This is my 2nd complaint on the non action to repair this recall. Ford's latest attempt to NOT repair the electrical defect is to buy my car. Their offer does meet the cost of buying a replacement car. Is Ford so inept that they cannot repair their own products? The offer to buy the car sends a red flag up. Is Ford's "solution" to buy my car an attempt to acquire cars to resell at a profit? If Ford cannot repair a defect that was diagnosed a long time ago, should they be allowed to continue to manufacture and sell cars in the United States? Has Ford been sanctioned in any way for this defect?

I could not find a link for complaints, so I am reporting a complaint here. I got a notice of recall in July 2023 (NHTSA Recall 23V-440) for this vehicle and almost a year later there is NO fix or updated communication on whether the Battery Energy Control Module for this vehicle can be modified to be made safe. I was told to stop charging the car due to a possible fire hazard, and this defeats the purpose that I purchased it for in the first place. I have been forced to buy (increasiingly expensive) gasoline for the past 10+ months whereas before the recall, I almost never purchased gas - just charged the car. I want to make a formal complaint against Ford Motor Corporation for their lack of action and communication on the status of this problem and when it is likely to be solved. Thank you.

The manufacturer is taking an unreasonably long time to remedy the situation affected by this recall. There has been virtually no communication, and their customer service isn't even aware of the issue unless reminded of it. I bought this car to be able to save on gas, and for the past year, I've pretty much been driving a regular hybrid that I have to pay extra to register because it's a partial EV, even though it's really not any more. They need to do right by us

I believe the manufacturer has failed to resolve the safety recall in a timely manner. The recall notice was sent on July 2023 and they still don’t have a fix or information on the recall. The The sole purpose of me purchasing this vehicle was to save money on gasoline and the manufacturer states to not charge my vehicle. I’ve called three times since the recall and the Ford representative over in corporate headquarters cannot give me an answer. Know that although the vehicle is under my spouse’s name [XXX] ), i’m the one driving it and making the payments. What are my options? A recall on the electrical system of my plug in hybrid does not allow me to use the electrical portion of my vehicle. The main reason I purchased this vehicle was to use all electric with the option of having a gas powered vehicle. Until this is remedied, the dealership said that I cannot charge my vehicle. This was the major selling point of this vehicle. I also cannot sell this vehicle because no dealership will purchase this vehicle with this major recall (that has been issued with no remedy since June of last year (10 months ago).

Unable to charge the plug in hybrid vehicle due to Ford recall 23S33 which was announced June 16,2023. Ford advised owner not to charge the vehicles until a remedy is available. No remedy for this issue is available 9 months later, leaving consumer to use gasoline only to power this plug in hybrid vehicle due to risk of excess voltage and current flow through the battery energy control module which can result in loss of motive power while driving, increasing risk of a crash, or a vehicle fire in the trunk area increasing risk of injury. Ford negligently installed 9 kWh hybrid batteries in the 2019-2020 model vs a 7.6 kWh battery in the 2013-2018 Fusion energi models which likely caused the issue, yet has left the consumer with a vehicle that has lost it’s worth in addition to having to pay for gasoline to power the vehicle. In addition, Ford installed 3 g modem’s leaving consumers unable to use the Ford pass app as well. Ford buy back offer does not reflect depreciation of the vehicle due to this recall, further leaving consumers to pay for the issue Ford created.

My car has been under recall (NHTSA recall 23V440) without a remedy since June of last year. According to Ford if I charge my car (it is a PHEV) I risk damaging major components and/or the car catching on fire. Ford is not making any effort to repair my car in a timely manner. They will not provide a firm date for when they plan to fix this recall. I have called Ford and asked them to make this right and they have refused, saying that my state's lemon laws do not obligate them in any way to help me. I cannot sell the car because the resale value of the car has plummeted since the recall was issued. I only owned the car for 3 months before the recall happened.

This is an unresolved safety-related recall that Ford has not scheduled for repair. The recall notice was published in mid-2023. Car does not perform as advertised as plug-in charging is advised as a potential fire and driving hazard. Repeated contacts with FORD have not resulted in addressing the failure of parts involved. The inability to charge the battery results in increased operating costs.

Recall issued 6/23 23S33- Over 7 months and Ford has NOT corrected this serious problem, nor is there anything in the updates to lead one to believe they have an interest in doing so. I have spent hours trying to coerce this company to do something, but to no avail!! How much longer will YOU allow them to get away with this!!! A serious fire, or collision may result!! Must someone DIE in order for you to take action!!

