCH AND ISSUE A RECALL ASAP AS THIS IS LIFE THREATENING BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT WHEN THIS OCCURS.

AS I AM DRIVING AND THE CAR WANTS TO SHIFT GEARS THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS A BIT. THERE IS A LAG FOR THE TURBO TO KICK IN. WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT THE ENGINE TURNS OFF WHICH IS NORMAL, BUT WHEN YOU LET GO OF THE BRAKE FOR THE ENGINE TO START BACK UP, THE CAR JUMPS AS IT I JUST PUSHED THE GAS PEDDLE. THIS RECENTLY HAS STARTED TO HAPPEN. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF A DEALERSHIP WHERE MY CAR IS SERVICED BUT THEY CAN'T FIND THE ISSUE AS TO WHY.
