TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED INTO FOURTH GEAR, OVERDRIVE, AND THEN DOWNSHIFTED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, BUT MANAGED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION GEAR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,547.

WHEN DRIVING ON CITY STREET AT 45MPH THE CAR JOLTED EXCESSIVELY ONCE AND THEN WENT OUT OF GEAR UNTILL IT SLOWED TO 30MPH AND SLAMMED AGAIN VIOLENTLY AND RPMS WENT UP TO 5000 WHICH MAINTANED MY SPEED AT 45MPH AT THAT TIME THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND AS I WAS COMING TO A RED LIGHT IT JERKED FORWARD WHILE I WAS BRAKING ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN IN CROSSWALK. AT GREEN LIGHT I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE BUT THE CAR MOVED SLOWLY UNTILL IT REACHED 25 MPH AND THEN WENT OUT OF GEAR WHILE I WAS ON THE GAS I TRIED TO PUT IT INTO LOW GEAR TO GET GOING SO I COULD PULL OVER BUT IT DIDNT RESPOND AS THIS WAS HAPPENING A DESIEL TRUCK HAD REAR ENDED ME TOTALING THE CAR I JUST BOUGHT A WEEK PRIOR. . ITS VERY UNSAFE CAR FOR THIS TRANSMISSION IS APPARENTLY PLAGUED WITH THIS PROBLEM FOR SO MANY OTHERS I JUST HOPE IT DOSENT TAKE EVEN ONE DEATH OF ANOTHER LIFE BEFORE THIS PROBLEM IS ADMITTED AND RECALLED TO FIX. SO MANY DEPEND ON THEIR CAR AS I HAD DEPENDED ON FORDS SLOGANS BUILT FORD TOUGH ...YEAH BUILT TO GET US NEARLY KILLED I SAY. THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS LOST IN THE CAR PURCHASE AND LOST WORK AND MEDICAL BILLS I MAY NOT RECOVER FROM. AT LEAST I DIDNT DIE AND AM THANKFULL FOR THAT. BUT I WILL NEVER LOOK AT FORD THE SAME WAY AS MY NIGHTMARES CONSUME ME WITH THE REOCCURRING DETAILS OF MY NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE I HAD OPERATING THIS FUSION SE.

MY 2006 FORD FUSION JERKS VIOLENTLY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE OR BRAKE. IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE AT TIMES, IT INSTEAD JUST REVS MY RPM GAUGE. IT HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY GOING HWY SPEEDS OF 60-70, AS WELL AS GOING 35 MPH ON A MILITARY BASE. IT BUMPED WHILE BRAKING AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 20 MPH AS WELL. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE IT IS ABSOLUTELY UNSAFE, ESPECIALLY FOR CUSTOMERS WITH CHILDREN. THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO MINE IS APPALLING, AS FORD STILL SEES NO RESPONSIBILITY OVER IT.

