The contact owns a 2005 Ford Freestyle. The contact stated that while at a stop, the vehicle lunged forward. While starting the vehicle, the vehicle revved high. While driving at high speeds, the vehicle decelerated. The contact stated that several times, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who cleaned and replaced the throttle body. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Says transmission data error check engine and trac control all display and only allow me to drive 20-35 MPH some time I can turn the car off and back on and the codes will shut off but they come back on in the middle of the highway what usually takes me 30 minutes takes me an hour and a half to get to some times 2 hours I can't run my AC cuz that over does my alternator and heats my car I've only had it a year and it's been giving me problems 5 months after getting it I have kids and it gets rough going slow in the heat and hoping if I press to much on the gas please help I am broke and have nothing but this car left and I've spent $2000 for people to tell me nothing is wrong with it

I WAS SOLD A VEHICLE WITHOUT BEING TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL. INSTEAD HE TOLD ME IT WAS JUST SOME RATTLING THAT WAS COMING FROM SOMETHING LOOSE AND NOT IMPORTANT. ITS RATTLING LIKE CRAZY UNDER MY CAR. I LOOKED UP RECALLS FOR IT AND THERE IS AN IMPORTANT RECALL THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED ON IT. PLEASE. IT CAN HARM MY NEWBORN CHILD AND MELT WIRES AND IS GONNA COST SO MUCH MONEY THAT I DON'T HAVE TO FIX IT. THIS IS MY ONLY CAR. PLEASE. ITS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE AND THERE IS A RECALL FOR IT ON EXACTLY WHAT ITS BEEN DOING. ALL ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON AT VARIOUS TIMES WITH NO WORKING GAUGES, BUT CAR DRIVES. WITHING PAST YEAR, HAD INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPLACED 2 TIMES, ALTERNATOR REPLACED TWICE, INJECTOR COILS & SPARK PLUGS, CLEANED/REPLACED, BATTERY REPLACED, THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY & GASKET, . HAD DIAGNOSED AT 2 FORD DEALERS IN DIFFERENT STATES AND NEITHER CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT IS CAUSING ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS TO STAY ON. BOTH DEALERS WERE ADAMENT IT WAS THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, WHICH CLEARLY IT IS NOT SINCE THE ERROR LIGHTS ARE STILL ON. HAVE BEEN TOLD IT COULD BE ELECTRICAL OR RCM, BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO TEST FOR EITHER. DEALER WANTS ME TO FOOT THE (HOURLY / UNION) LABOR RATE WHILE THEY TRY TO FIGURE IT OUT. CURRENTLY CAR IS CURRENTLY WITH LOCAL MECHANIC WHO IS GOING OVER THE CAR TO FIGURE IT OUT. NOTHING HAS BEEN DETERMINED YET.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL PRESENT - WHEN RESEARCHING THE ISSUE YOU FIND MANY CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY BUT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. MY CHILDREN HAVE BEEN PUT IN SERIOUS DANGER DUE TO THE SUDDEN ENGINE SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS INCLUDING INTERSTATE DRIVING. THE ENGINE FAILSAFE HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN, WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE, WHILE ACCELERATING, THERE IS NO WARNING OR SPECIFIC PATTERN.

I WAS UNAWARE OF THIS RECALL AND MY CAR DOES THIS QUITE FREQUENTLY AND I AM AFRAID THE TENS YEARS IS UP FOR THIS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. WHEN PULL UP TO A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT, SOMETIMES THE ENGINE WILL REV REALLY HIGH AND LURCH FORWARD CAUSING ME TO STOMP ON BRAKE PEDAL REALLY HARD.

