WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP, THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT LAG BEFORE THE GASOLINE MOTOR ENGAGES AND PROVIDES ENOUGH POWER TO MOVE THE CAR. THIS IS ESPECIALLY PRONOUNCED WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN AGAINST TRAFFIC.

WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON A HOT (90 DEGREE) DAY IN PHOENIX AZ A RED TRIANGLE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND SAID TO STOP IMMEDIATELY, THEN THE ENGINE QUIT. I WAS FORTUNATE TO HAVE A PLACE TO COAST TO AND STOP. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND RE-STARTED THE CAR. IT RAN FINE FOR A FEW MILES, THEN IT STOPPED AGAIN. WHEN TROUBLESHOOTING, THE CODE, POA7C CAME UP. (MOTOR ELECTRIC OVERTEMP) THE WATER PUMP FOR COOLING THE ELECTRIC DRIVE MOTOR WAS REPLACED APPROXIMATELY A YEAR AGO BECAUSE OF THE SAME CODE, BUT THE ENGINE DIDN'T QUIT AT THAT TIME. I NOTICED ONLINE THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH FORD HYBRID CARS. I CALLED A FORD DEALER, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ON MY VEHICLE.

MY CAR LOST POWER WHILE TRAVERSING A BUSY INTERSECTION AND I HAD TO PULL OVER. COULD RESTART, BUT THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. TOWED TO DEALERS, $500 TO REPLACE THROTTLE BODY AND PURGE VALVE. DROVE 1 DAY AND SIMILAR EVENTS OCCURRED. DEALER UNABLE TO GET HELP FROM FORD COMPANY. VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE A CAR JUST QUIT WHILE DRIVING. ON A HIGHWAY THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON LINE OF A SIMILAR NATURE WITH FORD FUSIONS FROM MULTIPLE YEARS AND I AM VERY FRUSTRATED THAT FORD HAS NOT ADDRESSED A POTENTIALLY DISASTROUS SAFETY ISSUE. AND I STILL DON'T HAVE A CAR!

THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND, ONCE RESTARTED, RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (KISTLER FORD SALES INC., 5555 CENTRAL AVE, TOLEDO, OH 43615, (419)-531-9911), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.

DEALER REPLACED THROTTLE BODY, WHICH SOLVED THE PROBLEM. THE FORD "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" INVOLVING THE DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY DOES NOT COVER HYBRID VEHICLES LIKE MINE, EVEN THOUGH IT HAS THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART. I COMPLAINED TO FORD AND THEY CREATED CASE #CAS15334188.

THE CAR STOPPED WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE FREE WAY@55 MPH. DO NOT ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE VIBRATE AND CAR SHAKING. AFTER TURN OFF AND TURNED ON THE ENGINE FEW TIMES, THE CAR WAS PERFORMING FINE. THE DEALER CHECKED. NO MALFUNCTION CODE WAS DETECTED. THEY TOLD THAT 95% IT IS DUE TO THE CLOGGING OF ELECTRONIC THROTTLE VALVE. SO REPLACED. I ASKED AND THEY SHOWED THE OLD ONE. I OBSERVED NO CLOGGING OR GREASE ON THE VALVE. IT WAS CLEAN. THIS PARTS/OR THROTTLE VALVE SYSTEM WAS FUNCTIONING. THE CAR HAS 85,000 MILE.I SPOKE TO FORD ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE. THEY DON'T DO ANY BECAUSE THE WARRANTY EXPIRE.

