am filing this complaint regarding a serious safety defect in my 2011 Ford Fusion. The vehicle’s electric power steering (EPAS) intermittently fails while driving, causing the steering to become extremely heavy and sometimes lock up. The dashboard displays a “Power Steering Assist Fault” warning. Restarting the car temporarily restores steering assist, but the problem recurs. This is a direct safety hazard. Driving the vehicle in this condition is dangerous, as the steering can fail at any time, including at highway speeds. They say The vehicle was previously repaired under recall but the issue has recurred. I have contacted Ford Customer Service and a Ford Safety Supervisor multiple times, and they refused to perform any further repair, citing that the recall occurred over 10 years ago and my VIN may not be in the current “recall bin.” I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate this issue and require Ford to repair the electric power steering under a recall reoccurrence / safety escalation program, at no cost to me. This is a critical safety issue, and the current refusal by Ford puts me at risk of serious injury or death while driving.

My driver heating element in my seat stopped working. I went to get it fixed and that’s when they noticed the charred heating pad in the seat had burnet makers on it. I have picture showing that the electrical part in the heating pad indicator has black marks around the wires and burnt through the pad and the electrical coils. The seat under the leather part had damage to it. This would have caused a fire. I’m very lucky. I bought the part on [XXX]. I just want to be reimburse from Ford Dealership the part cost. The Power Steering failed on a 2011 ford fusion se. The recall supposedly ended after 150k miles and I’m 150 miles over and they refused to do it which is shady. Never had a issue until I passed the certain mileage.

As stated in a previous complaint vehicle has what one professional mechanic diagnosed as an "electrical fathom draw" which drains the battery. The issue with the vehicle started on July 1st which the timing seems ironic since it was the first day of the month. I have taken the vehicle to several qualified mechanics who could not diagnose what was draining the battery. Purchased a new battery and still having the same issue. Each time I had roadside assistance jumpstart the battery they stated it was not the altenator or the starter. No codes to perform a diagnostic like "check engine" light or other warning signs.

The steering wheel becomes stiff and won’t move.. I can not turn it at all if I’m driving.. which can cause me to have an accident because I can’t even turn the wheel. Also I called Ford here in Mississippi and they said my particular VIN was not in the recall for power steering problems but it was in the years that were recalled. My teenager drives this car and that’s how we found out, she called me panicking and that could have ended very badly.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that the vehicle had failed to start. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics to be diagnosed. The contact stated that a mechanic replaced the starter; however, the failure persisted. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000. The VIN was not available.

The "Power Steering Assist Fault" light came on when the car was started and the steering wheel was very heavy and hard to move. Simultaneously, the "Service AdvanceTrac" light also came on. The vehicle was later scanned and an internal component failure code "U-3000:04-68" was identified for the Power Steering Motor. This is an internal system failure. The safety risk was to the driver along with other drivers on the road due to the vehicle being harder to control. The failure happened during a 600 mile drive and the vehicle was driven home carefully as no other arrangements could be made. Driver sustained wrist injury and pain at the carpals from increased effort needed to manually steer vehicle. The "Power Steering Assist Fault" had previously appeared for a couple seconds upon vehicle start up but had not previously disabled the power steering. It had been originally reprogrammed with the recall in 2016 but the recall re-programming proved ineffective.

Within one week, my power steering fault came on twice, luckily driving at 5-10mph. But still scary at 10mph. Scary to imagine any faster. It locks up randomly out of no where in the neighborhood. Nothing touched before hand, no indication it was going to lock up, no warning. It locks up and cannot move the wheel so I have put it in park and turned off engine and restart it to move the steering wheel again. On the dash it will say ‘Power Steering Fault’. This is my vehicle I rely on for work and commute for myself and my child. No other vehicle possible for backup. This is dangerous and will not risk driving the vehicle, and at dead end with work and transportation on a busy schedule. I was lucky it did not happen in an intersection or crowded street or freeway and more lucky that my child was with me on one of the two times it happened driving 5mph and not 10mph. Cannot imagine it happen with other vehicles around.

While driving on a major highway during rush hour, at the posted speed limit (65MPH) , without any warning the vehicle completely lost any and all braking capability without any prior warning or indication of an issue later on after managing to avoid any type of accident or collision with anything around. I turned the car off, when turning the car back on then and only then I received a dashboard full of lights most important being “service advancetrac” and (!) BRAKE, “Check break system”. By reading many other forums with the same car and the exact issues and notifications it says that there is a glitch in the ABS module with communicates with the hydraulic control unit which caused complete and catastrophic brake failure. Which could have resulted in a major accident, risking my life, the occupants of my vehicle, and any other vehicle around. Lucky I was able to maneuver my way off to the side of the highway, and slowly make my vehicle come to a stop, then putting it in park, which would be the only way to stop the vehicle from moving or rolling back or forward. I believe this is a very serious issue that must be addressed. The car is now being diagnosed at a Ford Dealer at a cost of $200 and probably a repair cost of over $2600 according to others. I’am still waiting after spending $1000 on a car rental to make it to work so I would not risk my job. This is all more money then I even make, these companies need to be held accountable for putting the lives of me and my family and all the other people and families on the road that day. Thank god this did not end differently. The website is not allowing me to upload any photos of the light that appeared on the dashboard only after the incident occurred! I would have liked for people to see incase they experience this same issue

I was driving on the highway and my power steering suddenly went out on me in the middle of traffic. My 2011 Ford Fusion SE had a "Power Steering Assist Fault" on my dash and it stopped working, it only had 117k miles on it. I then took it to the dealership to get it diagnosed and they said it was the Rack and Pinion that needed to be replaced. They told me that its a known problem, and for this generation of Fusion there was an extended warranty for this problem, but only 10 year/150k miles, whichever comes first and my car(12 years old) is now too old to get it replaced at no charge. Said that Ford around 2011 was introducing electric power steering for the first time. The Ford Dealership then wanted me to pay out something like $2300 to have them replace the parts needed. This was so incredibly dangerous to have this suddenly happen, I almost wrecked trying to get off the highway during rush hour. I have no clue why Ford would make a car and not make it a mandatory recall to replace parts for the electronic steering. After Googling my issue, I found many others having this same problem and getting screwed over by Ford. Please don't keep letting them get away with this. I just want to feel safe on the road in my car.

on November 28, 2023, I was driving about 30 mph when my power steering completely went out. Two warnings popped up stating “service power steering now” and “service advancetrac”. The two icons with what looks like tires sliding / tcs indicator are also present. I did nothing out of the ordinary and typical driving. I wasn’t on icy roads or speeding. I didn’t hit my brakes in any manner that would trigger a mishap with sliding. But this is scary to have happened and now because it’s winter in Idaho, it will be absolutely unsafe for me to operate this vehicle. This needs to be taken care of.

