I recently started to experience hard steering while in transit the power assist light came on and so does the advanced track warning light. I discovered there was a recall so I took it in to the Ford dealership, which was JC Lewis Ford in Savannah, Georgia, but the technician told me that there were too many miles and after 150,000 miles, the recall was null and void

Power-steering failed as well as received a warning on dash to "service advance trac, service power steering now" All warning came up during a approx. 1 hour drive and the power steering fully shut off after turning car off then back on at a gas station on the way. Lack of power steering puts lives at risk due to the difficulty the driver has in controlling the vehicle particularly at lower speeds where it is more likely there are pedestrians around.
I was going down the road around 50 mph and advancetrac lights came on , service power steering now . Showed up on dash . Couldn't steer vehicle almost crashed

Same issue as others have stated with the power steering just stopping all of a sudden. The car randomly starts yelling about service power steering now and service advancetrac, you put the car in park or turn it off and then the power steering goes out. Had it cleared by a mechanic who said it is a sensor issue. We didn’t get to replace the sensor but power steering came back when he cleared the codes. About a week later it happened again. And like others, there isn’t a recall listed for it with my vehicle just something about the air bags.

While driving with family, power steering assist fault came on and suddenly it was hard to move the steering wheel which resulted in drifting and an extemely close call car crash on highway. Had to get it towed due to safety concern.
My power steering failed. The steering is very difficult to steer and maneuver at low speed. The error code on the dashboard beeps every time I enter the vehicle “power steering assist fault” and is available for inspection. This is extremely unsafe when driving at any speed because of the extra effort required to maneuver the vehicle putting other drivers or pedestrians at risk in the event of needing to avoid a collision. The problem has been inspected by Ford and another independent mechanic. Ford did not honor the recall. There was no warning for the issue, other than the beeping and the message on the dashboard. I had drove to the store and parked with power steering, when I started the car up to leave the store I suddenly had no power steering and had to have the car towed.

The electric power steering assist (EPSA) function of the car is no longer functional. It is available for inspections upon request. The vehicle began intermittently losing power steering when the vehicle would start. The problem can now be re-produced each time the vehicle is started. The problem is a known issue with this model Ford Fusion and was part of a previous recall. This vehicle was serviced by the Ford dealership during the times the recall was in place and had the EPSA re-programmed. The issue still persists, and the vehicle is unsafe to drive. The recall is no longer in effect and Ford will not remedy the issue.
Unknown electric power steering shut down while traveling leaving me with no power steering
Car was impacted by previous recall related to the power steering electrical systems and power steering assist fault light. Ford needs to pay for these issues, so many people with this vehicle have had this issue and ford is refusing to pay for it.
Power steering went out. The steering rack has now gone bad in this vehicle twice. The first time it was covered under a recall, 15S18, and then there were further issues, so they issued a customer satisfaction recall with the number 15N01. 2012 ford fusion with 110,000 miles, two steering racks, but because the customer service recall is expired, they won’t replace my second bad steering rack, and it is going to cost me 3,000 dollars, more than half the worth of the car according to KBB. I find this to be incredibly unfair that Ford can put a crappy part that costs 2000 dollars in a vehicle, and then say because the customer service recall is expired, it’s my job and responsibility to spend 3,000 dollars fixing their crappy part.
The power steering will go out and will make the wheel lock up
I was driving down the highway, and out of no where my powersteering shut off, we almost wrecked with my 2 kids and wife In the car. I had a message pop up on the dash saying “service powersteering now” “service advancetrac”. We pulled over, I tried disconnecting the battery hoping the issues was electrical. It didn’t help. I checked every fuse both under the dash and under the hood, all were good. I got to doing some research, turns out there was a recall on 2012 ford fusions without the 3.5L (mine is the 2.5L) for this exact issue. The Electric Powersteering has issues that could cause severe accidents. I reached out to Ford about the issue, and I was told the recall didn’t apply to my vehicle. Even though I do in fact own a 2012 ford fusion with the 2.5L engine, and I’m having the same dangerous issue that was replaced in other vehicles like mine. Brakes failed while driving. Finally stopped after multiple attempts after pressing brakes to the floor. ABS, advancetrac, and ABS lights came up on dash while this was occurring (not prior). Dealer reproduced /confirmed concern. ABS module fix of $2750. Luckily I was driving slowly and no other cars, people, or animals were in the vicinity; otherwise, this could have resulted in injury/deaths.
The electric power steering went out and the wheel will not turn. There is a similar recall in other cars with the same issues