STARTING JULY 2017 I NOTICED THAT MY THE GASOLINE ENGINE OF FUSION HYBRID HAD DEVELOPED A NOTICEABLY "ROUGH" IDLE WHEN IT CAME ON. IT ALSO RAN "ROUGH" AND HAD AN UNEVEN THROTTLE RESPONSE. A YELLOW WRENCH WOULD ALSO APPEAR OCCASIONALLY ON THE DISPLAY PANEL. THE OWNERS MANUAL INDICATED A "THROTTLE CONTROL/POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION"AND RECOMMENDED CONTACTING THE AUTHORIZED DEALER. BILL COLLINS FORD IN LOUISVILLE ,KY CHECKED AND RAN DIAGNOSTICS BUT COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. ON SEPTEMBER 25, WHILE DRIVING TO WORK IN THE MORNING THE CAR EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN DRASTIC DROP IN SPEED GOING FROM ABOUT 65MPH TO ABOUT 30MPH. THE CAR BECOME UNRESPONSIVE TO THE THROTTLE. THE GASOLINE ENGINE HAD COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND THE CAR WAS LIMPING ALONG POWERED BY THE ELECTRIC ENGINE. BOTH THE WRENCH AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATORS LIT UP ON THE DISPLAY AND STAYED ON. LUCKILY I MADE IT OFF THE EXPRESSWAY AND GOT TO WORK. THIS WAS VERY SCARY AND I WAS LUCKY TO NOT BE REAR ENDED OR CRASHING THE CAR. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART AFTER ABOUT THREE HOURS THE THE GASOLINE ENGINE CAME BACK ON BUT WITH A VERY "ROUGH" IDLE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS TIME THEY DIAGNOSED A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY AND FOR ABOUT $600 REPLACED THE ETB, CLEANED THE "MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR" AND "REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER". HOWEVER, THE THE CAR CONTINUES TO IDLE "ROUGH" AND HAS POOR THROTTLE RESPONSE, WHICH WERE ISSUES THE CAR HAD LEADING INTO THE LOSS OF POWER ON THE EXPRESSWAY. THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND CLAIMS TO BE IN TOUCH THE FORD FACTORY ENGINEERS TO FIND A SOLUTION. THERE IS NO RESPONSE SO FAR. SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD FUSIONS PARTICULARLY THE 2010 MODEL YEAR. NHTSA MANDATED A RECALL PROBLEM FOR 2010 FUSIONS GASOLINE ENGINES BUT NOT HYBRID MODELS!

MY FORD FUSION HYBRID 2010 STALLED WITHOUT ANY WARNING IN THE 5TH LANE OF I-85 IN ATLANTA. MY WIFE, THE RESPONDING POLICE OFFICER, AND MYSELF WERE IN GRAVE DANGER BECAUSE OF THIS. WE WERE BLESSED AND FORTUNATE THAT AN OFFICER HAPPENED TO BE VERY CLOSE WHEN OUR CAR SUDDENLY DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE. THE INTERSTATE TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY - BUT SLOW MOVING DUE TO CONSTRUCTION. THE OFFICER RESPONDED - LITERALLY - WITHIN SECONDS SINCE HE SAW WHAT WAS HAPPENING. HE PLACED HIS CAR BEHIND OURS WITH HIS LIGHTS FLASHING. THE THE OFFICER AND I HAD TO PUSH MY VEHICLE OFF TO THE SIDE. WE WERE ALL IN GRAVE DANGER! AS THE OFFICER WAS CALLING FOR HELP AND A WRECKER, MY CAR SUDDENLY BEGAN WORKING AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES. THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I THEN RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AFTER I RETURNED HOME ONLY TO DISCOVER THAT MANY OTHER FORD FUSION OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM OF RANDOM STALLING. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! WHAT IS FORD WAITING FOR TO RECALL THIS VEHICLE?? I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE DRIVING THIS CAR NOW. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL A TRAGEDY OCCURS BECAUSE OF THIS. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE AND PULLED CODES MYSELF (115) DOLLARS CHEAPER THEN THE DEALERSHIP WOULD HAVE DONE IT. THROTTLE BODY CONTROL FAILURE. THIS IS THE SAME ENGINE THAT HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR ALOT OF VIN NUMBERS BUT MY CAR HAS THIS ISSUE AMD ISNT COVERED.

DURING THE DRIVE HOME THE "CHECK ENGINE " CAME ON BUT CONTINUED NORMALLY. SAME THING HAPPENED THE NEXT DAY WITH LOSS OF POWER AND WRENCH CODES.