June2 2023 my car the power steering quit no longer able to steer the car. No longer able to drive the car 2011 ford fusion. i noticed there were recalls on steering and electrical my is electrical power steering (no pump). i need to know if i qualify to have it fixed i have reported this to everyone in ford i know to ask. i need my car. my husband was driving when it happen he made it home safe thankful.

It started in February 2023 no warning lights nothing just when I came to a stop at a red light the car dies it will start right back most of the time but other times when you start it back it's like the starter stays engaged and makes a struttering sound and whole car shakes and you have to hurry and shut it back off and restart it again the longer you drive the car the more it dies when you come to a stop other times it may not do it for days I've almost been in 7 accidents that I've counted bc of this issue bc it dies and ppl think I should be moving and I can't or I just turn at a light and it will die and I can go until I restart it I also think it cause my battery to go out bc I had to replace it not long after this started. It's not been reported to anyone but you or inspected but is available to be anytime. Components affected ( DOOR HANDLE INSIDE PASSANGER SIDE)My 2nd issue is with my passenger side door handle without warning it just stopped working and now you have to roll window down to open from outside my safety could be at risk bc I wouldn't be able to get out of car if there was a crash. It's not been reported, inspected by anyone but is available anytime to be.

The power steering has failed intermittently (at least 5 separate occasions) while driving. The failure was inconsistent between times driven and parked. First time noticed, turned vehicle on and could barely move the wheel. Turned vehicle off and back on and didn't have an issue with the steering wheel or on the road and got home okay. The issue started out this way and then once it was consistent it was unable to operate the vehicle safely. This vehicle is our main vehicle so it happened to myself and to my husband while on his way home from work. However, when the power steering failed was extremely difficult to turn the wheel while driving. We took into dealership and the diagnostics was the electrical power steering is faulty and the traction control has failed. After looking into the issue - we believe our 2011 Ford Fusion may have been one of the recalls that should have been included for the power steering failure recall that was sent to other 2011 Ford Fusions. We did not receive a notification, however after viewing online - Ford recalled 445K vehicles with the same exact issue.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH with the air conditioning activated, there was a burning odor inside the vehicle. The contact reached under the glove box and discovered that the heat sink and wiring harness connecting the fan was extremely hot to the touch. The contact indicated that no flames were present but the wires were visibly charred and burnt. The contact stated that the heat sink and wiring harness connection to the fan had been replaced on multiple occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.

Advance Trac light abs traction control light came on next thing I know car goes out of control and now my car is totaled total loss smashed right into side of the road brakes failed steering failed and all this popped up moments before and then q truck ran into me my mom went to hospital but is ok I'm fine

Advancetrac light started turning on, then about the 3rd time the light flashed electric brakes went away and was left with extremely hard to press hydraulic brakes. Just to SCAN the car ford wants $200 because they have a proprietary system...

On 12/13/21, my son swerved out of an accident and hit a high curb which damaged the driver's side tire. Luckily the Air Bag did not discharge. Recall 21S12 Driver Air Bag Inflator Replacement was issued in March of 2021, yet I did not receive a letter, and my car still has not been repaired. Are you waiting for a fatality to occur before providing the dealers with the necessary supplies?

AT 138825 MILES, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO HAVE A MISFIRE ON CYLINDER #4, WHICH WAS INITIALLY A VACUUM HOSE LEAK. THEN, THE CAR STARTS HAVING AN “EARTHQUAKE” WHENEVER THE CAR IS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. THE CAUSE WOULD THEN BE AN EGR MALFUNCTION. AS TIME WENT BY, THE MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 4 SHOWS UP AGAIN. TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP TO HAVE THE ISSUE LOOKED AT, FOUND TO BE A CROSS THREADED SPARK PLUG, AND THEY RECOMMENDED THE CYLINDER HEAD BE REPLACED, THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY REPLACED, THE COOLANT BEING REPLACED, AND THE AC BEING RECHARGED. REPAIR WOULD’VE COST $10,500.

AFTER HAVING THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL TAKEN CARE OF BY FRANKLIN FORD LINCOLN THE ENGINE OIL LIGHT WAS ON AND THE BATTERY KEPT DRAINING AND HAD TO BE REPLACED TODAY. FORD CLAIMS THAT THEY DID NOTHING INCORRECT IN THE RECALL BUT PRIOR TO TAKING MY CAR TO FORD THE BATTERY AND 02 SENSOR WERE IN FINE WORKING ORDER. AFTER THE RECALL THEY WERE NOT. AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY TODAY THE CAR STILL HESITATES TO START AND THE AC SYSTEM KEEPS MAKING A CLICKING NOISE. THIS WAS NOT HAPPENING BEFORE THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED. I DON'T THINK THAT MY CAR WILL EVER BE THE SAME AND IT IS ALL DUE TO FORD LINCOLN OF FRANKLIN REPLACING THE AIRBAGS.

MULTIPLE TIMES NOW THIS HAS HAPPENED... I'LL GIVE YOU THE MOST NERVE WRACKING EXPERIENCE, WHERE I HONESTLY WAS SCARED FOR MY LIFE. IT WAS 10:30PM, I WAS DRIVING OUT OF TOWN ON MY WAY BACK HOME FROM A FRIENDS, ON A TINY 2 LANE ROAD GOING 55, ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL OF MY POWER CUT OUT! NO RADIO, HEADLIGHTS, HAZARD LIGHTS WOULDN'T EVEN WORK!!! I HAD TO SLOW DOWN IN THE PITCH BLACK DARKNESS, HOPING TO GOD THERE WASN'T ANY DEER. ON TOP OF THAT... JUST WAITING FOR ANOTHER CAR TO TURN DOWN THE ROAD I WAS ON, BARRELING AT ME AT 55MPH. I WAS TERRIFIED! MY BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR ARE FINE. THE ELECTRIC FINALLY CAME BACK ON AFTER A FEW MINUTES... BUT THIS COULD HAVE HAD A VERY DIFFERENT ENDING.