The contact then stated that she attempted to operate the A/C unit, when she heard an abnormal sound inside the unit. The contact also stated that the unit failed to dispense cool air. Additionally, the contact stated that after the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle hesitated to respond for five seconds. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that due to an unknown electrical failure, the A/C compressor needed to be replaced. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Service advance trac and service power steering now keeps coming on . I’ve looked this problem up and seems to be a VERY common thing amongst ford fusions. Because of this , my power steering turns off and no matter how many times I reset the code , it keeps turning back on . It makes it very dangerous to drive the car especially if it turns off in the middle of a trip/drive.
Power Steering Gear , no had it fixed at ford diagnostic code P07AE . Was driving on the freeway power steering went out and car jerked wheel all the way to right almost hit guardrail with 5 yr old daughter in car. Yes . yes. No.
Service advance track light came on , the car was turned off then back on and the warning light was gone. Begin driving, made it 10 miles or so then the electric power steering went out while driving the vehicle. Service advance track light came on. The car then lost all power steering. This resulted in difficulty steering. When the steering went out this almost lead to a collision.

Power Steering just locked up while driving with no warning or indicator, it still drives but it randomly locks up where i have no control over the vehicle In backing up out of our driveway i wasnt able to stop because the braking system froze up along with the steering and i hit a truck that was going down our road
I pulled out of my parking lot started to accelerate and my power steering went out. There was no warning, no check engine light. It's been well maintained and no documentation of this happening with previous owner. My assist power steering now, and advice stabilitrak just flash and now I can't move the wheel to even get it to a shop.
Power steering went out. Then traction control went out. Due to. Module and all components for power steering along with pins and rods.

In 2019 my power steering failed on my 2012 Ford Fusion. I had if fixed because I was not part of the recall for power steering. Well on August 2nd 2022 it has failed again. And needs replacing again.
AC does not work, the climate control module is the problem. when you switch the AC on it only blows heat. The fix would be a new climate control module.
Power Steering intermittently stops working.
While driving, the power steering went out completely which made it incredibly difficult to steer the car. The car's warning lights immediately flashed that the AdvanceTrac and Power Steering were both out. There were no advanced warnings and happened in the middle of a drive. I have taken the car to a dealership that said there was a recall for this exact situation in other 2012 Ford Fusions with the electric power assist system going out which causes the power steering to fail, but my VIN did not meet the recall requirements. I believe the recall should be expanded as this is incredibly dangerous to current owners. I am lucky this happened while I was driving the car as my wife would not have been able to safely move the car to the side of the road. She could have been in a much worse situation where the car was a risk to other drivers on the road.
Started car and began to back out of parking space. There had been a few drops of rain, but it wasn't actively raining at the time. Brake went to floor when driver went to slow down. Numerous dashboard lights and messages came on, including ABS, Traction Control, Traction Control Off, and "Service ADVANCETRAC" message. Driver stopped car with handbrake and shut car off. Tried several times to restart vehicle over the next 30 minutes, but lights remained on and brake remained soft. Finally restarted car and brake was normal, but lights remained on. All lights went on and car returned to normal when put in drive gear. This has happened about five times to two different drivers over the past 18 months. All but one time in rain, and twice while driving at 35 mph or so. We will plan to scrap or trade in the vehicle. Vehicle has been checked out by both an independent mechanic and Richmond Ford West, with no issues identified when examined.
Driving down the road when my car suddenly started to decelerate. It would not allow me to go any faster when pressing the gas. I had to pull over put my hazard lights on as cars were coming up on me. I pulled over turned my car off and waiting a few seconds, turned it back on and it was fine. However, I looked up what it could be and found the electronic throttle body could be the cause. Why hasn’t mine been fixed if Ford new about this. I’ve been in an had my oil change and my air bag recall and nobody has mentioned any of that.
On October 5th, 2021 around 6:20am, the brakes on my 2012 Ford Fusion Hybrid failed to slow the car in any way. This event occurred while I was on the highway (M14) going ~65mph. Unable to conventionally stop, I was a crash hazard to those around me, and to the braking traffic in front of me. After being inspected by the Varsity Ford Dealership, I was told "the brake control unit is not actuating the valves in the hydraulic control unit" and that "there is a possibility that it will also need the hydraulic control unit as well." It has been at the dealership for the past 2 weeks and is available for inspection. There were no warning messages or signs prior to the brake failing. I received a warning sign at the point of failure, but by then I already knew the brakes did not work.
Drove car out of driveway, after driving approximately 150-200 feet the dashboard wrench icon ( powertrain problem ) illuminated and car went into limp mode. Read MIL codes, had codes P0715, Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction and P0717, Input/Turbine Speed Sensor No Signal. Traced wiring problem to connector in front of drivers side shock tower. This connector is the connector between the PCM and and the transmission. The connector was causing an open on the conductors, causing the lack of TSS signal. There were no symptoms or intermittent problems prior to this - it happened suddenly. Had been on an interstate hiway the day prior to this, am glad this ( going into limp mode ) did not happen while I was traveling at 65mph - could have caused accident.