IT HAPPEN IN A PARKIONG LOT AT CBS PHARMACY. 1588 TRANCAS STREET, NAPA, CA 94558 ON MARCH 14 2016 AT 5:30 PM.THERE SHOULD BE A POLICE REPORT. I HAD TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL, TO CHECK MY BACK, BECAUSE I HAD JUST SURGERY 3 WEEKS BEFORE, FEBR. 22 2016. I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL, AND I DO MY SERVICE AT FORD LINCOLN DEALER IN NAPA CA, SOSCOL AVN.I THINK THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ACCELERATOR OR ???MY RIGHT FRONT END IS DAMAGED.FILED CLAIM WITH THE INSURANCE. WITH RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT EVEN IF YOU DID PAY FOR A NEW THROTTLE BODY OR CLEANING, IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN BECAUSE THE THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTIONS ON ITSELF, IN ADDITION THROTTLE BODY WORKS HAND IN HAND WITH THE TRANSMISSION, TYPE CVR WHICH IS NOT MADE ANYMORE DO TO ITS FAILURES. FORD FAILED TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE AND ITS ELECTRONIC ENGINE ETB ON A CAR WHICH FORD ONLY MANUDACTURED FOR THREE YEARS, I WONDER WHY..... HAD ALTERNATOR REPLACED BECAUSE ALL ELECTRICAL STARTING SHUTTING DOWN AND TURNING OFF WHILE DRIVING ALSO TRANSMISSON WAS TRYING TO GO IN REVERSE WHILE DRIVING REVERSE LIGHTS WOULD COME ON VERY DANGEROUS. REPLACED BODY COMPUTER STILL DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM TO AFRAID TO DRIVE IT . IN 2011 THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED ON MY 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. FORD RECOMMENDED CLEANING THE THROTTLE BODY AND I HAD THIS DONE AT A FORD DEALER. FORD LATER EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THIS PART AND REIMBURSED ME. FOLLOWING THIS, I FOUND THAT THE CAR OCCASIONALLY LUNGED AND THE RPMS WOULD RACE. ON NOVEMBER 3, 2013 THE VEHICLE WENT INTO FAIL SAFE MODE WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH. I WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND THE ENTIRE ENGINE STOPPED ACCELERATING. I WAS TOLD IT WAS STILL COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. ON TUESDAY THE CAR AGAIN WENT INTO FAIL SAFE MODE AND SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. ON INSPECTION, THE DEALER FOUND THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS AT FAULT. THE PART WAS FAULTY, AND COULD NOT BE CLEANED TO FIX. IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED, BUT FORD WOULD NOT COVER THE COST (OVER $900) EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS PART. WHEN CALLING, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD ONLY COVER A ONE TIME CLEANING. THE CLEANING DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, AND THIS IS A MASSIVE SAFETY ISSUE. HAD A PREVIOUS RECALL DONE TO CLEAN THROTTLE BODY FOR COLD START STALL IT RAN FIN FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS WHEN ONE SUNDAY WE WERE ON THE INTERSTATE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME WHEN SUDDENLY IT WAS LIKE SOME ONE SHUT THE ENGINE OFF, WE WERE IN VERY HEAVY TRAFFIC WITH TRAFFIC MOVING FAST MY WIFE BECOME VERY SCARED SHE HAD NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES CARS WERE LOCKING THEIR BRAKES BLOWING HORNS AND PASSING AROUND US I SHIFTED THE CAR TO NEUTRAL FOR WE WERE STILL ROLLING ABOUT 50 BY THEN AND HAD HER TRY AND RESTART CAR WHICH IT DID AND WE RESUMED SPEED TO THE NEXT PULL OVER, I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND SOMEONE IN FORD QUALITY AND WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY CHECK OUT FEES AND IT WAS NOT A WARRANTY NOR GOODWILL ITEM. WE PURCHASED A USED 2005 FORD FREESTYLE ON APRIL 4, 2013. IT HAD 74,590 MILES ON IT. ON OCTOBER 1, 2013 THE CTV TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO FAIL. CHECK ENGINE AND CHECK TRANSMISSION WARNINGS CAME ON, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 10MPH, IT LURCHED AND CRUNCHED AT 3500-4000RPMS. WE MADE IT LESS THAN ONE BLOCK BEFORE IT JUST STOPPED IN THE ROAD. TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND BACK ONE, I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK TO TEN MPH AND LIMP IT BACK HOME. LATER THAT DAY AFTER DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY FOR TEN MINUTES, THE CAR FIRED UP NO PROBLEM AND WAS DRIVABLE UNTIL THE OCTOBER 3, 2013 WHERE THIS ACTION REPEATED BUT IT DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT A BLOCK BEFORE STOPPING. AGAIN, BY TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON I WAS ABLE TO LIMP IT HOME. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED ONE MORE TIME AND TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC. AFTER AN AFTERNOON OF FULL DIAGNOSES, WE WERE TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW REFURBED (SO NOT EVEN NEW) TRANSMISSION FOR $6400.00! WE WERE ABLE TO LIMP IT HOME FROM THE MECHANICS WHILE WE CONSIDER OUR OPTIONS. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO BE SERVICED FOR MAINTENANCE (POWER STEERING SERVICE AND TRANSMISSION SERVICE) TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN THOMASVILLE, GA. AFTER A FEW DAYS MY 2005 FORD FREESTYLE STARTED TO DISPLAY TRANSMISSION DATA ERROR, CHECK TRACK CONTROL, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. I CALLED THE COMPANY AND WAS ADVISED TO BRING IT IN AND I DID. THE ALERTS WERE NOT ON AT THE TIME BUT THE SERVICE MAN JERRY AND JOSH TOLD ME THEY WOULD CHECK MY VEHICLE AND LET ME KNOW WHAT - IF ANYTHING WAS WRONG. FOR SEVERAL YEARS, MY CAR HAD AN UNEXPECTED LURCHING/LUNGING PROBLEM WHENEVER I WAS PULLING IN & OUT OF PARKING SPACES. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS, SINCE I HAD TO IMMEDIATELY SLAM ON MY BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. I NOTICED ON SEVERAL FORUMS THAT THE SUGGESTED FIX WAS TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY CLEANED, SO ON 9/17/12, I HAD MY REGULAR MECHANIC PERFORM THIS REPAIR. IN DEC 2012, I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FROM FORD STATING THAT THEY WOULD REPAIR THE THROTTLE BODY OR REIMBURSE ME IF I HAD ALREADY HAD IT DONE. THIS LETTER WAS APPARENTLY A RESULT OF COMPLAINTS LIKE THIS WITH NHTSA AND A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT FILED OVER 2 YEARS AGO. NO SOONER HAD I APPLIED FOR THE REFUND WHEN THE SECOND ISSUE (THAT THE FORUMS ALL DESCRIBE) STARTING OCCURRING - I.E. A LOUD WHINE WHENEVER I HAVE THE CAR IN PARK OR NEUTRAL. THE SOUND GOES AWAY ONCE IN DRIVE, BUT I'VE HAD 3 GARAGES TELL ME THIS IS A SIGN THAT THE CVT TRANSMISSION IS FAILING. THE REPAIR COSTS ANYWHERE FROM $4,000 TO $7,000. NUMEROUS DOCUMENTATION EXISTS THAT THESE CVT TRANSMISSIONS ARE FAILING AROUND 100,000 MILES AND THAT THE MANUFACTURER OF THE PART NO LONGER MAKES IT, SO ONLY REBUILT TRANSMISSIONS CAN BE USED. APPARENTLY FORD HAS THE MARKET CORNERED ON THOSE AND THERE IS A HUGE BACK-ORDER PROBLEM TO EVEN GET THE WORK NONE. ALL THIS INDICATES A PROBLEM ON FORD'S PART, BUT A LACK OF RESPONSE UNTIL ANOTHER CLASS ACTION IS THROWN AT THEM WHICH IS ALREADY IN THE WORKS. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I HAVE NOT BEEN DRIVING MY CAR, SINCE IT SEEMS INEVITABLE THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS ABOUT TO DIE. THE VEHICLE 'S ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF. AFTER PULLING OFF THE ROAD I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO START THE VEHICLE, TO NO AVAIL. I WAITED APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES BEFORE TRYING AGAIN. THE ENGINE STARTED, BUT WOULD NOT GO IN GEAR. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS OF TRYING TO PUT IT IN GEAR, IT SUDDENLY WORKED! KNOWING I HAD A 250 MILE TRIP BACK HOME, I WAS VERY LEERY ABOUT TAKING A CHANCE WITH IT. FORTUNATELY, I MADE IT. I CONTACTED MY MECHANIC AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP THE NEXT DAY. THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE WAS USED AND IT "THREW" SEVERAL DIFFERENT CODES, RENDERING IT UNDIAGNOSABLE? THE MECHANIC CALLED FORD MOTOR CORP. AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD GET BACK WITH HIM. AFTER 2 WEEKS OF WAITING, I CALLED FORD MYSELF AND WAS TREATED EXTREMELY RUDE AND ALSO WAS TOLD MY MECHANIC WAS NOT QUALIFIED TO DIAGNOSE THIS PROBLEM! TWO MONTHS LATER, I GET A LETTER SAYING THE 'THROTTLE BODY" NEEDED TO BE "CLEANED OUT"...AT THEIR EXPENSE. THIS PROCEDURE WAS DONE AND I AM CONTINUOUSLY HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT GETS COLD (AROUND 32 DEGREES). THE VEHICLE WILL RUN