FAILURE OF THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSY. T\INTERNAL FAULT CODE P2112 CAUSED THE POWER ON CAR TO GO TO LIMP MODE. THIS CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE ITEM HAS BEEN FLAGGED IN FEBRUARY 21, 2013 NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE13003ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE13003 FORD HAS FAILED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE ON MY VEHICLE. THIS OCCURRED 17 AUG 2020. THE VEHICLE WAS AT 152,000 MILES AND HAD BEEN SERVICED REGULAR BY FORD SINCE PURCHASE IN 2011. THIS ISSUE SHOULD HAVE NEVER OCCURRED. I HAD STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND MADE A RIGHT TURN ON TO EXPRESSWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. WITH NO ACCELERATION THIS BECAME A DANGEROUS SITUATION VERY QUICKLY. I EXPECTED TO ACCELERATE TO 45MPH BUT COULD BARLEY CREEP TO 20 MPH MAX.

FOR THE LAST YEAR EXPERIENCING PROGRESSIVELY WORSENING DRIVABILITY ISSUES. THE MOST CONCERNING IS STEADILY INCREASING THROTTLE LAG (TIME BETWEEN APPLYING MORE PRESSURE TO ACCELERATOR AND VEHICLE RESPONDING), WHICH I VIEW AS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND APPROPRIATELY WHEN APPLYING THROTTLE, WHICH MAY INCREASE RISK OF ACCIDENT B/C VEHICLE MAY NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY WHEN NEEDED EITHER PLACING ME AT RISK BECAUSE IT LEAVES ME IN THE PATH OF ANOTHER VEHICLE OR PREVENTS MY VEHICLE FROM EXPEDITIOUSLY RESPONDING TO AVOID ANOTHER VEHICLE.. SECONDARILY VEHICLE NOW OPERATING ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY IN GAS POWER MODE (WORSENING MPG EFFICIENCY) BUT ALSO CAUSING JERKING/HESITATION WHEN TRANSITIONING BETWEEN GAS/EV MODES. THIS POWERTRAIN WAS NOT DESIGNED TO WORK IN GAS ONLY BUT AS A PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN GAS/EV, THEREFORE IN GAS ALONE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS MANY OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCE SAME PROBLEM. TO DEALER SERVICE X 3 - 1ST 2 DEALER SAID NOTHING WRONG. FINALLY GIVEN A FORD SERVICE BULLETIN (ATTACHED) THAT FORD IS AWARE FOR AT LEAST 4 MONTHS AND FORBIDS SERVICE TO THE CAR! THUS I HAVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT FORD HAS NO SOLUTION FOR REPAIR FOR AT LEAST 4 MONTHS, AND NO INDICATION OF WHEN THIS WILL BE ADDRESSED.

I BEGAN GETTING POWER STEERING FAILURE ERROR MESSAGES ABOUT A YEAR AGO ON MY 2011 FORD FUSION. THEY WOULD ONLY OCCUR WHEN I STARTED MY CAR, BUT I WOULD CUT THE ENGINE OFF AND OPEN THE DOOR AND THE ERROR WOULD GO AWAY. A WEEK AGO, THE ERROR CAME ON AND HAS STAYED. I HAVE NO POWER STEERING AND FORD IS TELLING ME MY VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER RECALL BASED ON THE VIN. IT WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $2,000 TO REPAIR. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ON 2011 FORD FUSIONS, BUT MY CAR DOESN'T QUALIFY. HOW CAN FORD REFUSE TO REPAIR A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE WHEN THEY KNOW THIS IS A PROBLEM THEY CREATED WHEN MANUFACTURING THIS VEHICLE. IF I HAVE TO BUY A NEW CAR, IT WON'T BE WITH FORD WHICH IS FRUSTRATING BECAUSE I LOVE MY CAR.

ONE NIGHT I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY TO RUN SOME ERRANDS. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION APPROXIMATELY 30 TO 35 MILES PER HOUR IN A MAIN STREET WHEN I SUDDENLY HEAR A SOUND COMING FROM MY VEHICLE ALERTING ME THAT THE WRENCH LIGHT DETECTED A MALFUNCTION. AT THE MOMENT I WAS ALERT AND VIEWING MY DASH REGARDING THE ILLUMINATION IT THREW UNTIL I SUDDENLY FELT MY STEERING GEAR BECOME REALLY STIFF AND PULLING ME TO THE SIDE NEAR THE CURB REALLY FAST. I HAD LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE TO STEER THAT RESULTED IN MY VEHICLE JUMPING UP THE CURB AND COLLIDING WITH A LIGHT POLE DAMAGING THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY FRONT BUMPER AND PASSENGER FRONT AND REAR DOOR. THE MAJORITY OF THE DAMAGE HAPPEN TO MY VEHICLE WHICH LEFT SCRATCHES, DENTS, AND PAINT AND BODY DAMAGE TO PRETTY MUCH THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. THE LIGHT POLE CONSIDERING THE IMPACT FROM JUMPING UP THE CURB ASSISTED IN NOT CAUSING ANY STREET DAMAGE TOWARD THE STREET LIGHT. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT IMMEDIATELY TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO FILE A CLAIM. EVENTUALLY I WAS INFORMED BY A FEW OF MY COWORKERS THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED ABOUT THE STEERING GEAR ON THE 2011 FORD FUSIONS. I TOOK IT TO MY FORD DEALER IN WHICH WAS A REALLY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE SINCE THEY AUTOMATICALLY CLOSED THERE DOOR IN MY FACE WHEN I INFORMED THEM ABOUT THE STEERING GEAR ISSUE AND RECALL. THERE EXCUSE WAS MY VIN DID NOT MATCH THE RECALL ISSUED SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. FORD THEN QUOTED ME OVER $2000 FOR PARTS AND LABOR AND PROGRAMMING. I WAS SO PISSED AND LEFT EMPTY HANDED SINCE DOWN THE ROAD I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO PURCHASE THE STEERING GEAR AND YET TO STILL SELL ME A DEFECTIVE ONE THAT I HAD AN OUTSIDE SHOP PERFORM THE WORK TWICE. AFTER MY REPAIRS I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER FOR A REIMBURSEMENT IN WHICH TILL THIS DAY, THEY DO NOT WANT TO ISSUE ME ONE.