POWER STEERING JUST DIED WHILE I WAS ON HIGHWAY ALMOST LOST CONTROL AND SERVICE POWER STEERING CAME ON FUNNY THING IS IT SHOULD BE RECALLED IT IS HORRIBLE.

I OWN A 2012 FORD FUSION SE 6 CYLINDER THIS VEHICLE HAS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. MY PASSENGER SIDE RTAIL LIGHT CONTINUES TO BLOW AND THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT OCCURRED LAST WEEK WHEN I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL. DURING THE SUMMER OF 2016, THE A/C BLOWER BEGAN TO FUNCTION INTERMITTENTLY ' MANIPULATION OF THE WIRE HARNESS SUPPLYING POWER TO THE RESISTOR WOULD CAUSE THE BLOWER TO TURN ON/OFF. THE BLOWER ONLY RAN AT ONE SPEED (I.E. THE RESISTOR WAS BAD). THE BLOWER AND RESISTOR WERE REPLACED. THE ISSUE IS ONCE AGAIN OCCURRING AT ~80,000 MILES. THIS IS A WELL-DOCUMENTED COMPLAINT (BLOWER PULL TOO MUCH CURRENT AND FRIES THE RESISTOR) WITH THIS VEHICLE AND, OFTENTIMES, FORD DEALERS ARE ONLY REPLACING/REPAIRING THE BLOWER AND RESISTOR. HOWEVER, IN MY EXPERIENCE (AND LIKELY MANY OTHERS), THE WIRE HARNESS ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE AS CONTINUITY THROUGH THE WIRING IS ALSO AFFECTED WHEN THIS ISSUE FIRST OCCURS. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT FORD IS NOT ADDRESSING. FURTHERMORE, THEIR DEALERSHIPS/SERVICE CENTER PERSONNEL ARE NOT ADEQUATELY EDUCATED ON HOW TO PERMANENTLY CORRECT THIS ISSUE (THIS IS EVIDENT BY THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THAT REFERENCE THE ISSUE RECURRING AFTER ONLY THE BLOWER MOTOR AND RESISTOR ARE REPLACED). RECEIVED WARNING "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" AND "SERVICE ADVANCTRAC." THESE ARE THE SAME WARNINGS RECEIVED PRIOR TO REPAIR. THE CAR WENT IMMEDIATELY AND GROSSLY OUT OF ALIGNMENT. ABOVE 55 MPH, THE CAR SHAKES SEVERELY. FORD DEALERSHIP SAYS THE REPAIR NEEDED FALLS UNDER THE TSB 11-11-3 RELATED TO HIGH FRICTION IN THE CONTROL ARMS; HOWEVER, THE TSB STATES THAT THIS PROBLEM ONLY CAUSES THE STABILITY/TRACTION INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TO ILLUMINATE. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS EVERYTHING UNDER MY CAR LOOKS TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION AND THAT THIS HAS TO BE THE PROBLEM, STATING THAT THE HIGH FRICTION IS CAUSING THE POWER STEERING PUMP TO LOCK UP WHICH IS THEN FAILING THE POWER STEERING ALL TOGETHER. AFTER FORD LOOKED AT THE CAR, THEY CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT IT NEEDED A POWER STEERING GEAR BOX REPLACED AND WOULD COST $1,675.00. AFTER TALKING TO THEM AND OBTAINING A SECOND QUOTE FROM A DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOP, I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL THAT INVOLVED THE POWER STEERING ASSIST. I THEN CALLED FORD MANUFACTURER TOLL FREE AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT YES THERE WAS A RECALL YET BECAUSE I DID NOT TAKE MY CAR IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED IN 2015, THAT FORD WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF THIS REPAIR. I INFORMED THE MAN THAT I WAS NOT TOLD OF ANY RECALL SO HOW WOULD