The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, she noticed that the steering wheel was locked, making it difficult to control the vehicle. As a result of losing control of the vehicle, the contact's daughter was struck on the driver's side by another vehicle, after which the driver's side air bags failed to deploy. The passenger-side air bags did deploy. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard, where it remained. No warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel. A police report was filed. The contact's daughter was taken to the Emergency Room and treated for injuries to her head, left shoulder, and left leg. The other driver was also transported to the Emergency Room and treated for undisclosed injuries. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The contact owned a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact's husband was driving in poor weather conditions speed unknown, hit ice and the vehicle skidded into a streetlight pole on the passenger side door. The vehicle caromed across the road and hit the opposite curb and rolled onto the roof. The contact stated she was not aware of any warning lights being illuminated. The contact said that the driver’s side airbags did not deploy, and the passenger side airbags deployed but did not inflate. The police wrote out a traffic report and the driver were transported by ambulance to a hospital with injuries to his back, neck and head requiring emergency surgery. The passenger was being taken by the contact to a hospital today sustaining head pain and wrist pain. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The vehicle had not been diagnosed. The vehicle will not be repaired. The contact stated that she had received a recall letter for the air bags and that the vehicle had been taken to a local dealer. AND NOW 2ND RECALL IS THE ANTI-LOCK BREAK WHICH CLAIMS IT CAN BE OPEN CAUSING YOU TO HAVE TO BREAKER SOONER POSSIBLE CAUSING A CRASH. I HAVE ALREADY CONTACTED NHTSA, REFERENCE # 11119887, I EXPLAINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD TO ME ON JANUARY 21, 2017 BY AL PIEMONTE FORD DEALERSHIP IN ILLINOIS. I HAD NO KNOWLEDGE THAT THE VEHICLE ALREADY HAD AN AIRBAG RECALL ON IT AND THEY SOLD IT TO ME WITHOUT DISCLOSING THIS INFORMATION. THEY LATER SENT ME MY FIRST RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL 16S26 / NHTSA RECALL 16V-384 WE WERE INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. WHEN I WENT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER, WHERE I WAS TOLD TO GO, THE FORD DEALERSHIP INFORMED US THAT THE RECALL WAS ONLY FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE NOT FOR THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG. I SHOWED THEM PROOF OF OUR ACCIDENT INCLUDING PICTURES FROM THE INSURANCE SHOWING THE FORD DEALER THAT NEITHER OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED DURING THE ACCIDENT. WE PROVIDED PROOF AND PAPERWORK TO THE FORD DEALER. THEY ONLY REPLACED ONE AIRBAG FOR FREE AND FORCED US TO PAY $536.41 OUT OF POCKET. THIS IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE AND WE HAVE A SMALL CHILD. THEY TOLD US THE FACT THAT THE DRIVER SIDE DID NOT DEPLOY DURING THE CAR ACCIDENT IS NOT THERE PROBLEM AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO; SO WE HAD NO OTHER CHOICE, WE WE'RE FORCED TO HAVE BOTH AIRBAGS REPLACED. MY CAR WAS PUT ON A WAITING LIST AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO IDEA WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. THREE WEEKS LATER, I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN BUT I WAS TOLD AGAIN THAT THEY HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT WHEN THE PART IS AVAILABLE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT IS GOING ON HERE. WHEN FORD, THE MANUFACTURE, SAID THAT THE PART IS AVAILABLE, CAN'T THE DEALERSHIP JUST ORDER THE PART FOR CUSTOMERS. IT IS OUTRAGES THAT I RECEIVED MY FIRST RECALL NOTICE BACK IN 2014, BUT I STILL HAVE NOT GET IT FIXED ALMOST IN 2019. I WORK AT A BAR SO I LEAVE LATE HOURS I WAS VERY SCARED BY A GENTLEMAN HANGING AROUND SO I GOT IN MY CAR TO LOCK THE DOORS ONLY TO BREAK MY HANDLE AND FIND OUT THIS HAPPENS A LOT AND WHEN THE MECHANISM BREAKS THE LOCKS NO LONGER WORK.

THE LAST LETTER I RECEIVED STATED THAT PARTS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE IN THE SECOND OR THIRD QUARTER OF 2018. IT IS NOW THE END OF THE FOURTH QUARTER AND I HAD HEARD NOTHING. THE REALITY IS THAT I WILL LIKELY NEVER GET A REPLACEMENT, AND I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO DEAL WITH A NEVER ENDING RUN-AROUND. A FEW HOURS LATER AFTER WE HAD PARKED THE CAR, WE GOT CALL TO GO AND PICK UP MY HUBBY'S MEDICINE FROM WALGREEN, SO WE DID. WHEN RICK GOT BACK TO CAR, I TRIED TO START IT UP. IT BUCKED, MADE NOISE AND I FELT LIKE I WAS RIDING A MECHANICAL BULL. I HAD PULLED OUT ABOUT 3 FEET, SO I HAD TO PULL BACK UP. I CALLED MY BEST FRIEND'S BOYFRIEND WHO CAME AND SAID HE THOUGHT THE CAR DID THIS BECAUSE TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND POSSIBLY DID ENGINE DAMAGE FROM SITTING FOR 2 1/2 MONTHS WHILE WE DROVE A RENTAL FOR SAME 2 1/2 MONTHS. TODAY, 10/31/17, I GET THIS CARD IN THE MAIL STATING THAT TK HOLDINGS ARE FILING CHAPTER 11. DOES THIS MEAN THEY WILL NOT BE FIXING MY CAR'S PROBLEM? THIS HAS GONE ON FOR OVER A YEAR AND IT MAKES NO SENSE WHY THIS AIRBAG ISSUE ISN'T FIXED BY NOW. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE ASSIST ME WITH THIS MATTER. I HAD GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAG EXPLODED ON ME I WASNT GOING FAST AT ALL WHEN THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED. BY HAVING THE AIR BAG EXPLOXED ON ME HAS CAUSED ME TO HAVE BRUISED CHEST BONE AND A CONCUSSION AND IT TOOK AWHILE FOR ME TO RECOVER FROM THE ACCIDENT.

FORD IS MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO FOLLOW THROUGH AND I HAVE THE CAR BEING HELD SO IT CAN BE INSPECTED. I AM AFRAID THEY ARE DEFECTIVE AND WILL RESULT IN THE DEATH OF SOMEONE. I WAS FLOWN BY HELICOPTER WITH SEVERE HEAD INJURIES AND FROM THE PICTURES, YOU CAN SEE THE BLOOD SPOT WHERE MY HEAD CRACKED THE SIDE PANEL DIRECTLY BELOW WHERE THE AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE COME OUT. THE IMPACT ZONES ON THE CAR ARE WITH OUT QUESTION WORTHY OF MAKING THE AIRBAG DEPLOY. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AT 55 MPH INTO A SAND DUNE. THE CAR ROLLED OVER FOUR TIMES AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WAS NO AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO OR AFTER THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER.*AK

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER INCURRED A NASAL FRACTURE, HEAD AND MUSCULAR INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN, AND THE VEHICLE WAS CONSIDERED A TOTAL LOSS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER AFTER THE CRASH.