I PULLED IN MY DRIVEWAY, PARKED 2011 FORD FUSION AND THEN SHUT VEHICLE OFF. I RETURNED, STARTED VEHICLE, WENT TO START DRIVING MY VEHICLE OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND THE CAR STARTED BEEPING AND LISTED THAT THE POWER STEERING DID NOT WORK. I LOOKED IT UP ONLINE AND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR STEERING: ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM FAILURE (15V340000 OR 15S18). I TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND WILL ATTACH QUOTE WHICH THEIR RECOMMENDATION IS EXACTLY WHAT FORD'S RECOMMENDATION WAS. HOWEVER MY CAR DOESN'T FALL INTO THE CORRECT DATE FOR THIS RECALL, I AM HAPPY THAT I WAS NOT DRIVING 75MPH DOWN INSTERSTATE 70 IN WHEELING, WV OR DRIVING UP TO WEST LIBERTY, WV WHERE I WORK. EITHER COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT FOR ME, MY KIDS AND POTENTIALLY OTHER VEHICLES INVOLVED. THE CAR HAS ONLY 73,000 MILES ON IT ROUGHLY AND IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.

I TOOK MY 2011 FORD FUSION TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN HARLINGEN TX. THEY VERIFIED THE VEHICLE WAS UP FOR RECALL SINCE IT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MECHANICS TOOK THE CAR IN AND REPAIRED THE CAR AFTER 7 DAYS OF DROPPING IT OFF. ON DAY 7 THEY CALLED ME THAT IT NEEDED A TIE ROD WHICH I PURCHASED AND DELIVERED FIRST HAND. 2 HOURS LATER THEY CALLED ME THAT I HAD TO PAY $1,300 BECAUSE THE CAR WAS NOT UP FOR RECALL AND THAT IF I DIDN'T PAY THEY WOULD BE PUTTING MY BROKEN PART BACK ON AND RELEASING THE CAR TO ME. I WENT ON TO COMPLAIN TO THE MANAGER AND THEY MANAGED TO TAKE $500 OUT FOR THE REPAIRS THEY HAVE DONE THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO BE UP FOR RECALL. I WAITED 7 DAYS TO FIND OUT I WAS BEING CHARGED FOR A SERVICE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FREE. RECALL NUMBER 15NO1 AND 15NO2. I HAVE RECITE AND VIDEO OF THE CONFRONTATION. I HAD ALREADY WRECKED THE CAR DUE TO THE STEERING ISSUES. I ALSO REPAIRED THE DAMAGED AFTER THE ACCIDENT TO LATER FIND OUT IT WAS UP FOR RECALL!

I HAD A RECALL ON MY CAR LAST YEAR 2017. I TOOK IT TO BE FIXED. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND POWER STEERING MODULE. AFTER HAVING THAT REPLACED I LATER NOTICE MY CAR WASN'T DRIVING RIGHT. THERE WAS A WHINING NOISE AND A NOISE COMING FOR STEERING WHEEL. SO I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO HAVE IT CHECK OUT.THE GUY SAID IT WILL COST $130.00 FOR THEM TO CHECK MY CAR. I ASKED IF COST TO CHECK THE PART THEY REPLACED BECAUSE MY CAR WAS DRIVING THE SAME SINCE THEY FIXED IT. IT TOOK LESS THAN AN HOUR FOR THEM TO TELL ME THAT THERE WASN'T ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE PARTS THAT WAS REPLACED. NOW MY CAR HAS BEEN GOING DOWN SINCE. SO JUNE 30,2018 I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC FOR OIL CHANGE AND HE TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD TAKE MY CAR TO DEALERSHIP TO GET RACK AND PINION CHECK.HE EXPRESS TO ME THAT I SHOULD GET IT LOOKED AT SOON BECAUSE MY WHEEL SEEM LIKE IT WILL LOCK. AUGUST 5,2018 I WAS DRIVING THE EXPRESS WAY AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR. IT KEPT SWERVING BACK AND FORWARD IN AND OUT OF LANE. I WAS TRYING TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR ON MY RIGHT SIDE AND HITTING THE BRICK WALL ON MY LEFT. I TO BRAKE ON THE EXPRESSWAY ALMOST COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP TO GET CONTROL OF THE CAR. DRIVING 8 HOURS, 70 MPH, ON 92 OUTSIDE TEMP DAY THE CAR STARTED MAKING A THUMPING SOUND WHEN BREAKING/STEERING SIMULTANEOUSLY. STEERING BECAME SOMEWHAT STIFFER. THE SOUND GOT LOUDER AS TIME WENT ON, POSSIBLY DUE TO EXTREME HEAT. WIFE WAS WITH ME AND WE BOTH BECAME VERY WORRIED BECAUSE WE WERE IN ATLANTA 5 PM TRAFFIC. WE MADE IT HOME AND I BEGAN AN INFORMATION SEARCH. I FOUND THAT OUR 2011 FORD FUSION WAS INCLUDED IN A FIELD SERVICE ACTION 15N01. I SPOKE WITH THE LOCAL FORD SERVICE MANAGER AND WAS TOLD THAT DID NOT APPLY TO THE SYMPTOMS I DESCRIBED BECAUSE THERE IS NO ADVANCE INDICATION THAT THE ELECTRIC CONTROLLED STEERING IS GOING OUT - IT JUST GOES OUT. FORD'S OWN REPORT MENTIONS THIS BEING POSSIBLY DANGEROUS BUT DOWNPLAYS THE CONCERN BY SAYING STEERING IS STILL POSSIBLE, JUST MORE DIFFICULT. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR SOME SUPPORT BUT OTHER THAN RECOMMENDING A DIAGNOSES AND SAYING SHE IS NOT A TECH, OFFERED NO MEANINGFUL INFORMATION. SHE DID ADMIT SHE WOULD NOT WANT TO DRIVE A CAR WITH THIS CONDITION EXISTING. LAST, I TRIED TO GET INFORMATION VIA LIVE CHAT AND WHEN I SENT THE FSA NUMBER, I WAS ACTUALLY BLOCKED OF MY ABILITY TO QUESTION HIM AND HE ENDED THE CHAT. FRANKLY, I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR THE RESPONSE OF A FORD MANAGEMENT PERSON TO THE QUESTION "WOULD YOU ALLOW YOUR DEAREST FAMILY MEMBERS RIDE IN A VEHICLE THAT SHOW FRIGHTENING SYMPTOMS OF A STEERING ISSUE KNOWING THE EXISTENCE OF THE 'FIELD SERVICE ACTION' WHICH IS ABOUT THE STEERING GOING OUT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