I WAS ABLE TO PULL ONTO OFF RAMP IN MY CASE, BUT IF I WAS IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION, I WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY BEEN IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION/SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I TURNED OFF VEHICLE AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE A FEW MINUTES LATER. PROCEEDED TO THE HIGHWAY AGAIN, EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM AGAIN, THIS TIME I WAS ONLY ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE LEFT SHOULDER, WHICH WAS QUITE NARROW TO BEGIN WITH."WRENCH SYMBOL" APPEARED THE SECOND TIME AND STAYED ON WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE FURTHER. THE CHECK ENGINE TROUBLE SHOOTING CODES I HAD WERE P2111 AND P2112. CAUSE OF THIS ISSUE IS KNOWN TO FORD MOTOR BUT THEY REFUSE TO INCLUDE HYBRID CARS IN THEIR "CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03". THROTTLE BODY CONTROL MODULE SENOR, INCLUDING THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE AS FORD HAS AGREED TO REPLACE THIS ON MILLIONS OF CARS ACROSS VARIOUS MODEL YEARS, INCLUDING THE FUSION 2010, BUT NOT FUSION HYBRID VERSIONS. FORD STATES THEY WILL NOT REPAIR PROBLEM THAT I EXPERIENCED RECENTLY UNDER THIS ESTABLISHED PROGRAM WHICH NHTSA WAS PROPONENT FOR. THE DEFECTIVE PART IN QUESTION IS THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY AND SENSOR WHICH IS NO DIFFERENT THAN THE PART IN THE NON-HYBRID VERSION FOR THE SAME MODEL YEAR. REAL HAZARD TO DRIVER AND I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT REAR ENDED AS A RESULT OR IN A SERIOUS CAR ACCIDENT FROM THIS KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART. FORD MOTOR MUST BE REQUIRED TO NOTIFY ALL AFFECTED OWNERS WHO WILL/HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AT THEIR EXPENSE, AS THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT MUST BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY GIVEN NUMBER OF VEHICLES THAT ARE INVOLVED THAT WILL EXPERIENCE THIS. MY 2010 FUSION HYBRID BEGAN A NO-START/STALLING CONDITION. IT HAS HAPPENED SIX TIMES NOW. FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS AFTER FUELING AT LOW SPEED AFTER ENTERING STREET. SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH. THIRD OCCURRENCE WAS WHILE EXITING THE INTERSTATE. FOURTH OCCURRENCE WAS AT LOW SPEED. FIFTH OCCURRENCE WAS IMMEDIATELY AFTER REFUELING WHILE STILL IN PARKING LOT. AND SIXTH OCCURENCE WAS ALSO IMMEDIATELY AFTER REFUELING JUST AFTER LEAVING GAS STATION AT LOW SPEED. FOUR OF THE SIX OCCURRENCES WAS A FAILURE FOR THE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE TO START AFTER THE ELECTRIC MOTOR HAD ALREADY BEGAN MOVING THE VEHICLE. THE OTHER TWO OCCURRENCES WAS WHILE COASTING. IN ALL INSTANCES THERE WOULD BE A RED TRIANGLE WARNING MESSAGE TO PULL OVER SAFELY, NO CODES WERE THROWN ACCORDING TO THE ENGINEERING REPORT, NO ISSUES REPORTED VIA THE VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT, THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING IN A MOSTLY LEVEL AND STRAIGHT LINE, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD USUALLY RESET AND RUN NORMALLY AFTER THE FIRST OR SECOND ATTEMPT AT RESTARTING ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER.

