"TAKATA RECALL"MY CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A FENDER BENDER WITH THE AIR BAG NOT DEPLOYING, PRIOR TO THAT THE CHECK AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINED ON. THE MARLOW AUTO BODY COLLISION CENTER LOCATED IN OXON HILL MARYLAND DID TRY TO LOOK AT IT AS TO WHY I DID NOT TURN OFF, THEY EVEN REPLACED THE FUSE, HOWEVER I RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL INFORMING ME THERE WAS A RECALL. I HAVE CONTACTED AND TRIED TO BRING THE VEHICLE INTO FORD LOCATED IN CAMP SPRINGS MARYLAND ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY STATED THEY NEVER RECEIVED THE PART AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO ACCOMMODATE MY REPAIR. I HAVE SINCE WENT BACK TO MARLOW AUTO BODY THIS YEAR 2018 FOR HELP BUT THEY STATED I SHOULD CONTACT THE NHTS TO COMPLAIN.

DOOR HANDLES AND LOCKS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. PASSENGER FRONT DOOR HANDLE (AND SOMETIMES THE DRIVER DOOR) DOES NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE, POSING A SAFETY CONCERN. IF CAR WAS TO CATCH ON FIRE, PASSENGER WOULD HAVE TO ROLL DOWN WINDOW TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. ALSO SOME DOORS LOCK AND SOME DO NOT. NOT A SAFTEY CONCERN, BUT CERTAINLY AN ISSUE. MY SON HAD A 2006 FORD FUSION THAT DID THE SAME EXACT THING AS I NOTED ABOVE, THEREFORE, IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE FORD FUSIONS.

THE DASHBOARD AROUND AIRBAG PORTION HAS COME APART AND IS RISING UP ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE DASHBOARD. PASSENGERS' SIDE THE SEAT BELT LIGHT AND SEAT BELT BUZZER GOES OFF. HAVE NOTIFIED FORD. NO COMPENSATION. DO NOT HAVE PICTURES AVAILABLE, BUT IF NEEDED WILL EMAIL THEM ASAP. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WERE TOXIC GASES LEAKING FROM THE AIRBAG COMPARTMENT WHICH TAMPERED WITH THE ADHESIVE ON THE DASHBOARD. THE DASHBOARD BEGAN TO BUBBLE UP AROUND THE COMPARTMENT. THE SEATBELTS WOULD NOT RELEASE. THE CONSUMER'S GRANDCHILD HAD TO WRIGGLE OUT FROM UNDER THE SEAT BELT. THE SEATBELT HAD TO BE UNSCREWED FROM THE FLOOR TO RELEASE THE PRESSURE ON IT. THE INTERIOR DASHBOARD LIGHT, RADIO, CLOCK, MILEAGE, AND CD PLAYER WOULD NOT OPERATE. THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE DRIVER'S SEAT SEAMS BEGAN SEPARATING, THE BRAKES STICK, THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES BROKE OFF, THE REARVIEW FELL OFF WHILE DRIVING, AND THE TIRES HAD A CONSTANT LEAK. *JS

BRAKES - ON MANY OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND CITY STREET I FIND I HAVE TO PRESS THE BRAKE ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR FOR THE CAR TO FULLY STOP AND I HAVE BEEN IN MANY CLOSE CALL FENDER BENDERS. ELECTRICAL - THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL STOPPED WORKING IN ROUTE TO WORK ,SO I ASSUMED THE BULB BLEW OUT. HOWEVER, WHEN DRIVING THE CAR AGAIN THE TURN SIGNAL STARTED WORKING AGAIN. FOR THE TWO WEEKS THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL WORKED INTERMITTENTLY WHICH MADE ME VERY NERVOUS WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS. AS OF NOW THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL IS WORKING AGAIN WITH NO INTERMITTENCE AND I DON'T KNOW IF/WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL OR SOMETHING ELSE WILL STOP WORKING OUT OF THE BLUE OR WHY THIS HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE. TRUNK LEAKAGE - THE TIRE WELL IN THE TRUNK AS WELL AS THE SPARE TIRE AREA WAS FULL OF WATER AND NOT SURE WHERE THE LEAKAGE IS COMING FROM. I HAVE HAD THE CAR 9 YEARS AND DON'T RECALL WATER IN THAT AREA. AT THIS POINT I DON'T PLACE ITEMS IN THE TRUNK FOR FEAR OF IT GETTING WET ON A HEAVY RAIN DAYS HERE IN FLORIDA. VENTS - I HAD TO REMOVE THE DEFROST VENT ABOVE THE DASHBOARD BECAUSE THE LINING THAT HOLDS IT IN PLACE IS BENT AND WARPED A/C - CONTINUES TO MALFUNCTION, I HAVE HAD THE AIR SERVICED MULTIPLE TIMES AND WHEN WORKING IT'S GREAT BUT THEN THE AIR BECOMES LESS COOL AND GOES COMPLETELY HOT. THIS IS TORTURE DURING THE SUMMER.