BATTERY, STARTER AND FLYWHEEL. FLYWHEEL MISSING TEETH POSSIBLY AFTER FAILED BATTERY. ORIGINALLY MY CAR WAS JUMP STARTED BY AAA 01/2014 DUE TO BATTERY FAILURE. WAS ADVISED TO GET BATTERY REPLACED. WHICH WAS RELUCTANTLY REPLACED BY FORD AT 36,805 01/2014. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS MAY HAVE TRIGGERED A NOISE THAT I IGNORED FOR A TIME, WHERE WHEN THE CAR WOULD START SOMETIMES IT WOULD MAKE A LOUD NOISE. IT WAS NOT EVERY START, BUT IT DID BECOME INCREASINGLY PRONOUNCED. IN MAY I FINALLY WENT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO SAID I HAD TEETH MISSING FROM THE STARTER AND FLY WHEEL AND THAT IT WAS MY FAULT FOR TRYING TO START THE CAR WHILE IT WAS RUNNING (THOUGH MY CAR HAS THE START LOCKOUT FEATURE). THE DEALER WANTED OVER $1700 TO REPLACE FLYWHEEL AND STARTER. OPENED A CASE WITH FORD AND THEY COVERED THE MAJORITY OF THE REPAIR, LEAVING ME WITH ABOUT A $450 DEDUCTIBLE. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS APPROVED, DEALER RE-CLASSIFIED THE PROBLEM AS THE STARTER STAYING ENGAGED WHICH DISTORTED THE FLYWHEEL. I RAISE THIS CASE, BECAUSE I THINK PERHAPS THE FAILED BATTERY COULD HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE, BUT FURTHER THE REPLACEMENT BATTERY FAILED AGAIN IN 6/25/2017, WHICH I REPLACED AGAIN. ON MY 3RD BATTERY. MAY BE WORTH NOTING THAT MY VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH INTEGRATED NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND DISPLAY. COULD BATTERY FAILURE ALSO BE THE SOURCE OF REPEATED FAN BLOWER MOTOR ISSUE?

VEHICLE REPAIRED 4 TIMES FOR INOPERABLE BLOWER MOTOR. FAN/BLOWER WILL EITHER FAIL OUTRIGHT, OR OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AND EVENTUALLY COMPLETE FAILURE. WILL FAIL EITHER IN WINTER OR SUMMER WHEN FAN IS USED THE MOST. THE FIRST TWO TIMES (3/1/2014 & 3/14/2016) THE RESISTOR CONTROL ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE WIRE HARNESS. THE THIRD TIME (11/29/2016) THE BLOWER MOTOR WAS REPLACED. THE FOURTH TIME THE BLOWER MOTOR CONNECTOR WAS REPLACED. OBVIOUSLY THESE CONNECTORS ARE MELTING DUE TO THE CURRENT DRAWN BY THE BLOWER MOTOR. I BELIEVE THERE MAY BE A TSB ISSUE, BUT FORD REFUSES TO ASSIST AS THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO HELP OR HONOR ANY WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY MANAGE TO REPLACE "DIFFERENT" PARTS EACH TIME, THOUGH I BELIEVE THAT IF THE BLOWER MOTOR, THE RESISTOR, AND ALL CONNECTORS WERE ALL REPLACED AT THE ONSET WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY ONE OR MORE OF THESE REPAIRS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE PRESENTED DURING WHEN THE FAN BLOWER STOPS WORKING SUDDENLY, AND THE WINDSHIELD WILL NOT DEFROST IN THE WINTER. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. DURING THE SUMMER DURING HIGH HUMIDITY, THE SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE FAN BLOWER MOTOR ALSO CAUSES THE DRIVER WINDSHIELD TO FOG UP ABRUPTLY, ALSO A SAFETY HAZARD. BOTH HAVE HAPPENED TO ME. THE COST OF THE REPAIRS $368, $455, $165 (~$1000) THUS FAR WITH THE FIRST CLAIM BEING UNDER WARRANTY. I'M CONCERNED THAT AFTER 4 VISITS FOR THE SAME CONCERN, THIS WILL REPEATEDLY HAPPEN. NOT SURE IF IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE BUT MY VEHICLE HAS THE INTEGRATED ONBOARD NAVIGATION SYSTEM.

I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY CITY STREET DURING RUSH HOUR WHEN I NOTICED THE CAR JERKING WHEN IT CHANGED GEARS. THE RPM WOULD SHOOT UP HIGH THEN BACK DOWN WHILE LOSING POWER TO THE VEHICLE. I MANAGED TO GET TO AN AUTO ADVANCE STORE WHERE I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC DONE SINCE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE DIAGNOSTIC CAME BACK WITH CODE PO455 TWICE AND PO457 TWICE. IT WAS THEN EXPLAINED THAT TOO MUCH AIR WAS GETTING INTO MY FUEL SYSTEM. I PROCEEDED TO GO TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, WHICH WAS A HALF MILE AWAY. ON THE WAY, MY CAR CONTINUED TO JERK AND LOOSE POWER AND SOME POINTS. THEN EVERYTHING DIGITAL WHICH ONE DISPLAYS MY MILEAGE AND THE OTHER DISPLAYS HOW MANY MILE TILL EMPTY DISPLAYED INTERMITTENT LINES AND THE WRENCH ILLUMINATED ON MY DASHBOARD. AT THIS TIME MY CAR WAS ON BUT QUICKLY LOST POWER TO GO FORWARD. IT ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BY THE CAR BEHIND ME. I PUT ON MY TURN SIGNAL AND I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURN OFF MY CAR WAITED A FEW MINUTES THE TURNED BACK ON AND PUT IT IN DRIVE. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. THE ENGINE JUST REVVED UP LIKE I HAD IT IN NEUTRAL. I PUT IT BACK IN PARK THEN PUT IT IN REVERSE. THE CAR WOULD OPERATE IN REVERSE. HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THREE MONTHS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, I HAD TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE BATTERY ACID ON MY POSITIVE TERMINAL THAT HAD EATEN THROUGH THE WIRING HARNESS. HAD TO HAVE HARNESS AND BATTERY REPLACED. I STILL NOTICE ISSUES OF BATTERY ACID ACCUMULATING AROUND THE SCREWS ON THE BATTERY HARNESS AND POSITIVE LEAD AGAIN.