THE CAR DID NOT STALL BUT IT COULD NOT GAIN MOMENTUM. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD TO STOP IN THE RIGHT LANE BECAUSE THERE WAS NO SHOULDER AND THE ENGINE HAD STARTED MAKING A VERY LOUD/ROUGH SOUND. I WAITED 5 MIN AND STARTED THE CAR AGAIN. EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE, THE INDICATOR LIGHT HAD CLEARED AND ENGINE SOUNDED NORMAL. I DROVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. OVER THE WEEKEND THE CAR OPERATED NORMALLY. ON MONDAY 8/1/2016 ON MY WAY TO WORK THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN. THE CAR REMAINED OPERATIONAL BUT COULDN'T GO MORE THAN 20-30 MPH. THE HYBRID BATTERY WOULD DRAIN VERY QUICKLY AND THE REGENERATION MOTOR RAN CONSTANTLY AND SOMETIME VERY ROUGH. I MANAGED TO DRIVE IT TO MY MECHANIC. HIS DIAGNOSTIC REPORT SHOWED A P2112 CODE (THROTTLE BODY STUCK CLOSED). HE PROPOSED CLEANING THE VALVE AS A FIRST STEP BUT HE DIDN'T THINK THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. WE TRIED THAT BUT TWO DAYS LATER THE PROBLEM CAME BACK. MY MECHANIC ADVISED THAT WHILE HE COULD REPLACE THE ETB, HE WAS NOT EQUIPPED TO CALIBRATE IT AND THAT ONLY FORD COULD DO THIS WORK. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT WHILE RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM HE'D COME ACROSS INFORMATION THAT MY PROBLEM MIGHT BE COVERED BY AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I CALLED FORD ABOUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THEY TOLD ME THAT HYBRIDS ARE NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT NHTSA DROPPED THE BALL ON THIS IF THE SAME PROBLEM IS HAPPENING TO HYBRID OWNERS AS IS TO NON-HYBRID OWNERS FOR VEHICLE MODELS OF THE SAME YEARS. MY VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 58,700 MILES WHEN TROUBLE STARTED. NO ONE I SPOKE TO AT FORD COULD TELL ME WHY HYBRIDS ARE NOT COVERED BY THE ETB EXTENDED WARRANTY. SEEMS TO ME NHTSA NEEDS TO RE-OPEN THEIR INVESTIGATION ON THIS ISSUE!

ON JUNE 7, 2016, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2010 FORD FUSION HYBRID ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME UP AND THE CAR LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO NORTH CENTRAL FORD WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED BY REPLACING THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY AND REPROGRAMMING THE PCM. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 58,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. WHY DOES FORD EXCLUDE HYBRIDS FROM THIS KNOWN PROBLEM AND ITS ASSOCIATED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03, POPULATION OF HYBRIDS TOO SMALL? IT MAKES NO SENSE. THE PART, FAILURE SYMPTOMS AND FIX ARE THE SAME AS THOSE IN THE FORD CARS COVERED BY 13N03. AND WHY DID THE NHTSA ALLOW FORD NOT TO HAVE A RECALL FOR THE DEFECTIVE PART, POLITICS? I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE INCIDENTS WITH MY 2010 FORD FUSION HYBRID WHERE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND THE ENGINE WILL SUDDENLY LOSE POWER AND THE THROTTLE BECOMES UNRESPONSIVE. SOME OF THESE INCIDENTS OCCURRED DURING FREEWAY DRIVING. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, AN ORANGE WRENCH WOULD APPEAR ON MY DASH DISPLAY, SOMETIMES ACCOMPANIED BY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. PER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER : PE13003, FORD HAD ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM TO COVER REPLACEMENT OF THIS DEFECTIVE PART, BUT THEY ELECTED TO EXCLUDE THE FUSION HYBRID. UPON CONTACTING FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SPEAKING WITH A SUPERVISOR. I WAS ADVISED THAT FORD WAS EXCLUDING THE HYBRID MODEL BECAUSE ITS 2.5L ENGINE IS DIFFERENT THAN THE 2.5L ENGINES IN THE NON-HYBRID MODELS. WHILE THERE MAY BE DIFFERENCES IN THE ENGINE, THIS IS STILL THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART NUMBER THAT IS IN ALL OF THE OTHER FORD VEHICLES THAT RECEIVED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, AND ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD THE CAR SERVICED, THE CAR INCORRECTLY RETURNED THE SAME ERROR CODE (P2112, "THROTTLE BODY STUCK CLOSED") THAT THE COVERED VEHICLES RETURNED. THE SERVICE MANAGER ADVISED THAT IT MAKES NO SENSE THAT MY VEHICLE WOULD BE EXCLUDED AND ADVISED THAT I CONTACT FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WAS ADVISED BY CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT EVEN THOUGH THE PART IS DEFECTIVE WHEN INSTALLED ON SOME VEHICLES, IT MAY NOT BE DEFECTIVE WHEN INSTALLED ON OTHERS. THAT SAID, THE PART DISPLAYED THE SAME PATTERN OF FAILURE, THE SAME SYMPTOMS AND THE SAME ERROR CODES AS THE PART COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. IT'S THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART. IT MAKES NO SENSE THAT 1.6 MILLION THROTTLE BODIES MAY BE FAULTY ON NON-HYBRID VEHICLES, BUT THE SAME PART HAPPENS TO BE OKAY ON ALL 60,000 FUSION HYBRIDS. I WAS FORCED TO MAKE THE REPAIR OUT OF POCKET.

UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE AFTER A MINUTE, IT WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES, WHEN THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED, AND THE SAME STEPS WERE TAKEN. IT OCCURRED AGAIN 90 MINUTES LATER. SYMPTOMS CORRESPOND TO OTHER ACCOUNTS OF ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ISSUES, BUT FORD SAYS THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY RECALLS, EXTENDED WARRANTIES, OR CUSTOMER SAFETY PROGRAMS.

I TOOK MY CAR TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER (DAVID MCDAVID) IN FORT WORTH. THEY DETERMINED THE PROBLEM IS A DEFECT IN THE THROTTLE BODY HOWEVER THEY WILL NOT FIX IT UNDER THE TERMS OF 13N03 AS FORD BELIEVES IT DOES NOT APPLY TO THE HYBRID. I CAN ASSURE YOU IT APPLIES. FIRST TIME, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY BUT NO APPARENT IMPACT TO CAR'S FUNCTIONING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THAT THE SURGE VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $500 "TO START WITH", BUT THEY DIDN'T SEEM VERY SURE ABOUT IT SO I CHOSE NOT TO PROCEED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD GONE BACK OFF AND THE CAR WAS DRIVING FINE. ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER ON A SATURDAY I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN, AT ABOUT 65 MPH, WHEN THE CAR SEEMED TO LOSE ACCELERATION. STANDING ON GAS PEDAL PRODUCED NO RESULT. EXITED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ON BATTERY POWER TO PULL OVER. AFTER WAITING FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES, TRIED AGAIN. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS BACK OFF AND CAR DROVE NORMALLY BACK HOME. TOOK TO MY REGULAR MECHANIC FIRST THING THAT MONDAY. THEY FOUND OIL IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND QUESTIONED WHETHER I HAD TAKEN THE CAR ANYWHERE UNUSUAL FOR SERVICING, WHICH I HAD NOT, UNLESS YOU COUNT THE DEALER. DID REPAIRS AT A COST OF $2000. ONE WEEK LATER, EXACT SAME THING. CAR IS BACK IN SHOP, AWAITING RESULTS.

WE LEARNED THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY THAT CAUSES THIS PROBLEM FOR THE FORD FUSION BUT NOT FOR THE HYBRID VERSION. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND RESTARTED THE CAR. IT IDLED ROUGH AT FIRST BUT I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE THE DRIVE HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND DISCOVERED THAT FORD FUSIONS OF MY YEAR AND MILEAGE WERE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. THE FIRST RECOMMENDED COARSE OF ACTION WAS TO USE A THROTTLE BODY CLEANER. I DID THIS AND THE CAR SEEMED TO OPERATE FINE UNDER CONDITIONS 25 MPH. I SET OFF TO WORK ON THE 6TH AND THE CAR SHUT OFF ON ME SIX TIMES BEFORE I COULD MAKE IT TWENTY MILES AND GET BACK TO THE HOUSE. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND NEEDS TO BE HANDLED APPROPRIATELY.

THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOOK A QUICK LOOK AT IT AND AGREED THAT IT WAS THE BATTERY (SAID IT HAD PROBABLY GOTTEN TOO HOT) AND TOLD ME THE CAR WAS OKAY TO DRIVE. SO AGAIN I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND GOING ABOUT 10 MILES PER HOUR WENT TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. THEY DETERMINED IT WAS A FAILED THROTTLE BODY AND REPLACED IT THE NEXT DAY. *TR