TAKATA RECALL: I PURCHASED MY FORD FUSION IN 2007 AND I RECEIVED AWESOME COMMENTS; THIS WAS THE RATINGS FROM MY OLDER FAMILY MEMBERS, BRAGGING ABOUT MY CAR; AS BEING "TOP OF THE LINE VEHICLE" SOUNDED GREAT! WITHIN MY FIRST YEAR, ON A SATURDAY MY CAR WOULD NOT START, BEFORE GOING TO WORK, IT WAS CORROSION ON MY BATTERY POST. THE FOLLOWING MONDAY, I CONTACTED HIXON FORD SERVICE DEPT. IN MONROE, LA; TOLD THEM OF MY EXPERIENCE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY PROBLEMS. I WAS GIVEN A FREE BATTERY, WITHOUT ANYONE LOOKING INTO WHY THE CAR WOULDN'T START OR CORROSION ON THE BATTERY. I DIDN'T THINK I WOULD HAVE BEEN TREATED IN THAT MANNER THROUGHOUT THE TIME I HAVE MY CAR. SINCE THEN, SEVERAL OTHER PROBLEMS, SUCH AS THE RUBBER AROUND THE DASH VENT, WHERE THE DEFROST AIR COMES OUT, LIFTED UP OUT OF PLACE. ONE DAY THE 6-CD CHANGER WOULD NOT RELEASE MY CDS'; BUT MONTHS LATER AFTER PRESSING THE BUTTON EVERYDAY, I PRESSED THE REJECT AND THEY ALL CAME OUT. ANOTHER EXPERIENCE WAS WHEN THE TWO FRONT DOOR LATCHES JUST POPPED OUT; AT A LATER TIME, THE TWO BACK LATCHES POPPED OUT. SINCE I COULD ONLY AFFORD TO GET THE DRIVER DOOR LATCH REPAIRED, I WOULD STILL LOCK MY CAR DOOR, BUT THEY DO NOT LOCK. ANOTHER INCIDENT HAPPENED WHEN I TRIED TO SLOW DOWN, BECAUSE OF THE BUMPY ROAD AND MY CAR FELT LIKE IT HYDROPLANED; I COULDN'T STOP (SCAAARRRYY!). AFTER EACH INCIDENT, I WOULD CALL HIXON FORD AND ASK FOR RECALL STATUS, CONCERNING MY INCIDENTS. THEY WOULD ALWAYS TELL ME, THEY HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING, BUT WHEN I CALLED THE MAIN OFFICE, I WAS TOLD THAT NOTHING HAD BEEN REPORTED. I NEVER FELT THEY CARED WHAT HAPPENED TO ME, BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T LOOK INTO THE FIRST INCIDENT, BUT YEARS LATER, I RECEIVED AN APOLOGY; GIVE THEM ANOTHER CHANCE WITH MY NEXT PURCHASE AND THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING NOW. WELL, THEY NEVER DID ANYTHING AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY SURPRISED IF THEY DID.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE AT A REDUCED SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION AND POWER CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PCM, THE SPARK PLUGS, AND THE COILS HAD ALL MELTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.

DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 75 MY CAR MADE A POPPING NOISE AND LOST POWER, WAS IN LIMP MODE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, HAD CAR DIAGNOSED AND FOUND TO HAVE BUSTED IGNITION COILS AND BAD ECM, REPLACED THOSE, LESS THAN A WEEK LATER DRIVING TO WORK AGAIN AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, IT COMES AND GOES BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THE CAR LOSES ALL POWER UNTIL SHUT OFF, AM TOLD IT IS A THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. THE CAR HAS JUST OVER 73,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE ANY MORE DUE TO THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER ON HIGHWAY WITH NO WAY OF KNOWING WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN.

PCM FAILED ON A 2007 FORD FUSION SE V6 WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS RESULTED IN NEAR-IMMEDIATE ELECTRICAL FAILURE, STALLING THE CAR AFTER APP. 30 SECONDS. USER FORUMS ONLINE SEEM TO INDICATE THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH 2007 FUSIONS, POSSIBLY STEMMING FROM ECU FAILURE (ALTHOUGH OPINIONS ARE UNDECIDED ON WHETHER A FEEDBACK ISSUE CAUSES THE ECU TO FAIL, OR THE ECU FAILS AND CAUSES FEEDBACK). DAMAGE TO THE CAR INCLUDED FRYING ALL SIX SPARK PLUGS, AND SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO ALL SIX IGNITION COILS WHICH NECESSITATED REPLACEMENT, AS WELL AS NECESSITATING REPLACEMENT OF PCM UNIT. FORD ALSO DRAWS A DISTINCTION BETWEEN THE WARRANTY ON THE ECU (8 YEARS / 80,000 MILES) AND THE WARRANTY ON THE PCM (3 YEARS / 36,000 MILES) WHEN ASSESSING THE DAMAGE - SINCE THIS FAILURE COMMONLY RESULTS IN DAMAGE TO THE PCM, THEY ALMOST ALWAYS SEEM TO ELECT TO CONSIDER ONLY THE PCM WARRANTY. TOTAL COST TO DRIVER: APP. $2,000 PLUS LABOR.