I HAVE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF LOSING POWER STEERING BOTH WHILE STATIONARY AND DRIVING. THE CAR GENERATES A "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" ERROR MESSAGE. OFTEN AFTER TURNING OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTING (SOMETIMES TAKING SEVERAL TIMES), THE FAULT WILL CLEAR AND THE CAR OPERATES AGAIN NORMALLY; HOWEVER, THIS HAS RECURRED AT LEAST 3-4 TIMES IN THE FOUR YEARS I HAVE OWNED THE CAR. THIS ALSO OCCURS WHILE DRIVING, WHICH WOULD PRESENT A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD FOR SOMEONE UNLIKE MYSELF WHO DOES NOT HAVE PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITH MANUAL STEERING VEHICLES THAT CAN ADJUST ON THE FLY. ON JUNE 27, 2014 I TOOK MY CAR TO A DEALERSHIP FOR A RECALL TO REPROGRAM IT. ON JULY 14, 2014, MY CAR JUST STOPPED RUNNING WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE DEALER, AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, REFUSE TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY UNTIL THE CODE FOR MALFUNCTIONING THROTTLE BODY IS READ. WE DROVE IT AROUND THE PARKING LOT TO TEST IT, DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE IT BEHIND DUE TO THE AREA AND POSSIBILITY OF THEFT, ALSO COULD NOT AFFORD A WRECKER TO PICK IT UP. THE 2010 LEFT HER STRANDED WITH ZERO ENGINE POWER, IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSY ROADS A TOTAL OF TWO TIMES BEFORE THE DEALERSHIP (PALM COAST FORD) ON THE THIRD VISIT DECIDED THAT JUST CLEANING AND SPRAYING DOWN THE FAILING HARDWARE DIDN'T CUT IT AND FINALLY PUT A NEW ONE ON, LUCKILY STILL UNDER WARRANTY. ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2013 I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR SURFACE STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CAR JUST STOPPED WORKING. COMPLETELY POWERLESS. I SAW TWO LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD: THE BATTERY AND THE OIL. THERE MAY HAVE BEEN MORE BUT I WAS MORE FOCUSED ON SAFETY AND ONCOMING TRAFFIC THAN THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH. I DECIDED NOT TO TAKE A CHANCE OF GETTING REAR ENDED (INJURED OR KILLED) SO AT THE FIRST BIG BREAK IN TRAFFIC I SAFELY EXITED THE VEHICLE AND WALKED OVER TO THE SIDEWALK (ONE LANE OVER). A LOCAL APARTMENT RESIDENT SAW THE INCIDENT AND GRABBED A SAFETY CONE TO PUT BEHIND MY CAR AS A WARNING. THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE SITUATION AND HAVE RECEIVED NO "CODES" TO INDICATE A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. THEY HAVE CALLED FORD TO ASK FOR ASSISTANCE AND FORD HAS ASKED THEM QUESTIONS REGARDING LIGHTS GOING ON, MY SPEED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, HOW FAR I HAD BEEN DRIVING THE CAR BEFORE THE INCIDENT, ETC. I HAVE BEEN SENSING A SURGE IN ENGINE POWER FOR SEVERAL MONTHS IN MY 2011 FUSION. I SUSPECTED A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM AND GOOGLED FOR INFORMATION. I FOUND ALL OF THE INFORMATION ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE ABOUT THROTTLE BODY PROBLEMS FOR THIS CAR AS WELL AS INFORMATION IN OTHER FORUMS. IT WAS A GOOD THING AS I WAS PREPARED FOR WHAT HAPPENED TODAY. I HAD JUST LEFT MY HOUSE WHEN THE DREADED (AND EXPECTED) LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WITH THE WRENCH LIGHT BEING ILLUMINATED. I EXPERIENCED THE SAME SYMPTOMS REPORTED BY SO MANY COMPLAINTS LOGGED FOR THIS ISSUE: LOSS OF POWER, ROUGH IDLE, JUST ENOUGH POWER TO BARELY MOVE THE CAR, CERTAINLY NOT ENOUGH TO LIMP ANYWHERE, MUCH LESS HOME, EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE WAS IN "LIMP HOME" MODE. I HAD MY CODE SCANNER WITH ME AND WAS ABLE TO RETRIEVE THE P2111 (THROTTLE STUCK OPEN) CODE BEFORE I RESTARTED THE CAR TO RESTORE FULL POWER. THIS ONLY WORKED ENOUGH TO GET THE CAR TURNED AROUND WHEN LIMP HOME WAS TRIGGERED AGAIN. I RESTARTED AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO GET WITHIN A BLOCK OF MY HOUSE WHEN LIMP HOME TRIGGERED ONCE MORE. THE THIRD TIME I WAS ABLE TO GET TO MY HOUSE. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEN ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO GET MY CAR TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AFTER VERIFYING THAT THEY HAD A THROTTLE BODY IN STOCK. THE CAR WAS TOWED THERE AND A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPLACED. THIS IS NOT A CASE OF IF THE FAILURE WILL HAPPEN, BUT RATHER WHEN. I WAS FULLY EXPECTING IT ANY DAY AND SURE ENOUGH, IT HAPPENED. I WAS EXTREMELY FORTUNATE AS I WAS LESS THAN A MILE FROM HOME, KNEW WHAT TO EXPECT AND HOW TO DEAL WITH IT, AND MY CAR WAS STILL IN WARRANTY, BUT ONLY BY 1,806 MILES! ANY OTHER SITUATION WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN ME BEING IN A VERY DANGEROUS PREDICAMENT WITH A CAR THAT WAS BASICALLY DEAD IN THE WATER. I LEFT FROM MY HOME IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN USED SINCE THE PREVIOUS EVENING. ABOUT 2 MILES FROM MY HOUSE I GOT ONTO A STATE ROUTE AND STARTED TO GO UP A SLIGHT HILL. THE ENGINE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE WRENCH LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY APPEARED. THE SPEED OF THE CAR WENT FROM 45 MPH TO 0 IN AN INSTANT. THEN THE ENTIRE CAR POWERED OFF. I MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AS THIS HAPPENED AND NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE AT ALL. I TURNED THE CAR ON AGAIN WITH KEYS IN IGNITION. STARTED TO DRIVE AND THE SAME SERIES OF EVENTS HAPPENED AGAIN AND MY CAR COMPLETELY POWERED OFF. I GOT MY CAR TOWED TO FORD MALCOLM CUNNINGHAM ON 8/26/13. THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT CAUSED THE ISSUES. I PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY ON MY CAR WHICH ONLY COVERED THE ACTUAL PART AND NOT THE LABOR TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE REP, [XXX], SAID THAT THEY RECOMMENDED I ALSO FLUSH THE ENGINE BECAUSE THEY HAVE SEEN THIS IS RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE. SHE ALSO SAID THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUE IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH FUSIONS AND ESCAPES, AS SHE HAD ANOTHER PERSON IN THERE FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON AN ESCAPE. WITH NO ABILITY TO SPEED UP, I HAD TO NAVIGATE THROUGH TWO LANES OF HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC WITH A PARALYZED CAR TO GET ME AND MY CHILDREN TO SAFETY. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO DO SO. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN VERY OFTEN, AND THAT UNFORTUNATELY, THIS REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN. THEY ORDERED AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. UPON INVESTIGATING THIS ISSUE ONLINE, I WAS SHOCKED TO DISCOVER THAT THIS PROBLEM IS SO PREVALENT. THE FACT THAT FORD IS COVERING THIS UP AND PUSHING THE COSTS ON TO ITS CUSTOMERS IS FRUSTRATING (MORE THAN $1300 IN MY CASE), BUT THE FACT THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO RISK THE LIVES OF THESE VERY SAME CUSTOMERS IS DOWNRIGHT DISTURBING. WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE, ENGINE BEGAN TO LOOSE POWER AND AS MY SPEED DECREASED I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND THOUGH ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING AND INTERMITTENTLY COUGHED OR VIBRATED, I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 36,000 MILES (MY CAR HAS 38000 MILES). THIS IS A SERIOUS PUBLIC SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE READ THAT 2010 FORD FUSIONS ALSO HAVE A HISTORY OF THE SAME PROBLEM AT ABOUT 2-3 YEARS AFTER PURCHASE. ON MARCH 18TH 2013, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON A BUSY ROAD, FORCING ME TO NAVIGATE CAUTIOUSLY TO A SHOULDER. THE ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED THIS TIME. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, WAITED 5 MINUTES, AND RESTARTED. THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON AND THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE. I QUICKLY RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE PREVIOUS FORD AUTO CENTER, IN WHICH THEY DISCOVERED THE THROTTLE BODY WAS FAULTY. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND RETURNED THE CAR TO ME ON MARCH 21ST 2013. ON MARCH 22ND 2013, THE ENGINE COVER FELL OFF WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION, I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED VEHICLE TO THE PREVIOUS FORD AUTO CENTER, THEY REPLACED WITH NEW ENGINE COVER. AS OF TODAY, THE VEHICLE IS AGAIN SHOWING HESITATION AT ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION, RPM DASH METER NEEDLE BOUNCES PLUS MINUS 500RPMS DURING ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION. BREAKING IS NOT SMOOTH OR INSTANT, THE VEHICLE TENDS TO JUMP DURING BREAKING. AT COASTING SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE ALSO JUMPS. THESE ARE SIMILAR PROBLEMS THAT OCCURRED PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY SHUTTING OFF. THIS PROBLEM IS ALARMING AND AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD TO YOURSELF AND OTHERS AROUND YOU, NOTABLY AT HIGH HIGHWAY SPEEDS. CAR BUCKED THEN COMPLETELY DIED (IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET)! LIGHTS THAT CAME ON: STOP SAFELY NOW, WRENCH, ENGINE, TRIANGLE WITH EXCLAMATION POINT. TOOK A FEW TIMES TO START BACK UP. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY DID NOT HAVE A CODE BUT DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. A FEW DAYS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION! ( SAME CODES) BROUGHT IT TO DEALER AGAIN, THIS TIME APPARENTLY THEY FOUND THE CODE. THE DEALER SAID GAS WAS GOING IN THE WRONG PLACE AND REPLACED A VALVE. IT HAS SINCE HAPPENED MORE THAN FIVE TIMES, ALL HAPPENING AT LESS THAN 5 MPH WHEN STARTING AFTER A STOP. CURRENTLY WITH ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP (GIVEN THE PREVIOUS ONE CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD BUT CLAIMED IT WAS ALREADY THERE, NOT TO MENTION THE POOR SERVICE TO THE CAR). THIS LATEST INCIDENT WE HAD THE CAR TOWED. THIS WAS AT THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE FORD REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE WHO HAS BEEN EXTREMELY HELPFUL. (BY THE WAY, THIS FUSION IS A HYBRID.) THIS HAPPENED SOMETIME BACK, HOWEVER IT COULD BE RELATED TO YOUR CURRENT INVESTIGATIONS. WHEN I HAD APPROX 1900 MILES ON THE CAR AND WHILE I WAS GOING AROUND 70 MPH, THE CAR WENT INTO LIMP MODE AND I LOST ALL THROTTLE CONTROL. AFTER NEARLY GETTING HIT FROM BEHIND FROM A TRUCK (CAUSE I LOST SPEED), I MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO SAFETY AND SAW I HAD NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON TO FIND IT OUT IT WOULDN'T START. SO I TURNED IT OFF ONCE AGAIN, WAITED 20 OR SO SECONDS, AND TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND PROCEEDED TO WORK. LATER ON THAT NIGHT, I PULLED THE CODES OFF THE SYSTEM AND KEPT THEM AS PICTURES (P2104 AND P2112) JUST IN CASE THE CODES CLEARED (COLD CYCLE). SURE ENOUGH I GO TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY, NO CODES FOUND AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY (FORD) CAN DO. I SHOWED THEM THE PICTURES, HOWEVER I WAS STILL TURNED AWAY. LATER ON AT AROUND 7500 MILES, THIS HAPPENED AGAIN AND THIS TIME I WAS CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE DEALER TO RUN THE CODES. THEY PERFORMED TSB 11-4-23 ON THE ENGINE THROTTLE BODY AND ECU, AND INSTALLED A NEW WIRING HARNESS. LITTLE DID I KNOW AT THE TIME, BUT THIS STATES THAT UNDER RARE CONDITIONS THE ENGINE WILL EMIT THOSE CODES WHILE THE WIPERS ARE ON. *TR