2006 FORD FUSION: TRANSMISSION SLIPPING WHILE DRIVING. SLOWS DOWN WHILE ON FREEWAY AND GOES IN OUT OF GEAR. TOOK IT TO AMMCO AND THEY RECOMMEND A REBUILT TRANSMISSION. I SEE MANY OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS THEY RECALLED FOCUS AND FIESTA WHY NOT FUSION? IT IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT IS IN BEING SETTLED NOW WITH THE FOCUS AND FORD FIESTA. THIS IS NOT ONLY DANGEROUS BUT COSTLY. 2006 FORD FUSION: WHEN DRIVING AFTER THE CAR GETS WARM UP IT IS STARTS SLIPPING AND SHIFTING SOMEONE HARSHLY LIKE IT JUST GOT KICKED. I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND COULDN'T SPEED UP ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. I SEE OTHERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AFTER DOING A SEARCH I FOUND DIFFERENT ANSWER AS WHAT COULD BE WRONG. FOUND OUT WHAT THE ISSUE IS WITH THE AISIN TRANSMISSIONS SLIPPING WHICH WERE USED IN THE 2006 FUSION. IT IS DUE TO VALVE BORE WEAR IN THE MAIN CONTROL. IF THE TRANS FLUID ISNT BURNT (MEANING THERE IS INTERNAL TRANS CLUTCH DAMAGE) THEN YOU ARE LOOKING AT $800-$1000 TO REPLACE THE MAIN CONTROL. IF THE CLUTCHES ARE BURNT THE WHOLE TRANS WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED COST??? SOMETHING LIKE $4000-$5000. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN FORD BOUGHT THE AISIN TRANS, FORD DID NOT BUY THE SERVICE RIGHTS. SO THERE ARE NO SERVICE PARTS AVAILABLE OR TRAINING AVAIL ON HOW TO SERVICE THIS TRANS. OUR 2006 FUSION SEL'S TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR SINCE AROUND 44K MILES. WHILE IN FORWARD MOTION, REGARDLESS OF THE CURRENT SPEED OR RPMS THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR AND THE FOLLOWING MAY HAPPEN, SOMETIMES ALL IN THE SAME OCCURRENCE: (1) A SUDDEN TRANSMISSION SURGE THEN A JERK RESULTING IN HIGH REVVING RPMS WITH NO FORWARD POWER. THE GAS PEDAL ONLY REVS THE ENGINE WITH NO FORWARD ACCELERATION (2) A SUDDEN GRAB/SLAM OUT OF AND BACK INTO GEAR JOLTING ANYONE IN THE CAR SIGNIFICANTLY (3) GEAR SLIPPAGE RESULTING IN HIGH REVVING RPM INTO THE RED ZONE, NO FORWARD ACCELERATION, AND NO RETURN TO PREVIOUS OR ANY OTHER GEAR (4) BUCKING SURGES OF ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION MAKING THE CAR IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL AND DRIVE SAFELY. WHILE ADVANCING FROM A COMPLETE STOP SUCH AS A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC SIGNAL (1) TRANSMISSION MAY NOT COME OUT OF HIGH GEAR AND CAR WILL MOVE ONLY SLOWLY UNTIL STOPPED AND RESTARTED (2) TRANSMISSION STAYS IN HIGH GEAR AND THE CAR MOVES SLOWLY ONLY TO UNCONTROLLABLY JOLT FORWARD WHILE SLAMMING INTO A LOWER GEAR. WE WERE TOLD BY A FORD DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT PRESENTS ITSELF AROUND 40K MILES AND USUALLY AFTER THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. ESTIMATES TO REPAIR RANGED FROM $2,500 TO $4,500. IN ADDITION TO THE REPAIR COSTS, THERE IS THE MUCH HIGHER POTENTIAL COSTS OF LOST LIVES DUE TO THE LACK OF CONTROL THIS ISSUE PUTS THE DRIVER IN. WHEN A DRIVER IMMEDIATELY HAS NO CONTROL OF FORWARD MOMENTUM AND SUDDENLY HAS NO WAY TO DIRECT THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE LOCATION AT CURRENT TRAFFIC SPEEDS, THERE IS A SUDDEN POTENTIAL FOR LOSS OF LIVES FOR THE OCCUPANTS OF THE CAR AND POTENTIALLY THE VEHICLES FOLLOWING BEHIND.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 20-38 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT GEARS, JERKED SEVERELY, AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANDERSON FORD LINCOLN (3601 STOCKTON HILL RD, KINGMAN, AZ 86409, (928) 757-3131) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE 4TH AND 5TH GEARS WERE INCORRECT. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER FOR THE GEAR REPAIRS, IT WAS ALSO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VALVE BODY AND SOLENOIDS NEEDED REPLACEMENT, AND THE PCM AND TCM NEEDED REPROGRAMMING. ALL THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION FACILITY WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE SAME FAILURE AND PARTS AS THE DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ONCE AGAIN REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION FACILITY WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACEMENT AND THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT REPLACED BECAUSE HE ALREADY SPENT MONEY TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

ALSO I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE DOOR HANDLES AND LOCKS 3 TIMES SINCE I HAVE PURCHASE. THE HANDLES JUST SNAP OFF. THE CAR WILL UNLOCK BUT I HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK MOST LOCKS AND OPEN THE CAR BY PUTTING DOWN THE WINDOW.