HAD TOWED TO A LOCAL TRUSTED MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE A SPECIFIC PROBLEM BECAUSE THE HE WAS GETTING "CRAZY PROBLEM CODES". VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A FORD DEALER WHO DISCOVERED THE COILS WERE DESTROYED DUE TO A PCM FAILURE. COILS AND PCM REPLACED AT THE COST OF $2,200. DRIVING HOME AFTER VEHICLE WAS "REPAIRED" CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP, DIAGNOSED A CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE. CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED DUE TO THE PCM/COIL FAILURE. VEHICLE WILL NOT PASS EMISSIONS INSPECTION UNTIL CONVERTER IS REPAIRED/REPLACED AT AN ADDITIONAL COST OF $2,000+. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT NOTHING COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO PREVENT THE PCM/COIL FAILED, IT "JUST HAPPENED". ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC, THE DIAGNOSTIC SHOWED ONE OF THE COIL PACKS MALFUNCTIONED.. UPON REPLACEMENT, THE COIL PACK OVERHEATED AND BLEW AGAIN. FINDING IT ODD, THE MECHANIC CONTACTED FORD. WORKING WITH THE FORD TECHNICIAN, A BULLETIN WAS FOUND STATING THE CAR HAD A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE PCM, THE COMPUTER MODULE FOR THE VEHICLE. FORD TOLD THE MECHANIC, THE PART WOULD BE THERE IN 2 WEEKS. 2 WEEKS WENT BY AND ON CHRISTMAS EVE, OUR MECHANIC WAS TOLD THERE IS A NATIONAL BACK ORDER ON THE PART AND IT WOULD BE 2 TO 4 MORE WEEKS. ALSO, THE REPAIR WOULD COST IN THE VICINITY OF 1700.00 DOLLARS. IT IS NOW 1/12/14 AND WE STILL HAVE NO CAR AND NO WORD ON WHEN IT WILL BE FIXED. I HAVE OWNED MY FORD FUSION SEL V6 SINCE JUNE OF 2009. IN MAY OF 2011 MY AC WENT OUT WITHIN MINUTES OF BEING USED. THE SECOND ISSUE OCCURRED 11/10/12 WHICH WAS THE DRIVER'S DOOR LOCK WOULD NOT DISENGAGE (MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 73,350). I WAS PARKED TO GET OUT TO GAS UP MY CAR AND PULLED ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR HANDLE TO UNLOCKED THE CAR, IT WOULDN'T OPEN. THEN I PUSHED THE "UNLOCK" BUTTON OF THE DOOR AND THE DRIVER'S DOOR STILL WOULD NOT OPEN. I ENDED UP CRAWLING OVER TO THE PASSENGER'S DOOR TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. I ATTEMPTED TO ENTER THE CAR USING THE DOOR KEY AND IT DID NOT DISENGAGE THE LOCK. I AM TAKING THE VEHICLE INTO THE FORD DEALER ON MONDAY 11/11/12 TO HAVE THESE PROBLEMS RESOLVED. THE DASH PANEL ON MY 2007 FUSION SUDDENLY LIT UP - OIL LIGHT, AIR BAG LIGHT, ETC. - AND AFTER STOPPING THE CAR IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. THE BATTERY CABLES (ESPECIALLY THE POSITIVE ONE) WERE HIGHLY CORRODED. AFTER REMOVING THE CORROSION AND REPLACING THE BATTERY IT STARTED. FIVE WEEKS LATER IT FAILED TO START AGAIN. BOTH TIMES THE RADIO AND LIGHTS WORKED BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT START. I TRIED JUMPING IT OFF, BUT IT DID NOT EVEN TRY TO TURN OVER. HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE BATTERY CABLES AND 20 FEET OF CABLE WIRE WERE COMPLETELY CORRODED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAS FEWER THAN 48,000 MILES ON IT. I DO NOT LIVE IN A HIGH SALT AREA EITHER. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY EITHER. I BELIEVE THAT SUBSTANDARD EQUIPMENT WAS USED AND THAT THERE SHOULD BE A NOTICE SENT OUT TO OTHER FUSION OWNERS TO TAKE ANY PRECAUTIONARY STEPS TO AVOID THIS ' IF THERE ARE ANY. THE 2007 FORD FUSION DEVELOPED ERRATIC ELECTRICAL POWER AND STARTING FAILURE. DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT THE BATTERY CABLES HAD ESSENTIALLY DISINTEGRATED FROM BATTERY POSTS ALONG CONSIDERABLE LENGTH OF THE CABLES, ALSO DESTROYING THE BATTERY WITH EXCESSIVE CORROSION AND SPLITTING THE PLASTIC CABLE SHEATHS. VEHICLE WAS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD BUT HAD 42,000 MI. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH IMMEDIATELY FOUND 3 OTHER 2006-2007 FUSIONS WITH SAME OCCURRENCE, ALL JUST SLIGHTLY OVER THE 36,000MI WARRANTY AND NOT COVERED. FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A TSB, HAS NOT VOLUNTEERED TO COVER ANY OF THE $428 COST. THIS IS A CLEAR QUALITY CONTROL PRODUCT FAILURE, UNACCEPTABLE ON ANY 2-YR-OLD VEHICLE, AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A FIRE OR STRANDING SITUATION. *TR