There is currently an active recall with no remedy being made available as of 6/16/2023. In this recall it is stated EXCESS VOLTAGE AND CURRENT FLOW THROUGH THE BECM CAN RESULT IN A LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER WHICH INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH, OR A VEHICLE FIRE IN THE TRUNK AREA. The safety of my family, which includes a two year old who is in a car seat in the back seat has been put at risk every day due to this issue not being remedied and continuing to have a potential for vehicle fire every time we start the car. Ford has advised to not charge the vehicle, however there is a system that allows for recharge while breaking. I have pulled the following information from the Ford website..."Regenerative Braking, When you apply the brakes in a conventional vehicle, kinetic energy is lost due to friction. During braking in a Ford hybrid, however, regenerative braking recovers more than 90%* of this energy, sending it back to the battery to be stored for later use." With this feature the battery is still being engaged and putting my daughter at risk. It would be extremely time consuming to run around the vehicle to her location then unbuckle and pull her out from the car seat after having to pull over once alerted to the car being on fire, potentially while on the highway. Its unlikely that we would reach her in time to save her. Another consideration for risk would be to other drivers on the road. Creating an emergency such as vehicle fire has high probability to cause others to become distracted while driving leading to more injuries. Vehicle has been taken to the Ford dealership on multiple occasions in 2023 for battery issues. We request to see the issue completely resolved or for Ford to buy the vehicle back.

Continually receiving "see manual" message while driving, will intermittently appear and disappear. At times, the plug-in battery will completely stop working while still charged (more frequent in colder weather). It always resets/removes the "see manual" warning upon next vehicle start. Engine shutters and pings when turning the car off and is rather intense and seems potentially damaging. When driving at low speeds and when changing speeds, engine will not shift correctly when accelerator is pressed, and then will suddenly engage and lurch forward. And when slowing down braking system is not consistent, often have to depress brake harder than normal. Hybrid battery will also stop working when "see manual" message is on. At times the check engine light will come on, code P0B24, checked by Ford Dealer (Norm Reeves, Cerritos, CA) on 12/21/23, 'Hybrid Battery A voltage unstable'. Known recall but they have no fix. Dealer says corporate office has to authorize any sort of loaner car or arrange for rental car, however website says "contact your local dealership directly" when I enter my info for the recall. Called Ford corporate on 1/15/24, their answer is "we have no fix for this" regarding both fixing the car and providing us with a working vehicle. They would not take down any of our contact information or give us any other outlet to contact.

Manufacturer Recall Number 23S33 NHTSA Recall Number 23V-440 Ford denied my buyback claim due to the vehicle being pre-owned, but with the open recall, I believe this vehicle to be a significant safety risk. My vehicle has limited functionality and reduced fuel economy in a model for which I specifically paid extra money. There is no fix in sight until the end of 2024 at the earliest, and there are other accounts of people's vehicles leaving them stranded or catching on fire! Ford does not have a fix for this vehicle, and a fix will not be available within a reasonable timeframe.

Recall. Told to not charge our Ford Fusion Rechargeable Hybrid for fear of a fire! No solution now for 6 months. Told to run gas engine only. Car was not designed to be used this way which is a safety hazard in itself. Filed for gas card 5 months ago, no gas card issued. My spouse is an active nurse and Christian community activist. She relies on this vehicle. If we do not have some action from Ford in another 30 days, we will be forced to file for an Arizona Lemon Law replacement.

Ford has still not provided a satisfactory fix for this recall. It has been 139 days since the recall was issued. Now Ford is putting a stop/hold on their initial recall fix and has instructed their dealers to return recall parts AND to put a stop sale on any vehicles in their inventory. This has resulted in a drastic depreciation of my vehicle. Not only does Ford not have a solution to the problem, but now they have left me with a car that is unsellable which is causing massive economic harm to me. Ford now says there is no interim fix (perhaps until LATE 2024) this is absurd. Ford should buy these vehicles back from all affected owners asap. Please compel Ford to do something about this and make things right!

Battery became inoperable due to the BECM voltage issue and can not be driven. It is sitting at Hall Ford in Newport News, VA. 3 calls to Ford have resulted in no action, and I have a 4 year old vehicle I can't use because of this safety recall.

Aug 11, 2023

Ford sent a safety recall notice 23S33 and poorly worded the "What should you do?" section. After calling for clarifications, Ford advised us not to fully charge the high voltage battery. There is no method to limit the charge level and not charging the batteries will damage them. Ford advised the only way to limit the battery charge level is to watch/monitor the vehicle as it charges, and disconnect the power cable prior to fully charging. Ford should provide one of two options without delay: The Ford app should be updated, providing users with the ability to limit the high voltage battery charge level or; Ford should provide its dealer service departments with instructions to program a lower maximum charge limit for the high voltage battery that is consistent with the recommendations from the Safety Recall. While Ford is working on a long-term remedy, and in light of the potential for fire, Ford should take immediate steps to assist its customers with temporary and reasonable options to limit the high voltage battery charge level.