AGAIN, AFTER STARTING THE CAR THE NEXT DAY IT WAS RUNNING FINE, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY OTHER LIGHTS ON. IT RAN FINE UNTIL JUNE 2015. AT THIS POINT I HAD HAD ENOUGH AND CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. MIND YOU, MY CAR ONLY HAS 51K ORIGINAL MILES. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AND DROPPED IT OFF ON JUNE 24TH, 2015. I WAS CALLED THAT DAY AND TOLD THAT FORD WOULD NOT BE COVERING THE THROTTLE BODY BECAUSE MY VIN# WAS NOT ONE LISTED. I QUESTIONED THIS BECAUSE THE INFORMATION I FOUND REGARDING THE WARRANTY FOR THE PART DIDN'T MENTION SPECIFIC VINS ONLY. THE SERVICE PERSON STATED THAT THEY WOULD FIX IT BUT ONLY IF I PAID FOR THE THROTTLE BODY PART AND LABOR. I PICKED THE CAR UP TODAY, JUNE 25TH, 2015 AND PAID A SHOCKING 788.94 FOR THIS PART AND LABOR AND THE 39.99 OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION SPECIAL. THIS IS INSANE. I WAS NOT IN A CRASH OR WRECK HOWEVER IT DID SURGE AND DROP SPEED TO 20 MILES AN HOUR WITH CARS BEHIND ME SLAMMING ON BREAKS. I RESEARCHED AND FORD HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM ON THEIR CARS, BUT SAID MINE IS NOT INCLUDED EVEN THOUGH I FELL INTO THE 10 YEAR UNDER 150,000 MILES. THEY SAID MY VIN IS NOT COVERED.

MY 06 FUSION HAS BEEN SHIFTING FUNNY, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. WHILE HAVING MY OIL CHANGED, I HAD A 6 POINT INSPECTION DONE, AND NOTHING CAME BACK EXCEPT MY TIE-RODS NEEDING REPLACED. ONE NIGHT, WHILE DRIVING HOME, SUDDENLY MY CAR HAD A HESITATION WHEN SHIFTING INTO SECOND GEAR. IT WOULD REV UP TO 3 RPM, THEN SHIFT HARD INTO 2ND GEAR AND RUN FINE. TWO STOP LIGHTS LATER, THE SHIFT BEGAN TO GET HARDER. I FINALLY MADE IT HOME, BUT LATER HAD TO RUN AN ERRAND. THE SHIFTING GOT WORSE. WHEN I WAS DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CAR DID A LITTLE JERK LIKE IT HAD MISSED. NO LIGHTS CAME ON AND I DROVE TO THE NEAREST SIDE ROAD OFF THE HIGHWAY AND STOPPED. I TRIED TO GO FURTHER BUT ONLY MADE IT ABOUT 100 YARDS BECAUSE I LOST ALL POWER INCLUDING STEERING. MY CAR WAS HALF IN THE ROAD SO I WAS THANKFUL THIS WAS NOT A HIGH TRAFFIC ROAD. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THERE WAS A SMELL. IT WASN'T THE SMELL OF OIL BUT WAS A FLUID SMELL. THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT CAME UP AS A MISFIRE 3 AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE COIL. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THE 3 COIL WHEN IT BLEW IT TOOK OUT THE OTHER COILS AS WELL AS THE 6 SPARK PLUGS AND THE PCM. THIS WAS A $2250 REPAIR. I ONLY HAVE 68,000 ON THE CAR. AFTER READING OTHER TSB, SOME STATED THAT IF UNDER 80,000 MILES/8 YEARS THAT IT WAS COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY. I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD I MISSED THE 8 YEAR MARK BY EXACTLY 30 DAYS. THERE WAS NOTHING THAT I COULD DO BUT HOLD ON TO MY RECEIPTS IN CASE THERE WOULD EVER BE A RECALL. THIS IS THE ONLY MAJOR ISSUE I HAVE HAD. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY OTHER ENGINE ISSUES WITH THE CAR. I'VE ONLY HAD 2 MINOR ISSUES BEFORE THIS AND THEY WERE THE LUMBAR GOING OUT IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT ($300 REPAIR THAT I DID NOT REPLACE) AND 2 DOOR HANDLES BREAKING FROM THE INSIDE THAT WERE $160 TO REPLACE EACH. I DID REPLACE BC OF THE SAFETY ISSUE OF NOT BEING ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. AFTER READING THE TSB, I SEE THAT THE PCM AND COILS ARE A RECURRING ISSUE AND I AM THANKFUL I WAS ON A SIDE ROAD WHEN IT OCCURRED... ALL THE WHILE THE WRENCH LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED FOR AN APPROX. 25 MILES. ONCE IN A SAFE LOCATION I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED APPROXIMATELY TWO MINUTES BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO RESTART IT. I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND UNDERSTANDABLY I FOUND THAT THEY HAD CLOSED AND REOPENING THE NEXT DAY WAS/IS IN QUESTION DUE TO THE WEATHER. *TR

I WAS DRIVING UP A STEEP HILL WHEN THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP IN AND OUT OF GEAR. SEVERAL VERY LOUD CLUNKING NOISES WERE HEARD UNDER THE VEHICLE LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. PURCHASED 2006 FORD FUSION SEL 6 CYL, NEW. AND ABOUT YEAR AGO STARTING HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. UPON ACCELERATING BETWEEN 25-40, THE TRANSMISSION JUMPS IN AND OUT OF GEAR, OFTEN MAKING A LOUD BANGING NOISE AND TAKING AWAY ALL ACCELERATION. BOUGHT THE CAR USED WITH APPROX. 45,000 MILES ON IT FROM FORD DEALERSHIP. WITHIN A WEEK I WAS BACK AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT AT. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, STUCK IN GEAR, JERK VIOLENTLY. THEY GAVE ME A LOANER CAR TO DRIVE, ANOTHER 06 FORD FUSION. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND IT WAS THE WAY I DRIVE. I TOLD THEM I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE LOANER CAR OR ANY OTHER CAR I'VE EVER DRIVEN OR OWNED. THEY INSISTED I WAS WRONG. OVER THE NEXT MONTH I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ENCOUNTERED THE SAME RESISTANCE. THE PROBLEM GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND DANGEROUS TO DRIVE TO THE POINT WHERE I WOULD BE GOING 60+ MPH ON A HIGHWAY AND THE CAR WENT INTO NEUTRAL. I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO AND WHILE I WAS STOPPED I TURNED OFF THE MOTOR. THE CAR STARTED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO, SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR WHEN HAVING TO ACCELERATE. IT ALSO SLAMS INTO GEAR WHEN DOWN SHIFTING. EARLY MAY 2011 I WAS DRIVING HOME AT 65MPH AND I LOST 5TH GEAR. THEN 4TH GEAR. ON WAY TO DEALERSHIP I LOST 3RD GEAR. WARRANTY COVERED A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION. 06 FORD FUSION DOESN'T SHIFT - I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY DAUGHTER FROM NV TO AZ. I OWN A 2006 FORD FUSION SE WITH THE 3.0 V6 ENGINE. AT JUST OVER 55,000 MILES, VEHICLE WOULD COME OUT OF GEAR WHILE SHIFTING BETWEEN 30-60MPH, ROUGHLY 