AFTER WARMING THE ENGINE (SHUTTING IT DOWN/RESTARTING REPEATEDLY) BEFORE IT DECIDES TO FINALLY RUN "NORMAL". I WAS TOLD THIS RESETS THE CODE??? I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER FORD, THEY DO NOT BACK THEIR PRODUCT OR THEIR NAME! FORD HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THESE PROBLEMS WITH THIS CVT TRANSMISSION AND THEY NEED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND WE, THE CONSUMER, NEED HELP WITH THIS ON GOING ISSUE. BUT MOST RECENTLY IT HAPPENED AT MY DAUGHTERS SCHOOL PARKING LOT! I ALMOST HIT A CHILD AS SHE WAS CROSSING IN FRONT OF ME. PICKED UP THE CAR AT 6:45PM, ALL THE SERVICE TECS HAD LEFT FOR THE DAY; SO I PAID THE CASHIER THE $880, GOT IN THE CAR, TURNED ON THE IGNITION AND IMMEDIATELY THE ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT WERE STILL ON!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT! I COULD NOT EVEN LEAVE THE PARKING LOT...THE CAR "BUCKED" THE ENTIRE WAY OUT...I IMMEDIATELY TURNED AROUND AND LEFT MY CAR AT THE SERVICE LOT AGAIN AND DROPPED OF THE KEYS WITH A NOTE IN THE NIGHT KEY BOX. IN THE "PARK" POSITION THE CAR WILL REV WITHOUT COMPRESSING THE GAS PETAL, IT THEN LUNGES FORWARD AS YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO PUT THE CAR IN EITHER FORWARD OR REVERSE. IT SHUDDERS AND SHAKES, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY AND OPERATE IS THE "SAFE" MODE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT USUALLY COMES ON. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SEEN ON 3 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS RANGING FROM APRIL OF 2010 TO JULY 2010, EACH TIME THE SYMPTOMS BECAME WORSE, AT ONE POINT WHILE WAITING AT A RED LIGHT JUST BEFORE ENTERING THE ON-RAMP TO THE HIGHWAY, IT STUTTERED, REVVED HIGH AND LUNGED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, EMBARRASSED, I CONTINUED TO PROCEED FORWARD TO THE ON-RAMP WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY CAUSING THE 4 VEHICLES BEHIND ME TO BREAK HARD, AGAIN ALMOST CAUSING ANOTHER ACCIDENT, I DROVE IT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DID WORK ON THE VEHICLE AND THOUGHT TO HAVE SOLVED THE ISSUE. THE ISSUES STARTED TO OCCUR IN THE WINTER AND EARLY SPRING BEFORE THE USAGE OF THE A/C AND BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AS THE SUMMER MONTHS APPROACHED AND THE A/C FULL WAS IN USAGE. IT HAS BEEN A ALMOST 2 YEARS SINCE I HAVE NEEDED TO REPORT ANYTHING TO THE DEALER. THE FIX DID APPEAR TO LESSEN THE INTENSITY OF THE ISSUE, BUT DID NOT FIX IT ENTIRELY. IT HAS CONTINUED TO ACT UP, BUT IS BACK TO THE SAME INTENSITY AS THE SUMMER OF 2010. THE ENGINE SURGED 3 TIMES IN AN HOUR PERIOD LAST WEEK AND SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN TWICE. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER TO REPORT IT, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD BE CONSIDERED A NEW ISSUE SINCE IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 2 YEARS SINCE THEY HAD WORKED ON THE CAR FOR THE SAME ISSUE. PURCHASED THE CAR USED FROM FORD DEALERSHIP. I HAD BEEN FOLLOWING A FRIEND ON IH10 IN EAST TEXAS. FRIEND HAD PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD, I PULLED IN BEHIND HIM. I STAYED IN MY CAR WITH AC RUNNING FOR APPROX 10 MINUTES I PUT THE CAR IN GEAR AND STARTED TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. MY FRIEND SAW ME AND PULLED HIS VEHICLE OVER AND CAME BACK TO CHECK ON ME. I STARTED THE CAR BACK UP TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY THE ACCELERATOR WAS RACING EVEN WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE COMPUTER SAID IT WAS RUNNING IN SAFE MODE. ON JULY 2 2012 I TOOK MY SON TO AIRPORT. I PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT ,WE HAD SET IN THE CAR IN PARK WITH ENGINE AND AC RUNNING FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES.. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE THE ACCELERATOR GOT STUCK AND WITH MY BRAKES STILL APPLIED THE CAR LUNGED BACKWARD ACCELERATOR RUNNING FULL FORCE. THE GAS PEDAL WAS NOT ENGAGED BY ME AND I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF TO STOP THE ACCELERATION. WHEN I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND OPERATING IN SAFE MODE. THIS IS VERY UNNERVING AND I THINK COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT HAD ANY CARS BEEN AROUND ME. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD PURCHASED IT, HAVE AN APPT TO BRING IT BACK IN ON JULY 9 TO HAVE THEM FIX IT. I GOT ON THE WEBSITE OF FORD TODAY FOR ANY RECALLS THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN CALLED FOR MY CAR-DIDN'T SEE ANY FOR THIS TYPE PROBLEM. HOWEVER IN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM I FOUND A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO HAD REPORTED IT. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND QUICKLY BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED-AND I PRAY ITS NOT ME. ON 6/18/12 AS I WAS SLOWLY BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE I HEARD THE CAR REVVED UP A BIT AND THE CAR SUDDENLY LUNGED BACKWARDS FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS. OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE HIT THAT CAR BECAUSE THE LUNGE WAS PRETTY SIGNIFICANT. I BROUGHT IT TO FORD UPLAND, CA FOR THE THROTTLE BODY SERVICE. I GAVE THEM A COPY OF THE FORD TSB 09-24-12 BUT IN INSPECTING THE VEHICLE AFTERWARDS, I DO NOT SEE ANY EVIDENCE THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REMOVED AND THEN CLEANED THOROUGHLY. THE TSB SPECIFICALLY STATES TO REMOVE THE TB AND CLEAN IT PROPERLY. I AM GUESSING THAT THEY JUST OPENED UP THE OTHER END AND SPRAYED TB CLEANING COMPOUND AND THAT'S IT. NOW I AM WEARY THAT THE LUNGING MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN. I AM HOPING THROUGH THE NHTSA THIS VEHICLE CAN BE RECALLED AND FORD TO ASSUME ALL COSTS OF REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE TB AND ANY OTHER CONNECTED PROBLEMS TO LUNGING. CAR LUNGED FORWARD WHEN IN DRIVE THRU. FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND AIR CONDTIONING WAS RUNNING, CAR SEEMED TO HAVE A SURGE OF POWER CAUSING THE CAR TO LUNG FORWARD AND THEN CAR CUT OFF. THIS HAPPEN BEFORE IN AUGUST OF 2008 AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. DEALERSHIP REPLACED THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ON AC UNIT, BUT IT IS STILL HAPPENING. DEALERSHIP AND FORD CONSUMER CARE WAS CONTACTED,BUT THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE PROBLEM OR FIX IT. THE PROBLEM HAS ALSO AFFECTED THE TRANSMISSION. TRANSMISSION NEEDED ONLY A NEW IN PUT SHAFT, BUT FORD FAILED TO TELL CUSTOMERS THAT THEY CLOSED THEIR PLANT THAT MAKES THE PARTS FOR FREESTYLE. NO INPUT SHAFT COULD BE FOUND, SO HAD TO PAY FOR A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION FOR $6000.00. AGAIN FORD WAS CONTACTED, COULD ONLY SAY OH WELL. *TT

WE HAVE HAD A FEW ISSUES WITH THE CAR LUNGING BUT TODAY, JUNE 18,2012 WAS THE WORST INCIDENT. I WAS BACKING OUT IN A PARKING LOT AND THE CAR LUNGED SO BAD I HAD TROUBLES STOPPING IT. I THEN PUT IT IN DRIVE WHEN IT STOPPED TO TRY BACKING OUT AGAIN AND IT LUNGED IN FORWARD SO HARD I ALMOST COULD NOT GET IT STOPPED AND ABOUT HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE DISPLAY THEN SAID IT WENT INTO ENGINE OVERRIDE AND CUT THE POWER. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT OBVIOUSLY NEEDS TAKEN CARE OF AND I WAS FORTUNATE I DID NOT HIT ANYBODY. *JS

IDLING AT TRAFFIC LIGHT WITH BRAKES PRESSED, ENGINE STARTING REVVING UP TO OVER 2000 RPM. VEHICLE STARTED TO SURGE AND HAD TO PRESS BRAKE PEDAL HARDER TO STOP. VEHICLE MOVED APPROX 10 FT BEFORE IT STOPPED. ISSUE HAPPENED REPEATEDLY, BUT WAS NOT TAKEN IN TO SHOP FOR DIAGNOSIS AS IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN FOR QUITE A WHILE. HAS HAPPENED AROUND 30 TIMES SINCE FEBRUARY. TODAY, 6/18/2012 WHILE DRIVING THROUGH TOWN IN STOP-GO TRAFFIC, VEHICLE STARTED SURGING AGAIN. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS ERROR WORDING OF ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE. HAD TO SLOWLY MANEUVER INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURN CAR OFF. ONCE RESTARTED, LIGHTS WENT OFF AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. TOOK IT TO LOCAL MECHANIC AND THEY STATE THIS IS COMMON PROBLEM AND THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED (THEY JUST DID ON 05 FREESTYLE LAST THURSDAY WITH SAME SYMPTOMS). $758.00 TO REPLACE.