WHY HAS NOTHING BEEN DONE YET? I'M A FAIRLY POOR UPSTANDING MEMBER OF SOCIETY, AND I WAS TRYING TO BE GREEN. NOW I'M STUCK WITH A $16,000 GO CART THAT I CANT DRIVE ON A HIGHWAY BECAUSE IT CAN'T GO OVER 35MPH. I HAD 2 YELLOW WRENCHES ON MY DASH. I WAS STUCK IN A ONE LANE RODE WITH NO PLACE TO PULL OVER AND ABOUT 100 PEOPLE HONKING AT ME. I HAVE BEEN A FAITHFUL FORD OWNER FOR OVER 13 YEARS; I'VE BEEN TELLING MY FRIENDS AND CO-WORKERS HOW GREAT THEY ARE. THE CAR STALLS AT VARIED SPEEDS WHICH IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. I OWNED A 2010 FORD FUSION PREVIOUSLY WITH MY COMPANY FLEET VEHICLE PROGRAM, AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS FIXED WITHOUT QUESTION. AT THAT TIME I WAS UNAWARE OF THIS BEING PART OF A BIGGER PROBLEM. IN THE FALL OF 2011, I PURCHASED A DIFFERENT 2010 FORD FUSION FROM OUR FLEET AS IT WAS BEING TURNED IN, AND THIS IS THE VEHICLE THAT I AM DISCUSSING IN THIS FORUM. IT ONLY HAS 30000 MILES ON IT, BUT IS 6 MONTHS OUT OF THE 36 MONTH BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. THE CAR STALLED ONCE, A MONTH AGO, AND THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO RECTIFY ITSELF. THEN YESTERDAY, 6/19/2013, IT STALLED 6 TIMES. MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DRIVES THE CAR AND WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. FOR ALMOST ONE MINUTE, THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART, BUT FINALLY DID, AND SHE WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE INTERSECTION. AS I READ THE FORUMS, IT IS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT THIS IS A NATIONWIDE PROBLEM, LOOKING BACK, I'VE HAD 2 CARS WITH THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM. THE SERVICE MEN AT THE DEALERSHIP KNOW THAT THE PROBLEM IS SPECIFIC TO THE THROTTLEBODY, WHICH IS DEFECTIVE, AND THERE IS OVER A WEEK BACKLOG ON THE PARTS AS MORE AND MORE CARS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM, TO LOSE POWER TO A VEHICLE IN MOTION AND FORD IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, YET THEY ARE TAKING NO STEPS IN ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. IT IS GOING TO COST ME $600 TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED, AS IT IS OUTSIDE THE 3 YEAR WARRANT, YET FORD KNOWS THAT THIS WAS A MODEL WIDE ISSUE WITH A DEFECTIVE CAR PART. I AM DISAPPOINTED AND ANGRY THAT A GLARING PROBLEM SUCH AS THIS IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED DUE TO FORD ATTEMPTING TO LET THE PROBLEM HOPEFULLY JUST FADE AWAY AND NOT BE TAKEN TO TASK OVER THIS ISSUE. I WAS ON THE LEFT LANE GOING 55MPH ON A FREEWAY UP A SLIGHT INCLINE WHEN I NOTICED I WAS LOSING SPEED. PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL A LITTLE HARDER THINKING I NEEDED TO COMPENSATE FOR THE INCLINE, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I NOTICED A YELLOW WRENCH APPEAR ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH DISPLAY. I HAD THE GAS PEDAL TO THE GROUND AND CAR STILL WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BUT DECELERATED ALL THE WAY DOWN TO 30MPH WHERE IT STOPPED DECELERATING AND MAINTAINED THIS SPEED. I HAD TO MANEUVER AT 30MPH OFF THE FREEWAY TO GET INTO THE RIGHT SHOULDER LANE. TURNED THE CAR OFF, THEN BACK ON. YELLOW WRENCH NO LONGER VISIBLE AND CAR OPERATED NORMALLY. THIS POSES A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. LUCKILY IT WAS NOT DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND THE CARS BEHIND ME YIELDED TO MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND LET ME GET TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER LANE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND HAD JUST EXITED TO A SURFACE STREET. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN AND WOULDN'T GO OVER 15 MILES PER HOUR. A RED TRIANGLE AND A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IT SAID SOMETHING LIKE YOU MAY NOW SAFELY PULL OVER AND COME TO A STOP. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT STILL ON A VERY CROWDED FREEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY UNSAFE TO BE IN THE LEFT LANE OF ONE OF THE MOST CROWDED FREEWAYS IN THE COUNTRY AND THE CAR SUDDENLY WILL NOT GO MORE THAN 15 MPH. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE DIAGNOSIS COST ME $200. I AM VERY HESITANT TO DRIVE THIS CAR NOW. *TR