2ND-3RD, OR 3RD-4TH GEAR. VEHICLE WOULD GO INTO A HIGH REV AND NOT MOVE. AFTER LETTING OFF GAS, YOU HAVE TO WAIT 5 SECONDS FOR IT TO "RE-ENGAGE", THEN SOMETIMES IN A HIGH GEAR AT LOW SPEEDS CAUSING VEHICLE TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. TRANSMISSION SLIPS IN AND OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THESE ARE VERY HARD GEAR SHIFTS AND THE ENTIRE CAR SHAKES. SOMETIMES IT WON'T GO INTO ANY GEAR AT ALL, INCLUDING REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SHOP FOR A SECOND OPINION WHERE THEY STATED THE SAME DIAGNOSIS AS MENTIONED BY THE DEALER. 2006 FORD FUSION, WITH 65000 MILES, TRANSMISSION GETTING STUCK BETWEEN SECOND AND THIRD GEAR. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS STUCK, THE CAR WILL REV TO 5-6K RPMS AND DROP SEVERELY IN SPEED. WHEN MOVING FROM A STOP POSITION THE CARE THEN TAKES ABOUT 40-60 SECONDS TO GET UP TO 25MPH (BECAUSE IT IS STILL IN SECOND OR THIRD GEAR). THIS OCCURRED WITH ME ENTERING AN ON RAMP TO A FREEWAY AND DRIVING FROM A STOP LIGHT IN A BUSY BUSINESS DISTRICT. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED AND SERVICED SINCE PURCHASE 12/31/2005. AFTER THE FIRST DAY IN THE SHOP THE DEALER TOLD ME THE TRANSMISSION IS BEYOND REPAIR AND I NEED A NEW (REBUILT) FORD TRANSMISSION. THEY WANTED $80 FREIGHT FOR DELIVERY OF TRANSMISSION AND APPROX. $4500 FRO THE TRANSMISSION AND INSTALLATION. WHEN I BOUGHT OUT MY LEASE LAST YEAR I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON MY CAR (THE ORIGINAL ENDED AT 36000 MILES). IT HAS NOW BEEN FIVE DAYS WITH MANY PHONE CALLS, A RENTAL CAR (ONLY COVERED FIVE DAYS UNDER MY WARRANTY), AND A VISIT FROM A PRIVATE INSPECTOR/ADJUSTER. THE WARRANTY COMPANY IS STILL "REVIEW THE CLAIM" AND HAS NOT YET AUTHORIZED THE REPAIR. WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION FROM THE WARRANTY CO I CAN NOT BEGIN REPAIRS. I HAVE A 2006 FORD FUSION THAT HAS DEVELOPED A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS A VALVE BODY DEFECT WITH A SERVICE BULLETIN DATING BACK TO 2001. I FIRST CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM IN DECEMBER 2008, BUT THE TRANSMISSION DEPARTMENT WAS CLOSED (ON A SATURDAY). MY MILEAGE AT THAT TIME WAS 35129 (WELL WITHIN WARRANTY PERIOD). I WASN'T ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK UNTIL SEPT. OF '09 FOR EVALUATION, AND THEY JUST DID A SOFTWARE UPGRADE. BACK AGAIN WITH SAME PROBLEM IN NOV. '09 WHEN THEY INDICATED THE VALVE BODY FROM TSB DATED 08/24/01. IT HAS NEARLY CAUSED ME TO HAVE SEVERAL ACCIDENTS BECAUSE AT RANDOM TIMES, THE TRANSMISSION POPS INTO NEUTRAL WHETHER ON THE HIGHWAY, TURNING A CORNER, OR ACCELERATING - THEN POPS BACK INTO GEAR, CAUSING THE CAR TO BUCK VIOLENTLY. CARS BEHIND ME HAVE NEARLY RAMMED INTO MY CAR BECAUSE OF THIS SUDDEN FAILURE OF MY TRANSMISSION. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AND CORRECTED BY FORD CORPORATE. IF THE CAR WAS PARKED ON A SLOPE AND THE SHIFTER DID NOT FULLY ENGAGE IN PARK IT IS POSSIBLE THAT IT COULD POP INTO NEUTRAL AND ROLL AWAY.