I HAVE KNOWN TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP? FURTHERMORE, I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THIS DEALERSHIP AFTER THE RECALL WAS PUBLISHED (FOR A DIFFERENT ISSUE) AND THEY DID NOT SAY ANYTHING TO ME AT THAT TIME ABOUT THERE BEING AN OPEN RECALL. I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING AT THE TIME I WAS THERE FOR A DIFFERENT ISSUE IF THERE WAS AN OPEN RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. WE CANNOT MOVE THE TRANSMISSION FROM PARKING TO NEUTRAL OR DRIVE. TOWING THE VEHICLE IS THE ONLY OPTION. AFTER WORK I STOPPED BY AUTOZONE TO BUY A REPLACEMENT BULB. I REMOVED THE SOCKET FROM THE LENS, AND NOTICED THAT THE BULB IS MELTED INTO THE SOCKET. THE BULB CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM THE SOCKET. I THEN CHECKED THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR TAIL LIGHT BULB, AND THAT BULB IS ALSO MELTED INTO THE SOCKET. I TOOK MY CAR TO ART HILL FORD DEALERSHIP (WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR), AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS WOULD NOT BE COVERED ON MY WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE A TECHNICIAN LOOK AT IT. I ASKED TO HAVE A TECHNICIAN PLEASE LOOK AT IT NOW BECAUSE I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE VEHICLE SAFETY. I PURCHASED MY 2012 FORD FUSION ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO FROM A FAMILY MEMBER WHO HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR SINCE OWNING IT NEW. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRANS INTO NEUTRAL UNTIL THE ACCELERATION DIED DOWN TO THE NORMAL RPM. ON THE SECOND OCCASION I SHUT THE IGNITION OFF 2-TIMES BEFORE THE ACCELERATION STOPPED. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH PRIOR CARS AND THE MANUFACTURERS HAVE HAD NO SYSTEM IN PLACE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND BECAUSE IT IS A RANDOM EVENT IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO REPLICATE. BECAUSE OF LITIGATION IN ACCIDENT CASES I BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURERS ARE IN DENIAL OF THIS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. *TR

DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN TORRANCE CA AT 65 MPH WHEN THE CAR BEGAN TO BUCK AND JERK AND SLOWED TO ABOUT 30 MPH. IT WOULD NOT TAKE ANY MORE POWER OR ACCELERATION. I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AND WAS ABLE TO EXIT AND PARK AND I THEN NOTED THE TEMP GAUGE SHOWED HOT ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE DID NOT APPEAR HOT. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY TEMP SENSOR THAT SHOWED THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING AND CAUSIG THE ENGINE TO GO INTO THE PARTIAL SHUT-DOWN MODE. THIS HAS HAPPENED OFTEN ENOUGH THAT FORD HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT ON THE PROBLEM, BUT NO RECALL. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER IF I HAD STILL BEEN IN THE LEFT OR DIAMOND LANE SO THERE SHOULD BE A MANUFACTURER RECALL TO HAVE THESE PARTS CHECKED OUT. APPARENTLY SOME ARE CORRODED. *TR