I BOUGHT MY CAR ON DECEMBER, 2011. 1ST PROBLEM WAS THE DASHBOARD TURNING OFF FOR NO REASON. THE 2ND PROBLEM IS LIFE THREATENING. I AM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND OUT OF NO WHERE THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS UP, THE READERS GO CRAZY, AND MY CAR WILL DECELERATE TO 25MPH AND WILL NOT GO OVER THAT SPEED. EVERY TIME I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER AND WHEN I DO THE CAR SHAKES. I TURNED MY CAR OFF AND WHEN I TURN IT BACK ON ITS LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENED. NO LIGHTS STAY ON AND THE CAR DRIVES LIKE A CHAMP. IT DOES IT AT RANDOM TIMES, AND RANDOM SPEEDS. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN MAY 2012 AND THEY COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WITH IT. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AND IN AUGUST I TOOK THE CAR IN TWICE, THE FIRST TIME NOTHING WAS FOUND, THE SECOND TIME THEY CHANGE THE THROTTLE BODY ON IT. PROBLEM FIXED RIGHT?? NOT EVEN CLOSE. IN NOVEMBER IT DID IT AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALER BUT THEY COULD NOT SEE MY CAR FOR A FEW DAYS AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY LOANER VEHICLES. THE CAR THEN BEGAN TO RANDOMLY JERK AT A STOP LIGHTS OR WHEN I CHANGED GEARS. THIS WEEK THE FLARE UP HAPPENED AGAIN BUT THIS TIME THE CAR JERKED WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND THE ENGINE LIGHT AND WRENCH LIGHT BOTH TURNED ON. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE AND RIGHT WHEN I STARTED GOING UP A HILL THE DASHBOARD LIT UP, THE READERS WENT CRAZY AND MY CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS. I WAS ABLE TO BREAK BUT WHEN I PUSHED ON THE GAS THE CAR BARELY CREPT UP THE HILL. THE WRENCH LIGHT THEN TURNED OFF BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. THE NEXT MORNING I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. WHEN I TOOK IT IN THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON BUT WHEN THEY CHECKED IT THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF AND THERE WERE NO CODES ON THE COMPUTER. I AM SCARED OF THE CAR I AM DRIVING. BOX 6248 DEARBORN MI 48126 GENTLEMEN AND/OR LADIES: I HAVE OWNED A FORD (FUSION SE) FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND EVERY TIME I TAKE IT OUT OF THE GARAGE TO DRIVE I AM AFRAID. BUT IN ANY DAYLIGHT THE BIG NEEDLE TENDS TO DISAPPEAR, AND ON BRIGHT SUNLIT DAYS I USUALLY CANNOT SEE IT AT ALL IN THE FRACTION OF A SECOND I TAKE MY EYES OFF THE ROAD TO LOOK DOWN AT THE DASHBOARD. CURIOUSLY, THE SMALLER NEEDLE ON THE RIGHT THAT TELLS ME THE TEMPERATURE OF THE RADIATOR FLUID SHOWS UP BETTER THAN THE -- MUCH MORE IMPORTANT -- LARGE NEEDLE THAT SHOULD TELL ME THE SPEED. THE ORDER WRITER AT MY DEALER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO EXCEPT TURN UP THE DIAL THAT CONTROLS BRIGHTNESS OF THE NEEDLES WHICH HAVE, HE SAYS, LIGHTS INSIDE THEM. I HAD ALREADY DONE THAT. ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2011 I WAS DRIVING MY 5 MONTH OLD 2011 FORD FUSION HYBRID WITH 5700 MILES ON IT WHEN A BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND A WARNING TONE SOUNDED IN MY VEHICLE. I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED THE VEHICLE. I CALLED WALKER FORD IN CLEARWATER AND THEY SAID IT PROBABLY WAS ONLY A DEFECTIVE REAR BRAKE LIGHT AND BRING IT IN WHEN YOU HAVE TIME. I RESTARTED MY VEHICLE AND THE WARNING LIGHT AND TONE WERE GONE. I CONTINUED DRIVING HOME AND WHEN I WAS ALMOST HOME, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND SO DID THE WARNING TONE. BUT THIS TIME I NOTICED MY ESTIMATED MILES PER GALLON ON THE ONBOARD COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS GOING UP AND DOWN AND THE VEHICLE NO LONGER WENT INTO THE ELECTRIC HYBRID MODE. I CALLED WALKER FORD AND TOLD THEM I WAS GOING TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN ON THE MORNING OF SEPTEMBER 16TH. I BROUGHT IT IN AND ALL DAY LONG THEY TROUBLESHOOT IT AND WALKER FORD COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. THEY PUT A CALL INTO THE FORD TECHNICIAN HOTLINE TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. AT THE END OF THE DAY THEY DID NOT HEAR BACK FROM THE HOTLINE AND I NEEDED A VEHICLE TO GET HOME. WALKER FORD WANTED TO GIVE MY VEHICLE BACK TO ME TO DRIVE HOME AND USE OVER THE WEEKEND. I REFUSED SAYING THAT THE MANUAL SAID TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE FOR THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT AND THE ELECTRIC/HYBRID SYSTEM NOT WORKING. NOTHING IN THE MANUAL SAID TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. SO WALKER FORD FINALLY GAVE ME A LOANER TO DRIVE.
